- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, the podcast presented by BET three
- 0:12Speaker 1: sixty five. We are part of the Action Network. I
- 0:16Speaker 1: am Chad Milman, Chief Content Officer of the Action Network.
- 0:21Speaker 1: As always, I am joined by my co host, my companion,
- 0:24Speaker 1: Mike Campadre, my BFF professional better Simon Hunter.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Hello Simon, Hello Chad and busy weekend. How you doing,
- 0:34Speaker 2: brother dude.
- 0:36Speaker 1: We're recovered from the eclipse. We're recovered from WrestleMania. We're
- 0:43Speaker 1: recovered from an epic trip to Colorado.
- 0:47Speaker 3: We're back, addict.
- 0:48Speaker 1: We have a very special NFL guest on today's show.
- 0:55Speaker 3: The NFL Draft is next week. We love the draft.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I like to introduce this next guest using his NFL
- 1:05Speaker 1: Draft profile from April of twenty thirteen.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Are you ready? Quote?
- 1:12Speaker 1: What sticks out most about this player is his explosiveness.
- 1:18Speaker 1: He is an absolute bottle rocket and moves with discipline
- 1:23Speaker 1: and urgency. He possesses a terrific motor, does not get gassed,
- 1:29Speaker 1: and never gives up on plays.
- 1:32Speaker 4: There's more.
- 1:33Speaker 1: This player certainly has the potential important to remember that word,
- 1:39Speaker 1: the potential to play tackle in the NFL. But what
- 1:42Speaker 1: makes him a safe pick is his easy transition to
- 1:45Speaker 1: the guard position, and finally the la Times once said
- 1:52Speaker 1: our guest was the best part of an a cappella
- 1:57Speaker 1: singof scene. The only memorable moment in this movie, of course,
- 2:04Speaker 1: that was the draft profile and movie review for pitch
- 2:07Speaker 1: Perfect two. For today's very special guest, David Baktiari, the
- 2:12Speaker 1: fourth round draft pick who would start, by the way,
- 2:14Speaker 1: over one hundred and thirty games at tackle for the
- 2:17Speaker 1: Green Bay Packers, earning Pro Bowl trips, earning all Pro mentions.
- 2:23Speaker 1: David Baktiari and your glorious hair, Welcome to the show.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I appreciate it, Chad. That's that's quite an ego stroke
- 2:33Speaker 4: to me, so it's always nice. I have a proper introduction.
- 2:36Speaker 1: That was a pretty great intro, you know, credit to
- 2:39Speaker 1: Matt Mitchell, producer Matt Mitchell, who pulled the draft stuff.
- 2:42Speaker 1: I did my own research on pitch Perfect two and
- 2:46Speaker 1: read the Times review this morning before we came out
- 2:49Speaker 1: on the air, and I was pretty pleased with what
- 2:51Speaker 1: is it what I was able to pick out, and
- 2:53Speaker 1: by the way, uh, we'll get to pitch Perfect two.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I did watch some of the highlights on YouTube last night,
- 3:02Speaker 1: and we're gonna dig deep on all that and more.

- 3:57Speaker 1: the Action Network YouTube page. All right, sir, welcome, welcome, Welcome,
- 4:04Speaker 1: let's start, you know, for the first time in your career,
- 4:07Speaker 1: no longer with the Green Bay Packers. Give us an
- 4:10Speaker 1: update on how you're feeling and what's happening with your
- 4:15Speaker 1: incredible NFL journey.
- 4:17Speaker 4: Yeah, so the Packers they broke up with me, you know,
- 4:20Speaker 4: eleven year relationship. It was good, it was fun, bittersweet,
- 4:23Speaker 4: you know, I loved, loved my time in Green Bay.
- 4:26Speaker 4: But the reality of being the player side, you know,
- 4:29Speaker 4: you as a fan, it's like, oh, you'd always love
- 4:31Speaker 4: like your players to stay with the team, and I
- 4:33Speaker 4: would too, but it is a business at the end
- 4:35Speaker 4: of the day, so business decision to be made. Currently
- 4:38Speaker 4: a free agent, currently rehabbing from my surgery this past year,
- 4:43Speaker 4: and kind of just playing the field, feeling it out,
- 4:47Speaker 4: seeing when what teams will call, where that might be,
- 4:51Speaker 4: and kind of keeping all options open. So it's kind
- 4:53Speaker 4: of exciting. I've I've never been a free agent before.
- 4:55Speaker 4: It's kind of cool being like the new hot girl
- 4:58Speaker 4: on campus and get all the teams kind of having
- 5:00Speaker 4: their feelers out for you, kind of give an eigh
- 5:02Speaker 4: to you. So it's been kind of cool so far.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I have a theory and I think this goes back years.
- 5:08Speaker 1: The longer your hair as an offensive lineman, the more
- 5:13Speaker 1: of a chance you stand out, the more excited fans
- 5:16Speaker 1: get to follow you to watch you play. You know,
- 5:20Speaker 1: it goes back like remember Kyle Turley and he had
- 5:24Speaker 1: that long flowing Maine and like you see it with
- 5:28Speaker 1: guys when they're running out of the field and they're
- 5:31Speaker 1: taped up as warrior like as it gets and you're
- 5:35Speaker 1: coming out there with long hair. I do think it
- 5:37Speaker 1: has a massive impact popularity of offensive linemen.
- 5:41Speaker 4: Can't say that I modeled my hair game after him.
- 5:43Speaker 4: I was honestly was just trying to grow a mullet
- 5:45Speaker 4: in college, and then when it came down to cut
- 5:47Speaker 4: my hair, I had buyers or more so, I ended
- 5:50Speaker 4: up just keeping with it and then obviously got the
- 5:52Speaker 4: Clay Matthews cut. Once I met Clay back in twenty thirteen,
- 5:55Speaker 4: he showed me how to how to do my hair
- 5:57Speaker 4: properly and not look like an idiot, and then just
- 6:00Speaker 4: kind of stuck. I kind of enjoyed it, kind of
- 6:02Speaker 4: let it down either on some crazy nights with a
- 6:05Speaker 4: bunch of beers, a bunch of beers in me, or
- 6:08Speaker 4: when I'm playing football. That's pretty much the only times
- 6:09Speaker 4: that my hair comes down.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I have a selfish question as an Eagles fan, could
- 6:14Speaker 2: you tell me what the magic is of Jeff Stotlin
- 6:16Speaker 2: on the Eagles offensive line coach? Is there rumors around
- 6:19Speaker 2: the league how this guy is just the offensive line whisper?
- 6:22Speaker 2: What makes him so special that you know Melta came
- 6:25Speaker 2: to him as an Australian rules rugby player and now
- 6:29Speaker 2: is one of the highest paid tackles in football. I mean,
- 6:31Speaker 2: it's incredible, how incredibly gifted of a coach he is
- 6:35Speaker 2: and how many people know this. He's a Chip Kelly project.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Chip Kelly brought him in when he joined the Eagles.
- 6:39Speaker 2: So I would love to know what your viewpoint is
- 6:41Speaker 2: of Jeff as someone that hasn't ever played for him,
- 6:43Speaker 2: but obviously you've heard about him and what he's done
- 6:46Speaker 2: with other players.
- 6:47Speaker 4: Yeah. I actually I know Jeff because during the draft
- 6:51Speaker 4: process way back in the day, we did an official
- 6:54Speaker 4: interview at the Combine and then he also came out
- 6:56Speaker 4: to Boulder for my pro day and then he held
- 6:58Speaker 4: a private work out with me, so we had so he.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Just knows talent. Jeff just knows he knew with you obviously.
- 7:05Speaker 4: I mean not enough. But maybe they maybe they felt
- 7:08Speaker 4: good enough with Lane that year because they maybe I
- 7:11Speaker 4: was I was to hedge their bet if they didn't
- 7:15Speaker 4: go Lane, or if Lane didn't fall to them, that
- 7:18Speaker 4: maybe I was gonna be taken. They were gonna not
- 7:20Speaker 4: take any tackle in the first round or second round
- 7:23Speaker 4: and then maybe try and get Because I was supposed
- 7:24Speaker 4: to be like a I probably probably should have been
- 7:27Speaker 4: like a third round pick. I don't, you know, like
- 7:29Speaker 4: my age and everyone, I kind of thought i'd be
- 7:31Speaker 4: second third, but I was like, yeah, probably third. Nothing
- 7:33Speaker 4: sexy about me. I'm not super tall, I'm not super nast.
- 7:37Speaker 4: I remember laying like speaking of the Eagles make you
- 7:40Speaker 4: feel good, like, uh, when we were doing like the
- 7:42Speaker 4: draft day, I remember we got locked in like this. Uh,
- 7:45Speaker 4: we got put in this room together where the all
- 7:48Speaker 4: the doctors can I evaluate you, and then you have
- 7:49Speaker 4: to like or almost like stripped down and get naked.
- 7:52Speaker 4: You're definitely a piece of meat. You're like a piece
- 7:53Speaker 4: of cattle. And I remember like Lane like stood up
- 7:55Speaker 4: and he took his shirt off, and like I saw
- 7:56Speaker 4: like his ribs and he had like a six pack.
- 7:58Speaker 4: As an offensive lineman, and being like six six and
- 8:01Speaker 4: I'm like, well, I mean it makes sense why this
- 8:04Speaker 4: guy's Probably I don't have that, but yeah, I know.
- 8:09Speaker 4: Get getting back to Jeff, I think his ability to
- 8:13Speaker 4: relate and demand yet appreciate with the player, so to
- 8:19Speaker 4: demand a certain energy and excellence of all his players
- 8:23Speaker 4: while also having that ability to connect and relate, so
- 8:27Speaker 4: you know, definitely uh getting the most out of his
- 8:30Speaker 4: players at the end of the day. That's essentially a
- 8:32Speaker 4: quick way of saying it. And he understands football, he
- 8:34Speaker 4: understands proper technique. I mean he's taken raw talent and
- 8:39Speaker 4: you know, carved it and made pretty good players. And
- 8:41Speaker 4: it's not just Jordan. You can look at a couple
- 8:43Speaker 4: other guys at a phone that are their sixth n
- 8:46Speaker 4: man up and they go out there and they are
- 8:47Speaker 4: able to do a good job. And I think that
- 8:49Speaker 4: speaks to his individual drills and what he talks about
- 8:52Speaker 4: in the classroom because his guys get it. His guys
- 8:54Speaker 4: are prepared, and I mean, those guys better appreciate, you know,
- 8:57Speaker 4: the type of coach you because it's not a lot
- 8:59Speaker 4: of great coaches out there. At the end of the day.
- 9:01Speaker 4: I've been blessed to have amazing coaches on my end.
- 9:03Speaker 4: But I've been around other coaches that I just sit
- 9:05Speaker 4: there and I'm like, yeah, I'm glad I have a
- 9:09Speaker 4: good room with the older veterans because he may know
- 9:12Speaker 4: football like x's and no's, but from technique, he like
- 9:15Speaker 4: has no idea, He's just talking.
- 9:18Speaker 1: What do you remember about the draft process as you
- 9:21Speaker 1: were going through it?
- 9:22Speaker 4: The combine is not sexy. What the TV side, you
- 9:25Speaker 4: guys get all the glitz and glamour. The players side,
- 9:28Speaker 4: I can speak for everyone, it is not a sexy thing.
- 9:31Speaker 4: It essentially a test in and of itself. If you're
- 9:33Speaker 4: doing so many psych evaluation tests where you're doing like
- 9:35Speaker 4: two hundred to four hundred question psych evaluations, like there
- 9:39Speaker 4: might be three or four teams terns and you, so
- 9:40Speaker 4: you have to do their psychic evaluation test and they
- 9:43Speaker 4: don't care how much time they take because you voluntarily
- 9:45Speaker 4: go to this place that they you can do whatever
- 9:47Speaker 4: you want and you have no time, Like I think
- 9:50Speaker 4: there's like a window between like seven in the morning
- 9:53Speaker 4: till like twelve one o'clock at night, Like there was
- 9:55Speaker 4: things that you're doing twelve one am in the morning
- 9:57Speaker 4: then you're up at six thirty in the morning. So
- 9:59Speaker 4: those psych test just wear you out and they're stupid.
- 10:01Speaker 4: It's like, uh, it's like, uh, what's your favorite color?
- 10:04Speaker 4: Do you love your mom and dad? Did you like
- 10:07Speaker 4: going to school? Have you ever thought about shooting someone
- 10:09Speaker 4: in the head? And I'm like, like assuming the reason
- 10:12Speaker 4: why they do is because you have somebody's to be like, yeah,
- 10:14Speaker 4: you know a couple times person pissed me off. I'm like,
- 10:16Speaker 4: they just wear you out doing that. The food sucks.
- 10:18Speaker 2: The Patriots must not have assets to Hernandez, yeah, hey now, or.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Maybe they just overlooked it because of the talent.
- 10:25Speaker 2: That's true.
- 10:26Speaker 4: That's true. The food sucks. I remember walking this auditorium
- 10:28Speaker 4: where they do like the height and measure. Is this
- 10:30Speaker 4: all the same place you do the bench? You walk
- 10:32Speaker 4: into this like half auditorium, there's a stage, there's like
- 10:35Speaker 4: an MC almost, and they give like your name, your school,
- 10:38Speaker 4: your weight, like you step on the scale and just
- 10:40Speaker 4: your spandex. And you got all these coaches and scouts
- 10:43Speaker 4: and they're all just staring at you, just so you're
- 10:44Speaker 4: not really hiding much they could see or at all
- 10:47Speaker 4: your goods rattle off, how big your hands are, your wingspan,
- 10:50Speaker 4: your height, your weight, and then you walk off the
- 10:52Speaker 4: stage and you go do a body mass index and
- 10:55Speaker 4: then like you rarely have any time to eat and
- 10:57Speaker 4: do all this stuff, so like most of it sucks,
- 10:59Speaker 4: I'll say for the guys, especially if you have a
- 11:00Speaker 4: long hospital visit, because you have to do a full
- 11:03Speaker 4: like backscan or anything. Thankfully I did not have to
- 11:06Speaker 4: do an MRI, but certain guys have to do multiple
- 11:09Speaker 4: memris because certain teams want different types of imaging and
- 11:12Speaker 4: like I said, you're just a piece of cattle. That's
- 11:13Speaker 4: just your number and whatever you want to do. So
- 11:16Speaker 4: I thankfully out of college, I didn't have too much.
- 11:19Speaker 4: It was maybe like a two and a half hours
- 11:22Speaker 4: in the hospital. I had guys there for ten hours.
- 11:25Speaker 4: Their whole day was over there. They missed, they couldn't
- 11:27Speaker 4: do their certain interviews, they had to move them because
- 11:29Speaker 4: of all the different imaging that they had to do.
- 11:32Speaker 4: That part sucked, and then it's okay. Then wake up
- 11:34Speaker 4: the next day, make sure you're properly fueled, you do
- 11:36Speaker 4: your proper warm up, and then go sprint as hard
- 11:38Speaker 4: as you can. That's where you see certain guys that
- 11:40Speaker 4: you hear about them kind of get hurt or pop something.
- 11:43Speaker 4: It's a testing of itself, like how well can you
- 11:45Speaker 4: perform under intense amount of pressure and scrutiny, and like randomness,
- 11:51Speaker 4: because the whole day is very random. There's a lot
- 11:53Speaker 4: of weird things. Speaking of about Bill Belichick, I did
- 11:56Speaker 4: have an interview with the Patriots, and so you have
- 11:58Speaker 4: an official interview. You walk into the these little like rooms.
- 12:00Speaker 4: I guess it's like the suites in the hotel. And
- 12:03Speaker 4: usually it's like oline coach, a bunch of coaches in there.
- 12:06Speaker 4: Sometimes the head coach would be in there, certain scouts,
- 12:10Speaker 4: and I'd say, at least, let's call it on average,
- 12:12Speaker 4: eight people are in this room. And then usually you're
- 12:14Speaker 4: breaking down film. They're asking me questions. They say, they
- 12:16Speaker 4: will kind of want to understand your football IQ or whatever.
- 12:18Speaker 4: Bill Belichick. I really remember walking in and it's just
- 12:21Speaker 4: him and a whiteboard and no film and he's just
- 12:25Speaker 4: going up there and it's telling me about your favorite play.
- 12:27Speaker 4: Draw it up. It is just one on one mono
- 12:30Speaker 4: liu mono. And I thought, you know, for being a
- 12:32Speaker 4: college kid and the immense amount of respect you have,
- 12:35Speaker 4: a guy like Bill Belichick can be very intimidating and
- 12:38Speaker 4: can definitely make you forget a couple of your plays
- 12:40Speaker 4: and formations about how to draw him on a whiteboard.
- 12:42Speaker 4: But I thought that was an interesting strategy, and I
- 12:46Speaker 4: think that was his way of kind of trying to
- 12:47Speaker 4: see his evaluation, which was again, it was the only
- 12:52Speaker 4: thing that was extremely different par to everyone else.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Can you develop a rapport with Bill Belichick?
- 12:57Speaker 4: Yeah? I remember I had certain plays that I had
- 12:59Speaker 4: in my head that I didn't want to draw up,
- 13:01Speaker 4: and then he wanted like full formations the wide receivers
- 13:03Speaker 4: and certain concepts, and I'm gonna be honest, I don't
- 13:06Speaker 4: give a shit what the hell they do, like unless
- 13:08Speaker 4: it's like safety rotation. They have eight to nine hole
- 13:10Speaker 4: like rules, which I learned in the league. Like I
- 13:12Speaker 4: did not know coming out of college. I just knew
- 13:13Speaker 4: what the line had to do, and I taught, you know,
- 13:16Speaker 4: I had to be taught like what running backs and
- 13:17Speaker 4: there are certain footwork and stuff. So he was kind
- 13:20Speaker 4: of grilling me on that end and a couple other formations,
- 13:23Speaker 4: and to be honest, I literally after that meeting, I'm like,
- 13:26Speaker 4: oh sick. He just taught me like two formations and stuff.
- 13:28Speaker 4: So now I'm just gonna lie and act like I'm
- 13:30Speaker 4: gonna take his formation with my run play. I'm gonna
- 13:33Speaker 4: put it together for the next guys I go talk to.
- 13:34Speaker 4: So that's other. That's the part of that that I
- 13:36Speaker 4: still I remember. I thought that was pretty funny. Maybe
- 13:39Speaker 4: he did kind of like me because he's like, I
- 13:41Speaker 4: had another meeting, but I had a break before the
- 13:44Speaker 4: next official meeting. And then he's like, well, I don't
- 13:46Speaker 4: have anyone, so let's keep going. I'm like all right.
- 13:48Speaker 4: And then by the time this guy showed up, that was,
- 13:51Speaker 4: like I said, you're like a piece of meat. So
- 13:52Speaker 4: like someone's like, wait out the door to usher you
- 13:54Speaker 4: somewhere else. It was for the Cardinals. He was like,
- 13:56Speaker 4: what the fuck? Where where were you? Of course Bill
- 13:59Speaker 4: belp oh trying to get an itt'e getting extra fifteen
- 14:01Speaker 4: minutes with a guy. I'm like, look, we want me
- 14:04Speaker 4: to tell him? Oh, sorry, Bill, against the rules. I
- 14:06Speaker 4: don't even know what that I'm even doing here. I
- 14:08Speaker 4: didn't even know what the wide receiver formation was. I
- 14:10Speaker 4: remember the Giants too. They had a guy who stood
- 14:14Speaker 4: like behind this like little like half wall and only
- 14:17Speaker 4: showed his eyes the entire time. I don't know, maybe
- 14:19Speaker 4: they're trying to freak me out. I don't know.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And then that old school Coughlin, right, Coughlin just probably
- 14:23Speaker 2: had some guy he's had with him for like thirty years.
- 14:25Speaker 2: He's like just there at those kids.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Yeah, everyone was like kind of normal. Asked me a question, Lily,
- 14:31Speaker 4: here's the wall, and his eyes are just like this
- 14:32Speaker 4: staring at you. And you always hear some of these funny,
- 14:35Speaker 4: like funny, weird stories that come out, so I just
- 14:37Speaker 4: remember that one explicitly. And then I remember he's like,
- 14:40Speaker 4: do you own a gun? And I was like yes,
- 14:42Speaker 4: And then all of a sudden, I see the eyes
- 14:44Speaker 4: that come up and everyone says, like what, and then
- 14:46Speaker 4: they started asking a bunch of questions about guns. I'm like,
- 14:49Speaker 4: have one, I've shot one, Like that's it. I just
- 14:52Speaker 4: remember the guy's eyes that he like heared his whole
- 14:54Speaker 4: fix up at that point. The whole experience is so weird,
- 14:57Speaker 4: and I can definitely say like after him, like what
- 14:59Speaker 4: is like, I'm like, it sucks. It's not that fun.
- 15:03Speaker 4: It's a cool experience to say you did it, but
- 15:05Speaker 4: it is not what it's hyped up to be. From
- 15:08Speaker 4: the audience, perspective.
- 15:09Speaker 2: From the fan perspective, I'll say, it's just cool seeing
- 15:13Speaker 2: your peers like when I was your age again, you're
- 15:15Speaker 2: a year younger than me. It's just cool seeing people
- 15:17Speaker 2: your age becoming millionaires. I think that's the hype where
- 15:20Speaker 2: it's like, it's crazy watching a dude who looks like me,
- 15:23Speaker 2: who's my age, who's a freak athlete that I grew
- 15:25Speaker 2: up with, become a millionaire. I think that's definitely the
- 15:28Speaker 2: hype where it's like, you know, we all daydream we
- 15:30Speaker 2: all have those dreams as kids. We're gonna be that guys,
- 15:32Speaker 2: And it's crazy. You go from being a high schooler
- 15:34Speaker 2: to a millionaire in the NFL in three years if
- 15:37Speaker 2: you're like a freak athlete. Even Sam Bradford, like those
- 15:40Speaker 2: crazy days, remember what do you get like eighty million?
- 15:43Speaker 2: It's like crazy to think that was happening.
- 15:45Speaker 4: That's why I back then, I like, whatever you want, sure,
- 15:49Speaker 4: go ahead, Yeah right, you're gonna make me a millionaire.
- 15:52Speaker 4: I've never had any You don't have the nil deals, no,
- 15:55Speaker 4: no nil deals. I had more than like my stipend
- 15:58Speaker 4: in my bank accounts. I was like, we're going to
- 16:00Speaker 4: pay like ten thirty six a month to make that work.
- 16:03Speaker 4: So I was like cool, I had like at times
- 16:05Speaker 4: like twelve eighteen hundred dollars my bank Acount'm like this
- 16:07Speaker 4: is amazing. I'm living high. And then now you're telling
- 16:10Speaker 4: me like in the NFL, like you're gonna get like
- 16:12Speaker 4: a fat check. I'm like you sure do. Yeah, tell
- 16:14Speaker 4: whatever position want we play, great, I'll learn it. Yeah,
- 16:16Speaker 4: just draft me and I'll take it.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 1: But at one point, you signed a contract to be
- 16:20Speaker 1: the highest paid offensive lineman in NFL history.
- 16:25Speaker 3: How do you celebrate that night?
- 16:28Speaker 4: Well, fortunately it was my third deal, so I kind
- 16:33Speaker 4: of already had like the big bump before that felt
- 16:37Speaker 4: amazing and it's funny. I remember, like I didn't really
- 16:40Speaker 4: do too much, to be honest with you. I just
- 16:41Speaker 4: remember when I knew the deal was done. I remember
- 16:44Speaker 4: calling my brother. My brother played in the league, and
- 16:45Speaker 4: he was like he was he had a different story
- 16:47Speaker 4: than me, Like he got cut thirteen times on seven
- 16:50Speaker 4: different teams, practice squad to like a special teamer like
- 16:54Speaker 4: bubble guy the entire time. Remember when I saw my
- 16:56Speaker 4: second deal, he was like over the moon, elated with
- 17:00Speaker 4: a lot of emotion, and I just was like, yes, cool,
- 17:02Speaker 4: Like I'm not trying to be like a dick about it.
- 17:04Speaker 4: I'm like I really appreciate it, Like this is really
- 17:06Speaker 4: cool that like all my effort got put towards something.
- 17:08Speaker 4: But I'm like, there's a lot more. There's a lot
- 17:10Speaker 4: more for me to feel like I'm really starting to
- 17:11Speaker 4: scratch the surface of what I can become and what
- 17:13Speaker 4: I can do. So I'm gonna keep going. And I
- 17:15Speaker 4: remember for this that deal was the historic one. That's
- 17:19Speaker 4: the one I remember calling him and then saying like
- 17:21Speaker 4: that second deal that was for you, this one's for me,
- 17:24Speaker 4: and like we were laughing about it. And then I
- 17:25Speaker 4: just remember sitting in my car because I signed like
- 17:28Speaker 4: the day before a game, so we had night meetings,
- 17:30Speaker 4: and I remember just kind of finally having a moment
- 17:32Speaker 4: to myself, away from my agent, away from my at
- 17:35Speaker 4: the time a girl from a fiance. I can't remember
- 17:37Speaker 4: if I proposed her yet, just finally was by myself, and
- 17:40Speaker 4: I just remember just like laughing and crying borderline hysterically,
- 17:43Speaker 4: just being like you, son of a bitch, you did it,
- 17:45Speaker 4: good job. And then I had like my like little
- 17:48Speaker 4: two moments to myself. I'm like Okay, cool, all right,
- 17:50Speaker 4: now let's go back to work. Let's go, let's go
- 17:51Speaker 4: earn this thing.
- 17:52Speaker 1: What do your teammates say to you when that happens.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Like Aaron Rodgers is a lightning rod of controversy, you
- 17:59Speaker 1: next to him always made him seem more human, more friendly,
- 18:04Speaker 1: like a dude that people could get along with. How
- 18:07Speaker 1: do teammates react to you when you're walking into the
- 18:10Speaker 1: building that day? Do you give a guy like Aaron Rodgers,
- 18:13Speaker 1: who you've been protecting, a gift for helping you get
- 18:18Speaker 1: to that deal? What's the response from people on your team?
- 18:21Speaker 4: I mean, usually the go tos is big money, let
- 18:23Speaker 4: me hold, let me hold a little piece of that congratulations.
- 18:27Speaker 4: I mean, at the end of the day, all of
- 18:28Speaker 4: us are excited, like not on these teammates, but like
- 18:30Speaker 4: we're all just players in the league at the end
- 18:32Speaker 4: of the day, and our whole goal is to perform
- 18:34Speaker 4: dual for the team. But there is a business component,
- 18:37Speaker 4: so all of us want to see money in the
- 18:39Speaker 4: player's pockets and not in the organization pockets. So no
- 18:42Speaker 4: matter what, I don't think anyone's not happy for a player.
- 18:45Speaker 4: So a lot of that, And then I mean I
- 18:49Speaker 4: guess for Aaron, like, hell, I'm not getting that guy
- 18:50Speaker 4: a gift, Like he made me work so goddamn hard
- 18:54Speaker 4: for that money. If I had another quarterback, would have
- 18:55Speaker 4: been a lot easier to get that from how he
- 18:57Speaker 4: plays the position. But I definitely pushed me to show
- 19:02Speaker 4: off as much as I could do. No, but a
- 19:04Speaker 4: guy like him, you know, he's he's so always calm
- 19:08Speaker 4: and cool that I just remember he was just like ingrats.
- 19:10Speaker 4: You know, he gave me like a little quiet like
- 19:12Speaker 4: congrats buddy, like doesn't feel good to be up here
- 19:15Speaker 4: with me, and that I think that he didn't say that,
- 19:19Speaker 4: but that's like kind of like the feeling like I
- 19:21Speaker 4: know what you're experiencing and then kind of give me
- 19:24Speaker 4: a little hugg and we just kind of man, it's
- 19:25Speaker 4: just business as usual.
- 19:27Speaker 2: My view of Aaron is we all have friends like Aaron, Right,
- 19:30Speaker 2: We all grew up with a buddy who loves Joe
- 19:33Speaker 2: Rogan and they love conspiracies and they say crazy stuff.
- 19:35Speaker 2: But at the end of the day, you know, you
- 19:37Speaker 2: have a lot of stuff in common with him. Like
- 19:38Speaker 2: I can tell you guys just weren't football field friends, right,
- 19:42Speaker 2: You guys chilled off the field, like, you know, you
- 19:44Speaker 2: know him in a way more personal level than most
- 19:46Speaker 2: people know him. What's his outview on this year? Like
- 19:49Speaker 2: it feels like he's going full killer mode coming to
- 19:51Speaker 2: this jets here where it's like he's heard so much doubt.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Have you ever seen him as motivated as he is
- 19:56Speaker 2: this year ahead of the season, where it's like he's
- 19:58Speaker 2: just taken all of the doubt and put it into
- 20:00Speaker 2: this year.
- 20:01Speaker 4: I think Aaron performs best with doubt. I think he
- 20:04Speaker 4: converts it into energy in a really positive way. And
- 20:07Speaker 4: then if you just kind of follow his career and
- 20:11Speaker 4: I always have the prefaces I love speaking for him
- 20:13Speaker 4: because he hates people speaking for him. So I get
- 20:16Speaker 4: mad at me for us being like, you don't know
- 20:17Speaker 4: what's going on my head. You know, I'm in control
- 20:20Speaker 4: of myself. You don't fucking get it. I digress. You know,
- 20:23Speaker 4: he was doubted in college. He was out in high school,
- 20:26Speaker 4: dat in college, going to beute, doubted in cal Doubted
- 20:29Speaker 4: at the draft night, embarrassed at the draft night. You know,
- 20:32Speaker 4: dad on the Packers with Brett, and then you know,
- 20:36Speaker 4: I just wanted to start proving everyone. So I think
- 20:38Speaker 4: he does really well in that scenario, and you know,
- 20:39Speaker 4: even when new coach comes in and then they draft
- 20:43Speaker 4: you know, first round quarterback first time they did that,
- 20:46Speaker 4: and then you know he rat a lost back back
- 20:48Speaker 4: MVPs like he does very well with that. I think
- 20:51Speaker 4: the history speaks for me to make that statement, you know,
- 20:55Speaker 4: going into this, I think he same dynamic. I think
- 20:57Speaker 4: a lot of doubt age is creeping in. He understands,
- 21:00Speaker 4: you know, time's on on the side anymore. You know,
- 21:03Speaker 4: he's definitely on the back night in the you know,
- 21:06Speaker 4: last couple holes. So I think for him, he's trying
- 21:08Speaker 4: to maximize everything he's got, you know, being on a
- 21:10Speaker 4: Jets organization that hasn't had a lot of success and
- 21:13Speaker 4: having trying to turn over the entire franchise and make
- 21:16Speaker 4: it more of a winning culture. But I think I
- 21:18Speaker 4: think he does well with more stress and more weight.
- 21:20Speaker 4: I don't think he always should have to do that,
- 21:22Speaker 4: but he does love the Superman superhero paradox. So long
- 21:28Speaker 4: winded way of saying, yeah, I think he's can do
- 21:30Speaker 4: pretty well this year.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Can you think of plays? I'm sure you can.
- 21:34Speaker 1: You're in Green Bay and you're playing with him and
- 21:37Speaker 1: you're seeing him do things that you had never seen,
- 21:41Speaker 1: didn't think a quarterback could do that were outside versus
- 21:46Speaker 1: other things you've ever experienced.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I can tell you two quick stories about that.
- 21:50Speaker 4: One is when I first got on the team and
- 21:53Speaker 4: I was playing tackle. I remember when I finally started
- 21:57Speaker 4: like playing with like with the ones in playing with Aaron.
- 22:01Speaker 4: I remember like a guy kind of beat me. I
- 22:02Speaker 4: was like, ohit, like I'm running Arond the quarterback of
- 22:04Speaker 4: ten yards like a sack and the quarterback wasn't there,
- 22:08Speaker 4: and I was like, this is amazing. Like college, like
- 22:10Speaker 4: if I got that turling corner, like you know, twelve eleven,
- 22:13Speaker 4: ten yards, like this is sack because they'd have no
- 22:15Speaker 4: idea of pocket presence. But having a guy that you
- 22:18Speaker 4: know is also really detailed and really good at his job,
- 22:21Speaker 4: I just didn't compute it. Did It didn't really make
- 22:23Speaker 4: sense to me. But seeing him operate and then I
- 22:26Speaker 4: remember him throwing a making a throw to Jermichael Finley
- 22:29Speaker 4: and then him like one hand catching, I was like, dude,
- 22:31Speaker 4: this is so sick. Everyone's really good. I just never
- 22:34Speaker 4: I've never been around that. Like I won like thirteen
- 22:36Speaker 4: games in my four years at Colorado, so I hadn't
- 22:39Speaker 4: really been around much like high end talent, so I
- 22:42Speaker 4: was pretty ignorant to the idea of so much good
- 22:45Speaker 4: talent around me. So that's one thing being kind of
- 22:49Speaker 4: odd and seeing him make amazing throws. Two was I
- 22:52Speaker 4: remember having a talk with the GM now Brian Goodagainst
- 22:56Speaker 4: and he had said with all the scouts, he always
- 22:59Speaker 4: tell them when you go on to practice and in
- 23:03Speaker 4: they're in the evaluation of quarterbacks for the day, you
- 23:07Speaker 4: can evaluate Aaron like everyone else because he's going to
- 23:10Speaker 4: make one throw day that's going to completely ruin your
- 23:12Speaker 4: entire scale and grading an idea of uh evaluating quarterbacks.
- 23:17Speaker 4: And he has to always I remember him saying that
- 23:19Speaker 4: I have to prefaice that and make it important because
- 23:21Speaker 4: every day we go down there, there's always one places
- 23:24Speaker 4: he makes that's absolutely insane. Like some of his cool
- 23:26Speaker 4: stuff I think he's done might have happened in practice.
- 23:30Speaker 4: Some cool things obviously have made it in the games.
- 23:32Speaker 4: But if it gives you any indication, he does that
- 23:35Speaker 4: in practice all the time.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Simon, can you name the fastest growing ticketing app in
- 23:40Speaker 1: the United States?
- 23:42Speaker 2: Game Time?
- 23:43Speaker 1: That's right, It's game Time. I love Game Time for
- 23:45Speaker 1: two reasons. First, they still sponsor this show. Second, I
- 23:49Speaker 1: actually use game Time all the time. They have amazing
- 23:52Speaker 1: last minute deals including pro and college sports. Speaking of which,

- 23:59Speaker 1: house here in Connectic. Guess what I can get in

- 24:26Speaker 2: My favorite Rodgers thing which I think Jordan Love is
- 24:28Speaker 2: taking apart, which again I love to ask you about.
- 24:31Speaker 2: But is that bunny hop like one foot flick of
- 24:33Speaker 2: the wrist. I mean, I can his visual edge right now,
- 24:36Speaker 2: Jordan Nelson corner pocket of the end zone, and it
- 24:39Speaker 2: feels like Jordan Love has taken that part of his game.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Like if you watch Jordan Love again. I don't know
- 24:44Speaker 2: the most about quarterbacks, but I know footwork is key.
- 24:47Speaker 2: He will literally have the most unstable footwork. Jordan Love
- 24:51Speaker 2: just like Rodgers would he could throw off his back foot, Like,
- 24:53Speaker 2: did you see similarities in practice between that? I mean,
- 24:55Speaker 2: that's it's definitely something he's taken apart from Rogers, who
- 24:59Speaker 2: made his own part of it game where Jordan, you know,
- 25:01Speaker 2: off balanced throws. He's really improved from college to where
- 25:04Speaker 2: he's at and his first year as a starter.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I think just from what I know of Jordan
- 25:11Speaker 4: a lot of potential. A growth pick was awesome because
- 25:15Speaker 4: he'd be able to sit for three years behind the
- 25:18Speaker 4: Hall of Famer.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Like, that's the crazy part is he learned, like you
- 25:20Speaker 2: got to see the best of the best every day
- 25:23Speaker 2: at practice and film. It's it's like, it is crazy
- 25:25Speaker 2: how lucky that is.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Yeah, to be honest, and this is respectful, I don't
- 25:32Speaker 4: think anyone really saw how good Jordan was in practice.
- 25:35Speaker 4: I think Jordan's more of a gamer. And also it's
- 25:38Speaker 4: kind of polarizingly tough to evaluate a guy like Jordan
- 25:41Speaker 4: when he's constantly around Aaron.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Probably.
- 25:44Speaker 4: To be honest and this, I'm saying, Jordan is a
- 25:46Speaker 4: very good quarterback. He's gonna do a lot of really
- 25:48Speaker 4: good things in the league. And I think you're seeing
- 25:50Speaker 4: the beginning of his career, starting right now. But when
- 25:53Speaker 4: you're always, like I said, it's hard to evaluate quarterbacks
- 25:56Speaker 4: when you're around Aaron, and I had been accustomed to
- 25:59Speaker 4: seeing what Aaron was doing all the time. It's tough
- 26:01Speaker 4: to really see how good he is when you have
- 26:06Speaker 4: Aaron doing just the most absurd things all the time.
- 26:08Speaker 4: He really flicks his wrist and go sixty yards and
- 26:11Speaker 4: you never really see ducks come out of Aaron's hands.
- 26:13Speaker 4: Where Jordan very good quarterbacks, sometimes you're gonna throw a
- 26:16Speaker 4: little more of the ducks, a little more like throws
- 26:19Speaker 4: that aren't like in perfect step again extremely efficient. But
- 26:23Speaker 4: that's where like the hard trying to like separate, he's
- 26:27Speaker 4: still a very good quarterback. There's just a difference, Like
- 26:29Speaker 4: Aaron is like a just in a different class int
- 26:31Speaker 4: and of itself. I think that's why everyone starts talking,
- 26:33Speaker 4: you know, puts up with is he the best? The best? Ever?
- 26:35Speaker 4: Plays only when won Super Bowl? You know you got
- 26:37Speaker 4: guys of one, like how many is Tom won? Six seven?
- 26:40Speaker 4: I don't even know at this point he does.
- 26:42Speaker 2: Own the hell of Maria though we'll give we have
- 26:43Speaker 2: rogers that he is the king of Hell Mary like
- 26:46Speaker 2: I try to explain to my younger cousin. I was like, dude,
- 26:48Speaker 2: you don't get it, Like you have to go on
- 26:50Speaker 2: YouTube and watch Aaron Rodgers. Hell Mary's people throw up
- 26:53Speaker 2: a prayer. He is throwing with accuracy sixty seventy yards
- 26:56Speaker 2: downfield to a.
- 26:56Speaker 4: Guy, and not to mention that's with more than one
- 26:59Speaker 4: broken collar room like his. He is fucking impressive, it is,
- 27:06Speaker 4: and I'm honored to say I got to play with
- 27:08Speaker 4: him now. Again, going back to the comparison, I think
- 27:10Speaker 4: the best thing that Aaron did for Jordan was like,
- 27:14Speaker 4: don't do me, no need to do me. Just be
- 27:17Speaker 4: comfortable and play and understand the game, Understand how defenses
- 27:20Speaker 4: run there, how they run their coverages, understand the whole
- 27:26Speaker 4: operation of the offense. And then he's like, just be comfortable.
- 27:29Speaker 4: So I think a lot of like the feet the
- 27:31Speaker 4: footworks ouf that you're talking about, I really think that's
- 27:33Speaker 4: more of just Jordan watching Aaron and just feeling comfortable. Okay,
- 27:37Speaker 4: I can add this, but he never The thing I
- 27:39Speaker 4: really appreciate about Jordan never you never saw him try
- 27:41Speaker 4: to be like Aaron. It just whatever ended up being
- 27:45Speaker 4: natural was great. And I always remember hearing Aaron say
- 27:48Speaker 4: certain things like you just whatever's most comfortable for you,
- 27:51Speaker 4: Like that's what you gotta do. You gotta be the best.
- 27:52Speaker 4: You don't try and be like me. And I do
- 27:54Speaker 4: remember seeing a lot of quarterbacks over my time they
- 27:57Speaker 4: tried to be like Aaron, Like you could see them
- 28:00Speaker 4: actively like trying and practicing, like there's only one Aeron.
- 28:05Speaker 4: You got to be the best you. And this is
- 28:07Speaker 4: where I think is most important. Never try to become
- 28:09Speaker 4: someone else. Maybe take the idea, but you have to
- 28:12Speaker 4: you have to make it your own. And I think
- 28:13Speaker 4: that's what Jordan did really well. Like there's certain things
- 28:15Speaker 4: Jordan does that's completely opposite of what Aaron does, like
- 28:19Speaker 4: timing of the throw and staying within the system. I
- 28:21Speaker 4: think Aaron loved going off schedule. I think Jordan, you know, again,
- 28:24Speaker 4: he's younger, so maybe he feels more obligated too at
- 28:27Speaker 4: this this point in time. But that's one thing I
- 28:30Speaker 4: remember when we were playing well before I got surgery
- 28:34Speaker 4: last year, that that was one thing that he did
- 28:36Speaker 4: really well. He stays within the system, a lot more
- 28:40Speaker 4: hits off hitches off his back foot and that ball's
- 28:42Speaker 4: coming out and he's just gonna say, all right, screw it,
- 28:44Speaker 4: this is where the coach that's supposed to be there.
- 28:45Speaker 4: I'm just gonna just pipe it right here and whatever
- 28:46Speaker 4: happens happens. Whereas Aaron, that's where the magic happens. It's
- 28:50Speaker 4: a double edged sword. You hate it, but you love it.
- 28:53Speaker 4: And that's why you never count him out because you
- 28:55Speaker 4: have no eight because he can do everything, so he
- 28:58Speaker 4: wants to do anything because he can do everything.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Well, there is something I bet when you're an offensive
- 29:02Speaker 1: lineman knowing who you're blocking for and knowing the ability
- 29:08Speaker 1: of that player, but also in the confidence you'll have
- 29:12Speaker 1: down to the final seconds sustaining that block for the
- 29:16Speaker 1: extra tenth of the second to allow someone to step
- 29:19Speaker 1: up in the pocket because you know what they're capable
- 29:21Speaker 1: of doing no matter where you are in the field.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Yeah, the the game changes, I think, particularly talking offensive
- 29:31Speaker 4: line play, certain guys you can definitely play differently. I
- 29:38Speaker 4: don't think you can. How to evaluate offense line is tough.
- 29:42Speaker 4: It is more you can't look at statistics because they,
- 29:46Speaker 4: to be honest, I think it tells a very small
- 29:48Speaker 4: fraction of the actual story. You could take certain offense
- 29:52Speaker 4: line and you think are great past protectors, and I
- 29:54Speaker 4: would look at it and I can tell you strap
- 29:56Speaker 4: the bat. There's probably a small handful of guys i'd
- 29:58Speaker 4: actually feel comfortable. I'm like, go play for go play
- 30:02Speaker 4: for a guy that holds the ball for longer than
- 30:04Speaker 4: two point five seconds, or like a guy like Aaron
- 30:06Speaker 4: during not he's definitely gotten quicker with his release. He
- 30:09Speaker 4: has a great release, No, but his ability to hold
- 30:12Speaker 4: the ball now is not as much as he used
- 30:13Speaker 4: to back in his prime. I don't think people will
- 30:18Speaker 4: be talking about a certain linemen with the same amount
- 30:20Speaker 4: of respect because it's extremely tough. But I was thankful
- 30:23Speaker 4: because it made me. It forced me to someone's got
- 30:27Speaker 4: to do it and if it's not gonna be using me,
- 30:28Speaker 4: someone else, and that it forced me to become so
- 30:30Speaker 4: freaking good at passpro and like step my game up
- 30:33Speaker 4: because if not, he's gonna get smoked or I'm gonna
- 30:35Speaker 4: get yelled at everything. You can't blame this guy. It's
- 30:38Speaker 4: always gonna be the line like if Aaron ends up
- 30:41Speaker 4: moving wrong in the pocket and I get bull rushed,
- 30:43Speaker 4: but he's like fading over to me, my coach would
- 30:45Speaker 4: be like stoppin buller. So far like, does anyone want
- 30:48Speaker 4: to tell this guy to have a proper drop back.
- 30:50Speaker 4: That's why Tom Brady amazing, Alex Smith, Alex Smith and
- 30:54Speaker 4: Tom Brady by far some of the best quarterbacks to
- 30:57Speaker 4: play for. In his old lineman's dream gonn it's run
- 30:59Speaker 4: heavy first play action, they're touching like eight and a
- 31:03Speaker 4: half nine yards with their back foot, they're stepping up
- 31:05Speaker 4: to almost five yards. They're tall enough, like Tom can
- 31:07Speaker 4: see over everybody, and he's always dishing the bat and
- 31:10Speaker 4: it's like, first two reads are gone, don't go broke
- 31:12Speaker 4: taking a profit. I'm gonna check it down. We're gonna
- 31:13Speaker 4: live to fight another day. Tom has made so many
- 31:16Speaker 4: linemen so rich, and then when they get broke off
- 31:19Speaker 4: go somewhere else. You don't really hear much about them
- 31:20Speaker 4: because then it's like you gotta like my age old saying,
- 31:24Speaker 4: is a pass block for dough, run block for show,
- 31:27Speaker 4: I really get exposed. And that's where like, if you
- 31:30Speaker 4: have a quarterback that plays a little bit out of
- 31:31Speaker 4: the system or does that like you have a tough living.
- 31:34Speaker 4: So again, it's really hard. I think there's so much
- 31:36Speaker 4: more to offensive line play that I think goes unknowsed
- 31:39Speaker 4: that I'm spoken in, and I think a lot of people,
- 31:42Speaker 4: even in a lot of analysts, I don't think Frank,
- 31:44Speaker 4: I don't think they don't think they really know what
- 31:45Speaker 4: the fuck they're talking about. Honestly, I'll say some offensive
- 31:47Speaker 4: lineman X offense lineman when they talk because I sit here,
- 31:50Speaker 4: I'm like, God, it's a terrible take. God, you are
- 31:52Speaker 4: just jones and so hard for this dude, like you
- 31:54Speaker 4: just wanted to be your friend so bad and that honestly,
- 31:57Speaker 4: that shit fucking Like now that I'm I'm closer to
- 31:59Speaker 4: being the and done, like I'm gonna start calling these
- 32:01Speaker 4: guys out like it is fucking like those guys are
- 32:02Speaker 4: so lame. I'm like, save he's good or bad, save's
- 32:06Speaker 4: got brickfeet or not. It's put them off because you
- 32:09Speaker 4: want him to come on your now new podcast, or
- 32:11Speaker 4: you want to be friends with them so you can
- 32:12Speaker 4: be an analyst and have your or whatever, Like yeah,
- 32:14Speaker 4: get out of here, loser, Like that's you. Like that
- 32:16Speaker 4: stuff really grinds meet. You got me motivated. You have
- 32:18Speaker 4: me motivated talking about this.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Well, Listen, I do love your Twitter feed because it
- 32:22Speaker 1: is so unfiltered and literally everything you can talk about
- 32:26Speaker 1: the turf field versus the grass field. Pretty much any
- 32:30Speaker 1: subject that is being discussed, football or otherwise, it is
- 32:33Speaker 1: a full on blast.
- 32:34Speaker 3: You should go be an analyst.
- 32:36Speaker 4: I don't know. Part of me wants to hate to
- 32:38Speaker 4: say it might be too easy. I may I maybe
- 32:41Speaker 4: want to challenge myself more by going into something I
- 32:44Speaker 4: really have no idea and really getting humbled, like I
- 32:47Speaker 4: felt like that's how I felt with football.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I'm a sports bet with us. Brother, that's will humble
- 32:51Speaker 2: you real quick.
- 32:52Speaker 4: Yeah, no sports betting, Like I'm gonna be honest, I don't.
- 32:55Speaker 4: You're not supposed to, so I guess. Yeah.
- 32:57Speaker 2: Yeah. We had Chris long On. He talked about it.
- 32:58Speaker 4: He was like, I know what I was walking in
- 33:00Speaker 4: though I don't, and that shit scares me because yeah,
- 33:04Speaker 4: I know of the insider information and I still don't
- 33:07Speaker 4: understand the outcomes. So I don't know how these certain
- 33:11Speaker 4: lines are so good and like what's prestaurant? But like
- 33:14Speaker 4: I'm in there learning all week, hearing the game plan,
- 33:17Speaker 4: no one what's up, and I still don't understand how,
- 33:19Speaker 4: like like nothing ends up coming to what I see
- 33:23Speaker 4: things forthwith, So I'm like, I don't know how people
- 33:24Speaker 4: even get a beat on that like that, well you
- 33:26Speaker 4: lived it like you were in some Green Bay games
- 33:28Speaker 4: where you guys were huge favorites. And obviously, you know
- 33:31Speaker 4: football any given sun to anything can happen. But to
- 33:33Speaker 4: the outside viewer, they're like, I'll never know how Aaron
- 33:36Speaker 4: Rodgers lost that game and how Green Bay didn't win
- 33:38Speaker 4: that game.
- 33:38Speaker 2: Where it's just like, that's sports. That's why we love
- 33:41Speaker 2: this thing. Where it's like there's more to it than
- 33:44Speaker 2: just one on one. Right, it's football such a team
- 33:46Speaker 2: thing where it's the coaching game plan to the players
- 33:48Speaker 2: in the field, to the right scheme. Where that's why
- 33:50Speaker 2: again me and Chad we bet it. We love it.
- 33:53Speaker 2: You live it like as a player, you know it
- 33:54Speaker 2: is where people's like people are like, well, you guys
- 33:56Speaker 2: were a big favorite. You're like, no, we weren't like
- 33:58Speaker 2: those guys. We're just as good of us. They run
- 34:01Speaker 2: a great scheme like they have our numbers. So you know,
- 34:04Speaker 2: from your perspective, that's that's probably one of the toughest
- 34:06Speaker 2: parts of it.
- 34:06Speaker 4: Right, That's why I'm so scared of it because I
- 34:09Speaker 4: know so much about sports, yet it's so and I
- 34:12Speaker 4: know how unpredictable. It can be. That's why I'm I'm
- 34:15Speaker 4: not putting no money behind any of that because I
- 34:19Speaker 4: don't know how you can even it. Just that's a
- 34:22Speaker 4: frighten to me. I will say this though, We'll say this,
- 34:25Speaker 4: when it comes to betting, referees can totally influence a game.
- 34:29Speaker 4: I don't know if a player could, even if he
- 34:31Speaker 4: knows whatever lines and this stuff like that could be
- 34:33Speaker 4: tough unless you're seeing like sabotaging side point shaving things
- 34:36Speaker 4: like that. You know, shout out uh Falco, but uh
- 34:40Speaker 4: refs for sure, like you could totally. And it's starting
- 34:43Speaker 4: to make me more skeptical. The older I'm getting, the
- 34:46Speaker 4: more I'm seeing like some of these stupid calls, and
- 34:48Speaker 4: like I understand the impact, like to be honest, having
- 34:51Speaker 4: a holding call in the regular season which is completely ambiguous,
- 34:55Speaker 4: and I hate holdings and I think they're dumb.
- 34:57Speaker 2: What about the Chiefs and No. Two Super Bowls in
- 34:59Speaker 2: a row, zero holding calls on their offensive line? Which
- 35:02Speaker 2: review of that going against a forty nine Ers defensive
- 35:04Speaker 2: line and the Eagles defensive line zero holds.
- 35:07Speaker 4: I know when it comes to playoffs, the rest are
- 35:09Speaker 4: always gonna let you play like, oh no, and this
- 35:11Speaker 4: is I'll say it, Jean Sterator, my favorite fucking rep
- 35:14Speaker 4: up all hockey. Los guys suck it.
- 35:19Speaker 2: Jean's the man.
- 35:20Speaker 4: Dean is the man. I remember him literally coming up
- 35:23Speaker 4: when we were bitching him out the Cowboy game. We're like,
- 35:25Speaker 4: we saw these flags, like Aaron and said, he goes,
- 35:27Speaker 4: why don't you say anything about these other fucking flags.
- 35:29Speaker 4: He was all pissed off, and Gene comes up, super chill,
- 35:32Speaker 4: super cool. He goes, look, we already had this call.
- 35:35Speaker 4: We have the other calls against your guys in the team.
- 35:37Speaker 4: I didn't want the fucking fans. You know already they
- 35:39Speaker 4: already hate us. I don't want to hate us off
- 35:41Speaker 4: set and Aaron, let's just go play. And then then
- 35:43Speaker 4: Aaron Sis goes all right, Gene, thanks, but like he's
- 35:47Speaker 4: just so just chilling cool and like he's a big
- 35:49Speaker 4: like let you play. And that's what I know. Playoffs
- 35:52Speaker 4: are like they're gonna let you get away with a
- 35:53Speaker 4: lot more. It's like you gotta fucking fight twin. I
- 35:55Speaker 4: think that's why you see DB's grab a hold a
- 35:57Speaker 4: little more because I don't and this is my perno belief.
- 36:00Speaker 4: I think dB should hold. Let's not stop babying wide receivers.
- 36:04Speaker 4: And I think the rules are in place because this
- 36:07Speaker 4: is now just my opinion. I think rules are in
- 36:09Speaker 4: place because Goodell and the NFL know that more people
- 36:13Speaker 4: are going to tune into higher scoring games because that's
- 36:15Speaker 4: what's fun. So if we can change, even tweaking just
- 36:18Speaker 4: the rules a little bit, you're gonna change how the
- 36:20Speaker 4: outcome and how the game is played. And that's why
- 36:22Speaker 4: I think. I just think that's messed up. And that's
- 36:24Speaker 4: why I go back to, like in playoffs, like you
- 36:27Speaker 4: just gotta let him play. You gotta letdv's hold little more,
- 36:29Speaker 4: you can let offense line and hold. But I do
- 36:30Speaker 4: think that that is a direct like indication. Talking about
- 36:33Speaker 4: refs of two Super Bowls with the Chiefs, no holding
- 36:36Speaker 4: is like and if you're get like they call holding
- 36:38Speaker 4: on Trent. I thought that was a bs Mike. You
- 36:39Speaker 4: gotta if you're gonna call that one, you have the
- 36:41Speaker 4: hunters and call the one and Donald Smith not the
- 36:43Speaker 4: one where he's bear hugging Bosa when he spun. That's legal.
- 36:45Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. Guys are stupid if the guy's
- 36:47Speaker 4: gonna spin and he have the back of his breastplate
- 36:49Speaker 4: facing you. You can totally hold on that thing all day.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Holding is once your feet are beat, you can borderline, borderline,
- 36:56Speaker 4: hug it, dude, as long as your feet aren't beat
- 36:58Speaker 4: the guy that that's what he wants to do, going
- 37:00Speaker 4: into your body like by all means, because the rulebook is,
- 37:03Speaker 4: once your hands get outside of the frame of your body,
- 37:05Speaker 4: you gotta let him go.
- 37:06Speaker 1: It does seem like this year offensive lineman and tackles
- 37:09Speaker 1: on the edge, we're getting further and further off the
- 37:13Speaker 1: line of scrimmage and cheating on the snap by a
- 37:17Speaker 1: quarter of a second just to be able to open
- 37:21Speaker 1: up and get to the edge a little bit faster
- 37:24Speaker 1: against a defensive end who has such a head start
- 37:27Speaker 1: or who just might be faster and stronger than they are.
- 37:30Speaker 1: Did you notice some differences? This felt like a narrative
- 37:33Speaker 1: this year in the NFL more than any year before.
- 37:36Speaker 4: Yeah, because what's his nuts? Is an idiot? Who's the
- 37:38Speaker 4: chief's right tackle?
- 37:39Speaker 3: Jowan Taylor, Juan Taylor, there it is.
- 37:41Speaker 4: He's an idiot. He really fucked it up. He took
- 37:44Speaker 4: something that is good and within the rules, and bastards
- 37:47Speaker 4: it made it so egregious that now it's like a
- 37:50Speaker 4: mic like you there, we're putting a microscope over the issue.
- 37:53Speaker 4: Your boy with the Eagles, Lane Johnson. He's also started
- 37:56Speaker 4: to bastards it too.
- 37:56Speaker 2: They're gonna say Jason Peters, remember Jason Peters back into
- 37:59Speaker 2: his leg.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Kick when you saying that you get a little bit
- 38:02Speaker 4: further off the ball. But here's my thing. I guess
- 38:05Speaker 4: I'm a little biased, but it's really hard to see
- 38:08Speaker 4: me offsides and if you really slowed down, like I thought,
- 38:12Speaker 4: I'm definitely the best at getting off on the snack
- 38:14Speaker 4: count probably some of the like. And I learned that
- 38:16Speaker 4: from Joe Thomas and Joe Staley within the rules, because
- 38:21Speaker 4: the rule is the moment the ball begins to move,
- 38:23Speaker 4: you can move. But these assholes and now overdone it
- 38:26Speaker 4: and made it so apparent that it like just takes
- 38:29Speaker 4: a good you're ruining good thing. Now they're gonna be
- 38:31Speaker 4: worried about you on the ball, which has already been
- 38:33Speaker 4: an issue that was kind of quiet within like the
- 38:37Speaker 4: the refs had always come like there's so many times
- 38:39Speaker 4: you come up and be like, hey, you're getting warned.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Hey get up, like okay, cool, thank you for talking
- 38:42Speaker 4: to me, Like, work with me. Ref don't just throw
- 38:44Speaker 4: a flag like I'll scoot up for sure, And that's
- 38:46Speaker 4: what you do. You respect the rule, that's what it is.
- 38:48Speaker 4: But like you know, like John Taylor, he's not gonna
- 38:51Speaker 4: get called because it's Patrick Mahomes and everyone wants to
- 38:53Speaker 4: watch pack and home play. So if you just kind
- 38:55Speaker 4: of keep ignoring and keep scooting back and keep getting off,
- 38:58Speaker 4: really like, they're not gonna call a flag. Everyone knows
- 39:00Speaker 4: call flag every game. It's like, I think we know
- 39:03Speaker 4: DB's understand the same thing. They aren't call holding every time.
- 39:05Speaker 4: So like thread the needle, you know, you can get
- 39:10Speaker 4: a little in the gray area, but just don't overdo
- 39:12Speaker 4: it where then it's like, Okay, now we're gonna put
- 39:14Speaker 4: an emphasis on it, and then refs will legitimately ruin games.
- 39:17Speaker 4: And that's where I look at these guys. I'm like,
- 39:20Speaker 4: you guys ruined such a good thing. We had such
- 39:21Speaker 4: a good thing going. It was the best.
- 39:25Speaker 3: I got two more questions for you.
- 39:27Speaker 1: One, who is the one player pass rusher that gave
- 39:36Speaker 1: you the most concerns before a game?
- 39:41Speaker 4: It's tough what year because like my rookie year Alan
- 39:46Speaker 4: Smith was amazing, but I would take my older self
- 39:51Speaker 4: and put me in that situation again, let's face them,
- 39:53Speaker 4: and I think I actually did when he was on
- 39:56Speaker 4: the cow somewhere else, and I fear I fared way better.
- 40:01Speaker 4: But also I don't think he was as good. So
- 40:05Speaker 4: that's I've gotten that question a lot. Who's the best
- 40:08Speaker 4: pass rush of Ragon against I don't know. I've been
- 40:11Speaker 4: I've played a lot of unbelievable guys.
- 40:15Speaker 2: Chad wants you to say Khalil Mack.
- 40:18Speaker 4: No, I'll be on player. Here's the thing, Cli maxophanomen player.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Nothing against him. He's one of the best pure d
- 40:26Speaker 4: ms against to get after the quarterback and also get
- 40:29Speaker 4: off the U to stop the runner. But I'm gonna
- 40:32Speaker 4: be honest, I match up really well against him. And
- 40:34Speaker 4: if you go back film, like you know, I put
- 40:38Speaker 4: the leash on him and I take him for a
- 40:39Speaker 4: walk in past bro and there are a couple of
- 40:41Speaker 4: times in the run game where I'm not known from
- 40:43Speaker 4: a run blocking, but I'm taking him to the ground.
- 40:45Speaker 4: He's complaining to the ref because he wants holding, and
- 40:46Speaker 4: that's when that's when you know you're in a guy's head.
- 40:48Speaker 4: When he's begging the REF to help him out. So though, no,
- 40:54Speaker 4: no disrespect, I think he's a stud. I've seen him
- 40:56Speaker 4: absolutely wreck games and ruined offensive lineman's career. It's just
- 41:00Speaker 4: how he plays matches up really good to me. I'm
- 41:04Speaker 4: trying to think, like.
- 41:05Speaker 2: I'm trying to do the bike gets have anyone to
- 41:06Speaker 2: give you issues. I'm trying to someone in your division
- 41:09Speaker 2: ever since uh ever since Griffin.
- 41:12Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I hate it going against him, but he
- 41:16Speaker 4: also is playing me majority and like my prime and ascension,
- 41:21Speaker 4: so like I fare pretty well against him, but he
- 41:26Speaker 4: was extremely tough. He's up in my top five for sure.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Like I talked off into line and they're like, I
- 41:30Speaker 4: hate a playing because he's just gonna he's gonna he's
- 41:32Speaker 4: gonna try and break your will for sixty minutes. And
- 41:34Speaker 4: he's six foot one six two two seventy five with
- 41:37Speaker 4: a gunner and is just on turf in just five
- 41:40Speaker 4: steps and then just gonna absolutely smoke your face for
- 41:44Speaker 4: sixty minutes. So that sucks. I mean, honestly, Julius Peppers
- 41:48Speaker 4: is up there and I got a chance to play
- 41:50Speaker 4: with him, but I wish it would have played in
- 41:52Speaker 4: his prime, right, you know it's I'm saying I just
- 41:55Speaker 4: so I could really see because even.
- 41:56Speaker 2: If by Jared Allen is prime, did you miss Jared Allen?
- 41:58Speaker 4: I'm saying I played him, but I don't think I
- 42:00Speaker 4: didn't play him in Yeah, I started coming down and
- 42:03Speaker 4: I like, he gave me some fits, but I fared
- 42:06Speaker 4: pretty well against him, so oh man, it's tough. I
- 42:13Speaker 4: can't give you a name. That's how good you are, bro. Yeah, exactly,
- 42:17Speaker 4: disrespectful to to some other guys, like, uh, I can
- 42:21Speaker 4: play some guys. I think their SUTs. I think I
- 42:23Speaker 4: love both the Bosa brothers. I think they're awesome. I
- 42:27Speaker 4: think Miles Garrett is unbelievable. And the last time I played,
- 42:31Speaker 4: the only time I really played him was his rookiear
- 42:34Speaker 4: and it was also one of my best years that
- 42:36Speaker 4: I ever played. But I do remember I'm like, if
- 42:38Speaker 4: this kid can just figure it out, he'll dominate anybody.
- 42:40Speaker 4: Because he was very tough to play, but I had
- 42:43Speaker 4: the better day and better him because just timing, like
- 42:47Speaker 4: I just understood the game better, but I could tell
- 42:49Speaker 4: he was just kind of feeling it out and didn't
- 42:51Speaker 4: really get it. But I'm like, once this guy understands
- 42:53Speaker 4: himself and how to play. He's going to destroy dudes,
- 42:55Speaker 4: and that's what you're seeing today. So tough for me
- 42:59Speaker 4: to just, you know, name one guy.
- 43:03Speaker 3: What last question? Well, I kind of got.
- 43:06Speaker 4: I'm sorry.
- 43:07Speaker 3: I got two more questions.
- 43:08Speaker 4: One is you can go over the time I'm with it.
- 43:11Speaker 3: One is.
- 43:12Speaker 1: One is it's so freaking cold in Green Bay and
- 43:17Speaker 1: the offensive lineman, they always come out they're wearing short sleeves.
- 43:22Speaker 3: And I know it's got to be miserable.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Like, does anyone in the locker room ever say let's
- 43:29Speaker 1: just wear sleeves?
- 43:31Speaker 3: Like, what are we trying to prove here?
- 43:32Speaker 1: I know you don't want anyone to hold on your
- 43:34Speaker 1: sleeves and anything like that, but you can't tell me
- 43:37Speaker 1: that you're looking forward to playing in games like that.
- 43:41Speaker 4: I would rather play in negative degree degrees fahrenheit than
- 43:49Speaker 4: ninety in humidity in Florida.
- 43:51Speaker 2: That's a man, right there, Chad.
- 43:53Speaker 3: That is okay, I I think that is.
- 43:56Speaker 4: That is like here, here's here's my reason for Affin's line,
- 43:59Speaker 4: and then I'll get in sleep thing. Yeah, it gets
- 44:02Speaker 4: really cold, everyone tightens up, everyone slows down, Linemen. We
- 44:08Speaker 4: don't really slow down that much everyone comes down to
- 44:10Speaker 4: our level. We don't really drop because we don't really
- 44:12Speaker 4: have a high top end speed to begin with, so
- 44:16Speaker 4: it's just better. And we're organically and sulated, so we
- 44:18Speaker 4: already run a little bit hotter. So I kind of just,
- 44:20Speaker 4: at least for me, I kind of enjoyed those games.
- 44:22Speaker 4: They no sleep thing. I don't know, it's more of
- 44:24Speaker 4: a mentality. The older ass came in and it was
- 44:26Speaker 4: just kind of like a don't be a bitch. When
- 44:30Speaker 4: I was fucking wearing sleeves, IM all right cool when
- 44:31Speaker 4: I were in sleeves, Like, it's a mindset. So I
- 44:34Speaker 4: didn't and then but I mean you can. You can
- 44:37Speaker 4: find ways around it. Like I had elbow sleeves. I
- 44:40Speaker 4: did that. I covered up like I don't know, a
- 44:42Speaker 4: third of my arms. There's this stuff called like a
- 44:44Speaker 4: warm skin, which is like a borderline like vasaline that
- 44:48Speaker 4: you kind of rub into your arms and it makes
- 44:51Speaker 4: you feel I don't know, kind of warmer. It doesn't
- 44:53Speaker 4: get make your skin better with the being exposed of
- 44:57Speaker 4: cold temperatures. And but I can guarantee you like we had.
- 45:02Speaker 4: We've had a couple of guys like Elton Jenkins. He's
- 45:06Speaker 4: like been begging to wear sleeves, and I think now
- 45:08Speaker 4: that I'm definitely gone, he'll definitely will. And these younger
- 45:09Speaker 4: guys are coming in. It's all about like the swag
- 45:11Speaker 4: and you know, like having like the hand or hand warmer,
- 45:16Speaker 4: like little pocket thing the quarterbacks have on them now
- 45:18Speaker 4: and the shirt's being untucked and so I yeah, they're
- 45:21Speaker 4: gonna definitely rock sleeves. It's it was definitely more like
- 45:24Speaker 4: my generation, the generation before me. I kind of came
- 45:27Speaker 4: in and this is definitely changing because they want to
- 45:28Speaker 4: make sure it looks swaggy and cool.
- 45:30Speaker 3: Well, young kids are so freaking soft. It's just sad.
- 45:34Speaker 4: That's how you know we're old, is because when we
- 45:35Speaker 4: start calling them soft. Yeah, exactly, I'm just gonna say it. Netflix.
- 45:40Speaker 4: I believe that they're going to do an offensive lineman
- 45:43Speaker 4: one because they've done quarterbacks. They did like the receivers
- 45:46Speaker 4: or yeah, it's coming out right, They're gonna do an
- 45:48Speaker 4: offensive line in one, and that's gonna put offense limon
- 45:50Speaker 4: on the map, because I think they're gonna finally realize
- 45:52Speaker 4: that no disrespect, but most guys are pretty boring and
- 45:57Speaker 4: offense linen are honestly fucking hilarious. The amount of characters
- 46:02Speaker 4: that you get, it's like, uh, that ugly dude. So
- 46:06Speaker 4: we've kind of been told that our whole life, and
- 46:07Speaker 4: now we're gone. We're kind of cool around the cool
- 46:09Speaker 4: guys and we everyone's kind of got money and we're
- 46:11Speaker 4: playing professional sports, but we're still just like kind of
- 46:13Speaker 4: like that fatgally like dude. So we're like we all
- 46:16Speaker 4: automatically develop way better personalities where we have jokes like
- 46:20Speaker 4: I don't know why. It's like every ovinse line has
- 46:22Speaker 4: a joke. I don't know why, but that's just kind
- 46:23Speaker 4: of like in our repertoire, and uh, I can definitely
- 46:26Speaker 4: see that airing and then people kind of put an
- 46:28Speaker 4: offense line on that, being like, these guys are unfucking
- 46:31Speaker 4: believable and hilarious even when we're trying not to be,
- 46:34Speaker 4: Like certain guys are super serious, and even by being
- 46:36Speaker 4: super serious, you're super funny. It's just I don't know,
- 46:39Speaker 4: it's just a thing.
- 46:39Speaker 3: Who is your cast?
- 46:41Speaker 4: I want to see Laramie Tunsel. He's probably pretty like.
- 46:43Speaker 4: I also love his game, love him as a tackle.
- 46:46Speaker 4: I think he'll be kind of like more of the
- 46:47Speaker 4: cooler guy because he's got. He's definitely got some swagger
- 46:49Speaker 4: to him and especially how he dresses, and he lives
- 46:52Speaker 4: the good life, so that way you get one dynamic
- 46:54Speaker 4: of him.
- 46:55Speaker 2: The most famous, arguably podcaster is an offensive lineman and
- 46:59Speaker 2: kel So. It's like, I'm not saying altins line are
- 47:02Speaker 2: peeking right now, but yeah, holding someone in sports media
- 47:05Speaker 2: twenty years ago that the biggest podcast would be you know,
- 47:09Speaker 2: Lawan has got a huge podcast, and Kelsey. It's like,
- 47:12Speaker 2: it's pretty crazy. The funniest dudes on the team are
- 47:14Speaker 2: usually the offensive lineman and then the funny ass.
- 47:17Speaker 4: D Tack was a d lineman because the other guy
- 47:20Speaker 4: they're too worried about their image, like wide receivers dbs,
- 47:23Speaker 4: I gotta be cool, so I always gott to look cool,
- 47:25Speaker 4: whereas like fat chubby Detacker, like I'm fat and chubby.
- 47:29Speaker 4: I got paid a bunch of money to be fat
- 47:30Speaker 4: and chubby, so it's gonna have a good old time.
- 47:33Speaker 4: Like if I'm gonna eat this whole kike, I'm gonna
- 47:34Speaker 4: eat this whole kick like not even something you're not
- 47:36Speaker 4: even trying to be funny, but it's hilarious. Just how
- 47:38Speaker 4: like the thought process of it I wish the Packers
- 47:41Speaker 4: way back in the day we ever did a hard
- 47:42Speaker 4: knocks because one, the amount of crazy, stupid acanine shit
- 47:47Speaker 4: that the offensive lineman would do probably would have gotten
- 47:50Speaker 4: the Packers in trouble. To be frank, like, we just
- 47:53Speaker 4: randomly go in, just get like tape a due up
- 47:55Speaker 4: in milli meetings. The amount of times like just like
- 47:57Speaker 4: the four jokes, dumb jokes like drawing dicks and like
- 47:59Speaker 4: the white do this. Any other athletes you ever have
- 48:02Speaker 4: on asked them what the funnest position meeting room is
- 48:06Speaker 4: and if they don't know, that means he never left
- 48:07Speaker 4: a meeting room, which automatically makes them boring. Or two.
- 48:09Speaker 4: Many coaches will always say offense line room is the best,
- 48:13Speaker 4: is the best room always going to. It's always the
- 48:15Speaker 4: most fun, It's always most dynamic. We always had guests,
- 48:18Speaker 4: Like anytime we had a guess if you ever came
- 48:20Speaker 4: in it was your first time in there, you had
- 48:21Speaker 4: to automatically leave. We had a rookie go take you
- 48:23Speaker 4: out and said, what's your name? What school did you
- 48:26Speaker 4: go to? He'd come back in. We turn off all
- 48:28Speaker 4: the lights and then the lights would turn on and
- 48:30Speaker 4: he'd have a microphone. He had to have a bottle
- 48:31Speaker 4: in his hand, and he'd scream from the top of
- 48:33Speaker 4: his lungs like back in w and'd be like and no,
- 48:37Speaker 4: and he'd say his name in his school. And then
- 48:39Speaker 4: we do this whole Da Dad, And we'd have this
- 48:41Speaker 4: whole like take up like a good two minutes. And
- 48:44Speaker 4: then the person that we just introduced they had to
- 48:48Speaker 4: they had to tell us a joke. Then they can
- 48:51Speaker 4: and if they came in for a cup of coffee
- 48:52Speaker 4: to tell a coach one thing or whatever, like if
- 48:55Speaker 4: this could be the head coach, this could be a scout.
- 48:57Speaker 4: It didn't matter. The rules say the same for anybody.
- 49:00Speaker 4: I mean, maybe the GM could probably get away of it,
- 49:01Speaker 4: but even the head coach had to succumb to to
- 49:04Speaker 4: our rules. But that's what like the dynamic of our
- 49:06Speaker 4: room is, and that's what made it.
- 49:08Speaker 3: So much fun.
- 49:12Speaker 1: I always felt like offensive linemen when I was covering
- 49:15Speaker 1: the league and on the road.
- 49:17Speaker 3: They were always the best people to talk to.
- 49:19Speaker 1: They they knew every play, they knew every formation, they
- 49:22Speaker 1: could give every answer, They were closest to the ball.
- 49:24Speaker 3: They were the smartest guys in the room.
- 49:26Speaker 1: If you wanted to know anything about what was going
- 49:28Speaker 1: on with the team, you talk to the offensive lineman.
- 49:31Speaker 4: I think what I love about it is that most
- 49:34Speaker 4: linemen do pretty well post career, because we didn't really
- 49:38Speaker 4: like fall in love with the idea of ourselves while
- 49:41Speaker 4: we were playing. You know, most guys they come in
- 49:43Speaker 4: the league and they're the individual and then they become
- 49:46Speaker 4: this new star powered person and then the light shuts
- 49:50Speaker 4: off on them and they're like, but what about me?
- 49:52Speaker 4: You know, and then they kind of seem kind of
- 49:54Speaker 4: clawing whorres line were like, Hey, we came in fat
- 49:56Speaker 4: and ugly, whatever, We're going to do this thing, and
- 49:57Speaker 4: then a were cool, we're out all right, Like I
- 49:59Speaker 4: kind of was kind of I came in humble, I
- 50:01Speaker 4: leave humble. That's majority of the linemen. They usually they
- 50:04Speaker 4: come and kind of smike they don't. You don't really
- 50:06Speaker 4: see very very many big egos, and that's what I
- 50:10Speaker 4: appreciate a lot. Like I've had some really cool guys,
- 50:13Speaker 4: some really just down to earth individuals that I've had
- 50:16Speaker 4: the pleasure of working with over my career. And that's again,
- 50:19Speaker 4: that's why I really think that I hope moving forward,
- 50:21Speaker 4: I hope they shed some light on offense line because
- 50:24Speaker 4: there are some hilarious individuals. The Eagles, he had the
- 50:29Speaker 4: they just paid Dickerson and like, that's what I'm saying, Like,
- 50:31Speaker 4: what did he say he want to do? What are
- 50:33Speaker 4: you gonna do all your money, I'm gonna buy a lawnmower,
- 50:35Speaker 4: MO my lawn. And they ends up coming out like, no, ship,
- 50:38Speaker 4: that's what I'm gonna do. Like he bought a fucking
- 50:40Speaker 4: lawnmower and he mode his line and then.
- 50:42Speaker 2: You got one hundred messages that I look like him.
- 50:44Speaker 4: I was like do I?
- 50:44Speaker 2: And I looked at I was like, oh my god,
- 50:46Speaker 2: I do look you know a little bit.
- 50:47Speaker 4: I honestly a little bit.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Biggest thrill, biggest thrill appearing with your teammates and pitch
- 50:54Speaker 1: perfect too.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Can you handle this?
- 50:58Speaker 4: Stab? Can you handle this? Clay? Can you handle this?
- 51:02Speaker 2: I don't think they can handle this.
- 51:06Speaker 4: I don't.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Pitch perfect two mm hmm.
- 51:14Speaker 1: The attention you got for being able to chug a
- 51:17Speaker 1: beer as an offensive lineman in Milwaukee, getting the bag
- 51:22Speaker 1: as the highest paid offensive lineman in the history of
- 51:24Speaker 1: the NFL.
- 51:25Speaker 4: Come on, I'm close.
- 51:27Speaker 3: Pitch perfect too. It's pitch perfect too, right.
- 51:29Speaker 4: No, those two things are that's the limelight. Those are cool,
- 51:33Speaker 4: but they're fleeting. Money ain't going anywhere.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Let's by the way, you gotta be smart to make
- 51:39Speaker 1: sure the money isn't going for.
- 51:41Speaker 4: The most part, Like I mean, linemen are usually pretty chill,
- 51:44Speaker 4: Like we buy lawnmowers. When I first made it the league,
- 51:47Speaker 4: I got my first signing bonus. So we're gonna talk
- 51:49Speaker 4: about being a young kid having money. The first thing
- 51:51Speaker 4: I bought was ten pairs of Little Lemon underwear because
- 51:55Speaker 4: I had holes in mind and I had never treated
- 51:57Speaker 4: myself because I never gave a shit about clothes, and
- 51:59Speaker 4: I was like, what did you do? I'm like, I
- 52:00Speaker 4: bought brand new underwear that were really nice because I've
- 52:03Speaker 4: never had nice underwear. I had shit that I had
- 52:05Speaker 4: I got from my parents from Christmas back in like
- 52:08Speaker 4: eighth grade, that I was still rocking all through college
- 52:10Speaker 4: and then into the league. Like that's that's just what
- 52:12Speaker 4: we are. Like it's funny, it's stupid, but like that's
- 52:15Speaker 4: that's the kind of guys, and like there's a majority
- 52:17Speaker 4: of them in that said position that I can characterize linemen,
- 52:20Speaker 4: like a lot of us are like that.
- 52:22Speaker 3: They're good BACTI Aari.
- 52:24Speaker 1: Congrats on all the success, looking forward to what's next
