- 0:19Speaker 2: You spent time yesterday looking at the cantasy. You need
- 0:23Speaker 2: to do something with him.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Sorry for doing my job.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Job, but Joe says, regular callers who sound like they
- 0:29Speaker 1: have marbles in their mouth, were talking like they have
- 0:32Speaker 1: gills and don't believe in pauses between sentences. What is
- 0:36Speaker 1: going on outside? I would hang up on any caller
- 0:39Speaker 1: that says, can you hear me? Be better?
- 0:40Speaker 4: Callers? Anthony's in Seattle?
- 0:43Speaker 1: What's up?
- 0:43Speaker 4: Anthony?
- 0:44Speaker 3: He you guys here, stop trying to give me a
- 0:45Speaker 3: T shirt. I don't want the freaking no shirt. I
- 0:48Speaker 3: hate it. I don't want the T shirt. I'm not
- 0:52Speaker 3: wearing it.
- 0:52Speaker 5: I just imagine having walking into the garden for like
- 0:54Speaker 5: a playoff game, and there's T shirts hanging on the back.
- 0:58Speaker 1: Tell Boston Celtics to put tissues in the back of
- 1:01Speaker 1: Evan's share of games.
- 1:02Speaker 4: With the amount of crying he.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Does one, bro, we got way better listening to Taylor
- 1:07Speaker 1: Kyle's is Patriots Unfiltered?
- 1:09Speaker 5: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:13Speaker 5: dot com.
- 1:16Speaker 1: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:21Speaker 1: at a Let's Stadium. I always have to think after
- 1:23Speaker 1: a holiday because it messes me up, you know, like
- 1:26Speaker 1: all I think it's Monday, but it's not.
- 1:28Speaker 2: It's Tuesday. Because like at the first day of the week,
- 1:31Speaker 2: we had a show. Yeah, you know, did you come back,
- 1:35Speaker 2: you know, stuff to say.
- 1:38Speaker 1: It's Evan's Alex in the booth. So did you guys
- 1:43Speaker 1: have a good weekend? Good Memorial Day weekend?
- 1:45Speaker 3: It was great, Frank, thanks for asking. How was yours?
- 1:46Speaker 2: Yeah, joining good.
- 1:48Speaker 4: I painted a door.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw The Mandalorian and oh did you how
- 1:53Speaker 1: was it? It was fine?
- 1:55Speaker 6: It was fine, Yeah, it was you know, it was
- 1:57Speaker 6: a cute little movie.
- 1:58Speaker 4: I heard some really bad reviews.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that little movie.
- 2:00Speaker 1: It depends what you're going for.
- 2:02Speaker 5: I think if you just want a summer movie, you
- 2:03Speaker 5: don't have to think too much. There's not really a story,
- 2:06Speaker 5: you know, just kind of a plot. We're fighting monsters.
- 2:08Speaker 5: But I saw it in three D and I was
- 2:10Speaker 5: entertained for two hours, so it was okay. It's just fine.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Mixed review, I would say it was fine, fine, Okay.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah, I gotta go see it. I still need to
- 2:18Speaker 1: see Project tail Mary too. It's not digital now you've
- 2:21Speaker 1: rented for twenty bucks.
- 2:23Speaker 4: I just just the principle of it.
- 2:26Speaker 6: That's another that's another nice one, nice movie.
- 2:28Speaker 4: A little more story in that one, all right, Okay, Yeah,
- 2:31Speaker 4: I had a good, decent weekend.
- 2:33Speaker 6: The weather stunk.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yeah, the weather wasn't great. It seems like we.
- 2:37Speaker 1: Got our mowing in a Memorial Day. Get a moment
- 2:40Speaker 1: I did.
- 2:40Speaker 2: I cannot you. I know, I kept the grass, did
- 2:42Speaker 2: the edging on Friday in preparation of a long yard
- 2:46Speaker 2: work day on Saturday. I may have. I may have
- 2:48Speaker 2: done a little too much. Freddy that the lakes were
- 2:50Speaker 2: not feeling good all weekend.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I don't mow my lawn now. I have somebody that
- 2:55Speaker 1: comes to but I do everything else, like all the
- 2:57Speaker 1: weeding and everything. But I did say at her, but
- 3:00Speaker 1: you know, with the leg and everything, I really can't
- 3:03Speaker 1: do it.
- 3:03Speaker 4: So I called the place.
- 3:04Speaker 1: I said, hey, can normally I do this, but can
- 3:07Speaker 1: you come over do the weeding around the foundation, you know,
- 3:10Speaker 1: all the beds. Okay, So they send over this woman.
- 3:15Speaker 1: She does two of them and leaves. So I call
- 3:17Speaker 1: them back. She didn't finish, she didn't do She comes over,
- 3:21Speaker 1: does another half. So this now we're on the third time.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Now I take pictures and I'm like, she didn't finish
- 3:28Speaker 1: the job. I go, I'm going to get this boot
- 3:30Speaker 1: off in one week. I'll just do it myself at
- 3:32Speaker 1: this point, but hopefully they're going to send her back.
- 3:35Speaker 4: But like.
- 3:39Speaker 2: What they charge you just out.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Of care for the weeding, I don't know yet.
- 3:44Speaker 2: So I did that same time when I had my
- 3:46Speaker 2: achilles surgery. I had always done all that crap myself
- 3:50Speaker 2: because I always feel like, you know, anything that's doable,
- 3:53Speaker 2: Like there's a lot of things I don't have the
- 3:55Speaker 2: ability to do. I can weed my own, you know,
- 3:58Speaker 2: mulch beds and replace them and all that stuff like
- 4:01Speaker 2: that's kind of easy. I mean it's it's hard work,
- 4:03Speaker 2: but it's easy to do, like you don't need to
- 4:06Speaker 2: be overly skilled. So I used to do it all
- 4:09Speaker 2: the time. And then I did that. I could not
- 4:11Speaker 2: believe what they charged for that stuff.
- 4:13Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 2: It was mulching all of that all the spring, the
- 4:18Speaker 2: spring cleaning, replacing the mulch beds, the edging of all.
- 4:22Speaker 4: The areas fifteen fifteen hundred.
- 4:25Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, it wasn't that wasn't that much.
- 4:28Speaker 2: Maybe I got a deal. I thought, you don't have
- 4:31Speaker 2: The eight hundred that I was paying was a lot
- 4:33Speaker 2: eight hundred. That's what I paid.
- 4:34Speaker 1: How much square feet would you say it is? Oh?
- 4:37Speaker 2: I don't, I don't know. It's not big like the
- 4:39Speaker 2: mulching mall.
- 4:40Speaker 4: You much alone is probably like two three hundred bucks.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah, but you probably have a sprawling.
- 4:44Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying, like the compound over there.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Compound.
- 4:49Speaker 6: By the way, Fred, that guy that gets owned your house?
- 4:51Speaker 6: Did you see that?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah? So that was wild.
- 4:53Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:54Speaker 1: Last week I was talking about the house I live in,
- 4:56Speaker 1: which is a historic house, and it turns out somebody
- 4:59Speaker 1: who was listening used to live in the house, and
- 5:03Speaker 1: it did because I had the whole genealogy of the house.
- 5:05Speaker 1: And yes, he certainly did, And that was pretty cool.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I guess the guy owns a chateau in France now
- 5:11Speaker 1: or something like that, over and visit you.
- 5:16Speaker 2: But that was why the previous owner is now living
- 5:18Speaker 2: in a chateau in France. But but Fred's just a
- 5:21Speaker 2: common But.
- 5:22Speaker 3: I get dismissed it a compound.
- 5:25Speaker 1: He's not getting my gardens ready, get this gun out
- 5:28Speaker 1: of here. It was a fixer up of the ference.
- 5:32Speaker 1: It looked real, but that was what And he's a
- 5:34Speaker 1: big fan of the show, so that was a who knew?
- 5:38Speaker 1: Who knew? Uh? Is there something going on on the site.
- 5:43Speaker 1: It's World Cups.
- 5:44Speaker 4: This whole Fifas stuff is getting on my nerves.
- 5:48Speaker 6: It's like fort knocks around here.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I don't know what it is, but I can hear it. Yeah,
- 5:52Speaker 1: that's all right, it's not like the beat, not us.
- 5:55Speaker 1: All right, So Patriots stuff? Where do we go tomorrow?
- 5:59Speaker 4: A tomorrow?
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:01Speaker 2: Actually, do we have.
- 6:08Speaker 1: A game plan for tomorrow? What are you looking at?
- 6:10Speaker 1: What do you you know? I just start I want
- 6:13Speaker 1: to see you.
- 6:14Speaker 5: I rare it and I just said and I wanted
- 6:16Speaker 5: to see him in mini camp just the eyeball kind
- 6:18Speaker 5: of tests and he's a really big guy.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Just see him in person, Like, is he coming off
- 6:23Speaker 1: any injury?
- 6:24Speaker 6: I mean he should be okay. I don't know why
- 6:25Speaker 6: he wasn't in any camp A couple.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah, we know atis was he had a hamstring that
- 6:30Speaker 3: he was limited his pre draft process. He had to
- 6:33Speaker 3: work out late in the process in like early April,
- 6:36Speaker 3: So maybe that was, you know, lingering into rookie mini
- 6:39Speaker 3: camp but nowhord On rared in so hopefully that was
- 6:43Speaker 3: just like, I don't know, something contract or something.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Would there anything that you would see tomorrow? Would anything
- 6:50Speaker 1: surprise you, like realistically? I mean a player out of position?
- 6:55Speaker 6: Yeah, always position that you.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Have allowed to say, the one that will get you
- 7:01Speaker 2: mad at me if I say.
- 7:02Speaker 6: It Will Campbell AT's center, No, Lomo will.
- 7:05Speaker 2: Play and left tackle would surprise me?
- 7:06Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I mean within what like yeah right, not yeah, yes.
- 7:13Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying instead of Will Campbell. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 2: maybe a little bit would surprise me. Yeah, I'm expecting
- 7:19Speaker 2: Will Campbell to be in his normal spot.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Me too, that's I think where that's the number one
- 7:24Speaker 3: thing to me. I actually wrote about this on Patriots
- 7:26Speaker 3: dot com.
- 7:26Speaker 1: So you can be surprised if Booty showed up.
- 7:29Speaker 5: Yes, that's the big question too for me. I mean,
- 7:33Speaker 5: would I be surprised if he showed up? He hasn't
- 7:35Speaker 5: been here. I'm not sure what I'd be more surprised
- 7:38Speaker 5: at at this point, And I'm wondering if that's potentially
- 7:40Speaker 5: connected to a move that might happen next week, So
- 7:43Speaker 5: this is.
- 7:45Speaker 4: Volunt's why.
- 7:47Speaker 3: So I think that this would surprise me. Mini camp
- 7:50Speaker 3: maybe not because you.
- 7:52Speaker 4: Know, mandatory minute.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, then he get fined and you go
- 7:54Speaker 3: down that whole route, but voluntary OTAs, I'd be pretty
- 7:58Speaker 3: surprised if he was there. Okay, based off of what's
- 8:00Speaker 3: happened so far, But yeah, I think that, you know
- 8:03Speaker 3: the biggest thing. You know, there's some roster competitions, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 3: back into the running back depth chart, wide receiver depth chart,
- 8:10Speaker 3: all over the defense really all three levels. You know,
- 8:13Speaker 3: who are going to fill out those depth piece spots.
- 8:15Speaker 3: But he drafted a tackle in the first round. You know, like,
- 8:18Speaker 3: where where is he going to play? Where's his rookie
- 8:21Speaker 3: season outlook? Look like, what's the plan?
- 8:23Speaker 7: There?
- 8:24Speaker 3: Is it the Nate Soldier plan where he's the top
- 8:27Speaker 3: swing tackle and he plays if somebody had heard but
- 8:30Speaker 3: you know, or is he so good that he needs
- 8:32Speaker 3: to play?
- 8:32Speaker 1: You know? Speaking for myself, I would not be surprised
- 8:37Speaker 1: if Lomu was taking first rep at right tackle just
- 8:42Speaker 1: because Morgan moses, like, what does he.
- 8:44Speaker 2: Need to do with Yeah, hundred percent I agree that
- 8:46Speaker 2: would not be that would not be stunning, and you
- 8:48Speaker 2: probably want to get him some reps on the right
- 8:50Speaker 2: side because he hasn't had many of them.
- 8:52Speaker 5: So I don't know if there's more low management yet
- 8:54Speaker 5: at this phase, but I do think that's something to
- 8:56Speaker 5: expect in training camp. I just throw out, like the
- 8:59Speaker 5: safety group, you know, you brought in Byered excited to
- 9:02Speaker 5: see him, but you know, Mike Brown another kind of
- 9:04Speaker 5: veteran they brought in.
- 9:05Speaker 6: Is he in the mix with some three safety stuff?
- 9:08Speaker 5: But I think for the most part, it's kind of set,
- 9:10Speaker 5: like you know, for the most part, I mean, there
- 9:12Speaker 5: might be guys that aren't here, and that's there, you know,
- 9:14Speaker 5: prerogative if they if they're not here, but you know, otherwise,
- 9:18Speaker 5: if the whole team's here, I think you pretty much
- 9:19Speaker 5: know who's going to be where.
- 9:21Speaker 1: But Booty would be top.
- 9:22Speaker 6: Of the question for me. Is he show up?
- 9:24Speaker 5: Is that you know, is that connected to what could
- 9:26Speaker 5: possibly happen next week?
- 9:28Speaker 1: You know, I mean, is.
- 9:29Speaker 5: There I don't know, I've never seen any speculation of like,
- 9:32Speaker 5: you know, is there a handshake deal? And is Booty
- 9:34Speaker 5: part of that handshake deal? And they just said, look,
- 9:36Speaker 5: stay away from the building. You're gonna end up in
- 9:38Speaker 5: Philly eventually.
- 9:39Speaker 4: I tend to think no, because.
- 9:41Speaker 2: He's been told to stay away from the buildings.
- 9:43Speaker 1: No, not that I agree, but I also don't think
- 9:46Speaker 1: he's part of any deal. If there is a deal,
- 9:49Speaker 1: I don't think Booty would be part of it with
- 9:50Speaker 1: the Eagles because they've already got a bunch of resists.
- 9:54Speaker 4: They don't need him.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I mean they did sign a bunch. I mean you
- 9:57Speaker 2: could argue they didn't sign anybody like A J. Brown,
- 9:59Speaker 2: but they did sign like Hollywood Brown and Elijah or
- 10:04Speaker 2: whims Uh Danavian. I mean they signed a lot of
- 10:07Speaker 2: like Keshawn Booty's, yeah, you know, sort of complimentary receivers.
- 10:12Speaker 1: So where does that leave Booty?
- 10:13Speaker 5: If AJ Brown arrives next week and the next time
- 10:16Speaker 5: we go to an Ota next Wednesday and AJ Brown's
- 10:18Speaker 5: out there and Booty isn't.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Where does that.
- 10:20Speaker 5: Put Booty in the hierarchy? Is he looking for a
- 10:23Speaker 5: new contract going into the last year of his deal?
- 10:25Speaker 5: Is he, you know, now has he become obvious trade bait?
- 10:29Speaker 1: I don't know how it's going to affet him if
- 10:30Speaker 1: A J. Brown arrives.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Yeah, And it's also a fair fair questions.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Question of when you know, if there is a trade
- 10:36Speaker 3: with Booty, makes more sense to probably do that at
- 10:39Speaker 3: the end of August than it does now. So then
- 10:41Speaker 3: he has to go through a training camp entirely with
- 10:44Speaker 3: the Patriots, and you know, if you're the Patriots, somebody
- 10:47Speaker 3: gets hurt from a different team and all of a
- 10:48Speaker 3: sudden there's a need at wide receiver and value goes
- 10:51Speaker 3: on right like that sort of thing. But then now
- 10:53Speaker 3: he's doing training camp with Patriots and he's kind of
- 10:56Speaker 3: waiting around to potentially get traded at right around roster cuts,
- 11:00Speaker 3: there's usually another sort of trade window that opens up
- 11:04Speaker 3: there there where players get moved. But then your whole
- 11:08Speaker 3: summer is in New England, which is not where you're
- 11:10Speaker 3: necessarily going to play the season. So it's so interesting.
- 11:14Speaker 1: You know, we did hear that June first is an
- 11:19Speaker 1: important date for salary cap reasons, particularly in relation to
- 11:22Speaker 1: this whole AJ Brown and the Eagles thing, But I
- 11:26Speaker 1: assume the same thing is for other teams too, like
- 11:28Speaker 1: they have certain situations that are affected by June first.
- 11:32Speaker 1: So maybe you know, we're focused on what could happen here,
- 11:37Speaker 1: but there could be a lot of movement around the league.
- 11:39Speaker 4: Perhaps after June first.
- 11:41Speaker 3: Well, trades, you can designate a cut post June one,
- 11:44Speaker 3: so like they could have cut a player at March
- 11:46Speaker 3: and then designate him as opposed you one. You just
- 11:49Speaker 3: can't do that with trades. So that's why they hold
- 11:51Speaker 3: up with the aj Brown trade. I don't it could happen,
- 11:54Speaker 3: but I like, I think that this is really the
- 11:56Speaker 3: only one that people are focused on right now. But
- 12:00Speaker 3: you know, there have been rumblings of some other guys,
- 12:03Speaker 3: like is Max Crosby really gonna stay with the Raiders,
- 12:06Speaker 3: you know, after the trade fell.
- 12:07Speaker 1: Through involved and heard that rumbling.
- 12:09Speaker 3: The kid in Arizona, the pass Rusher, I'm baking on
- 12:11Speaker 3: his name right now, look it up. He's another one that.
- 12:15Speaker 8: There.
- 12:16Speaker 3: There's been some some name eagles dropping for yeah, Josh
- 12:21Speaker 3: Sweat Sweat, Yeah, that's who it is. S Twitter rumors
- 12:25Speaker 3: like nothing, not you know, scuttle butt, not not real reporting.
- 12:29Speaker 1: So things could change after June first, and maybe that
- 12:33Speaker 1: affects the value of Booty out there or the interest
- 12:36Speaker 1: in him. I don't know.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I'm just with f I think that this is a
- 12:40Speaker 2: rare thing that you have a high priced guy who
- 12:44Speaker 2: wants badly to be out and it makes sense for
- 12:48Speaker 2: the team to wait until June first. I don't think
- 12:50Speaker 2: there's a lot of the June first stuff anymore because
- 12:52Speaker 2: of what Evan said. Yeah, you can designate cuts as
- 12:56Speaker 2: you want. Plus I think you're starting to see increase
- 13:00Speaker 2: the teams are not overly worried about this dead cap
- 13:03Speaker 2: stuff because it's so manageable. Because the cap is so high,
- 13:06Speaker 2: you know, to the point where Tua is like, you know,
- 13:09Speaker 2: setting a record for dead cap money, and you know,
- 13:13Speaker 2: I know, I know, Miami's in a different spot, but
- 13:15Speaker 2: there's a lot of teams that are in kind of
- 13:17Speaker 2: that spot that they don't have to be. You know,
- 13:19Speaker 2: Philadelphia is not. They're a Super Bowl They deem themselves
- 13:22Speaker 2: a Super Bowl contender, so obviously they want to position
- 13:26Speaker 2: themselves so they don't forfeit that amount of you know, flexibility.
- 13:30Speaker 2: But a lot of other teams will just take the
- 13:31Speaker 2: hit and be on with it.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Yeah, just to think it's an interesting situation with Booty.
- 13:36Speaker 5: I just I wonder how the team. I don't know
- 13:38Speaker 5: how this is all playing out, Like there might not
- 13:40Speaker 5: be any deal for aj Brown and so therefore is
- 13:43Speaker 5: he waiting out there for a new deal? Is that
- 13:46Speaker 5: you know why he is not here? Is that what
- 13:47Speaker 5: this is hinting at. But I also can't get out
- 13:50Speaker 5: of my head that you've been trying so hard to
- 13:52Speaker 5: find receivers that like, you know, not to say that
- 13:53Speaker 5: he is. And I haven't been exactly on the Kishan Boody,
- 13:57Speaker 5: you know, express but I think he's a solid player
- 13:59Speaker 5: for that like him, you know, And it's I think
- 14:01Speaker 5: it's experienced to be like he's kind of got a
- 14:04Speaker 5: better each year for them, and you know, last year
- 14:06Speaker 5: was clearly had a great connection with Drake May had
- 14:09Speaker 5: you know, some great catches in the playoffs.
- 14:10Speaker 6: But there's but you know, it's.
- 14:14Speaker 5: Just that weird thing of well, but he's good, but
- 14:17Speaker 5: he's not good enough, Like are we trying you know,
- 14:19Speaker 5: we're trying to upgrade him. It's not the kind of
- 14:22Speaker 5: guy you just like to keep around anyway, you know.
- 14:24Speaker 5: I don't know, I feel like I'm jumping back to
- 14:25Speaker 5: the other side of the street because I've always been
- 14:27Speaker 5: on call Booty whatever.
- 14:28Speaker 1: It just seems curious his style of play versus A J. Brown,
- 14:32Speaker 1: Rumors of AJ Brown coming here all of a sudden,
- 14:35Speaker 1: Booty's not here. Yeah, you can't help, but not connect
- 14:39Speaker 1: those dots. Well, I think that Brown coming here means
- 14:44Speaker 1: that Booty is redundant.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I think you could certainly make that
- 14:49Speaker 2: that's not a stretch. But I just feel like Booty
- 14:52Speaker 2: is not here. And I don't know this. I have
- 14:55Speaker 2: not spoken to Kaishawn Booty or anybody who represents him.
- 14:58Speaker 2: But my guess is this is the same second off
- 15:00Speaker 2: season in a row he's dealt with the team doesn't
- 15:03Speaker 2: really want you. And that might be internet rumors as
- 15:07Speaker 2: Evan called them, That might be factual. It might be
- 15:09Speaker 2: something as you kind of eluded, Mike. Maybe the team
- 15:12Speaker 2: is sort of communicated we're going to look to get
- 15:14Speaker 2: you somewhere and give you more opportunities. But whatever the reason,
- 15:18Speaker 2: I can understand why Booty wouldn't be at voluntary work
- 15:22Speaker 2: because this, you know, kind of seems like the writing's
- 15:24Speaker 2: on the wall and the team's looking to move on.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know, yeah.
- 15:28Speaker 3: I just the question that I have with him, does
- 15:32Speaker 3: more target Like if he had a higher volume role,
- 15:35Speaker 3: what his production really increase a lot? Like we had
- 15:39Speaker 3: this conversation with Alec Pierce, right like, if he was
- 15:42Speaker 3: targeted more and if he had more opportunities, would his
- 15:45Speaker 3: production go way up? I think Kishon Booty kind of
- 15:48Speaker 3: is what he is, and that's not a bad player,
- 15:51Speaker 3: but ideally, as a well oiled machine, you should be
- 15:57Speaker 3: able to recycle Kaishon Booty's like you should be able
- 15:59Speaker 3: to take Kayshawn Boody's role, give it to Kyle Williams
- 16:03Speaker 3: who you just drafted in the third round and is
- 16:05Speaker 3: on his rookie contract behind AJ Brown and the beat
- 16:10Speaker 3: goes on and you don't even miss him. So like,
- 16:12Speaker 3: if AJ Brown is here and where's the role, where's
- 16:16Speaker 3: the snaps? Where are the targets for a guy like
- 16:19Speaker 3: Kaishawan Boody that keeps him happy, that that keeps him
- 16:23Speaker 3: on the program, Whereas with Kyle Williams, he's going to
- 16:25Speaker 3: be like, well that's a J. Brown, you know, Like,
- 16:28Speaker 3: I'm a second year guy that caught ten passes as
- 16:30Speaker 3: a rookie. I'm not gonna pout in the corner because
- 16:33Speaker 3: A J. Brown is the starting X and I'm not.
- 16:36Speaker 1: And it just seems to me that Vrabel isn't going
- 16:41Speaker 1: to be patient with guys who just don't want to
- 16:43Speaker 1: be here. If you're not happy here, we'll find a
- 16:47Speaker 1: place for you to go. And you know, I know, Paul,
- 16:50Speaker 1: I don't want to get into a whole conversation with
- 16:53Speaker 1: the backup quarterback that they jettisoned, what Joe Milton. Joe Milton,
- 16:58Speaker 1: but I think that was the case there him about
- 17:00Speaker 1: you know, Joe Milton didn't want to you know, he
- 17:02Speaker 1: was not being a good teammate, and Rabel said, all right,
- 17:06Speaker 1: you're gone. I don't think he has time for that. Yeah,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you know, I think the locker room and the culture
- 17:13Speaker 1: and all that stuff is important to him. So we're
- 17:17Speaker 1: not you know, unless you're Drake May and you're unhappy,
- 17:20Speaker 1: And in that case, we'll figure something out here. He's
- 17:24Speaker 1: not gonna he's not gonna spend time with guys of
- 17:27Speaker 1: that level.
- 17:28Speaker 2: I agree one thousand percent. My only question is does
- 17:35Speaker 2: Booty and this is again assuming that Boody is right
- 17:38Speaker 2: acting now, we don't assuming he doesn't want to be
- 17:40Speaker 2: here or whatever, you know, does he not want to
- 17:43Speaker 2: be here because he is unhappy with his role or whatever,
- 17:46Speaker 2: or does he not want to be here because the
- 17:47Speaker 2: team has sort of made it clear that they're not
- 17:49Speaker 2: necessarily sure they want him here. Two offseasons in a row,
- 17:53Speaker 2: there's been room. And again, I don't know, you know,
- 17:56Speaker 2: I'm putting stock in some of this stuff that maybe
- 17:58Speaker 2: I shouldn't be, but I'm reading these you know, wrap
- 18:02Speaker 2: ups on ESPN dot com from guys like Schefter and
- 18:06Speaker 2: Jeremy Fowler, who you know, tend to have the information.
- 18:12Speaker 2: And last year before the draft, this year, before the draft,
- 18:15Speaker 2: he was listed as one of those veteran players who
- 18:17Speaker 2: could be on the move. So maybe he's the one
- 18:22Speaker 2: that sees this stuff and like they don't want me,
- 18:25Speaker 2: So I'm not going to go there, right, you know.
- 18:27Speaker 2: And I don't know that's I just would wonder what
- 18:29Speaker 2: the genesis is of his you know, perceived unhappiness.
- 18:34Speaker 4: We can't stress that enough. We just don't.
- 18:35Speaker 2: I don't know, it's you know, I haven't talked to
- 18:37Speaker 2: Kaishon Boody since the end of the season, and I
- 18:39Speaker 2: certainly haven't talked to any of his representatives.
- 18:42Speaker 6: You dapped him up the locker room clean out to day.
- 18:44Speaker 2: That was last time I did not dab them up.
- 18:46Speaker 2: That I did not, but I have. I just I
- 18:48Speaker 2: don't want to like sometimes these Booty my dog. So
- 18:51Speaker 2: one of the things that I think it's dangerous about
- 18:53Speaker 2: what we do for a living. Is there's a lot
- 18:56Speaker 2: of sort of exaggeration that goes on. Well, you know,
- 19:00Speaker 2: I talked to that so and so in the locker room,
- 19:02Speaker 2: and you know he's not happy. He's not Oh really
- 19:05Speaker 2: he told you that? Well no, well yeah, but I
- 19:09Speaker 2: just I mean, I think it's safe to assume he's
- 19:11Speaker 2: not thrilled right now, and that's part of the reason
- 19:14Speaker 2: why he's not here. But again, it's a reach to
- 19:17Speaker 2: sort of interpret how unhappy he is, or is there
- 19:21Speaker 2: a point of no return like I'm never playing for
- 19:23Speaker 2: the Patriots again, or you know what, Hey, you know, Kayshon,
- 19:27Speaker 2: you know, we believe in you. We're looking to extend you.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Are you interested in anything like that? Or maybe they
- 19:35Speaker 2: reached out and they talked about parameters for an extension
- 19:38Speaker 2: and it was nowhere near what he thought he was worth.
- 19:40Speaker 2: There could be as simple as that. There's a lot
- 19:42Speaker 2: of things we don't know, and I think sometimes in
- 19:45Speaker 2: our business we pretend we know them and we really don't.
- 19:49Speaker 5: Especially tomorrow when there might be another guy or two
- 19:51Speaker 5: that aren't out there. And I mean remember last year
- 19:54Speaker 5: of Abel constantly being like voluntary this is volunteer. You know,
- 19:57Speaker 5: he's stressing how it's voluntary, and you know, but we
- 20:00Speaker 5: always look if guys aren't there, you know, veteran isn't there,
- 20:04Speaker 5: you wonder, all right, is he slowing down?
- 20:05Speaker 6: Are they taking extra time?
- 20:06Speaker 5: Or if a guy like Booty's not there, you're wondering
- 20:08Speaker 5: does he want a contract? So you know, it's Christian
- 20:10Speaker 5: Gazalez there. I mean, I don't know if this is
- 20:12Speaker 5: now the time for him to start holding in or
- 20:14Speaker 5: anything like that with his contract, But I mean, I'll
- 20:17Speaker 5: be curious if he's out on the.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Fields about surprising things. If he all of a sudden
- 20:21Speaker 2: wasn't out there tomorrow, I'd be a little surprised at that,
- 20:24Speaker 2: unless there was like some kind of a personal thing.
- 20:26Speaker 2: I'm not yet, but that would surprise me. He's been
- 20:29Speaker 2: here and all of a sudden he's not here to
- 20:30Speaker 2: win the media is here, that would be surprising.
- 20:32Speaker 1: So if you were a head coach of a football
- 20:34Speaker 1: team in the National Football League and OTA started, and
- 20:38Speaker 1: you know, one of your contributors, you know, isn't there,
- 20:42Speaker 1: how would you how do you handle that?
- 20:46Speaker 5: I think it's a delicate line because it's obviously negotiated
- 20:48Speaker 5: that they don't have to be here, so anything implying that,
- 20:51Speaker 5: you know, But I think as a coach, you want
- 20:53Speaker 5: I mean, I love seeing that Drake May is here,
- 20:55Speaker 5: you know. And I know that was a point with
- 20:57Speaker 5: Brady later in his career that he wasn't really around
- 20:59Speaker 5: for this stuff, being in the place where it's a new,
- 21:01Speaker 5: young team and that your quarterback is here every day
- 21:03Speaker 5: and you can see him kind of leading things along.
- 21:06Speaker 5: So I mean, it's hard. It's hard line to walk
- 21:09Speaker 5: because I would want my leaders here. I want, you know,
- 21:11Speaker 5: I want those pieces of the team to start to
- 21:14Speaker 5: form here in the offseason, and so it's hard to
- 21:16Speaker 5: do it if you can't have guys here. But at
- 21:18Speaker 5: the same time, what are you supposed to do. You
- 21:20Speaker 5: can't put their feet to the fire, you can't threaten them.
- 21:23Speaker 3: I would I would think you'd hope that the players
- 21:26Speaker 3: police themselves in that regard, Like, because the team can't
- 21:30Speaker 3: go to the players and say you need to be
- 21:32Speaker 3: here because it's voluntary. But can a Hunter Henry text
- 21:38Speaker 3: Keysehan Boodie and be like, hey, we miss you, where
- 21:41Speaker 3: are you at? You know, can Drake May say that?
- 21:45Speaker 3: Can on the defense side of the ball. We've seen
- 21:47Speaker 3: guys like Milton Williams have been around, you know those
- 21:50Speaker 3: If Milton Williams is here as one of the highest
- 21:52Speaker 3: paid players on the team, where are you.
- 21:55Speaker 5: Morgan Moses too, Like a guy who's older in the
- 21:58Speaker 5: league doesn't probably need this stuff.
- 21:59Speaker 6: He's got a fan, you know.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah, Like that's how That's how I would hope, But
- 22:03Speaker 3: that happens organically, right like you hope that the leadership, I.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Mean, the way I would handle as a head coach,
- 22:08Speaker 1: I would wand make it through my actions very clear
- 22:12Speaker 1: to the rest of the team that you're not here,
- 22:14Speaker 1: you're not here. You know we're gonna practice, it's not
- 22:18Speaker 1: you're not here. You're not here. That's fine, But I
- 22:20Speaker 1: would tell either Elliott or Ryan Cowden or somebody get
- 22:24Speaker 1: in touch with his agent, find out what's going on.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Just find out what's going on. I just let's just
- 22:29Speaker 1: know why he's not here for sure, assuming that they
- 22:33Speaker 1: didn't make.
- 22:33Speaker 2: It communicated, like, oh, just so you know, I'm not
- 22:37Speaker 2: going to be there for that some session two of.
- 22:39Speaker 5: The Sometimes it's the thing that like you know, he's
- 22:42Speaker 5: got and there's family members doing a thing or something,
- 22:44Speaker 5: and there's other times where you feel like they might
- 22:46Speaker 5: be unhappy.
- 22:47Speaker 2: And then this sounds like really terrible, but I I
- 22:51Speaker 2: think it's one of those deals with the coach. Do
- 22:54Speaker 2: you sort of act accordingly by based on the caliber
- 22:57Speaker 2: of the player, you know, if it's Milton Williams who's
- 23:00Speaker 2: not here, Well, I mean I'm not. I mean obviously,
- 23:03Speaker 2: if I'm a coach, I want every player there, but
- 23:07Speaker 2: I might be a little bit more willing to overlook
- 23:10Speaker 2: the fact that Milton Williams isn't there because he's a
- 23:12Speaker 2: great player and whatever, and I need him, and maybe
- 23:16Speaker 2: I make more of an example out of you know,
- 23:19Speaker 2: someone who's a little bit further down the depth chart,
- 23:22Speaker 2: you know, who's not showing.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Yeah, did you guys notice a shift?
- 23:25Speaker 4: Though?
- 23:25Speaker 5: I mean that I was correct, remember that, like Brady
- 23:27Speaker 5: at a certain point stop coming in stuff?
- 23:29Speaker 8: Right?
- 23:29Speaker 1: Was that?
- 23:29Speaker 6: Did you guys notice when you go out there and
- 23:31Speaker 6: it's like.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Ohhow it was exactly the right thing to do both ways.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I don't know how they pulled it off.
- 23:37Speaker 4: His life off the field had changed.
- 23:40Speaker 2: When he got a parking space, it was the most
- 23:42Speaker 2: important thing. Ever, when he didn't show up at all,
- 23:45Speaker 2: it was the most important thing. Ever, I don't know
- 23:47Speaker 2: how they did it.
- 23:48Speaker 3: It was just fun though, because like it would always
- 23:51Speaker 3: get blamed on the family aspect, like oh, I need
- 23:54Speaker 3: to spend time with my family. It was not the
- 23:57Speaker 3: family aspect. It was what was going on by behind
- 24:00Speaker 3: the scenes that we found out in twenty eighteen, twenty
- 24:03Speaker 3: nineteen when the rubber really met the road. It was contract,
- 24:06Speaker 3: it was relationship with Bill, it was it was.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I will say, quarterback is a little different, like you know,
- 24:12Speaker 2: it would it would bum me out in Baltimore that
- 24:14Speaker 2: Lamar Jackson, you know, sort of kind of on and
- 24:18Speaker 2: off that plan. You know, I'm going to be there
- 24:21Speaker 2: in the OTAs one year, I'm not going to be there,
- 24:23Speaker 2: the other going to be there. Sometimes, like I think
- 24:26Speaker 2: you need your quarterback to be part of that. And
- 24:28Speaker 2: I felt like that that was important when Brady was
- 24:30Speaker 2: part of it, and I felt it was important when
- 24:32Speaker 2: he wasn't part of it, that he needs to be there.
- 24:34Speaker 2: And that's going to hurt. Just because you end up
- 24:36Speaker 2: winning anyway, doesn't mean it didn't hurt you, do you
- 24:39Speaker 2: know what I'm saying?
- 24:40Speaker 5: Oh yeah, well, definitely with the with the level that
- 24:42Speaker 5: he's of expectation, that Brady set. And I mean, guys know,
- 24:45Speaker 5: instantly you get on the field with that guy, you
- 24:47Speaker 5: better like it doesn't matter that it's OTAs involuntary, like
- 24:51Speaker 5: you better be doing the right thing or he's already
- 24:53Speaker 5: starting to build up an opinion, like I don't.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Think this had influence on that that he had to
- 24:58Speaker 3: fill the bucket, the fan Emily bucket, and then you'd
- 25:01Speaker 3: have to fill it to the top because then and
- 25:04Speaker 3: and and during the season, he wouldn't be able to
- 25:06Speaker 3: spend time with the family, so the water would just
- 25:08Speaker 3: like last the whole season and then they'd build it
- 25:10Speaker 3: back up. That was that was the analogy that he
- 25:13Speaker 3: I vividly remember him two different well, he would put
- 25:19Speaker 3: two different things in buckets. Yeah, they liked the bucket.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Where your feet?
- 25:22Speaker 2: I just feel, oh, I love I love the buzz words,
- 25:25Speaker 2: don't get me good, don't get me going fillibusters.
- 25:28Speaker 1: Seriously, you don't think Thatzelle had an influence on him
- 25:31Speaker 1: not being here those years.
- 25:32Speaker 6: I'd be like, Giselle, where do you want me?
- 25:35Speaker 1: And I'm not saying that he stayed home to be
- 25:38Speaker 1: with her, but he she I think she put pressure
- 25:43Speaker 1: on him, Like you don't have to give.
- 25:44Speaker 4: Them all your time. You can this is your time.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Doesn't that make it our time?
- 25:48Speaker 1: You know? So like you know, I know like a
- 25:50Speaker 1: lot of times he said, oh, it's about the family,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and then you'd see him out doing commercial for one
- 25:55Speaker 1: of his things. But like I think she told him, no,
- 26:00Speaker 1: you don't have to be there. Go do your other business,
- 26:02Speaker 1: do your other things, like this is your time. They've
- 26:05Speaker 1: shown that they're not one hundred percent Team Brady. You
- 26:09Speaker 1: don't have to be one hundred percent Patriots. I think
- 26:11Speaker 1: she did have influence on him.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Maybe a little bit. But then he would also show
- 26:15Speaker 3: like there'd be videos of him like throwing to Edelman
- 26:17Speaker 3: and Amandola in his backyard.
- 26:18Speaker 1: No, that's what I mean. But on the same day
- 26:24Speaker 1: saying you need to stay home to be with me.
- 26:26Speaker 1: I think she would just say, do what you want
- 26:28Speaker 1: to do.
- 26:29Speaker 3: I'm sure, but I'm not going to pretend to know
- 26:32Speaker 3: his personal life with Gizell. But at that time period
- 26:35Speaker 3: there was obvious friction between him and Belichick.
- 26:40Speaker 9: And all that.
- 26:41Speaker 2: I just think with the quarterback, it's so like if
- 26:44Speaker 2: you're missing you know, if you're missing Hunter Henry and
- 26:48Speaker 2: reminder Stevenson, like the offense can still get itself together
- 26:52Speaker 2: if you're missing the Drake may. I think it's really
- 26:55Speaker 2: hard for the offense to be put together so and
- 26:59Speaker 2: maybe it's not fair, but I do think it's different
- 27:02Speaker 2: from no.
- 27:03Speaker 1: That's why the quarterbacks. One of the reasons why quarterbacks
- 27:05Speaker 1: get paid so high, because you are the face of
- 27:08Speaker 1: the team. You are the leader of the team. You know,
- 27:11Speaker 1: if you're not here, things kind of grind to a halt.
- 27:14Speaker 1: We're really we can't make progress unless our quarterbacks here.
- 27:19Speaker 5: Now, the way Paul put it, I was totally that, like,
- 27:21Speaker 5: it's not a big deal, he's not there, and now
- 27:23Speaker 5: like being around it a little more. I'm like, I
- 27:25Speaker 5: like the quarterback being here in this Oh I got
- 27:27Speaker 5: it wasn't.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Like, you know, twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen, Brady
- 27:32Speaker 3: isn't here. They went to a super Bowl, they won
- 27:35Speaker 3: a super Bowl, and they made the playoffs. It wasn't
- 27:37Speaker 3: a big deal, but it was just like little it
- 27:41Speaker 3: was significant.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Again, don't mistake having success because the guy was so
- 27:48Speaker 2: good with it being irrelevant.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Well that's but that's why I'm saying it didn't matter
- 27:52Speaker 3: because he was so good and my problem whether it
- 27:54Speaker 3: wasn't really whether or not it was going to impact
- 27:57Speaker 3: the team.
- 27:58Speaker 2: My problem was for fifteen years I was browbeaten. Oh
- 28:03Speaker 2: but this is why he's better than everybody else because
- 28:05Speaker 2: he does this and he gets the parking space, and
- 28:08Speaker 2: then he not only didn't get the parking space, he
- 28:10Speaker 2: didn't come to Foxboro at all, and it was still
- 28:13Speaker 2: the right thing to do. That's what used to bother
- 28:15Speaker 2: me because it's Tom Brady. No, because it was the Patriots.
- 28:18Speaker 2: He was so when he did that in Tampa, he
- 28:20Speaker 2: was a jerk.
- 28:22Speaker 6: Wow, he was you know, it was covid. He was breaking.
- 28:24Speaker 4: It was breaking on.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Behalf of football, I know, and again proven Heaven's point.
- 28:30Speaker 2: It was kind of like friction.
- 28:32Speaker 1: So Tom Brady, he's got his own things, but when
- 28:35Speaker 1: he was here, he was perfect.
- 28:37Speaker 6: I saw that perfect. It was like a Domino's at
- 28:39Speaker 6: and he's doing a Domino's. That was that what I saw.
- 28:40Speaker 3: Pizza something pizza. Probably it was really weird though, because
- 28:45Speaker 3: it was like some pizza chain and I was like,
- 28:48Speaker 3: there's no way he eats that pizza.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Like what about him and the catwalk with that suit.
- 28:55Speaker 1: He looks so uncomfortable, like like a bond villain.
- 28:59Speaker 4: Yeah, he could barely walk in it.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Did they just come off any of those dietary things?
- 29:05Speaker 4: Did he come off of it? Yeah?
- 29:07Speaker 2: Well, I'm not like he had a pretty regimented you know,
- 29:12Speaker 2: night shades and I'm not going to go into all
- 29:14Speaker 2: the different things, but like, do you think that he's
- 29:16Speaker 2: still very strictly follows I don't know.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I know Guerrero still would. He's still with him with
- 29:21Speaker 1: the Raiders and all that.
- 29:22Speaker 6: And he looks like it, I mean he still he
- 29:24Speaker 6: doesn't really.
- 29:26Speaker 1: It looks like he put on a little bit of
- 29:27Speaker 1: muscle weight.
- 29:28Speaker 2: But don't you think you could? I mean, you don't
- 29:31Speaker 2: have to do that diet to be in good shape.
- 29:33Speaker 3: No, No, I think there's a small percentage of him.
- 29:37Speaker 3: As crazy as this sounds, that if the right team
- 29:40Speaker 3: called him, like if there was if there was a
- 29:44Speaker 3: cold situation, any question last year where like Philip Rivers
- 29:48Speaker 3: comes off his couch to play quarterback, if the right
- 29:51Speaker 3: team called him and said, you know, in November and said,
- 29:54Speaker 3: you know.
- 29:54Speaker 1: We lost both our quarterbacks, and the league would say
- 29:57Speaker 1: okay to him being a network broadcaster, part of a
- 30:00Speaker 1: team and playing quarterback for a thirteen.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Well, the league has said no, I know about the
- 30:05Speaker 2: owner party.
- 30:06Speaker 5: Yeah, I think there's a I think he'd come in.
- 30:08Speaker 5: He'd be just a total dick to everybody. This is unacceptable,
- 30:11Speaker 5: like a five.
- 30:13Speaker 3: No, you didn't dream what happened?
- 30:15Speaker 1: Right you did?
- 30:15Speaker 3: They did say yeah, because I think he inquired.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, he looked into like coming out of retirement
- 30:22Speaker 2: this year.
- 30:23Speaker 3: Like let's say, like brock perty gets hurt and like
- 30:25Speaker 3: Kyle Shanahan calls him and says, it's your hometown team.
- 30:30Speaker 3: We have a play we have a super Bowl roster
- 30:31Speaker 3: around you. We just we need the quarterback.
- 30:34Speaker 1: Philip Rivers?
- 30:34Speaker 3: Can you give us five games in the playoffs?
- 30:37Speaker 2: Hey, Melon, we need you.
- 30:39Speaker 4: How old is Philip Rivers?
- 30:40Speaker 3: When he's old?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Right, So it's not like it can't be done.
- 30:44Speaker 3: I know that's what this is. What I'm saying.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Forty seven not as old as Brady, Right, he's old.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Rivers came in the league in all four Brady came in,
- 30:52Speaker 2: and I would say forty one.
- 30:54Speaker 6: He could do it.
- 30:57Speaker 1: All right. Uh So that's that's some of the stuff
- 31:00Speaker 1: on the table. Eight five five Pats five hundred is
- 31:03Speaker 1: the Hotline podcast at Patriots dot Com. Is the email address,
- 31:07Speaker 1: any other NFL stuff that we need to talk about.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Rivers is forty four, but he's an old forty The
- 31:14Speaker 1: rivers have tides.
- 31:15Speaker 6: He's kids.
- 31:17Speaker 3: He's seeing the seeing the beer gut on it like an.
- 31:22Speaker 6: He's gonna get like the big flat jacket, let it
- 31:24Speaker 6: out a little bit.
- 31:25Speaker 2: He was a little billy Billy Kilner Sonny Jurgensen.
- 31:28Speaker 3: Yeah, like Brady would come out and look exactly the
- 31:30Speaker 3: same like he would.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Yeah, any other NFL things, we need to discuss that
- 31:36Speaker 1: stuff around the league. No anything this weekend. This is uh,
- 31:40Speaker 1: kind of a.
- 31:41Speaker 5: Little bit of a dead period before the OTA is
- 31:43Speaker 5: and then Mini camp and then that'll be like the
- 31:45Speaker 5: real dead period.
- 31:46Speaker 2: But that's sort of and I think we did talk
- 31:49Speaker 2: about this a little bit, but league wide, I am
- 31:52Speaker 2: sort of fascinated by the whole Cleveland situation with Deshaun
- 31:55Speaker 2: Watson just because he's played so little football for them
- 31:59Speaker 2: with that ridiculous contract. That's killed them, you know, and
- 32:04Speaker 2: it just let me be I want to be you
- 32:08Speaker 2: know clear, it's killed them because he's stunk as their quarterback,
- 32:13Speaker 2: not because of the money. It killed him because he's
- 32:15Speaker 2: been I want to say out of like two hundred
- 32:18Speaker 2: eligible passers. He's been number two hundred, you know, in
- 32:22Speaker 2: terms of all of the numbers that Evan talks about
- 32:25Speaker 2: all the time.
- 32:25Speaker 3: And also not a great guy.
- 32:28Speaker 2: And he's played something like nineteen games like in four years.
- 32:34Speaker 2: That's what's killed them, you know, tearing the Achilles twice.
- 32:37Speaker 2: But it looks like he's going to get every opportunity
- 32:39Speaker 2: with Todd Munkin to be the Brown starter this year.
- 32:44Speaker 2: I'm sort of fascinated by that.
- 32:45Speaker 3: I'm fascinated by the whole Todd Monkin thing, like that's
- 32:49Speaker 3: going one of two ways and there's no in between,
- 32:51Speaker 3: Like he's either going to be great or it's going
- 32:53Speaker 3: to be awful in the train wreck because he's some
- 32:55Speaker 3: of his press conferences are actually kind of funny, like
- 32:58Speaker 3: he's just so matter of fact like and he just
- 33:02Speaker 3: you know, somebody asked him the other day if he's
- 33:04Speaker 3: ever met Miles Garrett, and he said, no, he is not.
- 33:07Speaker 3: The head coach of the team, has not met.
- 33:10Speaker 2: His best player, maybe the best player.
- 33:11Speaker 3: In franchise history not named Jim Brown. He's never met him.
- 33:15Speaker 3: He's never met him in person. Like that. That blew
- 33:19Speaker 3: my mind, and it was so funny. The guy was like,
- 33:22Speaker 3: have you met Gary yet? And he's like Miles and
- 33:24Speaker 3: the guy was like yeah, He's.
- 33:25Speaker 2: Like no, I was like, that is funny. I didn't
- 33:28Speaker 2: see that.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Really, So this is that's going one of two ways.
- 33:34Speaker 2: So don't you find like sort of like an eerie
- 33:36Speaker 2: kind of fascination with the whole Like I didn't even
- 33:39Speaker 2: know that that adds another whole layer. Yeah, the whole
- 33:41Speaker 2: thing because they know what Sanders or Deshaun Watson because they've.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Drafted like kind of well, I would say the last
- 33:49Speaker 3: last year. Yeah, I mean, you know, not a really
- 33:52Speaker 3: great positions like of value like defensive tackle, running.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Back, but good.
- 33:59Speaker 3: They hit on all the picks they did and a
- 34:01Speaker 3: lot of people really liked what they did this year
- 34:04Speaker 3: in the draft. So they have some young talent on
- 34:07Speaker 3: that team, but it still feels very Cleveland. Kind of
- 34:10Speaker 3: the same way with the Jets, Like I think the Jets.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I'm mildly intrigued about the Jets too, but I don't
- 34:15Speaker 2: have any illusions like like Gino Smith is going to
- 34:18Speaker 2: be their quarterback and you know it is what it is, right,
- 34:21Speaker 2: but both trouble with them last year.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Ball teams that kind of have the rest of the
- 34:26Speaker 3: roster that has some potential, but the quarterback position in
- 34:30Speaker 3: the head coach and the whole operation is a big
- 34:35Speaker 3: question mark.
- 34:36Speaker 1: So who knows, uh, william writes, And on the subject
- 34:40Speaker 1: of trading away Kashawan Booty, would it be a big
- 34:42Speaker 1: difference to trade mccollins in his role as as opposed
- 34:45Speaker 1: to Booty. I just believe they're both great pieces on
- 34:48Speaker 1: the team. However, I feel Booty has better chemistry with
- 34:51Speaker 1: may No.
- 34:53Speaker 5: I mean, I think mccollins has more use for Josh McDaniels,
- 34:57Speaker 5: you know, blocking all that stuff. I mean, like we
- 35:00Speaker 5: talked about Booty. You can line them up, you can
- 35:02Speaker 5: run down the field. He's got great hands. But you know,
- 35:04Speaker 5: I think that's one of those things where you'd rite
- 35:06Speaker 5: like it is weird to say.
- 35:07Speaker 1: If if aj Brown wasn't reportedly coming here, I would
- 35:14Speaker 1: be dead set against getting rid of Booty.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 35:17Speaker 1: I think that he has unique skills on this team
- 35:19Speaker 1: that no one else has shown that they have at
- 35:22Speaker 1: this point, which is getting down the field and making
- 35:24Speaker 1: tough catches. Yeah, you know, and uh, you know, and
- 35:29Speaker 1: I think he's good at it. So I would be
- 35:31Speaker 1: dead set against getting rid of him if the prospect
- 35:34Speaker 1: of getting a J.
- 35:35Speaker 4: Brown wasn't on the horizon.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, but you know, if AJ Brown doesn't
- 35:38Speaker 5: happen next week, like does that now ya? You have
- 35:44Speaker 5: to you have to start and re engaging. I don't
- 35:48Speaker 5: even know where it stands, so, but I agree with you.
- 35:50Speaker 6: They don't, you know.
- 35:51Speaker 5: I mean, the people have been talking about what do
- 35:53Speaker 5: they do if they don't get AJ Brown? Like who
- 35:54Speaker 5: else could they possibly trade for?
- 35:56Speaker 4: I don't even know where to start with Downland yep,
- 35:59Speaker 4: j his petit? Who says?
- 36:00Speaker 1: Could it be we've had such mediocrity at receiver that
- 36:03Speaker 1: players think they're better than they are. I always thought
- 36:05Speaker 1: Booty a complimentary rotation receiver in a good wide receiver
- 36:09Speaker 1: room who could step up more if a starter is injured.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Is Booty really a starter on most NFL teams?
- 36:16Speaker 3: I agree with that email, and I think that that's
- 36:18Speaker 3: something that they have been good about, is not overrating
- 36:24Speaker 3: their own players. And I think the Fans tend to
- 36:28Speaker 3: do this with Kaishan Boodid a little bit too, where
- 36:31Speaker 3: they've struck out on so many wide receivers in the
- 36:34Speaker 3: draft that any semblance of a hit like Kaishan Boody
- 36:38Speaker 3: is looked at as maybe worth a little bit more
- 36:41Speaker 3: than what he's actually produced, Like he has had back
- 36:44Speaker 3: to back years where he's had five hundred yards. It's
- 36:47Speaker 3: not this isn't like Randy Moss right where he's going
- 36:51Speaker 3: for fifteen hundred yards. So I just I would be
- 36:55Speaker 3: weary with Kaishan Booty in long term regard too, because
- 37:00Speaker 3: I think he's a fine player. I think you can
- 37:02Speaker 3: do better and I think they should be striving to
- 37:04Speaker 3: do better than players like that. So whether that's the
- 37:08Speaker 3: Aj Brown thing, whether that's you know, Kishon Boody for
- 37:12Speaker 3: another year and then the draft next year becomes a
- 37:14Speaker 3: priority to get, you know, one of those true outside
- 37:18Speaker 3: difference makers at receiver, whatever the case may be. But
- 37:22Speaker 3: I think you can upgrade that spot. And I think
- 37:25Speaker 3: that that's how they need to be thinking, and how
- 37:27Speaker 3: they've thought frankly all over the team, Like they haven't
- 37:30Speaker 3: really been complacent anywhere on the roster to there, which
- 37:34Speaker 3: I think is a positive thing.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Andrew from Eastern Europe right sant a little listener on
- 37:40Speaker 1: listener Crime. We always love that we all love to
- 37:43Speaker 1: bash on Christian in La but others but one one
- 37:47Speaker 1: call of that and others, but one call that always
- 37:50Speaker 1: avoids criticism, although I cannot stand him, is Eldred. I
- 37:56Speaker 1: know he's a long time listening to you guys like him,
- 37:58Speaker 1: but for me, he's unbearable. His calls are either one
- 38:01Speaker 1: repeating the same point he made in every single call
- 38:03Speaker 1: he made in the last month. Two bragging how he's
- 38:06Speaker 1: always right about wide receivers and everyone else is wrong.
- 38:09Speaker 1: I remember him being high on Hakim zero career NFL
- 38:12Speaker 1: receptions butler, but he doesn't brag about that. Three asking
- 38:16Speaker 1: if the most outrageous rumor of all time is true,
- 38:19Speaker 1: and when you ask him where he saw it or
- 38:21Speaker 1: heard it, he said, oh, I think I saw someone
- 38:23Speaker 1: on Facebook say that, and they heard their brother in
- 38:26Speaker 1: law listen to a podcast with ten followers and they
- 38:28Speaker 1: said it.
- 38:29Speaker 4: I know you guys like him, but.
- 38:30Speaker 1: His calls are much worse than the callers that usually
- 38:33Speaker 1: get so much hate. They are such a waste of time.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Well, you know, I would just argue that I think
- 38:40Speaker 2: we give Elder a lot of static on his calls,
- 38:45Speaker 2: like we tease him about his wide receiver love all
- 38:47Speaker 2: the time. Yeah, we do like him, but I think
- 38:53Speaker 2: he gets as much criticism for his cause as anybody else.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I don't think we treat him with kid gloves. Sure
- 38:59Speaker 2: so we do. We analyze the calls when we agree
- 39:02Speaker 2: with the take or when we think that it's a
- 39:04Speaker 2: well thought out you know, whether you agree with it
- 39:06Speaker 2: or not, we say so.
- 39:07Speaker 1: Alex and fall River love the new setup of the
- 39:10Speaker 1: podcast on the iPhone. The bookmarks in order to skip
- 39:14Speaker 1: some reads slash press conferences are so useful and seamless.
- 39:17Speaker 1: My question is there a way to add an additional
- 39:20Speaker 1: bookmark for when Todd calls in? It would help me
- 39:23Speaker 1: from falling asleep at work while he rewords a topic
- 39:26Speaker 1: you guys discussed fifteen minutes earlier and read it. It's
- 39:29Speaker 1: the exact same point. So another more listener and listener.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Basically, all the listeners hate all of the other listeners.
- 39:36Speaker 4: That's okay.
- 39:38Speaker 1: And speaking of Christian in la Is on the phone,
- 39:41Speaker 1: what's up Christian?
- 39:43Speaker 10: Absolutely, you guys, I don't actually hate any listener. I've never,
- 39:48Speaker 10: you know, talked crap by any other list I think
- 39:50Speaker 10: the guys have fun. I think they do what they do.
- 39:52Speaker 10: I think they add to the show. And yes, sometimes
- 39:55Speaker 10: you don't like what they have to say or what
- 39:57Speaker 10: you know their opinion is. But I think that adds
- 39:59Speaker 10: to it. If everybody called in with one or two points,
- 40:01Speaker 10: and if everybody was, it would be a boring, a
- 40:03Speaker 10: more boring show. So that with that said, I am
- 40:06Speaker 10: defending my man Eldrids and his love of one type
- 40:10Speaker 10: of receiver with one type of route. With that said, though, guys, uh,
- 40:15Speaker 10: this Kayshon booty thing does put a craw, you know,
- 40:18Speaker 10: stuck in my craw because I don't like this part
- 40:21Speaker 10: of the NFL part, the part where yes, it is business,
- 40:26Speaker 10: but these are actually grown men and people trying their
- 40:29Speaker 10: their best right. Kayshan Boudi came in under the the uh,
- 40:33Speaker 10: under the gun. He was supposed to be the next
- 40:35Speaker 10: great thing in LSU. He had an unfortunate injury. He's
- 40:38Speaker 10: been fighting uphill every since and actually winning that battle.
- 40:43Speaker 10: And so I don't see how how it's right or proper.
- 40:46Speaker 10: And I hate when teams getting attitude and a guy
- 40:49Speaker 10: like that but not coming into OCAs. And I agree
- 40:52Speaker 10: with Paul, like you told him two years in a row,
- 40:55Speaker 10: you really don't want him what you think he's expendable.
- 40:57Speaker 10: You're on your radio talk shows saying, well, you know,
- 40:59Speaker 10: he's whatever, but compare him to his role with any
- 41:02Speaker 10: other team in the league last year, and he was
- 41:04Speaker 10: right up there in the top mid So I don't
- 41:07Speaker 10: want to hear that this kid that's been trying his
- 41:09Speaker 10: best and batting up and making progress is like this
- 41:12Speaker 10: suspendable piece for AJ Brown, who you guys know at
- 41:14Speaker 10: most is going to be here two years and so
- 41:17Speaker 10: why not keep this kid who can develop even more
- 41:20Speaker 10: and learn a few things from AJ Brown who is
- 41:22Speaker 10: oh off injured as well, and make him feel like
- 41:27Speaker 10: we at New England reward you for putting in the work,
- 41:30Speaker 10: putting in the time, staying with us, even though everybody
- 41:33Speaker 10: around you, even us, says you're not really valuable and
- 41:35Speaker 10: worth it. It just upsets me, man, it upsets me.
- 41:38Speaker 10: I don't know, how do you guys really feel about
- 41:40Speaker 10: that part of this, this this part of football.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Yeah, we'll talk about that, Christian, And I want to
- 41:46Speaker 1: read this other email because this other email kind of
- 41:48Speaker 1: agrees with you, and then I want to get into it.
- 41:50Speaker 1: David Maine says, it's strange to me that there's so
- 41:52Speaker 1: much talk about trading Booty even if we acquire AJ Brown,
- 41:55Speaker 1: the team is always saying that they want to be
- 41:57Speaker 1: a drafts and developed team. Will you finally draft to
- 42:00Speaker 1: the wide receiver that has developed and has gotten better
- 42:03Speaker 1: every year? Isn't he really young too? As allergic as
- 42:06Speaker 1: this team is to drafting good wide receivers, I think
- 42:09Speaker 1: they need to hold on to him long enough to
- 42:11Speaker 1: see if he has improved this year. It's going to
- 42:13Speaker 1: make me sick to watch him ball out in Kansas City?
- 42:16Speaker 4: What do you guys think?
- 42:17Speaker 8: So?
- 42:18Speaker 1: I kind of understand that, But if the whole thing
- 42:23Speaker 1: with AJ Brown is true, is that telling us that
- 42:27Speaker 1: they think that they're really close? I know they went
- 42:29Speaker 1: to the Super Bowl last year, but you know, but
- 42:32Speaker 1: do they really think that now's the time to strike?
- 42:35Speaker 1: And yes, it would be great to develop Booty, but
- 42:38Speaker 1: we can get AJ Brown right now. Drake May's still
- 42:42Speaker 1: on his rookie contract. You know, we got to strike
- 42:47Speaker 1: right now because we are close roster wise to getting back.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Are they saying that kind of if AJ Brown comes here?
- 42:56Speaker 5: I mean I think a little bit. It's just I
- 42:57Speaker 5: think goes back to what Evan said. It's hard choices,
- 42:59Speaker 5: and you have to say, if we did keep Booty
- 43:02Speaker 5: around with Brown, is he going to continue to improve
- 43:05Speaker 5: in the same trajectory if he's not really playing as
- 43:07Speaker 5: much as he's seeing his playtime kind of cut. There's
- 43:10Speaker 5: a lot of things to balance, but I would say
- 43:12Speaker 5: generally your point, yes, I think that's simply what's best
- 43:15Speaker 5: for the team. Maybe it just boils down, is Aj
- 43:17Speaker 5: Brown can be the better piece for this team this
- 43:20Speaker 5: year than Kaishan BOUDI, yes, it is, And it's hard
- 43:22Speaker 5: to see both against.
- 43:23Speaker 2: It's what makes it hard, okay, because we can all
- 43:26Speaker 2: sit here and we can second guess the moves after
- 43:28Speaker 2: they happen, and we can look at the stats. And
- 43:30Speaker 2: as Christian said, it would kill him if he went
- 43:32Speaker 2: to Kansas City and all of a sudden balled out.
- 43:35Speaker 2: But these guys are paid to know these things. And
- 43:42Speaker 2: so he made one comment, and I agree with a
- 43:44Speaker 2: lot of what Christian said. So I'm not necessarily picking
- 43:46Speaker 2: apart the call like I normally do with Christian. But
- 43:50Speaker 2: he was like, there aren't many guys in the league
- 43:53Speaker 2: that did better with his role last year. Well, what
- 43:55Speaker 2: do you think his role was last year with the Patriots?
- 43:58Speaker 2: Because I would say he was a starting for them,
- 44:00Speaker 2: And I can give you countless receivers around the league
- 44:02Speaker 2: that did better, you know, like, was T Higgins not
- 44:05Speaker 2: a better second banana in Cincinnati? I mean, that's obviously
- 44:10Speaker 2: an exaggerated example as one of the I mean T
- 44:12Speaker 2: Higgins is arguably a Number one caliber receiver who just
- 44:15Speaker 2: happens to play on the same team as Jamar Chase.
- 44:18Speaker 2: But there's a lot of starting receivers in the league
- 44:21Speaker 2: that did a lot more than Kaishan Boody did last year, right.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I mean, this is sort of my point, and I
- 44:26Speaker 3: feel like I come across as like bashing Kaishan Boody ye,
- 44:30Speaker 3: And I'm not doing that, no, But like the guy had.
- 44:32Speaker 3: The guy had forty catches last year for five hundred yards.
- 44:36Speaker 2: I read at his stats a couple of weeks ago,
- 44:39Speaker 2: and it was stunning how similar his numbers were to
- 44:41Speaker 2: Mario Douglas, who was a disaster according to a lot
- 44:45Speaker 2: of Patriots fans. Right, he just didn't He never turned
- 44:48Speaker 2: into that volume slot guy that we all expected. They
- 44:51Speaker 2: had roughly the same amount of targets and catches. Now,
- 44:54Speaker 2: I would argue one hundred times over Booty over Douglas
- 44:59Speaker 2: in that Booty made a lot more big plays than
- 45:03Speaker 2: Douglas did, the touchdowns, the deep balls, the tough catches.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Booty gets the check mark in all of those categories.
- 45:10Speaker 2: So again, like Evan said, I'm not telling you this
- 45:13Speaker 2: is an anti Booty rant. I'm just saying, let's call
- 45:16Speaker 2: Booty what he is. I think that they're looking to
- 45:18Speaker 2: get AJ Brown here. They're not looking to add some
- 45:22Speaker 2: stiff who's never had any success in the league. He's
- 45:25Speaker 2: going to be twenty nine at the end of the
- 45:26Speaker 2: month at the end of June. Sorry, AJ Brown. They
- 45:30Speaker 2: think he's a lot better than Kisehon Boody. They're trying
- 45:33Speaker 2: to upgrade the position. I think it's as simple as
- 45:35Speaker 2: that is Booty saying use me more. I think I
- 45:40Speaker 2: think that's what Booty would like.
- 45:41Speaker 3: Well, because he wants to get paid. I would assume
- 45:44Speaker 3: like he's going into the fourth year of his contract,
- 45:46Speaker 3: so he's on a rookie deal right now. That would
- 45:49Speaker 3: just be my thing with what Christian is like. So
- 45:53Speaker 3: you're going to pay him, and so you're gonna trade
- 45:56Speaker 3: for a J. Brown, You're going to sign Romeo Dobbs
- 45:58Speaker 3: in free agency, and you're gonna give Kaisehon Booty his
- 46:01Speaker 3: whatever he wants in a contract too, And I just
- 46:05Speaker 3: that that's what the situation that we're kind of not
- 46:08Speaker 3: talking about is where he is in his contract. Like
- 46:11Speaker 3: if he was like a second year player and was
- 46:13Speaker 3: still on his rookie contract and you wanted to hang
- 46:15Speaker 3: on to him like we're talking about with Kyle Williams,
- 46:18Speaker 3: then that's a different story. But Kijon Boody's gonna have
- 46:21Speaker 3: to get paid at the end of the year, So he's.
- 46:24Speaker 2: Not gonna get paid here, Like, he's not gonna get
- 46:27Speaker 2: paid I with you.
- 46:28Speaker 3: Right, So it's just that's the part that it's not
- 46:31Speaker 3: about giving up on him. It's just a trying to
- 46:34Speaker 3: upgrade it. But be like looking at him as an asset,
- 46:38Speaker 3: like is that really the best allocation of resources to
- 46:41Speaker 3: now give him a second contract. I think he's overperformed
- 46:45Speaker 3: his draft slot exponentially, and he had a lot of
- 46:48Speaker 3: issues on and off the field that led to him
- 46:51Speaker 3: going in the sixth round and he's been better than
- 46:53Speaker 3: a six round pick. But keep coming back to like,
- 46:56Speaker 3: let's not overrate what he's actually done on the field,
- 46:59Speaker 3: you know, production wise. I think that that you have
- 47:03Speaker 3: to be careful with that, Like, you know, saying that
- 47:05Speaker 3: you know, he's outperformed a bunch of receivers, Like come on,
- 47:09Speaker 3: like seriously, like where if you added all thirty two
- 47:13Speaker 3: X receivers in the league, where does Kasehan Boody realistically
- 47:16Speaker 3: rank on that list?
- 47:17Speaker 1: You know?
- 47:18Speaker 3: And again, I'm not trying to kill the guy.
- 47:20Speaker 1: It's just.
- 47:22Speaker 5: All his practices in his games, and I don't feel
- 47:24Speaker 5: like there's a lot of plays left on the field
- 47:26Speaker 5: with him.
- 47:26Speaker 6: It doesn't feel like he's just scratching the surface.
- 47:29Speaker 1: He does what he does. I think it's it's unfair
- 47:33Speaker 1: to judge Booty by the numbers. I think I think
- 47:38Speaker 1: I judge him by my eyeball, like the ability that
- 47:41Speaker 1: I see when they do use him, And I think
- 47:44Speaker 1: there's a case to be made that maybe they should
- 47:46Speaker 1: use him more if he were to stay and and
- 47:51Speaker 1: and maybe there is some untapped potential there that is
- 47:54Speaker 1: even more than what I.
- 47:55Speaker 3: Don't think they're not using him more because they just
- 47:59Speaker 3: decided this is his role and where kind of if
- 48:02Speaker 3: he was getting open and he was demanding targets, then
- 48:05Speaker 3: he'd be getting the ball. Momore like this hasn't been
- 48:08Speaker 3: a situation the last couple of years where they've been
- 48:10Speaker 3: so loaded at wide receiver that he's just kind of
- 48:12Speaker 3: pigeonholed into like a low volume role like Drake May's
- 48:16Speaker 3: rookie year. If Kaishan booty was open all the time,
- 48:18Speaker 3: he would have been getting fuled.
- 48:19Speaker 4: I think he's improved.
- 48:20Speaker 1: I yeah, I think, but I think he's improved since
- 48:23Speaker 1: you know Drake May's.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Rooky So but this gets back to my original point.
- 48:26Speaker 2: This is why it's hard. Fred and Mike see untapped
- 48:32Speaker 2: potential and further room to grow. Paul and Evan kind
- 48:36Speaker 2: of looked at it as this guy has really done
- 48:38Speaker 2: a great job of maximizing his ability, and he's done
- 48:41Speaker 2: a nice job of taking advantage of his opportunities. Okay,
- 48:45Speaker 2: it's Elliott wolfing Company's job to determine which one is
- 48:49Speaker 2: right right, and that's what makes it hard. If he
- 48:53Speaker 2: goes somewhere and he catches ninety balls for thirteen hundred yards,
- 48:56Speaker 2: Paul and Evan are going to look bad. But we
- 48:58Speaker 2: don't lose anything because we're just sitting behind a microphone.
- 49:04Speaker 2: If you go somewhere and continues to catch phty balls
- 49:08Speaker 2: and be a five hundred yard receiver, then Elliott Wolf
- 49:12Speaker 2: looks vindicated, Like, yeah, that's what makes it but that's
- 49:16Speaker 2: what makes it hard. There's no one that knows that right.
- 49:18Speaker 1: And for a long time on bills teams guys would
- 49:21Speaker 1: leave would never do much, you know, like they never
- 49:24Speaker 1: lost guys that went on to like make them regret it.
- 49:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that he's also just done a great
- 49:32Speaker 3: job of reinventing himself because he doesn't have the explosiveness
- 49:35Speaker 3: that he had in college before he got hurt in
- 49:38Speaker 3: college and he came back and now he's turned into
- 49:41Speaker 3: like a can contested catch monster. Like his contested catch
- 49:44Speaker 3: rates at his volume are off the charts.
- 49:47Speaker 1: And in pressure situations.
- 49:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like those guys, and that might be
- 49:51Speaker 2: a personal bias to me. I think that doesn't age well.
- 49:54Speaker 4: Well.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I think the issue with it is is that there's
- 49:56Speaker 3: just not there's nothing else on that he He kind
- 49:59Speaker 3: of brings one thing to the table, and like to
- 50:02Speaker 3: add volume to his role, you need him to expand
- 50:05Speaker 3: what he can do in the routes that he can run,
- 50:08Speaker 3: in the ways he can get open, in the spots
- 50:10Speaker 3: he can play in the offense, and all that kind
- 50:12Speaker 3: of stuff. And I don't know if that exists within
- 50:16Speaker 3: his skill set anymore.
- 50:17Speaker 1: But I think he's aided by the quarterback too.
- 50:19Speaker 5: I mean, if the quarterback does well what he does
- 50:21Speaker 5: well in the accuracy downfield, keisham bout.
- 50:24Speaker 6: He's got great hands, you know. I think Drake has
- 50:26Speaker 6: been a good match for him.
- 50:27Speaker 5: Does it look the same if he goes to a
- 50:29Speaker 5: quarterback that doesn't quite have that accuracy?
- 50:32Speaker 3: Yeah. I mean when you look at volume guys like
- 50:34Speaker 3: Diggs last year, you know, it's inside, it's outside, it's
- 50:37Speaker 3: all three levels of the defense. Like that's where the
- 50:39Speaker 3: volume starts to add up. When all you can do
- 50:42Speaker 3: is go down the sideline and catch a contested throw
- 50:44Speaker 3: on Derek Stingley, that's really hard to do.
- 50:47Speaker 2: See.
- 50:47Speaker 1: I don't think that's all he can do. But that's okay,
- 50:50Speaker 1: what else can you do? I think there's more to
- 50:52Speaker 1: be seen. I think that that guy that could have
- 50:56Speaker 1: been a first round pick in LSU has more to prove.
- 51:01Speaker 2: I just think it's hard to expect that. In year four,
- 51:04Speaker 2: I think he kind of established what you are.
- 51:06Speaker 1: I think he had some issues that he had to
- 51:08Speaker 1: get over with, and I think that he was on
- 51:11Speaker 1: the up.
- 51:11Speaker 4: But we'll see.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean him, and he himself has admitted that
- 51:15Speaker 3: his freshman year of LSU, that version of himself as
- 51:19Speaker 3: an athlete, it doesn't exist anymore. And he's talked about
- 51:24Speaker 3: needing to reinvent himself basically as a catchpoint guy, as
- 51:27Speaker 3: a guy that uses his strength in his hands and
- 51:30Speaker 3: his ball tracking and to win space and win the
- 51:33Speaker 3: ball in the air, because you know, back at LSU
- 51:36Speaker 3: when he first started there, like he was explosive, like
- 51:41Speaker 3: you know, Odell Beckham level explosiveness, and that ankle injury
- 51:45Speaker 3: that he had that didn't heal right and had to
- 51:48Speaker 3: have a second procedure on and so on and so forth.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Like he just he hasn't really been the same guy since,
- 51:53Speaker 3: and to his credit, he's made it work. Yeah, Like
- 51:56Speaker 3: this really isn't who he is and he was.
- 51:58Speaker 2: And he's with you, Fred obviously about himself because he
- 52:01Speaker 2: wants to go somewhere where he's going to get seventy
- 52:03Speaker 2: five catches and then be able to put himself in
- 52:05Speaker 2: a position to sign a real free agent contract at
- 52:08Speaker 2: the bag.
- 52:08Speaker 3: That would be my concern of keeping him here.
- 52:11Speaker 2: Because he's not going to get that opportunity if AJ
- 52:14Speaker 2: Brown is here, it would be great depth to also
- 52:17Speaker 2: have Kaishan Boodi here, But he's on the last year
- 52:20Speaker 2: of his rookie contract and he wants to set himself
- 52:22Speaker 2: up for another contract, and how does that doesn't square?
- 52:26Speaker 2: But you could even argue if aj Brown doesn't come,
- 52:30Speaker 2: Dobbs takes over the digs role and what's changed for
- 52:32Speaker 2: Booty from last year?
- 52:33Speaker 4: Right?
- 52:34Speaker 2: Probably not much? So maybe he gets ten more catches. Again,
- 52:38Speaker 2: I think he's looking for more than that, so he
- 52:40Speaker 2: can get himself in a position where he can cash in,
- 52:43Speaker 2: you know, kind of like Jacoby Myers, you know, and
- 52:46Speaker 2: not the same kind of player, but just Jacoby Myers
- 52:49Speaker 2: went elsewhere and Star's production really skyrocket, you know, And
- 52:53Speaker 2: I think he probably looks at it. If I was
- 52:56Speaker 2: in some other system, maybe I would get more volume.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Is on the line to defend his honor. What's up, eld.
- 53:04Speaker 7: Hey fellas, how y'all doing World Original podcast?
- 53:08Speaker 11: Hey?
- 53:08Speaker 7: You know what, I don't mind the hate. Like I
- 53:11Speaker 7: told Alex, I'm ex military. If I was close, I
- 53:14Speaker 7: come and get your ass. But other than that, you know,
- 53:19Speaker 7: I always say, I give you my sources if I
- 53:21Speaker 7: remember most of the names that I do, like those
- 53:24Speaker 7: podcasts and I don't always frombout one receiver to do
- 53:26Speaker 7: one during thing. But all the receivers I was talking about,
- 53:29Speaker 7: they did multiple. But in t mac well, he got
- 53:32Speaker 7: player Rookie of the Year. I won him last year.
- 53:35Speaker 7: We didn't get him right, so now they got braveled.
- 53:38Speaker 7: So watch what happened there. But other than that, A J. Brown,
- 53:43Speaker 7: I kind of agree with everybody else. If we get him, fine,
- 53:48Speaker 7: but I don't count a done deal till June first.
- 53:51Speaker 7: The reason why is a fascination another podcast. If you're
- 53:56Speaker 7: hear them, I hurt them this morning. It's really just
- 53:59Speaker 7: a handshake deal like we had with Milton Williams and
- 54:02Speaker 7: the Panthers next thing that we shipped in and we
- 54:05Speaker 7: got him pay more money. We got him instead of
- 54:08Speaker 7: the Panthers gout getting him. That can happen here. You
- 54:10Speaker 7: know you won't miss faith. He just got a better
- 54:14Speaker 7: deal and a better player for your team.
- 54:15Speaker 4: Yep.
- 54:16Speaker 7: So until you get here, I agree. If not, Mike BTJ,
- 54:22Speaker 7: pray for him. I give him a first for that
- 54:23Speaker 7: twenty five year old, I think you would I like
- 54:26Speaker 7: him wide receiver. I would do that.
- 54:28Speaker 2: But that's the one Thomas.
- 54:30Speaker 7: But other than that, you know, I don't. I ain't
- 54:33Speaker 7: count a J and AJ gets here. That's all I'm saying.
- 54:36Speaker 1: I hear that, all right, thanks Aldred. It's like Eldred,
- 54:41Speaker 1: its just wrong. I don't care.
- 54:43Speaker 4: You know, he doesn't care, honey badger.
- 54:45Speaker 2: Yeah care, he don't care, honey badger.
- 54:47Speaker 1: Stephen Marblehead was watching Forge in Foxborough and he said, uh,
- 54:53Speaker 1: you see the fascinating role Nancy Meyer has had on
- 54:56Speaker 1: the longest tenure as a longest tenured Patris employees. You
- 54:59Speaker 1: must have great story from the days of the Sullivans
- 55:01Speaker 1: through the dynasties. She might even remember a young Fred
- 55:04Speaker 1: and Paul. I think it would be really interesting to
- 55:06Speaker 1: interview her for Unfiltered here. I believe she exits in
- 55:11Speaker 1: a week. Can you effort this well? If Stretch is
- 55:13Speaker 1: listening or anyone else, Yeah, we should get Nancy because
- 55:16Speaker 1: I know for a fact she has some really good
- 55:20Speaker 1: Sullivan stories, Buckle Kilroy stories, every Raymond Berry like, she's
- 55:25Speaker 1: got some great stories fifty one years. I mean, it's
- 55:29Speaker 1: so maybe we should try to get her on the show.
- 55:31Speaker 4: It'd be great.
- 55:32Speaker 6: She's great. I had her and I talked to her
- 55:33Speaker 6: for the eighty five podcast.
- 55:35Speaker 5: I did, like you said, I mean her and Tip right,
- 55:38Speaker 5: they've been every single super Bowl.
- 55:40Speaker 1: I mean she she.
- 55:41Speaker 5: Has a point of view on this franchise that very
- 55:45Speaker 5: few people do, and she's at delight. My one of
- 55:47Speaker 5: my favorite moments was when me and Paul got a
- 55:49Speaker 5: picture with her at the super Bowl after party. We
- 55:51Speaker 5: were like, you know, we don't know exactly when the
- 55:53Speaker 5: say goodbye was because we knew it was like this
- 55:55Speaker 5: is all kind of the end, and it felt kind
- 55:56Speaker 5: of like a good moment to grab her.
- 55:58Speaker 1: But she's just what a what a sweet, sweet person
- 56:00Speaker 1: she is? Yep, yeah, so yeah, if anyone's listening, that
- 56:05Speaker 1: did help us.
- 56:06Speaker 6: I mean, no two hours talking, I mean yeah, she's just.
- 56:10Speaker 3: To get a one clap from Rabel, Like is there
- 56:13Speaker 3: any better higher compliment from Mike Rabel than a room
- 56:17Speaker 3: full of people getting a one clap? I like that moment.
- 56:20Speaker 3: That was cool.
- 56:21Speaker 4: Yep, good stuff.
- 56:23Speaker 1: Uh, Pascal and Harlem writes in another Drake May nickname, Really,
- 56:29Speaker 1: he says, unfortunately, yes, Really. The thing is, I'm watching
- 56:33Speaker 1: this YouTube video fifty one minutes of Drake May highlights,
- 56:36Speaker 1: and Drake is like Houdini. Man, he sneaks out of
- 56:40Speaker 1: graphs of would be tacklers. He disappears out of collapse pockets.
- 56:44Speaker 1: He bends the ball around the backs of defenders. He
- 56:46Speaker 1: makes the ball appear in the hands of receivers downfield.
- 56:49Speaker 1: He's a magician. I'm still Team d d MM, but
- 56:54Speaker 1: Drake Houdinie May could be the thing for me. Eh,
- 56:58Speaker 1: magician Hodini. I don't know.
- 57:02Speaker 3: I don't know, dog, Yeah, I like, I don't feel
- 57:04Speaker 3: like Russell Wilson is always the guy that comes to mind,
- 57:07Speaker 3: is like a quarterback that like had highs in the
- 57:09Speaker 3: back of his head and would just kind of scramble
- 57:11Speaker 3: around and avoid sacks. Like I feel like Drake goes
- 57:14Speaker 3: through the middle of the pocket a lot more than
- 57:16Speaker 3: he like dances out of pressure, you know, like he's
- 57:19Speaker 3: usually like.
- 57:22Speaker 1: That.
- 57:22Speaker 3: It's not magic, it's just not like I don't think
- 57:25Speaker 3: of him as this like this like escape artists, you know,
- 57:29Speaker 3: Like I think of him as more like this pocket's.
- 57:32Speaker 6: Call you done this stuff, I'm running now and I'm.
- 57:34Speaker 3: Out, you know which I love.
- 57:36Speaker 1: But it's Drake Drake May May.
- 57:39Speaker 3: It organically became that, and you know.
- 57:41Speaker 5: He doesn't need a nickname. Who knows what name this is?
- 57:44Speaker 5: What direction the season will take this year. I mean
- 57:46Speaker 5: that's what something haven'ts talked a lot about, like, you know,
- 57:48Speaker 5: just the good vibes they had last year?
- 57:50Speaker 6: What are the vibes.
- 57:53Speaker 9: You know?
- 57:54Speaker 1: You know last year was we all we got, we
- 57:56Speaker 1: all we need.
- 57:57Speaker 3: I think that this team might be more locked in
- 58:00Speaker 3: is not the right word, because I'm sure they were
- 58:02Speaker 3: very locked in last year, but like maybe a little
- 58:04Speaker 3: bit more like business all yeah, like business like, because
- 58:09Speaker 3: I think last year was like this like joy ride
- 58:12Speaker 3: of like oh my god, we're good and we're and
- 58:14Speaker 3: were and where we just won ten games in a
- 58:16Speaker 3: row and we're rolling. This year, it's like, now you
- 58:19Speaker 3: gotta like build on what you did last year and
- 58:21Speaker 3: prove that it wasn't you know, you were in a
- 58:24Speaker 3: soft schedule and all you know, who was the.
- 58:26Speaker 1: One that's saying taking care of business? Sebastian overdriver.
- 58:32Speaker 2: Turn Sebastian Turner.
- 58:37Speaker 3: I could just see it being.
- 58:39Speaker 1: I think it's I think you're right ya Bachman Turner
- 58:42Speaker 1: over bt O cares what you know? No, I don't
- 58:48Speaker 1: have no idea what I don't.
- 58:49Speaker 2: Know what happens in that room of us over there
- 58:52Speaker 2: when I'm not that no.
- 58:53Speaker 6: I tried to do it at one time.
- 58:56Speaker 5: I got the ox in the old Holy Cross hockey
- 58:59Speaker 5: locker room and I put on taking care of business
- 59:01Speaker 5: and somebody's like, don't put on bacon carrot biscuits.
- 59:03Speaker 1: And I could never get it. Like they were all
- 59:05Speaker 1: making fun of me for what about it.
- 59:07Speaker 5: I thought it would be common, you know Evan's thing,
- 59:08Speaker 5: like I would take care of business today, and they
- 59:10Speaker 5: were like, no, no, no, it's that people didn't find
- 59:12Speaker 5: it motivational.
- 59:13Speaker 6: They called it bacon carrot biscuits, and.
- 59:17Speaker 1: All right, Longino writes in it pays me to say this,
- 59:21Speaker 1: but I somewhat agree with mister La about the Booty situation.
- 59:25Speaker 1: But I fully disagree with keeping Booty in Brown part.
- 59:29Speaker 1: I understand that the Patriots made the mistake of swapping
- 59:32Speaker 1: Jacoby for Juju, and people are holding on to that
- 59:36Speaker 1: claim that they can't keep and develop receivers and they
- 59:41Speaker 1: give them away. But I believe we've seen Booty ceiling
- 59:44Speaker 1: and trading for Brown is instant upgrade, regardless of age.
- 59:48Speaker 1: I rather take Brown for two years than paying Booty
- 59:51Speaker 1: for another five years.
- 59:53Speaker 2: So yeah, I agreed a lot with Christian said too
- 59:56Speaker 2: for a lot of the reasons he said. But I
- 59:58Speaker 2: think that the last sentence of that email sums up.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: I feel like Evan is with me too. That kind
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: of sums it up. I don't think there's a lot
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: more there. I think Booty's done a great job of
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: maximizing you know what he's got, But I think he
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: is not going to be a volume guy in this offense.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Darius from Louisville. Darius from Louisville says, Bill kill Booty.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: In my opinion, I think if Booty gets both feet
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: down week one against Philly, then we would have it.
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: I heard Paul say he can't approve because he's in
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: year four. Well, one whole year was stripped from him
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: thanks to Bill benching him on top of the off
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: field things he had going on. Maybe he's a late
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: bloomer or developer. I don't know if developer is the
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: right word, but you know what I mean.
- 1:00:42Speaker 2: So the off field thing is valid. He wrote a
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: thing last year about his gambling situation and that could
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: not have been easy to play through. Just because you
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: don't play a lot as a rookie doesn't mean you
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: get stripped of a year of development. Like Tom Brady
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: didn't play as a rookie either. You know it happens, Like,
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: did you ever think that maybe he wasn't ready to
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: play yet in his rookie year when he came out
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: of LSU, Like, I'm all for bashing Belichick. You guys know,
- 1:01:12Speaker 2: I do it for sport. I did it when it
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: wasn't cool to do it when he was still the coach. Okay,
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: why do we just automatically assume Why do we just
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: automatically assume that that was Bill's fault?
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I mean that situation why he handled rookies who make mistakes.
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: But I used to complain about him all the time
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: for not playing young guys. He did the same thing
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: Ormandre Stevenson, right, but it just didn't really.
- 1:01:37Speaker 3: Make sense at the time because they stunk, like they
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: the record was terrible, and he still wasn't playing the
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: younger kid to see what he the kid had.
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: No.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: It was the same thing like in twenty twenty, where
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: like he would refuse to play Stidham and finish the
- 1:01:50Speaker 3: year with cam. It was like that was the only
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: thing I held against Bill. N was like once we
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: got into December and January ire and they had three wins,
- 1:01:58Speaker 3: it was like, Bill, let's just see what the kids has.
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: But I just felt like the whole.
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Two feet in bounds thing is so overblown, Like that's
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: he was like the fourth or fifth receiver on the
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: depth chart, and he didn't get his foot in bounds
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: on a play at the end of the game, Like
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: it happens. First game of his life, first NFL game.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: It wasn't even supposed to be out there. There was
- 1:02:16Speaker 3: a bunch of DeVante Parker I don't think played that day.
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: There was like there's something happened.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: There's a lot of injuries that even led to him playing.
- 1:02:22Speaker 2: Now. I made the larger point he didn't play rookies
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: enough Bill, especially at the end. He refused to play
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: young guys when they needed to develop some some more guys.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: But listen, I don't have to be right. Maybe there's
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: one hundred catch season in Kaishan Boody's future. I don't
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: see it. I don't see that kind of skill set.
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: But you know, the emailer also said, like, guys, get
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: to me. It's just he's going into last year of
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: his rookie contracts. He's gonna need to get another contract,
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: and you just drafted Kyle Williams and Kyle Williams had
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: a better rookie season than Kaishan Booty, even though it
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: wasn't a lot. I would say he flashed more than
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: Kishon Boody did. And so are you giving Kishon Boody
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: a second contract or are you giving those opportunities to
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Kyle Williams to see if he's the next Kashawan Boody
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: who had doesn't have a huge rookie year but breaks
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: out a little bit in year two and year three.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: And I will say, I'm not going to be a
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: fraud about this because I'm not necessarily the biggest Kyle
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Williams believer, Okay, But I will say when Kyle Williams
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: made his plays last year, he was open. He runs
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: by guys and gets open, or he catches our crossing
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: route underneath against Tampa Bay and takes its seventy five
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: yards down the sideline. He's not making contested catches that
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: are unbelievable catches that Booty was making, like the one
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: in the playoffs against Houston, the one and he's open,
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: like what might translate with more development, the guy who.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Gets opened and can run away from people.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: Maybe when he figures it out because clearly there seemed
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: to be some issues with Kyle Williams last year with
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: the offense and getting on. Now, Booty had a much
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: better rapport with Drake May than Kyle Wiams did. But
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: let's see what happens when Kyle Williams is entering year
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: four the way Booty is right now, and if we're
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: still talking about the same things that we talked about
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: last year, I won't say, well, it's gonna be a
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: big year four jump. It's not going to happen if
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: it hasn't happened by then.
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Logan and Myrtle Beach.
- 1:04:15Speaker 4: Evan is right or Evan said it right.
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: I think Booty is a nice young piece to round
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: out a room with the potential to grow. But it
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: really just depends on if you would sign a contract
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: extension at a reasonable price point for his production. He
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: might not even want to be in New England anymore
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: after him possibly feeling unappreciated.
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: It's just it's a.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Hard deal to do for the Patriots right now.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: I mean, the more you talk about him trying to
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: get paid, it's like, well, what do you base it on?
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: I would just argue what you like, what would be
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: the parameters of a nice cheap deal that you would
- 1:04:47Speaker 2: think that he would sign.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: The day you think he would sign is the key point.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Right, But that's what I'm saying, Like, like, I don't
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: think I think people just want him to just continue
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: on his rookie contract and be okay with it because
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I'm a Patriot.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: What would a forty to fifty reception receiver get in
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: the NFL these days? I know that's he wants, probably
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: more than that.
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: But if you think that he has upside ten to
- 1:05:12Speaker 3: twelve million a year.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: If you think any of you would you give it
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: to him?
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: No?
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: I wouldn't, Oh I would.
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: If you think I would say more more realistically, probably
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: eight to ten as a like you know a floor
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: range of I mean back to back five hundred yard seasons.
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: It's not you know, I give him fifteen like they
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: just want so. Romeo Dobs had eight hundred yards last year,
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: his career high, and he got seventeen seventeen to five
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: from the Patriots in an inflated contract to be fair,
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: but just apples to apples. Kijon Booty has never top
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: six hundred yards, so I think ten is more than
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: generous like I think.
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: You're talking about your third or fourth receiver is making
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: you know, more than ten million a year. Like I'm
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: not doing that.
- 1:06:04Speaker 4: God's perception.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: Now, I don't care. Like again, if you want to
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: tell me that suddenly the Patriots are going to be like,
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: you know, the highest spending, you know, like the Eagle,
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: then I'm fine. I don't care. It's not my money,
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: and you can make it work. But I just I've
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: been here. I know that that's going to take away
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: something else.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: I'll take it away from other things.
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: And I think a second, you know, think twice about it.
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: Where's my food, Alex, By the way, it's on its way.
- 1:06:33Speaker 4: It's on its way.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Okay, because I have an exciting new Bob's read I
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: want to do, but I want to do it before
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: the break. I totally understand.
- 1:06:40Speaker 4: I'm holding off on that. Let's see.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: Peter writes in in the off season, I listened to
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: old podcasts. It's great listening to all the takes, especially
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: when you guys got them wrong.
- 1:06:53Speaker 4: Yes, I'm a bad person.
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: You're welcome.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Even though I hate to say it, but Evan was
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: really ahead of everyone when it came to Drake Man.
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: I also really enjoyed hearing Mike talk about how he
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: had won in not getting a dog February first, at
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. We all know how that turned out.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: So my question is I've always agreed with Paul when
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: it came to the offensive line, but I'm a bit
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: confused when he stands how he stands on that now
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: is it still the same? I think right now? Taking
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: Will Campbell was not a great pick. That's something else.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: Paul always says, you don't hear about the failures of
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: high picks for offensive lineman. If he could tell me
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: his stance now after two years of the Patrios taking
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: lineman in the first round, Like, what is your stance
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: with that?
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: I don't really understand what I was supposed to say.
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: Do you still agree with taking the lineman in the
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: first round?
- 1:07:43Speaker 2: I mean, if you think the tackle is the best player,
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: then that's fine. I just my stance on offensive lineman
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: is I think that a lot of people will tell
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: you a lot of draft experts, a lot of NFL
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: people will say that's the safe pick. Tackle the safe
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: pick because when the tackle busts, no one knows unless
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: he actually doesn't play like the kid that Rabel drafted
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: in Tennessee who actually never played, is George Isah Wilson,
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: Like that's a bust because he never even played. But
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: if you play and you're out there, no one's really
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: watching closely enough to call him a bust while he's
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: out there. But like Nikhil Harry's out there and he's
- 1:08:26Speaker 2: not catching any passes and everybody's willing to say he's
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: a bust. That's my argument about offensive line. It's just
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: as dangerous as every other position. It's not a safe pick.
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: You have to get it right. That's that's my only
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: criticism about the offensive line. The Patriots had to take
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: Will Campbell. The difference is they had to they needed
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: a left tackle.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: The difference with offensive line is getting it right means
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: you don't hear from him again, Like he plays, but
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: you don't hear about him. That's getting it right. You know,
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: with wide receiver and all these other positions. He needs
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: to make an impact that you hear about on Sunday.
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think it's given the state of tackle
- 1:09:04Speaker 5: position in the league. It's is it is a mid
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: round first round pick worth it just to have a
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: solid plug and play.
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Nothing special. Kind of tackle.
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: You know, I think at this point, without hard it
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: is it's you probably would sign up for that at
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: this point, you know. I mean, if if Lomu turns
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: out to be a fine right tackle or whatever, you know,
- 1:09:23Speaker 5: it's it does seem a little bit rich.
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: But it's just so hard to find these guys.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: I mean, you heard the unfortunate Foxborough the reaction they
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: had about you know, just it's so hard to find tackles.
- 1:09:31Speaker 5: I mean, they got what eight of them now hopefully
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: three of them can play.
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: It's really hard to A bad offensive line really sings
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: your offense. I don't think your offensive line needs to
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: be elite with that, especially if the quarterback is good.
- 1:09:47Speaker 3: But if you have a bad offensive line, they just
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: takes so many things off the menu of what you
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: can call. So like you need to have, i what
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: the Patriots had last year. You need to have a
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: serviceable above average offensive line to be a really good offense.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: I think if you or anything below that, then you're
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: asking a lot out of mostly the quarterback to kind
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: of elevate the parts around it.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: I think that's a good things.
- 1:10:11Speaker 5: I mean, we said so many times about they got
- 1:10:14Speaker 5: from terrible to average last year?
- 1:10:17Speaker 6: You know, can they get above average this year?
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: Can they take some strides with if Vera Tucker stays
- 1:10:21Speaker 5: healthy and becomes that guy that made him a first
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: round pick?
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: You know, Morgan Moses can stay healthy.
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: If Will Campbell and Jared Wilson have gotten stronger and
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: made strides, you can they be better?
- 1:10:30Speaker 6: Are they going to set the table then to you know,
- 1:10:32Speaker 6: maybe put Lomu in.
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: There and have a really solid group in front of
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: Drake may I mean that seems to be a huge priority.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: It's better on pay. I mean, I don't think you
- 1:10:40Speaker 2: can argue that for all the reasons you just said.
- 1:10:42Speaker 2: And you know, I agree with Evans's point, if you're
- 1:10:44Speaker 2: really really bad, like I'm always the guy to the
- 1:10:47Speaker 2: email's point, He's right to call me out on it.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: I'm always the guy that poopoo's the offensive line. But
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: you see it, like you saw what the Chargers couldn't
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: run an offense last year with all the guys they
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: were missing. They flat out couldn't run plays. Herbert was
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: getting killed killed and you can't operate that way now.
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: I would argue the flip side of that is, no
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: one wasn't any worse than that game than it was
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: the rest of the year, and they won eleven games
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: and they made it to that game. But because but
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: you can't be good teams. That's where the difference comes in.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: And because our quarterback, you have a hard time consistently
- 1:11:19Speaker 2: beating teams that have your your caliber of talent.
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: Yeah, like I think the teams that people throw back
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: in my face are like the Bengals. It's like, Okay, yes,
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: he gave me Joe Burrow, T Higgins and Jamar Chase.
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: I could make it work. Right.
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: That's why this offseason is so critical in improving that offense,
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: both on the line and the wide receiver room, because
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: you don't want to be that team that can't beat
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: the good teams, or the offense struggles every time it
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: plays a team that challenges you with pressure or.
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: Ruins your quarterback. Joe Burrow can't stay healthy, you know,
- 1:11:52Speaker 3: Justin Herbert last year is playing with one arm against
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: the Patriots and the playoffs. Like, you don't want to
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: get into that situation. You know, not to go all
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: the way back to like Andrew Luck, but like, you
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: don't want to be that team that does that to
- 1:12:04Speaker 3: your young quarterback. And I think the Bengals are on
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: the verge of it, Like the Bengals are really flirting
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: with Joe Burrow just be being perennially hurt because they
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: can't protect him.
- 1:12:14Speaker 6: Yeah, and I mean I connect that point you just made.
- 1:12:15Speaker 6: Fred back to earlyer point.
- 1:12:16Speaker 5: About Booty with is the difference between Brown giving you
- 1:12:20Speaker 5: a guy that you can beat those elite teams with you.
- 1:12:23Speaker 5: I mean, I allowed myself to go and watch you
- 1:12:25Speaker 5: know on YouTube that, like all of AJ Brown's catches
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: from twenty twenty five, I'm like the guy he can
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: still play. I mean, he's still going to be, you know,
- 1:12:34Speaker 5: have enough skills, I think, to really fit into this offense.
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: I'd be excited if they get him.
- 1:12:39Speaker 4: Let's see.
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Mike writes in he's in Virginia Beach on the discussion
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: of Booty. I kind of understand why he may be
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: staying away. They already signed Dobbs, They're looking for Aj
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: as well, which pushes Booty down to number three, depending
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: on maturation and progress at Williams Spot and Evan's right
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: up on Josh's regular package two wide receiver, one full back,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: one tight end, one full back. He already said run
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: running back, that leaves no spot for Booty. Not to mention,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Josh loves him some two tight end sets again, leaving
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: only two spots for wide receiver and one running back.
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I think in a simple, simple numbers game, for what
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Booty wants and what the team is looking for, it
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: seems it may be better to move on. Also, if
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: there was some wild ability they're waiting to be unleashed,
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: I feel teams would be more than happy to give
- 1:13:28Speaker 1: up a mid to late day three pick for that.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: On top of two off seasons in a row.
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: They're looking to move on.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: I think Booty is a good three lower tier two
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: but from everything, but he is not offering what.
- 1:13:42Speaker 4: They need right now anyway. I thanks for the read.
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, I mean that's what basically you guys are saying.
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the big NERD conversation right now on nerd Football.
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: Twit about the NERD conversations. Can you wait for the break.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Heavy personnel group inks and offensively and are those going
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: to start to be more and more popular? Emilating the
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: rams the Bears? You know teams that did that a
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: lot last year. You know, two tight end sets, the
- 1:14:08Speaker 3: full back you know, basically going two wide receivers a
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: lot of the time, the Rams win one wide receiver
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: a lot of the times, and combating some of these
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: defenses that are playing lighter boxes, too high safeties, dime
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: defense and saying, if you're gonna be light and you're
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: gonna empty the box, we're gonna put big dudes on
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: the field and we're gonna run you over, you know,
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: and see that's sort of been the mentality, and it'd
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: be interesting to see, you know. Some that's been the
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: popular take is that that's going to take over the league,
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: that the big thing in the league is going to
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: be two and three tight ends on the field or
- 1:14:44Speaker 3: full back and tight ends on the field. Some people
- 1:14:47Speaker 3: now are saying, maybe we're overrating that a little bit
- 1:14:49Speaker 3: because it's been such a dominant eleven personnel, three wide
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: receiver league for going on a decade plus. Really now,
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: and it does that pendulum swing back the other way
- 1:15:00Speaker 3: to combat defenses. You know, I've said it before on
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: the show. Defenses right now are ahead of offense, I
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: would say schematically.
- 1:15:08Speaker 4: In the league.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: In the league, defenses have gotten really, really good, especially
- 1:15:13Speaker 3: at drawing up pressure. You know, some of the ways
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: that teams bring pressure now is exotic and and hard
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: to pick up, and a lot of coaches offensive coaches
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: are saying, to hell with it. We're just gonna put
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: the quarterback under center. We're gonna put a bunch of
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: big people on the field, and we're gonna run run
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: play action down your throat and then you can, you know,
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: do your fancy blitzes on your own time. Yeah, and
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: that's sort of been the way. It's because you get
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: into third and long when we saw it in the
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: Super Bowl. You get into third and long against the
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: defense like Seattle, it's game over. Like you're not picking
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: up a first down. You're probably going backwards and hurting
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: yourself more than anything. So, you know, it's it's a
- 1:15:49Speaker 3: cool kind of chess match of how how our offense
- 1:15:52Speaker 3: is going to catch back up because right now defenses
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: have kind of passed them.
- 1:15:55Speaker 5: I mean, what team is a better example of it
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: than the Patriots getting Gilliam and Julian Hill. You know,
- 1:16:00Speaker 5: weren't really recommitting to that things. I mean, it's on
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: the table for him if he wants to.
- 1:16:03Speaker 2: One part of the offseason that has me worried, Mike, Yeah,
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: I agree.
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: Well, but I think that, you know, has you worried.
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: But at the same time, like the whole league is
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: kind of trending in this direction. You know, the amount
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: of tight ends that went in the top one hundred,
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: the amount of true why tight ends that went earlier
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: than expected, like you know, Nate boor Kicker to the
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: Jaguars like super early because he's a great blocker, you know,
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: like that. That's so that's really.
- 1:16:26Speaker 2: Part, Like the amount of tight ends doesn't work because
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: there's plenty of pass catching tight ends that make big plays.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: And you know the Rams use those three guys they
- 1:16:33Speaker 2: all can they all can can catch, and they were
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: all part I mean, they didn't have like a George
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: Kittle out of their three guys, but those guys could play.
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: So that part of it is, to me, is exciting
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: because you can make big plays, you can get you
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: get in the end zone doing that kind of stuff.
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: What worries me is, you know, like because I agree
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: with a lot of what Evan said, and I don't
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: want to jump in and I just would argue, like
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: you're probably right in that defenses have sort of done
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: a lot of a job and catching up, but scoring
- 1:17:02Speaker 2: still up so I would hate to see the offenses
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: sort of adjust to the adjustments by running the ball
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: and saying like, well, we're not going to score as much,
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: but we're going to be more efficient that way, you know,
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: because that's what happens when you would I think that's
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: the biggest thing the defenses have done over the last
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: say five years, is they've made you go the long
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: way more often, and the good defenses don't let you
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: do it. They like Seattle, they stop you from doing
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: that because all they got to do is, as Evan said,
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: get you in that one third and long and they
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: get off the field. But I also think it's interesting
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: that teams, good offensive teams seem to be good every year.
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: Good defensive team seems to fluctuate more, don't you think.
- 1:17:46Speaker 2: I mean that is totally anecdotal.
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: The chaos to cause turnovers and turnovers are not a
- 1:17:53Speaker 3: predictive great defense they go they do widely go back
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: and forth. But you know, I think that's the different
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: and is like, yes, that might lead to lower scoring,
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: but the drawback of going backwards on a third down
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: is so big that you can lose games by taking sacks,
- 1:18:13Speaker 3: turning the ball over on those situations that it might actually,
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: even though the scoring itself might be lower, it might
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: be I hate to use the word safer, but like
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: kind of safer to play a more conservative style, because
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: what happens is you lose games that way. You get
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: into third down, you drop the quarterback back fifty times,
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: whatever the case may be, and all of a sudden,
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: you know, the sacks start to rack up, the turnovers
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: start to rack up, the balls going the other way.
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: It just that. And I think that teams are still
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: going to pass the ball plenty, but the way that
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: defenses have caused chaos to create negative plays is just
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: kind of losing teams games.
- 1:18:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: I said that years ago, So you know what made
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: me laugh? Yeah, I think one of either Evans guys
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: or Paul's guy. Last week, the Pictures had community day.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: All the players were present except for Booty, and Robert
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Kraft was there and Andre Tippett and they had kids
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: from a school in Providence and it was a really
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: nice day out on the practice field outside the new facility.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: One of one of the scribes, maybe more than once, said, oh,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: you know, we saw Drake May and looked like you
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: put on you know, a.
- 1:19:31Speaker 3: Lot of see that picture that we took going around.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: Wait a minute, it's only been like two months about
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: since the season ended. Like, how much different could he look?
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: Fred? This is this time of year, this is what
- 1:19:44Speaker 3: it's all about, I know, but really the best shape
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: of his life. We're all excited about it.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: It's only been a couple of months. It's the last
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: time we saw on the field.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: We took I think it was our picture. We posted
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: a picture of him doing running during U and the obviously.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Angles can be you know, deceive it. Ok. Well, the
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: like the.
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: Drake May fan base thinks that he looks jacked, and
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: I'm not going to say he doesn't.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: Probably spent one of those months, you know, sort of
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: getting over the injury too.
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: Plus on a honeymoon.
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we can so like, really, how much like has
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: he physically changed?
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: Looks great, best shape of his life.
- 1:20:21Speaker 4: He always looked great.
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean he's still like twenty three. I mean
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: I feel like he's still got some growing to dude.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: Maybe, but a month and a half he should get bigger.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Absolutely, you asked about Ota is what we're looking at.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: That's the thing I'm looking forward to the least is shape.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: Do you think Kyle Williams looks a little bigger this year?
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: I don't know, Well it wakes like on ninety pounds,
- 1:20:43Speaker 2: like I don't know.
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: Ninety last year he's more like one eighty one eighty
- 1:20:47Speaker 3: five now he's one.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Ninety, right Like, I'm sorry, I couldn't tell the difference
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: between eighty six and one ninety one. I couldn't.
- 1:20:54Speaker 6: We just we got in there with the fried Doe
- 1:20:56Speaker 6: eight out of this is.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: The exciting part. This is what it's all that, and
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: that's what will happen. And I'll just be like, Mike,
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: take me away from this time.
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: I just made me laugh. It's not like it's been
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: six months where.
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Someone ken, you know, Vince will Force hasn't redistributed the
- 1:21:12Speaker 2: weight yet.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Right right, Like like when you when you consider you know,
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: resting the injury, going on a honeymoon.
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: I know he was in Japan's.
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: Yeah, he was like, there's famously no gyms anywhere else,
- 1:21:27Speaker 3: so he can't get.
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: What I mean, you're not your physique in a month.
- 1:21:32Speaker 5: And a half, you know, double sessions, you know, I mean,
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: I'd like to see will get at some weight.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: That's the one I'd be watching for see if he's
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: got so that.
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: Someone asked me that yesterday if I and I haven't
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: seen Will Campbell also since the last day, you know whatever,
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: the day after the Super Bowl that we were in
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: the locker room. But you know, as he looked noticeably
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: bigger and like, this is what my wife is like,
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: he's he's like a six six, like.
- 1:21:57Speaker 5: Mountain bigger three eighteen last time I saw him, and
- 1:22:02Speaker 5: it's about three twenty six.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what this.
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: He hangs from the ceiling Bobby Brady and he just
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: stretches his arm.
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: This is what this is all about. You're just you know,
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: you overrate everything you said. This guy like you know,
- 1:22:17Speaker 3: this guy had a great practice in the middle of May,
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: and now we got to talk about Kyle Dixon and
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: how amazing he is. Like that's what this is.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: This is the fun part to cot uh.
- 1:22:28Speaker 6: But that's why my bar is low.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: I just want to see rare or now I want
- 1:22:30Speaker 5: to see how you know, I said, like Gronk, you
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: guys have said it like we actually see him on
- 1:22:34Speaker 5: the field, right, No, this, yeah, he catches.
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: A pass up to see him tomorrow from Drake May
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: where his pants can be hands. I'm gonna have to
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: pull back up.
- 1:22:43Speaker 4: Been warned, listen.
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I I think that this time of year matters, right,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: But to me, it matters mostly mentally, you know, Like
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: I I do agree with what Bill said, Like you know,
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: when you miss out on OTAs or whatever, you get behind,
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. Like even though it's not, this isn't
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: supposed to be a competitive part.
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: It's a teaching part.
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: I think that teaching matters mentally, and I think that
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: being here for OTAs, that's what it's the learning part
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: that matters most right now. And I think when you're
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: not here or you're not listening, I think you do
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: fall behind. And so that when training camp comes, everybody
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: else is that much more ahead of you.
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: Yeah, this is a lot of this time of years,
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: like basically like going to school, it's a client like
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: they're teaching you to install you know, the verbiage of
- 1:23:35Speaker 3: the playbook. And if you are, you know, still stuck
- 1:23:39Speaker 3: in the first grade and all your teammates are in
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: the third grade, right, you know that that's going to
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: naturally just put you behind. But what happens on the field,
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: I've had some very very bad spring Ota takes based
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: off of what happens in these practices tend to ben
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: so you try to learn from that.
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: Let's get to some of those after the break.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you can wait till Alex gets into his space.
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: But you know, last week we were talking about consumer

- 1:24:07Speaker 1: last few bastions of impartiality and unbiased.

- 1:27:09Speaker 14: What do you make of having a play the opener
- 1:27:12Speaker 14: in Seattle on Wednesday night.
- 1:27:14Speaker 8: Yeah, I think it's a great opportunity for us to
- 1:27:16Speaker 8: you know, got there and show showcase our talents and
- 1:27:18Speaker 8: you know, all the all the hard work that we've
- 1:27:20Speaker 8: been putting in this offseason with each other thus far
- 1:27:22Speaker 8: as OTAs and you know, finishing an Ota strong and
- 1:27:25Speaker 8: so it's just it's just another opportunity for us to
- 1:27:27Speaker 8: go out there and you know, come together as a team,
- 1:27:29Speaker 8: band together, started to start the year off right, want
- 1:27:31Speaker 8: to know, on the road, and it's hard to do that,
- 1:27:33Speaker 8: and so you know, go out there, do you know,
- 1:27:35Speaker 8: did the do your job to the best of your
- 1:27:36Speaker 8: abilities and see what happens?
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: Is there any.
- 1:27:39Speaker 7: Carryover lingering effects from I was obviously the last game
- 1:27:42Speaker 7: you played, and.
- 1:27:43Speaker 8: To be chip, I mean, I think you always have
- 1:27:46Speaker 8: a chip on your shoulder when you're when you're going
- 1:27:47Speaker 8: up against somebody who you previously lost to the year before.
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: So I'm treating it just like another game.
- 1:27:52Speaker 8: I'm gonna go out there, I'm gonna be composed just
- 1:27:55Speaker 8: how I was in the super Bowl when we played them.
- 1:27:57Speaker 8: Nothing's really changed shop just the date we're playing each
- 1:28:00Speaker 8: other and the location we're playing each other, So I'm
- 1:28:02Speaker 8: gonna out there and kind of treat the game just
- 1:28:03Speaker 8: how I did in the Super Bowl.
- 1:28:05Speaker 14: When you see the schedule for the first time, like,
- 1:28:06Speaker 14: what do you look at, like, pockets of games, this
- 1:28:09Speaker 14: is a tough stretch or where you're going.
- 1:28:12Speaker 9: What do you look at when you when you see
- 1:28:13Speaker 9: that schedule the first time?
- 1:28:15Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean, I think just for me personally, you know,
- 1:28:18Speaker 8: certain certain teams are I think known to be better
- 1:28:21Speaker 8: on special teams than others, and so or matchups of
- 1:28:23Speaker 8: guys that I know are really good on teams that'll
- 1:28:25Speaker 8: I'll go up again. So you know, yeah, yeah, I
- 1:28:27Speaker 8: look third of those games because you want to play
- 1:28:28Speaker 8: against the best. If you want to be the best,
- 1:28:30Speaker 8: you got to play against the best. So that's that's
- 1:28:32Speaker 8: like my mindset looking at it. Or you know, this
- 1:28:34Speaker 8: might not be so much that you know, the football
- 1:28:36Speaker 8: nitty gritty stuff, but if I haven't played in the
- 1:28:38Speaker 8: stadium yet, I'll be like kind of looking forward to
- 1:28:40Speaker 8: playing in a new stadium, new environment.
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: So that's always exciting.
- 1:28:43Speaker 8: But yeah, when the schedule release comes out, you know,
- 1:28:46Speaker 8: there's not much we can you know, say about it.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: What we can do about it.
- 1:28:48Speaker 8: It's just you know, playing the team that's you know,
- 1:28:50Speaker 8: scheduled the next week or that week. So it's always exciting,
- 1:28:53Speaker 8: but you know, just try to even keel about it.
- 1:28:55Speaker 6: Are there any stadiums you haven't played in yet as LA?
- 1:28:58Speaker 8: I haven't played the Chargers so far. Yeah, so I'm
- 1:29:00Speaker 8: really excited to go play out there. And I got
- 1:29:03Speaker 8: ninety percent of my family still in Orange County, so
- 1:29:06Speaker 8: I'm sure they'll be uh, they'll be out there. Repping
- 1:29:08Speaker 8: school is strong.
- 1:29:10Speaker 14: Regarding that first point about special teams that you'll afford
- 1:29:13Speaker 14: it going against the last when you played Seattle in
- 1:29:16Speaker 14: the Super Bowl, what stood out about them and how
- 1:29:18Speaker 14: close did you come into blocking that last punt?
- 1:29:22Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean k coach harbaughd does a really good
- 1:29:25Speaker 8: job at getting those guys ready to rock and roll,
- 1:29:26Speaker 8: and him and I had a really cool conversation after
- 1:29:29Speaker 8: the game between us, and you know, those guys go
- 1:29:31Speaker 8: out there and they play hard, and they got some
- 1:29:33Speaker 8: really good talented players out there, and they got Rashid
- 1:29:35Speaker 8: back there as a returner. So you know, anytime you
- 1:29:37Speaker 8: go up against the guy that dynamic, it's it's always fun.
- 1:29:40Speaker 8: You know, it's it's like, you know what he can do.
- 1:29:42Speaker 8: You know, he's super dangerous. But to go out there
- 1:29:44Speaker 8: and go against the guys that are the best, like,
- 1:29:46Speaker 8: that's what you want to do, like I said earlier.
- 1:29:47Speaker 8: So but yeah, I think it was a real relatively
- 1:29:51Speaker 8: close to getting that last one. The punter got it off,
- 1:29:54Speaker 8: you know, pretty pretty fast. I think he looked over
- 1:29:56Speaker 8: and saw me getting getting ready to rock and roll.
- 1:29:58Speaker 8: So yeah, I'm super excited about that game. I think
- 1:30:00Speaker 8: it'll be another fun, awesome competitive game.
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: Do you get more amped up when you face guys
- 1:30:05Speaker 2: that caliber?
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: Do you like hone in more? Is it somewhere in between?
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: Like what's your reaction when facing the e leite competition?
- 1:30:10Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean you've obviously tip your hat off and
- 1:30:12Speaker 8: respect them because they're really good at their craft, and
- 1:30:14Speaker 8: you know you want that kind of same respect and
- 1:30:17Speaker 8: from them as well. But you know, you always get
- 1:30:18Speaker 8: excited to go up against guys that are good. It's
- 1:30:20Speaker 8: just like, all right, let's see who wants to go,
- 1:30:22Speaker 8: Like who's going to have the upper hand today, who's
- 1:30:24Speaker 8: gonna want it more? So, you know, growing up, I
- 1:30:26Speaker 8: was always super competitive. I never wanted to be, you know,
- 1:30:29Speaker 8: going up against you know, the least skilled guy. I'm like,
- 1:30:31Speaker 8: I want the best, biggest, fastest guy. I want to
- 1:30:33Speaker 8: see what I'm made of. I want, you know, you know,
- 1:30:35Speaker 8: see I see see if I can you know, hang
- 1:30:36Speaker 8: with the big boys essentially when I was younger, So
- 1:30:39Speaker 8: I think that mindset carried up to you know, high school,
- 1:30:41Speaker 8: college and now at this level. So you know, it's
- 1:30:44Speaker 8: it's always exciting to go up against guys that you
- 1:30:46Speaker 8: know are good.
- 1:30:47Speaker 5: Right now, you're five for you do you make a
- 1:30:49Speaker 5: list of specific goals that you want to accomplish year
- 1:30:52Speaker 5: to year?
- 1:30:52Speaker 10: And how have you felt like your NFL career has evolved?
- 1:30:55Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean I think starting off, it's it's always
- 1:30:58Speaker 8: hard as a rookie and you know, you're just drinking
- 1:30:59Speaker 8: through a fire. So I think the more and more
- 1:31:02Speaker 8: you know, I've been playing in this league and you
- 1:31:04Speaker 8: got more exposure, I think you become more comfortable and
- 1:31:07Speaker 8: you're not worried about like the little things. You're not
- 1:31:08Speaker 8: worried about just showing up on time, Like that's just
- 1:31:10Speaker 8: built in. So it's always you know, it's always interesting
- 1:31:13Speaker 8: when you reflect after a season to see, you know,
- 1:31:16Speaker 8: what you think you did really well and what you
- 1:31:17Speaker 8: think you you know, didn't do very well. And you
- 1:31:20Speaker 8: know the film is never as bad as you think
- 1:31:21Speaker 8: or it's never as good as you think. So you know,
- 1:31:24Speaker 8: having those conversations with your with your coaches after the season,
- 1:31:26Speaker 8: and you know they can kind of point in a
- 1:31:28Speaker 8: direction where they think you need to work on certain
- 1:31:30Speaker 8: things or you know, certain techniques or get stronger here,
- 1:31:32Speaker 8: faster here. So you know, it's just trying to be,
- 1:31:35Speaker 8: you know, the most well rounded athlete you can be
- 1:31:37Speaker 8: when you're when you're you know, stepping onto the field
- 1:31:39Speaker 8: not only for yourself, but you know for for the
- 1:31:41Speaker 8: ten other guys that you're playing for and playing with
- 1:31:44Speaker 8: on the field. So it's always just finding that that
- 1:31:46Speaker 8: little edge, Like even if you had the best season
- 1:31:48Speaker 8: of your career, like it's always finding that little edge
- 1:31:50Speaker 8: somewhere maybe that could be more of limber or flexible
- 1:31:52Speaker 8: or have better mobility. And that's not even talking being
- 1:31:55Speaker 8: on the football field. So it's just you know, trying
- 1:31:57Speaker 8: to find, you know, that that little edge you can
- 1:31:58Speaker 8: gain after you know, a long hard season.
- 1:32:00Speaker 3: Did I want to two years firsonal Star with Jeremy
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: Springer got a contract extension of soft season.
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: What's it been like working with him and what's it
- 1:32:07Speaker 6: like to see him kind of be rewarded with that
- 1:32:09Speaker 6: for what he does for special teams?
- 1:32:12Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean coach coach s Bringer's you know, first
- 1:32:13Speaker 8: off of phenomenal human being. Off the field, you know
- 1:32:16Speaker 8: him and I you know, we have a really tight relationship.
- 1:32:18Speaker 8: We've known each other since twenty nineteen. So to kind
- 1:32:21Speaker 8: of see him grow and develop as you know a
- 1:32:22Speaker 8: coordinator in this league has been really awesome and special
- 1:32:25Speaker 8: to be a part of. And then when he's on
- 1:32:26Speaker 8: the field, you know, he brings that that that unmatched
- 1:32:29Speaker 8: energy every day and you know it might be annoying,
- 1:32:31Speaker 8: you know, when he's screaming and he's screaming at you
- 1:32:33Speaker 8: in the meeting room to get to lock in and stuff,
- 1:32:35Speaker 8: or you know he screamed at you on the field,
- 1:32:37Speaker 8: but that the energy is contagious, whether you know it
- 1:32:38Speaker 8: or not. So to have him around the building, you know,
- 1:32:41Speaker 8: with his contract extension, I was I was so happy
- 1:32:43Speaker 8: for him, and you know, selfishly, I was happy for
- 1:32:45Speaker 8: myself as well to you know, to continue to work
- 1:32:47Speaker 8: with him and you know, grow a relationship on and
- 1:32:49Speaker 8: off the field, and I want to.
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: Ask us Zach getting promoted to a defensive coordinator. Obviously,
- 1:32:55Speaker 3: I know you do a little bit more special team,
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: so you do spend time.
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: With the defense.
- 1:32:57Speaker 3: What's it'd like to see Zach kind of move up
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: into that role and even ward the last.
- 1:33:00Speaker 8: Season, I mean, I don't think anybody's more deserving than him,
- 1:33:03Speaker 8: you know, stepping into that that defensive coordinator role and
- 1:33:07Speaker 8: role and you know, just doing doing what he did
- 1:33:09Speaker 8: in you know, the postseason and you know through throughout
- 1:33:12Speaker 8: the whole season. It was it was really special and
- 1:33:14Speaker 8: really cool just to get to see him operate on
- 1:33:16Speaker 8: the sideline and you know, see how he's calling plays
- 1:33:19Speaker 8: and see how he you know, talks to just the
- 1:33:20Speaker 8: defensive guys the night before games, and you can tell
- 1:33:23Speaker 8: how much he loves this group, how much he loves
- 1:33:25Speaker 8: his job. And so to see that that you know,
- 1:33:27Speaker 8: fire and passion, it definitely rubs off on the you know,
- 1:33:30Speaker 8: the leaders on the defense, and then you know that
- 1:33:32Speaker 8: rubs off onto the rest of the guys on the defense,
- 1:33:34Speaker 8: and the next thing, you know, it's everyone's got that
- 1:33:35Speaker 8: same mindset, that same energy, and you know, once you
- 1:33:38Speaker 8: have a group of men, you know who have the
- 1:33:40Speaker 8: same direction and goal. You know, it's it's kind of
- 1:33:42Speaker 8: hard to stop. And so to see him, you know,
- 1:33:45Speaker 8: get elevated into that role is was was awesome.
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: I was I was super happy for him as well.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: And now great moments in.
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: History?
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: How do you keep working in an industry that, hey,
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: Eric wouldn't know.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: It's not football.
- 1:34:03Speaker 1: I hate it's.
- 1:34:03Speaker 2: People, but it is funny people.
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: Like you existed? Has that existed before the draft? Show
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: that Eric hats football.
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: Is oh yeah? Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah.
- 1:34:14Speaker 8: No.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: We determined years ago that Eric hates his job. He
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: hates mostly hates us.
- 1:34:19Speaker 2: He hates he hates having to work with us every day. Yeah,
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: he hates.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: He can't believe that he nuts he has to work
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: with people like us. He's like, what happened?
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that much?
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: How did I get here? He must look in his
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: rear view harror when he when he when he drives
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: home and look in the mirror. He must say at
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: least fifteen times a day, how did I get you?
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: All right back here.
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: Patriots Unfiltered eight five five past five hundred podcasts at
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: Patriots dot com. The email address it's Evan, it's Paul,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: it's Deuce, it's me, it's Alex in the booth and
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: we're talking everything, talking Booty and May and everything else.
- 1:35:05Speaker 1: Last week we were talking about who would play us
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: in a documentary? UH, and Alex posed the question in
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: the newsletter UH, Mike and Boca Rattan says, I enjoyed
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: the newsletter and I had a good thought and who
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: would make a good Fred? While he was not an actor?
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: I think Jogi Bera would have made a perfect Fred.
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: I think Yogi was incredibly famous for his malaprops, paradoxes.
- 1:35:27Speaker 4: And twisted turns of phrase.
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: These yogisms would clearly offset his lack of acting skills
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: and make for a perfect Fred. Curious as the paulse thought, I.
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: Think that's great. I think that's a great one. See
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: oh it was Paul, I said Paul. I didn't think
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: of that. That's a that's a good one. I think
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: that one.
- 1:35:47Speaker 3: We both said. Matt Damon produced Zach and Ohio because
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: we can handsome and he's just Matt Damon.
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Zach and Ohio. I don't have much, but I just
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: wanted to pound the table for Michael Keaton playing Paul.
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: Now all I can think about is Paul dressing up
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: as Batman. Michael Keaton as Paul Good.
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: I'll take it. I Likester Mom. Yeah, I'm channelings.
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: He's a great actor.
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: But that mustache Ron Michael, Yeah, that's what I said.
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: I'll take that.
- 1:36:17Speaker 6: What was his best role, Michael Michael Keaton Birdman won
- 1:36:21Speaker 6: a couple.
- 1:36:22Speaker 3: Of Berman was really weird, pretty trippy.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: You ever see him in that movie I forget the
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: name of it. He was based on in San Francisco,
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: and he became.
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: A water in a half. I know the movie you're
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: talking about, and I can't think of another Pacific specific heights.
- 1:36:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I don't think I saw that one.
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: He was scary and that mister Mom gung ho.
- 1:36:44Speaker 2: I love I love mister Mom.
- 1:36:48Speaker 4: Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice.
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: Batman is probably Batman probably most iconic, right.
- 1:36:53Speaker 5: Oh, it was so huge that summer. I remember that
- 1:36:54Speaker 5: summer of Batman, Like everybody had to get a Batman shirt.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: It was I Gotta go with Bill blaise Zowski and
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: night Shift. They show that none of you saw it,
- 1:37:02Speaker 2: but it's a tremendous early eighties comedy.
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: Night Shift was good for him. And do you remember
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: his uh series, his comedy series on TV.
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: No, he was, yeah, he was, Oh.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: He he was with somebody else famous. It was two
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: of them. Forget somebody somebody right in. He was in
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: a in a in a in.
- 1:37:25Speaker 2: A sitcom and I can't I'm sure I saw it.
- 1:37:31Speaker 2: I can't think of it.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: Found Frasier.
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: Oh, the founder, he was Roy Krock, Tony Ray Kroc.
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: No, not the Tony Randall show. What did Michael Keaton
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: star in a sitcom?
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: I mean he's made appearances, really thirty Rock, He's made appearances.
- 1:37:50Speaker 3: Probably as Michael Keaton.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: Oh you know what I got that? I'm mixing the Perfect.
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: Stranger Bosom Buddies, Tom Hanks, Peter Scolario. We're Blao and
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: Buddy all women hotel mixing up Michael dressed up as women, right.
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: Probably couldn't do that one today.
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: All right, never mind with Michael Keith. Let's go to
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: the hotline.
- 1:38:16Speaker 4: Chris is in England. What's up, Chris?
- 1:38:20Speaker 9: Good Evening team?
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: How we doing good.
- 1:38:23Speaker 9: Good stuff? I'm currently lying in my hammock in my
- 1:38:27Speaker 9: garden in England. We have had our hottest May since
- 1:38:30Speaker 9: records began. So it's very nice seven o'clock in the
- 1:38:33Speaker 9: evening in a league Sarah enjoying a bit. And one
- 1:38:37Speaker 9: of the things I love about the NFL, apart from
- 1:38:39Speaker 9: a gain itself, is the symmetry of everything in the
- 1:38:41Speaker 9: way the schedule is done, and just the way that
- 1:38:44Speaker 9: you know home and away and teams visit every four years,
- 1:38:47Speaker 9: and the et cetera, et cetera. Level about what I
- 1:38:49Speaker 9: can never understand is the bye week. And now the
- 1:38:52Speaker 9: bye week seems to be so random. Sometimes there's six
- 1:38:55Speaker 9: teams off, sometimes two, sometimes none. I have always won.
- 1:39:00Speaker 9: Why they don't just have especially now we have eighteen weeks,
- 1:39:03Speaker 9: Why don't we have weeks one to five everybody plays
- 1:39:07Speaker 9: so it can get some rooms and going, and then
- 1:39:09Speaker 9: to the next eight weeks. Every division just has a
- 1:39:12Speaker 9: week off. We have a week off. So at the
- 1:39:15Speaker 9: end of a game week, whether you've had a bye
- 1:39:18Speaker 9: week or not, each division has played the same amount
- 1:39:20Speaker 9: of games. You do that for the next eight weeks.
- 1:39:23Speaker 9: Then you have five weeks left at the business end
- 1:39:25Speaker 9: of the season, and then you play where everybody plays,
- 1:39:29Speaker 9: so you've only ever got four weeks off. Everybody's always
- 1:39:32Speaker 9: played the same amount of games and then they could
- 1:39:35Speaker 9: rotate it. So year one, the AFC East has weeked
- 1:39:39Speaker 9: six off, then they move to the middle of the
- 1:39:42Speaker 9: sort of rotation, then they move to the end, et cetera,
- 1:39:44Speaker 9: et cetera. So it's always even, yeah, when they spread
- 1:39:48Speaker 9: out the game. So I just wonder what you thought
- 1:39:49Speaker 9: about that.
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: Well, there is a window, right, you know, like there's
- 1:39:52Speaker 3: no buys for the first six weeks of the season,
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: five weeks of the season, five star right, and then
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: there's no buys until the yea at the end of
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: this season. But I would assume it's logistics, right, like
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: the stadiums are occupied.
- 1:40:04Speaker 4: It's that.
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: And plus I think they need the more flexibility than
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: that because now of the international gamemes in Thursday night
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: games where you have to have a mini buy. So
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: if you start pegging in well this is the week
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: that all these teams are going to be off, you
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: lose your flexibility.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: And it does tend to kind of happen that way
- 1:40:24Speaker 2: that like it's not always to the divisions, but you'll
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: see like the division tends to get to buy at
- 1:40:30Speaker 2: the same time. But I kind of like Chris's idea.
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: I do think that would be an easy way to
- 1:40:35Speaker 2: do it, because obviously those teams are playing each other.
- 1:40:40Speaker 2: Division teams automatically play each other every year, so if
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: you give them the buy at the same time, you're
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: not necessarily cutting into the inventory.
- 1:40:47Speaker 3: I think that that's like the logistics of we have
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: to give the team to buy this week, and there's international,
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: there's Thursday night, there's Monday night, there's other events that
- 1:40:59Speaker 3: as we know, that go on at their stadiums. Like
- 1:41:03Speaker 3: I think it, like Fred's pointed, probably is just too
- 1:41:06Speaker 3: logistically too much of a nightmare to like lock them
- 1:41:09Speaker 3: in to a bye week whereas but this way you
- 1:41:12Speaker 3: can be flexible of when exactly it happens. But the
- 1:41:15Speaker 3: Patriots have had really late bye weeks the last two years,
- 1:41:18Speaker 3: and this one's still kind of late in week eleven,
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: but at least it's not Week fourteen like it's been
- 1:41:22Speaker 3: the last couple of years.
- 1:41:23Speaker 5: What happens with eighteen games, Like, does it become two
- 1:41:26Speaker 5: buys just like two buys randomly or is there a
- 1:41:29Speaker 5: set any kind.
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: Of two buys and you move the Super Bowl back
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: a week?
- 1:41:33Speaker 3: But I think they might start earlier too, like Labor
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: Day week. I think they have to so I think
- 1:41:39Speaker 3: it's going to be Labor Day weekend.
- 1:41:40Speaker 1: They got to go back to playing on Labor Day.
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: I think, yes, yeah, stinks.
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: Yeah, no things.
- 1:41:47Speaker 1: Oh, let's say, Doctor Sam rites in from Queen City, Cincinnati.
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: Let's see, I have a question about this A J.
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: Brown situation. I know there's talk of the price going
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: up and potentially making it difficult to land him. But
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: do you think if this whole Coach Rabel stuff may
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: add to the murkiness of it all. I don't think so.
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: I don't think that would have anything to do.
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: With I don't think so.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: Yeah, even though it's died down, if news of this
- 1:42:17Speaker 1: alleged affair keeps coming up and Rabel decides to protect
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: his family and take a break, does that factor in
- 1:42:22Speaker 1: the AJ Brown's decision to want to come here.
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: That might, But you know, I mean, I think Brown
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: just wants out in the fact that Rabel is here
- 1:42:32Speaker 2: is a bonus for him. Yeah, that could be. Maybe
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: it's just Rabel and that's what he you know, it
- 1:42:38Speaker 2: seemed like he was always a Patriots guy and then
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: he loves Rabel from Tennessee. So I don't know. Yeah,
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: maybe maybe it would affect it.
- 1:42:47Speaker 1: Jordan and Georgia. Hey, guys, am I crazy. I don't
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: see nearly enough enthusiasm for Henderson's sophomore year. I understand
- 1:42:56Speaker 1: he wasn't a perfect player in year one vision and
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: consistency questions, but his explosiveness absolutely translated. I expect some
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: natural progression going into year two, but the updates to
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: the old line and Gilliam opening more holes I think
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: will lead to even more huge plays for Henderson.
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: I'm excited.
- 1:43:15Speaker 1: Email because I feel similarly I don't. I don't feel
- 1:43:18Speaker 1: as in a good email.
- 1:43:22Speaker 5: Please Well, I think it's a good point of the
- 1:43:24Speaker 5: discussion because I have I've found myself feeling that way,
- 1:43:27Speaker 5: and I was saying, I do think that a little
- 1:43:30Speaker 5: bit of the lack of vision that we saw down
- 1:43:33Speaker 5: the stretch, it made me kind of question what his
- 1:43:35Speaker 5: ceiling is. And he's explosive player and certainly came through,
- 1:43:39Speaker 5: you know, in the middle of the season a couple
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: of times with some big plays to help them, and
- 1:43:41Speaker 5: you always want that on your team. But I kind
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: of understand what they're saying. I'm not coming into this
- 1:43:46Speaker 5: season right now feeling like, Oh, Henderson's going to make
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: a big leap.
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:43:50Speaker 5: Maybe I'm a little cold on him, and maybe I
- 1:43:52Speaker 5: shouldn't be, but that's why the email resonated with me.
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: I mean it came borderline unplayable in the playoffs. I
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: barely played in the playoff game, So I mean, that's
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: probably why you're luke warmont it is because he fizzled
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: out pretty now. Jamiir Gibbs had a similar rookie year
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: and then really broke out his second year. So if
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: you want to play the Emailers side, you know, is
- 1:44:14Speaker 3: that speedback? Does it take them a year to get
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: the feel of the game and the rushing lanes in
- 1:44:19Speaker 3: the vision and all that stuff? And Jamiir Gibbs went
- 1:44:22Speaker 3: from like nine hundred yards to like fourteen hundred and
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: sixteen touchdowns his second year and was the superstar, you know,
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: So maybe that's there. I mean, he was drafted a
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: little bit higher.
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: But so on a scale of one to ten, how
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: much better do you think the offensive line will be
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: this year?
- 1:44:40Speaker 4: Ten?
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: Being you know, it's one of the best in the league.
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: I want to say about how about two years ago
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: they were like a two. I think they got to
- 1:44:48Speaker 5: like a five to six last year. I'm going to
- 1:44:50Speaker 5: say they get up to like a seven eighth this year?
- 1:44:54Speaker 4: Yeah, about six, seven, seven?
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: I think it just depends, like there's a lot of unknotes.
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: You know, two rookies from last year going to get better?
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: Is Vera Tucker going to stay healthy, going to play?
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: And where let's assume Lomo isn't playing and Moses plays
- 1:45:12Speaker 1: because he's healthy. Tucker plays most of the games because
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: he's healthy. How much better can this line be.
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: If you said he was they were like a five
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: or six last year, seven seven?
- 1:45:23Speaker 6: I think seven?
- 1:45:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean he makes a better betser.
- 1:45:27Speaker 2: I would just say, you're the big thing to me
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: would be beyond the health of Vera Tucker. How much
- 1:45:37Speaker 2: better does Jared Wilson and Will Campbell get right? Because
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: I think everybody's just looking at what the upgrade is
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: at left guard and they're not looking at wells Wilson
- 1:45:47Speaker 2: as good as center as Bradbury was. I don't know.
- 1:45:49Speaker 2: I don't know that answer. So Wilson needs.
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: To improve if they go from five to seven, how
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: much better does that make? Henderson?
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: Well, I think the email brought up a really good
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: point of Gilliam, like, because you know Belichick was talking
- 1:46:03Speaker 3: about this on the part of My Take podcast, Like
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: the the fullback is is really the guy that makes
- 1:46:09Speaker 3: the decisions when you run behind a full back, Like
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: they kind of takes that whole element of it out
- 1:46:14Speaker 3: of the way. You know, they used to say, like
- 1:46:16Speaker 3: you know, just he's the guiding light, like follow James
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: Devil right, like run right behind Yakub Johnson. Like so
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: if you can simplify it to the point where Gilliam's
- 1:46:25Speaker 3: just the lead blocker and he's making the decisions of
- 1:46:29Speaker 3: what hole we're gonna hit and where we're gonna go,
- 1:46:31Speaker 3: and all Henderson has to do is run, then you know,
- 1:46:35Speaker 3: you could see how that could really benefit him.
- 1:46:39Speaker 2: If in fact there's a problem with Henderson's vision, the
- 1:46:43Speaker 2: fullback helps to mitigate that problem.
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, I just want or two on the offensive line,
- 1:46:49Speaker 5: like who's the cornerstone, Who's like, you know, Logan Mankin's
- 1:46:52Speaker 5: kind of the cornerstone of this offensive line in that
- 1:46:54Speaker 5: like middle chunk where you know, your your tackles were okay,
- 1:46:57Speaker 5: but this was guy was like a kind of tone setter.
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: I don't if they have that yet.
- 1:47:01Speaker 5: I think, I mean, I think it's an opportunity for
- 1:47:03Speaker 5: somebody to emerge into that, and I think in a
- 1:47:05Speaker 5: great world it would be Elijah VERA Tucker could be,
- 1:47:08Speaker 5: you know, maybe the most talented of the all of
- 1:47:10Speaker 5: those guys, maybe the highest ceiling. But you know, Ken,
- 1:47:13Speaker 5: it's more to me than just improving. It's about, you know,
- 1:47:16Speaker 5: to get into like eight, nine, ten territory from seven.
- 1:47:18Speaker 5: I feel like you need the guy who really emerges
- 1:47:21Speaker 5: as like an elite piece, and I.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: Don't I don't know if they have that.
- 1:47:24Speaker 3: You know, you would like to hope it's Campbell, like
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: he drafted him fourth overall, but also, like last year,
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: you're not expecting a young player who's just trying to
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: get his feet wet in the NFL and figure it out,
- 1:47:34Speaker 3: ye to like be a captain and the leader of
- 1:47:37Speaker 3: the team. But that was how he was touted out
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: of college, was that he was like a culture building
- 1:47:43Speaker 3: type of player. His attitude and the way he works
- 1:47:46Speaker 3: and all that kind of stuff. So hopefully now that
- 1:47:49Speaker 3: he's comfortable playing in the league and feels like he,
- 1:47:52Speaker 3: you know, belongs in the league, you know, he can
- 1:47:54Speaker 3: take that next step to kind of take ownership of
- 1:47:57Speaker 3: the offensive line, because I think that's the guy that
- 1:47:59Speaker 3: really should be it, like he should be the one
- 1:48:02Speaker 3: that is that Blair.
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: John of Virginia. I'm one episode behind, But I cannot
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: believe you guys discussed Drake's Iceman album without talking about
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: the line he had about Drake May.
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: I didn't know that was a thing.
- 1:48:15Speaker 3: It's not Drake's not my cup of tea.
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: I'm not a huge Drake fan either, he says. But
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: I couldn't believe he gave a nod to Drake May
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: and such a big project. Loved the line, wondering if
- 1:48:25Speaker 1: you were all aware or not? Make them remember is
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: the song? But what's the line?
- 1:48:30Speaker 4: John?
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: You didn't tell us what the line is. I was
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: not aware of that. Yeah, I wasn't either. I wasn't
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: even aware he had an album called Iceman, So what
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: do I know?
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: Well that I was aware of, but I was not
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: aware of the line because I gave Iceman like three
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: songs and was like, yeah, no, no thanks, Okay, that's
- 1:48:51Speaker 3: my Iceman review.
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: I think Morell is the one who listened to the
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: the album, right, didn't you say that he listened to it?
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: It was okay, He's just okay.
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: I mean kind of like as a rap fan. They
- 1:49:02Speaker 3: like Drake is one of the biggest in the game,
- 1:49:04Speaker 3: as they say, so like you do want to listen.
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: I was in a Horizon store and I the guy
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: that was working and was talking about Drake, and I
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: don't know what I was talking about, but I said, oh,
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: that's mumble rap. So he's not mumble rap.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: Yeah, no, it's definitely not. It's like pop rap, honestly,
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: like he's mainstream rap.
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: Any any research, And.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: There's a lot of Drakes in there.
- 1:49:24Speaker 5: I'm not sure which one is refute referring to our
- 1:49:27Speaker 5: Drake may.
- 1:49:28Speaker 3: Well, he could be talking about himself.
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: So yeah, right, well that's what's confusing. There's also a
- 1:49:32Speaker 5: lot of you know, language I can't use on the radio.
- 1:49:34Speaker 1: Here. Somebody's got to tell us what the shout out
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: to Drake may is in the Drake song.
- 1:49:39Speaker 6: I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna find it.
- 1:49:41Speaker 1: All right, So I think this is it. Got to
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: turn your mic on.
- 1:49:46Speaker 15: Yeah, yeah, all right, So dramatic reading from Drake. As
- 1:49:51Speaker 15: for these other suckers that tucked away, I'm down to
- 1:49:55Speaker 15: put bills on their face. No wonder why they've been
- 1:49:58Speaker 15: ducking Drake. Bills on their face and wonder why they've
- 1:50:02Speaker 15: been ducking.
- 1:50:02Speaker 1: Drake A so bills as in buffalo billow bills. Yeah, really,
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: I do believe.
- 1:50:10Speaker 5: But the bills and the bills Drake's Canadian. The bills
- 1:50:13Speaker 5: sing that, don't sing the Canadian.
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: He doesn't like the buffalo bill.
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: No, he's not bills on they faced? Like, can we
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: figure it? Rained?
- 1:50:25Speaker 2: I take that. I'm a little old, And what.
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: I said, I think it's a double entendre evan. I
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: think it means I mean, really.
- 1:50:32Speaker 3: Do you think it's about the buffalo bills? Yeah, he's
- 1:50:35Speaker 3: from like Toronto. I don't really see.
- 1:50:36Speaker 2: I guess versus Patriots.
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: That's fair. Okay, Now I'm thinking about it out loud. Maybe,
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: But when I hear bills on their face, I'm thinking
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: it makes.
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: Bills fall on their face every year. Okay, so a
- 1:50:49Speaker 2: little bit of both.
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: Okay, I like that. All of a sudden, I have
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: a new respect for Drake. We'll explain it to you
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: like this.
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: I totally understand it. I just think it's meaning something different.
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: We got to get him to ring the bell? Can
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: we get Drake to ring the bell?
- 1:51:03Speaker 4: No?
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: No, absolutely not. No, we don't want that we don't
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: claim that.
- 1:51:07Speaker 4: Okay, Nathan writes in He's from Iowa.
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: Random question regarding playing on holidays, Fred, you said we
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: need to go back to playing on holidays, and I did,
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: and it made me wonder whether or not players get
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: paid extra for playing on holidays like Christmas or Thanksgiving,
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: kind of in the same way people working regular jobs
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: get paid time and a half for working on holidays.
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: I don't think they do.
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: Yeah, they don't.
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: I say, we need to get back and now all
- 1:51:33Speaker 4: of a sudden we are.
- 1:51:36Speaker 2: And most, like a lot of places that are typically
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: open on holidays, you do not get holiday pay. Like
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: you work at a hospital, and sometimes you do, sometimes
- 1:51:44Speaker 2: you don't, depends what the holiday is. Oh yeah, most
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: of them, you don't.
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: I think National holidays and a half.
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: Right, we hourly.
- 1:51:55Speaker 4: If you're hourly, you do, you.
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: Do, you do, but you don't if your salary.
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: Which right exact people don't.
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: I'm not gonna get myself.
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: That Denver Christmas evegain.
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: Yeah, it really makes a whole lot of sense. Yeah, sorry,
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: Oh you didn't get your Christmas bonus? Oh the month
- 1:52:12Speaker 3: I definitely got that. Not that this year we didn't
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: go out to a nice dinner though. That was nice.
- 1:52:16Speaker 3: Thanks thanks for that. Where was that in Denver? Always?
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: Yeah, we did have Thanksgiving Detroit. We had shah Thanksgiving.
- 1:52:27Speaker 2: We did not spend Mike Shanning.
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: That was that was different.
- 1:52:30Speaker 1: Last year we went to Shanahan's when I met Mike Shanahan.
- 1:52:33Speaker 2: Oh big time chick.
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah, no, I got it.
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: I got up and introduced myself to It.
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: Was a real nice guy.
- 1:52:39Speaker 6: That wide zone.
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: That was really cool. You go to Shannahans and there's
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: Mike Shanahan.
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: That happened with me with Don Shula. Sulas in Florida
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: with my family and Don Shula was actually happening.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: I was still, can you have some words for him?
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: I imagine you did?
- 1:52:52Speaker 14: No?
- 1:52:53Speaker 3: I was, did you have no? I did not. I
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: was very excited was walking over that he's signed to
- 1:53:00Speaker 3: talk to you. He signed my menu because the menu
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: is like schuleas you got the menu, It's like a
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: newspaper and it says like seventy two Dolphins football. Yeah
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: now now it's a there was at this time it
- 1:53:12Speaker 3: was a newspaper. And uh now I have one that's
- 1:53:14Speaker 3: autographed by Don Chula because he pretty cool at dinner
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: that night.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: We don't like Don Shula though, bad things to say
- 1:53:20Speaker 1: about us.
- 1:53:21Speaker 3: Yeah, as it turns out it in hindsight, it wasn't really.
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: So burn that.
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: I'm not going to do that.
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: Yes, you will.
- 1:53:29Speaker 3: The winning coach of all time, right, he is pre
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: free agency.
- 1:53:35Speaker 4: I don't think anyone's going to catch him anytime soon.
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: I do, yeah him, I don't know he's got He's
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: got to do like five more seasons to catch him,
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: right something.
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: Maybe, Yeah, I think it's the math definitely within reach.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: M The window wasn't closing.
- 1:53:54Speaker 4: People, baron. No one defends the other teams.
- 1:53:59Speaker 2: Like, up, why are we defending Don Shula? I happened.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: You're defending that happen.
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: You think he's one of the most overrated coaches ever,
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: You're defending the Chiefs.
- 1:54:09Speaker 4: They're going to catch him.
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: Don't confuse stink sticking around forever with an accomplishment like
- 1:54:15Speaker 2: I think.
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: I think if as a head coach, if you can
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: stick around that long, you've done something.
- 1:54:20Speaker 2: He's a He's a good coach.
- 1:54:21Speaker 4: This league does not suffer coaches.
- 1:54:23Speaker 2: Belichick was a better coach than Don Trula, Oh.
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 1:54:27Speaker 4: I'm talking about Andy Reid now.
- 1:54:29Speaker 2: I think Andy Reid's a better coach than Don Shula.
- 1:54:31Speaker 5: Yeah, injury is a two seventy nine, so he'd need Uh,
- 1:54:34Speaker 5: they actually need fifty wins, fifty.
- 1:54:36Speaker 2: More wins at least four seasons four or five.
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: I mean they need to be good again.
- 1:54:41Speaker 4: Right Barton Poland.
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: As far as favorite actor PU pairing, uh PU host
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: pairing from the Friday's newsletter is Paul's idea of Michael
- 1:54:51Speaker 1: Sarah playing Evan cannot unsee it now?
- 1:54:55Speaker 2: Sorry?
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: Who's Michael Sarah.
- 1:54:59Speaker 6: Georgie, Michael and arrested development?
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: Uh oh that guy?
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:55:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I like Michael.
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: I think neither the super bad guys.
- 1:55:07Speaker 2: Well, I was also thinking, isn't he a super Celtic span.
- 1:55:10Speaker 3: No, that's the other that's sorry, close enough though.
- 1:55:15Speaker 16: Mistaken the guy that I put down. Then, Nathan says, Fred,
- 1:55:18Speaker 16: I meant that. I meant speaking about guy Fred, you
- 1:55:22Speaker 16: said we need to get back to playing on Labor Day,
- 1:55:24Speaker 16: not holidays. That's correct, Id, because labor day Labor day?
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: I mean, no, why, what's the matter?
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: What what do you do on labor Day?
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: What do you mean?
- 1:55:33Speaker 1: What?
- 1:55:33Speaker 3: It's my is the last one? Like I literally the
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: last year? Yeah, what do you mean I always.
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: Work on Labor Day.
- 1:55:40Speaker 2: Yeah, we're almost always working.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: It's a game.
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: We yeah, but we at least get Saturday and Sunday off.
- 1:55:45Speaker 6: Yeah Okay not this year.
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: True yet.
- 1:55:50Speaker 1: Probably Jackie and Abba after to play Fred. It should
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: be ed Asner, whose gruff demeanor makes gives him a
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: heart of goal and would perfectly encapsulate Fred.
- 1:56:03Speaker 6: Yah, I said Danny DeVito.
- 1:56:04Speaker 5: I thought that was a little off the beaten path,
- 1:56:06Speaker 5: but I thought he could capture the spirit of Fred, like.
- 1:56:08Speaker 2: Because he's short, no, go to hell wow, because I
- 1:56:14Speaker 2: happen to think Paul Giamadi is a tremendous act.
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: Oh yeah, no, no, you need range to get Fred, Like,
- 1:56:20Speaker 5: you got to balance the boss man vibe with you know,
- 1:56:23Speaker 5: sometimes you're a little goofy, you're not afraid to be
- 1:56:25Speaker 5: the dune.
- 1:56:26Speaker 2: Sometimes I screwed up Evans thing that's so on brand
- 1:56:30Speaker 2: for me. I was thinking, I'm like, not.
- 1:56:35Speaker 3: Insulted by a super Bad is one of my favorite.
- 1:56:38Speaker 5: Oh man, the first time I saw super Bad and
- 1:56:40Speaker 5: he walked out, I'm like, oh my god, this kid
- 1:56:42Speaker 5: is perfect, Like he's just the perfect like high school
- 1:56:45Speaker 5: nerd hanger on her friend that you don't really want
- 1:56:47Speaker 5: hanging out with.
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: You're like, oh wait, what's his real name?
- 1:56:50Speaker 6: In it? Shoot?
- 1:56:54Speaker 3: That that movie, Like that's everybody that grew up in
- 1:56:58Speaker 3: that time frame. That's what high school really was like
- 1:57:01Speaker 3: like that movie Nails, Like, oh yeah, like you have
- 1:57:04Speaker 3: like the super popular kids, and you have the kids
- 1:57:07Speaker 3: that are like on the periphery that get invited sometimes
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: but not always, and then you have like the real losers, right,
- 1:57:12Speaker 3: and there's.
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: Like did you give them names in your school? Like
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: we had the jocks, then we had the rats. Rats
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: were like you know, the cigarettes, smoking pots, smoking druggies,
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: switch right, you know.
- 1:57:28Speaker 3: But it was also like right around when like it
- 1:57:30Speaker 3: started to be cool to be smart, but not like
- 1:57:33Speaker 3: nerd smart, but like you didn't also want it wasn't
- 1:57:36Speaker 3: cool anymore to like be funking out, you know, Like
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: it was you were starting to get into that, and
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: that's super bad. Is exactly what high school at that
- 1:57:44Speaker 3: time was. Like, Oh yeah, band kids were huge, The
- 1:57:49Speaker 3: theater kids, the theater kids. The theater kids know how
- 1:57:52Speaker 3: to party.
- 1:57:52Speaker 4: Fred knew how to party.
- 1:57:55Speaker 3: Theater kids know how to party in your ratio.
- 1:57:57Speaker 6: The kids are always nice to you.
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: Yeah, theater nicest kid.
- 1:58:01Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, the ratio is phenomenal to.
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: Did you have names categories?
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: Not really? No, No, there was definitely separated into those
- 1:58:12Speaker 2: categories that you're talking about. But I don't. I don't
- 1:58:14Speaker 2: really remember necessarily really. Yeah, I mean I I sort of.
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: Yet I was one of the few. Kevin Noonan and
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: I two of the few that skirted the jock.
- 1:58:27Speaker 5: You transcended boundaries because the sprains sportsout the guy that
- 1:58:34Speaker 5: was I told you.
- 1:58:37Speaker 2: The one that said it, not me.
- 1:58:43Speaker 4: Huh. You got good grades in high school?
- 1:58:45Speaker 2: I did. I was in geek classes. I've told you
- 1:58:47Speaker 2: that many times.
- 1:58:48Speaker 3: That doesn't express I.
- 1:58:49Speaker 4: Was an underachiever.
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I did okay, but I could have done better.
- 1:58:55Speaker 4: I know that. I don't regret one thing neither.
- 1:59:00Speaker 2: I could have tried. At some point, I try, and
- 1:59:04Speaker 2: then I do good.
- 1:59:05Speaker 3: There's no reason to put more into it.
- 1:59:07Speaker 2: No, My goal was to do just enough to get
- 1:59:10Speaker 2: a B, just get the diploma and move on. Sometimes
- 1:59:12Speaker 2: I got a's because the class was easy enough that
- 1:59:14Speaker 2: I got an A anyway, without level. As long as
- 1:59:17Speaker 2: I didn't get a C, I was not in trouble
- 1:59:18Speaker 2: with my parents. I got a C. Yeah, I heard
- 1:59:21Speaker 2: about it. Yeah, Ginger did not take too kindly to sease.
- 1:59:24Speaker 3: Okay, degrees, baby.
- 1:59:26Speaker 1: I remember once, Uh this is grade school and Michael
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: Dela Cruz across the street. He was in He went
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: to public school, so he had just got his report card.
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: He got a bunch of seas and his father was
- 1:59:37Speaker 1: ripping him and I was like, I wanted.
- 1:59:39Speaker 4: To help my go.
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: That's the average. Oh he started yelling at me.
- 1:59:43Speaker 4: Well, you don't accept average in this appall.
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: I'm like, oh my god, I just shut my mouth.
- 1:59:49Speaker 2: Fred just feels like it's okay. Like the kid's father
- 1:59:52Speaker 2: is yelling at him, and this is the time.
- 1:59:55Speaker 3: I'm going to chime in.
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: I felt bad for him. Michael Dela Cruz, I had
- 2:00:03Speaker 1: your back.
- 2:00:04Speaker 4: All right.
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: That's going to be it for this edition Catch twenty
- 2:00:08Speaker 1: two time tomorrow, three o'clock, three o'clock tomorrow, So make
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: note of that if they want.
