- 0:05Welcome back to 2 Girls, 1 TBR. Your TBR is going to be
- 0:09dangerous. Today I'm Rebecca and I'm joined
- 0:12by my book besties Chelsea and Heather.
- 0:15This is your weekly guide to books that keep you up all
- 0:19night, from spicy romanticy, dark fantasy to those morally
- 0:23Gray book boyfriends we all know and love.
- 0:26How are you girls doing today? Good.
- 0:29Just waking up still. Same.
- 0:33I slept actually pretty good last night.
- 0:35The night before not so much, and my husband informed me the
- 0:38night before that he said I kept snoring.
- 0:42Or did I know that he said it? No, wait, he said.
- 0:46It took many hours from his sleep.
- 0:48Because I was sorry. Now remember, we do.
- 0:51Ever or like try to move you. Well, I remember he woke me up.
- 0:55Now remember, we sleep at the opposite ends of the bed because
- 0:58my back was bothering me. And then I I sleep better if I
- 1:01sleep at the end of the bed. He sleeps the other way, Right?
- 1:04Like this? It doesn't.
- 1:06Yeah, I saw. Yeah, my head's at the foot of
- 1:08the bed and he sleeps it that way.
- 1:10And so our our feet are, our middle sections are together,
- 1:14but our feet are at the opposite sides of each other because our
- 1:17mattress, even though it's a it's a really good mattress, but
- 1:20my husband's a really big guy and it, it wants to dip a little
- 1:23bit in the center now. And I feel like I always keep
- 1:28rolling to the center. And it, it was hurting my back
- 1:32because I couldn't sleep the way I want to do.
- 1:34And by sleeping the opposite way, you don't get on that.
- 1:37I don't get that. Yeah, but, but no, he scared me
- 1:40to death. He said something to me like I
- 1:42was in I must have been really sleeping, like hard sleeping
- 1:45obviously since he said that was snoring and and woke me up and I
- 1:49didn't know what was going on for a few minutes but he said I
- 1:51continued to snore for some reason.
- 1:55I must have been over tired Mama sleep.
- 1:58She's tired. I was tired but now.
- 2:00But last night I slept fantastic though.
- 2:02It's one of those kind of things.
- 2:03But I've been watching Bridgerton and I watched every
- 2:06single episode of it, and I also watched Queen Charlotte's mini
- 2:10Little Finish series. I did.
- 2:12Really fast. Yeah, I.
- 2:14Did that was a binge for sure. I still haven't finished the
- 2:18last season. You haven't.
- 2:19Finished last. Season.
- 2:21It's really cute. I didn't understand why people
- 2:23were saying they didn't like it. I really enjoyed it.
- 2:26I thought it was so good. And now again, now I have never
- 2:30watched it before so I didn't realize people were going like 2
- 2:33years between seasons and stuff. And this is going to be the
- 2:37first time in all the the seasons they had that a new one
- 2:40will be coming out at the beginning of 2027.
- 2:43So they're filming currently. So we're actually going to get
- 2:46back-to-back. Seasons over a year, I thought
- 2:49it was over. OK, so there is more.
- 2:51There. Well, there's a way.
- 2:52Where did you leave off then, Heather?
- 2:54Where Penelope will. I don't want to spoil it for
- 2:58people. They catch some money.
- 3:03So then, have you not seen the newest season?
- 3:07No, I think I watched the last episode of the season before.
- 3:13So you OK cuz this one's this is Benedict.
- 3:16Benedict. Benedict, Yeah, I haven't seen
- 3:18his. Season.
- 3:18It's cute, you'll like it. I think I loved it.
- 3:21Yeah, and now they've already. Here.
- 3:23So I I want to watch it, but yeah, they're like, wasn't
- 3:27Penelope going to get married? Like she she's engaged.
- 3:31Yeah, that's where I am at the end of that one.
- 3:34The Colin and Penelope. That's their love story.
- 3:39Yeah. Did you now?
- 3:40I didn't notice this at first, but each child, all their names,
- 3:44they go in alphabetical order. I don't.
- 3:47I never paid attention to that cuz.
- 3:50And then they already did the teaser for season 5 and it's
- 3:55going to be Francesca. OK.
- 3:58So it'll be interesting to. See that?
- 4:00That's the controversial season. Yes.
- 4:04Because they went away from the books.
- 4:07Can't you know, Canon and changed it up.
- 4:09But I'm excited for it. I'm sure it's gonna be good.
- 4:11I think I have not read the books, but usually when I don't
- 4:14read the books and then I watch the show, it's fine.
- 4:17Yeah, but it's like the opposite way.
- 4:19If I have read the books and then I watch the movie or the
- 4:22show, I'm like. Yeah, now, and that's the
- 4:24problem is somebody like me who hasn't read the books, I'm like,
- 4:27I don't care. I'm just excited for it to come
- 4:28out. But the people who read the
- 4:29books are like, that's not how it's supposed to be.
- 4:32And I. Get that?
- 4:32Yeah, I do too. I mean the same way when I read
- 4:35it so. Well, now I did watch a thing
- 4:38with the the author. It was an interview and stuff
- 4:41and they were talking to her about that.
- 4:43Because the show has veered, you know, from each book.
- 4:48You know, I mean, it's still the, the meat and bones are
- 4:52still there, but they have changed some things.
- 4:54And she said she loves what they're doing and she doesn't
- 4:56care. So the people that read the book
- 4:58shouldn't care either if the author herself doesn't care.
- 5:01Yeah. Yeah, I love.
- 5:03Don't think that it belongs to them because they're the reader
- 5:05and they need to calm down. I think they've done a
- 5:09beautiful. Extremist.
- 5:11With the the production and everything that they have done,
- 5:16I mean it's been. Beautiful.
- 5:18The sets are beautiful, the clothing is beautiful.
- 5:21I've I love the actors. They've all been great.
- 5:24Yeah, well, they said in the one, I think it was season 1,
- 5:28and one of the balls they set or between all the balls and
- 5:31different things that happened in season 1, they had over 200
- 5:35dresses and costumes and they have to make all these.
- 5:37And then the one of my favorite things, Eloise is my favorite.
- 5:41I have to tell you that she is my my spirit animal.
- 5:44I love her. I love her faces that she makes.
- 5:46She can't control it and I just love it.
- 5:48And Queen Charlotte's wigs. Yeah, I love her.
- 5:54Wigs. But now, have you watched her
- 5:57miniseries? Heather?
- 5:59The one where it talks with her? Oh, where?
- 6:00She's younger. Isn't that when she's like
- 6:02younger and like how she becomes queen?
- 6:05I haven't seen yes. It's so good, Heather.
- 6:08Yeah, it was. Yes, it's.
- 6:09Very emotional for me, like I I wanted to cry.
- 6:13Yeah, it was weird. I did cry on the last episode
- 6:16because at the last part of the last episode, it's such a
- 6:20touching moment and you'll see when you watch it and it's just
- 6:23like, it's, that's love. It's love, love.
- 6:26Yeah. It's beautiful.
- 6:28You have to watch it. It's really good.
- 6:29But but that is my that's what I've been watching on Netflix.
- 6:33Well, I can't watch it now because I've watched it all now.
- 6:36Find something else. Well, they do.
- 6:38Have their podcast watch. Emily in Paris, I love that
- 6:41show. Oh, I have to try.
- 6:43That's a good one. And Daniel can make fun of it as
- 6:45I watch it. Yeah.
- 6:46He did watch Bridgerton for a little while, yeah.
- 6:49But then he missed a whole bunch because I binged because I
- 6:52wasn't going to wait on him anymore.
- 6:55And because that's what he does to me.
- 6:58And then he's like, it's because I was in Season 4 and I watched
- 7:01a few of the last ones on the TV in our bedroom instead of just
- 7:04on my tablet. And he's like, I don't
- 7:06understand what's going on. He's like, he's like, I like
- 7:09Season 1 best. I said it's because you missed a
- 7:11whole bunch of context. And I told him, I said, if you
- 7:14watched it, I said you would understand.
- 7:16He's like, well, why don't we have the people from the first
- 7:18season? I said, because each season is
- 7:21somebody's love story. I said it's not focused on them
- 7:24anymore. But the girl who played Daphne,
- 7:26she has not been asked back. But she said if they ever did
- 7:30ask her back, she would be back. You know, on the show.
- 7:34That's sad that they don't. Want to continue?
- 7:37I get, I don't know. I've watched a recent interview
- 7:39with her and she said yes she would be.
- 7:41She would love to come back. Well, no, maybe that was the
- 7:43male. The male lead.
- 7:45What's his name? The one that played Anthony.
- 7:48No, the one that is her husband in the first season.
- 7:51Oh, the dude. The Simon he was, but I don't
- 7:54know what his real name was. Really.
- 7:55Yeah, I think he didn't want to come back.
- 7:58That's why in Season 2, you don't see him.
- 8:01Like she visits the family with her baby.
- 8:04Oh, without him, yeah. Well, then they did say that
- 8:08there is 2 possible miniseries because we did Charlotte, Queen
- 8:11Charlotte. They said they think they're
- 8:13going to do Lady Bridgerton and do her story.
- 8:17And it's also possibly Queen Charlotte's the the guy that's
- 8:23always 5 paces behind her. I can't remember what his name
- 8:25is. You know it's.
- 8:27Oh yes. They're going to do his love.
- 8:29Story His story was sad in Queen Charlotte.
- 8:33It was. We got a.
- 8:34Little bit and even like Lady Danbury, it's like sad.
- 8:37I love her, I love her, but I can see.
- 8:40How across the old lady you know that has like you will
- 8:45understand her so much attitude. I love her.
- 8:48But wait till you watch Queen Charlotte, you will understand
- 8:51her so much more. And they said it's possible they
- 8:54might do a possible story of her as well, even though we just got
- 8:59to see a little bit. That would be interesting.
- 9:01Hers was kind of. Darker Hatter, so I don't know.
- 9:05I don't know. Funny Lord Danberry gets into
- 9:09the gossip tear. She's like, who is this?
- 9:11We must find them. Yeah.
- 9:14Well, and see, when you watch Queen Charlotte's, you
- 9:17understand how she comes into the position she is in and how
- 9:21she ends up with Queen Charlotte and all that stuff.
- 9:25And then you also get to meet Lord Danbury.
- 9:28That's all I'm going to say. That's the face I make with him.
- 9:31That was the perfect. The actor, they got to play him.
- 9:37He was perfect for that role, absolutely.
- 9:40But you know, the thing that got me is that she had four children
- 9:44and lady, you know, because when we were watching season 1 and
- 9:49you see her, you know, talking with Simon and cuz you cuz I
- 9:53thought, well, maybe she was like a spinster kind of lady and
- 9:56she never had children. That's why, you know, it was her
- 9:59friend and she, you know, helped do things with Simon and stuff
- 10:03like that. But that is not the case.
- 10:06But as I have looked in the future, because I looked at the
- 10:09synopsises on the all eight books Richardson that comes back
- 10:15to play when we get to Hyacinth story.
- 10:18Is that the youngest? Sister, the youngest sister see
- 10:21every season. Remember all this like these
- 10:24names? I don't watch this in a long.
- 10:26Time. Once you watch the newest
- 10:28season, she's a little bit more prominent.
- 10:30She's more and more prominent. She's getting older and like
- 10:33she's coming into her and. Then before her.
- 10:38Then there's the younger brother, There's Gregory.
- 10:40Because see, when lady, Lady Bridgerton there when her, when
- 10:45her husband passed and stuff, because that has to do with when
- 10:48she was having Hyacinth hyacinth That's why Hyacinths her last
- 10:51baby. Yeah, she had eight babies.
- 10:54I, I, I think my favorite part of Lady Bridgerton, though, is
- 10:57how she, she doesn't know how to explain anything to her
- 11:00daughters. So they have no idea what's
- 11:04coming at them once they get married.
- 11:06And and then I don't remember what season.
- 11:10Is it season 4 or is it season 3 where Lady Featherton has to?
- 11:14Explain to her daughters, Yes, that's my favorite part of that
- 11:18episode. They're like when do stuff and
- 11:22she's like, no. She said well when he inserts
- 11:25and then and her daughter goes inserts what where?
- 11:29Yeah, like what? I didn't realize back then that
- 11:32they didn't explain things very well.
- 11:35Yeah, because they didn't want the women to know.
- 11:38They wanted it to be like, very innocent.
- 11:40Wait for the day, Yeah. I'd be quite so.
- 11:46That's what's kind of gross about it, is that they didn't
- 11:48like the the men wanted their women to not know what was going
- 11:51to happen to them. Like it's just kind of yeah,
- 11:54kind of ick. And then the men could do
- 11:55whatever and they could always take a mistress.
- 11:58And it doesn't necessarily mean they were married mistress.
- 12:01It just meant she was not necessarily of his, you know,
- 12:05you know, his status and stuff. Like the oldest son with his
- 12:11opera singer lady. Yeah.
- 12:12Because he really, he really loved her.
- 12:14When you watch that all season 1, you know, he was going to.
- 12:17I don't think he was necessarily going to give everything up for
- 12:21her, but he was going to bring her to society with him.
- 12:23And he was had those flowers and then she had that guy.
- 12:26And she just, she told him to let her go.
- 12:28Yeah. I think it's because she truly
- 12:30knew he never really could have her.
- 12:32Couldn't commit being the oldest son, yeah.
- 12:36He was. The Viscount is not what he is.
- 12:38Because he's the household, yeah.
- 12:40Because they all have different. Because there's the Duke, that's
- 12:43that's something or whatever. And then he, whatever their
- 12:47thing is, that's his title, whatever that is.
- 12:51And then Francesca's husband, he was something.
- 12:54I don't remember if he was. He was part of Parliament.
- 12:57He was part of part, but he had a title though.
- 12:59Was he? I don't think he.
- 13:00Was he a Lord, or was he? Well, they're all technically
- 13:03titled. Yeah, they're all yeah.
- 13:04OK. Oh yes, so Heather, you need to
- 13:07watch this so we can finish discussing this so you we can
- 13:10talk about the emotional damage of Queen Charlotte.
- 13:13Yes, I have stopped signing up for arcs so I can like, catch up
- 13:17on life. Yeah, and Arcs, like I'm beta
- 13:22reading right now and it's a big book, so it's going to be a
- 13:26while. And then I'm like ARC reading a
- 13:29few things that are due in June and then I want my TBR.
- 13:33So I'm like listening to like Fury Bound right now.
- 13:36I've got a lot of things going on.
- 13:38And then? What are you 2?
- 13:39Chaotic. What are you, 2 actually
- 13:41reading? Reading.
- 13:42Well, that's what you're doing. You're about.
- 13:44How about you, Chelsea? I finished the Ever King last
- 13:48night. So.
- 13:49Good, so good. And then I finally got through
- 13:55book four of the Blood and Ash series that I've been listening
- 13:58to. OK, yes, there's a.
- 13:59Problem. It's gruesome.
- 14:02No. Yes, there's a threesome.
- 14:04They finally. Get finally happens.
- 14:07Oh, that's good to know. So that happened and but now I'm
- 14:14on book five. I thought it was over, but I'm
- 14:16like, there's another book and then I'm going to start, oh, I
- 14:22was arc reading. Technically The Throne of Broken
- 14:25Gods by Amber V Nicole, the Gods and Monsters series #2 even
- 14:31though it's already out, it's technically an arc read.
- 14:34And then, yeah. And then I got to pull something
- 14:36from oh, I need to read Fury Bound.
- 14:38That's because that's the book club pick, so I got to start
- 14:40that. Yeah, that's good.
- 14:42Yeah. It's a lot.
- 14:44What about you, Rebecca? I'm reading Your Path is Sorrow
- 14:48by Parker Garner. I started it because for a
- 14:51little bit before we did her episode.
- 14:54It's very good. I really like her writing.
- 14:56You read it, it's like it you, you fly through it kind of
- 15:00thing. She's very visual, so when
- 15:03you're reading you really see the world.
- 15:06She's very good at world building.
- 15:09It's very good. She does such a great job of,
- 15:11like, giving you just enough in each chapter 2 and then, like,
- 15:15ending the chapter exactly where you need it to be to, like, get
- 15:19you like that angst of like, OK, now I need more.
- 15:22And then you're, like, into a different chapter and some other
- 15:26things could be happening. Like it.
- 15:28It just drives you in. Yeah.
- 15:32Until like it's very, it's very good.
- 15:34Even binge, Yeah. Very.
- 15:36Captivating. So now, once I get done with
- 15:39that and now I will of course continue on with her series.
- 15:45But the next one I'm going to read.
- 15:46After that I'm going to read this one here.
- 15:49Yeah. I had that out.
- 15:50Yeah, I need to read that too. So that will be my once I get
- 15:54done with this. I'm going to read this one
- 15:56because AG will be visiting us in June.
- 16:00And she's. Got it.
- 16:02I know. Everybody.
- 16:04And she's actually on vacation right now.
- 16:07I've been talking to her. She's been in Japan, yes, that's
- 16:10awesome. She's got some cool reels and
- 16:13she got bit by a deer. And what is it Nara, where that
- 16:17is in Japan? I don't know the name, but she
- 16:20was like, I guess there's rogue deer that you could feed.
- 16:24Yeah. And they were like coming at her
- 16:27and she had some kind of like feed for him.
- 16:29And she ended up like getting bit on her forearm by one.
- 16:32Yeah. It's like, I'm going to turn.
- 16:33She's you're going to shift. Yeah.
- 16:36And she's not. My sister has been there and she
- 16:38said the same thing. There's some that are very
- 16:40brazen and then you have the good deer that are very polite
- 16:43and bow to you. That's.
- 16:44Cool. And she's so and she's so soft
- 16:47spoken and stuff so I can't even imagine her when this is
- 16:50happening around her. But she's been going everywhere
- 16:53and, and she said her husband planned and he has all kinds of
- 16:57like tours and all this kind of stuff.
- 17:00I told her I said like the one tour.
- 17:02She, I think she told me it was yesterday, the day before it was
- 17:04a 7 hour tour. I told her I don't think I could
- 17:07do that, but I know Daniel wouldn't be able to.
- 17:09That's a all day. That's all Day, yeah.
- 17:11I mean part, I'm sure it's. I like that.
- 17:14Super fun. Chelsea travel a lot.
- 17:17And I mean, when I go and travel, I'm looking at all the
- 17:21history, all the culture, all the eating, all the drinking.
- 17:26Immerse me into this new place and I want to soak it all in,
- 17:31yeah. I get, I get panicked like if if
- 17:35I'm in a crowd of too many people, I have like a almost
- 17:39like panic attack kind of thing. And I don't do well in those
- 17:43kind of situations. So I kind of like when we go
- 17:46places, I like to go places where there isn't a lot of
- 17:48people, you know, that kind of thing.
- 17:50Like go to see a battlefield or go see an ancient Ice Age burial
- 17:55mound. I like to go.
- 17:56Look at those kind. Of things, but I don't want to
- 18:00like we have Kentucky Kingdom right here.
- 18:02We wanted to go to amusement park.
- 18:03It's right here. Do you think you will ever have
- 18:05me there or at hurricane bank? Absolutely not.
- 18:08Do you think I would go to the I don't know.
- 18:11They have all different things downtown Louisville.
- 18:13Am I going to go to them? No Am I going to go to down to
- 18:164th St. life? No.
- 18:17I just, I it's too many people I don't like.
- 18:20I don't even like going to the mall.
- 18:21I don't like going to Costco on the weekend because there's too
- 18:24many people aggravating. That's not fun, like at least
- 18:29like going to Disneyland or something that's you have fun
- 18:31entertainment there. Many people Costco groceries.
- 18:37I love going to Costco. It's like my mini vacation.
- 18:39But then again, a lot of times it's because I'm by myself and I
- 18:42don't go a lot of places by myself.
- 18:44I will not my people. I'm by myself.
- 18:46Like I hate bringing the kids there.

- 19:24like us thrive. So for all the visual spice and
- 19:27cover reveals, also follow us on Instagram at 2 girls 1 TBR cuz
- 19:32we do all kinds of fun clips and things like that.
- 19:35And also if you go to our Instagram, we do have a post and
- 19:38also it's a it's a if you go to our Lincoln bio, we have a
- 19:42thing. It's like for you to confess
- 19:44your bookish sins kind of thing. This stuff that you don't want
- 19:48to say out loud and get yelled at on book Instagram by people
- 19:51that don't agree with your opinion, you can do anonymously.
- 19:54We've actually gotten quite a few little responses so far.
- 19:58So so. Hopefully.
- 20:00So when are you going to share those?
- 20:02How does that work? Well, we're going to next
- 20:04episode Heather and I are going to be doing, we're going to be
- 20:06recording for our our tropes and stuff.
- 20:08And so we're going to be talking about some of those confessions.
- 20:12So, but I'm hoping as people do even more, we can do a several
- 20:17of them every episode and let people know some things.
- 20:21Yeah, because some of them have been really good and have been
- 20:24very interesting to say the least.
- 20:26I want to see these. All right.
- 20:30Also, my TBR has climbed again. I'm at 335 books.
- 20:35I went up, I went up six books because, well, things keep
- 20:39coming out and I keep seeing stuff and so I keep adding.
- 20:42Them I know. To my list have has your list
- 20:46have they been staying or have you has yours been climbing as
- 20:50well? Yeah, mine climbed a little bit,
- 20:52but not much. I'm trying to like read as much
- 20:56off of it as possible. Yeah.
- 20:58I think the problem is more that it stays stagnant because we
- 21:01keep picking up arcs and stuff. So it just, yeah.
- 21:05I'm a 300 and some it's going to take me a bit to go through
- 21:08them. Yeah.
- 21:09But I have found a couple really good ones.
- 21:11And then of course I'm excited about I think quarter three and
- 21:14quarter four are going to be amazing this year from just
- 21:17everything that's coming out. I have a lot of pre-orders right
- 21:20now. I don't think I have anything
- 21:22coming in June, but I know in July, August, September, October
- 21:27I have I have pre-orders. Are you guys going to pre-order
- 21:31book 3IN Quicksilver? I don't know whatever that
- 21:34series is called. I haven't even heard anything
- 21:37about it. I haven't read Brimstone yet.
- 21:39I have brimstone staying on my shelf.
- 21:40I haven't. Had it yet?
- 21:41No, I haven't read it SO. But Book 3 does come out in
- 21:45November, but there is No title to it yet.
- 21:48But people are kind of people got weird with brimstone, you
- 21:52know, because I don't know is it because of the actual story?
- 21:55Is it because when it went through edit they they messed up
- 22:00like a couple things that didn't made it not make sense.
- 22:03But you read it, Heather, Yes. Yeah, I didn't notice that
- 22:06stuff, but I also listened to it.
- 22:09So maybe that was overseen or that could be, I don't recall
- 22:15that. I mean, Anthony Palmini can make
- 22:18anything sound good, whether the story makes sense or not.
- 22:21Like, yes, Sir, yes, carry on. Was there?
- 22:24Yes, I'm sorry, but Carrion drives that story.
- 22:31I think he's. Hilarious.
- 22:33The best, yeah, I'm excited for, I think in the third book like
- 22:38that's that'll be his arc is in the third book.
- 22:41I'm excited for him. And I believe it's only a
- 22:44trilogy. I think this book 3 is the last
- 22:47book. I don't think it's going to
- 22:48continue on. I don't know.
- 22:50I'm. Like I'm contemplating it.
- 22:53Yeah, I'm OK with that. I think I like this.
- 22:58I like it, but I'm not, like, in love with it.
- 23:01Like you have to read that. Story.
- 23:03I loved Quicksilver. I absolutely, absolutely love
- 23:06that story, but I don't know, I don't know if it's just because
- 23:12of like I've seen the the polarization of it or you know,
- 23:17you know, if that's tainting my thoughts about it, but I don't
- 23:22know. We'll have to.
- 23:24We'll see if it when it gets closer to when book 3 comes out.
- 23:29I think that might be when I'll read Brimstone.
- 23:31Yeah, there's a few series that I have started and I still have
- 23:36not completed because I'm like Oh well there's another like 2
- 23:40books or something. Let me not grab at that right
- 23:43away. So with like When the Moon
- 23:46Hatched, I really want to read that series, but then Book 2
- 23:50just came out or is coming out and, you know, then I think
- 23:55there's a third book and who knows how long that's going to
- 23:57take. So I don't know.
- 23:59I might wait on that too. Yeah.
- 24:01So yeah, there's a lot that I'm just like, I'm collecting them
- 24:04and I'm buying them, but they're just going to sit there until
- 24:08it's. Completed.
- 24:10Yeah, yeah, yeah. This is This is why I have not
- 24:12read 4th Wing, because I'm going to wait.
- 24:15I'm going to wait it out. Hopefully I can wait it out, but
- 24:18I just have so many to read, you know, so I it can wait.
- 24:24I do want to read The Ashes of Thesmar.
- 24:28I want to get that read. I really do want to read Throne
- 24:30of Glass before, before a guitar comes out there.
- 24:34A guitar 6 comes out. Yeah, that's a.
- 24:37Long. Series girlfriend.
- 24:40I know, and that's the problem. So I might just just be like,
- 24:44you know, I write the other two. Too.
- 24:46Do you ever do audiobooks? I do.
- 24:48Not do audiobooks. You should have dabble in that.
- 24:51Yeah, you. Should really try think.
- 24:53About it. Think about.
- 24:54It like while you're cooking or doing your chores like your deep
- 24:57cleaning that you do and stuff like just throw the headphones
- 25:01on. I might do that, maybe this
- 25:04summer while I mow my grass. Yeah, that's when I listed to my
- 25:07murder podcast. There's not graphic audio, is
- 25:10there? Graphic audio of Throne of
- 25:11Glass. OK, so that was supposed to come
- 25:13out like a year and a half ago. I ordered it on audible and they
- 25:17keep pushing it and then it was supposed to come out this August
- 25:19and they pushed it again to the summer but.
- 25:22I've heard that the regular audio's good.
- 25:24Yeah, Yeah. So even if you just did that,
- 25:28I'm sure. And they're like, I will do that
- 25:30for that one. They're real cheap, usually on
- 25:33sale so. Excited though, I'm I'm super
- 25:36excited for for book 6 to see where it goes, to see what our
- 25:40theories are and I've been sending Chelsea new theories.
- 25:44So buckle up everyone. I'm hoping to have another
- 25:47Achtar miniseries coming because there's people have been coming
- 25:51up with some even more interesting thing, things that
- 25:54we hadn't even thought about, and it has made me go.
- 25:57That's all I'm going to say. All right, now let's talk real
- 26:03quick about our poison and potion.
- 26:06It's time. Today we are leaning into the
- 26:08Rose moon mermaid lore of two special blends because we are
- 26:12bringing Heidi Adams on to deal with her book.
- 26:14So the first one is the Lunar Tide, and that's the alcoholic
- 26:20one, and the mocktail is the Meridian.
- 26:23Is that how you say that? Meridian.
- 26:25Meridian Pearl. So those will be up on our on
- 26:30our Instagram under Sips. So if you want to make those,
- 26:32they do look like they'd be fancy.
- 26:34And Heather, I do hope at some point you can make these.
- 26:37I know I'm trying to gather ingredients.
- 26:40I just, it's really hard to take 3 kids into an ABC store.
- 26:45Yeah, liquor store. There's a lot of glass things.
- 26:48Yeah. That makes me nervous.
- 26:51Yeah, well, I just can't imagine like A-12 and A5 year old like
- 26:56tagging a lot liquor store with me.
- 26:59So yeah, I don't go there often, but you know, there's always
- 27:05Amazon. Maybe maybe they can help me
- 27:07out, I guess. Amazon does sell a lot of
- 27:11things. Can you order alcohol over
- 27:13Amazon? I don't know.
- 27:14I know there are some services that allow wine and beer to be
- 27:20delivered, but liquor is so strange in the South and like,
- 27:25the Bible Belt States and stuff. California, they'd be like, fuck
- 27:29yeah, I'm coming to your house. Can I party with you too?
- 27:33Gosh, I miss California grocery stores.
- 27:36And you could like go in and grab like a handle of like any
- 27:40time of day, anything, any time of day, every day.
- 27:45And you just grab, I mean, and it's like $17.00, right?
- 27:48Like out here handle is like 35 bucks really.
- 27:52So yeah, it's bad. Like.
- 27:55They have to pay attention. To the liquor here.
- 27:58It's, it's weird in Kentucky because I've told you there's
- 28:01dry County, so you can't buy any alcohol Sundays.
- 28:05If you're here in the county that we live in, you can buy
- 28:09liquor. But if you go into the county
- 28:12right next to us, you can't buy liquor until like, like, no, no,
- 28:16you're like one in the afternoon.
- 28:18You have to get past church, past the church time.
- 28:21Yes. There's I live in a completely
- 28:23different world from you guys. This is.
- 28:25I can't even believe that. Yeah, but now, but you can buy
- 28:30wine and stuff like say I go to Kroger, you can go, they have
- 28:34it. It's it's part of Kroger, but
- 28:35it's not inside Kroger. It's like a separate little
- 28:38thing. And that's where you can go buy
- 28:39all your wines. And I think they have every
- 28:42Kroger sells everything the grocery stores have.
- 28:46Wine and beer, but usually not liquor.
- 28:48You have to. Costco does though.
- 28:50Store to go to liquor yeah, Costco will but it and then in
- 28:56Kansas when I lived there for a while they would only sell in
- 29:01the grocery store like beer that was like 2 1/2 percent or
- 29:05something like that instead of like it was like half of the
- 29:08percentage of what a regular beer would be so.
- 29:10That's that's weird too, yeah. So unless you went to the liquor
- 29:13store in Kansas, you could get the full alcoholic beverage.
- 29:17But if you went to the grocery store and bought beer, it was a
- 29:20different percentage. Isn't that straight?
- 29:23I mean just. Like now, you can buy beer here.
- 29:25We'll come up with in different counties and States and stuff.
- 29:27It's like so weird. Why?
- 29:29Are you? Getting this so hard, I don't
- 29:31know, Yeah. You can buy beer like go to
- 29:34Kroger, go to Walmart, go any of those.
- 29:36You can buy 6 packs and you can buy you can buy 1230 packs.
- 29:41Oh, no, there are five you can buy the the big tall ones.
- 29:46You know what I'm talking about the big tall boy beers, you
- 29:48know, those really big ones and some of them are like 810% and
- 29:51you can buy those at Walmart that here.
- 29:53But now we're us from in Pennsylvania, you couldn't buy
- 29:56any alcohol in the grocery store.
- 29:58And if you wanted to buy beer, you had to go to the
- 30:01distribution center and you'd have to buy in cases of beer 24
- 30:05or more. And then if you wanted hard
- 30:07liquor of any kind or wine, doesn't matter, all of that, you
- 30:11had to go to the the Wine and Spirit store.
- 30:14So Pennsylvania is very restrictive and weird, even
- 30:18though people drink like, fish up there.
- 30:21But here in Kentucky, you can get it.
- 30:23And then Bud Light is the most popular beer here.
- 30:26But my husband does not drink that.
- 30:28He does not. I'm, of course, like drinking
- 30:31water. Yeah.
- 30:32Chorus Family. I don't drink beer at all.
- 30:35I don't like it. I know.
- 30:37I just don't like it's like every time I drink it, I do this
- 30:40face every time I take a sip of it.
- 30:41Craft beers, really. I loved when brewery like
- 30:46microbrewery started popping up. That was my jam before.
- 30:49Kids like going to the new microbrewery, trying all their
- 30:52new craft beers that they're making, and then they usually
- 30:55had like phenomenal food like or food trucks that pastimes, you
- 31:00know? See, I just, I have to have
- 31:02sweet, like dessert wines with my wine coolers.
- 31:06That's what I like. But I will drink, I will do
- 31:08mixed drinks. I will drink whiskey and stuff
- 31:10like that. But beer, not a fan.
- 31:13But like, but now my husband gets like German beer.
- 31:16Like when it's Oktoberfest starting in like the end of July
- 31:19and August, you can start getting it.
- 31:22Yeah, I'll drink it a little bit.
- 31:23I'll drink that because it's a different.
- 31:25Taste multi year, yeah. And, and it doesn't give me like
- 31:29a headache or anything like that.
- 31:30I can't drink champagne. Champagne gives me a headache.
- 31:33Yeah. I'm going to drink again real
- 31:35quick. He's whining, so he needs It's
- 31:37a. Baby or the baby?
- 31:39I love Chelsea's little dog there.
- 31:41He's just so sweet. Has your children look to Tooth
- 31:44from the window yet? I think hubby brought them
- 31:46somewhere. I have not heard them.
- 31:48Oh, I don't know where they had went.
- 31:50The drama. Because I'm surprised they don't
- 31:52have their their nose up to the glass going.
- 31:55I know. Well, they and then they take
- 31:58their monster trucks and they go up and down the glass window
- 32:00pane. Oh my God, scratch the glass.
- 32:06You'll have to do that fancy stained glass.
- 32:09I already warned my husband, I said because we know we we have
- 32:13ADHD here. And so I started a hobby and I
- 32:16usually don't finish. And I'm actually very proud that
- 32:18I finished my embroidery finally.
- 32:20So I did it. It is that one thing has been
- 32:24completed and then I was like my next one is going to be the
- 32:27stained glass painting. It's like, so if you see a $50
- 32:32charge for paint, that's what it is.
- 32:34I'm going to start I. Love that.
- 32:37He's like, so. Happy that you brought him in,
- 32:39Daddy, you forget what you said his name is.
- 32:43Parker. Parker, Yeah.
- 32:45He's just such a good boy. I know.
- 32:47OK, all right. He's obsessed.
- 32:50We're obsessed with each other. He's a sweet baby.
- 32:52Yes, sweet all. Right.
- 32:53Well, we'll be right back, everyone.
- 32:56I'm going to go get Heidi, so we'll be back in a few moments.
- 33:01Hey, welcome, Heidi Adams, how are you today?
- 33:06Welcome to the podcast. Thank you.
- 33:08I'm fantastic. So happy to be there.
- 33:10Yes, we're excited to get talking about all your books and
- 33:14maybe some new news. Is that what I heard?
- 33:17Perhaps. Perhaps.
- 33:19Perhaps. You know me, I like my secrets,
- 33:21so welcome. Now, now, you were, you wrote.
- 33:27When we were doing our little questionnaire thing.
- 33:30You said that you do nightly episodes of the Game of Thrones.
- 33:36Are you still watching them? I know because I finished.
- 33:39I caught up there, you know, right.
- 33:41Yeah, I'm all caught up. It was my second.
- 33:43Game of Thrones is one of my favorite shows, and I and my
- 33:46husband and I decided to do a complete rewatch.
- 33:49Well, he fell asleep every night.
- 33:51So it was basically just to be doing the say the rewatch.
- 33:55But I did I was watching 1A night and it took it took a
- 33:59little quite a long time, but now I'm I'm caught up and it's
- 34:04amazing when you do that with a show, you know, if you reread a
- 34:07book for a second time that you love or you rewatch a show or a
- 34:09movie. I caught so many other things
- 34:13that I never noticed the first time around, especially with
- 34:16House of the dragon, the prequel and things like that.
- 34:19And you know, Night of the Seven Kingdoms, that other spin offs
- 34:22they have that that's all in that world.
- 34:24And I was like, Oh my God, that's what they're talking
- 34:26about. I had no idea the first time.
- 34:28I know I watched it. Yeah, I've.
- 34:30Never watched it. You haven't.
- 34:34It's so good. On my first my husband and I
- 34:37have been watching it also, but we took a break after the Red
- 34:40Wedding because it was really hard to watch it.
- 34:44It wasn't. It's funny because actually this
- 34:46second time around there's about 5 parts where I was like, Nope,
- 34:50not watching that. And I, I knew and that was one
- 34:52of the things I skipped over and there was like 5 other parts
- 34:56that I knew were coming and, and, and it was kind of like a
- 34:59blessing in disguise that I was like, we're not watching that.
- 35:01So yeah, that was nice. Skip all over it.
- 35:05Oh, yeah, We both like looked at each other after that episode
- 35:08ended and our both of our droughts were like, what did we
- 35:11just watch? And so we've taken a little bit
- 35:13of a break. It's.
- 35:15What season is that in? 4-3 or four, it's early on.
- 35:20It is still We need to get third, we need to get.
- 35:23Back How many seasons are there? 7888.
- 35:26Isn't there 878? 6.
- 35:30I think there's eight, I think, I honestly think there's 8
- 35:32because the, the last season in my brain, I wasn't really a fan
- 35:36of the last season except for the 1st 2 episodes.
- 35:38So I kind of in my, in my mind, in my mind, the show ends after
- 35:42a particular part and then I like like to erase the last like
- 35:465 episodes after that or something because I just, I
- 35:49didn't like because I didn't, they went off the book.
- 35:51So the books, they, you know, the show passed the book.
- 35:54So you know, they wrote it their own way.
- 35:56And I yeah, really a fan. My brother-in-law was telling me
- 35:59about that this weekend because he read all the books and then
- 36:02watched it. And he was telling me that a lot
- 36:03of it, especially the Red Wedding part, he's like, that's
- 36:06does not happen that way in the books.
- 36:08And I was like, oh, well, that's good to know.
- 36:09Maybe I could actually read the book then.
- 36:12Yeah. I never read the book so.
- 36:14I read. I.
- 36:16Read the first one and then audio book for the 2nd and I
- 36:19have to say the first two books are exactly.
- 36:23I mean with like some added like detail and conversation and of
- 36:26course. But like, they're pretty spot on
- 36:29to the show. OK, what I remember.
- 36:32But then I didn't continue because then I was like, well,
- 36:36they're very similar. So you just.
- 36:37But I know that there's. Yeah.
- 36:40But I know people that have read it are like, know there's more
- 36:43characters involved and there's like different kind of clans
- 36:47and, you know, territories and wars going on and stuff like
- 36:52that. So there is more than what we
- 36:54see. And follows like follow certain
- 36:57characters, right? Like to different like there's
- 36:59more, yeah. Yeah, like I guess Arya in the
- 37:02second book has more details, like more of her story where I
- 37:08think like in the episodes it's kind of very like he or she is
- 37:12doing this little part like the main parts in the book.
- 37:16But there is more. For.
- 37:17A while, right? Yeah.
- 37:19So she has more of a story about you.
- 37:22That's cool. Well let me ask you this now.
- 37:24Like with 4th wing, 4th wing is going to have their it's TV
- 37:29adaptation or whatever Chelsea knows.
- 37:31About this. Now do do we think it's going to
- 37:35be as is it going to be as good as the books or do you think
- 37:39it's going to? What's your thoughts?
- 37:42We have to hope. We have to hope that it's going
- 37:44to be as good as stuff. I don't know.
- 37:45I see, I always just watch the show.
- 37:49I love the first two books I haven't read Onyx Storm is the
- 37:53third one right? Yeah, yeah.
- 37:55That's. The third, OK I have not read
- 37:57that one yet. I read the first two, loved
- 37:59them. I have Onyx Storm ready to go
- 38:01but I might have to do like a recap somehow.
- 38:04Like the clean look at the summary of the 1st 2 before I
- 38:07started. But man, I hope, I hope they,
- 38:12it'll be really interesting. I think a lot of it's going to
- 38:14come down to casting. I think they really have to do
- 38:16the right casting. Yes, for.
- 38:18That I'm not worried. I'm not worried about them
- 38:20creating the world. Like I'm sure they're going to
- 38:23do a great job of that, but it's got to be, I kind of hope that
- 38:28they do like no name people in a way.
- 38:30I didn't do. Yeah, no pressure on like, but
- 38:34that guy reminds me of this or this girl says things this way
- 38:38and it irks me. And yeah, yeah, it might be best
- 38:42just to like, have newbies, yeah.
- 38:44Well didn't they say Quicksilver is going to have an adaptation
- 38:48as well? Yeah, really, there's a.
- 38:51Lot of them coming out, yeah. I mean, and you also have to
- 38:54remember some of these or they say like they've made deals and
- 38:57stuff, but we're not going to see them for years.
- 39:00Produced. If ever.
- 39:01Right. Yeah.
- 39:02I know Raven Kennedy, she's going to have the plate of
- 39:05prisoner. I don't know when it's going to
- 39:07be interesting. I don't know how they they're
- 39:09going to do that one. I don't want to CG.
- 39:13Yeah. All I can say is they better
- 39:15have a very delightful slate Ravager is all I can say.
- 39:18I see that's a tough role. Who's going to do that?
- 39:22It's a lot of big shoes to fill with these characters.
- 39:25That's the hardest part. Well, I was listening to her, to
- 39:29her, she, you know, did something on Instagram and that
- 39:32she's, she has all that going on.
- 39:34Then she has her duet coming out, the Pied Piper that comes
- 39:38out in January, the first one and then the second one.
- 39:41And then she has, I think she's working on a second duet and
- 39:45then she said she's going to be doing a spin off now.
- 39:48I believe that's going to be the spin off the brother.
- 39:52President. Yeah.
- 39:53And then we just got to wait for Rose Moon to hit the screens
- 39:56because, I mean, we've got fan casts ready to go, that's what.
- 40:01One day that would be. That's my.
- 40:04Ultimate goal. I was going to ask, you know,
- 40:07when when are we going to an adaption for your books here?
- 40:12I you know, I've got I have to sell a lot more books for that
- 40:16to happen. But like that, hopefully it's
- 40:19going in the in the right direction with it's my narrator
- 40:24reveal coming up, but we'll see. We'll see if that hopefully that
- 40:28kind of I don't know, but no, I I am.
- 40:31That is my goal, my goal. My goal is to one day hopefully
- 40:34get the Prophecy of Late series into a film adaption.
- 40:36That would be awesome. But that would be amazing.
- 40:39I have quite a lot, quite a lot, you know, quite, quite a roads
- 40:43to travel still to get there, but that is my ultimate.
- 40:46Goal. But I really like like the way
- 40:49that you write. I feel like it would be a very
- 40:51easy thing to do because because of the way you've set it up.
- 40:56So Carter Clint though, they're big shoes to fill.
- 40:59Once again another another male main character that has big
- 41:02shoes but. What would?
- 41:05You want I could totally see it in my mind when I'm reading it
- 41:08so. Now, would you want it to be
- 41:11like a series or would you like it to be like a movie?
- 41:14What what way would you love to be see it?
- 41:18If it does become, you know, an adaptation of your books, which
- 41:22would you prefer? I probably prefer a series, but
- 41:27I would take either one. But yeah, yeah, you'd have to do
- 41:31like, like you'd have to be like Twilight or Harry Potter where
- 41:34you have all the different movies.
- 41:36But probably, I guess a series. But I mean either way, either
- 41:40way would be pretty amazing. Yeah, actually, you know what,
- 41:43that's a good. I like how you said that, cuz
- 41:45like each book, as long as it had its own movie, it would be
- 41:48totally good. Yeah.
- 41:50How many books in the series? That is a good question.
- 41:54It's a good question. It's definitely going to be OK.
- 41:59So Rose Moon, they'll definitely be the book after Rose Moon and
- 42:03a book after Rose Moon. So they'll definitely be 3,
- 42:06potentially 4, because I don't know if I can get everything
- 42:09into that third book. And if I do, it probably be like
- 42:12a monster of a book or I might have to divide it into two.
- 42:15Those are all the series of, well, actually.
- 42:18And Poppy Joe will be getting his own prequel and I'm not sure
- 42:21what I'm going to be writing that it's not happening anytime
- 42:23soon. But one character, which I'm not
- 42:26going to say, is going to get their own novella and then I'm
- 42:31going to. So it'll be two novellas, 3 to 4
- 42:33books and then a prequel of Poppy Joes.
- 42:35So that's going to be the whole Owens crash is going into that
- 42:39world. Too.
- 42:40Yeah, but that that's kind of like a separate story, but it's
- 42:44in that universe with Spencer and Amanda will be getting a
- 42:47second full length novel because there's stories in novella, but
- 42:50it'll cross into that universe. Yeah, it's a pretty big.
- 42:54Universe. Crash hit audible in mid-april,
- 42:56so that's exciting. It did say.
- 42:59Too. Oh my gosh, I need to go
- 43:01download that right now. Yeah, I know it's Audible, but
- 43:05you have another one coming, right?
- 43:08Oh yeah, that's one can. We talk.
- 43:12I love that. We keep teasing it.
- 43:15Eventually, we're going to talk about it.
- 43:17We can, because yes, Rose Moon is getting its own.
- 43:22Yes, Rose Moon's getting an audio book.
- 43:24And. I did. 2.
- 43:27Of the three narrator reveals so far, Carmen Chantelle is one of
- 43:33the narrators. It's it's done it's a multicast,
- 43:36but it's done in like do well, I guess I can't say Duet, but it's
- 43:39technically a multicast, but it would you know, it is like duet
- 43:42style, but there's three different narrators.
- 43:44And I just announced Aria Jacobs is my other female main
- 43:49character. And then I haven't announced it
- 43:52yet, but, but when this comes on, it would have.
- 43:54I would have announced it yesterday, I believe.
- 43:56But I got Charles Vandervart from the TV show Outlander, who
- 44:01was my inspiration for Carter Quinn to actually play him in
- 44:07the audio books. That is.
- 44:08So I'm kind of yeah, on cloud nine.
- 44:12I've known about this since October, but I haven't been able
- 44:15to say anything. So it's so.
- 44:18Exciting. That's.
- 44:19Amazing. And do you know how hard it is,
- 44:21Heidi, to like, keep my mouth shut?
- 44:23It has been so hard because it's so exciting.
- 44:28It's, it's, it's, yeah, I, I still like, I, I'm still, I
- 44:32don't know if I'll ever get over the disbelief of it all, but
- 44:35I've had several months now to kind of like try to get over it.
- 44:39But yeah, it's, it's really kind of surreal.
- 44:42So it's I, yeah, I guess I just announced it yesterday and now
- 44:47it's out in the world. So we're, we're aiming to have
- 44:51that come out beginning of October.
- 44:55And I hope, yeah. And I hope there's no delays in
- 44:57it because Sarah J Moss's book comes out towards the end.
- 45:00It was funny because I was either going to release in
- 45:02October or January. And of course that's when her
- 45:04second book comes out. So like, so like I, I, I don't
- 45:08know, like if there's any hold UPS that might have to get
- 45:10pushed to February, I guess to let us know that everything is
- 45:13on time and it, it comes out the beginning of October.
- 45:17Now I was going to say, like, would November even be the worst
- 45:21thing? Probably if you have to wait.
- 45:24Probably could. I know a lot of people don't
- 45:26like to release in November unless if it's like a like a
- 45:29holiday novella that makes. Sense.
- 45:33So that would be my only hesitation in doing that.
- 45:37It's not out of the realm of possibility, but it.
- 45:41Makes sense though yeah, SGM is probably smart.
- 45:45SGM has put a lot of wrenches in people's plans.
- 45:48I have noticed here over the last few weeks talking to
- 45:51different authors. So many dates are changing and
- 45:55yeah. Wait.
- 45:57It's, I know. I do want to have much power as
- 46:00an author. Wow, it's like, amazing.
- 46:02Yeah, Heidi, will you talk about the story about Charles doing
- 46:08the role? Because I remember from the
- 46:10beginning how you had met him, right.
- 46:12And then it was like, we did that post like a bunch of us
- 46:16wrote on her post to like, hype it up to be like.
- 46:18He would be a great. Carter And so tell us from your
- 46:22side like what that was like in the beginning, OK.
- 46:25This was it's kind of a crazy story, so I'll just tell you how
- 46:30he came to be as my cardboard Quinn.
- 46:32I'm I'm a huge Outlander fan and I was watching Outlander.
- 46:35Do either of any of you guys watch Outlander?
- 46:38Think I've seen the first episode I know of how they meet.
- 46:41I just got Netflix so I I have it on my list we're behind.
- 46:47So I was watching Outlander and I wrote Rose Moon.
- 46:51Oh my goodness. I actually wrote it back in
- 46:542007. So it was a really long time ago
- 46:57and I kind of wrote it, kind of outlined it.
- 46:59It was just like a just got the story down on paper.
- 47:02And I never had like a clear image for Carter when I wrote
- 47:07it. And I like to have that, like I
- 47:09like to have a complete visual of it.
- 47:11If it's an actor, if it's a model, it's just someone I know
- 47:14in my life. Like I just like to work with
- 47:16that. And I never had it.
- 47:18I had a very distinct, I knew his personality exactly and I
- 47:22could describe him on paper like, you know, I could say like
- 47:26he's 63, he's this, he's that, you know, whatever, I can say
- 47:30all that, but I didn't have that clear image.
- 47:32And I was watching Outlander and they flashed on the screen.
- 47:36Who is going to play William adult William Ransom, who's
- 47:41Jamie Fraser's son. And it's just like this.
- 47:43It wasn't even the best picture of him.
- 47:45He had like the Tri cod like hat on and or is it tripod?
- 47:50Isn't that how you say it? Is that what it is the little
- 47:52like? Yeah.
- 47:53Isn't that what it's called? Like a pirate hat?
- 47:55Yeah, yeah. That's what it's called, right?
- 47:58I was like the pointy hat and it wasn't.
- 48:02I couldn't see his hair. I didn't really know what he
- 48:04looked like as an actor, but there's something about him that
- 48:08gave me such the vibe of Carter and I knew what he had to look
- 48:11like because he's supposed to look like Jamie Frazier.
- 48:14There's so they had a cast of one similar and look.
- 48:17So I went on his IG page and I was like, that's my Carter.
- 48:22And so I had this crazy idea. You know, it was funny.
- 48:25I was like telling all my friends, like authors, it's
- 48:28funny when you get like an inspiration.
- 48:29We always send it to each other like this is my, you know, who
- 48:32is my, you know, some sense sending his picture to all my
- 48:35friends, like, you know, and then I had this crazy idea
- 48:38because I, I live in Pennsylvania and there's this
- 48:41event called Fraser's Ridge Homecoming, which is in like the
- 48:44hills of North Carolina. And he was the guest for the
- 48:48weekend and I was like, Oh my God, I had this crazy idea.
- 48:51I took my best friend who was also a huge Outlander fan.
- 48:55And I'm like, I'm going to go to an Outlander event that I've
- 48:58never been to or experienced. I'm going to take my best friend
- 49:01and I'm going to meet the MMC like the inspiration for my MMC.
- 49:06And this is the first time I met him.
- 49:07I and he was out and about. So you got to talk to him a
- 49:10little bit more than just like your formal meet and greet.
- 49:14And at that time, Roseman wasn't published.
- 49:17Excuse me. So I, I printed it from Staples
- 49:21and I made a spiral bound copy and I handed it to him and I,
- 49:25and I had him sign mine and I signed his and I gave it to him
- 49:29and I was like, why? You're a little inspiration for
- 49:32Carter Quinn. And one day my goal is to have
- 49:34you play him in the film adaption.
- 49:36So this was three years ago now. I guess it would be 3 years ago.
- 49:40And so then two years later he was the the guest there again,
- 49:45which was this past October. So I had the Rosen, it's
- 49:49published at this point. So I brought in the actual hard
- 49:51copy. It was awesome because he
- 49:53remembered me and he's like, oh, I left your script at Richard
- 49:56Rankin's house, who is one of the cast from Outlander who
- 49:59lives in Scotland, and he's like, that's where it is.
- 50:02So of course, everyone lost their mind from the convention
- 50:04and told them like Roger Mack has my script now.
- 50:07So I gave him my hardback copy and I'm like, it's published
- 50:12now. I still have the same goal and I
- 50:15need an audio book made and I really want I really want you to
- 50:18do. And so then I contacted his
- 50:22agent. He acted really interested, but
- 50:24you're like, I didn't know like, you know, like their that's kind
- 50:28of like their, like that's their job is to make you feel special
- 50:31and to make me like that. So I'm like, he could just be
- 50:33telling me that he's interested and then I contact his agent and
- 50:36I never hear anything ever yet, you know, so I didn't have any
- 50:40expectations. I'm like, this is super cool.
- 50:41So soon as I got back, I contacted his agent and my phone
- 50:46like a minute later I got a phone call from Toronto and I
- 50:50was like, no. And I was totally unprepared.
- 50:53I knew nothing about audiobooks, had nothing.
- 50:57And I'm like talking to his like agent about this audiobook and
- 51:01I'm like, oh, I had no idea what to say it.
- 51:03Was. Crazy and like the conversation
- 51:06is like a blur. I could like barely remember it,
- 51:09but yes, so that was in October and things just kept going and
- 51:14going and I knew pretty quickly that he was going to do it.
- 51:18And so now it's happening so so. That's neat.
- 51:22Wow. Wow.
- 51:24Connections, man. I mean, dreams do come true.
- 51:27Yeah. Right.
- 51:28So, you know, that's exciting. I love it.
- 51:31That's not, if that's not inspiration to just like put
- 51:34yourself out there and try. I don't know what is that's so.
- 51:39So yeah. I love that you went, you were
- 51:41like and you went where he was at and you, you did I, I love
- 51:45it. I and that's fantastic.
- 51:48But you will be this OK out. There, I know you and and I knew
- 51:53it was really serious like when he sent me his like 6 minute
- 51:58audition like he really needed to audition but he did he played
- 52:03Carter Quinn and it's like 6 minutes long and I think I
- 52:06almost passed out when I heard it because it's it's like the
- 52:09character like even his voice that's who I created him also.
- 52:13Excuse me so to hear that yeah it was really, really weird.
- 52:17It was like I was like crazy. So in the best way.
- 52:20So, so yeah, that's happening. And he's doing the audio book
- 52:24and I've announced it yesterday, yeah.
- 52:27I saw that, yeah. I saw that, yeah.
- 52:31I did I that's. Pretty I love that.
- 52:35That's that's super exciting for you and I'm I'm super that's
- 52:39just, you know, when you see these kind of things happen and
- 52:42and just like just everything that you put into it and then
- 52:45you went and it worked out. That's like like Chelsea said,
- 52:48that's inspiration right there for people to reach for their
- 52:52goals. I mean I still pinching myself
- 52:54like everyday this is really happening.
- 52:57I I am and it's funny because yeah, I do the reveal on
- 53:01Wednesday, today's Sunday. So I have like my three day
- 53:05countdown going in my little stories and on IG and it's just,
- 53:10it's crazy. Like I, it's so weird.
- 53:13I've, I've no idea what's like what, you know, what to expect
- 53:16and how like what's going to, I'm just enjoying the ride like
- 53:18as much as I can. So it's very cool.
- 53:21I'm very and I'm super honored that he decided to do this
- 53:25because Carter is such an important character to me.
- 53:30I, I, I think with the, however many MMCS that I write and fall
- 53:35in love with, I think Carter is always going to be my favorite
- 53:40because of like what he represents to me.
- 53:43He's like, well, he's a combination of like 3
- 53:46personalities that are important to me as well as he's like the
- 53:49person I strive to be like, I wish I could be.
- 53:52So it's, he's very, he's very, he's thank you.
- 53:57He's very near and dear to my heart.
- 53:58So the fact that he's taken on this role is just like such an
- 54:02honor to be So thank you, Charles.
- 54:06Thank you for making our dreams. Come true.
- 54:08Yeah. I'm excited to listen to it now.
- 54:12Like this is going to be the best audio book ever.
- 54:15No, yeah, the Aria and Carmen are phenomenal.
- 54:20I had the hardest time. Well, actually Carmen Chantelle,
- 54:25I knew earlier, she auditioned for Ella for me, and I knew she
- 54:30wasn't my Ella. So who who Carmen is playing?
- 54:34We can talk about that, who Carmen is playing.
- 54:36It's kind of a Gray area because I can't say if she ever like
- 54:40goes on like podcasts or lives. Like she says her name is fine,
- 54:44but it's like, I don't want people waiting to for this
- 54:48character. So she's kind of A twist, kind
- 54:51of not, but she's like this Gray area where I don't want to
- 54:54broadcast her because I think people were panic when they're
- 54:56reading the story and they're like, Oh my God.
- 54:58Oh my God, why is this? Like, you know, so yeah, don't
- 55:00panic. So she serves a very amazing
- 55:03purpose in the story, you know? So when I heard her, I was like,
- 55:06oh, OK, this is this character, I think.
- 55:09But then I kept hearing more and more auditions for this
- 55:12character and I just kept thinking like, I couldn't have
- 55:15found her this quickly, but but I did.
- 55:18I kept going back to Carmen. And then Arya Jacobs is my Ella.
- 55:23And Oh my God, I had, I listened to over 50 amazing auditions for
- 55:28Ella. Everyone was so good.
- 55:30They really, I had so many phenomenal auditions, but I was
- 55:33looking for this very, very specific sound because Ella has
- 55:39to sound very young, like in her early 20s.
- 55:43And she had, it's just, I can't even explain it.
- 55:47I, I, it was just, I, once I heard her, I, I knew I was going
- 55:51to be once I heard Ari, I was like jumping up and down
- 55:53literally in my living room because I was like, she is.
- 55:56And she talks like Ella doesn't use contractions when she
- 56:00speaks. So she's talks think of like
- 56:05Edward Cullen from Twilight, how like you can't really detect
- 56:09that he talks very differently, but they say he sounds kind of
- 56:12formal sounding and a little different like from a different
- 56:16time. I and so many people when they
- 56:19tried to to not use the contractions and talk like her,
- 56:22they had this very robotic sound to them where they almost
- 56:26sounded like they're talking like a robot.
- 56:28And Arya was able to do it where it was like when I wrote Ella,
- 56:32it was like the voice I heard in my head.
- 56:34She was able to deliver it with that very, very slight twist of
- 56:38that other worldly different sound to her.
- 56:41But it didn't sound like a like a forced robot.
- 56:44Like, you know, which like I had amazing auditions.
- 56:48Everyone was fantastic. I can't believe the amount of
- 56:50people that auditioned for it too.
- 56:52It was spectacular. But so my female cast, I mean,
- 56:55just matching them with Charles is literally like a dream come
- 57:00true. Like I can't, I cannot wait to
- 57:02hear that like. It's like Arya, I would say like
- 57:06to describe her voice. Like you said, it's hard to
- 57:08explain, but it almost is like that.
- 57:10It's like music to your ears. Like it's just like very pretty.
- 57:14Like it's almost like sing. Song.
- 57:17Feminine, yes, it's like, it's like a, it's like a melodic.
- 57:19It's almost like a melody to it. Is that what you're saying?
- 57:22Yeah. And.
- 57:23You're, you're thinking mermaid like, you know, like it's like
- 57:27what you think in your mind how kind of like a mermaid would
- 57:29speak. Yeah, kind of grasp that vibe.
- 57:33Yeah, yeah, she has just like that pretty, she just has a very
- 57:36pretty voice. I'm so excited for you guys to
- 57:38hear it in in Ella because like I can hear now that I've I've
- 57:42heard Arya in other like audio clips and audios and then I have
- 57:47Ella in my head. And so now like I can put them
- 57:50together and I can see it. I can envision it, you know, and
- 57:53it's it's going to be so good. Yeah, it's exciting.
- 57:56Now I'm so excited and this is this is for Rosemary now.
- 58:00Now, are you working on Book 2 currently?
- 58:03I am book 2 is going out to beta readers maybe this week,
- 58:10definitely next week. This, this is book 2 has been a
- 58:15bear of a developmental edit. I got the developmental back
- 58:18developmental edit back a while ago, but my my brain was so
- 58:23fried. Like it's kind of like as a
- 58:26writer, sometimes you feel like you're looking at your story
- 58:30through like the weeds, like through the grass, you know, and
- 58:34you're so immersed in it, you can't really see it clearly.
- 58:37So you kind of have to take a step back.
- 58:39It's almost like doing like a palate cleanser when you're
- 58:41reading like a World Series, you kind of have to take a step
- 58:45back. I had to take a step back from
- 58:46the story. And that's when I wrote Crash,
- 58:49which is really like a palate cleanser, but I had no intention
- 58:52of publishing. And then I was like, oh, this is
- 58:53pretty good. I want to publish.
- 58:55But it was really just to kind of like clear my a little bit.
- 58:58And then after that I was able to kind of step back and see the
- 59:01story more from like a Birds Eye view.
- 59:04I could see it all better. So then I, I, I stepped into the
- 59:08the monster of a developmental edit.
- 59:10It was, Oh my goodness, I had to.
- 59:14I think when I sent it to my editor, it was at 85,000 words
- 59:17and now it's at 105,000 words. And I had to push scenes that
- 59:22were towards the middle and the end up to the front of the book.
- 59:26And I added a lot of scenes and that's.
- 59:29Really hard to do that. Because once you have everything
- 59:31written, when you push something to the front, everything has to
- 59:34match that. And like, so it was, it's such I
- 59:38went, I was doing like a second read through of it of all after
- 59:43all the changes I did a couple days ago.
- 59:44And I noticed one mistake from that.
- 59:46It's not a big deal. It's easy for me to fix it, but
- 59:49it's just like keeping everything in order, especially
- 59:53when you're talking about people getting powers and like you're
- 59:56I'm breeding something and I'm like, my God, they don't have
- 59:58that power yet. But yet here I'm writing about
- 1:00:01it because I had to push the scene around and you know, it
- 1:00:03doesn't make sense at that part in the story, right?
- 1:00:06So it's very hard to do. So I will be once I get this out
- 1:00:10to beta readers. It's going to be such a relief.
- 1:00:14Because then I can focus on like marketing the audiobook and my
- 1:00:18kids will be done school soon and I can kind of mentally kind
- 1:00:22of shift while beta readers are reading that until I get their
- 1:00:25feedback and stuff, so. Yeah, and that'll be helpful.
- 1:00:29I love beta reading for that reason of development and just
- 1:00:33being a part of that process is really cool and being like, oh,
- 1:00:38you know, this would sound better if you know this came
- 1:00:41along or they said this or or catching the things like, Hey,
- 1:00:47what is this? Why is this tower here?
- 1:00:49What are you talking? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:51And helping. It's like for all of.
- 1:00:54Us that wanted to be an editor when we were younger and we
- 1:00:56didn't get to. It's like, that's what beta
- 1:00:57reading is for us. Yeah, we get to be in the editor
- 1:01:00role for a little bit. Yeah, that's how I feel.
- 1:01:03Days it's really neat to see this side of it because you
- 1:01:07know, coming from just you know, being a reader, you know we
- 1:01:10don't see all this aspect of like what goes into you know,
- 1:01:15publishing a book and that and it's it's neat again.
- 1:01:18We talked about this like months ago.
- 1:01:21We were just talking about how books to Graham itself, how much
- 1:01:25we didn't know. And just by talking to all, all
- 1:01:28the different authors here, I have learned so much.
- 1:01:31And it is. I find it very fascinating
- 1:01:33because you don't realize how much goes into it.
- 1:01:36Yeah, and everybody's, everybody's process is totally
- 1:01:41different too. Like I'll write the first draft
- 1:01:44and then I, I have two editors. I have one editor that does my
- 1:01:47developmental edit and I have another editor that does my copy
- 1:01:50edit and my proofreading. So I'll write the first draft.
- 1:01:53Sometimes I'll send pieces of it out to like, I guess you want to
- 1:01:58call them, I guess alpha readers.
- 1:02:00I never even knew what that term was.
- 1:02:01That is so recently, but I have like my people that I'll be
- 1:02:05like, oh, what do you think of this seed or what do you think
- 1:02:06of that? Like, and before I send out the
- 1:02:08first draft to the editor, so I send that out and then my editor
- 1:02:11does the developmental edit. She gets that back to me.
- 1:02:15And then after I finish that, I send it to beta readers.
- 1:02:18Then I get their feedback, but I'm like, don't worry about
- 1:02:21grammar or anything because it still gets a professional copy
- 1:02:24edit and then a professional proofread.
- 1:02:26So then send it out to my other editor to get the copy edit
- 1:02:30done. And then I have to go through
- 1:02:31that and then I send it out to get the proofread done.
- 1:02:33And then I go through that and then it goes to formatting.
- 1:02:35And then I'll, you know, but it's, that's my process.
- 1:02:38I know people do it differently, but yeah, so beta readers are
- 1:02:42awesome because it's like a rule.
- 1:02:46Well, my editor told me and I and I followed this advice.
- 1:02:48It's like she's like, if one person notices something and
- 1:02:51nobody else does, it's really just probably a preference of
- 1:02:54theirs, you know? You know, like you can take it
- 1:02:57if you want to change it, if it if it runs true, if it rings
- 1:03:00true to you, you can change it. If not, don't worry about it.
- 1:03:03But if two or more people pick up the same thing or they're
- 1:03:07like the scenes dragging on a little too much or I want more
- 1:03:10of this or that doesn't make sense, that's where it's like,
- 1:03:13I'm like, OK. And and data readers are amazing
- 1:03:16for that. Like they pick up everything.
- 1:03:19Thank you so much. I'm so grateful for that.
- 1:03:22Yeah. I know, Heather, you do beta
- 1:03:24reads, Chelsea, do you do beta reads too?
- 1:03:26Yeah, I've done a couple. I've done well.
- 1:03:29I only got like through half of an alpha read but I I enjoy the
- 1:03:34beta reading for sure. I see.
- 1:03:37I never do that. I never do arcs or I don't ever
- 1:03:40do any of that stuff, but I love that you guys do it.
- 1:03:42It's such a new. Thing to see.
- 1:03:44Yeah, it is hard to do it sometimes.
- 1:03:47Like I find it a little bit easier when maybe you aren't
- 1:03:51like too close to the author like cuz if you have certain
- 1:03:54edits that you want them to do or you have certain thoughts,
- 1:03:57like it can be really difficult to like provide that criticism.
- 1:04:03Yeah, I don't know, Like it's. And it's.
- 1:04:04Helping I get that. Like, it's their baby, you know,
- 1:04:07and they've written this thing. And so it is hard to be like,
- 1:04:09oh, I don't know, I know if I'm feeling this right here because
- 1:04:11maybe they really love that part.
- 1:04:13Yeah. So it's, it's kind of like a
- 1:04:15touchy thing, but it's also, it's a really cool experience.
- 1:04:19Yeah, I get that. I totally get that.
- 1:04:21That give and take of the author with the reader and just like
- 1:04:25understanding, like I'm not saying this to be mean, but you
- 1:04:28know, like if I am, I'm reading this and this does not flow.
- 1:04:32It doesn't make sense. You know, something doesn't make
- 1:04:36sense here that I, you know, I want to tell you I'm not going
- 1:04:40to be you mean, and I'm not gonna be like this sucks bad.
- 1:04:43Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:04:45It's all out of love. It's all out of love and it's
- 1:04:49just hard sometimes to word it the perfect way.
- 1:04:51It'd be like this is what I'm trying to say.
- 1:04:54I totally get it. And it's funny because as an
- 1:04:56author, sometimes I feel bad. If somebody gives me really good
- 1:05:02feedback and I don't take it, I feel like I'm gonna hurt their
- 1:05:06feelings because they've tried. So it's kind of like, but it's
- 1:05:11cool because I kind of tell my beta readers at the end of the
- 1:05:14day, I want you to be honest with me.
- 1:05:17But like, if I, you know, and I and I respect and I'm so
- 1:05:22grateful for your input, but I may not take it.
- 1:05:25And like, you know, don't, don't take offense to that because you
- 1:05:29know, like and like, so the same thing, like I'm not going to
- 1:05:31take offense to, to you giving me input right either.
- 1:05:35I'm just so appreciative that someone will read my story and
- 1:05:39do that for me as a major reader.
- 1:05:42And it, and it's also hard too, because not everybody knows.
- 1:05:45Like even with my editor, we have this discussion, like, she
- 1:05:48doesn't see where my brain is like projecting things.
- 1:05:51Yes. So this is a series.
- 1:05:53So my brain goes way out. So she'll say something to me
- 1:05:58and I'll be like, OK, well, I wrote it like this because this
- 1:06:01is where I think this arc is going or this is where I think
- 1:06:04this character is going. And then she's like, oh, OK, you
- 1:06:07know, like. Then, yeah, but I feel like
- 1:06:09what, like as a development for the series, that's a good thing
- 1:06:13to know if you're a beta reader to say that and be like, OK,
- 1:06:17what is this? Like, I caught this little hint
- 1:06:21here. What is that?
- 1:06:22And then you're the author goes, you'll see in the next book that
- 1:06:26I'm like, OK. And then, you know, as the
- 1:06:29author that you created that and people are going to put two and
- 1:06:32two together and be like, there's more.
- 1:06:35Yeah, yeah, there's a fine line. There's a fine line with that
- 1:06:38too, because it's like there's one where it's like an Easter
- 1:06:40egg and then there's one where it's like, these are the
- 1:06:43internal authors thoughts. And so they're like, Oh well
- 1:06:47this is what this means. And it's like, but you didn't
- 1:06:48explain that it's in your head, but you're not writing that in.
- 1:06:52And so it's funny because like, sometimes they're Easter eggs
- 1:06:53and sometimes it's just like you did not explain.
- 1:06:55That, but as a beta reader, you just kind of tag it and be like,
- 1:06:58hey, notice? That.
- 1:07:00And you do what you do with it. You know, like I can't tell you
- 1:07:03to change it because I need more, right?
- 1:07:06You can't have more right now. And that's like, what's Heidi
- 1:07:09saying? Like maybe you have one person
- 1:07:11that was like, I want more. And then you have like the five
- 1:07:13other people that are like, that's fine, that's good.
- 1:07:17Now Heidi, you know, do you ever read reviews for your books or
- 1:07:21are you an author that does not read your reviews?
- 1:07:24I use I in the beginning. In the beginning I read them a
- 1:07:30lot and now not really so much anymore.
- 1:07:37Sometimes I, it was funny because I, I was always, when I,
- 1:07:41when I first put Rosemond out, I got way more, way more positive
- 1:07:45reviews than the negative reviews and the negative reviews
- 1:07:48that I got. They, they didn't understand.
- 1:07:52I don't think the people read the story like I'm being really
- 1:07:54honest, Like I don't think they understand.
- 1:07:56They're just skimmed over it. They read one part in the very
- 1:07:59beginning and where they were just set on that and like
- 1:08:02refused to like read the rest of it.
- 1:08:04So it's like I, I was getting negative reviews in not a lot at
- 1:08:09all, but it, it, it was. And you know, I was trying to
- 1:08:12approach it by being like, oh, I'm going to read my negative
- 1:08:14reviews and I'm going to learn from them and I'm going to be.
- 1:08:17And, but they really just ended up really pissing me off.
- 1:08:22Like they, and I hate saying that.
- 1:08:24Like I do learn from them, but most of them were, they were
- 1:08:29saying something that wasn't true.
- 1:08:31And that's what really upset me. So I'm like, I'm just not going
- 1:08:34to, you know, Goodreads is a place I think for readers, not
- 1:08:37for authors. So, and, and, you know, just
- 1:08:41Amazon, Goodreads, I try not to look at them.
- 1:08:44Every once in a while I'll have like one of my PAS if I'm like,
- 1:08:48you know, just go pop in there if there's something I should be
- 1:08:49aware of and tell me. But I do like I.
- 1:08:53Went in and but I think I went in and commented on a couple
- 1:08:55people's like cuz the big one was the age gap that does not
- 1:08:59exist, right? And so I think I, when I had
- 1:09:02left my Goodreads review, I went in there and I was like, this
- 1:09:05isn't true. Like don't listen English
- 1:09:07review. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:09:10No, I'll just, I'll just tell everybody what what it was.
- 1:09:13So when I write Carter and Ella, I write them as the same exact
- 1:09:17age. They even though Ella when they
- 1:09:21first, well, they first meet technically when Carter's 5 and
- 1:09:26she's like a like observing she's there for a reason.
- 1:09:30And you'll find this out in the book and she's just kind of in
- 1:09:32this area and she's observing him in this family.
- 1:09:35So he the very, the prologue in the very beginning of the book
- 1:09:39starts out with Carter on the dock and he like sees her in the
- 1:09:44water. And humans aren't supposed to be
- 1:09:47able to see meridians, which is mermaids, what they're called
- 1:09:51meridians in in by in the prophecy of late series.
- 1:09:53And humans aren't supposed to be able to see them unless if they
- 1:09:56reveal themselves to humans. And all of a sudden he's like.
- 1:10:00Mommy, there's a girl in the water.
- 1:10:02And you know, so like she's like what?
- 1:10:04So she's very intrigued and drawn to this family because
- 1:10:07there's this little boy that can see her and he shouldn't be able
- 1:10:09to. So like you kind of find out
- 1:10:12through the through the story of why that is why she's there.
- 1:10:17And you know, they first start talking and everything.
- 1:10:20Well, she's they first start talking when he is 16.
- 1:10:24He meets her briefly in the water and he thinks that she's
- 1:10:27just like a human girl that he meets in the water.
- 1:10:30But then they start kind of getting into a relationship when
- 1:10:32he's 17. And the book goes well into his
- 1:10:36adult life that stands over like 13 years or whatever into his
- 1:10:40adult life. And she's, when they first meet,
- 1:10:43she's 202 years old in human years, but she's equivalent to
- 1:10:48that of like a 20 year old human because she ages much slower
- 1:10:54physically and emotionally because she lives to be like
- 1:10:561000 years old than than than humans do.
- 1:11:00So I've never in my life when I since I started thinking of the
- 1:11:04story back in 2007, actually probably earlier than that, I've
- 1:11:08always looked at them as the exact same age and they view
- 1:11:11themselves as the exact same age.
- 1:11:12So I had people accusing me of grooming that Ella was grooming
- 1:11:17Carter, which is absurd and really hurtful because I also, I
- 1:11:21write under my real name and I have kids and stuff.
- 1:11:24So it's like, you know, I had a couple of these accusations come
- 1:11:27out and it really pissed me off because it couldn't be like
- 1:11:30further from the truth. And I just feel like they didn't
- 1:11:33read the whole story because it's explained, it's explained
- 1:11:36in that. And I think they just saw the
- 1:11:38year difference and that was it, like some people.
- 1:11:41Have an ick with that and they like immediate.
- 1:11:44Yeah, it's weird. And it's not like.
- 1:11:47Yeah. And it's it's not real.
- 1:11:48It's a fantasy. They're not real people.
- 1:11:50And, you know, it's also like not like Ella Lev, She didn't
- 1:11:55lead this life of this like promiscuous past where she, you
- 1:12:00know, she was a warrior. She was essentially a warrior on
- 1:12:03the battlefield her entire life. And when she met Carter, that
- 1:12:07was her first experience of any kind of love or physical contact
- 1:12:12or anything. So when she came to the table,
- 1:12:14it was very innocent. And, you know, so like both of
- 1:12:17them were at the time, like, you know, Carter had more of like a
- 1:12:21bit of a background with, you know, relationships than her to
- 1:12:26an extent, but he was still very green as well, I guess you could
- 1:12:30say when they both met. So it was like this very
- 1:12:33innocent kind of a beginning for them.
- 1:12:35And, and the people that like, didn't see it like that, I I
- 1:12:39don't know how they didn't see it.
- 1:12:41Like, I hope it maybe it was my fault in the way I wrote some
- 1:12:44things. I don't know.
- 1:12:44Why you just described that? I didn't.
- 1:12:47Even that didn't come to mind. Yeah, I don't.
- 1:12:50Like I know another indie author who had this like this exact
- 1:12:56thing happen actually. And she had a change like a
- 1:13:01certain nickname in her from the arc Reed to the like the final
- 1:13:04publish because people were accusing her of like a grooming
- 1:13:08and like like a she's younger, but but in fact, she was like a
- 1:13:13billion year old star. But she was just a small little
- 1:13:16thing compared to like these giant people and the story.
- 1:13:20And yeah, yeah, people sometimes just paciferate on that and keep
- 1:13:27it out of their head. So.
- 1:13:28It's weird because you have people and and it's easy to say
- 1:13:33don't listen to the negative people, right?
- 1:13:34But it's like these talk so loud and so that's why it's hard to
- 1:13:38ignore them. But like, I don't know, like the
- 1:13:41people that go into books just to like tear them apart or to
- 1:13:44like start a book and then I'm not even going to finish it
- 1:13:46because this just got, you know, like I didn't like this.
- 1:13:48And then they and. Then and then they.
- 1:13:49Do the review, yeah. And then you leave a review
- 1:13:51about it and it's just like, you know what through you, but it's
- 1:13:55so good. And when you like, see, Carter
- 1:13:58is like the perfect to this day. He is like #1 just the way he
- 1:14:05looks like morals, his morals, like he's just so, he's so
- 1:14:09perfect. I love him.
- 1:14:11Thank you. Again, I I can't wait for people
- 1:14:14to read the second book. I'm I'm, I'm a little nervous
- 1:14:18because it's very different than Rose Moon.
- 1:14:22So I hope it doesn't give people too much whiplash, but I hope it
- 1:14:25does in a good way, because it's it's very different.
- 1:14:28It's it's very fast-paced. It's dark in comparison to Rose
- 1:14:34Moon. Yeah, it has it has certainly
- 1:14:37has its lighter moments. There's a lot of comedy in this
- 1:14:40book. There's a lot more comedy in
- 1:14:42this than I had at all until I went back into the the read
- 1:14:45through and I was like laughing out loud at certain parts
- 1:14:48because I forgot they were in there.
- 1:14:49And I was like, oh, it's pretty funny actually.
- 1:14:51But it's a, it's a much different tone.
- 1:14:53I think it's going to be, it's definitely to be the darkest
- 1:14:56bulk in the series. So yeah.
- 1:14:59And it's I'm very excited for people to read it because it's,
- 1:15:03it's very different. It's, you know, I think you get
- 1:15:06a little bit of a hints at the direction it's going in at the
- 1:15:10end of Rose Moon, and then it ends with a huge twist.
- 1:15:17That's the end. So yeah.
- 1:15:20No. It's really hard not, it's
- 1:15:22really hard not to spoil Rosemoon as we're talking.
- 1:15:24But now I'm like, I really want to know what's in Book 2.
- 1:15:28Now you just also you just updated the cover art for Rose
- 1:15:31Moon as well. I did, yeah.
- 1:15:34I did. Here's the original.
- 1:15:36Beautiful though. Yeah.
- 1:15:37Thank you. There's the.
- 1:15:38Original I'm, I have, I'm gonna spray the edges, by the way,
- 1:15:41that's why they're half done. Wow.
- 1:15:45But I I'm I'm dying to see your new cover in person.
- 1:15:49I have wait hang on. I have one with the can.
- 1:15:52I reached it without my. Can I grab it real quick?
- 1:15:54Yes, of course. You can.
- 1:15:55OK, hold on. The new one is is the cover on
- 1:15:59it is gorgeous. So pretty, so vibrant.
- 1:16:02I love a beautiful cover, yeah. My hardbacks will be here soon
- 1:16:05without like, but that's it with the yeah, that's my little like
- 1:16:09what they send you on Amazon when it's not.
- 1:16:11That's like my proof copy, I guess you could say.
- 1:16:14But so what's this looks like? And I had to get a new cover
- 1:16:19because the woman that's in my original cover, she's not doing
- 1:16:22them anymore. And I needed it.
- 1:16:25I needed it to match the audio book, so I needed to get it
- 1:16:30redone, and then I needed it to match all the rest of the books
- 1:16:33from the series too. So what's funny is I always kind
- 1:16:37of envisioned. This is sort of the cover I
- 1:16:39always envisioned. But when that my other cover
- 1:16:43designer designer was making it, as she showed me the image of
- 1:16:46the piano in the water because I was like, I wanted the dock.
- 1:16:50And she showed me the image of the piano in the water and I was
- 1:16:53like, oh, wow. Like I love that.
- 1:16:55So I just went with it. But this is this was sort of
- 1:16:57always what I had anticipated the whole time from the very
- 1:17:01beginning was the dock, the Rose moon and kind of like this
- 1:17:04fantasy edging of it. Yeah, so.
- 1:17:08Beautiful. It's very pretty.
- 1:17:09I love it. I love the colors.
- 1:17:11Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:17:14I love a beautiful cover if you ever.
- 1:17:16Paid. Yes, we're cover snobs.
- 1:17:19Good cover. I'll tell you here lately a lot
- 1:17:23of the books that have been coming out, they've been having
- 1:17:25such beautiful covers. That is one thing that does sell
- 1:17:29me on a book is a cover. But the the one though that I am
- 1:17:33disappointed in. I haven't read the book yet.
- 1:17:35Heather has read it but it's going to be re released I think
- 1:17:40because it went trad in June. It's Daggermouth.
- 1:17:43I do not know the cover on that. Book.
- 1:17:46Have you seen it? And it's like the.
- 1:17:47I've seen it. It's like a heart, right?
- 1:17:49With like, yeah, that they're like like lasers or something.
- 1:17:53I'm trying to think I heard either and then look at.
- 1:17:55That's one of the ones I wouldn't remember I have there.
- 1:17:57Well, they're seen about from what I've seen of when it goes,
- 1:18:00because I think it's in June or July, you can get the
- 1:18:04traditional published ones. It's a little better.
- 1:18:06It's prettier, a little bit prettier.
- 1:18:08It's still it's it's it's weird. I don't I don't know that one
- 1:18:11was not. But again, people said the story
- 1:18:14is amazing but. It is.
- 1:18:16It's a great book. It's kind of what I just want to
- 1:18:19cover. You wouldn't pick it up.
- 1:18:22Like for me, like if I walked by it, I wouldn't have thought
- 1:18:25like, oh, that's a fantasy dystopian.
- 1:18:28I would have thought like a thriller or mystery kind of
- 1:18:32cover and I probably would have walked by it in in the store,
- 1:18:37but I don't know people. I mean it does make sense a
- 1:18:41little sense after reading the book.
- 1:18:43So you know, like sometimes what you have to read the book to
- 1:18:45understand the cover. Sometimes if there's little
- 1:18:48Easter eggs in there and I just like I get it, but it it's not a
- 1:18:54lot. It's.
- 1:18:54Not a. Lot to it.
- 1:18:56But the one that the cover that's coming out traditionally
- 1:18:58is similar, but it it does, I think that the traditional one,
- 1:19:03it looks a little. Better.
- 1:19:04It looks a little better, but I would still not think that
- 1:19:08that's a dystopian fantasy book. You see, I think a lot of times
- 1:19:11like this is still my thought in it.
- 1:19:14I still think that indie covers are always my favorite covers
- 1:19:18because you have more of the free will, you know, to create
- 1:19:22what you want. You don't have someone saying
- 1:19:25blah blah blah at you, you know, because they're traditional and
- 1:19:27you have. To do a specific way, yeah, I
- 1:19:30love that. I think, I just think indie
- 1:19:32covers, they're they're my favorite.
- 1:19:33I like to get them like say, let's say you know, when they go
- 1:19:37traditional, I try to get the indie covers before they go
- 1:19:40traditional because again, they're my favorites.
- 1:19:44Yeah, yeah. Now the ones that I have gotten
- 1:19:47here recently that have gone traditional, it's Elizabeth,
- 1:19:50Helen. It's there.
- 1:19:52I forget what it these series is actually called, but it's bonded
- 1:19:55by thorns is the first one and that and now I and I'm and I'm
- 1:20:00weird with like a person on the cover because sometimes it
- 1:20:03always gives me the the Fabio days vibe.
- 1:20:07You know what I mean? But now she had the the sisters
- 1:20:11because I found out Elizabeth Helen is 2 people.
- 1:20:13Again, didn't have any idea. But I do really like the hair
- 1:20:17covers. Even though there's a person on
- 1:20:19it. I like how it is done, if that
- 1:20:21makes sense, But it's it's definitely not a Fabio cover.
- 1:20:24Heidi, don't do a height. Don't do a Fatio cover.
- 1:20:27Yeah, I I'm not I well, I well crash has people on the they're.
- 1:20:32Not good they're. Not but they're not Fabio
- 1:20:34though. It's not that style.
- 1:20:37I'm just gonna say with. People that I cover them like,
- 1:20:39wait, crashes, people like. But I thought most romance
- 1:20:43romance books have cover like people on the covers.
- 1:20:47But it's different though. You know what?
- 1:20:48I. Mean, I know what you're saying.
- 1:20:50You know what? I.
- 1:20:51Mean you're saying because I I was originally just going to do
- 1:20:53like a mountain with like with the white and then the red with
- 1:20:57the crash. And then I saw Mia Sheridan's
- 1:21:01book, I think it's called Dane Storm.
- 1:21:03And there's like a picture of a couple in the front very faded,
- 1:21:07kind of like how crashes it's not like out in your face.
- 1:21:09So they're kind of faded and there was like a storm and
- 1:21:12everything. And that's actually I was like,
- 1:21:14I really like that. So I gave that idea.
- 1:21:16So that does to that designer, along with my other ideas, and
- 1:21:20yeah, that's how we got the crash.
- 1:21:22Crashed to me almost looks like a movie poster.
- 1:21:25Yeah. It's.
- 1:21:26Yeah, it kind of does. Yeah.
- 1:21:29Thank you. But no, wait, Chelsea and I have
- 1:21:31talked about Fabio and he's he doesn't do the covers anymore.
- 1:21:37We're very disappointed in that. Nor does he do his he can't
- 1:21:40believe it's not butter anymore. Advertisements.
- 1:21:43Oh my gosh. Oh.
- 1:21:45Fabio. Because he's what, 6?
- 1:21:48What did we find out? He was 60 something.
- 1:21:50Isn't that what we found out? Yeah.
- 1:21:53Fabio, but you know, but growing.
- 1:21:54Up in the 80s you could put Charles on the cover, that would
- 1:21:57be fine. I could put Charles on the
- 1:21:59cover. That.
- 1:22:01Would be like an exception. Exception to the rule, yeah.
- 1:22:07And Heidi, for your new books, they also have your immersive
- 1:22:11playlist in them, right? Like nothing is changing on the
- 1:22:15inside, just the cover right? OK, just the cover.
- 1:22:19You guys have to look at the playlist when you go to read it
- 1:22:21because I can tell you like as you're reading it is very,
- 1:22:25you're like, oh, yeah, Yep, this is Carter.
- 1:22:28This is what Carter's going through.
- 1:22:29Like it is, it is so spot on. So you have to make sure that
- 1:22:33you pay attention to that and listen to him.
- 1:22:35Yeah, I actually put, it's funny, I don't know if I'll go
- 1:22:38as in depth with the next book because that was hard.
- 1:22:41That was tricky to do because I tried, I wrote, I did it with
- 1:22:45Rosen, where the playlist is I actually referred to as like an
- 1:22:48immersive experience because I wrote it in order of the book
- 1:22:52and it was because I write to, I write to music.
- 1:22:56So every scene is kind of written to a specific song and
- 1:22:59vibe. So I wrote it, I made the
- 1:23:04playlist. So if you listen to it from
- 1:23:05start to finish, it's kind of like Carters emotional journey
- 1:23:08from start to finish of the book and then in the back of the
- 1:23:12book. So I have the playlist I had
- 1:23:14that written in the front and listed in the back.
- 1:23:17I actually linked each scene to which music piece I wrote it to.
- 1:23:23I don't know if I'm going to go with that in detail because it
- 1:23:25was hard to do that because sometimes you'll write something
- 1:23:28for one scene, but then you'll reuse that same for a different
- 1:23:31scene. And then it's like it was hard
- 1:23:33to do that, like keep it in order.
- 1:23:35So it like followed that. So I might, I might just
- 1:23:37indicate, I might just put the list in the front on the next
- 1:23:40one and then just indicate like this song was written for these
- 1:23:43particular scenes instead of trying to like do it from start
- 1:23:46to finish in like that emotional flow of the component, I guess
- 1:23:50you could say, but the next books playlist is awesome.
- 1:23:54I, I, I'm finalizing that as we speak to.
- 1:23:59I'm really happy with how that turned out.
- 1:24:01I mean, you had some, you had a lot of Hans Zimmer in the first
- 1:24:04one. Are we getting like dark dark
- 1:24:06Hans Zimmer in the second one? We are.
- 1:24:08We have some Hans Zimmer from The Dark Knight from Batman in
- 1:24:12the second book and yeah, it's so hard.
- 1:24:16It's so hard not to because there's so many twists and
- 1:24:19rosaries. Yeah, there's so many twists.
- 1:24:21It's like I always say this character's name, say this, but
- 1:24:25yeah, yeah, the the next book is, is is very different, but I
- 1:24:28hope it's received. They know well it being very
- 1:24:32different, but it definitely. Now, when do you anticipate book
- 1:24:382 to come out? Because I know you're said
- 1:24:40you're going to do beta reading. So when do you anticipate?
- 1:24:43What's your ball part? It'll definitely come out in
- 1:24:472027. Definitely.
- 1:24:50So wow. You know, it'll definitely come
- 1:24:53out in 2027. My goal is to get it out in the
- 1:24:56first half of 2027. It might happen, it might
- 1:25:00happen, but it'll definitely come out that year.
- 1:25:03Yeah, I it's so hard to because, you know, I have to get all my
- 1:25:06editors schedule. So then I might have to wait to
- 1:25:10get onto her schedule and then I got to get on her schedule again
- 1:25:12for proofreading and I got to get on the format or schedule.
- 1:25:15Sometimes you're waiting months to get on this and you don't you
- 1:25:18don't really know. Sometimes they can squeeze you
- 1:25:20in fairly quickly and sometimes they'll like, well, I'll get to
- 1:25:22it in two months. And then you never, you never
- 1:25:25really know. So if it was, if they were all
- 1:25:27able to, excuse me, kind of turn things around very quickly for
- 1:25:32me, I think it's I think I definitely get out the first
- 1:25:34half of 2026. But it just you kind of, you
- 1:25:38know, you're on at the mercy of their schedules.
- 1:25:40Yeah. So I recently learned that
- 1:25:43things are simple. Well, I shouldn't say simple
- 1:25:45because it's apparently not, but like getting sprayed edges in a
- 1:25:48book that that takes like a year.
- 1:25:50So I'm just realizing that all these things, like you said,
- 1:25:54like lining up, getting on people's schedules and I, you
- 1:25:58know, it takes a lot of time and energy, but us readers just want
- 1:26:02it now, now, now. Yeah.
- 1:26:05I'll take the bound copy that you like you did for Charles.
- 1:26:08That's totally fine with me. The spiral round.
- 1:26:13Well, I see. I think that's that's the issue
- 1:26:15with just readers itself. You know, we, a lot of them do
- 1:26:19not have patience and I think and but you know, and these are
- 1:26:23also the same people that go in to like on Goodreads and go into
- 1:26:27different, you know, they'll give them two star reviews.
- 1:26:30I don't think, in my opinion, I think the star system that we
- 1:26:33all do, I don't think maybe we should do that anymore.
- 1:26:36We should just write how we feel, not rate as something like
- 1:26:40that. You know what I mean?
- 1:26:42Now spice level I do enjoy, as you all know, because that's
- 1:26:46always my question. You know, whenever someone
- 1:26:49brings up a book, I was asked how spicy something is that I do
- 1:26:53need that information. But but like stars and stuff.
- 1:26:56And, and if you DNF a book, don't review it.
- 1:26:59Just just go away. I, I, I think a lot of times
- 1:27:03Goodreads is kind of like, it's like Reddit in a lot of ways.
- 1:27:06And I always say this about Reddit.
- 1:27:08Reddit is the asshole of the world because people because you
- 1:27:12can go on and like on a thread and you can like try to help
- 1:27:15somebody with something and then a whole bunch of people, even
- 1:27:18though you're giving them genuine help, they'll downvote
- 1:27:21you and you lose karma And Reddit it's oh, people are
- 1:27:25assholes on Reddit. This is why I don't talk on
- 1:27:27Reddit. I don't like it.
- 1:27:28Never used. It it's the asshole of the
- 1:27:31world. And so I think a lot of times
- 1:27:33Goodreads is a lot like that because people think they.
- 1:27:37Threads is kind of old. Threads.
- 1:27:39Yes. I don't do anything on threads
- 1:27:42anymore. At least my algorithm is not a
- 1:27:45happy threads place, no every time I there.
- 1:27:48Over there, every time I pop over there, yeah, I, I kind of
- 1:27:53pop back off of it because it's like, yeah, everyone's very
- 1:27:56angry over there, yeah. I had said like, I'm like, I'm
- 1:27:59only on threads because I like fall all the authors that I
- 1:28:03love, because sometimes you get updates over there that you
- 1:28:05don't necessarily because, you know, Instagram is like it comes
- 1:28:07with a picture, whereas threads it's almost like a, a tweet, you
- 1:28:10know, So it's like we're getting just like little updates and I'm
- 1:28:13like, but otherwise I don't want to see anything that's on there.
- 1:28:16I just want to see your guys's updates.
- 1:28:18And then I need to get off because I get so angry.
- 1:28:20Like the rage bait is insane. It really is.
- 1:28:24It really is, yeah. I don't, I don't do threads.
- 1:28:28I used to post over there on threads also.
- 1:28:31I used to post with the podcast and with my book Instagram on
- 1:28:35TikTok and I stopped with it too because it just got it's
- 1:28:38ridiculous over there too. I got a lot of bot people on
- 1:28:43TikTok and it would write different things and I'm like
- 1:28:46that. I just don't have time.
- 1:28:47So I just do Instagram and I do on YouTube and you know, our
- 1:28:51Spotify that sends us out to everywhere.
- 1:28:53But other than that, it's I'm not going to get, I'm not going
- 1:28:56to get involved with angry people.
- 1:28:57Yeah, no. And.
- 1:28:58I agree. Well, Rebecca, like you're
- 1:28:59saying, like with the star rating, it is kind of hard
- 1:29:02because you can really enjoy something, but maybe like a
- 1:29:05couple things, I don't know, I, I guess it's like this whole
- 1:29:08bookstagram that we feel like we're all experts about what
- 1:29:12books should be like and it's just kind of, it's kind of, it
- 1:29:14can be toxic. Yeah, it's books are so
- 1:29:18subjective too. It's hard to, you know, it's,
- 1:29:22it's hard. It's hard to sort of, I don't
- 1:29:27know, like I said, good for me, good reads.
- 1:29:28I try to it's a place for readers and it and it's hard
- 1:29:32because like sometimes my my favorite book might, you know,
- 1:29:36some people might totally hate my favorite book and and and
- 1:29:40vice versa. So it's hard to kind of, you
- 1:29:43know, I, I don't even know what I'm trying to say.
- 1:29:45No, I, I. Know reviewing was a thing like
- 1:29:49it's yeah. It's it's hard to yeah, I, I
- 1:29:52mean like, and I'm, I'm fine. I'm fine with people giving
- 1:29:56negative reviews too. Like I do like, I'm just happy
- 1:29:58someone would read my book like you read my book.
- 1:30:00Thank you. Like if it wasn't, it's not
- 1:30:02going to be for everybody. And I, and I and I appreciate
- 1:30:05that. And you know, you just hope that
- 1:30:09you can, you know, you can learn from negative reviews, but it's
- 1:30:12just, it's, it's hard because it's, you know, it's a you.
- 1:30:14Want to make? Yeah.
- 1:30:15Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:30:16And I forget out what I'm trying to say.
- 1:30:18Yeah. But I know what I'm saying, Ben,
- 1:30:20like I'm going to leave a five star review on this.
- 1:30:22I loved this book and I'll I'll be looking through other reviews
- 1:30:24and they're like, this is Riley and this character is
- 1:30:26insufferable and this and that. I'm like, yeah, oh, I guess.
- 1:30:29You're looking at a lot, Yeah. It's not like a bad review.
- 1:30:33Yeah, but they're unpacking all the stuff that was the book.
- 1:30:37I'm like, why? Why do you feel necessary to to
- 1:30:43see if I don't know? See if I do a review and that I
- 1:30:47give it's it. I don't go piece by piece of the
- 1:30:50thing. I give how it made me feel, you
- 1:30:53know, that kind of vibe with it. I don't do any spoiler or
- 1:30:57anything with my reviews now. I still do stars, but everything
- 1:31:01I always read, everything's a five star to me.
- 1:31:03If it may be happy or it gave me a feeling or if a book has made
- 1:31:08me cry or different things like that, they're all five star.
- 1:31:11If it's me that I've only at one time.
- 1:31:14I've had one book that I didn't care for and IDNFD it, but I
- 1:31:18didn't go go on the and and do a review on it.
- 1:31:20I didn't say one star, you know, I didn't do that.
- 1:31:24I don't understand why people feel the need to do that.
- 1:31:28I don't understand. And like you said, books are
- 1:31:31subjective. You don't.
- 1:31:32Just because I love something, I don't expect Chelsea to love it
- 1:31:37or Heather to love it. You know, I always tell him,
- 1:31:39Hey, you should try this out, you know, but I'm not going to
- 1:31:42be like all angry at them. Well, you didn't like that book
- 1:31:45that I loved. I wouldn't be mad, but people
- 1:31:47are very odd people on the Internet, I should say, are all
- 1:31:51they just. Get confident when it's.
- 1:31:53A. When you're behind a keyboard
- 1:31:55instead. Of yeah.
- 1:31:56Talking. To someone else.
- 1:31:58This, this is. That's so true, yeah.
- 1:32:00The Warrior keyboarders. Yes.
- 1:32:03I, I totally agree with you with like, I know everybody like kind
- 1:32:07of rates their books differently, but I, for me, if I
- 1:32:11feel something from a book, if a book keeps me up way past my
- 1:32:15bedtime, if I'm like brushing my teeth reading a book because I
- 1:32:19literally can't put it down, that book's a five star book to
- 1:32:22me. Like even if there's like, like
- 1:32:24even if you could like knit pick it, it doesn't matter to me if
- 1:32:29it if it did that to me, if it evoked that kind of experience
- 1:32:32on me. Yeah, that's a five star.
- 1:32:34Yeah. But I know other people like
- 1:32:35literally have like a checklist. Well, that could do that to
- 1:32:38them. I stayed up to 3:00 AM reading
- 1:32:40this and I couldn't put it down. But it didn't hit this like
- 1:32:44check box of mine. Right.
- 1:32:45So it's not a 5. Star Some people get meticulous.
- 1:32:48Yeah, yeah, it's. Like Brady?
- 1:32:50Goes strictly off of feeling for me.
- 1:32:53Like it is like feeling like. It's something that I noticed
- 1:32:56throughout the book that I'm reading and I'm kind of like
- 1:32:58like this again, or like they they jump around a lot or
- 1:33:04doesn't flow or something like that, like that where it brings
- 1:33:07my vibe, A distraction, then I'm like, okay for.
- 1:33:11If they repeat. Like a horrible book.
- 1:33:14I know you've said like if they repeat a lot, like they're going
- 1:33:18over the same thing. Over and over and over.
- 1:33:20Again, like, why are you know, that kind of thing?
- 1:33:23Now, if a book makes me cry, one of the the books that have made
- 1:33:26me cry was I don't know if you read the Bewitched series by
- 1:33:29Laura Thalassa, it's bewitched be be spelled.
- 1:33:32And then there's the prequel, which is The Curse that binds.
- 1:33:36Heather and I have differing thoughts of when you should read
- 1:33:38the Curse that binds. I always say read it after she
- 1:33:40said to read it first, but I like it after.
- 1:33:42But you know what's gonna happen in The Curse that Binds?
- 1:33:46If you read Bewitched and be spelled there's, you know how
- 1:33:50it's gonna play out. You know what it's building to.
- 1:33:53Yeah. And that book made me cry.
- 1:33:54And it just, you know, it was such a feeling at the end of the
- 1:33:59Plated Prisoner series when there was things in book 6
- 1:34:02moments that happened and there were things major events that
- 1:34:05happened. It made me cry.
- 1:34:07Those are there's something about a book when it can do that
- 1:34:10for you. You know, she even like if
- 1:34:12you're watching ATV show, like I was just watching Bridgerton
- 1:34:15because I hadn't watched it before and I ditched it all and
- 1:34:18I watched Queen, what was her name, Queen Charlotte.
- 1:34:23I watched her thing and that last, the last episode of her
- 1:34:27miniseries, it made me cry. You know it was.
- 1:34:30So good. That when a book can pull that
- 1:34:33kind of emotion out of you, that is an absolute five star.
- 1:34:37I've learned. I'm a mood reader too.
- 1:34:39I've learned from what I do. But.
- 1:34:42And of course, but, you know, they have to be spicy.
- 1:34:44But but yeah. But if I can, if a book can
- 1:34:47invoke that emotion, that is five star.
- 1:34:50Rosemond I would say probably 3, but again, that's like
- 1:34:52subjective too to, you know, a spice level subjective.
- 1:34:56I would give it a three. I've had people, most people
- 1:34:59gave it around that like a 2 1/2 or a three.
- 1:35:03I would do three. I might even bump it to like a
- 1:35:05this next one could be like a 3 1/2 for sure.
- 1:35:08But I write under my real name. So that's something too that I
- 1:35:11have to like when I give it to beta readers, be like I write
- 1:35:14under my real name. So if it's too spicy, you know,
- 1:35:18let me know. There's never.
- 1:35:19Too much spice, I have to tell you.
- 1:35:21I agree. Well, you're right under your
- 1:35:23real name kind of because I don't use a pending so, but I
- 1:35:28agree. I kind of agree with that for
- 1:35:30sure. I'd say it frozen's probably
- 1:35:33about a three, three Peppers out of five.
- 1:35:35This next one, it crash, crashes little.
- 1:35:38It has one spicy scene, but it's a novella, but it is a very
- 1:35:43spicy scene that's in there. I I guess for the ratio of
- 1:35:48amount of pages to spice, that's probably about 3-2 in my, in my
- 1:35:51opinion. So yeah, I, I think they're
- 1:35:54pretty spicy. I don't know if Chelsea would
- 1:35:56you think Rose is. Spicy, I would, I liked how you
- 1:35:58said, like I, I, I would probably say like a 2 1/2 to 3,
- 1:36:02like somewhere in that range. It is hard.
- 1:36:03I'm not very good at spice ratings either, so I'm not
- 1:36:07either. That's one of those things where
- 1:36:08I kind of like leave those off when I do ratings.
- 1:36:10I'm like, yes, there is some like because I don't know how to
- 1:36:12rate them, but it's just it's so well done because it's so well
- 1:36:18I. Guess for like.
- 1:36:19Carter is just pure amazing man it is so good.
- 1:36:25I'm biased but he I agree. He's my baby.
- 1:36:30I agree. I know like the spice is perfect
- 1:36:34man moments. Well, I know like with spice and
- 1:36:38stuff like Heather and I think a little differently, like what I
- 1:36:41consider it maybe a little bit more spicy.
- 1:36:43She consider a little less spicy like the the series.
- 1:36:48Now I just read I read the stock by is it seduction and shadows.
- 1:36:53I always get the last two words mixed up.
- 1:36:55So it could be either or it's by Maggie Censeri.
- 1:36:57Now that is that I gave for four Peppers because it's a lot of
- 1:37:01it's kind of like dominance and submissive kind of things with
- 1:37:05them. OK, vampires and stuff like
- 1:37:07that. But I, I, I do like my
- 1:37:09spiciness, but not like I've seen people like if, if you guys
- 1:37:12have read Anathema by Carrie Lake, now I've seen some people
- 1:37:16will be like that's like like 1 1/2 or two.
- 1:37:19But when you actually read it and you read the scene and
- 1:37:21stuff, it is very spicy. So I guess I classify mine by
- 1:37:27how the spicy scene makes me feel or how I see it in my mind.
- 1:37:32Not, you know, that it's AI, just I just don't do fade to
- 1:37:35black. That's just not my if.
- 1:37:37If it's that I don't, that's not in my wheelhouse.
- 1:37:40I have to have my spiciness, you know what I mean?
- 1:37:44So Heidi, no wrong answer to this because you're an author
- 1:37:48and you're busy and you have a lot going on with the
- 1:37:50audiobooks. But are you, do you have any
- 1:37:52current reads right now? Are you like 2 in the thick of
- 1:37:55your writing to have time? Right now, yeah, right now I am.
- 1:38:01That's like all like, well, I was doing my Game of Thrones
- 1:38:04rewatching too, so that was taking into my reading time.
- 1:38:08But whenever I'm like deep in editing or there's different
- 1:38:13phases when I'm like working on a book where I've, I can't read
- 1:38:16anything else. But it's odd because then
- 1:38:18there's other times where reading actually helps me write.
- 1:38:20So it just kind of depends on where I'm at in the creative
- 1:38:23process. But I don't think I've read the
- 1:38:27a book. This is probably pretty funny.
- 1:38:29It's probably been about 3 months since I've read a book.
- 1:38:31And I think the last because I was thinking about this today
- 1:38:34because I'm like, I wonder if they gonna ask you what my last
- 1:38:36reads were because I had to think, stop and think what they
- 1:38:38were. And it's been like 3 months.
- 1:38:40I read older by Jennifer Hartman.
- 1:38:42I loved it. I read Verity by Colleen Hoover.
- 1:38:47I actually really liked it. I know it got like mixed, it got
- 1:38:50mixed reviews. I loved it.
- 1:38:51It's so and then I read, I'm reading the from blood and ash,
- 1:38:56flesh and fire series of like in tandem.
- 1:38:58And so I, I kind of went off course because as soon as I met
- 1:39:02Nick though, so I'm like, I'm not stopping.
- 1:39:03So I, I was going back and forth between the two.
- 1:39:07The last book I read was, I think it's the second to last
- 1:39:11Flesh and Fire book. I was supposed I was supposed to
- 1:39:14do the book that was Castile's point of view.
- 1:39:17But I, that's what I'm going to read next.
- 1:39:19I was supposed to do that, but I stayed with Flesh and Fire.
- 1:39:21So I believe I, I'm going to jump back and I'm getting close
- 1:39:24to sort of being finished. I guess I'm like 3/4 of the way
- 1:39:27finished, maybe a little more. I may be jumping into Castile's
- 1:39:30point of view and then I have one more Flesh and Fire to go.
- 1:39:33I loved, I love Castile, but as soon as I met Nikdos I was like,
- 1:39:37I was like, I couldn't go back. I just, I think I just started.
- 1:39:44So I'm, I'm not, she has so many books.
- 1:39:47I don't know which one is which, but I've read Blood and Ash.
- 1:39:50So like Poppy and Castile, I just finished like the War of 2
- 1:39:53Queens, which is book four. And then I just started, which I
- 1:39:57think is Castile's point of view because he's been the narrator
- 1:40:00so far that I've been listening to.
- 1:40:01So OK, that must be book 5, but I don't know if that's like, I
- 1:40:05don't know how her series works. I'm so confused because.
- 1:40:08Well, there's a. Prequel series which is flesh
- 1:40:10and fire so. You could.
- 1:40:12Start that and you could go tandem if you wanted to because
- 1:40:15they kind of follow. That's what I a little bit, I
- 1:40:18mean, I think, I think you could honestly do it either way.
- 1:40:21Like I think you could read both separately.
- 1:40:23But I started reading them tandem because my editor told
- 1:40:26me, my editor told me to do it that way.
- 1:40:28So I'm like, alright, I'll read it that way.
- 1:40:29Yeah, but yeah, I, I, I really, I'm enjoying them like they, I
- 1:40:35love the first one. The first from Blood and Ash was
- 1:40:38just spectacular. Absolutely.
- 1:40:39I can't actually, I'll probably go back and reread that book.
- 1:40:41I want to read the OR listen to the graphic audio of that
- 1:40:44because I heard that was really good the graphic.
- 1:40:46Audio has been good. I will say, like there have been
- 1:40:49times because I feel like sometimes it gets repetitive a
- 1:40:52bit. And I was I was telling the
- 1:40:54girls I was like, at some point I'm like, I do not want to hear
- 1:40:57more worried about what like copy is smelling or tasting.
- 1:41:00Like sometimes I'm just like, get, I'm like anticipating all
- 1:41:05the big stuff that's happening and I'm like, stop slowing it.
- 1:41:07Down. But it is like, now that I've
- 1:41:09gotten to the end, I'm like, oh, it is really good.
- 1:41:11Like the way she sets it all up. She really, yeah, she really
- 1:41:14does set up really well. But yeah, so those are the last
- 1:41:18three books I read and I've been really excited to read Onyx
- 1:41:21Storm, which I haven't. That's the third book, right?
- 1:41:24Because it's what what is it? 4th Wing Iron Flame, Onyx Storm.
- 1:41:28Okay, I love the first two. I've had Onyx Storm ready to go.
- 1:41:31I wanna read that. I wanna read.
- 1:41:34What is it? Oh my gosh, I'm drawing a blank.
- 1:41:36The Butcher and the black girl. That's what it's called, right?
- 1:41:38I want to read that series. That's been high.
- 1:41:40OK, that's been high on my TVRI have the audio of Quicksilver
- 1:41:45because I haven't read that yet. That's a good audio.
- 1:41:47Book or listen to it, haven't read it, haven't listened to it.
- 1:41:50Those those ones I want to I want to check out.
- 1:41:53There's other ones on my TBR. I'm drawing a blank too.
- 1:41:56But I mean, did anybody read older or you say you liked
- 1:41:59Verity, Chelsea and yeah, older. Verity, I'm excited for Verity
- 1:42:03the movie to come out. I think been very well.
- 1:42:06I'm I'm excited about that, yeah.
- 1:42:08And without spoiling the ending, like I was telling people they
- 1:42:11need to read it because it's one of those ones almost like
- 1:42:13Inception where like you still don't know.
- 1:42:17Yeah. So the ending and so yeah, so
- 1:42:20it's yeah, it's really good. Yeah, so.
- 1:42:23The contemporary romance. Yeah, technically it's like it's
- 1:42:26one of her So Colleen Hoover's it's one of her darker ones, I
- 1:42:29would say. Cuz yeah, I.
- 1:42:31Don't think I've ever read anything by her.
- 1:42:33I'm pretty sure. It starts with us, it ends with
- 1:42:36us. I read those too.
- 1:42:37Yeah, that's the only ones I've read by her.
- 1:42:42Verity was very Yeah. And supposedly I think I read
- 1:42:46the version that has the extended epilogue or whatever at
- 1:42:51the end, so people. And then because I guess that
- 1:42:55came out later, like maybe like a year after or something.
- 1:42:59So people's opinions changed after.
- 1:43:03I never read. I never read the first version
- 1:43:05where they didn't have that extension.
- 1:43:07I only started with the newest version which had.
- 1:43:09It so you're telling me I need to go read that because I had no
- 1:43:12idea. You got to read the end.
- 1:43:14Yeah, I, I can. I would totally be team.
- 1:43:19Oh my God. What is it?
- 1:43:20Team Manuscript? And what's the other one?
- 1:43:22I'm talking, Yeah. What is it?
- 1:43:23You know, I'm talking about team manuscript and team what do they
- 1:43:26call it? It's like, well, anyway, I was,
- 1:43:28I, I see why people changed their minds on which team they
- 1:43:34are in because of that little extra spot at the end, a little
- 1:43:38extra information they put in there, but I still am a little
- 1:43:41unclear. But I I think I'm team, not the
- 1:43:48manuscript, whatever they call it.
- 1:43:49Okay, do you know what? I'm talking about.
- 1:43:51I have to find it. I have to see well, because I
- 1:43:54didn't know what. Is it called?
- 1:43:55I didn't know about that blog thing, so that changes
- 1:43:58everything. Team reality, baby team reality.
- 1:44:02But you know what I mean? Like the one is like the people
- 1:44:04that believed it was the manuscript and the other or the
- 1:44:06people that believed it was like the real life situation and they
- 1:44:10made in that a certain way. But it's very okay.
- 1:44:14Team manuscript versus team letter debate.
- 1:44:17Yes, okay. OK.
- 1:44:20So if you're if you're remembering the there's like the
- 1:44:24manuscript versus the reality. So you'll have to read that
- 1:44:29final. Blurb I see and I'm team
- 1:44:31manuscript but but now I need to read this this extra to know.
- 1:44:36Yes, you might change your opinion on that.
- 1:44:38I I'm I would, I would have been team manuscript too.
- 1:44:41And now I'm now. Now I don't know, now I don't.
- 1:44:45Know it's like Inception, like you.
- 1:44:47Really. There is no right answer.
- 1:44:48Nobody has ever heard now. Weird.
- 1:44:52Yeah, it's pretty awesome. How many books would you say are
- 1:44:56on your TBR list? Too many I don't even know.
- 1:45:00I can't even and it's like I'm so unorganized with that.
- 1:45:02I don't even have a list of them.
- 1:45:04I just, I know in my brain what I want to read and sometimes
- 1:45:07it'll pop up is some I'll see you in a review and I'll be
- 1:45:09like, that's the one I've wanted to read for years and I haven't.
- 1:45:13But yeah, The Butcher of the Blackbird, that whole series I
- 1:45:17want to read. I want to read Quicksilver
- 1:45:19because I haven't yet. I read, my God, I read Lights
- 1:45:23Out and I haven't read any of the other ones of that.
- 1:45:26I would like to do that Onyx Storm.
- 1:45:29I want to finish the Flesh and Fire from Blood and Ash series,
- 1:45:33Anything Penelope Douglas because I'm obsessed with
- 1:45:36Penelope Douglas that I haven't read yet.
- 1:45:38I will read. I have 336 books right now my
- 1:45:43TBR list because we've been, well, it wasn't no, but, but it
- 1:45:48was over 400. And then I did the purge here a
- 1:45:52few weeks ago when we did our quarter 2 mega episode.
- 1:45:57I I purged a whole bunch because I had a lot of things on there
- 1:46:00that I added when I first started Bookstream and, and now
- 1:46:03as I look back at it, I realize I'm probably not going to get to
- 1:46:07those, but still 300 and 3036 is, is, but now it now, if you
- 1:46:15haven't read anything by Melissa K Rohrich, have you ever thought
- 1:46:19of reading the Legacy series? That is a very good one.
- 1:46:22It's very dark and everybody's morally Gray.
- 1:46:25Oh. Yes, it's very good.
- 1:46:27I I have her Lady of Darkness series I got for Christmas and
- 1:46:31it's sitting I have so many. My husband got me 30 some books,
- 1:46:34I think for Christmas. Yeah.
- 1:46:35That's amazing. So I have a lot of books on my
- 1:46:38physical TBR right here beside me, but I have 336 on my TBR.
- 1:46:44There's that's a oof. There's a lot of, there's a
- 1:46:47there's a lot of indie indie author books too I want to check
- 1:46:50out. Most of mine are indie.
- 1:46:52Most of mine are indie. But yeah, there's like Jana's
- 1:46:56son for today's this month is Mermaid.
- 1:47:00And if you like those books, if you like mermaid books, the Seas
- 1:47:03Between Us by her is really good.
- 1:47:06And she's got a couple other books in in the series that I
- 1:47:10want to check out as well. And she's a she's she's a good
- 1:47:13friend of mine. She's amazing.
- 1:47:14She's a beautiful writer. But like, there's definitely
- 1:47:17some indie gems in the mermaid mermaid I'm being introduced to
- 1:47:21because we're all in this like collaboration, this group chat.
- 1:47:25So I'm like, Oh my gosh, I'm like your book.
- 1:47:27I'm going to read your. Book I'm going to read there's.
- 1:47:30Another one, Amelia Amelia Ji. Want to read her books?
- 1:47:35She's an indie author, and she does like them.
- 1:47:39It's a wreath between the tides, beneath the tides.
- 1:47:42Yes. Yeah, I've seen a lot about
- 1:47:44that. So I love this new mermaid
- 1:47:47thing, and this is my first time seeing it really hit.
- 1:47:50I love seeing Rose Moon on there and LJ Andrews.
- 1:47:53It's it's been fun. We've had some neat ones because
- 1:47:57I haven't read. I just started into my worlds of
- 1:48:00pirates because I read Rhiannon Haggarten's bloody black.
- 1:48:06That is a very good and that was my first pirate book that I got
- 1:48:09into. And then now I have L JS
- 1:48:12Andrews, the ever seas. I have them Chelsea just read
- 1:48:16the ever king. I have mine minor sitting on my
- 1:48:18shelf, but I'm going to wait because the stolen crown comes
- 1:48:22out in October. So I'm going to kind of wait.
- 1:48:25So I keep things fresh in my mind.
- 1:48:27No. Let me ask you this, Heidi, You
- 1:48:28know, since there's like, you know, like time periods from
- 1:48:30when your first book comes out to your second book.
- 1:48:33Do you ever consider putting at the beginning, like of the
- 1:48:36second book, a little like refresher, like a paragraph or a
- 1:48:41page or two so that people can remember what your book, your
- 1:48:45first book was about? Have you ever considered doing
- 1:48:47that? I haven't, but now I am because
- 1:48:50that's a really good idea. I've never I.
- 1:48:52Love that. Yeah, it's becoming, so it's
- 1:48:55becoming a thing that book like books around, like people are
- 1:48:58asking for it. Yeah.
- 1:48:59So if you've never heard of that, it's it's a good trend to
- 1:49:02jump on. That's really.
- 1:49:04Awesome, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:49:05I actually will consider doing that.
- 1:49:07That's a great. Because going from a year or
- 1:49:10more, you know, between books or when they come out, we don't
- 1:49:14always remember. No, you can write it.
- 1:49:18You know how you have like the journal entries kind of from
- 1:49:21Carter, like you could almost do it in his hand, you know, like
- 1:49:24or in his voice. So.
- 1:49:27What a great idea. Yes, I could totally do that.
- 1:49:32That's like, yeah, because like when I get when I send Rosemoon
- 1:49:35out or not Rose in the second book out to beta readers, some
- 1:49:38people were like planning on doing a reread of it.
- 1:49:41But like if they're not, I I have this really.
- 1:49:44I queried Rosemoon for a hot minute back in the day.
- 1:49:48So I have like a three page, one page, 2 page, three page
- 1:49:51synopsis of it. Really dry, really boring
- 1:49:53because that's how literary agents.
- 1:49:55Want it? So I'm like, I'm like worrying
- 1:49:57people like it's boring. I'll send it to you.
- 1:49:59So it's like a three page synopsis of Rosemoon.
- 1:50:01But there's also certain pages of Rose Moon I want them to
- 1:50:04reference like like moving forward so it makes sense in the
- 1:50:08next book. So that's that's a great idea,
- 1:50:10Chelsea. I could take that information
- 1:50:12and turn it into Carter. Quid diary at you right up.
- 1:50:15Front. Yes, sweet.
- 1:50:17Hot damn, That's awesome. Thank you.
- 1:50:19You're. Welcome.
- 1:50:22I, you know, I love, I love those kind of things in the
- 1:50:24book. I love when like there's a lot
- 1:50:26of like terminology or different creatures and things.
- 1:50:30Heather and I have said it too, and also just we love a
- 1:50:32glossary. Like when you have that with a
- 1:50:34little even not necessarily that it gives things away, but it
- 1:50:37helps. We love family trees, we love
- 1:50:40glossaries, we love maps and we love a beginning synopsis.
- 1:50:45So we don't between books. Yeah.
- 1:50:47The nice thing about that, the awesome is you don't really need
- 1:50:49like the glossary part, which is nice because it's like modern
- 1:50:52world and then the ocean world that we're probably going to get
- 1:50:55more of in Book 2 probably maybe.
- 1:51:00So that's the cool part is that you don't really have to like
- 1:51:02spend so much time on that part. But yeah, like those heavy
- 1:51:06romanticies, those are differently nice to have.
- 1:51:08Oh yeah, I I actually, it's funny, I'm sort of creating my
- 1:51:12own. I had to, I'm I'm total panster
- 1:51:15when I write not a plotter at all, but I've I've been forced
- 1:51:18to be, I learned this new term called a plotster recently.
- 1:51:22I didn't even, I was like, that's a thing.
- 1:51:24I'm like, OK, so I've been forced to being a little bit
- 1:51:27more of a lobster because I am writing a series.
- 1:51:30So I can't keep I'm not smart enough to keep track of it
- 1:51:32without sort of plotting it out. But so I'm kind of writing this
- 1:51:37as I go like I was forced to do this time, this really in depth,
- 1:51:41like timeline to keep everything straight and I'm kind of doing a
- 1:51:45character encyclopedia. This is all for myself that I
- 1:51:49eventually, because I am I do develop things sometimes as I
- 1:51:53write, like not ahead of time. So eventually that I probably
- 1:51:57probably will put those things in there.
- 1:52:00Like I can't put it in Rose mood because it wouldn't make any
- 1:52:02sense. But for the books that it
- 1:52:03applies to, I probably will put that in.
- 1:52:06Even if it's not coming out right away, I'll probably put
- 1:52:09that in eventually because yeah, some of this stuff I'm
- 1:52:13developing like as I go to. So it's kind of like.
- 1:52:16See, I like that. Behind the scenes.
- 1:52:22Every everyone's so different with how they write like they
- 1:52:24really are. I think it's a blessing and a
- 1:52:28curse to be a panster of a writer because it is because
- 1:52:32like I the the the blessing of it is everything's very like
- 1:52:35organic. So I don't know sometimes where
- 1:52:38things are going to go until they're hot off my fingertips.
- 1:52:42Like I have a general idea, but so like the emotion and
- 1:52:46everything that's coming out of me, it's happening in that
- 1:52:49moment. Like so you could, I think
- 1:52:52they're very raw emotions, but then trying to keep like track
- 1:52:57of the stories and and everything flowing together.
- 1:53:00It's very difficult for me. I don't think I was meant to
- 1:53:03write it like it, like a connected fantasy series of
- 1:53:07that. I'm doing it none the less.
- 1:53:08Yes, Yes, you are. Yeah.
- 1:53:11I say this is the last one I'm doing, and then I write crash
- 1:53:14and write it in there. And then it's like, you know,
- 1:53:16I'm like I'm only doing standalones or standalones in
- 1:53:18the universe from now on. But now I'll probably always
- 1:53:22connect them somehow. I don't know, maybe not.
- 1:53:24I love the interconnected, the little side quests and then the
- 1:53:28meetups. It just kinda gives us cuz I
- 1:53:31love seeing the characters that we love so much and other
- 1:53:34stories cuz then you get to visit them again.
- 1:53:36Yeah, so. That I had thought, yeah.
- 1:53:40It's hard as a author cuz you get very attached to your
- 1:53:43character. So I think that's why I don't, I
- 1:53:45think that's why I connect them. And I wrote something in Crash
- 1:53:49that I think I subconsciously did so I could write it into
- 1:53:54Rosemary and write into the Prophecy of Light series per se.
- 1:53:58And then, but I was totally done with the second book when I was
- 1:54:01going through the development model edit, I had to go in and I
- 1:54:03was so excited because I had to write in a scene where Spencer
- 1:54:07and Amanda from Crash meet, you know, the characters from The
- 1:54:12Prophecy of Light. It's a really fun scene too.
- 1:54:13So if you've read Crash, it'll be even more fun because you
- 1:54:16kind of know their back story, but.
- 1:54:19Well, see, I like that. I know.
- 1:54:22I love that. Yes, I'd like that.
- 1:54:25Like you take like in Fantasma, Enchantra, they're all stand
- 1:54:28now. Those are all standalones, but
- 1:54:30yet they're all interconnected. You have, you know, you you get
- 1:54:33to see the characters from Fantasma.
- 1:54:36You see them a little bit in Enchantra or like, like I was
- 1:54:39saying with the Legacy series, there are characters from Lady
- 1:54:42of Darkness that appear in that that even though Melissa said
- 1:54:46you can read them any order you want to Heather and I have our
- 1:54:49well, Heather has her thoughts of what we how I should have
- 1:54:51read it and I did not read it the way Heather wanted to, but I
- 1:54:54didn't think no at the time. But still you get to revisit
- 1:54:57those characters and it's so nice to see them again.
- 1:55:01I guess you could say, and I like that girls.
- 1:55:04This has been super fun today. I.
- 1:55:06Know. Have you had fun today?
- 1:55:08Heidi, I've got a blast today. Thank you for having me.
- 1:55:13Now, would you like to come back one day here, come back and
- 1:55:17visit with us because you know. Fun.
- 1:55:19People, yeah, your, your clips, your audio book clips.
- 1:55:23And we'll have to, you know, play them a little bit.
- 1:55:26Yeah, over those. Yeah, definitely.
- 1:55:29That'd be amazing. I'd love to come back on
- 1:55:31anytime. And you have to always remember
- 1:55:33the one thing with us is we never pronounce anything
- 1:55:36correct. So always remember that because
- 1:55:40we had the one thing we had was Victor and Vincent.
- 1:55:43That's from The Serpent in the Wings of Night.
- 1:55:45So if you have not read that book, his name is Vincent, but
- 1:55:49Heather and I call him Victor, or just so you know.
- 1:55:51Or is it? Or is it?
- 1:55:52Victor or is it? I'm going to have to read it so
- 1:55:56that I can I can straighten this.
- 1:55:57Up. Yeah, Chelsea needs to be our
- 1:55:59mediator. You have to.
- 1:56:01But that is another series that's it's amazing.
- 1:56:03You should check it out if you have not.
- 1:56:05But that's the series. That's the Crowns of Niacsis by
- 1:56:10Chris Abroad bent. The first one is the Serpent in
- 1:56:12the Wings of Night. Vampire.
- 1:56:14Because it's, it's, it's, yeah. It's. 33 duologies and there's
- 1:56:20two standalone or there's a novella and then there's a
- 1:56:26standalone that goes in the middle and the book, the first
- 1:56:30book of the third duology comes out in August.
- 1:56:35But it's it's very good. Oh, it's very.
- 1:56:37Good. It's a vampires I will write.
- 1:56:42I have the best. I'm going to write a vampire
- 1:56:44book one day and I have the best idea for one, and that's one day
- 1:56:48I'll write it. I do love a vampire.
- 1:56:50I love. You can, I do, I can.
- 1:56:52There's there like, can't be too many of them.
- 1:56:54Like I seriously love vampire books.
- 1:56:57You know I love. Vampires.
- 1:56:59I love Bram Stoker there and I love Dracula and my favorite,
- 1:57:03favorite line from that book is I've crossed oceans of time to
- 1:57:08find you every time. And I think that's the moment of
- 1:57:12when I fell in love with vampires that with those books
- 1:57:16and I just there's something about that line.
- 1:57:18If my husband said that to me, that would be it.
- 1:57:21If are all of our husbands could say the lines that these men say
- 1:57:24in our books, we'd all be putting or we'd have 750
- 1:57:28children. I would look at you.
- 1:57:30I'm like, who are you? I know.
- 1:57:33I do right? I do want to see the new Dracula
- 1:57:36movie. They they we did it is.
- 1:57:39That great you watched it Someone else that I am on a chat
- 1:57:43with she she's like it looks really good through the trailer,
- 1:57:46but it's very disappointing when you watch it so.
- 1:57:49I didn't even know they did a new Dracula.
- 1:57:52When did that come out? I think came out in February.
- 1:57:55Oh, OK, I didn't. Even like.
- 1:57:57The thing? And it's well, in the trailer
- 1:58:02and stuff, it's like, you know, you, you, you see him, Dracula,
- 1:58:06you know, of course we all know who he is.
- 1:58:08And his wife dies because this is the trailer.
- 1:58:11So this isn't like spoiler. So it's in the trailer.
- 1:58:13And she dies and he has to wait until she's born again.
- 1:58:17And then he has to find her. And he finds, and I think it's
- 1:58:20like in London or something like that, and he finds her again.
- 1:58:23And of course she doesn't know him and it's and then from what
- 1:58:28I gather from the trailer and stuff like that, then she
- 1:58:31remembers who he is and it looks, it looked really good.
- 1:58:35But that's how they disappoint. Yeah, the concept of that sounds
- 1:58:38awesome. Again, he crossed oceans of time
- 1:58:42to find her. That's what he had to do.
- 1:58:44See. Exactly.
- 1:58:46Premise is cute. Wait, what was that?
- 1:58:49Wasn't the original Dracula premise right?
- 1:58:52Like what was the? In Draco Bram Stokers.
- 1:58:58It's a long. Time don't.
- 1:59:00Know I can't remember I don't. Well that's what he says with
- 1:59:04Johnny Depp. Wasn't Johnny Depp in wasn't he
- 1:59:07Dracula? Was that him in Bram store?
- 1:59:09Who was the guy that played Bram Stoker's?
- 1:59:11Gary Oldman? What?
- 1:59:13Didn't he been him? Didn't he do a Dracula?
- 1:59:15It might be the last one I know I'm Googling.
- 1:59:18Because there's the one. And he sees Winona Ryder because
- 1:59:20I know she was in it, remember? And he has the little the little
- 1:59:23glasses on. It has been such a long.
- 1:59:26Time. Since I have.
- 1:59:28See, I think the reason you and I like, we like vampires because
- 1:59:32we grew up in the era of Anne Rice, you know?
- 1:59:35We grew up boys, the Lost Boys. We grew up with Interview with
- 1:59:39the Vampire, you know. That was a great book.
- 1:59:44Great book and great movie. I was obsessed with the Lost
- 1:59:46Boys. They were amazing.
- 1:59:48Yeah. We grew up in.
- 1:59:49Oh yeah. The movie first Dracula you had.
- 1:59:52Gary Oldman. It looks like.
- 1:59:53Oh, is that who it was? Why did I think it was Johnny
- 1:59:55Depp? It's because he went with Ryan.
- 1:59:57Nota Ryder. Maybe that's what I was
- 1:59:59thinking. Johnny Johnny Depp would make a
- 2:00:01great vampire. Holy smokes.
- 2:00:03Imagine him as Dracula. Oh.
- 2:00:06My Keanu, he is. He is on my wrist.
- 2:00:08Yeah. Keanu Rebecca, what's your
- 2:00:12Reddit information? The one of the first title under
- 2:00:16discussions and forums is Dracula 2025.
- 2:00:19A pile of trash. That's the title someone has on
- 2:00:23Reddit it. Had such a good premise though.
- 2:00:25When you see the the the trailer, it just looks like one
- 2:00:29of those, you know, those feelings, you know he crossed
- 2:00:33all that time to get her back again.
- 2:00:35You know that reincarnation kind of thing.
- 2:00:38I. Don't know, maybe since you're a
- 2:00:39fan it might be good. It could go one way or the
- 2:00:42other, right? Like you're a fan of Dracula.
- 2:00:44Maybe it's like, oh, this is not like the original and I hate it.
- 2:00:48Or maybe this is my story. But I love vampire stories in
- 2:00:52general, you know, I do too. I've been on a vampire kickly
- 2:00:56because I was, like I told you, stocked by seduction and that
- 2:00:59that's a vampire. Now he now he did.
- 2:01:01Now he has a kind of a thing happened in there.
- 2:01:02He watched her from when she was five years old but not and he
- 2:01:06was like a 200 or 300 some year old vampire, but he wasn't
- 2:01:09watching her in like he wanted her as a child in.
- 2:01:13He discovers her then and watches her every so many years
- 2:01:16and then he sees her as an adult.
- 2:01:18But he knows there's some type of connection between them
- 2:01:22because his name's Rune and her name's Scarlett and he knows
- 2:01:25there's a connection but he wants her to live her life.
- 2:01:28So even though he sees her and that he walks away from her, but
- 2:01:31yet kind of still coming back together.
- 2:01:34Jacob Renesme from Twilight thing all over again.
- 2:01:37Yeah. But I told you, I told you guys
- 2:01:40and I, I still have to look up the thing.
- 2:01:42I have to look for it for you. Or maybe I did send it to you.
- 2:01:44But they have that thing. You can go.
- 2:01:46It's the people that did Mystery Theater 3000.
- 2:01:49They have their thing and you can buy it and you download it
- 2:01:53and you play it while you're watching Twilight.
- 2:01:56And they said it makes the movies a million times better
- 2:01:59because they have commentary through the entire movie.
- 2:02:03But you guys don't know what Mystery Theatre 3000 is.
- 2:02:06You don't remember? It's like a parody.
- 2:02:08No, they like, they do the whole parody thing.
- 2:02:10Yeah. They do, they have, they comment
- 2:02:12through the whole thing. Yeah, like.
- 2:02:14They talk, Heidi, do you remember about the movie The
- 2:02:16whole time? Yes, Heidi, do you remember it?
- 2:02:19Mystery Theatre 3. 1000 it's like these person.
- 2:02:21I like that. It's like sparking, sort of.
- 2:02:24It's sparking. I don't think I'm very familiar
- 2:02:26with it, but I think I know of it.
- 2:02:29Like they would watch movies, they would have the movie on the
- 2:02:31screen and I think you could see like their silhouettes or maybe
- 2:02:35it was just you could hear them. Do you remember now what I'm
- 2:02:37talking about? Yes, I do.
- 2:02:39I do. I not like, I don't think I've
- 2:02:41seen very much of it, but I know what you're talking about.
- 2:02:44Well, they they have. That thing is.
- 2:02:47So now they have a website because they don't do that show
- 2:02:49anymore on TV and they have a website and you can download all
- 2:02:53different ones from different movies and you can play it
- 2:02:57alongside while you're watching the movie.
- 2:02:59And they said it makes it better.
- 2:03:01That's why I like the whole entire series because I mean,
- 2:03:04I've only watched the movies. These girls have told me the
- 2:03:07books are much better. I have only watched the movies,
- 2:03:10but I thought the movies were fine.
- 2:03:12I don't know, but I've watched many moons ago.
- 2:03:15I think it I watched them while I was pregnant with my oldest.
- 2:03:18So that's been a long time. So my judgment might not be the
- 2:03:22best there, but I I want to try the I want to do the little
- 2:03:25thing where they they have the murder or mystery theater
- 2:03:28people. Again.
- 2:03:30They said it's really good but I'll have to look and I'll send
- 2:03:32you the link when I find it. I'll send it to you.
- 2:03:34Please do. But now, Heidi, well before we
- 2:03:39go, will you tell everybody where they can find you, find
- 2:03:43your books, find you on Instagram, all that good stuff?
- 2:03:46Yeah, right now my books are only on Amazon.
- 2:03:50Hopefully that will expand in the future, but right now you
- 2:03:53can get them on Amazon. I'm most active on Instagram.
- 2:03:58My handle is what is my handle? Heidi Adams, author.
- 2:04:01That's my Heidi. Under score Adams.
- 2:04:05I think you have you have underscores, I think in there,
- 2:04:08isn't it, Heidi? Under score, Adams, author or
- 2:04:11under score, Yes, we'll have it on our description.
- 2:04:13OK, that's where I'm the most active.
- 2:04:15I mean, I'm I have a tiny presence on TikTok.
- 2:04:18I don't understand that app at all.
- 2:04:20So I'm just kind of on there. But but most most active on on
- 2:04:24Instagram. For sure.
