- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome into tag Dam this Wednesday, and Kay Nannie Stevens,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Brian Sexton, and John Osier are with me today as
- 0:22Speaker 1: we recap some of Week.
- 0:23Speaker 2: One while also looking forward to Week two.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Now. There was a spirited.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Press conference from head coach Doug Peterson on Monday. We're
- 0:30Speaker 1: going to go over some of that with you right now.
- 0:32Speaker 1: We'll start out with big thing number one, closing out. Obviously,
- 0:35Speaker 1: that was an issue for the team last year and
- 0:37Speaker 1: it was an issue.
- 0:38Speaker 2: In Week one.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Had a great first half against the Miami Dolphins, but
- 0:41Speaker 1: then couldn't quite get things done in the second half.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Doug Peterson talked about the issues.
- 0:46Speaker 4: So you make that play right, you're in the anzones
- 0:49Speaker 4: twenty four to seven at the end of the third, right,
- 0:51Speaker 4: and then you're kicking off as opposed.
- 0:53Speaker 5: To giving them the ball to twenty. You know we
- 0:56Speaker 5: can stand here and play sugar wold. It coulda all
- 0:59Speaker 5: day long. Bottom line is, you know, we did not
- 1:02Speaker 5: do enough to finish the football game.
- 1:04Speaker 4: And these are all the things that as coaches and players,
- 1:10Speaker 4: you know, we need to fixed.
- 1:12Speaker 5: We need to fix and get corrected before you know.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Before this week, right, I think we all played Monday
- 1:19Speaker 1: morning quarterback with game one of the season because of
- 1:23Speaker 1: how things ended. But looking back at things now, is
- 1:25Speaker 1: it as simple as you know it was that fumble
- 1:28Speaker 1: that did everything? Or was it more to it than that?
- 1:30Speaker 6: No, they had more time, you know.
- 1:32Speaker 7: I mean in the fourth quarter alone, there was a
- 1:34Speaker 7: missed block in the run game on the left side
- 1:38Speaker 7: and a miss chip by a back on the right side.
- 1:41Speaker 6: Both that Blue plays up.
- 1:43Speaker 7: There was a quarterback misread down the field on the progression.
- 1:47Speaker 7: There's enough blame to go around in a lot of places.
- 1:50Speaker 7: In the end, this team has to finish. And I'd
- 1:55Speaker 7: be frustrated if I was Doug too, because how do
- 1:57Speaker 7: you finish well?
- 1:58Speaker 6: You just do it.
- 1:59Speaker 7: You work all week on the practice field, you're in
- 2:02Speaker 7: the meeting room. You know what the assignment is. The
- 2:05Speaker 7: key to this team is winning one of these close
- 2:07Speaker 7: games and reminding themselves, John.
- 2:10Speaker 6: That they know how to win a close game.
- 2:12Speaker 7: And by the way, the vast majority of games in
- 2:15Speaker 7: professional football are won in the fourth quarter by less
- 2:17Speaker 7: than eight points. You're gonna see this week in and
- 2:19Speaker 7: week out.
- 2:20Speaker 6: Yeah, it's what the league is.
- 2:21Speaker 8: And you know, Kyle, answer your question, yes, I think
- 2:25Speaker 8: had they scored instead of Travis et and fumbling anything
- 2:28Speaker 8: win the game, but that was not the entire game.
- 2:32Speaker 8: They still led by what ten points at that point,
- 2:35Speaker 8: there was plenty of ways to win the game. When
- 2:37Speaker 8: Doug gave that answer, it was very much. I got
- 2:40Speaker 8: a feeling he'd answered a few questions trying to sum
- 2:43Speaker 8: up the game, and he said, look, we just have
- 2:45Speaker 8: to finish the game. And as Brian said, this is
- 2:49Speaker 8: what the league is. If you play seventeen games, eleven
- 2:52Speaker 8: of them are going to come down to that last
- 2:54Speaker 8: seven minutes. They were really good at that for eleven games.
- 2:57Speaker 8: Last year, they've been really bad at it for seven games.
- 3:00Speaker 8: If they don't get good at it, they're not gonna
- 3:03Speaker 8: be a good team.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I think a little extra salt in the womb because
- 3:06Speaker 1: of how things finished last year.
- 3:07Speaker 3: It feels like this has been a streak.
- 3:08Speaker 1: So hopefully they can break that in the home opener
- 3:11Speaker 1: against the Browns this week. Our second big thing this
- 3:13Speaker 1: week is gonna be backup planning.
- 3:14Speaker 3: We thought a lot of.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Great things out of the defense this week under new
- 3:17Speaker 1: DC Ryan Nielsen, but they're gonna have to do some
- 3:20Speaker 1: work there in the secondary. Tyson Campbell suffering a hamstring injury.
- 3:23Speaker 1: That's something he has dealt with before. John, He's gonna
- 3:26Speaker 1: be out for quite a bit of time, it sounds like,
- 3:28Speaker 1: and they're not going to rush him back, but considering
- 3:29Speaker 1: what he's dealt with with hamstrings before.
- 3:32Speaker 8: Yeah, unfortunately, now because it's happened a second time, this
- 3:37Speaker 8: is what he is until we see differently, because he's
- 3:40Speaker 8: gonna be aftering stand period of time. You could tell
- 3:42Speaker 8: on Sunday when you watched him on the sidelines.
- 3:45Speaker 3: You know he knew what it was.
- 3:46Speaker 6: He felt it before and he was really frustrated by it.
- 3:50Speaker 6: You paid him, he's your guy.
- 3:52Speaker 8: I would think the Jarion Jones will step up and
- 3:55Speaker 8: have a big role. They did this Brian in training camp.
- 4:00Speaker 8: They like DeAndre Prince, they like Monterrek Brown, they like
- 4:04Speaker 8: the young guys. We're gonna find out if everybody likes John.
- 4:08Speaker 7: I can't believe you left me the easy answer here
- 4:10Speaker 7: because it was yours all last week when we were
- 4:13Speaker 7: talking about how the Jaguars would stop the Dolphins.
- 4:15Speaker 6: It's gonna be on the guys up front.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Kay.
- 4:17Speaker 6: They've got some talent.
- 4:19Speaker 7: John just went through the list, right, Monterrek Brown, Trey Prince,
- 4:22Speaker 7: Jarry and Jones looked good enough early on last week.
- 4:25Speaker 6: You're gonna throw them out there.
- 4:26Speaker 7: But the key to success without Tyson Campbell really falls
- 4:30Speaker 7: on the big guys up front.
- 4:32Speaker 6: They got decent.
- 4:33Speaker 7: Pressure on a quarterback that gets rid of the ball
- 4:36Speaker 7: in a hurry. This week they've got another. They've got
- 4:39Speaker 7: another quarterback who can get rid of the ball. But
- 4:41Speaker 7: Deshaun Watson's not playing good football right now. So my
- 4:44Speaker 7: sense is is that the defensive line can overcome the
- 4:47Speaker 7: loss of Tyson Campbell.
- 4:49Speaker 6: For Ryan Nielson in.
- 4:50Speaker 1: His group, this absolutely opportunity for them to see that
- 4:53Speaker 1: moment with Deshaun kind of spiraling as well. We'll talk
- 4:56Speaker 1: a little bit about that later in the show, and
- 4:57Speaker 1: later on in the week close things out with big
- 4:59Speaker 1: thing Number Tis. That's O line play.
- 5:01Speaker 3: We've all been.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Discussing it for weeks and weeks and weeks months, probably
- 5:04Speaker 1: at this point, saw some good things from the O lines.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Doug Peterson talked about it on Monday.
- 5:09Speaker 4: We US coaches offensive coaches felt like our offensive line
- 5:14Speaker 4: was taking.
- 5:15Speaker 5: Over the football game.
- 5:17Speaker 8: And when you get.
- 5:18Speaker 4: In that sort of frame of mind, the idea, especially
- 5:25Speaker 4: when they're when the big guys are feeling it a
- 5:27Speaker 4: little bit.
- 5:28Speaker 5: As we say, is you.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Continue to run the football right, And if that's by design,
- 5:35Speaker 4: then then that's what we did.
- 5:38Speaker 5: If it's by execution, then that's what we did.
- 5:42Speaker 4: If it's by our offensive line playing well, then that's
- 5:45Speaker 4: what we did.
- 5:46Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying.
- 5:48Speaker 3: John.
- 5:48Speaker 1: There were a lot of questions about the play calling
- 5:50Speaker 1: at the latter end of the second half, and according
- 5:53Speaker 1: Doug Peterson, he felt like the O line was playing well,
- 5:55Speaker 1: the running game was doing well, and they stuck with it.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Is that all it was?
- 5:59Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 5:59Speaker 8: Well, I think the play calling the second half did
- 6:02Speaker 8: absolutely come down to They had fifty plays for the
- 6:04Speaker 8: whole game. I think it was twenty three in the
- 6:06Speaker 8: second half. I think I have that number right. Look,
- 6:10Speaker 8: if you have very many plays, it's hard to call
- 6:12Speaker 8: very many runs or passes. They clearly felt and if
- 6:16Speaker 8: you watched the game, you felt the two they could
- 6:18Speaker 8: run and they felt like they could dictate with that.
- 6:21Speaker 8: They felt like they were getting it. It was hot,
- 6:25Speaker 8: so usually when you have weather like that, you can
- 6:28Speaker 8: start leaning on the defensive line and get more of it.
- 6:31Speaker 8: It's the old thing, Brian. The offensive line was really
- 6:34Speaker 8: good on Sunday except when it wasn't ye, And it's
- 6:37Speaker 8: very much the position in football that it's always going
- 6:40Speaker 8: to be judged on its worst moments.
- 6:42Speaker 6: It's the only position like that.
- 6:44Speaker 8: But it was good enough, I think, Brian to give
- 6:47Speaker 8: you a hope that they can run ran better than
- 6:49Speaker 8: they did.
- 6:50Speaker 3: All last season.
- 6:50Speaker 6: I agree, but it's still.
- 6:52Speaker 8: Those moments, and you know, it's supposed to be more
- 6:55Speaker 8: consistent in winning time, which in the fourth quarter on
- 6:58Speaker 8: Sunday felt like it wasn't as good as that for three.
- 7:00Speaker 7: You know, John, people are going to evaluate the line
- 7:02Speaker 7: based on three plays. The first play, which was a
- 7:04Speaker 7: sack on Anton Harrison, and then those two sacks on
- 7:07Speaker 7: second down and on third down on their final drive.
- 7:10Speaker 7: So I asked around. I know you did too. And
- 7:13Speaker 7: it turns out that on that second down sack, that
- 7:16Speaker 7: looked like it looked like Trevor held.
- 7:18Speaker 6: The ball too long.
- 7:18Speaker 7: But of course people are gonna blame the offensive line
- 7:21Speaker 7: when the quarterback is thrown to the ground. Turns out
- 7:23Speaker 7: there was a progression mistake, right, and perhaps Trevor held
- 7:26Speaker 7: the ball because he made the wrong read. It still
- 7:29Speaker 7: looks like the offensive line failed because we don't know
- 7:32Speaker 7: that during the course of the game. And then, as
- 7:34Speaker 7: I mentioned earlier, Anton Harrison looks like he totally whiffs
- 7:37Speaker 7: on Jaln Phillips on that third down sack.
- 7:39Speaker 6: But come to find out in.
- 7:41Speaker 7: Asking the question, the back is supposed to be over
- 7:43Speaker 7: their chipping. Anton Harrison had inside position thinking he had
- 7:47Speaker 7: help on the outside. There was no help there. So
- 7:49Speaker 7: it looks like Anton Harrison had a bad day. I
- 7:51Speaker 7: even thought it looked like he had a bad day.
- 7:54Speaker 7: Started the game with the sack, ended the game with
- 7:56Speaker 7: the sack.
- 7:56Speaker 6: Not so, But we don't know.
- 7:58Speaker 7: That until we have a chance to talk a little bit.
- 8:01Speaker 7: I think the offensive line is gonna be just fine.
- 8:03Speaker 7: Do you need Cam Robinson to stay on his feet
- 8:05Speaker 7: on fourth down and one, yeah, Do you need Brandon
- 8:08Speaker 7: Sheriff to hold up in the running game on third
- 8:11Speaker 7: down in the third quarter?
- 8:12Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 8:13Speaker 7: You need guys to play individually a little bit higher.
- 8:16Speaker 7: But there's real potential for this offensive line to be
- 8:18Speaker 7: a solid unit in the not too distant future.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I hope we can expect a better game out of
- 8:23Speaker 1: Anton Harrison. Obviously not what we saw from him last year,
- 8:26Speaker 1: so hopefully we can see a good bounce back this week.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Say it's here on Jagzam. Come up.
- 8:30Speaker 2: We'll do a little this or that after the break.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Jags fan c Fields First, Jacksonville's premier luxury autogroup. Go
- 8:47Speaker 1: to Fields Auto dot com. This o's this, Welcome back
- 8:57Speaker 1: to jag Zam.
- 8:58Speaker 3: We're gonna do a little this or a little that.
- 9:00Speaker 1: So let's talk about the game and we'll talk about
- 9:02Speaker 1: kind of how we're looking at things going forward. Obviously
- 9:04Speaker 1: things they can go the way we wanted in the
- 9:06Speaker 1: season opener, so hopefully how we can change those things around.
- 9:09Speaker 1: We did see good things from the running game early,
- 9:10Speaker 1: but obviously issues with both Travis Etn putting the ball
- 9:13Speaker 1: on the floor, which you never want to see, and
- 9:15Speaker 1: then also Tank bigs to be not picking up some
- 9:17Speaker 1: of those blocking plays, which has been an issue kept
- 9:19Speaker 1: him off the field last year. So what's a bigger
- 9:22Speaker 1: concern to you guys? Is Etn going to be a
- 9:24Speaker 1: fumbling issue again or is Tank going to figure out
- 9:26Speaker 1: how to do these coverages so he can stay on
- 9:28Speaker 1: the field.
- 9:28Speaker 8: OK. I'd be stunned if Travis is a fumbling issue
- 9:31Speaker 8: all season, and I want to say that's because of this.
- 9:33Speaker 8: I think he had five and twenty twenty two, which
- 9:35Speaker 8: was his first year, had none last year, So I
- 9:39Speaker 8: don't consider Travis a fumbler. I think the other day
- 9:43Speaker 8: I think he was getting ready to go and cover
- 9:45Speaker 8: the ball, and I think Holler made a great play.
- 9:47Speaker 6: Was great play.
- 9:48Speaker 8: So look, I was a big, big John Reagan's fan
- 9:51Speaker 8: back in then. Probably my favorite player of all time
- 9:53Speaker 8: wasn't a fumbler.
- 9:54Speaker 6: Guess what.
- 9:54Speaker 8: He fumbled occasionally, So you're going to fumble if you
- 9:57Speaker 8: carry the ball. In the National Football League, I think
- 9:59Speaker 8: the going to have an issue the coaching staff, and
- 10:02Speaker 8: I don't mean a problem, but an issue. It's a
- 10:05Speaker 8: one back scheme. Both of these guys have strengths. I
- 10:09Speaker 8: think the question for the running backs to me is
- 10:13Speaker 8: clearly a tank needs to run the ball, and Travis,
- 10:17Speaker 8: to me, feels like a guy who's going to get
- 10:20Speaker 8: a few yards few yards and a bit, you know,
- 10:22Speaker 8: needs carries to get that pop. How do you find
- 10:25Speaker 8: the hot hand, how do you find the right balance.
- 10:28Speaker 8: It's a good problem to have ran, but I think
- 10:31Speaker 8: it's going to be something that they have to figure
- 10:33Speaker 8: out how to get these guys in the game at
- 10:35Speaker 8: the right time.
- 10:36Speaker 7: Well, you ask the question what's more concerning, and to
- 10:40Speaker 7: me right now, Tank is more concerning because he was
- 10:43Speaker 7: the back on the field in that key situation at
- 10:45Speaker 7: the end of the game with four twenty two.
- 10:47Speaker 6: Left to play.
- 10:49Speaker 7: If you only put Tank in on running situations, the
- 10:53Speaker 7: defense will adjust right and if you can't trust him,
- 10:58Speaker 7: And by the way, the coaches went out of the
- 10:59Speaker 7: way to say they did trust him based on the
- 11:01Speaker 7: way that he played in training camp and in the preseason.
- 11:04Speaker 7: So he was on the field late in the game
- 11:06Speaker 7: because they trusted him. But if he doesn't shore that up,
- 11:09Speaker 7: if he doesn't lock that down, John, than he's not
- 11:11Speaker 7: going to be on the field in key situations. He's
- 11:13Speaker 7: just going to be the reserve back who gives them
- 11:16Speaker 7: a breather in the second and third quarter.
- 11:18Speaker 6: But when the game's on the line, it's going to
- 11:20Speaker 6: be number one out there.
- 11:21Speaker 8: Yeah, because it's a I'm called pass first offense. But
- 11:26Speaker 8: this offense needs to pass and be effective. So a
- 11:29Speaker 8: back has to be able to function in the passing
- 11:32Speaker 8: game better than he did in that big situation.
- 11:35Speaker 7: So you saw Bigsby off the four yard line goes
- 11:37Speaker 7: for twenty six on the drive where Travis fumbled and
- 11:41Speaker 7: gave them a position where they could now throw the ball,
- 11:44Speaker 7: they could do what they wanted. He's a really good
- 11:47Speaker 7: football player and an important part of what they want
- 11:49Speaker 7: to do. But he's got to shore up the assignments
- 11:52Speaker 7: in protection otherwise they can't trust him to be on
- 11:54Speaker 7: the field.
- 11:55Speaker 1: Something to keep an eye on in the second week
- 11:56Speaker 1: as they take on the Browns this week, see which
- 11:58Speaker 1: way they kind of go with that.
- 12:00Speaker 3: Who gets the ball more?
- 12:01Speaker 1: Also, two out of character games, I'll say Evan Ingram
- 12:05Speaker 1: and Christian Kirk. They've been wonderful for this offense for
- 12:08Speaker 1: the past couple of seasons.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Both of them very sure handed.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Saw definitely one drop from Christian maybe another questionable one.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Evan didn't get any really his way, or had a
- 12:17Speaker 1: couple of his way, but didn't come down with them.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Who do you think bounces back first? I hope they
- 12:22Speaker 1: both bounce back at the same time. But who's most important?
- 12:25Speaker 1: Who do you think we'll get it right? Right?
- 12:26Speaker 7: Well, if both isn't the option, I'll go with Christian
- 12:29Speaker 7: because I Miami took away Evan right. I mean, they
- 12:32Speaker 7: did everything they could they understand. He caught one hundred
- 12:34Speaker 7: and fourteen passes the year before. He is one of
- 12:36Speaker 7: the quarterback's favorite targets. He's the safety valve who came
- 12:39Speaker 7: out by the way, can make a big play down
- 12:41Speaker 7: the field too. So my guess would be that the
- 12:43Speaker 7: Browns will again try to take him out and that
- 12:48Speaker 7: will open things up.
- 12:48Speaker 6: For Christian Kirk. This week and the next week we'll
- 12:51Speaker 6: see the Bills try to cover Kirk and it should
- 12:52Speaker 6: open things back up for Evan.
- 12:54Speaker 8: Yeah, it's an interesting approach Miami took because they did
- 12:59Speaker 8: one Evan out of the game. He had been so
- 13:01Speaker 8: good last year. But I always maintain you don't want
- 13:04Speaker 8: Evan catching nine passes a game. I'm sure Evan would
- 13:07Speaker 8: like kept nine passes a game, but you would rather
- 13:10Speaker 8: have that be more of a safety valve. Last year,
- 13:13Speaker 8: to me, it felt like he was the running game
- 13:14Speaker 8: the passing game rolled into one. I'll say, because you
- 13:18Speaker 8: said Christian, I'll go with Evan as a bounce back game,
- 13:20Speaker 8: just because I don't think he's going to be limited
- 13:22Speaker 8: to one for five.
- 13:24Speaker 6: I think they would like him.
- 13:25Speaker 8: To be about a five for sixty type guy most
- 13:29Speaker 8: of the season because if he's getting that, then that
- 13:31Speaker 8: means you know there are weapons in this scheme that
- 13:35Speaker 8: you would rather have going downfield than Evan Ingram. So
- 13:38Speaker 8: I'd say he bounces back. I don't want to see
- 13:41Speaker 8: him bounce back to one hundred. I love Evan, I'm
- 13:43Speaker 8: sure everyon would love one hundred, but for the offensive sake,
- 13:46Speaker 8: bounce back to that middle where you're sort of the
- 13:49Speaker 8: engine and the option on third down.
- 13:51Speaker 7: Five key catches, probably three that converts important third downs.
- 13:55Speaker 7: I mean five for sixty, and I would agree with you.
- 13:58Speaker 7: I think that's where he is in the sweet spot,
- 14:00Speaker 7: making important catches.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I think an outlier game for both of them, just
- 14:03Speaker 1: seeing how sure handed and trustworthy they've been so far.
- 14:06Speaker 3: I have to that won't hope we don't see that again.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Stay with us here on Jagsam.
- 14:10Speaker 1: We'll look around the AFC South see what else is
- 14:12Speaker 1: going on within the division. For eleven years, dream Finders'
- 14:26Speaker 1: Homes have been proud to call themselves the official home
- 14:28Speaker 1: builder of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Visit dreamfinders' Homes dot com
- 14:31Speaker 1: for all of the available inventory and go Jags.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Welcome you back into jagxam on this Wednesday.
- 14:38Speaker 1: We're gonna look around the AFC South a little bit
- 14:40Speaker 1: because it's number too early to keep an eye on
- 14:42Speaker 1: what everybody else is doing. Three of the teams O
- 14:44Speaker 1: one one, Team one and zher start up with the Titans,
- 14:47Speaker 1: who belt the Bears, a team that did not score
- 14:50Speaker 1: an offensive touchdown but still won the games. So that's
- 14:53Speaker 1: another team that the Jags are gonna play. They'll play
- 14:56Speaker 1: them in London as well, so good to keep an
- 14:58Speaker 1: eye on both of them.
- 14:58Speaker 3: But Titans, do you have some issues?
- 15:01Speaker 7: Well, they have Will Levis, right, and Will is a
- 15:07Speaker 7: strong armed quarterback. Where we just talked about those guys, right,
- 15:09Speaker 7: I mean, he can really throw the deep ball.
- 15:13Speaker 6: But they signed Calvin Ridley, who doesn't run precise routes.
- 15:19Speaker 6: I mean when they did that, I was like, wow,
- 15:21Speaker 6: he had fifty yards receiving. I think the other day
- 15:25Speaker 6: I don't think they know what they are.
- 15:28Speaker 7: They were with Derrick Henry a pound the ball, bring
- 15:32Speaker 7: the safeties of the line of scrimmage, go over the
- 15:34Speaker 7: top of DeAndre Hopkins or whoever the big receiver was.
- 15:37Speaker 7: And now they are a different type of team, new coach,
- 15:41Speaker 7: new scheme.
- 15:42Speaker 6: New players.
- 15:44Speaker 7: I think their work in progress almost all season long
- 15:46Speaker 7: as they try to identify what they do.
- 15:48Speaker 6: Well.
- 15:48Speaker 8: Yeah, I'm gonna sort of do a broad brush over
- 15:51Speaker 8: the whole division if you're looking at it objectively. The
- 15:55Speaker 8: first week played out sort of exactly as you'd expect.
- 15:58Speaker 8: The Texans, who I think most people think are the
- 16:01Speaker 8: best team in the division, won a game that it felt
- 16:04Speaker 8: like they were in control of pushed over a good
- 16:07Speaker 8: team in the division, the Colts. The Jaguars, frankly are
- 16:12Speaker 8: were a nine and eight team last year. They had
- 16:14Speaker 8: a chance to beat another team that really didn't beat
- 16:17Speaker 8: anybody good last year and beat a lot of bad
- 16:20Speaker 8: so a nine and eight ten seventeen.
- 16:22Speaker 6: They played a.
- 16:22Speaker 8: Close game, so you feel like, okay, well Jaguars eight
- 16:26Speaker 8: and nine, nine and eight, that's how they played the
- 16:28Speaker 8: other day. And then the and the Titans are struggling.
- 16:31Speaker 8: You know, they're the one team that overhauled things in
- 16:34Speaker 8: the offseason, so it makes sense that they would be
- 16:37Speaker 8: sort of trying to figure it out.
- 16:39Speaker 6: So sort of what you'd expect.
- 16:42Speaker 8: The shame of it is the Jaguars had such a
- 16:45Speaker 8: chance to feel like they were not what I just said, right,
- 16:51Speaker 8: So they've got to start winning some games and get
- 16:53Speaker 8: back to where they're Coulpete with the Titan with the
- 16:56Speaker 8: Texans for this game. I sili think the Titans feel
- 17:01Speaker 8: like a team that are going to be trying to
- 17:03Speaker 8: figure it out. Will know five or six weeks in
- 17:06Speaker 8: if they're going to figure it out in time to
- 17:08Speaker 8: matter this season.
- 17:08Speaker 7: Is the quarterback the guy or are they going to
- 17:10Speaker 7: lean on the running backs? The defense, you know, has
- 17:12Speaker 7: some really good players on it, but I.
- 17:15Speaker 8: Think they're trying to shift to where all of a
- 17:17Speaker 8: sudden they look like all of the franchises what Levis
- 17:19Speaker 8: is the guy?
- 17:21Speaker 6: But so far because they played cave Man balling, just
- 17:24Speaker 6: beat people up.
- 17:25Speaker 1: A lot of young quarterbacks in this division. A couple
- 17:28Speaker 1: other two C J. Stroud, of course we all know
- 17:30Speaker 1: very well. Also Anthony Richardson back, we didn't see a
- 17:32Speaker 1: ton of them in his rookie season, so this is
- 17:34Speaker 1: the first we're kind of seeing him start over his
- 17:37Speaker 1: rookie year again, a couple of touchdowns rushing.
- 17:39Speaker 3: As we've seen. Is he going to figure things out exactly? Obviously?
- 17:43Speaker 1: The Cult are probably the hardest team for me to
- 17:45Speaker 1: try to pin down in this division.
- 17:47Speaker 8: Well, Anthony Richardson, so far, what is it four games?
- 17:51Speaker 8: Is going to score up with touchdowns running? Have a
- 17:53Speaker 8: spectacular play in the passing game, and then you wonder
- 17:57Speaker 8: where the consistency is outside of that, which, look, I'm
- 18:02Speaker 8: not criticizing when I say that he's in his fourth
- 18:06Speaker 8: NFL game or fifth whatever that number is up there.
- 18:09Speaker 8: You would expect, based on his scouting report coming out
- 18:13Speaker 8: for him to be that right now. Can he evolve
- 18:16Speaker 8: to where he's more than that? To me, that'll define
- 18:19Speaker 8: whether or not the Colts are really really good with
- 18:22Speaker 8: the gig because he could be or like I said,
- 18:25Speaker 8: a team that pushes a team like the Texans but
- 18:29Speaker 8: winds up nine and eight ish.
- 18:31Speaker 7: That touchdown that we just saw, right, the one that
- 18:33Speaker 7: everyone's playing on ESPN and it's all over social media,
- 18:35Speaker 7: that comes up every once in a while, right because
- 18:38Speaker 7: he's a big, strong arm guy and he threw it.
- 18:40Speaker 6: Up and let the guy go get it.
- 18:41Speaker 7: What I want to know, since those big plays don't
- 18:44Speaker 7: happen every Sunday, can he stand in the pocket on
- 18:46Speaker 7: third down and eight of his own forty five yard
- 18:48Speaker 7: line and read the defense and make the correct throll.
- 18:52Speaker 6: That's what they want to know too.
- 18:53Speaker 7: Yeah, we don't have any idea, and everyone listen, everyone's
- 18:57Speaker 7: always dazzled.
- 18:58Speaker 6: By these dramatic, huge plays.
- 19:00Speaker 7: But John, you used the word consistency. Can you do
- 19:02Speaker 7: the same thing over and over and over?
- 19:05Speaker 6: Can you be steady?
- 19:06Speaker 7: Can you take the plays that are there for you
- 19:09Speaker 7: or do you always have to try to make this dramatic,
- 19:12Speaker 7: you know, highlight reel play in order for your team
- 19:15Speaker 7: to win.
- 19:16Speaker 6: Steady beams dramatic any day.
- 19:19Speaker 8: Yeah, and that's what most teams that don't have it
- 19:22Speaker 8: are waiting for it at the quarterbackquisition.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Questions for the Texans obviously, we know how talented they are.
- 19:27Speaker 3: CJ.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Stroud, what they've surrounded him with. What's the achilles he'll
- 19:31Speaker 1: going to be for them? Because I feel like he CJ.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Stroud get sacked a lot and you want to say, oh,
- 19:34Speaker 1: we can do that, but then he makes you pay
- 19:36Speaker 1: the next play. So like, what's the kind of I'm
- 19:39Speaker 1: sure this is many people's objective trying to figure out
- 19:41Speaker 1: what the game plan is for them, But how.
- 19:43Speaker 3: Do you kind of take that take him out?
- 19:45Speaker 8: I think the Jaguars did it last year and they
- 19:47Speaker 8: played him over there. You know, you you assume that
- 19:49Speaker 8: he's going to get some you let him not take
- 19:53Speaker 8: over the game and control it. They pressured him well,
- 19:57Speaker 8: so I think you sort of take that page.
- 19:59Speaker 6: And and I didn't see this game, so I.
- 20:03Speaker 8: Don't know how the Colts tried to defend him. But
- 20:05Speaker 8: we saw last year in Houston this team can be
- 20:09Speaker 8: beat if you sort of contain C. J. Stroud and
- 20:12Speaker 8: don't let him be the entire game.
- 20:14Speaker 7: You see the play we were talking, but he hit
- 20:16Speaker 7: his knees and he got up to his knees and
- 20:18Speaker 7: threw a passer first down.
- 20:19Speaker 6: He's tremendous because he has that football He's really good.
- 20:23Speaker 3: He has that very very good.
- 20:24Speaker 7: Factor and the Migo Ryans is one of the bright
- 20:27Speaker 7: young coaches in this game. So he's well coached. He
- 20:31Speaker 7: gets how this game is played. It's tough to make
- 20:34Speaker 7: him make mistakes. I don't know if there is an
- 20:36Speaker 7: Achilles heal for him, it will be injuries. I would
- 20:39Speaker 7: think along the offensive line that protects him that might
- 20:42Speaker 7: make him vulnerable.
- 20:44Speaker 1: We'll see in a couple of weeks as Jacksonville heads
- 20:46Speaker 1: to Houston, think week four, yeah, four four, So we'll
- 20:50Speaker 1: keep an eye on that.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Stay with here on jag Zam.

- 21:58Speaker 3: Ryan Neilson was having fun on Sunday. Defense played really well.
- 22:00Speaker 3: I can't fault him for that.
- 22:03Speaker 1: No matter what happened at the end of the game,
- 22:05Speaker 1: the defense did play very well their first game under
- 22:07Speaker 1: Ryan Nielson.
- 22:07Speaker 3: In that scheme, he's micd up.
- 22:09Speaker 2: So that'll come out later this week and we'll get
- 22:11Speaker 2: to hear all of the things he had to say.
- 22:12Speaker 6: Those guys like him, They like playing for him, John
- 22:15Speaker 6: because he is the real deal. He is one hundred
- 22:17Speaker 6: percent authentic.
- 22:19Speaker 7: What you see from him in that is what you
- 22:21Speaker 7: hear from him on the practice field, what they get
- 22:24Speaker 7: from him in the meeting room. I mean, he is
- 22:28Speaker 7: a high energy guy who loves ball, and it's clear
- 22:32Speaker 7: that the guys should play for him are enjoying it.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:34Speaker 8: They certainly played faster, communicated better, very encouraging start for
- 22:41Speaker 8: the defense. I played well, have to win the game, Yeah, Brian.
- 22:43Speaker 3: He treats every day like game day, no doubt.
- 22:46Speaker 7: He looked at me when I said it's opening day.
- 22:48Speaker 7: Tell me about how special that he's like, it's one
- 22:50Speaker 7: of seventeen, and I thought, I really like him even
- 22:53Speaker 7: more now.
- 22:53Speaker 1: All right, we're going to see another one of the
- 22:55Speaker 1: seventeen when they take on the Cleveland Browns in the
- 22:58Speaker 1: home opener tomorrow, and Jagsam, we'll just us and go
- 23:00Speaker 1: in depth about what they're going to face off against
- 23:03Speaker 1: with the brown See you tomorrow,
