- 0:01Hello, everyone. Welcome to Eye Opener Society and welcome to a Thursday night sermon.
- 0:08We are very happy to be here with you and we're happy that we keep the consistency
- 0:14with these Thursday night lives because we keep getting better as time goes on with them.
- 0:21So as always, I'm going to start off and then after I'm done,
- 0:25we'll be joined by Lizzie and Lizzie will give her sermon And then we could
- 0:29wish you all a great night But before I go on with any of that We wanted to
- 0:32make the announcement that we have another new minister Who will be joining
- 0:36us on some future sermons Some future shows You may have already heard her,
- 0:42Halos Phoenix Wanted to give her a big shout out I want everyone to welcome
- 0:47her But she has recently been ordained with Eye Opener Society And we look forward
- 0:53to everything that she has to offer to us And she has some great and wonderful things as well.
- 1:01So I wanted to start off by saying, what's in a name?
- 1:07What's in a definition?
- 1:10We could take so many different words and we could transform them into whatever it is we want.
- 1:16At least here in the United States, we have the freedom of speech.
- 1:20And that includes believing what we believe in when it comes to a word.
- 1:26So when we take the word church...
- 1:29What exactly is that? What exactly are we saying with church?
- 1:34See, Merriam-Webster's dictionary states it's a building for public religious services.
- 1:41And then they say, especially Christian worship.
- 1:46Or it's a body or organization of religious believers or the clergy of a religious body.
- 1:57You could take any of those definitions and interchange them, whatever you like.
- 2:03But I could take what I learned a long time ago when I was under the whole Catholic
- 2:10religion and I was going to religious instruction.
- 2:14And the instructor, don't remember her name or anything like that.
- 2:18It was many, many years ago, but something stuck with me where she had asked, What is a church?
- 2:28And everybody said, oh, it's the building, it's the house of God and all that.
- 2:33But she had defined it differently. She says, if a bunch of people got together
- 2:39out in a park to talk about God,
- 2:44Is that a church? And I still remember that to this very day from childhood.
- 2:51It's just a group of people. We don't need a physical building over us.
- 2:57Church is a noun, is a building. But church could be defined as a group of people
- 3:03all discussing the same religious belief.
- 3:07Or, in eye-opener society's case, it could be a group of people all discussing religions on all terms,
- 3:14Spirituality on all terms As well as the metaphysical In all terms And then
- 3:21we have a ministry Now a ministry It's a form of service The work of a religious leader Or community,
- 3:30Active service Performed to express faith And help others encompass Both spiritual
- 3:37guidance Preaching And pastoral care And support I like that one.
- 3:44That one fits eye-opener society almost to a T.
- 3:49But if we combine those two words, church, ministry, and we use the word society,
- 3:55Are we changing anything?
- 3:59By legal standards, Eye Opener Society is a religious organization.
- 4:06When we throw in the tax man and we throw in government and all that,
- 4:09it gives certain definitions in order to fit a certain thing,
- 4:14in order for us to be established, blah, blah, blah.
- 4:16But here's the thing, the IRS cannot determine, nor can they establish a definition
- 4:21for the word church because that would go against all beliefs of freedom of
- 4:25speech as well as freedom of religion.
- 4:27So therefore, they cannot define it, nor will they.
- 4:32And that's good because when it comes to a church, we're not here for political beliefs.
- 4:39We're not here for government interference. We are here to perform what we perform.
- 4:46And in our case, we're gathering a group of people, a society that's just expressing peace,
- 4:56love, metaphysics, spirituality, and whatever else we wish to discuss because
- 5:01it is our church, it's your church as well, or your ministry,
- 5:06or your religious organization.
- 5:08You could give us whatever name you like. It's fine.
- 5:13Going on further, we define ourselves as a church And then we got to wonder
- 5:20about religion and what do we actually teach.
- 5:23And the thing is, we're not teaching any specific religion. We're a religious organization.
- 5:31Worship, when it comes to that, God is a source, all-encompassing.
- 5:36Those are three different definitions.
- 5:38You could use whatever you like, whatever you believe in.
- 5:42God, source, all-encompassing, universal consciousness.
- 5:47I thought about this the other night when I was thinking about what I was going
- 5:52to speak about on tonight's sermon.
- 5:54And I remember going through my course through the University of Sedona for the metaphysical.
- 6:01And there was a lot of God, this, Jesus, that.
- 6:04And I said, I thought I was learning about metaphysics. I didn't realize there's
- 6:09going to be so much God in Jesus. I only know about it because that's my past
- 6:14religion, you know, when I was practicing Catholicism.
- 6:20But it quickly says you're defining God as a source.
- 6:25And if you believe that there is an all-encompassing creator of all sorts in
- 6:30everything, well, don't we, by definition, fall under the category of everything?
- 6:40See, that religious instruction teacher also said, and I even remember this, what is heaven?
- 6:47Is heaven floating on some cloud in the sky? That would be pretty boring.
- 6:54God is everywhere and in everything.
- 7:00So we can't define just one God all the time unless that's what you believe
- 7:04in. I believe in multiple gods.
- 7:07But I don't worship or pray to any one. And here's the reason why.
- 7:13See, us as human beings, we're made up of flesh, blood, bone.
- 7:19Most of us can believe we have something within us, a soul.
- 7:23But then there's a third thing that might also fit into that soul.
- 7:28And that's consciousness. We've never really been able to define consciousness,
- 7:35We're still trying to figure out
- 7:37exactly what that is And I think without consciousness What would we be?
- 7:43Now, to me, if we're talking God, we're also talking consciousness that we all have within us.
- 7:54And that's a beautiful thing. And what I was taught and what I believe, power of prayer, right?
- 8:02There's so many of these prayer warriors and prayer groups that go out there and they do their thing.
- 8:07And they're praying to God for a specific result.
- 8:12The thing is, there's been many, many cases where these prayer groups had great
- 8:20outcomes, perfect success.
- 8:22But the thing is, many people believe, oh, that's God.
- 8:26The thing is, if I'm praying over someone to heal someone, and that person miraculously
- 8:32heals, God didn't just step out of the universe, come trampling down,
- 8:37put his hands over it, and say, okay, healed.
- 8:40And then turn to us prayer warriors and say, hey, I heard your prayer and I've done it for you.
- 8:47It does not happen that way. It goes right to source, to God,
- 8:52to the universe, whatever it is, whatever word we use.
- 8:58It goes up there and us as human beings, we have this power.
- 9:05And I say something that is so sacrilege in most religions saying we are gods ourselves,
- 9:17because we have access to the same source, to the same power,
- 9:24to that same universe to do these things.
- 9:27When we get together and we pray or prayer warriors do this,
- 9:32they are talking to source.
- 9:36That power from source comes down to us through our consciousness,
- 9:40which then spreads to wherever it is that we are praying for.
- 9:47You could choose not to believe this, and I'm okay with that.
- 9:50Everybody has their own beliefs.
- 9:51But when it comes to metaphysical, when it comes to spiritual,
- 9:54we're not designed for structured religion, saying we must grovel to a certain God.
- 10:01No, we have the same power, the same source, because we came from that source,
- 10:08and we are connected to that same source.
- 10:13It's just a matter of believing that, reaching up and understanding that no
- 10:18matter how we do it, if we pray, if we do rituals, no matter what,
- 10:23we're connecting to that same source.
- 10:27And that source is coming down through us. We're very divine in that way.
- 10:33Our souls are still so connected.
- 10:36I believe our bodies are too as well. We just need to remember how to activate that.
- 10:43But for right now For what we can do Some of us have much more gifts Than most,
- 10:51And that's great too But we all have that And we must remember that We all have our own gifts,
- 10:58And it's just a matter of practicing And once we believe And we use the words
- 11:03Whatever word we choose God's source,
- 11:07Consciousness Universal.
- 11:10We're using that It's part of us, it's in us.
- 11:13And we just activate it through that source.
- 11:17And then when we're down here, gathering on our Thursday sermons,
- 11:22this could be church, a ministry, a religious organization, a society.
- 11:28We call it what we will. The power of words are very, very important.
- 11:33And if we're using them correctly,
- 11:37They're going to mean a lot to us, and they can establish things for us.
- 11:42My name is Gary Dean. I thank you for joining me on this sermon.
- 11:45I'm going to turn things over now to our cosmic fairy princess,
- 11:49speaking of words, and let's see what she's got for us. Lizzie, take it away.
- 11:55Thank you very much. That was a lovely sermon, by the way, now that you moved my screen around.
- 12:04When I was thinking about what I wanted to talk about today, I was thinking about how,
- 12:10everybody kind of approaches truth a little bit differently,
- 12:13and something that's really important to all with this church,
- 12:17if I decide where I want my thing at.
- 12:22That each person has the opportunity to explore their own truth.
- 12:27Because I do believe that each person has something very unique to themselves
- 12:32that they can only find within themselves.
- 12:36But I think it's also true that you see that reflected in the world around you.
- 12:42And two things can be true at once. And that kind of led me to what I wanted
- 12:46to talk about today, because my favorite way to explore truth,
- 12:50because when you try to go and broaden your perspective, there's like a lot
- 12:55of infinite possibilities.
- 12:56And that's hard. And there's, of course, infinite ways to go about it.
- 13:00But my favorite way is to play with polarity, duality and unified truth.
- 13:07Truth when i originally was
- 13:10exploring truth i was trying to find like this core deepest
- 13:13truth this like undeniable below everything
- 13:18just foundational but the truth is it just doesn't really work that way we all
- 13:25exist as everything everywhere everyone in every way but we're also in this
- 13:32beautifully and carefully crafted,
- 13:34limited perspective and experience of being a human, your version of a human.
- 13:40And so we actually, in a way, select our truth by our awareness of what we're
- 13:47willing to witness, hold, let go of change and body.
- 13:51We select our truth with our actions, our words, and the definitions and whys of life.
- 13:59The thing is, is when I first was exploring truth and I would reach a new layer
- 14:03of it, it was like it kind of undid that truth.
- 14:07And I'd be like, oh, I was like, I was so wrong. And I tried to like rewrite everything.
- 14:12And as I rewrote it, I would find that actually my new truth is true,
- 14:17but also the old truth is true too, just not necessarily in the way that I was viewing it before.
- 14:28The thing is, is when truth, when you find a new truth, and it undoes the old
- 14:33truth, generally speaking, you're not getting rid of a filter or a lens,
- 14:39you're just changing perspective, you're changing the lens.
- 14:43And that's really useful to then get to know that experience, that perspective.
- 14:48But for me, my end goal is to eventually find where they merge together.
- 14:56So I define polar truths as two opposing truths, like good and evil.
- 15:04Duality is allowing those polar truths to exist simultaneously without undoing
- 15:10each other, as in good and evil both exist, and they're both right and wrong in their own way.
- 15:19Unified truth is where you begin
- 15:22to recognize where the polar truths actually support
- 15:25and reinforce each other rather than argue
- 15:29with each other because that's typically what happens in the beginning of finding
- 15:33a new perspective is it feels like it's the opposite it like it undoes the other
- 15:39one but slowly when you give it space to just exist and everything to move without
- 15:46you holding and defining,
- 15:47those polar truths kind of start merging into one truth.
- 15:52And when it becomes a unified truth, it actually, they support each other and
- 15:57they support you in what you're trying to do.
- 16:00And so if it doesn't get to that, then you're not there yet.
- 16:04You're exploring this perspective.
- 16:07Nothing wrong with that. Nothing to rush. You'll just like, fuck yourself up anyways with that.
- 16:13By merging polar truths, you slowly reveal a broader truth that is more useful,
- 16:18but that is yours to determine.
- 16:25It can be true that a person's behavior is inappropriate and kind of makes them
- 16:29an asshole, but it can also be true that they were doing the very best they
- 16:33could with what they had and what they knew, and from where they were standing,
- 16:37that was the right thing to do.
- 16:40Both of those can be true. And when you give space for an example,
- 16:47their intentions were to protect themselves and their actions were not great.
- 16:51Both of those can exist at once. And when you give space for that,
- 16:56you get to see their perspective and love them where they are.
- 16:59And it gives them space to love themselves where they are, which opens them
- 17:03up to evolving that perspective to better see your perspective.
- 17:08When you see the way that they're learning to strengthen their boundaries,
- 17:13you're learning to soften yours, you see how the disagreement was actually beneficial
- 17:17for both of you guys, so long as you let go of what you're insisting on.
- 17:22The original truth is that their behavior was inappropriate,
- 17:26and it makes them an asshole.
- 17:28The fact that the argument came out to resolve things you didn't realize were
- 17:33a problem doesn't undo that that was not a great way to handle the situation.
- 17:38That's still true, but also the other one gets to be true, too.
- 17:43And truthfully, this polarity-duality-unify goes through all of it.
- 17:50And that's personally how I like to explore it.
- 17:54Another one, a big topic right now that everybody's on is how expensive gas is.
- 18:00It's true that the gas prices have gone up right now, but it's also true that
- 18:05the price of things are actually irrelevant to me.
- 18:09We are all infinitely abundant multidimensional beings.
- 18:14That means that if the prices go up, either we'll have more resources to fund
- 18:19it or it's in our best interest to drive less.
- 18:22Prices have gone up, but that doesn't have to limit you.
- 18:26That would mean that they are existing still as polar or maybe even dual truths.
- 18:33Sometimes it's an opportunity to look around and see what wants to shift in
- 18:37life. Maybe you get a grand idea for making some new money.
- 18:41Maybe it gets you to notice that your car is actually eating up far more fuel
- 18:45than it usually does. It maybe needs some maintenance.
- 18:48Maybe you realize you're actually not that efficient with your errands and you
- 18:52can save gas in more importantly time if you just strategize a little,
- 18:56which will in turn open you up to more.
- 18:58The thing is, is a lot of the times we encounter these things that just seem
- 19:02like they're like, like, what the hell?
- 19:07Example today my apartment complex
- 19:10took the railing off of my porch I just have no
- 19:13railing on my porch and they've also taken all the wooding from underneath the
- 19:17cement plank I'm actually uncertain if it's safe to walk on my cats go out there
- 19:25like and they're just they just left they didn't inform me that it was going
- 19:29to happen that just happened and so I'm sitting there going,
- 19:34what am I supposed to do and I want to ask all these questions and maybe I will
- 19:39maybe I won't tomorrow when they're open like when am I going to get a railing
- 19:43on my board the truth is is that,
- 19:49They should have notified me that's not safe to not tell a person you're going
- 19:54to pull the railing off of their porch.
- 19:56But it's also true that my cats will actually be just fine.
- 20:01They know where the edge is and I lock the door.
- 20:05The kids can't get out there. It is safe. Both of those are true.
- 20:09And for whatever this is trying to teach me, show me, reveal to me,
- 20:14move me towards them, I don't know yet because it just barely happened and I'm
- 20:17still processing what the heck.
- 20:21How do you anyways it's fine i just you know you got to be a little and you
- 20:26know remove the railings in life i guess maybe that's a good reminder.
- 20:35When you're exploring truth, it's really easy to get caught up in that everything
- 20:39has like a specific meaning.
- 20:41But the truth is, is you do decide that.
- 20:44Is it teaching you something? Is it revealing something to you?
- 20:48Is it just a fucking annoying thing that people just didn't think about your perspective?
- 20:54And the truth is, is it doesn't matter and you just get to decide.
- 20:59And so when something's happening and you're pissed about it,
- 21:04before you move, before you let it go, before all of those things,
- 21:09like just give it a minute to just be.
- 21:12Because sometimes we jump to an assumption, but a lot of the times that's just
- 21:19based off of our past pattern.
- 21:20And the more we can just allow things to reveal themselves and allow those truths
- 21:27to be explored without trying to define them along the way,
- 21:31the more we just open ourselves up to more potential, more opportunities.
- 21:37And, okay, I think that's it. So thank you so much for listening to me today.
- 21:46Well, that was absolutely fantastic, Lizzie. Thank you so much.
- 21:50And thank you so much to everybody that tunes in, joins us.
- 21:53Of course, if you miss us, this is recorded and we're going to get it up in
- 21:57a little while. And you can tune in whenever you like.
- 22:00But in the meantime, from Eye Opener Society, we thank you all so very much
- 22:05for joining us. And we'll see you next Thursday, 7 p.m.
- 22:09Eastern Standard Time for our live sermon. Have a good one.
