- Lucas: Welcome back, everyone, to another episode of Learn Telugu with Fexingo. I'm Lucas, and today I've got Luna with me again. Luna, how's it going? Luna: I'm doing great, Lucas. I've been practicing my Telugu phrases, but I think I need a haircut. I've been putting it off. Lucas: Perfect timing, because today we're going to the barbershop. We're going to learn how to talk to the barber in Telugu. This is a super practical skill. Luna: Oh, I need this. I always get nervous when I go to a new place and can't speak the language. Let's learn how to say 'I need a haircut.' Lucas: Great phrase to start with. In Telugu, 'నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి' means 'I need a haircut.' Let's break it down. నాకు means 'to me' or 'I need,' కత్తిరింపు means 'haircut,' and కావాలి means 'need.' Luna: నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి. That's a mouthful. నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి. Lucas: That's it. You've got the rhythm. Remember, నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి. Now, imagine you're sitting in the chair. The barber asks what you'd like. You might want to say 'Just a little off.' Luna: How do I say that? 'కాస్త తగ్గించండి' maybe? Lucas: Exactly. కాస్త means 'a little,' తగ్గించండి means 'reduce' or 'cut less.' So కాస్త తగ్గించండి is 'Please trim a little.' Luna: కాస్త తగ్గించండి. I like that. It sounds gentle. So if I want a little off the top, I'd say కాస్త తగ్గించండి. Lucas: Perfect. Now, after the barber is done, you'll want to check the mirror and say if you like it. Can you guess how to say 'I like it'? Luna: Is it 'ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది'? We learned that in the clothing store episode. Lucas: Great memory. ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది means 'I like this.' And if you're happy with the whole haircut, you can say ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది. Let's repeat that together. ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది. Luna: ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది. That rolls off the tongue now. And what if I'm not sure and I want to leave it to the barber's taste? How do I say 'Do whatever you think looks good'? Lucas: That's a fun one. మీరు నచ్చినట్టు చేయండి, which means 'Do as you like' or 'Do whatever you think is best.' మీరు is 'you,' నచ్చినట్టు means 'as you like,' చేయండి is 'do.' Luna: మీరు నచ్చినట్టు చేయండి. That's a bit of a tongue twister. మీరు నచ్చినట్టు చేయండి. I'll practice that. Lucas: Before we continue with more barbershop phrases, let's take a moment to talk about something close to our hearts. This show is ad-free and it's all thanks to listeners like you who support us. Luna: Yeah, and it really makes a difference. We appreciate every single one of you who listens and learns with us. Lucas: So, back to the barbershop. Now, let's imagine you're in the chair and the barber asks how you want it. You can respond with మీరు నచ్చినట్టు చేయండి. That's a great way to show trust. Luna: I like that. But what if I want something specific, like 'I want a shave' or 'I want a beard trim'? Lucas: Let's stick with what we have for today. But you could say 'నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి' for any kind of trimming. For a beard trim, you might say 'నాకు గడ్డం కత్తిరింపు కావాలి,' but let's not overcomplicate it. Luna: Good point. We'll keep it simple. But can I practice with a little scenario? You be the barber. Lucas: Sure, I'll be the barber. You walk in and say నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి. Luna: నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి. Lucas: Then I'd say, 'కాస్త తగ్గించానా?' meaning 'Should I trim a little?' Luna: And I'd say కాస్త తగ్గించండి. Then after, I look in the mirror and say ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది. Lucas: That's perfect. You've got the whole conversation. Let's run through a few more times to make sure it sticks. నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి. కాస్త తగ్గించండి. ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది. మీరు నచ్చినట్టు చేయండి. Luna: నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి. కాస్త తగ్గించండి. ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది. మీరు నచ్చినట్టు చేయండి. I think I could do this without thinking now. Lucas: That's exactly what we want. Repetition is your friend. Now, one last thing: when you're done and leaving, you might want to say thank you. We learned 'ధన్యవాదాలు' in an earlier episode, right? Luna: Yes! ధన్యవాదాలు. I remember that. So I'd walk out saying ధన్యవాదాలు and then use my new haircut. Lucas: Exactly. And that's a wrap for today's episode. We covered నాకు కత్తిరింపు కావాలి, కాస్త తగ్గించండి, ఇది నాకు నచ్చింది, మీరు నచ్చినట్టు చేయండి. Practice them, and come back for more Telugu with Fexingo. See you next time. Luna: Bye everyone, and happy learning.
