- 0:49I'm all over Apple's, Spotify, the Deconstructing Topic Podcast.
- 0:54And check out the description always check out
- 0:56those descriptions because today we got another good one and today
- 0:59you know what we're talking about uh-oh that's
- 1:03a cash register you know what i mean we are talking about money and
- 1:06we are talking about one of the things that we tend
- 1:09to kind of how can i say overspend
- 1:12and basically overspend uh the other day i was talking
- 1:15to a couple of my uh brothers in arms and
- 1:18we was talking and you know i kind of you know said to
- 1:21myself hey listen um i had a budget for the weekend keep
- 1:24in mind i'm gonna be traveling soon but doesn't mean i'm
- 1:26not gonna do podcasts gonna be traveling soon doing
- 1:30a little bit of here doing a little bit over there networking is
- 1:34something that i gotta do that takes money and i you
- 1:36know and i gotta budget myself and i think that that's probably
- 1:39the best thing to do in terms of
- 1:42if you are working and you are working with a salary
- 1:45or you know with a certain amount of money is that
- 1:48you have to budget yourself and yeah
- 1:52but you know it's it's one of those old rules it's right what you
- 1:54need and what you want you know what i mean and i think that sometimes we
- 1:58tend to have our little bad habits and our little
- 2:01bad habits get amplified that's why sometimes i
- 2:04tell people and for the most part i don't i don't play the.
- 2:07Lotto right now we have certain pools here and there you know amongst friends
- 2:11and family and so on and i might throw a little two dollars four dollars oh
- 2:15we got one billion mega mill whatever it is but i'm not one to like sit down
- 2:21oh man i wish i won the lotto and i wish because you know sadly there's certain habits that we have.
- 2:26And as a lot of people will say, the more money, the more problems,
- 2:31actually. You know what I mean?
- 2:33But once again, hit the like. Another thing, too. I'm on this beautiful network called T-Goose TV.
- 2:39If you're listening to this and you are listening to this on your app,
- 2:43whatever Apple device you got, Google device, Android, Roku and all that. T-Goose TV.
- 2:51That's T-E-G-O-S TV.
- 2:54That's in television. That's correct.
- 2:56And you can hear me and other independent people
- 3:00out there with our you know where you could
- 3:02you know sometimes it's funny because one of
- 3:05the things in talking about saving money is that years ago it
- 3:08was that thought that if you cut the cord meaning cable ah look
- 3:11i'm cutting cable i'm saving money now now we
- 3:14got these subscriptions now you're back to whatever you is but
- 3:17sometimes you pay for entertainment that you don't even use or
- 3:20sometimes you're just tired of the same old nonsense you know you
- 3:24know what there's good people good shows including myself
- 3:28on tigus tv or go online at tv
- 3:31tigus.com that's tv as
- 3:35in t as in thomas v as in actually i'm
- 3:38gonna say t as in television v as in you know what i mean
- 3:40but it's tv t e g u s.com
- 3:44and yeah there's got some good you know good stuff
- 3:47there it's a little uh small subscription but you know what you're doing a good
- 3:51cause you're supporting people and in a time that you want to save money you'll
- 3:54be like oh man david's not not not another subscription thing going on there
- 3:59and i'm like you know what there are times we live in a different times and
- 4:03this is my thing and we're gonna go back to.
- 4:06The overspending because now the logic
- 4:09would be years ago you know people were
- 4:12doing that you know when when netflix started becoming that thing that
- 4:15you're streaming and you know it was
- 4:17netflix and all you know you have amazon prime now you have
- 4:20just about everybody has a streaming platform and
- 4:23it costs money and i'm one to have a what
- 4:26they call a 4k tv 120 megahertz
- 4:30and it looks like there's a couple of platform and you know
- 4:32netflix would be one where if you want to
- 4:35watch the high quality movies in that platform you
- 4:39gotta get a higher tier subscription meaning 20 something dollars so once again
- 4:45we kind of sit down and we you know for those people that got family and we
- 4:49already know we in this section of the world where we are headed to the holidays
- 4:53it's a stressful time where it's spiritual.
- 4:56Mentally, and financially.
- 4:58This is the time of the year that it becomes a little bit, whew.
- 5:04So, many times, we find ourselves that we kind of overspend, right?
- 5:10And we sometimes don't sit down what exactly it is that we're overspending on.
- 5:14But again, I sit and I always say, because I'm doing networking,
- 5:17because now I'm over here doing And my podcast and so on.
- 5:21A lot of times, you know, a lot of my stuff is coming from, you know, my pocket.
- 5:25So I got a little budget going on. And I'll be the first one to admit.
- 5:30The other day I had a little budget of a certain amount.
- 5:33You know, and this budget, that's another thing too. What's this budget about?
- 5:37You want to atomize what exactly you want to, you know, use the food on.
- 5:41I mean, I'm sorry, use like, okay, if you're going to spend this weekend on
- 5:44food, then put a month or whatever the food, what it is that you're spending on.
- 5:49Weekend food, you know, lunch from work, whatever it is. You know, you got to put that.
- 5:55So I kind of put like, okay, I'm going to do the food and drinks.
- 5:58I'm going to do this. I'm going to do that.
- 6:00Then I wake up and I, Tuesday, because I still kind of like was paying a couple
- 6:05of things there. You know, I'm doing a lot.
- 6:07And then I find myself like, whoa, I overspend.
- 6:12You know what I mean? And then sometimes when you overspend,
- 6:15and this is one of the things that I was talking to one of my brothers in armor,
- 6:19I spoke to more than a handful of people about this, is that sometimes you got
- 6:23to keep in mind, life happens, right?
- 6:25And then now out of nowhere, a little emergency came up.
- 6:29And that little emergency basically is like, okay, it has to do with money.
- 6:32Something that I not think about. So now instead of me, let's say,
- 6:37having that little money that I was going to save or whatever,
- 6:40since I overspent, now I'm tapping on the weekly budget so that I could take
- 6:45care of that. And sometimes that's what happens.
- 6:47Sometimes we fall to these kind of things where we kind of say,
- 6:51ah, don't worry. You know, next time I get paid, I'll tackle it.
- 6:54And it's always that class, you know, it's the needs and the wants.
- 6:58Listen, raise your hand every time you've gone to a place.
- 7:01Let's say you go to CVS Pharmacy. Say, hey, you're going to get a bowl of toilet
- 7:06paper. Something simple.
- 7:08You know, there's people with discipline that go to those places and they get
- 7:12exactly, they got the list, they get exactly what they want and they bounce.
- 7:16But for me, I'm a little bit different. You know what I mean?
- 7:19The other day, a couple of months ago, you know, I had this little, you know, beer going on.
- 7:24And one of my brothers and I, the gentleman, he called me Fidel Castro.
- 7:28You know, don't want to disrespect anyone that likes or dislikes.
- 7:32It's just that at one point, I guess that was the look of someone that wanted to do a revolution.
- 7:38And basically, I'm like, I can't start a revolution. I just happened to go on
- 7:42CBS and they suck me with these sales.
- 7:45And that's what happens. You go to a place just for one thing and you come out
- 7:50with five things and they trick you because in your mind, you say,
- 7:55well, you know, I couldn't beat that.
- 7:56That's 80 percent sale. And normally, you see, even if it's 80% sale,
- 8:01even if the product costs $2, remember it's $2 that you were not planning to
- 8:06use, and it's $2 that might come in handy.
- 8:11And you start saving up. You understand what I'm saying? Now,
- 8:14I'm one that, you know, to do the save up.
- 8:15Now, because I do have a 401k, and again, this might not apply to a lot of people,
- 8:21because there are those people out there listening to my podcast,
- 8:24don't have a 401k, whatever it is, you know, you can have your own just in case.
- 8:30But because I have a 401k, I like to think that I like when I have money or
- 8:35when I have money to save.
- 8:36You know, I like to put it on either my jobs 401k or I do have my 401k. You know what I mean?
- 8:43Because I like to think that, hey, listen, I would rather kind of be a little
- 8:48bit broke or a little bit on the budget now than to say when I'm older and retired,
- 8:53because I would like to kind of, if one thing,
- 8:57have that ease of feeling like, hey, listen, I got a good job. I mean, I'll retire.
- 9:02Let me enjoy a time. I got the time. Let me go, you know, whatever the case might be.
- 9:07Hey, listen, I'm going to need that. You know what I mean?
- 9:10One of the things that overspending, again, it's what it is that why we kind of tend to overspend.
- 9:16A lot of times it comes to our habits, our kind of patterns.
- 9:20And sometimes let's say we are those people who have, let's say,
- 9:25like to splurge. Hey, I like to go shopping.
- 9:28Hey, listen, a lot of people need to go shopping because, hey,
- 9:32if you work you need to have the clothes if you go out party you need to have
- 9:35the party if you network you have to have certain looks so yeah you're always going to go shopping.
- 9:41But it's that time. It's that thing that you boom. Oh, man.
- 9:45My budget was like just to get and it happened to me the other time,
- 9:49a couple of weeks ago. I'm networking.
- 9:50Something came up. Somebody invited me here and I spent like,
- 9:54what is it, like $50, $60 on a little sports jacket, which I was not counting.
- 9:58But these are these other things that happens.
- 10:01Some people like to do the credit card thing and have a little credit card on
- 10:04the side just because of those things.
- 10:06But you know sometimes there are people like me that like
- 10:09to kind of like let me just play with what i have you know what i mean because
- 10:14you know these credit card companies you you use it and then once again you
- 10:18it becomes a bad habit but in united states we are living in a country where
- 10:23you got to build your credit in order to get certain things in life you know what i mean,
- 10:27but overspending is that one thing that we tend to kind of say to ourselves
- 10:31nah it's okay nah you You know, but just make sure that you do a budget and you follow it.
- 10:39Discipline. And once again, discipline, discipline, discipline.
- 10:42Now, I'm one to, I love football.
- 10:45My football Sundays, I want to make sure that my value for the whole day is good.
- 10:51But I also enjoy my spirits, you know, my beers.
- 10:55And I found myself the other day is like, oh, wait a minute.
- 11:00I got beers, but now I'm in a mood for this certain beer.
- 11:03And what did I do? I spent $35 on where I should have not been spending $35.
- 11:09And you see, these are the little things that you kind of fall into that,
- 11:13kind of the, that habit, you know what I mean?
- 11:16And those are the things at the end, when it comes to finances,
- 11:20a lot of times, you know, we are our own, how can I say, enemy.
- 11:25We are our own destroyer because we just tend to say, boom boom boom we got
- 11:30these habits that boom boom boom and a lot of times and and and look this happens
- 11:35a lot of people how many people out there are emotional buyers.
- 11:39Or just emotion in itself, you know, when you're buying stuff,
- 11:43you're doing this based on emotions, oh, you know, you know,
- 11:45a little stressed out, I had a little long, you know, I want to do this,
- 11:48I want to do that, there's those people who, how can I say.
- 11:53Who have the mean, but, you know, sometimes, you know, the emergencies come
- 11:56up, I know people that, hey, listen, you know, let's hang out,
- 11:59don't worry, I treat, you know, one of those people that like to kind of like
- 12:01treat people like, hey, listen, I got you, you know,
- 12:04let's talk, let's go out to lunch, don't worry about it, You know,
- 12:08I know people like that, but, you know, then emergency come on, but I'm like, oh, my God,
- 12:12you know, I just treated five people for lunch and I spent $500.
- 12:15And, again, it's a beautiful gesture because in life that's what it is.
- 12:20When you do things like that, you know, you're going to pay it forward.
- 12:23Hey, life's going to give it back.
- 12:25But sometimes those little emergencies, those unexpected emergencies,
- 12:29they kind of hold you back a little bit.
- 12:31Unexpected, you'll be like, but why? How come?
- 12:35And if you find yourself kind of every every
- 12:38single time every single week every time that
- 12:42is something comes up just ask yourself what can you do better
- 12:45what can you do financially that's going to change the scope of
- 12:48things i know that you know for those people out there that you know eight things
- 12:52uh food has gone up all this gone up everything normally goes up every given
- 12:57time but that's where we got to be more cautious with this money that we spent
- 13:02you know sometimes Sometimes we tend to think, okay,
- 13:06you know, and it happens to be, you know, I love yogurt.
- 13:10You know, yogurt is a healthy thing and they are sweet and, you know,
- 13:13it's satisfied that sweetness. And I like to get those yogurts with those crunchy little thing.
- 13:18But for some reason, there are times I see something where, oh man,
- 13:22I want something different, crunchy.
- 13:23See how they play with us. You know what I mean? And then that's basically comes
- 13:26down to how we, and then you buy those extra cookies where you shouldn't have
- 13:30bought those extra cookies.
- 13:32So, you know, just give you a little bit like, you know, the holidays is coming
- 13:36up soon for those who celebrate Christmas.
- 13:39But Thanksgiving as well, Halloween, even Halloween, just dressing up,
- 13:42even doing something for Halloween.
- 13:44It's just that during here in New York City. And it happens a lot in some of
- 13:48these, how can I say, cities is that, you know, the difference between winter and summer.
- 13:53Let's say how we spend our money is that the summer we could just do something
- 13:57where we could just go out to the beach.
- 13:58We could just go out somewhere and not spend much.
- 14:02Winter's a little bit different because either you're going to be cozy at home
- 14:04and you want to make sure that you eat a good food have a cup of wines you know
- 14:08what i mean be with your partner whatever it is that you want to do and then
- 14:11or not we just want to be out there go somewhere we'll be inside eating drinking
- 14:16again it's a little bit of a different creature and that's why
- 14:20you know when it comes to the holidays a lot of people kind of you know that
- 14:24stress level becomes because winter, for some reason, it becomes compulsive.
- 14:30That's in, you know, spending that little extra time, you know,
- 14:33that extra money on things that we might not need to.
- 14:37But just think about it. Hey, listen, I love you all. This is David,
- 14:41the host, the legendary of the Deconstructing Topic Podcast.
- 14:44Oh, we making it happen all day, every day.
- 14:48Once again, hit that like, comment, share, buy, and subscribe.
- 14:52I'm all over. We talking about all that.
- 14:55And then some. I'm out of here. Peace.
