- 1:26Speaker 1: This Friday, directed by Matt Did I get that right?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Or no? I didn't get that right? Right? Yeah? Directed
- 1:33Speaker 1: by Matt, you're.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Not getting right our first thirty seconds because gee, Louise,
- 1:36Speaker 2: the language.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Oh language, that'll all be bleeped. You know what I mean?
- 1:41Speaker 1: Bit shot I saw Matt Schachman is the director.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Yees bit shout us to our editor extraordinary, mister Luna,
- 1:46Speaker 3: thank you for saving us.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 1:49Speaker 3: But Matt Schatman directs Fantastic Four First Steps in theaters
- 1:55Speaker 3: this Friday, yes.
- 1:56Speaker 4: Right, Friday, July twenty fifth.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:59Speaker 3: I've lost back of time. You know, that's another story
- 2:02Speaker 3: that we'll get back to in another day. Today we
- 2:04Speaker 3: are here the review this movie. No spoilers, of course,
- 2:09Speaker 3: not a word. I mean really, honestly, there's not much
- 2:13Speaker 3: too spoil I will say.
- 2:15Speaker 1: That that Disney didn't spoil a round.
- 2:17Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess off area. You can tell me what
- 2:21Speaker 3: was that in the last trailer that you said beforehand,
- 2:24Speaker 3: because I didn't tell you after. Okay, cool, because I
- 2:27Speaker 3: definitely didn't see that last trailer, so I didn't know
- 2:29Speaker 3: whatever was spoiled. But you know, you know most of
- 2:32Speaker 3: this film. This is the introduction of the Fantastic Four
- 2:35Speaker 3: that we all know and love. Read Richard's Susan Storm
- 2:39Speaker 3: Johnny Storm Ben Grimm, and they are fighting Galactus, who
- 2:44Speaker 3: is invading their Earth because they are not on the
- 2:47Speaker 3: same Earth six one sixth that we know and love.
- 2:50Speaker 3: This is an alternate Earth that you know in the multiverse,
- 2:54Speaker 3: of course, and it takes place in the nineteen sixties
- 2:57Speaker 3: version of their Earth, where the fans Test four have
- 3:00Speaker 3: been operating for a few years at this point, and
- 3:02Speaker 3: their technology and read Richard's, especially.
- 3:06Speaker 1: His genius, has.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Pervaded through all levels of society of this Earth. So
- 3:12Speaker 3: they're flying cars, things of that nature. You know, it's
- 3:17Speaker 3: a little more science fiction, but still nineteen sixties vibe
- 3:20Speaker 3: and off top. I want to give a real shout
- 3:23Speaker 3: out to Matt and the whole production design of everything,
- 3:27Speaker 3: because it really felt like you were in that vibe.
- 3:30Speaker 3: I remember beforehand, I was comparing it to like Dick
- 3:33Speaker 3: Tracy and how Superman Metropolis kind of has that same
- 3:36Speaker 3: vibe and it's.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Trying to it goes beyond.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Yeah, Superman's Metropolis I'm talking about the most recent Superman
- 3:43Speaker 3: is a little bit more of a nineteen thirties, nineteen
- 3:46Speaker 3: forties Art Deco style, while this is definitely more like
- 3:50Speaker 3: nineteen sixties New York, you know, like New York and
- 3:54Speaker 3: then yeah, with the Fantastic Four thrown into it.
- 3:58Speaker 4: It's retro futuristic.
- 4:01Speaker 2: From like you said, from that standpoint of Fantastic four
- 4:05Speaker 2: in their version of Earth, and it is it's transformative
- 4:10Speaker 2: and that it really takes you to another place, like
- 4:13Speaker 2: you do not feel like you're on the Earth six
- 4:15Speaker 2: one six, whatever the Earth is, because that's the that's
- 4:18Speaker 2: been up for.
- 4:19Speaker 4: Debate again about whether or not we've been in sixty
- 4:21Speaker 4: one six.
- 4:22Speaker 2: But that notwithstanding, you do feel like you're you are
- 4:25Speaker 2: on a different timeline of Earth.
- 4:27Speaker 4: You do feel like you're in a different place.
- 4:28Speaker 2: And that's like one of the many refreshing things about
- 4:32Speaker 2: Fantastic four.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Five.
- 4:34Speaker 4: Was it Fantastic four first Steps?
- 4:36Speaker 3: Yeah, that's the distinct We're back. It ain't no more
- 4:39Speaker 3: Cloud were back.
- 4:40Speaker 1: We out here, No more evil Cloud. No we're evil Cloud.
- 4:44Speaker 1: We out here. We are a force. We are you.
- 4:49Speaker 4: Know that's a distinguished right, oh, all the other ones?
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, basically what you want to call it first steps?
- 4:56Speaker 2: Okay, and you mentioned it just how you have this
- 5:01Speaker 2: whole story of who the Fantastic Four is. And yes,
- 5:03Speaker 2: it's been done millions, it's been done like five times
- 5:06Speaker 2: over in the last twenty years. But there is, as
- 5:09Speaker 2: we know, there is a new generation of people who
- 5:12Speaker 2: do not know who they are and do not have
- 5:14Speaker 2: the backstory, and this still gives you the story of
- 5:17Speaker 2: how they came to be. It fast forwards through a
- 5:20Speaker 2: lot of that and then gives you right into the
- 5:21Speaker 2: heart and depth of it.
- 5:23Speaker 3: M I want to say that that was one of
- 5:25Speaker 3: my things. I've been talking about this a lot on
- 5:27Speaker 3: our reviews. Is the Usually for me, it's the first
- 5:30Speaker 3: fifteen minutes of a movie. If it doesn't catch me,
- 5:32Speaker 3: if I'm like, damn, I want to fast forward this
- 5:34Speaker 3: first fifteen minutes, and that time I see this movie,
- 5:37Speaker 3: I probably don't want to see the rest of the movie.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Because it's just oh yeah, yeah, I just know that,
- 5:42Speaker 1: you know.
- 5:42Speaker 3: It's when those first fifteen minutes aren't like, okay, I
- 5:45Speaker 3: would watch this again, then usually the rest of the
- 5:47Speaker 3: movie doesn't work for me either. And that's pretty tried
- 5:50Speaker 3: and true for especially the last few reviews.
- 5:51Speaker 1: That's been my gauge.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Now I don't like the first fifteen minutes, I'm probably
- 5:55Speaker 3: not gonna like the.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Rest of the movie.
- 5:57Speaker 3: There'll be scenes and things of that nature that I'll
- 5:59Speaker 3: watch again a whole movie.
- 6:00Speaker 1: I'm just like, Nah, that's not gonna work right.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Away with that approach, because you have to commit, Like
- 6:06Speaker 2: a movie is not like a show where you could
- 6:07Speaker 2: just turn off.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Yet you could just walk out the theater shore.
- 6:09Speaker 2: But it's just like I committed two hours or whatever,
- 6:12Speaker 2: how well the film is, and just to be like, damn,
- 6:14Speaker 2: I got to sit here for the rest of this absolutely, or.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Even if it's like there are scenes in it like
- 6:19Speaker 3: the most recent mission impossible.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I remember fifteen minutes on that. I was like, He's like,
- 6:24Speaker 1: this ain't it. This ain't it? And then there are
- 6:26Speaker 1: scenes that I can't wait to see you. But as
- 6:28Speaker 1: far as watching that whole movie ever again, ain't nowhere right.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I turned to you about ten minutes into this and
- 6:33Speaker 1: I was like, Yo, they got me.
- 6:34Speaker 4: They got it, ladies and gentlemen, we got them right. Yeah.
- 6:39Speaker 2: One point I wanted to add, just when you were
- 6:41Speaker 2: explaining the just the from the basic terms of just
- 6:45Speaker 2: how this world is built and how it is presented
- 6:47Speaker 2: to us and this is the real to me, this
- 6:50Speaker 2: is a very important point. Not only is this an
- 6:52Speaker 2: alternate earth in the nineteen sixties retro future setting.
- 6:56Speaker 4: It's also in the.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Most idealized setting. So as far as I can tell,
- 7:00Speaker 2: there's no racism. Yo, as far as I can tell,
- 7:04Speaker 2: there's no colorism. As far as you ca'n told, there's
- 7:06Speaker 2: noisms whatsoever. And everyone is ultra cooperative, I mean on
- 7:12Speaker 2: a global scale, very cooperative. That's another reason why I'm like,
- 7:18Speaker 2: I know this is six one six, Nor is it
- 7:20Speaker 2: any Earth that I know of, let alone any USA
- 7:24Speaker 2: New York that I know of, New York being an outlining,
- 7:26Speaker 2: And yes, you have a multiple pot of people, sure,
- 7:29Speaker 2: but we had there's notes on We got notes on
- 7:32Speaker 2: New York, right, there's notes on everything. And like I said,
- 7:35Speaker 2: and really the other reason why this this felt transportive
- 7:39Speaker 2: or transformative is just because the isms that I, as
- 7:43Speaker 2: a black woman know very intimately, we're just not there.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And I was like, this is a fairy tale space.
- 7:50Speaker 2: So and that's not shade. This is just giving you
- 7:54Speaker 2: a better understanding of what kind of setting we're talking about.
- 7:57Speaker 3: There we go setting the table for people, and I
- 7:59Speaker 3: think that's something that for them to know because it's
- 8:02Speaker 3: just like with the most recent Superman again, I's talking
- 8:05Speaker 3: to Jay Slayer recently about it and he was like, yo,
- 8:08Speaker 3: my kids loved it, not me. And I was like, well,
- 8:10Speaker 3: you got to go into it with the eyes of
- 8:12Speaker 3: a child man, because it's that same thing and that Superman.
- 8:15Speaker 3: You don't hear about isms and that, well, I will
- 8:17Speaker 3: say Superman and these touches on that. Yeah, a lot
- 8:20Speaker 3: more than even Fantastic for It.
- 8:22Speaker 2: That's a way more imperfect most of these superfilms. Superfilms,
- 8:26Speaker 2: that's it, you know, superhero films I've shown in perfect places.
- 8:30Speaker 4: Right, Yes, yes there were villains.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Even the villains are like, don't seem that bad at
- 8:35Speaker 2: least in this Fantastic for It. Right, So it's just like, oh,
- 8:38Speaker 2: maybe misunderstood opposed to full blown.
- 8:43Speaker 4: What's a baddism besides racism, you.
- 8:45Speaker 3: Know, sexism, sexism, misogyny, misogyny, Like, yeah, those do not
- 8:52Speaker 3: seem to exist in this world, right No, And that
- 8:55Speaker 3: is something that I don't want to say that it's
- 8:57Speaker 3: lost over it. Just it's one of those things I
- 9:00Speaker 3: think where you have to accept the effect of someone
- 9:04Speaker 3: like Reid Richard's and someone like sus Storm, even though
- 9:07Speaker 3: they are both to us white presenting. I mean, well,
- 9:10Speaker 3: in this world, Read is played by Pedro Pascal, so
- 9:14Speaker 3: but a super genius family who has you know, given
- 9:19Speaker 3: theirselves to the world and what effect that would have
- 9:22Speaker 3: on the world, and especially a world that has been
- 9:26Speaker 3: used to intergalactic and you know, theme threats of that nature,
- 9:31Speaker 3: where they might be more unified than us because they've
- 9:35Speaker 3: met aliens, they've seen alien races, they've seen a lot
- 9:38Speaker 3: more than we have at this point. So I think
- 9:42Speaker 3: that might be one of the contributing factors to as
- 9:45Speaker 3: to why the movie is the way it is, like
- 9:47Speaker 3: you say, where we don't see any of these isms.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It's a very idealized world.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Yeah, and as mentioned, I do think that's really important
- 9:55Speaker 2: to hold that in your head when you go into
- 9:57Speaker 2: It's like just in terms of if you do want
- 10:00Speaker 2: to set an expectation for yourself, just take yourself out
- 10:03Speaker 2: of this world. And it is actually because and as
- 10:07Speaker 2: I said before, that's not shade.
- 10:08Speaker 4: That's actually a good thing.
- 10:11Speaker 2: And the main reason is that as when I came
- 10:13Speaker 2: out of this film, I put my hands up to
- 10:16Speaker 2: this guy and I said, prayers goes up, blessings come down,
- 10:20Speaker 2: because I felt like, finally something good has happened to
- 10:25Speaker 2: me recently. Besides Iron heart in the world of MCU,
- 10:32Speaker 2: just in terms of just feeling happy, in terms of
- 10:35Speaker 2: feeling satisfied, in terms of not feeling depressed, in terms
- 10:41Speaker 2: of not feeling like beaten down. And that could also
- 10:48Speaker 2: be derivative of what's going on in real life, which
- 10:50Speaker 2: I understand, but also I've.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Just in a lot of these films.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I'm just even even in the TV shows, I just
- 10:57Speaker 2: felt like, damn, we can't catch your break. Is something
- 11:00Speaker 2: negative happened? Damn is something depressing happening? I got I
- 11:04Speaker 2: came away from this feeling joyful. Yes, And that makes
- 11:10Speaker 2: all the difference for me when it comes to one
- 11:12Speaker 2: of the reasons why when it comes to this film,
- 11:14Speaker 2: why I was really really happy with it.
- 11:17Speaker 3: You didn't, I mean, Thunderbolts is definitely a lot more
- 11:21Speaker 3: that's depressing. Yeah, it's a mental issues, a lot of things. Yeah,
- 11:25Speaker 3: so I see what you mean, They're okay. So that
- 11:27Speaker 3: being said, Yes, Iron Hart and Fantastic Four, and once
- 11:30Speaker 3: again going back to Superman, I feel like Superman and
- 11:32Speaker 3: Fantastic Four have a lot of the same DNA, I'll say,
- 11:38Speaker 3: and I enjoyed both of them for that reason. Where
- 11:42Speaker 3: at the end of it all, I was very overjoyed
- 11:45Speaker 3: as a huge like you see behind me, you know
- 11:49Speaker 3: the X Men of course and everything, but you see
- 11:51Speaker 3: right in front of me, I got my Fantastic Four.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Everyone who watches this show for or knows me for
- 11:58Speaker 3: any length of time you cannot begin to see the
- 12:02Speaker 3: length of galactus.
- 12:03Speaker 1: You know, fiendom that I live in.
- 12:06Speaker 3: But I'm also a huge Fantastic fore fan because of that,
- 12:09Speaker 3: and shout out to of course stan Lee and Jack
- 12:13Speaker 3: the King, Kirby and John Byrne, Ryan North. There's been
- 12:19Speaker 3: so many great runs, but definitely John Burn and Ryan North.
- 12:22Speaker 3: I really want to shout out because those are two
- 12:23Speaker 3: of my all time favorite Fantastic Four runs. This got it,
- 12:29Speaker 3: and it got it right off the break where you
- 12:33Speaker 3: just full feel like you're in this fully lived in world.
- 12:36Speaker 3: And if you're a Fantastic four fan, there are so
- 12:39Speaker 3: many quick shoutouts in easter heads thrown in when you're.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Like, oh yes, yes, okay, cool, we're here, We're in it.
- 12:45Speaker 3: They get it, and so that you know the world
- 12:49Speaker 3: building within the first fifteen to twenty minutes is so
- 12:52Speaker 3: it's suptually done to me where I'm like, okay, this
- 12:55Speaker 3: is great. It feels like Fantastic four. It feels like
- 12:58Speaker 3: a world where a Fantastic four is for some time
- 13:01Speaker 3: and have been saving the world. And that's the thing
- 13:03Speaker 3: about the Fantastic before, Like if you're a fan of
- 13:05Speaker 3: the comments there Marvel's first family, they are that lighthearted,
- 13:09Speaker 3: not lighthearted because they have some very They are family,
- 13:12Speaker 3: so they go through everything that a family would go through, but.
- 13:15Speaker 1: They always save to day. They're like the doctor who
- 13:18Speaker 1: of the MCU.
- 13:19Speaker 3: They're Explorer is more than superheroes, so they're always in
- 13:23Speaker 3: these weird dimensions off in space doing all this different stuff. Science, science, science,
- 13:30Speaker 3: bitch madn it's bitch. And so that's how this felt,
- 13:33Speaker 3: you know, straight up without the bitch. You know, there
- 13:35Speaker 3: was some cerson in it, which I was like, oh yeah,
- 13:38Speaker 3: but it wasn't excessive, no, but it was nice and
- 13:40Speaker 3: it worked for the setting, et cetera. And like I said,
- 13:43Speaker 3: because this is a family who will have arguments, who
- 13:46Speaker 3: will go through those scenes, you know, that all worked
- 13:49Speaker 3: for me.
- 13:51Speaker 1: I loved it pretty much beginning to end.
- 13:55Speaker 3: I definitely want to get into some of the characters,
- 13:58Speaker 3: and you know the add thing and you know, as always,
- 14:01Speaker 3: once again Marvel's casting department.
- 14:05Speaker 1: I mean, just ef an incredible.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Yes, I've enjoyed certain people in certain roles doing the
- 14:12Speaker 3: Fantastic Four before, like Chris Evans is human torch chick
- 14:15Speaker 3: list is the thing, but this is the first family
- 14:20Speaker 3: right here.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And yeah, Ben, just around off that point about when
- 14:23Speaker 2: you mentioned Easter eggs and all that, there is so
- 14:27Speaker 2: much fand service done in the most tasteful way that
- 14:31Speaker 2: I've never really seen in a long time. Most times
- 14:36Speaker 2: when there's fan service, and I know I'm using the
- 14:40Speaker 2: anime term, but it's even used here in these things, right,
- 14:43Speaker 2: we talk about Easter eggs, you talk about homages and
- 14:46Speaker 2: things like that, and things that are done, things that
- 14:49Speaker 2: are said to literally just stoke nostalgia and the people
- 14:52Speaker 2: who have the history right or just to say, hey,
- 14:55Speaker 2: we said the word. Things like that, like if someone says,
- 14:58Speaker 2: you know, you know something about the Force in a
- 15:01Speaker 2: Star Wars film or TV show, right, even though it
- 15:03Speaker 2: may have nothing to do with Jedi, right, the fact
- 15:05Speaker 2: that they say is because they're stoking that. There's so
- 15:08Speaker 2: much of that in Fantastic Four, but it's done in
- 15:10Speaker 2: a way that it's embedded, really balanced throughout the film,
- 15:16Speaker 2: and there's things that there's so much of it that
- 15:20Speaker 2: is so well embedded that you will miss it.
- 15:24Speaker 4: And as you said, the first fifteen minutes, I was like, bro,
- 15:28Speaker 4: I have to watch this again.
- 15:29Speaker 2: Like yeah, before the film got anywhere, I said, I
- 15:32Speaker 2: have to watch this again.
- 15:33Speaker 4: And I think that really shows the.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Power of as you mentioned, world building, the good storytelling,
- 15:41Speaker 2: and a good entry. When that first fifteen twenty minute
- 15:44Speaker 2: was over, Ben looked at me and said, that was
- 15:46Speaker 2: the hell of an intro.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I said, talked about intro. I said, that's how
- 15:50Speaker 3: you introd some movie. That's how you start off a
- 15:52Speaker 3: movie that.
- 15:54Speaker 2: It grabs you immediately, no matter where you stand in
- 15:58Speaker 2: the history of knowing anything podcasts, before you come in
- 16:02Speaker 2: there blank, having know nothing, you are good good.
- 16:07Speaker 1: After that first sity minutes, you'll understand everything about them.
- 16:10Speaker 4: If you have every figurine since nineteen fifty two.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Whatever the year was, you will be free. You won't be.
- 16:20Speaker 2: It's like, what word can I use as well above
- 16:22Speaker 2: pleasantly surprised, and you will be thrilled, enamored.
- 16:27Speaker 3: You will be you pleased, satisfied, satisfied service. Hey, we
- 16:35Speaker 3: gotta be careful when you say that, but yes, like
- 16:38Speaker 3: serve this royalty.
- 16:40Speaker 2: It's so much to see, it's so much to do,
- 16:42Speaker 2: it's so much to learn. And that's another aspect again
- 16:45Speaker 2: when we're talking about Marvel to me, Marvel reconstituting themselves.
- 16:50Speaker 2: It's just I've felt where I'm missing the will to
- 16:54Speaker 2: learn or the will to want to care about what's.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Going on around me. I'm being on with you. It's
- 17:01Speaker 1: just like I don't really want to.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Learn more about this, even though I may already known.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I'm like, ah, you know, because the delivery was off,
- 17:07Speaker 2: there was something off about it.
- 17:09Speaker 4: This feels right, This feels really well thought out. In
- 17:15Speaker 4: terms of the writers we see Josh Friedman, Eric Pearson,
- 17:19Speaker 4: Jeff Kaplan, and of course that director Matt Shackman. They Hmm.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I think why I'm having this type of reaction because
- 17:28Speaker 2: I'm just so happy. I just don't be that happy
- 17:31Speaker 2: coming out these films.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Like that lately lately, I mean I mean lately for
- 17:38Speaker 3: like four five years. Yeah, yeah, I mean, you know,
- 17:41Speaker 3: yeah that being taken there, I remember Covid et cetera.
- 17:43Speaker 3: But yeah, it's been rough.
- 17:45Speaker 1: It's been rough since Endgame has been hit or miss
- 17:47Speaker 1: and a lot more, miss not more, miss a lot.
- 17:51Speaker 4: More miss Okay, we could go just more into you
- 17:54Speaker 4: mentioned the casting.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yes, I will still like chick List is still one
- 17:58Speaker 2: of the deef if not the definitive thing for me, however,
- 18:03Speaker 2: Kama Yeah.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Evan Evan Boss back Rock.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Aka cousin from the Bear, Yeah, I think he is
- 18:15Speaker 2: the true successor. Yeah, and I hope and I would
- 18:19Speaker 2: love to find out. I hope I get a chance
- 18:20Speaker 2: to interview him. Just did he even speak to Michael?
- 18:23Speaker 1: Did they have words.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Michael's blessing anything? I saw a thread from Michael today
- 18:27Speaker 3: where he was giving them their blessing. He said, there's
- 18:29Speaker 3: been a lot of you know, talk to him for
- 18:31Speaker 3: the last two months since the run up, and he's
- 18:33Speaker 3: been you know, overjoyed to pass it along.
- 18:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I had always said, oh, no one's touching tickles when
- 18:38Speaker 2: it comes to this, because you know, he embodies that
- 18:41Speaker 2: that humanity within the.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Rock, right.
- 18:44Speaker 3: And I knew as soon as they cast cos it
- 18:47Speaker 3: was a rap, I mean not a rap, but I
- 18:48Speaker 3: knew that he was gonna put his stamp on it.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:50Speaker 2: But Evan, No, Evan put his foot into ben Grim. Yes,
- 18:56Speaker 2: he put his foot into it. I would, I will
- 18:58Speaker 2: say I wanted to see more. I understand why they
- 19:01Speaker 2: didn't focus on his cap. They touched on it, like
- 19:05Speaker 2: Ben is a very tragic character. He's a tragic and
- 19:08Speaker 2: this is this is, this is base of knowledge, just
- 19:10Speaker 2: the fact that with the fantastic foward getting their powers,
- 19:14Speaker 2: he's the only one that changed physically, like to the
- 19:16Speaker 2: point where he can't turn back to just having normal
- 19:20Speaker 2: skin or human human normal skin, a normal face like
- 19:24Speaker 2: he's he's and this is through every iteration of it.
- 19:27Speaker 2: He's constantly looking himself. He's constantly doubting himself. He's constantly
- 19:30Speaker 2: I have the feeling like, why would they might love me?
- 19:32Speaker 2: I literally am a fucking bold thing, right, I'm a thing.
- 19:38Speaker 2: And even though we get a little bit of that,
- 19:42Speaker 2: not as deep as you want it to be, you
- 19:45Speaker 2: still feel the pain and like and maybe that's an
- 19:47Speaker 2: ebbing thing, but this man.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Can emote his ass off.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I think, like you said that you could have gotten more.
- 19:55Speaker 3: But I also loved that what they did with the
- 19:58Speaker 3: time with him, with with normal people on the street,
- 20:03Speaker 3: all of those things contributed. Because Red and Ben's relationship
- 20:08Speaker 3: is very special. They were best friends before he became
- 20:12Speaker 3: the test pilot that led to this. So it's like
- 20:15Speaker 3: you said, it's steeped in tragedy and steeped in drama,
- 20:19Speaker 3: and this is just the beginning. So that was more
- 20:21Speaker 3: than enough for me. And again, like you said, Evan
- 20:25Speaker 3: and down the line, for me, this is now the
- 20:27Speaker 3: first family. This is they got it. You know, all
- 20:31Speaker 3: four of them did it. It's not there's a there's
- 20:34Speaker 3: not a weak link here. All four of them did
- 20:37Speaker 3: the damn thing. This is Marvel's first family. This is
- 20:40Speaker 3: the future foundation. This is the Fantastic Four.
- 20:44Speaker 4: What did you feel about Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm?
- 20:47Speaker 1: Incredible and one like.
- 20:50Speaker 3: Thing that I really I mean, there's a lot of
- 20:52Speaker 3: things that I really liked about the portrayal of this
- 20:55Speaker 3: version of the Fantastic Four, but one thing that I
- 20:58Speaker 3: really want to touch. I love Joseph when from Stranger Things.
- 21:02Speaker 3: I can never get over how much my man looks
- 21:04Speaker 3: like Robert Downey Junior. It is the weirdest thing to
- 21:06Speaker 3: me in the world. But I do want to say
- 21:10Speaker 3: that I love this portrayal of Johnny Storm because they
- 21:12Speaker 3: didn't go with the idiot hot rod Johnny Storm. They
- 21:16Speaker 3: went with someone who would be Susan Storm's brother, because
- 21:19Speaker 3: Suitsan Storm is a genius as well.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah, and so you wouldn't have an idiot younger brother
- 21:24Speaker 1: like that, Well you could, you couldn't good. But I
- 21:27Speaker 1: hate that trophy.
- 21:28Speaker 2: It's very trophy and it doesn't justify why they would
- 21:32Speaker 2: all be tagging along on these scientific missions. At the
- 21:36Speaker 2: end of the day, these are highly scientific missions and
- 21:38Speaker 2: you can't have a bumbling idiot next to you who
- 21:41Speaker 2: don't know one plus one is two, right. And I'm
- 21:44Speaker 2: glad you mentioned that because I did want to mention
- 21:45Speaker 2: that that they made it so like everyone felt everyone
- 21:49Speaker 2: felt equal, like, no, no one suit smarter than read,
- 21:53Speaker 2: but they felt like, yes, they all belonged in that space.
- 21:56Speaker 2: No one felt dumber than the next. Everyone contributed, and
- 21:59Speaker 2: I I will agree with you.
- 22:00Speaker 4: On that point.
- 22:01Speaker 2: When it comes to Joseph Quinn's Johnny Storm, they played
- 22:06Speaker 2: with the trope but then elevated him. Yes, he wasn't
- 22:10Speaker 2: just pure oh dumb, dumb, sexy whatever he calls himself
- 22:14Speaker 2: right like it was.
- 22:16Speaker 1: He has purpose.
- 22:18Speaker 3: And that goes back to something I wanted to mention
- 22:20Speaker 3: about the Easter eggs and things of that nature that
- 22:23Speaker 3: you were talking about is that this goes back to
- 22:26Speaker 3: the very beginning of the comments. First of all, you know,
- 22:28Speaker 3: as we said, it's I keep saying Marvel, this is
- 22:30Speaker 3: their first family. Stand and Jack, this is the first
- 22:34Speaker 3: comic book. This is what led off the Marvel revolution
- 22:37Speaker 3: is Fantastic Four, and they as a group of characters
- 22:41Speaker 3: have always lived in this world where their celebrities, you know,
- 22:45Speaker 3: their faces are known, Like the Fantastic Four have always
- 22:48Speaker 3: been that group. They're not the X Men where they're
- 22:50Speaker 3: feared and hated. They're not the Avengers where they're like
- 22:53Speaker 3: Earth's Mighty as heroes. They're their first family. Everybody knows them.
- 22:57Speaker 3: They're on the lunch boxes, they're.
- 22:59Speaker 1: On this serial, the commercialized, commercialized.
- 23:03Speaker 3: They have a comic book that Ben Grimm will walk
- 23:06Speaker 3: down to the Marvel offices and complain how they get
- 23:10Speaker 3: his adventures wrong.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You know, that's how it goes into comic.
- 23:14Speaker 3: So they incorporate all those type of things into this
- 23:18Speaker 3: and I loved all of that, and that's why, like
- 23:21Speaker 3: Joseph Quinn has a lot of those moments where you know,
- 23:24Speaker 3: he gets to show off how the world reacts around
- 23:28Speaker 3: the Fantastic Yeah, like what is that it's like almost breaking.
- 23:33Speaker 2: It's like breaking the fourth warble not fourth wall, yeah,
- 23:36Speaker 2: because it's like it's the it's the excuse me, it's
- 23:39Speaker 2: the world of the film's fourth wall, but not the
- 23:42Speaker 2: actual real life fourth wall.
- 23:44Speaker 4: So what is that the fifth wall?
- 23:45Speaker 1: Like, yeah, it's one of those weird things.
- 23:47Speaker 3: But it's like the Fantastic Four in Marvel Comics have
- 23:51Speaker 3: a monthly comic that's written about them and in the
- 23:54Speaker 3: comic book that.
- 23:55Speaker 1: They have the comic, like yeah, it's but it's like
- 23:59Speaker 1: it's like the real thing.
- 24:00Speaker 3: It's like as a Fantastic four suddenly appeared in New
- 24:03Speaker 3: York right now, right, If suddenly there was four dudes
- 24:05Speaker 3: of powers, Marvel Comics would be like, Yo, we need
- 24:07Speaker 3: to make a comic about them, and then they would
- 24:10Speaker 3: start consulting them and being like, yo, right, right, what
- 24:13Speaker 3: are your you know, what are your adventures about? Okay, cool,
- 24:16Speaker 3: let's write about those. And so that's how it words.
- 24:19Speaker 3: It's that type of thing, and then eventually they would
- 24:20Speaker 3: have movies made about them and people would be like, Yo,
- 24:23Speaker 3: what did you do?
- 24:23Speaker 1: Okay, let's write about that.
- 24:25Speaker 3: And so that's how it works in the comics, and
- 24:27Speaker 3: that's how it's working in this universe that this first
- 24:31Speaker 3: steps is taking place in. And I loved that because
- 24:34Speaker 3: that's like their celebrities, you know, their faces or known
- 24:37Speaker 3: and they always say to day you know, they bring science,
- 24:40Speaker 3: like we said, to the job.
- 24:42Speaker 1: So it's like they're this thing where they're celebrated. Yeah,
- 24:45Speaker 1: it's believable.
- 24:46Speaker 2: I would say that it's more believe because they don't
- 24:48Speaker 2: rely on the tropes or they they and they do
- 24:51Speaker 2: this a lot within throughout the movie with almost everything
- 24:54Speaker 2: where they take you down one alley and then they
- 24:57Speaker 2: pull you into another, like think you going one way
- 25:00Speaker 2: and they go the other way.
- 25:01Speaker 4: And they do this with each of the characters too.
- 25:02Speaker 2: It's like, well, you think you know how I'm going
- 25:04Speaker 2: to present you this character, but now I'm gonna throw
- 25:06Speaker 2: you over here to give you a little bit of
- 25:08Speaker 2: a curve ball, just so you don't anticipate and try
- 25:11Speaker 2: to guess where this is. Where we're going with this,
- 25:13Speaker 2: and it's done. It in its great again done in
- 25:16Speaker 2: a very almost respectful manner to Disvergeon of Johnny Storm
- 25:20Speaker 2: because as mentioned, it does give him more it gives
- 25:25Speaker 2: him more.
- 25:27Speaker 1: Agency. Yes, and I think that comes up a lot.
- 25:31Speaker 3: Ryan North who's the current Fantastic Four writer in the
- 25:35Speaker 3: comments and it's absolutely killing it. And his run is
- 25:38Speaker 3: like that where it's a very science approach for they're
- 25:41Speaker 3: all very brilliant and even though Johnny is still hot,
- 25:44Speaker 3: ride fun loving god, he's not an idiot, but yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 3: he's not got a job. Also, and that's another one
- 25:51Speaker 3: I want to go back to, is being Grim and
- 25:53Speaker 3: this for Ben Grim. You know, he is that tragic figure.
- 25:56Speaker 3: He's loved in this. He is never called a monster.
- 26:02Speaker 1: He's not feared.
- 26:03Speaker 3: The fans, thege, you know, the people on the street,
- 26:06Speaker 3: all everyone loves him. And I think that is a
- 26:09Speaker 3: very dope version of the thing because that's you know,
- 26:12Speaker 3: they've had that version of it.
- 26:13Speaker 2: I've seen the opposite of where it was like, oh
- 26:16Speaker 2: yeah it's sue Johnny and yeah, no, I.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Don't really sad.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think that, you know, going with this
- 26:24Speaker 3: version where they're all celebrities and he's even accepted who
- 26:28Speaker 3: he is.
- 26:28Speaker 1: You know, he can walk down the street, people know
- 26:30Speaker 1: him by first name. He knows people my first name.
- 26:33Speaker 3: They they invoked the Yancey street name and even the
- 26:38Speaker 3: gang a little bit for comic book fans, that's something
- 26:41Speaker 3: you know. Ben Grimm is from Yancey Street and the
- 26:44Speaker 3: Yancey Street Gang is something that comes up in the
- 26:46Speaker 3: comics a lot. So it was all those little touches
- 26:49Speaker 3: that are just fantastic. Can we talk about.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Storm Vanessa?
- 26:58Speaker 1: Talk about Vanessa?
- 27:00Speaker 4: Vanessa a face card?
- 27:03Speaker 1: Oh my god. I mean it's like a long running.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Joke about people who use like powers that are either
- 27:08Speaker 2: you know, like mind type powers or powers that you
- 27:10Speaker 2: can't exactly see, but it's what it's doing.
- 27:12Speaker 4: Kinetic shit. You gotta serve face.
- 27:15Speaker 1: She serves face so well, you feel it.
- 27:19Speaker 4: You feel it. Yeah, and Vanessa carry I love her
- 27:21Speaker 4: as that.
- 27:21Speaker 2: I mean, my yes, She's done a lot of things,
- 27:23Speaker 2: but my main thing where I really fell in love
- 27:25Speaker 2: her was because of Mission Impossible. Same and so I
- 27:28Speaker 2: was like, oh, I want to see her in everything,
- 27:29Speaker 2: and to see her.
- 27:30Speaker 4: In this like she eats, she eats when it comes
- 27:34Speaker 4: to this roll suit.
- 27:36Speaker 3: I haven't seen her in a lot of things. Oh
- 27:37Speaker 3: you know, it's pretty much mission impossible in this, and
- 27:40Speaker 3: so I was concerned because I didn't know. And then
- 27:43Speaker 3: Mission impossible, but she is such a dope character. I
- 27:45Speaker 3: wasn't sure if that was just you know, was she
- 27:48Speaker 3: one note or could she do?
- 27:50Speaker 1: Sue Storm? And she is Sue's Storm because she.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Is the mother, she is the warrior, she is the intelligence,
- 27:57Speaker 3: she is the heart of the team.
- 27:59Speaker 1: She is you know, the sister, the everything that the
- 28:05Speaker 1: leader from the.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Leader everything like she's like a she's I'm every woman.
- 28:11Speaker 1: That's yes, yes, she do that. She does it all.
- 28:16Speaker 3: And Sue is such an important character to me, Like
- 28:19Speaker 3: I said, I'm a big Fantasic fore fan.
- 28:22Speaker 1: And a little quick history because I've been thinking about
- 28:24Speaker 1: this a lot.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Is Susan Storm is one of those characters who when
- 28:27Speaker 3: you know she first debuts, she's the invisible girl, right.
- 28:32Speaker 1: With mister fantastic girl. Right. She doesn't even have force
- 28:36Speaker 1: fields the first. All she can do is turn invisible.
- 28:39Speaker 1: She is a liability on most of the original mission.
- 28:43Speaker 3: It's sad because every time she turns in visible to
- 28:46Speaker 3: the villains like well I can see you through this,
- 28:48Speaker 3: you know, or some other way, they can always find
- 28:50Speaker 3: a way. She's always get knocked out or captured. For
- 28:53Speaker 3: like the first fifty something issues. It's terrible. You know,
- 28:56Speaker 3: she's constantly getting played. Then she gets to Forest Fields
- 28:59Speaker 3: and the other you know, writers come in and start
- 29:01Speaker 3: really using her better than Staying. Even Staying you know,
- 29:04Speaker 3: does better with her later on, But John Burrn it
- 29:06Speaker 3: takes until John Byrne right until the nineteen eighties, so
- 29:10Speaker 3: like twenty something years of this character. At this point,
- 29:13Speaker 3: Sue Storm has had Franklin in the comics and I
- 29:18Speaker 3: think she's Miss Terry.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeah, she has.
- 29:20Speaker 3: She has miscarried her second child in the comics, and
- 29:24Speaker 3: she's still going around by the Invisible Girl. It takes
- 29:28Speaker 3: a violation by this character who basically does mental and
- 29:33Speaker 3: whatever else type you know, attack on her, that is,
- 29:36Speaker 3: you know, a pure violation of her being for her
- 29:40Speaker 3: to finally say, no, I need to be called the
- 29:42Speaker 3: invisible woman.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Yeah, and.
- 29:46Speaker 4: That's fucked up for obvious reasons.
- 29:47Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just a ridiculously sad, you know thing that
- 29:52Speaker 3: it took this character that long for men because they
- 29:55Speaker 3: were always writing her to be like, well, maybe should
- 29:58Speaker 3: be a woman instead of.
- 30:00Speaker 4: The answer is because men, Yes, because men.
- 30:03Speaker 3: And so that being said, this is this is not that,
- 30:06Speaker 3: this is the fully developed Susan Storm, the invisible woman,
- 30:11Speaker 3: with the invisibility, with the force fields to the max,
- 30:14Speaker 3: the most dangerous character in the FF honestly, and that's
- 30:18Speaker 3: been established through the comments for a long time now.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Like she is.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Easily the most dangerous character when it comes down to it,
- 30:26Speaker 3: she can murder you in a dozen different ways.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Yeah, if they're going down to the old X men
- 30:32Speaker 2: when they say, oh you are mega level, she's one
- 30:34Speaker 2: of them.
- 30:35Speaker 1: She's one of the problem.
- 30:36Speaker 4: She's a big joker.
- 30:37Speaker 2: And yes, just just in speaking of power levels, they
- 30:41Speaker 2: were consistent, Thank you, Marvel. They were consistent, and they
- 30:46Speaker 2: really showed you these are not the ones to fuck
- 30:49Speaker 2: around with, none of them.
- 30:50Speaker 4: The power set that they were showing for each of
- 30:53Speaker 4: these people.
- 30:53Speaker 2: And how they wielded their powers and the creativity around
- 30:58Speaker 2: that is done very strongly. And I really got a
- 31:04Speaker 2: sense of like when when someone was displaying a level
- 31:07Speaker 2: of power that was overwhelming, that it felt yes and
- 31:12Speaker 2: looked overwhelming, And that again is just an aspect that
- 31:15Speaker 2: had been missing that now it's like, Okay, thank you
- 31:18Speaker 2: for showing me what it means when this nigga Johnny
- 31:20Speaker 2: Storm is on fire nova when he when he doesn't
- 31:25Speaker 2: show me what it means when you say Ben Grimm
- 31:27Speaker 2: is as strong as whatever they say, He's as strong
- 31:29Speaker 2: as show me what it means in terms of yes,
- 31:32Speaker 2: reads intelligence, but also the fact.
- 31:34Speaker 4: That this nigga could fucking stretch longer than you think,
- 31:37Speaker 4: right Like.
- 31:39Speaker 2: But all that to say back to Sue, how they
- 31:42Speaker 2: show her power levels and not just her her superpowers,
- 31:47Speaker 2: her mental fortitude, her mental fortitude, the fact that.
- 31:52Speaker 1: She is nearly as smartest read.
- 31:54Speaker 4: Everything about her was so well done.
- 31:57Speaker 2: And then just looking at it from a woman's lens,
- 31:59Speaker 2: I was like, thank God, Like I didn't explain nothing less,
- 32:02Speaker 2: but I was just like, thank God.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Yeah, like I said, I gave you that whole backstory
- 32:08Speaker 3: to know how she used to get played in the comics,
- 32:11Speaker 3: but current writers, including even going back to John Byrne,
- 32:14Speaker 3: but Ryan North once again utilizes to to the peak
- 32:18Speaker 3: of her ability. And I always love seeing that and
- 32:21Speaker 3: this movie against it. She is the heart and soul
- 32:24Speaker 3: of the FF. She is the most powerful member of
- 32:27Speaker 3: the FF, and all of that was fully on display.
- 32:31Speaker 2: She's everything, And of course I can't say, but there's
- 32:34Speaker 2: one scene where I was I was gagged.
- 32:37Speaker 3: That was just like really really, I was waiting for that.
- 32:41Speaker 3: I already knew really and I know exactly were talking
- 32:47Speaker 3: about it, and I was like yep. I was like, wow,
- 32:49Speaker 3: that's right, talk about that's my woman. And then I
- 32:53Speaker 3: also want to say, like you were talking about the
- 32:55Speaker 3: powers and the usage of powers, this goes back to
- 32:58Speaker 3: the First Avengers. We're all sitting in the theaterm like,
- 33:02Speaker 3: and there's power combinations being displayed on train. I'm like, oh, oh, oh, okay,
- 33:09Speaker 3: that's so, you know, like, oh those two did that
- 33:11Speaker 3: and they combo together, okay, fire, and it's nothing being said,
- 33:16Speaker 3: you know, it's just happening. And that's like the First
- 33:18Speaker 3: Avenger is when at one point Iron Man flies by
- 33:21Speaker 3: and shoots cap shield and Cap holds up his shield
- 33:25Speaker 3: and reflecting and gets some of the aliens, and it's
- 33:29Speaker 3: just instinctual because these two barely even know each other
- 33:32Speaker 3: at that point, while the fantast four are working together,
- 33:35Speaker 3: you know, for years as a team and as a family,
- 33:39Speaker 3: and that's all shown, you know, through their actions and
- 33:42Speaker 3: through the acting, I mean and the acting and the
- 33:46Speaker 3: fighting scenes.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Then we have Pagro Pascal as Reid Richards for not
- 33:53Speaker 2: read Big Zaddy Energy.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:58Speaker 4: Paige Ho is so smart, just how.
- 34:00Speaker 2: He takes on characters and brings them to life, the
- 34:05Speaker 2: cadence of which he speaks. When he's speaking as Read
- 34:09Speaker 2: that it's different. And when I say different, I mean
- 34:12Speaker 2: Read does not speak like other people. Right, that's because
- 34:15Speaker 2: he doesn't think like other people, right.
- 34:17Speaker 4: And he I don't know.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Sometimes I look at him like a doctor Manhattan type
- 34:21Speaker 2: where I'm just like, are you with me right now?
- 34:23Speaker 2: Like are you even on the same plane of existence
- 34:25Speaker 2: as I? You're sitting next to me, but are you
- 34:27Speaker 2: here right now?
- 34:28Speaker 1: Read is not?
- 34:29Speaker 2: And you see that like he has social he has
- 34:34Speaker 2: social skills, yes, but he's different. Yes, he's different in
- 34:38Speaker 2: his speech, his tone, the way obviously the way you think.
- 34:41Speaker 2: But it's in his presentation as a person and the
- 34:46Speaker 2: way that Pedro was able to deliver that, like him
- 34:49Speaker 2: giving him a script he says, okay, like what like
- 34:53Speaker 2: there's been lots of iterations to read what made him
- 34:56Speaker 2: say this is the way I'm going to say these words.
- 35:00Speaker 4: And once y'all watch it, you'll get what I'm saying.
- 35:02Speaker 2: When I'm when I'm expressing about how he speaks is
- 35:05Speaker 2: so vastly important to understanding the characterization of Reid.
- 35:11Speaker 3: This is just read down like I just keep doing that.
- 35:14Speaker 3: This is the perfect casting of the fans that suffording me.
- 35:19Speaker 3: And while I can definitely say that, like you said,
- 35:22Speaker 3: I would like more of Johnny and more of Ben,
- 35:25Speaker 3: the interactions between Read and Sue, and that's what I
- 35:30Speaker 3: was waiting for.
- 35:31Speaker 4: Those are real.
- 35:33Speaker 1: That's I believed it.
- 35:35Speaker 3: I mean from the the movie opens with them too,
- 35:38Speaker 3: and they carry it from then on in chemistry is
- 35:42Speaker 3: the word.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Of the day. The sex, you know, I just saw it,
- 35:47Speaker 1: like like in the mortal words of my show, this
- 35:52Speaker 1: guy fucks, this girl fucks. These two right here, these
- 35:57Speaker 1: two right here, they doing some serious good fucking.
- 36:02Speaker 4: And honestly, you and they're joking about it. You want that,
- 36:05Speaker 4: you want that.
- 36:07Speaker 1: I don't mean those two actors. I just mean, like, no,
- 36:10Speaker 1: I know what you mean. Character characters are.
- 36:14Speaker 4: What I was gonna say, was you want that?
- 36:16Speaker 2: You want that to be to show through through the
- 36:19Speaker 2: character work of these actors when they're portraying these characters,
- 36:22Speaker 2: because yes, you mentioned that this is a family, but
- 36:24Speaker 2: also these two are a couple, and they are a couple.
- 36:28Speaker 2: These are our super family, and presumably, at least in
- 36:31Speaker 2: this universe, the only super folks around that are really
- 36:35Speaker 2: helping doing a lot, and there are a couple going
- 36:38Speaker 2: through couple of things and going through the impossible, right,
- 36:43Speaker 2: And there's got to be sometimes where it's just like
- 36:46Speaker 2: you said, the sex, it comes through and and and
- 36:51Speaker 2: I don't mean literally, I just mean that energy and
- 36:54Speaker 2: that connection between them.
- 36:55Speaker 1: Like fury and passion, you get.
- 37:00Speaker 2: They're both so passionate, and so there are several scenes
- 37:05Speaker 2: where they both get exceptionally passionate about whatever the topic
- 37:09Speaker 2: is at hand.
- 37:10Speaker 4: And you've seen them like damn, should I be here
- 37:12Speaker 4: right now? Like right, y'all need a room real quick.
- 37:16Speaker 2: And again I'm not talking about physical I'm talking about
- 37:19Speaker 2: just talking drama, the drama, and that's why I want
- 37:24Speaker 2: to see more. There is the drama between them, but
- 37:27Speaker 2: not from toxicity.
- 37:28Speaker 3: It's just from love and from a dramatic situation. And
- 37:32Speaker 3: it's strenuous situation. Yes, and I love it because that's
- 37:37Speaker 3: what the Fantastic for us all about, you know, And that,
- 37:40Speaker 3: oh man, this movie hits all the way on that ben.
- 37:44Speaker 2: Before we get the characters stuff, we gotta talk about
- 37:46Speaker 2: your Man's Ralph Innocent as as well as Julia Garner
- 37:51Speaker 2: as Shlabah.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Let me take a real quick all right, hold up,
- 37:57Speaker 1: hold up, yeah, because I've been waiting on this.
- 38:00Speaker 3: I've been waiting, you know, all my life place in
- 38:02Speaker 3: Phil Collins right now, you know, let me talk me,
- 38:08Speaker 3: let me double fisted real quick.
- 38:09Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 38:11Speaker 3: If you all understand there's another behind me, there's like,
- 38:13Speaker 3: you know, twenty or so. Look, I put it on threads.
- 38:18Speaker 3: The cloud days are over.
- 38:22Speaker 1: We have.
- 38:25Speaker 3: A terrifying, a force of nature, a essential part of
- 38:32Speaker 3: the universe, the third force between eternity and death. Galactis Galen,
- 38:41Speaker 3: the only survivor of a prior universe.
- 38:46Speaker 1: We have it.
- 38:47Speaker 3: If you are a fan of Galactus, like I'm a
- 38:50Speaker 3: fan of Glactys. If you know nothing of Galactus, this
- 38:54Speaker 3: movie will make you a fan. Ralph Emerson, that's the man,
- 38:59Speaker 3: and fucking incense. Fucking incredible Ralph Incredible is what I'm
- 39:07Speaker 3: calling that man from now on because he did that.
- 39:12Speaker 1: From the moment I'm.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Sitting there with it in the theater with down are
- 39:16Speaker 3: like cheering, come on, because you know they're they're building
- 39:20Speaker 3: up to the moment we're we're gonna see Galastics and
- 39:22Speaker 3: his intro is pure perfection. I'm so glad that Marvel,
- 39:30Speaker 3: at least as far as I saw. Don't watch any
- 39:32Speaker 3: more commercials because I didn't see ship. I didn't know
- 39:35Speaker 3: exactly how I looked. I remember all was the foot
- 39:38Speaker 3: walking through the city and the shadow.
- 39:42Speaker 4: And they still didn't really show you exactly how it looks.
- 39:44Speaker 4: But he looks supposed to look out that.
- 39:47Speaker 1: He looks exactly like this big joint. If you have
- 39:51Speaker 1: the Marble has Lab or you google the Marble has
- 39:53Speaker 1: Lab Galactics and that's a perfect reputation. I mean, it's
- 39:58Speaker 1: the colors of everything. This even the right colors to me.
- 40:01Speaker 1: But it's it is what it is. It is they
- 40:03Speaker 1: did it. It's the force, it's the feeling, it's the fear.
- 40:07Speaker 3: This nigga is the most terrifying thing in the universe,
- 40:10Speaker 3: and you feel that with Galactus, you feel.
- 40:13Speaker 1: It insignificant nets to this force of nature and all
- 40:17Speaker 1: that that is on display.
- 40:20Speaker 4: You feel it, you see it. You even in the
- 40:24Speaker 4: dialogue that's shared by the Lactus.
- 40:29Speaker 2: As you mentioned the way, and this is also just
- 40:31Speaker 2: a shout out to overall the effects of the film,
- 40:34Speaker 2: the sex on the film, We're top tier, top top,
- 40:36Speaker 2: top tier, and the way Glactus was depicted, I felt
- 40:41Speaker 2: like Omar coming type shit, like yes, when he was there, all,
- 40:45Speaker 2: We're fucked like it was nothing about there was no
- 40:48Speaker 2: there was no all you could do is be filled
- 40:52Speaker 2: with trepidation all all. And then also in the same tone,
- 40:58Speaker 2: at least for me, Julia Garner and Shallabah Sho talk
- 41:02Speaker 2: about you said, I already knew Gallectus to be terrifying.
- 41:05Speaker 2: I didn't know I'm I'm I'm from the norm red days,
- 41:08Speaker 2: So I didn't know much about Shalla Ba.
- 41:09Speaker 4: Charla Ball is insane. Yeah, in terms of how they like,
- 41:17Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I've always known Harold's you know, literally, it's a herald
- 41:22Speaker 2: of the apocalypse, right, It's a herald of the worst
- 41:24Speaker 2: thing you could think of.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Sure, but I'm like, oh, these niggas just say, well
- 41:27Speaker 4: they got to stay in dip, right. And then also
- 41:30Speaker 4: I've seen the stories.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Particularly from like X Men, where like particularly like Noring,
- 41:33Speaker 2: where it's like, oh, they start realizing like, ah, maybe
- 41:36Speaker 2: I shouldn't be doing this, right, So they're trying to
- 41:38Speaker 2: redeem themselves. The last my last outing with with herolds
- 41:42Speaker 2: are like, oh, they're trying to redeem They're trying to
- 41:44Speaker 2: be helpful, right, this is not that this is Omar
- 41:48Speaker 2: coming Shala Ball, right, and and with nor remorse, and
- 41:53Speaker 2: it's very reminiscent of Tea two, you know, the liquid
- 41:57Speaker 2: metal sermon it. Think about that, and I'm talking to
- 42:01Speaker 2: people listening, think about that, and how ridiculously.
- 42:06Speaker 4: Scary that was, at least at least in that time
- 42:08Speaker 4: it was.
- 42:09Speaker 2: And just you know, put that that fear onto Shalla
- 42:13Speaker 2: ball and just maybe up it by a trillion, because
- 42:15Speaker 2: we're talking about a celestial intergalactic threat.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the level.
- 42:20Speaker 2: And that is precisely what you need when we're talking
- 42:23Speaker 2: about a big bad of this nature. Right, that's precisely
- 42:26Speaker 2: what you need when we talk about being consistent with
- 42:29Speaker 2: how you express why should I Why should I fear
- 42:32Speaker 2: this bad quote bad guy?
- 42:34Speaker 1: Right?
- 42:35Speaker 4: This is why Like, yes, yes, Galactus, East Worlds, whatever.
- 42:39Speaker 2: But the coming of him, the heralding of him before
- 42:43Speaker 2: he arrived, that shit is insane.
- 42:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that being said, like you said, noorn Rad is
- 42:50Speaker 1: often known as the peace love all that time.
- 42:53Speaker 4: Ah, my bad fam let me helped me.
- 42:55Speaker 3: But this is even then noron Rad is supposed to be,
- 43:00Speaker 3: especially when you first see.
- 43:01Speaker 1: Him, unknowable and angel of death. Right.
- 43:05Speaker 3: And so that is the version of Nora and that
- 43:08Speaker 3: I've always known as well before he you know, redeems
- 43:11Speaker 3: himself and Shalla is the same thing.
- 43:13Speaker 1: You know, they go through it. Not all the Heralds
- 43:16Speaker 1: are like that.
- 43:17Speaker 4: Though didn't give me intel it. Charla gave me a
- 43:19Speaker 4: y'all are cooked.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Well that's angel of death. Yeah, but I don't know.
- 43:23Speaker 4: I don't know. Norn gave me the sorry for you guys.
- 43:28Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 43:29Speaker 2: I felt like a tinge of Oh it's hopeless, but
- 43:32Speaker 2: you know, this is just how it is. Where almost
- 43:35Speaker 2: Shalah was giving me the energy of of like no hope.
- 43:39Speaker 1: But that's it, like it is no hope, and this
- 43:42Speaker 1: is how it is, and that's the this is how
- 43:44Speaker 1: it is.
- 43:44Speaker 2: And also almost it's almost the same, but it's also
- 43:48Speaker 2: just a tinge of Charlat just gave me a tinge
- 43:51Speaker 2: of meanness, a hints of more mean than what I
- 43:55Speaker 2: was used to. Let's just say that maybe that's the
- 43:57Speaker 2: difference because they're both doing the same things, but it's
- 43:59Speaker 2: just a tiny.
- 44:00Speaker 4: More bit of.
- 44:03Speaker 1: I don't like.
- 44:05Speaker 3: I still got the regret with Shla, and I think
- 44:09Speaker 3: that's what's really great because that's.
- 44:12Speaker 4: After the fact. Yeah, well, I'm talking about right when
- 44:15Speaker 4: you meet her, it's.
- 44:15Speaker 3: Just like, yikes, well when you meet her, as we've
- 44:18Speaker 3: seen in the commercials and everything, it is, you know,
- 44:21Speaker 3: the announcement of doom, and that's what it is. It's
- 44:23Speaker 3: not like that's the thing Shala and the Silver Surfer
- 44:27Speaker 3: character in general is someone who has accepted what Galactus is.
- 44:33Speaker 3: Like Galactus is a as they say, an essential part
- 44:37Speaker 3: of the universe. It is something that is supposed to
- 44:40Speaker 3: be eating plants. It's just fucked up that, you know,
- 44:44Speaker 3: we having to be on one. So that's how you know,
- 44:48Speaker 3: Silver Surfer looks at it in general, and that's why
- 44:51Speaker 3: you get that feeling of eh, like I don't know,
- 44:55Speaker 3: it's just it's.
- 44:56Speaker 2: Just it's the hey, this is an organism that just
- 45:00Speaker 2: showed up to your planet. Sorry, fam like this is
- 45:02Speaker 2: the yeah, this order showed up and then like it's
- 45:06Speaker 2: something it's just a level of intent there.
- 45:08Speaker 4: It was just something that was slightly different than what
- 45:10Speaker 4: I was expecting. Let's say that I think, well, yeah,
- 45:14Speaker 4: and it wasn't bad.
- 45:15Speaker 3: I was just saying no, yeah, as I've said, like,
- 45:20Speaker 3: because there's different versions of Surfer, this was like, okay.
- 45:24Speaker 1: Was intense.
- 45:25Speaker 4: Yeah, let me say that it was more intense than yeah.
- 45:28Speaker 1: And that's how that's how it should be, you know,
- 45:31Speaker 1: that's how Silver Surfer.
- 45:33Speaker 3: No matter Noring, whoever, it is, no matter what herald,
- 45:36Speaker 3: because there are many heralds that there's fire Lord, there's Tamer,
- 45:40Speaker 3: there's more, there's air Walker, there's many heralds, and no
- 45:43Speaker 3: matter which one nova shows up, it's a feeling of
- 45:48Speaker 3: all of you are going to die and there's nothing
- 45:50Speaker 3: you can.
- 45:51Speaker 1: Do about it, because it ain't about the herald. It's
- 45:57Speaker 1: about what's coming. It doesn't matter how they say it.
- 46:01Speaker 4: They just a little more nicely.
- 46:04Speaker 3: You can show up as a fucking bozo the clown
- 46:08Speaker 3: and do bat slips and be like, oh, you're.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Gonna die be and it's still show up, right, you
- 46:18Speaker 1: know you're gonna be like, what the fun? That's kind
- 46:19Speaker 1: of corny, And then this nigga shows up and you're like, oh,
- 46:23Speaker 1: I guess it wasn't corny.
- 46:24Speaker 2: No, no, no, you're right, and you know what, that's
- 46:26Speaker 2: just I realize now that's just coming from my last
- 46:28Speaker 2: memories of Noring, which is that's what I'm saying.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Trying to be helpful, but it doesn't matter.
- 46:33Speaker 3: Try to be because when this nigga show up, You're
- 46:36Speaker 3: still gonna get eight, Like, thanks for trying to help nigga.
- 46:39Speaker 1: I'd rather nigga keep it real, you know what I mean.
- 46:42Speaker 3: I'd rather nigga show up like nigga, all your niggas, Nigga,
- 46:46Speaker 3: I've done this over and over again, and this nigga
- 46:48Speaker 3: cooks everyone.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:50Speaker 2: The effects on Julia as Shallah look great, true surfer
- 46:55Speaker 2: energy throughout the film, from the way.
- 46:58Speaker 4: She moves, the way she all the way she presents. Yes,
- 47:02Speaker 4: you're gonna be happy with that presentation.
- 47:04Speaker 2: There are lots of other side characters that show up
- 47:08Speaker 2: to the delight, I know.
- 47:10Speaker 4: But every time they name the character, Ben said yes, yes.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Yes, And it's a lot of just everybody. Yeah, they
- 47:16Speaker 1: named so many, like Goosey fantastic characters.
- 47:19Speaker 2: That's why I said it was fan service, because they
- 47:21Speaker 2: didn't name damn there everybody.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Yeah, they name a lot of people, y'all, Like if
- 47:26Speaker 3: you're apt fan. There are a lot of shout outs
- 47:29Speaker 3: to all the various things like that we've seen the
- 47:32Speaker 3: Future Foundation, all the different incarnations I'll say, the Fantastic Four,
- 47:38Speaker 3: And then even in the credits, I was reading and
- 47:41Speaker 3: they gave us a lot of shout outs to a
- 47:43Speaker 3: bunch of the creators like Ryan North and John Byrne,
- 47:46Speaker 3: who are just responsible for so much of this Lord
- 47:49Speaker 3: that we're seeing on screen.
- 47:50Speaker 1: So I really like that.
- 47:51Speaker 3: And as others have said, this is definitely a true
- 47:55Speaker 3: love letter to Jack the King Kirby, which I want
- 48:00Speaker 3: to take a second and say something because stand Aman
- 48:02Speaker 3: Lee has been pretty much driven into our consciousness due
- 48:06Speaker 3: to his cameos.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Rest in peace to both of them. But Jack is
- 48:12Speaker 1: often not given enough credit.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Like Jack is known as the King, he is known
- 48:17Speaker 3: in front of the greatest artists of all time. He
- 48:19Speaker 3: revolutionized comic book art for all time. But as far
- 48:24Speaker 3: as what he contributed to the X Men, to the
- 48:29Speaker 3: Fantastic Foward, to their.
- 48:30Speaker 4: Double, to the DNA of comic books, to the.
- 48:33Speaker 1: DNA of Marvel especially, it's often not given enough credit. Yeah,
- 48:39Speaker 1: because Stan.
- 48:40Speaker 3: Often you know, it's like, oh, well, he wrote all this,
- 48:43Speaker 3: but that's not exactly true, and Jack did maybe probably probably,
- 48:49Speaker 3: especially when it comes to the creating a lot more
- 48:52Speaker 3: the heavy lifting. Stan is definitely the salesperson who made
- 48:55Speaker 3: it where they became the brand that they became, but
- 48:58Speaker 3: without Jack's pre a genius. And I say that, I
- 49:03Speaker 3: want to say it again and again, and I mean,
- 49:05Speaker 3: god fucking damn genius. Put him on the level of Michaelangelow,
- 49:09Speaker 3: any of them type of you know, great artists you
- 49:11Speaker 3: want to ever name, Jack Herbie has to be on
- 49:13Speaker 3: that list. And I'm so happy that this film takes
- 49:17Speaker 3: the time in several different ways and in one beautiful,
- 49:21Speaker 3: absolutely beautiful way that I won't reveal here to give
- 49:25Speaker 3: the tribute to Jack King Kirby.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Yeah, and also just because I don't want to make
- 49:30Speaker 2: sure we mentioned it, Herbie that's actually played by someone,
- 49:34Speaker 2: Matthew Wood.
- 49:34Speaker 4: Herbie was cute. It's gonna tell a lot of toys
- 49:37Speaker 4: for sure.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder. I mean, he ugly as fuck. I
- 49:39Speaker 3: don't know how many I'm gonna sell.
- 49:42Speaker 4: Toys, because it's like it was like, I don't think you're.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Gonna he wasn't annoying.
- 49:47Speaker 4: It's not like it's wasn't annoying.
- 49:48Speaker 1: There was.
- 49:49Speaker 2: I wasn't annoying, which says to be the case when
- 49:52Speaker 2: they try to introduce a character for for selling toys sake.
- 49:55Speaker 1: So yeah, he was not annoying.
- 49:57Speaker 3: And Herbie has a long history in the comic there
- 50:01Speaker 3: alternate you know, cartoons, et cetera.
- 50:04Speaker 2: So you know, yeah, one of the main other things
- 50:09Speaker 2: why this film is so strong was the way it sounded.
- 50:14Speaker 1: The score.
- 50:15Speaker 4: Yeah, not and not soundtrack.
- 50:17Speaker 2: It wasn't all soundtrack, but in terms of like regular
- 50:21Speaker 2: contemporary music or anything like that.
- 50:23Speaker 1: The score yeh, dope, sensational.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it completely what as like from every and this
- 50:32Speaker 2: is probably what led to me feeling like this didn't
- 50:35Speaker 2: feel like it didn't feel episodic. It didn't feel like
- 50:38Speaker 2: I saw hard lines of act one, act two, Act three.
- 50:41Speaker 4: I didn't feel that at all.
- 50:43Speaker 2: I just felt like this was one continuous story which
- 50:47Speaker 2: has also.
- 50:48Speaker 4: Something that and this is not just Marvel films, a
- 50:50Speaker 4: lot of films just like you can see the.
- 50:52Speaker 2: Lines of delineation like the first act, then we're gonna
- 50:55Speaker 2: have the train in matage.
- 50:56Speaker 4: Then we're gonna do this like it's very formulate.
- 50:59Speaker 2: You don't feel like I didn't even remember when one
- 51:02Speaker 2: act quote act began and one ended, or when one.
- 51:05Speaker 4: Scene like half the times the scenes blend so seems
- 51:09Speaker 4: to me with another.
- 51:09Speaker 2: I didn't realize they was done talking. It was they
- 51:12Speaker 2: was off that topic. Now they're going to the new one.
- 51:14Speaker 2: And what helped that tremendously was the score. Yes, the
- 51:19Speaker 2: the the orchestra, the orchestral sounds.
- 51:23Speaker 4: And gets the effects, of course, but it felt.
- 51:27Speaker 1: Very grand. Yeah.
- 51:31Speaker 3: It gave me Flash Jordan triumphant, you know, Space Opera.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Star Wars, Dune.
- 51:42Speaker 4: It was the dramatics.
- 51:43Speaker 1: It was a fantastic twist, you know.
- 51:46Speaker 3: And it's one of those, like the main Fantastic fourth
- 51:49Speaker 3: theme that we've heard in the commercials and stuff. When
- 51:51Speaker 3: it comes back up throughout the movie after you've heard
- 51:54Speaker 3: it once, you're like, ooh, it's an instant classic theme
- 51:57Speaker 3: to me.
- 51:57Speaker 1: Like that theme is something.
- 51:59Speaker 3: It's gonna be right there with the Avengers theme, like
- 52:01Speaker 3: when I hear the adventure theme in the movie, you know,
- 52:03Speaker 3: And that's the same thing when they played that Fantastic
- 52:05Speaker 3: fourth theme, I'm gonna get hype every time.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:08Speaker 2: And they don't o d on anything like And that's
- 52:10Speaker 2: why I said a lot of times where I didn't realize,
- 52:13Speaker 2: like one, like all the scenes were blending so seamlessly
- 52:15Speaker 2: within another, like it was literally the lived experience of
- 52:19Speaker 2: this family. And like the soundbeds just like when they're
- 52:23Speaker 2: talking and there's as you say, there's this maybe there's
- 52:26Speaker 2: a triumphant there's some happening and then you know, then
- 52:31Speaker 2: then there's a lull and and and then it waves
- 52:33Speaker 2: on to some another sound like it's so seamless.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Yeah, there's a moment when.
- 52:40Speaker 3: Surfer is chasing Torch and I'm like, ah, well, replay
- 52:45Speaker 3: that scene that music over and over again.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Oh man, the music was.
- 52:52Speaker 4: Just so on point.
- 52:53Speaker 2: We already mentioned that. The I think there was only
- 52:56Speaker 2: one thing where I had a question about the way
- 52:58Speaker 2: it looked effects wise, but everything else was was solid,
- 53:02Speaker 2: solid as hell.
- 53:03Speaker 4: You know, anyone who was CGI or had CGI bits to.
- 53:07Speaker 2: Them, even even Ben Grimm being wanted like, I don't
- 53:10Speaker 2: know what was necessarily practical versus what was just.
- 53:14Speaker 4: Digital, but it looked good. He looks really really good.
- 53:19Speaker 1: And I'm not going to give.
- 53:21Speaker 2: Away one of the little gags that they do with him,
- 53:24Speaker 2: and you may see it in like the trailers or whatever,
- 53:27Speaker 2: but they.
- 53:27Speaker 4: But they do a gag with him that works so
- 53:29Speaker 4: well with his character. It works.
- 53:32Speaker 2: Is it been in the comics, Yes, But I just
- 53:35Speaker 2: I just really liked how they gave him. They expressed
- 53:39Speaker 2: his humanity, not and also how he's active, but how
- 53:42Speaker 2: he looked and you know the big blue, the big.
- 53:44Speaker 4: The eye here we talked about the blue eyes and
- 53:45Speaker 4: all this stuff.
- 53:46Speaker 1: Like it's very strong.
- 53:49Speaker 2: When we say character, writing, direction, cinematography, action, the action.
- 53:55Speaker 4: Crazy, the fights crazy.
- 53:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it's Glactus like it's Glatus on screen.
- 54:03Speaker 1: How anyone who've read any comments where they have a
- 54:07Speaker 1: big Galactus battle. I even think they did, Yeah they did.
- 54:12Speaker 1: They did a shot from one of the famous Fantastic
- 54:16Speaker 1: Four versus Galaptus battles done by John Burns.
- 54:19Speaker 3: So it was it was just the comics come to
- 54:23Speaker 3: life in terms of that for me, And that's just
- 54:26Speaker 3: what I've been waiting for my whole life. Y'all understanding,
- 54:29Speaker 3: Like g Latus and me go back to like middle school,
- 54:32Speaker 3: that's when I first became a god damn fiend in
- 54:34Speaker 3: this nigga.
- 54:34Speaker 1: So it's it's a long time coming for me, and
- 54:38Speaker 1: it was perfection.
- 54:40Speaker 3: I had no notes on how Galastus, the Surfer the
- 54:45Speaker 3: Four looked in their battles throughout the movie, and just
- 54:50Speaker 3: not just the battles, but just how they moved, how
- 54:52Speaker 3: they interacted with each other, Like I'm talking about before
- 54:55Speaker 3: all the different power team ups things of that nature.
- 54:59Speaker 3: So for the torch everything dope.
- 55:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and just the one of the last ones that
- 55:06Speaker 2: I mentioned earlier, but I just want to bring it
- 55:08Speaker 2: up again.
- 55:09Speaker 4: There's so many like.
- 55:11Speaker 2: False like there's so many false endings and false uh
- 55:16Speaker 2: like red herrings about how a scene is gonna go. Yeah,
- 55:20Speaker 2: and I think they're like there were major ones, and
- 55:21Speaker 2: I literally think, to go along with the motif that
- 55:23Speaker 2: it happened four times. There were four literally because I
- 55:27Speaker 2: was counting while I was in the there there were
- 55:28Speaker 2: four major times where you thought shit was one way
- 55:31Speaker 2: then it changed the other way, and to to to
- 55:35Speaker 2: your great excitement, because it's just like it keeps you
- 55:39Speaker 2: on the edge of your seat, It keeps you engaged
- 55:41Speaker 2: and yeah, like we were both sitting up like, yo,
- 55:45Speaker 2: what is about to happen next? Like I'm excited to
- 55:49Speaker 2: watch this and which is why even coming out, I said, Yo,
- 55:51Speaker 2: I gotta watch this again. I will pay the money
- 55:53Speaker 2: to see this. We also saw this on Imax.
- 55:57Speaker 1: This is one of the things.
- 55:58Speaker 4: It looks great. It is. It is one of them
- 56:00Speaker 4: films I was shot for Imax. Go see you on
- 56:03Speaker 4: Imax if you can.
- 56:04Speaker 3: Yeah, because even just like the interactions like the opening
- 56:08Speaker 3: scene when I'm like ooh, I was like, oh.
- 56:11Speaker 1: This is beautiful, so.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Much stuff to see. Yeah, it's it's it's colorful.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not.
- 56:18Speaker 2: It's not the neon brightness colorful. It's just colorful that
- 56:23Speaker 2: it feels like it has life. Yeah, and it's not
- 56:28Speaker 2: dull if you will, right, Like there's stuff that could
- 56:30Speaker 2: be colored but be dull, you know, Like there's certain
- 56:33Speaker 2: films that have done that unfortunately, which is like an oxymoron,
- 56:36Speaker 2: but this is not it. This this gives you life,
- 56:38Speaker 2: This gives you bigger And I just got to say
- 56:41Speaker 2: just overall, they won Mark.
- 56:45Speaker 3: Yeah, no, this is definitely right, we heep saying, you know,
- 56:49Speaker 3: since end Game, but it's Thunderbolts proved that they were
- 56:54Speaker 3: back on track and this is.
- 56:56Speaker 1: You know, so a one two punch for the summer
- 56:58Speaker 1: for them.
- 56:59Speaker 3: They definitely you know, came up this summer and with
- 57:02Speaker 3: Superman being as good as it is, I think that's
- 57:05Speaker 3: really just great for superhero films in general to have
- 57:08Speaker 3: this great summer that they're having, where all three of
- 57:11Speaker 3: these films.
- 57:11Speaker 1: To me are four, like four out of five at
- 57:15Speaker 1: the lowest.
- 57:16Speaker 4: Ye all three of them absolutely, I would probably rate
- 57:19Speaker 4: the same, you know, I four and a half out
- 57:23Speaker 4: of five.
- 57:24Speaker 3: Yeah, oh for four for Fantoms four, I'm saying, like, yeah,
- 57:28Speaker 3: four and a half B plus A minus.
- 57:32Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I probably rate it that way.
- 57:34Speaker 1: And with the lattics, I'm going like a A, like
- 57:38Speaker 1: it's like for me, but I agree they did.
- 57:42Speaker 4: That's someone who's who I love. I love Galactis person.
- 57:45Speaker 2: I'm not, you know, the fiend like you, but I
- 57:47Speaker 2: love it and know they dialogue nothing on the table, and.
- 57:52Speaker 3: The way he speaks is just it's so perfect. It's
- 57:55Speaker 3: so poetic, it's so like epic, it's so much I am.
- 57:59Speaker 3: I'm a billions of year old force, my dude, Like,
- 58:03Speaker 3: I'm just have no time for your infemessal lives.
- 58:08Speaker 1: You know you are not here but for an instant
- 58:11Speaker 1: to me. Yeah, you know. Yeah.
- 58:13Speaker 2: They they left nothing on the table when it came
- 58:16Speaker 2: to this film, and I had high hopes, but this
- 58:20Speaker 2: completely exceeded my expectations.
- 58:22Speaker 4: So this is one of the rare times I.
- 58:24Speaker 2: Actually hope that they make a billion dollars with this
- 58:27Speaker 2: so that we can really see what more they can do.
- 58:30Speaker 4: Uh, they got to keep Matt Shackman on. Oh yeah,
- 58:34Speaker 4: they you got to let that man cook.
- 58:37Speaker 1: He got his trilogy is guaranteed. It has to be.
- 58:41Speaker 1: It has to be.
- 58:42Speaker 2: There is a both a mid credits end and credits scene,
- 58:46Speaker 2: So stay for that. You absolutely want to stay for that,
- 58:50Speaker 2: Yes you do. I can't say why, but you gotta.
- 58:55Speaker 3: If you are a com up with fan and you
- 58:57Speaker 3: know about the character of Franklin Richards, there are are
- 59:00Speaker 3: a lot of shout outs and just a lot of.
- 59:04Speaker 1: Things that.
- 59:06Speaker 3: From his lore, I will say that are given a
- 59:09Speaker 3: little bit of time, a little bit of shouts, you know, people,
- 59:12Speaker 3: a lot of themes, and I really enjoyed that. Franklin
- 59:15Speaker 3: is definitely one of my favorite characters in general, like
- 59:19Speaker 3: as a kid, as he grows up, he's just a
- 59:22Speaker 3: great little kid. So I love Franklin and I hope
- 59:24Speaker 3: to really get to see him. I don't know if
- 59:27Speaker 3: we'll ever get to see him join up with Power Pack,
- 59:29Speaker 3: the little superhero team of kids that he does join,
- 59:32Speaker 3: but that'd be really dope. If they ever did a
- 59:34Speaker 3: Power Pact series and put Franklin in there, I'd be
- 59:36Speaker 3: really hud for that.
- 59:37Speaker 4: They can do a lot with this.
- 59:40Speaker 2: The implications are vast, as we need to know for
- 59:43Speaker 2: anything where the multivers is involved. The implications are vast.
- 59:47Speaker 2: This film runs for two hours, ten minutes and so, which.
- 59:50Speaker 4: Is actually pretty tight.
- 59:52Speaker 2: Ye are what they did and the level of detail
- 59:56Speaker 2: that they were able to fit in here, that's actually
- 59:59Speaker 2: pretty good editing.
- 1:00:00Speaker 4: I'm coming to shock because I expected it to be
- 1:00:03Speaker 4: like three hours long.
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: Sods right, And that's that's with the that's the end
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: credit everything. So they did a phenomenal job. It's the
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: pacing on point. Just I don't think there's much more
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: I could say. Besides, this is a win. This is
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: a huge win for MCU. I hope it does very well.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: I absolutely recommend it.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: It's a huge win for fans of the Big Dog. Baby.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: We're back. It ain't no more Cloud. We back out here,
