- 0:48Speaker 1: Hey, lovelies. I just have to say, every time I
- 0:51Speaker 1: watch the opening video, I get goosebumps and chills as
- 0:55Speaker 1: I'm reading the questions do you know? And I'm like,
- 0:58Speaker 1: oh my gosh, hey guys, Happy Wednesday. I hope everybody
- 1:03Speaker 1: is having a fabulous week. I hope everybody is over
- 1:08Speaker 1: watching Couch Court with Lama because these careen read people.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I mean, you need to go over there. Okay, but
- 1:15Speaker 1: Lama and her friends are amazing. So I'm Terry True
- 1:21Speaker 1: Crime and like I said, welcome to Midday Missing. This
- 1:25Speaker 1: is where we highlight current missing person cases that need
- 1:28Speaker 1: more attention. And guys, we are here every Monday and
- 1:32Speaker 1: Wednesday at noon Central. Okay, now, before we start today,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I wanted to read you a story that looks like
- 1:43Speaker 1: came out yesterday, but I just got notified this morning.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And the reason I want to read this to you
- 1:51Speaker 1: is because there's something critical here. Okay, missing Missouri girl
- 1:56Speaker 1: found alive in sex offenders Colorado hall, five months after
- 2:02Speaker 1: she vanished. You're probably going, why are you telling us this? Okay,
- 2:07Speaker 1: she was found she was being held against her will.
- 2:11Speaker 1: What you need to know is a tip was called in. Guys.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It was a tip that led to her being found. Okay,
- 2:24Speaker 1: I mean police received a tip saying that a missing,
- 2:28Speaker 1: potentially missing female may be held at this residence and
- 2:33Speaker 1: they gave the address. Every week on here, I try
- 2:38Speaker 1: to tell you guys how important it is that if
- 2:41Speaker 1: you see something, say something, even if it's a rumor,
- 2:45Speaker 1: it's that one little bitty tip that helped find this girl. Okay,
- 2:52Speaker 1: they could have gotten there and it not been this girl.
- 2:54Speaker 1: It could have been a different girl, but it doesn't matter.
- 2:57Speaker 1: It's the fact that this time it was a girl
- 3:01Speaker 1: who was missing. So she already has to live through
- 3:05Speaker 1: what's happened to her the last five months, but this
- 3:08Speaker 1: tip helped her be found and prevent anything else. So
- 3:13Speaker 1: as we get into the stories today, I want everyone
- 3:17Speaker 1: to just think about that and why it is so
- 3:20Speaker 1: important and another reason to know why we do this
- 3:23Speaker 1: every week. Okay. We do this because getting the word out,
- 3:29Speaker 1: getting the posters out, sharing them on social media helps
- 3:33Speaker 1: more people's eyes on it that helps lead to tips. Okay, now,
- 3:41Speaker 1: the story of Lakira Goldsmith, a young mother from Montgomery,
- 3:46Speaker 1: Alabama whose bright future was stolen without any warning. Okay,
- 3:52Speaker 1: we're going to walk through Lakira's life the night she vanished,
- 3:56Speaker 1: and what you can do to help because every share,
- 4:00Speaker 1: every conversation, it matters, guys, it helps to find these individuals. Now.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Lakia Goldsmith was just twenty years old when she disappeared.
- 4:13Speaker 1: She was about five foot four but black hair, often
- 4:16Speaker 1: styled in braids, and she had warm brown eyes. Guys,
- 4:21Speaker 1: that description of her eyes got me, okay, because I
- 4:26Speaker 1: have brown eyes and I've always been told that it
- 4:29Speaker 1: means I'm full of you know what up to hear?
- 4:32Speaker 1: Why I'm centering the word shit when I don't sensor
- 4:35Speaker 1: other things? I don't know. But they also said she
- 4:38Speaker 1: was full of life and love, especially when it came
- 4:42Speaker 1: to her young son, who guys he was the center
- 4:46Speaker 1: of her world. Her family describes her as outgoing, sweet,
- 4:51Speaker 1: and vibrant. Now Lakiara dreamed of going back to school
- 4:55Speaker 1: to build a better life for her little boy. She
- 4:59Speaker 1: was known for her lod loyalty, her contagious laugh, and
- 5:02Speaker 1: her unwavering devotion to the people she loved. Okay, She
- 5:08Speaker 1: carried a permanent tribute to her late mother, which is
- 5:12Speaker 1: a tattoo of the name Mary on her right arm,
- 5:15Speaker 1: which was a daily reminder to her of where she
- 5:18Speaker 1: came from and who she wanted to honor in her life. Guys,
- 5:23Speaker 1: I love that now. Lakira's family had also effectually nicknamed
- 5:28Speaker 1: her Pig. Now two gee's Okay, not one just gee,
- 5:32Speaker 1: but two two gee's. So in Lekira embraced the name.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Many people knew her by Pig, and she was extremely
- 5:41Speaker 1: social and outgoing with many friends. Now. On the night
- 5:46Speaker 1: she disappeared, she was last seen wearing a black velvet
- 5:50Speaker 1: knee length dress, a silver rhinestone choker, necklace, silver rhinestone earrings,
- 5:57Speaker 1: and a silver lip ring. She has peers steers, her
- 6:01Speaker 1: lower lip is pierced, and she has a snake eye
- 6:04Speaker 1: tongue piercing. Now. She was wearing blonde hair extensions with
- 6:09Speaker 1: her roots you know black at the time of her disappearance.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Will Smith suffers from severe asthma and needs medication for it.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Her medicine was left behind. Now she has been hospitalized
- 6:24Speaker 1: multiple times for her asthma attacks. Now. It was November
- 6:29Speaker 1: twenty seventh, twenty eighteen, Lakira had a date with her boyfriend.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Sometime around eleven thirty pm. He picked her up at
- 6:38Speaker 1: her apartment. Guys, I just want to say. Maybe it's
- 6:43Speaker 1: because of my age, but eleven thirty PM is when
- 6:46Speaker 1: my date's over. That is when I'm going to bed.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I guess back when I was twenty, it was a
- 6:52Speaker 1: little different. But he picked her up at her apartment
- 6:55Speaker 1: on Narrow Lane Road and then they headed out for
- 6:59Speaker 1: the night. Now, in the early morning hours of Wednesday,
- 7:03Speaker 1: November twenty eighth, Lakira's grandmother saw a car pull up
- 7:07Speaker 1: outside the apartment. Now, she looked to see if it
- 7:10Speaker 1: was lakira Riot arriving home, and she saw that it was.
- 7:15Speaker 1: She witnessed Lakia getting out of the car, and then,
- 7:18Speaker 1: knowing her granddaughter was home safe, she went off to bed.
- 7:24Speaker 1: A maintenance man at the apartment complex told the family
- 7:27Speaker 1: that he let her use his phone at to am
- 7:30Speaker 1: on November twenty eighth. He left her talking on his
- 7:33Speaker 1: phone outside, and he says when he came back, she
- 7:37Speaker 1: was gone and his phone was sitting on the steps. Guys,
- 7:42Speaker 1: red flags just started popping in my head the minute
- 7:46Speaker 1: I read that this wasn't like Lakira. She was a
- 7:49Speaker 1: new mother. She never would have left her son without
- 7:53Speaker 1: a word. Now, phone calls went unanswered. Tex sat unread,
- 7:58Speaker 1: and that the sinking feeling grew louder with than everyone
- 8:03Speaker 1: who knew her. Her family reported her missing right away.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Flyers went up across Montgomery. Within days, family and friends
- 8:13Speaker 1: organized searches. I mean they were coming through neighborhoods, parks,
- 8:18Speaker 1: and abandoned lots, calling her name into the empty air,
- 8:23Speaker 1: hoping she would answer. The Montgomery Police Department opened an investigation,
- 8:30Speaker 1: but leeds were scarce. There was no clear surveillance footage,
- 8:34Speaker 1: no major digital trail, Her social and media accounts were silent.
- 8:40Speaker 1: Her phone, a lifeline for most young adults, was never recovered.
- 8:46Speaker 1: And my question there that I thought of, guys, why
- 8:50Speaker 1: did she need to borrow the maintenance guy's phone if
- 8:54Speaker 1: she had her phone? Okay, that to me is just
- 8:59Speaker 1: it makes me have a lot of questions without new
- 9:03Speaker 1: evidence or clear witness statements. Days turned into weeks, weeks,
- 9:08Speaker 1: and months, but Lakara's family has never stopped fighting. They
- 9:13Speaker 1: partnered with groups like the Black and Missing Foundation. They
- 9:16Speaker 1: held vigils, they raised funds, they shared her story online,
- 9:20Speaker 1: and they are refusing to let her name fade away.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Her aunt later said, we're not giving up. Kira deserves
- 9:29Speaker 1: to come home. Her son deserves to know what happened
- 9:33Speaker 1: to his mother. Very sworled rumors of trafficking, violence, betrayal,
- 9:41Speaker 1: but none have been confirmed. I mean, did they question
- 9:44Speaker 1: the boyfriend? What about the landlord that maintenance got? I
- 9:48Speaker 1: mean seems odd that someone would leave her with his
- 9:51Speaker 1: phone and where did he go? And why does she
- 9:55Speaker 1: have her phone with her? I don't know, I mean,
- 9:57Speaker 1: did he live on site? I just something feels very
- 10:02Speaker 1: strange about his story and it's got Terry's little radars
- 10:06Speaker 1: up and I want to talk to this guy. Okay. Now,
- 10:10Speaker 1: Unfortunately her case has garnered very little attention, which is
- 10:17Speaker 1: horrific and sickening. Now what remains is a young mother's absence,
- 10:23Speaker 1: a child's longing, and a family's aching hope for answers. Today,
- 10:29Speaker 1: Lakia Goldsmith would be twenty six years old. Her case
- 10:33Speaker 1: remains open, and Montgomery Police are urging anyone with information
- 10:39Speaker 1: to come forward, no matter how small it may seem.
- 10:44Speaker 1: If you know anything, or if you've heard anything about
- 10:48Speaker 1: Leakira on that night or since, please call Montgomery Police
- 10:53Speaker 1: Department at three three four six two five two eight
- 10:57Speaker 1: three one. Remember you can also help by sharing her
- 11:01Speaker 1: story posting or missing flyers keeping her name alive on
- 11:06Speaker 1: social media. The flyers will be posted on Midday Missing
- 11:11Speaker 1: Facebook page. Let's share them, Let's get the word out
- 11:15Speaker 1: because every person we cover here on Midday Missing matters.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Every story is a life and a family left behind,
- 11:25Speaker 1: and guys, it's a hope waiting to be fulfilled. Lakiara
- 11:29Speaker 1: Goldsmith is more than a name on a poster. Guys.
- 11:33Speaker 1: She's a daughter, a mother, a friend, and she deserves
- 11:38Speaker 1: to be found. Okay, and I want to tell you
- 11:44Speaker 1: thank you all for being a voice for the missing
- 11:46Speaker 1: and for helping us share all of these posters. I
- 11:51Speaker 1: want you, if you know of or if you have
- 11:53Speaker 1: a loved one who's missing and you're interested in having
- 11:57Speaker 1: their story featured on an upcoming up episode, or if
- 12:02Speaker 1: you want to come on for a live interview, contact Amy,
- 12:05Speaker 1: our assistant producer. You can email her at Amy at
- 12:09Speaker 1: tcwtmedia dot com, or you can send us a DM
- 12:14Speaker 1: on our Facebook page. Now, this next one is just
- 12:21Speaker 1: I mean, they're all heartbreaking. Kimberly Nicole Errington was a sweet,
- 12:27Speaker 1: kind hearted sixteen year old girl living in Montgomery, Alabama. Okay.
- 12:33Speaker 1: She was born May twenty third, nineteen eighty two. Kimberly
- 12:37Speaker 1: was five foot tall. She's weighed approximately one hundred and
- 12:40Speaker 1: ten pounds, and she had black hair and brown eyes.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Now she had a small surgical scar on the left
- 12:46Speaker 1: side of her actmen and her ears were peers now.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Her family effectually called her kim or Kiwi I'm here
- 12:55Speaker 1: for the Kiwi, here for it okay now. Kimberly suffered
- 12:59Speaker 1: from severe allergies, which often kept her indoors. Despite this,
- 13:05Speaker 1: she remained cheerful and full of life. Her personality was
- 13:09Speaker 1: described as friendly, caring, and responsible. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing,
- 13:16Speaker 1: and learning computers at school. You go girl now. On
- 13:21Speaker 1: the afternoon of October thirtieth, nineteen ninety eight, Kimberly left
- 13:26Speaker 1: her family's home around four pm to walk to the
- 13:29Speaker 1: nearby CVS pharmacy that's at the intersection of Forest Avenue
- 13:34Speaker 1: and Mulberry Street. She planned to buy candy and a
- 13:37Speaker 1: soft drink, a simple errand she made many times before.
- 13:43Speaker 1: On the day of her disappearance, Kimberly was wearing a
- 13:46Speaker 1: gray Bugle Boys shirt with a collar, light blue Levice,
- 13:52Speaker 1: white reebox sneakers with gray trim, and an emerald ring
- 13:56Speaker 1: with two diamonds on each side and a double heart
- 13:59Speaker 1: ring set with a diamond diamond. Guys, Kimberly never returned home.
- 14:06Speaker 1: When she didn't come back home, her parents immediately since
- 14:10Speaker 1: something was wrong. Kimberly was not the type of teenager
- 14:14Speaker 1: to run away or to go somewhere without telling anyone.
- 14:17Speaker 1: She had no known boyfriend, no history of behavioral issues,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and no reasons that they could find to leave voluntarily.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Now after searching for themselves, Kimberly's family reported her missing
- 14:31Speaker 1: to the police that same evening. However, because it was
- 14:35Speaker 1: Halloween weekend and due to her age, law enforcement initially
- 14:40Speaker 1: treated the case as a possible runaway. Guys, I will
- 14:45Speaker 1: not go on my rant because we all know my
- 14:48Speaker 1: thoughts on that, but if you're new here, police departments,
- 14:54Speaker 1: please do not assume a teenager is a runaway. Even
- 14:59Speaker 1: if they are away, something nefarious could happen to them
- 15:03Speaker 1: the minute they walk out the door. So you still
- 15:06Speaker 1: need to get off your butt into your job, Okay now.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Kimberly's family never believed she ran away, and as time
- 15:15Speaker 1: passed without any contact or clues, authorities finally came to agree. Huh.
- 15:22Speaker 1: Maybe she's not a runaway. I can't with these people now.
- 15:29Speaker 1: In the days and weeks following her disappearance, police and
- 15:32Speaker 1: volunteers combed through nearby neighborhoods, wooded areas, in anywhere they
- 15:38Speaker 1: thought Kimberly might have gone. Fiers were posted widely, and
- 15:42Speaker 1: her family made appearances on local news to spread the word. Unfortunately,
- 15:48Speaker 1: the CBS did not have surveillance cameras, making it extremely
- 15:53Speaker 1: difficult to trace her final movements. Guys in nineteen ninety eight,
- 15:58Speaker 1: that bothers me. Okay, Luckily, I know CBS has them
- 16:03Speaker 1: now now. Police questioned known sex offenders in the area
- 16:07Speaker 1: and investigated various rumors, but no credible witnesses ever came forward.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Because Kimberly's DNA was not available, police submitted DNA samples
- 16:19Speaker 1: from her father and one of her sisters to a
- 16:22Speaker 1: national database for future comparison. Despite their efforts, no leads
- 16:28Speaker 1: have materialized. Over time, the FBI joined the investigation, Kimberly's
- 16:35Speaker 1: case was entered into national databases such as name US
- 16:40Speaker 1: and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Still,
- 16:44Speaker 1: despite these persistent efforts and multiple public appearances, Kimberly's awhareabouts
- 16:51Speaker 1: are unknown guys. Her family is out there making the
- 16:55Speaker 1: public appeals. Theories about what happened to Kimberly ranged from abduction,
- 17:02Speaker 1: human trafficking, to a crime of opportunity. No suspects have
- 17:07Speaker 1: ever been identified. Kimberly's mother continued to fight for answers
- 17:12Speaker 1: until her passing in two thousand and five. Her father
- 17:16Speaker 1: remains alive and dedicated to finding out what happened to
- 17:20Speaker 1: his daughter. Over the years, her family has organized vigils,
- 17:25Speaker 1: media campaigns, and community outreach efforts to keep Kimberly's case
- 17:29Speaker 1: in the public eye. Her mother once said, we just
- 17:35Speaker 1: want to know what happened to our baby. Somebody out
- 17:38Speaker 1: there knows something. Today, more than twenty five years later,
- 17:43Speaker 1: Kimberly's case remains open and active. The Montgomery Police Department
- 17:48Speaker 1: and the FBI believe that someone still holds the key
- 17:52Speaker 1: to her disappearance. If you have any information about the
- 17:57Speaker 1: disappearance of Kimberly Nicole Rington, please call the Montgomery Police
- 18:03Speaker 1: Department at three three four two four one, two six
- 18:08Speaker 1: five one, or you can call the FBI at one
- 18:11Speaker 1: eight hundred call FBI guys. Tips can always be submitted
- 18:17Speaker 1: anonymously through the FBI's official website. Kimberly was a bright,
- 18:23Speaker 1: lovely young woman whose life was full of promise. She
- 18:27Speaker 1: deserved to grow up to chase her dreams and continue
- 18:30Speaker 1: sharing her kindness with the world. Her story must not
- 18:34Speaker 1: be forgotten. Someone somewhere knows what happened on that October afternoon.
- 18:41Speaker 1: So I'm asking you all again please share every flyer
- 18:47Speaker 1: that we share on missing person a missing person on
- 18:50Speaker 1: midday missing. Sorry, guys, I'm trying not to get emotional.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Please join our Facebook grow group That is where we
- 18:58Speaker 1: post all of the flyers as well as share other
- 19:01Speaker 1: flyers that we have verified. Now, I also want to

- 19:26Speaker 1: and a whole lot of comfy commentary. So guys, grab

- 19:34Speaker 1: there will not be a True Crime and Wine Time
- 19:38Speaker 1: podcast episode tomorrow night JT and I are preparing for
- 19:43Speaker 1: our live in person show in Texas this weekend, so everyone,
- 19:50Speaker 1: please stay safe, stay aware, but most importantly, if you
