- 0:00SPEAKER_03: And we're live.
- 0:00Hello,
- 0:01everyone,
- 0:02to another episode of the Substack Writer's Salon.
- 0:06SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 0:06SPEAKER_03: So today I have with me for the second time on this show,
- 0:11SPEAKER_03: because he has a lot to give,
- 0:13SPEAKER_03: is author and marketing strategist Gunnar Havits.
- 0:19SPEAKER_03: So,
- 0:20SPEAKER_03: Gunnar,
- 0:20SPEAKER_03: for those who don't know him,
- 0:22SPEAKER_03: but he's quite famous on Substack,
- 0:24SPEAKER_03: he's a busy book builder,
- 0:26SPEAKER_03: strategic networker,
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: and a 28-time published author,
- 0:32SPEAKER_03: course creator,
- 0:33SPEAKER_03: emcee,
- 0:33SPEAKER_03: and public speaker from Sydney,
- 0:36SPEAKER_03: Australia.
- 0:37SPEAKER_03: All right, Gunnar, I'm so happy to have you today.
- 0:40And today we're going to talk about a different topic than we
- 0:43talked about last time.
- 0:45And this time we are going to talk about creating audiobooks if
- 0:51you're a self-published author.
- 0:53all right so for for those who who don't know how this works if
- 0:57you're published
- 0:58with a traditional publisher um usually they would take care of
- 1:03usually i mean
- 1:04things are changing and publishers are cutting budgets but they
- 1:08usually take care
- 1:11of the budget and the recording for your audiobook so they
- 1:16either record it in a
- 1:17SPEAKER_03: studio with a professional voice actor or you actually do it but
- 1:22what would you do if you're a published author and
- 1:26self-published or author and an
- 1:28indie author what are your options should you use ai should you
- 1:33use like a voice
- 1:35cloning um tools like 11 labs how much does it cost can you do
- 1:40it from home so so
- 1:41so many questions but today the expert gunnar is gonna tell us
- 1:46how to do it so
- 1:47SPEAKER_03: gunnar
- 1:48SPEAKER_03: Thank you for joining me.
- 1:49SPEAKER_03: I know it's like midnight now in Australia, so I appreciate it.
- 1:53SPEAKER_03: So, Gunnar, the floor is yours.
- 1:55SPEAKER_03: I'm a self-published author.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: I want to go ahead and do an audiobook of my book.
- 2:03SPEAKER_03: What shall I do?
- 2:04SPEAKER_01: So first of all, thank you for inviting me again, Natasha.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: I really like this.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: And you're right.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: It's already next day for me.
- 2:10SPEAKER_01: So let me tell you where I'm actually coming from on that one.
- 2:13So I thought being non-native English speaker,
- 2:15I would never do audiobooks.
- 2:17But then I followed some books and realized,
- 2:20oh,
- 2:20I'd like to listen to it.
- 2:21SPEAKER_01: So I bought this book a couple of years ago,
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Combo Prospective,
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: from Tony Hughes,
- 2:25SPEAKER_01: who is an Australian sales expert.
- 2:27SPEAKER_01: I know him in person.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: He is really one of the most known in his field in Australia.
- 2:33traditional published book,
- 2:35and then I realized,
- 2:36oh,
- 2:36that's an audiobook.
- 2:37SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 2:38SPEAKER_01: I listened to it, and I said, that's not Tony.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: It feels weird.
- 2:42SPEAKER_01: I hear the voice.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: I know how he speaks at conferences.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: It's his words, but not his voice.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Then I realized, that's not good.
- 2:52SPEAKER_01: We all thought we should take care that it's our voice.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: But how to do it?
- 2:56Then when I created my first LinkedIn book called Connect and
- 3:00Act nearly three years ago,
- 3:01I got offered to have a professional audio book done so that it
- 3:05ends up with
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Audible,
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: that means Amazon,
- 3:07SPEAKER_01: with all of the rules that they have.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: And the studio,
- 3:10SPEAKER_01: not far away from here,
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: half an hour to go there,
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: is,
- 3:13SPEAKER_01: if all goes well,
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: he said,
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: maybe about $2,000,
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: $2,500.
- 3:15SPEAKER_01: Okay, if you take a look, it's just money and highly professional.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: But is it really worth it?
- 3:24SPEAKER_01: And is there a return of investment as a self-published author there?
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: I had my doubts.
- 3:30SPEAKER_01: Then I thought recently,
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: for a book that I published called Happy Heritage,
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: somewhere in my shelf over there.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I see it.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: I thought a good audiobook doesn't need to be so expensive.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: So what I've done was this.
- 3:48SPEAKER_01: You mentioned also 11labs.
- 3:49I really love this AI tool called 11labs because it does so
- 3:52many cool things on it.
- 3:55SPEAKER_01: But that is an AI clone, and that doesn't really get me into Amazon.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: But do I really need to publish my book over there?
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: What I've done, I wanted to have first to speak my book.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: I need to be able that I can read it aloud.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: Typically,
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: when I write a book,
- 4:12I would also try to read a chapter aloud just to see how it
- 4:14sounds at the first
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: time of preparing for audio while writing.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: Good, okay, I've done that.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: And then I went over Christmas time into a silent room in a hotel.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: There was nothing going on, no conference, no nothing.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Not really soundproof, but good enough.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: And I used a software called Riverside FM.
- 4:33And they have some tools built in there that allow,
- 4:35let's say,
- 4:38noise reduction and optimization.
- 4:40I had a free trial which was running,
- 4:42I think,
- 4:43two weeks or one week,
- 4:44whatever.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: But of course, I forgot to cancel that.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: So I'm a paid member.
- 4:49SPEAKER_01: It'll be 20 US dollars per month.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: And I forgot it again.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, these things happen.
- 4:55I work in software as a service,
- 4:56so I also enjoy being employed in that way.
- 4:59SPEAKER_01: Okay, then people forget it.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: So what?
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: So then I created this recording without thinking well enough,
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: and then realized,
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: oh,
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: I should record nothing.
- 5:11SPEAKER_01: So that the software knows not speaking is this decibel level.
- 5:16SPEAKER_01: So that it can then figure out if I speak or not speak
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: how it can then play with the sound.
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: So that's a good thing.
- 5:24So I recorded the whole book and didn't come on the idea that
- 5:27with 12 chapters,
- 5:28SPEAKER_01: I should have 12 takes.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: I summarized them three in one go, half an hour.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Not good.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: So I have done it again.
- 5:35SPEAKER_01: But these are things to learn that you don't know.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: So then finally,
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: I had 12 chapters of Happy Habits of my book,
- 5:42SPEAKER_01: plus intro and outro,
- 5:44SPEAKER_01: the main things of it.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: I spoke that.
- 5:47SPEAKER_01: So, but where to go with that?
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: Then I thought,
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: When I have not just Audible,
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: but when I have a place where I can sell my book,
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: I have a book funnel,
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: for example,
- 5:58SPEAKER_01: where people can buy my book directly from myself,
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: not necessarily Amazon,
- 6:03SPEAKER_01: but it's another channel,
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: people can just click on an order bump for $10 more,
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: and then they would get that one.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: So that's completely sold by myself as part of a funnel.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: That way is quite nice.
- 6:17SPEAKER_03: I'm going to stop you a bit here,
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: Gunnar,
- 6:19because you're giving us a lot of information and I'm going to
- 6:22just chunk it down.
- 6:23SPEAKER_03: Okay,
- 6:24SPEAKER_03: so I think for those who's listening,
- 6:26SPEAKER_03: I don't think they realize that,
- 6:28SPEAKER_03: or maybe some do,
- 6:30SPEAKER_03: that...
- 6:31SPEAKER_03: Audible does not accept AI-produced books, correct?
- 6:37SPEAKER_03: And the reason for that,
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: not because it's anti-AI,
- 6:39SPEAKER_03: I think because they want you to use their program,
- 6:43SPEAKER_03: I guess.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: And that's what I heard.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: But when you said you used Riverside and recorded and you said a sample,
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: are you saying that you read your whole book on Riverside?
- 6:56Or did you use a clip and you went to 11 lab and you made 11
- 7:01lab clone it?
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 7:04SPEAKER_01: Not yet.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: Not yet.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: I wanted to really read my whole book,
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: which actually helps when you first publish a book,
- 7:11SPEAKER_01: and let's say you do the audio a week later or so,
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: the book is out.
- 7:17You have maybe between finalizing the script and doing the
- 7:19audio might be three,
- 7:20SPEAKER_01: four weeks in between.
- 7:22And then read it aloud,
- 7:24recognize that might be something that you could change.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: So I had that.
- 7:27SPEAKER_01: There were two pieces in the book where while reading,
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: I realized,
- 7:30SPEAKER_01: oh,
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: I've done a typo in the world or something like that that I overlooked.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: So then publishing it by myself on Amazon,
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: I can easily go in there and do a new version without the error,
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: without the typo.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: So that was one thing that worked.
- 7:44SPEAKER_01: But I read the whole book, yeah.
- 7:46SPEAKER_03: Okay,
- 7:46so why wouldn't Amazon then accept Audible since you actually
- 7:52read it yourself if
- 7:54SPEAKER_03: you do not use AI?
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: My understanding,
- 7:57SPEAKER_03: and correct me if I'm wrong,
- 7:59SPEAKER_03: is Amazon won't accept it if you use a voice clone,
- 8:03SPEAKER_03: correct?
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: But why wouldn't they accept if you recorded it using Riverside?
- 8:11SPEAKER_01: The question is of the professional editing.
- 8:14SPEAKER_01: If you take all steps which are there,
- 8:16SPEAKER_01: when you have a book already,
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: you need to have someone speaking this book,
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: ideally the author.
- 8:23You need to have someone who edits this in that high
- 8:26professional way that Audible needs it.
- 8:28You can do it yourself or you ask someone,
- 8:30an expert,
- 8:31and then you can upload to it.
- 8:33So for me,
- 8:35the reason of reading and creating the book was actually I had
- 8:38a hidden agenda.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: I had a second book.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: a fiction book for which I wanted to have an 11-lapse recording,
- 8:46SPEAKER_01: an AI voice flower to make it quickly.
- 8:49But in order to do this,
- 8:50I needed to give 11-lapse,
- 8:53let's say,
- 8:53half an hour of me speaking.
- 8:56SPEAKER_01: So I thought, okay.
- 8:57SPEAKER_01: Then I use my book,
- 8:59SPEAKER_01: record the whole lot,
- 9:00and give a full Gunnar voice of two and a half hours and put
- 9:04that into 11-lapse.
- 9:05SPEAKER_01: But first, let's go back to this Riverside recording.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: From there, I have the raw files.
- 9:11I can edit them a little bit,
- 9:12but they are in different format that I can use.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: I can take it as it is out of Riverside and put it into Spotify.
- 9:20SPEAKER_01: Easy.
- 9:21SPEAKER_01: Then I already have an audiobook on Spotify.
- 9:24So Spotify would take it with the requirement of a highly
- 9:34produced audiobook like Amazon.
- 9:37So you're saying Spotify standards are lower when it comes to
- 9:43taking books,
- 9:44is that?
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: Or is Spotify have better tools?
- 9:48SPEAKER_03: Or why is Spotify embracing indie authors while Amazon is not?
- 9:54I would say it is because the market share of Audible is so
- 9:58great and Spotify wants
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: to more grab market share from them.
- 10:03So then they need to make it easier and reduce the burden while
- 10:07Audible tries to
- 10:08artificially do this so high so that it sits in a certain
- 10:15technical way to do it.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: So Spotify works.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: So then I have a book on Spotify.
- 10:19SPEAKER_01: Fine.
- 10:20SPEAKER_01: So then the next thing what I would do is either hire a sound engineer,
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: and I found some on Fiverr,
- 10:25SPEAKER_01: on AirTasker,
- 10:26SPEAKER_01: on Upwork,
- 10:27who would take a recording in Riverside or anything else and
- 10:31make this Audible
- 10:32SPEAKER_01: ready.
- 10:33SPEAKER_01: I could do it.
- 10:33Maybe it costed only $200 compared to the $2,500 for going into
- 10:38a professional studio.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: That would be cool.
- 10:41SPEAKER_01: I just haven't.
- 10:42So then that's the one part I'm still doing because the
- 10:44alternative is you go to an
- 10:46SPEAKER_01: editing software and try it by yourself.
- 10:49SPEAKER_01: But then I realized,
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: I took a software,
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: forgot the name of that actually,
- 10:55and I realized that grab from a source like Riverside and make
- 11:00it audible ready,
- 11:01but that is a software that needs someone who understands the
- 11:06rules of sound
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: mixing.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm a writer, I'm not a sound engineer.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: So then that was in the too hard basket, and then I stopped that.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: But here's the other thing.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: So when I have a recording in Riverside,
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: I have the files,
- 11:20and there's various ways how you can fine-tune them and edit
- 11:23them a little bit
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: better.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: So that's good.
- 11:25SPEAKER_01: And I have an article on Substack,
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: I think,
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: on the next weekend coming on that one,
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: with the details how to do it in Riverside,
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: what button to press on it,
- 11:33SPEAKER_01: that it comes easily out there.
- 11:35SPEAKER_01: But from that point of view, I thought, good, I have my recording.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: I use it as selling by myself, but how can I place it?
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: The tricky thing with audiobooks, we have people who have two options.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: Either they listen to an audiobook on the go.
- 11:51I don't really literally mean while you are walking or you are
- 11:54on public transport
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: or you are driving or joking,
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: whatever.
- 11:58SPEAKER_01: So you need to have a way to get it to be able to play that.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: Spotify is good for that.
- 12:03SPEAKER_01: And the alternative is you are sitting in front of something,
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: a platform that you can be used for an online call.
- 12:10SPEAKER_01: That's how I delivered that.
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: I used my online course platform to deliver the e-book,
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: the bonuses,
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: and if somebody also buys the audiobook,
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: then it comes also in there.
- 12:21SPEAKER_01: So then people would sit and listen to it this way.
- 12:25But what I want eventually is take it into Amazon,
- 12:27of course,
- 12:28into Audible.
- 12:29SPEAKER_03: Ah, okay.
- 12:30SPEAKER_03: So what are you saying is that, okay, so there's different steps.
- 12:34SPEAKER_03: Let's basically make it, streamline it.
- 12:38SPEAKER_03: I go, like, let's say I'm in this room.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: It's quiet.
- 12:41There's no dog barking or whatever,
- 12:44which you might have to get my dog in because he's barking.
- 12:47SPEAKER_03: Anyways, so I go to, we're keeping it real here.
- 12:52SPEAKER_03: So I go to, I open my computer.
- 12:55SPEAKER_03: I open Riverside.
- 12:56SPEAKER_03: I take, like, this is my book.
- 12:58SPEAKER_03: say fiction,
- 12:59SPEAKER_03: and I start reading,
- 13:00SPEAKER_03: I record it,
- 13:02SPEAKER_03: let's say I record two hours of it at least,
- 13:05SPEAKER_03: and then I,
- 13:07SPEAKER_03: let's say I got very ambitious,
- 13:09SPEAKER_03: I recorded the whole thing,
- 13:11SPEAKER_03: and then I go directly and upload it on Spotify,
- 13:15SPEAKER_03: then the next step I hire an audio engineer to make it Audible ready,
- 13:20SPEAKER_03: and then put it on Audible,
- 13:23SPEAKER_03: And then after that,
- 13:24I would take the voice and use a voice clone in Eleven Labs to
- 13:32create that voice,
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: to create a fiction book.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: And my voice would be one of the characters, I guess.
- 13:40SPEAKER_03: And Audible will create the whole characters.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's what I've done.
- 13:44SPEAKER_01: I technically played it on two books.
- 13:46I could even use my voice clone for any other book that I'm
- 13:49writing or did write in the past.
- 13:52SPEAKER_01: Out of a two-hour recording,
- 13:54SPEAKER_01: the professional approach from Eleven Labs,
- 13:58SPEAKER_01: they allow you one professional voice clone and various normal ones.
- 14:04SPEAKER_01: The normal ones are not good enough,
- 14:05but the professional that you have once with an Eleven Labs
- 14:09account is really good.
- 14:11SPEAKER_01: So then when I had this voice clone,
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: which took maybe,
- 14:15SPEAKER_01: I don't know,
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: one hour,
- 14:16SPEAKER_01: two hours until I really embraced it,
- 14:19SPEAKER_01: I uploaded into Eleven Labs
- 14:23SPEAKER_01: my book,
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: the whole script,
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: and the funny thing,
- 14:26SPEAKER_01: it really understands when you upload a book script,
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: what is the title,
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: what is an H2 to H6 type of headline,
- 14:34SPEAKER_01: the letter,
- 14:35SPEAKER_01: so that at the end,
- 14:36SPEAKER_01: it looks good visually,
- 14:38SPEAKER_01: it's reading this,
- 14:39SPEAKER_01: and you click on the button in 11 left,
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: that it creates that.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: using this voice clone.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: And when you then realize,
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: oh,
- 14:45SPEAKER_01: I made a typo,
- 14:47SPEAKER_01: I want to change something,
- 14:48SPEAKER_01: you can change a word of an existing recording,
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: and it would only then change this little word that has been modified.
- 14:56SPEAKER_01: That's very well done in 11 labs.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: So then,
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: all of a sudden,
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: I uploaded the whole fiction book of 18,000 words,
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: maybe,
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: into 11 labs,
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: which took 30 minutes to produce,
- 15:08SPEAKER_01: despite the audio file is two hours long.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: That's the beauty of AI voice plumbing.
- 15:14SPEAKER_01: It's much faster, the whole thing.
- 15:17SPEAKER_03: Okay, so how much does it cost to clone your voice on Eleven Labs?
- 15:23SPEAKER_03: Because, you know, as indie authors, we're bootstrapping everything.
- 15:28SPEAKER_03: So, yeah.
- 15:30SPEAKER_03: And then here we have the questions from Anne Fernie saying,
- 15:33SPEAKER_03: Gunnar,
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: can you able to share screen to show us how to do this?
- 15:37SPEAKER_03: If you can go...
- 15:43SPEAKER_01: Let me get back into my 11 labs just to show that.
- 15:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it'll be good to show everyone.
- 15:52SPEAKER_03: It'll be like a masterclass.
- 15:53SPEAKER_03: I know this is a podcast, but it's also a video, so people can see that.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so one moment.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: I need to share out of this one, right?
- 16:07SPEAKER_01: So now hit me on that a bit.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: So let me get share screen.
- 16:14if i do that will you be able to see what i'm sharing now yeah
- 16:19i am yeah okay so
- 16:20this is your 11 lab screen great this is great all right so if
- 16:24you can if you can
- 16:25show us ah okay so just walk us around to show uh and also how
- 16:31much does all of
- 16:32SPEAKER_03: this cost because remember we're woodstrapping here um and
- 16:39SPEAKER_03: Let's see another voice.
- 16:40Yeah,
- 16:41the tricky thing on the price,
- 16:43let me just check the pricing out of this one.
- 16:45SPEAKER_01: Because I started to give this a free version beforehand,
- 16:51SPEAKER_01: just to find out,
- 16:53SPEAKER_01: is it worthy to do it?
- 16:55SPEAKER_01: And the pricing, if I go to, let me change this one here.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: Can you see here's the pricing?
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 16:59SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's not that.
- 17:01SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 17:01SPEAKER_01: So that's a free version that you can use.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: I took the...
- 17:09SPEAKER_01: I think I took the creator version.
- 17:11SPEAKER_01: It comes with a professional voice cloning that I have a really,
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: really,
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: really good quality that I wanted to have,
- 17:16SPEAKER_01: and more credits.
- 17:18SPEAKER_01: The credits is technically like a character on it.
- 17:21SPEAKER_01: I think it serves me well, so I needed more.
- 17:24SPEAKER_01: If I get only 30 credits for this type of $5 US dollar per month,
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: then it would get me maybe a shorter book.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: But then, if not, I need to wait for the next month to write more.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: What do the credits get you?
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: If you have 11,000 credits, what does that get you?
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: You have 100,000.
- 17:47SPEAKER_01: I think it's like words.
- 17:51SPEAKER_01: I actually started with a 30K because I thought my fairy tale is short.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: It would be a good one.
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: But then I realized, I'm missing a little bit.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Can I do it?
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: I would typically stop.
- 18:02But there's a button in it that allows you can get into more
- 18:08before the next
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: payment cycle comes.
- 18:10SPEAKER_01: But then you need to pay for a little bit on it.
- 18:13SPEAKER_01: So technically speaking, that was $5 per month.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: I maybe added $2 or $3 more to have a bit more.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: So what?
- 18:19SPEAKER_01: I think that was totally worth it.
- 18:21SPEAKER_01: But at least I started on...
- 18:25SPEAKER_01: what you call it, on a trial of the startup plan.
- 18:28SPEAKER_01: Of course, the time was not enough and then went into payment.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: But I don't go for annually, but at least that was worth doing this.
- 18:35SPEAKER_01: When I get back into my lead part, into the studio side of it.
- 18:41SPEAKER_01: Let me get and show you how that technique would look like.
- 18:43SPEAKER_01: I've done this one.
- 18:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, maybe that's a German verse.
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Maybe if I'm lucky, I can also get the English verse.
- 18:52SPEAKER_01: It might be easier to read, maybe.
- 18:55SPEAKER_01: Take me this one.
- 18:57SPEAKER_00: That's easier.
- 18:58SPEAKER_01: Easier to understand for the audience, yeah.
- 19:01SPEAKER_01: So I created the voice.
- 19:03SPEAKER_01: Here you see Guna English.
- 19:05And that was exactly this type of voice which had all of the
- 19:08topics in there.
- 19:10SPEAKER_01: I can even change at the end.
- 19:12SPEAKER_01: But I took the...
- 19:15two hours of my Happy Habits recording in it,
- 19:18and then had this professional voice.
- 19:20SPEAKER_01: And then later, I uploaded a book, a new book like this.
- 19:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, a lot of credits remaining.
- 19:25SPEAKER_01: I haven't done anything this month.
- 19:27And you see,
- 19:27it is a normal sentence and everything in it,
- 19:29and it marked down that I used my own
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: my own voice toward it.
- 19:33SPEAKER_01: If I would then say,
- 19:34SPEAKER_01: not fairytale,
- 19:37SPEAKER_01: I could say,
- 19:38SPEAKER_01: maybe,
- 19:40SPEAKER_01: how you would call it,
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: just fiction book,
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: it would realize that something is missing,
- 19:45SPEAKER_01: so we need to then do something more,
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: click on generate,
- 19:48and then it would try to get a little bit of the rest that has
- 19:52not been done yet.
- 19:54SPEAKER_03: So this voice is your clone, that's not you?
- 20:00wow uh brave new word my friend so basically uh i mean we
- 20:08cannot hear it here but
- 20:12it's okay so what you did is you uploaded the voice for the
- 20:17video that you recorded
- 20:18in riverside plugged it into 11 labs and then uploaded the text
- 20:24of the book
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: And then it took your voice clone and read this for you.
- 20:28SPEAKER_03: And boom, it's ready.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: You upload it on Spotify.
- 20:32SPEAKER_03: And you can also take the file, send it to a professional editor.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: But would Audible accept it?
- 20:40SPEAKER_03: No.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: No, Audible doesn't.
- 20:43SPEAKER_01: But so what?
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: Audible is not everything.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: But first of all,
- 20:46SPEAKER_01: what I like,
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: you can see on the right-hand side,
- 20:49SPEAKER_01: it really has every chapter there by itself.
- 20:51SPEAKER_01: Everything fits on there.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: I could even...
- 20:55SPEAKER_01: You see that a paragraph is a paragraph properly.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: That's actually really good.
- 21:00SPEAKER_01: I enjoy seeing this and ensure that it also fits well.
- 21:04SPEAKER_01: And it creates also the separate files.
- 21:07SPEAKER_01: Then I can say, yeah, it is published.
- 21:11SPEAKER_01: Okay, hold on.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: I can export only chapters, separate chapters.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: Here, like only a chapter.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: It gets me a single file.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: in WAV or MP3.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: So MP3 is easier to handle.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: WAV would be a bit more bigger.
- 21:30SPEAKER_01: Like just audio format.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: And that's it.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Exposed and have the separate files.
- 21:33SPEAKER_01: Properly linked.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: All good.
- 21:35But then what you can also do to take a full project to have
- 21:39everything in one zip
- 21:40SPEAKER_01: file and all done.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: Cool.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: But, and here's an interesting thing.
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: What this does, it costs 23 credits to generate the remaining paragraphs.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: You remember, I've changed a little thing on it.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: It's peanut.
- 21:55SPEAKER_01: So what?
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: I have plenty of it.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: So that's good.
- 21:58SPEAKER_01: And then it creates these files, and it has something.
- 22:01Out of here,
- 22:02I can bring it from the 11 Labs into Spotify and into 11
- 22:08Reader.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: And 11 Reader is their own.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: It's a marketplace.
- 22:12SPEAKER_01: And here's one thing which is often totally overlooked.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: Let me try to...
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: Remember, I built.com.
- 22:26SPEAKER_01: What is Smile Audio?
- 22:30I hope I picked the right link because I'm not as good at
- 22:34memorizing long links.
- 22:36SPEAKER_01: And I'll show you this one.
- 22:39SPEAKER_01: You don't see the URL here, but it's massively long, but so on.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: So this is what comes out of Eleven Reader.
- 22:46SPEAKER_01: It's their own
- 22:47SPEAKER_01: app to listen.
- 22:49SPEAKER_01: And here, you can buy it for $10.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: And you have the whole thing.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: Completely ready.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: All of the chapters about the author, everything there.
- 22:59SPEAKER_01: And so I have this one.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: It's two of them in the series.
- 23:04SPEAKER_01: It looks actually quite good.
- 23:05SPEAKER_01: It's also good on mobile.
- 23:06SPEAKER_01: I'm very happy about that.
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: And I'm technically in it now as a reader, not as me.
- 23:11SPEAKER_01: There's a preview to it.
- 23:13SPEAKER_01: The interest here, you can see something, can play it.
- 23:17SPEAKER_01: The interesting thing of this one,
- 23:18SPEAKER_01: you see I put an image of the book,
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: so to say,
- 23:22SPEAKER_01: but that is in a portrait aspect ratio,
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: while Spotify,
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: for example,
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: and Audible,
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: they have a square image to it.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: So I needed to know the aspect ratio,
- 23:34what it is that I can create it out of the Kindle version of
- 23:37the book into this
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: one,
- 23:38slightly different on the aspect ratio in terms of how high
- 23:42versus how wide.
- 23:44SPEAKER_01: So therefore, I created multiple versions for this one.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: But here, it's there.
- 23:48SPEAKER_01: And the other aspect would be to say,
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: I go back to where BIM,
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: share this tab instead,
- 23:54SPEAKER_01: I can publish directly to Spotify.
- 23:57SPEAKER_01: And then it would land in Spotify.
- 23:59SPEAKER_01: So if I would go,
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: sorry,
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: how that would look like in Spotify,
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: Tales to Travel,
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: Smile,
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: I hope I picked the right URL.
- 24:09SPEAKER_01: I use a lot of domain redirect.
- 24:12SPEAKER_01: So the series is called Tales to Travel.
- 24:14SPEAKER_01: I have tales2travel.com slash
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: smile-spotify.
- 24:19SPEAKER_01: That should be the Spotify version.
- 24:20SPEAKER_01: If I've done that, well, I have.
- 24:23SPEAKER_01: No, I haven't.
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: So that's the wrong link.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Sometimes happened.
- 24:28SPEAKER_01: What would it be?
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: Ah, it still goes to LNVIDA.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Let me do it a different way.
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: Let me try to find the directory on Spotify.
- 24:36SPEAKER_00: Should work, right?
- 24:41SPEAKER_00: Share this tab instead.
- 24:43SPEAKER_00: Here.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: This is the other of those two.
- 24:46directly in spotify and it was really uploaded from um 11 labs
- 24:55into here the only
- 24:57difference that you see beforehand it showed 9.99 here it was
- 25:0112.99 but who said
- 25:04the price did you i do i do but the confusion comes i don't
- 25:08sell it more expensive
- 25:10SPEAKER_01: But what they do,
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: my Spotify shows Australian dollar automatically,
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: while the 11 Labs version that came with the US dollar.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: When you see here, we use the same sign, right?
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: I mean,
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: there's a Singapore dollar,
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: there's a TV dollar,
- 25:34SPEAKER_01: there's an Aussie dollar,
- 25:35SPEAKER_01: Canadian dollar,
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: and I heard the Americans also have a dollar.
- 25:39SPEAKER_01: It's not the Chinese yen.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: It's not the Chinese yen.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: No.
- 25:48But when you see a dollar sign,
- 25:50it doesn't necessarily always mean it is U.S.
- 25:52SPEAKER_01: dollar.
- 25:52So when I go to here again,
- 25:55on this version,
- 25:55you can see it has the image in square.
- 26:00SPEAKER_01: But otherwise, the same type of show notes in there.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: It's the same thing, technically speaking.
- 26:05SPEAKER_01: It just ends up here on Spotify.
- 26:09SPEAKER_01: So if I run,
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: for example,
- 26:10SPEAKER_01: a podcast that sits on Spotify,
- 26:13it also has an audiobook that actually is cool because you can
- 26:16link it together.
- 26:18SPEAKER_03: Oh, wow.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: You know, Gunnar, you just changed my life here.
- 26:21SPEAKER_03: All right.
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: This is just like my mind is blown.
- 26:25SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 26:27You mentioned something that you give the audiobook on your
- 26:32coaching platform along
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: with the book funnel.
- 26:35SPEAKER_03: Can you explain that?
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: What are you doing?
- 26:38SPEAKER_03: For me,
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: I'm assuming you would say you put somewhere the audiobook,
- 26:43SPEAKER_03: you put link to this and you send it in your newsletter,
- 26:46SPEAKER_03: I guess.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: But you mentioned the book funnel.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: If you can tell me if it's how you say you do that.
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let me tell you.
- 26:55SPEAKER_01: So then I go explain.
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: planning on the book.
- 26:58So this is here my subset called Happy Habits,
- 27:01named after the book here on my shelf.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: That's how it looks like.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: And I thought I can have something more to it.
- 27:08SPEAKER_01: And instead of buying the book out of here, I then created this one.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: That was over Christmas time.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: I started to write this landing page, which even has advertising.
- 27:18SPEAKER_01: I put Facebook, Instagram advertising to it recently.
- 27:22SPEAKER_01: And people can opt in for this one.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: So then here, it talks all about the book, why that's important.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: You see the way of copywriting with red and green to go lower or higher,
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: the accounts,
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: some testimonials,
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: a real-life picture from the book,
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: what you'll get.
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: What platform did you use for this?
- 27:44SPEAKER_01: This is in Kajabi, but I know people can do any type of landing page.
- 27:48SPEAKER_01: I could have built it in cart, could have built it in
- 27:53kid,
- 27:54what I heard,
- 27:56I can also create landing pages in an active campaign.
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: In an earlier life,
- 28:02SPEAKER_01: when I had my own email marketing agency,
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: I created 650 landing pages in GetResponse,
- 28:09SPEAKER_01: and I don't recommend that.
- 28:11SPEAKER_01: Not a good idea.
- 28:12But the purpose of a book funnel here is not to direct the
- 28:16people to Amazon,
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: where obviously I only get whatever,
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: 60% or so from the e-book.
- 28:21SPEAKER_01: but rather I give them some bonuses and then go to me directly.
- 28:24SPEAKER_01: Then you get a book,
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: a story where I wrote the book,
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: some extra voices,
- 28:29SPEAKER_01: which is technically extra from the launch,
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: and then I added a custom GPT to it,
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: which is not in the book.
- 28:36But if you get it from here,
- 28:38starting with seven US dollar,
- 28:40you get this one as well.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: And then about the book itself, all of these type of questions,
- 28:46SPEAKER_01: It took me a while to build that.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: And then if people want to have that,
- 28:50SPEAKER_01: and I take any email address that comes into my head,
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: whatever,
- 28:56SPEAKER_01: this one might already have it.
- 28:59SPEAKER_03: But this one is telling me PDF and EPUB.
- 29:02SPEAKER_03: Where is the audiobook in this?
- 29:04SPEAKER_01: Wait.
- 29:05SPEAKER_01: So now you have the checkout page, and then you click here, audiobook.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: Ah, you observe them, the audiobook.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: Ah, okay.
- 29:14SPEAKER_01: Yes, and about 60% of people are doing that.
- 29:17SPEAKER_01: It doesn't hurt.
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: You just click a button, oh, you get it.
- 29:20And those who don't and only get the e-book version with all of
- 29:26the goodies and
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: bonuses,
- 29:27SPEAKER_01: they see the audiobook as well.
- 29:29SPEAKER_01: They think, oh, audiobook, click on it, and then comes the paywall.
- 29:33SPEAKER_01: If you want it, click pay $10.
- 29:34SPEAKER_01: It converts.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: It's really cool.
- 29:37SPEAKER_01: And then you just click on it with the audiobook, and then they get it.
- 29:42SPEAKER_01: That's how I delivered the audiobook here.
- 29:44SPEAKER_01: That's in addition to all of Spotify's in the world.
- 29:47SPEAKER_01: But the beauty of this $10, it's my $10.
- 29:52SPEAKER_01: Maybe credit card,
- 29:53SPEAKER_01: or no,
- 29:54SPEAKER_01: the Skype fees I need to cater for,
- 29:55SPEAKER_01: which is peanuts,
- 29:56SPEAKER_01: but then it's my money.
- 29:58SPEAKER_01: But on Spotify, I get maybe 60%, if anybody serves me well.
- 30:02SPEAKER_01: On 11 labs, 70%, and here, nearly 100%.
- 30:10SPEAKER_03: Ah, I see.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 30:13SPEAKER_03: So Spotify takes a royalty.
- 30:15SPEAKER_03: Eleven Labs takes a royalty.
- 30:17SPEAKER_03: And you're willing to do that.
- 30:18But if you sell it on your own platform...
- 30:22Yeah,
- 30:22Audible,
- 30:22if they accepted that.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: But if you sell it here on your site, they won't take any royalties.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: And since you own the rights, you can put it anywhere you want.
- 30:34SPEAKER_03: You're the master of your ship.
- 30:37SPEAKER_03: You're the captain of your soul.
- 30:39SPEAKER_03: Nobody can control you.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 30:42Especially as I built the delivery of the audiobook in form of
- 30:47an online course,
- 30:48SPEAKER_01: technically speaking.
- 30:49SPEAKER_01: I mean, you can even use Gumroad for this one, for the delivery.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: Then that is also not a bad thing because I could go on here,
- 30:56SPEAKER_01: on my Substack,
- 30:58SPEAKER_01: and I could put it as,
- 30:59SPEAKER_01: let's say,
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: for the...
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: I haven't done yet,
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: but if you would like to
- 31:03SPEAKER_01: be a paid client for my subject,
- 31:06SPEAKER_01: let's say on the annual plan,
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: I could say the audiobook is included as part of that.
- 31:11And then everyone who subscribes to annually,
- 31:13they would automatically get.
- 31:14SPEAKER_01: I can even connect it with Zephi.
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: Don't need me to think about it.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: I could do it.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: It's a good reason.
- 31:20SPEAKER_03: Come to think of it,
- 31:21SPEAKER_03: like for me is with Substack and all these,
- 31:25that's why I love independent publishing is there are so many
- 31:30options to sell and
- 31:31SPEAKER_03: upsell and give away things and convert people to paid subscribers.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: And like this, it's like you see life as a game, right?
- 31:41And you're upscaling and you're going to the next level and
- 31:46nobody can stop you.
- 31:47SPEAKER_03: Because you own all of that and it makes what you do so exciting.
- 31:52SPEAKER_03: You're like always in the flow.
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 31:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 31:56SPEAKER_03: So I have a practical question.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: I mean, you're a busy man.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: You have your full-time job.
- 32:01SPEAKER_03: You have, you know, your busy social life.
- 32:06SPEAKER_03: Who is, is there anyone helping you build all of that stuff?
- 32:10SPEAKER_03: Because like building this page in Kajabi takes a long time.
- 32:14SPEAKER_03: Do you have a VA or do you like,
- 32:17SPEAKER_03: where do you have the energy and the time to come up with all of this?
- 32:21SPEAKER_03: Do you have anyone helping you doing all of that?
- 32:27SPEAKER_01: No.
- 32:28SPEAKER_01: There's a funny remark to this one.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: You might know Amy Porterfield.
- 32:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I do.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: Who used to run the marketing for Tony Robbins maybe 50 years ago.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: And I've been part of her first digital course academy.
- 32:42SPEAKER_01: On the last call to sell it, she asked, does anyone have a question?
- 32:47SPEAKER_01: So I raised my hand.
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: And she said, oh, there's a question from Gunnar from Australia.
- 32:51SPEAKER_01: So I realized, oh, that was real.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: It's a live course.
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: Okay, cool.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: And I said,
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: Amy,
- 32:56SPEAKER_01: you promote Kajabi for your course academy,
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: but I started a school in Teachable and I would use ConvertKit.
- 33:03SPEAKER_01: Does it also work?
- 33:05SPEAKER_01: And then she said the worst thing to me.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: She said, Guna, you can use even ConvertKit at Teachable.
- 33:10SPEAKER_01: We have tutorials, but you can also test Kajabi.
- 33:13And as a programmer,
- 33:15initially,
- 33:16that's the worst thing somebody can tell me.
- 33:18SPEAKER_01: I would immediately go and start with the tech aspects of that.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: So I love creating these things.
- 33:25SPEAKER_01: That's my vision.
- 33:26SPEAKER_01: I love playing around that and learning from others.
- 33:29I take so many screenshots from advertised books on Facebook
- 33:35and Instagram to
- 33:35figure out what can I learn from the flow of the text and then
- 33:39to build it.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: So I must admit also one thing.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: From the book fund itself, I got...
- 33:46SPEAKER_01: I got an example that I took it from.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: Let me show you.
- 33:51SPEAKER_01: I think it's million-dollar books.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: I showed it from a guy called Ryan Wigner.
- 33:58SPEAKER_01: It's this one.
- 33:59SPEAKER_01: He says, show you how to write a short book.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: Blah, blah, blah.
- 34:03SPEAKER_01: He talks, whatever he does.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: But that's a hardcore sales.
- 34:06SPEAKER_01: You see it immediately in golden.
- 34:10SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Don't talk.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Don't talk.
- 34:13SPEAKER_01: But I bought this.
- 34:15SPEAKER_01: And there was a template for this type of landing pad.
- 34:18SPEAKER_01: But you see, it's a hardcore sales thing.
- 34:21SPEAKER_01: My book is about habits.
- 34:22SPEAKER_01: It's about more calmness,
- 34:24about thinking how you can improve yourself instead of a
- 34:27hardcore sales like he
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: has.
- 34:29SPEAKER_01: But still, the flow of the things, I learned a lot from that.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: And there was a template in it, so I got the template.
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: That's how I started.
- 34:38SPEAKER_01: But this goes on and on and on and on and on.
- 34:42SPEAKER_01: And I would normally go at the bottom.
- 34:43SPEAKER_01: Hey, where's the button to click and so on.
- 34:45And that's how I learned a little bit of psychology of the flow
- 34:48of landing pages.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: And that's how I got into this one.
- 34:52SPEAKER_01: It can be built in any of these type of tools.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: So even when I look into the page of my book itself,
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: when the book was out in July,
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: I thought I needed a quick
- 35:06SPEAKER_01: landing page only for the book.
- 35:08SPEAKER_01: So I've done this here.
- 35:09SPEAKER_01: And instead of buying on Amazon,
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: there used to be a form to grab early readers that I can send them.
- 35:15And this took me one hour that even built an active campaign in
- 35:17my email marketing
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: tool and nothing out of a template.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: So these things for me are cool.
- 35:26SPEAKER_01: I like playing around that and I help some others to do the same thing.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: So this part, I personally really enjoy, I must admit.
- 35:35I mean,
- 35:35now you're making me think,
- 35:37why do I need the landing page for a book?
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: I'm not like the best marketer out there,
- 35:41but I just put the book on my website and then description and
- 35:46I put a link to
- 35:47SPEAKER_03: Amazon.
- 35:48SPEAKER_03: Why do you have a whole landing page?
- 35:50SPEAKER_03: Why can't you just put it?
- 35:51SPEAKER_03: What is the whole point of the landing page for a book?
- 35:56SPEAKER_01: So first of all, what I do, typically I create a domain for a book.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: that I would like to do something with it.
- 36:02SPEAKER_01: Because I can use the domain,
- 36:04SPEAKER_01: so happyhabits.com,
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: then slash whatever comes to your mind,
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: slash book,
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: what's the book finder,
- 36:09SPEAKER_01: or slash audio,
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: would be the audio book,
- 36:12SPEAKER_01: and all of these type of things that I like to play around that,
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: and I can direct traffic.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: So that's what I wanted to create with that one.
- 36:22SPEAKER_01: And then why a landing page for the book?
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: Because it should go somewhere.
- 36:25But I have,
- 36:26for example,
- 36:27let's say,
- 36:27that typed happyhabit.com slash Amazon,
- 36:33for example.
- 36:34SPEAKER_01: It goes straight into here.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: For me, it goes into amazon.com.au.
- 36:39If you would check the link,
- 36:41happyhabit.com slash Amazon,
- 36:42it would go to the US Amazon.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: Because I use Booklinker in between.
- 36:48SPEAKER_03: You said you use what in between?
- 36:53SPEAKER_01: I use Booklinker.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: Booklinker is a platform from what's the name of the person?
- 36:59SPEAKER_00: What's Booklinker?
- 37:00SPEAKER_00: I don't know.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: Booklinker is this one.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: One book link every store.
- 37:05SPEAKER_01: You would type in any link that you have from a book.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: Let me find you one.
- 37:15SPEAKER_01: If I'm lucky, I find a good book.
- 37:19Just as an example,
- 37:20let me grab a link of a good book I have that I can show you.
- 37:25SPEAKER_01: You might know the author properly, maybe not.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: Of course you know.
- 37:30SPEAKER_01: Let me take this one.
- 37:32SPEAKER_01: I type in a link, like this link, and I build a universal link.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: That is maybe something I think is receivable.
- 37:42SPEAKER_03: I know, that looks familiar.
- 37:45SPEAKER_01: Then I say, okay, I take Karma Unleashed, create a link.
- 37:49SPEAKER_01: If I click on this, and it might actually work, let me do it.
- 37:55SPEAKER_01: I know, I'm not logged in.
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: But imagine I would have been logged in on purpose.
- 37:59SPEAKER_01: I haven't.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: Then I own this link, mybook.to and slash something.
- 38:04SPEAKER_01: And if now someone in the UK gets on the link, they go to Amazon UK.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: If somebody in Ireland does it, there's now an Amazon in Ireland.
- 38:13SPEAKER_01: There's one in Belgium now.
- 38:15SPEAKER_01: Of course, there's one in Japan.
- 38:16It tries to go by the location into what is the nearest Amazon
- 38:20marketplace.
- 38:22SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, it's complicated.
- 38:23I moved from Germany to Switzerland and then from Switzerland
- 38:26to New Zealand and to Australia.
- 38:29It's physically possible to move the household,
- 38:32but I cannot move my Kindle library.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: It doesn't work.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: The Kindle library I have on Amazon Germany.
- 38:39SPEAKER_01: If I would try to move the books,
- 38:41SPEAKER_01: I would lose all those that are not in the Australian Amazon,
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: but in the German.
- 38:47SPEAKER_01: So therefore, that's another story.
- 38:51SPEAKER_01: But at least this is possible.
- 38:52So therefore,
- 38:53I have my happyhabits.com that I can have a lot of redirects
- 38:58towards slash Amazon.
- 38:59SPEAKER_01: And then it opens up as the book linker type of thing.
- 39:03SPEAKER_01: And slash audio, whatever.
- 39:04SPEAKER_01: There's so many options we can do with that.
- 39:07And when you have this link to a landing page,
- 39:09you can do anything behind whatever you want.
- 39:14And to your question,
- 39:15why I would not have my own website and take it from there?
- 39:20SPEAKER_01: That would be enough, right?
- 39:22SPEAKER_03: I barely remember.
- 39:25SPEAKER_03: I forgot to put the second book on my website.
- 39:27SPEAKER_03: I just don't have time.
- 39:28SPEAKER_03: And you put it on your website.
- 39:30SPEAKER_03: You put it on landing page.
- 39:31SPEAKER_03: You put it everywhere.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: I also have a normal website, so that's my normal website.
- 39:37SPEAKER_01: Look, some people who you know, like Veronica.
- 39:41And there I have my books,
- 39:43and these books go into at least a full set published.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: Happy Habits Not Managed, and there are two LinkedIn books.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: From there, it goes somewhere, and it goes to happyhabits.com.
- 39:57SPEAKER_03: Can you click on buy the book?
- 39:58SPEAKER_03: Where will it take you?
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: This goes to the landing page where it's Amazon.
- 40:06SPEAKER_01: It doesn't have to.
- 40:07SPEAKER_01: I could build it directly.
- 40:09If I go back to here,
- 40:10what I've done with this one,
- 40:14this one I created only a checkout page.
- 40:16SPEAKER_01: I call it bottomless book bundle.
- 40:18SPEAKER_01: So I add more to it.
- 40:19SPEAKER_01: That was a growing book.
- 40:21SPEAKER_01: And people get a PDF and the EPUB.
- 40:24SPEAKER_01: Oh, not added soon.
- 40:25SPEAKER_01: It already exists.
- 40:26SPEAKER_01: But like you, you always need to get that.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: And then sometimes people see this and just buy and get me $10.
- 40:33SPEAKER_03: Okay, speaking of buying, how are you doing with the sales?
- 40:36SPEAKER_03: First, how are you marketing?
- 40:38SPEAKER_03: Like you're putting a lot of work, you know, you're putting me to shame.
- 40:43SPEAKER_03: I should stop watching Netflix and do this instead.
- 40:46SPEAKER_03: But, okay, so how is the sales going?
- 40:51SPEAKER_03: How are you selling your book, marketing tools?
- 40:55SPEAKER_03: And two, what is selling mostly?
- 40:57SPEAKER_03: Is it the e-book, the audio book, or the print book?
- 41:02SPEAKER_01: That's a very valid question.
- 41:04SPEAKER_01: I'll show you,
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: maybe just on the LinkedIn book,
- 41:07SPEAKER_01: because I can claim that this book here,
- 41:10SPEAKER_01: Connect and Act,
- 41:11SPEAKER_01: my first set from this business book,
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: click on this landing app too.
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I have a dedicated landing page for this book.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: Let me just show you by the flow,
- 41:23SPEAKER_01: addressing what I really want to do,
- 41:24SPEAKER_01: what you get in four weeks.
- 41:26SPEAKER_01: That is not the younger brother of Gary V. What's in it?
- 41:30The whole story of the book is sold for home,
- 41:33and then me,
- 41:33and then testimonials.
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: The book launch, and that was also my birthday.
- 41:37SPEAKER_01: I love this.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: I'll do another one in May.
- 41:41SPEAKER_01: And then you can get the e-book, the paperback, and hardcover.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: So what sells most?
- 41:45So having this as a landing page,
- 41:47which sits on my LinkedIn and whatever,
- 41:49is good to have.
- 41:50SPEAKER_01: But of course,
- 41:51SPEAKER_01: what works best is to sell a book not only on Amazon,
- 41:54SPEAKER_01: but also with my own email that I can send to people.
- 41:59SPEAKER_01: I run webinars around LinkedIn where it's always a book at the end,
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: visible,
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: and there's ways to get into this one.
- 42:07SPEAKER_01: So that for me is an important thing.
- 42:09SPEAKER_01: Place a book wherever you can.
- 42:11SPEAKER_01: It makes sense.
- 42:12SPEAKER_01: Like on here, I have
- 42:15SPEAKER_01: that I've done with Veronica in January.
- 42:17SPEAKER_01: And from there, I also send them people.
- 42:20SPEAKER_01: I need to market myself, otherwise nobody does it for me.
- 42:24SPEAKER_01: So always need to place a book without being hard-cost selling.
- 42:27SPEAKER_01: I can claim,
- 42:28SPEAKER_01: though,
- 42:29that this LinkedIn book that I've had there got me 30 times
- 42:37more consulting dollars
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: over royalties.
- 42:39SPEAKER_01: And the royalties were four digits.
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: So I sold maybe not $9,000, but maybe $2,000 worth of books from this.
- 42:46SPEAKER_01: And revenue-wise,
- 42:48SPEAKER_01: not profit-wise,
- 42:49so then I would say maybe 60% e-books and 40% are paperback by
- 42:56the dollars.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that would be right.
- 43:00SPEAKER_01: I have this also, in addition to Amazon, I have it also on IngramSpark.
- 43:07SPEAKER_01: Technically, a bookstore can also have that if they wanted to.
- 43:10SPEAKER_01: And I had people in Germany who ordered it through a bookshop.
- 43:13SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so that also is a possibility.
- 43:15Today,
- 43:16I would rather prefer Draft2Digital over IngramSpark,
- 43:19but that's another story.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: So there's various ways how to make that happen.
- 43:23SPEAKER_01: I often meet people for coffee, and they can also get a book.
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: Speaking of coffee, another one, and I can already confuse you a bit with
- 43:34with my love for tech tools,
- 43:36do you know a platform called Buy Me A Coffee?
- 43:39SPEAKER_01: Buy Me A Coffee, yeah.
- 43:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:42SPEAKER_01: So that's my Buy Me A Coffee.
- 43:44Normally it would be yellow,
- 43:45but you can create it with the whole branding as whatever you
- 43:48like.
- 43:48So I have here not only the $5 coffee,
- 43:52but I'm selling here also the same $7 e-book.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: But this here delivers technically only a PDF file or EPUB file.
- 44:03SPEAKER_01: It cannot deliver audio version.
- 44:05SPEAKER_01: So buy me a coffee is not good for this.
- 44:07SPEAKER_01: But even people can buy a power hour of anything I can do for them.
- 44:12SPEAKER_03: So they can buy you a coffee for whatever.
- 44:15SPEAKER_03: And then what do they get when they buy you a coffee?
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: They get a book?
- 44:19SPEAKER_01: No, no.
- 44:20The coffee type of thing in general is if you have someone,
- 44:23let's say they're from...
- 44:25developing countries where they don't have that many chance of
- 44:28making good money,
- 44:29SPEAKER_01: but you want to give them something,
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: you can say,
- 44:32SPEAKER_01: give them a coffee.
- 44:33SPEAKER_01: A coffee is typically $5.
- 44:34SPEAKER_01: Maybe I can buy coffee with $25.
- 44:37That's some people who you might know from Fiverr can have
- 44:40another way to make some money.
- 44:41SPEAKER_01: That's how that got created.
- 44:43SPEAKER_01: And in contrary to most other platforms,
- 44:46SPEAKER_01: while it's connected to Stripe,
- 44:47SPEAKER_01: but the fees are pretty low,
- 44:49SPEAKER_01: that's actually good.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: So Gumroad takes more.
- 44:54SPEAKER_01: Many other platforms take more.
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: This doesn't do.
- 44:56It doesn't help me on audiobooks,
- 44:58but at least I can sometimes give this thing.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Buy me a coffee.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: Somebody wants to,
- 45:04SPEAKER_01: you know,
- 45:05the typical thing like pick your brain on something like how to
- 45:09do book stuff.
- 45:10SPEAKER_01: So I'm not a memoir growth writer like you are,
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: an expert on that one,
- 45:15SPEAKER_01: but I can share my expertise,
- 45:17SPEAKER_01: but I do not want to jump
- 45:20SPEAKER_01: on a one-and-a-half-hour call just for $5.
- 45:23SPEAKER_01: So then I created something like this.
- 45:26SPEAKER_01: And it worked.
- 45:27And it looks,
- 45:28in terms of branding,
- 45:29it looks very consistent with all the other stuff.
- 45:33SPEAKER_01: And that's the story that I like.
- 45:35SPEAKER_01: You can create something that really looks as similar as you have.
- 45:40SPEAKER_01: And you see my Buy Me A Coffee.
- 45:42SPEAKER_01: And then you can see my Facebook.
- 45:46SPEAKER_01: Looks pretty similar.
- 45:48yeah uh okay so back to audiobooks back to audiobooks yeah and
- 45:57how are you in terms
- 45:59of marketing your audiobooks or books in general what worked
- 46:05the best is itSubstack
- 46:07SPEAKER_03: is it meeting people is it but what is working best in terms of
- 46:13SPEAKER_03: Like you're putting a lot of effort.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: And what is the one that has the highest ROI?
- 46:21SPEAKER_01: Let me say in terms of effort,
- 46:23I'm someone who likes to play with the tech tools and figure
- 46:26out what makes more
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: sense,
- 46:27SPEAKER_01: what is comfortable of doing,
- 46:29SPEAKER_01: what I can tell others,
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: what they can do as well.
- 46:31SPEAKER_01: So therefore, I test maybe a little bit more than I would need to.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: So this is this sort of thing.
- 46:36SPEAKER_01: From an ROI point of view,
- 46:37SPEAKER_01: if you put it on 11 Media,
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: which is the 11 Apps marketplace,
- 46:41SPEAKER_01: not many people know it.
- 46:43SPEAKER_01: yet.
- 46:43It needs you to always put traffic to it and then it can be
- 46:48executed over there.
- 46:49SPEAKER_01: Not to forget platforms like Level Reader or Spotify,
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: they pay the commission only after certain thresholds.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: So when I say I sell on 11 reader my book for $10,
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: and I get maybe $7 maybe from it,
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: but they don't pay me anything below reaching $10.
- 47:15SPEAKER_01: So I need to have a second book sold until I get some money.
- 47:19SPEAKER_01: So we need to have these things in mind.
- 47:20SPEAKER_01: It's not Amazon that sends me small amounts.
- 47:24So twice in my life,
- 47:26I got from Amazon royalties,
- 47:27from the US market,
- 47:29of one cent.
- 47:30SPEAKER_01: Not one dollar, one cent.
- 47:33SPEAKER_01: So somebody must have read a page or two pages.
- 47:37SPEAKER_03: It's crazy.
- 47:41SPEAKER_01: One cent.
- 47:41SPEAKER_01: And they sent me this money.
- 47:43And even the normal email says,
- 47:45be careful with this money,
- 47:46spend it wisely.
- 47:51SPEAKER_01: Then you realize it's automation.
- 47:52SPEAKER_01: But same thing on Spotify.
- 47:54SPEAKER_01: So if I have it on Spotify and somebody bought it recently,
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: I only sold one on Spotify from this fair return that just got on there.
- 48:01And then I need to wait until somebody else buys it so that
- 48:04finally I get the money from that.
- 48:06SPEAKER_01: But I sold many,
- 48:07many more on my book funnel because there is an easy thing to
- 48:11just upsell another
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: $10.
- 48:13SPEAKER_01: If you combine it with something that is a better approach,
- 48:16In particular,
- 48:17from a book funnel point of view,
- 48:19I have the email address of the people.
- 48:21SPEAKER_01: I can ask them, hey, was the audiobook any good?
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: In Amazon, you don't know.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: In Spotify, you don't know.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: So particularly when getting started, it's a wise idea.
- 48:31You can have it on your Substack as a kind of,
- 48:35let's say,
- 48:36Easter promotion.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: If you sign up as an annual member, you get also an audiobook to it.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: And then you take a key sale, maybe more than you would normally do.
- 48:45and then you can get back to them and ask for feedback and then
- 48:50figure out.
- 48:51Currently,
- 48:52I sell more on BookFunnels because not everyone is looking for
- 48:54it.
- 48:55SPEAKER_01: I don't have the marketplace function of Audible slash Amazon.
- 49:00SPEAKER_01: But I want to take my happy habits,
- 49:02SPEAKER_01: get a mixer to it or learn it by myself,
- 49:05SPEAKER_01: and then have it out there.
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: There are people,
- 49:06SPEAKER_01: you can find them on Upwork,
- 49:09SPEAKER_01: Fiverr,
- 49:10SPEAKER_01: who can take it from Riverside and put it into Audible.
- 49:14SPEAKER_01: It costs a little bit, but it's truly worth it.
- 49:18SPEAKER_03: Okay,
- 49:18SPEAKER_03: so we're kind of running out of time,
- 49:21SPEAKER_03: but I would like you,
- 49:22SPEAKER_03: if that's okay,
- 49:23if you can give us the kind of roadmap quickly before we take a
- 49:29few questions or
- 49:30SPEAKER_03: comments.
- 49:32Like,
- 49:32what is the five-step guide to publishing your audiobook as a
- 49:39self-published author?
- 49:41SPEAKER_03: In one minute.
- 49:43SPEAKER_03: In one minute, no.
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: In one minute.
- 49:46SPEAKER_01: First, have the courage to record a book by yourself.
- 49:50SPEAKER_01: The authors want to hear you.
- 49:51SPEAKER_01: You are the author.
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: Nobody else.
- 49:53It should be not written by any better actor who might be great
- 49:56in speaking,
- 49:56but it's not you.
- 49:58SPEAKER_01: I want to hear from that person.
- 49:59SPEAKER_01: I want to hear you in your books, Latasha.
- 50:02SPEAKER_01: So that's the mindset issue at the beginning.
- 50:05SPEAKER_01: Find a good silent place where you can record it.
- 50:09SPEAKER_01: There are libraries who even have podcast-related rooms,
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: at least here in cities,
- 50:13SPEAKER_01: and surely in other cities as well.
- 50:15SPEAKER_01: That's cool.
- 50:16SPEAKER_01: And then you can create that.
- 50:17SPEAKER_01: Use a software like Riverside,
- 50:19SPEAKER_01: which has step number three,
- 50:22SPEAKER_01: who have often a kind of a trial version to begin with.
- 50:26SPEAKER_01: And even if the first month costs you $20, it's worth it.
- 50:30SPEAKER_01: But then you have a good enough version that you can have as your voice.
- 50:35SPEAKER_01: Grab that.
- 50:36SPEAKER_01: download it in mp3 and wave whatever type of file.
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: And then,
- 50:40SPEAKER_01: out of this one,
- 50:41you can even put it already to Spotify as one very well-known
- 50:45marketplace,
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: because that's the thing.
- 50:46SPEAKER_01: When you put anything people don't know, it makes less sense.
- 50:50SPEAKER_01: But when you say, I'm on Spotify, oh, cool.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: That means something.
- 50:55When you say,
- 50:56I'm on Facebook,
- 50:57my grandmother is there as well,
- 50:58but on Spotify,
- 50:59nice.
- 51:01SPEAKER_01: And then when you create your voice clone with 11 labs,
- 51:04SPEAKER_01: which you can do for free,
- 51:07SPEAKER_01: also in the test version,
- 51:08SPEAKER_01: but then in the proper one,
- 51:09SPEAKER_01: that you have enough of credit for one month.
- 51:12SPEAKER_01: I think I paid this $5 or maybe $10, all good.
- 51:15SPEAKER_01: And then I had my second book, Youth with the AI Clone.
- 51:20SPEAKER_01: The professional AI clone was really, really good.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: Quickly, you listened earlier in this call.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: And I gave it to Frank.
- 51:27SPEAKER_01: I said, oh, when did you record that?
- 51:29SPEAKER_01: That sounds actually good.
- 51:31SPEAKER_01: Because it can grab my accent.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: It doesn't sound as I want it to be sound, but it sounds very like me.
- 51:39SPEAKER_01: That's a good thing about it.
- 51:40And then it took me 30 minutes to upload a fiction book,
- 51:43which itself takes two hours to listen.
- 51:45SPEAKER_00: Okay, wow.
- 51:47And then from there,
- 51:48from 11 Labs,
- 51:49I placed it again into 11 Reader,
- 51:51which is their own.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: I now place it to Spotify.
- 51:54SPEAKER_01: And there are also other sources that you can put it to out of 11 Labs.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: It sits somewhere.
- 52:00It can put in audio,
- 52:02and from there it goes to Barnes & Noble,
- 52:04Rakuten,
- 52:05and some other.
- 52:06wow okay i have a mindset question i think i want to ask a
- 52:10question which is uh
- 52:13having an accent like me or you and we record using our accents
- 52:19and i know some
- 52:19readers don't like that they're kind of they're like oh this is
- 52:23like an accented
- 52:24book did you and i know this is a this is me and my mindset
- 52:28that i need to work on
- 52:30SPEAKER_03: Was that an issue for you when you recorded it in English?
- 52:33SPEAKER_03: Because your modern tongue is German.
- 52:37SPEAKER_03: So when you speak English, you have like a German accent.
- 52:41SPEAKER_03: Was that an issue for you or no?
- 52:46SPEAKER_01: I hope it's not only a strong German accent,
- 52:48SPEAKER_01: but maybe more German and Swiss because I've spent most of my career in
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: Switzerland.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: So there can be a little bit of French in a different way sometimes.
- 52:57But yeah,
- 52:57no,
- 52:58it's fine for me because I know how I sound when I'm speaking
- 53:01on stage.
- 53:02SPEAKER_01: I've been a tour guide in the past,
- 53:03so I know when I speak with a microphone in the hand how that
- 53:06sounds like.
- 53:07But that is a mindset border we need to jump over to say there
- 53:12are people who want
- 53:14SPEAKER_01: to read the book from us,
- 53:16SPEAKER_01: not from anyone else,
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: and there are people who want to also hear the story from the author.
- 53:22And that is better authentic compared to perfectly read by a
- 53:26machine or by a
- 53:27SPEAKER_01: professional actor.
- 53:29I get confused when I took this book here from Tony and was
- 53:33read by this one.
- 53:35His next book was written with a co-author and I realized,
- 53:38oh,
- 53:38Tony,
- 53:38it doesn't sound like him.
- 53:39And that's how I discovered his co-author and now bought four
- 53:42books from that
- 53:43SPEAKER_01: co-author who reads by himself.
- 53:46okay great yeah all right i'm gonna go through quickly through
- 53:49the comments uh we
- 53:50have coach sean michael saying talking about uh landing pages
- 53:55for a book he's
- 53:56saying a landing page for your book is not some sales trick
- 53:59it's a declaration that
- 54:00SPEAKER_03: says my work matters enough to have its own home i like that question
- 54:05SPEAKER_03: And then he says also, great tip.
- 54:08SPEAKER_03: I use Booklinker too.
- 54:09SPEAKER_03: It removes friction for buyers.
- 54:12SPEAKER_03: Also Coach Sean says, your true readers want to hear your words.
- 54:17SPEAKER_03: Those who are hung up on your accent are not your real audience.
- 54:20SPEAKER_03: I love that.
- 54:22SPEAKER_03: And then there is Unfairy saying hi, Naomi saying wow, so that's good.
- 54:28SPEAKER_03: All right,
- 54:28SPEAKER_03: before we go,
- 54:29SPEAKER_03: I have to jump to another meeting,
- 54:31SPEAKER_03: but quickly,
- 54:32SPEAKER_03: how can people reach you,
- 54:33SPEAKER_03: Gunnar?
- 54:34SPEAKER_03: How can they buy your books,
- 54:37SPEAKER_03: take your courses,
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: learn from all the vast amount of knowledge that you have?
- 54:44SPEAKER_03: So this is your turn to do your plug here.
- 54:48SPEAKER_01: Oh, funny.
- 54:49SPEAKER_01: So I have my subject publication.
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: It's called Busy Book Builder.
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: But the URL is still from the old name.
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: I call it writingincafes.subject.com.
- 54:58SPEAKER_01: And I have this URL in my book.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: So therefore, I never change the URL.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: Writingincafes.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: That's what I do.
- 55:05SPEAKER_01: Like also Demi, who's on the call, loves to write in cafe.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: So that's what I do.
- 55:10SPEAKER_01: Otherwise, my website from there, something is going on.
- 55:13SPEAKER_01: It's by my name, kundahabit.com.au.
- 55:15And my favorite platform where I'm hanging out every day is
- 55:20LinkedIn.com.
- 55:23SPEAKER_01: I'm typing on LinkedIn.
- 55:25SPEAKER_00: Ah, great.
- 55:25SPEAKER_01: That's it.
- 55:26SPEAKER_01: These are the links.
- 55:28SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and out of the website, everything is pointing from there.
- 55:30SPEAKER_01: So that's a good thing.
- 55:31But I love actually creating different type of landing pages
- 55:34for different books.
- 55:35SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 55:36SPEAKER_03: This was amazing.
- 55:37SPEAKER_03: This is good.
- 55:39SPEAKER_03: This was a masterclass in creating audiobooks.
- 55:43I'm going to turn this into a post as well and send it because
- 55:47this has amazing
- 55:49SPEAKER_03: information and it's all for free.
- 55:51SPEAKER_03: I'm so grateful for you for giving me the time and the knowledge.
- 55:57I hope everyone who's listening or watching,
- 56:01please go check out Gunnar's Substack.
- 56:05SPEAKER_03: Buy his books, learn from him.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: I personally learned a lot from him.
- 56:08SPEAKER_03: He was actually the one who encouraged me to get on Substack.
- 56:11SPEAKER_03: Thanks to Gunnar.
- 56:13SPEAKER_03: So thank you so much for your time.
- 56:15SPEAKER_03: And for anyone listening or watching,
- 56:17thank you for joining us for another episode of the Substack
- 56:21Writer's Salon.
- 56:22SPEAKER_03: And until we meet again, thank you very much.
