- 0:03Speaker 1: Bole Cat Podcast special guests in here my guy Marlon Kraft, Sir,
- 0:07Speaker 1: he is back.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Good to see you man, you too, man, always good
- 0:10Speaker 2: to see you bro. Yes, the new album is out.
- 0:13Speaker 2: It's been crazy.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Shout out to Gabe and on the radar because it's
- 0:17Speaker 1: been interesting to see people treat you like you're like
- 0:20Speaker 1: a brand new artist that like just came out of
- 0:22Speaker 1: nowhere off that freestyle like yo, my got.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Low key like a young og. Now like you've been
- 0:27Speaker 2: putting it work. Donk you thank you. You're one of
- 0:29Speaker 2: the You're one of the few that know and that
- 0:31Speaker 2: have always been showing love. So it's it's it's a
- 0:34Speaker 2: cool dichotomy right now.
- 0:35Speaker 1: It's got to be kind of cool though, like because
- 0:37Speaker 1: also like a lot of the people who are in
- 0:39Speaker 1: that cipher were also very like just super like you know,
- 0:44Speaker 1: I would say they're kind of like the new class
- 0:47Speaker 1: of like the underground, you know, dope shit. And then
- 0:51Speaker 1: then you're in the mix and you've been doing your thing.
- 0:53Speaker 1: I mean, you've got numbers on the bro, you got
- 0:56Speaker 1: you know, you've been doing.
- 0:57Speaker 2: This, you know what I mean I mean that yeah, man,
- 0:59Speaker 2: it was it was actually really really cool because I
- 1:03Speaker 2: just realized, man, what a blessing it is to still
- 1:07Speaker 2: be up next this many years in and watching all
- 1:09Speaker 2: these people discover me, and then also watching my fans
- 1:12Speaker 2: be like you never heard of Marlin. Here's where you start.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I do da da da da da da, like you know,
- 1:16Speaker 2: and it's like that's really cool to see and just
- 1:18Speaker 2: getting put on like some of those guys I was
- 1:20Speaker 2: familiar with, but it was actually you could even feel
- 1:23Speaker 2: it in the cipher, like some of the guys been
- 1:26Speaker 2: like Yo, I've been waiting to wrap with you, or
- 1:27Speaker 2: like like yo, you're You're a legend, you know what
- 1:30Speaker 2: I mean. Like that was there was real respect. They've
- 1:32Speaker 2: been like watching my ship for a long time. And
- 1:34Speaker 2: I could tell some of the guys like never didn't
- 1:36Speaker 2: know me from a campaign and then you wrapped in
- 1:38Speaker 2: they were like oh shit, yeah yeah. So it was cool.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Like even within the group there was that dichotomy. It
- 1:43Speaker 2: was pretty much split down the middle. So I guess
- 1:45Speaker 2: that's kind of like the Marlin story. But it's cool.
- 1:49Speaker 2: We're at this point now where we're breaking through that
- 1:51Speaker 2: to like get that other fifty percent on board, you
- 1:54Speaker 2: know what I mean?
- 1:55Speaker 1: For you, man, you've always had a level of political
- 2:01Speaker 1: awareness and political commentary in your music. This feels like
- 2:06Speaker 1: a very very specifically motivated project. I mean the theme
- 2:10Speaker 1: throughout the album I think is very like it's kind
- 2:14Speaker 1: of a sign of the times ran And by that,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I mean like there's like the polymarket caushi culture and
- 2:20Speaker 1: like this weird like microwavable culture where people don't really
- 2:24Speaker 1: have beliefs and they put monetary gain over their own
- 2:28Speaker 1: moral compass. And what would you for anybody who hasn't
- 2:32Speaker 1: heard the album, what would you say is like the
- 2:34Speaker 1: main inspiration behind the Internet killed the neighborhood, Man.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I mean, you're starting to lay it out pretty well
- 2:40Speaker 2: right there. I mean, yeah, I just feel like, obviously
- 2:43Speaker 2: there's this more specific interpretation of these tenets of community
- 2:50Speaker 2: and mentorship and camaraderie and sort of a village of
- 2:54Speaker 2: people where you know, our humanity is rooted and looking
- 2:57Speaker 2: out for one another on some basic level, and I
- 3:01Speaker 2: see that just eroding and deteriorating based off of social
- 3:04Speaker 2: media and the Internet and all this stuff. But then
- 3:07Speaker 2: there's also kind of like what does that mean at
- 3:09Speaker 2: large in the world, Like everything that's going on, you know,
- 3:13Speaker 2: on a global scale, and the times that we're in
- 3:16Speaker 2: even with the as we're just kind of at the
- 3:19Speaker 2: dawn of even more and more technology, like on the
- 3:21Speaker 2: precipice of in the next ten years, like what does
- 3:24Speaker 2: that mean for our collective humanity and what do we
- 3:27Speaker 2: care about? And in the album it was sort of
- 3:29Speaker 2: like there's this personal story of me coming of age,
- 3:33Speaker 2: like kind of really growing into a man, working on
- 3:35Speaker 2: this project over the course five six years and finding
- 3:37Speaker 2: out things about myself and shit. But then in that context,
- 3:41Speaker 2: so like looking out the window, everything that's going on,
- 3:44Speaker 2: where do I sit in it? You know, it's a lot.
- 3:47Speaker 2: So it's a pretty dense. It's a pretty dense record.
- 3:49Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, do.
- 3:52Speaker 1: You feel like cause you're from House Kitchen, right yeah,
- 3:55Speaker 1: which is turned into like a pretty viby neighborhood. You know,
- 4:01Speaker 1: it's like it's food there, there's like there's a lot
- 4:04Speaker 1: of gay shit going on hill. Yeah.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah, it's kind of like a new gay epicenter because
- 4:08Speaker 2: like Chelsea, which is directly self it's your areas right
- 4:11Speaker 2: there too, right off, bro, And like so a lot
- 4:13Speaker 2: of the gay population moved up from Chelsea, so that's
- 4:17Speaker 2: like a big, you know thing that people know and
- 4:19Speaker 2: understand as a culture appicenter for the neighborhood now and
- 4:22Speaker 2: it's just like a lot of restaurants, a lot of
- 4:24Speaker 2: it's great food over there. Yeah.
- 4:26Speaker 1: How do you how would you kind of you know,
- 4:29Speaker 1: based on how you grew up in that area to now,
- 4:32Speaker 1: what is I guess the negative drawbacks you feel like
- 4:35Speaker 1: of how the neighborhood is kind of I would I
- 4:37Speaker 1: don't know if it's been gentrified, but how it's kind
- 4:39Speaker 1: of evolved.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, man, bro, people just getting displaced like crazy.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I mean, my friends that aren't either in government housing
- 4:48Speaker 2: or won some type of lottery apartment in one of
- 4:50Speaker 2: these new fancy buildings, like most of them been displaced.
- 4:53Speaker 2: They're all on Jersey now or they're being you know,
- 4:55Speaker 2: moved out of the place where they grew up. Because
- 4:57Speaker 2: it's just people coming in and driving up price. But
- 5:02Speaker 2: that's also like culturally, that's kind of the whole city, right, Yeah,
- 5:06Speaker 2: And that's really the whole city. Like it's just emblematic
- 5:09Speaker 2: of the whole city. The places in the city where
- 5:12Speaker 2: it's really hit the most. I mean, I think it's
- 5:15Speaker 2: just like all these people that have come in. You
- 5:17Speaker 2: always had people moving to new York. But they were
- 5:19Speaker 2: moving to New York to try more often to try
- 5:22Speaker 2: to contribute to the fabric of like culture or the art.
- 5:24Speaker 2: So they came with like a dream to do something
- 5:27Speaker 2: right now. They come to like do finance and hang
- 5:29Speaker 2: out and do like year four through eight of their
- 5:31Speaker 2: college experience and just run around and they want the
- 5:35Speaker 2: cultural draw of New York. But then they simultaneously kind
- 5:38Speaker 2: of like evaporate it with their presence and they're not
- 5:40Speaker 2: really so that that's kind of you know, what happens
- 5:43Speaker 2: a lot. And yeah, it's sad. I think people that
- 5:45Speaker 2: are from there really feel like very castaway, disregarded, disenfranchised.
- 5:53Speaker 2: And yeah, but I see that happened in cities across
- 5:57Speaker 2: the world. Honestly.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting too because if you think of like
- 6:01Speaker 1: I saw, there's like a serious amount of the higher
- 6:05Speaker 1: end real estate that is purchased in obviously that raises
- 6:09Speaker 1: the the overall cost of housing by people who don't
- 6:13Speaker 1: even like like who are barely even there, like a
- 6:15Speaker 1: lot of foreign nationals, a lot of billionaires, they just
- 6:18Speaker 1: got their pet house. Yeah, and it cranks up the
- 6:22Speaker 1: prices for everybody else, and like these motherfuckers aren't even around.
- 6:26Speaker 2: It's such an expensive place to be now, Like I mean,
- 6:28Speaker 2: it's just crazy. It's And then you could say that
- 6:33Speaker 2: these cultural tenets of like the New York I grew
- 6:36Speaker 2: up in, are in some ways more prominent than ever,
- 6:38Speaker 2: right because everything's like a New York meme on the internet.
- 6:41Speaker 2: Everything's like, you know, Tim's dis and chop cheese that
- 6:44Speaker 2: and like, you know, everything that's going on. But it's
- 6:50Speaker 2: it's just kind of been co opted and commodified and
- 6:53Speaker 2: it just feels very like in weird tastes sometimes. So yeah,
- 6:58Speaker 2: I don't know that's.
- 6:58Speaker 1: This was where how we feeling about Zorn. It's over
- 7:01Speaker 1: there showing motherfuckers how to govern.
- 7:03Speaker 2: It looks like I'm fucking with dude. Man, I'm rocking
- 7:05Speaker 2: with dude.
- 7:06Speaker 1: I'm just glad because you know, I'm a Bernie bruh.
- 7:09Speaker 1: You know, I've donated money to Bernie Sanders, I've volunteered
- 7:12Speaker 1: for him. But I've been extremely like disenfranchised by the
- 7:17Speaker 1: Democratic Party.
- 7:18Speaker 2: For a very long time.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Yeah, it's useless, to be honest, but to see democratic
- 7:24Speaker 1: socialism working in the biggest city in the world, I'm like, yo,
- 7:30Speaker 1: what do we do is look at He's balanced the
- 7:32Speaker 1: budget in like fucking six months.
- 7:34Speaker 2: It's mad inspiring and it's and it's it's also just
- 7:39Speaker 2: kind of showing these moderate democrat uh absolutists that don't
- 7:45Speaker 2: want to move along, you can't really claim anymore that
- 7:49Speaker 2: sort of bullshit pragmatism that they would claim, where it
- 7:52Speaker 2: was like, no, we can't get so crazy with these
- 7:54Speaker 2: type of policies and these type of issues. We want
- 7:56Speaker 2: to do that, but we can't because we have to
- 7:59Speaker 2: just be would actually just hold on to a seat
- 8:01Speaker 2: in power, and yeah, we have to you know, appease
- 8:04Speaker 2: our donors, right special interest that backed us to get here.
- 8:08Speaker 2: But he's kind of proving that, actually, this is what
- 8:13Speaker 2: the future if you guys hope, because you guys have just
- 8:14Speaker 2: been getting smacked around taking l's for the last however
- 8:17Speaker 2: many years, leading us to where we've been now with
- 8:19Speaker 2: no backbone, and so like, actually, this is where the
- 8:22Speaker 2: future is if you want to have any future as
- 8:25Speaker 2: a party, Like, this is is where it lies. So definitely, no,
- 8:28Speaker 2: it's cool and it's funny being kid from Sick because
- 8:30Speaker 2: like one of my best friends went to high school
- 8:32Speaker 2: with him, Like I know a bunch of people that
- 8:34Speaker 2: that no, dude, because it's like New York's small like that,
- 8:36Speaker 2: we're like the same age, so it's very it's personally
- 8:39Speaker 2: inspiring to me to see the type of like conviction
- 8:43Speaker 2: that he's moved with and the authenticity that he's retained,
- 8:46Speaker 2: and most importantly, just the things that he's doing.
- 8:48Speaker 1: You know, and a former MC I heard about that.
- 8:52Speaker 1: You didn't watch his music video.
- 8:54Speaker 2: I didn't watch it because I was I didn't want
- 8:58Speaker 2: to be colored either way that ship you to be
- 9:01Speaker 2: like yeah that shit. Yeah, I just and you know,
- 9:04Speaker 2: it's all in good fun, but I'm just more it's
- 9:06Speaker 2: not bad. Yeah, it's fine. I didn't I just didn't
- 9:10Speaker 2: peep it because I was so excited at the time.
- 9:12Speaker 1: He's in the Halal truck with no shirt on and
- 9:14Speaker 1: like the bib like making food and ship like rapping
- 9:18Speaker 1: about his grandma's It's not bad.
- 9:19Speaker 2: That's it's a dope visual. I'll have to check it out.
- 9:22Speaker 2: I have to check it out. I didn't peep it
- 9:23Speaker 2: because I don't know. I was just like sometimes I
- 9:25Speaker 2: just be like, I'm good when.
- 9:27Speaker 1: He re runs he should do it on the Radar
- 9:30Speaker 1: freestyle that would go crazy.
- 9:34Speaker 2: But see that this is where like you got to
- 9:36Speaker 2: draw the line somewhere because that's like you see my
- 9:39Speaker 2: eyes light up. We work where we work, and we
- 9:42Speaker 2: always think like the marketing of something or whatever. Uh,
- 9:45Speaker 2: and that would be like a brilliant idea and it
- 9:47Speaker 2: would go crazy. But then at some point it's like
- 9:50Speaker 2: this is how I feel about the Internet right now,
- 9:52Speaker 2: and everything's like, guys, we gotta be serious. At some point,
- 9:55Speaker 2: we gotta No one's gonna draw the lines for us,
- 9:58Speaker 2: like your role is viral is the ultimate dogma right now.
- 10:01Speaker 2: So it was a certain point it's like Trump just
- 10:03Speaker 2: used Drake's album cover as a meme. This is what
- 10:06Speaker 2: I'm saying. You become unseerious.
- 10:08Speaker 1: And we've also been desensitized to foolishness where it's like, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 1: at what point in time is like if you're a professional,
- 10:15Speaker 1: like be a professional.
- 10:17Speaker 2: I feel like that's my whole shit right now, to
- 10:19Speaker 2: be honest, and I feel like that maybe is why
- 10:21Speaker 2: things don't explode for me more like career wise, because
- 10:24Speaker 2: it's just like that's kind of the It's like I'm
- 10:26Speaker 2: a serious I'm the serious guy. Yeah, Like but actually
- 10:29Speaker 2: people that know me know I'm actually like funny and
- 10:31Speaker 2: I'll be fucking around people that are actually close to me,
- 10:34Speaker 2: and they're always telling me, like, you got to show
- 10:35Speaker 2: people more, you know what I mean, like this side
- 10:37Speaker 2: of yourself and whatever, blah blah, and I'm like, man,
- 10:40Speaker 2: I don't. I'm not thinking about what I got to
- 10:41Speaker 2: show people. I'm trying to like make art, be masterful
- 10:45Speaker 2: with what I do, keep growing at like, and I
- 10:47Speaker 2: feel like those are important things to represent in this
- 10:49Speaker 2: time because they're just like dying off. So I don't know,
- 10:53Speaker 2: I hate being that like guy though, Like that's like
- 10:56Speaker 2: I'm like the line in the sand guy. I'm like
- 10:58Speaker 2: reflecting right now with myself. All Right.
- 11:00Speaker 1: The podcast brought to you by odd Socks. That's right, baby, Listen, guys,

- 12:29Speaker 2: Thank me later.
- 12:30Speaker 1: On your album, you had a line about nihilism and
- 12:33Speaker 1: how the check is good if you're a nihilist. Essentially,
- 12:37Speaker 1: have you gotten to a point where you like, what
- 12:39Speaker 1: is like a specific example, just because you've been in
- 12:41Speaker 1: the music industry for so long where you had maybe
- 12:44Speaker 1: the opportunity to maybe make a financially lucrative move or decision,
- 12:50Speaker 1: but it didn't sit well with your moral compass.
- 12:54Speaker 2: Oh man, it's hard to think off the top of
- 12:57Speaker 2: something really specific, because I just feel like every day
- 12:59Speaker 2: I wake up and think about shit that could go viral,
- 13:05Speaker 2: Like a content idea that I feel like is a
- 13:07Speaker 2: little corny but I know it would go viral, or
- 13:10Speaker 2: just thinking about what my compass is when I'm creating,
- 13:13Speaker 2: Am I thinking about how to go viral? Or am
- 13:15Speaker 2: I thinking listening to what's in my soul and what
- 13:18Speaker 2: I'm trying to create and what I think it's important
- 13:20Speaker 2: to say. And living like that all the time is
- 13:23Speaker 2: really exhausting, And that's I guess where like it's hard
- 13:28Speaker 2: to stay in that, especially when there's this imperative to
- 13:31Speaker 2: like reach new audiences like whatever. So constantly I'm like, man,
- 13:37Speaker 2: I could do this, I could try, like you know,
- 13:39Speaker 2: like I'm a really good songwriter, Like I could do sessions.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Yeah, that shoulders record on your album is thank you Man,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Thank you Man.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I wrote that the last time, the last time I
- 13:49Speaker 2: was here and I saw you like the day before.
- 13:52Speaker 2: But I could like be writing songs for other people
- 13:54Speaker 2: and like make my agenda as an artist more into
- 13:58Speaker 2: like a product manufacturing where I'm like trying to you know,
- 14:01Speaker 2: But it's just not how I view are And I'm
- 14:04Speaker 2: not necessarily judging anybody else that does that. There's it's
- 14:06Speaker 2: just it's just not me. Like, that's just not how
- 14:08Speaker 2: I roll. So I'm constantly like living in that. And yeah,
- 14:14Speaker 2: it's hard because I gotta I gotta make bread and
- 14:16Speaker 2: I gotta. But sometimes I have this like greater belief
- 14:20Speaker 2: that if I stay true to what it is that
- 14:22Speaker 2: I'm about, that I'll be rewarded better in the long
- 14:24Speaker 2: run then down the line. Yeah, that's what I tell myself.
- 14:28Speaker 1: I mean, look, I think sometimes I that that can
- 14:34Speaker 1: I see people get rewarded like all the time. It
- 14:36Speaker 1: kind of just stay kind of ten toes down. But
- 14:38Speaker 1: at the same time, it's like like you said, it's
- 14:39Speaker 1: like I feel like you gotta find a balance because a.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Guy like you know who prof is, Yeah, I've heard
- 14:43Speaker 2: of Prof. He's dope.
- 14:44Speaker 1: He's from Minneapolis, underground rapper forever, and you just start
- 14:47Speaker 1: he's like a funny dude. Yeah, and he just started
- 14:49Speaker 1: kind of like leaning into his funniness to get people
- 14:52Speaker 1: to watch him rap. Yeah, and it like kind of
- 14:55Speaker 1: works because it's but it's his personality. Like if you
- 14:58Speaker 1: know Prof, you kind of know he's Like, I feel
- 15:00Speaker 1: like you're You're kind of perceived by your fans to
- 15:03Speaker 1: be a serious person. So if you started to kind
- 15:05Speaker 1: of do more comedically angled stuff, people be like, what
- 15:08Speaker 1: is Marlon doing? This isn't Marlon You like your your
- 15:10Speaker 1: core fans to be that, what the fuck are you doing?
- 15:12Speaker 2: Yeah? I you know, like I don't know what that
- 15:19Speaker 2: looks like for me, and I don't know. I'm not
- 15:21Speaker 2: super familiar with Prop. So he's dope. He's done speaking
- 15:24Speaker 2: his things super but I think like with me, it's
- 15:26Speaker 2: just like I ain't trying to trick people. That's what's
- 15:30Speaker 2: so hard about this day and age. You know, It's
- 15:32Speaker 2: like I'm not I'm not trying to trick motherfuckers into
- 15:34Speaker 2: like listening to my shit. I'm not trying to bamboozle
- 15:37Speaker 2: you into like I'm so jealous of my favorite artists
- 15:41Speaker 2: that every time they post anything, like they don't got
- 15:44Speaker 2: to think about Kendrick Lamar or Asap Rock, you have
- 15:46Speaker 2: to think about the algorithm. They just make something that
- 15:49Speaker 2: they think is incredibly dope, and whatever they post, everyone's
- 15:51Speaker 2: like it's an event, right, and like the imperative to
- 15:55Speaker 2: figure out I mean, they don't even show your stuff
- 16:00Speaker 2: to your own fans, So you gotta figure out a
- 16:02Speaker 2: way that you could like hook people in and you
- 16:04Speaker 2: can what I make, So you got one of those groups.
- 16:05Speaker 2: It's like a community on Instagram where you like, yeah,
- 16:09Speaker 2: you could be in there. And I got I have
- 16:12Speaker 2: this community called the Center of like people that subscribe
- 16:14Speaker 2: to me, and we're gonna move it to Patreon shortly
- 16:16Speaker 2: and do the Patreon thing because I think, like, for me,
- 16:19Speaker 2: I'm trying to aggregate the people that fuck with me
- 16:22Speaker 2: as much as possible outside of the algorithm, so I
- 16:25Speaker 2: can have a direct line on them. And it's like, Yo,
- 16:28Speaker 2: here's like the stuff that's actually dope, here's the art,
- 16:31Speaker 2: here's the work, And I'm down to be more abundant,
- 16:34Speaker 2: like I'm down to if I know I'm serving people
- 16:36Speaker 2: that really like appreciate it and will take from it.
- 16:39Speaker 2: I'm down to be like, oh cool, I'll do one
- 16:41Speaker 2: freestyle a month for y'all. I'll do something like that,
- 16:43Speaker 2: But I'm not finna fucking drop four videos a week
- 16:46Speaker 2: maybe in my twenties, like you know, Like I mean,
- 16:49Speaker 2: I started with the craft styles, bro, Like that's how
- 16:51Speaker 2: I got on, and so back then it was like
- 16:54Speaker 2: once a month or whatever. But I kind of like,
- 16:56Speaker 2: I kind of low key was a big part of
- 16:59Speaker 2: this DIY era thing stuck in the beginning. And they
- 17:06Speaker 2: told me then like it was this whole stigma where
- 17:09Speaker 2: we had to get past it where it was like, yeah,
- 17:11Speaker 2: but you're not a real artist, you know what I mean,
- 17:12Speaker 2: Because you're just DIY in your room on your phone
- 17:14Speaker 2: and setting this up so you might have fans, Yeah,
- 17:16Speaker 2: you'd have people call you like a YouTube brat. That
- 17:19Speaker 2: was a thing. And I didn't double down on any
- 17:21Speaker 2: of that stuff then any like, because I was so
- 17:23Speaker 2: busy trying to like, no, I want people to take
- 17:25Speaker 2: my art seriously. I don't want to be seen as
- 17:27Speaker 2: like a whatever. And now everybody's a YouTube rapper, bro,
- 17:30Speaker 2: everyone's DIY. It's the world, man. You make something high
- 17:33Speaker 2: production value. It won't even no one will even see it.
- 17:36Speaker 2: But you do it on your phone. You're lit. No,
- 17:38Speaker 2: that's true.
- 17:38Speaker 1: It's like the higher like if you have a Sony
- 17:42Speaker 1: red camera and you spend this time, you know, putting
- 17:45Speaker 1: all this effort individuals.
- 17:48Speaker 2: And someone shoots some shit on their phone. That's what
- 17:50Speaker 2: I'm saying, bro, And that's the shit that I don't
- 17:53Speaker 2: know what it is.
- 17:53Speaker 1: We're like I always I hear people saying all the time,
- 17:56Speaker 1: like the ROI on music video these days, it's like,
- 18:01Speaker 1: you'd rather take that money and shoot like thirty shorts
- 18:04Speaker 1: or reels or some shit to promote your song.
- 18:06Speaker 2: But we gotta exactly but this is the battle that
- 18:09Speaker 2: you we talked about with the question you asked me before,
- 18:12Speaker 2: is like I run my whole shit and I see
- 18:15Speaker 2: the game like everybody else, So I know what would
- 18:17Speaker 2: be the most economically efficient and what would be the
- 18:20Speaker 2: quote unquote like smartest. You know what I'm saying, but
- 18:23Speaker 2: what I but I got to sit there and think
- 18:25Speaker 2: about how to distribute my funds and what I really
- 18:28Speaker 2: want to make and what I want people to feel
- 18:30Speaker 2: and whatever, and then balance that with like, okay, about
- 18:33Speaker 2: how many, you know, things do we need to have?
- 18:36Speaker 2: So that's that's the trying, because it would be so
- 18:38Speaker 2: much easier. My goal is just get bigger anyway anyhow.
- 18:42Speaker 2: I feel like that's how stuff is designed in media
- 18:45Speaker 2: right now and in most of just American capitalism is
- 18:49Speaker 2: get bigger, get more by any means necessary, don't evaluate
- 18:54Speaker 2: like what it's doing to the integrity of anything. And
- 18:58Speaker 2: if that was my agenda, we be out of here, cav,
- 19:01Speaker 2: we'd be out of here. It just feels like that
- 19:03Speaker 2: would be so so much easier, Like I could get it.
- 19:06Speaker 2: I could wrap five times a week on it. This
- 19:08Speaker 2: is what I do, right, you know, But it's just
- 19:11Speaker 2: I just don't feel connected to that, Like, you know,
- 19:15Speaker 2: how are you feeling.
- 19:17Speaker 1: I haven't been this excited for playoffs since the Sun's
- 19:22Speaker 1: are in the finals. I'm a Suns fan, but we
- 19:24Speaker 1: got the Calves in the Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals.
- 19:27Speaker 1: It just feels real like nineteen ninety five ish, like on,
- 19:31Speaker 1: even though the Calves back then were that great, but
- 19:33Speaker 1: these are, like, you know, it's kind of crazy to
- 19:35Speaker 1: see the Nicks in the Eastern Conference Finals. I'm gonna
- 19:38Speaker 1: give all credit to WW wrestler Dan Housen, who uncursed
- 19:40Speaker 1: you guys.
- 19:42Speaker 2: But uh, how are you feeling? Man?
- 19:43Speaker 1: As a Knicks fan, You've been banging the set forever, man,
- 19:45Speaker 1: so I can only imagine it's like, finally.
- 19:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I've banged the set forever, and I'm I'm feeling
- 19:51Speaker 2: really good. The only reason I'm not wearing a Nex
- 19:54Speaker 2: jersey it's literally in the car. But I just like,
- 19:56Speaker 2: I've been doing all these interviews and I keep wearing
- 19:58Speaker 2: Knicks gear because it's what I and I'm just like, yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 2: I can't be in the next thing in every single one,
- 20:03Speaker 2: So I literally but I'm I'm, I'm here. I'm hyped.
- 20:07Speaker 2: It feels good because I mean, I'm almost getting that
- 20:11Speaker 2: to that point of like cautious optimism right now because
- 20:14Speaker 2: we're rested. We look like we've really figured something out
- 20:17Speaker 2: with you know, taking Cat and putting him on the
- 20:20Speaker 2: nail and letting him operate from there. Offensively. He's back
- 20:24Speaker 2: playing really good defense now the defense is locked in.
- 20:27Speaker 2: If OG's hamstring holds up, I just feel good about
- 20:31Speaker 2: us against anybody. I just feel like the West, those
- 20:35Speaker 2: two teams, they're tough. No, did you watch the game
- 20:38Speaker 2: last night? I was on the plane. It was going
- 20:39Speaker 2: in and out. I was watching the Monstars play.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Dude, yeah, Victor Woman Yan is like a fucking I
- 20:45Speaker 1: feel like we're cooked for the NBA is cooked for
- 20:47Speaker 1: the next eight years because it's going to be the
- 20:49Speaker 1: Spurs and the Thunder.
- 20:50Speaker 2: These motherfuckers are all twelve years old. That's how the
- 20:52Speaker 2: way I felt watching it was like, Yo, the thought
- 20:54Speaker 2: I actually had, Bros. I was like, we better get
- 20:57Speaker 2: this shit. Dylan Harper's a rookie. I get this shoot
- 21:00Speaker 2: because because after that, like Wemby, Wemby is gonna be
- 21:04Speaker 2: like as long unless it's like a couple of years
- 21:06Speaker 2: he gets.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I mean, it's crazy, bro, No, it's wild. And then
- 21:10Speaker 1: the Thunder have all those picks still pressed. These Jesus
- 21:13Speaker 1: like it's like every time they hit the apron, they'll
- 21:16Speaker 1: just trade. All right, lou Dort, your time to go.
- 21:18Speaker 1: We're just gonna draft someone else. It's gonna be.
- 21:21Speaker 2: It's we don't match up terrible with the Thunder though,
- 21:24Speaker 2: like I mean, sorry with the with the Spurs, like
- 21:27Speaker 2: they're their matches. They have no one for Wemby. I
- 21:29Speaker 2: mean like it's it's but we I mean, I know
- 21:32Speaker 2: regular season doesn't mean ship. But we matched up well
- 21:35Speaker 2: with the Spurs in the regular season when we played
- 21:36Speaker 2: who was gardening Mitch? You have Mitch, but he's but
- 21:40Speaker 2: you can't keep him in the fourth quarter. You have
- 21:42Speaker 2: Mitch but but but Og is one of those guys
- 21:45Speaker 2: that can give trouble to like do what they're trying
- 21:47Speaker 2: to do with Caruso. But actually that's what I'm saying.
- 21:51Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, he's still put up forty two points. Yeah,
- 21:53Speaker 2: we have we have we have uh, Mitch, we have
- 21:56Speaker 2: O g and hold his own and then if if
- 22:00Speaker 2: Kat is playing defensive way he's been playing the last
- 22:02Speaker 2: few weeks, I mean, I worry about foul trouble. I
- 22:05Speaker 2: worry about that with the Cavs, with their two big guys.
- 22:07Speaker 2: You know, I'm always worried about foul trouble. Do you
- 22:10Speaker 2: feel like because.
- 22:13Speaker 1: You were I don't know how much of a fan
- 22:15Speaker 1: you were of Tibbs, but I feel like it was
- 22:18Speaker 1: kind of a you know, it probably deserved it to stay.
- 22:22Speaker 1: But I mean, you guys are in the Eastern Conference finals,
- 22:24Speaker 1: so something obviously Mike Brown is you know, also a
- 22:29Speaker 1: well traveled guy.
- 22:30Speaker 2: My opinion, well, it's funny. It's like I've watched a
- 22:33Speaker 2: lot of times this year and I'll be like, damn, TIBs,
- 22:35Speaker 2: all you had to do was put Landry Shaman in
- 22:37Speaker 2: the rotation and you'd be here. Like I think he
- 22:40Speaker 2: did it. I think everyone was pretty pleased with him.
- 22:42Speaker 2: But he just really wouldn't budge on the rotation issue
- 22:46Speaker 2: of like playing the same six guys seven guys so.
- 22:48Speaker 1: Much like fucking thirty six minutes, forty minutes forever.
- 22:52Speaker 2: And we'll see what happens obviously this year. But I
- 22:54Speaker 2: will say, we're in the conference finals and we're rested,
- 22:57Speaker 2: and we've been resting for a week. When we got
- 22:59Speaker 2: to the conference finals last year, we were destroyed. So
- 23:03Speaker 2: I mean that to me, that was this It was
- 23:05Speaker 2: like a single issue thing. But I got love for
- 23:08Speaker 2: TIBs and what he did for us. I think he's
- 23:10Speaker 2: a great coach, but it was like he was dogmatic
- 23:12Speaker 2: about that one thing.
- 23:13Speaker 1: So yeah, very I feel like he's a polarizing guy
- 23:15Speaker 1: because you see some players be like like I remember
- 23:18Speaker 1: when Michael Bridges complained yea, and I was like that guy,
- 23:20Speaker 1: if iron Man's.
- 23:21Speaker 2: Complaining about how much he has to play, I never
- 23:23Speaker 2: missed the game, you know what I mean. So I
- 23:25Speaker 2: don't know. It's hard to say. I mean, I think
- 23:27Speaker 2: he's a great coach, but I also think it worked out. Yeah, yeah,
- 23:32Speaker 2: you know we're gonna well, we're gonna sae.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Mark Jackson was a great coach, and then Steve Kirk
- 23:36Speaker 1: came in, you know what I mean. So it's like
- 23:39Speaker 1: that's I'm hoping that's the trajectory that we're on. Man,
- 23:41Speaker 1: I'm getting nervous now, you're making me nervous, but I'm
- 23:44Speaker 1: I'm I'm excited.
- 23:45Speaker 2: I love the next bro. And also like I I'm
- 23:49Speaker 2: talking next with you because because we always talked basketball
- 23:51Speaker 2: and whatever. But it's like I'm not even gonna talk
- 23:54Speaker 2: next with certin people more because people are so dogmatic,
- 23:57Speaker 2: Like I've had too many bad experiences where like, you know,
- 24:02Speaker 2: I bleed this shit right it means it matters like
- 24:05Speaker 2: so much to me, and like the internet be I
- 24:08Speaker 2: don't want to be fodder for like people to talk
- 24:10Speaker 2: about the Knicks and my fan be testing me and
- 24:13Speaker 2: all this bullshit. It's like, bro, I really do this,
- 24:15Speaker 2: Like I don't. I don't want to hear about it.
- 24:17Speaker 2: So I'm like even lately, I'm like people like, let's
- 24:20Speaker 2: talk about the Knicks.
- 24:21Speaker 1: I'm like, are you gonna spend your own hard earned
- 24:24Speaker 1: dollars to go to a finals game if they make it?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Well, first of all, you know what's fucked up. One
- 24:29Speaker 2: of my best friends hit me this morning. He called
- 24:30Speaker 2: me twice and then he hit me like what are
- 24:32Speaker 2: you doing tonight? What's up? Where are we at? And
- 24:34Speaker 2: I call him back.
- 24:35Speaker 1: He's like, bro, I got Game one tickets, I got
- 24:37Speaker 1: the suite from my job.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Let's go. We're going to the game. I'm like, bro,
- 24:41Speaker 2: I'm in fucking la. Now you wouldn't you want to
- 24:44Speaker 2: go to the finals? But I the finals. I think
- 24:47Speaker 2: my dad was like talking about it and he was like,
- 24:49Speaker 2: I'm already like seeing what the deal is. I'm thinking
- 24:52Speaker 2: about it. I think, especially if it was me and
- 24:54Speaker 2: my dad, you gotta stay because my dad, you know,
- 24:57Speaker 2: like he's been a fan since sixty nine, in seventy
- 25:00Speaker 2: seventy two. So last night they were like, he's indoctrinated
- 25:03Speaker 2: me into this, and it's always been something that we've
- 25:06Speaker 2: shared that's really special, you know, to us in our relationship.
- 25:09Speaker 2: So for us to go like if you know, but
- 25:12Speaker 2: I you know, I'm trying to get my money back
- 25:14Speaker 2: off of this album. You know what I'm saying. I
- 25:16Speaker 2: put a lot into it. I don't have the worst
- 25:17Speaker 2: thing that could ever happen.
- 25:19Speaker 1: I spent good money to see the Suns in the
- 25:21Speaker 1: finals because I was like, I gotta go to one
- 25:24Speaker 1: of these games.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and we got fucking smoked.
- 25:27Speaker 1: And I was like, if there's the worst the worst
- 25:29Speaker 1: feeling in the world is paying good money to go
- 25:31Speaker 1: watch your team and they get fucking molly wopped, or
- 25:34Speaker 1: even if they lose a close one, it just it
- 25:37Speaker 1: just suck.
- 25:38Speaker 2: That's how I always feel. And it's so fun to
- 25:40Speaker 2: like watch at home or watch with people that I'm
- 25:42Speaker 2: always like, but I want to fill that energy one
- 25:45Speaker 2: time for sure. It's it's it's it is, It's there.
- 25:48Speaker 2: But if if you spend im, you spend like a
- 25:50Speaker 2: thousand dollars and then they get clapped by.
- 25:55Speaker 1: People start losing by the third quarter or some shit,
- 25:56Speaker 1: You're like, why what the fuck?
- 25:58Speaker 2: You know you write down, but I'm down. I gotta
- 26:01Speaker 2: see what the money looking like. But we'll see.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you're You're like, are you a football fan too?
- 26:09Speaker 1: Are you strictly basketball? Like, what's your fandom with other sports?
- 26:13Speaker 1: Is it just Knicks or I'm a Jets fan.
- 26:15Speaker 2: But I'll be I'll be totally honest with you, like
- 26:19Speaker 2: being a Knicks fan took all my emotional capacity.
- 26:23Speaker 1: As I said, you ever get to the point because
- 26:24Speaker 1: I'm an Arizona sports fan. So I am a Cardinal
- 26:27Speaker 1: fan and a Suns fan. Yeah, and so I don't
- 26:29Speaker 1: know how many offseasons me and my best friends have
- 26:32Speaker 1: the conversation like why do we do this?
- 26:34Speaker 2: We don't owe the team. This ship will suck the
- 26:37Speaker 2: life out of me for like a week.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm so emotionally invested in some ship that I
- 26:42Speaker 1: can't even fucking control.
- 26:43Speaker 2: And every year I'm like, what should stop watching? That's
- 26:47Speaker 2: how yo. There was a lot of years like that
- 26:49Speaker 2: with the Knicks, you know, like that's how you know,
- 26:51Speaker 2: But that's how I am with the Jets. I'll be honest, like,
- 26:54Speaker 2: I don't really because I just don't. I'm busy guy, bro,
- 26:57Speaker 2: And then the Knicks game are enough. I'm Aankee fan
- 27:00Speaker 2: every year though, I'm like, I'm gonna really tap in
- 27:02Speaker 2: with the Yankees this year, and then I'm always just
- 27:04Speaker 2: like super busy. But I grew up when they were
- 27:07Speaker 2: winning all those chips in the nineties, in the last nineties,
- 27:10Speaker 2: so you know, I'm a Yankee, I'm I'm Nick's Yankees Jets.
- 27:15Speaker 2: But yeah, if I'm being honest, I'm really just tapped
- 27:18Speaker 2: in with the Knicks.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Have you thought about doing a home court Advantage three
- 27:22Speaker 1: and what would be the basketball flip for the cover
- 27:25Speaker 1: because you had the Slam magazine, Yeah, the NBA Street Yeah.
- 27:29Speaker 2: I don't know. I thought I've you know, to be honest,
- 27:34Speaker 2: those were so fun. But I also think part of
- 27:37Speaker 2: what this album was for me is me. You know.
- 27:40Speaker 2: I did all those side projects, experimenting with these different
- 27:43Speaker 2: parts of my sound and who I am, and I
- 27:46Speaker 2: feel like on this project it represents kind of me
- 27:49Speaker 2: stepping into my own sonically and who I am and graduation.
- 27:53Speaker 2: It's a graduation and I'm like, Yo, this is kind
- 27:56Speaker 2: of where I am now. I feel grown up, and
- 27:58Speaker 2: I feel like I just want to keep pushing myself
- 28:00Speaker 2: musically and creatively further and further. So I don't know
- 28:03Speaker 2: that it doesn't mean I'm never gonna like bar out
- 28:06Speaker 2: on some straight rap shit.
- 28:08Speaker 1: No, I mean I feel like the song making on
- 28:10Speaker 1: the New album is the best you've ever had it
- 28:12Speaker 1: like dialed in melodically, You're dialed in on a new level.
- 28:16Speaker 2: Like, thank you man, the production is crazy.
- 28:19Speaker 1: Shout out to Raffi Law Group our family. Yes, it's

- 29:59Speaker 2: or WHATEVER i don't. PLAY i don't like you very.
- 30:02Speaker 2: Much Like, YEAH i was like old School capitol p
- 30:06Speaker 2: producer on a lot of stuff and almost all of.
- 30:08Speaker 2: It BUT i give so much credit to first of,
- 30:11Speaker 2: All Dan, edinburgh my big, homie who's playing bass almost the,
- 30:14Speaker 2: records but also produce like eight of them and really
- 30:17Speaker 2: help me like mold everything. Sonically he's an incredible. Musician
- 30:21Speaker 2: my big Homie sly Fifth av who's incredible horn. Player
- 30:25Speaker 2: he used to play With prince and all this crazy,
- 30:26Speaker 2: shit and he did all the horn, arrangements the flute.
- 30:30Speaker 2: Arrangements so you, KNOW i had some incredible people THAT
- 30:33Speaker 2: i worked with on this, project and a ton of,
- 30:36Speaker 2: musicians BUT i was very hands on with. Everything, yeah
- 30:40Speaker 2: hours and hours and. Hours AND i realized THAT i
- 30:42Speaker 2: have to say that, Now LIKE i used to be more, like,
- 30:46Speaker 2: hey if it's got The marlocraft name on, IT i
- 30:48Speaker 2: really want everyone else to just shine and the produce.
- 30:50Speaker 2: Whatever BUT i started to get older and realized that
- 30:53Speaker 2: people would sometimes ask me questions that would show like
- 30:57Speaker 2: they would ask me things, like, oh do you do
- 30:59Speaker 2: the track listing? Yourself like do you pick? Where And
- 31:01Speaker 2: i'm like the track list, Shit i'm, like, Bro i'm
- 31:04Speaker 2: like secrets in the whole Time i'm in every, Session
- 31:06Speaker 2: i'm really like Con i'm like, so and then your
- 31:08Speaker 2: artist doesn't do, that by the, WAY i don't.
- 31:10Speaker 1: KNOW i want to know the rapper that just you,
- 31:13Speaker 1: know the label, says, hey by the, way here's the
- 31:15Speaker 1: order of your.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Song, YEAH i don't, know BUT i realized. Too. Man
- 31:19Speaker 2: it's Like i'm starting to get. Older you talked about
- 31:21Speaker 2: this woman WHEN i came. In You you're wearing so many,
- 31:23Speaker 2: hats doing so much, shit AND i, realized, like, hey, man,
- 31:26Speaker 2: like hopefully you know your career in this thing is.
- 31:28Speaker 2: LONG i might want to do some of these things
- 31:30Speaker 2: for other people at some, point like executive producing someone else's.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Ship i'll be, Here So i'm, LIKE i got to
- 31:35Speaker 2: give myself my credits WHEN i when they're, deserved so
- 31:38Speaker 2: THAT i can show what my resume really.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Is you, know if you could executive produce another MC's
- 31:44Speaker 1: album within, reason obviously you obviously Say JAY z or.
- 31:48Speaker 1: OBVIOUSLY i, Mean i'm not to say that that's not
- 31:49Speaker 1: within reason for, you but just like you, know at
- 31:51Speaker 1: this very, moment that's a realistic.
- 31:53Speaker 2: Goal who you think would be dope you could just
- 31:55Speaker 2: just just lock in. With it would be somebody really,
- 32:03Speaker 2: Young like it would be something THAT i really felt
- 32:05Speaker 2: LIKE i could, contribute because you, Know i'm really tapped
- 32:08Speaker 2: in with a lot of the young MC's In New.
- 32:11Speaker 2: York and especially for this live band Residency i've been
- 32:14Speaker 2: doing WHERE i bring a lot of them out to
- 32:16Speaker 2: spit as guests and everything like, that and So i'm you,
- 32:19Speaker 2: know getting more tapped in AND i try to be
- 32:21Speaker 2: a mentor WHERE i can and just be. Around But
- 32:24Speaker 2: i'd be seeing shit And i'm, like, ah, man LIKE
- 32:28Speaker 2: i could hear them on. THIS i could if, like
- 32:30Speaker 2: IF i could executive produce an, ALBUM i THINK i
- 32:32Speaker 2: could get the music to a higher. Level i'm not
- 32:35Speaker 2: exactly sure like who, specifically BUT i would want to
- 32:38Speaker 2: do it in a way that gives back THAT i
- 32:40Speaker 2: could really help somebody level up rather than, like obviously
- 32:43Speaker 2: it would be fun for me to do for Like
- 32:46Speaker 2: jay Or knives Or kendrick or, somebody but they don't
- 32:49Speaker 2: really need. Me i'd rather contribute to somebody coming.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Up The Analog man record is special. Joint obviously it
- 32:56Speaker 1: was the lead the lead single for the, album right,
- 32:59Speaker 1: YEAH i think we just showed first and Then Analog
- 33:01Speaker 1: Analog man record is, Incredible thank you.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Man how do you get The havoc? Beat? Like what
- 33:06Speaker 2: is how does? That do you pick from a? Pack do? You? Guys?
- 33:08Speaker 1: Like what is he does he pull up you guys
- 33:10Speaker 1: work on it, Together, like what's what's the process like?
- 33:13Speaker 2: Working we Have so he's only ever sent me two.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Beats we have two, Songs Hans zimmer and Analog. Man
- 33:21Speaker 2: for Analog, MAN i had been connected WITH Methi, man
- 33:26Speaker 2: so we were gonna try to do the record that
- 33:27Speaker 2: we ended up, doing The Muggsy bogues, record BUT i
- 33:30Speaker 2: had Hit he was, like let's do. SOMETHING i want
- 33:33Speaker 2: to do, something And i'm like, Cool SO i hit
- 33:34Speaker 2: have AND i was, like, yo me And meth want
- 33:36Speaker 2: to do. Something could you cook up for us? Whatever
- 33:39Speaker 2: and he was like, Bad i'm gonna cook. Up so
- 33:41Speaker 2: he sent me that beat the next day and that
- 33:45Speaker 2: was like this is like twenty three maybe or twenty
- 33:48Speaker 2: four and then AND i was, like, yo this is.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Crazy and THEN i started writing to. It and then
- 33:55Speaker 2: the next day he hit me up and was, Like,
- 33:57Speaker 2: yo did you send it To meth? Yet AND i
- 33:59Speaker 2: was like, nah and he was LIKE i think you.
- 34:01Speaker 2: SHOULD i think you should carry that one, Yourself LIKE
- 34:03Speaker 2: i think you should just keep that record for. Yourself
- 34:06Speaker 2: so that's what happened with, that and it was just
- 34:08Speaker 2: the loop and Then i've then we added all the
- 34:12Speaker 2: instrumentation all the other ship and he always like in
- 34:14Speaker 2: both of those, instances he sent me the stems and,
- 34:16Speaker 2: like let me do my, thing which is really. Cool so,
- 34:20Speaker 2: yeah it just but it's definitely not a pack like
- 34:22Speaker 2: it's very like intentional in one. Offee i've met him
- 34:25Speaker 2: in person only one, time but, yeah so that's. Fire
- 34:31Speaker 2: what what for?
- 34:32Speaker 1: You do you feel like there's there's been a point
- 34:37Speaker 1: in the last five or six years where you've just
- 34:39Speaker 1: kind of felt like society has kind of broken, Itself
- 34:43Speaker 1: like you had that line about like people like you
- 34:46Speaker 1: could be on the rocket ship With elon and you're, good, like,
- 34:49Speaker 1: YEAH i feel LIKE i don't know where it. HAPPENED
- 34:51Speaker 1: i don't know if it was DURING, COVID i don't
- 34:53Speaker 1: know if it was. Before it just feels like there's
- 34:55Speaker 1: like a certain point in time where just we've we've
- 35:00Speaker 1: kind of broken as a. Society AND i don't know
- 35:03Speaker 1: if it's THE ai, shit, yea you, know there's so
- 35:06Speaker 1: much things you could point. To is there anything for
- 35:08Speaker 1: you personally where you were just, like, yeah what the
- 35:10Speaker 1: fuck is going on right?
- 35:11Speaker 2: NOW i feel that, Way LIKE i resonate with that really.
- 35:15Speaker 2: DEEPLY i feel an immense loneliness and, solitude and solitude
- 35:21Speaker 2: in my complete disconnection principally from where we're headed as
- 35:30Speaker 2: a society and the shit that we seem to. Value
- 35:33Speaker 2: and the hardest part about it, IS i think a
- 35:36Speaker 2: lot of. People that's not in judgment of a lot of,
- 35:39Speaker 2: people BECAUSE i think a lot of people are adhering
- 35:41Speaker 2: to some shit that's not truly who they are or
- 35:43Speaker 2: even who they feel they, are because we're just, adapting,
- 35:46Speaker 2: yeah like they have, to you, Know, Yeah AND i
- 35:48Speaker 2: feel that way about, myself even LIKE i feel a
- 35:50Speaker 2: lot of shame in HOW i watch myself engage with
- 35:54Speaker 2: social media and stuff like that While i'm levying these
- 35:57Speaker 2: critiques against it and just operating in a way THAT
- 36:01Speaker 2: i feel like is beneath the standard THAT i want for.
- 36:04Speaker 2: Myself but it's just so hard with all these addictive
- 36:07Speaker 2: things going, on and then when you stop for a
- 36:09Speaker 2: moment to be, present to not fall into the pit of.
- 36:11Speaker 2: Despair you think you want to be an educated, person
- 36:14Speaker 2: you want to be up on, Things it's, like all,
- 36:15Speaker 2: right we'll try reading the paper every day and see
- 36:17Speaker 2: how that does for your. Psyche because what's going on
- 36:20Speaker 2: is in the world it's just. Brutal BUT i think
- 36:23Speaker 2: that the things that we seem to value there seems
- 36:26Speaker 2: you talk about a breaking.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Point there seems to be this allegiance to just bigness
- 36:34Speaker 1: without the value that that bigness, espouses like.
- 36:38Speaker 2: Fame and solubility or like making, money just validate, everything
- 36:46Speaker 2: it seems to me in everybody's, Eyes and you can't
- 36:48Speaker 2: even have a conversation now where in so many rooms
- 36:53Speaker 2: and places THAT i want to be where you're talking about, like,
- 36:56Speaker 2: yeah but that's not dope because the shit that it.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Stands for is fucked, up or because the artistic integrity
- 37:03Speaker 1: of it isn't up to a, standard or because it's
- 37:06Speaker 1: just clearly a.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Grift you. Know it's like grift has become so normalized
- 37:10Speaker 2: because our presidents the ultimate, grifter the.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Biggest SO i feel, hustler. CAN'T i, mean, look he's
- 37:16Speaker 1: like an old school LIKE i feel, Like i'm.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Sure in the seventies and eighties there was just a
- 37:22Speaker 2: whole city full of. Motherfuckers it was just hitting lits
- 37:24Speaker 2: To New york and he just did. It he's such
- 37:26Speaker 2: an archetype of a certain of exactly what you just.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Said everyone he read out of The bible the other
- 37:31Speaker 1: day and like could barely get through it because he's
- 37:33Speaker 1: not A, christian he's not religious at.
- 37:35Speaker 2: All, yeah but it's a. Grift, yeah it works for.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Him so he's, like, yeah it's the funniest shit to.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Me AND i just feel many, days, bro LIKE i
- 37:43Speaker 2: just don't know what to. Do AND i do believe in,
- 37:45Speaker 2: Art LIKE i believe that WHAT i do is like you,
- 37:48Speaker 2: know is has whatever the appropriate amount of relative, importance
- 37:52Speaker 2: you know What i'm. Saying, LIKE i think it resonates with,
- 37:55Speaker 2: people helps them understand maybe their relation to themselves, better
- 37:58Speaker 2: helps them express or get in touch with, emotions helps
- 38:01Speaker 2: them feel, represented helps them understand things a little. Better
- 38:05Speaker 2: BUT i also just feel a real weird like despair
- 38:10Speaker 2: and helplessness about the state of things and my place in.
- 38:14Speaker 2: Them especially the older THAT i, get you start to
- 38:17Speaker 2: lose the excitement, around you. KNOW i was talking to my,
- 38:20Speaker 2: Friend i've been doing some of these interviews and getting
- 38:24Speaker 2: some of these, looks and he was, like, man like
- 38:27Speaker 2: eight years, ago nine years, ago, bro everything you're doing,
- 38:30Speaker 2: now we would have been like freaking. Out we would
- 38:32Speaker 2: have felt like we were just on top of the
- 38:34Speaker 2: world because in your, twenties you just feel like everything's
- 38:37Speaker 2: ahead of, you you know WHAT i, Mean it's all
- 38:38Speaker 2: this ambitious, energy and then you start to see the
- 38:41Speaker 2: world and how it really. Operates And i'm not Saying
- 38:46Speaker 2: i'm not excited And i'm not, grateful But i'm also just, like,
- 38:50Speaker 2: damn what's really? Important what DO i really care? About
- 38:54Speaker 2: and what DO i? Do like how DO i contribute
- 38:58Speaker 2: in a way that that my nervous system can also?
- 39:00Speaker 2: Handle SO i feel, LIKE i, mean this is a
- 39:04Speaker 2: long tangential rent to your question about a broken system and,
- 39:07Speaker 2: whatever BUT i feel a lot of resonance with.
- 39:10Speaker 1: That, yeah it's like almost like everything you, know there's
- 39:15Speaker 1: we're obviously a capitalistic, society but everything is so hyper
- 39:20Speaker 1: focused On, yeah but you know it's better for you,
- 39:27Speaker 1: know you heard what was that bitch's Named Pam bondy
- 39:29Speaker 1: when she when she brought up in the, thing she was,
- 39:31Speaker 1: like but the Dal jones is, over you, know whatever the?
- 39:34Speaker 1: Fuck AND i think about just like it's kind of,
- 39:37Speaker 1: TRANSLATED i guess kind of LIKE i don't know if
- 39:40Speaker 1: it's A trump, thing but all of that kind of
- 39:42Speaker 1: approach to like the world when it comes.
- 39:45Speaker 2: TO, ai like we KNOW ai is bad for.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Society and totality because it's gonna displace people's. Jobs you,
- 39:55Speaker 1: know it's gonna increase the like like super poverty is
- 39:59Speaker 1: gonna be. Crazy you know a lot of these rich
- 40:01Speaker 1: motherfuckers really just want us to sit at home and
- 40:03Speaker 1: live in a virtual world and eat their fucking bug
- 40:05Speaker 1: protein and just be. Consumers but it even like bleeds
- 40:09Speaker 1: over to like the content, side because like it's now
- 40:12Speaker 1: it's like you gotta do like irl streaming to like
- 40:15Speaker 1: really resonate.
- 40:16Speaker 2: In the new era of.
- 40:17Speaker 1: Content but at what point in time is it like
- 40:20Speaker 1: too much to like live your life for like. Strangers
- 40:24Speaker 1: it's already too. Much it's way too, much. Bro it's like,
- 40:26Speaker 1: okay sorry With, instagram but it's like now you actually
- 40:28Speaker 1: have to have like a dude running around with you
- 40:30Speaker 1: with a backpack on fucking streaming you the whole fucking.
- 40:34Speaker 2: Time, yeah and now you're living your life for moments
- 40:40Speaker 2: that will get.
- 40:40Speaker 1: Clipped, wow there are people at home depressed watching you
- 40:45Speaker 1: live your life in real.
- 40:46Speaker 2: Time, yeah it's so. Crazy real life is becoming novelty
- 40:50Speaker 2: and it's just becoming like a commodity to be sold
- 40:56Speaker 2: instead of to be lived and it's becoming so. Normalized,
- 40:59Speaker 2: man just depresses the shit out of. Me AND i
- 41:02Speaker 2: Don't i'm. Older you think about it too, much it'll
- 41:04Speaker 2: fuck with, you. Bro i'm old enough to remember how
- 41:07Speaker 2: the air smelled before fucking social, media before when you
- 41:11Speaker 2: would just walk across the block and your peoples was just,
- 41:14Speaker 2: outside or they was at the park and you stopped
- 41:16Speaker 2: in to see if they were. There you didn't know
- 41:18Speaker 2: because it wasn't fucking posted. Everywhere there wasn't a group,
- 41:21Speaker 2: chat and it was, like oh, man and you were
- 41:24Speaker 2: present for a few, hours or you played, ball or
- 41:27Speaker 2: you did whatever you. Did and also you had an
- 41:31Speaker 2: aspiration to achieve things inside of your, community make people
- 41:36Speaker 2: in your community proud and build those, bonds as opposed
- 41:38Speaker 2: to going online every day and seeing all the things
- 41:41Speaker 2: you're not, doing all the things that people have every
- 41:44Speaker 2: bit you're not fucking you know What i'm saying metaphorically and,
- 41:47Speaker 2: Literally and it's just like you, Know SO i don't
- 41:52Speaker 2: want to be trite about the shit or be like sounding,
- 41:55Speaker 2: mad unk or old or, whatever BUT i JUST i just,
- 41:59Speaker 2: think like we have it's reached a point, where like you,
- 42:02Speaker 2: said the people that control capital and that are in
- 42:05Speaker 2: power are incentivized to keep, marginalizing you, know people to
- 42:11Speaker 2: more and more poverty and dependence on shit that they.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Control and if we don't draw some lines in the
- 42:17Speaker 2: sand and, actively you, know fight against these, things it
- 42:23Speaker 2: can't just be, like, well this is just how it is,
- 42:25Speaker 2: now you, know this is just what's. Next it's, like
- 42:26Speaker 2: well you Gotta.
- 42:27Speaker 1: Yeah that's why that's WHY i fuck with The zoron Bro,
- 42:30Speaker 1: man Because i'm, like if this ship works In New,
- 42:32Speaker 1: york you, KNOW i.
- 42:33Speaker 2: Hope somebody Like Ao seeker run for.
- 42:35Speaker 1: President AND i don't even know if she's the, person
- 42:37Speaker 1: BUT i, MEAN i, mean you, know BUT i don't
- 42:40Speaker 1: know who The zoron because unfortunately he was born In,
- 42:42Speaker 1: uganda so he can't be.
- 42:43Speaker 2: President. Mother that's.
- 42:45Speaker 1: CRAZY i, know it sucks Because i'm, like he'll, cook but,
- 42:49Speaker 1: YEAH i JUST i mean not to say that, anybody
- 42:52Speaker 1: like you can't blame who the president is for any
- 42:54Speaker 1: one thing too.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Much you, know you gotta have some self.
- 42:57Speaker 1: Accountability but it just feels like the world is like
- 43:00Speaker 1: and then like we're in this dystopian place where like
- 43:04Speaker 1: there's just so much fucked up shit going on at
- 43:06Speaker 1: once that like the outrage about like what's happening In
- 43:09Speaker 1: gaza And lebanon and Like, congo like it kind of
- 43:12Speaker 1: comes and, goes, yeah the wow shit.
- 43:15Speaker 2: Comes, Well SO i was that's something that was hard
- 43:17Speaker 2: for me. Too SO i, like when, uh the stuff
- 43:22Speaker 2: In gaza was really prominent, online you, know like and
- 43:25Speaker 2: it's still.
- 43:26Speaker 1: Happening, yeah but but but all of the, algorithms algorithms
- 43:29Speaker 1: have been fixed, exactly so TikTok has been, acquired, Right
- 43:32Speaker 1: and so in the very beginning of, that you, know
- 43:35Speaker 1: after the attack and every AND i was deep in
- 43:38Speaker 1: a mode of Like i'm working on my project And
- 43:41Speaker 1: i'm away from kind of away from social media right.
- 43:43Speaker 2: Now AND i was also in a places like you,
- 43:45Speaker 2: Said i've done a lot of political work throughout my.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Career people know WHERE i stand on certain. Things BUT
- 43:50Speaker 2: i also realized like this idea of the, ACCOUNTABILITY i
- 43:55Speaker 2: did a lot of thinking, about like what's the accountability
- 43:57Speaker 2: of me the artists to be like posting the what
- 44:02Speaker 2: is performative versus actually contributing who is it? For asking
- 44:07Speaker 2: myself a lot IF i had an urge to post
- 44:08Speaker 2: something like who's this? For is it? For is it for?
- 44:11Speaker 2: Me is it for? You do you? Like because everyone's
- 44:14Speaker 2: not even gonna see what you post. Anyway you, know
- 44:17Speaker 2: like you couldn't check the box for. Everybody and if
- 44:19Speaker 2: you're doing it to check a, box then who are
- 44:21Speaker 2: you doing it? For you're doing it for, yourself.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Right and then thinking about a lot of, people like
- 44:25Speaker 1: the structures of. Power you know a lot of people
- 44:27Speaker 1: making a lot of noise online about certain things going.
- 44:29Speaker 1: On and when you follow the money of who these
- 44:32Speaker 1: people are work for hire signed to as corporations and
- 44:36Speaker 1: you follow the, MONEY i mean this is WHERE i
- 44:37Speaker 1: should stop, talking honestly before shout out to our brothers

- 45:33Speaker 1: back about how shit really. Operates and the problem is
- 45:36Speaker 1: like it's never gonna get like an UNSEEN i guess.
- 45:40Speaker 1: Yeah but at the same, time it's, like at what
- 45:43Speaker 1: point in time do people like like you said, earlier
- 45:48Speaker 1: like it just.
- 45:48Speaker 2: Is the way it. Is they just accept it and they're,
- 45:50Speaker 2: like this is just how it. Is, well so that's the.
- 45:52Speaker 2: THING i wrestled a lot with it during that time
- 45:55Speaker 2: and just thinking about like HOW i move and operate
- 45:58Speaker 2: from a place of, integrity AND i think it's, like,
- 46:03Speaker 2: YEAH i have to represent things and speak on things,
- 46:05Speaker 2: thematically like in my WORK i think it comes down,
- 46:08Speaker 2: to like what DO i represent in my? Work because
- 46:10Speaker 2: people can say all this stuff and post a bunch
- 46:12Speaker 2: and do, Whatever but what makes it not performative is
- 46:17Speaker 2: how you live in your day to day and who
- 46:20Speaker 2: you know work. For AND i think you know it's a.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Lot it's actually pretty easy now to make a post
- 46:26Speaker 2: in support of something or against. Something it's really hard
- 46:29Speaker 2: to like stand in the truth in how you make
- 46:33Speaker 2: your money in this world and how you show up
- 46:35Speaker 2: every day to that job where maybe you don't love
- 46:38Speaker 2: who you work, for but you're going to control what
- 46:40Speaker 2: you can control and try to operate from. Integrity you're
- 46:43Speaker 2: going to try to contribute some of your ethos and
- 46:45Speaker 2: principles into what you're. Doing you're gonna say no to
- 46:48Speaker 2: a job that pays a little more money to take
- 46:50Speaker 2: a job that you feel like contributes to the. World
- 46:52Speaker 2: like that's really hard to, do, Actually and SO i,
- 46:56Speaker 2: realize like it doesn't mean that you got to go
- 46:59Speaker 2: make six songs like about, this, that and, that or
- 47:03Speaker 2: your whole life has to become one big giant post
- 47:06Speaker 2: about everything that's going wrong so you can show people
- 47:08Speaker 2: what you. Think but LIKE i had this conversation with,
- 47:12Speaker 2: myself AND i was, like you got to hold yourself.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Accountable how do you operate in the space that you find.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Yourself you're a, rapper you make, music you're an. Artist you, know,
- 47:21Speaker 2: like do you feel like the way you operate inter
- 47:24Speaker 2: personally with people and the way you operate with big
- 47:27Speaker 2: money with respect to the big money and the powers
- 47:29Speaker 2: that be in your, industry do you feel like you
- 47:32Speaker 2: operate in integrity with regard to those? Things AND i
- 47:35Speaker 2: ask myself those questions every day and some DAYS i
- 47:37Speaker 2: don't love the, answers and that shit. Hurts but that
- 47:40Speaker 2: is the work of like what it means to try
- 47:42Speaker 2: to have, integrity and that is a lot harder than
- 47:45Speaker 2: getting online and like posting about some shit Over. YEAH
- 47:48Speaker 2: i think when.
- 47:48Speaker 1: There's like a certain level of artists where you know,
- 47:53Speaker 1: it it might cost them opportunities to speak, Out, yeah
- 47:59Speaker 1: and they don't because they're worried about the bottom. Line,
- 48:03Speaker 1: yeah which is why LIKE i fuck with The, Weekend
- 48:06Speaker 1: and you, know there's there's certain artists that like are
- 48:10Speaker 1: very like they put, like you, KNOW i think The
- 48:12Speaker 1: weekend has donated millions of dollars to what's going on
- 48:16Speaker 1: in gaza to help and displace families And. Gayza now
- 48:18Speaker 1: obviously who knows where the fuck that money, goes because
- 48:21Speaker 1: that whole charity ecosystem is its own level of.
- 48:24Speaker 2: Corruption but, yeah.
- 48:26Speaker 1: But you, KNOW i THINK i just think it's interesting
- 48:28Speaker 1: because you'll see artists who should be saying something right
- 48:32Speaker 1: not say anything. Right and it's literally because they're worried
- 48:35Speaker 1: about their.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Pockets, no it's, gross, man and it's it's. Nasty and
- 48:39Speaker 2: we see this shit across culture and it's like we
- 48:42Speaker 2: also have to stop doing the thing of like when
- 48:47Speaker 2: we talk about these people that have certain people that
- 48:49Speaker 2: have so much, money, celebrities, right so much, money and we're, like,
- 48:52Speaker 2: man they're risking losing. Opportunities it's, like so what are they?
- 48:56Speaker 2: Risking like they might make ten million this year instead
- 49:00Speaker 2: of twenty because there's a there's a there's a, person
- 49:03Speaker 2: there's a woman who's like speaking out at a school
- 49:06Speaker 2: board meeting who might lose might lose her, livelihood who
- 49:09Speaker 2: might lose her, livelihood who might ostracize herself in her
- 49:12Speaker 2: community and create make shit weird for her, kids who
- 49:16Speaker 2: might do all this. Shit and Then i'm supposed to
- 49:18Speaker 2: clap for some like corporate juggernaut motherfucker disguised as an
- 49:22Speaker 2: artist who's, like, OH i might not get to go
- 49:25Speaker 2: work the Like Wells fargo benefit In dubai or whatever
- 49:28Speaker 2: the fuck these motherfuckers do for their extra bag on the.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Weekend you know What i'm, Saying fuck that, shit, Bro
- 49:33Speaker 2: like this the bar is so, low like And i'm
- 49:36Speaker 2: Just i'm Just i'm just over. That, like have you
- 49:38Speaker 2: listened To? ICEMAN i have. Not it's not. Bad i've.
- 49:43Speaker 1: Listened i've been known to be A drake hater in my.
- 49:45Speaker 1: Life Did drake bots have me on their? BLACKLIST i
- 49:49Speaker 1: don't hate. It it's not.
- 49:51Speaker 2: BAD i think it's the.
- 49:52Speaker 1: BEST i think it's the best bars he's EVER i think,
- 49:54Speaker 1: lyrically it's the sharpest he's ever.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Been here's the, THING keV come to you here feeling
- 50:02Speaker 2: like a real, rapper Like i'm somebody LIKE i feel
- 50:06Speaker 2: like with this, ALBUM i feel like it's at a
- 50:09Speaker 2: certain level regardless of where my stature is in the,
- 50:13Speaker 2: game and so being at that level THAT i feel
- 50:15Speaker 2: Like i'm. At you're not gonna get me to talk
- 50:18Speaker 2: About drake like a fan Because i'm not gonna get in.
- 50:21Speaker 1: Trouble IT'S i just wondered because you're you're a STELLAR
- 50:25Speaker 1: mc AND i Thought.
- 50:27Speaker 2: DRAKE i Thought drake was getting his. SHIT i was very.
- 50:29Speaker 2: Not i'm JUST i JUST i HAVEN'T i haven't heard.
- 50:32Speaker 2: It but that is an interesting. Point you. Know it's
- 50:34Speaker 2: like that in this podcast, generation, Right it's Like i'll
- 50:37Speaker 2: see guys talking about like and obviously like, Bro, like
- 50:40Speaker 2: no one's gonna confuse me for being on the Level
- 50:42Speaker 2: Drake hendre that these are goats that obviously we talked,
- 50:44Speaker 2: about but it is something to think. ABOUT i don't
- 50:46Speaker 2: know if you ever think about, that like with respect to,
- 50:48Speaker 2: artists BECAUSE i think about it AND i Want i've
- 50:50Speaker 2: never talked to any of my rapper friends about, this
- 50:52Speaker 2: but it's LIKE i do be feeling like that sometimes
- 50:54Speaker 2: Because i'm, Like i'm not going to talk about this man's.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Album like it's like a it's like asking Like Jalen
- 51:01Speaker 2: brunson to like critique Uh sja's game or.
- 51:03Speaker 1: Something, WELL i think it'd be like, this right if
- 51:06Speaker 1: there's a press conference tonight after The Knicks caves. Game, yeah,
- 51:09Speaker 1: okay right, now the biggest topic in hip hop is Ice. Man,
- 51:14Speaker 1: yeah there's someone's gonna Ask Jalen brunson what he thought
- 51:18Speaker 1: Of wenby shot last? Night did you See wenby hit
- 51:20Speaker 1: that three last? Night it's gonna come up somebody on
- 51:23Speaker 1: The knicks Or caves is going to get that ask
- 51:25Speaker 1: that question because it's the story of.
- 51:26Speaker 2: The, yeah but it's, like but but What jayalen brun
- 51:31Speaker 2: is not gonna? SAY i thought it? WAS i thought it,
- 51:33Speaker 2: sucked like you know WHAT i, Mean, like let's, see, like,
- 51:35Speaker 2: NO i, yeah, no for.
- 51:37Speaker 1: SURE i MEAN I i don't think The drake album.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Sucks SO i wasn't trying to bait you to say it.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Sucks, No i'm not saying that at. All i'm only
- 51:42Speaker 2: only like being this meta because you're my Man's BUT, i,
- 51:46Speaker 2: LIKE i do think it's just Something i've never. Articulated
- 51:49Speaker 2: LIKE i think about that all the. Time where it's
- 51:50Speaker 2: like BECAUSE i see a lot of rappers because everything
- 51:54Speaker 2: is like talk, media, dude it's, crazy like everyone's got a,
- 51:57Speaker 2: show so everyone's like you're talking about somebody else's out
- 52:00Speaker 2: them that's like kind of your peer in contemporary and
- 52:02Speaker 2: it's like even if you, write it's like there are
- 52:07Speaker 2: PEOPLE i see in the fabric of this people THAT
- 52:09Speaker 2: i really respect as like cultural or musical journalists or
- 52:12Speaker 2: ambassadors of culture whose job it is to like critique the. Work.
- 52:16Speaker 2: Yeah now it's now they've signed up for that position
- 52:18Speaker 2: in the. Country my job is to make the. Work
- 52:20Speaker 2: LIKE i don't you don't have a, PODCAST i don't
- 52:22Speaker 2: want to critique the.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Work, yeah like because because you, know, no it's, like,
- 52:26Speaker 1: uh Like joe And. Jada, now, yeah while THEY'RE i
- 52:30Speaker 1: mean in the trenches is artists Still, yeah they also
- 52:33Speaker 1: have one of the most prolific podcasts Out, yeah so.

- 52:39Speaker 2: it's kind of what yeh comes with, it you. Know,
- 52:42Speaker 2: yeah but they're, old they're they're they're. Older well they're
- 52:45Speaker 2: just they're. Older they're like, established so they talk they're, like,

- 52:51Speaker 2: know feel more comfortable with. THAT i don't, Know i'm just.

- 55:45Speaker 1: the way we got, CDs i. DO i think it's
- 55:48Speaker 1: crazy as the analog, MAN i think because of how
- 55:51Speaker 1: cooked we are in, society you, know moving towards Like
- 55:55Speaker 1: wally becoming like a real thing there is like a real.
- 56:00Speaker 1: SURGENTS i feel like that the analog shit's going to
- 56:02Speaker 1: MAKE i. AGREE i mean it's gonna be like, VINTAGE i,
- 56:05Speaker 1: hope so like iPods right.

- 56:14Speaker 1: used to, Have, yeah the bitches are reselling for like
- 56:16Speaker 1: four hundred.
- 56:17Speaker 2: Dollars that's what the kids. WANT i remember my man
- 56:19Speaker 2: almost got robbed for his iPods shuffle. Recently, no, no
- 56:24Speaker 2: this was, like oh.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Yeah but back in the, day that little iPod shuffle
- 56:29Speaker 1: was the Motherfucking.
- 56:30Speaker 2: YEAH i had a hundred songs on it and you
- 56:32Speaker 2: and it had no screen so it was all a
- 56:34Speaker 2: little white a little white bar so you just like
- 56:37Speaker 2: it just, shuffled that was all it. Did but he
- 56:39Speaker 2: got pressed for that. Shit.
- 56:40Speaker 1: YEAH i feel, like, man people ARE i feel like
- 56:42Speaker 1: CDs like CDs people want to buy. Again and it's
- 56:46Speaker 1: weird to like talk to like my son's twenty and
- 56:49Speaker 1: my other son's, twelve but it's like That i'd just
- 56:51Speaker 1: be forgetting they have the absolutely zero concept of like physical. Media, yeah, yeah,
- 56:57Speaker 1: yeah my kid my son has like you, know we
- 56:59Speaker 1: grew up with like blue Blue bluetooth and blue Rays.
- 57:02Speaker 2: Bluetooth the fuck.
- 57:03Speaker 1: Yeah but it's like there's a whole generation they're gonna
- 57:06Speaker 1: go back and they be, like wait a, minute you
- 57:07Speaker 1: could own something and hold.
- 57:09Speaker 2: It i'm really into vinyl right, now you, know like
- 57:12Speaker 2: the biggest it's ever.
- 57:12Speaker 1: Been.
- 57:13Speaker 2: It LIKE i go to the two dollars bins AND
- 57:15Speaker 2: i discover Because i'm really into like all this like
- 57:18Speaker 2: old soul and all this shit That i've dug deeper
- 57:21Speaker 2: and deeper into from working with the musicians THAT i,
- 57:23Speaker 2: Have and, Yeah i'm super into it now And i'm
- 57:26Speaker 2: in my early. THIRTIES i, MEAN i THINK i had
- 57:29Speaker 2: a theory That i'm almost like A i. SHOULD i
- 57:32Speaker 2: feel like the danger of it is there could be
- 57:36Speaker 2: someone that, says twenty years from, now, like oh, No
- 57:38Speaker 2: i'm really into human. Music like that's a. Niche like
- 57:42Speaker 2: that's a niche where it's like if you're kind of,
- 57:44Speaker 2: indie you're, Like i'm into you, KNOW i like it
- 57:46Speaker 2: when humans do the music and not the. Robot, Yeah
- 57:48Speaker 2: i'm into human, Music like that's my. THING i think that's.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Coming SO i think these, things BUT i feel like
- 57:54Speaker 2: that just tripped me. Out, yeah that's gonna. Happen And
- 57:56Speaker 2: i'll say. This you know we talked. Earlier you were
- 57:59Speaker 2: like and so, No, yeah that's What i'm. Saying BUT
- 58:02Speaker 2: i THINK i don't. KNOW i don't know if like
- 58:05Speaker 2: me doing things the way THAT i just continue to do,
- 58:08Speaker 2: them whether it pays out in the long. Run you,
- 58:11Speaker 2: KNOW i talked about having that, belief BUT i do
- 58:13Speaker 2: think there is a feeling THAT i have That i'm
- 58:17Speaker 2: positioned well for if the shit goes left with THIS ai,
- 58:21Speaker 2: SHIT i feel like there's enough people that respect and
- 58:25Speaker 2: care about WHAT i do and the AUTHENTICITY i do
- 58:27Speaker 2: it with that will be hungry for the antithesis of
- 58:30Speaker 2: whatever the Bullshit like it's never it's not gonna replace.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Me it's going to replace top forty or it's gonna replace.
- 58:35Speaker 2: Whatever SO i feel pretty well positioned for that and
- 58:38Speaker 2: feel like the people THAT i fuck will still allow
- 58:40Speaker 2: me to make a. LIVING i, hope. Please you, Know
- 58:42Speaker 2: i'm so tired and a. Flyers i'll be.
- 58:45Speaker 1: Scrolling i'm, like come, on, man yeah, man it's, like

- 59:34Speaker 1: is it should be for.
- 59:35Speaker 2: Like curing the problems of climate change and disease and.
- 59:38Speaker 1: Right but it's adding to it because these data centers
