- speaker-0: Hey everybody. So today I have a guest. Her name is Renee Ambries. She is the creator of Yoga for Face. She's an international best selling author, a mentor, and host of Back to Paradise podcast. Your Smile is Your Key. So today we're really I'm really excited to hear Renee's story. It's a story of loss, heartbreak, reinvention, and learning how to rebuild from the inside out. After a powerful moment of looking in the mirror. Not fully recognizing herself, Renee began asking a much deeper question. What is my body trying to tell me? The question became the beginning of her work in helping people reconnect with their body, release stress, rediscover confidence, presence, and peace. Renee, thank you so much for being on Rooted and Real with me today. So excited to hear your story. speaker-1: I'm so excited to be here. So thank you so much for this ⁓ welcoming intro. speaker-0: Yeah. So you're in the Dominican Republic, right? Yes. Or where are you? Okay. speaker-1: the DR but you hear like there's a little accent. So my roots are in Germany in the north and I have a Caribbean soul and I travel the world to spread my message. speaker-0: Absolutely, for sure. That's amazing. So, like every good story, it'd be great, Renee, for you to start from the beginning. How did you become who you are today? What is your story? speaker-1: My story. I I take it when you mentioned ⁓ there was an awakening moment. speaker-0: Yeah. Okay. speaker-1: When I l when I looked in the when I looked in the mirror. speaker-0: Okay. speaker-1: So the the the woman in the mirror, not the man in the mirror like Michael J Michael was singing. No, just like the woman in the mirror. I was forty-two and I was I was shocked. It was that picture was just like kicking kicking my ass. That was just like shaking me internal so deep. I was just like, what happened? That's that was my speaker-0: Okay. speaker-1: That was my real awakening moment ⁓ to go to the roots and connect the dots. What was happening? speaker-0: So in you looking in the mirror and you see like he's can you say a little bit more about that? I mean, is it like what what were you seeing? speaker-1: I saw s someone I was not recognizing and I was ⁓ shocked. I was shocked by looking what I see in the mirror and it is just like when you go in wonderland and then you just like take your next finger and you just like clean a little bit your eyes and you're just like okay is this true? It's just like okay, look again and I was just like, No, I take a picture. I took a picture this morning I I was just like I can't believe what I see. I took a picture because this is all this is the picture I when you even like when you go on my websites, that became now just like my my proof that everything is possible when you set yourself free. And specific when it comes to the beauty topic. speaker-0: Mm. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. So I mean, wh how did all this I mean, once you saw yourself in the mirror, you saw something needed to change, then what? I mean, some people would just give up and just be like, That's just how it is. But it doesn't sound like that's what you did. speaker-1: No, and that's not that's not my nature of but if you listen to the podcast, it's it's ⁓ it's good. So we're going to talk. If if you see me on camera, so I will point out this amazing picture that was kicking my ass. And so and so this is ⁓ this is pretty marked. And when I talk about it everything that's written in your face, it's your whole lifetime story. So what I saw, I saw a woman that was totally exhausted. speaker-0: Okay. Yeah. Hm. Yeah. speaker-1: And I was not happy. But I understood for a second. For a second I was just like, okay. ⁓ that was after I getting separated, not divorced, but coming to this later. But ⁓ I understood in this moment every woman in the whole world, or also men. They're facing in between the same. ⁓ the the the pain By looking in the mirror and not recognizing yourself and becoming I think it's it's fear. It's just like the shock that's entering your system. So is this really over? Is it done? Is it is my life done? Is my beauty done? It's just like so this is what ha is happening. That was happening to me and I happened to to a lot of others. And I was just like really okay. I was twenty two years a professional athlete. speaker-0: Yeah. Okay. speaker-1: ⁓ pain when I was 31. So I had to learn to walk again pain free. I had to learn how to ⁓ to to reconnect with my body. After I was I was designing a total new design, I was always wanted. But here the face, even though your body is nice, your age, all the stuff is showing up. So but here the thing is I was really I understood and I was like, No, because I'm in the holistic field like s sense ⁓ I can think. So I was learning about the healing and I was coming to the earth with this sense of clairvoy and and and and feeling and seeing things others not seeing. So I was thinking just like no Botox and sh and and surgery. It's just like I understand. But I I don't want that. And then and I was just starts thinking and I was just like There must be another solution. There must be something else I don't understand right now. Because when I can rebuild my body in seven years, totally, included bones and all the stuff. I was just like, that should go also with your face. So what is happening in your face? That this is indifferent. So this this how that was starting. So when I made research, so if you have hey, forty three muscles in your face. speaker-0: Yeah, for sure. For sure. There's a ton of muscles. And the n you know, people say it takes more muscles to frown than to smile. speaker-1: Yeah. Smiling seventeen. Johnny is forty three. speaker-0: Wow. Yeah. speaker-1: But here's the thing. When we talk about numbers, do you understand the numbers? Seventeen muscle, it's not so much energy than just like moving forty three in the ⁓ in in the direction that is giving you the down spiral. So it's just like a decision. You can up spiral because your body reads your body language. It's just like the choice you make if it is aware or not aware. But you're total ⁓ right. You tr you train. Yeah. Right, yeah. speaker-0: Absolutely, for sure. So you were a professional athlete when you were twenty two. What sport was that? speaker-1: No, I was playing handball. I was starting when I was nine years old. Twenty two years that was my daily ⁓ my daily in German we say bread. No, you say this in English, but it's just like this is just okay, that's your daily thing to do. That's just like my whole life and my whole lifetime and all my energy was dedicated to ⁓ on Saturday on the weekend I had to perform. So everything what I did was just like directed and to dedicated to How I can make the next weekend better? How and so I'm I'm coming from from from this but speaker-0: Yeah. So when all that came to t came to an end, you know, how did that I mean, how did it end? How did you feel when the handball ended? Like where were you at in your life when that happened? speaker-1: So ⁓ when that happened, my life was just like a second time and I I was really hitting a ball. Because when you are doing this for your whole lifetime and that is that is becoming an identity because that is what happened. I was until I was thirty-one, I was the athlete, I was the performer, I was the girl that was Monday and Friday in the newspaper. So Everything was relate to who I was able to bring on the table. So and when it comes now to become real and authentic, this has nothing to do with what you are who you are really are and what are your talents. It's something that is you're hustling on the outside and y you try to accomplish something that is maybe not your what your soul wants from you. speaker-0: Hmm, yeah. So, you know, it seems like I mean, were you happy doing all that for twenty two years? speaker-1: Happy I I had to understand what happy really means. speaker-0: Okay, sure. speaker-1: I had to understand what hyper really means because what I really ⁓ under understood, I'm turning now fifty two and what I'm talking about your life is written in your face all over. And after forty, whatever is not working in your body, your body is your message, your best friend. Yeah. You are missing something. Yeah. You're missing, you're missing something. Then you have to go just like back Where you lost the energy, where you lost your purpose, where you lost your soul, where you lost your inner child, where you lost the connection to who you really are. And that's and this is where I said everybody is having a book of their own lives. If we start understanding what our mission, our soul purpose is, then everything is just like unfolding in a in a different beauty, and even your body will show up in a different way. speaker-0: Mm. Yeah. Yeah. speaker-1: that and so I wa ⁓ so we are just ⁓ shifting. When I'm talking about I had so many rebirthers ⁓ to to understand what I'm teaching today is and when it comes even to your face and to your beauty, I wanna ask you as ⁓ listener, are there sentences They are still viring in your body system where guilt, shame, and other things are getting triggered. They're coming on the table on a daily base without just like maybe being aware or conscious about that. So here's the thing 22 years pre being a professional athlete, I would not choose playing handball. That was not that was that was not my choice, but that was a choice. give me freedom and ⁓ the ability to escape from home. speaker-0: Yeah. For sure. You know, got you out of the house. And it sounds like, you know, you it seems like you did it for so long. Did you just not know anything else? Like you didn't know what your purpose was yet. speaker-1: No, and I mean it's just like when you get ⁓ so much benefits and so much ⁓ applause. Yeah. So you do that. And this is where I mean in the last two weeks, ⁓ that right now hammer happened so many things for me. And Mike Jackson was just like I feel like he's guiding me right now with the man in the mirror and one of my videos speaker-0: Mm. speaker-1: on on Instagram was going viral. And it was all about just ⁓ that he was expressing. And even that was it's so the biggest mistake he did in life was just like not loving himself. So he was a genius. I mean he was a genius. He studied what he was doing. But he was speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: Not really so he l had he had to learn to love it to do things and this is love hate. This is just like you you become so one with it that you are just like even disconnecting. So then it's just like something is like taking away and understanding those things when we are betraying ourselves for a long, long time or not just like doing it in a in a free version. You can do something in the cage version or you can do something in a free version and that will be a total difference. speaker-0: Yeah. So something you said I want to ask about is you mentioned learning to love yourself. Like, how does somebody arrive there? How does somebody know they love themselves? How do they even fathom that? We so 'cause we're so negative sometimes, we just beat ourselves up with being so negative. So if someone's sitting sitting sitting here, hearing that, being like, How the heck do I love myself? Like, where do you even start to do that? How would you start how would you answer that? Like, how would you start to love yourself? speaker-1: First by understanding and being aware maybe I don't love myself really. speaker-0: Yeah, for no, for sure. I agree with that. Like just start from the beginning. I don't love myself. speaker-1: And I stu here and it's just like this is okay, let let let put this in in my story and give you an idea and take you on my journey and I give you some ideas how you can prove or test this for your for your own, okay? speaker-0: All right. Love it. Let's go. speaker-1: So because I was I'm I'm I'm going to be a co author in ⁓ in cracking the bridge code and I'm going about my story. The first sentence my system hurt or ⁓ I remember, I still remember. speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: I think my parents were pretty overwhelmed with me, with who I am, or or whatever. But the first sentence every time when something went wrong and I was looking the wrong direction or press ⁓ just like showing up so as a little little cat. The the sentence I was getting was I'm the most evil ⁓ human being. So I I have to translate them the right way, but I'm the most evil just like person. So that's just like so I'm the devil. So and I know that this is just like this is a sentence where you just like have to figure out how to survive. To how to even show up and and stay up and that is my question for you. I can speak now in public over that, but there was just like a sentence because I was so ashamed. I was so in guilt. I was just like I just tried to make everything right. Just like I'm not getting in any trouble. I'm I'm turning fifty two, but this sentence that is my masterpiece every time getting this out of my system, specific when things are not going well. And when you have and I was here, I was never the beauty queen. So whatever sentence you have that is wiring in your system, please ignore it. Yeah. And and and and write it down and and sit with it and not run from it and not just like try to hide it, just like faces. speaker-0: Mm. speaker-1: And look where this is really coming from. And when our body is whatever, when you are sick, when you are whatever is it, overweight, what in transitions. So ⁓ I was just like I know how how I was beating up my my whole like over the sports. And so I was beating myself over and over and over, trying to accomplish, try to fit in any box. And not doing what I know I would need in this moment to feel safe, to love myself. And I know when I was really that was just like I n Model was just like decades where just like hitting ⁓ rock bottom. Then I really had to start to sit in front of the mirror. And I encourage you, go in front of the mirror, take your clothes off, just like face and just like Look what you see and just like stay in your eyes, stay with yourself. Really learn, really just like feel what's coming up. And I'm telling you, I was it's just like when you are not connected, when you are betraying yourself, the first time you start to touch yourself, your soul, ⁓ there's so much release and so much cry, but in a good way. Yeah. That's for me where the real connection. And real self love is starting when you are forgiving yourself and loving yourself or okay, whatever happened, but I know I did my best. But also knowing I can do better. It's not in like it's not about just like I have to accept I have to accept myself, just like no, everything is cool. No, sometimes we're messing up. That's not cool. When I'm not messing up, I know that's not cool, but I I can face it in the mirror and I can say, Okay, good. I forgive myself. I give myself a hug. Okay, now I let go and just like get back in my full size and in my radiance and stop fighting and bullshitting. speaker-0: Mm-hmm. Yeah. So it's more like you're you're engaging in self care and just learning to just kind of love. I mean, meet yourself where you're at. Like this is where I'm at. I'm looking myself in the face. This is where I am. This is where I'm meeting myself. And I have to decide how I'm gonna take care of myself and what I need to do. speaker-1: And that's what self marath means mean really being connected and understanding what do I need right now to nurture myself. And it's also understanding that your body when you are in this connection will always give you the the translation for what it is in the field. Like by example, when you are reconnected to your body, then it's just like you know, okay, now I have to go right. Okay, wait a second, now that feels not good, I go the other direction. So and this is and this is how you can lean and just like become really this this ⁓ what what what what what what is what is a game chamber I wish for everybody. Just like learning even to make the decisions, they are coming from your true self and nurturing and helping you to be on your path and not on your parents' path or the neighbors or the husband's or just like okay, come really in alignment. Yeah. And ⁓ show up. speaker-0: Yeah. Show up. Show up for yourself and who you're going to be. Something you said I want to touch on is like finding your purpose. Like that seems so I mean, there's like a million things pulling everyone different directions. There's things making people's decisions. Like if someone is in the process of trying to figure out their purpose, what's good for them, what's good for their soul. Do you have any recommendations or any insight into like where where they should start? speaker-1: That's that's cool that you say that because I have my certification program for my for my for my if you wanna become a teacher or you wanna teach, ⁓ and the part is really understanding your book of life and understanding what brings you joy. What are your talents? So by example, just like everything what I'm teaching, I was learning from head to toes in childhood. I'm doing the stuff you don't learn in books and I believe that you have also something that God gives you that it's that is easy for you ⁓ because for everybody else they have to work for it. But what is easy for you? What brings you joy? What do you see? What do you understand? And what is your life, your what's your story in life? Yeah. What challenges did you have? Because here, understanding that the challenge they're coming in lives, this is where you get the gold nuggets to really show up. authentic self and to make a turnaround and to inspire and become a role model in this field for others. But it it's it's about really understanding the rules of the universe, how the body is functioning, how you are functioning, to keep really an understanding. ⁓ and then yes, un unravel all the programs, clean up all the shit someone else was putting on you. speaker-0: Right. speaker-1: Yeah, and set yourself free. That's that's the whole speaker-0: The Yeah, the rewiring you're talking about, like in mental health, we call we call that like cognitive behavioral therapy, like restructuring our thought processes. So I love that you said that. And I agree, like we are told these things as children from our parents, both good and bad. And, you know, especially the bad stuff will like stick in there. And it, you know, if we don't make a decision of what to do with that information and what we're told. Like it can really propel us in a really dark path the rest of our lives. And so we have to decide, okay, my parents said this about me. Like, is that my identity? That's what I've been told from a child and during brain development and adolescence and stages of development. Like we just make the we almost make these agreements, like, hey, I've been told I'm a piece of crap. I'm gonna believe that the rest of my life. And at some point, you know, we have to decide and engage in like a how we love ourselves and B trying to figure out our purpose. And so I love like kind of the ideas that you were giving. ⁓ I'm curious to know, kind of like whether, you know, you're talking to somebody about this or you talk about on your podcast. What is like like if like I can envision someone coming here and being like, okay. I heard the podcast. I I'm gonna figure out my purpose tomorrow and be good to go the next day. Like, talk about that process a little bit. Like obviously you and I know it's not overnight fix, but like mention that a little bit. speaker-1: Okay, I I wanna bring up some magic in between. What you don't wanna miss because when we are because what I see is everybody is in the brain thinking. We need start to feel. And we have to l and if you wanna get a new perspective, if you wanna have a new identity, you have you have to shift the curtains. speaker-0: Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, for sure. speaker-1: It's like this is just so. I have, by the way, four magic moves. ⁓ helps you just like to bring the mind, the body, and the soul a little bit together. Without that, you have to understand that. You just have to do that. They are four three exercises. My ⁓ four magic moves. ⁓ when you go on renewamoris.com, you can get that for free. So grab that, do that, because our eyes can lie. On the filter and the programs you're running. You can run with open eyes through your life and you are not able to see the keys. You're not able to. That's the scenario maybe everybody knows and can re relate to. So and for that, we have to clean and to move. So these exercises will help you. And then it's just like how I would just like get you started is just like really go back in childhood. Okay. Think about speaker-0: Mm. speaker-1: What was your dream? What was the dream where you were just like sitting for the TV and just like melting a little bit? Just like so that was just like so. And ⁓ for ⁓ to give you an understanding, I I wanted that you tap go and search where did you have this feeling? Wha where was that feeling? So we need that. We need this spark, this this magic, because this is where you can just like even like feel that your soul is just like pulling in. So and I wanted to be a singer and dancer. That was mine. That was that was I was just like I was always just like so and I grew up just like okay, no singer, no dancer, that was just like you have no voice. I was just like, yeah. But having the feeling. So and look what are you doing right now in your life? How much space is having this little spark and here did you ever try it? Or is it just like in the corner? And how does it? So I I want you to connect with the spark. speaker-0: Mm. Yeah. speaker-1: I want you to connect with a spark. speaker-0: Yeah. So like I mean someone's watching this in their life. Like I wanted to be I wanted to play football and I wanted to play in the NFL. Like when you said that, that that like off moment I was like that I was playing football. I'm obviously not playing football now, but but I can I can think about that moment as a kid watching football and being like, Man, that's what I speaker-1: What what what was was so special? Give me more about. What the feeding that is coming up? What do you see? What is w what what speaker-0: Yeah, I mean it was more like a ⁓ I think it was more like a passion. Like I was like I I am happy playing football. I was passionate about it. I wanted to be good at it. I was determined. ⁓ it made me happy playing. Like yeah, I'm thinking back as a kid now watching the NFL being like, Man, that's gonna be me someday. Like a like a like almost like a maybe not peace, but I think more of an excitement. You know what I mean? Like speaker-1: was that excitement because ⁓ okay let's go it really become a deeper understanding what those things then mean. So what so when I think about being a singer and dancer, what no when I go and try to and this is here again, we have to find the language for those things. And that's the hardest part to find your own language that is not programmed. Yeah. Take time that you understand. You first you start to feel speaker-0: Hmm. speaker-1: Like you learn it like the kids, they learn in a l new language and they are just like absorbing and then just like okay, they can they find the words. So this is where you learn with your whole body system and then it will be ready and then it's served. ⁓ being a singer and dancer, I was just like because that was just like okay, I understood their message. I was able and I I was just like that is a way to express yourself in a in a peaceful way. So Peace is something where just like I feel totally connected to your story. It's just like what is the what is the desire? What is the ⁓ the joy behind so it's just like okay, you was you said you felt a little bit of peace. When I can express myself without getting in trouble, that's speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: That's peace. So music is then a different language. So and this is just like okay, and then let's see, okay, what is that and how you bring peace now in the world. Just like this understand your your soul purpose. Are you and and how are you living it or where are you hiding? And then just like okay, let your life guide you through the experiences, what's coming on the table, and be aware on a daily basis. speaker-0: Yeah. So yeah, no, I love that. I think that's like something like everyone needs to do is just reconnect with pieces of their childhood and realize like, you know, the good feelings that they had and not so much focus like how to care for that for that kid that or even caring for yourself in the way that you needed to be cared for. Like, okay, how do I do that now? And reconnecting with that child that you were. You know, how and some people I feel like would hear that and like not even remember their childhood. Like either it's blocked out or like they don't think any trauma happened. Do you have any like if someone's trying remember their childhood and what they were feeling, do you have any strategies for that? Like if someone's in that area and they're stuck. speaker-1: So what I'm teaching or what what I'm can give you that that these are the tools they was setting myself free. And this is you have to learn to connect on a daily basis with body, mind and soul. And specific when you are only in the mind, you have to learn to connect really to your body system and clean up on a daily basis. The stress, everything that is coming. I mean, first of all, what I'm really just like Maybe I have some new words for you to understand your word in a different way. You are more than you can touch. You are not thinking, you are not the soul. And we think that we have control. That is only just like we we have a little bit control. I can I can give you the control that what you can use. ⁓ speaker-0: Yeah. speaker-1: From head to toe just know that you have in some part of your life's control. And then it's just like really getting in this alignment and following the steps. So I was totally disconnected. Getting back in my childhood, getting in so I have my body exp I when I'm not saying my body is there's nothing my body didn't experience an an abuse things. And it just like occur of course, specifically childhood, the Curtains get closed and we get protected and we just are in the surviving mode mode. And until you are not safe, if you don't feel safe in your body, if you don't start to train this on a daily basis, this will it's impossible that the curtains are opening up because your life is protecting you. So you will only get what you are able to handle. And this is why it's peeling like an onion. It's unveiling when you start doing the work, start loving yourself. Stop betraying and facing in the present moment what's coming now. What feelings do I have? And this is the guidance where then you can clean up and get the memories. And this is just like a process coming back home really to to who you are. And not to you were programmed. Because we all get programmed from childhood on. So Alice Miller, she is in in in I have no idea she's so popular in the US, but she was when it goes to when it comes to epigenetic, like everything is on the is is programmed on our DNA. We have to we get programmed from childhood until we are just like thirty, ⁓ forty, and then we start to phase the awakening process and learn to reprogram. So that's just like remitalizing and this is like a chemical process. So by just like doing it. I remember when my grandpa died, I was nine. And I know that I was just like in a shock frozen I was I I was not even expressing anything. So that was just like he was dead and I was just f okay, I was frozen. I was not able to go to the to the to the how you said that the celebration. No, it's not a celebration, but ⁓ when you Make the funeral, yeah. I was just like, No, you can't go there and the next day I was just like, You don't have to go to school, but you can do some comedy in the kindergarten and some other stuff and I was just like, What other adults are doing? And I was just like, I remember still like this frozen little me. And I remember when I was starting was really with the child work. That was just like twenty years later I was the first time able to cry about the loss of my my my my grandpa. And this is how long it can take, how y big you are in survival, how much ⁓ you are nunned, how much and then it's coming back home. And when you come back home then it's just like laughing and crying, it's the same, but it's setting yourself free and the beauty is just like your body will just like Have ten kilos less and you were just like ye you can s stop breathing f maybe for the first time in your life. And this is how that's that's the magic. speaker-0: Mm. Yeah, for sure. So, you know, some questions I I like to ask, you know, as we kind of get close to the end. You know, if you had if you would gather everybody together in the world and Renee, you had one minute to tell everybody a message, what would you say? You have everyone's attention for one minute. So what would you say? speaker-1: I would say nothing. I wanna make you feel. I would say grab a pen, grab a pen and connect to heaven. Like teach you one skill that saved my life over the last thirty years. Yeah. And that's take a pen and put it between your teeth. Maybe do it with me and then you can explain how do you feel? speaker-0: I know. I I don't have a pen. I would but if you're speaker-1: If you don't have a pen, it's no problem. I can Okay. No, that's no no, you can take your finger. Okay. Uh-huh. So don't don't bite it too much. It's just like that you have a little bit that the jaw is opening a little bit, okay? So and you take care, uhhuh, that the corner of your mouth so we didn't talk that we need that, yeah? Okay. Here. We wanna activate that. And you just breathe. You have to do nothing, you don't have to think, you just like, okay, let your body do the work and just keep breathing. At the sixty seconds they change everything. ⁓ and your face is your business card, you want to train this this biceps? speaker-0: Okay. There you go. speaker-1: Uh-huh, okay. Okay, okay, okay. So and now you can ⁓ take the pen out. So don't talk, close your eyes for a second. And I invite you feel the feet on the ground, feel your sit bones, and feel the crown on your head. And now imagine with the next inhalation, fresh and clean energy is flowing into your system. It's refreshing, refilling all the free spaces now. speaker-0: Yeah, I think. speaker-1: And exhale, let go of everything you don't need anymore. And again, inhale, fresh and clean energy is coming. And exhale, let go of everything you don't need anymore. Feel your feet on the ground, feel your sit bones, and feel the crown on your head. And pay attention, how does your scalp feel? Can you feel your forehead? How do you feel your eyes, your cheeks? And how do you feel your mouth? And specific the corner of your mouth. Are they showing up? Can you feel the smile? Can you feel that your tongue is relaxed, your jaws relaxed? And now feel what your heart and your throat are responding and then feel your feet on your crown again, come back with the next inhalation and give yourself some love. Yeah, some love. And I'm looking so forward that you are telling how does it feel in your body system? Did you feel any changes? How's it going? speaker-0: Very relaxed. Like, yeah. Like very relaxed. And even like thinking about the different areas of my body also helped with that. And I think that's an exercise anyb everybody should do.
