- 0:01The general concept of immobility in the face of
- 0:04external pressures is actually not a new discovery.
- 0:08Stoicism encourage people to develop ways to withstand the
- 0:12pressures of the external world and accept those pressures
- 0:15without wilting or breaking under them.
- 0:18For the most part, however, the Stoics still struggle with the
- 0:22forces that assail them. They work to restrain their
- 0:26outer nature from reacting, and with considerable practice they
- 0:31gain a measure of resistance. This comes, however, with the
- 0:35corresponding of the deadening of the general responsiveness to
- 0:39all of life's energies and activities.
- 0:43Some people practice various forms of self-control of their
- 0:46physical, vital and mental impulses.
- 0:50They can achieve, in some cases, a remarkable ability to
- 0:54withstand conditions that most would find impossible to
- 0:57withstand. This includes all kinds of
- 1:01physical conditioning, anger management, and mental
- 1:05disciplines. These do not nullify the
- 1:07vibrations that come in, but modify the response given back
- 1:12to them. One can be disturbed inwardly,
- 1:16but not show it outwardly. The mother takes a more
- 1:20comprehensive view of immobility, which is based not
- 1:24on artificially suppressing the external responses alone, but of
- 1:29actually nullifying the unwanted vibrations internally so that
- 1:34there is no inner reaction at all.
- 1:36When 1 wishes to withstand a particular vibration or force
- 1:41being exerted upon one, she calls this complete stilling of
- 1:46the internal vibrational responses integral immobility.
- 1:52People are frequently asking about psychic attacks, sorcery,
- 1:56malevolent and highly concentrated forces that attempt
- 1:59to overwhelm and destroy an individual.
- 2:03As one cultivates the power of integral immobility, the being
- 2:07sets up what may be considered to be a psychic shield.
- 2:12The alternative approach is to put oneself completely under the
- 2:16protection of a being who has the power to create such a
- 2:20shield, the mother writes. Quote There is a tremendous
- 2:26power in immobility, mental immobility, sensorial
- 2:30immobility, physical immobility. If you can remain like a wall,
- 2:36absolutely motionless, everything the other person
- 2:40sends you will immediately fall back upon him.
- 2:44And it has an immediate action. It can stop the arm of the
- 2:48assassin, you understand. It has that strength.
- 2:52Only one must not just appear to be immobile and yet be boiling
- 2:57inside. That's not what I mean.
- 3:00I mean an integral immobility. End Quote.
