- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello, gorgeous, it's La La Kent. Welcome to untraditionally Lala, Hello,
- 0:07Speaker 1: my little Christmas bunnies, my little holiday.
- 0:11Speaker 2: El ho ho ho ho ho ho.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Merry Christmas eve Yo.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I'm excited, I know, and it's gonna get even more
- 0:22Speaker 2: tiring tomorrow.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Well, here's the thing about Christmas, and you start realizing
- 0:29Speaker 1: this once you have children, and Ethan you don't have children,
- 0:32Speaker 1: but you might as well with I think I'm understanding
- 0:35Speaker 1: the point what you put into it is you look
- 0:39Speaker 1: back on all of the memories that you're that our
- 0:42Speaker 1: parents like provided for us when it came to Elmer,
- 0:47Speaker 1: the elf oceans here, so just make sure whisper.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Yeah, but also no, trust me, I think as built.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Yeah, That's why I'm happy we have the back house
- 0:58Speaker 2: because I'm gonna that's why I built all the things
- 1:01Speaker 2: so we can just put them out beforehand, because I
- 1:04Speaker 2: always remember mom and Dad being like, we couldn't go
- 1:06Speaker 2: to bed till five in the morning because we had
- 1:08Speaker 2: to build your stuff. And I'm like, how can I
- 1:10Speaker 2: avoid the five am?
- 1:12Speaker 1: Yeah, and then them waking up at like seven and
- 1:17Speaker 1: getting excited.
- 1:18Speaker 2: No, let's talk about what ocean did, what'd she do
- 1:23Speaker 2: going into Gigi's room.
- 1:24Speaker 3: Oh my gosh, you guys.
- 1:26Speaker 1: We went to the mall and she was wanting to
- 1:29Speaker 1: go into this dress shop and they have the cutest
- 1:33Speaker 1: things and it's all of these like big puffy gowns
- 1:36Speaker 1: for like young kids, and skirts and like frilly stuff,
- 1:39Speaker 1: cute little bags that like look like Chanel, and she
- 1:43Speaker 1: wanted one, and of course I had to like shut
- 1:47Speaker 1: it down because it's almost Christmas, and I said, you
- 1:50Speaker 1: don't need that, oh, and she was like.
- 1:52Speaker 3: I, but I really wanted it's so cute. I don't
- 1:54Speaker 3: have this one.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And so we go to Claire's where we then gather
- 1:59Speaker 1: a bunch of things that she wanted and we do
- 2:01Speaker 1: it behind her back because those those little gifts are
- 2:04Speaker 1: from Elmore the Elf. And I go back into the store.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I get this cute bag. I hide it in the
- 2:09Speaker 1: diaper bag. We get home. Ocean is the negotiation with
- 2:15Speaker 1: this child is just a lot. She verbally waterboards me
- 2:19Speaker 1: at all times of the day about everything. Girls got
- 2:22Speaker 1: stamina and I just don't. So I was like, Ocean,
- 2:28Speaker 1: it's mom time and we're gonna play. And when I
- 2:32Speaker 1: say we, I mean not you. I didn't say it
- 2:35Speaker 1: like this.
- 2:35Speaker 2: She w upside down me.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Time, we is now me you guys. I was like,
- 2:46Speaker 1: it's mom time, it's adult time, and the adults are
- 2:49Speaker 1: gonna play Mario Party on the switch, okay, And she goes, well,
- 2:54Speaker 1: then can I watch my iPad? I was like, I
- 2:56Speaker 1: don't even care. I don't even care watch your iPad.
- 3:01Speaker 1: So I sent her downstairs and she's awfully quiet. I'd hear,
- 3:05Speaker 1: not any iPad happening, no YouTube kids, and and then
- 3:10Speaker 1: the gees.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Is like, something's going on.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So she goes down into her room and Ocean has
- 3:13Speaker 1: rummaged through and found the purse, She found the elf gifts,
- 3:18Speaker 1: She found it everything, and.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I was like, I'm taking it all back.
- 3:26Speaker 1: And of course my mom's like, okay, we don't need
- 3:29Speaker 1: to be that intense, Like we tell her it's for
- 3:31Speaker 1: someone else, like, oh, you found all the gifts were giving.
- 3:34Speaker 3: To London, my niece were shipping them to Utah.
- 3:38Speaker 1: And now they're all wrapped up. And Ocean has such
- 3:42Speaker 1: a good memory that I know she's gonna be like
- 3:44Speaker 1: you tricked me. They just can't be from Santa. Can't
- 3:48Speaker 1: be from Santa. They have to be from Mom.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you're gonna have to just say I was buying
- 3:52Speaker 2: those for you and those were going to be your
- 3:53Speaker 2: gift for me, but now you.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I just wish she would listen, don't we all? Yeah,
- 4:01Speaker 1: And the other thing about this Christmas is that you
- 4:08Speaker 1: don't like some kids have older siblings and you worry
- 4:11Speaker 1: that they're gonna spoil Christmas for your kid because maybe
- 4:14Speaker 1: they heard from their older sibling that like Santa is
- 4:18Speaker 1: very real.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Okay, well, I'm worried about her going into school still
- 4:23Speaker 2: because it's tell the story well every so obviously school
- 4:27Speaker 2: here a lot of religion, a lot of people believing
- 4:30Speaker 2: in for things. So it's like she was like, let
- 4:32Speaker 2: me take the elmer the elf. So yeah, she takes
- 4:35Speaker 2: the elf into school. First, little boy goes that elf
- 4:40Speaker 2: isn't real, and oh, she goes, yeah it is. And
- 4:44Speaker 2: I was like, oh boy, here we go. I dismissed
- 4:48Speaker 2: myself very quickly.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Kevin. Didn't she say, yeah it is. He brings me present?
- 4:52Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it is, he brings me present. And I
- 4:54Speaker 2: didn't dismiss. I looked at the teacher and I said,
- 4:56Speaker 2: if this becomes an issue, do I need to take
- 4:59Speaker 2: it or is she She goes we'll put it in
- 5:00Speaker 2: her backpack. And I said, Ocean, this becomes an issue.
- 5:04Speaker 2: What do you do? And she goes pet it away
- 5:06Speaker 2: and I said, good job, have a good one, kid,
- 5:08Speaker 2: and I loved and then I just hear the bickering
- 5:11Speaker 2: of the kids.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Elves are real and.
- 5:14Speaker 4: I was like, no, I know we shouldn't have opened
- 5:17Speaker 4: this can of worms. Keep the elves at home, by everybody,
- 5:21Speaker 4: keep the elves at home. Because I was verbally waterboarded
- 5:25Speaker 4: us again. She has seventeen times, and on the eighteen
- 5:27Speaker 4: I was like, take the off to school. I don't
- 5:29Speaker 4: even care anymore.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I will say I got mad at Lauren because Ocean
- 5:33Speaker 2: was like, my mom told me I could bring it,
- 5:35Speaker 2: and when your mom doesn't have to deal with it
- 5:38Speaker 2: right now, so she let you, so no I caught it.
- 5:42Speaker 2: So she didn't let you. She just let you bring
- 5:44Speaker 2: it in here and no talking me. And now you're
- 5:47Speaker 2: mad at me.
- 5:49Speaker 3: It's so funny.
- 5:51Speaker 1: So usually our Christmas Eve plans can we don't even have.
- 5:56Speaker 3: Well, so many people are like, what are your tradition?
- 5:59Speaker 2: You don't even have anymore.
- 6:01Speaker 1: It's hard to create traditions when you have split when
- 6:07Speaker 1: you yeah, when when it's kind of all over the place. Now,
- 6:11Speaker 1: my agreement.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Is is very good. I have no complaints.
- 6:19Speaker 1: You know. Obviously, if I had it my way, it
- 6:22Speaker 1: would be one hundred percent of the time.
- 6:23Speaker 3: And I'm sure he feels the same way.
- 6:25Speaker 1: But whatever, That's what happens when your part ways. But
- 6:28Speaker 1: I'm thrilled with it this year. So she's gonna She
- 6:35Speaker 1: went to Miami and blew back today actually, and for
- 6:41Speaker 1: a moment, I was like, this is not cool. My
- 6:44Speaker 1: kid's on an airplane for five and a half hours
- 6:48Speaker 1: on Christmas Eve and she's very resilient. You guys, now,
- 6:51Speaker 1: if this were so soid, I think this would throw
- 6:53Speaker 1: her for a loop.
- 6:54Speaker 3: But Ocean's like, yeah, whatever.
- 6:56Speaker 1: And then I learned how many people are actually traveling today,
- 7:00Speaker 1: Like so many of my mom friends are like, yeah,
- 7:02Speaker 1: we're traveling for Christmas. And I was like, oh great,
- 7:05Speaker 1: when are you guys headed out? They're like Christmas Eve.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'm like what, that's so wild? They were like, well,
- 7:09Speaker 1: say what's up to Ocean on the way out. So
- 7:12Speaker 1: she flew back in Christmas Eve today and I will
- 7:18Speaker 1: have her all day tomorrow. And the other side, you know,
- 7:22Speaker 1: did the whole Christmas thing already, but it's really hard
- 7:24Speaker 1: to create traditions. My number one thing is like getting
- 7:28Speaker 1: to the desert during the holiday. But I just didn't
- 7:31Speaker 1: want to put ocean from a five and a half
- 7:33Speaker 1: hour flight into a car for two hours to get
- 7:37Speaker 1: to the desert. So we're spending Christmas for the first
- 7:40Speaker 1: time in this house, Christmas in la and I'm excited.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Then she can play with her toys. It's not like
- 7:48Speaker 1: a big to do of Oh my gosh, you know,
- 7:51Speaker 1: we got to like I want to get to the desert.
- 7:53Speaker 1: I want to get to the desert.
- 7:55Speaker 3: We can.
- 7:55Speaker 1: We built most of the toys. The other little things
- 7:59Speaker 1: will do tonight tomorrow she can have a Heyday traditional breakfast.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Thinking about it, of like the sausage and the egg,
- 8:12Speaker 1: what is it like a casserole?
- 8:13Speaker 3: Was it a Mormon thing? I don't know. Grandma used
- 8:16Speaker 3: to make it.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to say it was like an egg
- 8:18Speaker 2: cheese castrole. Yeah, whatever it was. That's the thing that
- 8:23Speaker 2: brings me back to heaven, yeah, some sort of.
- 8:28Speaker 1: The only thing that missing for me is a big family.
- 8:32Speaker 1: No an ice cold vodka soda this morning.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Talk to him, lady.
- 8:40Speaker 1: That my dad would make me. It would just be ready.
- 8:43Speaker 1: He would be having his bloody marry or a mimosa,
- 8:46Speaker 1: and I just went straight in for that kill.
- 8:49Speaker 2: I do miss that because that was like I because
- 8:51Speaker 2: I can only it was only like a couple of
- 8:53Speaker 2: years for me because I didn't really drink and he
- 8:56Speaker 2: died when I was twenty five. But like the last
- 8:59Speaker 2: couple was always like having a little mimosa. Yeah, come
- 9:03Speaker 2: in with the orange juice and just like a drop.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Yeah, refills on refills.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Everything's just the eggnog.
- 9:13Speaker 3: Oh, just the thing, the whole thing. Ocean said.
- 9:27Speaker 1: The other day, the TV was playing and someone said alcohol,
- 9:31Speaker 1: and she.
- 9:32Speaker 3: Was alcohol, Alcohol is bad for you, isn't mom?
- 9:37Speaker 1: And I was like, I was like, I don't know
- 9:38Speaker 1: how to answer this because I don't want it to
- 9:41Speaker 1: be like a forbidden fruit for her. I didn't expect
- 9:44Speaker 1: her to be talking about like alcohol being good or
- 9:46Speaker 1: bad for you at.
- 9:47Speaker 3: Four and a half. I just kind of ignored her.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I pretended like I didn't hear her because I don't
- 9:54Speaker 1: want to be like, yeah, it's really bad for it.
- 9:56Speaker 2: But she keeps asking you.
- 9:57Speaker 3: She doesn't forget, and she didn't ask me.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Oh she didn't know, And I'm like, I'm not discussing
- 10:03Speaker 1: us with you at four and a half, like too young,
- 10:07Speaker 1: but it will be interesting. The reason I'm bringing that
- 10:10Speaker 1: up is I just I'm like, these are weird conversations,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and I see her like if she's asking that, it's
- 10:17Speaker 1: a matter of time honestly for her to be like,
- 10:19Speaker 1: oh Shanta clause real.
- 10:21Speaker 2: No, she's pretty smart too.
- 10:23Speaker 3: One fuck up away from making her a non believable.
- 10:26Speaker 2: It's not even a fuck up. It's like, what you
- 10:28Speaker 2: can't You're gonna have to go buy a storage and
- 10:31Speaker 2: to keep all of her shitting because she's a little
- 10:34Speaker 2: she goes through everything, she'll find everything. She clept out
- 10:37Speaker 2: all of my stuff from my house. I don't know
- 10:39Speaker 2: what else is missing. So it's like I don't even
- 10:41Speaker 2: know what She was there to see it. So it's like,
- 10:44Speaker 2: what do you do to hide gifts? Because I remember
- 10:46Speaker 2: Mom was like I had your gifts in like the
- 10:48Speaker 2: most in plain sight, but you never looked. Do you
- 10:53Speaker 2: remember that? Yes? Like I never was going in closets
- 10:57Speaker 2: to look.
- 10:58Speaker 3: Well I wasn't either, And she's like, I remember Mom.
- 11:01Speaker 2: When we'd go in the basement. No, the two doors
- 11:04Speaker 2: that yes went into the same she was in there
- 11:07Speaker 2: and like I never even thought of it, but she
- 11:09Speaker 2: got like skittish. She was probably hiding gifts for me
- 11:13Speaker 2: and you or something, and I was like, what are
- 11:15Speaker 2: you doing? She was like just trying to find wrapping paper.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I'll never forget it. I was like, all right, I
- 11:20Speaker 2: wasn't like I'm going to go in that room.
- 11:21Speaker 3: After she would be like, that's not where you keep
- 11:23Speaker 3: the wrapping paper. The wrapping paper, I saw it in
- 11:25Speaker 3: the other closet.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and she would have gone through that room, but
- 11:28Speaker 2: like that's something. So it's like, it's not a fuck up.
- 11:31Speaker 2: It's like you've got a kid who is just very
- 11:34Speaker 2: very what's the word I'm looking for.
- 11:37Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 11:39Speaker 2: She's interested in everything. Curious, just curious there.
- 11:42Speaker 3: It is a little curious George.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I was just gonna say, and I'm going to start
- 11:46Speaker 2: calling her George, because she'll go in every room, even
- 11:50Speaker 2: if she's on her iPad. I've seen her she'll look
- 11:52Speaker 2: over the top of it and like see what we're
- 11:54Speaker 2: all doing, And then when you look at her, she'll
- 11:56Speaker 2: look back at it, and I'm like, oh okay.
- 12:00Speaker 1: Oh no, Christmas is stressful. I was just gonna say,
- 12:04Speaker 1: what are you the most excited for tomorrow morning? Waking
- 12:08Speaker 1: up seeing her face? Honestly her face.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I'm excited for Sosa's first Christmas in a sense of
- 12:17Speaker 2: like her being able to like sit down and like
- 12:19Speaker 2: rip open some not that she'll know what it is,
- 12:21Speaker 2: but I think it'll be fun for her to just
- 12:23Speaker 2: rip things open. So I'm excited for that. I'm excited
- 12:26Speaker 2: to just wake up as like a little family and
- 12:28Speaker 2: have just like breakfast coffee. Yeah, football is on love
- 12:33Speaker 2: it isn't it? Or am I lying?
- 12:35Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 12:36Speaker 2: It's either football or basketball. I know we got some stiff.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Does any NFL team play on Christmas Day?
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yeah? How many?
- 12:45Speaker 3: You got?
- 12:45Speaker 1: The Cowboys versus the Commander's Lions versus the Vikings, Broncos
- 12:49Speaker 1: versus Chiefs.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Speaking of a curious George.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Curious George s Hi, what are you doing?
- 13:00Speaker 1: Hi?
- 13:01Speaker 2: Oh?
- 13:02Speaker 3: Back to the persistence to the nails. Okay, just give
- 13:06Speaker 3: me a second. I'm just gonna record the podcast and
- 13:08Speaker 3: then I'll do that.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Oh Mary Chris Muss, Okay, love you Ocean Kent, But no.
- 13:17Speaker 2: That's I'm just excited for like hanging out family. I'm
- 13:20Speaker 2: excited for just to see their reaction. Yeah to their gifts,
- 13:25Speaker 2: their little santic gifts, all the goods. What about you?
- 13:29Speaker 2: But if you had to choose.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Like one thing, I'm I'm very excited that Ocean or
- 13:34Speaker 1: so says more interactive. Like when I take her into
- 13:36Speaker 1: the playroom now with Ocean so, so we'll grab like
- 13:41Speaker 1: a cup and a spoon, for example, and like stir
- 13:44Speaker 1: and set, Like she's starting to know how to play
- 13:47Speaker 1: with Ocean. So I'm excited to see her now when
- 13:51Speaker 1: the gifts are opened. The other thing I'm excited for
- 13:54Speaker 1: when it comes to Ocean is she's obsessed with desks
- 13:57Speaker 1: right now. So I got her desk and then I
- 14:00Speaker 1: got her like paper clips and a little breethecase and
- 14:03Speaker 1: like all this paper so she can play off. I can.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if she is laying on the
- 14:08Speaker 2: ground with her ear at the door.
- 14:10Speaker 3: We're wrapping it up, guys.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I love you, christ Happy holidays, whatever you celebrate. I
- 14:16Speaker 1: hope you just feel the freaking spirit today. And ho
- 14:20Speaker 1: ho ho, bitches, let's get this done. Let's get this
- 14:24Speaker 1: fucking done with the kids still believe in rock on.
- 14:27Speaker 3: Bye guys, catch you next week.
