- 0:03Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Hello, Big Blue Nation, Welcome to Just the Cats. My
- 0:15Speaker 2: name is Michael Bennett. On this Friday, April tenth, I
- 0:19Speaker 2: hope everybody's got a big weekend planned as we're gonna
- 0:22Speaker 2: take two hours of your time talk about all kinds
- 0:25Speaker 2: of stuff. But I'm looking forward to it. And the
- 0:28Speaker 2: other part, I'm looking forward to it because you know,
- 0:30Speaker 2: the man that left me, but he's here today, which
- 0:33Speaker 2: I'm happy for. Matthew Childress, Matthew, how are you doing
- 0:36Speaker 2: on this Friday?
- 0:37Speaker 1: I'm good on this Friday. I feel like I slept
- 0:40Speaker 1: pretty well last night. I had one of those nights
- 0:42Speaker 1: that you know, have you ever had those where you
- 0:44Speaker 1: wake up multiple times because you your mouth is so
- 0:47Speaker 1: dry and like you just need water really bad? Or
- 0:49Speaker 1: had those?
- 0:51Speaker 2: I wake up multiple times during the night, But I've
- 0:54Speaker 2: never had it to where my mouth is so dry
- 0:56Speaker 2: I need water.
- 0:57Speaker 1: So what I It happens to me whenever I sleep
- 0:59Speaker 1: on my back, I see my ball yep, and I
- 1:03Speaker 1: start snoring so my you know, the air drives my
- 1:06Speaker 1: mouth out and I start having dreams of drinking water
- 1:10Speaker 1: like of of I really I have like I'm so
- 1:12Speaker 1: thirsty at night that I will have dreams of quenching
- 1:15Speaker 1: my thirst and then wake up and I have to
- 1:17Speaker 1: go get water, and it's it's it's really annoying because
- 1:20Speaker 1: I live in the basement, so I gotta walk. I
- 1:21Speaker 1: gotta get out of bed, walk all the way upstairs
- 1:24Speaker 1: to the kitchen, go get water, drink it, come back downstairs.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You know all this stuff. Now I'm awake, basically, I'm
- 1:28Speaker 1: awake at that point. But that was around like five
- 1:30Speaker 1: thirty in the morning.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Well that's what time I'm getting up. So what's a
- 1:34Speaker 3: big deal.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I mean, you're a you're a beast of a human, Michael.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I don't understand. But I can't do that. I but no,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm excited. You know. It's it's a beautiful day outside
- 1:44Speaker 1: around two of the masks going on today, Yeah, going
- 1:47Speaker 1: to the King's game today. I'm excited about that. Tonight
- 1:49Speaker 1: that's gonna be a lot of fun. Supposed to be
- 1:50Speaker 1: a pretty pretty warm night for that as well. And
- 1:53Speaker 1: it's a it's the weekend. I'm excited about the weekend.
- 1:56Speaker 2: It's supposed to be eighty eight degrees on Sunday, which
- 1:59Speaker 2: is crazy, and you look good in your king's head.
- 2:02Speaker 3: I liked.
- 2:03Speaker 2: I like the old school golf hat, you know, with
- 2:06Speaker 2: the rope going across the brim of it.
- 2:08Speaker 3: You look really good.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:10Speaker 3: You're all in on the Kings, aren't you.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I am. It's fun. Like, it's been a great time.
- 2:14Speaker 1: We did our you know, our show three Men in
- 2:16Speaker 1: Front yesterday covering it. That was great. We got to
- 2:18Speaker 1: give away tickets to the game yesterday. That was awesome.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Got to do that. It's it's been. It's something that
- 2:24Speaker 1: I'm a big I like. I'm a big guy if
- 2:27Speaker 1: I like things going on in the city that I'm in. Like,
- 2:29Speaker 1: no matter where I go, I always want to live
- 2:31Speaker 1: somewhere that has things going on. And I will appreciate
- 2:34Speaker 1: that in my lifetime. Louisville does a good job of
- 2:36Speaker 1: always giving something for the citizens to do in the summertime,
- 2:39Speaker 1: and I appreciate that.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Listen, for the smallest city as Louisville is, it's a
- 2:47Speaker 2: very active city. And uh just and not just that,
- 2:51Speaker 2: I think we have some of the best culture bar
- 2:56Speaker 2: none for the size city we are. I'm you know,
- 2:59Speaker 2: people gonna make fun of me, but between the actors
- 3:02Speaker 2: that come in here and and the plays that come
- 3:05Speaker 2: in here, the ballet, the orchestra, all the arts are covered.
- 3:10Speaker 2: And then I really believe we have some of the
- 3:12Speaker 2: best restaurants in the country are none and anywhere from
- 3:17Speaker 2: mom and pop all the way to really nice restaurants.
- 3:20Speaker 2: And I've always said, it's the reason we have such
- 3:24Speaker 2: good restaurants in Louisville is because of Sullivan, because of
- 3:28Speaker 2: the chef's school over there.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah, and a lot of these chefs come in here.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Well, that's what I've always thought is that you know,
- 3:35Speaker 2: the chefs come in here and they to go to
- 3:38Speaker 2: school to become chefs, and that they they end up
- 3:42Speaker 2: loving our city, staying here and opening up their own restaurant.
- 3:46Speaker 2: And I just I've always thought that, and I think
- 3:50Speaker 2: it's great because I'm very partial to it. And then
- 3:52Speaker 2: you mix in the Bourbon part of it. I just
- 3:55Speaker 2: I think we have a great city. When people move here,
- 3:57Speaker 2: more times than not, they end up staying in Louisville,
- 4:01Speaker 2: even though they say, yeah, I'm just going to be
- 4:02Speaker 2: here a few years. Well, like my next door neighbor
- 4:06Speaker 2: from Detroit, Michigan obviously worked for Ford for a number
- 4:10Speaker 2: of years, and he said, yeah, he was running the
- 4:13Speaker 2: truck plan out there off of Geene Snyder, and he
- 4:23Speaker 2: ended up staying here, even though I think three other times,
- 4:27Speaker 2: including a stint in Asia for about four years. He
- 4:30Speaker 2: kept his house here and he would just come back
- 4:32Speaker 2: every now and then. That that house who just remained empty,
- 4:35Speaker 2: big house that just was completely empty for the time
- 4:39Speaker 2: he was out in Asia. Now he's retired from Ford,
- 4:40Speaker 2: done very well. But it's just it's just amazing with
- 4:44Speaker 2: all the stuff we have going on here, and I'm happy.
- 4:46Speaker 2: The only thing I wish we had was a major
- 4:50Speaker 2: league team. That's the only thing you've heard me talk
- 4:52Speaker 2: about that. I wish we had something that's major league. Uh,
- 4:57Speaker 2: I don't care what it is. I just wish it. Well,
- 5:00Speaker 2: yeah I did, I kind of do. I mean I'd
- 5:02Speaker 2: probably want I'd won NBA, NFL, which was a pipe dream.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Major League Baseball, I think, which is a pipe dream.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And you know, if we could ever get NHL, I
- 5:12Speaker 2: think people would fall in love with it.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I've always been on the NBA train. Obviously, I'm a
- 5:17Speaker 1: big NBA fan. I follow the least the whole life.
- 5:21Speaker 1: And the one thing I can say is that a
- 5:25Speaker 1: lot of true basketball fans across the country also have
- 5:30Speaker 1: Louisville as a city on their mind. When you know,
- 5:33Speaker 1: because a lot of talks of Adam Silver wanted to expand.
- 5:36Speaker 1: It looks like Seattle and Vegas are going to be
- 5:37Speaker 1: the next two teams, but Louisville is still in that pot.
- 5:40Speaker 1: They bring it up in every single meeting, every single
- 5:43Speaker 1: time the board gets together talk about cities. Louisville's always
- 5:46Speaker 1: in that top five, top four spot. So the hope
- 5:49Speaker 1: that Louisville gets an NBA team is slim, but it
- 5:52Speaker 1: is still there. I think within my lifetime, our lifetime,
- 5:57Speaker 1: that we will see it happen. To say it that way,
- 6:01Speaker 1: but I appreciate it, and I realized how I worded
- 6:03Speaker 1: that it was not good. So in our lifetime, I
- 6:07Speaker 1: think we will see it happen, or at least they'll
- 6:09Speaker 1: at least try. The one thing I can say about
- 6:12Speaker 1: it is that's a big reason why I get behind
- 6:16Speaker 1: all of the teams in Louisville so much. Like I
- 6:17Speaker 1: love the Bats, I love I love Louisville City, I
- 6:20Speaker 1: love Racing FC, I love the like I'm already all
- 6:23Speaker 1: in on the Kings as beginning suck up. If we
- 6:26Speaker 1: want professional sports in Louisville, you have to get behind
- 6:29Speaker 1: the sports we have. We have to support the sports
- 6:31Speaker 1: we have, because if you don't show up for any
- 6:33Speaker 1: of these games, if you don't show up for the teams,
- 6:34Speaker 1: if you don't give them anything that doesn't like Roger
- 6:39Speaker 1: Goodell is not gonna be like, well, I mean, nobody
- 6:40Speaker 1: shows up for that semi pro team over there, So
- 6:42Speaker 1: what makes me want to build a whole stadium forum,
- 6:45Speaker 1: move a whole team down there, and that Adam Silver
- 6:47Speaker 1: is gonna say, okay, well, we have to technically buy
- 6:49Speaker 1: the Young Center because Louisville doesn't want to sell it
- 6:52Speaker 1: to anybody. Why do I want to invest all this
- 6:54Speaker 1: money if these guys can't even show up for their
- 6:56Speaker 1: college team, If these guys can't to show up for
- 6:58Speaker 1: the So you if you want a professional team in Louisville,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and this isn't just Michael As, everybody show up for
- 7:03Speaker 1: the teams that are at Lovell right now, you gotta
- 7:05Speaker 1: buy in. Now, you gotta show that there is an
- 7:07Speaker 1: untapped sports market in Louisville.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Well, here is why we will never get an NFL
- 7:12Speaker 2: team because we're surrounded by NFL teams well, I can
- 7:16Speaker 2: just tell you right now unless they become so disgruntled
- 7:20Speaker 2: in Innanapolis, Cincinnati, or Nashville that they would move here.
- 7:24Speaker 2: But I don't ever see NFL come into Louisville. I
- 7:27Speaker 2: just I don't. As far as baseball, I kind of
- 7:31Speaker 2: feel the same way. I don't think. I don't want
- 7:35Speaker 2: to say Louisville would never support it. I'm not going
- 7:37Speaker 2: to agree with that. So many people are out there
- 7:39Speaker 2: say well, we're not going to support the NBA. It's like, well,
- 7:42Speaker 2: it's a bunch of U of L fans that are
- 7:44Speaker 2: saying that, yes, we are going to support the NBA.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And you know, last time we had the chance, the
- 7:50Speaker 2: athletic director at u of L and the basketball coach
- 7:53Speaker 2: did not want that to come because they saw that
- 7:55Speaker 2: as major competition. And I understand that, but I would
- 7:59Speaker 2: like to try because there's a number of people in
- 8:02Speaker 2: this city that don't care about U of L. They
- 8:05Speaker 2: want to see an NBA team. I mean, I bet
- 8:09Speaker 2: you there's a number of U of L fans that
- 8:11Speaker 2: would like to have NBA as well. Now it's gonna
- 8:13Speaker 2: be a hard choice for them, which they're gonna get
- 8:15Speaker 2: season tickets, but don't you think that majority of the
- 8:18Speaker 2: city that is U of L fans don't have season
- 8:21Speaker 2: tickets and they just casually go to a game every
- 8:24Speaker 2: now and then, and maybe they split it up, go
- 8:26Speaker 2: to a few U of L games and go to
- 8:28Speaker 2: an NBA game. I just know NBA would succeed, and
- 8:33Speaker 2: I'm here to tell you the NHL would be here
- 8:36Speaker 2: to succeed if they would. Because there's no NHL team.
- 8:39Speaker 2: The closest one to us is either Nashville or Columbus.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Oh how, I'm here to tell you that would be
- 8:47Speaker 2: a lot of fun. If you've never seen an NHL
- 8:52Speaker 2: game live and you say, yeah, I'm not interested, don't
- 8:58Speaker 2: say anything else until you go to a game. Because
- 9:01Speaker 2: I was the same way. I said I didn't care
- 9:03Speaker 2: about NHL until I went to a game live and
- 9:06Speaker 2: it was.
- 9:06Speaker 3: It was the greatest event I've ever been to.
- 9:09Speaker 2: I mean, I had a ball at an NHL game,
- 9:12Speaker 2: and I just I feel like young Sinner could support
- 9:15Speaker 2: something like that.
- 9:16Speaker 1: I the only one of those that I do still
- 9:18Speaker 1: push back on is the MLB team, not because I
- 9:20Speaker 1: don't think that fans would support I think everybody would
- 9:22Speaker 1: get behind it. Everybody loves professional sports and everybody you know.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I think that city is a very rich baseball city,
- 9:28Speaker 1: but it's the fact that just because of the whole
- 9:31Speaker 1: the way the MLBS ran and like there's no salary
- 9:33Speaker 1: cap for anything. I think it was yeah, as a
- 9:35Speaker 1: city would struggle to support the team financially, and then
- 9:39Speaker 1: it would be like a Cincinnati situation, like it'd be like, Okay,
- 9:41Speaker 1: they'll be good about like the playoffs every once in
- 9:43Speaker 1: a while, but they won't really do much in NBA team.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I think the entire city would come in droves for that.
- 9:50Speaker 1: You don't see this big professional sports following in Louisville
- 9:54Speaker 1: for team to team because we don't have one. So
- 9:57Speaker 1: I think we talked about it before that Louisville is
- 9:59Speaker 1: a very weird city where everybody's NFL, NBA hockey team.
- 10:06Speaker 1: They're all different, right, so like some some people are
- 10:09Speaker 1: are Nashville Predators fans, some people are Titans fans, some
- 10:11Speaker 1: people Patriots fans, weel Packers fans. Because we don't have anything, right,
- 10:14Speaker 1: we don't have anything. So it's one where if you
- 10:16Speaker 1: put it here, people will show up. People in Louisville
- 10:19Speaker 1: just want to watch sports. People will give it a try. Now,
- 10:22Speaker 1: does that absolutely it's going to succeed forever. No, if
- 10:25Speaker 1: they suck, they probably you know, it might fail. There's
- 10:27Speaker 1: always a chance for that. But also I also agree
- 10:31Speaker 1: that if you put an NHL team in Louisville, that'd
- 10:33Speaker 1: be the most successful sport we possibly have. There's such
- 10:35Speaker 1: a Midwestern lifestyle here in Louisville, or you know, coming
- 10:38Speaker 1: from north, coming from Wisconsin, stuff like that, an AHL
- 10:41Speaker 1: team would do really well.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I'm going to disagree with you right there. This is
- 10:46Speaker 2: not a Midwestern lifestyle. I'm proud of Louisville being a
- 10:50Speaker 2: southern town. I get so sick and it is a
- 10:54Speaker 2: southern town. Louisville, Kentucky is very southern. Please it is southern.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Stop it then, you know what. I'm glad you're moving away.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Come tell me what Kentucky Derby that's southern, very much so.
- 11:09Speaker 3: It's southern. It's a very southern tradition.
- 11:13Speaker 2: I feel like that the way we talk, our accents
- 11:16Speaker 2: are very southern.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I think it's more midwestern.
- 11:19Speaker 2: Oh, you are so wrong. I mean, just mute your
- 11:22Speaker 2: mike the rest of the two hours. Somebody call in
- 11:25Speaker 2: and just be my co host the rest of the time,
- 11:27Speaker 2: because you know, all Matthew wants to do is chow
- 11:29Speaker 2: down and talk about how this is a Midwestern town.
- 11:32Speaker 2: This is not a Midwestern town. By the way, I
- 11:35Speaker 2: do want to talk about your Pacers because I know
- 11:37Speaker 2: how much you love the Indiana Pacers.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Have you seen this is going pretty viral about the
- 11:45Speaker 2: Pacers TV and the two fans that are talking. Apparently
- 11:50Speaker 2: it's a boyfriend and a girlfriend and people are trying
- 11:53Speaker 2: to figure out what they're both saying. They they they've
- 11:56Speaker 2: pretty much figured out what she's saying, but they haven't
- 12:00Speaker 2: been able to figure out what the boyfriend is saying
- 12:03Speaker 2: because she's saying, you know, blank you and it's it's
- 12:07Speaker 2: an interesting conversation and it's it's just I'm I have
- 12:12Speaker 2: literally become fascinated with this video.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw this video last night. There was almost
- 12:18Speaker 1: it's almost like an anomaly. Every single season there is
- 12:20Speaker 1: a video or a picture of Pacers fans doing something
- 12:23Speaker 1: hilarious court side. Like last season it was there were
- 12:28Speaker 1: two fans who are based I think they were heckling
- 12:30Speaker 1: Lebron James in a Pacers game and they put the
- 12:33Speaker 1: camera on them because they had to get escorted out
- 12:35Speaker 1: because Lebron was getting so annoyed with them that he
- 12:37Speaker 1: got them kicked out of the game, and they like
- 12:40Speaker 1: showed the camera and they did the whole like sad face,
- 12:43Speaker 1: like pretaking to cry and walking off the court, and
- 12:45Speaker 1: that became a viral meme that like every time Lebron
- 12:47Speaker 1: would complain in the game, he would put that under
- 12:49Speaker 1: the video. So I did see this. It's always funny.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Facers fans are great.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I'm right there with you because I'm I just retweeted
- 12:57Speaker 2: it out. If you want to see the video, I
- 13:00Speaker 2: tweeted it at just the Cat Radio. You can go
- 13:02Speaker 2: see it there. But I mean, she is just giving
- 13:07Speaker 2: him the business and he's just sitting there taking it.
- 13:09Speaker 1: He's I mean he also is just like not shutting up,
- 13:12Speaker 1: like he's just talking.
- 13:14Speaker 3: He is yappy.
- 13:15Speaker 2: I mean, he is like a little puppy that doesn't
- 13:18Speaker 2: know what to do that and this girl is just
- 13:20Speaker 2: not having it.
- 13:22Speaker 3: I love this girl.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I mean, I'm to a point, man, if I wouldn't married,
- 13:26Speaker 2: I'd probably want to go out with her because she
- 13:27Speaker 2: is just giving him the business and not putting up
- 13:30Speaker 2: with it.
- 13:30Speaker 3: I love her. He drives me up the Wall, he's
- 13:34Speaker 3: the annoying one.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I agree. I fully agree with that.
- 13:37Speaker 2: That's it. Okay, Well that was pretty simple. So I
- 13:41Speaker 2: love it. Anytime the Pacers do something like that, I
- 13:44Speaker 2: do enjoy it, and I do love that people are
- 13:47Speaker 2: on there trying to ask Grok what is he saying.
- 13:50Speaker 2: The problem is he covers his mouth and you can't
- 13:53Speaker 2: really see what he's saying.
- 13:54Speaker 1: So much. You ever going to a paces game, Michael.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yes, I have. They're fun fun, it's a it's an absolute.
- 14:00Speaker 2: I've got some great friends up there. Sorry, Josh, uh
- 14:03Speaker 2: take a sip, but uh, I've got some great, very
- 14:06Speaker 2: close friends of mine that have known many years, that
- 14:09Speaker 2: have season tickets up there, and they've invited me several times.
- 14:12Speaker 3: It's it. NBA games are a blast.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Fun.
- 14:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, So I don't pass that when I'm invited,
- 14:20Speaker 2: I don't pass that up. Just just like uh, my wife.
- 14:23Speaker 2: I think I've told you before. My wife made me
- 14:26Speaker 2: just you you you're in full support of every team
- 14:28Speaker 2: here in Louisville. My wife told me last year we
- 14:32Speaker 2: are going to a Louisville City game. I don't care
- 14:35Speaker 2: what you said or what you say, and I simply
- 14:38Speaker 2: said yes, ma'am, and so I went. I tried it.
- 14:43Speaker 2: That's enough for me. I just I don't like soccer.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I find it the most boring sport out there. I
- 14:52Speaker 2: tried it. I mean, I see the fans getting into
- 14:54Speaker 2: the game. I mean, it was a it was a
- 14:56Speaker 2: reasonably good crowd. I just I don't get it.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Now.
- 15:01Speaker 2: If I'm ever allowed to go to a King's game,
- 15:04Speaker 2: which doesn't look up hear that I'll ever be allowed.
- 15:07Speaker 2: But I think I would enjoy that because I think
- 15:11Speaker 2: the environment's great. I like the fans that are really
- 15:14Speaker 2: into this. Hopefully they get a good team and hopefully
- 15:17Speaker 2: they start winning some. But you know, it's on I'm
- 15:20Speaker 2: in Saint Pete right now. The game was just advertised
- 15:25Speaker 2: Louisville versus Orlando, I mean on Fox fuck And so
- 15:31Speaker 2: you look at this and it's gonna be played tonight
- 15:34Speaker 2: all over the country. That's a huge boost for the
- 15:37Speaker 2: city Louisville. Knowing that first of all, they're hosting the game,
- 15:41Speaker 2: and second of all that they're even talking about the city.
- 15:44Speaker 2: You gotta believe the Chamber of Commerce is all over
- 15:47Speaker 2: this and loves the fact that Louisville has this team.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Now it's got to succeed, and maybe there's somebody out there,
- 15:54Speaker 2: like you know what, with just like you were talking about,
- 15:56Speaker 2: with the fan base that's supporting this team in this city,
- 16:01Speaker 2: maybe we should consider Louisville as an expansion area expansion city.
- 16:07Speaker 2: So I would hope that would happen, but you never know.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I think it will happen. I'm confident. I'm being positive
- 16:13Speaker 1: about it. I think that Louisville will eventually have a
- 16:15Speaker 1: professional sports team, and I don't know what sports that
- 16:17Speaker 1: will be. But like the first game of the season
- 16:20Speaker 1: was also on Fox, and I think it pulled in
- 16:22Speaker 1: like six hundred and eighty thousand viewers for that game.
- 16:25Speaker 1: That was also during Final four, Like the Final four
- 16:29Speaker 1: was Wow, same time, like Duke and who do play
- 16:34Speaker 1: yukon Duken you College?
- 16:37Speaker 3: That was the comeback game, So yeah, they.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Pulled in six hundred and eight thousand viewers while the
- 16:41Speaker 1: Final four was going on. Wow, this will be the
- 16:43Speaker 1: only sporting event. The Masters will be over by that
- 16:45Speaker 1: time today, so that'll be the only sporting event on tonight.
- 16:47Speaker 1: So I'm excited to see what the viewers are for
- 16:49Speaker 1: that game with nothing else going on, Like it's the
- 16:52Speaker 1: only major sport playing.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Talking about the viewers, did you see uk what was it?
- 16:57Speaker 2: Iowa State game was number nine in most view games
- 17:00Speaker 2: in the NCAA tournament. This was huge numbers that they
- 17:04Speaker 2: had this year. What was it, nineteen million for the
- 17:09Speaker 2: championship game.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I think it was the most viewed tournament they've had
- 17:12Speaker 1: yet so far.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Yes, I saw that, and it's like, that is fantastic,
- 17:18Speaker 2: and you know, and the only bad part is that
- 17:21Speaker 2: probably convinces them they're going to expand, which which I
- 17:24Speaker 2: don't like the expansion.
- 17:25Speaker 1: But anyway, if.
- 17:27Speaker 2: They make it to where it's a play in, then
- 17:30Speaker 2: I don't have as much of a problem with that.
- 17:31Speaker 2: But I mean, holy cow, those it was nineteen million
- 17:35Speaker 2: viewers for that championship game.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a ton. I mean, it's the thing is surprising.
- 17:43Speaker 1: It was like an okay championship game. It wasn't the
- 17:45Speaker 1: best I've ever seen, but it wasn't bad either. I
- 17:49Speaker 1: was fine with it. But it does it doesn't surprise
- 17:51Speaker 1: me the more people got their eyes on it now
- 17:53Speaker 1: now that it's basically a professional sport and these guys
- 17:55Speaker 1: are getting paid, the teams are better now. It's the
- 17:59Speaker 1: thing I don't.
- 17:59Speaker 2: Know if I I necessarily agree with you, though, why
- 18:02Speaker 2: was it just an okay championship game?
- 18:05Speaker 3: Because I think it was a little better than okay.
- 18:08Speaker 1: Yu Khan did a really good job of, you know,
- 18:10Speaker 1: staying within arm's reach of Michigan for almost the entirety
- 18:14Speaker 1: of the game, right, but they got in a foul
- 18:16Speaker 1: trouble early. Yakxel Lindeborg wasn't playing well due to his injury.
- 18:20Speaker 1: You kind of just had this feeling in the back
- 18:22Speaker 1: of your mind that at some point Michigan was going
- 18:24Speaker 1: to catch their stride and go on a run and
- 18:26Speaker 1: kind of put it away, and they did midway through
- 18:28Speaker 1: the second half. They made it a buffer his own game.
- 18:30Speaker 1: Yu Kon did a good job of coming back, but
- 18:32Speaker 1: then immediately Michigan stomped it out and you know, spread
- 18:35Speaker 1: the lead again. So okay is a strong way to
- 18:39Speaker 1: put it. I think it was a predictable game, is
- 18:40Speaker 1: what I guess I should I could, Yeah, I.
- 18:42Speaker 2: See, I would agree with that it was somewhat predictable
- 18:46Speaker 2: because I had predicted it was going to be twelve
- 18:48Speaker 2: points with about ten minutes left of Michigan's favorite but
- 18:52Speaker 2: then Yukon came back and they had a shot, and
- 18:55Speaker 2: you thought, well, is this going to be the situation
- 18:57Speaker 2: like they had with Duke? And they come back and
- 18:59Speaker 2: win this game. So, I mean, the game was a
- 19:02Speaker 2: little bit in thread, but I don't know. Apparently not
- 19:06Speaker 2: everybody's agreeing with me on this whole. Southern Louisville is
- 19:09Speaker 2: a southern town. We're gonna talk about that when we
- 19:11Speaker 2: come back. Stop it, stop stop, stop it. You're taking
- 19:14Speaker 2: the heck out of me. It is southern. Uh five
- 19:17Speaker 2: O two three eight four fourteen fifty. You want to
- 19:18Speaker 2: call in five two four to one four fourteen fifty
- 19:21Speaker 2: if you want to text in on the Whiskey Thief
- 19:23Speaker 2: text line? Are you tweeting me at just the Cat Radio? Matthew,
- 19:26Speaker 2: got some music ready for today? Are you prepared today?
- 19:30Speaker 2: You're not going about music?
- 19:32Speaker 1: It's good to go. It's going right now. Oh really,
- 19:34Speaker 1: when did you lay out the music yesterday? Oh? My goodness,
- 19:39Speaker 1: so you prepared? This is really eazy. You'll figure it
- 19:41Speaker 1: out when I'll tell you what song is coming back. Okay, good,
- 19:44Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it.
- 19:45Speaker 2: So all right, texting, we'll get to your text as
- 19:47Speaker 2: soon as we get back, as well as we're gonna
- 19:50Speaker 2: talk up a little bit more about Colin Chandler. And
- 19:53Speaker 2: I'm kind of surprised by the dink decision. What is
- 19:56Speaker 2: happening at this school? It's a surprise. So anyway, stay
- 20:00Speaker 2: right there. A lot more adjust the Cat's coming up.
- 20:03Speaker 1: We'll see in a minute of.
- 20:06Speaker 4: You Home Sweet and Clears Moonlight through the part.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Oh Georgia, No Peace, just an oh sweet.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Song Pabo two three four fourteen fifty. If you want
- 20:36Speaker 2: to call in Pablo two four one four fourteen fifty,
- 20:39Speaker 2: you want to call in the Whiskey Thief text liner,
- 20:41Speaker 2: you can tweat me at just the Cat Radio. Uh yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 2: I like Ray Charles, good call right there? Were you
- 20:47Speaker 2: even alive when he was alive? That's what I want
- 20:50Speaker 2: to know. I don't think so.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't even know. I couldn't even answer. Yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 1: but you know Ray Charles, Yeah, I know Ray Charles.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Oh yeah, absolutely you do. So.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Uh anyway, Uh, let's get to a couple of texts
- 21:01Speaker 2: here before we move forward.
- 21:03Speaker 5: Uh.
- 21:03Speaker 2: This is Daryl from Paduca from yesterday's show. Yes, Dippin'
- 21:08Speaker 2: Dots is still located in Paduca. I for some reason,
- 21:13Speaker 2: I thought they were gone and bought by another company.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Thank you, Darryl. That's pretty cool. You have nothing to
- 21:21Speaker 2: say about that. You're just kind of looking at me.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I was getting the next songwrity. But I mean, I mean,
- 21:27Speaker 2: I mean, yeah, that's awesome. Good for Padua, it is,
- 21:30Speaker 2: but I think it's great.
- 21:32Speaker 3: I'm excited for Paducah.
- 21:33Speaker 1: That's fun. Like their entire you know GDP down there Induca.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Probably so yeah, I mean, especially with they charge at
- 21:41Speaker 2: MLB because that's the only place. I well, no, that's
- 21:43Speaker 2: not necessarily true. I've seen him at basketball arenas.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Do you think that Like people from Aduca every time
- 21:49Speaker 1: they go somewhere were like, you know that we have
- 21:51Speaker 1: dippin' dots, right?
- 21:52Speaker 3: I think you should. My dad would be the same way.
- 21:54Speaker 2: He was always proud of the town he was from, Nashville, Tennessee,
- 21:59Speaker 2: and and also the town that he called home his
- 22:03Speaker 2: majority of his life, louis of Kentucky. He would always say,
- 22:07Speaker 2: you know, Louisville slugger is made in Louisville, Kentucky. It's
- 22:11Speaker 2: no joke, Dad, I think everybody knows that. But no,
- 22:16Speaker 2: my Kentucky. They would ask where are you from? And
- 22:19Speaker 2: he would, uh, well, you ever heard of Kentucky fried chicken,
- 22:22Speaker 2: and so that's that's where I'm from. I'm from Louisll, Kentucky,
- 22:24Speaker 2: where Kentucky fried chicken is made. Well, unfortunately that's not
- 22:28Speaker 2: the case anymore thanks to uh well, I won't get
- 22:31Speaker 2: into that, but one person said, as a transfer from Illinois,
- 22:36Speaker 2: Louisville and Cinci suburbs on this side of the river
- 22:40Speaker 2: are northern.
- 22:42Speaker 3: The rest of Kentucky is southern. Let me think about that.
- 22:47Speaker 2: As a transfer from Illinois, Louisville and Cincinnati suburbs on
- 22:51Speaker 2: the side of the river are northern, the rest of
- 22:56Speaker 2: Kentucky is southern.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I think do you agree with that? I agree with that.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I think that I'm not really under different demographic than
- 23:02Speaker 1: the rest of Kentucky has.
- 23:04Speaker 3: You know, it's funny.
- 23:05Speaker 2: You you go parts, you go parts of the city
- 23:09Speaker 2: and there are people that speak, yeah, probably in a
- 23:12Speaker 2: Midwestern accent, and then but you go to other parts
- 23:16Speaker 2: of the city and they they speak with a very
- 23:18Speaker 2: Southern accent.
- 23:19Speaker 1: There is a huge twang to it. I'll give you that.
- 23:22Speaker 1: It's it is exactly. I know it's called a border state,
- 23:25Speaker 1: but it really is a border state like if you
- 23:28Speaker 1: go to I feel like there's a lot. I feel
- 23:32Speaker 1: like Kentucky has a lot of different dialects and accents
- 23:34Speaker 1: for one state to have, and I think that there
- 23:37Speaker 1: are good enough amount of Southern people.
- 23:39Speaker 2: I think majority of it's a Southern speaking state. I
- 23:43Speaker 2: mean you, there is definitely an accent here in Louisville.
- 23:45Speaker 2: People are always asking me where are you from? Because
- 23:48Speaker 2: you got I'm always accused of having a Southern accent.
- 23:53Speaker 2: But I'm from louisvill Kentucky. Do you not think I
- 23:56Speaker 2: have an accent?
- 23:57Speaker 1: Not really? Okay, from the same place that you're from. So,
- 24:01Speaker 1: I mean.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Exactly, So every time I go anywhere in this country
- 24:06Speaker 2: outside of Kentucky, especially outside the South, I'm always accused
- 24:11Speaker 2: of where's that accent from? And it's just like, I'm
- 24:14Speaker 2: from louis of Kentucky. Oh you're from the South. I
- 24:17Speaker 2: just I believe. I've always believed Louisville is in the South,
- 24:21Speaker 2: and I get so sick and tired when people say
- 24:23Speaker 2: we're Midwestern.
- 24:23Speaker 3: We're not even close to that.
- 24:25Speaker 2: And to me, the state of Kentucky is in Do
- 24:27Speaker 2: you not believe Kentucky's in the South?
- 24:30Speaker 1: No? I mean if we're going. If we're going geographically,
- 24:34Speaker 1: it's pretty close. But if we're going historically, it's a
- 24:37Speaker 1: northern state.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Okay, all right, then well I just you're so wrong.
- 24:41Speaker 2: I mean, this is where the youth of today just
- 24:44Speaker 2: irritates me. And you know you're a part of it.
- 24:46Speaker 2: But uh uh, they'll see, Josh Texan don't have to
- 24:50Speaker 2: buy the Young Center when they are dumping hundreds of
- 24:53Speaker 2: millions into Freedom Hall. And I'm assuming he's talking about
- 24:56Speaker 2: the NBA.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Are they doing? Are they dumping millions in Freedom Hall?
- 25:01Speaker 1: Did you not know that?
- 25:02Speaker 2: Yeah, Justin and I talked about a couple of days ago.
- 25:05Speaker 2: They are putting four hundred and fifty million dollars into
- 25:10Speaker 2: Kentucky Fairy and ex Position Center, and a lot of it,
- 25:13Speaker 2: a good portion of it is going into revamping Freedom Hall,
- 25:16Speaker 2: putting in a new scoreboard, putting in a new seating there,
- 25:20Speaker 2: all kinds of stuff that Well, that was my question
- 25:24Speaker 2: was why, like it's been this long? Why now? Well, see,
- 25:28Speaker 2: I'm with you, it's like it's been going on for
- 25:31Speaker 2: how long without any kind of I mean even Bellerman.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I felt sorry for Bellerman for going to that cave,
- 25:39Speaker 2: and I you know, it's it's it's it's been there
- 25:41Speaker 2: since nineteen fifty six.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I think it's great.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I don't know why, but I think it's great because
- 25:49Speaker 2: now we have a really historic venue that's getting revitalization
- 25:54Speaker 2: and hopefully, now guess what, we got a little competition
- 25:57Speaker 2: for the m Center, which really isn't bringing in any
- 26:00Speaker 2: kind of concerts if you want to go to a
- 26:02Speaker 2: concert in louisvill Kentucky. This is what's irritated me. When
- 26:04Speaker 2: the Young Center was first open, every band that was
- 26:09Speaker 2: touring wanted to come to the Young Center. That's all
- 26:13Speaker 2: gone away. Now it's just mostly country accent. You know,
- 26:17Speaker 2: I don't really care for country music. I'd like to
- 26:19Speaker 2: see Jimmy Buffett was coming there, the Eagles were coming there.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I mean, it was who's who on who was touring.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Now we've lost all that. We haven't had really any
- 26:29Speaker 2: kind of big concerts come to Louisville. And maybe freedom
- 26:32Speaker 2: all will fight to get some halfway decent.
- 26:37Speaker 3: Entertainment to come to the city.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean, like you said, it's a historic venue.
- 26:41Speaker 1: I got to I had season tickets to Louisville games
- 26:43Speaker 1: for all the way up until twenty ten when they
- 26:45Speaker 1: left and it was always fun to go there. But
- 26:47Speaker 1: I just I need to know what specifically they're spending
- 26:52Speaker 1: the money on it for, like as like, is there
- 26:54Speaker 1: supposed to be a team going there?
- 26:56Speaker 5: Is?
- 26:56Speaker 1: Like, especially if they're doing score war stuff, what's this for?
- 27:00Speaker 1: Would that be nice? I mean, yeah, it would be nice.
- 27:02Speaker 1: I love you know, I love when the TBT comes
- 27:05Speaker 1: to town. I get to go watch games and Freedom Hall.
- 27:07Speaker 1: You get the like nostalgic feel of it. Yeah, you
- 27:09Speaker 1: get the styles and sounds of Freedom Hall, and so
- 27:11Speaker 1: it's really cool. I love those historic venues. But I'm
- 27:16Speaker 1: just not understanding. I feel like we could put the
- 27:18Speaker 1: money towards something else, like what, I don't know, I
- 27:22Speaker 1: don't know, idea.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I just think, so why not? I like the idea
- 27:26Speaker 3: of putting in there.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I would like to know exactly what they're going to
- 27:29Speaker 2: be doing at Freedom Hall? Now?
- 27:31Speaker 3: What is the plan? Is the plan?
- 27:33Speaker 2: Secretively they're trying to recruit another NBA team to relocate here.
- 27:37Speaker 2: I mean, I haven't heard anything. I haven't read anything
- 27:41Speaker 2: about NBA coming to Louisville. You know they're going to
- 27:44Speaker 2: right now, They're they're expanding to Seattle and Las Vegas
- 27:47Speaker 2: which why Lost Vegas. I mean, they're going to barely
- 27:51Speaker 2: support the aut free money. I guess you're right. It's
- 27:55Speaker 2: not like a fan based town. But there's so many
- 27:57Speaker 2: rich people around there. There's all the people coming in
- 28:00Speaker 2: to town. Yeah, it's tourism. It's tourism.
- 28:02Speaker 1: And then the rich people that own the teams like
- 28:04Speaker 1: they it's just it's just money printing.
- 28:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:06Speaker 2: But if I'm going to uh on a vacation to
- 28:10Speaker 2: go visit a city, the last thing I'm thinking of
- 28:13Speaker 2: is going to an NBA game in that city, especially
- 28:16Speaker 2: Las Vegas. Now, if I'm going to historic NBA cities
- 28:22Speaker 2: like the Lakers, Los Angeles, Boston, the Celtics, I've never
- 28:29Speaker 2: been to Madison Square Gardens. I've always wanted to go
- 28:31Speaker 2: to MSG. I'd go to New York see the next play,
- 28:34Speaker 2: but I'm not going to go see Let me think
- 28:41Speaker 2: I'm not going to Atlanta and see the Hawks.
- 28:43Speaker 1: I don't care.
- 28:44Speaker 2: I'm not going out to uh See, to California Golden State,
- 28:49Speaker 2: I wouldn't see them.
- 28:50Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 28:51Speaker 2: I would go to Ora Arena, you would, Okay, all
- 28:55Speaker 2: right then, but but there's a number of cities you
- 28:57Speaker 2: wouldn't care about going to Yeah, would you go to
- 29:00Speaker 2: Memphis to go see the Grizzlies play or Oklahoma City?
- 29:04Speaker 1: I wouldn't go to Memphis, but well, I'm right there
- 29:06Speaker 1: with it, Yeah I would. I wouldn't go see the Grizzlies. Yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 1: maybe the Grizzlies are looking at moving to Louisville. I
- 29:12Speaker 1: don't know.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Have they done well down there since they moved there.
- 29:16Speaker 1: No, they've had, like in my lifetime, they've had a
- 29:19Speaker 1: couple like pretty good seasons, but they haven't had a
- 29:23Speaker 1: season worth a crap in forever like that. That team
- 29:27Speaker 1: is dying.
- 29:28Speaker 2: If if Louisville had an NBA team, I'm telling you
- 29:31Speaker 2: right now, it would be wildly successful. Especially don't you
- 29:34Speaker 2: think the city would be going crazy if they made
- 29:37Speaker 2: it to the playoffs and there's a few of UK
- 29:40Speaker 2: players on this on this team, I mean, they would
- 29:43Speaker 2: be good. Everybody from the state of Kentucky would be
- 29:46Speaker 2: coming to Louisville to see former UK players play it.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that the city itself would buy into
- 29:52Speaker 1: a team immediately. I think it'd be super fun. It's
- 29:55Speaker 1: such a basketball rich culture here in you know, in Kentucky.
- 29:59Speaker 1: I think the people from all over the state would
- 30:00Speaker 1: come and see games every once in a while. Especially
- 30:03Speaker 1: you get to play in one of the nicer arenas
- 30:06Speaker 1: in you know, in basketball in the country at the moment,
- 30:08Speaker 1: in the m Center, you get to use that more frequently.
- 30:10Speaker 1: I know people love going to see games there. It's
- 30:13Speaker 1: a situation where that I don't see a downside of it. Look,
- 30:18Speaker 1: if Oklahoma City can have one of the best fan
- 30:22Speaker 1: bases in the NBA, Louisville definitely support an NBA team.
- 30:25Speaker 1: Oklahoma City has nothing nothing. They're getting a UFL team
- 30:30Speaker 1: in twenty twenty eight, and they are They are excited
- 30:33Speaker 1: about it because they have nothing else to do, right.
- 30:34Speaker 1: I love the way of the UFL team, But the
- 30:36Speaker 1: point is we're excited about it because we have nothing
- 30:39Speaker 1: else to do. Right. So if they can survive out
- 30:41Speaker 1: there in the literal middle of nowhere, Louisville can support
- 30:45Speaker 1: NBA team.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Josh texted, Louisville's not the in the South, all right.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Louisville is not the South or the Midwest where the
- 30:53Speaker 2: gateway to the South.
- 30:54Speaker 3: Laugh out loud.
- 30:55Speaker 2: It's impossible to describe because it's such a heavy mix
- 30:59Speaker 2: of act since and culture is well. If Louisville's the
- 31:02Speaker 2: gateway to the south. Josh, it's in the south. The
- 31:05Speaker 2: south has to start somewhere, so don't tell me it's
- 31:08Speaker 2: the gateway, and then it's not the south, just like
- 31:12Speaker 2: Saint Louis is a gateway. That's why they have the arch.
- 31:15Speaker 2: It's a gateway to the west. Come on, No, it's
- 31:18Speaker 2: the south. You're just reaching now. No, I'm not reagion.
- 31:21Speaker 2: I'm telling you the truth. All right, let's talk about
- 31:23Speaker 2: some Colin Chandler. Uh, just for a second, because there's
- 31:28Speaker 2: really enough to talk about. You know, people were saying, well,
- 31:31Speaker 2: you know, his cryptic message, and it wasn't cryptic at all.
- 31:35Speaker 2: His message to Big Blue Nation was thankful for his
- 31:39Speaker 2: opportunity to come here.
- 31:40Speaker 3: He's now going home.
- 31:41Speaker 2: Some people saying, oh, he's left the door open to
- 31:43Speaker 2: come back to Kentucky.
- 31:44Speaker 1: No, he has it.
- 31:46Speaker 2: He is asking what would have been the second most
- 31:51Speaker 2: money given to a player at uk UK turned it down.
- 31:56Speaker 2: He's not coming back, so he's going to BYU. I'm
- 32:00Speaker 2: happy for him. Why can't we be just you know,
- 32:04Speaker 2: let's move on. Would you open the door for a player?
- 32:08Speaker 2: Let's leave out Colin Chandler. But if a player put
- 32:11Speaker 2: his name in the portal, would you leave it open
- 32:14Speaker 2: for him to come back? A Colin Chandler type player.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I mean, it would just depend on how much we're
- 32:21Speaker 1: gonna pay him, Like it would have to be for
- 32:24Speaker 1: a discount. As soon as you at the portal, your
- 32:26Speaker 1: value for the team goes down.
- 32:28Speaker 3: He's not worth what he's asking, is he?
- 32:31Speaker 5: No?
- 32:31Speaker 1: And I'm surprised that BYU. I mean, I know they
- 32:34Speaker 1: have ridiculous amounts of money over there at BYU. Are
- 32:38Speaker 1: they really gonna pay Colin Chandler what he wants because
- 32:40Speaker 1: he asking for a lot of.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Money, no offense.
- 32:43Speaker 1: He's a nice young man, Colin Chandler, I find it
- 32:46Speaker 1: hard to believe they're offering that much money.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I wouldn't offer him. I mean, I look at him.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I mean he's a at best a million dollar player.
- 32:54Speaker 1: He's asking for the same or similar amount of money
- 32:58Speaker 1: that Rob Wright got last season. And Rob Right. If
- 33:01Speaker 1: you're telling me you could get Rob Right for the
- 33:03Speaker 1: price that Colin Chandler is wanting, I'm taking Rob Right
- 33:06Speaker 1: ten times out of ten. If I'm putting those two
- 33:08Speaker 1: together exactly, It's it's not an argument. And I looked
- 33:13Speaker 1: at this, and I thought, no, I mean, bless your heart,
- 33:17Speaker 1: Colin Chandler, but I wish you the best of luck.
- 33:19Speaker 3: So but but forget the money.
- 33:21Speaker 2: Then, once a player enters the portal, do you think
- 33:24Speaker 2: they should be allowed to come back?
- 33:27Speaker 1: Like I said, yeah, I think they should be. But
- 33:29Speaker 1: it depends on what the price is. Like, you're not
- 33:31Speaker 1: going to come back and ask for the same amount
- 33:33Speaker 1: of money you wanted before. You have to kind of,
- 33:35Speaker 1: you know, take your losses and be like, Okay, I'll
- 33:39Speaker 1: cut the price down in half. It's the same ideas
- 33:42Speaker 1: when a car leaves the dealership, it immediately slashes the
- 33:45Speaker 1: price of what the car is. The second you drive
- 33:47Speaker 1: that car, it is now not worth a lot. It's gone.
- 33:50Speaker 1: It's over.
- 33:51Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I'm right there with you.
- 33:53Speaker 2: Did you see where the Florida six foot or seven
- 33:57Speaker 2: foot nine Canadian center is. Olivier Rue is reportedly uh, well,
- 34:05Speaker 2: he's in the transfer portal. Are you ready to see
- 34:08Speaker 2: what he's asking for? Have you seen how much he's
- 34:10Speaker 2: asking It's like three million or something like that exactly.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Do you know what he averaged this past season? He
- 34:17Speaker 1: averaged point five points a game, point six rebounds per game.
- 34:23Speaker 1: Now no, granted he shot fifty percent, but how how
- 34:26Speaker 1: the heck?
- 34:27Speaker 2: This is what's wrong with these athletes today. You're he's
- 34:31Speaker 2: asking for three million dollars and is not proven at all.
- 34:36Speaker 1: The only thing he can say is, hey, guys, I'm
- 34:39Speaker 1: seven foot eighty five. I'm seven foot eighty five inches
- 34:42Speaker 1: and I weigh three hundred and thirty something pounds. Like, yeah,
- 34:46Speaker 1: I wasn't proven. But if I if you go to
- 34:49Speaker 1: a lower power for school or a high mid major
- 34:52Speaker 1: or something like that, one that has money, he'll get
- 34:55Speaker 1: starting minutes wherever he goes. He like that, Like just
- 34:58Speaker 1: because of how tall he he is, he will find
- 35:01Speaker 1: a team that will pay him and he will now
- 35:04Speaker 1: three point five, No, he will. He's not gonna make
- 35:05Speaker 1: that much money. This is straight from his agent. They're
- 35:08Speaker 1: just trying to hike his number up. He'll get a
- 35:10Speaker 1: million from somebody. Somebody, some sucker will pay him, right,
- 35:15Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 35:16Speaker 2: And can you imagine if he was playing a small
- 35:19Speaker 2: school like Bellerman or something like that here locally, I
- 35:21Speaker 2: would love it. Now Bellerman doesn't have that kind of money,
- 35:25Speaker 2: but if they could talk him into taking a price cut,
- 35:27Speaker 2: because three million, he'll never wants.
- 35:29Speaker 1: To make some serious money in college basketball. He could
- 35:31Speaker 1: go play somewhere like Bellerman for one year, absolutely dominate
- 35:35Speaker 1: the a Sun and average twenty three points a game,
- 35:38Speaker 1: and then next season he'd be worth three point five
- 35:40Speaker 1: million dollars.
- 35:42Speaker 3: No, I still don't think he would be.
- 35:44Speaker 2: Come on, coaches are gonna read between the lines and realize, well,
- 35:49Speaker 2: look at the competition he was playing. He's not worth
- 35:52Speaker 2: three and a half. He's not worth two and a
- 35:54Speaker 2: half million, not even two. I would say at best
- 35:57Speaker 2: a million.
- 35:58Speaker 1: The thing is, I want to agree with you, but
- 36:01Speaker 1: coaches are suckers. Coaches are suckers too, Like were you
- 36:04Speaker 1: right about that? There are there are people out there
- 36:06Speaker 1: that have the nil payroll and they have enough money
- 36:09Speaker 1: where they are willing to overpay for guys like that
- 36:13Speaker 1: just as a depth piece. We're like, hey, we'll give
- 36:14Speaker 1: you two point five, but you're gonna be the eighth
- 36:16Speaker 1: man on the rotation. And you know what, He'll be like, sure, wow,
- 36:19Speaker 1: why not? It's because it's just because they have more
- 36:22Speaker 1: money than the rest. It's the same. It's the issue
- 36:24Speaker 1: with football, right or sorry, it's the issue with major
- 36:26Speaker 1: League Baseball. The Yankees can go out to anywhere they want,
- 36:29Speaker 1: pay anybody whatever amount of money they want, and there
- 36:32Speaker 1: they are willing to you know, Okay, well we gave
- 36:35Speaker 1: this guy three hundred million dollars and he kind of sucks.
- 36:38Speaker 1: We'll just trade them whenever it's contracts up. They have
- 36:40Speaker 1: enough money, they're willing to miss on those guys, and
- 36:42Speaker 1: they got There are teams in college basketball now they're
- 36:44Speaker 1: willing to do that.
- 36:45Speaker 2: And you know, there's a number of play athletes out there.
- 36:48Speaker 2: I mean, they need to get all they can in
- 36:49Speaker 2: college because unless something changes drastically with a lot of
- 36:53Speaker 2: these athletes, uh, they're just gonna have to go out
- 36:55Speaker 2: and get a regular job. I mean, I don't see
- 36:58Speaker 2: him playing professionally. Maybe for a small European team or
- 37:03Speaker 2: Asian team or something like that, but he's not going
- 37:05Speaker 2: to be doing anything else. I mean, I do like
- 37:08Speaker 2: this though. I think this is a great fit for Modabaatee.
- 37:12Speaker 6: Uh.
- 37:13Speaker 2: They say Rick Patino's been recruiting him to come to
- 37:16Speaker 2: Saint John's and I think that would be a fantastic
- 37:19Speaker 2: fit for Modea Botte.
- 37:20Speaker 1: That would be his exact play style. Yes, you don't
- 37:23Speaker 1: need to shoot your you know, pounding the pain. It's
- 37:26Speaker 1: a lot of physical basketball that would like Rick Patino
- 37:29Speaker 1: would be a coach that can get the most out
- 37:30Speaker 1: of me O Diabate.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, we got to take another break.
- 37:34Speaker 2: When we come back, I do want to talk about
- 37:36Speaker 2: a former player that looks like he's headed somewhere else,
- 37:40Speaker 2: as well as what do you think about the Justice
- 37:43Speaker 2: Department that is investigating the NFL.
- 37:48Speaker 1: I love this story because I think this is great
- 37:50Speaker 1: for every fan out there. We'll talk about that as well.
- 37:53Speaker 2: If you want to call in fibo two three four
- 37:54Speaker 2: fourteen fifty, you want to text in, you can do
- 37:57Speaker 2: it five oh two four one four fourteen fifty. Will
- 38:00Speaker 2: get back to those as soon as we get back
- 38:01Speaker 2: as well. In the Whiskey Heef text line, stay right there, Moredica.
- 38:09Speaker 5: And he got scared and left the bar walking on
- 38:13Speaker 5: home because he didn't left.
- 38:26Speaker 1: Georgia. And why is Georgia the theme today? Is? There
- 38:36Speaker 1: is there a reason we're talking about Georgia? Are you serious?
- 38:41Speaker 1: This isn't a joke?
- 38:43Speaker 2: Oh I wasn't even thinking. Okay, sorry, all right, I
- 38:48Speaker 2: got it.
- 38:48Speaker 3: I got it.
- 38:49Speaker 2: Took me for a minute. Well okay, yeah, I got it.
- 38:52Speaker 2: It's Georgia. Okay, I know Augustin National.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Disrespect Reva McIntyre like that. I don't like Reva. Man.
- 39:00Speaker 1: That's a single mom that works two jobs and loves
- 39:01Speaker 1: their kids and never stops. Okay, well, good for her.
- 39:04Speaker 2: You know, if I have to hear her sing, I
- 39:06Speaker 2: wouldn't be If I didn't have to hear her sing,
- 39:08Speaker 2: I wouldn't be missing a thing the rest of my life. So, yeah,
- 39:11Speaker 2: are you a Riba McIntyre fan? I would be shocked
- 39:14Speaker 2: if you said yes.
- 39:15Speaker 1: No, not really. I watched the show as a kid,
- 39:17Speaker 1: and I've heard like some of her songs. I'm not
- 39:18Speaker 1: like a.
- 39:19Speaker 2: Fan, man, I yeah, I didn't. What was the name
- 39:22Speaker 2: of her show, that's it? Yeah, Riba.
- 39:26Speaker 1: I used to I lived with my grandma for a
- 39:28Speaker 1: while and she loved Riba, So when I was a
- 39:30Speaker 1: little kid, I used to watch it with her.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Is she one of those entertainers that you know her
- 39:36Speaker 2: only by her first name?
- 39:38Speaker 1: I mean, I know, I guess yeah, probably, Like it's
- 39:42Speaker 1: A it's a very pot like it's a it's a
- 39:44Speaker 1: kind of interesting different first name. So like I feel
- 39:46Speaker 1: like if I go to nine out of ten people
- 39:48Speaker 1: in the street and say Hey, do you know who
- 39:50Speaker 1: Riba is? They would know I'm talking about Reeba McIntyre.
- 39:52Speaker 2: All right, who are famous people that are known by
- 39:57Speaker 2: one name? You said Riba is one. I think there's
- 40:04Speaker 2: a lot more than that. MESSI like the soccer player Fair.
- 40:08Speaker 2: I think that, but his name is so unusual. I agree,
- 40:12Speaker 2: But I think MESSI I would know you were talking
- 40:13Speaker 2: about soccer. Is there a famous Is there a famous
- 40:18Speaker 2: tennis player that you can think of with just one name?
- 40:23Speaker 1: Roger? Roger Roger Federer. Yeah, that's a pretty basic verse
- 40:28Speaker 1: name that I feel like this because he's popular. You
- 40:31Speaker 1: think so?
- 40:32Speaker 3: Yeah, football player?
- 40:36Speaker 1: Uh, it doesn't need to be like a unique name.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Or can it be a pretty basic name?
- 40:41Speaker 2: I think it can be anything you think is gonna be.
- 40:44Speaker 2: Everybody's gonna know. I think there's several.
- 40:46Speaker 1: The most basic name I can throw out that if
- 40:48Speaker 1: I say it, you probably know what I'm talking about
- 40:50Speaker 1: is Chad Chad Johnson, j Cinco. Oh Ojo No.
- 40:56Speaker 2: See if you said o Jo Sinko, I would know
- 40:58Speaker 2: exactly who you're talking about. See if I said Emmett,
- 41:01Speaker 2: if I said Dion, if I said Eli, you know
- 41:04Speaker 2: exactly who I'm talking about. But today, even if I
- 41:11Speaker 2: said Joe, you would know who I'm talking about. Even
- 41:13Speaker 2: though I'm talking about Joe Burrow, you gotta say Joe Burrow.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Yeah, because you can talk about Joe Montana.
- 41:17Speaker 2: I can talk about several Joe's out there basketball players.
- 41:21Speaker 2: I think Lebron would be one, without a doubt.
- 41:26Speaker 1: Nicola.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Yes, But as far as let's talk about movie stars
- 41:35Speaker 2: or musicians, I think Prince is one.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Nobody ever knew his last name anyway, even though it.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Was that's also like a stage name. So does that
- 41:43Speaker 1: count absolutely because that was really his name. That was
- 41:47Speaker 1: really his name.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Prince Rogers Nelson was really his name.
- 41:51Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 41:52Speaker 2: I don't know what his name was, so that makes sense.
- 41:53Speaker 2: Just like Madonna, Madonna is really her name. Cher I
- 41:58Speaker 2: think is another one. Share Taylor, Come on, yeah, even
- 42:04Speaker 2: I mentioned that and you like her and I don't.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I think if I said Taylor, you know exactly what
- 42:08Speaker 2: I exactly what you're talking about. Bono is another one.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Slash Slash is a perfect one. Now, I don't think
- 42:16Speaker 2: that's his real name, No, that's definitely that can't Yeah,
- 42:20Speaker 2: but you know I know exactly who you're talking about.
- 42:23Speaker 2: I don't think you would know Eddie if I said
- 42:25Speaker 2: Eddie van Taylor. I mean, Elton is a perfect one.
- 42:31Speaker 2: I can't think of many actors though. I mean because
- 42:35Speaker 2: if I said Robert, you can think of Robert Daval,
- 42:37Speaker 2: Robert de Niro, There's all kinds of Roberts.
- 42:39Speaker 1: Leonardo.
- 42:41Speaker 3: Leonardo's a perfect one. That is one.
- 42:43Speaker 1: Definitely, I would, Uh, I know exactly who you're talking about.
- 42:48Speaker 3: But I think there aren't many actors I can think of.
- 42:52Speaker 2: No.
- 42:52Speaker 1: I feel like because when we were when at least
- 42:54Speaker 1: when I was growing up, when I was younger, a
- 42:56Speaker 1: lot of actors used stage names a lot like they
- 42:59Speaker 1: kind of they would change their name for their acting career.
- 43:01Speaker 1: You know, it's just just sounded better on like in credits.
- 43:04Speaker 1: And I think a lot of actors now use their
- 43:06Speaker 1: actual names a lot more. Yeah, it sounds a lot
- 43:08Speaker 1: more basic. Well, it's kind of like John Mellencamp. You
- 43:11Speaker 1: know who John Mellencamp is, right, Well, when he first
- 43:15Speaker 1: came out with his original song Hurt So Good, I
- 43:17Speaker 1: think it was his first number one he went by
- 43:20Speaker 1: because his record label said, you need to go buy
- 43:23Speaker 1: a different name.
- 43:24Speaker 2: Nobody wants to call you Mellencamp. So he went by
- 43:27Speaker 2: John Johnny Couger, which is I think that was a
- 43:31Speaker 2: fake name. But then over time it was Johnny Couger
- 43:33Speaker 2: to Johnny Cougar Mellencamp to where he just totally dropped
- 43:36Speaker 2: the Cougar and then he became John Mellencamp was just like,
- 43:40Speaker 2: why wouldn't you just let him use their name? I
- 43:43Speaker 2: never got it. But anyway, if they want to use
- 43:47Speaker 2: their name, I think that's fine. Josh texted out, Denzel,
- 43:53Speaker 2: that's a perfect way, Denzel Washington, I know exactly who
- 43:56Speaker 2: you do. If I said Jack, I don't think you'd
- 43:59Speaker 2: know who. You could be Jack human, It could be
- 44:02Speaker 2: Jack Nicholson, Nicholson, it could be all kinds of Jacks.
- 44:09Speaker 2: But there aren't many actors I can think of this,
- 44:11Speaker 2: just one name. How do we get started talking about this?
- 44:14Speaker 1: By the way, I don't know.
- 44:15Speaker 3: I don't know where my mind goes sometimes.
- 44:18Speaker 2: One person said, Michael's reaction to hearing that Louisville is
- 44:21Speaker 2: not the South is sounding like a toddler finding out
- 44:24Speaker 2: Santa isn't real. Well, if you tell me that the
- 44:28Speaker 2: Easter Buddy is not real too, you're gonna lose you're
- 44:30Speaker 2: gonna have me lose it too.
- 44:31Speaker 1: But Santa is right till they tell you about the
- 44:33Speaker 1: Tooth Fairy.
- 44:35Speaker 2: No, they're all real. I'm telling you they are. I'm
- 44:39Speaker 2: not gonna sit here on the radio and say none
- 44:41Speaker 2: of those are real. Of course they're real. Don't look
- 44:46Speaker 2: at me that way. Please, you just keep talking.
- 44:49Speaker 1: You do what you gotta do.
- 44:51Speaker 2: I know, well, you never know who all's listening out there. Okay,
- 44:54Speaker 2: so I'm gonna say that Santa is real. The Tooth
- 44:57Speaker 2: Fairy is definitely winning. So it is the Easter Bundy
- 44:59Speaker 2: for all.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Just all the seven year old children at eight eighty
- 45:02Speaker 1: seven am on a Friday listening. Exactly, all your fairy
- 45:06Speaker 1: tale dreams will come true. I promise, yes they will. Exactly.
- 45:10Speaker 2: What did you think about the G League player that
- 45:13Speaker 2: Mark Pope was looking at, Deep Pate committing to of
- 45:18Speaker 2: all places, Providence, not just Deep Pate but also Miles Byrd,
- 45:23Speaker 2: another player, the kid from San Diego State where UK
- 45:28Speaker 2: was supposedly in talks with him. What's going on at Providence.
- 45:31Speaker 1: Matthew, I mean, Providence has decent nil they it's a
- 45:37Speaker 1: pretty storied program, but they and they also just brought
- 45:40Speaker 1: in Brian Hodgson, who's a brand new head coach. I
- 45:42Speaker 1: know that they definitely probably want to buy into him
- 45:45Speaker 1: for those first season, but it is surprising that one
- 45:49Speaker 1: I figured we wouldn't see anybody as big as the
- 45:51Speaker 1: name of Miles Bird commit to anybody before their first visit.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Nobody's visited any schools, yet they're not allowed to today.
- 45:59Speaker 1: They are today is the any players in the portal
- 46:01Speaker 1: are allowed to visit. So they must be paying those
- 46:04Speaker 1: two players a significant amount of money. Because Miles Bird
- 46:08Speaker 1: committed at like one pm yesterday. He didn't even sit
- 46:12Speaker 1: in the portal for more than forty eight hours.
- 46:15Speaker 3: Yeah, isn't that silly?
- 46:17Speaker 5: Though?
- 46:17Speaker 2: When the portal opens, you can't make any visits. Shouldn't
- 46:20Speaker 2: you shouldn't it be allowed When the portal opens, you
- 46:22Speaker 2: should be allowed to go visit.
- 46:25Speaker 1: I don't. I'm kind of.
- 46:30Speaker 2: Why why hold it up a couple of days? I
- 46:31Speaker 2: don't understand what the reasoning is behind this. If the
- 46:34Speaker 2: portal is opened, they should be allowed to go whatever
- 46:37Speaker 2: wherever they want to go.
- 46:38Speaker 1: I want to go to visit. I honestly think I
- 46:40Speaker 1: believe it's for this is this is a speculation, obviously,
- 46:43Speaker 1: have no information on this. I believe it's for the
- 46:45Speaker 1: teams that are still deep in the tournament at that point,
- 46:47Speaker 1: because it literally opened at midnight after the National Championship
- 46:50Speaker 1: was over. So if you allowed players to take visits immediately,
- 46:55Speaker 1: then oh, well, Michigan's gonna miss out on like ten
- 46:57Speaker 1: like fifth the top fifteen players or not, you know
- 46:59Speaker 1: what I mean. Like Yukon's not getting any visits from
- 47:01Speaker 1: those guys because they're focused on playing. So I think
- 47:03Speaker 1: it's to give them like a two day buffer zone
- 47:06Speaker 1: to come back and set up those visits and stuff.
- 47:09Speaker 1: But I agree with you though, I think that if
- 47:11Speaker 1: it's open, they should be able to visit whatever they want.
- 47:13Speaker 2: Well, then then delay the opening of it if that's
- 47:16Speaker 2: the case. But that's the price you play for being
- 47:20Speaker 2: in the National Championship game. So it's a it's you know,
- 47:23Speaker 2: let the other teams have a little bit. I agree
- 47:25Speaker 2: with it, But if if, if they're going to do
- 47:28Speaker 2: it this way, then you're allowed to visit today, right?
- 47:34Speaker 2: Was it today or yesterday? I forget, it doesn't matter.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Whatever day you were allowed to visit, that's when the
- 47:39Speaker 2: portal should be opening up. Not that I think it's silly,
- 47:42Speaker 2: just a couple of days.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Yeah, oh, sorry about that.
- 47:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, okay, well we got to take off our
- 47:50Speaker 1: two coming up right now, stay right there. More Just
- 47:53Speaker 1: the Cats, same.
- 48:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:08Speaker 1: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 48:14Speaker 2: All right, our number two on this Friday. I hope
- 48:18Speaker 2: everybody has a big weekend planned. Uh, but I do
- 48:22Speaker 2: want to mention a couple of things. Uh uh for
- 48:25Speaker 2: those of you that do follow.
- 48:27Speaker 5: Uh.
- 48:27Speaker 2: There is a graded Steaks race tomorrow at Keenlan in
- 48:32Speaker 2: which one of the horses I'm involved in is going
- 48:35Speaker 2: to be racing, Corona Diorro.
- 48:36Speaker 5: Uh.
- 48:37Speaker 1: I hate to tell you, I don't even remember which
- 48:39Speaker 1: Steakes race it is, but it's the first one for him,
- 48:42Speaker 1: first one we've had in our our little partnership, so
- 48:45Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to it.
- 48:46Speaker 2: He's trained by Dallas Stewart, really really really good looking horse,
- 48:52Speaker 2: very athletic. Uh and and from day one Dallas has
- 48:56Speaker 2: just been all over this horse. So uh, good luck
- 48:59Speaker 2: to to Corona de Diorro tomorrow, so hopefully he does well.
- 49:03Speaker 2: The only bad part about it, Matthew, is that he
- 49:06Speaker 2: is on the rail and uh so that's not good.
- 49:10Speaker 2: He hasn't done well from the rail, so we'll see
- 49:13Speaker 2: how that goes. But anyway, and the other exciting part
- 49:16Speaker 2: is uh, our little Philly that I bought last month.
- 49:21Speaker 2: Her name is Her Honor by greatest honor uh and
- 49:26Speaker 2: out of Pioneer of New York, is being shipped this
- 49:30Speaker 2: afternoon up to Laurel Park over in outside of Baltimore.
- 49:34Speaker 2: So she's a New York bread. She'll be racing mostly
- 49:37Speaker 2: in New York, but they'll Horacio Depas, who's her trainer,
- 49:41Speaker 2: who I love. He's a former trainer under Todd Pletcher
- 49:45Speaker 2: amongst other people, but really really really uh up and
- 49:49Speaker 2: coming trainer out there that I'm real excited about. But
- 49:52Speaker 2: so he's going to be training our little Philly her uh,
- 49:55Speaker 2: her Honor so and that's where she'll be based and
- 49:57Speaker 2: when she races, she'll be vanned up to New York.
- 50:01Speaker 2: And because it saves a bunch of money. I mean,
- 50:03Speaker 2: that's why you don't want to keep a horse in
- 50:05Speaker 2: New York when it costs so much money up there.
- 50:08Speaker 2: So anyway, that's a little tidbit on sceny Kill Stable.
- 50:11Speaker 2: If you're int that, go check the website out by
- 50:13Speaker 2: the way syney Killstable dot com and you'll see a
- 50:16Speaker 2: lot more. You'll see a bunch of the horses we
- 50:17Speaker 2: have that are going to be uh auctioned off next
- 50:21Speaker 2: month over at Timonium, the mid Atlantic Phasic Tipton sale.
- 50:25Speaker 2: So anyway, but check that out. Let's talk about this.
- 50:30Speaker 2: The NFL is being investigated by the Justice Department. Have
- 50:36Speaker 2: you seen this story, Matthew, I have not. They are
- 50:41Speaker 2: investigating into whether the NFL is forcing football fans to
- 50:46Speaker 2: pay too much money in subscription fees.
- 50:49Speaker 1: Oh well, they're gonna win that investigation. See that's what
- 50:52Speaker 1: I thought. I think. I think that I'm a good
- 50:54Speaker 1: enough investigator to figure that one out.
- 50:57Speaker 2: So you feel like the NFL is taking a vantage.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Of fans, Uh, yes, yes, very much. So are are
- 51:05Speaker 1: they the worst culprit to doing this? Or do you
- 51:08Speaker 1: feel like the NBA is just as much guilty the
- 51:11Speaker 1: m MLB, NHL all of them or do you think
- 51:15Speaker 1: it's mostly the NFL. I don't watch enough of the
- 51:19Speaker 1: NHL to speak on that front. I watch it like
- 51:22Speaker 1: I watch all the one like I watch it decent
- 51:23Speaker 1: on primetime TV. But I don't know. Yes, I don't
- 51:26Speaker 1: follow any specifically. The rest of the league's NBA, MLB,
- 51:30Speaker 1: all of them, one hundred percent. They're just as bad.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Like if you follow almost any team, unless it's the
- 51:36Speaker 1: Dodgers or the Yankees or the Mets or something like that,
- 51:38Speaker 1: like a major team, you gotta go buy FanDuel Sports
- 51:41Speaker 1: Network to watch them. You gotta go buy this package.
- 51:43Speaker 1: You gotta go buy this package to watch your team.
- 51:46Speaker 1: And it's not I mean, we got NFL games on
- 51:49Speaker 1: Netflix now, we got we got NBA games on I mean,
- 51:54Speaker 1: the NBA League Pass, we got it. We got all
- 51:56Speaker 1: these games everywhere. It's to the point where I need
- 52:00Speaker 1: seven differ subscriptions to watch any games in the leagues
- 52:02Speaker 1: that I want to watch, and if you want to
- 52:04Speaker 1: watch ones on Primetime TV, you can. It's just the
- 52:06Speaker 1: same three teams over and over and over again. So
- 52:08Speaker 1: it's just exactly boring. It's not fun to watch it. Yes,
- 52:11Speaker 1: I think they're all just equally bad.
- 52:13Speaker 2: And unless you're a U of L fan that lives
- 52:16Speaker 2: in Louisville, Kentucky, you get the Baltimore game and you
- 52:19Speaker 2: love that. You get to watch Baltimore and Lamar and Lamar,
- 52:22Speaker 2: that's another one. Lamar, you would know who I was
- 52:24Speaker 2: talking about. But especially for U of L fan or
- 52:28Speaker 2: from Louisville. But I get sick and tired of watching Baltimore.
- 52:32Speaker 2: I don't flip and care about the Ravens. I don't
- 52:35Speaker 2: care about the Green Bay Packers. I don't care about
- 52:37Speaker 2: the Indianapolis Colts or the Tennessee Titans. The fact that Louisville,
- 52:41Speaker 2: Kentucky is closer to Cincinnati and yet the Louisville stations
- 52:46Speaker 2: are forced to play Colts games drives me nuts. It
- 52:52Speaker 2: just simply does. I mean, God, I am really complaining
- 52:55Speaker 2: a lot today. I gotta get back on my whole
- 52:58Speaker 2: positive spirit. I mean, this is the this is ridiculous.
- 53:00Speaker 2: But I don't like these rants. But I do get
- 53:03Speaker 2: sick and tired of that. And I like this because, uh,
- 53:07Speaker 2: now you're having to subscribe to what all you have Prime,
- 53:10Speaker 2: you have to subscribe to now Netflix as well as
- 53:15Speaker 2: NFL and uh and then you get to watch some
- 53:19Speaker 2: games for free. But the fact that they're going to
- 53:22Speaker 2: Prime and Netflix and having to pay for those subscriptions,
- 53:27Speaker 2: I'm with them. I'm glad the Justice Department is doing
- 53:29Speaker 2: this because it's only going to get worse. UH MLB
- 53:33Speaker 2: does it, NBA does it, and you know, it's getting
- 53:36Speaker 2: to a point to where college is going to be
- 53:40Speaker 2: doing it because they have to.
- 53:42Speaker 3: They have to follow.
- 53:43Speaker 2: Suit in order to be able to afford all of
- 53:46Speaker 2: these salaries they're now playing for athletes.
- 53:49Speaker 1: The one funny thing is so like, like, as we
- 53:51Speaker 1: know on the show, I watch a lot of soccer.
- 53:54Speaker 1: So over in Europe they have the same issue. But
- 53:57Speaker 1: the thing is their biggest sport obviously is soccer. They
- 53:59Speaker 1: don't have football, basketball and all this stuff to pay
- 54:01Speaker 1: attention to. Excuse me, it's just soccer. Over there, they
- 54:06Speaker 1: have like Sky Sports and they have this sports. They
- 54:09Speaker 1: have this sports and it covers their favorite teams and
- 54:11Speaker 1: other favorite teams. But in America, the big most watched
- 54:15Speaker 1: league for Americans is the English Premier League. All of
- 54:19Speaker 1: the English Premier League is just on Peacock. It's on
- 54:22Speaker 1: one streaming service the whole league. And if it's not
- 54:25Speaker 1: on there, it's on TV, so you can watch it
- 54:27Speaker 1: on Primetime TV every Saturday. So English people over in
- 54:31Speaker 1: Britain are angry about that because Americans are have an
- 54:36Speaker 1: easier format to watch all the soccer they want. Oh really,
- 54:40Speaker 1: who own the sport? Wow? Because they don't get Peacock
- 54:44Speaker 1: and stuff like that. That's an American service that like,
- 54:47Speaker 1: so like they have to because I think it's Sky
- 54:50Speaker 1: Sports over there owns the rights of the Premier League and
- 54:52Speaker 1: stuff like that, so they don't own an over in America.
- 54:54Speaker 1: So yeah, they're angry because it's more convenient here than
- 54:57Speaker 1: it is in the home country of the sport.
- 55:00Speaker 2: But that's that's because there's a demand over there where
- 55:03Speaker 2: it's not a demand over here.
- 55:04Speaker 3: That's why.
- 55:05Speaker 2: So, uh, the reason they're doing it that way in
- 55:09Speaker 2: the United States because of the fact that they don't
- 55:11Speaker 2: have that demand and until they do, it's always going
- 55:14Speaker 2: to remain that way. So uh, that's interesting. I did
- 55:18Speaker 2: not realize that. But listen, the only thing that I
- 55:21Speaker 2: fear is that it's going to get worse and then
- 55:23Speaker 2: it's going to transpire down to college athletics because of
- 55:27Speaker 2: the fact they get a figure way to afford all
- 55:29Speaker 2: these athletes. So I worry that if it doesn't stop,
- 55:33Speaker 2: it's just going to go stairstep. The only thing about
- 55:36Speaker 2: so many other things.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Is I don't know how that would work because there
- 55:40Speaker 1: are so many teams like it would it would have
- 55:43Speaker 1: to be like regionally based, like Okay, the Midwest region
- 55:46Speaker 1: is on Netflix, the Southern region is on or like
- 55:49Speaker 1: maybe by conference.
- 55:50Speaker 3: That's a great idea, yes, Like.
- 55:52Speaker 1: So the SEC is always on this streaming service. Now,
- 55:55Speaker 1: that's not I don't think it's a I don't think
- 55:56Speaker 1: it's a good idea. I would like that to happen.
- 55:58Speaker 1: But I feel like that's the way they have to
- 56:01Speaker 1: do it, because you couldn't just say, Okay, well today
- 56:04Speaker 1: the Kentucky game is on Peacock, but the next week
- 56:07Speaker 1: the Kentucky game is on this service. It would have
- 56:08Speaker 1: to be exactly like sectioned off geographically or something like that.
- 56:12Speaker 3: It has to be consistent.
- 56:13Speaker 2: Otherwise, You're right, we're just going to go broke with
- 56:16Speaker 2: all the paying services that we got to pay, and
- 56:18Speaker 2: I'm tired of paying them. I'm getting to a point
- 56:20Speaker 2: now it's like I guess I won't watch it. Or
- 56:23Speaker 2: there's that little box people keep talking about. I've tried
- 56:26Speaker 2: one of those and they work really well. And guess
- 56:29Speaker 2: why I don't pay for a thing.
- 56:30Speaker 1: The first world problem I have with those things is
- 56:34Speaker 1: obviously all streamed. Yeah, you're like fifteen seconds behind all
- 56:38Speaker 1: the time.
- 56:39Speaker 3: I'm okay with that.
- 56:40Speaker 1: I'm fine with it, but I always forget when I
- 56:43Speaker 1: watch games on it because I have like Paulina's family
- 56:45Speaker 1: has one my old roommate used to have when he's
- 56:47Speaker 1: watch all the games on it. I have to remember
- 56:49Speaker 1: to term my notifications on my phone off because it
- 56:51Speaker 1: spoils the game for me. Yes, I'll get a notification
- 56:54Speaker 1: and then like a whole minute later on my TV
- 56:57Speaker 1: it happens like, well, I know there's a home run,
- 56:58Speaker 1: now get ready, guys.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Well, I think the crazy thing is Even at my house,
- 57:04Speaker 2: there is a delay between different TVs. So for instance,
- 57:07Speaker 2: I'll be I'll be in one section of the house
- 57:10Speaker 2: watching a game, like when the last time UK was
- 57:14Speaker 2: playing in the national title game. I'll never forget this.
- 57:17Speaker 2: I'm watching it in one room with one son. My
- 57:20Speaker 2: wife is watching in another room with our other son.
- 57:24Speaker 2: They're reacting before I am, so I already know something's big.
- 57:28Speaker 2: How the heck can you be in the same house
- 57:31Speaker 2: and it's delayed at two different TVs in the same place.
- 57:36Speaker 2: That's what drives me nuts because I'll turn on one
- 57:39Speaker 2: TV and I'll see, oh, there's a horse race going on,
- 57:41Speaker 2: and then on the other TV it's the horse race
- 57:43Speaker 2: is already done.
- 57:44Speaker 3: How does that happen?
- 57:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it now in terms of because everything
- 57:48Speaker 1: is streamed, right, so it goes to the internet. Maybe
- 57:50Speaker 1: the connection on one of them is better than the
- 57:51Speaker 1: other ones. But yeah, it used to happen back when
- 57:53Speaker 1: we had cable in my house too. It's a hard
- 57:56Speaker 1: wired connection. So I don't know how either of these
- 57:58Speaker 1: can be possibly behind each other. Just it doesn't make
- 58:00Speaker 1: any sense.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Are we going to get to a point where we
- 58:03Speaker 2: just simply go back? You know, we're so excited getting
- 58:05Speaker 2: away from cable, you think we're gonna go back to
- 58:08Speaker 2: cable one day.
- 58:10Speaker 3: I'm almost feeling like we do.
- 58:12Speaker 1: I there's a chance we do. I think it's a
- 58:14Speaker 1: very high chance. But the thing is is if you
- 58:16Speaker 1: want to go back to cable, and if cable wants
- 58:18Speaker 1: to bring people back, they need to create something like
- 58:22Speaker 1: this isn't this isn't a plug, something like like direct
- 58:25Speaker 1: TV would do, or like they have all these services
- 58:27Speaker 1: you can get on your cable, like they have NFL
- 58:29Speaker 1: Sunday ticket, they have it be a league. They can
- 58:31Speaker 1: put everything in one right, so like yeah, you'd bay,
- 58:34Speaker 1: they would have to do it like that. Whereas if
- 58:36Speaker 1: if if Spectrum wanted to get back into the cable business,
- 58:38Speaker 1: and you know, like they owned Louisville for Laura. It
- 58:40Speaker 1: was Time Warner Cable back then. I think it was
- 58:43Speaker 1: like owned Louisvill, right, and they would need to say, hey, look,
- 58:47Speaker 1: if you spend ninety dollars a month, I know it's
- 58:50Speaker 1: a little bit more of than regular cable, we'll put
- 58:52Speaker 1: your Peacock, we'll put your Netflix, we'll put your this
- 58:55Speaker 1: and that all on cable, and you get live TV.
- 58:58Speaker 1: That would be the only possible way that would ever work,
- 59:01Speaker 1: because then yeah, you you'll get cable so you can
- 59:04Speaker 1: watch your games you want. But the end of the day,
- 59:06Speaker 1: the thing, the reason people love the streaming services still
- 59:08Speaker 1: even though they're ridiculously priced, is the convenience of you
- 59:11Speaker 1: being able to watch these shows and movies whatever you want, right,
- 59:15Speaker 1: That's that's that's that's the thing. So if you're trading
- 59:18Speaker 1: cable for that convenience, I actually still don't think it
- 59:20Speaker 1: would work. I think the people would realize, oh, I
- 59:23Speaker 1: actually still hate this. This is why we left.
- 59:26Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, well I just don't like being nickeled and dime.
- 59:32Speaker 2: I don't even that's yeah, just just let me choose
- 59:35Speaker 2: a package. You have multiple packages out there, but don't
- 59:38Speaker 2: separate one from the other, knowing you want both of these,
- 59:42Speaker 2: like for instance, I want uh.
- 59:46Speaker 3: SEC and ACC. Don't don't separate those.
- 59:51Speaker 2: They have to All college has to come in one list,
- 59:53Speaker 2: and then all pro has to come in one list.
- 59:55Speaker 3: And if you want college grade, if you want pro grade.
- 59:57Speaker 2: But I mean, once they start doing well, you'll get
- 1:00:00Speaker 2: part of this over here and part of this over there.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: It's like, okay, now you're back to nickel and diamond
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: me where I need to have both, and it's just
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: like it irritates me. And because cost prohibitive, just way
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: too much money out.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: There, there is no way this would ever happen, just
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: because there's too much greed out there, and the networks
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: would never want it because they wouldn't make as much money.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Probably my dream scenario for watching television, because I don't
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: watch TV shows. I watch movies every once in a while,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: but I don't watch them on TV. I just you know,
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I get them on Netflix or something. If there was
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: a service I don't, you could charge me, honestly, whatever
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: you want, three hundred dollars or whatever. I figure it
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: out where for every sport. I got to pick my
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: favorite team. You only get one for each sport. You
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: get to pick one time and you get every game
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: for that team. But like I said, you can up
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: charge me. You could. I'll pay whatever I want as
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: long as I can guarantee that, Hey, I can get
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: the Patriots games, I can get the Pacers games. I
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: can get the Utah Mammoths games if I want them.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: But guess what, I'm paying two hundred dollars a month.
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: That's why I get to go past the there's no blackouts,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: there's no this and that, there's no happening to get
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: streaming services. If I could get all of that in
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: one I would pay a network whatever they asked me for.
- 1:01:16Speaker 2: That is a well, I'm not gonna pay whatever they
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: ask for. I mean, let's be realistic about this. But
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: that's a gigantic yes. Because you know, when you go
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: to ESPN, they ask you what your favorite teams are,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: and it's always UK, Cyndinata, Bingals, Reds and so on.
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: So yeah, if I could pick the teams that I
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: love the most, and that's what I'm gonna get on
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: my television, I would be a resounding gigantic. Yes, that
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: would be fantastic, but it's just too simple for them.
- 1:01:43Speaker 2: I mean, they'll never want to do that because they
- 1:01:46Speaker 2: know they can make more money, and that's what they're
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: all about. They got a public company's got to make
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: sure there's stock prices going up, just like Oh my gosh,
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: man John here, Michael and Matthew. What if I said
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: Garth for music and Jordan for basketball actor, what about
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: Billy Bob?
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: Those are great names, all.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: Right, so uh Brett for football, Brett Farr, Brett Farr.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: Yes, but there's a former baseball player that also went
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: by Brett. Played for the Kansas City Royals Brett. I
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: can't think of his last name. Okay, I know, I'm sorry, Uh,
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: but yeah, he played third baseman.
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:02:25Speaker 2: He's the one you always see the if you see
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: a Kansas City Royal baseball player, somebody's going to text
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: me right now and let me know his name, uh Brett.
- 1:02:34Speaker 2: And evidently there was a delayed call of calling him
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: out and he starts running from the dugout to the umpire.
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: I mean it's a famous video, but anyway, those are
- 1:02:46Speaker 2: good ones. But you know we said first names, so Jordan,
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: but I guess I would allow a last name Jordan definitely.
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: I know you mean Garth Brooks and Billy Bob Thornton,
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: also Chandler and a lot of other college athletes should
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: not take a million dollars. I hope they change this soon. Well,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: why shouldn't they take a million dollars? I mean, if
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: they're offering it to them, I know I would take it.
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: I think the I think they're meaning like they shouldn't
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: be asking for that. I'm guessing why not. I don't know.
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like, maybe because they don't think they're
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: worth it, Like maybe they think the players shouldn't be
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: able to ask for as much as they're saying, like
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: there should be regulations on maybe this is how much
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: you can get. I don't know.
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: I'm just guessing, Well, there needs to become a limit
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: how much schools can spend, just like they you know,
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: you just mentioned a little bit ago. That's what's so
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: wrong with Major League Baseball is that the same teams
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: win every single year for the most part. That's why
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: the NFL is so wildly successful is because every team
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: is playing on a level field. Well, the same thing
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: HAPs to happen to college athletics. Otherwise we're going to
- 1:03:56Speaker 2: see the same teams win every year and it will
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: inevitably to me kill college sports if it hasn't already.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: But yeah, there's got to be so many drastic changes
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: and we all know that. But one person texted in
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: the MLB is the absolute worse for trying to watch
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: games and needing multiple subscriptions. It's a joke and dang
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: near criminal is the MLB? Do you need multiple subscriptions
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: for the MLB? I thought you just needed MLB and
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: that was it and you could get every game out there.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: Wrongly, you were if you were like just a Major
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: League Baseball ahead and you wanted to watch every game
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: possible that you could, yes, you would need multiple so
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: you would need It's like, for example, yesterday last year,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: I fully bought in. I was like, I want to
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: watch as many Reds games as possible, and they're on
- 1:04:43Speaker 1: the Fandel Sports Network. So if you buy the Fandel
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: Sports Network, you get every single Reds game, no matter
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: where they're playing at, you get every one of them. Okay,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: And it was like fifty dollars for the whole season.
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: Now see that's not bad, not bad. You got every
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Reds game. Now did I watch all hundred and six
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: or two?
- 1:04:58Speaker 5: No?
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: But like you get all right, but that didn't cover
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: the ones the wrong prom time TV. So therefore you
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: need YouTube TV or you know, cable or something. There's
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: also games now they have a deal with Apple TV,
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: so there's a games all the time on Apple TV.
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: So you need that too if you wanted all of them.
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: But yeah, you definitely need multiple.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: One person texted in this. This makes me laugh right here.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: We need a weekly what grinds my Gears segment with
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: Michael just ranting?
- 1:05:26Speaker 3: Is that something we need? Do we need me ranting
- 1:05:29Speaker 3: every once a week?
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: I mean can get it off your chest. Well, that
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: is true, and I could get a lot of stuff
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: off my chest. It would be good therapy for me.
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: I don't know if everybody would enjoy with all I
- 1:05:40Speaker 2: would have to rant, because I do have a lot
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: of stuff to rant. The one thing I do miss
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: and I meant to do it yesterday and I completely
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: fact for good is the gen Z moment. I mean,
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: we forgot to do that yesterday and I'm gonna miss
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: doing that. I just want you to know I'm still
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: not happy with they can do it today. Okay, good,
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: all right, I'll get prep about in the last time. Okay, good.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: Uh one Josh said Brett Butler, No, it was Brett Butler.
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: The next person said, George Bretton that's who it was,
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: and so his last name was Brett, not his first name.
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: George Brett played for the Kansas City Royals. Thank you
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: for texting me that in I really appreciate that.
- 1:06:17Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: One person said, Uh, I have been without cable for
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: eight years. Get to see everything. I use third party apps.
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: Not totally legal, but I am okay with it. Uh,
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: I'm okay with it. I'm an avid user as well. Yeah,
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: I listen. I started watching Tampa Bay Buccaneer games through
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: an app. I would just stream it from my phone
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: to the TV. Is I don't think I could. Can
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: you download the app that you use onto your TV
- 1:06:47Speaker 2: or are you streaming it through your phone? It's a website, okay,
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: so you have to stream stream it through your phone
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: to get to the TV.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: Correct. Yeah, And I have a problem with that.
- 1:06:57Speaker 2: Sometimes there's a little bit of a little bit of
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: a delay on it, but it's no big deal. At
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: least I'm watching on the television. They've made it so
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: easy now for TV from streaming from your phone directly
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: to your TV. I know it's a little expensive, but
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: I prefer Apple TV.
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: I like Apple TV, yeah, especially I don't have one
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: of my family does, and it's pretty convenient, especially if
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: you have an iPhone and stuff like that.
- 1:07:24Speaker 2: Exactly if you're all Apple like my family is, which
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: I swore up and down, I would never become an
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: Apple guy.
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: I'm all Apple, and I'll tell you right now.
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: I'm working on the computer right today as we speak
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: that's probably ten years old and never had a single
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: problem with it. They have good products right there. One
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: person said, here we go. Fancy pants beenning in in
- 1:07:47Speaker 2: seven TVs? Seventeen TVs? No, I don't have seventeen TVs.
- 1:07:52Speaker 2: I was just talking about two TVs. I never mentioned
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: anything about anything else. Fancy pants?
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: Am I fancy pants? Yes? No, I'm not stop it.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: LOUISVILLEES is a southern town, so anyway, No, I'm not
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: fancy pants. I'm just Michael Betty. That's all I am.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: Okay, all right, then, well we got to take another break.
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: So Fable two three four fourteen fifty you want to
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: call Fable two four one four fourteen fifty h Fancy
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Pants would like some more texts out there, so send
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: them in on the whiskey feed text Liner you tak
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: meat just a cat radio. When we get back, we
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: got to talk about some golf. It's time to talk masters.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: I know you're dying to talk about it, and I
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: know you got you have several things you want to
- 1:08:31Speaker 2: talk about, so we'll talk about that soon as we
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: get back.
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Stay right there, we'll be right back. This is just
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:08:36Speaker 6: But I'm a fiddle player too, and if you'd care
- 1:08:39Speaker 6: to take a dare, I'll make a bet with you.
- 1:08:41Speaker 1: Now.
- 1:08:41Speaker 6: You've played pretty good, fiddle boy, but give the devil
- 1:08:44Speaker 6: his due. I bet a fiddle of gold against your souls.
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: I think I'm better than you. The boy said, my
- 1:08:49Speaker 6: name's Johnny In It might be a sin.
- 1:08:51Speaker 3: You're pretty good, old son.
- 1:08:53Speaker 6: But sitting down in that chair right there and let
- 1:08:55Speaker 6: me show you how it's done.
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: Fo on the out run balls run.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: The Devil's in the house of the riset Sun, checking
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: into bread fan picking out though.
- 1:09:08Speaker 5: Granted all bout no town No.
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: Five O two three four fourteen fifty Call in if
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: you want to text in You can do that at
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: five O two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: I do want to talk about this though, as you know,
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: someone's texting me right now. Thank you very much for
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: that help, by the way, listener.
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: Uh, but I do want to talk about Uh did
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: you see the ticket prices this year for the Masters? No?
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: All right?
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Are you ready for how much a four day pass
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: costs for Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday? What do you
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna let you guess and I'll give you two tries.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: You're not going to come close.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: So is this if you've won the lottery for them
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: like or is this no no resale? This is stub
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: hub value buying straight tickets right now? Yes?
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: Yes, if you're just buying straight tickets. Not okay, because
- 1:10:20Speaker 2: do you know how much it costs to just through
- 1:10:23Speaker 2: the lottery. You know how much it is day?
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: I thought it was like one ten per day or
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: something like that, at.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: One hundred and sixty dollars per day if you buy
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: it directly from augustin.
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: Nash because I thought the four day pass was like
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: four hundred and fifty or something like that.
- 1:10:37Speaker 3: Or you are correct?
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: Yes, So now if you buy them second hand. How
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: much you think some of the tickets were going for
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: on stub hub for.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: A four day pass, I'm gonna say it's for one
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: four day pass ten thousand dollars. Yeah, I'll give you
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: one more try. Can you give me high or lower high?
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Twenty five thousand dollars?
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not even close.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: On stub Hub, they were between this is for a
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: four day pass for one person thirty four nine hundred dollars,
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: and someone else had one up for fifty six thousand dollars.
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: Are they even a cape? Are you even allowed to
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: sell your tickets to the masters?
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: Well?
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: See, that's another interesting point because a lot of people
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: were talking about what happened to them yesterday as the
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: I get tired of this as the golfing fans are
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: as Augusta National. Now you want to call me fancy
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: pants texter, let's talk about stinking Augusta National.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: You were not allowed to be called a golf fan.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: You're a patron, Yeah, and they're very particular about being
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: a patron. But they were telling certain patrons to go
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: through another line, to go through this one white tent.
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: A lot of people are saying it was a long line,
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: and once you got into that tent, they were as
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: seking them directly where specifically they got their tickets. Do
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: you like that Augusta National is doing that or does
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: that frustrate you?
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: No? I think it's stupid. Do you really like I
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: get the whole prestige of the of the Masters and
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Augusta National. I understand, but it's just like it it's
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: it's the most pretentious tournament of the year, as much
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: as I love the Masters. Like, while you were talking,
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: I was pulling up because you know, the whole patriot
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: thing isn't the only rule they have. They have a
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: bunch of strict broadcast rules that I saw the other day.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: I was I was trying to find them, Like, did
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: you know they're not allowed to say front or back
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: nine on the broadcast they have. They are they are
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: forced to use the phrase first nine and second nine
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: because something about it sounds front and back sounds negative.
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: I don't know that's what they said.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: That makes zero sense to me.
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: You're also not allowed to haul the rough the rough
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: you have to call it the second cut broadcast.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: Oh, come on, that's silly.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: You're not allowed to call it a country club it's
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: a golf club.
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: That part's true. Yeah, it is a golf club. I
- 1:13:11Speaker 3: agree with that part.
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: It can't be called the fourth round ever on broadcast,
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: you must always use final Round or Sunday.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: That makes me want to do everything the opposite. Now,
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: I do like that they're doing this with the patrons
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: that are coming in because of the fact that the
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: membership wants to keep the ticket prices down so people
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: everyone can afford them. So I kind of like that
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: they're trying to find out from these people very specific Now,
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: I'm sure it's very uncomfortable for those people because a
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: lot of times it might be from a corporate sponsor
- 1:13:47Speaker 2: or someone that they're they're a friend of a corporation
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: that went online to buy all these exuberant price tickets,
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: and they might be a little uncomfortable answering where those
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: tickets specifically came, and they might be worried that, hey,
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: you're gonna take my ticket away since I bought it
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: from somebody a scalper. So I would be uncomfortable from
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: that standpoint, But I like the thought process so that
- 1:14:13Speaker 2: they are trying to find out where this is coming
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: from and to get it to stop.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: I love that. Yeah, I don't mind, because I.
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: Think everyone should be allowed to go to the Augusta
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: National one day in the Masters.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't mind the whole stopping of the scalping situation.
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: Like I don't mind that they get to pick and
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: choose who's going like that. That's fine. That's how it's
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: always been. That's the appeal of it is you get lucky,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: you can get in, then you're a legacy and you
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: can buy him year of the year. I just the
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: issue with golf is that it's such an this is
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: gonna sound kind of bad. They try that. I've never
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: seen a sport want to be an old man's sport
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: so bad like they It's like traditionalist isn't even the
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: phrase I would use it as it's an old man's sport.
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: It's and the Masters is the depiction of that in
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: terms of It's like when you when you hand your
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: great great grandfather who's like eighty nine years old in
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: iPhone and it's like, hey, hey, Jim, here's your just
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: can you go through your email for me real quick?
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: And he's like screaming at you because he doesn't want
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: to get rid of his landline. That's the masters. Unfortunately,
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: like they it's it's so embedded in old ways, and
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I get that's the appeal.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: Right way, I see, I think that's the wrong way
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: to word it.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: It's not old ways, it's tradition, and I embrace tradition
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: for the most part. But go ahead, because I don't
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: disagree with everything you're saying.
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: It's just I feel like you should want to grow
- 1:15:42Speaker 1: your sport. That's what you should want to do, and
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I feel like golf is the only sport they don't
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: want to grow. They want to keep it the way
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: it is because they don't want country clubs to get
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: over flooded, they don't want municipals to get over flooded,
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: they don't want all these plays. Golf is the most
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: inaccessible public sport known demand, and that's what's unfortanate about
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: the sport. It costs way too much to play. The
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: equipment costs way too much to use and to own.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: I believe I'm a person who golf should be accessible
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: to anyone that wants to play it, because if you
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: are a person who loves the sport, it is the
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: most it's the hardest sport to access financially, but it's
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: the easiest sport to get into at any age possible.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: You can be ninety years old and enjoy golf, you
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: can be ten years old and enjoy golf. You should
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: take advantage of that and make golf cheaper and more accessible.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: And tournaments like the Masters hinder us from doing that.
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: Well, that's just because of the tournament.
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: I mean, if you're going to say something like that,
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: it's let's be honest, it is the super Bowl of
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: golf tournaments, correct, it is right?
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: How much does the Super Bowl cost? Can you afford
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: to go to the origable? You're completely priced now I cannot.
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: I'll never be able to tick it in my life.
- 1:16:51Speaker 2: So unfortunately for a lot of us out there, super
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: Bowl is going to be inaccessible for us. The Masters
- 1:16:59Speaker 2: is going to be inaccessed for US, World Series, NBA Championships.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: All that's going to be inacceptable for inaccessible for us.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: And it's unfortunate, but I appreciate that. You don't see
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: the NFL going out there and saying, hey, where'd you
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: get those tickets? We want to know because we want
- 1:17:14Speaker 2: to be able to have every person be able to
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: afford to come here.
- 1:17:19Speaker 6: The art.
- 1:17:19Speaker 1: I love that The only way I'm want to fight
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: you on this is the only difference in that is
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: that you're not able to afford to go to the
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: Super Bowl or the NBA Finals, or the or the
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: World Series. But you have the capability to buy the tickets.
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: You if you somehow found the money, or you saved up,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: or do whatever you want, you can buy the tickets
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: whenever you want the Masters. You literally cannot. You have
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: to win these things.
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: You're comparing a Super Bowl tournament to a regular season game.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: Comparing it to the Super Bowl. I can go out
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: in the Super Bowl tickets whenever I want.
- 1:17:54Speaker 2: Sure you want to spend Do you want to spend
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: four or five, six, seven thousand dollars? I mean, I
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: think the cheapest ticket this past year was like five
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: or six thousand.
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: But that's the point I'm making. I'm not saying that
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: it's it's it's the greatest thing ever. I'll never be
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: able to go, but I have the opportunity to the Masters.
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: You literally do not like you said, if I if
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: I were, do you have.
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: The opportunity If you put your name in the lottery,
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: you'll have a chance to buy those tickets.
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: You don't have that chance, not.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: A trillion chance I can go if I had the money.
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: You have a chance. If I had the money, I
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: could go buy a Super Bowl ticket whenever I won.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: That's what I'm saying. Yes, is it possible. Very No,
- 1:18:33Speaker 1: it's not possible if you have the opportunity. I don't
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: have to go win a lottery to go to the
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: Super Bowl. I don't have to win a lottery to
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: go to a World Series game.
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: Well maybe that's what they should do, is try and
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: have you win a lottery, because you're not going to
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: get it from the team. You're not going to have
- 1:18:48Speaker 2: that opportunity. Those World Series tickets are that's a bad
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: example because you can sometimes get lucky enough to buy
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: them from the team with World Series. Now with the
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: Super Bowl, you're never going to have a shot unless
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: you're a season ticket holder for whatever Super Bowl team's
- 1:19:03Speaker 2: in there. At least you have a shot in the lottery. Yes, yes,
- 1:19:07Speaker 2: it's a very small percentage that are a win the lottery,
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: but at least you have a shot at buying it
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: at normal prices.
- 1:19:16Speaker 1: So what you're saying is you believe the Masters is
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: more accessible than the Zoo Bowl.
- 1:19:22Speaker 3: I think neither of them are accessible. That's what I think.
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: The point I'm the point. The only point I'm making
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: is that yes, am I capable of affording a Super
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Bowl ticket? No, but every person on the planet is
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: accessible to it and is capable if they have the
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: financial spending power. Like you said, even if I wanted, Well,
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: you can say that about the Masters. If you have
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: that financial power, you can go buy it, because you can't.
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: Just said that if you go buy those they check
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: where you got them. When you walk in here, they
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: will kick you out. You cannot.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: No, no, no, no, no.
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: I never said they were kicking you out. No, they
- 1:19:57Speaker 2: didn't kick anybody out. They were just asked where you
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: got your tickets.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: They didn't kick any I will say, well they should.
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: I will say, I like what they're doing.
- 1:20:10Speaker 2: I mean, I like the fact that they trying to
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: get away from all these scalpers selling these tickets. I
- 1:20:15Speaker 2: love that because you and I can't afford those tickets.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: But I will say, now, I don't even know I
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: was gonna say so, so I can't will say anymore.
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: I have no oh cell phones. That's the other thing.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: Did you see where a former Masters a player who
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: came in second place, I believe back in nineteen eighty eight.
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: Mark Calkovecia. Augustine National kicked him out yesterday because they
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: have another strict rule about cell phone usage. Now, a
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: lot of the golfers will say they love the fact
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: nobody can carry a cell phone on the grounds because
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: they don't have to deal with take a cell phone
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: with me or any of that kind of stuff. I
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: think that's a that's a healthy rule right there. It's
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: nice to get away from your cell phone.
- 1:21:04Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: But they caught a former player using his cell phone
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: and promptly asked him to leave.
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: Do you like that rule? Yes?
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: I do.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm fine with I'm find with no cell phone,
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: are you?
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: Because here's the thing.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: They can take pictures when you go to Augustin National
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: on the practice days, but the only way you can
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: take pictures is with an old times camera.
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: And I'm like, who has cameras anymore? Do you have
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: a camera?
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: I have a camera?
- 1:21:37Speaker 5: You do?
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: I have like a I have a pretty nice camera.
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: I shouldn't say that I do have a camera, just okay,
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: I do have one. I have a go pro, I
- 1:21:48Speaker 1: have a like I just have like a little DSLR
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: camera for like photography stuff. Do you okay? All right?
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: Then fair enough.
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: I completely forgot I had a go Pro so I
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: use that for underwater. But uh yeah, so I could
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: take a go pro and take pictures. But anyway, that's
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: just not as good as I think my cell phone
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: camera is better than that.
- 1:22:07Speaker 1: I don't mind any of the rules behind the Masters
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: at all. I get it. That's the like that for
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: me is the tradition part that that's the whole. Hey,
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: that's what's unique to this. That's why it's such a
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: cool experience. You get to feel this like this is
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: how golf was before us kind of thing. Yeah. I
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: just think that all sports should be accessible for everyone equally,
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: and I don't think that anybody. It doesn't have to
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: be the Masters. We'll go back to the Super Bowl
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: and the ro It could be Roger Goodell, it could
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: be Adam Silver, anybody. We should not be picking and
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: choosing which fans can go. See what. I don't think
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: anybody should have that power, and the Masters is the
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: ones who have that power. I think that that's too
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: much for some little board of commissioners to have. You
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: should want your sport to grow everybody should have equal opportunity,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: even if it's a ridiculous price, equal opportunity to go
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: see your sporting event.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: Well, you have opportunity to go there. It's just gonna
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: be a lot of money. So unfortunately I did. What
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: did you think of Xander Shoffley's shot yesterday? T shot
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: that goes into uh one of the people's merchandise bags?
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: Did you see that? I did see that.
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: I thought it was funny that the Shambo, who was
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: Bryson Shambo, who was teamed up with him, walks over
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: there and gives one of his golf balls to the person,
- 1:23:22Speaker 2: not Xander.
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: I thought, what's the Shambo doing over here? Which I
- 1:23:26Speaker 3: loved it.
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: I think, you know, for many people, including myself that
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: didn't like de Shambo, I think he's doing a remarkable
- 1:23:34Speaker 2: job to get back in the good graces of golf fans.
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that, like I think I said, waspeaking
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: an effort. His pr took a hit with the whole
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: Brooks Kepka thing, and he was looked as kind of
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: the villain of the pgs. We wouldn't like him, and
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: he has turned He's become like the funny guy that
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: people can root for. And he's so energetic and he
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: loves what he does. You can even when he went
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: to live you could tell that he's just a competitor.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: He wants to win, and he just he is what
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: LIV wanted to be. We're like, we're gonna pay these
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: guys up front, and they just worry about golf. They
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: don't have to worry about their payouts and stuff like that.
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: And he took and ran with it. Just unfortunately nobody
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: else did the same thing. They took a paycheck and
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: basically retired. Well, I think he has an engineering degree,
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: you know.
- 1:24:16Speaker 2: You know, he's involved with a golf company out in
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: Los Angeles and which is supposed to be an incredible
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: business model and doing very well making these golf clubs.
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: And of course, uh, in time for the Masters, he
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: took a three D model and made a five iron,
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: which I thought was awesome.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: It's like, it's crazy. Is it called La golf? I
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: believe it's called I believe because his like all of
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: his golf clubs are like three D print, right or
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: something like that.
- 1:24:44Speaker 3: Yes, exactly.
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: He also has his whole golf set or the same length,
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: so his irons are the same length as driver and
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: his drivers is really he's one of the only golfers
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: that does that.
- 1:24:54Speaker 3: Is there an advantage to that, because that, to me
- 1:24:56Speaker 3: would be awkward.
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: It's something with the way he swings the club, Like
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: if you ever watch it, he looks like he's so
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: stiff when he swings. It's not about getting the same
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: width on every single club. So that's why he hit
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: the ball so far.
- 1:25:08Speaker 2: The part that people don't know is that that guy
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: is so crazy smart. Bryson De'shambo I mean he is,
- 1:25:15Speaker 2: uh he is. I wouldn't be surprised, and this is
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: not a knock, this is a compliment. I wouldn't be
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: surprised if he's a bit on the spectrum, and that's
- 1:25:23Speaker 2: why he comes across in such an unusual way. I
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: think people that are on the spectrum, they cut, they
- 1:25:27Speaker 2: have their personalities are are a little different, like like
- 1:25:30Speaker 2: I'll use another example, Elon Musk. I think he is
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: definitely out there on the spectrum and he is just
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: unbelievably smart. And look at look at how talented both
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: of them are and how successful both of them have been.
- 1:25:44Speaker 2: I think that Bryceon De'shambo's probably has the best gear
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: out there, from golf clubs to his logo. Everything he's doing.
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: I just I really liking it. It's attractive to me.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I like him. He's one of my favorite golfers
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: at pass Coup. Oh he is. I think he's fun.
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: I'm not gonna say he's like I root for him
- 1:26:05Speaker 1: every week. He's not some like big favorite, but I
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: enjoy watching him. He's one of my favorite ones to watch.
- 1:26:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm right there with you. Who are you predicting
- 1:26:12Speaker 2: he's gonna win the Masters this weekend?
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: Justin Rose?
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: Really that's kind of random. Why do you think Justin Rose?
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: I mean, he went down to the wire last year
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: with Rory McElroy. There's a lot of you know, he
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: probably should have won it. Rory almost choked that way.
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: So I think that he's gonna be hungry again this year.
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: Now that's me saying I don't. I forgot where he's
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: out on the leaderboard. Maybe he's already out of it.
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: I don't know at this moment. I got to figure
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: that out. But if I had to, just if this
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: was yesterday and you asked me, I'd pick Justin Rose
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: to be the long shot to win.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: I see I'm still Rory McElroy and he's always been
- 1:26:45Speaker 2: my favorite player since he's been in the PG. I
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: just read a really good day yesterday. Yeah, he had
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: a great day yesterday, so I'm looking forward to watching that.
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: Of course it's being streamed right now, so he can go.
- 1:26:56Speaker 2: It's on Netflix right now. What streaming service is it
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: on to watch the lot of stuff?
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: I have no idea because the Masters does the thing
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: that like the NCAA tournament does, where the first two
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: days you can just download the Masters app and they
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: have like they have like certain holes you get. I
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: love that and it's free, so like that's what I've
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: been watching.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I love what they do with their app.
- 1:27:15Speaker 2: I think their app is one of the best. So
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: I'll watch it that way too, and you can watch
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: you can pick your own players to watch, and I yeah,
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: I think they do a tremendous job. All right, let's
- 1:27:24Speaker 2: take our last break five O two four one four
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: fourteen fifty. If you want to text me on the
- 1:27:28Speaker 2: Whiskey Thief text line, I got a couple more things
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: I want to talk about. We've got UK baseball and
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: the oldest man to ever play football. We're going to
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: talk about that next one we get back, stay right there,
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: one more segment just the cats.
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: You never had any id you have such.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: Scored for a I'm really disappointed how you feel on
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: how you feel about the Masters. I mean really, I
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: love the Masters. I just don't like I just don't
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: like the club. Okay, all right, then, well, uh uh
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: wait a minute. The golf club. Yes, I didn't say
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: country club. I know you didn't.
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: Well, but I think they would still want it to
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: be called the golf club. What do you call Valhalla?
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: Do you call it a country club or a golf club?
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: A golf club?
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: It's not a country club, yeah, exactly, So that's what
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: the I don't have a problem with the whole that part.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: It's just some of the other things that I think.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: What's wrong with saying a back nine or a front nine.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: I don't get that. I don't know. There also is
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: the whole thing where there's the rumor they pump in
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: bird noises to make it sound aesthetic, and they do.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: That's not been proven, but people that's been like a
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: thing that you know, people who've gone to the Masters
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: will say it's like really quiet in there, and then
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: when you go on TV. There's bird noises tripping all is.
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: It's also like right behind like a shopping center. Like
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: it's not like out in the middle of this great wilderness,
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: beautiful area. You pull out of Augusta National, it's like
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: a Walmart over there. So it's there's also the thing
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: that they paint the greens and stuff because it's too
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: early in the season for the you know, we go
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: to April and you go to golf courses, they're still
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: not in perfect condition yet, but Augusta National always looks perfect.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: I don't know, there's a lot of weird stuff going
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: on in there in Augusta National Golf Club.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the crazy part is that it's
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: just right off a four lane highway. At one time,
- 1:29:39Speaker 2: the nicest hotel in Augusta was the Holiday Inn. That's
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: where a lot of people would stay as the holiday
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: in of all places. I mean, yeah, but it's it's
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: a little nicer now. But yeah, there's there's not much
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: to Augusta right now.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: It's funny because there's been like almost every usually the
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: theme is that every year there's at least one day
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: that almost gets ray at the Masters right, like it's
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: always one wet day. This was one of the rare
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: dry weekends for that. There is always a video every
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: single year it happens that the local Hooters in Augusta
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: is just flooded with people because it rains out the
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: Masters one day, so they all go to Hooters. He's
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: like a tradition for people there. It's funny.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, all right, let's talk about this gentleman is
- 1:30:24Speaker 2: becoming the oldest player in college football. He's sixty years
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: old and by the time the season starts, he will
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: be sixty one years old. And I think this is
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: a phenomenal story. He's a walk on at in a
- 1:30:41Speaker 2: Faulkner University who owns a palette company outside a small
- 1:30:47Speaker 2: town in Pennsylvania, and he decided I want to go
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: back to college. He never got his college degree. He's
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: literally getting a degree as we speak and playing college football.
- 1:30:57Speaker 2: He made the point that his oldest son is probably older,
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: who's thirty four years old, older than the head Colt coach,
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: which I thought was absolutely hilarious.
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: But his name's Tom Green.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: He's from Littlestown, Pennsylvania, and he is a get this,
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: a stage four kidney cancer survivor. And he's out there
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: playing football.
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: I saw it on the national news yesterday. I think
- 1:31:25Speaker 2: it was USA. They did a big write up on
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: him and New York Times did. I just think it's
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: fantastic When I see somebody doing this at a later
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: stage in their life. That mean, just never give up
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: on things that you've always wanted to do that you
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: never had the opportunity doing.
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: Do you like the fact that he's doing something like this?
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: We had a sixty year old cancer survivor playing college football,
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: but Mikel Brown can't play with a heart back. Come on, man,
- 1:31:49Speaker 1: what are we doing? What's going on?
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: Oh my gosh. You had to bring that up. The
- 1:31:56Speaker 2: other thing I wanted to bring up before we go today.
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: Did you see where Arizona, Illinois we're talking basketball teams
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: Michigan State, Purdue, Yukon, and the University Virginia have yet
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: to have a single player on their roster put their
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: name in the portal. That's three of the four teams
- 1:32:17Speaker 2: from the final four this year, Yukon, Illinois and Arizona.
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: That's incredible. Good now, I get it.
- 1:32:24Speaker 2: Some people have said not yet, Michael, but you know,
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: you would think if they were gonna be leaving, they
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: would already put their name in.
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: It's one of those where, especially if you're a team
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: in the final four, I could see you delaying that
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: a little bit, you know, getting because you probably will
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: probably want to stay with that team, but also gonna
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: come down to Okay, well I made a million dollars
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: last year. The market's going up. I want two and
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: a half this year, you know, so they're probably doing
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: like money deals. Try to figure this out like that.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: I'm not expecting that trend to stay the way it is.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: I think people will leave, But I mean it's it's
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: a benefit you get for having a successible basketball season.
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: You get more turnover or you get less turnover. Sorry, yeah,
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: probably so, but that still is incredible.
- 1:33:02Speaker 2: Three of the four right there, and then Perdue, which
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: made it to did they make the Elite eight or
- 1:33:08Speaker 2: they just Sweet sixteen and lost? I can't remember Perdue? Okay,
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: So I mean then you got another team right there.
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: You think there would be some kind of movement there,
- 1:33:17Speaker 2: but nothing happening right there. One person texted and given
- 1:33:21Speaker 2: all the extra COVID years players are given, he could
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: play until he's sixty nine.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: Nice nice, thank you, Corey Price.
- 1:33:31Speaker 2: But oh my gosh, man, the other thing I did
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: want to talk about former UK guard Travis Perry, who
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: left UK and went to Old Miss is back in
- 1:33:41Speaker 2: the Portal after one season down there with the Rebels.
- 1:33:44Speaker 2: He started sixteen to thirty five games for Chris Beard
- 1:33:47Speaker 2: and only average about five points per game. I just,
- 1:33:50Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know where he's going to be going,
- 1:33:52Speaker 2: So best of luck to Travis Perry. But anyway, UK
- 1:33:57Speaker 2: baseball six and six ahead down to Auburn Alabama the weekend.
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: Auburn is just they're ranked. Auburn's ranked number ten in
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: the nation. Even though they're six and six in the SEC.
- 1:34:07Speaker 2: This is gonna be a tough series for UK, Matthew,
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: and will be a fun watch as well.
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: Yeah, the SEC is tough in baseball every single year.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I mean, it's so it happens when you got a
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: conference has a lot of revenue sharing, almost all your
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: sports are good.
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: Yeah, So you can watch that game tonight on SEC

- 1:34:28Speaker 2: and Sunday at three o'clock. It'll be on the SEC network.
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: So that'll be a fun one to watch, so it's
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: gonna be watching that and uh doing a five k
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: on a live runway tomorrow for me.
