- 0:02Speaker 1: I don't even know why I'm hosting. I forgot to
- 0:04Speaker 1: ask you this the other day, but I'm not gonna
- 0:06Speaker 1: forget twice this student called a postseason game.
- 0:12Speaker 2: Yeah, for about forty five seconds, you did check it
- 0:16Speaker 2: off the list.
- 0:17Speaker 3: I'm there.
- 0:17Speaker 2: I got a lot of a lot of good feedback
- 0:19Speaker 2: from ESPN and then the boys there and uh, the
- 0:22Speaker 2: only thing I did wrong I forgot who was hitting.
- 0:25Speaker 2: That's you know it it's hard.
- 0:26Speaker 1: You know.
- 0:27Speaker 2: When I got there, They're like, all right, well he's
- 0:29Speaker 2: not back, go ahead, and I said, all right, here
- 0:31Speaker 2: we go. And I'm not mentally, you know, I just
- 0:32Speaker 2: started rambling some shit off excuse me stuff and the
- 0:37Speaker 2: way it went, man, it was a lot of fun.
- 0:38Speaker 2: It's something you know, to think about. I think that'd
- 0:41Speaker 2: be pretty cool to try. And you know, call be
- 0:43Speaker 2: the play by play guy and it's it's a it's
- 0:46Speaker 2: I tell you what. It's a lot more work. Don't
- 0:48Speaker 2: get me wrong, I do all my homework. I do
- 0:49Speaker 2: a lot. But I understand if you're the top dog
- 0:51Speaker 2: like Scott has been, you know, his whole career, it's
- 0:54Speaker 2: it's a different ballgame. So it was fun for the
- 0:57Speaker 2: forty five seconds to a minute, I had it, but
- 0:59Speaker 2: I was relieved when Sean got back in there for.
- 1:01Speaker 1: Sure what happened? Are you allowed to share?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I think the door when he left
- 1:08Speaker 2: to go get something real quick, locked behind him. That's
- 1:10Speaker 2: what he told us. And no, he was banging on
- 1:13Speaker 2: the door. I guess the crowd was too loud you
- 1:14Speaker 2: couldn't hear him. And finally, I guess the security guy
- 1:17Speaker 2: that was there had something to open the door up.
- 1:19Speaker 1: But we have a code red national broadcaster for ESPN
- 1:24Speaker 1: for this game. Cannot get into the broadcast with code red.
- 1:27Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I guess rule thumb don't ever lock the door any
- 1:31Speaker 2: or don't ever shut the door, just in case. So
- 1:33Speaker 2: security was tight there, which is good.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Yeah, we like that. We like that. But Todd father
- 1:37Speaker 1: was a play by play guy for game one. Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 1: towards the beginning of Game one. Ye, So there you go.
- 1:45Speaker 1: If you want to look back, I'm sure you can
- 1:46Speaker 1: find it somewhere.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Now.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Later today we are going to do a postgame show
- 1:52Speaker 1: on the Mariners and the Tigers. We are crossing fingers
- 1:55Speaker 1: that will start on time. That'd be cool. I know
- 1:57Speaker 1: that it's a little wet out in Detroit. Hopefully not
- 2:00Speaker 1: too Cray, but Mariners Tiger's Game three series is tied
- 2:04Speaker 1: at one. We've been doing postgame shows. We had one
- 2:07Speaker 1: late on Monday night. We did the Cubs Brewers follow up,
- 2:12Speaker 1: and then we also broke down the Phillies and Dodgers.
- 2:14Speaker 1: We'll talk more about those series throughout the show here,
- 2:16Speaker 1: but just letting you know that we did do live
- 2:19Speaker 1: shows and post videos in case you missed them for
- 2:22Speaker 1: postgame thoughts. Now, let's charge charge, all right, Todd father,
- 2:30Speaker 1: we haven't had Yawn since the Blue Jays smacked the Yankees.
- 2:34Speaker 1: I know you like to virtually smack Aeric Kratz. This
- 2:37Speaker 1: was in person here two games tons of offense from Toronto.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Yankee showed some fight in game two, but overall for
- 2:44Speaker 1: a team that you've covered all year, really you've seen
- 2:47Speaker 1: both the Yankees and the Blue Jays quite frequently. Your
- 2:50Speaker 1: thoughts on these two so far.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Well, not very good if you want.
- 2:54Speaker 1: The truth, Well, not very good for the Yankees.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, that's what I'm meant. If people know me,
- 3:00Speaker 2: they understand where I'm coming from. To give up that
- 3:04Speaker 2: many runs. I remember I was watching I was at
- 3:07Speaker 2: my sister and lost her little birthday party. I'm sitting
- 3:09Speaker 2: there watching the game, and you know, we're all rooting
- 3:12Speaker 2: for the Yankees. Bases loaded, and you got Aaron Judge
- 3:14Speaker 2: up with nobody out here. We go the time to
- 3:17Speaker 2: come and he swung at ball four. It was just
- 3:21Speaker 2: you could feel it. After that, it's like, oh yeah,
- 3:23Speaker 2: you got the run in from Bellinger and then it
- 3:25Speaker 2: was just you get one run with bases loaded and
- 3:27Speaker 2: you're still down two to one, and the wheels fell off.
- 3:30Speaker 2: I I you know, I don't know if Toronto just
- 3:33Speaker 2: has their number this year, and it's it's kind of amazing,
- 3:36Speaker 2: you know. I think it's I'm not saying Blue Jays
- 3:39Speaker 2: aren't a good team, but it just seems like it
- 3:41Speaker 2: shouldn't be this far of a disconnect of run scored
- 3:45Speaker 2: and everything else goes to show you that Toronto is
- 3:48Speaker 2: one of the best places to play in, one of
- 3:50Speaker 2: the toughest places to win in. In a playoff atmosphere,
- 3:54Speaker 2: Vlad Guerrero, I mean, holy cow, Junior, he's taking off,
- 3:58Speaker 2: you know, no, Bobashett and guy says, you know what,
- 4:01Speaker 2: I got this, I'll take the reins, give me, give
- 4:03Speaker 2: me the reins.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I got it.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I mean, you look at his numbers, absolutely silly right
- 4:07Speaker 2: now and he MVP right now status for him. And
- 4:11Speaker 2: the pitching has been absolutely phenomenal. Kevin Gosman. I mean,
- 4:15Speaker 2: we knew how good of a pitcher he was. He's
- 4:19Speaker 2: just stepping up that.
- 4:20Speaker 3: I think.
- 4:20Speaker 2: It's a split change that he throws is absolutely filthy.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Looks like a fastball falls off the planet Earth. I mean,
- 4:26Speaker 2: got to swing at it because it looks so tasty.
- 4:28Speaker 2: But yeah, I mean there's so much more you can
- 4:31Speaker 2: say about this team. They are just getting pushed in.
- 4:34Speaker 2: They are just getting absolutely crushing. That's the Yankees and
- 4:36Speaker 2: they got to figure it out. Been a part of
- 4:38Speaker 2: both of them. Been with the Yankees when we're down,
- 4:40Speaker 2: oh two against the Guardians and now you're gonna have
- 4:43Speaker 2: to step up and win two at home.
- 4:44Speaker 1: You guys won that serious.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, we came back in one three in a row.
- 4:47Speaker 2: And I've been on the other end two you know,
- 4:50Speaker 2: we beat We were up against the Giants in two
- 4:52Speaker 2: thousand and fourteen, thirteen maybe and.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Twelve or fourteen, yeah, one twelve, excuse me.
- 4:59Speaker 2: And we go to San France and we want two
- 5:03Speaker 2: in a row and we're flying home fielding really good,
- 5:06Speaker 2: and then you know an error in the in the
- 5:08Speaker 2: top of the ninth. They won three two, and you
- 5:10Speaker 2: see it. It's that one game. It's that momentum shift.
- 5:13Speaker 2: If you can win game three in best out of five,
- 5:16Speaker 2: it just turns it just a little bit more to
- 5:19Speaker 2: be like, oh the other like Toronto. If the Yankees
- 5:22Speaker 2: win today, all of a sudden, Toronto's gonna be on
- 5:24Speaker 2: their heels. The Yankees got nothing to lose. They got
- 5:26Speaker 2: to go out and dominate. Toronto's like, all right, we
- 5:28Speaker 2: still have two games, but we'd like to win here.
- 5:30Speaker 2: So it's that psyche and that mentality of we don't
- 5:33Speaker 2: want to get it to a game five.
- 5:34Speaker 3: So game three is very very important.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Todd, we played the Indians in twenty seventeen.
- 5:40Speaker 2: And.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Big thing.
- 5:43Speaker 4: I remember a grand Slam kind of broke our back
- 5:46Speaker 4: in that in that game, kind of like a grand
- 5:49Speaker 4: Slam broke the Yankees back by by Vladdie. Kind of
- 5:53Speaker 4: wasn't even that close when we were in Cleveland, and
- 5:56Speaker 4: I remember sitting in a bullpen like really like these
- 6:00Speaker 4: guys are beating us. And then and then we went
- 6:03Speaker 4: back home, took game three, and then you had the
- 6:08Speaker 4: Andrew Miller Greg Bird game. When you go back home,
- 6:13Speaker 4: you have the exact same ability to dominate the team
- 6:17Speaker 4: that you dominated at home during the regular season. I
- 6:20Speaker 4: think the Blue Jays correct me if I'm wrong, are
- 6:23Speaker 4: one in eight in their last nine games at Yankee Stadium,
- 6:27Speaker 4: So to me, I think it kind of shifts to
- 6:30Speaker 4: the Yankees a little bit. But the Yankees got to
- 6:32Speaker 4: come out and they got to get on top here
- 6:34Speaker 4: because you can't keep playing from behind, especially from behind
- 6:37Speaker 4: two or three runs.
- 6:40Speaker 1: This episode is presented by Fox One are presenting sponsor
- 6:43Speaker 1: for the next few weeks. Here the playoff coverage is
- 6:46Speaker 1: brought to you by Fox one on foul Territory because
- 6:49Speaker 1: we want to keep reminding everyone that all Alds and
- 6:52Speaker 1: Alcs games, playoff games, and the World Series can be
- 6:55Speaker 1: found on a Fox one and if you want to
- 6:57Speaker 1: try it out, you've got a seven day free trial
- 6:59Speaker 1: that you can go to foxwe dot com for We
- 7:02Speaker 1: post the description uh the link to the description in
- 7:05Speaker 1: the episode with our FT links. If you want to
- 7:08Speaker 1: click that and give us a little love, that would
- 7:09Speaker 1: be cool. We're working our asses off all postseason long,
- 7:13Speaker 1: and you can see that Tigers Mariners game that Prazinski
- 7:16Speaker 1: and Wayne Right and Adam Amin are going to be
- 7:18Speaker 1: calling again. If you're like, ah, I don't have an
- 7:21Speaker 1: option here. Fox one seven day free trial, go check
- 7:24Speaker 1: it out. They have live goats. Like you like that
- 7:31Speaker 1: he does? He does. It's a great headshot for him anyway,
- 7:35Speaker 1: stream all your Fox favorites together in one place at
- 7:38Speaker 1: the Fox one app. Don't you think this is going
- 7:42Speaker 1: to be a tough team to beat three in a
- 7:44Speaker 1: row regardless, just based on some of the standout pitching
- 7:48Speaker 1: that they have. And I know that could be looked
- 7:50Speaker 1: at it as the weaker point of the team, right
- 7:53Speaker 1: maybe parts of the bullpen, But I think there are
- 7:56Speaker 1: enough talented arms, there's enough contact in the offense. It's
- 8:00Speaker 1: about who's clicking at the right times. This is a
- 8:02Speaker 1: Boba sheetless offense too, by the way, that looks really
- 8:05Speaker 1: damn good right now. But like you said, Blady has
- 8:08Speaker 1: the ability to be a top five hitter in the sport.
- 8:12Speaker 1: He's doing that right now. He's tough to strike out,
- 8:15Speaker 1: he'll take a walk, and he's got crazy pop the
- 8:18Speaker 1: dream bat.
- 8:19Speaker 2: And he's not afraid of the moment. And I think
- 8:23Speaker 2: that's the biggest thing. You see him stepping up in
- 8:24Speaker 2: these moments. There's not much more you can say about
- 8:29Speaker 2: the guy. He's absolutely phenomenal. You know, you say, oh,
- 8:31Speaker 2: he had a bad year. You know, I remember two
- 8:33Speaker 2: years ago he didn't hit a home run at home
- 8:35Speaker 2: until halfway during the season. Something like that. The dude
- 8:38Speaker 2: can freaking flat out play and that's the issue. There's
- 8:41Speaker 2: not one pitch you can get by him. You get
- 8:43Speaker 2: O two, don't make a mistake. He's looking for that
- 8:46Speaker 2: pitch and he's been absolutely filthy with it. And you know,
- 8:50Speaker 2: I always talk about riding that wavescooter and next thing,
- 8:53Speaker 2: you know, it's like, God, how can the Yankees do this?
- 8:55Speaker 2: But they can. They do have the firepower. They have
- 8:58Speaker 2: to find a win to win this one. In Game four,
- 9:00Speaker 2: we don't know if it's a bullpen game for the
- 9:02Speaker 2: for the Blue Jays or not, but if it is
- 9:04Speaker 2: with Cam Schlitzler, who's riding really high right now, we
- 9:08Speaker 2: could see this calling back to Toronto. But again, this
- 9:11Speaker 2: is the most important game. Win the day and move forward.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Stop worrying about where you're at in the in placement.
- 9:17Speaker 1: Mm hm, Hey, I thought the Blue Jays made a
- 9:20Speaker 1: brilliant trade and pick up with the Shane Bieber acquisition
- 9:24Speaker 1: at the deadline, and this is his time to shine.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Biaber's been around for a while. I know he hasn't
- 9:29Speaker 1: had a ton of starts yet since coming back from
- 9:31Speaker 1: the surgery, but he's not going to be phased at
- 9:33Speaker 1: Yankee Stadium.
- 9:34Speaker 3: At all, not at all.
- 9:35Speaker 1: Reddan's good, But to me, this matchup is kind of
- 9:38Speaker 1: a wash. I mean, I feel like they're both number
- 9:41Speaker 1: two ish yeah starters.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Shane b reminds me of that Dylan see is kind
- 9:46Speaker 2: of attitude, just like, give we go a grippet of
- 9:48Speaker 2: repidies my best pitches. You can hit it, go ahead,
- 9:50Speaker 2: but most of the time you're really not gonna hit it.
- 9:53Speaker 2: What do you think, go ahead?
- 9:54Speaker 3: No, You're fine?
- 9:55Speaker 1: No, No. About the pitching matchup, Kratz, I mean, do
- 9:57Speaker 1: you think there's an edge?
- 10:00Speaker 4: I mean, I think Rodan's had a little bit of
- 10:02Speaker 4: trouble against the Blue Jays because he's been walking guys
- 10:06Speaker 4: and obviously they're not going to strike out a ton,
- 10:08Speaker 4: So that's where I see the issue there. But I
- 10:13Speaker 4: think Bieber has the edge if and I'm going back
- 10:16Speaker 4: to twenty twenty and I said this to Bieber when
- 10:18Speaker 4: he was on the show here he was tipping in
- 10:21Speaker 4: twenty twenty in Cleveland, they were the home team because
- 10:26Speaker 4: COVID you had to go the first round to the
- 10:28Speaker 4: home team, and we went in there and I think
- 10:30Speaker 4: that was Cy Young Shae Shane Bieber, and it was
- 10:34Speaker 4: basically a separation between his glove coming up and his
- 10:38Speaker 4: leg coming up. There was more separation, less separation somewhere
- 10:41Speaker 4: in there, and they had him g went to write
- 10:46Speaker 4: center off of them, I think maybe twice. But so
- 10:51Speaker 4: if he can eliminate that, if he can avoid that,
- 10:54Speaker 4: this is his first start against them this season. To me,
- 10:57Speaker 4: I think the advantage is with the Jays pitching matchup
- 11:01Speaker 4: if they don't have something else on them.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Okay, if Aaron Judge doesn't have a big home run
- 11:09Speaker 1: in Game three and the Yankees fall, how do you
- 11:14Speaker 1: look at this postseason and his postseason legacy so far.
- 11:18Speaker 1: I know he has to win a World Series to
- 11:20Speaker 1: solidify things as a legend in New York. He hasn't
- 11:23Speaker 1: done that yet. He's getting knocks. He doesn't look as
- 11:26Speaker 1: lost as he did last year, but you do have
- 11:29Speaker 1: to deliver in the big moments and Also, he doesn't
- 11:32Speaker 1: look like the same guy. I mean, the expectations are
- 11:34Speaker 1: sky high. They should be. He's the best hitter in
- 11:37Speaker 1: our generation, but he's not the same hitter in the postseason.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And it's not like we're getting a game or two
- 11:42Speaker 1: here or there. I mean, he's locked some pretty serious
- 11:44Speaker 1: postseason time.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Listen, when you talk about legend, he's gonna be a
- 11:47Speaker 2: legend either way in my book, whether he wins a
- 11:49Speaker 2: World Series or not. He's just gonna go down as
- 11:52Speaker 2: a person that hasn't won a World Series for the Yankees.
- 11:54Speaker 3: And that's it. There's been a bunch of them.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Don Maddingly the name one who isn't absolutely phenomenal who
- 12:00Speaker 2: he was an absolutely phenomenal baseball player and manager. You
- 12:04Speaker 2: shouldn't think of this guy any different. He's an absolute stud.
- 12:07Speaker 2: He's hitting the ball. It's a totally different Aaron Judge. Yeah,
- 12:09Speaker 2: he hasn't pop one out, and eventually that will come
- 12:12Speaker 2: with more games if it happens. But there's no doubt
- 12:15Speaker 2: in my mind he's one of the most prolific hitters
- 12:17Speaker 2: we're ever going to see in our time. And there's
- 12:20Speaker 2: no other way you should think about him like that.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Everybody talks about the playoffs. I remember when we were
- 12:24Speaker 2: in there in seventeen Cratzy, how good was he? He was
- 12:28Speaker 2: absolutely filthy. So you know it's hit or miss. But
- 12:32Speaker 2: this year he's doing just fine. The power numbers just
- 12:34Speaker 2: aren't there.
- 12:34Speaker 4: What are you going to do if he hits eight
- 12:38Speaker 4: hundred for the rest of the postseason, he hits five
- 12:42Speaker 4: more dingers and they lose in Game seven of the
- 12:45Speaker 4: World Series, it won't matter. It won't matter if you want.
- 12:50Speaker 4: If he wants to be legend status like is Don
- 12:54Speaker 4: Mattingly legend status like the guys who won all those
- 12:59Speaker 4: championship I would say he's probably a tier below if
- 13:04Speaker 4: he wants that legend status. I don't think he wants
- 13:06Speaker 4: that legend status. I think he just wants the World
- 13:08Speaker 4: Series ring. But if he wants that does not matter
- 13:12Speaker 4: what he does. It only matters what the team does.
- 13:15Speaker 1: You're talking Jeter Posada, Mo, anybody was Babe, we're.
- 13:24Speaker 4: Talking Yankee history. We're not talking baseball history. Baseball history.
- 13:28Speaker 4: He's going to go down as an unbelievable hitter. I'm
- 13:31Speaker 4: talking Yankee history. How he's going to be remembered.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Let me ask you this question, if you had to
- 13:37Speaker 2: pick a right fielder the most Yankees from when they
- 13:40Speaker 2: first started to now, who's going.
- 13:41Speaker 3: To be your right fielder?
- 13:43Speaker 4: You mean best ones?
- 13:45Speaker 2: Yeah, if you're going with the all time Yankee lineup,
- 13:47Speaker 2: is Aaron Judge in that lineup?
- 13:49Speaker 3: How about that? Sorry? Yeah, okay, that's a legend of me.
- 13:54Speaker 4: Though, No, okay, he's done first base.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I'm thinking back to all the first basemen. I can't
- 14:05Speaker 2: I can't think. I think it would have to be
- 14:07Speaker 2: no who else.
- 14:09Speaker 1: I'm trying to simplify it here for me, Like, here's
- 14:12Speaker 1: the thing. He's in one thousand o ps guy, and
- 14:14Speaker 1: in the playoffs in the last several years, he's more
- 14:17Speaker 1: like a seven to fifty.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, sure that power numbers have dropped ye in
- 14:21Speaker 2: the playoffs. Of course, you know nobody's denying that. But
- 14:23Speaker 2: the team is.
- 14:24Speaker 1: Built for him to look like he did in the
- 14:26Speaker 1: regular season, and if he doesn't, the team is not
- 14:29Speaker 1: the same. Last year they had the gian Carlos stan
- 14:33Speaker 1: Is on another planet card this year not yet. So
- 14:36Speaker 1: if you don't get that, they're waiting for Judge bases
- 14:39Speaker 1: loaded that opportunity. You watch Judge all year, you're like
- 14:43Speaker 1: walk minimum, maybe double or a Grand Slam, and he
- 14:47Speaker 1: doesn't come through. And I know it's just one ab,
- 14:49Speaker 1: but my point is, overall Kratz, if he doesn't look
- 14:52Speaker 1: like a beast as he does in the regular season,
- 14:55Speaker 1: it does cost the Yankees. They're built for him to
- 14:57Speaker 1: be a one thousand oh ps guy playoffs regular season.
- 15:00Speaker 1: I know it's tougher pitching in the playoffs, but still
- 15:03Speaker 1: I would say when you look at his abs, they're
- 15:05Speaker 1: nice abs. It's just not what we usually see from
- 15:07Speaker 1: him exactly.
- 15:08Speaker 4: Yeah, but we can't meld like the conversations into like
- 15:11Speaker 4: does it matter to the Yankees. Yeah, it matters, like
- 15:14Speaker 4: it definitely matters, But we're talking about his legacy. To me,
- 15:18Speaker 4: I think it's a little different and one at bat.
- 15:21Speaker 4: One at bat doesn't change people's minds because Emmanuel Clausse
- 15:26Speaker 4: would say Judge had a pretty decent at bat against
- 15:29Speaker 4: him last year, kind of a big spot went apo
- 15:32Speaker 4: rocket down the right field line, Like there's it's not
- 15:37Speaker 4: one at bat. To me, it's not the results. It's
- 15:40Speaker 4: about does he get a ring or does he not
- 15:42Speaker 4: get a ring? If we're talking about legacy, does the
- 15:44Speaker 4: team need him to do well for them to get
- 15:47Speaker 4: a ring. Yes, but I think they're two different arguments
- 15:51Speaker 4: or discussions, and.
- 15:53Speaker 2: I don't I don't want to keep going at you,
- 15:55Speaker 2: which we don't.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I'm just from my opinion.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I think his legacy is always going to be there,
- 15:59Speaker 2: no matter if he wins a World Series with that help,
- 16:02Speaker 2: of course, but he's got sixty two home runs, you know,
- 16:05Speaker 2: besides Barry Bonds, he's the only one to ever reach
- 16:08Speaker 2: that plateau. So he's the home run leader in a
- 16:12Speaker 2: single season. He's a guy that has feared all over
- 16:15Speaker 2: the land. We might never see a guy of this stature,
- 16:18Speaker 2: you know. Show Hao Tani. I feel like he's in
- 16:20Speaker 2: a different world because he pitches. But for me, he's
- 16:23Speaker 2: my number one pick overall after Show Hao Tani, pretty
- 16:28Speaker 2: much everybody so and last thing, I had a brain fart.
- 16:32Speaker 3: Lou Garrick was a first baseman. I just had a
- 16:34Speaker 3: brain fart there.
- 16:35Speaker 2: He would be my pick at first base, Scott.
- 16:41Speaker 1: It's a good pick, all right. Pinstripe Territory will go
- 16:45Speaker 1: over this. I think Derek's been, you know, a little
- 16:47Speaker 1: bit critical because he's like Judge has to show up
- 16:50Speaker 1: in those spots. That's how this team's built. I'm sure
- 16:52Speaker 1: trying to bring the message over from Derek. You can
- 16:54Speaker 1: listen more to Derek. He's posting pregame shows. He's got
- 16:57Speaker 1: postgame shows like he does all season long, and he'll
- 16:59Speaker 1: have one after the Yankees and the Blue Jays. Reminder,
- 17:02Speaker 1: we're doing hours after that first game, the Tigers and
- 17:06Speaker 1: the Mariners, a Philly special. That's NBC Philly reporter John Clark,
- 17:18Speaker 1: who's a who. I'd been around him plenty of times.
- 17:20Speaker 1: He's always got his phone on with video. But he
- 17:22Speaker 1: did capture the Duran entrance and we talked about this
- 17:25Speaker 1: a little little bit last night with Kratz. They were booing,
- 17:28Speaker 1: not Duran, they were booing life. They lost both.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Games at home.
- 17:33Speaker 1: They've lost a lot of playoff games at home lately.
- 17:35Speaker 3: What was the score of that thing? They were down
- 17:37Speaker 3: right when he came.
- 17:38Speaker 1: Yeah, they were down by a few.
- 17:39Speaker 2: See, I think all closers, if you're not up in
- 17:42Speaker 2: the game, they shouldn't have the lights in it. They
- 17:44Speaker 2: could have the music. You don't want the pumping cert don't.
- 17:47Speaker 2: I don't want that, especially when you're down, when you
- 17:50Speaker 2: could play your favorite song, you know, for Edwin, go ahead,
- 17:54Speaker 2: but you don't have to the lights and everything else.
- 17:57Speaker 2: In my opinion, if it's the fans for okay, you
- 17:59Speaker 2: want to do it for the fans. But when you're
- 18:01Speaker 2: losing coming in a game, play the music, try and
- 18:03Speaker 2: get everything going and work from there.
- 18:06Speaker 3: I like that.
- 18:07Speaker 4: I like that. I think this is why Philly fans
- 18:10Speaker 4: booed Santa Claus because when they're mad, that's what they do.
- 18:13Speaker 1: They boo about Josh Naylor having a kid. Oh man,
- 18:19Speaker 1: that's a baseball fan.
- 18:20Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But he's back, so we don't need to talk about
- 18:24Speaker 1: any bs with the with the kid at this time.
- 18:27Speaker 1: And is he going to miss the game? He's back,
- 18:28Speaker 1: you need to make the trip initially. He's in the
- 18:30Speaker 1: starting lineup for Game three. And if he wasn't then
- 18:33Speaker 1: missed the game. He's having a kid.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Listen, life comes me for anything else. I don't care
- 18:41Speaker 2: what you say. You cannot plan of the time. There's
- 18:45Speaker 2: stuff you could do to plan things. Have children.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Some can't.
- 18:48Speaker 1: Yeah, you want to bring you want to bring beautiful
- 18:50Speaker 1: children into the world.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Any day, anytime. Game seven. I don't really care children.
- 18:55Speaker 1: First, Yep, you don't miss.
- 18:58Speaker 4: You don't miss the birth of your child unless something,
- 19:00Speaker 4: unless you can't get there for some reason, like he
- 19:04Speaker 4: had the chance to be there. It's awesome in the
- 19:06Speaker 4: off day, like, yeah, you missed the game. Sorry, sorry
- 19:10Speaker 4: fans may Daby fan should look at it too and
- 19:12Speaker 4: be like it's okay. It's okay.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Unless you're a Kratz and you have five kids a
- 19:16Speaker 2: fifth one you can miss.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Right right eventually, Yeah, tell one of them.
- 19:21Speaker 2: We got a girl, we got a boy. Just let
- 19:23Speaker 2: me know, make sure, just call me, send me a picture.
- 19:29Speaker 1: It looks like me. Yeah. But but but good for
- 19:32Speaker 1: Josh and the fam. And yes, if that delivery was
- 19:35Speaker 1: happening during game three, you would not be there, but
- 19:38Speaker 1: he will be there ft fam. Let's talk about Superpower.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Eric Kratz is a proud Superpower customer, and he's going
- 19:46Speaker 1: to give us more of the personal experience. But I'll
- 19:49Speaker 1: just start it with this. You ever go to the
- 19:50Speaker 1: doctor and Doc's just like, oh, drink more water. Are
- 19:52Speaker 1: you looking for more data, more of a game plan?
- 19:56Speaker 1: Superpower does that for you. They give you the experience
- 19:59Speaker 1: that athletes get with teams.
- 20:03Speaker 4: The lab results came back for me. Now it's streamlines
- 20:07Speaker 4: everything that I kind of had an idea of but
- 20:10Speaker 4: now it really lets me focus on the things that
- 20:13Speaker 4: I'm deficient in, the things that I that I have good,
- 20:17Speaker 4: good lab test results from, and I could go in
- 20:20Speaker 4: that direction.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I want to go nutritional guidance, supplement suggestions, you name it.
- 20:25Speaker 1: There's so much more info to check out at superpower
- 20:28Speaker 1: dot com and you can lock in the special one
- 20:30Speaker 1: hundred and ninety nine dollars price while at lasts after
- 20:33Speaker 1: you sign up, they're gonna ask you how you heard
- 20:34Speaker 1: about them, mention ft to support the show. Your biology decoded,
- 20:38Speaker 1: your blueprint activated with Superpower, let's say better than box scores.
- 20:51Speaker 1: We had a great live postgame show recap reactions to
- 20:55Speaker 1: the Brewers and the Cubs. We have that on our
- 20:57Speaker 1: YouTube channel. We did that right after the game with
- 20:59Speaker 1: Craft and Kevin Pillar. Are going to give you more. Now,
- 21:02Speaker 1: here is the aftermath the day after the hangover for
- 21:06Speaker 1: the Chicago Cubs right now, because they're one loss away.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I was riding their being done.
- 21:13Speaker 3: So man, I was riding high.
- 21:15Speaker 1: What did you expect? And then what did you see?
- 21:18Speaker 3: I expected them to not give up that many runs in.
- 21:21Speaker 2: The first inning of the first game, and I expected
- 21:25Speaker 2: them I expect to be a low scoring game. I said, yeah,
- 21:28Speaker 2: I did, just because of what I saw before against
- 21:30Speaker 2: the Padres, a nasty, nasty team meaning good. I expected
- 21:34Speaker 2: a love scoring game. I expected the cub to find
- 21:36Speaker 2: a way to win one of those games you go
- 21:39Speaker 2: three to nothing. I was watching like, oh my god,
- 21:41Speaker 2: Suzuki just had an absolute missile, and then mister ol'
- 21:45Speaker 2: vaughn said time out.
- 21:46Speaker 3: I'm just gonna pop fly to left.
- 21:48Speaker 2: My wait, oh my god, it's gone three run Jimmy jacket.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Next thing you know, I'm like, this game's over. That's it.
- 21:55Speaker 2: You can't give up the three run homer in the
- 21:57Speaker 2: first and then another three run home in the bottom
- 22:00Speaker 2: of the first and think like you're in You're the Cubs.
- 22:03Speaker 2: You're like, god, we just gave him our best punch
- 22:05Speaker 2: and they just went bang bang bang.
- 22:08Speaker 3: That It is this.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Shutdown in your mind. You know, when you hit that
- 22:13Speaker 1: three run homer, even though it's in the first inning,
- 22:15Speaker 1: if you get past that bottom one, does that mean anything?
- 22:19Speaker 1: It does, dude. Yeah, the reaction right after the next at.
- 22:22Speaker 3: Least a momentum, at least of momentum.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I'm not saying it's game over, but that's that's like, okay,
- 22:28Speaker 2: all right, we're here, all right, let's go.
- 22:31Speaker 3: So sorry Cratzy jumped.
- 22:34Speaker 4: I don't know the whole the whole shutdown anything. I'm
- 22:37Speaker 4: kind of it's kind of like home field advantage. Is
- 22:41Speaker 4: there a momentum thing, yes, but the shutdown inning if
- 22:45Speaker 4: you need, if you need to be like, oh, I
- 22:47Speaker 4: gotta get up as a pitcher, I gotta get up
- 22:49Speaker 4: for this inning. The boys need me.
- 22:50Speaker 3: To shut it down.
- 22:52Speaker 1: You're cooked.
- 22:53Speaker 4: You're cooked. It's not gonna happen. Like you better. You
- 22:56Speaker 4: better be going out there to shut every one of
- 22:58Speaker 4: them dudes down, every single pit you're throwing. So is
- 23:03Speaker 4: it big for the hitters? Yeah, it's big for the hitters.
- 23:05Speaker 4: If you go one, two, three, boys are like, man,
- 23:07Speaker 4: I just took my batting gloves off. I'm ready to
- 23:09Speaker 4: get my second at bat already here it's like seven
- 23:12Speaker 4: minutes ago we were just hitting that. That's helpful.
- 23:16Speaker 1: I think having the Maze throwing enough strikes, he's going
- 23:20Speaker 1: to be helpful for Milwaukee.
- 23:22Speaker 2: That was nasty and where there we all talked about
- 23:26Speaker 2: his second half. I mean, his fastball was electric, it
- 23:30Speaker 2: was just absolutely by you. And then a slider at
- 23:32Speaker 2: ninety five.
- 23:33Speaker 3: What is that? Why does anybody want to play anymore?
- 23:36Speaker 3: When it's got a ninety five mile hour slider. It's
- 23:39Speaker 3: not a slider, it's just a cut fastball. That's filthy.
- 23:43Speaker 2: God, ninety five, that's five mile an hour difference, and
- 23:47Speaker 2: it will get you out in front. How How are
- 23:49Speaker 2: you out in front of a ninety five mile an
- 23:51Speaker 2: hour cut slide? Yankee, doodle dandy, don't. I don't know.
- 23:55Speaker 2: I'm just he was nasty, and you know he drew
- 23:59Speaker 2: upwards of forty something pitches, but god, two walks, four strikeouts,
- 24:03Speaker 2: I don't care. You go walk the whole side. You're
- 24:05Speaker 2: still not getting anybody. Then that was really good showing
- 24:07Speaker 2: by him.
- 24:08Speaker 1: He's got to throw enough strikes though, That is the key, right,
- 24:10Speaker 1: I mean, he threw just enough. There were times you're
- 24:12Speaker 1: looking and you're like, okay, is he gonna find the
- 24:14Speaker 1: zone enough? And I don't remember if it was like
- 24:16Speaker 1: second or third av maybe he's facing someone. He falls
- 24:20Speaker 1: behind three to zero and I'm like, oh, are we
- 24:22Speaker 1: just gonna get a string of misses here? But he
- 24:24Speaker 1: corralled it.
- 24:26Speaker 4: He did. Carrell. If you watched Contraras just stayed in
- 24:30Speaker 4: the middle of the plate. He would back up some sliders,
- 24:34Speaker 4: he would throw the fastball up above his zone. By accident,
- 24:37Speaker 4: he just stayed in the middle of the plate. And
- 24:38Speaker 4: it was like, let's just let's just throw heaters, which
- 24:42Speaker 4: is a which is also like, that's scary to do.
- 24:45Speaker 4: You had a one run lead after the Contrera's home run,
- 24:49Speaker 4: and you're like, all right, I guess you know he's
- 24:53Speaker 4: you know, we can't give up a run here. We
- 24:55Speaker 4: don't want him to tie the ball game up. They
- 24:56Speaker 4: were like, I think our stuff plays the whole zone.
- 25:01Speaker 4: He hung a he hung an indoor curveball. He hung
- 25:04Speaker 4: a curveball inside for strike three to Dansby Swanson. That
- 25:08Speaker 4: was eighty nine. But Todd, You're going, oh my gosh,
- 25:12Speaker 4: this guy's nasty. This guy's so nasty. You're looking at
- 25:15Speaker 4: the numbers. My thing is, I don't see the swings
- 25:20Speaker 4: coinciding with the numbers. Maybe I'm wrong, and it was
- 25:24Speaker 4: a great outing. I don't know how much confidence Pat
- 25:29Speaker 4: Murphy has going forward. I wonder if he's like, all right,
- 25:34Speaker 4: did it, got it. It's out of the way. I'm
- 25:36Speaker 4: wondering what I'm wondering, what's gonna be what his next
- 25:40Speaker 4: outing will look like.
- 25:41Speaker 1: H Okay, I mean he might not have one. I'm
- 25:44Speaker 1: they in this series pretty quickly, but yeah, going forward, say,
- 25:48Speaker 1: if he's taken on the Dodgers will be interesting. It's
- 25:50Speaker 1: a pretty patient team too, all right, So Bridge ROLLI
- 25:53Speaker 1: just put out this big manager carousel update. A few
- 25:57Speaker 1: of the notable notes. Former Big League catchered Nick Hunley
- 26:01Speaker 1: the favorite for the opening with the Giants. You spoke
- 26:04Speaker 1: about that the other day. Albert is the favorite for
- 26:07Speaker 1: the Angels gig, but Tory Hunter and Kurt Suzuki are
- 26:10Speaker 1: also in the mix. She said. Rocoball Deli, Brandon Hyde,
- 26:13Speaker 1: and Davey Martinez want to manage again. Colorado's waiting to
- 26:17Speaker 1: hire their front office leader first, then they'll figure out manager.
- 26:21Speaker 1: Lots of other notes on here, anything stick out so
- 26:25Speaker 1: far to you guys in terms of the openings.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Not the openings, but the guys who are free agents.
- 26:33Speaker 4: I love that for Rockoball Deli, I love that he
- 26:36Speaker 4: got out of there because the ORG wasn't behind him,
- 26:39Speaker 4: especially like what I've heard from his players about him,
- 26:42Speaker 4: what I've heard from people have talked to him about it.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Like to me, I think he can slide into one
- 26:47Speaker 4: of the few jobs that they need a winner right away,
- 26:52Speaker 4: and people in misso it'll be like, oh, he's not
- 26:54Speaker 4: a winner. He created a bad environment for them to lose.
- 26:58Speaker 4: No to me, I think I don't know if he
- 27:00Speaker 4: has those connections with alex Anthopolis, but going down to Atlanta,
- 27:05Speaker 4: somebody with experience like that knows how to deal with
- 27:08Speaker 4: a team, but also knows, Hey, you know what, We're
- 27:11Speaker 4: just gonna kind of go and put those boys out there,
- 27:13Speaker 4: let him play.
- 27:15Speaker 1: And a chip on your shoulder manager, I think is
- 27:18Speaker 1: a thing too. Obviously he's gonna do what he does.
- 27:21Speaker 1: But does Rocco Balldli want to win? And I know
- 27:24Speaker 1: he can't control the game, right but if he goes
- 27:26Speaker 1: to the Braves, for example Kratz, I mean, he could
- 27:28Speaker 1: have a very good team from the jump. I don't
- 27:30Speaker 1: know if that's going to happen, but I like the call.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Derek Falvey, who's the head of the front office for
- 27:36Speaker 1: the Twins, said something along the lines of this is
- 27:40Speaker 1: on me, and I'm like, you're a nice guy, but
- 27:42Speaker 1: it's not on you. You just put it on Roco. It's
- 27:46Speaker 1: not at all. If it was on you, you wouldn't have.
- 27:48Speaker 3: You put it on rock All baby, it's.
- 27:50Speaker 1: On me, but we fired him. That's not how it works.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Listen, there's two names right here. I'm a little biased
- 27:56Speaker 2: because I really like these two guys. I want my
- 27:59Speaker 2: boy lash Ryan Flaherty to get a managerial job. I've
- 28:04Speaker 2: come up with the ranks with him. We had the
- 28:06Speaker 2: same agency together, we actually roomed together. He's a clown,
- 28:10Speaker 2: but he's a smart human being and he really knows
- 28:13Speaker 2: the game of baseball.
- 28:13Speaker 3: He's been coaching for a long time now. He knows
- 28:15Speaker 3: ins and outs.
- 28:16Speaker 2: He's a computer whiz now, maybe not back in the day,
- 28:19Speaker 2: but he knows his stuff. And George Lombard, man, this
- 28:22Speaker 2: guy is a truly remarkable dude. His wife went the Rutgers,
- 28:26Speaker 2: so I got to give him the upper hand too.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Just putting it out there. Yeah, I'd love to see
- 28:31Speaker 2: those two guys get a shot a big stut Flarity
- 28:38Speaker 2: Rockies my call, Oh that would be lobbly.
- 28:44Speaker 1: Ft fam. Another reason why you should love Arena Club
- 28:47Speaker 1: is the grading system. So you recently pulled a slap
- 28:51Speaker 1: pack and then you said, hey, it's not great. Great
- 28:54Speaker 1: it for me? They gave you an eight point five
- 28:56Speaker 1: out of ten on your Auto whitey Ford card and
- 28:58Speaker 1: then they show you all the details of the grading system.
- 29:02Speaker 1: It's very interactive within the app, and then you're done.
- 29:04Speaker 1: If you want to sell the card or you want
- 29:06Speaker 1: to know what it's worth, you've got it.
- 29:07Speaker 2: It's like getting taken a school on cards. And I
- 29:10Speaker 2: think that's the coolest part of it. If you're young
- 29:11Speaker 2: or old, you understand, hey, this is how it gets
- 29:14Speaker 2: deciphered all the way through. It shows you the numbers
- 29:17Speaker 2: and how they went through it. I think that's the
- 29:18Speaker 2: coolest part about this whole thing. And then you can
- 29:20Speaker 2: keep it traded or sell it or whatever you want.
- 29:22Speaker 1: And it's so much more efficient to do this through
- 29:26Speaker 1: Arena Club. Whether you're ripping a pack, there's the slab packs,
- 29:29Speaker 1: buying a card, selling a card, grading a card, it's
- 29:32Speaker 1: all there for you. We talk about it all season long.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Arena club dot com slash foul is where you can
- 29:37Speaker 1: go to give it a shot. Twenty percent off your
- 29:39Speaker 1: first card purchase arenaclub dot com slash foul. Use the
- 29:42Speaker 1: code foul at checkout and get twenty percent off Hot Corner. Literally,
- 29:48Speaker 1: we're talking about the play that changed the Dodgers Phillies series.
- 29:53Speaker 1: The wheel play, Tell me about it. You're a third baseman.
- 29:57Speaker 1: How often does this happen? How does this get drawn up?
- 30:00Speaker 1: This way? Was the bunt the right move? Give me everything?
- 30:03Speaker 2: This is going to be maybe maybe one time out
- 30:06Speaker 2: of the whole year that you get that opportunity and
- 30:10Speaker 2: do it right.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Cratzy.
- 30:11Speaker 2: It's got to be put on either by the bench
- 30:14Speaker 2: coach or a player. You talk about it, you go
- 30:17Speaker 2: over this in spring training and you I don't know
- 30:21Speaker 2: about you, Kratzy, but you barely do it during the year.
- 30:24Speaker 2: And if you do, you do it half assed. You're
- 30:26Speaker 2: going through the motions. You just want to get it
- 30:28Speaker 2: over with. They ran it to perfection. Maximuntsey crashes, Mookie
- 30:33Speaker 2: Betts breaks late, Castianos doesn't get off the bag more.
- 30:38Speaker 2: He needed to get off more there. I thought his
- 30:40Speaker 2: momentum was stuck at second. It was a perfect throw.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Freddie Freeman get in the second base so Stott couldn't
- 30:46Speaker 2: get to second.
- 30:48Speaker 3: Everything was perfect. Once he threw the third I'm like,
- 30:52Speaker 3: oh my god, it's not a force. What is he doing?
- 30:54Speaker 2: Boom got him. It was a monster play. It was gutsy.
- 30:58Speaker 2: It was ballsy and it worked perfect. The bunt was great.
- 31:03Speaker 2: You can't blame him for bunting a third base. That's
- 31:05Speaker 2: what you're taught to do. You want the third basement
- 31:06Speaker 2: a crash because nobody's ever at third base unless it's
- 31:10Speaker 2: a tie game first and second and you're trying to
- 31:12Speaker 2: get the out of third. Phenomenal job. And this is
- 31:15Speaker 2: why this is a World Series caliber team. They've done
- 31:18Speaker 2: it before and they took a chance. Guess what what happens?
- 31:22Speaker 2: They don't get the guy out a third Oh boy,
- 31:24Speaker 2: they could tie the game and then you go to
- 31:26Speaker 2: extra innings. Whatever phenomenal play. As a third baseman, I
- 31:30Speaker 2: get goosebumps. I get fired up for because it never works,
- 31:34Speaker 2: and that worked and it wasn't even a forced play.
- 31:36Speaker 4: And they have to in this situation. We know that
- 31:39Speaker 4: Mookie called it. He's got to know his personnel. Because
- 31:43Speaker 4: the best bunt play with a runner on second, whether
- 31:45Speaker 4: the first or second or runner on second, it's the
- 31:47Speaker 4: bunt play that we use all the time when I
- 31:50Speaker 4: coach high school is I want the pitcher to crash
- 31:54Speaker 4: the third baseline. The picture has to be athletic, The
- 31:57Speaker 4: pitcher has to be trustworthy, but he has to crash
- 31:59Speaker 4: the third baseline hard Brian Butterfield came up with this.
- 32:04Speaker 4: Third baseman stays home shortstop, I mean the shortstop cover second.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Second baseman goes to first. First basement basically covers the mound,
- 32:13Speaker 4: and you're leaving first base vacant. Because of what Todd said,
- 32:16Speaker 4: you bunt the ball to third. If the first baseman's
- 32:20Speaker 4: crashing the mound and the pitcher's crashing the third baseline,
- 32:23Speaker 4: you're making the pitcher pick that up. They ran it
- 32:26Speaker 4: opposite where Vessia really wasn't even going to be in
- 32:28Speaker 4: this play. Taking the ball out of the pitcher's hand
- 32:32Speaker 4: is genius. I think what's overshadowed here because MOOKI called
- 32:37Speaker 4: to play. Mookie did a great job at disguising it
- 32:39Speaker 4: and making up two steps on Castianos who didn't have
- 32:43Speaker 4: a jump, is how hard that play is for Max
- 32:46Speaker 4: Munsey to come running in plant and turn and fire it.
- 32:51Speaker 4: Todd knows there's plenty of times when you run this
- 32:54Speaker 4: drill and that ball's bunted where stop bunted it. I'm waiting.
- 32:59Speaker 4: I'm waiting until Edmund or whoever was playing second at
- 33:02Speaker 4: that time, gets the first and I just get the
- 33:05Speaker 4: out at first. We're good, nothing hurt. We're just gonna
- 33:08Speaker 4: stay away from a sack fly with a run on
- 33:10Speaker 4: a third.
- 33:12Speaker 1: We have Max Munty talking about this, so I think
- 33:15Speaker 1: it's worth the thirty seconds here. It is.
- 33:18Speaker 5: You know, wheel play is not something with that we
- 33:19Speaker 5: traditionally do. But as soon as as soon as we
- 33:23Speaker 5: got in that situation, me move and Tommy immediately started
- 33:25Speaker 5: talking about, hey, we gotta we gotta try something different here.
- 33:28Speaker 5: We can't just play standard bump play. And when when
- 33:30Speaker 5: that came out made the pitching change, we talked to
- 33:31Speaker 5: him about it and he was all on on board,
- 33:33Speaker 5: and you know, I'm gonna credit Mook.
- 33:35Speaker 3: It was it was his idea.
- 33:36Speaker 1: We got to go.
- 33:36Speaker 5: You know, he's saying, we gotta go wheel player. We
- 33:38Speaker 5: got to wheelay, And so we talked about how we
- 33:39Speaker 5: were gonna do it, and uh, you know, we we
- 33:41Speaker 5: get executed it to perfection.
- 33:42Speaker 2: How big could you feel the momentum change getting that
- 33:45Speaker 2: out at third base?
- 33:46Speaker 5: Yeah, it's huge. You know, you get that, you get
- 33:49Speaker 5: that guy off second base, you get it out there,
- 33:50Speaker 5: and you know it's just that that changes everything in
- 33:53Speaker 5: that ning.
- 33:56Speaker 1: That took me back to like, I don't know when
- 33:58Speaker 1: you're when you're playing whatever sport you're playing, and there's
- 34:01Speaker 1: that one guy who's like, oh, we got to do
- 34:02Speaker 1: something different. We gotta do the wheel play. Guys, we
- 34:05Speaker 1: gotta do the wheel play. And you're like, I don't know, man,
- 34:09Speaker 1: a little dicey. It's just like, damn, he hasn't been
- 34:12Speaker 1: a shortstop for very long either. He's been doing this
- 34:15Speaker 1: his whole white athlete. Yeah, freaking athlete. That's cool. That's
- 34:19Speaker 1: why you bring on winning players. I mean, obviously the
- 34:22Speaker 1: Dodgers have a lot of money and resources, but so
- 34:25Speaker 1: do many other teams, and they seem to be in
- 34:26Speaker 1: these spots over and over again.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Before you call, tell me I'm wrong. Here was did
- 34:33Speaker 2: it seem like it was home field advantage there?
- 34:35Speaker 3: Man?
- 34:35Speaker 2: I felt like just by looking at some of the
- 34:37Speaker 2: bats swarbur and and Harper, it just seemed like they're swinging.
- 34:41Speaker 2: They were trying to hit a you know, eight run
- 34:43Speaker 2: homer instead of just trying to drive the ball. The
- 34:44Speaker 2: opposite way. To me, I felt like if they weren't going,
- 34:48Speaker 2: the crowd wasn't in it as much.
- 34:51Speaker 4: I mean, if they weren't going, no, no, You're right.
- 34:53Speaker 4: If they weren't going the crowd wasn't in it. Philly
- 34:55Speaker 4: Philly fans are definitely They're not fair weather because they
- 34:59Speaker 4: love their team. But if it ain't going well, they're
- 35:02Speaker 4: not going to be like everybody, here's the turner, the
- 35:04Speaker 4: Trey Turner, like standing ovation, no, no, no, no, like
- 35:08Speaker 4: this is postseason. The fans are panicked. Is it the Philly?
- 35:13Speaker 4: Are the Phillies panicked? I don't think they're panicked. I
- 35:15Speaker 4: think they're trying to do the same thing that they've
- 35:17Speaker 4: done all year. I think they've run into some brutal pitching.
- 35:20Speaker 4: And I agree with bunting there. And I want to
- 35:23Speaker 4: know if Topper called it because they brought Invader to
- 35:30Speaker 4: pinch hit. So if you're bringing invader to pinch hit,
- 35:33Speaker 4: is he a home run guy? Is he driving the
- 35:35Speaker 4: ball with a runner on second to be able to
- 35:37Speaker 4: score a guy? I don't know. I agree with the bunt.
- 35:41Speaker 4: You are giving yourself so many more chances of scoring
- 35:45Speaker 4: a runner from third than you are from second. You
- 35:49Speaker 4: have to get a hit. How many hits did they
- 35:50Speaker 4: have at that point, especially coming off the bench. It's
- 35:54Speaker 4: to me, it's to me, it's a no brainer.
- 35:56Speaker 2: On the bunt, I think so you had the right
- 36:02Speaker 2: person doing it. He didn't do anything wrong. He bunted
- 36:04Speaker 2: at the perfect time. Maybe if you saw him crashing
- 36:07Speaker 2: a little bit more, you come back and slash. But
- 36:10Speaker 2: at the same token, it's the playoffs. Everything's gonna be
- 36:12Speaker 2: blown up more. They just made better execution. You tip
- 36:16Speaker 2: your cap and you're like, shoot, what could have done different?
- 36:19Speaker 3: Nothing.
- 36:20Speaker 2: They made an executional play and they did it to perfection.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Do you think the Phillies have a chance, I mean
- 36:26Speaker 1: they No.
- 36:26Speaker 3: I don't think they do. I don't.
- 36:29Speaker 2: I think the Dodgers are just playing out of their
- 36:33Speaker 2: minds right now. And it's playoff baseball, which they've been doing,
- 36:36Speaker 2: so I shouldn't say they don't have a chance.
- 36:38Speaker 3: But it's not. It's not going to be.
- 36:40Speaker 2: It's going to be very hard for them to come
- 36:42Speaker 2: back to Philly and get another win.
- 36:45Speaker 4: I would say the Phillies have a chance because of
- 36:48Speaker 4: how we thought they were gonna win the series anyway.
- 36:51Speaker 4: They have really good pitching. Their pitching isn't gonna decline.
- 36:54Speaker 4: The Dodgers have only scored in one inning, the seventh
- 36:58Speaker 4: inning in Game one. Everything in Game two so they've
- 37:01Speaker 4: done a good job of keeping them off the basis,
- 37:05Speaker 4: but it's not going to happen at all for Philly
- 37:07Speaker 4: if it doesn't come from postseason legends like Kyle Schwarber,
- 37:13Speaker 4: Bryce Harper, guys who have had those big moments and
- 37:17Speaker 4: can carry their team. If you can't keep those two
- 37:21Speaker 4: guys off the bases, the Dodgers will not win if
- 37:24Speaker 4: they continue to do what they're doing. Game three is
- 37:27Speaker 4: going to be a cinch for him.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Kratz last thought here looking back, is there anything that
- 37:32Speaker 1: you would have done differently as far as deploying your
- 37:35Speaker 1: pitching staff Rangers. Suarez is going to piggyback Aaron Nolan
- 37:39Speaker 1: game three. He's been a big game pitcher for them,
- 37:42Speaker 1: and then also Durand pitching late in this game when
- 37:45Speaker 1: they were already trailing by quite a bit. Would you
- 37:48Speaker 1: be super ballsy and try and pitch them to just
- 37:50Speaker 1: keep the score the way it is, like, give me
- 37:53Speaker 1: anything that you would have done, And I know it's
- 37:55Speaker 1: easy to look back that maybe is a little bit
- 37:57Speaker 1: less traditional than what was going on here.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Change you mean changing what they've already done or what
- 38:03Speaker 4: they're going forward and going to do going forward? If
- 38:08Speaker 4: you think Aaron, Nola and Ranger Suarez combined have to
- 38:12Speaker 4: give you six innings. I love starting Nola because you
- 38:16Speaker 4: can't go Ranger and an elimination game. You get any
- 38:20Speaker 4: kind of traffic and go poop. No, nope, we're done,
- 38:23Speaker 4: We're done. We're done. Nola's gonna pick up the rest
- 38:25Speaker 4: of the innings. Nola's the wild card.
- 38:27Speaker 5: To me.
- 38:28Speaker 4: Nola comes out, he gets one or two guys on Bang,
- 38:32Speaker 4: you might go right to You might go right to Kirkering,
- 38:35Speaker 4: you might go right to Strom in that first inning,
- 38:38Speaker 4: and it will be something that Nola could give you four.
- 38:43Speaker 4: But Nola's biggest problem has been he's had one blow
- 38:47Speaker 4: up inning. Is that inn't going to be the first
- 38:49Speaker 4: inning and then the Phillies are down three to nothing.
- 38:53Speaker 4: That's the risk that you take. But to me, I
- 38:55Speaker 4: think you take Nola first and then you go Ranger
- 38:58Speaker 4: and Duran. He's gonna give innings. It might be the
- 39:01Speaker 4: seventh and eighth because he might have to face his
- 39:05Speaker 4: pocket during that time, and then they're gonna get another
- 39:08Speaker 4: inning and they're gonna figure out who's gonna close it out.
- 39:10Speaker 4: It might not be somebody, it might not be somebody
- 39:12Speaker 4: you think that's gonna close the game out if the
- 39:14Speaker 4: Phillies are winning.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Let's talk about Craig Breslow. At his exit press conference,
- 39:20Speaker 1: he said, quote, We've talked a lot about how this
- 39:22Speaker 1: window of contention is upon us. Other quotes, every team
- 39:27Speaker 1: gets better if you can bring in a starter or
- 39:28Speaker 1: develop a starting pitcher. He can pitch at Crochet's level.
- 39:31Speaker 1: Talking about wanting to get another start of this offseason,
- 39:33Speaker 1: They're going to be as aggressive as they can to
- 39:36Speaker 1: try to chase that down.
- 39:39Speaker 3: And you can say it, spit all you want, great, We.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Just want to know about the throttle.
- 39:46Speaker 4: We just want to do the best we can because
- 39:48Speaker 4: we have a team that can win. If I'm the
- 39:51Speaker 4: Red Sox and I just or if I'm a Red
- 39:52Speaker 4: Sox fan and I just got Craig breslo in after
- 39:55Speaker 4: having clearly hein Bloom has done what he's done and
- 40:00Speaker 4: he's kind of built this team, I want to hear
- 40:03Speaker 4: Craig Brusli go, We're gonna bring a winning team to
- 40:07Speaker 4: this city World Series or bust for me. I'm willing
- 40:11Speaker 4: to put my name on the line, and I hope
- 40:12Speaker 4: everybody in the organization front off or front office players.
- 40:16Speaker 4: Everything gets in line. Because I'm the one that leads
- 40:20Speaker 4: this charge. I have backing from ownership. They're gonna make
- 40:24Speaker 4: me spend They're gonna get me to spend money. We're
- 40:27Speaker 4: gonna do this. The World Series is ours.
- 40:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's for GM crats, for GM fratz. I'm coming
- 40:38Speaker 2: with you too.
- 40:38Speaker 3: Let's go.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Yeah. I mean no, listen, Steve.
- 40:41Speaker 3: Cohen did it and failed.
- 40:43Speaker 1: That's true.
- 40:43Speaker 3: That's a guy that put it to all the chips
- 40:45Speaker 3: in and failed.
- 40:46Speaker 2: He's gonna be the talk for years to come until
- 40:49Speaker 2: they get back into playoffs and do some sort of dam.
- 40:52Speaker 1: But they also have a weird approach on starting pitchers
- 40:54Speaker 1: right now with free agency. Right you're a big money team,
- 40:57Speaker 1: and then you're like, I want to dance around starters
- 41:00Speaker 1: because I don't believe in the big boys. Problem. That
- 41:03Speaker 1: is a problem. That's that's that's a foundational issue issue
- 41:07Speaker 1: that they have right now. Right that's coming from their
- 41:10Speaker 1: president of Baseball Operations. And you might have to change that.
- 41:13Speaker 3: You're going to have to because you're.
- 41:15Speaker 1: Gonna spend on everything else. And then you're like, you're
- 41:17Speaker 1: gonna take lottery ticket risks right with our pitchers and
- 41:20Speaker 1: hopefully that works out.
- 41:22Speaker 3: You know, and Peter Lions is not coming back anytime soon.
- 41:25Speaker 1: So look at the Yankees. So they got Max Freed.
- 41:29Speaker 1: The Yanks got Max Freed, and someone came out recently
- 41:32Speaker 1: and said the next option for them was Griffin Canning.
- 41:35Speaker 1: I mean, Gryffin Canning had a nice month and change
- 41:37Speaker 1: and got hurt with the Mets. Look at the difference there, huge.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Where are the Yankees without Max Freed this year?
- 41:43Speaker 3: It's trouble.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Hey, we've got a postgame show. It's the Mariners and
- 41:57Speaker 1: Tigers facing off for Games three. We'll see you after
- 42:01Speaker 1: that one and we'll talk about what happened. And then
- 42:05Speaker 1: after the Yankees match up with the Blue Jays. Derek
- 42:09Speaker 1: Lewandowski's Pinstripe Territory is the spot. Even if you're a
- 42:12Speaker 1: Blue Jays fan and you're watching right now, I mean,
- 42:15Speaker 1: you clearly don't like the Yankees. Are you gonna be
- 42:16Speaker 1: on that one? Why are you pointing out your sol?
- 42:18Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 42:19Speaker 1: Oh okay, I didn't know that. Eric Kratton Pinstripe Territory
- 42:24Speaker 1: tonight to either pump up Yankee fans after a big
- 42:28Speaker 1: Game three win to vault themselves back into the series
- 42:31Speaker 1: or to put them to bed for the twenty twenty
- 42:34Speaker 1: five season and Blue Jays fens will be tuning in
- 42:37Speaker 1: at that point. It's part of the FT Network. Go
- 42:39Speaker 1: check it out. Krats hats, What are you wearing today?
- 42:43Speaker 4: I mean, I've been wearing it for days and honestly
- 42:45Speaker 4: it's hard to see, but it's the Uh it's a
- 42:48Speaker 4: players Weekend hat. You see the different logo that they
- 42:52Speaker 4: use for Players Weekend. They used to do fun stuff
- 42:54Speaker 4: for Players Weekend. What is my Brewers hat to me?
- 42:57Speaker 4: I don't think there's a hotter team blue Jays right now,
- 43:01Speaker 4: and I didn't pull the Blue Jays hat out.
- 43:03Speaker 2: So will you get a ring if one of those
- 43:06Speaker 2: teams win? For what you're just you're just in love
- 43:12Speaker 2: with them, and I just think you should get a ring.
- 43:15Speaker 4: Eight of the ten eight of the ten teams that
- 43:18Speaker 4: were in the playoffs, or ten of the twelve teams
- 43:21Speaker 4: I played for. So I really have a lot of homerism.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Either every game you have a homerism.
- 43:30Speaker 4: Except for the Dodgers Dodgers Reds, I didn't have a
- 43:32Speaker 4: I didn't have a dog in the fight, but everybody
- 43:34Speaker 4: knew who was going to win that game. That series
- 43:36Speaker 4: was over before it started. Oh sorry, sorry, Tom.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I mean there was one inning per night where it
- 43:44Speaker 1: felt a little tight and that was it.
- 43:47Speaker 4: That was when they brought their bullpen in. That was
- 43:49Speaker 4: that was when the Dodgers brought their bullpen.
- 43:50Speaker 1: In and kind of treated it like spring training where
- 43:54Speaker 1: they were trying were like, nope, still can't throw, Nope,
- 43:57Speaker 1: can't throw strikes. Yeah, we're gonna go with our crazy plan.
- 43:59Speaker 3: That actually was for them.
- 44:00Speaker 2: It was yeah, learning really think about it, learning curve
- 44:04Speaker 2: of who's got the coon is the pitching big game.
- 44:07Speaker 1: You don't want to do the Wildcard series because you
- 44:09Speaker 1: could get bounced. But if you do an you're the Dodgers.
- 44:11Speaker 1: They did kind of figure some things out and say, yup,
- 44:14Speaker 1: out of the circle of trust. You're out of the
- 44:16Speaker 1: circle of trust. Okay, Roki Sazaki's our new closer. Things
- 44:20Speaker 1: did change a little bit there.
- 44:23Speaker 4: Just just a little rehab. They rehabbed against the Reds.
- 44:28Speaker 1: We have, Hey, it happens. We have Dan Wilson on
- 44:33Speaker 1: the chess match with aj Hinch and the aldsh the
- 44:38Speaker 1: first full season for Wilson managing the Mariners, he said, quote,
- 44:41Speaker 1: I don't know how to play chess. So I don't
- 44:43Speaker 1: know how to use that as a metaphor, but he's
- 44:45Speaker 1: right there on every move. There's an experience different tier
- 44:50Speaker 1: ajsment managing for a minute now, Dan's new to the party.
- 44:54Speaker 1: He's a longtime big league catcher and he's been in
- 44:56Speaker 1: organizations for a while. They love him out there, but
- 45:00Speaker 1: there is a difference in experience, in postseason experience between
- 45:04Speaker 1: these two.
- 45:04Speaker 3: No doubt.
- 45:05Speaker 2: He might he might not be playing chess, but he
- 45:07Speaker 2: knows his team and understands their capabilities. He knows his
- 45:10Speaker 2: pitching staff, and that doesn't mean he has to be
- 45:12Speaker 2: a wizard of putting the right guy in at the
- 45:15Speaker 2: right time. Just be a manager and be yourself.
- 45:17Speaker 3: That's it.
- 45:18Speaker 1: There's less for him to do. To the Tigers roster.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Yeah, build the structured.
- 45:22Speaker 1: By Scott Harris, the president of Baseball opposite GM whatever
- 45:25Speaker 1: he is, Kratz to have all of these subs, like,
- 45:28Speaker 1: there's just a lot more going on with the entire
- 45:31Speaker 1: organizational strategy. The Mariners have a lot more. Hey, this
- 45:33Speaker 1: is our guy. He's playing every day.
- 45:35Speaker 4: Dan Wilson's like Col Roley, JP Crawford, Julio Rodriguez. Hey, HENNYO. Suarez,
- 45:41Speaker 4: JP Crawford, You're gonna hit nine, Go play short stop,
- 45:43Speaker 4: Let's go boys.
- 45:44Speaker 3: Wait.
- 45:45Speaker 1: In the game, BETMGM players will receive an MLB postseason
- 45:53Speaker 1: odds Boost token. You can get that in your bet
