- 1:19Speaker 1: Thanks for having a lot of the public out today.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Go pick peporing my podcast. So first of all, the
- 1:24Speaker 2: ones that kept my.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Eye Arena Williams, a Federal and Nadal Right of course, Mcinroe, you.
- 1:29Speaker 2: Must have a passion pretendant to be a painting about
- 1:31Speaker 2: it right. Yeah, I was a coach and a player.
- 1:34Speaker 5: I played professional tennis and I coached actually worked with
- 1:37Speaker 5: John and Patrick McEnroe and helped run the McEnroe Academy
- 1:40Speaker 5: for years.
- 1:41Speaker 2: So that was my passion for decades. And taking your
- 1:45Speaker 2: talent off the court into the you know, studio. Very
- 1:47Speaker 2: what's that like to paint all these It's a lot
- 1:50Speaker 2: of fun, I get, you know, it's it's my passion.
- 1:52Speaker 5: I try to capture iconic moments in tennis, and I
- 1:57Speaker 5: know tennis so well. I've lived most of these moments,
- 2:00Speaker 5: and I get a great reception from the players. Most
- 2:03Speaker 5: of the players have one of my portraits. Either they've
- 2:06Speaker 5: gotten it as a trophy or they've gotten it as gifts.
- 2:10Speaker 2: But most of the guys have have a player for
- 2:12Speaker 2: a trait. Anybody I might know.
- 2:14Speaker 1: That you've coached that, we can you know, and say, oh, yeah,
- 2:16Speaker 1: you coached that guy.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I've coached some good players. I mean some some players.
- 2:21Speaker 2: A lot of.
- 2:21Speaker 5: Juniors that are up and coming now that are good
- 2:24Speaker 5: players that that you know someday are gonna you know,
- 2:28Speaker 5: do something.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So we'll see one last thing, Well, I have here
- 2:31Speaker 2: spin a doll. Not being in the US Open, Is
- 2:34Speaker 2: he gonna retire?
- 2:35Speaker 3: I mean, you have any insight for that or what
- 2:36Speaker 3: what's your collage?
- 2:37Speaker 2: I don't really have any insight. But there's no way
- 2:41Speaker 2: that he's not going to give one more shot.
- 2:45Speaker 5: If he's gonna retire, it's gonna be at Roland Arrows
- 2:48Speaker 5: with a real ceremony. But you know, because it's rough,
- 2:51Speaker 5: he's only going to commit to play and if he
- 2:53Speaker 5: thinks he can win the tournament, he's not gonna do
- 2:55Speaker 5: a one match and say goodbye to every better. So
- 2:58Speaker 5: but I was, uh when Andrea, I guess he gave
- 3:02Speaker 5: his last hour at the US Open. I was at
- 3:04Speaker 5: every match and he walked out on the court like
- 3:07Speaker 5: he could barely move. And the guy played, you know, epic,
- 3:11Speaker 5: three epic matches and came back and won two matches
- 3:13Speaker 5: in five cents.
- 3:14Speaker 2: So you never know the runners mcenrobe, right, that would
- 3:20Speaker 2: be so much fun to cover.
- 3:21Speaker 3: And all that.
- 3:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there are great rivalries tennis. That's a
- 3:25Speaker 2: beauty of tennis.
- 3:26Speaker 5: There's all these great rivalries and the next generation comes
- 3:29Speaker 5: up and now we have Alcarez and Sinner and they're
- 3:32Speaker 5: just amazing and and it's you know, it's fun to it's.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Fun to have a new generation and paint a whole
- 3:39Speaker 2: new proper players.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Well exactly hopefully that Taylor Frits up on the walls tiers.
- 3:43Speaker 2: I did painting of Taylor. He took it though. That's well.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Thanks for joining me, Ted, thank you for coming.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Thank you very cool and congrats it Ted Demon.
- 3:53Speaker 1: By the way, he actually did during the Masters, he
- 3:57Speaker 1: did a golf exhibition as well.
- 4:01Speaker 3: With his artistry.
- 4:02Speaker 1: It was called the Art of Tennis this weekend and hey,
- 4:05Speaker 1: maybe you'll get to meet him or see him at
- 4:07Speaker 1: the US Open, because he seems very connected as a
- 4:10Speaker 1: former professional tennis player. And how cool is this weekend
- 4:15Speaker 1: or this whole upcoming two weeks, the weekend before the
- 4:18Speaker 1: US Open and then the weeks of the US Open
- 4:22Speaker 1: and the competition, the intensity, all in our backyard in Flushing, Queens.
- 4:28Speaker 3: There's quite nothing like it.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Gabby and I were on the plaza last year when
- 4:32Speaker 1: Djokovic won again, and that was a pretty cool moment.
- 4:38Speaker 1: The crowd outside the arena was as ecstatic as they
- 4:41Speaker 1: were inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.
- 4:44Speaker 3: So Ted DeMont, thanks for joining me, and who knows.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Maybe we'll see around the grounds at the US Open.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Big two weeks coming up in the world of tennis,
- 4:54Speaker 1: as we are the fourth and final leg of the
- 4:58Speaker 1: Grand Slam tournament, and the question is who will have
- 5:02Speaker 1: one leg up at the US Open or we gotta
- 5:05Speaker 1: find out we gotta see Taylor Fritz battle at Wimbledon.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Uh cooo golf. What can you say about her? Right,
- 5:12Speaker 3: he's been She's been unbelievable.
