- 1:44on this show, there is a special partnership that has been formed by two
- 1:47iconic food names in West Virginia talking about Tutors Biscuit World and Mister b Potato
- 1:52Chips, and that partnership. Their latest venture is going to help out the
- 1:56Make a Wish program in West Virginia. So we get some folks from Make
- 1:59a Wish and also from Tutors. I understand we're going to join us to
- 2:01talk about that. Plus, former Delegate Joshua Higginbotham has announced too he will
- 2:05be running for Agricultural Commissioner in a state of West Virginia, trying to unsee
- 2:09the two term Republican as commission Kent Leonhard Higginbotha, Mister Higginbotham is in the
- 2:14studio with us. We're going to talk to him, but first I want
- 2:16to go to the newsroom. We talk to Jeff Jenkins. Jeff, good
- 2:19morning. Horrific crime reported with some just bizarre tales surrounded it in Saint Albans.
- 2:24What's the latest. Yeah, so they found two bodies there yesterday said
- 2:29all kind of started when two people came into the Charleston Police Department downtown Charleston
- 2:34yesterday reported an incident that had happened out a house along Sapphire Road in Saint
- 2:39Albans. And and so police responded there. It was unsecured, the residence
- 2:46was there, you know, they went in. They found two bodies,
- 2:50an adult woman and a teenage boy. And as police were continuing their investigation,
- 2:55one of the people that had come into the police station identified his third
- 3:00one year old Marcus Guy. He's now been charged with murder. So Guy
- 3:04and his girlfriend go into the police station. According to criminal complaint and report,
- 3:09something had happened. Police investigated and they found out that and they've charged
- 3:15Guy with killing his girlfriend's mother and her teenage brother. Okay, and the
- 3:23victim identified as Licia Carnifix. She's thirty nine and the brother fourteen years old.
- 3:31Again, the criminal complaint says that he told his girlfriend this and then
- 3:38they went to the police station. Also, the criminal complaint says that they
- 3:43were shot multiple times and still trying to get at you know, motive exactly,
- 3:49you know, some of those the criminal complaints says some things, but
- 3:52there'll be more things coming out. But yeah, that's the you know,
- 3:55kind of strange thing is that, you know, it was reported at a
- 3:59police station, you know, at the Charleston police station. Of course it's
- 4:01a Knall County Sheriff's Department case because it's outside the city of Charleston, but
- 4:06that's what it is. Guy's been arrested, he was charged, you know,
- 4:10he didn't leave the police station. They interviewed him. They eventually charged
- 4:13him with two counts of first degree murder and he's thirty one. He's in
- 4:17the South Central Regional Jail without bail. It was just, I mean,
- 4:21the story broke, I guess yesterday afternoon, Jeff, and again you started
- 4:26asking questions about motives and we don't know that at this point, but just
- 4:30a bizarre story and all of the events surrounding it. I mean, like
- 4:34going to the Charleston Police Fort. We turned himself in at that point.
- 4:39It's been a particularly violent time it has, you know, in the last
- 4:42several weeks. And you know, we the murder of the nineteen year old
- 4:46over at the bakery shop and or Charleston, we had the murder of the
- 4:50woman on Chandler Drive at a residence there. So yeah, it's been first
- 4:56several weeks of this year. Now as we get into February, it's been
- 4:58pretty violent. Yea. Hopefully hopefully didn't stay the way Jeff, as I
- 5:01as always, I appreciate you me and again we'll talk again soon and thanks
- 5:04a lot. Today Vallet Showing five Baybelife has brought to you a part by

- 5:24guy who would like to be your next Secretary of Agriculture to Sday Josh Higginbotham,
- 5:28Jorge Us, Joshua, good morning, welcome to the show. Good
- 5:30morning, Dave, glad to be back on. Great to have you here.
- 5:32So, so, why do you want to be agg Commissioner? Mayu?
- 5:35Well, First of all, my family and I are ninth generation farmers.
- 5:40We moved to what was then the Colony of Virginia in the seventeen hundreds
- 5:45and ever since we have been farmers. Our nine hundred acre cattle farm is
- 5:48right here in the Canall Valley. We have one hundred and twenty long horned
- 5:51cows. We grow corn, soy, and wheat. It's also an event
- 5:56venue called the Historic Woodlawn Estate. We had seven thousand visitors from West Virginia
- 6:00to our event venue last year, so we're heavily involved in agritourism. I
- 6:03think that my legislative experience when it comes to education, economic development, and
- 6:09infrastructure is exactly what we need in the Department of Agriculture right now. And
- 6:14my family's history of agriculture and working on our farm here locally, I think
- 6:18will really really help the department. Here's a dumb question that I'm best at,
- 6:24asking what exactly does the Agriculture Commissioner do in West Virginia. Sure well,
- 6:29quite a number of different things. The Department of Agriculture regulates not only
- 6:32the farms, but also inspections and does health related things for agriculture and grocery
- 6:39stores in the state, works with all of the soil conservation districts in the
- 6:44state. We live in the Capital Conservation District here in Kannawk County, and
- 6:48those are all still elected positions. In most other states, I think a
- 6:53little over half now these are appointed positions the Secretary of the Department of Agriculture,
- 6:58But in West Virginia it has been an elected position since eighteen sixty three,
- 7:02since our founding, and we're producing less agricultural product now than at any
- 7:08other point in our history. And I know, with the mountains and our
- 7:12geography, it's hard to make ourselves an agricultural icon, but I think that
- 7:15if it's done efficiently, especially if we become a distribution hub for food on
- 7:21the East Coast, we can be the bread basket of this region. I
- 7:26fundamentally believe that. Now, Kent Leonhardt is the current agg commissioner's been on
- 7:30the show many many times. You know, you know, can't very well.
- 7:32There's another candidate. I'm running Roy Raimie on the Republican side. Mister
- 7:38Leonhard has been the ad commissioner for two terms. What makes you think you
- 7:42could do a better job? And I don't. I'm not asking to throw
- 7:44him nto the bus or anything, but what makes you think that? I
- 7:46know you mentioned your legislative experience and maybe your business experience, but overall,
- 7:51well, what makes you the better candidate of the other two? I'll put
- 7:54it that way. Sure, So, first of all, I appreciate the
- 7:57service that both candidates have given to their state, country, and I have
- 8:01tremendous respect for both of them. I like both of them personally. I
- 8:07would even go so far to say that Kent and I have worked together on
- 8:11numerous things when I was in the legislature. I have no personal issue with
- 8:15either of them. This is purely a policy disagreement. The focus should not
- 8:18be on crowning the queens of fairs, festivals, and beauty pageants, and
- 8:24that seems like the ceremonial duty of the Commission of Agriculture in recent years.
- 8:28The focus should be on economic development. You want to know why young people
- 8:33don't want to become farmers in West Virginia. It's because they don't want to
- 8:37live in a rural area. Why do they not want to live in a
- 8:39rural area Because the roads are not good, because water and sewer lines are
- 8:43not available for them, because there's no broadband internet for a lot of rural
- 8:48communities. If you fix the infrastructure and actually focus on economic development and rural
- 8:54development, people will want to go to those rural communities Again. Young people
- 8:58will want to stay there become farmers. That's why nobody wants a lot of
- 9:03young people don't want to go into agriculture nowadays. Have you been out on
- 9:05campaign trail you started yet? I have. Yeah, the last six months,
- 9:09I've actually been to all fifty five county courthouses. I've met with hundreds
- 9:13of local municipal and county state officials. I didn't actually decide to run for
- 9:20Agriculture Commissioner until a few weeks ago. I was watching Fox News and I
- 9:26saw a story where China is coming into this country and actually buying thousands upon
- 9:31thousands of acres of family farmland, and it's a national security threat. They're
- 9:35buying farmland that could be used for manufacturing. They're buying land near military bases,
- 9:43near major cities, and we're not doing a whole lot of the state
- 9:46to stop companies affiliated with China from taking our family on farmland. Once you're
- 9:52out on the campaign trail, and you said you've already been out there even
- 9:54before you announced that you'd be running. I know you've done several things in
- 10:00your life in edition to being a legislator, You've done several other things in
- 10:03a world of business. Sometimes though in you're a political guy, you've worked
- 10:05on campaigns as well. You know it can be difficult because you know,
- 10:09mister Leon Harden has that name, recognition of having run two statewide races,
- 10:13and that can be difficult to overcome. How do you overcome that? Sure,
- 10:18it's about hard work. I fundamentally believe that. You know, the
- 10:22last couple elections he's won because of geography and because he was the incumbent,
- 10:28So I do have a geographic advantage. We're going to have more money as
- 10:33well. We're raising money, We're going out and being efficient with how we
- 10:39spend it, actually reaching voters one on one. That's how I won my
- 10:43first race back in twenty sixteen. Nobody thought I was going to win.
- 10:46I had fifteen hundred bucks and I went out and personally knocked on about five
- 10:52thousand doors in my House of Delegates district right here in the valley, and
- 10:56we won, beating the incumbent by twenty five votes. The difference now is
- 11:01geography, it's money, and I think that I have a record to run
- 11:07on. And frankly, the two candidates are just going to split split a
- 11:13lot of Republican primary voters. Is there a Democratic persons on there is not?
- 11:16Okay, so no Democrats? So and the finally period's over, So
- 11:20this will be it right here. The next Agriculture Commission will be decided in
- 11:24the primary. It will May fourteen. You mentioned about your family and your
- 11:26background and farming, but otherwise you as just you as an individual, give
- 11:31us the bio on Johns Shack and bobam So. I work for Delta Defense,
- 11:35which is the service provider to the US Concealed Carry Association, the USCCA.
- 11:41I'm a certified Firearms instructor with us CCA. I've been a member for
- 11:43about six years now. I go out and recruit and do all the business
- 11:48development for the us CCA in this state. I've helped to recruit hundreds of
- 11:54church security teams, gun ranges, gun stores, independent instructors, and then
- 12:00and of course I do some government affairs work. We've got some bills we're
- 12:01working on in the legislature right now. But I teach hunter safety classes,
- 12:07I teach concealed carry classes, I do mass shooter preparedness courses, and obviously
- 12:13Second Amendment issues are important to rural communities in West Virginia. Hunting rights just
- 12:20regular gun owners, people trying to defend their property from those who want to
- 12:22do harm to them and their families. That's why I work with the USCCA
- 12:28on a daily basis. So that's my BIO. I live in Charleston.
- 12:33I live in Kanaw County, very active in the community. I'm an elder
- 12:37at my church just down the street. From the studio here. I'm a
- 12:41committee member at my local volunteer fire department, serve on several boards of directors,
- 12:46including Prestera Health Centers, which is the state's largest mental health and recovery
- 12:50provider. And I put my record up with just about anybody. I believe
- 12:58that I can do the job. Would you be well want to have a
- 13:01debate with the other two candidates if it happens. I'm definitely open to it.
- 13:05No one's approached me about it. May or may not happen, but
- 13:09you'd be willing to do it? Yeah, Yeah, I'd be willing to
- 13:11do it. Hey, I there's social media website anything up and running.
- 13:13Yeah, Folks can absolutely find me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn.
- 13:20Just type in Joshua Higginbotham. You'll find all my social media very available
- 13:24and you can send me a text. I'm available to the entire state through
- 13:30text. I'm very accessible. Give me thirty seconds. Why should peop vote
- 13:35for josh Acobodna for agg Commissioner? Fewer young people are going into agriculture in
- 13:39this state. Very few people want to live in rural communities anymore because of
- 13:45the poor infrastructure that West Virginia faces. If we want to reform the Department
- 13:50of Agriculture, we need a young person in there who is qualified and will
- 13:54encourage other young mountaineers to get into the field and work. Literally vote Joshua
- 13:58Higgin them Agriculture Commissioner, May fourteen. All right, well, josh we
- 14:03wish you the best of luck in the campaign. Man. Thanks a lot.

- 16:59according to legislatures, is a personal freedom bill and consumers should be educated on
- 17:03the risks involved in its consumption. Which that logic was applied to cannabis legalization.
- 17:07At least, cannabis consumption won't potentially kill a person like raw milk consumption
- 17:11potentially can. Also, cannabis legalization would be a good source of supplemental revenue,
- 17:17unlike raw milk, says a Texter textas this one actually was for mister
- 17:23higginbotham, I will he's I promise you he's listening right now. So Josh,
- 17:29if you're listening, if you want to text me back a answer to
- 17:32this, I will get it on the show a little bit later. But
- 17:34the texta said, since cannabis legislation would fall under the Agricultural Department, does
- 17:38Josh support its legalization? So all right, Higginbotham, I know you're probably
- 17:42listening. If not, I will get him after the show and I'll get
- 17:45an answer tomorrow, Texas. Higginbotham's record is exactly we will get him beat.
- 17:51Additionally, he can't even win his home county A Putnam zero chance,
- 17:55says a texture. Sounds to me, says a textual, like Joshu Warriston
- 17:59is starting a new branch of the military than he is about saving farms,
- 18:02says a texture. Okay, So they are two of the most iconic names
- 18:07in food in West Virginia, mister Bee Potato Chips and Tutors Biscuit World.
- 18:11They are combining force for a good cause to help out the Make a Wish
- 18:15Foundation. Joe Beth Smith is from Make a Wish and Liz Appling is with
- 18:18Tutors, and they both join me now. So Joe Beth, good morning,
- 18:22Welcome to the show. Good morning, thanks for having us, and
- 18:25also Liz, welcome to the show to you as well. Yeah, thank
- 18:27you. Now you guys feel free to jump in here at any time.
- 18:30So you take mister Bees and you take Tutors. It does not get more
- 18:34West Virginia than that. And now the two have teamed up to make these
- 18:38biscuit and gravy potato chips, a little Tutors, a little mister Bees,
- 18:45with proceeds benefiting Make a Wish. Now, these ships are available on several
- 18:48locations, which I'll get to a little bit later on. But for Tutors,
- 18:52why get involved in this? Well, first and foremost, mister Bee
- 18:55came to us with the opportunity and was like, hey, we want to
- 18:57make this, you know, biscuit and gravy, but Tato Chip, who
- 19:00has better biscuits and gravy than Tutors Biscuit World, and they wanted to have
- 19:04the proceeds go to a charity. And so we have a long lasting partnership
- 19:07with Make a Wish. We actually just finished celebrating twenty five years last year
- 19:11partnership. So it made perfect sense for us to get involved with these iconic
- 19:15brands. And you know, carry on that Appalachian culture and just give back
- 19:18to those who are here native in West Virginia. Joe Beth, I'll go
- 19:22to you absolutely. As long as West Virginia, as Make a Wish has
- 19:26been in West Virginia, Tutors has been one of our biggest sponsors. So
- 19:30as Liz said, we've we've recently celebrated twenty five years with this chapter,
- 19:36and even before that when we were our own chapter, Tutors was a huge
- 19:40supporter. So West Virginia communities, businesses celebrating and helping out West Virginia children
- 19:48is a win win situation for all of them. And I think we're all
- 19:52familiar with the work of Make a Wish, but give us just kind of
- 19:53give us the mission statement in case for somebody that's not sure. We create
- 19:56life changing wishes for children who have been who have been diagnosed with a critical
- 20:03illness. So we work together with communities to make that wish happen for kids.
- 20:10And uh we are are thrilled to have the support of these companies to
- 20:15help us out. Nine twenty seven, The Dave Alan Show on five Agay

- 20:42might be able to get someone to maybe come bring us one or something there,
- 20:45but they're any other You left them with this bunch of jackals in there.
- 20:48I know we brought plenty of bags, though I think there should definitely
- 20:52be a few bags left. I mean, I saw Steve Animal from the
- 20:56Mountain is roaming around the studio. He never comes downstairs. All he stays
- 21:00in his hole upstairs, and and and he comes downstairs via food down here
- 21:04or something, you know. But hopefully they'll be a little bit left force.
- 21:08All right, So these are available all over and I'm gonna got to
- 21:11hit the sponsors first. You can get them at par of our stores.
- 21:15Also, uh, that's our studio sponsor. Also uh, Bigley Wiggly stores.
- 21:19They're available there, including big Ley Piggy Wiggily, I would presume who's
- 21:23our phone line sponsor. But also you can get him at Walmart, at
- 21:27Kroger and at Gomart. That is that the that's that's where they're available.
- 21:32Yep, all throughout the Mountain state. All right, So so again and
- 21:34again the proceeds for that will will benefit Make a Wish. And so how's
- 21:38it been? So when would we actually start the campaign? When did it
- 21:41go? When it started? He started? Uh, when they've been out
- 21:45on the Yeah, we started that in December. They've been out on the
- 21:48shelves probably two or three weeks now, pretty much statewide. So we're just
- 21:55getting it kicked off now. So it should be available in your local stores,
- 22:00so all throughout the state. So we want to be sure and get
- 22:04out and get those while you can. I went and looked for the ones
- 22:07to bring today and had to hit two different stores. So what they're going
- 22:12fast? I want to get in. I'd like to and maybe maybe Liz
- 22:18you can explain this to us. I want to give them the science of
- 22:19this Okay, So how do you make the chips taste so much like the
- 22:26real thing? Again, I haven't had them yet. I'm hoping there'll still
- 22:27be some out there get them to taste like the biscuits and gravy too.
- 22:32How exactly does that work? Well, full disclosure, they're delicious. Okay,
- 22:36I am biased, but I really genuine opinion, I think they're very
- 22:40good. Personally, I like them. I just want to that's a secret
- 22:45something to do with some spice blending and some things like that. But they
- 22:51did a really great job in bringing out that biscuit and gravy flavor. You
- 22:53really get that sausage flavor in the chip in my opinion, which sounds very
- 22:57interesting, but I really go try it. It just it's hard to describe,
- 23:02but it tastes so yummy. Yeah, and they've been doing, I
- 23:03know, different types of chips. You know, there's like a pepperoni role
- 23:07and there's some some different things. But this is a little bit different because
- 23:11again, it's it's a unique idea. Nothing says West Virginia, as I
- 23:15said, like mister Be's and tutors. But it's not just about that because
- 23:18it's it just goes to show that commitment that these companies like this have to
- 23:25helping out West Virginia. Oh absolutely. Mister B has often prided itself on,
- 23:29you know, giving back to the communities, as has Tutors. You
- 23:33know, both of our brands believe that it's important to support the people who
- 23:36support us, and so that's that's our goal. Mister B always wants to
- 23:41the phrases tantalize the taste buds of its customers and some unique flavors and things
- 23:45that you might not necessarily see on the shelves from other brands. And I
- 23:48think they're very successful in doing it. And you know, Tutors was just
- 23:52so happy and proud to get to be a part of it and really get
- 23:55to you know, carry that app lotch and name on and when it comes
- 23:57to Tutors, and again, I mean, this is a brand that was
- 24:00born here in West Virginia and it's expanded to other locations. One of the
- 24:04things that I hear from a lot of my friends that have moved on to
- 24:07other locations, you know, they move out to Texas or you know,
- 24:11Illinois or whatever, and they're like, gosh, I miss Tutors, I
- 24:15miss it. I miss it. Yeah, you have no idea. Social
- 24:19media is something our marketing office, of course, monitors very closely. And
- 24:23there are so many comments that come in of bringing tutors here. We wish,
- 24:26we wish we saw tutors, we moved away, or you know,
- 24:30we're driving through and we had to stop at Tutors to get our tutors fixed.
- 24:33So it's one of those things if you've tried us once, you'll never
- 24:36forget us. I think that's pretty true in saying that, and it just
- 24:38it feels like home, right. Tutors is just like coming home. And
- 24:42the same with mister B Chips. I think it's a little bit of a
- 24:45comfort food too. And we all have in our own hometowns. We have
- 24:48those those iconic places and the iconic tastes. But when you talk about West
- 24:52Virginia, I mean you talk about Tutor, talk about mister B. I'll
- 24:56go and throw in a little plug for Heiner's Bread. You know, it's
- 24:57all one of those things that people seem seemed to love here in West Virginia.
- 25:02Talk about your time with Make a Wish and talk about some of your
- 25:07your favorite moments with Make a Wish. Okay, we I'm starting uh.
- 25:11Well, well into my thirteenth year with Make a Wish uh West Virginia and
- 25:15started in a wish department, so started out working on planning the wishes and
- 25:21then after a couple of years, moved over to development and promotion. So
- 25:26gosh, it's so hard. I think that one of my favorite things,
- 25:30rather than being too not being too specific, is in very general to most
- 25:37all of our families, if not all of our families, is we always
- 25:41include everyone in the family, So not only the wish kid, but their
- 25:45parents and their siblings, and you know, so often their siblings have had
- 25:49to stay home and been away from mom or dad while while they had to
- 25:53stay in the hospital, and it really takes a toll on the entire family.
- 25:59So we we include everyone in a wish so they all get to go
- 26:04together, they all if it's a trip, they all get to spend some
- 26:08time outside of their medical world and enjoy it. So seeing the siblings and
- 26:15the parents being able to relax and enjoy a time with their wish kid during
- 26:22what is probably one of the hardest times of their lives is the most enjoyable
- 26:26for me. And I don't think sometimes people realize Joe beeth that when you
- 26:33have a situation like this, like a medical you mentioned the wish kid is
- 26:37the terminology that you use. It involves the whole family. And sometimes we
- 26:41think about, you know, the mom and dad, but it also affects
- 26:45the little brothers, little sisters, bigger brothers, sisters, the cousins.
- 26:48I mean this and make a wish is so good as you said about including
- 26:52and helping out the whole family. And this because the patient is obviously you
- 26:56know, front and center, but nobody lives in a vacuum there. It
- 27:00affects everybody as well. Talk about that absolutely they you know, they're scared.
- 27:04They're all scared and uh to be have to be away from their sibling
- 27:08and there you know, many many of our children have go out of state
- 27:14for treatment, uh if they have specialized if they need specialized care. So
- 27:18you know, there may be weeks or months that they don't see their sibling
- 27:22or or one of their parents. So and it's a scary time. So
- 27:26uh, we we pride ourselves in being able to give not only the wish
- 27:32kid the strength to get through it, but his entire family and his their
- 27:37classmates and their church members and and everyone who's touched by this child, uh
- 27:44is also touched by the wish So that's something that's very important to us.
- 27:48We when we when we meet a child a Wish child, they get a
- 27:52box of goodies from us, but it also includes toys for their siblings,
- 27:56t shirts for everybody and the family, So we do all we can to
- 28:00include everyone in the whole Wish process. Any way, that you've been able
- 28:06to track sales so far, but how these things are doing? I mean
- 28:08you said you had to go to two different stores to be able to get
- 28:11them this morning. So yeah, we send any numbers yet? Or are
- 28:14we are? We? Are we deeming this a big success? I guess
- 28:18is what I'm trying to say. I think so far it definitely seems like
- 28:21a success. It's a little early to know what numbers really we have,
- 28:25but like Joe was saying, they're already gone at some stores. I know,
- 28:29I had tried a Kroger last night to try to find a few and
- 28:30it was completely gone. So it seems like people are really enjoying it.
- 28:34Social media has really taken off with it. People have been excited to see
- 28:37it and to try it, and overall all the reviews have been really positive
- 28:41and good. They like the flavor, they like the taste, so yeah,
- 28:45it's to me it seems like a success. But of course we have
- 28:48to wait and see. But so far, yeah, I think it's here
- 28:52to say that, and I'm thinking where else I'm getting into the Tutor's kitchen
- 28:56right now. I'm thinking where else could we go from here? Because okay,
- 28:59we got the biscuits and gravy. One of the things that people one
- 29:02of my favorite things at Tutors that people don't often think about is the hot
- 29:06dogs. Tutor actually, Tutors has actually very good hot dogs hot dog and
- 29:10most people, a lot of people anyway, if they have a hot dog,
- 29:12they either want fries or they want a bag of chips with it.
- 29:15I'm thinking we take the Tutors chili and we make chips out of it.
- 29:21Yes, yes, see what a bad idea, mister b We got a
- 29:23new idea. We'll be coming to you with the hot dog, the hot
- 29:27dog chili or if you're north of Charleston you have to call it sauce.
- 29:30I guess I don't know. The people are crazy, but yeah, do
- 29:34you put okay? All right? Chilian girl too and everything. Girl,
- 29:40I don't know about relish, but yeah, well it depends on the Yeah.
- 29:44So so if that happens, you know, you got to name it
- 29:47after me, call it, call it the Day. I mean, you
- 29:51got the Ron, you got the mister b or I'm sorry, the mary
- 29:53Bee. And you have a favorite biscuit, tutors, I'm a mary Bee
- 29:57girl. I love marry be go wrong with it. It's classic. It's
- 30:00got your crunch, it's got the softness, it's got the melted all of
- 30:03it. It's just so good. What about you. Oh, I just
- 30:07love a butter biscuit. Yeah, just biscuit with butter. That's that's nothing
- 30:11wrong with that. My favorite. And it's not on the menu, but
- 30:14I found that they will because it was at one time, but they will
- 30:17still make it for you. Is the Rocket, Ah, yes it is.
- 30:19It's actually still on our menu. It's it's yeah, the one,
- 30:22the one I freaking and taste Valley. It's not on the menu board photograph,
- 30:26but but I ask for it, and sometimes it takes a little longer
- 30:29to make it. It does. But the Rocket, it's the steak.
- 30:32It's a steak. It's like a it's like a breaded steak kind of biscuits.
- 30:34When I first started working at Tutors, I of course wanted to familiarize
- 30:38myself with our menu. You know, if I'm going to marketing, I
- 30:41want to know what I'm marketing. And of course all of our products are
- 30:45wonderful, but the Rocket was one of those biscuits I tried first, and
- 30:48I was like, this is actually pretty good. Every now and then I'll
- 30:49divert from my marry B, but I stay true, all right. So
- 30:56again these biscuits and gravy chips, with proceeds benefiting to make Wish Foundation.
- 31:00It's a partnership with mister B and with Tutors, and they are available at
- 31:03par Our stores. They're also available at Walmart, Kroger, most Piggy Wiggly
- 31:08locations and Go Mart as well. So frequent one of those stores or frequent
- 31:12all of them, and you'll be helping out make a Wish. Guys,
- 31:15I appreciate both of you for being here today. Thanks a lot. Yeah,
- 31:18thank you so much for us. Now, I wonder if there's any
- 31:18food left back there for me. We might have to fight them off for
- 31:22it left. And remember I get credit for that for the day, write
- 31:29it down. All right? All right, guys, thanks a lot,
- 31:30go out there and get those chips. So Dave Allen Show on five eighty

- 31:59text for you. Okay, So I said, do you still make the
- 32:00mister T. No, but mister T, I don't remember that. Mister
- 32:05T was a little before my time. I think it was also some form
- 32:08of steak sandwich. I would to say it was like steak them. I
- 32:12could be really wrong about that, but it was. It was a biscuit
- 32:15that existed, Like I said, far before my time. We do still
- 32:19have a few fans out there who love the mister T. Like I said,
- 32:23we get social posts that there's like always one person or two people that
- 32:27are like the mister t back. Apparently it was a fan favorite amongst them.

- 36:19show devoted to mister Bees. Mister Bees, potato chips and Tutors. Based
- 36:24on the text that I have gotten today, let me knock out a couple
- 36:30of those texts. Texas Dave, Tutor's gravy is spot on, but their
- 36:34biscuits are too much fluff, and I do enough stuff needs more salt and
- 36:37pepper in the batter. I've often asked for their sausage gravy on side and
- 36:40put it on homemade biscuits. All right, So Liz, if you're listening,
- 36:44there's your criticism. Not criticism, just a constructive criticism. Texas Dave,
- 36:50next trip to Tutors, you've got to try the thundering herd on toast
- 36:52and add mayon. AI's life changing, says a texture. H Tex says
- 37:00roast beef and melted cheddar. What happened to the cream chicken over biscuit?
- 37:07Says a texture? All right again, we're gonna have schedule them back.
- 37:10I can see that. I can see that all ready. How come Tutors
- 37:15in sultstera burrinas by calling them raps, says tex I don't know, and
- 37:20I know Tutors. It's called Bisco World. But I'm a pretty big fan
- 37:22of the raps too. I'll be honest with you, I like him a

- 38:04fifteen minutes or so ago with some of the action again, if you want
- 38:08to take a look at the entire schedule, it's posted on my social media.
- 38:12It's also listening to Parmer social media pages as well. The first game
- 38:15was a boys game with Wart County of Magnolia, and then there is a
- 38:20boys contest with Point Pleasant taking on Grafton. Then a boys game with Scott

- 38:27game of Huntington takeing on Parkersburg South, followed by some girls action a little
- 38:32bit later. On today, my alma mater, the Logan Wildcats will take

- 38:47that I mentioned, the Logan in South Charleston game and Poke and Philip Barber,
- 38:52both of those will be broadcast live tonight on WCCHS radio as well.
- 38:59So about an hour ago there was a public meeting scheduled at the Capitol to
- 39:04discuss HB fifty two forty three, or the Women's Bill of Rights. Brad
- 39:08and Hoppy. We'll get into that a little bit more next hour now.
- 39:12Among other things, it would prevent the term non binary from being used as
- 39:20a category on birth certificates. It would place stronger definitions in state code on
- 39:27terms such as women, girl, and mother. The bill states plainly that
- 39:34a person's biological sex is set at birth and does not include gender identity.
- 39:42Or other terms viewed in some eyes as subjective. Any reference to gender in
- 39:47state code would be changed to sex under the new definitions. Now. It
- 39:52goes on to prohibit what the bill refers to as unfair treatment of female and
- 40:00males in certain situations, including providing separate living facilities, locker rooms, bathrooms,
- 40:07domestic violent shelters, et cetera, et cetera. The bill also states
- 40:12that equal does not mean same now as you imagine. Again, the public
- 40:17hearing was scheduled for eight thirty this morning. I did. I have not
- 40:21followed up on that to see how that went, to see if it indeed
- 40:23took place. Hoppying Brad will have more in that coming up at ten oh
- 40:27six this morning, I'm sure as you can imagine, though, State Democratic
- 40:31Party Democrats individually, the ACLU and other groups greatly speaking out against. So
- 40:39don't know how many we're going to speak at the public hearing, but I
- 40:43do know that on there I was actually reading some stuff from the ACLU earlier
- 40:45this morning. They were really upset about this. Fairness was for Gidi beat
- 40:50another one that was upset about that. Meeting again will set for eight thirty
- 40:53this morning the Capitol and Brad and Hope have more in that coming up at
- 40:58ten six. Going back to Josh Hegenbotham, let's see tex says Okay,
- 41:09I'm not reading that part. Text says Josh Heagenbotam is making a pattern of
- 41:13spending bucks on political races only to come up as a loser. He'll lose
- 41:17this race just like he did when he ran for Senate. Our citizens don't
- 41:22line up with his lifestyle choices, and those things matter whether he thinks they

- 46:16listeners requests the Dave Allmen interview with Kent Carper. Again, it was the
- 46:22weirdest, most fascinating appearance on this program ever. It was that. It
- 46:28was that, I'll say that, Tex says, Dear Dave, I've heard
- 46:30famous singers eat potato chips when recording album vocals. True story. If that's
- 46:36the case, there's your excuse for eating chips in your studio where the try
- 46:39could only help. Says, Well, the bad thing about eating potato chips
- 46:44in the studio is is number one, the engineers kind of frown upon that
- 46:46sort of thing. That's number one, and number two they get stuck in
- 46:50your throat, you know. And this time of day, I'm still slamming
- 46:52coffee, you know. I mean, even though I've been up, you
- 46:54know for five hours now, I'm still I'm still slamming coffee. So but
- 46:58the potato chips are good biscuits and gravy chips. No, lie, they're
- 47:00actually they're actually pretty good. And they tell me that there are biscuits left
- 47:05in the green room. Anthony. I don't know how they survived you and
- 47:07Chris Lawrence, but apparently they are. There are still some, so maybe
- 47:10I'll go down the hall and grab I'm gonna get off the air phone calls

- 47:44than ever to transfer your prescription services to them. Fruth is your hometown pharmacy
- 47:46and has been for seventy one years. All right. So I had Josh
- 47:52Accobotham on the show earlier. I had a texture that said something to the
- 47:57effect of, okay, I can't find the text right now. Basically,
- 48:01they were asking mister Higginbotham, who's running for Agriculture Commissioner, his position on
- 48:06cannabis. So Josh had already left, but I know he was listening to
- 48:10the show, and I asked him to if he would to please text back
- 48:13in an answer, and this was his response. I support the right of
- 48:16patients to use cannabis for medical purposes if it's grown in West Virginia by West
- 48:22Virginians. I also do not believe that a legally consenting adult should go to
- 48:27jail for simply possessing marijuana. That is what's Josh Higginbotham, former delegate and
- 48:34candidate now for West Virginia Agriculture Commissioner, said during his text this morning.
- 48:42Let me see text says Higginbotham is as much a farmer as Dave Allen as
- 48:47a parent. That's okay. I don't know about that analogy, but no,
- 48:53I'm not I'm not a parent. Brad and I talked a little yesterday
- 48:58about the auctioning of the Green Briar Sporting Club that's being done to satisfy a
- 49:01portion of the three hundred million dollar debt governed Justice and his family businesses have
- 49:07with with Carter Bank. The governor lashing out about it yesterday, saying during
- 49:14his statement, I don't believe there will be one ounce of anything sold,
- 49:20period in quote. And you know, he really can't get into a whole
- 49:24lot of details from what I understand, so he can't really say a whole
- 49:30lot more than that. But he did say that he does not believe that
- 49:36anything is going to be sold. And reports are that members of the greenbriersh
- 49:45Sporting Club were getting correspondence from attorneys for Justice referring to their words a so
- 49:52called notice of sale. The communication went on to say, again quoting,
- 49:58the notice of sale is invalid. The governor somewhat alluding to the politics of
- 50:05the whole thing in his statement. As I said, now, one of
- 50:07his opponents, Congressman Alex Mooney, is saying that these matters are the public's
- 50:15business, which you know, I don't always agree with Alex Mooney on a
- 50:20whole heck of a lot. But I do on this because he is the
- 50:22governor, and say to West Virginia, and when you're the governor, these
- 50:24things are going to be out there, especially when you said you're going to
- 50:28put all this in a blind trust. So where are we now on this?
- 50:32Well, as I said, the members of the Sporting Club, there
- 50:37have been sent letters saying that there could be said. They call it a
- 50:40so called sale or something of that effect, as I said earlier. And
- 50:44the way this club works, it is a private club that offers memberships to
- 50:49people who buy real estate surrounding the Greenbrier. You know, the whole thing
- 50:54is really a big mess. But as I referenced yesterday on the show,
- 51:01maybe his day before that, the article that was in the Wall Street Journal
- 51:06about the governor and his finances last week. I mean, this was front
- 51:08page of the leading business publication and one of the leading newspaper publications in the
- 51:15world, the Wall Street Journal front page about the He was kind of compared
- 51:20and contrast the popularity of Governor Justice, who's now running for Senate, and
- 51:23all of his financial issues, and it brought up all these things. But
- 51:29as I've said about this. The bottom line is is that no one really
- 51:35cares about this in West Virginia. They knew of the governor's financial issues when
- 51:42he was running for office, and when he was elected in twenty sixteen.
- 51:45I mean, his opponents made issue of this and people still voted for him.
- 51:52And this has continued to pile on. It's piled on, it's piled
- 51:54on and again. Several months ago he had he was like the fourth,
- 52:00their fifth most popular governor in America. He's going to go down as one
- 52:01of West Virginia's most popular governors ever, much to the chagrin of a lot
- 52:07of people, sometimes within his own party. People know these things about Jim
- 52:12Justice, and they don't care. They simply simply do not care. All
