- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the rivalry renewed tonight in the Eastern Conference Finals.
- 0:05Speaker 2: I knows star Stoyle says, he said, he said he'd
- 0:08Speaker 2: been not seeing you tonight. I got him, John.
- 0:11Speaker 1: This has got to get your blood pumping here, Richie,
- 0:14Speaker 1: this is this building and for these stakes.
- 0:18Speaker 2: Think about it.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Last year these two teams met went seven games, but
- 0:23Speaker 3: it was the second round. There was another round left,
- 0:26Speaker 3: and then obviously the finals.
- 0:27Speaker 2: There's a difference because.
- 0:29Speaker 3: You are four wins away from achieving the ultimate goal
- 0:32Speaker 3: and that's playing in the NBA Finals. So obviously the
- 0:36Speaker 3: stakes are heightened. And let's face it, this league has
- 0:40Speaker 3: always been about stars Shaq, Charles Michael, Magic, Draymond Stop right, No,
- 0:46Speaker 3: I mean, you're defensive Player of the Year.
- 0:49Speaker 4: But what to me has truly.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Been something has been the rivalries between two teams Boston
- 0:55Speaker 3: and the Lakers Chicago and Detroit US in New York.
- 1:01Speaker 3: I mean, when you get two fan bases that really
- 1:04Speaker 3: don't like one another, it adds to the rivalry. And
- 1:08Speaker 3: both teams don't like one another. We didn't in the nineties.
- 1:11Speaker 3: We respected them, don't get me wrong, but we didn't
- 1:14Speaker 3: like them. And I think it's kind of poured over.
- 1:17Speaker 2: To the new generation.
- 1:18Speaker 4: I mean, let's get it clips. Yea, the Knicks fans
- 1:21Speaker 4: don't It's not that they don't like the places.
- 1:22Speaker 2: They don't like you.
- 1:25Speaker 4: It's you. It's not the paces like you.
- 1:30Speaker 2: They don't like trash at.
- 1:31Speaker 1: The fan that was crazy nineteen ninety three to two
- 1:36Speaker 1: thousand six. Times those teams met. When you see somebody
- 1:41Speaker 1: that also of that, it fuels everything right there, it does.
- 1:46Speaker 3: And I look, I've had a lot of highs and
- 1:49Speaker 3: loans in this building. You know, people just think I've
- 1:51Speaker 3: come in here and we magically won. I was three
- 1:53Speaker 3: and three in those series you're talking about. So there's
- 1:56Speaker 3: been a lot of ebbs and flows and likedhead Bucks. Yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 3: but there needs to be more people like John Starks
- 2:02Speaker 3: who don't understand how much of a competitor.
- 2:05Speaker 5: John Stark is.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Don't try to be nice. Now, who's downstairs waiting on you?
- 2:09Speaker 2: I hope he is, John, who's downstairs?
- 2:11Speaker 3: I hope he is?
- 2:11Speaker 2: Hey, Reggie, Reggie, you had you had great performances in
- 2:14Speaker 2: this building being a Indiana that and he pulled Tyres
- 2:17Speaker 2: to the side and say, hey, this is how you
- 2:19Speaker 2: should have it. This is what you should do. This
- 2:21Speaker 2: is what you should do to expect.
- 2:23Speaker 3: I think Tyresee is creating his own legacy because when
- 2:28Speaker 3: your peers come out and call you overrated. Now I
- 2:32Speaker 3: know there was only like thirteen people that said that
- 2:34Speaker 3: or whatever on that anonymous pole, but when your peers
- 2:37Speaker 3: come out there and say you're overrated, I think not
- 2:41Speaker 3: only did that light of fuel underneath him, but if
- 2:44Speaker 3: his teammates were like, wait a minute, this is you
- 2:46Speaker 3: don't understand stand what this guy goes through every every day.
- 2:49Speaker 3: We see it every day in practice. I think it
- 2:51Speaker 3: is light a fuel under the Pacers and that's why
- 2:55Speaker 3: not only his performance is during this postseason, but the
- 2:58Speaker 3: way the team has played a lot that has to
- 3:00Speaker 3: do with the athletic pole.
- 3:03Speaker 2: I agree they're playing for him, yes, like they're playing
- 3:06Speaker 2: to prove something for him. Yes. And the togetherness of
- 3:09Speaker 2: this group is West carry then, and you know they
- 3:11Speaker 2: made Cleveland look disjoint it because of how together they were.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And you know that's the sound of a great team
- 3:17Speaker 2: four together for your guy, a great leader as well.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Well.
- 3:21Speaker 6: I think I like Halliburn, but I think the reason
- 3:24Speaker 6: that Paciers are here is Siakam. I think he's the
- 3:28Speaker 6: most underrated player in the NBA. He's the best player
- 3:32Speaker 6: on their team, but he's the most underrated player in
- 3:35Speaker 6: the NBA. And me and Dremm was talking. He's one
- 3:38Speaker 6: of the few players in the NBA who you can
- 3:40Speaker 6: never run a play for and he gets you twenty
- 3:42Speaker 6: six like pissibility and man he is so he's so
- 3:49Speaker 6: he so who's.
- 3:50Speaker 3: They're gonna be running a lot of plays for him
- 3:52Speaker 3: in this series because least the one player you put
- 3:56Speaker 3: him and Halliburton in that pick and roll, and we're
- 3:58Speaker 3: gonna see that a lot creates those mismatches. And I
- 4:02Speaker 3: know Annaanobe is going to start on him, but I
- 4:05Speaker 3: know they're going to try to get Runson into those
- 4:08Speaker 3: switches like we saw a lot in that Boston series.
- 4:10Speaker 6: Yeah, me and Kenny talk about is a lot how
- 4:12Speaker 6: bad defensively the NBAS day because everybody switches everything, but
- 4:16Speaker 6: the players want to jack up threes and never take
- 4:18Speaker 6: advantage of the mismatches.
- 4:20Speaker 2: That's the weirdest thing.
- 4:21Speaker 6: And they like, Yo, man, if a big guy's guarden a.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Little guy, y'all, do know that mean a.
- 4:26Speaker 6: Little guy's guarding the big guy somewhere out here?
- 4:29Speaker 3: We're going to see both of these teams take advantage
- 4:31Speaker 3: of those mismatches, because Brunson does the same thing for
- 4:33Speaker 3: the knickt when he gets a switch on to him,
- 4:35Speaker 3: and we see what Tyreees has done when those big
- 4:38Speaker 3: switch out on him.
- 4:39Speaker 1: You know what I love pregame one of a series
- 4:43Speaker 1: like this because it's this blank canvas. All you have
- 4:45Speaker 1: right now is well, here's something that should happen, and
- 4:48Speaker 1: here's based on the way they've played. Look, if they
- 4:51Speaker 1: don't rebound with them and keep them out of the paint,
- 4:53Speaker 1: Indiana's got no chance. Hey, if Indiana shoots a three
- 4:56Speaker 1: like they do when they try, they're able to run
- 4:58Speaker 1: up and down, the New York doesn't have a chance.
- 5:01Speaker 1: And then we see the games played, and then we
- 5:04Speaker 1: see the way all of those pre series numbers shape up.
- 5:09Speaker 1: So what do you what are you hanging your head
- 5:11Speaker 1: on right now? As this canvas is still clear.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Pace and rebounding.
- 5:17Speaker 3: I think that's going to be everything in this series.
- 5:19Speaker 3: Indiana wants to make this a track meet. We saw
- 5:22Speaker 3: that in the first two rounds versus Milwaukee and Cleveland,
- 5:26Speaker 3: and even so much Kenny Atkinson said after that Game five,
- 5:30Speaker 3: we were just exhausted.
- 5:31Speaker 4: They beat us down.
- 5:32Speaker 2: They put so much pressure on them.
- 5:33Speaker 1: They play like a college team.
- 5:35Speaker 3: You say, just their tactics. Remember now they go nine
- 5:38Speaker 3: deep and rebounding New York and watch this Mitchell Robinson
- 5:43Speaker 3: and Josh Hart. To me, Josh Hart is going to
- 5:45Speaker 3: be the X factor in this series for the Knicks.
- 5:48Speaker 3: He is great on the offensive glass. There's gonna be
- 5:51Speaker 3: a lot of Knicks and matching. If nim Hart and
- 5:54Speaker 3: those guys do not find Josh Hart, he is going
- 5:57Speaker 3: to destroy them on the offensive glass.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Saying that Indiana Chuck says as the most underrated player
- 6:04Speaker 4: and Siakam and then they have the most overrated player.
- 6:08Speaker 1: They said.
- 6:11Speaker 2: It out.
- 6:11Speaker 4: But for one thing for me, I think the difference
- 6:15Speaker 4: for the Knicks to why they've been here is called
- 6:17Speaker 4: Anthony Towns. He brings them size to the position. Last
- 6:21Speaker 4: year they were I thought played over the heads because
- 6:23Speaker 4: they didn't have size and they were playing small ball.
- 6:27Speaker 2: But he brings the size to it. But I think,
- 6:29Speaker 2: for me, when I'm looking.
- 6:30Speaker 4: At the paces, your paces, I'm looking at Karl Miles.
- 6:35Speaker 4: Turner has to win that match up. They both play
- 6:38Speaker 4: similar in terms of they will ship threes, picking Pop
- 6:42Speaker 4: he has to win the matchup against.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Carl Anthony Towns.
- 6:45Speaker 4: And I'm interested to see what Obie Topping does coming
- 6:48Speaker 4: in as a rebounder and an athlete, and he's so
- 6:51Speaker 4: he's a bigger version of what Josh Hash does Hart does.
- 6:55Speaker 4: So I'm interested to see those two guys for Indiana,
- 6:59Speaker 4: Miles Turn and Obi Topping, be the supporting cast and
- 7:03Speaker 4: get them over the top and get them into the
- 7:06Speaker 4: NBA Finals.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Drey Bonar got a question for ye, because when y'all
- 7:09Speaker 2: play Houston in the first round, there's the first round,
- 7:12Speaker 2: they throw a lot of bodies of Steff. You think
- 7:14Speaker 2: Indiana will throw a lot of bodies at Brunton because
- 7:17Speaker 2: they do have a lot of bodies to throw him
- 7:18Speaker 2: and give him that full corporation. I think they will
- 7:20Speaker 2: throw a lot of bodies at him. And I think
- 7:22Speaker 2: early on you'll see them Har who's been incredible defensively
- 7:25Speaker 2: all playoffs. I think you'll see them Har. I think
- 7:28Speaker 2: you'll see Nie Smith. I think you'll see Mathurin Matherin,
- 7:32Speaker 2: the long kid that come off the bench, Winston. I
- 7:35Speaker 2: think you'll see a mixture of all of those guys
- 7:37Speaker 2: throughout the course of the game. But I'm telling you
- 7:39Speaker 2: down the stretch, if they want to win this series,
- 7:41Speaker 2: they need to have those guys chase him around us
- 7:44Speaker 2: all first three quarters, and then when it comes down
- 7:47Speaker 2: to be for the fourth quarter, they need.
- 7:49Speaker 4: To put size on him.
- 7:50Speaker 2: So then you need to go Siakam, You need to
- 7:52Speaker 2: go Obie topping because when it comes to the fourth quarter,
- 7:55Speaker 2: he's just getting his spots and raising up on you,
- 7:57Speaker 2: and that's when you need to lane. So let those
- 7:59Speaker 2: guys iron them out three quarters and then put the
- 8:02Speaker 2: size on them if they want to try to negate
- 8:03Speaker 2: them in the fourth quarter.
- 8:04Speaker 1: June second, two thousand, that was the last time the
- 8:07Speaker 1: Knicks played a game in the Eastern Conference Finals. That's
- 8:12Speaker 1: all about to change. At the top of the hour,
- 8:14Speaker 1: Reggie Miller was here back then, Yes, he two thousand, Yes,
- 8:18Speaker 1: and we can't wait for the start of Game one. Ritchie,
- 8:22Speaker 1: thanks so much.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Chant Yes, Sergy Richie, you have to be a bad
- 8:35Speaker 5: boy to wed, I said him.
- 8:36Speaker 2: That's right. One
