- 0:02A being stood immortal, intransience, deathless,
- 0:06dallying with momentary things, in whose wide eyes of tranquil
- 0:11happiness, which pity and sorrow could not abrogate Infinity
- 0:17turned its gaze on finite shapes.
- 0:21Observer of the silent steps of the hours.
- 0:24Eternity upheld the minutes, acts, and the passing scenes of
- 0:29the Everlasting's play in the mystery of its selecting will in
- 0:36the Divine Comedy. A participant, the Spirit's
- 0:41conscious representative, God's delegate in our humanity,
- 0:46comrade of the universe, the transcendence Ray.
- 0:51She had come into the mortal body's room to play at ball with
- 0:55time and circumstance. A joy in the world, her Master
- 1:00movement. Here, the passion of the game
- 1:03lighted her eyes. A smile on her lips welcomed
- 1:06Earth's bliss and grief. A laugh was her return to
- 1:10pleasure and pain. All things she saw as a
- 1:14masquerade of truth disguised in the costumes of ignorance.
- 1:20Crossing the years to immortality.
- 1:24All she could front with the strong Spirit's peace, But since
- 1:28she knows the toil of mind and life as a mother feels and
- 1:33shares her children's lives, she puts forth a small portion of
- 1:39herself, a being no bigger than the thumb of man, into a hidden
- 1:45region of the heart, to face the pang and to forget the bliss, to
- 1:50share the suffering and endure earth's wounds and labour mid
- 1:56the labour of the stars. This in US laughs and weeps,
- 2:02suffers the stroke, exalts in victory, struggles for the
- 2:07crown, identified with the mind and body and life.
- 2:12It takes on itself their anguish and defeat, bleeds with fate's
- 2:17whips and hangs upon the cross. It is the unwounded and immortal
- 2:23self supporting the actor in the human scene.
- 2:28Through this she sends us her glory and her powers, pushes to
- 2:32wisdom's heights. Through misery's gulfs.
- 2:36She gives us strength to do our daily task and sympathy, but
- 2:40that partakes of others grief and the little strength we have
- 2:45to help our race. We who must fill the role of the
- 2:50universe, acting itself out in a slight human shape and on our
- 2:55shoulders carry the struggling world.
- 2:59This is in us the Godhead, small and marred.
- 3:03In this human portion of divinity she seats the greatness
- 3:07of the soul in time to uplift from light to light, from power
- 3:12to power, till on a heavenly peak it stands, a king in body,
- 3:18weak in its heart and invincible might.
- 3:23It climbed, stumbling, held up by an unseen hand, a toiling
- 3:28spirit in a mortal shape. Here, in this Chamber of flame
- 3:33and light they met. They looked upon each other,
- 3:37knew themselves, the secret deity and its human part, the
- 3:43calm and mortal and the struggling soul.
- 3:47Then with a magic transformation speed, they rushed into each
- 3:52other and grew 1.
