- 0:43Speaker 1: Hello, I'm book and.
- 0:45Speaker 3: We're the Evident Jewisman.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Hello, friends and lovers.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Hello, how are you sir?
- 0:52Speaker 1: I'm doing very well. Uh, just living that life. Getting
- 0:56Speaker 1: ready for vacation again soon, which I'm excited for.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Got a lot of how about you. I'm currently kind
- 1:04Speaker 3: of on vacation. I'm up at my in laws cabin. Yeah,
- 1:10Speaker 3: we just got up last night. Today was kind of
- 1:13Speaker 3: a rainy day, so I'm hoping that that was the
- 1:17Speaker 3: we got that one out of the way. We're gonna
- 1:19Speaker 3: have some nice, nice weather so the kids can swim
- 1:22Speaker 3: and all that kind of good stuff. Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 1: I think it is supposed to get nicer.
- 1:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's supposed to be warmer for sure, which will
- 1:31Speaker 3: be fun. And but yeah, today was cool rainy days
- 1:34Speaker 3: up here.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Fun.
- 1:35Speaker 3: You get to go into town that you know, they
- 1:38Speaker 3: got like the candy shop and they had bakery and
- 1:42Speaker 3: just see all the cute stuff.
- 1:44Speaker 1: Get the hang. I love it. It was fun.
- 1:47Speaker 3: And now I can just watch any movies. Not yet,
- 1:53Speaker 3: but I watched still yesterday, Yes I would. I watched
- 1:59Speaker 3: the new Matt day in Slash Casey Affleck movie on
- 2:02Speaker 3: Apple TV Plus called The Instigators.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Tell Me Everything.
- 2:08Speaker 3: It's a bunch of fun, okay, it's It was directed
- 2:12Speaker 3: by Doug Lyman, who just did the New Roadhouse movie.
- 2:16Speaker 3: He did Edge of Tomorrow, which we loved. But it's
- 2:20Speaker 3: about a couple of guys that are involved with a
- 2:22Speaker 3: crime that doesn't go well. They're not like great criminals
- 2:27Speaker 3: and then it's just a bunch of bickering trying to
- 2:29Speaker 3: get out of the situation.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Sounds love.
- 2:32Speaker 3: It's very, very funny. It's an awesome cast with those
- 2:36Speaker 3: two Hong Chow, Ving Raim's, Ron Perlman, Toby Jones, Michael Stolberg,
- 2:44Speaker 3: and Alfred Molina. It's it's a bunch of really big
- 2:49Speaker 3: name actors in this movie.
- 2:51Speaker 1: We haven't seen Stulberg in a sec.
- 2:53Speaker 3: It's you know, he he did well for himself from
- 2:57Speaker 3: the tens to the twenties, right, And I don't even
- 3:02Speaker 3: really think so. I think he's always in stuff, but
- 3:05Speaker 3: he's just kind of true. He's always like number eight
- 3:07Speaker 3: on the list and he just crushes every time. And
- 3:11Speaker 3: he did that again in this one. But yeah, dude,
- 3:14Speaker 3: it's it's a really good time and it went straight
- 3:17Speaker 3: to Apple TV Plus. I would have felt good going
- 3:20Speaker 3: to the theater even seeing this one. It was fun.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I love it.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Yeah, nice, highly recommend, very cool. What About You was
- 3:27Speaker 3: the last movie you watched?
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm going to flip flop here because this is kind
- 3:32Speaker 1: of akin to what you just said because it's an
- 3:35Speaker 1: Apple movie. I don't know if it's on Apple TV
- 3:38Speaker 1: Plus yet or not. I went to a theater I
- 3:41Speaker 1: saw the new film fly Me to the Moon. Have
- 3:44Speaker 1: you heard about this one?
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yes?
- 3:45Speaker 4: I have.
- 3:46Speaker 1: So this is the for folks who don't know. This
- 3:49Speaker 1: is Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johnson and it's a movie
- 3:54Speaker 1: all about basically the going to the Moon and the
- 3:58Speaker 1: chaos that rounded that in the late sixties. I didn't
- 4:04Speaker 1: know anything about this movie. This cast is bonkers first
- 4:07Speaker 1: of all. Also pretty much like you said, we got
- 4:10Speaker 1: Woody Harrelson in here, Ray Romano, that Jim Rash guy
- 4:14Speaker 1: that I like so much from Community and stuff that
- 4:17Speaker 1: or that we like, I should say, and then Ana Garcia,
- 4:20Speaker 1: who I didn't know, but she was just a delight
- 4:23Speaker 1: in this movie. She's really fun and just a ton
- 4:26Speaker 1: of other people hanging around in this and it's Yeah,
- 4:30Speaker 1: it's way funnier than I thought it would be. It's
- 4:33Speaker 1: very charming and very sweet, and there's just a lot
- 4:37Speaker 1: of good stuff that happens. It's like a semi true story,
- 4:40Speaker 1: I think, Oh.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Really, because they made it seem like it was, you know,
- 4:45Speaker 3: just from the trailer.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Yeah, they show.
- 4:48Speaker 3: You that they film a moon landing in case it
- 4:52Speaker 3: doesn't work.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it's historical fiction a little bit. I
- 4:56Speaker 1: don't know how much, Like I don't know how much
- 4:59Speaker 1: live they took, because I don't know. It seems very
- 5:02Speaker 1: plausible to me that they might have actually planned to
- 5:04Speaker 1: do this just in case, you know what I mean.
- 5:06Speaker 1: So like I don't know that part, but certainly there
- 5:10Speaker 1: had to be some liberties taken because it's very silly
- 5:12Speaker 1: in points. But maybe not. Humans are silly, so I
- 5:16Speaker 1: don't know. But I really really liked this movie a lot,
- 5:19Speaker 1: like I had an awesome time watching it. Cool. I
- 5:22Speaker 1: thought it was a blast, so I recommend it to everybody.
- 5:24Speaker 1: I thought it was really cute.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I'm gonna definitely see it.
- 5:27Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I loved it.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Have you an Apple movie?
- 5:30Speaker 1: So it's it is an Apple movie, But I don't
- 5:33Speaker 1: know if it's an Apple TV Plus or not. But
- 5:37Speaker 1: those usually go pretty quick if they're not right away,
- 5:40Speaker 1: so sure, it's probably available right now. I just don't know.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Just happen to go to the theater. So nice. How
- 5:46Speaker 1: about you've been streaming things.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I stayed on Apple TV Plus. I started a new
- 5:52Speaker 3: Vince Fawn show. Oh yeah, Monkey, bad Monkey.
- 5:58Speaker 1: That's right, that's right.
- 6:00Speaker 3: He is the star for sure, and it's the main
- 6:04Speaker 3: reason to watch the show. It took me a second
- 6:07Speaker 3: to get into it. Currently there are three episodes. I'm
- 6:11Speaker 3: all caught up. It looks like Wednesdays or when they
- 6:15Speaker 3: get their the new episodes out. But yeah, it's like
- 6:19Speaker 3: he's a kind of a detective and there is a
- 6:25Speaker 3: crime happening and he's got to figure it out. But
- 6:28Speaker 3: there's a lot of chaos, and there's this narrator that
- 6:34Speaker 3: really has thrown me off. He's got this really gruff voice,
- 6:40Speaker 3: and he is a character in the show as well,
- 6:43Speaker 3: and I'm just like, his voice kind of grates on
- 6:47Speaker 3: me a little bit, so you're like.
- 6:49Speaker 1: I don't love it. It's taken me.
- 6:52Speaker 3: It's taken me a little bit to get used to that.
- 6:55Speaker 3: It's definitely a goofy vibe. But Vince Vaughn is so great.
- 7:00Speaker 3: It just his his delivery. He's a one of one.
- 7:04Speaker 3: There's nobody like him, and it's been fun seeing him
- 7:09Speaker 3: in something like this. I haven't really seen him in
- 7:13Speaker 3: more of a comedic TV role.
- 7:17Speaker 1: I feel like.
- 7:17Speaker 3: Whenever he's on TV, he's like really serious, so it's
- 7:21Speaker 3: a little bit more fun to see him be more
- 7:24Speaker 3: Vince Vannie. But yeah, there's only three episodes out currently.
- 7:29Speaker 3: I've been enjoying it. I'm gonna keep I'm gonna keep
- 7:31Speaker 3: watching it. That's awesome.
- 7:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna have to check that out. I just heard.
- 7:36Speaker 1: I listened to some podcast he was on recently and
- 7:38Speaker 1: that was fun.
- 7:40Speaker 3: His SmartLess that was one of the better Smartlest episodes.
- 7:44Speaker 1: It was really fun.
- 7:45Speaker 3: And I also watched his Hot Ones, which was I've
- 7:48Speaker 3: never watched like fall fun ones before, so that is
- 7:52Speaker 3: definitely worth checking out if you haven't seen it.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Nice. Does he go crazy?
- 7:55Speaker 3: He's hilarious. He doesn't really go crazy, but just like
- 7:59Speaker 3: he like takes his snath, just like, oh, she's in
- 8:03Speaker 3: a bad mood today.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Oh, just a clip of that actually now that you
- 8:06Speaker 1: say that, Yeah, yeah.
- 8:08Speaker 3: She's angry or she's going to bed early tonight, just
- 8:12Speaker 3: like who comes up with that? He just sees the best.
- 8:16Speaker 1: That's fun, that's fun. I feel like I haven't seen
- 8:18Speaker 1: him in anything super recently, say, like that freaky movie
- 8:22Speaker 1: he was in, which wasn't as good as I wanted to.
- 8:25Speaker 3: Didn't see that.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not awesome, but very cool. Nice love what
- 8:30Speaker 1: have you been streaming?
- 8:31Speaker 5: So?
- 8:31Speaker 1: I actually went to the theater for this as well.
- 8:34Speaker 1: H went and saw the movie Sing Sing in the
- 8:37Speaker 1: theater just like, Yes, really really liked it a lot.
- 8:41Speaker 1: It's very powerful. It was I didn't really know what
- 8:46Speaker 1: to expect. I just got invited along and went for it.
- 8:49Speaker 1: It's basically about all these dudes that are in a
- 8:51Speaker 1: prison and they have this like drama club that kind
- 8:55Speaker 1: of becomes their outlet, and uh, yeah, it's just it's
- 9:01Speaker 1: it's super cool and beautiful and there's really tense stuff
- 9:04Speaker 1: and really heart wrenching stuff that happens in it, and
- 9:07Speaker 1: it's just it's a lot, but it's really good and
- 9:10Speaker 1: I don't feel like this is spoiling anything. I didn't
- 9:13Speaker 1: know this going in, but it's like part of all
- 9:17Speaker 1: their promo stuff. All the dudes in it are formerly
- 9:20Speaker 1: incarcerated actors, so that like really gave it an extra
- 9:26Speaker 1: layer of coolness and then call it I guess it
- 9:31Speaker 1: says it says all the actors, so I don't. I
- 9:34Speaker 1: don't know that, so like this isn't obviously like trying
- 9:37Speaker 1: to say he's a felon or anything like I don't know,
- 9:40Speaker 1: but yeah, that's what like all their all their promo
- 9:44Speaker 1: stuff says for sure all the other guys are because
- 9:48Speaker 1: they like talk about them later and stuff, and they
- 9:51Speaker 1: do a really cool like post credits where they kind
- 9:54Speaker 1: of show some of that. But it's just it's really
- 9:58Speaker 1: it's a beautiful and interesting film and I really liked
- 10:00Speaker 1: it a lot, so like toes the line somewhere between
- 10:03Speaker 1: documentary and like full feature film. It's really it's something
- 10:08Speaker 1: I don't know, I really I dug it. I thought
- 10:10Speaker 1: was really cool. Uh and I think people like it
- 10:13Speaker 1: if you're okay going a little like artsy fartsy, but
- 10:17Speaker 1: with some real moments. It was cool checking out, Yeah
- 10:21Speaker 1: for sure. Nice. Well, what do you think should do
- 10:23Speaker 1: if you plug a runes? I do?
- 10:25Speaker 3: Let's do that, all right.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Guess can find us as always over on the Twitter
- 10:28Speaker 1: machine where we're at Avid Endorsement with a Z. We're
- 10:31Speaker 1: gonna go to Facebook dot com at the Avid Endorsement
- 10:35Speaker 1: there as well, and Instagram and TikTok at the Avid
- 10:38Speaker 1: Endorsement there as well as well. But if you really
- 10:41Speaker 1: want to hang out and be part of the crew,
- 10:43Speaker 1: the spot to go.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Is atreon dot com slash the Avid Endorsement.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Oh mama.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, we give our patrons a bunch of perks.
- 10:55Speaker 3: We love our patrons. One of those persons is getting

- 11:07Speaker 3: deb Olk, and Noah Flores. Thanks for being patrons and

- 11:26Speaker 3: We'll do a top five draft that pertains to the
- 11:29Speaker 3: episode we're talking about. It pertains to the movie we're
- 11:32Speaker 3: talking about. And for this one, we're gonna do our
- 11:35Speaker 3: top five favorite Sandra Bullock films, So fun, Sandy b Time.
- 11:42Speaker 1: She's got quite the filmography she does. She had some stinkers, yes,
- 11:49Speaker 1: but a lot of bangers too, a lot a lot
- 11:51Speaker 1: of bangers as well. She takes projects she ain't she's
- 11:54Speaker 1: not scared.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Yep, there were some weird ones there in the middle,
- 11:57Speaker 3: but yeah, she be a good list.
- 12:01Speaker 1: I love it. It's going to be a good time.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I believe in my heart. I also believe in my
- 12:08Speaker 1: heart that we have a coming attraction. I just don't
- 12:10Speaker 1: remember what it is, so.
- 12:12Speaker 3: You know what, I think Scotty doesn't know either.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Oh that's right, it's euro trip.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Oh my trip.
- 12:19Speaker 3: At least that's what we're talking about.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah, and if it's not, you know, like we'll figure
- 12:24Speaker 1: it out. I don't know. Sometimes we find out that
- 12:27Speaker 1: you can't stream a movie anywhere, and I haven't checked
- 12:30Speaker 1: on that one. That's for sure. I have yet anyway,
- 12:33Speaker 1: so we'll see, we'll find out, but hopefully it is
- 12:36Speaker 1: that it will be euro Trip. I just realized we've
- 12:39Speaker 1: never said the title. And if you don't know that
- 12:41Speaker 1: very specific reference, you didn't know that euro Trip a
- 12:45Speaker 1: classic silly movie from the early aughts. I believe I
- 12:49Speaker 1: don't know. We'll talk about that one next time. We're
- 12:52Speaker 1: here today to talk about a lovely film called Speed.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I'll be ever heard of it?
- 12:59Speaker 3: Yes?
- 13:00Speaker 1: What year did this come out? I should have it up?
- 13:02Speaker 3: But it's thirtieth anniversary, thirty anniversary up Speed nineteen hundred
- 13:07Speaker 3: and ninety four, and we decided we had to get
- 13:10Speaker 3: just the lettiest of lead foots here with us today,
- 13:14Speaker 3: the men who couldn't.
- 13:15Speaker 1: He couldn't go under fifty miles per hour even if
- 13:18Speaker 1: he wanted to. It would be im possible. He y
- 13:21Speaker 1: on implausible. Wait, that's probably should be the other way.
- 13:26Speaker 1: It doesn't matter.
- 13:27Speaker 3: But welcoming back to the pod for an actual fun one.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Let's have it for airic pat node. What's up?
- 13:35Speaker 5: Pat?
- 13:35Speaker 1: Note?
- 13:35Speaker 4: How you doing?
- 13:36Speaker 3: Buddy?
- 13:38Speaker 5: Doing good? I just started this so I'll get more animated.
- 13:44Speaker 3: Good Watch out for the listeners he's drinking Celsius. It's
- 13:49Speaker 3: got some caffeine in there.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I'm scared. I'm scared on your behalf strawberry lemonade. Oh
- 13:55Speaker 1: that sounds nice. Caffeine. Are we starting? Uh, that's MGS.
- 14:07Speaker 1: I have to measure because I'm I have a problem
- 14:09Speaker 1: if I drink too much of it.
- 14:10Speaker 5: Like what he already does, like diarrheo problem.
- 14:14Speaker 3: It's more like just sort of thing.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Well that actually is omnipresent. Mine is I just I
- 14:21Speaker 1: kool aid man through walls if I have too much?
- 14:24Speaker 1: I just.
- 14:27Speaker 5: Two hundred milligrams.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Oh my god, there's a lot.
- 14:32Speaker 3: You're going to be up until tomorrow.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Maybe not, though you might have quite the tolerance. I
- 14:40Speaker 1: also only drink it on weekends, So what do I know.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Dude, it's going to feel like you're on speed.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Look at you? Pretty good at stuff, all right. Yeah,
- 14:52Speaker 1: I'm so happy that we have you on for just
- 14:55Speaker 1: a fun, fancy, free movie for once.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Rather than I usually have you on the heavy dramas.
- 15:01Speaker 1: Yeah, which is great.
- 15:03Speaker 4: And and and then we did Saving Private Riot.
- 15:07Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah those are both great. No, this is fun.
- 15:09Speaker 5: It was. It was a great excuse to go back
- 15:12Speaker 5: and watch a classic and the night before I watched this.
- 15:14Speaker 5: I'm not watching a lot of movies lately, but the
- 15:17Speaker 5: night before I watched this. My my daughter who's fourteen,
- 15:20Speaker 5: is in like this just for Kicks Elite Kick Team Dance.
- 15:24Speaker 5: Oh yeah, And they had the whole team come over
- 15:28Speaker 5: to our house for like a team builder, and the
- 15:30Speaker 5: coach was there. They set up tents in the backyard,
- 15:34Speaker 5: and I was getting kind of bored of it. You know,
- 15:36Speaker 5: it's girls dance, you know. I'm like, okay, I'm all
- 15:39Speaker 5: ready to go upstairs. And but then the coach is like, well,
- 15:41Speaker 5: we're gonna watch a movie. And so I've got this
- 15:43Speaker 5: nice movie set up down here, so I figured out
- 15:46Speaker 5: how to get you know, actually, I was just like, well,
- 15:48Speaker 5: I can pay for it on Prime whatever. Like, what
- 15:50Speaker 5: are you guys watching? She's like Rudy. I'm like, nice,
- 15:55Speaker 5: you're watching Rudy.
- 15:59Speaker 4: Watching Rudy.
- 16:00Speaker 5: I don't want to watch the first ten minutes because
- 16:01Speaker 5: it's been a long time. And then ten minutes turned
- 16:04Speaker 5: into thirty minutes and then.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Oh, I'm like crying.
- 16:06Speaker 5: I love that. And I know this is not the
- 16:11Speaker 5: podcast about Rudy, but but I've been surprised a couple
- 16:14Speaker 5: of times when I watch old movies and like that
- 16:17Speaker 5: movie was.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Great, like it aged well, yeah, like legit, it's still good.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 5: And I had built misconceptions about the movie that i'd
- 16:25Speaker 5: written back into it and realized like, oh, that movie
- 16:28Speaker 5: really wasn't about that at all. So like Rudy, I
- 16:31Speaker 5: thought it was kind of more about like a loser,
- 16:33Speaker 5: and that was like they they inflated his expectations full sleep.
- 16:38Speaker 5: But no, like, at no point in the movie did
- 16:39Speaker 5: anybody ever give him any aspersions that he was good enough.
- 16:43Speaker 5: And he knew that too, And I was like, this
- 16:45Speaker 5: movie's great, like it's super original, really good. But anyway,
- 16:48Speaker 5: I digress. So I've watched two kind of nineties movies.
- 16:51Speaker 3: Just yeah, I think we just did that one last year.
- 16:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and that was the first time I'd ever seen it,
- 16:57Speaker 1: And so I'm with you.
- 16:58Speaker 3: That was fun.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It was so right. I loved it so much. I
- 17:01Speaker 1: cried and cried. Well, so poor who's the wild man?
- 17:06Speaker 2: No?
- 17:10Speaker 3: This random line ever, Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 1: He just screams it out during the that's the game
- 17:15Speaker 1: he gets in on, right, He's just freaking out so funny, funny.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Is there any cast tie ins to speed there. I
- 17:22Speaker 5: don't know. Rob would be the one person that.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Notes I don't think so.
- 17:28Speaker 5: Sanchi Bullet could have worked as his girlfriend in the beginning.
- 17:33Speaker 3: We could do like a six degrees pretty easily. But yeah,
- 17:37Speaker 3: I don't think there's anybody in Speed.
- 17:39Speaker 1: That's not directly Yep, we'll think about that as we
- 17:45Speaker 1: go on. Okay, we're here to talk about speed. It's
- 17:49Speaker 1: thirtieth anniversary, and Rob, while we're thinking about that, would
- 17:52Speaker 1: you get us started with just a rough SYNOPSI sure?
- 17:57Speaker 3: Here we go. Los Angeles police officer back angers retired
- 18:01Speaker 3: bomb squad member Howard Pain by foiling his attempt at
- 18:06Speaker 3: taking hostages in revenge. Pain arms a bus with a
- 18:10Speaker 3: bomb that will explode if it drops below fifty miles
- 18:12Speaker 3: per hour. With the help of spunky passenger Annie Jack
- 18:17Speaker 3: and his partner Harry, try to save the people on
- 18:19Speaker 3: the bus before the bomb goes off, while also trying
- 18:22Speaker 3: to figure out how Pain is monitoring them.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Oh makes her.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Spunky internet energy. There's no way he had the technology
- 18:35Speaker 5: to beam who could do that back then?
- 18:41Speaker 1: Like?
- 18:41Speaker 5: I suppose he's smart though? Yeah?
- 18:43Speaker 3: Was he was really smart?
- 18:46Speaker 1: He had a big bus with a giant battery so
- 18:48Speaker 1: that would help because the battery itself would be a
- 18:51Speaker 1: big issue.
- 18:52Speaker 3: I suppose these are things I did not worry about
- 18:57Speaker 3: at all while watching this movie.
- 18:59Speaker 1: That's fair. That's let's go to Rotten Tomatoes and hear
- 19:03Speaker 1: what they have to say. Critics have this coming in
- 19:05Speaker 1: gang at a absolute rock solid ninety five.
- 19:10Speaker 5: Percent for that kind of a film.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I was shocked, me too. I was like, holy cow,
- 19:16Speaker 3: it was flippy flopped me too.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And I mean I love that they you know, went there,
- 19:22Speaker 1: but holy cow, that just seems really really hard for them.
- 19:26Speaker 1: And alternatively, the next one seems lower than I would
- 19:29Speaker 1: have thought. Audience members have it at seventy seven percent,
- 19:32Speaker 1: which really filled me with the fiery rage.
- 19:35Speaker 4: I don't know why.
- 19:36Speaker 1: I was just like, I will turn this podcast around
- 19:39Speaker 1: right now, you know, like I swear to you.
- 19:43Speaker 5: Do you guys? But no, I've always wondered about this.
- 19:45Speaker 5: So Rotten Tomatoes has only been around probably like twenty
- 19:47Speaker 5: years or something, right, Yeah, So they what do they
- 19:50Speaker 5: do for the the old movies that they didn't? I mean,
- 19:54Speaker 5: do they just go through old reviews and call them
- 19:57Speaker 5: and then put them up or do people re review them?
- 20:00Speaker 1: I think a lot of you review them a lot.
- 20:02Speaker 3: It's like all three reviews, at least the ones that
- 20:05Speaker 3: you see on Rotten Tomatoes, and people like doing the
- 20:08Speaker 3: twentieth Anniverse three or the thirtieth Anniversa. They never ever
- 20:12Speaker 3: put in the original reviews.
- 20:14Speaker 1: God, it's gonna be into some weirdness. I feel like
- 20:17Speaker 1: sometimes you know, or like, yeah, but it's fun. It's
- 20:21Speaker 1: just fun to check out. Well, what do we think?
- 20:24Speaker 1: Should we go in and talk about what we think
- 20:25Speaker 1: of this movie? Yeah, time for our hot take?
- 20:28Speaker 4: Hot take?
- 20:29Speaker 1: Oh, it's earned me fifty five over fifty.
- 20:36Speaker 3: Oh, that's a hot take. That's a hot take.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I'll go first. I love this movie a ton. I
- 20:45Speaker 1: think it is an absolute delight. I think this might
- 20:47Speaker 1: have been the first like movie in a theater action
- 20:52Speaker 1: movie that I was like, whoa, this blew my mind.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Saw in the theater.
- 20:57Speaker 5: That's cool. I did not.
- 21:00Speaker 3: I don't think I did.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Now I'm scared of that I didn't, because actually that
- 21:03Speaker 1: timeline really doesn't make sense, does it.
- 21:05Speaker 3: I mean you could have, but I might eight Yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 3: I would have been young, yeah, because I would have
- 21:12Speaker 3: been like a dollar theater four years later too.
- 21:14Speaker 1: I don't know sure, possibly I guess. I don't have
- 21:19Speaker 1: a specific memory of that, but I just remember we
- 21:21Speaker 1: definitely had the VHS which I watched a lot, and
- 21:26Speaker 1: I just remember being just like action packed. I thought
- 21:28Speaker 1: it was really fun. It was one of the first
- 21:32Speaker 1: for me in retrospect, like Bad Guys, that you were like,
- 21:36Speaker 1: he's not a hundred percent wrong, you know what I mean,
- 21:39Speaker 1: which is one of my favorite parts of Bad Guys.
- 21:42Speaker 1: I mean, upon this watch, that's a pretty thin argument.
- 21:47Speaker 1: You know, he's just kind of evil to be evil.
- 21:50Speaker 1: But I was like, I felt, I don't know, some
- 21:53Speaker 1: kinship for him. I don't know why, maybe because he
- 21:55Speaker 1: had served or lost a thumb, I don't know, but
- 21:59Speaker 1: I really liked him throughout it. And it turns out
- 22:03Speaker 1: this gram Yost guy who wrote this or helped write this, Yeah,
- 22:06Speaker 1: is an absolute killer because he wrote a ton of
- 22:09Speaker 1: stuff I love. He justified as the big thing that
- 22:12Speaker 1: I know that he.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Was a part of a lot of big TV stuff.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah, Band of Brothers, The Pacific Sneaky Pete Silo. He
- 22:21Speaker 1: wrote that mission of Mars movie that I really liked
- 22:24Speaker 1: back in the day. I don't know how it holds up,
- 22:26Speaker 1: but I really deeply liked that, and yeah, he's just
- 22:30Speaker 1: wrote a ton of stuff that I think is really fun,
- 22:32Speaker 1: and I think that comes through in this It's a
- 22:34Speaker 1: super interesting plot, obviously, full of a ton of action
- 22:38Speaker 1: and stuff, and just driven by two just like huge
- 22:43Speaker 1: stars in the making and really caught both of them on,
- 22:47Speaker 1: you know, the early parts of their stardom.
- 22:49Speaker 5: I feel like, I just love.
- 22:51Speaker 1: This movie, and I think it holds up remarkably well.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Like not a ton of stuff doesn't age well in it, yea,
- 22:58Speaker 1: as far as both effects and you know, like lines
- 23:01Speaker 1: and weirdness and stuff. I mean, it's just pretty fun
- 23:05Speaker 1: for the whole way through and super intense and super
- 23:08Speaker 1: action y and just a good time. So yeah, but
- 23:12Speaker 1: my hottest take is, oh, this man is basically a
- 23:15Speaker 1: super cop. He can diffuse a bomb, he can go
- 23:19Speaker 1: on a dolly under a bus at fifty five miles
- 23:22Speaker 1: an hour, but he, for the life of him, he
- 23:25Speaker 1: can't pick a pair of handcuffs at the end of
- 23:27Speaker 1: the movie, and that seems a little silly to me. Like,
- 23:31Speaker 1: I get it, they were limited time and all that,
- 23:33Speaker 1: and it led to a really great, you know, obviously shot,
- 23:37Speaker 1: so I understand being like, well, this is the cooler
- 23:39Speaker 1: of the options. But it seems a little silly to
- 23:42Speaker 1: one not be able to break that bar or at
- 23:45Speaker 1: least pick the you know, the handcuff or something.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Mcgu would take it. The little subway map out of
- 23:52Speaker 5: the got this.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean the guy caught himself from, you know,
- 23:56Speaker 1: flying under the bus with a like a knife that
- 23:59Speaker 1: he put into a gas You can figure some stuff out.
- 24:02Speaker 1: But I guess he didn't have his knife anymore. Maybe
- 24:04Speaker 1: that was the It was a screwdriver. Screwdriver, you're right,
- 24:08Speaker 1: that's pretty The knife was earlier in the elevator door.
- 24:13Speaker 1: He shown himself to be very resourceful, except handcuffs. They're
- 24:16Speaker 1: his one true kryptonite. Yep, yep. Everybody's got to have
- 24:20Speaker 1: a weakness. But yeah, that's my silly hot take. Take it.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Nicely done, buddy. I also love this movie. You can't
- 24:28Speaker 3: spell speed without Peede, and that's what I did in
- 24:31Speaker 3: my pants because of the NonStop action.
- 24:36Speaker 1: It really just rolls off the tongue.
- 24:38Speaker 3: I wrote it. I wrote it down. It made me
- 24:40Speaker 3: laugh a lot. Thank you. I had not seen this
- 24:45Speaker 3: movie in so long, but I loved it When I
- 24:48Speaker 3: was a kid. I watched it so many times, and
- 24:51Speaker 3: I do have a specific time that I watched it.
- 24:54Speaker 3: I can remember that I had already seen it. But
- 24:57Speaker 3: we were on an airplane watching this movie. And this
- 25:00Speaker 3: was back in the day when they just had the screen,
- 25:03Speaker 3: like everybody had to watch the same screen, and like
- 25:06Speaker 3: the front of the t and I think we were
- 25:09Speaker 3: going to Disney.
- 25:10Speaker 1: World ed to take the rate at R stuff.
- 25:14Speaker 3: That is what I was going to say. I will
- 25:17Speaker 3: never forget because if you know, at the end, the
- 25:20Speaker 3: bus goes and blows up the airplane, and they didn't
- 25:26Speaker 3: show any of the airport at all planes, so they
- 25:33Speaker 3: just they just they get done. They show them getting
- 25:38Speaker 3: off the bus and that's it. We don't know what
- 25:40Speaker 3: happens to that bus at all. Weird, which is pretty great.
- 25:46Speaker 3: That made me laugh.
- 25:47Speaker 1: But it's choices we make as a society about what
- 25:50Speaker 1: is cool and what isn't are just so fascinating. It's weird.
- 25:53Speaker 3: I mean, you don't want to watch you don't want
- 25:55Speaker 3: to watch that on a plane. You don't want to
- 25:56Speaker 3: watch Titanic on a cruise ship. You know you don't
- 26:00Speaker 3: want to do that. But this was directed by Ian Debunt,
- 26:06Speaker 3: who followed this up with Twister, which and then a
- 26:11Speaker 3: really really bad speed sequel and didn't do a whole
- 26:16Speaker 3: lot after this.
- 26:17Speaker 1: He dide, have either of you seen that? I know
- 26:19Speaker 1: we're gonna talk. I never saw.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Hot garbage.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Watched it now?
- 26:26Speaker 3: No, well maybe maybe we just make fun of it. Sure,
- 26:30Speaker 3: really bad, but this really fun cast. It's what catapulted
- 26:35Speaker 3: Sandy be to start him. Felt like she was everywhere
- 26:38Speaker 3: after this, so much action. It felt like as soon
- 26:42Speaker 3: as one problem was figured out, then there was something
- 26:44Speaker 3: else they had to figure out, and it was just
- 26:46Speaker 3: high energy stressed me out. I also thought it held
- 26:50Speaker 3: up very well. My hot take. The jumping the freeway
- 26:54Speaker 3: thing is the most ridiculous thing of all time.
- 26:57Speaker 5: When you actually see the scope of that, it doesn't.
- 27:01Speaker 1: Just so much bigger than fifty feet, so much bigger
- 27:03Speaker 1: that they shows, and just.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Once it gets off of the one side, like ramps up,
- 27:10Speaker 3: you're like, what are we doing?
- 27:11Speaker 1: What we do?
- 27:12Speaker 4: The throat is built like at all, there's no ramp.
- 27:16Speaker 3: If there was a ramp, maybe there's not, And I
- 27:23Speaker 3: I've never been able to get over that.
- 27:26Speaker 1: That's when you just like it either drives you crazy
- 27:28Speaker 1: or you go like, okay, we're going to ignore that.
- 27:31Speaker 1: One because they're so silly, there's no plausible and.
- 27:35Speaker 5: Maybe if they could have like superimposed a big moon
- 27:38Speaker 5: behind it and it could have crossed.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Them would have been cool, nice, slightly more believable, and
- 27:45Speaker 1: some music.
- 27:45Speaker 3: In the background. Also, that music seemed really familiar, like
- 27:51Speaker 3: I felt like it was in other movies.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 27:55Speaker 3: I thought that something.
- 27:56Speaker 1: It was weird.
- 27:57Speaker 5: My daughter Jane, she's twelve, kept on saying how much
- 28:00Speaker 5: she liked the music. It was weird. It's not something
- 28:03Speaker 5: that she would normally say, but the music stuck out
- 28:05Speaker 5: to her, and so I did listen to it, and
- 28:08Speaker 5: it was It's a good it's pretty good film soundtrack
- 28:11Speaker 5: in terms of it doesn't date the movie much, like right,
- 28:14Speaker 5: it was, yeah, pretty good. But yeah, I don't know what.
- 28:17Speaker 1: It's super similar to.
- 28:19Speaker 5: Something like, Yes, I mean Howard like if like if
- 28:22Speaker 5: you know Howard Shore like he copies himself all the time.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Yeah, I think they all kind of do.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Wait, is that who did this music?
- 28:29Speaker 5: I don't know, I know a guy that something Like
- 28:33Speaker 5: the first time I watched the movie Glory, I love
- 28:35Speaker 5: the soundtrack, and then I'm watching Titanic and I'm like
- 28:38Speaker 5: that exactly same motif. It's like all over the Titanic
- 28:42Speaker 5: that he used in Glory and he's like, yeah, I'm
- 28:44Speaker 5: just it worked in that one. I'm just going to
- 28:46Speaker 5: use it again.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Sure, fun fun, Howard Shore. Fact, I'm in like the
- 28:51Speaker 1: top half a percent of Spotify listeners to Howard Shor's
- 28:56Speaker 1: music in like the yearly rap because he does the
- 28:59Speaker 1: Lord of the Rings.
- 29:01Speaker 3: Sure, that's the only that makes sense.
- 29:02Speaker 1: And I listened to them a lot.
- 29:04Speaker 3: My other hot take that I had is it is
- 29:08Speaker 3: one of the worst opening credits ever. It's just the
- 29:12Speaker 3: scrolling down the elevator.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Shaft and it was weird.
- 29:15Speaker 3: It felt like it was a thousand floors. It just
- 29:19Speaker 3: kept going. I was like, we're not looking at anything else,
- 29:24Speaker 3: like kind of anything.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Nothing, nothing else at all is that?
- 29:29Speaker 5: And it didn't, I mean you did, They didn't. Even
- 29:31Speaker 5: they don't make any variety. It's the same text, same.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Spot, same spot. Absolutely, there wasn't even a lot of
- 29:38Speaker 1: music happening, right, No, they did the whole score.
- 29:41Speaker 3: That was the only thing that was keeping it okay.
- 29:44Speaker 3: But no, it just it went on for like five minutes.
- 29:49Speaker 3: So that Yeah, those are my two biggest gripes.
- 29:52Speaker 1: But this movie was like the slowest part of the movie.
- 29:54Speaker 3: It was brutal.
- 29:55Speaker 1: That's amazing, brutal. Hot take buddy, thank you, thank you?
- 30:00Speaker 4: So that yeah yeah, well yeah yeah.
- 30:02Speaker 5: I was surprised and delighted that it was as good
- 30:05Speaker 5: as I remembered it and as fun as I remembered it.
- 30:07Speaker 5: I watched it with two of my kids, so that
- 30:10Speaker 5: was fun. So they also really loved it. Jane loved
- 30:14Speaker 5: it less than Esther, but they both watched the whole
- 30:16Speaker 5: movie and we had a lot of fun just watching
- 30:19Speaker 5: it together. And I was concerned a little bit, like
- 30:22Speaker 5: our you know how it is with our movies now
- 30:24Speaker 5: that we're in our forties. Yeah, Like you're just like,
- 30:27Speaker 5: how could this movie be R? Like in my brain, yes,
- 30:30Speaker 5: I can't. I couldn't remember a single thing about speed.
- 30:34Speaker 5: I guess there must have been violence in there, and
- 30:35Speaker 5: sure enough.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Oh yeah, there was some pretty good, pretty good.
- 30:38Speaker 5: I mean the first scene screwsdriver in the air, like, oh, okay, yeah,
- 30:43Speaker 5: this is our, isn't it.
- 30:44Speaker 1: It's also hard because R has a really vast range.
- 30:48Speaker 5: I think, what you can do have bombs in the
- 30:51Speaker 5: right R or whatever, right, But no, they loved it.
- 30:55Speaker 5: I one thing I was surprised about just because I
- 30:58Speaker 5: think I probably only watched it once maybe twice. Is
- 31:01Speaker 5: I'm waiting, like I'm watching the clock. I'm like, we're
- 31:05Speaker 5: not even close to a bus yet, and it's like
- 31:08Speaker 5: thirty minutes there, just like I don't even remember any
- 31:11Speaker 5: of that, Like I just remember this is a fun.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Movie about I don't remember.
- 31:15Speaker 5: I did not remember any subway thing, like in my mind,
- 31:20Speaker 5: it was just a.
- 31:21Speaker 3: Movie about forty minutes.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Yeah, so that was a surprise. Now, not that I
- 31:26Speaker 5: didn't like the extra part. Its probably made for a
- 31:29Speaker 5: little bit more variety for the movie or whatever. But
- 31:31Speaker 5: and the thing too that stuck out to me is like, wow,
- 31:34Speaker 5: Sandra Bullock is so cute.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Oh my gosh with her.
- 31:39Speaker 5: When I was fourteen, I mean, I thought, but she's
- 31:42Speaker 5: an older woman, right, and like right now, I'm just like, man,
- 31:45Speaker 5: she is so adorable. You know, she's twenty nine. I
- 31:48Speaker 5: looked up. I was wondering how to kind of see
- 31:52Speaker 5: and want like watch Sandra Bullock on the screen as like,
- 31:56Speaker 5: you know, a young woman. Now I'm just like, wow,
- 31:58Speaker 5: no wonder she was like a starlet because.
- 31:59Speaker 4: She was torrible, no way, the way.
- 32:02Speaker 5: She was so coy and cute with Keano, and their
- 32:05Speaker 5: chemistry was really good in the very small moments that
- 32:08Speaker 5: they did, like you could just tell there was something
- 32:11Speaker 5: kind of real or maybe natural, just and yeah, And
- 32:14Speaker 5: I just appreciated that. And I don't think I would
- 32:16Speaker 5: have noticed that as a kid totally. So I love
- 32:19Speaker 5: that and that just worked. And I mean I was
- 32:22Speaker 5: just grinning from here to ear most of the movie,
- 32:25Speaker 5: just with all the different you know, one thing going
- 32:27Speaker 5: wrong and going.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Right to the next.
- 32:29Speaker 5: Probably my take is like they're like, for at least
- 32:34Speaker 5: half of the time that that bus was going fifty
- 32:37Speaker 5: miles an hour, it was really going twenty miles an hour, right,
- 32:41Speaker 5: These shots like she's she's barreling through these barrels, she's
- 32:45Speaker 5: like taking a ninety degree turn, yeah, scraping cars like
- 32:50Speaker 5: there's no I mean, it just told me what I
- 32:52Speaker 5: thought wasn't even close to looking like the bus is
- 32:54Speaker 5: going fifty miles an hour, right.
- 32:56Speaker 1: Yeah, makes it the freeway going like thirty five, And
- 32:59Speaker 1: I feel like I'm gonna take you.
- 33:02Speaker 5: That was where I really got. I guess that's my
- 33:05Speaker 5: that they did not help me to suspend my disbelief
- 33:08Speaker 5: in those scenes.
- 33:09Speaker 1: Or whatever it's pretty great, I guess.
- 33:13Speaker 5: And the other thing I was I was getting this
- 33:16Speaker 5: movie I think mixed up or also it was just
- 33:18Speaker 5: in a genre that was really fun in the nineties.
- 33:20Speaker 5: I'm thinking, like in the line of Fire or these
- 33:22Speaker 5: crafty crafty like diabolical but smart, you know, engineers of
- 33:27Speaker 5: these clever puzzle bombs or whatever. I just think that's
- 33:31Speaker 5: a lot of fun. And I don't know if I'm
- 33:33Speaker 5: supposed to still do them now, but that just seemed
- 33:36Speaker 5: like there was there's a lot of those back in
- 33:38Speaker 5: the day, and it was just fun to see that again.
- 33:40Speaker 5: And then Hopper was great. Love him, yes, but I
- 33:44Speaker 5: feel like maybe that was one of his last really
- 33:46Speaker 5: good films.
- 33:47Speaker 1: It seems like it might be. That's a good point.
- 33:50Speaker 5: But anyway, Yeah, I loved it. I don't think i'd
- 33:53Speaker 5: give it a ninety five on the Rotten Tomato meter exactly.
- 33:55Speaker 4: But probably mid eighties eighty.
- 34:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm with you.
- 34:02Speaker 1: Hot takes, hot takes all around. Let's go through this
- 34:06Speaker 1: one might be this one might be tough. Here, let's
- 34:09Speaker 1: pick our favorite acting performance. Let's name the dude.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Dude.
- 34:14Speaker 6: I'm the dude, so that's what you call me, you know,
- 34:18Speaker 6: that or his dude or duder or you know, El
- 34:22Speaker 6: dud Reno. If you're not into the whole brevity.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Thing, note, I think you should go first on this one.
- 34:28Speaker 5: I think I think I'll give it to Sandriple, like
- 34:31Speaker 5: just because I don't know. Again, just there was this
- 34:35Speaker 5: palatable chemistry, this nervousness, but also this budding kind of
- 34:41Speaker 5: interest in this cute dude that gets on the bus.
- 34:43Speaker 5: And I mean, she she made me care probably more
- 34:47Speaker 5: than anyone else in there about the characters, and she
- 34:51Speaker 5: made me care about her. But then even she her
- 34:54Speaker 5: extended care to everybody on the bus, the older woman
- 34:57Speaker 5: who jumped off, like even just helped to get me invested.
- 35:02Speaker 5: And so an opposite like Kanu Reefs. It's not like
- 35:07Speaker 5: a terrible performance or anything. But I don't know if
- 35:09Speaker 5: you guys noticed this, but in between the elevator scene
- 35:12Speaker 5: and like the bust scene, there's that sort of palette cleansing.
- 35:16Speaker 1: Like oh yeah, yeah, and all that.
- 35:19Speaker 5: There's this moment where they all like guffa together, they
- 35:21Speaker 5: all laugh, and if that Kanu Reefs is in the
- 35:24Speaker 5: back and like he puts out the most pathetic like
- 35:29Speaker 5: contrived actors laugh, you've ever seen in the back and
- 35:31Speaker 5: I'm like, I don't think he knows how to do
- 35:33Speaker 5: like happy, Like he's like Orlando Blue. It's like serious
- 35:37Speaker 5: or it's crap or whatever. But I'll give it to Sandra.
- 35:43Speaker 4: I am with you.
- 35:45Speaker 3: I'm gonna I would also give this to Sandra Bullock.
- 35:48Speaker 3: She was charming and funny, and she had some really
- 35:51Speaker 3: great reactions to things like obviously when she hits that carriage,
- 35:57Speaker 3: she's like devastated.
- 35:59Speaker 6: Man.
- 36:00Speaker 3: So but and when she realizes that she's like stuck
- 36:07Speaker 3: to the subway car and that it's going to crash,
- 36:11Speaker 3: just like frantic like trying to get get out. I
- 36:15Speaker 3: just always thought was so impressive. I thought she was
- 36:19Speaker 3: really good in this, and I thought she took that
- 36:22Speaker 3: role to like a higher level than it even really
- 36:25Speaker 3: needed to be. I thought she really killed it. So
- 36:29Speaker 3: I'm with you and Keanu. Keanu is just being Keanu
- 36:33Speaker 3: in this like early nineties Kanu dude. At one point,
- 36:38Speaker 3: like when the guy has the gun in there, he's like, Hey,
- 36:42Speaker 3: we're just.
- 36:43Speaker 4: A couple of cool guys. Just like what, I don't
- 36:48Speaker 4: care about your cry.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I don't care, just like, oh, this could put a
- 36:54Speaker 1: hole in the world.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Just like Keanu so cheesy.
- 37:00Speaker 4: I love it so much.
- 37:04Speaker 3: Early did not work for me very much, but Sandy
- 37:07Speaker 3: b all the way, what do you got Bukes? Uh?
- 37:10Speaker 1: Early Keanu did work for me, but it is a
- 37:12Speaker 1: clean sweep for Miss Sandy B which is so fun.
- 37:16Speaker 1: Good work everybody. Uh, basically echoing all the things you
- 37:19Speaker 1: guys said, this could have easily been like sort of
- 37:22Speaker 1: an eye candy part I feel like, and she made
- 37:25Speaker 1: it so much more than that. She's obviously beautiful in
- 37:28Speaker 1: her own right too, like we said, but man, she
- 37:32Speaker 1: brings a lot to this. And I specifically liked the
- 37:34Speaker 1: scene where Keanu freaks out after his partner is that
- 37:39Speaker 1: you know, has died and all that good stuff. She
- 37:42Speaker 1: reels him back in after he's been doing that to her,
- 37:46Speaker 1: and I liked that. I really liked that scene. I
- 37:48Speaker 1: bought that from both of them a ton. And yeah,
- 37:52Speaker 1: just echoing what you guys said, like, I think she
- 37:54Speaker 1: brings a gravity to oh hey, I'm pretty to this
- 38:00Speaker 1: that didn't need to be there, but was so welcomed.
- 38:03Speaker 1: I just really liked that a lot, I thought, and
- 38:05Speaker 1: I thought all of her reactions for the most part,
- 38:07Speaker 1: were very believable because she's just like what is happening,
- 38:10Speaker 1: you know, like like and just exasperated and all that.
- 38:14Speaker 3: So it's such a wildcat.
- 38:17Speaker 5: Ah.
- 38:17Speaker 1: I love that. I love stuff like that where they're
- 38:21Speaker 1: smart and like pick out that little detail so fun.
- 38:24Speaker 5: I picked that up, like I heard that word Dennis
- 38:27Speaker 5: Hopper using it, and it did. It did stick out
- 38:29Speaker 5: in my mind. It's like, why would he say that word?
- 38:32Speaker 5: But it's like he's quirky and Jesus calls her a
- 38:35Speaker 5: wildcat because he's a creeper or whatever. But yeah, then
- 38:38Speaker 5: it's like, oh, okay, that's a little It's so wonderful.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I love it.
- 38:41Speaker 3: It's good. Well, he was one of those supporting characters.
- 38:44Speaker 3: I think we should go to our next segment here
- 38:47Speaker 3: and let's pick the g.
- 38:48Speaker 1: G whichever this one panode best supporting?
- 38:54Speaker 5: Right?
- 38:55Speaker 1: Yeah? Correct?
- 38:57Speaker 5: So I don't know one of my I this one
- 39:02Speaker 5: we won't be we won't be unanimous on I don't think,
- 39:05Speaker 5: because I mean, I don't even know if it qualifies
- 39:08Speaker 5: because of the time. But one of the interactions and
- 39:11Speaker 5: one of the characters that I really loved as well
- 39:13Speaker 5: in this that I don't know why it stuck out
- 39:18Speaker 5: to me. It's just a fun character. But that gigantor
- 39:21Speaker 5: Ortiz guy. Yeah, yeah, I don't know, like that's a
- 39:25Speaker 5: trope of a character, I think for sure. But there's
- 39:28Speaker 5: just all these little things about him and how he
- 39:30Speaker 5: kind of kept the calm and his sort of like
- 39:32Speaker 5: eye rolling, like I can't believe these people. But then
- 39:36Speaker 5: there's this also this little scene too where when he's
- 39:40Speaker 5: getting off the bus, there's like this moment of eye
- 39:43Speaker 5: contact between him and Ken where I just appreciated They're like, hey,
- 39:47Speaker 5: we just went through a lot, buddy, and we had
- 39:49Speaker 5: each other's back and and are you okay like that?
- 39:53Speaker 5: That just is a little tiny thing, but I really
- 39:55Speaker 5: appreciated that little touch.
- 39:58Speaker 1: There, nice kind of drama bonding stuff there.
- 40:02Speaker 3: His name is Carlos Carrasco.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Also in the great movie Blood in Blood Out,
- 40:08Speaker 1: if anyone, it's not really that.
- 40:10Speaker 5: I think a little bit or I kind of had
- 40:12Speaker 5: an actual outlaw burst of laughing when he went Keana
- 40:15Speaker 5: the first time the guy's in this in a scene
- 40:17Speaker 5: he's like chickan Tory calls him. Yeah, I just that
- 40:20Speaker 5: made me laugh.
- 40:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:22Speaker 5: I wonder if that was in the scriptor cantor.
- 40:24Speaker 1: It's such a weird bowl. Yeah, it's like big guy.
- 40:29Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know, pal. Yeah, I love that. That's great.
- 40:34Speaker 3: That's a good one. That's a fun one. I'm gonna
- 40:36Speaker 3: go a different way too. It's not that crazy. He's
- 40:40Speaker 3: definitely a supporting character, bigger role. I'm gonna think Jeff
- 40:43Speaker 3: Daniels is Harry great And one thing that I think
- 40:47Speaker 3: is so interesting and I want somebody to figure this out.
- 40:51Speaker 3: But in nineteen ninety four he played Harry in Speed
- 40:55Speaker 3: and Harry in Dumb and Dummer did the same YEA
- 41:00Speaker 3: be hilarious if we find out that that is the
- 41:02Speaker 3: same guy or something.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Also like a big year for Harry's in movies because
- 41:07Speaker 1: that was also the Arnold's name and true lies.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Harry Trasker Tasker.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Ye. But yeah, that's funny.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Yeah, he was funny in this and I will always
- 41:25Speaker 3: remember his reaction when he sees that the bomb is
- 41:29Speaker 3: about to go off. And I actually just saw a
- 41:32Speaker 3: clip of him in an interview talking about that exact scene,
- 41:38Speaker 3: and he stole a bit from Scheider in Jaws. Roy
- 41:48Speaker 3: he when he he talked about when he saw Jaws
- 41:52Speaker 3: for the first time and they had the close up
- 41:54Speaker 3: on his face he just made sure that he clenched
- 41:58Speaker 3: his jaw and then when he saw it, he relaxed,
- 42:02Speaker 3: and its like, is really and that's exactly what Jeff
- 42:06Speaker 3: Daniels dies, and it's just enough and right when he
- 42:10Speaker 3: relaxes is when it happens, and it's just it was cool.
- 42:16Speaker 3: I just love that so much. But he was he
- 42:20Speaker 3: was really fun in this. He did do this weird
- 42:22Speaker 3: sniffing thing that was kind of bugging me throughout there.
- 42:28Speaker 3: He was just like, yeah, yep, just like it was
- 42:32Speaker 3: always it was.
- 42:34Speaker 1: It was weird. He did it a lot. There was
- 42:36Speaker 1: a deleted cocaine scene.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Maybe I don't know, I'm not shout.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I didn't even notice the sniffing. That's kind of fun. Yeah.
- 42:45Speaker 5: I like the idea that if they were made the
- 42:47Speaker 5: same ear and they're both Harry that Yeah, there's definitely
- 42:50Speaker 5: an opportunity to cut little scenes from Dumb and Dumber
- 42:53Speaker 5: Harry right to speed.
- 42:56Speaker 3: It could be fun.
- 42:56Speaker 5: We should.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Well, maybe Harry just goes into witness protection and that's
- 42:59Speaker 1: why he's kind of a duller. He's had half of
- 43:03Speaker 1: his brain blown off. Also why the cops pick him
- 43:05Speaker 1: at the end to help. He's got experience in the
- 43:09Speaker 1: Armed Forces.
- 43:10Speaker 3: It writes itself, nicely done, buddy, you're good. You're good
- 43:13Speaker 3: at this.
- 43:14Speaker 1: It's pretty fun. I don't know, I like it.
- 43:16Speaker 4: Uh.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I just want to take a second and say, Keanu
- 43:20Speaker 1: was great in this. I get it. He's not the
- 43:23Speaker 1: perfect actor, but I love him and I think he's
- 43:25Speaker 1: wonderful him. I'm not saying you don't. I just I
- 43:28Speaker 1: just want to just flowers for Keanu. He's He's the
- 43:32Speaker 1: cheesiest man on earth and I love every second of it. Personally.
- 43:35Speaker 3: I don't care about your crime. We're just too cool guys.
- 43:40Speaker 5: Too cool dudes. Man.
- 43:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it. I think it's so great and dumb.
- 43:46Speaker 1: I'm with you. Love that Alan ruck really small part
- 43:53Speaker 1: in this movie, but boy did I like that character
- 43:56Speaker 1: a lot. He was like it fun that yeah, for
- 44:00Speaker 1: a little levity and just like he's just kind of
- 44:03Speaker 1: a kind of a dufist, you know.
- 44:05Speaker 5: Uh.
- 44:06Speaker 1: He is what I feel like every time I travel
- 44:08Speaker 1: to a new place, Like I'm that guy and I'm
- 44:10Speaker 1: just like, I don't know, I'm having a great time,
- 44:12Speaker 1: but life is good. Yeah. I thought he was great
- 44:18Speaker 1: and then he he gets to do some like real
- 44:21Speaker 1: acting stuff, you know. Toward the end and all that.
- 44:24Speaker 1: I loved him and Ortiz at the end too, like
- 44:26Speaker 1: I got you, you know, and he's scared. I don't know.
- 44:29Speaker 1: It was fine, I did.
- 44:30Speaker 5: I did think for a minute though, like I wonder,
- 44:32Speaker 5: I wonder what it really felt like for him to
- 44:34Speaker 5: accept that role, Like can't be like the role that
- 44:38Speaker 5: you really want? You know?
- 44:40Speaker 1: Yeah, that's probably true, but he hadn't have done a
- 44:43Speaker 1: ton at that point, like after slowed down?
- 44:47Speaker 5: Right, Yeah, maybe not?
- 44:48Speaker 1: Does that seem fair? I don't know. So maybe he
- 44:50Speaker 1: was just like, sweet, I'm in I.
- 44:52Speaker 5: Got a big Hollywood movie. I don't care.
- 44:54Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but yeah, I'm with you. It is a
- 44:58Speaker 1: not a big role, but I thought he was. He
- 44:59Speaker 1: was really fun in it. I liked him. And then
- 45:03Speaker 1: Dennis oppernisper obviously.
- 45:06Speaker 3: I kind of thought people were gonna talk more about him.
- 45:07Speaker 1: He's amazing.
- 45:08Speaker 3: It was so good in this plays a really good
- 45:10Speaker 3: bad guy.
- 45:12Speaker 1: He does that thing. And I can remember noticing this
- 45:15Speaker 1: as a kid when he picks up Harry at the
- 45:18Speaker 1: beginning by his still it's so cool and badass. I
- 45:23Speaker 1: loved that so much as a kid. I was like, oh,
- 45:26Speaker 1: that's a bad guy move. You know so, and that
- 45:30Speaker 1: would hurt. So it hurts so bad.
- 45:34Speaker 3: You have the thumb. Yeah, but he always talked with
- 45:38Speaker 3: his hand on this side always. Yeah, it's like you
- 45:42Speaker 3: can still talk, just normal.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I'm so confused, misunderstand how important the thumb is to
- 45:50Speaker 1: the ears. Okay, and it's an opposite. It's a it's
- 45:53Speaker 1: a brain to brain. This thumb across the Okay, go
- 46:01Speaker 1: across pealogical deep dive?
- 46:06Speaker 5: Is this is this? Hoppers? Is this his like Marquee
- 46:09Speaker 5: bad Guy Roller? Does he have others? Because I feel
- 46:11Speaker 5: like he's had.
- 46:13Speaker 3: He's had others. I don't know if they were as
- 46:15Speaker 3: big as Speed though big bad Guy, I would I
- 46:19Speaker 3: would assume that.
- 46:20Speaker 5: Yeah, there's basically he's left two impressions on my brain,
- 46:23Speaker 5: and that's just speed.
- 46:26Speaker 1: Yeah. He was perfect in Hoosiers and I haven't seen Hoosiers,
- 46:29Speaker 1: so I know he's been in that one. I'm in.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I'm ready to watch it.
- 46:38Speaker 3: He was the bad guy in water World if you
- 46:40Speaker 3: remember he did this that.
- 46:43Speaker 1: Yeah, boy, I loved water World so much. I know
- 46:46Speaker 1: it was a big flop.
- 46:47Speaker 5: But speak for yourself. It was a great movie.
- 46:50Speaker 1: I sure liked it.
- 46:51Speaker 5: He didn't make any money.
- 46:52Speaker 1: Was that why it was a flop.
- 46:54Speaker 3: It was purely a box made money. It just didn't
- 46:58Speaker 3: make enough money.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Because it was so expensive.
- 47:01Speaker 3: They spent, so they spent all the money.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Also, Jack Black, very small cameo in that movie. If
- 47:06Speaker 1: I remember, right, you doriving one of the boats or something.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I digress. So when he was it, he was obviously
- 47:14Speaker 1: Koopa and Super Mario Brothers.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Really obviously.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean he was pretty good.
- 47:20Speaker 5: I liked that movie a lot more than Dennis Opper
- 47:23Speaker 5: was not Coopa and supermart Brothers because he was dead
- 47:25Speaker 5: by that time.
- 47:25Speaker 1: But one. Yeah, yeah, even Roger Rabbit. You probably weren't
- 47:34Speaker 1: watching it at that point. You were doing cool stuff
- 47:38Speaker 1: being a big kid.
- 47:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:40Speaker 1: True.
- 47:41Speaker 3: It some other people that were in this Joe Morton,
- 47:45Speaker 3: who was in Scandal for a really long time, but
- 47:49Speaker 3: he he was in Terminator to Judgment Day.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Yeah. He was a good cyberdyne guy, right, wasn't he exactly?
- 47:57Speaker 5: Yes?
- 47:59Speaker 3: Yes, I that Glenn Plumber as the Jaguar owner. Always
- 48:03Speaker 3: thought he was hilarious and then he was great, and
- 48:07Speaker 3: I think he pops up in the sequel.
- 48:09Speaker 5: Yeah, I saw a preview. I actually put him in
- 48:12Speaker 5: the preview, which is he gets his boat trash.
- 48:18Speaker 1: I'm definitely watching Cruise Control this weekend.
- 48:22Speaker 3: So good Beth Grant. She's an actress that's been in
- 48:26Speaker 3: a ton of things.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Yeah, is familiar.
- 48:29Speaker 5: Oh yeah, I'm looking at the cast too. That's the
- 48:31Speaker 5: woman who jumped, who was like, gets freaked out and tries.
- 48:33Speaker 3: To exactly guys. Yeah, and then apparently Richard Schiff, who
- 48:39Speaker 3: I loved from West Wing, was the train.
- 48:43Speaker 1: I wrote that down. I couldn't believe that. You see
- 48:45Speaker 1: his face for like a half a second.
- 48:48Speaker 3: I didn't. I didn't even notice that. I just looked
- 48:51Speaker 3: at the cast.
- 48:51Speaker 1: I did write that down.
- 48:53Speaker 5: Another character that I had recognized. It's and he's super
- 48:56Speaker 5: bit part. He's in the elevator and he's getting made
- 48:59Speaker 5: fun of for pressing the but whatever. Oh yeah, so
- 49:02Speaker 5: many things he's been in. What's that creepy movie guy shooting?
- 49:09Speaker 1: We just talked about that guy, didn't we rob.
- 49:11Speaker 5: He plays this really scary scene in an old movie.
- 49:14Speaker 5: I used to love Holland Drive. He's in it, Oh sure,
- 49:18Speaker 5: where he's in a diner and they're like, you have
- 49:20Speaker 5: to go see this guy. And it's that guy who
- 49:22Speaker 5: comes out and sees this weird monster. Do you remember
- 49:24Speaker 5: that scene? All?
- 49:26Speaker 1: Yeah, if I ever saw that Patrick sure's the guy's name.
- 49:31Speaker 5: Yeah, and he that that actual scene and the way
- 49:34Speaker 5: he looks in the scene, it's a really well casted
- 49:36Speaker 5: part for that small scene. And like I'll never forget
- 49:40Speaker 5: his face because of how scary that scene was.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Sure, Sure, that's crazy.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I love that. Yeah, well has he has one hundred
- 49:50Speaker 1: and forty one acting credit.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I feel like I see him all the time, Like
- 49:54Speaker 3: he usually plays like an uptight like business person in
- 49:59Speaker 3: so many things.
- 50:00Speaker 1: He has a great part in Feet. It's only a
- 50:03Speaker 1: one episode thing, but it's so funny. I don't know
- 50:06Speaker 1: if you guys ever watched Feet, but yeah, but I
- 50:08Speaker 1: don't remember. He's the photographer who can read lips in
- 50:11Speaker 1: the one episode. Okay, and it's such a funny part,
- 50:16Speaker 1: so silly and dumb.
- 50:18Speaker 5: But yeah.
- 50:19Speaker 1: Anyway, Well, I.
- 50:19Speaker 3: Think we should keep moving. I think we should go
- 50:22Speaker 3: and pick our favorite scene, and let's pick the dingus
- 50:26Speaker 3: the us.
- 50:27Speaker 4: So it is quite simple, really, dingus, Dingus.
- 50:31Speaker 1: I could talk about my dingus all night long.
- 50:34Speaker 3: This was very difficult for me. But did you have
- 50:36Speaker 3: a favorite scene in this?
- 50:38Speaker 1: Pat?
- 50:38Speaker 3: None?
- 50:39Speaker 5: Well, like I think it's I kind of ruined it
- 50:42Speaker 5: already from that one little tiny moment where gigant Or
- 50:47Speaker 5: leaves the bus. I just that's a throwaway thing, but
- 50:51Speaker 5: that was a really good one. Otherwise it's I could
- 50:54Speaker 5: just throw a few of those together and they're not
- 50:57Speaker 5: really scenes. But again, like I would agree with Bugler
- 51:01Speaker 5: that moment when when Keanu's losing it. Actually, yeah, Harry
- 51:05Speaker 5: dies and and like you can tell that Annie has
- 51:09Speaker 5: been really relying on his strength to kind of keep
- 51:12Speaker 5: her motivated, and she just like takes leadership from it,
- 51:16Speaker 5: just basically says no, no, no, no, no, we need you.
- 51:19Speaker 5: You know that. That to me was like that was
- 51:21Speaker 5: good acting and I really had my heart in it,
- 51:24Speaker 5: and like so that was one of my favorite scenes.
- 51:27Speaker 5: I think maybe that whole sequence, you know, Yeah.
- 51:30Speaker 1: I was going to say that that whole like him
- 51:32Speaker 1: going into the house. Then we get hoped, like he
- 51:35Speaker 1: didn't make it, you know, Jack, and he's like, yeah,
- 51:39Speaker 1: I love all that. Yeah that's a good call.
- 51:41Speaker 3: If we made that that whole sequence, I could definitely
- 51:44Speaker 3: get down on that same Yeah, same because I definitely
- 51:47Speaker 3: had the one Harry dies scene. Yeah, I just thought
- 51:51Speaker 3: that was so amazing. Another one that surprised me was honestly,
- 51:58Speaker 3: that elevator sequence in the beginning. It starts off to
- 52:02Speaker 3: a movie so well you get the pop quiz banter
- 52:07Speaker 3: that's throughout the whole movie. They talk about shooting the
- 52:11Speaker 3: hostage and then that's exactly what ends up happening. I
- 52:16Speaker 3: just thought that was such a great way to start
- 52:20Speaker 3: the movie. They do have a very gratuitous shot of
- 52:25Speaker 3: a woman's butt getting out of that elevator.
- 52:32Speaker 1: It's like, what are we doing?
- 52:33Speaker 3: And it's looked like he almost like put his hand
- 52:36Speaker 3: under the skirt, and I'm just like, what are we
- 52:38Speaker 3: Why is this in this movie? That that was a
- 52:41Speaker 3: little ridiculous because.
- 52:43Speaker 1: They don't do that again, Like that's the only you
- 52:46Speaker 1: know what I mean, That's.
- 52:50Speaker 5: Like another scene where maybe there could be a maybe.
- 52:56Speaker 3: But I just thought that.
- 52:58Speaker 5: Was a really goodler just has his hand up, He's like.
- 53:01Speaker 1: Yeah, good, there's one start.
- 53:04Speaker 4: Come on, let's get the rest of the movie.
- 53:08Speaker 1: Upset. That did stick out, for sure, it did. It
- 53:14Speaker 1: was It was interesting. I hate elevator where they get
- 53:20Speaker 1: out and people could get chopped in half.
- 53:23Speaker 3: It's a real she has a shoe that she was
- 53:27Speaker 3: up my shoe, Like, he get the shoot if you
- 53:31Speaker 3: just would have done it when you were told you could, Like,
- 53:34Speaker 3: what are we doing? We were freaking out.
- 53:37Speaker 5: It's like your potential Cinderella sequel.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Oh.
- 53:41Speaker 5: I like that.
- 53:42Speaker 1: We find the shoe later. Oh, that's fun. I'm in.
- 53:47Speaker 1: I love that is pump.
- 53:54Speaker 3: That's good. We're just cool, too cool, We're just cool.
- 53:57Speaker 1: Guys love it. The bus going on two wheels, while ridiculous,
- 54:03Speaker 1: is very fun and I liked it a lot. That
- 54:08Speaker 1: is my third one though, because I picked the ones
- 54:11Speaker 1: you guys said as well. But I just I liked
- 54:14Speaker 1: that whole bit. I think that's pretty fun. Yeah, those
- 54:20Speaker 1: might be the only three. The rest of it all
- 54:22Speaker 1: feels like one big scene to me. You know, it's
- 54:25Speaker 1: a little hard to parse out. This one is at times.
- 54:29Speaker 3: I always really loved the and maybe it's not plausible,
- 54:33Speaker 3: but I did always love how he figured out that
- 54:35Speaker 3: he was seeing them through the lives and the wildcat
- 54:39Speaker 3: bit and then them going and just replaying that same image.
- 54:48Speaker 1: That's a cool way to get out of there.
- 54:50Speaker 5: I liked a pretty cool high tech hack. That is
- 54:53Speaker 5: early on in movie history when there wasn't a lot
- 54:55Speaker 5: of high tech things.
- 54:56Speaker 1: To totally totally. I did like that was fun, ye,
- 55:03Speaker 1: but yeah.
- 55:04Speaker 3: I would be down for that, that sequence of scenes
- 55:07Speaker 3: when Harry dies and then the dramatic I'm down between
- 55:12Speaker 3: cool cool cool.
- 55:13Speaker 1: I love that.
- 55:14Speaker 3: Well, the dingus has been chosen. Let's let's go and
- 55:17Speaker 3: let's do some of these quotes and let's show me the.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Money, Show me the money, show me you got a
- 55:29Speaker 1: few of these.
- 55:31Speaker 5: The one that sticks out to my mind then got
- 55:34Speaker 5: all of us laughing, was like, Alan, what's Alan ruck?
- 55:39Speaker 5: Alan Ruck is is you know, translating or trans There's
- 55:46Speaker 5: something something down there? And then me, darn it or whatever.
- 55:54Speaker 3: Darn.
- 55:56Speaker 1: I love that one so much, so much.
- 55:59Speaker 4: He delivered that so perfectly.
- 56:03Speaker 3: Pause, yes, oh darn perfect good.
- 56:11Speaker 5: And when Keanu was negotiating with the guy with the
- 56:16Speaker 5: gun and he said, I know kung fu, like that
- 56:19Speaker 5: was great.
- 56:19Speaker 1: Right, amazing.
- 56:22Speaker 3: You might as well have.
- 56:24Speaker 5: I did hear. I listened to this pretty fascinating, just
- 56:30Speaker 5: like a half an hour. I don't know. The dissection
- 56:34Speaker 5: of the movie by sort of a film critic and
- 56:37Speaker 5: the I guess Joss Whedon was involved in the script. Yeah, yeah,
- 56:44Speaker 5: and that like his little one of his big contributions
- 56:47Speaker 5: was the whole pop quiz you know.
- 56:50Speaker 1: Yes, which is well they actually said the one uh
- 56:55Speaker 1: what I said? His name? Who's the other writer? Graham Ghost?
- 56:59Speaker 1: He said that Josh. He basically credits Joss Whedon for
- 57:03Speaker 1: almost all of the dialogue apparently, and for knocking that up.
- 57:07Speaker 1: So I was like, well that kind of makes sense. Yeah,
- 57:10Speaker 1: I mean he's apparently kind of a toolbag, but he
- 57:12Speaker 1: wrote he wrote some movies that I really liked the
- 57:15Speaker 1: dialog for.
- 57:16Speaker 3: Oh, for sure, it makes the shows.
- 57:18Speaker 4: Yeah, shows.
- 57:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I get called that little pop quiz like callback
- 57:22Speaker 5: is works well, throw so fun.
- 57:24Speaker 3: That's iconic. That's what I think of with this movie
- 57:27Speaker 3: quiz hot shot.
- 57:28Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, I love that. Otherwise, yeah, I'll stay with
- 57:33Speaker 5: those for now. You guys can bring up better ones.
- 57:37Speaker 5: For sure.
- 57:38Speaker 3: I definitely had the pop quiz hot Shot. There's a
- 57:40Speaker 3: bomb on a bus. Once the bus goes fifty miles
- 57:42Speaker 3: an hour, the bomb is armed. If it drops blow fifty,
- 57:45Speaker 3: it blows up. What do you do? What do you do?
- 57:51Speaker 3: I was like, those what you do? Uh? The I'm
- 57:58Speaker 3: smarter than you, Jack, I'm smart, I'm smarter. And then
- 58:01Speaker 3: he gets his head ripped off he's like, yeah, well
- 58:04Speaker 3: I'm taller.
- 58:07Speaker 1: Such a good even.
- 58:09Speaker 5: I didn't even get that till right now because I
- 58:12Speaker 5: was thinking it's like spatially, I'm like, no, you're way
- 58:15Speaker 5: below him.
- 58:15Speaker 1: But what are you talking about?
- 58:18Speaker 5: He's always taller because.
- 58:20Speaker 3: He's a way.
- 58:22Speaker 1: Shorter than he was two minutes ago.
- 58:25Speaker 3: Yep. I always liked the I have to warn you,
- 58:30Speaker 3: I've heard relationships based on intense experiences never work. Okay,
- 58:35Speaker 3: we'll have to base it on sex. Then whatever you say, ma'am.
- 58:43Speaker 1: You let's go to bed.
- 58:49Speaker 3: And I'll do one more. You can do the other
- 58:51Speaker 3: one's mugs. But and he's like, so you're a cop, right,
- 58:55Speaker 3: He's like, that's right. Well I should probably tell you
- 58:57Speaker 3: that I'm taking the bus because I have my driver's
- 58:59Speaker 3: license revoked, what for speeding?
- 59:03Speaker 1: So fun I wrote that one.
- 59:05Speaker 5: I like that a lot.
- 59:06Speaker 1: It's cute.
- 59:07Speaker 3: It's a little on the nose, but I don't mind that.
- 59:09Speaker 5: It's better than or whatever.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Oh that's fun. I really liked at the beginning. I
- 59:19Speaker 1: think it's Hopper and Keanu and he's just like you.
- 59:24Speaker 1: And he's like, oh, in two hundred years we've come
- 59:27Speaker 1: from I regret I have, but one life to give
- 59:29Speaker 1: for my country. Like, it's just so funny. I loved
- 59:33Speaker 1: that line.
- 59:35Speaker 3: Those Jeff Daniels is that who says it?
- 59:38Speaker 1: Oh, Jeff Daniels says that's right because he's being held hostage.
- 59:42Speaker 1: Good good job, good job. Yeah, but yeah, I regret
- 59:45Speaker 1: I have but one life to give my country to
- 59:50Speaker 1: f you. Really fun when Jeff Daniels is leaving the
- 59:57Speaker 1: like bar scene, which I didn't I didn't remember the
- 59:59Speaker 1: bar at all. Yeah, you know whatever, but he's like, whoa,
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I'm all right. He's like kind of stumbling out. He's like,
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: I'm gonna go home and have some sex, Harry, You're
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: gonna go home and puke. Well that'll be fun too.
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: I liked that line a lot.
- 1:00:15Speaker 3: That made me kiggle in between I'm gonna go home
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: and have some sex he sniffs.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I'm just yeah, you're right so much. That's so funny.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: I wonder it might have been. It's like, Okay, I'm
- 1:00:31Speaker 5: going to develop this character and I need something like
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: a like a repetitive habit that he does.
- 1:00:36Speaker 3: I'm going to do a sniff sniff.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: He's like working class people sniff a lot, right, Yeah,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: and they're involved with a lot of dust. I also,
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: I probably should have said this for scene now that
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I'm thinking about it, because I really liked this. When
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: he's in the car with the dude the nice car
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: trying to catch up to the bus and you're like
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: they're like trying to you know, he's like right on
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: the sign and all that, and he's like, there's a
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: bomb on your bus. And then he's like relaying that
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: to the bus driver too. He's like there's a bum
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: wait what just like he like freaks out. Great. Yeah,
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: I liked that part a lot. That was really fun.
- 1:01:14Speaker 5: It's weird to use like a black man for comic
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: relief in a movie.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: Like, yeah, such a non nineties thing, right. I also
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: loved towards the end he calls he says something about
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: the whim of a madman, and then he's.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: Like, yeah, of a madman always stuck with me.
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I loved so much. So he's like, it's when he's
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: talking to Hopper, I can't remember it's towards them. He's no, no, no,
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: he's just he's just listening tows that's right. It's on
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: the news and they're taken hostag by the whim of
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: a madman and he just goes the whim of a madman.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I like that. I know, Dennis, calm down, but I
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: love you the whim of a madman, like really lives
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: rent free up here for some reason, I don't know why.
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: And I just I loved the They go into the
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: airport and you see Alan ruck just dejected and he goes, huh,
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: we're at the airport, and Dragantor goes yeah, so and
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: he's like, I've already seen the airport.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: The airport. It's like, come on, Alan, what are we doing?
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: I love it.
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: We all interpreted that as like, oh, like another person
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: on the bus has gotten far off, glassy stare and
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: do something, going to do something weird or dangerous or
- 1:02:38Speaker 5: like try to jump from the bus. So we're all
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: waiting for that, and then all of a sudden, he's
- 1:02:42Speaker 5: like back to normal guy. So that was a weird
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: I liked it. It had some discontinuity for me, at
- 1:02:49Speaker 5: least at least the scene was set up in a
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: way where I interpret it to be they're setting him
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: up to be become a risk now, but then so
- 1:02:57Speaker 5: it's misinterpreted.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Did set up though? Like his it feels a little
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: like trauma responsie to me and then sets up him
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: being like hesitant to go cross to the other bus
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: when they're moving people. So maybe a little bit of treasure.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: But I also just thought it was like a fun,
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: stupid line. It's just like, come on, man, you know.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I thought that was great, And I also liked, oh,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: go ahead, go ahead.
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: I'm just going to say in that opening elevator thing
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: when he gives him, he gives him the flak for
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: hitting the button again. It's a good thing you press
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: that again. It might have been broke. But then after
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: the falls he's like, Jesus, Bob, what button did you push?
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: But did you push? Yeah? Silly and fun.
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: I liked, yeah, did you have any luck with the bomb?
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: It didn't go off.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Yer love that. I also loved. I think it's after
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: they jump the bus, maybe uh and rock. He looks
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: at someone and just goes, it's okay, if you need to,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: you go right ahead and vomit. Well, thank you, thank
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: you for permission. I'll be vomiting now, thank you. That
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: might have been all the ones I wrote down.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: The only other one I wrote down was when they're
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: getting their medals and he's like, you shot me. I
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: can't believe it. They're giving you a medal for shooting me.
- 1:04:24Speaker 3: A little prick thought that was funny.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Told you told me, you told.
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: Me to.
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: We're just two cool guys. What's up?
- 1:04:36Speaker 5: One one other? One that I didn't really notice, but
- 1:04:38Speaker 5: it is kind of a an inside joke. Was as
- 1:04:42Speaker 5: soon as Annie gets in the driver, he's like, missus,
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: can you handle this bus? And she's like, oh sure,
- 1:04:46Speaker 5: It's just like driving a really big Pinto. Pinto's being
- 1:04:49Speaker 5: these cars that exploded like all the time.
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: I did not know. That's why they stopped making Pintos.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: I had no idea because.
- 1:04:56Speaker 5: If they got rear ended, the gas tank was so
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: clock like Pinto's were based. We discontinued because they blew
- 1:05:01Speaker 5: up all the time. Funny, kind of a funny inadvertent
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: or kind of clever little double long time.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: I think it was clever. I think that's awesome.
- 1:05:13Speaker 5: I like that.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Uh, why don't we go to the crying game?
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: Bugs?
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: Boo hooment.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: Strong men also cry strong men also?
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: I picked three intriguing, but I kind of there might
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: be four. Now that we're talking about it, I'm saying
- 1:05:38Speaker 3: maybe when Beth Grant dies and Sandy b is upset
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: about it.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: When Chah.
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: Had I had mentioned that reaction to when they're stuck
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: in the subway car, maybe your head was just like,
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: why can't you just undo those?
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Ship comes Tom?
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: But I thought she was so good in that scene.
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: No, that definitely still got me. I wasn't thinking about
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: that the whole time, So okay, and then him like
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: choosing to stay. I mean, I know that's like.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: Well, that was gonna be my third one, right, you
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: didn't leave me, you didn't leave me, And then like
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: yeah at the end, but maybe that's all one.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I kind of considered that one. I guess there is
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: some time there though, isn't there?
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: I guess there?
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Yeah, the whole crash, Yeah, and then we've talked about
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: it a few times. But our our dingus. Yeah, that
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: scene where you know he's he's been so optimistic this
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: whole time, finds out Harry dies and he's like we're
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: gonna die. Yeah, She's like, no, we need you come.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I love that part. That's a good call.
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: That got tears walling up for me. Just a good
- 1:06:45Speaker 5: call scene like that.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: So then those three that's what I have were there
- 1:06:50Speaker 3: more boohoo's or do you think there are any other
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: times he could have cried? Paton come to mind. Yeah,
- 1:07:02Speaker 3: we nailed it.
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: It's three boom, he nailed it. I even tried to
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: throw you off. He still nailed it.
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: Boo.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: Good works. Also, I do three times. He was pretty good,
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: pretty good at this one.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: Really good man. It was like two hours.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I did pretty good.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: Pretty good way to go.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: That'll bring down the average let's go to movie trivia.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: I thought this was really cool. Keanu Reeves breaking the
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: glass on the bus door in the beginning of the
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: chase when he's like trying to yell at them. That
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: wasn't planned. It just happened, and they were like, it's cool,
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: let's keep it in his own strength. I guess not.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: He really whacked it good. I guess uh. The scene
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: in which Sandra Bullock takes the chewing gum out of
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: her mouth and then like pretends to put it on
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: the seat so she can get away and move from Stevens.
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: That was improvised by Bullock on the spot, which I
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: thought was fun. It was a good job. She's probably
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: had to get away from some creeps on some buses
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: though their life like, probably right. She actually learned to
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: drive the bus for the film, including passing her test
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: on the first attempt, so she must have got a
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: bus license. It's amazing. She was like, well, this acting
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: thing doesn't work out, at least I have that to
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: fall back on. She's busting. Good job, good job, you
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: have kids for sure. The twentieth Century Fox producer realized
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: that they had a hit movie on their hands when
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: he noticed that during test screenings, when audience members would
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: go to use the restroom, they would walk backward so
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: that they wouldn't miss any time while they were on
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: the way out. I thought that was a fun little anecdote.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: I liked that the bus jump scene was done twice.
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: It was a practical effect done twice, as the first
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: time it landed too smoothly. And they also said the
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: bridge was actually there, but it was digitally erased. Really,
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: so that's interesting.
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: I didn't not know any terrible nineties CGI there.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: It made me want to like go look at it again,
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: you know, yeah, because I maybe maybe it's abbys. The
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: bus jump scene was not in the original script, but
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Yondbant came up with it one day when he was
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: driving around La and noticed the section of the freeway missing,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: so that's interesting. Didn't think about the physics of it
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: very much but really, but just went for it and
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: for that bus scene. For that sequence, a ramp was built.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: The bus was started about one mile back and accelerated
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: toward the ramp. By the time it hit the ramp,
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: it reached a speed of sixty one miles per hour,
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: traveled one hundred and nine feet Its front wheels reached
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: an altitude of twenty feet off the ground, which was
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: higher than anybody anticipated. Because of this, the cameras were
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: not placed correctly, and the top front part of the
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: bus goes out of the frame when it reaches the
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: maximum point of the jump, so that's why it looks
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: kind of wonky if you watch that, which that was interesting.
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: Interesting.
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: Ten buses were used in the making of the film.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: One each one had two steering wheels, one Versandra Bullock
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: and one for the stunt driver, which was more often
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: than not on the roof of the bus, which is
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: kind of crazy. Why did she needed to get her
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: bus license if she wasn't drying the bus. I guess
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: she was driving it part of the time, but not
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: maybe for the crazier stuff. I don't know.
- 1:10:31Speaker 5: It's a good question. I don't Maybe maybe just to
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: kind of develop that sort of like soulless.
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: The mechanics of it or something base that a bus
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: driver has.
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: Yeah, there always nice to me. I asked them how
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: they do get picked up in my side of town?
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: That's true. I also don't ride the bus very often.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: So the film actually ran out of money before it
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: was completed. When it was first previewed for an audience,
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: the subway scene were animated storyboards, but the audience loved
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: him so much the studio came up with the funds
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: to shoot the remaining scenes properly. So that was kind
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: of interesting. That'd be weird to watch a movie and
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: then have it go to like animated. They're just like, wow,
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: this is the idea, we'll see. Keanu did ninety percent
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: ish of his own stunts, which is pretty wild. Good
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: for him, and obviously he grew a liking to it
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: because he's done that since in a lot of his movies.
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: He was cast after Yan Debant saw him in Point
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Break and he felt that he was vulnerable on screen.
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: He's not threatening to men because he's not that bulky,
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: and he looks great to women. And to that, I say,
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: not just to women, Am I right?
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: Johnny?
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: Utah, he's a beautiful.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: Man's beautiful.
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: That's why you guys have me on the podcast.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Of course you're not You're not threatening, but also beautiful.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: That's what I always say. Yandabunt insisted that Keanu get
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: a sensible haircut that would match a hard working cop,
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: and they were horrified when they saw. The executives were
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: horrified when they saw the buzz cut he adopted, and
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: they even threatened to postpone the film so he could
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: grow his hair back, which seems aggressive.
- 1:12:22Speaker 4: It seemed like it worked.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: Yeah, it seems like it was fine.
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: Keanu originally turned the roll down, which is pretty crazy
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: because he thought it was too much like die Hard,
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: but he signed on after Joss Whedon was brought in
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: to do a punch up of the script. Really, that
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: shot of the bus entering lax while a plane takes
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: off behind it took more than fifty tries to get right,
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: which just seems like way too many. That's wild to me. God,
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: there was a lot of trivia for this one. Uh, Papa.
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: The producers paid the owners of Payne's house five thousand
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: dollars to blow it up, and then they rebuilt it
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: for them after the filming. So they took a real lifehouse,
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: exploded it, paid them five grand just for fun, and
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: then also rebuilt their entire house the way it was before.
- 1:13:17Speaker 5: Not worth five grand, that's insane. I don't care if
- 1:13:21Speaker 5: that's like twenty grand.
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: No wonder they ran out of money. Yeah, but yeah,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: I don't.
- 1:13:28Speaker 5: I thought that was.
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: And he blew up an entire airplane. Yeah, that probably
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: was in cheap.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: What are we doing here?
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: Yeah, apparently the brand on that airplane was a tie
- 1:13:41Speaker 5: in or an Eastern Air or I read something in
- 1:13:44Speaker 5: die Hard than the company that brought trucks up to them.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like the same Comers company or something, right, Yeah,
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: that's good that.
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: It was really neat.
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: And then I just noticed that because you know, yeah, off.
- 1:13:57Speaker 3: The dome die Hard Enthusiast time as well, die Hard.
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: I noticed that die Hard. Uh. The last one that
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I had I thought was fun was the subway car
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: was actually just a bus that they like retrofitted to
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: look like a subway car, and I thought that was
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: I was like, oh, yeah, that makes way more sparse
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: they did. That's smart.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: And the elevator was a bus too crazy? Thing was
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: a bus just busting. That's a lot of good trivia.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: I saw some roll stuff. Some people, some big names
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: turned down the role of Annie. I saw that Meryl
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: Streep and Kim Basinger were offered and declined, whoa, they would.
- 1:14:38Speaker 5: Have been too old.
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Meryl Streep for sure, Maybe I'll look at it.
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: I don't know she is what eighty nine was Batman
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: and she was pretty right. Alyssa Milano turned down the
- 1:14:56Speaker 3: lead role she would have been, which that does it
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: make any sense why she would be turning down a
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: lead role in a film ever at all? That surprises me,
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: and I also saw a pre stardom. Hallie Barry turned
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: down the role without regret, even though the movie became
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: a huge hit. She said it would not have done
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: for me what it did for Sandra Bullock. I would
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: have just been the Black Bus Drivers, what she said.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: And the guy Joe Morton who played the captain that
- 1:15:30Speaker 3: was initially offered to Craig T. Nelson but he couldn't
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: get out of coach.
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: Huh couldn't get the upgrade?
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: Yeah, right, that's good.
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: Well, flight joke for you guys there, Yeah.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: Buddy, But that was all I had, Patna, Did you
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: have anything you want to do?
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: Well?
- 1:15:49Speaker 5: No, I listened to that video for like a thirty
- 1:15:52Speaker 5: minute sort of dissection. Apparently the first script was all
- 1:15:56Speaker 5: about bus, you know, like it didn't have the elevator
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: and you know, the subway. It was all about bus,
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: which is actually like kind of the way you're supposed
- 1:16:05Speaker 5: to do movies, Like you should be able to get
- 1:16:07Speaker 5: to the kind of the premise or that high theme
- 1:16:10Speaker 5: like right away. Most action movies do that. Actually, yeah, right,
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: So so the fact that and then when you know,
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: I'd watched the movie the other night and I just
- 1:16:18Speaker 5: felt like, man, this elevator thing just takes way longer
- 1:16:21Speaker 5: than I remembered. Not that I was bored a lot,
- 1:16:24Speaker 5: but I was like, I can't believe we're taking so
- 1:16:26Speaker 5: long to get to the bus, you know. So that
- 1:16:30Speaker 5: I felt validated when I listened to that kind of
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: video about it, because they're like this is actually kind
- 1:16:35Speaker 5: of strange, and like the studios rejected it because they're
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: like we can't. We can't spend ninety minutes or more
- 1:16:41Speaker 5: on a bus, right, and that makes sense because like
- 1:16:45Speaker 5: if you're in a skyscraper, sure it's one space, but
- 1:16:49Speaker 5: you can be in this boardroom or that boardroom or
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: the plaza or whatever. But a bus is just it's
- 1:16:53Speaker 5: a bus, you know. So the studios are nervous about
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: having too much bus even though get to the main
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: sort of action sequence was going to take some time.
- 1:17:04Speaker 5: So he went through a lot of details about the
- 1:17:06Speaker 5: revisions that they had to do to do that. And
- 1:17:08Speaker 5: Harry was initially written as his part as an accomplice
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: of the bad guy, and at the end it was
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: a twist where he was actually orchestrating the bomb and
- 1:17:18Speaker 5: they changed that like at the at the end, wild.
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: Wow, I can't even really imagine that a.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Whole different thing for sure. Yeah, it was like it's
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: kind of a fun idea.
- 1:17:31Speaker 5: But anyway, this script like lived for a while and
- 1:17:34Speaker 5: it went through a lot of a lot of projections
- 1:17:37Speaker 5: and revisions for it. Together. It needed to get.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: Kind of like Diard Diehard too, Like they were really
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: it sounded like Diehard went through a million things and
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: they were coming up with stuff the day of and really, yeah,
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: it was it was a lot. Yeah that's coming man, Yeah,
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: I heard.
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: Too that like Keanu, like I think one of the
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: Baldwin brothers was thought of for his role. And there's
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: a couple other guys too, I forget.
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm sure I didn't see much on those
- 1:18:07Speaker 3: and a lot of times it's like they were considered.
- 1:18:10Speaker 3: It's like, well you can consider it's more than just
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: like who was Yeah, who's turning it down? But I
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: didn't see any of that for sure.
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: Huh nice?
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: Well will there be a sequel judgment day?
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: We know that, Yeah, there's one.
- 1:18:25Speaker 3: Then you guys got to check it out maybe if
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: you just have literal time to waste because it is
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: a bummer.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: Yeah, I got the second one.
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: It's so bad control.
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: Let's do this stuff, do it? Do it?
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: But do you guys want to play a game?
- 1:18:40Speaker 1: Oh yes please.
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: I made a starting five for you guys, and I
- 1:18:45Speaker 3: think we did this with you once that node. But
- 1:18:48Speaker 3: I'm gonna name five actors from a film my favorite
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: yea from a film. Once you know the name of
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: the film, you are going to ring in with your name,
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: so I know who's ringing in. If there are actors'
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: names remaining, you can say them and get a point
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: for each name.
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: Okay, if you get any of.
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: Those wrong, the other person can come on in and
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: steal those from you. And all of these have something
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: in common. There's a theme all these movies, and if
- 1:19:21Speaker 3: you know the theme at any point, bring in and
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: you can get a point for that. And it might
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: have something to do with speed.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: I love it good, hope to do well. You've got
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: it great.
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: I hope you do too.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: I think it'd be great.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be fun.
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Be lower stakes. We got that going for us.
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: No, No, a bomb isn't going to no explode my
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: house if I get less than one.
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: No. No, although if anybody's into computer games, there's a
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: game called keep Talking and nobody explodes. That is very funky.
- 1:19:58Speaker 5: Pause. Yes, I'm going to go back to hot takes
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: because this never made much.
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: Sense to me.
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: Like the bus not getting below fifty, right, so that's
- 1:20:08Speaker 5: the whole thing. It's a trap and it's kind of diabolical.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: But like what happens if the bus blows up? They
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: just die, I think.
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: And then it's just funny, Like it seems a very
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: precarious situation to put ransom money under, you know, I
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: mean like there were good ideas where it was much
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: more likely that that bus was going to blow up
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: than it was not. I don't care how.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: That's a good point, But he also just would have
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: come up with something else crazy, and they know that
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: he's would have had.
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: To take him serious. Maybe it's what he was thinking.
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: Well, he would have to form a whole nother plan
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: and like and do it two years later, you know,
- 1:20:45Speaker 5: But I don't know.
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: He was kind of panicking, right because he said he
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: planned the initial one for two years and this was
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: two years response.
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: Yeah, right, the response was so fast, You're right, Like
- 1:20:56Speaker 3: that was another thing. I was just like, whoa, how
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: did we come up with all of that that that fast?
- 1:21:01Speaker 5: So yeah, and then but I see what you're saying though,
- 1:21:03Speaker 5: and then because he only got more leverage again after
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: everything failed, like he was but then he got a
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: hold of Sandra Bullock and he got hold of Annie
- 1:21:13Speaker 5: because if you wouldn't have done that, then he would
- 1:21:14Speaker 5: have had no leverage and the whole thing was over. So
- 1:21:17Speaker 5: I'm just like, that's another like suspension of disbelief thing
- 1:21:21Speaker 5: where I didn't I know, I didn't think about that
- 1:21:23Speaker 5: when I was a kid, But this time I'm like,
- 1:21:25Speaker 5: that seems to be a really stupid thing to do
- 1:21:27Speaker 5: if you actually want to craise your chances of getting
- 1:21:30Speaker 5: your ransom.
- 1:21:31Speaker 4: But anyway, I feel you.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: How about that? M all right?
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: Back to game mode. All right, here's the first one.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: The first name is Peter Storm ayor.
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: Sure.
- 1:21:49Speaker 3: The second name is Harvey Presnel. The third name is Steve.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: All right, that's that's an okay.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: The fourth name is William H. Macy.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I think Fargo, but Eric, yeah, yes, say it? Yeah, Eric,
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: that's what I called.
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: Yes, it is Fargo. Yes, and you have one name remaining.
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: So do I guess the name?
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: Do you guess the name?
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: Frances mcdarmond, you got it?
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: You know what's up.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: It's my favorite movie I should have got But where
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: was Harv?
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: He's the He's the the dad of I was thinking.
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: I was thinking of someone other Horror. Yes, Harvey, I
- 1:22:46Speaker 5: was thinking I was thinking of Marvel. Yeah, he's the dad.
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: Normally I would have picked John Carroll Lynch, but we
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: had him on the pod and BUGS would have probably
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: gotten that right.
- 1:22:59Speaker 5: Away, sir down because you met him. I remember that story.
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: Yeah, when you were working at the YEP and then
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: we got him on the pod and I was going
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: to peek out about it. Yes, it was Remember, it
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: was so much fun.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: I remember getting coffee at least. Yeah he was, remember
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: said he remembered, but I can't remember that. I think
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: he was just being polite. But that's pretty fun.
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: That's pretty neat there.
- 1:23:23Speaker 1: It was awesome. I love we remember when you were
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: in that movie.
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it was very far show. Yeah, all right, let's
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: go to number two. The first name Andre Brower.
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: Alright, p I know that name. What was that?
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: The second name is Carrie Elvis. The third name Morgan Freeman.
- 1:23:54Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: Number four Matthew Broderick, Oh, Eric, Yes, Glory. We've already
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: talked about it today, which is great. What is the
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: last name remaining from Glory?
- 1:24:08Speaker 5: Can I ask for you to repeat the ones that
- 1:24:10Speaker 5: you did?
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: Andre Brower, Carrie Elwis, Morgan Freeman, Matthew Broderick.
- 1:24:15Speaker 5: Oh shoot, oh, Denzel.
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: Washington, Denzel Washington another two more points.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: Gosh, this is the best I've ever done.
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: Bus.
- 1:24:23Speaker 5: I just want to give a shout out to Celsia
- 1:24:28Speaker 5: Laser Focus.
- 1:24:30Speaker 3: Laser Focus.
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: I am having a heart palpitation, but otherwise I feel good.
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: What were you going to say, is it is the
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: theme movies with five letter titles?
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: You got it. It's a word title with five letters.
- 1:24:49Speaker 3: That's impressive, nicely done.
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: That's good because I might not get another point.
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: So yes, all of these film titles one word, five
- 1:24:59Speaker 3: letters letters.
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: Just like speed Speed.
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: Yes, all right, let's go to number three. The first name,
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: there's ten, there's ten.
- 1:25:08Speaker 5: Okay, yeah, I don't trust my lead at all.
- 1:25:10Speaker 3: All right, Yeah, we got some time, I believe. The
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: first name is Tandy Newton. The second name is Terrence Howard.
