- 0:22[SPEAKER_02]: Hi, Tara.
- 0:23[SPEAKER_02]: I really like your shirt today.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: It is one of my faves.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's a little books with little birds.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of like feels like literary Cinderella.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I was going to say literary Cinderella.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's from Rebel and Floor on a favorite book a shop love Rebel and Floor.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know Katie's great, but she's actually opening a bookstore.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: Good for her.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's called page 76 or page 78.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's one of the two, but I'm obsessed with this shirt.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_01]: If you like bookish, apparel.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_01]: Rebel employers are a great place to get it.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: Love.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like it was appropriate.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_01]: Put a little book in today's episode.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, why not?
- 1:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_02]: where you go more writes a book in the revival.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she so does.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_01]: You're so right.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_01]: These are, this is her series.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: So we're here to talk about Gilmore Girls a year in the life today because we finally finished recapping it on our Patreon.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_02]: Gilmore Revisited, which we recorded the last episode last night, which was crazy, crazy to think about.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so it's so weird.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_01]: I laid in bed and thought about it for so long last night.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_01]: You did that, like.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, like because in April 2022, you and I started doing this thing, like which feels like we were different people then.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you were different people, to a highly different era of the two of us, and after having done like 157 episodes, that were just revisited, not to mention our DVD bonus features era where we paused for the strike.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: We have done this for so long.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like this has become such like a integral part of my weekly life of your weekly life of our life And now it's over.
- 2:08[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the chapter is over, which is crazy to think about
- 2:14[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that it's fully hit me yet and I did say to you last night that there's like a piece of me that feels like we're going to do something like that again So I think that's why I'm not mourning it so much, but regardless even if we do do it again, it is like that was the first time that we ever did it
- 2:29[SPEAKER_01]: It, and it's, I think that also because I'm the Gamory Visited person and between the two of us, oh, that's so true.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: I listen to all the Patreon episodes and like so with you, once you record it, it's done.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's done.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: It is done.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: It flies away.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: It's my time and I'll never ever think about it again.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there is like every week like I record it and then I listen to the episode from I guess two weeks prior So it's like a much it's I'm much more involved in the process.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's a ritual for you for sure It is and it's over and we have new things coming up of course So we watch club which we talked about last week, but yeah, it's just it's just different and I cried about it last night when I was in my dad
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Also because I was really proud of us yeah, it feels like the first thing that we did that like had bookends because like come on to say We have more to say for forever until you guys stop listening and with this it was like it was always going to have an end date
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: and we did have like that part in the middle where we pause for the strike, but then this, like happened right as Gamarko's season is starting, we recorded live with our vicious straw-ups on Patreon, which we do monthly, we do live recaps in front of them, so it's like we're recording in front of our besties.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: And it was on September 1st, which felt like so poignant and perfect, because we couldn't have planned a better, yeah, which we didn't plan it better because we actually missed a day and had to re-read our whole schedule, but like it actually ended up really well.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: It was up a little bit, but it got so beautiful.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we got to record Fall Part 1 and Part 2.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: with our vicious trolips there and how many of them in the chat is always just such a treat.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Amazing.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: Like the if only for the jokes.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: They are silly funny.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: They're silly trolips.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Silly goose.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_02]: Silly goose is.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_02]: I a gaggle of silly goose.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_02]: A gaggle of silly goose.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_02]: If you were there, you get it.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: So it's been a lot of fun and that that fun will continue in a very different way.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: But.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: Actually it's going to be more fun if I increase.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_01]: The rewatch club is different because with revisited, we were picking this apart, pulling it to the bone.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas with rewatch club, everything's a ton on a ton.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: We are having the time of our lives.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_01]: We love to show so much.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_02]: And we loved it doing Gilmore revisited it.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, but I don't it.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_02]: We had a lot to say.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_02]: It gave us a lot of opportunity to pick it apart.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_02]: Subsequently with the rewatch club, there's no time to pick it apart.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_02]: I'm just watching.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_02]: I'm enjoying live in.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're diving.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_02]: And it's just so fun to watch the show with you and to have like a little DVD commentary if you will.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm very excited for the day we could do it live with our vicious trowelups because we're going to continue to have a live episode every month with them both for a VTO live, which is an exclusive.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_02]: just Q&A and fun chatty chatty, but also to do a live recording and man, that's going to be fun.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a different way to watch the show and I'm so glad that, yeah, that the unfortunate strike, the timing did shake out.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_02]: I remember us feeling like it was really hard at the time.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_02]: And it ended up being a really good thing in hindsight.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: So,
- 5:54[SPEAKER_02]: That's fun.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, lots to debrief on when we do our kind of postseason Patreon episodes leading up to the rewatch club.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_02]: So I'm excited to reminisce.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_02]: But I think it was like post-game conference.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_01]: We're like, microphones.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Everyone's asking us questions.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: Gatorade's been poured under over our head.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_02]: We're like patting our foreheads with towels, or makeups running, not because we're crying, but also because we're crying.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_02]: Good times.
- 6:26[SPEAKER_02]: So with that said, as we do with every season that we recap on Patreon, this one's no different and we are going to do our year in the life recap in review.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, if you want to more detailed breakdown of how we felt seen by scene, you can join us on Patreon that will still be available even though the re-watch club.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be starting soon.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_02]: You can still get all of our seasons of Gilmore revisited on Patreon.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: And they're full.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so I know what you're doing here if you don't know what the show's about.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: Good up here.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we don't know.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably my grandma.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_02]: That's true.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_02]: But before we get into it, we do have a really exciting fall merch announcement that we've just been dying to share with you.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_02]: So as y'all know, we release sent to you.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's true.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_02]: As y'all know, we re-released the Fogazivo and the fall essentials earlier this month, but we had a new fall girl entered the chat.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_02]: a new hot bombshell what is it a new bothell on a hot new bombshell enters the villa.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_02]: And it is the fall stamps collection.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_02]: We know you guys really loved our sending all our love collection the stamps.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: design the version.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_02]: Genuinely, Haley and I dreamt up in a day, Emily Kelly who designed it, designed it in a day, and it is one of our favorite designs today, and we, and then it got lost in the postal system.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, that was crazy.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_02]: That was so crazy.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: Our stamps collection, which allow people thought we were dropping stamps like the genuous on your stamps.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and
- 8:12[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm not going to tell you now, there are a ton of all because we could not make them a ton of all.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, that is going to be available next week.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_02]: We've teased the design on our Instagram.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_02]: So you can go to our Instagram page and see what it looks like.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's so cute.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_02]: And it looks so good.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_02]: I can't shape glass.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: She's adorable.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: She's so cute.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_02]: I'm probably going to wear my fall stamps team next week for how to have a
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: of course you have to remind too and it's in some wonderful colors.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_02]: We really have some new colors that we've fallen in love with.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: This sweatshirt particularly the chocolate.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_01]: Dark chocolate.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Dark chocolate, love her.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: She's a new girl.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: We have not had a brown sweatshirt, but like you have to.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: You have to do like that.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_01]: Lower like a more abdominal brown.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: And she looks, she looks quite good.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: But I like what we did with the stamps.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are the same.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_01]: We had to leave the Jeep, of course.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: But the book has gotten a new title.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_01]: We've got Roy's backpack in there, the sweater.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: No more ice cream.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: We've got pancakes.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a little refresh, a little fall refresh
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: to get you a mood.
- 9:22[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's actually what I bates to my manicure on.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: It was yes.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and it was so funny because Rosie, your Nelltech, posted the image like the design it's going to be.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh hi, that's
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: I live so much for please.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: She was also the one that pointed out because I was talking about the law laws because of course, in both the summer and the fall version, there's a law law stamp, of course, for the Gilmore Girls Law Laws, and she asked what that meant, I explained her that it kind of takes us between scenes, it kind of like plays in the background, and she was like like in hand Montana, and I was like, well,
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: Like, absolutely!
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I've never had anyone say that before, and I was like, wow, well, you're right.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Gamma Girls and Montana, very similar, very similar audience, really.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I got it.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_02]: And very similar, we mentioned this last night on Patreon when we were recording.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: But Emily Osmond, who played Lily on the show, liked one of our posts on Instagram the other day, and I was like, Hi, Emily!
- 10:24[UNKNOWN]: What are you?
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: doing here and then I kept singing best of both worlds and I just couldn't get out of my head and then it was to confront it.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I kept singing it.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: How was the stars every shoe every color brought was like stop it and stuck in my head.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so good.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's so kind to you.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, we can go a whole episode without singing.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, the fall stamps will be available next week.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: We're so excited for you guys to see it.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: Again, if you want to see a little preview, it's on our Instagram.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_02]: And we can't wait to send you all of our autumnal love.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_02]: Of course.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_02]: But in the penultimate episode, leading up to...
- 11:03[SPEAKER_02]: Fall we're here to talk to you.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, yes, you're in the life and the words of thin and the words of thin penultimate Which does not mean The old super ultimate is up.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it is so funny.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so we're gonna break this down kind of similarly to how we do for a lot of the episodes Characters remit who the star of the season was what are favorite in these favorite storylines where but we're also giving you some
- 11:29[SPEAKER_02]: kind of like the kind of round-up of how we feel now that we've officially made our way through the series about the series as a whole and where all of the seasons fall in our rankings, and our rankings, we did in our rankings episode, which was like three and a half years ago.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: It was like kind of around the time that this started.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is crazy.
- 11:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so let's start with the star of the season.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: I have a feeling you and I have the same star.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: we have the same star.
- 11:57[SPEAKER_01]: She's a shining star.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: There is no one else that could be the star of the revival.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry to everyone else.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: It is Miss Emily Gomore.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Emily Gomore.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: No further questions.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: No one shines as clearly as she does.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: No one has a better arc.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting because she was the only arc that was kind of like forced upon the show, because of the circumstances of life, because of course, Ress and Peace at Herman, that he could not be in it, and you can't just explain him away, that like, you know, like I said in our recap of fall part two, that like you can't just be like,
- 12:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well he's on a work trip.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's not here like you have to first honor the character that I was going to say honor the actor and really like make his space for this person who was so beloved in the show and by the cast and creative
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like you have to make space for him when he's not there.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and so of course he was I'm going to cry with us Self-guide that yeah, but there's like you can't you can't just explain it away You have to put it into the plot, but the way that it was done was excellent Both in it's like humor and kind of turning it on its head to not be so funny
- 13:16[SPEAKER_01]: because like we of course have like Emily and Laura life fighting.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: We have Emily finding no joy in everything because she's doing where we condo which is funny but then you turn it around and it's like oh there's no joy in her life because she lost her husband, she lost her person and by the end of it she's selling her house because there wasn't ever any joy in everything that she had.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: It was in the people in her life and she's now realizing this
- 13:41[SPEAKER_01]: Not, I don't think it's too late, but it's much later than she probably would have liked that it took a big happening for her to cut out all the stuff and the bullshit and her life if you will.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I just think that on its own, on Emily's storyline on her own, do I understand why she's now doing whale museum theatrics?
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't.
- 14:04[SPEAKER_01]: But do I love it for her?
- 14:06[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like the fact that she found a maid who finally can really truly take her for and that she loves and return gorgeous.
- 14:15[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:16[SPEAKER_01]: Does everything about it?
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: No notes.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: Love.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_01]: Love.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, watch.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: Hope she found a new therapist.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely, because Claudia Claudia's not in Claudia need the therapist.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need a therapist.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she would do, but she's still human Claudia Claudia girl Claudia.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: I think Claudia wants to be a therapist.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_02]: I think she wants to be a canke boots.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: What's the big canke boots?
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: A single boot.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm just want to have the boots.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like I'm kind of giving away one of the superlatives we're offering at the end of the episode.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_02]: But that was my favorite.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: Fall part two is it really captures the story arc of everybody, I think, everybody that we care about in the show.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was perfect.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_02]: And for me, there were so many moments that I watched last night that I wanted to juxtapose up against moments from the original series, like talking about how Emily can't keep a maid, and then playing the scene where she's putting the blanket over birdest kids, or like telling birdest, because she's so sick.
- 15:36[SPEAKER_02]: And she's like, I'll make you some soup.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's just like, please fucking don't you're gonna remember this?
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and then like the scene with Jess and Luke famously at the end of season three, I'm not going back to school or even the one in season four where he basically tells him like you like,
- 15:57[SPEAKER_02]: You make it so that when people mess up, they've, they've disappointed you.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: And then the scene where Luke comes down and his suit that he's going to marry Laura Lion, and he's like, all right, spin around and just like you're, you're hot, you're hands.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I just love it.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_02]: I could have juxtaposed so many moments from the second part of fall up against.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_02]: the original series to exemplify the story arc that everybody wants to know.
- 16:23[SPEAKER_02]: But Emily's is by far, like far and away the best in my hour.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: No, Indian.
- 16:33[SPEAKER_01]: 100% like I would be very interested if anyone feels differently.
- 16:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like what you think is the best arc if you don't think it's Emily's.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: Because even just the end where they kind of have that parallel moment of
- 16:46[SPEAKER_01]: a law like coming to ask for money, and of course, Richard and the Pile is the one that's like so you need money.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: And in the revival in fall, it's Emily, and they never could have guessed that they would have that sort of parallel moment that they could do that where it's an exchange from Richard to Emily.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just beautiful.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_01]: It's yes.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's wonderful.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I love it.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_01]: I love Emily.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a bunch of Kelly Bishop.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I love her for Kelly Bishop.
- 17:16[SPEAKER_01]: She's so good.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, the other moment that I would love to play against itself, or against the revival, is the scene with the D.A.
- 17:26[SPEAKER_02]: Armutman.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_02]: and herding like bullshit.
- 17:28[SPEAKER_02]: We do this, we do this, then we laugh about it, blah, blah, blah, and playing it against who she was in the original series where, you know, absolutely not to take away from the things Emily did do that were important and, you know, being a wife to someone like Richard Gilmore is in and of itself a job, but she puts so much emphasis on the way things should be done.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_02]: that by the time she gets to that last scene with the D.R.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: in the revival, and she says this whole thing is dead to me, it died with Richard.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, yeah, it's astounding, and that is her, that is her moment.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: That's her turning moment.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: And especially hearing that back from Kelly's memoir about loving that, that that whole moment felt like a playground for her out.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: Also, in Kelly's own life, about like the struggles that she was dealing with with her husband's health at the time, that to kind of like parallel and
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: So good ahead.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_02]: So let's talk about some of the new characters we meet because we meet a lot of new people a lot of new faces and stars hollow a lot of new a lot of cameos that I thought were really fun.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_02]: So I kind of broke this down between like new characters and also cameos because they were yeah great quite a few.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: The first one I put, put Dom's petal the pig.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_02]: Petal, oh my god, I forgot to put a petal the character.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_02]: I love petal so much.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: What a cutie.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_02]: The next character I have written down is Paul.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: Ugh.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: I literally put in parentheses.
- 19:05[SPEAKER_02]: Tara, forgot about him.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, okay, she's going to say donald.
- 19:14[SPEAKER_02]: I actually went in order of appearance.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so I went back through all of my notes.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: So then I have came to us by Roy Choi and Rachel Ray.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, Burda, who is a new character and her whole family, Jack Smith, Naomi Schrobsher.
- 19:34[SPEAKER_02]: We have a cameo from, this is her real name, a real life, Mara Casey, and she plays the woman who asks one of the women who asks Luke, who, uh, what the Wi-Fi password is, and she's also the mom of one of the 30s something gang, yeah.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: She is actually the casting director for Gilmore Girls, so I thought that was a really fun cameo.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_01]: I believe she is one of the people that was listed as being in the Gilmore Real documentary.
- 19:58[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, really?
- 19:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's great.
- 20:00[SPEAKER_02]: That's amazing because thank you.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Mark.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_02]: Louise Goffin, who is Carol King's daughter and sings on the theme song with her as the
- 20:13[SPEAKER_02]: I put Stephen Kwan question mark because we meet them as like actual kids kind of it's a little bit of a question mark.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Claudia the therapist of course, Sandy from Sandy says who well, Claudia the therapist is played by Carrie Butler for those of you who may not be familiar with the Broadway scene.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_02]: She's like a huge Broadway actress as a son Foster and Christian Borough later in the revival, but I said this in
- 20:40[SPEAKER_02]: when we recorded, Carrie Butler had a chokehold on me during my teenage years.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: I was obsessed with Carrie Butler.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_02]: So to see her in Gilmore Girls was like huge, and I know she's a huge Gilmore Girls fan, so that made me happy.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_02]: Sandy from Sandy says, and the actress who played Sandy was also in bun heads.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_02]: So we love that.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of bun heads, across a lot of bun heads.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: Mr. Kim, who we don't really meet, but
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I, I put him down like he, yeah, we see him.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_02]: We see him.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_02]: But speaking of people that we, like, see and don't hear from, characters we hear about and don't see are Odette and Fredrick.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_02]: Michelle's husband.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_02]: Because we never Fredrick.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_02]: Michelle's husband.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would have liked to have gotten a little Fredrick sighting because he seems even more particular than Michelle is.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: If that is possible, I know.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: I would have loved.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: I would have loved to have seen him.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_02]: How would you feel without getting an Odette signing?
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: I literally was gonna say, I'm so bad we didn't see Odette.
- 21:38[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so bad that I couldn't put a woman's face to this horror that is occurring in your mind.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: What does she look like?
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: Beautiful.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's stunning.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_02]: In my mind, she just Kate Bosworth.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know why I, she has dark hair in my mind.
- 21:54[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, okay.
- 21:55[SPEAKER_01]: She's like a stunning, I, she's very tall, but she can't be too tall because Matt's agree is not that tall, but I just imagine her to be like, truly just like effortlessly, beautiful French woman who just gorgeous.
- 22:10[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know,
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: See, this is where everyone's always like, oh, like, they had an arrangement, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah,
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: And she's not saying anyone else and she's busy being a French artist and whatever it is she does.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure she has an incredible life and she's in very smart and I don't know.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe it's a big thing I do.
- 22:41[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think a lot of people have a plan about her.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't want, I just don't want my assumptions to be bad.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to cotton candy shane her.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want everyone just not like her because she's blonde.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: I bet she is blonde actually, you know, I bet she's like Parisian blonde.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: I hate blondes.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, notoriously.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 23:00[SPEAKER_02]: Feeling really good about myself right now.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: Donald.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_02]: We meet Donald, played by Sam Pancake, who's a good friend.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: I love that more in-grant.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: I love that he's in it.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: I love that she got to pull our friends into this show.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Many different ways.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: Paris's kids, Jim from Conde Nast, who's played by Dan Bucatinsky, who was in scandal with Lyselyle, who plays Paris.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_02]: So I love like all of the crossover here.
- 23:23[SPEAKER_02]: It was really well done.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_02]: Ida Friedman, who's a shark, and she shows Luke around Emily, Hire's her to show Luke around for expanding Luke's.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_02]: And she was all shaped like a Tits.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: That was really funny.
- 23:37[SPEAKER_02]: We get a cameo from May Whitman.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: Love, one of my faves.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_01]: And um,
- 23:44[SPEAKER_01]: May Whitman and also, I don't remember what her name is, but Scott Patterson's wife.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's there as well.
- 23:50[SPEAKER_02]: She's also there, forgot about that.
- 23:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Pat.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_02]: Now we're in summer, I don't remember in summer, talk about that later, um, the whole 30 something gang featuring, they're, I don't know why I think that she's their leader, but she is totally a leader, because she's exactly, she plays imaging on, um, Marvelous Mrs. Macele, she was also one of the leads in bun heads.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: I forget this actor's name.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, Bailey.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_02]: She, she was a bun head.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_02]: She was bun head.
- 24:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_02]: Then she time traveled her first name is Bailey.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: I forget what her last name is, but she's very I love Bear in the marvelous Mrs. Miesel.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: I can't wait to to remeer.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, not Compton the composer of the musical Yes, I don't think I want to know.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, I need to know I need to know yeah, I don't know how these two became pals
- 24:53[SPEAKER_02]: And then we meet Violet and Carl, who are Sutton Foster and Christian Borough, respectively.
- 25:00[SPEAKER_02]: And then the musical.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_02]: Who were the leads in the musical?
- 25:04[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I never put two and two together on this because we did talk about Amy's connection to Broadway.
- 25:09[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about her at the time doing a potential rewrite adaptation is the word of Gypsy.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: She was in talks to do that shortly after the revival.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: But what I never put together, and we did talk about this, is that she and Dan produced the Broadway revival.
- 25:31[SPEAKER_02]: I believe it was a revival of Violet, who played Violet.
- 25:36[SPEAKER_02]: So, if I was trying to know her name is Violet.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, never for that to come up, that didn't we?
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about the fact that they produced Violet, but we didn't talk about the fact that she was the character's name was crying with Violet.
- 25:48[SPEAKER_01]: After playing with Violet, didn't you need to sorry work on that?
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 25:54[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pretty sure you need to sorry work done that.
- 25:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, we did talk about that.
- 26:01[SPEAKER_02]: but I'm just now putting all of the pieces together.
- 26:03[SPEAKER_02]: That Sutton Foster's name is Violet in the Revival, after she played Violet on Broadway, which Amy Sherman Paladino co-produced an invested in.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 26:14[SPEAKER_01]: She did the music.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: Not something.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: I remember that that we talked about that connected.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we talk a lot about how the musical came to be, like the Laura that which I have some notes on, a little later.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_02]: We'll talk about it later.
- 26:30[SPEAKER_02]: Esther and Charlie, and the actor who played Charlie, whose name I believe is Charles.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_02]: He was in bun heads, he was also in Gilmore Girls, and Christy sent us a voice message about where he was in Gilmore Girls.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_02]: He plays the priest reverend that they bring in in the in the reigning lore line season four.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_02]: when he's like, remember, like, grand makes her own regents and he's like, did not just bury you, yeah.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like that's what I love, but what I love as well is that Jackie Hoffman, who plays Esther, is absolutely incredible love her.
- 27:03[SPEAKER_02]: But she was in hairspray with Carrie Butler, who plays Claudia the therapist.
- 27:08[SPEAKER_02]: She played.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_02]: Carey's mom.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_02]: Carey played Penny Pinkleton and Harris Bray.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_02]: Jackie Hoffman played her mother in the original production and then they also went on to do Xanado together in 2007, which, what a Bob, what a banger.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_02]: Love that show.
- 27:23[SPEAKER_02]: And Harris Bray.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: Love those shows.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_01]: I love that they're both in it.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_02]: Me too.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_02]: It's really fun.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_02]: And then we meet Stanley aka George Bell aka the Bayliffe.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: No, that's that's that's that's that's professor because I don't standley, but it's George Stanley ball.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, bailiff bailiff Professor Bailey Bell Billy Professor bailiff George Stanley ball the nerd.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, famously
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: We need all the wild gals who did have some females in the wild gals.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: I do too.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_02]: There are no wild gals.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: We definitely got all about it.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, Stephanie passed.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_02]: And then there were fun facts about a bunch of these women.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_02]: One of them was in bun heads.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_02]: One of them was one of the maids in Gilmore Girls.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_02]: So I just love how they were.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_02]: About like hand picking people and speaking of clever, the chemios of the park rangers being
- 28:18[SPEAKER_02]: Jason Ritter and Peter Krauss from parenthood at the time Peter Krauss and Lauren Graham were an item.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_02]: They're no longer.
- 28:26[SPEAKER_02]: But Peter Krauss played her brother in parenthood and Jason Ritter played her love interest.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_02]: So I love it.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I love it.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: I, this is like so strange, but I always compared, like Jason Ritter as her love interest in parenthood as like her max for some reason.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, I don't know why.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, I have to watch that again.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't seen it in years.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: So good for a little, let's do for a little rewatch watch.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love that show.
- 28:52[SPEAKER_01]: It was very reminiscent of Brothers and Sisters.
- 28:54[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I started watching Brothers and Sisters as well, because I loved coolest of Flockhart and Allie McBeal.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_02]: Like Allie McBeal is one of
- 29:01[SPEAKER_02]: probably top 10 favorite TV shows.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_02]: It's just like a comfort show for me.
- 29:06[SPEAKER_02]: And so I saw she was on what?
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: Tallyfield is in brothers and sisters.
- 29:11[SPEAKER_02]: She's the mom.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she is.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: She is.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_02]: She's watched.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_02]: I watched the first episode many years ago.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I never made it past the first episode.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_02]: So I actually don't know.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_02]: I also love Sally Field.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Sally Field.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: Love.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_01]: She's mom.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: No, I loved that show.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: It used to come on on after.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember what used to come on after But it was definitely like a show that was like two mature for me at the time.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but like my parents didn't really They were there.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: They've do you think it came on after grazing out of me?
- 29:40[SPEAKER_01]: No, maybe I can't remember what came on after Grey's Anatomy, but it definitely by like when like it was Thursdays, it was like Shonda Thursdays, because it was like Grey's scanned scandal with murder.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't remember what it was when it was on Sunday, it used to be on Sunday used to be a big TV time.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, did I say the Dan, uh,
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: But Katinsky wasn't scandal.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_02]: He was scandal or how to get away with murder.
- 30:05[SPEAKER_01]: He was not.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: He was he was definitely in scandal.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_01]: He was sorry.
- 30:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was sorry.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: He was sorry for her.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, so right.
- 30:11[SPEAKER_02]: The Sean across over is I know.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_02]: Because then Liza Wilde goes on to play like a main character in how to get away with murder, but she was in the first handful of episodes of scandal.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, a side character.
- 30:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: A side character to the president in more or less a month.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, I wrote down Molly Daniel because that character really made me laugh just the way that Michelle reacted to her.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: Who leave one of the best lines of the entire revival is your name's Molly.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like, oh my god, one can do the very like he does.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, Michelle, like, Yannick, chef's guess.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_02]: Love.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_01]: And then the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the nuns, the
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: could be like that's really like the hard part here is that like knowing enough about the creation of the revival and how it all came together is that there was not a lot of flexibility in what they could do and like the scheduling and getting all of these people who are part of different projects all in one place at the right time like all of the right people available
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: So that was guiding a lot of like who could be in it.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_01]: So like I do forgive them for that and I do wish they had more time to really build out what they could have with various people's availability.
- 32:00[SPEAKER_01]: Because the next section that we have is characters we missed that we wished could have been in the revival.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I know that she was.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: I know that Tuky was, but like whenever I think about like the timing and like the asks and what not I really do wish Tuky could have been in it more.
- 32:16[SPEAKER_01]: Because like so it goes that she wasn't asked like Melissa said that she didn't know about it when it first was announced from the other side.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_01]: It was scheduling.
- 32:28[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe it never like made it down to her from like her management.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I was thinking.
- 32:33[SPEAKER_02]: Is that like
- 32:34[SPEAKER_02]: We've had our fair share of reaching out to agents, managers, representation to, you know, get certain people on the podcast.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_02]: And we sometimes wonder if it ever makes it to them, you know?
- 32:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_02]: If there is kind of a first line of defense, especially with someone as famous as Melissa McCarthy, is yeah, was that I don't know if her representation was like, and she was famously absent from
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: ATX.
- 33:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so it's like she wasn't there when the ideas were a brew in and she was so she was so famous at that time Like she was doing everything So I wonder if it was like a we won't even get her we tried her Agents said that she wasn't available and when it came to her She was like, I don't even know anything about this.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don't know I don
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know, but I do wish that we could have had more of her because I think that was the only real I was about to think that was the only real thing I didn't like about the revival that's not true.
- 33:38[SPEAKER_01]: The fortune line on true.
- 33:39[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know why I'd say that but that is something I really missed is like yeah I felt like the talking her away because I was someone you could talk away, you know, the same way that you couldn't do for Richard You could explain away where she's at but she especially after watching
- 33:56[SPEAKER_02]: the series in its entirety, the way that we did on Patreon.
- 34:00[SPEAKER_02]: We were really disappointed in some of the ways that Suki shifted her character in the Amy Sherman Paladino universe in Season 6.
- 34:07[SPEAKER_02]: We felt like Suki was being all weird.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_02]: And then especially in Season 7, we were like, Suki really does set the tone for the dragon play in and the dynamic and she is really
- 34:20[SPEAKER_02]: the ear and the shoulder for Lauraly.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: And the words of wisdom, the kind of reality dose that she needs sometimes when she doesn't have it, whether that's the honesty hour.
- 34:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, whether that's with Luke, you know, she's in conflict or turmoil with Luke or with
- 34:37[SPEAKER_02]: Rory or her parents, Suki is always there, she's a fixture and so to not have one of the pillars and of course like you said, it's very different when the circumstances outside of the narrative like Ed's passing play a role in that but that wasn't what happened here and I just feel like Suki was her magic was sorely missed.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it's really hard to like combat a storyline that has to stay fixed, like lower like grieving her father, and like not have her best friend available, because you're telling me Suki wouldn't be there.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like in the narrative, living in the world, Suki would be there.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: She would 100% come back.
- 35:21[SPEAKER_01]: And like I all I could think about is, Laura, like being like, I'm
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 35:30[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: What do you why?
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: Let's have a seat.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk.
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_02]: Do you have some sugar?
- 35:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 35:37[SPEAKER_02]: I will say that like if they were able to bring her back for something the fact that they had her baking her a bunch of different wedding cakes.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_02]: Perfect was chef's kiss if you will literally and We can talk about that scene in a little bit, but yes, though she was there.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: We missed her.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I missed Liz and TJ I would have a lot of TJ cam.
- 35:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and I know that I think that the circumstances are that TJ Is not acting anymore.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the actor Michael Deloise.
- 36:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's acting anymore
- 36:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is a shamer because what I love that man But I would have loved to see Liz.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I heard from Catherine so she wasn't asked.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just a big bummer because they talk about her all the time Every time dresses there he mentions Liz absolutely.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I love that he doesn't really call her mom.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: He calls her Liz Liz
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that feels right.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_02]: I've said this before.
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: I will say it again.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: I missed a lot of the children crew.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: I wish that we could have seen.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_02]: We could have gotten a Max Medina, cameo, a Madeline in the Weas cameo, Brad Langford, the real Tristan, the real Tristan.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_02]: I like that they were able to get Emily Berkel, who plays Francie.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I have more to say about that scene later, but I'm a situation and of course, had master Tarleston.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_02]: I loved the children's scene.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think that more could have been done with it if those people had been willing able and available.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think similarly, the weas, who's played by T.L.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: Redmond, did I get that right?
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: You did.
- 37:09[SPEAKER_01]: He's just blonde.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: Look at me.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: Look at me.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: Look at me.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_01]: Look at me.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: You grow so much.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: I believe she's not acting anymore either.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: Correct.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, who's there?
- 37:19[SPEAKER_01]: Madeline.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: Put Madeline and Liz together.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 37:23[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, it's clear that they're still in touch with Scott Cohen.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: He obviously does a lot of go-more-girls stuff as well.
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: So I wonder what he was doing at the time because he does have a cameo in the marvelous Mrs. Mezzle.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_02]: So he's... He must have been clearly still in touch.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: Brad Langford and him Wiley.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to have him on the podcast on day.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I just think they would have been there and Shelley Cole, who plays Madeline, she also does fan fast.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: So I know she probably would have been, I think she would have done.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: I know the circumstances of how they decided to do it, but like yeah, I think that if we
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: had like filled out the Chilton part of it a little bit more with these people.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I left the Chilton.
- 38:08[SPEAKER_01]: I left going back to Chilton.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I just thought, I feel like I'm trying to be a alumni day.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: If it's alumni day, you think you're about to get like an inundation of like all of these people like are just going to be wandering the halls.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: You're like, oh my god, that's Henry.
- 38:23[SPEAKER_01]: That's Brad Langford.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_01]: There's Marilyn Louise.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_01]: Like you just think you're going to
- 38:29[SPEAKER_01]: I also would have totally believed if like I know that we had fake Tristan.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: I would have totally believed a fake Louise that like she looks so different way because she's had tons of work done.
- 38:40[SPEAKER_01]: I wouldn't want thousand believe that over I would believe fake Tristan.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: That's so real.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like she's had so much work.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: They're like, Louise?
- 38:51[SPEAKER_02]: She has a new face, like if anyone could have any face, that would be hilarious, but I would have the other thing that I would have loved to see.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I know we got the juxtaposition of worry, like talking to the class and like how
- 39:06[SPEAKER_02]: tender she was and how intentional she was and how had master Charleston is like looking at her and we also talked about how we would have loved for Max to be in the room kind of admiring the ways that she's working would have been Max's class.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and then we get that up against Paris who's just
- 39:24[SPEAKER_02]: a trip and a treat, hilarious, but it would have been really cool to kind of bounce between, not just the two of them, but also like Brad Lingford, and his bumbums, and I'm talking about working on Broadway.
- 39:34[SPEAKER_02]: And then like Madeline and Louise being like so.
- 39:37[SPEAKER_02]: how many of you have made out with a boy?
- 39:39[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know what I mean?
- 39:40[SPEAKER_02]: Like, I just think it would have been really fun to like see everybody kind of talk to the class and like the reactions from him that had master Charleston and Max Medina, like, horrified?
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: These are the boys from Madeline Louise's class.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_02]: So...
- 39:55[SPEAKER_02]: I just, because children especially as we're rewatching season one is such, I mean, it's filled with some, it's so dense, right?
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, I think I would have really loved to see those characters come back.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 40:11[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the ones that I missed.
- 40:12[SPEAKER_01]: Gotta say it.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: Dave or Gowski.
- 40:14[SPEAKER_01]: Dave, fucking or Gowski.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, I know that Adam Brody's busy.
- 40:20[SPEAKER_01]: I know he's famous,
- 40:25[SPEAKER_01]: We needed him back, even just to be playing it, you're telling me, if he wasn't just playing at the secret bar contextlessly, there was too many letters in that word, I just said, I would have believed it.
- 40:38[SPEAKER_01]: If he's just playing there, I wouldn't have accepted it.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 40:44[SPEAKER_02]: It always would have been really cool to see Adam Brody come in and have him stand next to go.
- 40:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like when they come in like they have band practice just like kind of no explanation he just comes in and he's rocking with them.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_02]: I would have made it, I would have made it more explanation.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: Of course we would have needed it, but I would have been fine without it.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: If we just get a glimpse of him, what have loved it?
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: Writing the meat, we bring Dave Ragowski instead of Nate Cumpton.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: Nat Cumpton?
- 41:16[SPEAKER_02]: Nat Cumpton.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry with you.
- 41:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_02]: So with you on that.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_02]: Anyway, speaking of the musical, the real Tom the contractor, because he would have hated that musical.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: Even though it was the real time of the contract, it was the real time of the contract, it was the actor, but he never would have, he never would have fallen for this.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_02]: He would have been like, this is the worst thing I've ever seen.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: I should have built the set.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: Or he did build it, and it's like they're misusing this.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: Because when she calls it a lazy season, the rotating stage, he should have been insulted.
- 41:56[SPEAKER_02]: He should have been insulted.
- 41:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, um, I missed Nora from the D.A.R.
- 42:02[SPEAKER_01]: Nora, aren't we?
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: She's a real lady.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: Nora, her little British accent.
- 42:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_02]: And um, honestly, the real worry, go more.
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, child's fired.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 42:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: I missed her.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, well, I missed that was actually, and it was Mrs. Kim.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted more Mrs. Kim.
- 42:26[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted more
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I actually have a with things we wish we would have given more time to, which was not a category we agreed upon before this, but I was just thinking about as I was talking to myself, I guess.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: Interpreting and all my personalities were having a conversation that I like wish we would have had like more Jess and Rory, more patty, more Mrs. Kim, more building, lower lies, wild journey, like all of these things that we could have given time to.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: in lieu of some of the other things that happened.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: But I put Mrs. Kim because I missed her.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: I missed like who she was in the original series.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_01]: And also I'm all agree.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm okay on that.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I know I'm as Logan.
- 43:10[SPEAKER_01]: We got Yako.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: We got Yako.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yako Huntsburger.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_02]: Famously.
- 43:16[SPEAKER_02]: Logan Yako Huntsburger.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_02]: That was really funny.
- 43:26[SPEAKER_01]: That was for the YouTube girlings.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_02]: Was it, was there anybody else that you missed besides those, those, no, I had all those people on those.
- 43:35[SPEAKER_02]: Because they, I will say, given everything that they had to work with and had to tackle in doing this as quickly as they did, production wise, they got a lot of people to come to come.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_02]: They got a lot of people.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_02]: We got so many people.
- 43:50[SPEAKER_02]: They were really able to fill that town and fill the story.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was really good.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: Like, like I applaud everything they did.
- 43:58[SPEAKER_01]: But what are we here to do?
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: But to explain how we would have liked more.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, of course.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_02]: Absolutely.
- 44:04[SPEAKER_02]: So let's talk about best first appearance.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_01]: The first appearance of Mitcham Hansberger.
- 44:09[SPEAKER_01]: No notes.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_02]: I know you really liked that.
- 44:12[SPEAKER_01]: I loved it because it was an absolute rude, unexpected jump scare of that they're just having lunch, Mitchum bangs a chair down and you're like, whoa, oh, oh, you're in the conversation now and that is so him.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like I was like, if we could compare like a first entrance, first appearance to
- 44:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's so fair.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I've did.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_02]: The first one I wrote down was the reveal of Laura like Gilmar.
- 44:45[SPEAKER_02]: It makes me cry every single.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, her sitting on the steps of the gazebo makes me cry so good.
- 44:51[SPEAKER_02]: So so good.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: And the reveal of Suki, which we talked about extensively last night.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: and keeping of like the reveal like in character her reveal is also very keeping with her character.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Just like stand and up, send in the buttercream across the kitchen.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, perfect.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_02]: I just may buy as soon as she walked in the kitchen, I start something.
- 45:16[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't make me cry.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: The
- 45:21[SPEAKER_02]: And I really, really loved the reveal of Jess.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: Love the reveal of Jess.
- 45:26[SPEAKER_01]: Because I really felt like I've seen Parallel to ingest Meets Roy and like walks into her room.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: She's on the computer, but now he walks into the Gazette and she's on her very old computer.
- 45:39[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: So good.
- 45:41[SPEAKER_01]: So good to see that man's face, love and his arms.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: The reveal of Logan was incredibly disappointing.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, it was great.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_01]: It was really good in the story.
- 45:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_01]: Really expecting it.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: It was very unexpected.
- 45:54[SPEAKER_01]: It was unexpected.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: It was unexpected and you were like,
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, but I still, in 2016, I watched it, loved it, the other two that I had Paris, like if they'd build up to like her coming out and like hearing the chatter and like the fearful firing of her sister before we actually see her, love it.
- 46:21[SPEAKER_01]: And then the other one is Emily, there's literally no fanfare, she just walks into the
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: No, Emily, but yeah, I said I told Tara, I was like, Mitchum, Jas and Suki have never been on the same list together in the superlatives, but here they are here.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the other one I wrote down was Missileen.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I was not expecting that.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she just comes out of the series.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm like, you're still here in the words of Luke.
- 46:52[SPEAKER_02]: How what does this woman?
- 46:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, correct.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_02]: Completely.
- 46:57[SPEAKER_02]: So let's talk about plot holes.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to kind of piggyback that on flashbacks we wish we saw because we did get a flashback of course to Richard's funeral, which was so appropriate.
- 47:06[SPEAKER_02]: But there are some plot holes.
- 47:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that these two things will be in the same category, like certain plot holes that occurred that maybe we didn't need to see a flashback on.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you'll feel the same way.
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: And like some of these plot holes are as a result of the time gap because there's been nine years since what is the show called your original series but like since the original series since season seven to now and some of the plot holes is genuinely because of the amount of time that has passed and you're like what how this is this feels like a life plot hole of like really you guys have not talked about this
- 47:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_02]: And for me, it's why you're Luke and Laura live within the narrative.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_02]: I know why they're like from Amy Sherman Paladin knows mine.
- 47:58[SPEAKER_02]: I know why they're not married.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_02]: But why within the narrative are they not married?
- 48:02[SPEAKER_02]: She wanted us to see them get married.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_02]: She knew that we would want to see them get married.
- 48:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I get in.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: can I be honest?
- 48:11[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that I needed to see them get married.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: I would have accepted that they had gotten married and maybe we would have gotten like a little montage of like
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: photos from their wedding on the mantle or something like that.
- 48:30[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't need to see it.
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of personally would have rather that plot hole to be closed because you're telling me that they haven't really thought about getting married in nine years since they reunited and bond voyage supposedly.
- 48:46[SPEAKER_01]: Guess that was like the the mark of the beginning of their relationship and they haven't talked about kids.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: And all that time
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm not talking to my kids and it's also feels like a plot whole a little bit that this is the first time that Emily has really like gotten gotten on to Lorelei as the wrong way to say it, but it's really what Emily does like nitpickter That she has her roommate and not a husband like I feel like they're hitting your four or five six and she's like Oh, when's the next guy showing up because this guy isn't gonna marry you
- 49:21[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I imagine you said it in the past, but maybe not.
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: But it's a pointy at least now.
- 49:25[SPEAKER_01]: She's in grief and she's.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_01]: a little spicier.
- 49:29[SPEAKER_01]: She's quite spicy, yeah, which reasonably so.
- 49:33[SPEAKER_01]: But did you have to see them get married?
- 49:35[SPEAKER_01]: Because the thing is, it's so small.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's just a reflecting light playing.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really just like kind of this dream sequence into a wedding that we don't hear.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for this scene to, that's pretty quick that really only sets up for Lorela and we're
- 49:55[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's tough because I understand why Amy did it and why she felt like the audience as a whole needed to see them get married.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_02]: I wonder how they how we they us as an all as an all encompassed audience would have felt about seeing maybe a Valor Newell.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_02]: I was just thinking about that or what it have been to reminiscent of wedding post.
- 50:18[SPEAKER_01]: I would have love for a medicine of wedding bell blues admittedly.
- 50:21[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you're telling me, like, well, I doesn't go off to something like wild.
- 50:25[SPEAKER_01]: And then she's like, I'd like to do.
- 50:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'd like to know our vows.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_01]: I could get a board with it.
- 50:32[SPEAKER_01]: Nine years of, maybe they got married five years ago.
- 50:35[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: Who's to say?
- 50:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: I could have done with some, it ending in some other way.
- 50:42[SPEAKER_02]: Because I don't want to go to that scene.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_02]: I loved that scene in fall.
- 50:46[SPEAKER_02]: But I think a Val renewal maybe would have satisfied that question mark.
- 50:51[SPEAKER_02]: Over this weird, as we've spoken to many times on this podcast, like Frozen and Time kind of vibe, they really are.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know.
- 51:02[SPEAKER_02]: And on that note, like, what happened to Rory's trust fund?
- 51:04[SPEAKER_02]: What happened to Rory?
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, let happened to Rory's trust fund.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: That is such a good question.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we never really address it.
- 51:12[SPEAKER_02]: And it is a major plot point in not only season one with grand, but also Richard mentions it in season six in Welcome to the Dollhouse when he... Was it Welcome to the Dollhouse?
- 51:27[SPEAKER_02]: It's... He's staying with the other her trust fund.
- 51:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_02]: And he says I can adjust the terms of her trust fund.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like, where did that go?
- 51:39[SPEAKER_02]: Why aren't we talking about it?
- 51:40[SPEAKER_02]: Go.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think that might be the might of been at the beginning of her birthday party episode.
- 51:46[SPEAKER_01]: 21 is lonely.
- 51:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you're right.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that opens.
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think so.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: So it's maybe she spent it all on London plain tickets.
- 51:56[SPEAKER_02]: Or maybe she spent it on trying to survive amidst not really having many jobs.
- 52:04[SPEAKER_01]: But that just doesn't seem like worry.
- 52:05[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's kind of like the whole thing with Rory as she doesn't really seem like Rory.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: This is like this is plot whole but also included later in my like worst storyline conflicts.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: And for me, it's really Rory's career.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: Because
- 52:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think that maybe at the time it comes off as like lost person trying to figure out what they want to do, it's not working for them.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: But like this is like kind of giving like squandering privilege because with worry, she was the editor of the Yale Daily News.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: She had her first internship with Mitch and Hansberger, which really means something in this business.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: And not only that, Mitch am named her as having given her her first internship in the Washington Post.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't that what the newspaper it was when she called to try and get it redacted?
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: And it was like, she was like, I think so.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: And she was like, it's true, but she was like, we're not giving a correction on what this implies.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 53:03[SPEAKER_01]: like that she went out into the world and then just like couldn't get a job and I know it's hard to get a job and journalism but like where you just like ignoring digital media and like the new uh opportunities that that has brought yeah it just feels like really like oh that's
- 53:21[SPEAKER_01]: That's all you've had just one talk of the town piece.
- 53:24[SPEAKER_01]: Really small.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't I just it doesn't it doesn't feel right like it feels like That's not the worry especially as we're going through the rewatch right now the rewatch club In Roy's in season one and she's like so determined like I like where we get.
- 53:42[SPEAKER_01]: I like that eventually she's writing a book, but like I wish we didn't have to go through so much Just like
- 53:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know what I'm, I don't know what word I'm trying to find, but just like, she's just not doing well.
- 53:58[SPEAKER_01]: Which I think is okay, you know, I agree with you though.
- 54:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think that she needed to be doing really well.
- 54:05[SPEAKER_01]: I think that there's something to be said that like, she just feels like she kind of just blew up her life.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like if she has a trust fund, she doesn't necessarily have to focus on things that are going to bring her a lot of money, but she could be focusing on like building her portfolio, making these connections meaning people.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like the fact that she was just like journalism didn't work for her is more reflective of Rory than it does of the industry.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_02]: No, and I agree with that.
- 54:35[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that that was the intention Amy went into a whiff.
- 54:39[SPEAKER_02]: It's like she's just all of this ambition that she has is kind of missing from this character that we and I think that's what people were
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: I would have more so believed if she had a job like working for, you know, she was a staff writer somewhere and she had lost her drive.
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: She was just phoning it in and was doing this job and like maybe had gotten to a place where she felt like she should feel like she was successful.
- 55:11[SPEAKER_01]: But just like was not into it anymore, and like didn't know how to be like, hey, I've worked for this my whole life And I decided I wanted to do this when I was a teenager, and I just don't want to anymore, and she feels like trapped in it I feel like that might have been more believable than like this Ivy League educated girl who has nothing but connections just Couldn't do it.
- 55:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I see what you're saying
- 55:38[SPEAKER_02]: I'm torn because I do really enjoy this idea of like as we've talked about many times on this podcast, you know, it's never too late to pivot, it sounds like you wish that she had gotten there a little differently.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_02]: Then
- 55:56[SPEAKER_02]: the narrative.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's in part because of that interview that Amy gave of like people are focused on her boyfriend's.
- 56:03[SPEAKER_01]: Why is no one thinking about whether or not she was like a shortlisted for a Pulitzer?
- 56:07[SPEAKER_01]: What papers she's working at?
- 56:09[SPEAKER_01]: And it leads you to this like idea that she is going to have had a lot of success or like be succeeding in journalism and she's not.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_01]: We don't get any history like that.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_01]: Any work history.
- 56:23[SPEAKER_01]: because like not to like jump forward to flashbacks, but I kind of wish we got more of a work history for Marie.
- 56:29[SPEAKER_01]: Like I just, and it's not, and it's not to say that like people who can't make it work in journalism, like that that's wrong, it's specifically where we go more, and like where she came from, like her education, and like maybe it's that like it doesn't matter where you come from, maybe it's just not working for you.
- 56:46[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't believe it from this girl.
- 56:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just like wasn't a believable storyline, especially as I've gotten older.
- 56:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: I talked about it with Carly Fortune too because she has a journalism background.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_01]: She's an journalism and so like she was like this could have been such an interesting storyline.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: If they had had someone on the writing staff who worked in journalism and like could have bolstered that up but it was just such a bland boring storyline when it's interesting drama filled industry.
- 57:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was an interesting perspective too.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that Amy really wanted to touch on the idea that someone like Rory Gilmar, who was really praised as a teenager and as a young adult, and given everything that she could have possibly done to set her up for success.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_02]: still led to her falling on her face a little bit.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's the story that Amy wanted to go with.
- 57:39[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's why she kind of was like, realism be damned, you know, yeah.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_02]: This is where I'm taking the character.
- 57:47[SPEAKER_01]: And it's hard too because it's like with Rory, we don't really get that like redemption feeling of her like feeling from her in regards to what she's going to do career wise until fall part two feels like because that's when she actually writes like a more girls.
- 58:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's because like it took so long to really get there.
- 58:09[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 58:11[SPEAKER_02]: We don't like, it was the like we're rooting for her until that point, but we do get the idea, obviously, for the book, we get her doing the research, we start to see her.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_02]: We start to see her ambition, yeah, reemerge a little bit, and I really do like, again, not to jump the gun, but I really really do like.
- 58:30[SPEAKER_02]: her new position at the star's holocaust.
- 58:34[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 58:35[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's why I really wish she was in another job and fucking hated it.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like hated it.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like I have been in a job where I hated it so much that I would rather go do something for free than be in this job.
- 58:49[SPEAKER_01]: And I kind of would have loved to see that from her.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like I literally can't do this.
- 58:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
- 58:53[SPEAKER_02]: I
- 58:54[SPEAKER_02]: could totally see that as well.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_02]: So that's it's kind of like a plot whole kind of like a worst.
- 59:00[SPEAKER_02]: No, it is.
- 59:02[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that like Rory as a whole does provide a lot of plot holes within the narrative.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_02]: Mostly, you know, what is her relationship with Logan and how did they reconnect?
- 59:16[SPEAKER_01]: Where did you come from?
- 59:17[SPEAKER_01]: Where did you go?
- 59:18[SPEAKER_01]: How long have they been reconnected?
- 59:19[SPEAKER_02]: How long have they been reconnected?
- 59:21[SPEAKER_02]: When did they decide they were going to start sleeping together?
- 59:24[SPEAKER_02]: At what point was she going to, you know, when did she come out of a dance?
- 59:28[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 59:30[SPEAKER_01]: Was it a place in the picture?
- 59:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah, I'm on the theater.
- 59:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we talked about this on Patreon that like we kind of want to know where that started and subsequently, what about Paul?
- 59:42[SPEAKER_02]: Why is he there?
- 59:43[SPEAKER_02]: Why have you been with him for two years?
- 59:45[SPEAKER_02]: Why is he?
- 59:46[SPEAKER_02]: Where did you meet him?
- 59:48[SPEAKER_02]: I have so many questions.
- 59:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's just kind of a question.
- 59:52[SPEAKER_02]: Unexplained.
- 59:53[SPEAKER_02]: So...
- 59:55[SPEAKER_02]: Those were really the only ones I wrote down.
- 59:57[SPEAKER_02]: Everything was really like Laura Lyon Luke and their relationship.
- 1:00:01[SPEAKER_02]: And also this whole conversation between the two of them at the end of summer where he's like, this was your arrangement.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_02]: I hate a new set of our lives so much.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's why I hate a new set of our lives.
- 1:00:12[SPEAKER_01]: I hated it more than he was yelling at her in the street.
- 1:00:17[SPEAKER_01]: It was really sad.
- 1:00:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because at least then you know it's coming from a place of pain and anger.
- 1:00:22[SPEAKER_02]: This is your partner.
- 1:00:24[SPEAKER_02]: you guys have been together for nine years more than collectively more than a collectively but like at this point in this yeah version of it and you've been friends for longer how do you talk to her like this and blame her for and we're shortcomings blame her for you not talking to her.
- 1:00:45[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we got mad at him, not mad at him.
- 1:00:48[SPEAKER_02]: So that's really, like, him talking about how she made this set of their agreement between the two of them, like, you set up our lives.
- 1:00:55[SPEAKER_02]: I need more context there because what the fuck are you talking about?
- 1:00:57[SPEAKER_01]: Because she also was fighting with the fuck are you talking about?
- 1:01:00[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what I had.
- 1:01:01[SPEAKER_01]: It really is just how it relates to worry in the more life.
- 1:01:04[SPEAKER_01]: The two main characters that like giving just more context to it that it really just feels like it was affected by those nine years feeling pause and I really wish we would have just gotten more context for the nine years.
- 1:01:18[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe in flashback scenes.
- 1:01:20[SPEAKER_01]: I think I could have done a little bit of like what was just doing.
- 1:01:24[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, I want to love that.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_01]: Want to make more time for Jess like continue for years.
- 1:01:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I know what that is.
- 1:01:32[SPEAKER_02]: What is their relationship?
- 1:01:33[SPEAKER_02]: Are they like you kind of get it from The context of their dialogue a million a little bit of exercise in there.
- 1:01:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of the same way she talks to Dean.
- 1:01:42[SPEAKER_02]: So like are you just in touch with all of your ex-boyfriends?
- 1:01:45[SPEAKER_02]: I think you might be I don't touch with all of your ex-boyfriends, but you cannot text back your current one.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_01]: Right?
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_01]: Weird.
- 1:01:52[SPEAKER_01]: Great.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_01]: Also when I went, that was a flashback.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_01]: We were going back in.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thank you.
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, I made that sound and then didn't give any context to why I made that sound.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I love it.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I need to say.
- 1:02:06[SPEAKER_02]: Are there any flashbacks that
- 1:02:10[SPEAKER_02]: You really needed to see because here's what I'll preface this with.
- 1:02:13[SPEAKER_02]: I would maybe have taken a flashback of Laura lie and Logan reconnecting.
- 1:02:19[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sorry.
- 1:02:20[SPEAKER_02]: Rory and Logan.
- 1:02:22[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, oh, okay, cool.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
- 1:02:27[SPEAKER_01]: Tara's thinking outside the box.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 1:02:30[SPEAKER_01]: I guess it is Laura lie.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_02]: It is she is technically Laura lie.
- 1:02:33[SPEAKER_02]: Rory and Logan reconnecting.
- 1:02:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but outside of that, I really did love that the flashback to Richard's funeral existed on its own.
- 1:02:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I could go either way.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: They were various points throughout.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them I don't remember.
- 1:02:48[SPEAKER_01]: That one I specifically remember needing to see worry in her red dress, disappointing, um, overall.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_01]: I when I was like this anthropology dress, a lot of people were like, wait, why do you hate anthropology?
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't.
- 1:03:02[SPEAKER_01]: It was this, right, Anthropology dress that I did them like, just this one specifically.
- 1:03:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like this was her lucky dress.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_01]: But this was the lucky dress that she was wearing when she we connected the Logan.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: And I want to see it.
- 1:03:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's giving Emily showing up to Richard's fraternity or wherever he was in her blue dress.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_01]: Which like where I needed to be in a blue dress.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
- 1:03:24[SPEAKER_01]: We're saying this girl.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_01]: I know like that's not that's not in her color season not at all.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: So, but it was the dress she was wearing when she saw Logan.
- 1:03:33[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to see it.
- 1:03:35[SPEAKER_01]: Did I need to see it?
- 1:03:37[SPEAKER_01]: No, but did I need to see it?
- 1:03:39[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 1:03:40[SPEAKER_02]: I could have also done with like if they had done one flashback per season like per episode.
- 1:03:47[SPEAKER_01]: If they hit the window flashback, a flashback per her person.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, per her girl.
- 1:03:53[SPEAKER_01]: Like, obviously the Richard flashback is for everyone.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like it's all the go more girls, but it really is Emily.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I'm with you.
- 1:04:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I would have accepted a lower-alien Luke, or maybe just couples, like Emily and Richard, the flashback is to his funeral, just saying that made me want to cry.
- 1:04:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, and then, lower-alien Luke, and then more in Logan.
- 1:04:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like I would have accepted a little, a little, a little last in the past from everyone.
- 1:04:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, totally.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_01]: or even seasonally like winter we get a flashback to a previous winter and spring we get a flashback to a previous.
- 1:04:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's what I mean and like I think I would have taken that, like I want to season, like spring five years ago, spring six years ago, summer seven years ago, summer two years ago.
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because then they like randomly, like, famously, if you guys have been with us on Patreon, there's one thing that makes no sense on gummer rolls and it's a timeline.
- 1:04:55[SPEAKER_01]: They have no idea that we were going to 25 years later, trying but this timeline together.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: time doesn't really exist and stars hollow were on the show and then all of the sudden they toss in a one week later for us I know in the middle of the revival and you're like whoa and you couldn't have given us a flashback I know the one yeah crazy anyway that was weird yeah um but yeah I I think that
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_02]: either more context or more flashbacks would have helped some of ice.
- 1:05:33[SPEAKER_01]: I accept that was the only flashback the funeral one.
- 1:05:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would have wanted more and if they weren't going to, more time for context, less time on other things that we'll talk about.
- 1:05:44[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 1:05:45[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:05:46[SPEAKER_02]: So on that topic, let's start with some of our favorite storylines that we can get into some of our storylines.
- 1:05:52[SPEAKER_02]: We could have cut as many.
- 1:05:54[SPEAKER_02]: The first one I put was just, of course, I'm just, everything, his growth, his arms, I just love his growth.
- 1:06:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, honestly seeing him in the revival is great, just as a team just girl.
- 1:06:09[SPEAKER_02]: But I think that seeing the relationship he has with Luke and the way that that has expanded the expansion,
- 1:06:22[SPEAKER_01]: like when he tosses his hat when we see him through the window and he reconnects with Luke.
- 1:06:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, cute.
- 1:06:27[SPEAKER_01]: And then having their little talk, they never would have had a talk like that in the original series.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_01]: So like seeing them together, it's cute.
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's cute.
- 1:06:36[SPEAKER_01]: And then, but also, the thing I love about him as well in the revival is like he's clearly changed a lot.
- 1:06:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like he, whatever he's been doing, he's
- 1:06:50[SPEAKER_01]: change from who he used to be.
- 1:06:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but then we get his last, his last moment.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_01]: His last moment that we see him is him seeing Bory Gilmore in your kind of like, but you've also not changed at all.
- 1:07:03[SPEAKER_01]: Like there's like this element to it that it's like inside of you.
- 1:07:06[SPEAKER_01]: There is still a young 17 year old boy who saw this girl who saw you.
- 1:07:13[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the first person who really saw you or as much as you would let her
- 1:07:20[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to talk to anyone else, I don't like anyone else, and you see her through the window, and you probably see the version of her that she used to be, and she's not that person anymore, and you weren't either, so you leave.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_01]: But it's cute.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_01]: No, I felt we didn't give enough time when we talked about it in our recap of, like, look through the window, because it's kind of joking about it, because everyone was saying it was Team Jess, which I'm not.
- 1:07:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not team dress but I deal with that moment.
- 1:07:51[SPEAKER_01]: I love that moment.
- 1:07:53[SPEAKER_01]: I love just as a character.
- 1:07:55[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not on that team.
- 1:07:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't play for that team.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_01]: I don't have the jersey.
- 1:08:03[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where the uniform, but I do look in my heart.
- 1:08:09[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want them to perform a little bit.
- 1:08:12[SPEAKER_01]: No, you don't know what goes on in my heart.
- 1:08:13[SPEAKER_01]: That's
- 1:08:18[SPEAKER_01]: to come in.
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 1:08:21[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
- 1:08:22[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I've been locked out.
- 1:08:24[SPEAKER_02]: Tell everyone.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I think that Jess, just as a character, you know, second to Emily Gilmore, his arc is really pretty as well.
- 1:08:34[SPEAKER_01]: and it's very pretty.
- 1:08:35[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, to be honest, just doesn't really have an arc in this.
- 1:08:39[SPEAKER_01]: He has conversations with other people.
- 1:08:42[SPEAKER_02]: He's kind of a, let's find his arc in the revival itself, his overall arc that where we kind of like land.
- 1:08:48[SPEAKER_02]: We kind of like, we place him down as I said, when I'm making noise in Nancy.
- 1:08:52[SPEAKER_02]: Tenaz.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:08:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:08:54[SPEAKER_02]: Where's Emily's arc is beautiful on the whole, like within the scope of the whole series and what makes her arc in a year and life so beautiful is informed by what we saw of her in the original series, but she does obviously have more of an arc than just he isn't really there as much because I put it's called Mary on the rules.
- 1:09:13[SPEAKER_02]: So Mary on a men.
- 1:09:15[SPEAKER_02]: Mary on a men because you go.
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but Emily is the the one I put next to like she's her arc is beautiful.
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_02]: We talked about it a lot at the beginning of this episode, so I don't need to pick it apart, but yeah, I put bird a bird a loving Emily.
- 1:09:32[SPEAKER_00]: I like you too.
- 1:09:34[SPEAKER_01]: I loved the fight between Lorelie and Emily and Winter.
- 1:09:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was good.
- 1:09:38[SPEAKER_01]: Literally the most vicious fight that could have happened 100% sure of growing weapons, but honestly, the words were worse.
- 1:09:47[SPEAKER_01]: But, and we'll cover everything that Lorelie could have said about Richard at this little after the funeral gathering where everyone is
- 1:09:57[SPEAKER_01]: listening to music and saying nice things about him, we'll cover that in a Richard specific episode because there's so many things she could have said about this man.
- 1:10:06[SPEAKER_01]: So many so many in that she also could have not said anything at all.
- 1:10:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, sometimes I thought shit stay inside.
- 1:10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you should just pretend you're asleep.
- 1:10:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like what was this named Marshall Martin?
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, one of the two.
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_02]: And she should have stayed asleep with him.
- 1:10:23[SPEAKER_01]: yeah just pretend you're asleep it's not that hard just don't make just just don't open your eyes didn't open your eyes but we will talk about that but the fight I loved it it was so mean but between the two of them no no loved it yeah I agree
- 1:10:43[SPEAKER_02]: I love the Gilmour Girls.
- 1:10:45[SPEAKER_02]: I love the memories writing this book.
- 1:10:47[SPEAKER_02]: I love the memories.
- 1:10:49[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, you're a good thing you host this podcast.
- 1:10:53[SPEAKER_02]: I love that Rory knows where she wants to write at the end of the first part of fall.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_02]: I just love it.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_02]: I love the idea of her writing this book and that that is where.
- 1:11:05[SPEAKER_02]: her journey is headed.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_01]: I do think and I have always said this.
- 1:11:13[SPEAKER_01]: I am disappointed that it came from Jess and that I did not come from her, but it is very Jess of Jess to inspire her to do something.
- 1:11:23[SPEAKER_01]: Whether it's yelling at her to get back to Yale, I do wish it would have been something that she had
- 1:11:30[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I also think that we said that we wish that we had a scene with Jess and Roy like running into each other before the scene at the star's Holocaust at because they come in really such they rushed it and it's like there's a lot of familiarity there and yes, maybe they keep in touch, but it was a little too much for him to just be like you should write a book.
- 1:11:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, do you want me to talk about you somewhere?
- 1:11:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you should write a book like that's a big conversation.
- 1:11:57[SPEAKER_02]: I think that he should have run into her maybe earlier and then came in.
- 1:12:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, similarly to it would have been a really good parallel to Bella Lakers.
- 1:12:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he sees her.
- 1:12:12[SPEAKER_02]: They're chatting.
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_02]: He realizes, oh, she's lost.
- 1:12:16[SPEAKER_02]: Can I see you again?
- 1:12:18[SPEAKER_02]: They see each other again, famously, we get the wattage drop out of yellow and maybe this is to write a book exactly.
- 1:12:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there you go.
- 1:12:29[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that it could have been done similarly, but again, this is in a perfect world where my living to Mulea, who we deduced that probably at that time, he was at least filming this is us.
- 1:12:42[SPEAKER_02]: If not in post production, you know, maybe it filming season two, whatever, something is happening.
- 1:12:49[SPEAKER_02]: So, it was probably tough, but, you know, I agree that I would have like to see a little bit more background in history there, but I did like that the idea came from him.
- 1:13:01[SPEAKER_02]: She's being lost.
- 1:13:03[SPEAKER_02]: I'm feeling really lost these days, you know?
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I think she needs some direction.
- 1:13:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I always wanted to be so direct.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:13:10[SPEAKER_01]: You should write a book.
- 1:13:12[SPEAKER_01]: She'll write a book by the way.
- 1:13:13[SPEAKER_01]: I know you're a book.
- 1:13:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:13:15[SPEAKER_01]: I wish that it would have been like kind of off the cuff of like you could write a book about that.
- 1:13:20[SPEAKER_01]: And it kind of like seeps into her mind of like I'm gonna write a book.
- 1:13:25[SPEAKER_01]: Rather than like looking at her and being like, here's a to-do list, write a book about you and your mom,
- 1:13:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like that's it.
- 1:13:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, okay.
- 1:13:35[SPEAKER_01]: I'm with you.
- 1:13:35[SPEAKER_01]: I got totally.
- 1:13:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's something from it really hit us over the head with it But he has strong arms so like hitting us over the head with that.
- 1:13:42[SPEAKER_01]: I was really gonna do some damage.
- 1:13:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I got it.
- 1:13:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah I know that this is controversial But I love in fall the little dream scape of Mr. Toad's wild ride with the life and death brigade
- 1:13:58[SPEAKER_02]: I really like it too.
- 1:13:59[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 1:14:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I think it's so fun and something that we talked about in both summer and fall is the way that they really implement whimsy into this era of Gilmore girls in a way that we didn't quite get.
- 1:14:15[SPEAKER_02]: It was more rooted realism.
- 1:14:18[SPEAKER_01]: magical realism.
- 1:14:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, it was way more rooted in realism in the original series, but this is very good
- 1:14:28[SPEAKER_02]: the musical is not the actual musical, but when Liza sings that's why did I color Liza?
- 1:14:33[SPEAKER_02]: Because that's her name in younger.
- 1:14:35[SPEAKER_02]: When Violet sings that song, and Laura like the spotlight, never know, never know.
- 1:14:42[SPEAKER_02]: And the spotlight is on Laura like that is very dream sequence like, and the life and death brigade, very dream sequence like,
- 1:14:51[SPEAKER_02]: the wedding, very dream sequence.
- 1:14:54[SPEAKER_01]: Even more you walking through the Gilmore's house when she's going to write that, like the echoes, like imagining them sitting there, the kind of like the lighting was like almost like spotlights.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_01]: That was kind of whimsically done as well, like very different than what we had seen previously.
- 1:15:11[SPEAKER_01]: Totally but I know like I have been calling him the loser yako of the year like in a year in the life But I'm going to cherry pick that right out because I love it
- 1:15:26[SPEAKER_01]: It is good.
- 1:15:27[SPEAKER_02]: It is good.
- 1:15:28[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really fun way.
- 1:15:29[SPEAKER_01]: Are they bad dancers?
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, totally.
- 1:15:32[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, but they're having a good time.
- 1:15:33[SPEAKER_02]: And I think the scene was very well done.
- 1:15:35[SPEAKER_02]: It was it was great.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I really love how we get into it and Logan's appearance.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and we decided.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's all my favorite appearance.
- 1:15:45[SPEAKER_01]: That reveal is really good.
- 1:15:46[SPEAKER_01]: We've already seen him, but like at that point, if I can add that.
- 1:15:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's a really good reveal.
- 1:15:51[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I.
- 1:15:54[SPEAKER_02]: also controversially.
- 1:15:56[SPEAKER_02]: I have notes about the way that it was executed and shown to us, but I was absolutely tickled by the musical and we watched it.
- 1:16:04[SPEAKER_01]: See, I actually think for me that that straddles to line it does for it because it straddles it's got one foot on both sides because we talk a lot about the lore of the musical in on Patreon in the recap, I think it was summer part one yeah, this is of course we broken up into eight parts.
- 1:16:25[SPEAKER_01]: But Jeanine Tassori did the music.
- 1:16:28[SPEAKER_01]: Carol King was involved because Jeanine was talking, it was an interview that she gave, where she was talking about how she got a message from Dan Paladino of Carol King singing in the hook of Love Revolution.
- 1:16:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that's my favorite song.
- 1:16:42[SPEAKER_01]: and like that's just like kind of like an iconic series of events there and it happened so fast like I think she was doing it on Sunday, gave it to them on Monday and she was like used to like turning around really quick with like Broadway previews that sort of thing that the Laura is really fun and getting
- 1:17:00[SPEAKER_01]: Sutton involved in Christian Borough and their own history that they are all over, yeah, yeah.
- 1:17:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's like really like a theater lover's Broadway baby's sort of perfect joke.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's great.
- 1:17:13[SPEAKER_01]: The songs are horrendously fantastic.
- 1:17:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, they're so funny, um, but it's so good.
- 1:17:23[SPEAKER_01]: But the part of it that we all kind of agreed on Patreon is that like
- 1:17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Who are these people why is the musical not why is Kirk not a part of the musical why is the town trip or not a part of the musical Why is patty not a part of the musical it's like these aren't people that we care about and Happy and we don't care about violet or Carl yeah at all like these we're not an audience if you're a Broadway baby care about the lore
- 1:17:50[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'll talk to you later.
- 1:17:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'll talk to you later.
- 1:17:52[SPEAKER_01]: And it's really fun.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_01]: But this does not fit into the world.
- 1:17:55[SPEAKER_01]: This doesn't fit into the people we know.
- 1:17:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's like a 10-minute, he-he-ha-ha that like we did he-he-and-ha-ha-at, but we did-it just just doesn't feel like it.
- 1:18:07[SPEAKER_01]: You were me in pants, pure poetry, you're me in a dress.
- 1:18:13[SPEAKER_01]: Um, which I'm trying on and there's it's there's so many things that I like.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it just is like really not a part of this world.
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't care about them.
- 1:18:23[SPEAKER_01]: I wish it would have been someone that I did care about.
- 1:18:25[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I would have loved for guilt to be a part of it.
- 1:18:29[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, you know, you're coming out as the Hamilton Esk Rapper.
- 1:18:34[SPEAKER_01]: I would have done it.
- 1:18:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there were there were ways to incorporate the town into it and I think it was a mis opportunity to move this story forward.
- 1:18:42[SPEAKER_01]: No, I'm with you because I would have loved everyone working on it like it being a town project and like the drama coming from the musical Also wish you would have been in spring the spring musical Yeah, but I was so on one of my faves is a spring international food festival.
- 1:18:58[SPEAKER_02]: I love it.
- 1:19:00[SPEAKER_01]: She called it
- 1:19:01[SPEAKER_02]: Star's Hollow Epcot.
- 1:19:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I said that Star's Hollow Epcot was perfect.
- 1:19:06[SPEAKER_02]: And I loved that they revived the bit of basket.
- 1:19:09[SPEAKER_02]: So like, I appreciate it that they did that in spring, but I totally understand that like a spring musical feels like such a vibe for Star's Hollow.
- 1:19:17[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, I just wish it had felt more like, than they're on the roof did.
- 1:19:23[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
- 1:19:24[SPEAKER_02]: Wait, on that note, I would have loved to see crazy Harry Duncan.
- 1:19:27[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 1:19:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying, like, there's so many other people that they could have brought back for this that, like, just would have been perfect.
- 1:19:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, yeah.
- 1:19:34[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like Liz would have been a part of it.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_01]: Should be doing the accessories.
- 1:19:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:19:39[SPEAKER_02]: We're playing the tambourines.
- 1:19:41[SPEAKER_02]: Something.
- 1:19:42[SPEAKER_01]: Brent, bring Joel back.
- 1:19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:19:44[SPEAKER_02]: Bring Joel back.
- 1:19:46[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:19:47[SPEAKER_01]: Love.
- 1:19:49[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I really loved that we got a film by Kirk Part II.
- 1:19:52[SPEAKER_02]: I really loved that whole scene with that.
- 1:19:54[SPEAKER_01]: 100% it was hilarious.
- 1:19:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:19:57[SPEAKER_01]: Perfect.
- 1:19:58[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, the scene in the movie theater?
- 1:20:01[SPEAKER_01]: one of my favorite.
- 1:20:02[SPEAKER_02]: We were laughing so hard.
- 1:20:03[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, then you're full of honey.
- 1:20:05[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, go.
- 1:20:08[SPEAKER_01]: And then over here, Morie and Bebe are grilling.
- 1:20:11[SPEAKER_01]: Or becoming fully barbecuing.
- 1:20:13[SPEAKER_02]: Love.
- 1:20:14[SPEAKER_02]: As Marcus gave him an announcement about no outside food.
- 1:20:17[SPEAKER_02]: It's very funny.
- 1:20:19[SPEAKER_02]: So that was really on my list of like general things that, oh, the other thing that I really loved was the spring town meeting.
- 1:20:27[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, because you know we go in I really break it down because it's your birthday party.
- 1:20:34[SPEAKER_02]: It's my birthday party.
- 1:20:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's so, we've got the cast of characters.
- 1:20:39[SPEAKER_01]: We've got Tom the contractor.
- 1:20:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's perfect.
- 1:20:43[SPEAKER_02]: And that's it, that's all I needed, honestly.
- 1:20:46[SPEAKER_02]: But I broke a lot of this down, especially in Spring and Summer, because there are so many references back to episodes that Dan Paladin, oh, wrote.
- 1:20:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, cause Dan wrote those.
- 1:20:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:21:00[SPEAKER_02]: And the town meeting in Spring feels so much
- 1:21:07[SPEAKER_02]: And they're also like some some references that feel very a tail of poison fire like it's so good and it felt very he's good at writing a town meaning he loves a call back that down and he loves a call back and so the spring town meeting
- 1:21:25[SPEAKER_02]: The arguing between Bootsie and Luke.
- 1:21:27[SPEAKER_02]: I was like, I'm here.
- 1:21:28[SPEAKER_02]: I'm in heaven.
- 1:21:29[SPEAKER_01]: This is everything I've ever wanted.
- 1:21:31[SPEAKER_01]: Talk about a turkey burgers.
- 1:21:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:21:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just tell him his turkey burgers are very dry.
- 1:21:35[SPEAKER_01]: Tell him, tell him.
- 1:21:36[SPEAKER_01]: It also made a lot of sense that Dan wrote if this is a sandwich he wrote the filling, because it is more re-forward.
- 1:21:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's more about Rory Sternie, because he's always felt a strong connection to Rory, yeah, Dan has.
- 1:21:50[SPEAKER_02]: And Amy, you know, implements a lot of herself and to lower life.
- 1:21:55[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, loved it.
- 1:21:56[SPEAKER_01]: The other part that I did life.
- 1:21:58[SPEAKER_01]: But one other thing I did like, which we already covered was I liked them going to children.
- 1:22:02[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was me too.
- 1:22:04[SPEAKER_01]: I also loved that.
- 1:22:05[SPEAKER_01]: I loved them.
- 1:22:05[SPEAKER_01]: Regardless, regardless of our feelings of like what they could have included, I like where we went.
- 1:22:11[SPEAKER_01]: I do too.
- 1:22:12[SPEAKER_02]: I really, really loved spring part one.
- 1:22:16[SPEAKER_02]: I loved it.
- 1:22:17[SPEAKER_02]: You loved spring part one so, so good.
- 1:22:20[SPEAKER_02]: I think as I had low expectations, because I knew we were going to therapy and I was like, I don't know.
- 1:22:27[SPEAKER_02]: And I loved it between the town meeting, between going back to Chilton, I just was like, this rules.
- 1:22:35[SPEAKER_02]: This is great.
- 1:22:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:22:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:22:37[SPEAKER_02]: Spring has sprung.
- 1:22:38[SPEAKER_02]: Spring has sprung.
- 1:22:40[SPEAKER_02]: All right, talk to me about the things
- 1:22:42[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
- 1:22:43[SPEAKER_01]: How long how much longer can we talk on this episode?
- 1:22:48[SPEAKER_01]: The worst.
- 1:22:48[SPEAKER_01]: Them at the pool.
- 1:22:50[SPEAKER_01]: Why did we have to include the pool scene?
- 1:22:52[SPEAKER_01]: We could have cut that completely and given Lane a real storyline because there was genuinely nothing at the pool that was moving things forward.
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_01]: The
- 1:23:00[SPEAKER_01]: Only caveat, I will give to that.
- 1:23:02[SPEAKER_01]: It is the only reference to Laura lie and wild before she says I'm going to do wild because she's reading wild.
- 1:23:09[SPEAKER_01]: And I really wish that if we were going to make that such an important storyline for Laura lie that we had bread come to that a lot better because all we get from the only thing that feels important at the pool scene is her reading wild.
- 1:23:30[SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely no reason to include that and to shame the man pat Who they give a nickname that we don't even want to repeat here.
- 1:23:38[SPEAKER_01]: We should not be talking about people's bodies like this because it made me ultra uncomfortable that Lorela's best friend a plus size woman Yep
- 1:23:50[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like what we've been thinking about your best friend this whole time and it just made me I don't I don't like the joke.
- 1:23:57[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't like it in 2016.
- 1:23:59[SPEAKER_01]: We had moved well past that.
- 1:24:01[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like at that point we know better how to respect people in the way that we communicate about them in media.
- 1:24:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I didn't like it.
- 1:24:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like it.
- 1:24:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like a woman.
- 1:24:14[SPEAKER_01]: I don't not big fans of that, and that was really, it can't gross.
- 1:24:18[SPEAKER_01]: Like, the biggest surprise from us is topper, was finding out that we could have cut the pool scenes, but kept the musical.
- 1:24:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, that was a big surprise for us, but yeah, cut the pool.
- 1:24:30[SPEAKER_01]: Speaking of pool, cut the paw.
- 1:24:33[SPEAKER_01]: Cut the paw.
- 1:24:34[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, literally a useless useless.
- 1:24:38[SPEAKER_01]: Every inclusion of paw, if we would have just picked it up and thrown it out, wouldn't even known it happened.
- 1:24:43[SPEAKER_01]: It kind of ruined the last couple moments of it did because he breaks up the text while they're sitting at the gazebo.
- 1:24:49[SPEAKER_01]: I was like the because of their
- 1:24:53[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 1:24:53[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not funny.
- 1:24:55[SPEAKER_01]: It also makes Rory worse because not only is she having a fair or like eating in a fair because Logan has a fiance.
- 1:25:01[SPEAKER_01]: She also has a boyfriend.
- 1:25:03[SPEAKER_01]: And then she also sleeps with a wookie.
- 1:25:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:25:06[SPEAKER_01]: So for sure.
- 1:25:07[SPEAKER_01]: It just makes me like her even less and it just makes everyone seem really rude and careless.
- 1:25:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for no reason.
- 1:25:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the first thing I wrote down here was Rory.
- 1:25:16[SPEAKER_02]: period.
- 1:25:17[SPEAKER_02]: And then I wrote, okay, worries, worries and logins, a fair worry cell phones, worries conversation with Sandy says, it was so many cell phones as much as the rest of it.
- 1:25:29[SPEAKER_01]: I want it was pretty far down on the things with worry.
- 1:25:32[SPEAKER_02]: yeah just like yeah i don't know i just felt like there were a lot of worry moments that had me like what are we doing here um serial cheater her flying back and forth to London like it literally was hard for her that was also a plot hole
- 1:25:48[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know that was a plot hole as much as like, maybe, maybe Lori literally did go to London like, like that.
- 1:25:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, she just always jet lagged.
- 1:25:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:25:57[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's what she was so cranky.
- 1:25:58[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's what she was acting so weird.
- 1:25:59[SPEAKER_01]: She was just tired.
- 1:26:01[SPEAKER_01]: She's just sleepy.
- 1:26:02[SPEAKER_01]: That would make sense.
- 1:26:03[SPEAKER_01]: Does that make you a serial cheater, though?
- 1:26:05[SPEAKER_01]: To be jet lagged?
- 1:26:06[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't.
- 1:26:06[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, oh no.
- 1:26:07[SPEAKER_01]: Many people have been jet lagged and never cheated.
- 1:26:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:26:11[SPEAKER_02]: So also her box is being everywhere.
- 1:26:13[SPEAKER_02]: I wish she had the box brought them to one place.
- 1:26:16[SPEAKER_02]: I understood how they wanted it as a plot device to get her from point A to point B, but we didn't eat it.
- 1:26:20[SPEAKER_02]: But there's harder than that.
- 1:26:21[SPEAKER_01]: They're way smarter than that.
- 1:26:23[SPEAKER_01]: Also, that is how we decided that her and Jess weren't as close as we wanted them to be, because he didn't have one of her boxes.
- 1:26:29[SPEAKER_01]: That varies the mark of a regular more friend.
- 1:26:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's fine.
- 1:26:32[SPEAKER_01]: If you got a box.
- 1:26:33[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, congratulations to Jess for not receiving a box.
- 1:26:38[SPEAKER_01]: But you know who did Logan?
- 1:26:40[SPEAKER_01]: Girlie Pop, your boxes are not only spread out across states.
- 1:26:44[SPEAKER_01]: There's spread out across countries.
- 1:26:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is a bad use of a box.
- 1:26:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's great.
- 1:26:53[SPEAKER_01]: This is not how you should be using the mail system.
- 1:26:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, surely not.
- 1:26:56[SPEAKER_01]: Bad.
- 1:26:57[SPEAKER_01]: I put Yako, we all know who Yako is.
- 1:27:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't want to write his real name.
- 1:27:02[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 1:27:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yako, loser, Huntsburger, loser, Yako Huntsburger.
- 1:27:05[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me.
- 1:27:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, make sure to say it in the right word.
- 1:27:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to lose his meaning.
- 1:27:09[SPEAKER_01]: The L really is what gets it.
- 1:27:11[SPEAKER_01]: Is that I was just so disappointed.
- 1:27:13[SPEAKER_01]: He is like, and here's the thing.
- 1:27:15[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the thing.
- 1:27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Here's the thing.
- 1:27:17[SPEAKER_01]: I am still team Logan.
- 1:27:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still team Logan to my core if they did another revival and that man wasn't in it in any way Would be furious like I I very much I'm very much on board with the idea that like the Chris scene which I did forget to mention in my favorites.
- 1:27:33[SPEAKER_01]: I loved the Chris scene.
- 1:27:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so good
- 1:27:38[SPEAKER_01]: I 100% see the parallel that worry is drawing that we're in retrospect that you really only get rewatching that that she's talking to him about her pregnancy and what she wants to do with it in re-logan.
- 1:27:51[SPEAKER_01]: Hold releasey that.
- 1:27:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna wash all of that away and be a one through six, girly, and five and six Logan, team Logan forever.
- 1:28:00[SPEAKER_01]: Revival Logan, Yucko, Yucko and forever.
- 1:28:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:28:05[SPEAKER_01]: So disappointed, so disappointed, but can I tell you, very believable.
- 1:28:13[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, it's really believable that this man would be a coward with no backbone.
- 1:28:18[SPEAKER_01]: The beauty of it is that the line that he is most known for is people can live a hundred years without really living for a minute.
- 1:28:26[SPEAKER_01]: You climb up here with me.
- 1:28:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's one last minute you haven't lived.
- 1:28:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's your choice, Ace.
- 1:28:30[SPEAKER_01]: And this man, let's everyone out, make his choices for him.
- 1:28:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:28:35[SPEAKER_01]: gorgeous tragic character.
- 1:28:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, of course.
- 1:28:38[SPEAKER_01]: And you're allowing him like up against Chris who calls his office the cave because he caved because he caved and like I never believed for a moment in season seven that he would have left his father's company.
- 1:28:50[SPEAKER_01]: Though in that moment also made him the aqua loser coward because he's leaving everyone else to cover up his masses.
- 1:28:56[SPEAKER_01]: But in this moment worst is Mr. Riyako Pantsberger.
- 1:29:02[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, sorry girlies who have needed me to be your team Logan boys.
- 1:29:06[SPEAKER_01]: I still am but not not right now.
- 1:29:08[SPEAKER_01]: Not here.
- 1:29:09[SPEAKER_01]: We're still.
- 1:29:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're still the revival totally.
- 1:29:12[SPEAKER_01]: I put just as for Paris and Doyle just as for Paris and Doyle and just the feeling can
- 1:29:19[SPEAKER_01]: Just as Firlaine came in general, we could have cut the whole pool scene and given her some real self-sustained substance to work with, but with Paris and Doyle, that's just evil, like, to have, like, especially because we just covered ATX earlier this summer, like, because it was the 10-year anniversary of them all coming back together for this reunion after the series before the revival, big moment, and Danny strong and lies a while where, like, Paris and Doyle forever.
- 1:29:51[SPEAKER_01]: And she had him get divorced.
- 1:29:54[SPEAKER_02]: Crazy.
- 1:29:55[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:29:56[SPEAKER_02]: Sad.
- 1:29:57[SPEAKER_02]: I really sad.
- 1:29:58[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't like it.
- 1:29:59[SPEAKER_02]: Big sad.
- 1:30:01[SPEAKER_02]: Um, we kind of talked about this earlier.
- 1:30:02[SPEAKER_02]: We're Claudia the therapist.
- 1:30:03[SPEAKER_02]: I would have preferred for Jan from the office.
- 1:30:05[SPEAKER_02]: Speaking of characters I missed.
- 1:30:07[SPEAKER_02]: I know, Carolyn would have a lovely Carolyn, no, yeah, would have loved for Carolyn to be the therapist, but I get that it's conflict of interest she knows Emily personally, but I think it would have been a really cool cameo to have her be like, hi, Lenny.
- 1:30:24[SPEAKER_01]: I, and I love, uh, Mollora Harden.
- 1:30:28[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my queen.
- 1:30:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure it would have been great.
- 1:30:30[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she would have been excellent.
- 1:30:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like, she would have such a good get.
- 1:30:33[SPEAKER_01]: So, one under the sun, whatever.
- 1:30:36[SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
- 1:30:37[SPEAKER_01]: We leave it.
- 1:30:38[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:30:38[SPEAKER_01]: Um, another one is Luke and Laura, like, which we talked about in plot holes, but one of my least favorite sort of storylines was there, um, fertility journey.
- 1:30:51[SPEAKER_01]: uh... that like the surrogate situation do they want kids they don't want kids because it kind of just like popped up in winter ended at the end of winter we never hear about it again never hear about it ever again well except for one time when looks like you want to meet have sex with all those women and she's like you don't you understand this is
- 1:31:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which like that's a funny little joke, but that we spent so much time and so much angst in their relationship on this moment because so much of what was going on for them at that time and then continued to only create more and more attention between them throughout the year if you will.
- 1:31:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, what's this?
- 1:31:35[SPEAKER_01]: It started with this and it was like,
- 1:31:38[SPEAKER_01]: Why?
- 1:31:38[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 1:31:39[SPEAKER_02]: And for me, for me, it was also that him exploding on her at the diner about, you know, what I said earlier in the plot holes about, yeah, we're basically setting up their life so that it's separate and everything with April.
- 1:31:53[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, April's mine.
- 1:31:54[SPEAKER_02]: I'll take care of her.
- 1:31:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want your money.
- 1:31:56[SPEAKER_02]: Kind of a thing.
- 1:31:56[SPEAKER_01]: Also plot holes where was April?
- 1:31:59[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:32:00[SPEAKER_02]: At the wedding.
- 1:32:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:32:06[SPEAKER_02]: Their whole storyline, like, I love that we have.
- 1:32:09[SPEAKER_02]: I think that it makes sense that there's conflict there, only to bring them back together, but it does feel a little rinse and repeat from not only season six, but also season seven, and then the revival.
- 1:32:21[SPEAKER_01]: So, I really, like part of why I didn't like it is because it was so short-lived.
- 1:32:27[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that was a lot of the storylines here as they happened, then they were resolved very quickly.
- 1:32:38[SPEAKER_01]: to happen.
- 1:32:38[SPEAKER_01]: Like, but that one particularly was like, I was like, oh, did they talk about this again?
- 1:32:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let's watch out for this after winter.
- 1:32:45[SPEAKER_01]: Never brought it up again.
- 1:32:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I've seen like a really big deal.
- 1:32:48[SPEAKER_01]: I did like that.
- 1:32:49[SPEAKER_01]: That was how we had Paris, but like, well, I'm with you.
- 1:32:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so with you.
- 1:32:54[SPEAKER_01]: Smarter conflict could have been created.
- 1:32:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I agree.
- 1:32:56[SPEAKER_01]: And that same way, wild.
- 1:33:00[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, I understand her need like it does feel hilarious that like Laura like it'll morph all people who's famously not a camping person.
- 1:33:07[SPEAKER_02]: We're like, I'm gonna do wild and I loved loved despite the fact that I was really mad at him from the scene before prior between the two of them the end of summer when they're going back and forth about her and Luke in the kitchen about what loved it while everything that came across her.
- 1:33:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I was dying.
- 1:33:28[SPEAKER_02]: I thought
- 1:33:30[SPEAKER_01]: the bookings and that of that with Scott Patterson, some of his best work.
- 1:33:33[SPEAKER_01]: So like it's the end of summer and like everything he's explaining to her about what the outdoors are going to be and then when she comes back and the monologue that he delivers about how he would literally do anything to keep her.
- 1:33:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like both of those he was like I was confused because there wasn't a festival or a hello kitty booth like amazing love that.
- 1:33:53[SPEAKER_01]: I think for me, I actually, let me walk it back.
- 1:33:56[SPEAKER_01]: It is kind of one foot in each of them.
- 1:33:57[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't dislike wild.
- 1:34:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I think in part because like wild is of course like she did this like through her grief like she'll strayed like the reason that she went out there is like, I mean very different from where Laura is but it had a lot to do with grief.
- 1:34:15[SPEAKER_01]: And because she, I believe she was also an alcoholic, like the, the, the path that brought her there was very different than the path that brought the war lie there, but there was an element to including wild.
- 1:34:30[SPEAKER_01]: That offered a real earnestness to the feeling of grief that could have been washed over.
- 1:34:37[SPEAKER_01]: But I feel like was impacted because Amy between the end of the series and the beginning of the revival also lost her father.
- 1:34:46[SPEAKER_01]: So I wonder what element of that came from her, came from her experience, came from what she wanted to say about that loss.
- 1:34:57[SPEAKER_01]: through a character who didn't have a great relationship with him, and more so needed to in that loss, heal something with her mother, as opposed to her father.
- 1:35:09[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that there's a real.
- 1:35:13[SPEAKER_01]: Ernest Nest real.
- 1:35:14[SPEAKER_01]: Also humor, like you said before about more like going out in nature, and they're not being a Hello Kitty booth.
- 1:35:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like the coffee was going to be very difficult to make hot.
- 1:35:26[SPEAKER_01]: She was going to have to eat freeze-dried meatballs, like, uh, not more like a more awesome.
- 1:35:32[SPEAKER_01]: but I think the other part of it is the other side of like we could have been building up into this like for the only real wild reference to be that she was reading it at the pool and if you didn't see it you didn't see it I didn't see it and you didn't care about it yeah you were like she was reading wild and I was like what yeah totally missed that
- 1:35:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and unless you're like, there would be squirrelies reading like I do and everything I was, yeah, like you don't really see it and I wish that was more of a build up like we needed to see it in a bunch of different locations to eventually get it like had like beholding it with her like she's going to lose to get coffee she's holding wild.
- 1:36:08[SPEAKER_01]: She's at therapy.
- 1:36:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's in her back like it needs to like be very present and maybe it needed to be like someone gave it to her.
- 1:36:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, she how she how she found wild, would just she just pick it up.
- 1:36:22[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I think that that because that really is like the crux of her calling her mom and offering up that great story in that fantastic scene that is wild wild that it was not eminominated.
- 1:36:35[SPEAKER_01]: Also wanting to finally commit to Luke and get married.
- 1:36:40[SPEAKER_01]: It was so big for her, but it was such a small lead-up, such a small screen time, like such a small portion of her story that I think that's why I was disappointed in it because it's there.
- 1:36:52[SPEAKER_01]: The element of it is there, but I needed more.
- 1:36:55[SPEAKER_01]: Even two of them
- 1:37:02[SPEAKER_01]: like this is nothing like the book yeah like yeah something like that yeah something I totally agree with you we need to build a little more build up there and I think it's because I liked fall so much yeah it's like oh this is great why aren't we why weren't we doing this in the other episode it's like really great why were we building up to this so I think that I have a very one foot one foot out about wild
- 1:37:24[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I, I think it stands next to the musical in that way for me as well.
- 1:37:28[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, the last thing I put was that I really wanted the children conflict with Francy to be better.
- 1:37:33[SPEAKER_02]: I famously didn't really know.
- 1:37:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I understood like the symbolism of Francy coming in the bathroom and the three of them being in
- 1:37:41[SPEAKER_02]: in the bathroom together, get the bathroom together and arguably the last time we saw France, he was kind of amidst this conflict, which I famously mutated during season three.
- 1:37:51[SPEAKER_02]: So I was never really going to be drawn to this conflict, but I just didn't love.
- 1:37:57[SPEAKER_01]: Can I say, but I love her.
- 1:37:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm making, I'm meant when she yanks people into the bathroom.
- 1:38:03[SPEAKER_01]: That was like a wild thing to just say.
- 1:38:06[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much for clarifying.
- 1:38:08[SPEAKER_01]: But no, because like she was yanking people in and like to have a scene 100%, but like you said the best part of that was Paris slam in that slamming her foot against the door, and then when she was showing us her soap in.
- 1:38:22[SPEAKER_02]: But the dialogue of fancy was like it was such a call back to.
- 1:38:27[SPEAKER_02]: Um, I saw on the least where.
- 1:38:29[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:38:30[SPEAKER_02]: It was such a callback to season three of the way they used to speak to each other.
- 1:38:33[SPEAKER_02]: We, I think, get like a what's your damage other reference and like, you know, a westside story reference like we get some callbacks to that.
- 1:38:41[SPEAKER_02]: I just wish it had been.
- 1:38:43[SPEAKER_01]: a little more, well, the clever one there was that we wish that Francy would have moved on and Paris was like coming out her like high school, but Francy was like, what are you talking about?
- 1:38:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, obviously totally.
- 1:38:57[SPEAKER_01]: Literally years and years ago a decade ago that that was like the only part of it that I like.
- 1:39:03[SPEAKER_02]: maybe wished.
- 1:39:04[SPEAKER_02]: But, well, I do like that they kind of fall back into their high school self.
- 1:39:07[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:39:08[SPEAKER_02]: What I really didn't like was Paris being like, oh, so were you in worrying?
- 1:39:12[SPEAKER_02]: Koo-Koo-Koo-Koo.
- 1:39:13[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, no, it didn't really make sense.
- 1:39:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:39:19[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you know what?
- 1:39:20[SPEAKER_01]: This is really mean me realize.
- 1:39:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's like, oh, we really need to do a what if the revival.
- 1:39:26[SPEAKER_01]: We do.
- 1:39:26[SPEAKER_01]: We need to do like a rewrite.
- 1:39:28[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, God.
- 1:39:28[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many things that I'm like, oh, if we did this and put this here and brought this around this way, but we're going to save that for another episode.
- 1:39:36[SPEAKER_01]: We'll have to because we've been talking for a long time for a really long time.
- 1:39:39[SPEAKER_02]: We do still have some things to offer very quickly.
- 1:39:41[SPEAKER_02]: Our fav and least fav episodes.
- 1:39:45[SPEAKER_02]: I just did one for my fav, which I spoke to earlier, which is fall part two.
- 1:39:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's brilliant.
- 1:39:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll let you down it's literally like in the half way point.
- 1:39:54[SPEAKER_01]: But to wrap it up.
- 1:39:55[SPEAKER_02]: We start with peddle the pig running through the town.
- 1:39:57[SPEAKER_02]: It's fall.
- 1:39:59[SPEAKER_02]: I love how everybody's stories are.
- 1:40:03[SPEAKER_02]: wrapped up is not really the word I want to use but just kind of fleshed out in fall part two and brought to some sort of resolution.
- 1:40:10[SPEAKER_02]: I just arguably think it's the best.
- 1:40:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best episode.
- 1:40:14[SPEAKER_01]: It's the best episode.
- 1:40:16[SPEAKER_01]: it captures the magic that we talked about a couple of weeks ago and that come or to consider episode with dusty popping in that like the rest of it didn't really get that this is when we were recapping it we were like this is what the whole revival should have been just this half just this 50 minutes where it feels like the lighting is right because of course a lighting changes like
- 1:40:41[SPEAKER_01]: but by fall, it is that golden yellow light that we love.
- 1:40:45[SPEAKER_01]: The characters that we love are there.
- 1:40:47[SPEAKER_01]: We are reaching a conclusion, maybe not closure, but like a conclusion to everyone's storyline that I really love.
- 1:40:53[SPEAKER_01]: And controversially, I love the last four words.
- 1:40:57[SPEAKER_01]: I love the last scene.
- 1:41:00[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's a beautiful cliffhanger.
- 1:41:03[SPEAKER_01]: So maybe you took nine years to get there, but I love it.
- 1:41:09[SPEAKER_01]: I agree too.
- 1:41:11[SPEAKER_02]: The least for me, and again, I spoke to this a little bit earlier, was spring part two and summer part two.
- 1:41:17[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't love the second halves of either of them.
- 1:41:23[SPEAKER_02]: I preferred the first halves of both of them.
- 1:41:25[SPEAKER_02]: I really liked spring part one.
- 1:41:28[SPEAKER_02]: Summer part one was overshadowed by the pool scenes.
- 1:41:30[SPEAKER_02]: I really didn't like that, but outside of that, I enjoyed myself.
- 1:41:34[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 1:41:40[SPEAKER_02]: despite really enjoying the first halves because with spring part one, I felt like it was so town-oriented and as we've spoken to a lot on this show.
- 1:41:49[SPEAKER_02]: The town and the townies themselves are the heartbeat of Gilmore Girls.
- 1:41:54[SPEAKER_02]: In addition to, of course, the Gilmore Girls themselves.
- 1:41:57[SPEAKER_02]: And so having that back was really important.
- 1:42:00[SPEAKER_02]: And we got a lot of that in summer part one as well with the commentary of the musical, the town meeting.
- 1:42:05[SPEAKER_02]: I didn't love the town meeting so much.
- 1:42:10[SPEAKER_02]: Boy humor for me, but I really enjoyed the first parts, but the second parts fell flat.
- 1:42:17[SPEAKER_02]: Whereas with winter and fall though I preferred fall a little bit more, I still felt like both parts of the episode were rounded out.
- 1:42:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:42:27[SPEAKER_01]: I agree.
- 1:42:28[SPEAKER_01]: What was raised?
- 1:42:29[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I like just kind of ranked them all.
- 1:42:31[SPEAKER_01]: I put fall part two of course winter part one fall part one winter part two is I would say the same yeah the top four actually and then on your part two I would probably put spring part one about that one for me.
- 1:42:43[SPEAKER_01]: And then I just put spring and summer like I just put summer is the last one just because I I liked I like spring part two enough.
- 1:42:55[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but
- 1:42:57[SPEAKER_01]: Summer, it's just too much of it that I just couldn't get on board with this kind of fun.
- 1:43:02[SPEAKER_01]: That is one of the musicals.
- 1:43:04[SPEAKER_02]: I will say also that like spring and summer, I spring more so is, but summers don't really get more goals kind of season.
- 1:43:12[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's a really hard season to write, feeling, giving, capturing that magic.
- 1:43:16[SPEAKER_02]: I do think they take kind of with
- 1:43:24[SPEAKER_01]: think that we'll expand more on that in our what if you're in the episode later this year yeah so right it was the town element of it that really made see spring one and i think they could have brought that to summer
- 1:43:37[SPEAKER_01]: as well but yeah we'll let it live because we have a lot of what ifs to totally what if about before we part do you want to share our official season rankings now that we've made it through the entire series together one hundred percent um i thought about this a lot earlier yeah
- 1:43:57[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, we're here.
- 1:43:58[SPEAKER_01]: We've been waiting for this because it's been a video, I know.
- 1:44:03[SPEAKER_01]: So for my personal ranking, which I slightly changed.
- 1:44:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just me entering in the revival into the one that I gave at the end of season 7 recap.
- 1:44:17[SPEAKER_01]: I moved one of the seasons, and I think it's because of three watch club.
- 1:44:22[SPEAKER_01]: One moved up just a little bit.
- 1:44:23[SPEAKER_01]: I have feeling the wood.
- 1:44:25[SPEAKER_01]: And it was really, it really has the re-batch club to think because at the time of recording this, we just finished season one of The re-batch club, the season one being like Gilmore girl season one.
- 1:44:37[SPEAKER_01]: They're not seasons.
- 1:44:38[SPEAKER_01]: Very much club.
- 1:44:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that definitely impacted it.
- 1:44:43[SPEAKER_01]: But personal, this is just personal.
- 1:44:46[SPEAKER_01]: My top is season five.
- 1:44:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then season four season six season two.
- 1:44:53[SPEAKER_01]: Season one, season three.
- 1:44:55[SPEAKER_01]: It was after season three previously, revival.
- 1:45:01[SPEAKER_01]: A big space.
- 1:45:04[SPEAKER_01]: And then season three.
- 1:45:05[SPEAKER_02]: I get that.
- 1:45:06[SPEAKER_02]: I get that.
- 1:45:07[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, for me, personal has also shifted that.
- 1:45:13[SPEAKER_02]: season two is at the top.
- 1:45:15[SPEAKER_02]: Then season one, season three, season four, five, six.
- 1:45:19[SPEAKER_02]: It goes all in a row.
- 1:45:21[SPEAKER_02]: It goes two, one, three, four, five, six.
- 1:45:23[SPEAKER_02]: A year in the life, big space.
- 1:45:26[SPEAKER_02]: Seven.
- 1:45:28[SPEAKER_02]: I just thought the storytelling despite like how we kind of picked it apart just now.
- 1:45:31[SPEAKER_02]: I still think that the storytelling was a lot stronger than season seven.
- 1:45:35[SPEAKER_02]: Way stronger.
- 1:45:37[SPEAKER_02]: At least was a bit
- 1:45:42[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they could have learned it more.
- 1:45:44[SPEAKER_01]: They could have, but yeah, I agree.
- 1:45:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's no season two, but it was tough, definitely better than seven.
- 1:45:50[SPEAKER_01]: No one can convince me otherwise.
- 1:45:52[SPEAKER_01]: I know there are a lot of people who like seven better than they're viable.
- 1:45:56[SPEAKER_01]: And I, I've come and you for making such a decision.
- 1:46:00[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 1:46:01[SPEAKER_01]: But I just, it's not, I know sparkly heart.
- 1:46:03[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I know sparkly heart for us.
- 1:46:05[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:46:07[SPEAKER_02]: Tell me how you feel about your story telling.
- 1:46:09[SPEAKER_02]: Shall we go first?
- 1:46:11[SPEAKER_01]: Please go first?
- 1:46:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
- 1:46:12[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:46:13[SPEAKER_01]: First storyline.
- 1:46:15[SPEAKER_01]: Season five.
- 1:46:17[SPEAKER_01]: Season four.
- 1:46:18[SPEAKER_01]: Season two.
- 1:46:20[SPEAKER_01]: Season three and six are tied.
- 1:46:23[SPEAKER_01]: I still even having gone to the rewatch club, still feel like one is the weakest compared to three and six.
- 1:46:29[SPEAKER_01]: So that did the stay the same.
- 1:46:33[SPEAKER_01]: A big space.
- 1:46:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:46:38[SPEAKER_02]: On a storytelling level, a year in the life, what I will give them, and what I guess I'll throw to season seven as well, is the lack of resources that they had.
- 1:46:46[SPEAKER_02]: And yes, yes, yes.
- 1:46:48[SPEAKER_02]: So it's hard to ring them from a storytelling perspective, especially a year in the life, because I'm like,
- 1:46:53[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think that's why I think that's why I put it before the space in personal, is because I was like, I personally understand what has happened here, and I still love it, and I think that I am in a very particular camp of Gammel girl's fans who watched it, and it's original run, waited the not full nine years, and then got it.
- 1:47:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not like a binge
- 1:47:18[SPEAKER_01]: season 7 episode 22 and then immediately started a year in life.
- 1:47:21[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that's a very different experience.
- 1:47:23[SPEAKER_02]: A very different experience.
- 1:47:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I do have that nostalgia, same where I spent like the whole time crying because it was back in the place that I loved so much.
- 1:47:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I think that that is why it's before the big space for personal, but a storytelling, it is after the big space because the resources I'm taking into account is just the storytelling.
- 1:47:44[SPEAKER_02]: I agree.
- 1:47:49[SPEAKER_02]: season five and season two, sit on the same plane for me.
- 1:47:53[SPEAKER_02]: I think they are both beautifully orchestrated in very different ways to watch them.
- 1:47:59[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to be so good to also.
- 1:48:03[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:48:04[SPEAKER_02]: And then for me it goes four, six, six and one for me are actually on the same plane.
- 1:48:12[SPEAKER_02]: A season three is after that.
- 1:48:14[SPEAKER_02]: because I just find season three though the first half of it, first nine episodes.
- 1:48:22[SPEAKER_02]: Ish, are some of the best of Gilmore girls.
- 1:48:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, with the exception of a couple of them.
- 1:48:30[SPEAKER_02]: A couple of them in there.
- 1:48:32[SPEAKER_02]: But like, a good amount of that.
- 1:48:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's a trio.
- 1:48:35[SPEAKER_01]: Is that trio?
- 1:48:36[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's also like some of the best episodes.
- 1:48:38[SPEAKER_02]: But haunted leg.
- 1:48:40[SPEAKER_02]: And haunted leg.
- 1:48:41[SPEAKER_02]: Lazy, he's a greasy days of summer.
- 1:48:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but like apingsiety to the devil bags.
- 1:48:47[SPEAKER_01]: It's a devil.
- 1:48:48[SPEAKER_01]: It's a couple of businesses.
- 1:48:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:48:50[SPEAKER_01]: Um, well, that's the town loaner.
- 1:48:53[SPEAKER_01]: It does.
- 1:48:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's pretty good.
- 1:48:55[SPEAKER_01]: But it's really the trio.
- 1:48:57[SPEAKER_02]: It is.
- 1:48:58[SPEAKER_01]: Dance marathon.
- 1:48:59[SPEAKER_02]: After that, we get, you know, a tilt pose and fire happy.
- 1:49:02[SPEAKER_02]: Birthday baby.
- 1:49:03[SPEAKER_02]: We get, um, dear Emily and Richard.
- 1:49:06[SPEAKER_02]: And then, of course,
- 1:49:11[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, those are strings Pinocchio.
- 1:49:12[SPEAKER_02]: We get some really really good episodes towards the end, but it's not enough for me to feel like the storytelling as a whole as a series.
- 1:49:20[SPEAKER_01]: No, it was kind of strong episodes.
- 1:49:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, strong episodes.
- 1:49:24[SPEAKER_02]: And after watching season one, I actually do think that it's stronger storytelling.
- 1:49:28[SPEAKER_02]: Because it's a lot of foundation.
- 1:49:31[SPEAKER_02]: They had a lot that they were about to work with.
- 1:49:33[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, and as we watched season six admittedly, I was kind of like, oh, you guys, this is like the story telling is good, but I do think.
- 1:49:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's, it's really like a shiner episodically, it's weaker.
- 1:49:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:49:52[SPEAKER_02]: So those all kind of float, I could probably interchange a lot of them, but for now, it's cool.
- 1:49:57[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, there's no reason to have something so solid as a breaking of the Gilmore girl season that you can't change it tomorrow.
- 1:50:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like literally, like some of us need to recognize this is
- 1:50:10[SPEAKER_01]: all fictional in all of our opinions on this about the fictional thing can change it any given moment and it is never been that serious and so and this is the idea say and this is a PSA we talk about a fictional thing like it's real and we all including the two of us sometimes need to set back and be like whoa this isn't real
- 1:50:33[SPEAKER_01]: This is not real, so if you tomorrow, we're like, you know what?
- 1:50:39[SPEAKER_01]: The best season of this is episode 11 from season six.
- 1:50:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's, that's the best thing that's ever happened in a show.
- 1:50:46[SPEAKER_01]: I will applaud you for your conviction and that.
- 1:50:50[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 1:50:51[SPEAKER_01]: You know, just do whatever you want.
- 1:50:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's all made up.
- 1:50:54[SPEAKER_01]: It is, it's all made up.
- 1:50:55[SPEAKER_01]: This is, who's lying in is it anyway?
- 1:50:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's all made up and the points won't matter.
- 1:50:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's true So then of course it goes a year in the life and then seven After space No space.
- 1:51:07[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think those are space.
- 1:51:09[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, not a really big space I know you don't and I think maybe it's because I came on so strong back in 2002 2002
- 1:51:19[SPEAKER_01]: No, I probably came on really strong with Taylor and come on real strong.
- 1:51:24[SPEAKER_01]: I had quite a personality of nine for most of the 2010 for very, very small portion of it.
- 1:51:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
- 1:51:32[SPEAKER_01]: But like 28 days.
- 1:51:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's only eight days later.
- 1:51:37[SPEAKER_01]: But in 2022,
- 1:51:41[SPEAKER_01]: when we did our rankings, which I kind of want to do rankings revisited for like everything we want to know.
- 1:51:46[SPEAKER_01]: So to re-re-less into that.
- 1:51:48[SPEAKER_01]: We have to.
- 1:51:49[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be so different.
- 1:51:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if there's something that you know about me, if you've been listening to this podcast for more of this episode, I love the drama.
- 1:51:56[SPEAKER_01]: I bring the drama.
- 1:51:58[SPEAKER_01]: She does.
- 1:51:59[SPEAKER_01]: Here for the drama.
- 1:52:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:52:00[SPEAKER_01]: And maybe I'm the drama.
- 1:52:03[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe sometimes it's me.
- 1:52:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the drama.
- 1:52:06[SPEAKER_01]: Am I the drama?
- 1:52:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's me.
- 1:52:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hi.
- 1:52:08[SPEAKER_01]: Hi.
- 1:52:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the drama.
- 1:52:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's me.
- 1:52:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:52:12[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, and maybe maybe it was a wild ride coming from there.
- 1:52:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:52:19[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I'm happy to have taken the ride.
- 1:52:22[SPEAKER_01]: Me too.
- 1:52:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I can't believe it's over.
- 1:52:23[SPEAKER_01]: I can't believe Gilmore Girls has been revisited by the two of us.
- 1:52:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's entirety.
- 1:52:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.
- 1:52:30[SPEAKER_02]: Now, before we go, I know that we said that we were going to give a more certain coffee count after revisiting season one because we can't remember where we started counting cups of coffee, but I wanted to at least give a number.
- 1:52:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's kind of an unofficial count.
- 1:52:48[SPEAKER_01]: Well, at the beginning of the next episode, we will give like the official this is how many cups of coffee, Lorela and Rory drank.
- 1:52:56[SPEAKER_02]: But for now, the count that we have from a revival count, the revival count was 16 cups of coffee.
- 1:53:03[SPEAKER_02]: It was shockingly low because they were because eight of those were in the first episode.
- 1:53:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like they like really were like these girls like coffee and then they just talked about coffee the rest of the series.
- 1:53:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:53:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was such a two limited series if you will.
- 1:53:16[SPEAKER_01]: But I guess 20.
- 1:53:18[SPEAKER_01]: Terragus 29.
- 1:53:19[SPEAKER_01]: We both lost.
- 1:53:20[SPEAKER_01]: We did.
- 1:53:20[SPEAKER_02]: There was the bigger loser.
- 1:53:21[SPEAKER_02]: I was the bigger loser.
- 1:53:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:53:23[SPEAKER_02]: It's true.
- 1:53:24[SPEAKER_01]: The biggest loser if you will.
- 1:53:25[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 1:53:27[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but the unofficial coffee count for the entire series plus a year in the life is 432 cups of coffee consumed by the world.
- 1:53:36[SPEAKER_02]: Got the series.
- 1:53:38[SPEAKER_01]: how those girlies don't have tummy problems.
- 1:53:40[SPEAKER_01]: They probably don't do me.
- 1:53:41[SPEAKER_01]: They have to have tummy problems.
- 1:53:43[SPEAKER_01]: When they come back for the ultimate Christmas special that Lauren Graham was speculating about, that was not certain at all, but is going to be because once Amy hears something from Lauren, she's going to be so down for it.
- 1:53:57[SPEAKER_01]: Those girlies are going to have to skip dessert because their tummies are going to be hurting.
- 1:54:00[SPEAKER_01]: Totally.
- 1:54:01[SPEAKER_01]: Fully I'm calling it now fully 100% which it's a bummer, but no, we'll give you like the full count But like that's just the preliminary without like the first couple of episodes of season one Yeah, I'm trying to remember where that all started
- 1:54:19[SPEAKER_02]: We'll figure it out, but that is our year in the life recap and we'll have finale of, yeah, that we have a finale of Patreon of Gilmore revisited, but we will do a what if and a bit of a GTC later this year when we reached the anniversary because fun fact, this year,
- 1:54:42[SPEAKER_02]: the anniversary of a year in the life airing is the same distance away from when it aired to when Gilmore girls ended and the revival came out.
- 1:54:50[SPEAKER_02]: So nine years.
- 1:54:51[SPEAKER_01]: So like nine years from season seven to the revival and nine years from revival to now.
- 1:54:56[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which feels fun.
- 1:54:57[SPEAKER_01]: It's cool.
- 1:54:58[SPEAKER_02]: I know.
- 1:54:59[SPEAKER_02]: It's very cool.
- 1:55:00[SPEAKER_02]: So we'll talk about that later this year in November, of course, because I'm sure all of you remember waiting patiently by our most of you who were there when it came out in 2016.
- 1:55:08[SPEAKER_02]: And we were waiting for it.
- 1:55:11[SPEAKER_02]: We're just sitting there.
- 1:55:13[SPEAKER_02]: Some of us were wearing Lauraly and Roy and Paris and Suki and Lane and Emily shirts.
- 1:55:19[SPEAKER_02]: And some of us stay
- 1:55:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, thanks for being with us for all of Gummary visited if you were there from the beginning, but if you do want to go back and Here the most detailed thoughts that you could of all seasons of Gummary girls.
- 1:55:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's still there for you If you want to feel like you're binge watching Gummary rolls with your friends Join the rewatch club.
- 1:55:45[SPEAKER_01]: We're having going to be a lot of fun a fantastic time.
- 1:55:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but it starts next week next Friday But what also starts next week fall
- 1:55:55[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, and speaking of revisiting some of our episodes, or some of our opinions and our rankings, like we want to at another time, we're going to be revisiting how to have a Gilmore Girls fall.
- 1:56:09[SPEAKER_02]: And we'll have more to say on that in the next episode.
