- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Welcome to the episode.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: In this episode, I want to talk about a statement that's been on my mind recently, and that is some trains only pass once.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: Meaning, some opportunities only show up with a short window to jump on the train before they leave.
- 1:05SPEAKER_00: This might be a person that entered your life.
- 1:08SPEAKER_00: A job opportunity, a health event, an adventure, you know, etc.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: And it as I record this, it's January first, 2025.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: 2025 has started.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: The trains that showed up during 2024, they're gone.
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: 2023, gone.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: 2022, 21, 20, going back.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: All those trains are gone.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: They have left the station.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: Some might come back and they might give you another chance.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: Others won't.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Other trains will literally never show up again.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: They are gone forever.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: And that'll be true of some of the ones that show up in your future.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: Some that show up this year.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Is that some of those trains, some of those opportunities that come up this year are never going to come back once they show up and leave.
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Maybe you didn't get on to one you really wanted to, because you were really busy.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: You were too stressed out.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Maybe you were down on yourself.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: Maybe you weren't ready.
- 2:07SPEAKER_00: You talked yourself out of it.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Your self-image didn't allow it.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Your self-esteem made you feel like you just weren't worthy of it.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: Maybe you were just too fucking scared.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Whatever the reason, don't let it happen again.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: So here is your simple game plan for not letting the trains that you want to take pass you again this year.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: First, identify your core values.
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: What are they?
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Gratefulness, health, responsibility, resilience, integrity.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: Find out what your core values are.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: Otherwise, it is impossible or near impossible to consistently act in alignment with them because you don't know what they are.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: Then assess how well you align with them.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Simple, like 1 to 10 measurement for integrity.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: Do you feel like you're a 7 out of 10?
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: A 10 out of 10, a 1 out of 10?
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: How often do you lie?
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: How often do you mislead?
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: How often do you feel a little bit guilty about the things that you say?
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Then identify how would it feel to be a 10 out of 10 in alignment with each of these values?
- 3:08SPEAKER_00: And what are the obstacles preventing you from being in alignment with them?
- 3:12SPEAKER_00: What are the obstacles that are preventing you?
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: The roadblocks preventing you from being a 10 out of 10 in each one of those values.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Next, you're going to determine what behaviors and actions you want to take consistently that would overcome these obstacles.
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: Right?
- 3:28SPEAKER_00: We want to identify with specificity.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: It's okay to be a bit extreme in this, to identify all the actions, all the behaviors, all the boundaries that we want to identify and implement and act with in order to be in alignment with these values.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: These are the things that we're going to do consistently to create pride in ourselves, to make sure that we're confident next time the next train occurs and shows up that we want to jump on.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: We'll feel confident because our actions are aligned with who we want to be.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: Next, obviously that isn't enough.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: Once you've created awareness over something, it doesn't mean the problem is fixed.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: So next, we iterate daily in our journal using resources and activities like identifying wins, gratitude practices, mindfulness practices, irrational and limiting belief reframes.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: You create accountability over your personal growth in your journal and with people around you or with a coach.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: You collect data as you slip off track.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Every single time you take an action that is not aligned with your values, you write it down.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: You just take note of it, even if it's just a mental note.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: And when you have that daily practice, you get into your journal or you talk to someone about it, and you say, you know what?
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: I lied in this moment, I misled in this moment, I didn't act responsibly in this moment.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: What was going on around me?
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: Who was around me?
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: What were the people, the places, the things, the activities, the what was around me that convinced me to not take the action that I was most proud of?
- 4:54SPEAKER_00: You collect that information and then you use that data to learn what people, what places, what accountability, what environments, etc.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: make you most supported and likely to engage in the behaviors that you want to engage in in the most consistent method, as well as the things in your life that you need to sacrifice in order to consistently implement those behaviors.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: I I know this sounds a bit overwhelming, but it really isn't.
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: It's like collect the information, identify the values, collect information about what behaviors you take associated with those values, identify when you slip off track, and then identify what environment would support you to not take those behaviors again, right?
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: If you want to not lie, who are the people that are around you that are going to support you to not lie as much as possible, right?
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: What kind of accountability can you create?
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: What kind of check-ins can you manage with yourself in order to make sure that you lie the least amount possible?
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: Next is that you prioritize this season of your life as one to work on you, and you commit to working on yourself for every day for the rest of your life, knowing that the success you will have will only be seen in the mirror as you look back and think, oh shit, I became the person I wanted to years ago, but I was too busy living my life to even realize it.
- 6:12SPEAKER_00: If you follow that procedure, your life will change in 2025.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: No more trains will pass you by because you will be confident, you'll be aligned with your values, and you'll be ready to jump on them.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: In fact, they may even stay at the station a little bit longer, hoping that you jump on them.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: Anyways, that is my message for the day.
- 6:33SPEAKER_00: If you feel like this system makes sense, if you feel like it would help you, it would support you, it might actually change your 2025, which I do believe that it would, but you feel like you need a bit more support.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: You need someone to actually give you accountability and to support you, go into the show notes and reach out to me.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Regardless.
- 6:51SPEAKER_00: Peace.
