- 0:26It is time to leave your worries outside and join us here in the tree
- 0:29House. I'm Daniel Mallley, along with Trey Trenholme and newest tree House member
- 0:36Raj Sharma. Hello. Raj. While you may be new to the official
- 0:42cast of the show, you're in no way new to the program. That
- 0:46is true. You and I started doing radio together back in the mid two
- 0:53thousands, a little after Tray and I met each other. We're doing doing
- 0:57the show as well on the radio. So while I the reason I say
- 1:02this because technically you're a new official member, yes, but you've been hanging
- 1:08around the Treehouse for a long yeah. And it was very nice. I
- 1:12was just a Dallas comedy club this weekend and a bunch of listeners were just
- 1:17happened to be there. Uh, And it was very It was very very
- 1:19cool that they came up in the like congratulations on being the a permanent on
- 1:26the on the show now, And I was like, oh, that's kind
- 1:27of cool. Like they came out and made it a point to say hello
- 1:30and uh and and all of those things. So that was a that was
- 1:34a nice feeling. Well, I'm glad you got to feel nice, are
- 1:40we going to be like a radio station in ten years from now, Rogers
- 1:42still going to be the new member. I think we should, yeah,
- 1:48I think we should absolutely embrace that kind of like how if I forgot what
- 1:53the year was that they finally killed the Edge, but the station that replaced
- 1:57it is still referred to as the News Are one O two one. Well,
- 2:00I think it was I even though they've switched back, I mean,
- 2:04I think I'm Until the day they switched back to the Mix one O two
- 2:07nine, it was still the new now one of two nine, and that
- 2:13was a sounds redundant and confusing all at the same time. I don't mind.
- 2:20I don't mind being the permanent new guy. I don't mind that at
- 2:23all. It's the tree House with Daniel Malley, Trey Trendholme, and an
- 2:30all new Rash Charma. But all that hits, that's right, including Abba.
- 2:44So uh. Speaking of aliens and conspiracy theories, which have been on
- 2:47top of mind for us in here recently, Trey Ras shared with me something
- 2:54the other day that I never really thought about, and that is he's never
- 3:00seen your dog Daisy. Really, No, I mean you you. I
- 3:06firmly believe you've made this dog up. Here's why I say that. You
- 3:13you you talk about her, uh, and that's very sweet, But I've
- 3:16never you keep saying this three pound chihuahua. I have never seen the dog,
- 3:23and so I think, uh, you you were making it up.
- 3:28That is my conspiracy. I could be. I don't know any There's no
- 3:32pictures, no list like I've I have when I, like I said,
- 3:36when I had listeners come up and like, oh my god, I think
- 3:38this is cool. This was me at the last thing on the last live
- 3:43event. And there's always the pictures of you guys. The last one had
- 3:47me in it. But there's no Nobody has a picture of Daisy. I've
- 3:51never seen. She's not like Jerry's bucket of nails. I don't just carry
- 3:55her around in my car with me. Yep. But it's a but it's
- 3:59a like never makes a sound, you never hear it, you never see
- 4:01her, you never there's I just uh, I think you make I think
- 4:06you're making the dog up. See. Here's here's my theory. I am
- 4:11also stinged by this trade because by Raj questioning the existence of your tiny Chihuahua
- 4:18Daisy. At the same time, he's also questioning my credibility because I state,
- 4:25and I state it often, that I have seen Daisy, I have
- 4:28held Daisy, I have played with Daisy, that chihuahua. I love Daisy
- 4:32like everyone loves Daisy. And now Raj is questioning both of us. No,
- 4:36no, I'm not seeing I think it's not questioning any credibility. I
- 4:40think, oh, you just think I'm crazy and I see Chihuahua's No.
- 4:43I no, I think I think you just think it's a bit. We've
- 4:46been doing it for thirteen years. No, I just think that. Well,
- 4:48I actually hang on, in Raj's defense, there was a made up
- 4:53helicopter for like twenty five years. So I mean your track record, uh
- 4:59is as our track record says, do not trust us, all right,
- 5:02but this one it's real, we swear. I just think because you are
- 5:08such a good friend every time he talks about his dog, you go along
- 5:12with it like, yes, she is real, tright, like that's that
- 5:15like that's the that's the vibe I get from you, that there's no credibility.
- 5:19I think you want Oh, okay, okay, right now, right
- 5:25now, Trey, you're holding up what appears to be just the top part
- 5:29of Daisy's head, which means the little round head. And then here's oh,
- 5:32there's some eyeballs, the slower bill. Wait for it. Here's the
- 5:38thing you haven't seen about Daisy yet. Wait for it. Wow, that
- 5:42is that is a here's the thing ros that's not even Daisy going full Gene
- 5:47Simmons with her tongue. Wow. I have an uncle that looks like that.
- 5:57Wow, that is a very small dog. Okay, I you know,
- 6:00I'm I'm willing to admit when I'm wrong. I think that's something you
- 6:04should Look at that guy. Yeah, look at that girl. Hey,
- 6:06how are you You're a We see she is a real real That is a
- 6:12real jaua. That is a real three pounds jaua. I got yeah,
- 6:16okay, I stand corrected the dog. So thank you, thank you for
- 6:26that. I just thought you were a very I know you're a good friend.
- 6:30I thought you were going above and beyond by when when Trey would talk
- 6:32about this dog and you kind of had that look on your face like,
- 6:35yes, right, she is real, sort of like sort of like I
- 6:40had a sort of like Tray's psychotherapist slash asylum manager. As part of his
- 6:46agreed release, needed to be in someone's supervision, and somehow that was me,
- 6:51which man I had to speak to the doctor and the doctor's like,
- 6:55look, we don't want it to be too jarring for Trey. So when
- 6:59he says he has a three pound chuawa, just go with it because we
- 7:03don't want him to go absolutely insane. Yes, it's very shutter island,
- 7:09right, it's very yes, Yes, it's very shutter Island. Like I
- 7:12think, like when I when I picture tray walking dog, I just see
- 7:15it from the people across the street, just seeing a man with no just
- 7:18holding a leash like there's nothing. I had one of those as a kid.
- 7:21They sold them at Disney World. It was just like the very strong
- 7:27leash, like the rope and then it had like the little collar at the
- 7:30end. It just kind of floated in air. I had one of those.
- 7:32I saw. I saw that when I was a kid too. It
- 7:34was a six flags I saw. Maybe that's what it was, six flags.
- 7:38That's right, rights, Your middle image of me is that, you
- 7:42know, I'm just a muttering, delusional old man just putzing around the streets,
- 7:46you know, holding an empty leash. Yeah, talking to myself.
- 7:50I mean, that's a very Okay, yes, that's a fair assessment.
- 7:57You said it, not him. This is this is this is the shutter
- 8:01Island effect again where we're supposed to go along with that. Yes, Tray,
- 8:03I mean we do see that. I didn't say muttering. You did,
- 8:11but but you definitely are putzing around. But now I have to take
- 8:18that image out. Now there's an actual dog. I don't I don't believe
- 8:22you. I don't know if she walks a lot. She's a very small
- 8:24dog. But I will, I will, I will take it. I
- 8:28will take it back. You're not one of those crazy people that talks about
- 8:35their their animal like it's it's real, or like a person like it's real.
- 8:39You're you. You're officially a dog owner. Uh. And I apologize
- 8:45for any preconceived notion I had of trade Trino, but you're gonna stick with
- 8:50a part of him putzing around bumbling to himself. I like muttering. Muttering
- 8:54is good muttering. This sounds like you know he's going to mutter one day,
- 8:58like he's well that right there. I'm with you on Rogers because everything
- 9:03that you described, actually, I'm sorry, everything that Trey described isn't so
- 9:07much what I think Trey looks like now, but it definitely sounds like what
- 9:13Trey will look like in about twenty twenty five years. Yes, like you're
- 9:16gonna have that guy like you're the guy that yells at people to get off
- 9:18their lawn. Like I can see that. No, no, no,
- 9:22Trey's gonna be wait wait, do you mean Trey's gonna be the guy walking
- 9:24by that tells people to get off their own lawn or to get off of
- 9:28his lawn. Either one would be hilarious, but to tell people to get
- 9:33off their own lawn, this seems like something he would do. Get off
- 9:39your lawn, you're killing the grass. Yeah. And the thing is,
- 9:50what's the reason why Tray is gonna be saying get off get off the grass,
- 9:52or get off your lawn. So it's so my imaginary three pounds chihuahua
- 9:56can take a poop on it. I just says he and my like Raj
- 10:03sees me is like, you know, uh, you know a character from
- 10:09the Carol Carol Burnett show. You know Tim what? Yeah? Tim Conway
- 10:13was the butler and he would just you know, puts around and he had
- 10:16little steps muttering to himself. I mean, I will actually give you more
- 10:22credit than that. You're You're like the bell hop from Faulty Towers, Like
- 10:28like he says stuff. He says stuff. Nobody really knows what he's saying,
- 10:31but he believes it to be important. Like that's like he's just gonna
- 10:35under his breath, is like, you're gonna do this, So somehow,
- 10:37somehow, you take it the fact you've never seen my dog to you know,
- 10:41some semblance of senility for me, I watch Shutter Island. You're you're
- 10:48Lena. I'm giving you Leonardo DiCaprio status because I've never seen your girlfriend.
- 10:54That is true. That is that we're listening to the Treehouse. Visit us
- 11:07online that Treehouse on air dot com. Yeah, walked into that one.
- 11:22Now, let's get Rodney Anderson into the Treehouse. Nine seven two nine fifty
- 11:26two hundred is the phone number you will need. That's nine seven two hundred,
- 11:31the website Rodney Anderson dot com. Rodney, We've talked for years about
- 11:35how you do a cash out refinance to help people get out of credit card
- 11:39debt. But I'm wondering if you can give a couple of other reasons that
- 11:41a cash out refinance might help someone Yeah, we're doing a lot of cash
- 11:46our refinances for people buying land, buying second homes, buying investment properties,
- 11:52paying off the irs, paying out, paying off an ex spouse when it
- 11:56comes to divorce. Those are just several reasons why Dan and one thing people
- 12:00need to be aware of. Land loans right now are running incredibly high.
- 12:05Credit cards are running incredibly high. Construction loans are running incredibly high. So
- 12:09there's a lot of people out there looking to borrow money and they're looking to
- 12:13tappen to their equity. We're experts at cash out refinances and best of all
- 12:16our goals to get it closed closed in fifteen days or less. And Rodney's
- 12:20been doing this for over forty years and he's the person that I trust when
- 12:24it comes to all things mortgage, and that's the person you can trust as
- 12:28well. Nine seven two nine eight five fifty two hundred nine seven two nine
- 12:31eight five fifty two hundred or Rodney Anderson dot com and if I'm lending is
- 12:35an equal housing lender A three thousand village Parkway Steite four hundred Highland Village,
- 12:37Texas and MLS two three two nine business online at Treehouse OnAir dot com.
- 12:46You're in the Treehouse, visit us online at Treehouse OnAir dot com. This
- 12:56segment of the Treehouse is brought to you by Cook DFW Rooping and Restoration their

- 13:05roof inspection. See if your roof survived the last storm and if it's ready
- 13:11for the next one. Had Cook DFW Roofing and Restoration eight three three Cook
- 13:16DFW and the website cook dfw dot com. The parts of that last segment
- 13:24are a a good time to throw out the reminder that the show was now
- 13:30available on YouTube, So if you two like to see the slow reveal of
- 13:35Daisy on Trey's camera, you can enjoy that much like RAJ got to,
- 13:43Oh, there's the twelve pound cat looking at Trey like, put me down,
- 13:48you j a hole. That's that's all cats think. Lester Shows would
- 13:56have made a tray holding a pussy joke for the first time in months,
- 14:00but we're not that show. I'm convinced my cat like although a lot of
- 14:07times he's dumb as a boxer, rocks. Then at night, though,
- 14:09I wake up the next morning and I see how he's he moves all his
- 14:13toys around and everything else, and I'm like, you know, it's like
- 14:18he's playing risk and he figured out how to hold china. It's like,
- 14:24what are you doing at night? Like dogs playing checkers? He's you know,
- 14:28conquering the world. Yeah, that's that's uh. I like how the
- 14:35uh the daytime is for for him. I guess to rest up. Oh
- 14:39yeah, and then and then at night he's like, now, yeah,
- 14:43well, well well while the world is sleeping, I will make my moves
- 14:46exactly. It makes sense. See the rest of us, the rest of
- 14:48us watched Pinky in the Brain as children thinking oh, what a funny,
- 14:52cute show, or or actually with our age group, we watched Pinky in
- 14:56the Brain like, this is a fun show to watch. I don't care
- 14:58if you're a kid or a old Tray's cat watches it for ideas on how
- 15:05to take over the world. Oh yeah, I'm allergic to cats, but
- 15:13it seems your cat seems lovely. It's just like when you picked it up
- 15:16and then you put it down and you started scratching your chest and that made
- 15:20me start a chick. Oh I just I was just brushing some the hair
- 15:24off. That's just Tray's not used to having pussy all over him. Remember
- 15:31earlier when I said, a lesser show sometimes you gotta take them. Where
- 15:37are they give it given? I think that's a solid slug line. The
- 15:43Treehouse a lesser show, better than your lesser show. I would, I
- 15:52would, I'd listen to it, I'd watch it. Yeah, I'd put
- 15:56that on a sticker. Yeah. Yeah. So anyway it is. It
- 16:00is a good time to remind you that we are on YouTube if you'd like
- 16:03to actually watch the show. The three new words that we've sort of associated
- 16:07with the show now are listen, watch, follow. There's a bunch of
- 16:11other words that fall into all of those, including like and subscribe and stalk
- 16:15and all these other types of things. The main thing is we just hope
- 16:18you enjoy the Show's that's the main thing. And if you don't, f
- 16:22off to do pretty simple. It's a very simple calculus. So speaking of
- 16:29a calculus, I'm not going to make a student math because dear God,
- 16:33if I don't have to do it, I don't want to do it.
- 16:34Not that I'm bad at it, it just like anything, if you don't
- 16:37have a passion for it, then why why bother. So as far as
- 16:41a formula goes. Trey told me something the other day and I'm curious to
- 16:47hear more about it, and that is that your energy drink usage is related
- 16:53to your age. And I'm wondering how that is. Trey, Oh yeah,
- 16:57all right. So I work at this place, standard Port, and
- 17:03and I was talking to one of the servers, and you know, nights
- 17:06that I close, I've typically going from six pm too somewhere between three four
- 17:11am. So old man needs an energy drink to get them through the night.
- 17:15And I bought a couple Celsius. And I was talking to one of
- 17:18the servers and and she's twenty two and energy drink. The energy drink,
- 17:25yes, So I'm a big fan of those. And she's like, oh
- 17:29my gosh, I wish I had one. I said, well, I
- 17:30got an extra one. You can have it. And this is like nine
- 17:33thirty. I'm like, yeah, I'm about to have my noun so h
- 17:37And she's like, oh, oh, I appreciate it, but now I
- 17:40can't drink it. Now. I'll wait till like twelve one o'clock. That
- 17:42way i'll have the energy to get through the night. And I'm like there
- 17:45is the difference. Like I am trying to backtime my energy drinking to where
- 17:51the anything it gives me. It gies down right about three three thirty in
- 17:55the morning, so by the time I get home, I am ready to
- 17:57go to bed. In your twenties, your thing of that energy drink is
- 18:02the key to it gets you through the night. You can see the sunrise.
- 18:04Now that that actually makes sense, especially with her midnight timing, because
- 18:10she sees it as like you said, Trey, she needs an energy drink
- 18:12to get her over the hump, to make sure she feels just as awake
- 18:17at twelve oh one am as she did at eleven fifty nine PM. Yeah,
- 18:21yeah, I don't. I don't do the I don't do the energy
- 18:23drinks. I don't do coffee or tea or the the energy drinks. So
- 18:32but it's like then, no, I mean, what was a My ex
- 18:37wife had the best sense. She goes so you just kind of what wake
- 18:40up? I'm like, yep, that's kind of yep. I just kind
- 18:41of get up. Uh. And I usually beat my alarm. Uh.
- 18:45So like today was eight thirty eight thirty, I was up. I usually
- 18:51beat my alarm too. It's usually with a baseball back. Yeah, I
- 18:56just I've never had never been a needed a cup like needed a cup of
- 19:03coffee in the morning. I'm not that guy. I have never had to
- 19:04do that. I've never I've never purchased. I can say this with so
- 19:11much confidence. I have never purchased coffee from Starbucks. Never, not one
- 19:15time. Just like I've never had Chipotlin. I've never had Starbucks. I've
- 19:19had I've had bottled water from the Starbucks because it feeds, uh like build
- 19:25small villages, like it brings clean water to villages in Africa, according to
- 19:29the ad on the bottle. But I've never had I don't. I've never
- 19:33had the coffee or the tea or like even when we did back in the
- 19:37day when we did Saturday nights and was nine to midnight. I think it
- 19:40is what it was. I never had a coffee out of the break room.
- 19:42I never had I've never had a I've never had a I've never I've
- 19:45had Red Bull one time, and I will never do that again. What
- 19:51did it do? Yeah, I slept for about fifteen hours, like I
- 19:55crashed, like I had I had I was doing a show. This will
- 19:57let you know how did it at least get you, Like, did it
- 20:00initially give you wings and then you crashed? Or did you it just immediately
- 20:04knocked you out. I was here's how old, Here's how long ago?
- 20:08Was are you ready? I was doing a show at the Bronco Bowl.
- 20:11Wow, who are you? There's only one? Uh no, it was
- 20:30it was a local show and uh it was sponsored by red Bull, So
- 20:34that's all. And I when I say sponsored by red Bull, that's all
- 20:38they had. So in the Greenland there was these giant silver and blue drums
- 20:44that had just i mean filled at the top with Red Bull. And I
- 20:48was like, I hear it's a here, it's all the rage, so
- 20:51I will give it a shot. And I had one and I was like,
- 20:53I don't really like the flavor of it, but okay, this is
- 20:56supposed to nothing happened, and it's like it's it's for me. It was
- 21:00like the weed gummy right, like the edible, Like you're trying to go,
- 21:04nothing's happening right now, so let me just eat more. So I
- 21:07had the one and I was like, nothing's happening. So I had one
- 21:11immediately after that and I finished. Yeah, I finished my set, and
- 21:15I got home and I was on the couch and I woke up the next
- 21:18day fifteen hours later on the couch in the same spot. I was like,
- 21:23this energy stuff is not good for me. Well, Roger doesn't sound
- 21:26to me like you got red Bull And it sounds to me like, is
- 21:29you got GHB that was packaged in a Red Bull can? Uh? Yeah,
- 21:36I have. I have been slipped. Uh. I got slipped GHB
- 21:38while I was in a bar in Houston. That did happen. And I
- 21:41should have I should have kind of known when because I thought that we just
- 21:45got an extra beer. Uh, like like like the bartenders do that,
- 21:49they just give you an extra beer. And the guy who when I go,
- 21:52hey, I extra beer, and I cheered a buddy of mine and
- 21:56he's like, did you order that? I was like, I thought you
- 21:57ordered and I'd already started drinking. The guy whose beer was that was sitting
- 22:02next to me was so bombed. Uh, he couldn't speak, but with
- 22:06his eyes, I was like, this is not gonna be fun for you.
- 22:11Even even through his fog, even through his haze, he knew that
- 22:15that you were going to go down in flames. And I did, like,
- 22:18here was the weirdest thing about it is in my like coherent like I
- 22:22could see I'm about to walk into this wall. I'm about to walk into
- 22:26this wall. I can't stop it, but I can like literally talking to
- 22:30myself, going, I'm about I'm about to walk into this wall. Face
- 22:32first, I'm gonna walk into this wall. You gotta stop. And I
- 22:34couldn't do anything about it, So I just gotta stood there. And I
- 22:37was like, Oh, that's what that dude was feeling the whole time.
- 22:41But no, I've never had to do like that's the only time did that
- 22:42happen. But I never did like, I've never had the like the monster.
- 22:45I think that was a rage for a while, and then like still
- 22:48is still his energy drinks are are a huge or a huge billion dollar industry.
- 22:52Are they still doing the vodka energy drink stuff? Some people still do.
- 22:57Some people still do vodka. Red Bull is up the thing. I
- 23:00still I still on inccasion hear people order that it's not as common as it
- 23:06used to be. I'm not sure. I'm not sure if it's it's I
- 23:10don't know, if it was more of a fad drink for a while.
- 23:11Trey, you're the one that works in the service industry right now? Are
- 23:14people still ordering that a lot? Oh yeah, people fill order of vodka
- 23:17Red Bull all the time. Yeah, you know, that actually makes sense
- 23:19because I don't hang around with people that want the vodka red Bull anymore.
- 23:26Like I had a certain age group, you might have wanted it. But
- 23:29then in like Treys saying, at a certain point, you're you're back timing
- 23:33when you want to go to bed, and so if I'm doing vodka Red
- 23:36Bull and it's like, well, that's that's kind of a that's a gray
- 23:40area there. Either I'm gonna pass out in five minutes or I'm gonna be
- 23:41awake for five days. Yeah, that's the weird Like I've never I know,
- 23:45they outlawed, not outlawed, but like a lot of clubs in the
- 23:49UK don't serve vodka Red Bull because it does exactly what you're saying, like
- 23:55it'll hype you up, but then the liquors of the pressant. Yeah,
- 23:57it's kind of like taking a Viking in while doing you know, like a
- 24:00bump a blow. Yeah, So and your body's like, what what happens
- 24:06at that point? What does your body do? Did it? Did it
- 24:08just stay flat then because you've taken both at the same time. And I
- 24:11don't know. I don't. I've never I've never had I've never done the
- 24:15it scientific. What it does is is that basically the part of the brain
- 24:18that would keep like put you to sleep, stays awake, so you keep
- 24:22drinking, and so you just get a more intense drunk. Uh. I
- 24:27mean that's buying any of the in any of those things. Yeah. Now
- 24:33the consumer side of it is I just stay awake longer so I can just
- 24:37keep partying, right And Dan, you don't see it because I've been out
- 24:42with you and you and your wife on the islands. You're in bed by
- 24:45ten o'clock. I don't need your judgment. I've not. It's not really
- 24:51a judgment. And sometimes it's envy. But I'm just saying, you know,
- 24:55people you know, no, no, no, couples are going to
- 24:59Loubi's for dinner thirty and then popping a vodka Red Bull so they can stay
- 25:02up till ten o'clock. Well, you don't know. Perhaps there's a there's
- 25:06a there's a perhaps there's a dark corner of the island that not only has
- 25:11a Loubi's but serves vodka Red Bulls. So if that way you're really feeling
- 25:15like having a fist pumping good time, you can go next door to the
- 25:18Golden Corral and and and chew on the chocolate fountain until ten. Yeah.
- 25:23Well, I mean, I guess they can stay awake so they can catch
- 25:26the Blue Buds. It comes on at nine o'clock and then they'll be passed
- 25:30out at ten. Uh. Yeah, I think it is. I'm I'm
- 25:34a big fan. I don't know if you guys know this about me.
- 25:37I am a fan of the Loubi's. I'm a big fan. I tried
- 25:42to go get their dinner one night. It was about three months ago.
- 25:45Do you know they close at eight? I don't know if you knew that.
- 25:48I thought they were all just closed. I'm more stunned by the fact
- 25:52that you found it open Louby's at all. Oh. Yes, they're midway
- 25:56and six thirty five. Yep, oh that one, okay, Yeah,
- 26:00yeah, I think that's one of the few that's still holding strong. And
- 26:03I'm surprised they're even open until eight. I mean, they're They're dinner rush
- 26:07is literally four to six. Yeah. Yeah, So I went and I'm
- 26:11you know, I'm not I'm not at that of that age group. I
- 26:15was like, you know, it's about eight thirty I could use I could
- 26:17use uh some turkey breast and dressing. And I went and there were no
- 26:22cars in the parking lot. I was like, Oh, this is gonna
- 26:25be easy. And then I got to the doormans eight thirty nine, ten
- 26:30maybe uh, and They're like, nope, we've been closed for an hour.
- 26:34I was like, wow, you know, because of so few Luby's
- 26:37locations left and the possibilities they're in with open places, Trey, I think
- 26:45I think your bar could take advantage here of a gaping hole in the service
- 26:48industry, and that is at the standard poor in Dallas. In Uptown on
- 26:55McKinney Avenue, free idea. Here you do a vodka Red Bull happy hour
- 27:00m paired with a lovely luan platter. So not only do you get everything
- 27:10that comes with both of those items, one beverage and one drink, but
- 27:14you also get to cross the demographic threshold of twenty one to about sixty four.
- 27:22So you will have one of the most diverse age groups anywhere in Dallas,
- 27:29all coming for the Vodka Red Bull Luen platter pair the hottest spot from
- 27:34like seven to nine, because that's when they're getting turned up. So take
- 27:41me home and watch the news at ten. J's asleep by eleven. You
- 27:52gotta you gotta put a little sock on on the old fist pumper. Go
- 27:56to bed J compression side. You're in the treehouse, visit us online at

- 28:42had anybody call you because they're roof melted? Dan, Not exactly, but
- 28:45pretty close. We've been on some roofs that you would not leave how much
- 28:51the shingles have cracked and separated and started to literally disintegrate on some of these
- 28:56homes. And it's scary because a lot of people had no idea that actually
- 29:00heat can ruin your roof. Just like you know, everybody's always panicking about
- 29:04hail and wind, but the sun and the heat that we get here in
- 29:08North Texas is damaging very much to our roofs. And so even if you
- 29:14do not think you have damage, you need to get your roof inspected annually.
- 29:18And that was one of the biggest reasons. Why is the heat that
- 29:21we have here, nothing can sustain it long term. So you gotta protect
- 29:26your home and do yourself a favor. Call us out. We love to
- 29:29check it. If you have these type of damages, we can at least
- 29:32alert you to them before they get worse. And that's why it's such a
- 29:34great thing that cook DFW Roofing and Restoration offers that free roof inspection. Like
- 29:40Daniel said, they'll come out take a look and not cost you anything to
- 29:42do so, so give them a call eight three three cook DFW. That's
- 29:45eight three three cook DFW or that website cook dfw dot com is a unline
- 29:52that treehouse flare dot com. Let's get Jacqueline from Brooks Plumbing into the treehouse
- 29:59now their phone number two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight.
- 30:02The Websitebrooks Plumbing Texas dot com. The other day we were discussing Oliver,
- 30:06who's your journeyman plumbers? And I think most people don't understand what that means.
- 30:10They hear journeyman that they think you're just kind of running around company.
- 30:12The company is almost like a freelance. But that's not the case, right,
- 30:15No. I mean, if you want to go into the trade,
- 30:18any trade, especially if it's is a license trade, the first thing you
- 30:21should do is find the governing department. We're governed by the Texas State Board
- 30:26of Plumbing Examiners, which is a department of the Texas government, and you
- 30:30have to have a certain amount of hours in the field hands on experience to
- 30:33qualify, to go to state to take the test to essentially level up.
- 30:37It's kind of like catching a mushroom or a star and I'm playing Mario.
- 30:41To become a licensed plumber, I've said this before, you actually have to
- 30:45have more time in the field to test than you do to become a commercial
- 30:49airline pilot. And a lot of plumbers just kind of get stuck. They'll
- 30:53fill out the apprentice card and they'll never apply to go test anywhere. They'll
- 30:57they'll never move up. Journeyman plumber is the sweet spot because a lot of
- 31:02people are nervous about working with the master plumber because they're nervous that they're going
- 31:06to overpay. But every plumbing company in the state of Texas has to have
- 31:08a responsible master plumber to be operational. So if you don't see what I
- 31:14call an M number on the truck, it's going to be M and then
- 31:18some series of numbers either four or five. That means that they're they're not
- 31:22licensed. And so you should be weary of somebody's truck who pulls up to
- 31:25your house that doesn't have an M number on it. Jacqueline will teach me
- 31:29and you anything and everything about plumbing given the opportunity. And this is why
- 31:32I love having her in the Treehouse, because I like knowing things, and
- 31:36I like to make sure that I'm not being taken advantage of or I'm not
- 31:38having the wrong person or the wrong company into my home. And that's why
- 31:41we recommend them here in the Treehouse. Give him a call two one,
- 31:45four, three six eight thirty eight thirty eight or Brooks Plumbing Texas dot com.
- 31:51You're listening to the Treehouse. Visit goes online at Treehouse on Air dot
- 31:56com. This segment of the tree house is brought to you by Brooks Plumbing.
- 32:06Brooks Plumbing the phone number two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty
- 32:10eight. That's two one four three six eight thirty eight thirty eight for any
- 32:15and all of your plumbing wants and needs Brooks Plumbing Texas dot Com. Big
- 32:20thank you to Jacklin and also the Oliver, the plumber that came to my
- 32:25house the other day with the other plumber to crawl underneath my house lay some
- 32:32pipe so that way we no longer have any more roaches in the house.
- 32:42So thank you to Brooks Plumber. You are way too hard at that.
- 32:50I'm just saying that it's a very very thorough company. It is. They
- 32:57went to the deepest, darkest places and laid laid the good pipe. They
- 33:02did look out the old nasty pipe and put it a good one. You
- 33:10know, as a plumber, they it's got to get old, all the
- 33:13jokes that they must hear, or all the nonsense and like rights sort of
- 33:17like sort of like you as a stand up comedian. Anytime you get a
- 33:22heckler, you've been doing it so long, I'm sure every heckler thinks they're
- 33:24the first one to think of this particular heckle, like, I bet he
- 33:29hadn't you know he because they think no one's ever come before them. But
- 33:31they're wrong. Same thing probably that the plumber has to go through. It's
- 33:35like, really another pipe joke. Great they make they make. I didn't
- 33:40really as a kid, you don't think, like when you get older,
- 33:44you're like, oh, I had no idea that how much money they actually
- 33:46make, like they yes, they do very very very well. I did
- 33:52not know that. I just thought like a buddy of mine, one of
- 33:54my frams college actually like quit school to go into to apprentice with plumbing and
- 34:00pipe fitting. That's what he That's what he did because of how much money
- 34:06was on the table. And this is back in ninety sixty seven, but
- 34:09how much money was on the table for him. And he's like, I
- 34:13can't justify any more student loans, so I'm gonna go do this, and
- 34:15then he started. It was unbelievable. I you when you're a kid,
- 34:21I'm like, oh, I guess you just figure out you can fix pipes.
- 34:23I don't think. I don't know how. I don't know how that
- 34:27works. Again, how you get you know, you know, snaked down
- 34:30a certain path. But I don't want to get on too much of a
- 34:37high horse here. But I know I've told you guys over the years in
- 34:38the past, I'm not anti college at all, but I'm anti the college
- 34:45racket that has been forced on the last couple of generations, saying you have
- 34:52to go to college, you have to get a degree, otherwise you can't
- 34:55get, let alone a good job. Now nowadays it's been extended to you
- 35:00really can't get any job without a college degree, or at least not a
- 35:05job that you'd want, when the reality is there are plenty of great other
- 35:10options, like going into the trades, and going into the trades for some
- 35:15reason, started to be looked down upon when in the reality of it is,
- 35:21you can make a very very lovely life for yourself being a tradesman,
- 35:27whether it's as a plumber or a contractor. I mean think of all like
- 35:32HGTV as an entire channel, yeah, built on trades. Yeah. Yeah.
- 35:40And so that the college thing always has been, It's like, and
- 35:43I think I think this most I think this most current generation. I'm not
- 35:46sure if it's why or double Z or whatever. It is, like the
- 35:51college age eighteen to twenty four year olds right now are starting to realize life
- 35:55is shorter than everyone has told us. So we're not going to screw around
- 36:00and waste a bunch of time doing things we don't want to do. And
- 36:04for some of them that means going to work, but for some of them
- 36:07it also means that they don't want to take on a bunch of debt and
- 36:09they'd rather go do something else. Yeah, well that's that's that. It
- 36:15absolutely has been a racket that you know. I mean when we were growing
- 36:19up, we were the age like you had to go to college, and
- 36:22it's ridiculous because we all went to school with people, know people whatever.
- 36:25It's like, man, that guy didn't need to go to college. What
- 36:29he needed is you know, he doesn't need calculus or trigonometry. But starting
- 36:34in high school, had he taught him how to be an electrician, a
- 36:36plumber, a mechanic, something like that, he goes on and he's got
- 36:39a vocation that in this day and age, you can easily earn six figures
- 36:45being a plumber, a mechanic, whatever, and and carve out a very
- 36:49nice life for yourself. Yeah, I just you know, it's again,
- 36:52it's one of those things like you don't like nobody gives you that as an
- 36:55option, nobody presents itself, and going, you know what I think you
- 36:59you might be you might be really good at like he said, an electrician
- 37:02or a carpenter or a mechanic, like you might be that inclined in that
- 37:07way. Like, but that's and that's, and that's and and then part
- 37:10of the problem with school when we all went it was those things were looked
- 37:15down upon, though, because the smart kids were in the AP classes doing
- 37:19those things, and the dumb kids keep using finger quotes a lot. Sorry,
- 37:22but it's it's for effect here or not just for effect, it's for
- 37:27a reason. And then and then the dumb kids were the ones that were
- 37:30in wood shop or whatever, and when in reality, those things are are
- 37:37skills that everyone would be nice if everyone had some more knowledge in. But
- 37:42yeah, so the hypocrisy in it is you would look down on, say
- 37:47the kids that went into wood shop or something and hold up on a pedestal
- 37:51the kids that you know took the AP classes and go to college. But
- 37:58I lost my train of thought, damn it. You know, if you
- 38:01really read something had come back on that MRI if you want a great a
- 38:08great example when we had a high storm in February of twenty twenty one,
- 38:15like all the all the people with college degrees were going, oh crap and
- 38:20calling the guys that you know, you made to look down. I'm going
- 38:22and they're going, you'd be a thousand an hour and I'll get tea in
- 38:25about a week and yeah, And all of a sudden, people realize that
- 38:30there's something called a water meter or a water main that needs to be turned
- 38:35off, and they what that is. Yeah, you know, and you
- 38:37and you kind of hit the nail on the head on like everybody the wood
- 38:43shop and and all that stuff was wherever, Like you just automatically have that
- 38:46picture in your head. It's just a bunch of potheads or a bunch of
- 38:49drugs, you know whatever. Kids that were weren't. We're gonna graduate at
- 38:53the top of the class. Yeah, but they get to come home with
- 38:57a really badass bird house. Yeah. And you're like, that's what the
- 39:02stigma was. And I remember now where where it was. I got lost
- 39:06in my thought, which was the stigma from some people from the elitists or
- 39:10whatever about the wood shop or Hollmack or whatever versus AP classes. When who
- 39:17shows up on career day it's the doctor, it's the lawyer, it's it's
- 39:22the high falutin job. I don't ever remember on career day someone's dad or
- 39:28uncle coming in that was say a contractor or a plumber, because it was
- 39:32kind of looked down. Not even the kids would be like, I don't
- 39:35want my dad to come. You use the plumber. Yeah, and that's
- 39:38sad. Yeah, And it wasn't like again, it wasn't until one of
- 39:43my Mike Evans, Uh Mike said he's like, you know what, I'm
- 39:45just gonna quit school. And I was like, oh, you can't.
- 39:47And I was that guy. I'm like, well you can't do that.
- 39:51You gotta you gotta finish school. Yeah, like, well I'm gonna be
- 39:52I'm gonna go ahead an apprentice and do this plumbing and pipe fit. And
- 39:55I was like, okay, seriously, how much money can you? And
- 39:59then he told to me. I've ran into him a couple of years later
- 40:01and he's like this what I make now? And I'm like You've got to
- 40:04be eff and kidding me like and he's like, don't think about it,
- 40:07dude. I'm like you don't. It's until you need somebody. It's until
- 40:12you have a nice storm. It's until you have something where you're like,
- 40:14oh, now, it's they can charge me whatever they want to because the
- 40:20balls in their court. Now I'm like, oh that makes so much sense.
- 40:23Now, I'm I'm not I'm not very mechanically inclined form like I can.
- 40:28I can maybe maybe, you know, I can reset the time on
- 40:31the microwave. Uh. And my mom would every time. Uh yep,
- 40:37I know, ye, thank you, but my mother, my my my
- 40:40mother got Russia soul would go, you know, you should be engineer because
- 40:45I changed the time on the microwave. I think there's a lot more to
- 40:47it, uh than said you should be in an engineer engineer. Yeah,
- 40:52you should be an engineer. And I was like, really, because I
- 40:55changed the clock time on the microwave. I think there's like if I walked
- 40:59into school, if I was an engineering college and it was just a room
- 41:02full of microwaves, I'm like, ah, scam got it. Yeah.
- 41:07Yeah. It sounds to me like their career Day Pathway test that your mom
- 41:13took was far different than the ones we took. They need to bring like
- 41:19for career day, like they need to bring Like my mom was a nurse,
- 41:21so they're like they need to bring them in just because just the stories.
- 41:25I mean like people should get into like get into nursing. I'm gonna
- 41:30be a I'm gonna be a caregiver and a provider and I'm gonna heal the
- 41:34sit the stories that my mom would tell you. I'm like, this is
- 41:37why you got into it. This is why you got into nursing. Had
- 41:40nothing to do with caring for people. It was literally like she would always
- 41:44come back to you know who I had something in that bum. I was
- 41:46like, oh no, I was like, where do you work? That
- 41:55is? That is actually an interesting twist on that, because yeah, I
- 41:59think the idea or the secret that everyone that goes into like the medical field
- 42:05or especially nursing, you know, the great secret or the scam is I
- 42:09got into nursing because I really feel I want to help people, want to
- 42:13heal people. I want to have them feel as much comfort as they can
- 42:17in their most difficult of times. Yeah, that's what they tell everybody.
- 42:21Accept all their friends and family when they come home and do what your mom
- 42:23did, It's like, guess who had something stuck in their butt today,
- 42:28I don't know why people do drugs and put things in their bump. I'm
- 42:30like, I don't, don't. I'm nine, I don't really. Honestly
- 42:36though, it sounds like it worked really well on you, though, rage
- 42:38because your mom would come home every day and say, I don't know why
- 42:42people do drugs and stick things in their bum And you took those lessons to
- 42:46heart so much that to this day you won't even touch a cup of coffee.
- 42:54I don't. Yeah, I don't. I don't want to. I
- 42:55don't want to go to Starbucks. And the next thing you know, I
- 42:58got a light bulb in my butt. That's a VENTI I believe that is
- 43:13what they call rock bottom. If you're still willing to listen, watch,
