- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. Yeah down the Middle too, blatch y'all. I
- 0:18Speaker 1: think my greatest ash would be on the football field
- 0:21Speaker 1: is my leadership. There's eleven people on the field at
- 0:25Speaker 1: one time, and one of my strengths is leading and
- 0:27Speaker 1: make sure that we're all working unified as one unity.
- 0:30Speaker 1: This guy is good, I'll tell you he's kind a
- 0:32Speaker 1: nice arm Off Frice On, University of Alabama quarterback. I
- 0:37Speaker 1: think my style of play is boys processing quickly and
- 0:42Speaker 1: and you know, trying to make the most efficient plays,
- 0:45Speaker 1: whether it's handing the ball off or making reads in
- 0:47Speaker 1: the past games at a touchdown. My father's helped me
- 0:53Speaker 1: a lot a lot of aspects of my life. He's
- 0:56Speaker 1: a psychologist as a therapists. He's definitely taught me to
- 0:59Speaker 1: make sure that I'm staying calm, I'm controlling what I
- 1:01Speaker 1: can control, and to be able to take that sort
- 1:04Speaker 1: of approach not just a sports SUPs of life. It
- 1:06Speaker 1: is something that I probably myself in and I'm happy
- 1:09Speaker 1: that I was exposed to at a young age. Hang
- 1:12Speaker 1: On wan age strike for me when an Eisen was
- 1:16Speaker 1: definitely a surreal moment. You know, I think subconsciously is
- 1:19Speaker 1: something that every kid who plays football kind of James
- 1:21Speaker 1: about but wasn't done with the season at the time,
- 1:24Speaker 1: and I knew that there's a lot more than I
- 1:25Speaker 1: want to accomplish, and there still is a lot more
- 1:27Speaker 1: than I want to accomplished, And you know, that kind
- 1:29Speaker 1: of carries over. It was great at something I always remember,
- 1:31Speaker 1: but you know, I think I'll be able to appreciate
- 1:34Speaker 1: a lot more down the line. Hot off the presses,
- 1:38Speaker 1: Lanzerline's second mock draft, which includes trades and Lance, has
- 1:44Speaker 1: the Raiders as well as the Cardinals and the Multimore
- 1:48Speaker 1: Ravens trading into the top ten. The Ravens to take
- 1:51Speaker 1: quarterback Will Levis and the Raiders getting c J. Strout,
- 1:55Speaker 1: But his number two pick is Bryce Young going to
- 1:58Speaker 1: the Houston Texans l the Bear staying and taking Will
- 2:01Speaker 1: Anderson number one overall, Jim Trotter joining us now here
- 2:04Speaker 1: on NFL. Now, let's talk about who Lance has going
- 2:08Speaker 1: number two, and that is Bryce Young. He measured in
- 2:10Speaker 1: at the combine, so much attention being paid to what
- 2:12Speaker 1: shoes he was wearing, how did he look standing next
- 2:15Speaker 1: to other people, how much the size impact the way
- 2:18Speaker 1: these talent evaluators feel about the Alabama quarterback. Jill. Look, Patrick,
- 2:22Speaker 1: you can never paint with a broad brush here, but
- 2:24Speaker 1: all of the personnel people and coaches I've talked to
- 2:27Speaker 1: do not place great value in this discussion that he
- 2:30Speaker 1: is not tall enough or heavy enough, or that they
- 2:33Speaker 1: have concerns about it. Obviously there are some, but look,
- 2:36Speaker 1: Josh McDaniels is one of those who told me, you
- 2:39Speaker 1: know what you're concerned about most when you look at
- 2:42Speaker 1: quarterback of his size and stature is the durability issue.
- 2:45Speaker 1: And he said that has not been an issue with
- 2:47Speaker 1: Bryce Young, with the exception of that one instance last
- 2:50Speaker 1: year where he missed a moment. But what he said
- 2:53Speaker 1: is you look at the production and he said, quarterbacks
- 2:56Speaker 1: of that size they throw through windows. And he said,
- 2:59Speaker 1: we see Drew Brees. We've seen Drew Brees do it.
- 3:01Speaker 1: We've seen Kyler Murray do it. We've seen Russell Wilson
- 3:04Speaker 1: do it. And he said, is that Bryce Young has
- 3:06Speaker 1: done that as well. I talked to another team in
- 3:08Speaker 1: the top ten who's interested in a quarterback told me
- 3:11Speaker 1: the same thing. They are not concerned about the size
- 3:14Speaker 1: element that people talk about with Bryce Young, so he
- 3:17Speaker 1: will be I'd be surprised if he's not the first
- 3:20Speaker 1: quarterback taken off of the board from the teams that
- 3:23Speaker 1: I've talked to. But size in this case is not
- 3:25Speaker 1: an issue with these clubs that I've spoken to. Patrick, Yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 1: had that size are when he won the Hyde Trophy.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Looking ahead to the March Pro Day coming up in
- 3:34Speaker 1: Tuscaloosa to get the final check of the boxes for
- 3:37Speaker 1: Bryce Young heading into the twenty twenty three NFL Draft,
- 3:40Speaker 1: Jim Trotter checking out one of the top quarterback prospects.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Here in twenty twenty three, back here on NFL Now
- 3:50Speaker 1: with what is new right now coming into the NFL
- 3:52Speaker 1: Laws Ange, You've NFL Network inside of Tom Pella Sero
- 3:55Speaker 1: joining us to go through some of this news. Tom
- 3:58Speaker 1: in twenty nine year old Donovan Smith is going to
- 4:00Speaker 1: be looking at some options. What can you tell us
- 4:02Speaker 1: about the Bucks tackle? Patrick? The Bucks are releasing their
- 4:07Speaker 1: left tackle Donovan Smith today after trying to shop him
- 4:11Speaker 1: in trade talks over he passed twenty four hours or so.
- 4:14Speaker 1: It was difficult to get a trade done because Smith
- 4:17Speaker 1: had a high non guaranteed base salary around fifteen million
- 4:21Speaker 1: dollars just not a number that other teams could take
- 4:23Speaker 1: on at this point, so instead they opt to release
- 4:26Speaker 1: Donovan Smith, saving about ten million dollars against the cap
- 4:30Speaker 1: and then upwards of fourteen fifteen million dollars in terms
- 4:33Speaker 1: of cash. Now, this is part of a broader effort
- 4:35Speaker 1: here for the Bucks, who of course kept a lot
- 4:37Speaker 1: of veteran players around brought veterans in during the Tom
- 4:40Speaker 1: Brady era. They also planned to release Leonard Fournette when
- 4:43Speaker 1: the new league years begins, and there is additional work
- 4:46Speaker 1: here to make sure that their cap is in the
- 4:48Speaker 1: right spot as we head toward the new league gear
- 4:50Speaker 1: which begins next Wednesday, Patrick and Tom, let's keep it
- 4:53Speaker 1: in the state of Florida. As Byron Jones also seeing
- 4:56Speaker 1: a departure from the Miami Dolphins after three seasons of
- 4:59Speaker 1: which he played too what can you tell us there? Well,
- 5:03Speaker 1: this was expected Patrick Byron Jone did not play all
- 5:06Speaker 1: of last season coming off an achilles injury. Is rehab
- 5:09Speaker 1: did not go exactly as they had anticipated. He was
- 5:12Speaker 1: one of the high profile and highest paid free agent
- 5:15Speaker 1: signings just a few years ago. Here certainly played well
- 5:18Speaker 1: early in his career, but then the injuries short circuited
- 5:21Speaker 1: things as he went into twenty twenty one. Jones also
- 5:24Speaker 1: took to Twitter recently saying that those injuries have left
- 5:28Speaker 1: him unable to run or jump. So remains to be
- 5:32Speaker 1: seen whether or not there's any future for Byron Jones
- 5:34Speaker 1: in the NFL. But we do know that for now
- 5:37Speaker 1: is that this release saves Miami about fourteen million dollars
- 5:40Speaker 1: in cash and nearly that much in cap space yet
- 5:43Speaker 1: another team. We'll see plenty of this Patrick here over
- 5:45Speaker 1: the next week or so. Some of those veterans who
- 5:48Speaker 1: got paid a lot a few years ago get to
- 5:50Speaker 1: the non guaranteed portions of their contracts and the team
- 5:52Speaker 1: moves on. Yeah, and hoping to see Byron Jones able
- 5:56Speaker 1: to get back physically as thinking back to his unofficial
- 5:59Speaker 1: world record at the broad jump that he had back
- 6:02Speaker 1: in the twenty fifteen NFL combin Tom Pellicero with the
- 6:05Speaker 1: latest on a couple of spots in Florida, a couple
- 6:07Speaker 1: of teams making some changes changes at the head coach
- 6:11Speaker 1: in front office positions in the off season and during
- 6:14Speaker 1: the season. For the Arizona Cardinals, looking ahead looking back
- 6:18Speaker 1: what they did last year lasted in the NFC West
- 6:21Speaker 1: projected the sixteen point six million in cap space, and
- 6:24Speaker 1: they have some notable free agents as well as some retirements.
- 6:27Speaker 1: AJ Green and JJ Watt announced their retirements. Robney Hudson
- 6:30Speaker 1: also considering retirement. So let's discuss the twenty twenty three
- 6:34Speaker 1: Arizona Cardinals with Omar Louise paying attention to the team
- 6:38Speaker 1: this offseason. To Norma, we have to start with the
- 6:40Speaker 1: quarterback still making his recovery from a torn a CEO. Yeah,
- 6:43Speaker 1: we see all those graphics and the different moves that
- 6:45Speaker 1: they have. The Arizona Cardinals priority number one is getting
- 6:48Speaker 1: Kyler Murray healthy and he's been in the facility rehabbing,
- 6:52Speaker 1: working out, making sure that heat tries to get back
- 6:54Speaker 1: as quickly as possible. But it seems at this point
- 6:56Speaker 1: that Kyler Murray will miss at least the start of
- 6:59Speaker 1: the season. It got me thinking back to the Cleveland
- 7:02Speaker 1: Browns training camp last year when I visited Brie, Ohio.
- 7:04Speaker 1: They were obviously getting ready to Kobe Brissette to play,
- 7:07Speaker 1: but Deshaun Watson would be waiting in the wings. And
- 7:09Speaker 1: ask Monty austin Ford, their general manager for the Cardinals,
- 7:12Speaker 1: how that might influence Kyler Murray's unavailability at the start
- 7:16Speaker 1: of the season, how they build the roster this season,
- 7:18Speaker 1: it's something that they will consider. They don't know who's
- 7:20Speaker 1: going to be the quarterback yet quote McCoy is still
- 7:23Speaker 1: under contract there, but the fact that they do have
- 7:26Speaker 1: to consider Kyler Murray's unique skill set something that they
- 7:29Speaker 1: look forward to working with when he does come back.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Jonathan Gannon has told Kyler Murray they don't want him
- 7:34Speaker 1: to rush back, given that his legs and that torn
- 7:36Speaker 1: acl is what makes him so valuable a commodity in
- 7:40Speaker 1: the NFL, that it'll be interesting to watch how the
- 7:43Speaker 1: rest of this offseason unfolds given those circumstances with Kyler
- 7:47Speaker 1: Murray and the uncertainty to start the season. Yeah, we
- 7:49Speaker 1: want to see Kyler backhealthy. One note that clearly jumps
- 7:52Speaker 1: out the last highlight. Kyler ran around so long, we
- 7:55Speaker 1: didn't even have enough time to show the entire highlights,
- 7:57Speaker 1: like eighty four yards Olive Brown in real actual yardage.
- 8:00Speaker 1: They had the whole team on his back in that point.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I think it was a Week one win over in
- 8:04Speaker 1: Las Vegas. Also featured in those in those highlights was
- 8:07Speaker 1: a lot of new Copkins one of the best spots
- 8:10Speaker 1: on this roster for a few years after the trade
- 8:12Speaker 1: from the Houston Texans. What's the future with the DeAndre
- 8:15Speaker 1: Hopkins in the cart? Well, I appreciate it Jonathan Gannon's
- 8:17Speaker 1: honesty last week when he was as point blank is
- 8:19Speaker 1: DeAndre Hopkins is going to be on this team in
- 8:21Speaker 1: twenty twenty three? Does a couple of years under contract
- 8:24Speaker 1: for new Hopkins there? And he was honest and said,
- 8:27Speaker 1: I don't know. Obviously, DeAndre Hopkins makes a lot of
- 8:29Speaker 1: money for a team that's at all appearances at this
- 8:32Speaker 1: point at least a little bit of a rebuild money.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Austin Ford saying that he's been in communication with DeAndre
- 8:39Speaker 1: Hopkins and his representative. You know, it appears that he's
- 8:43Speaker 1: on the trade block, but I don't think they're in
- 8:45Speaker 1: position to dump him at this point. I mean, both
- 8:48Speaker 1: Jonathan Gannon and Austin Ford have said that they appreciate
- 8:50Speaker 1: the talent that DeAndre Hopkins is, that they're glad that
- 8:54Speaker 1: he is on their roster at this point. So that'll
- 8:57Speaker 1: be another interesting move here in the next week or
- 8:59Speaker 1: so to see what happens with DeAndre Hopkins. As far
- 9:02Speaker 1: as Hopkins right now, he's been working out in Dallas.
- 9:05Speaker 1: Dez Hopkins playing some pickup hoops, looking like you used
- 9:08Speaker 1: to do their Patrick talking to the Dallas fands on
- 9:12Speaker 1: Instagram Live and saying what's good. So be an interesting
- 9:16Speaker 1: player to watch here in the next couple of weeks.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Perhaps trying a facilitator a relationship there between those communities
- 9:21Speaker 1: is DeAndre Hopkins. So Jonathan Gannon comes over. He just
- 9:24Speaker 1: had a former Cardinal and the son Reddick have a
- 9:27Speaker 1: resurgent season. What's Jonathan Gannon's future outlook for this defense? Yeah,
- 9:32Speaker 1: it's an interesting case. I think he was asked last
- 9:34Speaker 1: week at the Combine if with building a super Bowl
- 9:37Speaker 1: caliber defense with the Eagles and all that talent that's
- 9:39Speaker 1: on that roster, they're going to aim for some of
- 9:41Speaker 1: the free agents there that the Eagles might have, And
- 9:43Speaker 1: he said, yeah, it's helpful to have some familiarity when
- 9:47Speaker 1: you're kind of implementing a defense. But he said that's
- 9:50Speaker 1: not necessarily going to roll out the twenty twenty two
- 9:53Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles defensive playbook for the Cardinals next year. And
- 9:57Speaker 1: he said he likes to think about his defense as
- 9:59Speaker 1: a canvas. They give the players the paints. They give
- 10:02Speaker 1: him the tools to say, as long as you stay
- 10:04Speaker 1: in this canvas, you can have a lot of autonomy
- 10:07Speaker 1: for what this defense could look like. And he said
- 10:09Speaker 1: he took a lot of heat when he went to
- 10:11Speaker 1: the Eagles and said he plays a schematic less defense.
- 10:14Speaker 1: He caters everything to the players what they can do.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Looks to do the same there. Obviously, they have the
- 10:20Speaker 1: number three pick overall in the draft upcoming. We mentioned
- 10:23Speaker 1: the DeAndre Hopkins, you know, potential asset there to build
- 10:26Speaker 1: more capital there in the draft potentially, So given you
- 10:30Speaker 1: know all of that, Gannon's building up that defense something
- 10:36Speaker 1: you know, be interesting to see in the next couple
- 10:38Speaker 1: of months. Now, so many different spots. Of course, DeAndre
- 10:40Speaker 1: Hopkins does have a no trade clause and so anything
- 10:43Speaker 1: that the Cardinals do, we'll have to run through New
- 10:46Speaker 1: Hopkins as well. Perhaps that's why he's working the people
- 10:49Speaker 1: a little bit, getting some interest there in Texas as
- 10:53Speaker 1: he's training this offseason looking ahead to twenty twenty three.
- 10:56Speaker 1: Thanks for Omar Ruiz in his view of the off
- 10:59Speaker 1: season four the twenty twenty three Arizona Cardinals. The oh
- 11:06Speaker 1: they've got Andy Gosper in their player Personnel Department, and
- 11:10Speaker 1: we've got our standing by to join the show as
- 11:13Speaker 1: we talk about Women's History Month. That's next on NFL Network.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Back on the NFL Now and Sunday, Free Agency Frenzy begins.
- 11:25Speaker 1: An NFL Network has you covered with live breaking news
- 11:28Speaker 1: on every transaction league wide, rumors from our insiders, an
- 11:31Speaker 1: expert analysis of every blockbuster deal. Free Agency Frenzy starts
- 11:36Speaker 1: Sunday at one pm on NFL Network. My name is
- 11:47Speaker 1: Andy Gosper. I'm the player personnel coordinator for the Buffalo Bills,
- 11:50Speaker 1: and my role is to oversee college scouting pro scouting
- 11:55Speaker 1: do a lot of the administrative work. I grew up
- 11:58Speaker 1: playing soft on software year round, and then going into college,
- 12:02Speaker 1: I wanted to be an athletic trainer, and then I
- 12:04Speaker 1: ended up change my major two times. But my goal
- 12:07Speaker 1: was always sort in the NFL. That's what I've always
- 12:10Speaker 1: wanted to do. And during one of my softball events,
- 12:12Speaker 1: I was in the outfield and I keep my Apple
- 12:14Speaker 1: Watch on and all of a sudden it's vibrating and
- 12:16Speaker 1: then I'm looking. Now I'm like, oh, Bills are calling me.
- 12:19Speaker 1: It's crazy how that ended off. I like to say,
- 12:22Speaker 1: just I'm the product of the Bills organization. They build
- 12:26Speaker 1: people up. They love bringing in raw talent where they
- 12:29Speaker 1: can mold and create somebody. It doesn't matter a female.
- 12:33Speaker 1: I'm going to do more job well and I'm here
- 12:35Speaker 1: to advance and I'm just here to help the Bills
- 12:38Speaker 1: be the best organization, best football team that they can
- 12:41Speaker 1: possibly be. And now we're celebrating Women's History Month with
- 12:47Speaker 1: Andy Gosper, the player personnel coordinator for the Buffalo Bills.
- 12:50Speaker 1: And a busy time of the year right now, you
- 12:54Speaker 1: just got off the play from Indianapolis, but that's where
- 12:56Speaker 1: you got started with the Bills. Tell us about the
- 12:58Speaker 1: conversation that led to you being a Buffalo Bill. Yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 1: So I had the opportunity to attend the Women's Career
- 13:07Speaker 1: in Football for him in twenty nineteen. I went there,
- 13:11Speaker 1: got to meet so many amazing women, including those of
- 13:15Speaker 1: us who are looking to get into the next level.
- 13:17Speaker 1: And there I was able to meet with Brandon Mean
- 13:21Speaker 1: and are then assistant general manager Joe Shane, who is
- 13:24Speaker 1: now the general manager of the New York Giants, and
- 13:27Speaker 1: we kind of talked about how I could fit in
- 13:30Speaker 1: what areas, what areas I was interested in and we talked,
- 13:34Speaker 1: and I got a call a few months later from
- 13:37Speaker 1: Joe asked me if I wanted to come on with
- 13:39Speaker 1: him in the scouting department. And getting that actual call Andy,
- 13:43Speaker 1: because you had you had the opportunity, there were paths diverging.
- 13:47Speaker 1: You were actually on the field playing softball at the time.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Can you take us through that moment a little bit. Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 1: So we were in one of our games and I
- 13:56Speaker 1: played center field, so I was in the outfield and
- 13:59Speaker 1: I always keep my Apple Watch JAW I could like
- 14:01Speaker 1: to track everything, and I looked down. I felt it
- 14:04Speaker 1: by where I looked down, and all I said it
- 14:06Speaker 1: was Joe Shade and Buffalo Bills. I got really excited,
- 14:09Speaker 1: so my heart was pumping. So once we got three outs,
- 14:13Speaker 1: ran in called them right back and that's how it happens.
- 14:16Speaker 1: Really crazy, and through the conversations, obviously with the women
- 14:20Speaker 1: in sports form, there's so many different avenues right to
- 14:24Speaker 1: become a part of the NFL. But that process, did
- 14:27Speaker 1: that make you believe that the Bills organization in the
- 14:30Speaker 1: league would be accepting of having a woman climbed through
- 14:34Speaker 1: the ranks, and it obtained whatever goal ultimately that you
- 14:37Speaker 1: want to accomplish, Oh absolutely. You know. There were so
- 14:41Speaker 1: many people there from different from different places, and they
- 14:45Speaker 1: wanted to go into different areas within the team. So
- 14:49Speaker 1: there was people who want to go into scouting who
- 14:51Speaker 1: were originally in recruiting. There are people who want to
- 14:54Speaker 1: go into ops. There were coaches there as well. We
- 14:57Speaker 1: had strength people wanted to get into strength conditioning. There
- 15:00Speaker 1: were so many avenues represented in that one room, and
- 15:03Speaker 1: it was just awesome to see just me everybody, And
- 15:06Speaker 1: for me, it was awesome just to talk to everybody
- 15:08Speaker 1: to figure out what I wanted to do because I
- 15:10Speaker 1: came in not specifically knowing the avenue that I want
- 15:13Speaker 1: to go down, just that I wanted to be in
- 15:15Speaker 1: the NFL. And so now you're in this position where
- 15:18Speaker 1: you're essentially coordinating the off season and all the twists
- 15:20Speaker 1: and turns when it comes to college scouting, all star games.
- 15:24Speaker 1: How do you even go about starting to plan these things?
- 15:28Speaker 1: You just kind of go with it, you know. I
- 15:29Speaker 1: had a great person in front of me, Tyler Pratt,
- 15:31Speaker 1: who is now our Southeast Area scout, So I really
- 15:36Speaker 1: just came in right behind him as an intern, and
- 15:38Speaker 1: he showed me the ropes. He walked me through everything
- 15:40Speaker 1: and we kind of grew together. And so he's just
- 15:44Speaker 1: been a great, a great mentor to me. I still
- 15:45Speaker 1: call him now asking questions what did he do in
- 15:48Speaker 1: this situation? But yeah, he was really the one that
- 15:52Speaker 1: showed me the ropes and showed me how to go well.
- 15:54Speaker 1: And they congratulations, looking forward to now going into season
- 15:58Speaker 1: five and all the twists and turns there and good
- 16:01Speaker 1: luck to you guys. I'm sure we're going through a
- 16:03Speaker 1: busy draft season. We're spending time with us on the
- 16:06Speaker 1: NFL now, Thank you so much, appreciate it. Dug it again.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Wanting to throw to the end zone. Touchdown Max Duggan
- 16:16Speaker 1: on the ground has been the story. I'll get you
- 16:19Speaker 1: put it up. Touchdown, William He's sucking with his legs
- 16:24Speaker 1: solid right, touchdown Duggan, He's just gonna hoist it down
- 16:28Speaker 1: the sideline. Touchdown. He made big plays what he had too,
- 16:31Speaker 1: as he's done throughout the year. Max dugging so must
- 16:36Speaker 1: talking about Anthony Richards's performance at the colmdown. Max Duggan
- 16:39Speaker 1: was no slouch, measuring in at six one and a half,
- 16:43Speaker 1: his hand size nine and seven eighths and he ran
- 16:45Speaker 1: a very respectable, very fast, four or five two forty
- 16:49Speaker 1: among the fifteen quarterbacks that were at the combine. He's
- 16:52Speaker 1: preparing for the NFL Draft in the wake of an
- 16:54Speaker 1: incredible senior season at TCU. He joins coach Steve Mariucci
- 16:58Speaker 1: for a whiteboard breakdown. In this installment, I'll draw my play,
- 17:07Speaker 1: Max Duggan, come on in here, TCU coach, how you doing.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I'm good, Thanks for coming, Yes, sir, thanks for having
- 17:12Speaker 1: me on. All right, you're really sitting that hot seat, sir.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I'm watching the Michigan game, right your score is forty
- 17:17Speaker 1: one thirty eight or some dark thing. And this guy
- 17:20Speaker 1: named Clinton Johnston, he goes flying across air and this
- 17:22Speaker 1: guy seemed to go a little higher, but he was
- 17:24Speaker 1: looking to pick two and that wasn't on your sideline scripts.
- 17:27Speaker 1: And this guy went about seventy yards for a touchdown.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Different formation, different guys, different formation. Yeah, we got zero
- 17:33Speaker 1: on that play. And Q Goes makes a great play.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I think, Tay, he makes a great block trying to
- 17:37Speaker 1: find their guy he's coming off. I think he made
- 17:39Speaker 1: a block from from off man two, so got to
- 17:41Speaker 1: find him. And you know, Q goes and does arrest
- 17:44Speaker 1: you it's third down and seven. Here Michigan blix its tugging,
- 17:49Speaker 1: tups it off short Clinton Johnston, how's the first time
- 17:53Speaker 1: head off? He goes, And you had been the starter,
- 17:56Speaker 1: all right, yes, sir for a while, and then all
- 18:00Speaker 1: of a sudden in that first game, Chandler Morris is
- 18:03Speaker 1: the starting quarterback. Did you ever then doubt yourself because
- 18:08Speaker 1: somebody else took your job? I think going in your
- 18:10Speaker 1: senior year, you want to, you know, do everything you
- 18:12Speaker 1: can to kind of turn the ship, and you know,
- 18:14Speaker 1: you lose that battle, and as a competitor you are
- 18:16Speaker 1: just you know a lot of disappointment myself as as
- 18:18Speaker 1: a player. But no doubt though, what if you didn't
- 18:20Speaker 1: get hurt, I would have been the best backup quarterback
- 18:22Speaker 1: in the country. Then that's a good answer, man. What
- 18:27Speaker 1: does a kid from Council Bluffs, Iowa learn from baling Hay?
- 18:33Speaker 1: You know, just a lot of mental toughness. I think
- 18:34Speaker 1: physical toughness and mental toughness. Physical hand man, Yeah, because
- 18:37Speaker 1: you're out there from you know, eight an to you know,
- 18:40Speaker 1: when when the sun goes down, maybe throwing a thousand
- 18:42Speaker 1: bales forty five fifty pound hay bales all day, you know,
- 18:46Speaker 1: to test you a little bit. It sure does tell
- 18:49Speaker 1: me and tell our viewers exactly what Wolf Parkinson White
- 18:53Speaker 1: syndrome is. Yeah, it's just a hard condition I was
- 18:57Speaker 1: born with since birth, and it meant that I had
- 18:58Speaker 1: an extra electrical pathway in my heart that made my
- 19:01Speaker 1: heart beat um extremely fast. So I got through a
- 19:03Speaker 1: nine hour procedure to fix the heart procedure, and then
- 19:05Speaker 1: two days later I have a blood cloud because of
- 19:07Speaker 1: surgery and going to emergency surgery for that, and I
- 19:09Speaker 1: was able to play on our first game four weeks later.
- 19:12Speaker 1: That came from that toughness. Saron, Hey, I think, huh, well,
- 19:15Speaker 1: any any issues since then? No, Saraya, I feel great.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I had a guy on my team that went through
- 19:19Speaker 1: that as well. So I'm gonna show you a play
- 19:22Speaker 1: round right a right two jet flanker number eighty short
- 19:28Speaker 1: post X shake. Okay, So we want to get the
- 19:34Speaker 1: ball to our guy, like you want to get the
- 19:36Speaker 1: ball to Quentin Johnston. Okay, sir, Like we're going to
- 19:38Speaker 1: try to find this guy. It's crunch time. It's third
- 19:40Speaker 1: and eight, we're in the red zone. We got we
- 19:42Speaker 1: don't want to field goal. We got to shoot it
- 19:43Speaker 1: in the end zone, sir. But let's get the ball
- 19:45Speaker 1: Jerry Rice right here. If you see that guy in
- 19:47Speaker 1: the middle, and you know it's three deep zone, he's
- 19:50Speaker 1: in the scene, isn't he all right? Sir? If this
- 19:52Speaker 1: guy is strong safety and this free safety show you
- 19:55Speaker 1: a tough cover two, he's doing the post inside of
- 19:57Speaker 1: that guy. So it's two jet flank or short post
- 20:01Speaker 1: X shake touchdown, check down right here to write here
- 20:06Speaker 1: you got that, sir. So last year you guys didn't
- 20:10Speaker 1: make a bowl game. You had a losing record to
- 20:12Speaker 1: the National Championship. How does that happen? You know, I
- 20:16Speaker 1: think with a new coaching staff coming in, I think
- 20:18Speaker 1: our guys did a great job just buying in. You know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: we had a lot of guys of you know, veterans
- 20:22Speaker 1: that played a lot of snaps that kind of came
- 20:23Speaker 1: into their own of of being. You know that that
- 20:25Speaker 1: senior leadership that we needed didn't hurt that you came
- 20:27Speaker 1: in and played your butt off right surrounded by some
- 20:30Speaker 1: good players. That makes my job easy. I like that answer.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Have you ever been in trouble? No, sir, just like that.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Never maybe mowing the lawn a little bit wrong. My
- 20:37Speaker 1: Dad might have written me a new one. But what
- 20:41Speaker 1: do you tell these coaches and scouts and general managers
- 20:44Speaker 1: about you? You know, I think that at this level,
- 20:47Speaker 1: everybody's gonna be able to throw, everybody can run, and
- 20:49Speaker 1: everybody's a great athlete. But I think, you know what
- 20:51Speaker 1: I've been able to show in my career and on
- 20:53Speaker 1: tape as I'm gonna keep complete my ass off, whether
- 20:55Speaker 1: it's in reps and practice, in the weight room, in games,
- 20:58Speaker 1: whatever you can to be the best player you can
- 21:00Speaker 1: and make guys around you that are gonna be better.
- 21:02Speaker 1: I want to see you draw my play, sir, You
- 21:05Speaker 1: remember it, sir, show me. Okay, we're gonna be in
- 21:07Speaker 1: brown right any right, two jet flanker, short post X shake,
- 21:16Speaker 1: Our back's gonna be coming out. This is gonna be
- 21:18Speaker 1: a great indicator if we get man or we get zone,
- 21:20Speaker 1: we get a back or going out. So he's just
- 21:21Speaker 1: gonna be on a hitch Okay, on a hitch our
- 21:24Speaker 1: Why is gonna be on our on our shallow? He
- 21:26Speaker 1: can sit. If it's zone, he can keep going. If
- 21:28Speaker 1: it's man, Jerry Rice, here, we get middlefield close, middle
- 21:31Speaker 1: field close, he's gonna take it up the seam, we're
- 21:33Speaker 1: gonna bang it. Middlefield open. That's when he can post
- 21:37Speaker 1: it right here. We're gonna have our post corner, post corner.
- 21:40Speaker 1: We get some sort of hard corner, we get cloud
- 21:42Speaker 1: that's gonna turn into a China China. Huh okay, China.
- 21:46Speaker 1: All right, two jet protection. What if it's full blitz,
- 21:49Speaker 1: full blitz. Jerry Sho's taken up. We're gonna hit right here.
- 21:52Speaker 1: If we get say, middle field close, we're going seam.
- 21:54Speaker 1: We're going one. If we get middle field clothes, we're
- 21:56Speaker 1: gonna go one, two back here to three four. Alright,
- 21:59Speaker 1: touchdown checkdown, seez that's pretty good, man, that's pretty good.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Touchdown checkdown. Hey, fantastic season. All right, keep her going. Okay,
- 22:08Speaker 1: I know you can believe in you man, Max Doug
