- 0:22Along with all her chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop so I'd like to talk to you
- 0:32a little bit about taking time to reflect on your day at the
- 0:35end of every day. Now, for some people, this may
- 0:39seem like, an arduous task and they just want to be done with
- 0:42the day and move on. But, here's what's so important
- 0:44about it, there is not really a solid way to get better at
- 0:48things. If you don't do the work and
- 0:50figure out where you need to shift in order to be better and
- 0:54that can only happen through the process of reflection and making
- 0:58decisions about, you know. No.
- 1:00What's next? And again that all starts with a
- 1:03debrief of yourself and what happened and being able to
- 1:08decide what that's going to mean to you.
- 1:10So some people will tell you you know, you have to do a gratitude
- 1:15list at the end of the day. And I think that those are very
- 1:17powerful and I do believe they work.
- 1:20But what I consider to be a preliminary to that is sitting
- 1:25down in debriefing the day and saying, okay in a very specific
- 1:30Format of asking yourself what went well today and answering
- 1:35it, throwing it all down. What could have been better and
- 1:39writing it all down and then how do I close the gap for tomorrow?
- 1:43So I know I don't repeat the same challenges from the day
- 1:46that I just had. So for me this just shows that
- 1:50you're thinking growth minded person and you can move forward
- 1:54with what you've learned from your day so you don't repeat the
- 1:57same issues. So oftentimes we in into this
- 2:00with our kids and I think that you know, school is coming back
- 2:04up soon and people are going to be getting their kids ready in
- 2:07the morning and out the door. And if I can tell you one point
- 2:11that most people struggle with it is getting ready for school
- 2:15and getting out the door. It is arduous for people because
- 2:19you're not the only person getting ready and the kids have
- 2:23to be on point. Everybody has to be in a good
- 2:25mood and it's often a huge hot button for a family.
- 2:29And if We'll have some people have trouble getting up in the
- 2:32morning and some people you know have trouble being organized.
- 2:36This is one of the biggest hot buttons that I can tell you I
- 2:39typically see it and even if you don't have kids it's getting out
- 2:43the door in the morning getting yourself out.
- 2:46Getting your partner out the door.
- 2:47Your however, even if it's just a dog sometimes this drives
- 2:52people insane. So what I suggest is looking at
- 2:56the situation and saying what are the hot buttons, where are
- 2:58the things that we can? Improve upon what works, what
- 3:03could be better? And how do we close the gap?
- 3:05And one of the biggest things that you can do is preparation
- 3:08the night before, which is why you do the debrief the night
- 3:11before. So you have the information
- 3:13right in your hands and you don't stop until you have it
- 3:18handled and you know you're set for the next day.
- 3:21Does this seem like it's a pain in the butt to do it every
- 3:25single day? Yes and it works.
- 3:28And when you do it every day you might not have Long list on most
- 3:32days, it might just be a very short list.
- 3:33You got a nice long list of what worked and a very short list of
- 3:37what didn't work. So you know what, you can
- 3:38repeat. But I will tell you, one of my
- 3:41greatest lessons in this was with my chickens themselves of
- 3:44like, okay, getting up in the morning, taking care of all
- 3:47these animals, taking care of my Gardens, moving taking care of
- 3:52all my plants, this is running a farm is not an easy thing to do
- 3:57and having extreme awareness. Of what's working and what's not
- 4:01working, makes a tremendous difference to your process.
- 4:06So I will tell you without question.
- 4:09The best thing that I did was figure out what's working for my
- 4:13process in the morning. Because I start coaching very
- 4:16early with my clients in London and in Scotland and in
- 4:21Australia. So it's I have to be up and I
- 4:24will tell you having nailed down.
- 4:27Okay, these are my processes. This is how I'm going to do.
- 4:30Thinking about everyday, what worked, what could have been
- 4:33better? What works, what could have been
- 4:34better? What worked, what could have
- 4:35been better and how do I close that Gap?
- 4:37Has made it so much easier for me out here in the mornings and
- 4:42it gives me time to do this for you.
- 4:43I mean, can you imagine if I wasn't, if I wasn't having that
- 4:47happen, I would never have time to be able to do this.
- 4:50So the debriefs and then taking that information and actually
- 4:54putting it into play, actually, putting it into something that
- 4:58can be utilized is the Power of the information because having
- 5:02the information is just one thing but having the power of
- 5:05using that information is a completely different thing.
- 5:09You know, you can have all the smarts in the whole world but if
- 5:12you don't use the skills that you've been given, they mean
- 5:15nothing and this is where it comes into play in a big way.
- 5:19So I'm going to challenge you guys to go off today.
- 5:22Spend your day and debrief yourself at the end of it.
- 5:26Sometimes some of my clients like to do it throughout the
- 5:28day, I personally would just an end of the day.
- 5:30Earl. And I like to write it all down
- 5:32at the end of my day, but some people like to do it throughout
- 5:35their day, they just keep a little notes in their phone and
- 5:38they say, okay here's my debrief for the end of the day and then
- 5:41they work on the what could have been better as well through at
- 5:44the end of the day. So it's not just that, they're,
- 5:46they're just kind of capturing the whole thing throughout the
- 5:49day, but at the end, they write it all down.
- 5:51It doesn't matter which way you do it, as long as you get it
- 5:53done. But then you utilize that
- 5:55information and you help yourself grow it and get to the
- 5:58next level. So go out there.
- 6:00Challenge yourself, figure it out and debrief yourself.
- 6:04Because that's how you get to that next level of greatness.
- 6:07I hope you guys have a fantastic day and I will see you all
- 6:11tomorrow. Take care.
- 6:12Bye.
