- 0:37Sean McAllister: All that and more this week on Vegas Revealed.
- 0:41Dayna Roselli: But first, today's podcast is sponsored by Vegas Near Me.
- 0:45Dayna Roselli: It's a free app and it has everything fun to do and see in Las Vegas with some really useful features.
- 0:51Dayna Roselli: In fact, it's taken six years and a team of more than 40 people around the world to develop Vegas Near Me.
- 0:57Sean McAllister: Yeah, the app is packed with new technology and is in the beta phase right now.
- 1:03Sean McAllister: But because you listen to Vegas Revealed, we want to give you an exclusive opportunity to be among the first people on this planet to download it, play with it, and test it, and tell us what you think.
- 1:15Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you can mark your favorites, make a reservation, order an Uber, get directions, even book your flight and hotel all from within the app.
- 1:23Sean McAllister: Go to our show notes and hit the exclusive link.
- 1:26Sean McAllister: You'll get an email almost instantly and just follow the simple directions to download the beta.
- 1:32Sean McAllister: The app is free and it's going to stay free once it's up and running in full force.
- 1:39Sean McAllister: If it's fun to do or see, it's on Vegas near me.
- 1:43Dayna Roselli: So let's get to it now and spin that wheel.
- 2:01Sean McAllister: And Dana, uh, first of all, happy birthday.
- 2:05Dayna Roselli: Thank you.
- 2:05Dayna Roselli: What a day it's been, right?
- 2:07Sean McAllister: What a day indeed.
- 2:09Sean McAllister: Do you want to run down this day or do you want me to?
- 2:13Dayna Roselli: I mean, I just feel like we can just run through it.
- 2:15Dayna Roselli: Okay, we're recording on September 13th.
- 2:17Dayna Roselli: It's my birthday, and you and I were supposed to just get together to do this because we have a very busy second half of the week.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 2:24Dayna Roselli: My car didn't start.
- 2:26Dayna Roselli: You're like, all right, I'll come over and we'll, you know, do the battery.
- 2:29Dayna Roselli: Then you're like, I think it's the alternator, but to get the battery charged, jumped, whatever you call it, we had to push my car out of the spot because there wasn't enough room.
- 2:39Dayna Roselli: So you were pushing, I was steering.
- 2:42Sean McAllister: Yeah, I did two miles this morning and then uh pushed a car around.
- 2:46Sean McAllister: I felt like I was in the strongman competition.
- 2:49Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 2:50Dayna Roselli: We got it started.
- 2:51Dayna Roselli: We drove it to Nissan.
- 2:52Dayna Roselli: They were great.
- 2:53Dayna Roselli: They've actually just called and said it's already fixed.
- 2:55Dayna Roselli: It was a battery, and luckily under warranty, but it's hot here and our batteries go quick in our car.
- 3:00Dayna Roselli: Um, but we got a nice Dunkin' Donuts on the way back to your house.
- 3:04Dayna Roselli: I walked in, you've got it all decorated, and you have all my favorite things, which is great.
- 3:08Dayna Roselli: I got some Diet Coke, some dots pretzels, a Starbucks gift card, a beautiful card with flowers, balloons.
- 3:16Dayna Roselli: You just treated me so special that it made up for it.
- 3:19Dayna Roselli: It's been a fabulous day.
- 3:20Sean McAllister: Well, good.
- 3:21Sean McAllister: Unfortunately, the battery was under warranty, so you don't have to pay a damn thing.
- 3:25Dayna Roselli: I love that, right?
- 3:26Sean McAllister: Happy birthday.
- 3:27Dayna Roselli: Thank you.
- 3:28Dayna Roselli: Um, switching gears.
- 3:29Dayna Roselli: Last week we did a podcast, and it was a little bit different for us.
- 3:33Dayna Roselli: We we covered an murder investigation, basically, that was going on here in Las Vegas.
- 3:38Dayna Roselli: Continues, obviously, at this moment.
- 3:40Dayna Roselli: But you know, we had a lot of listeners and we've gotten a lot of feedback from it, and people were thankful that we kind of tuned everyone into what was going on and how we were feeling about this situation.
- 3:50Dayna Roselli: It was a local journalist here in Las Vegas, a newspaper journalist that was murdered, stabbed to death in broad daylight in Las Vegas, and then a county public administrator that was arrested.
- 4:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, and obviously we, you know, devoted a good chunk of time to it in the last episode.
- 4:07Sean McAllister: Um, we're not gonna go too deep on it this week, um, but did want to bring you up to speed on what's going on.
- 4:14Sean McAllister: The suspect uh was in court.
- 4:17Sean McAllister: There were some procedural things going on with that.
- 4:20Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 4:20Sean McAllister: Um it was pushback uh for the decisions that need to be made at the court level.
- 4:27Sean McAllister: He remains in police custody, in jail.
- 4:30Sean McAllister: Um, and that's kind of where things stand right now.
- 4:32Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and I don't remember last week if we said, I don't think we knew yet, bail was denied.
- 4:36Dayna Roselli: So he's yeah, he's not getting out.
- 4:38Sean McAllister: No.
- 4:39Dayna Roselli: So Robert Tellis remains in jail, and you know, those court proceedings uh continue.
- 4:44Dayna Roselli: We'll keep you posted if anything develops there, but that's where that stands.
- 4:48Dayna Roselli: We got a lot of fun things to talk about today, though.
- 4:51Sean McAllister: We do.
- 4:52Sean McAllister: Um, starting with some casino stuff, and I don't know if if this is really like the fun stuff that we have to talk about.
- 4:58Dayna Roselli: Oh, right.
- 4:59Dayna Roselli: That's coming later.
- 5:02Dayna Roselli: Sorry, I jumped the gun.
- 5:05Dayna Roselli: All right, this isn't so fun.
- 5:06Dayna Roselli: We have fun stuff to talk about later in the podcast.
- 5:08Dayna Roselli: This, it's a mix.
- 5:10Sean McAllister: It is, yeah.
- 5:11Sean McAllister: But whenever, uh obviously when casinos go up, it's big news.
- 5:16Sean McAllister: But there's a couple casinos here in the Las Vegas Valley that are coming down.
- 5:21Sean McAllister: Now, they're not going out in grand fashion like we've seen with other casinos where there's those big implosions and they make a big scene out of it.
- 5:32Sean McAllister: These just have like the wreck and ball coming in and they're being torn down piece by piece.
- 5:38Sean McAllister: Right.
- 5:38Dayna Roselli: So station casinos, we talk about them many times.
- 5:41Dayna Roselli: If you've visited Las Vegas, you know who they are.
- 5:43Dayna Roselli: If you live here, you definitely know who they are.
- 5:44Dayna Roselli: Um, they run a lot of different hotel casinos.
- 5:47Dayna Roselli: They're about to open.
- 5:48Dayna Roselli: Well, they're actually constructing at this time, Durango Station.
- 5:51Dayna Roselli: But Texas Station and Fiesta Henderson, they never reopened after the pandemic.
- 5:56Dayna Roselli: And so they decided to demolish them.
- 5:59Dayna Roselli: And that has started this week.
- 6:01Dayna Roselli: And I see lots of locals, especially, you know, putting the little uh heart and sad face emojis.
- 6:07Dayna Roselli: I mean, a lot of people had a lot of memories there.
- 6:09Dayna Roselli: It's places that they had a good time when they were younger and and are sad to see it go.
- 6:14Sean McAllister: Yeah, these are casinos that have been around for decades, really.
- 6:19Sean McAllister: And so people have grown up with these properties in their backyards, yeah, really, and they've had movie theaters and you know, ice rinks attached to them.
- 6:34Sean McAllister: And so, even from you know, being children, people who've grown up in Las Vegas have gone to these properties, not to necessarily gamble like adults would do, but they've been a part of the fabric of growing up.
- 6:48Sean McAllister: So it is sad to see them go.
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 6:50Dayna Roselli: I mean, like that's the thing about living here, right?
- 6:52Dayna Roselli: Casinos and hotels, they're like our normal part.
- 6:54Dayna Roselli: It's like some people go to the mall, you know, where we're from.
- 6:57Dayna Roselli: We went to Marketplace Mall and hit up the arcade at timeout, and then, you know, went and got an Orange Julius and went shopping.
- 7:08Dayna Roselli: Well, here in Vegas, we just go to the casino.
- 7:10Dayna Roselli: But when we say the casino, we don't, you're right, don't necessarily go there to gamble.
- 7:15Dayna Roselli: We that's where, you know, you pick up a milkshake, you whatever, you meet your family for dinner.
- 7:20Sean McAllister: Or it's where parents go to gamble and put their kids in the the play zone.
- 7:25Sean McAllister: The play zone daycare.
- 7:26Dayna Roselli: I like you put quotes around that with your hands.
- 7:29Dayna Roselli: Um, okay, so they're coming down.
- 7:30Dayna Roselli: It is a it is sad to see, obviously.
- 7:33Dayna Roselli: Anything that that changes and anything that's historic and made an impact on everyone's lives.
- 7:38Dayna Roselli: It's sad to see it go.
- 7:39Dayna Roselli: You know, they also did announce, and I've actually been to this property a lot, the Wild Wild West Gambling Hall Hotel Casino.
- 7:46Dayna Roselli: Um, they're gonna redevelop that site for, I guess, a new resort, but station also announced a few weeks ago that it has plans to close that.
- 7:53Dayna Roselli: I didn't even know that they actually owned that.
- 7:56Dayna Roselli: I don't know why that went over my head, but I've been there a few times.
- 7:58Dayna Roselli: It's fun.
- 7:59Sean McAllister: Yeah, there's a few different Wild Wild West uh locations.
- 8:04Sean McAllister: Um no, there's actually not.
- 8:06Sean McAllister: There's a wildfire and a wild west.
- 8:09Dayna Roselli: There's a lot of wild going on.
- 8:10Sean McAllister: There are.
- 8:11Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 8:12Sean McAllister: But the location we're talking about is at uh Tropicana and the I-15.
- 8:17Sean McAllister: Right.
- 8:17Sean McAllister: So kind of right in the same vicinity as Allegiant Stadium.
- 8:22Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 8:22Sean McAllister: So I'm guessing, if I was a guessing, a betting guy, which I am, uh, I would say that Station Casinos is probably going to redevelop that site to be very hospitable for people who are going to games and events at Allegiant Stadium since it is within walking distance.
- 8:42Dayna Roselli: True, yeah.
- 8:43Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I used to love that place.
- 8:44Dayna Roselli: I can't remember if it had a Denny's inside.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: It had some.
- 8:46Dayna Roselli: It was.
- 8:47Dayna Roselli: I think it was a Denny's.
- 8:48Dayna Roselli: We used to go there all the time in my early days of Vegas.
- 8:52Dayna Roselli: And yeah, I love to gamble in there because it was nice and easy and small.
- 8:56Dayna Roselli: And when I used to kind of gamble more, I guess.
- 8:58Sean McAllister: I went, I've played slots there late night.
- 9:00Dayna Roselli: Slots little roulette, that kind of thing.
- 9:03Sean McAllister: And then there was a little uh hotel, like a two-level hotel that was attached to the property.
- 9:08Dayna Roselli: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:09Sean McAllister: So yeah, that's being redeveloped.
- 9:11Sean McAllister: It's gonna be exciting to see what goes there.
- 9:14Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 9:15Dayna Roselli: Who knows?
- 9:15Dayna Roselli: We always have new stuff popping up, and you know, I think Wild Wild West Gambling Hall Hotel and Casino had its day.
- 9:23Sean McAllister: I I think it's yeah, it's time for the the new version, the new generation to go in at that site.
- 9:30Sean McAllister: And Station Casinos has also said that they are in full development mode for the next several years here in Las Vegas.
- 9:40Sean McAllister: So um you're probably gonna be hearing us talk a heck of a lot more about Station Casino properties, even though we kind of already do mention them quite a bit because there's a lot going on.
- 9:49Dayna Roselli: Yeah, there's always a lot going on.
- 9:51Dayna Roselli: Hey, uh speaking of that, uh out with the old, in with the new, I just wanted to mention this for if we have any folks that love to travel to northern Nevada and go to Reno.
- 10:01Dayna Roselli: Lots of hotel casinos up there.
- 10:03Dayna Roselli: And Legends Bay Casino officially opened its doors recently, and it's a brand new casino.
- 10:10Dayna Roselli: It's actually the first new casino in northern Nevada in over 20 years, Sean.
- 10:15Sean McAllister: Wow, really?
- 10:16Dayna Roselli: Isn't that interesting?
- 10:17Sean McAllister: I didn't realize that.
- 10:18Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so it was a big deal.
- 10:19Dayna Roselli: So they opened, and you and I were talking to some of our um PR friends, and they said, hey, we opened up the Legends Bay Casino, and wow, there was a line wrapped around.
- 10:30Dayna Roselli: We didn't think there'd be that many people that would show up for, you know, the actual opening.
- 10:35Sean McAllister: Right.
- 10:36Dayna Roselli: And they said the line was like, what they say, like 500 people before the doors even opened, something like that.
- 10:42Dayna Roselli: There were hundreds in line.
- 10:43Sean McAllister: It was stretching like around the block, the freeway was backed up with vehicles trying to get into the parking lot.
- 10:50Sean McAllister: I think they were expecting 500 people and like thousands and thousands showed up.
- 10:56Dayna Roselli: Right.
- 10:56Dayna Roselli: I think you're right.
- 10:57Dayna Roselli: So I said that wrong.
- 10:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I'm bad with numbers.
- 11:00Dayna Roselli: But yeah, it was a large, yeah.
- 11:02Dayna Roselli: You're right.
- 11:03Dayna Roselli: They said that they expected about 500, and then yes, um, there were thousands.
- 11:07Dayna Roselli: And it was packed.
- 11:08Dayna Roselli: They said it looked like was it like New Year's Eve and stuff?
- 11:10Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 11:11Sean McAllister: The way that people were reacting to this new property.
- 11:15Dayna Roselli: Crazy.
- 11:16Dayna Roselli: Uh, Nevada's governor was there, the mayor of Sparks was there.
- 11:20Dayna Roselli: Uh, Gary Goet, the chairman of CEO of Olympia Companies, was there too, and they all did the ribbon cutting together, big ceremony.
- 11:28Dayna Roselli: So, congratulations to Legends Bay Casino.
- 11:30Dayna Roselli: If you're up there in northern Nevada, go check it out.
- 11:32Sean McAllister: And by the way, speaking of Olympia companies, um, they do have a charitable arm that does a ton of great work uh for a lot of charities here in southern Nevada.
- 11:43Sean McAllister: And if you want to give them a follow on Instagram, it's Olympia Co.
- 11:47Sean McAllister: Foundation.
- 11:48Sean McAllister: So just putting in a little plug for all the the good work that that their charitable arm is doing, in addition to all the development that the Olympia companies are doing.
- 11:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I mean, they're great.
- 11:59Dayna Roselli: We work with them a lot, and we're like always blown away, right, at what they do.
- 12:03Dayna Roselli: So okay, Legends Bay Casino.
- 12:06Dayna Roselli: That's a new hotspot up in uh northern Nevada.
- 12:09Dayna Roselli: Hey, Adele tickets for Caesars Rewards members.
- 12:12Dayna Roselli: We got a tweet from one of our listeners who said, Hey, look, and attached a flyer.
- 12:17Dayna Roselli: And I was like reading it, and I'm like, Am I reading this right?
- 12:20Dayna Roselli: And it said two free tickets to one show of your choice for weekends with Adele.
- 12:28Dayna Roselli: And then it said complimentary accommodations for up to three nights over your show dates at participating resorts.
- 12:34Dayna Roselli: So I wrote back and tweeted um this person, and I said, You going?
- 12:39Dayna Roselli: And they're like, nah, you know, it's not my thing.
- 12:41Dayna Roselli: But anyway, interesting, right?
- 12:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, and this was in response to uh the part of our podcast a couple weeks ago when I was mentioning I got on the wait list for Adele tickets, and I was trying to get on the like the verified ticket, the verified fan list in order to just be in the pool of people who were eligible for tickets.
- 13:07Sean McAllister: Well, I didn't get into that pool, but I did get in a wait list to be in that pool of people.
- 13:12Sean McAllister: Right.
- 13:12Sean McAllister: Um, and so that's where this message was sent to us in response to that.
- 13:17Sean McAllister: But what I'm wondering is if you have to be a certain level of player with Caesar's rewards, Caesar's rewards in order to be eligible for that promotion.
- 13:31Dayna Roselli: I have a feeling that's the case.
- 13:33Dayna Roselli: I mean, there can't be that many tickets, you know, and a lot of people are Caesar's rewards members.
- 13:38Sean McAllister: Yeah, if you're like a seven-star or something like that.
- 13:42Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 13:43Dayna Roselli: So this particular person, um I don't say handles because I don't know if everyone wants to put their handle put enough put out there, but anyway, um nickname Boondocks on Twitter.
- 13:56Sean McAllister: Okay, very cryptic.
- 13:58Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he said, nah, we already have some trips planned, uh, don't match up to any of the performances.
- 14:03Dayna Roselli: He said that they do get um a lot of Caesars Awards offers because of the play that they do at their Harra's casino near them.
- 14:13Sean McAllister: Gotcha.
- 14:14Sean McAllister: Okay.
- 14:15Dayna Roselli: They must live in another town.
- 14:16Dayna Roselli: Yeah, Harra's Cherokee, which I guess is in North Carolina.
- 14:18Dayna Roselli: So they must live in that part of the country.
- 14:22Dayna Roselli: So interesting, yeah.
- 14:23Dayna Roselli: So I thought, okay, so uh if you're a Caesars Awards member, keep an eye out.
- 14:27Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 14:27Dayna Roselli: You might get Adele tickets.
- 14:28Sean McAllister: Absolutely.
- 14:29Dayna Roselli: No one else can get them.
- 14:30Sean McAllister: And no kidding, right?
- 14:32Sean McAllister: Uh by the way, obviously that message came from a Vegas Revealed listener in North Carolina, and we really do want to thank our listeners from all over the country and around the world.
- 14:44Sean McAllister: And there was a really neat uh circumstance that was just brought to our attention.
- 14:50Sean McAllister: Uh, obviously, Vegas Near Me is the sponsor of our Vegas Revealed podcast.
- 14:56Sean McAllister: And the creator of Vegas Near Me, in a conversation just today, before we started recording, was telling us this story of how he was out just a couple days ago at the Westgate, went over to see a show, you know, talk with some people, and he was wearing a Vegas Near Me shirt and was approached by somebody in the casino.
- 15:18Sean McAllister: And the gentleman came up to him.
- 15:20Sean McAllister: He said, Hey, I'm an attorney from New Jersey.
- 15:23Sean McAllister: I downloaded the Vegas Near Me Beta app because I heard it on Vegas Revealed.
- 15:30Sean McAllister: I listened to the podcast and downloaded the app, and you're there wearing the shirt.
- 15:35Sean McAllister: Who are you?
- 15:36Sean McAllister: Are you connected with the app?
- 15:37Sean McAllister: He said, Yeah, I'm the creator of it.
- 15:39Dayna Roselli: Oh my goodness.
- 15:40Dayna Roselli: So George.
- 15:41Sean McAllister: If you are the attorney from New Jersey, we would love to hear from you.
- 15:46Sean McAllister: And thank you for listening.
- 15:47Sean McAllister: Thank you for downloading Vegas Near Me.
- 15:49Sean McAllister: And thank you for telling the creator of the Vegas Near Me app that you heard about it here on Vegas Reveal.
- 15:56Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and thanks for listening to Vegas Revealed and visiting us in our great city so many times.
- 16:00Dayna Roselli: That's what we're here for: for people to get some knowledge, gain some knowledge, find some tips, find out what's going on, and then travel here and spend some money.
- 16:08Sean McAllister: And again, if you are listening from outside of town, if you live here, we always love to hear your feedback about the podcast.
- 16:18Sean McAllister: And also, if you want to drop us a line and uh say, hey, we'd love it if you would explore X, Y, and Z.
- 16:27Sean McAllister: We'd love to know more about this or that.
- 16:30Sean McAllister: We're happy to, you know, dig in, do some research on your behalf.
- 16:34Sean McAllister: So drop us a line.
- 16:36Sean McAllister: We love hearing from you and we respond.
- 16:38Dayna Roselli: Yeah, we do.
- 16:40Dayna Roselli: Ideas at Vegas-Reveal.com.
- 16:43Dayna Roselli: Hey, Pitbull added to the lineup of the iHeart Music Festival that's coming up.
- 16:48Dayna Roselli: That's on September 23rd and 24th at T Mobile Arena.
- 16:52Dayna Roselli: It's a two-day uh event.
- 16:55Dayna Roselli: LL Cool Jay will be there.
- 16:56Dayna Roselli: Lionel Richie, Halsey, Black Eyed Peas, Avril Levine.
- 16:59Dayna Roselli: But Pitbull, one of our favorites, you and I have seen him perform many times at Zappos Theater at Planet Hollywood.
- 17:05Dayna Roselli: We always recommend.
- 17:06Dayna Roselli: He's high energy, super fun.
- 17:08Dayna Roselli: I think he's gonna, I think the place is gonna go nuts for him at iHeart.
- 17:12Sean McAllister: It Pitbull's residency show was one of the most high-energy shows that I have ever seen in Las Vegas.
- 17:22Sean McAllister: Really?
- 17:23Sean McAllister: I didn't even know some of the music, but just the energy and the vibe in that theater.
- 17:29Sean McAllister: People were up dancing in the aisles.
- 17:31Sean McAllister: It was like a full-on party.
- 17:33Sean McAllister: So I have no doubt that Pitbull is gonna bring that same energy to the iHeart Radio Music Festival.
- 17:39Dayna Roselli: Yeah, he's great.
- 17:40Dayna Roselli: Mr.
- 17:40Dayna Roselli: Worldwide and uh Mr.
- 17:42Dayna Roselli: 305, he's got lots of names.
- 17:45Dayna Roselli: And he loves his staircase on stage.
- 17:47Dayna Roselli: He likes to come down the stairs and go back up.
- 17:49Dayna Roselli: He does.
- 17:50Dayna Roselli: Come back down.
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: Right?
- 17:52Dayna Roselli: He loves his stage.
- 17:54Dayna Roselli: Downstairs.
- 17:55Dayna Roselli: Yeah, it's always good.
- 17:56Dayna Roselli: Fireball's one of my faves when he does that song.
- 17:59Dayna Roselli: Um, well, quick rundown of uh of some new events happening.
- 18:03Dayna Roselli: Um, some new things coming to Las Vegas.
- 18:05Dayna Roselli: We always like, I thought this was interesting, Sean.
- 18:07Dayna Roselli: Brides made the musical opening over at the Orleans, which is actually near the Wild Wild Musk gambling open.
- 18:14Dayna Roselli: It is, kind of.
- 18:15Sean McAllister: It's in the same neck of the woods, down the street.
- 18:17Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 18:17Dayna Roselli: Tropicana to the the west of the I-15.
- 18:21Dayna Roselli: Anyway, uh, Great Hotel Casino also got a movie theater that I frequent a lot over there.
- 18:25Dayna Roselli: But um, they're opening up a new show, and it's an unauthorized movie musical parody.
- 18:30Sean McAllister: And it sounds like it's gonna be a lot of fun.
- 18:32Sean McAllister: I mean, Bridesmaids, the movie was so much fun.
- 18:36Sean McAllister: And if they're doing a musical parody of the movie, you gotta know there's gonna be a ton of tomfoolery, camaraderie, and vulgarity involved.
- 18:47Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 18:48Dayna Roselli: It's a great movie, and I can only imagine this is gonna be a lot of fun.
- 18:53Dayna Roselli: Open September 21st at the Orleans.
- 18:56Dayna Roselli: If you're into that, I think, uh, and probably need a good laugh.
- 18:59Dayna Roselli: That's that's where you need to go check it out.
- 19:01Sean McAllister: And if you're into yacht rock, do you know what yacht rock is, Dana?
- 19:06Dayna Roselli: Well, I thought I did, which I kind of did, but then I was like with some friends in upstate New York, and I said, What is you know, yacht rock?
- 19:14Dayna Roselli: And they're like, What we've got on right now.
- 19:15Dayna Roselli: I guess we were we were literally sitting on a dock.
- 19:19Dayna Roselli: On the dock, ready to go in a boat to go tubing.
- 19:23Dayna Roselli: It wasn't quite a yacht, but it was close enough.
- 19:26Dayna Roselli: And they're like, and I forget what was playing on the radio at the time.
- 19:30Dayna Roselli: And then my my friend's husband, Matt, was like, Oh, I love yacht yacht rock music, it's my fave.
- 19:35Dayna Roselli: And they were talking about some group America, and I don't know.
- 19:39Dayna Roselli: Yes.
- 19:39Sean McAllister: Anyway, like the soft rock hits of the 70s and 80s, right?
- 19:44Sean McAllister: And that music is now on stage over at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino, courtesy of the Docksiders.
- 19:52Sean McAllister: This is their first ever Las Vegas residency.
- 19:55Sean McAllister: They've done shows around the country, really popular, and they take that music and just inject a lot of fun into it.
- 20:05Sean McAllister: And now we have some yacht rock as a residency show here in Las Vegas.
- 20:12Sean McAllister: Again, thanks to the Docksider.
- 20:13Sean McAllister: So um, Christopher Cross.
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: I love him.
- 20:16Dayna Roselli: Yes, Christopher Cross.
- 20:18Dayna Roselli: He's my favorite.
- 20:19Dayna Roselli: He's great.
- 20:20Dayna Roselli: Yeah, I used to love a little warm 101.3 on the drive in my hometown of Rochester, New York.
- 20:25Dayna Roselli: I just heard it when I was home.
- 20:26Sean McAllister: For sure.
- 20:27Sean McAllister: Yeah, even music by Olivia Newton John falls into that category.
- 20:32Dayna Roselli: Toto, oh yeah, Kenny Loggins, uh-huh, Steely Dan.
- 20:37Dayna Roselli: Ambrosia.
- 20:38Sean McAllister: I mean, Hollow Notes.
- 20:39Sean McAllister: Oh, I mean, it's good stuff.
- 20:41Sean McAllister: Yeah, it's good.
- 20:41Sean McAllister: It's great music.
- 20:42Sean McAllister: So you really can't go wrong.
- 20:44Sean McAllister: The Docksiders over at the Rio.
- 20:47Dayna Roselli: And I feel like that is something different for Vegas, right?
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: It is.
- 20:50Dayna Roselli: And there's definitely a market for that.
- 20:52Dayna Roselli: There's people that love that music.
- 20:54Dayna Roselli: So sounds good.
- 20:55Dayna Roselli: You and I are gonna check it out eventually.
- 20:57Dayna Roselli: Um, we couldn't get to the opening night because it was all a mess that week.
- 21:00Dayna Roselli: We had a whole bunch of stuff going on.
- 21:01Sean McAllister: And if you have a captain's hat in your wardrobe and maybe some, you know, the docksiders, the loafer shoes, you know, dress for the occasion.
- 21:08Sean McAllister: Why not?
- 21:09Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 21:10Dayna Roselli: Hey, Kevin Hart coming to Resorts World.
- 21:13Dayna Roselli: This is fun.
- 21:14Dayna Roselli: He's doing two shows, November 18th and 19th.
- 21:17Dayna Roselli: Is he the first comedian announced for stage there in that theater?
- 21:21Dayna Roselli: I feel like he is.
- 21:22Dayna Roselli: I know Amy Schumer was just announced too.
- 21:24Sean McAllister: But I believe Kevin Hart is going to be the first.
- 21:26Sean McAllister: Yeah.
- 21:27Sean McAllister: He is the first.
- 21:28Sean McAllister: Because they've had music residencies.
- 21:30Sean McAllister: Uh they've had David Blaine.
- 21:32Sean McAllister: Um, but yeah, the first comedian is Kevin Hart.
- 21:35Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 21:36Dayna Roselli: Well, this is during his 2022 reality check tour.
- 21:39Dayna Roselli: Um, he's going to make a two night stop, as I mentioned.
- 21:42Dayna Roselli: Um, people excited to check out Kevin um for those two days, and then and then maybe he'll be back.
- 21:48Dayna Roselli: And like I mentioned, it just came out that Amy Schumer is doing a show as well.
- 21:52Dayna Roselli: At some point, and I don't have the date in front of me.
- 21:55Sean McAllister: Uh Hold Please.
- 21:56Sean McAllister: Hold please, okay.
- 21:57Sean McAllister: Hold on.
- 21:58Dayna Roselli: You know, because we don't really edit this podcast anymore.
- 22:00Dayna Roselli: So if it's not in the notes that I'm glancing at, I've got it right here.
- 22:07Sean McAllister: Amy Schumer's fall 2022 or Saturday, November 5th.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: Oh, okay.
- 22:12Dayna Roselli: So she's coming in before Kevin Hart.
- 22:14Sean McAllister: Before, so Amy Schumer will be the first.
- 22:16Sean McAllister: All right.
- 22:17Sean McAllister: Unless someone's announced before her.
- 22:18Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 22:19Dayna Roselli: Well, they announced Kevin before Amy, so it kind of seemed like, but yeah, she'll be the first.
- 22:23Dayna Roselli: Okay.
- 22:24Dayna Roselli: That's cool.
- 22:25Sean McAllister: Um, something that's not really entertainment related, Dana, but definitely Las Vegas related.
- 22:32Sean McAllister: We mention a lot of the poll and survey results where Las Vegas is mentioned.
- 22:39Sean McAllister: And we were recently mentioned on another poll that was really not so flattering.
- 22:46Dayna Roselli: Yeah, you were telling me about this.
- 22:47Dayna Roselli: You said, oh, we should get this in the podcast.
- 22:49Dayna Roselli: Las Vegas has been ranked number four on a list where apparently we're the fourth rudest city in America.
- 22:57Dayna Roselli: And this is, I guess, a couple of- You know what I have to say?
- 23:00Sean McAllister: Anybody who responded to this survey can screw off.
- 23:03Dayna Roselli: Exactly.
- 23:04Dayna Roselli: Well, we do have a little love.
- 23:06Dayna Roselli: When Sean's driving, we're definitely rude.
- 23:09Dayna Roselli: He likes to beep at the horn.
- 23:11Sean McAllister: I do like my horn.
- 23:12Dayna Roselli: Oh my gosh.
- 23:13Dayna Roselli: Well, according it's according to the language and culture website called Prepply, and they did a survey, and apparently Las Vegas' average rudeness score was 5.98 on a scale of 1 to 10.
- 23:29Sean McAllister: And here's the crux of what people were, I'll say, complaining about in their survey results.
- 23:38Sean McAllister: It was Las Vegas locals who were surveyed.
- 23:41Sean McAllister: So it's not like outsiders who were coming in and saying, oh, people in Las Vegas are rude.
- 23:46Sean McAllister: It was people who live here.
- 23:48Sean McAllister: And they were mainly irritated at the fact that uh people in general you're aren't acknowledging strangers.
- 24:00Sean McAllister: So when you walk by somebody on the street, you're not saying hi.
- 24:03Sean McAllister: It's just like the head goes down and you walk right by.
- 24:06Dayna Roselli: I mean, that does happen here.
- 24:08Sean McAllister: It does.
- 24:08Dayna Roselli: And I always think I think it's very strange.
- 24:11Sean McAllister: It's very strange.
- 24:14Dayna Roselli: Sometimes there's even people like in my not in my building, but like I'm walking to my car from my building that obviously live in my building and they don't pick up their head.
- 24:22Dayna Roselli: And I think that's so weird.
- 24:24Sean McAllister: It is strange.
- 24:25Sean McAllister: Right.
- 24:25Sean McAllister: Or when you get in an elevator and you're you're in a confined space with people.
- 24:31Sean McAllister: And like not even acknowledging them, not even saying hi.
- 24:35Sean McAllister: I don't know.
- 24:36Sean McAllister: And even here's the thing with Las Vegas neighborhoods.
- 24:40Sean McAllister: A lot of them are governed by HOAs, as are neighborhoods around the country too.
- 24:47Sean McAllister: But specifically here, they don't really allow you to keep your garage door open.
- 24:54Sean McAllister: And so a lot of people pull in, close their garage door, and really never see their neighbors or interact with their neighbors.
- 25:02Sean McAllister: And so I feel like that's kind of where it begins.
- 25:06Sean McAllister: True.
- 25:07Sean McAllister: And I don't know.
- 25:09Sean McAllister: I love to wave to my neighbors and chat when we're outside and just say hi to people, smile at people when they walk by, even if there's not a conversation, just acknowledging the presence of another person is generally a nice thing to do.
- 25:24Dayna Roselli: Yeah, definitely.
- 25:25Dayna Roselli: I mean, it's interesting, um, just thought of something.
- 25:28Dayna Roselli: When my brother was visiting during the one October shooting, the really bad shooting that we had here.
- 25:33Dayna Roselli: I remember him saying, I said, you know, how are people being in the hotels?
- 25:36Dayna Roselli: Because he was staying in a hotel and he said, Well, he goes, everyone's nicer.
- 25:39Dayna Roselli: I said, What do you mean?
- 25:40Dayna Roselli: I was like, What are you talking about?
- 25:41Dayna Roselli: And he was like, Every time I got in the elevator, like people actually like said hello.
- 25:45Dayna Roselli: And I was like, Oh, did they not before?
- 25:46Dayna Roselli: Like, it's not something I picked up.
- 25:47Dayna Roselli: And he was like, Yeah, no.
- 25:48Dayna Roselli: He's like, I mean, sometimes, but like everyone's totally being nicer to each other.
- 25:53Dayna Roselli: And those are the things that they can't just be short-lived.
- 25:56Dayna Roselli: It's like you've got to learn from it, and then we all need to keep it up.
- 26:00Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 26:01Dayna Roselli: So, anyway.
- 26:02Dayna Roselli: Um, interesting.
- 26:04Dayna Roselli: Okay, well, I mean, we have nice people here too.
- 26:06Sean McAllister: We do.
- 26:07Sean McAllister: You'll find rude and nice wherever you go.
- 26:09Dayna Roselli: So wherever you go.
- 26:10Dayna Roselli: It depends on the day.
- 26:11Sean McAllister: Let's just all work on being a little bit nicer.
- 26:14Sean McAllister: How about that?
- 26:15Dayna Roselli: I wasn't so nice on Sunday when the Raiders lost.
- 26:18Dayna Roselli: Because it was our first, you know, regular season game after we won all four preseason games and then we lose the first one.
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 26:26Dayna Roselli: Out of town.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: I know.
- 26:27Dayna Roselli: It was what it was.
- 26:28Dayna Roselli: You can't win them all.
- 26:29Dayna Roselli: And I think that it's sometimes it's good for the what do you call it?
- 26:33Dayna Roselli: Like good for the ego to not win because then you work harder to be like, okay, just because we won four in preseason doesn't mean we're gonna win every one.
- 26:41Dayna Roselli: Let's regroup and let's get out there.
- 26:43Dayna Roselli: Um, but side note, just wanted to uh mention, because I know people love their donuts, okay?
- 26:49Dayna Roselli: So the official donut partner for the Raiders is pink box donuts, very popular.
- 26:54Dayna Roselli: You can get them at Allegiant Stadium or uh stop by any location around town.
- 26:59Dayna Roselli: And apparently they're doing this whole Raiders-themed kind of like donut selection.
- 27:04Dayna Roselli: So you can get a Raider Nation silver frosted raised ring topped with Raiders writing, black and silver sprinkles and all that kind of thing, a little mini helmet.
- 27:12Dayna Roselli: They've got a Raiders football, Raiders Baby, the Raider, the 50-yard line, and the Raiders pee-wee's all-themed donuts.
- 27:21Dayna Roselli: If you want to get, they're only available on game day.
- 27:24Dayna Roselli: And I know people love to get festive with all that stuff, so I thought that was worth a mention.
- 27:28Sean McAllister: It is, and it's always a good treat to bring if you're going to a watch party at somebody's house.
- 27:34Sean McAllister: Stop by Pink Box, get your Raiders donuts, and be the hero of the party to bring those tasty treats.
- 27:41Sean McAllister: Um, I know that we're still in fall and it's still 90 degrees outside here in Las Vegas, but it's never too early to start thinking about the holidays.
- 27:50Sean McAllister: Right.
- 27:51Sean McAllister: And we just got some great holiday information that um a great event that we went to last year uh at the Las Vegas ballpark is returning to the ballpark, but also expanding and having a second location on the strip.
- 28:08Dayna Roselli: I know this is gonna be cool.
- 28:09Dayna Roselli: They're gonna have four million holiday lights coming to Resorts World.
- 28:13Dayna Roselli: So they're gonna use that lot right next door, and it's gonna be huge holiday wonderland.
- 28:19Dayna Roselli: People are gonna love this.
- 28:20Dayna Roselli: Las Vegas is the only city to have two Enchant attractions for the holiday season.
- 28:26Dayna Roselli: So it's a big deal.
- 28:28Dayna Roselli: They're excited to, you know, bring Enchant to the strip and feature that for some of our visitors, and then we have the one on the west side at the ballpark for a lot of the locals.
- 28:38Dayna Roselli: So a little bit, you know, it was very busy all the time.
- 28:42Dayna Roselli: So I wonder if this will help to make things move a little smoother.
- 28:46Dayna Roselli: It was really hard to even like get a ice skating spot there toward the middle, like toward the heart of holiday season.
- 28:52Sean McAllister: Yep.
- 28:52Sean McAllister: And and this really is, if you can just in your mind picture a holiday fantasy land with lots of photo ops, ice skating.
- 29:03Sean McAllister: Uh there's treats, there's warm drinks, there's bars for the adults.
- 29:09Sean McAllister: I mean, it really was a great holiday attraction.
- 29:13Sean McAllister: Um, and it's being sponsored by the Hallmark Channel, which is like the go-to place for holiday movies.
- 29:20Sean McAllister: And there's some really cool like contests and opportunities that are being presented this year thanks to Hallmark.
- 29:28Dayna Roselli: Yeah, so they said the one at Resorts World is being sponsored by Hallmark.
- 29:32Dayna Roselli: I don't know if the other one is, but what you just mentioned is true.
- 29:36Dayna Roselli: They're doing like this Christmas cozy corner, all sorts of photo ops, and then you can also win a trip to a set of a Hallmark movie.
- 29:44Dayna Roselli: So go check it out.
- 29:45Dayna Roselli: I know people love their Hallmark movies.
- 29:48Dayna Roselli: Love, love, love.
- 29:49Dayna Roselli: So it's gonna be, I think it's a great kind of collaboration there.
- 29:52Dayna Roselli: I'm looking forward to see what it's like.
- 29:54Dayna Roselli: It opens Saturday, November 19th, and it will continue through January 1st.
- 29:59Dayna Roselli: All right, let's get to tips.
- 30:03Dayna Roselli: My tip has to do with travel this week.
- 30:06Dayna Roselli: I want to talk about something that I did after seeing everyone's nightmare stories about losing their luggage.
- 30:11Sean McAllister: Oh gosh.
- 30:12Dayna Roselli: So we got a wonderful gift from a client and it was an Apple Air tag.
- 30:17Dayna Roselli: And I thought, okay, maybe I'll use this here.
- 30:19Dayna Roselli: Anyway, I saw some people talking about how they were putting air tags in their luggage.
- 30:22Dayna Roselli: So I tried it on my recent trip to upstate New York.
- 30:26Dayna Roselli: And Sean, it was wonderful.
- 30:27Dayna Roselli: It took two seconds.
- 30:28Dayna Roselli: You attach it to Bluetooth, you name it.
- 30:30Dayna Roselli: I named it luggage.
- 30:32Dayna Roselli: And every time I got on the plane, I would see that my luggage was with me.
- 30:36Dayna Roselli: And then when I landed and I turned my phone on, um, it would say like Chicago Midway Airport.
- 30:41Dayna Roselli: And I was like, okay, great, my luggage is here.
- 30:44Dayna Roselli: And then when I landed in Rochester, New York, it'd say Rochester, New York.
- 30:47Dayna Roselli: And so apparently the farther away that you get, um, you know, when you're not in close proximity, it can't pinpoint the exact, exact spot.
- 30:57Dayna Roselli: But I've tried it in all different areas.
- 31:00Dayna Roselli: Um, had my dad put it in his his glove box and take a trip.
- 31:04Dayna Roselli: I've got it right now with a friend in Los Angeles, and I can see where, because we're just doing lots of little testing things, and people are like, Can I borrow it for this?
- 31:13Dayna Roselli: Can I, but I can see.
- 31:15Dayna Roselli: So it's a great, great thing to do.
- 31:19Dayna Roselli: They're like 25 bucks on Amazon.
- 31:21Dayna Roselli: You can get like, I think a four-pack for like, or maybe they're 29 bucks or 32, and then you can get the four-pack for 99.
- 31:29Dayna Roselli: Let me tell you, best investment that you could probably make if you don't want to lose.
- 31:34Dayna Roselli: Well, you're gonna lose your luggage if you're gonna lose your luggage.
- 31:36Dayna Roselli: But you're gonna know where it is.
- 31:37Dayna Roselli: You're gonna know where it is.
- 31:38Dayna Roselli: Because I've heard nightmares of people who have no idea, like they say it's here, I went here, there they can't find it.
- 31:45Dayna Roselli: So, anyway, at least you know, and you can already, and then if you need to make some adjustments, you can get on it.
- 31:51Dayna Roselli: But it's fantastic.
- 31:54Dayna Roselli: So get an air tag if you travel.
- 31:56Dayna Roselli: I highly recommend it.
- 31:57Dayna Roselli: It's a very small investment for some peace of mind.
- 32:01Sean McAllister: Yeah, and I know that they have uh little carrying cases for it where it can go on a uh set of keys or you know, attached to your luggage.
- 32:09Sean McAllister: Yeah, so it's cool.
- 32:10Sean McAllister: Really cool.
- 32:11Sean McAllister: I love that.
- 32:11Sean McAllister: I love to know that it works so well.
- 32:14Sean McAllister: Uh, my tip this week, Dana, is for they get kind of the adventurous group of people who love outdoor activities and really getting outside and enjoying all that nature has to offer, specifically if you're a mountain biker.
- 32:32Sean McAllister: We've talked about Lee Canyon, which is our ski resort here uh outside of Las Vegas.
- 32:38Sean McAllister: It's like 45 minutes away from the strip up the up the mountain.
- 32:42Sean McAllister: Um, in the wintertime, obviously, they're skiing.
- 32:46Sean McAllister: In the summertime, they have great hiking trails.
- 32:49Sean McAllister: Uh, when we went up there several times this summer to beat the heat, and it was so much cooler, but they had axe throwing and archery.
- 32:58Sean McAllister: There were people riding their horses up there.
- 33:00Sean McAllister: People brought their pets so that they could actually get outside and walk, and it wasn't so incredibly oppressively hot.
- 33:08Sean McAllister: Well, Lee Canyon has just opened up mountain bike trails that go down and weave their way through the ski slopes, cool, which are obviously bare in the summertime, but they have built these mountain bike trails that weave back and forth across the mountain, and what they've done is uh kind of replaced some of the chairlifts on the you know, on the chairlift instead of a a seat, it's a bike rack.
- 33:43Sean McAllister: Yeah, so you can put your mountain bike on this bike rack, hop on the lift behind your bike, and you both go up the top of the mountain, then you can ride your bike back down.
- 33:55Sean McAllister: So a really cool new addition to Lee Canyon.
- 33:59Sean McAllister: I think that there's so much potential.
- 34:02Sean McAllister: Uh it's already a really great place.
- 34:06Sean McAllister: Um, but I think that they're just in a mode where they're adding more activities uh as time goes on.
- 34:13Sean McAllister: And I am a big fan.
- 34:14Sean McAllister: It's really nice.
- 34:15Sean McAllister: The lodge up there is great, the food is great, they have great drinks up there.
- 34:20Dayna Roselli: Something different to do.
- 34:22Sean McAllister: It really is.
- 34:22Sean McAllister: Change your surroundings, and the scenery is beautiful.
- 34:25Sean McAllister: They have great campgrounds that are really close to the ski area.
- 34:29Sean McAllister: So 10 out of 10 on my list, Lee Canyon, uh, with new mountain bike trails coming down the mountain.
- 34:36Dayna Roselli: Yeah, and we'll share what we'll do is we'll repost one of their posts so we can show you what it looks like.
- 34:40Sean McAllister: Yes.
- 34:41Dayna Roselli: On our Vegas revealed Instagram, which is popping, by the way.
