- 0:07On Sunday, October 23, 1977, the Cleveland Browns faced the Buffalo Bills at Rich Stadium in Buffalo for Week 6 of the 1977 NFL season.
- 0:17The game featured two elite running backs, 1000-yard rusher Greg Pruitt for the Browns and the juice, OJ Simpson, which would be his last season in Buffalo.
- 0:26The Browns were coached by Forrest Gregg and the Bills were coached by Jim Ringo in his first full season after replacing legend Lou Saban.
- 0:33This audio recording is from the radio broadcast featuring announcers Gibbs Shanley and Jim Mueller.
- 0:38The Buffalo Bills, and this is prior to the coin toss, but starting in quarterback today for the Bills will be Joe Ferguson, and in his backfield he will have with him Jim Braxton, the fullback in his sixth year out of West Virginia.
- 0:51And of course, a ninth-year man from USC, OJ Simpson, will be at the halfback. The wide receivers, Lou Ficone and Bob Chandler, the tight end is Paul Seymour.
- 1:01The tackles on the right side, Joe Devlin on the left, Dave Foley, former Ohio State star, guards Reggie McKenzie, OJ's main man on the left side and Joe de Lommelier on the right side.
- 1:11It is fifth year out of Michigan State. The center is Willie Parker, a fifth year man from North Texas State.
- 1:16For the Cleveland Browns, defensively today, they'll line up this way. At the end will be Mack Mitchell and Joe Jones.
- 1:25Earl Edwards will be the tackle on the left side, and moving in to Bill Devois, left by Mickey Sims' knee injury.
- 1:31On the right side, Mike St. Clair moves from right end to right tackle. The linebackers today on the left will be Charlie Hall, in the middle, Dick Ambrose, and on the right, Gerald Irons.
- 1:41The cornerbacks, Oliver Davis on the right side, and the left, Claire and Scott. The free safety is Tom Darden and the strong safety, Tony Peters.
- 1:48That's the way they'll line up this afternoon.
- 1:50Doug Deacon, Claire, Scott, and Greg Pruitt, now the team co-captains, making their way out into the center of the field.
- 1:57And we'll have the coin toss from the referee momentarily, as we told you just a moment ago. It's a beautiful day for football here in Buffalo.
- 2:05A little bit on the cool side, some wind blowing, not too much.
- 2:10And the Cleveland Browns have won and elected to receive. They will be moving from our left to our right as we get underway with this football game.
- 2:22That is, as you look at your radio. 52 to look at your radio.
- 2:30Bill's come into the contest, as we said, with a 1-4 record this season. They won their first game.
- 2:35Matter of fact, snapping a 14-game losing streak last Sunday when they beat the Atlanta Falcons on a field goal, 3-0.
- 2:43And the young man who kicked that field goal is no longer with this ball club. He was cut two days later.
- 2:49It was Jim Ringo, the head coach of the Buffalo Bills, his first victory.
- 2:58The man who does the kicking for Buffalo is Carson Long. He is a free agent that was signed to replace the young man who was cut.
- 3:09He's out of the University of Pittsburgh. He's taking it up and kicking off two to Browns.
- 3:19And they will be sending back deep, Brian Duncan on the far side and Kenny Ellis on the near side.
- 3:29Long is seeing the ball up now and here once again, the call to play-by-play for you, the voice of the Cleveland Browns, Jim Chandler.
- 3:35Thank you, Jim Mueller, and good afternoon, everybody. A bit chilly in Buffalo.
- 3:39It's fine for the people sitting in the sun and the game is not sold out this afternoon.
- 3:44Long is the ball teed up. The approach. The ball game is underway. Well hit.
- 3:51Duncan at the 2. Comes in the middle of the 5. Left side line is 15 to the 20. It's the 25.
- 3:57And is hit hard as he tries to get some ground, he gets nailed back out about the 20 yard line and it'll be Shane Nelson.
- 4:08Backup linebacker. Today, normally a backup linebacker. A rookie starting today on the left side.
- 4:15The ball is right at the 20 yard line.
- 4:28Browns out of the huddle. Good is starting at half-back today. Rucker flank to the right. Warfield split left.
- 4:34The ball is right. The right side of the right flat is short and it is incomplete.
- 4:38Off the hand of tight end Gary Parris.
- 4:43Gary Parris starting a tight end today. I believe that's his first start of the season.
- 4:48He took about three steps straight and then cut toward the side lines and Brian threw down around his ankles.
- 4:59Second and ten. Rucker is split about seven to the right and Warfield flank to the right.
- 5:06Parris tight at left end. Warfield in motion to the left. Pitched to Pruitt. Darrell blocking.
- 5:11Turns the corner 25, 26 and written out of bounds. At about the 26 yard line, Barry Darrell got one of the bills hard.
- 5:19He helped take out another one but the third one arrived and that is Mario Clark, the left corner, the left cornerback who made the tackle.
- 5:26Well that play Warfield went in motion opposite the blow of the play and simply took about three or four steps
- 5:31and then cut back to form some of the screen for Pruitt to turn that corner.
- 5:35Picked up six yards. Brings up third down and four.
- 5:40And the bills put in their fifth defensive back to prevent defense.
- 5:46Warfield split left. Rucker split to the right and Parris slot left goes in motion to the left.
- 5:52Sight to throw. Pressure on him. Sherman White got him down.
- 5:57And lost the 13 yard line. Mark at the 14.
- 6:02Nick at the 13 again.
- 6:06Brock out the middle linebacker was in there on the blitz along with Sherman White.
- 6:10That defensive end where they obtained last year from Cincinnati.
- 6:14And the Browns will give up the football for the first time today.
- 6:20And the White team will give up the ball.
- 6:25And the White team will give up the ball.
- 6:30Coleman standing in the end zone.
- 6:35Kimbrough and Moody are deep. And as the line drives kick off the right side of his foot, hits out on the 38,
- 6:4043, 45, rolling to the 47 yard line, to the 49 yard line, and it rolls dead.
- 6:47Not a good kick, but it got a little bit of a roll out to help him on the play.
- 6:51He shanked that one off the right side of his foot, but the bills get great field possession on the Cleveland 49 yard line
- 6:57for their first possession.
- 7:07Burgers in the quarterback. Simpson and Braxton the running backs Chandler.
- 7:11And Pacoan of the wide receivers and Seymour as the tight end.
- 7:15Pacoan will be split to the left. Chandler flanked to the right. Seymour tighted right and lined up in the eye formation.
- 7:21The tail back is O.J. Simpson.
- 7:25Burgerson takes the handoff to throw. He's hit. He runs up the middle of the 50.
- 7:3145, 40, 30, 25, 20, 15, 10 out of the 8 yard line, 1 or 1 by quarterback Joe Burgerson.
- 7:42Tony Peters rolled it out of bounds.
- 7:46Looks like he was going to be hit from sack, but he managed to find an opening right up the middle, almost like a quarterback delay.
- 7:53And he hit it for the near sideline and took off on a 41 yard scamper for the bills.
- 7:58Very quickly, our in scoring position at the Browns 8 yard line.
- 8:04They've taken Pacoan out of the ball game and I believe they've added a second tight end.
- 8:10We'll jump a couple checkups when they come out of the huddle.
- 8:13And Seymour and Ganda the tight end. They line up in the eye formation. Chandler is the flanker to the left.
- 8:24Give to O.J. Simpson right back 05, 4, down on about the 4 yard line.
- 8:32Earl Edwards.
- 8:40That run by Burgerson of 41 yards is the longest gain of the year on the ground for the bills. 41 yards.
- 8:47Ball down to Cleveland 4.
- 8:51Second and goal to go.
- 8:54First threat of the ball game. Ball on the 4. Braxton now lines up as a wing back to the right.
- 9:03Pitch to Simpson. Right tackle. Hit at the 5 and down. Ambrose is the first man to hit him.
- 9:12And Charlie Hall. Lost of the yard. Third and goal with the 5 yard line.
- 9:25Now they started to take Pacoan out of the ball game and they send him back in.
- 9:29So they're pulling out the other tight end camp. Going with a regular line up. Chandler and Pacoan the wide receivers.
- 9:36They're rolling out. Maybe. Roll out pass.
- 9:42Chandler flank left. Pacoan split about 5 to the left. See more tight end right end. They're in the tee.
- 9:47Fake handoff. Chandler. Burgerson throwing intercepts up on the 1 yard line.
- 9:52Up to the 10. The 15 gardens. 20, 40, 50. Now out of the 50 yard line.
- 9:58Interception on the 1 yard line by Todd Darden. Second game in a row. He's done it.
- 10:05Burgerson was going after OJ Saxon who had come out of the backfield heading for the corner but Darden picked it off.
- 10:11There's an official fan out on the field to score. The brown's nothing. The bill's nothing.
- 10:22Ondecker. Ondecker beer. You may not be drinking it now but you will. Ondecker. You may not think a beer this expensive could be worth the extra money.
- 10:35But you will. Ondecker. Brewed with a special rich malt. Play of it with the finest of imported choice hops. Patiently, properly aged.
- 10:48You don't know what a difference that makes. But you will. Ondecker. The most expensive tasting beer.
- 10:58If you're not drinking it now, you will. Ondecker. The most expensive tasting beer.
- 11:21All the browns have the ball for the second time now following Tom Darden's interception right at the goal line. He returned it to the 50.
- 11:28Officially he'll get a 49 yard return out of it. He stepped right in front of OJ Saxon, the intended receiver in the end zone, picked it off and returned it to midfield.
- 11:37So Joe Burgerson's first pass this afternoon. Intercepted by Tom Darden and the Browns are back in business at midfield first and 10. No score.
- 11:47The ball in the 49 lost the yard on the turnover. Rucker slot left, Warfield split to the left. Also slot left.
- 11:55He's true of it. He's emotional to the right. Give to Cleo Miller over right tackle.
- 11:59What a remind. He is at the 45. I don't know how he got through that pile up and got down to the 42 yard line. I couldn't even find him.
- 12:06That was amazing. He was tackled. It looked like I was going down under the pile. The pile went down and somehow Cleo Miller came out of it.
- 12:13Nelson the left linebacker finally hold him down. That's where the blue jerseys say where is he?
- 12:22Double slot left. Rucker both to the left. Warfield split to the left. Harris tight it by the end. Give to Pruitt.
- 12:31Left tackle. He's down to the 36. Close to the 35 yard line. And Ben Williams to the left end.
- 12:37The man who made the tackle. Ball will be spotted right at the 36 yard line at the first down. Brown's first.
- 12:4611-25 to play. First quarter no score. Bill's got down to the four yard line. And then Darden intercepted.
- 12:57Brown's out of the huddle. Harris lined up tight at left end. Warfield slot to the right. Rucker split seven to the right. There in the eye formation.
- 13:05Sightback quickly throws right sidelines. It is intercepted by Quartz to the 50. To the 45. And out of bounds of the 43 a flag on the play.
- 13:17He chuckled it or he had a touchdown. Got a flag probably a clip. He hadn't chuckled the ball. He had been in the end zone.
- 13:27There you are. Then Clark carried his man with him at time about 20 yards after intercepting the ball. It is clipping. The bills will get the ball.
- 13:35But they're going to lose 15 yards. Not from the spot of the tackle from the spot of the foul. He carried Reggie Rucker with him about 15 yards after carrying the ball.
- 13:44Rucker had him a little bit high. Fentley from the 41. But the back of the bill's 26 yard line.
- 13:52The foul is called against Tony Green. Defends the back. Well one interception apiece.
- 14:11Roy and Syp is now attempted two passes. One incomplete. One intercepted. Ferguson's only pass was intercepted. Referee just picked up the ball and put it on the 30 rather than the 26.
- 14:24Oakland leads the Jets. Seven nothing.
- 14:32Canver will be the flanker to the right. Paton splits forward to the left. Head linesman blows the whistle.
- 14:45One of the officials is down at the Buffalo bench explaining something.
- 14:56All the bills are going to go back into a huddle now. Get around to playing football in a minute. 10.59 remaining in the first quarter. No score.
- 15:07Each team has turned the ball over once on interceptions. Paton splits forward to the left. Chandler flanked to the right. They're in the I formation.
- 15:19Give the OJ Simpson right back a little bit of 35. 40 and tripped down at about the 41. He just got knocked off balance by Tom Garvin.
- 15:29He got six yards after that as he was going down. Good for 11 in the first down.
- 15:41Paul Seymour is coming out of the ballgame. Can't. You know, tight end.
- 15:53Chandler flanked right. Paton only seven five yards split to the left. They're in the I.
- 16:02Focus and back. It's caught. Paton and he gets knocked down at the 48 yard line by Darden. Tom almost took his head off.
- 16:12That would have been Paton's fault, however, because he ducked his head while Darden was going to hit him around the shoulder. They'll mark the 47 yard line.
- 16:20Other first down.
- 16:30Chandler flanked right. Paton up five to the left. They're in the I.
- 16:38Give the Simpson going outside the end this time. 45. 40. Down about the 38 yard line.
- 16:46Let's flip for about nine. Darden again on the tackle.
- 16:50Got away from Dick Ambrose that time who tried once again a little bit of a high hit.
- 16:56O.J. Simpson is one of those backs. If you hit him high, he'll take you for a little ride.
- 17:02Can't back into tight end. The tight ends are carrying in the plays right now.
- 17:08Redskins lead the Giants three to nothing in the first quarter.
- 17:12Chandler flanked right. Paton again split five to the left. Can't tie it right in. They're in the I.
- 17:21Ferguson just throw it. Will this. 17 by Gantt to the five. Touchdown.
- 17:31All over Daly's couldn't hang out to him. 38 yards and a touchdown.
- 17:40The bells move 70 yards in four play. Ruben Gantt. The number two tight end.
- 17:52The number one in for the score. Holding the ball is Bob Chandler. Carson Long attempts the point with 8.53 to play in the first quarter.
- 18:10Dick is up. There's officials high out on the field to score the goals. Seven the ground nothing.

- 19:26They lead seven or nothing.
- 19:28They marched 70 yards following the interception
- 19:31of Brian Sykes fast.
- 19:32They went that distance in four plays
- 19:35and the big one a touchdown from Ferguson to Gantt.
- 19:38Now they'll kick off to the Browns, Ellison Duncan deep.
- 19:53Here's the approach by Long.
- 19:55A little shorter, Ellison to this one at the 13.
- 19:5920, 25, 30, it got hit hard.
- 20:03And a flag goes down.
- 20:06Maybe another clip.
- 20:08And Gilek made the tackle.
- 20:12Kenny could have gotten through that initial pile up there.
- 20:15He may have had a lot bigger return,
- 20:18but it is a clip against the Browns.
- 20:19And so the ball will go back to the 15-yard line.
- 20:33Actually, I think they'll spotted out the 16-yard line.
- 20:38Well, they did for a moment.
- 20:40They changed balls and now it's back in the 15.
- 20:43For sure, they're splitting it.
- 20:4450.
- 20:487-0 Buffalo.
- 20:49That came with 8.53 to play in the first.
- 20:51The Browns now backed up after the clip to the 15-yard line.
- 20:56Four fields clip, 7 to the left.
- 20:58Rutgers slot back to the left.
- 20:59They're in the tee.
- 21:00Rutgers starts a motion to the right.
- 21:02And off, play a Miller up the middle.
- 21:05And he's off to about the 18-yard line.
- 21:10Crackle and Nelson, the linebackers on the hip.
- 21:19Gene of three.
- 21:31Harris will be tighted right in.
- 21:32Rutgers slot left.
- 21:33Warfield splits, 7 to the left.
- 21:35Line of the tee formation.
- 21:36Rutger in motion to the right.
- 21:40Sight back the throw.
- 21:43Roses, caught by Pruitt, down immediately at the 24-yard line.
- 21:48And again, it is the middle linebacker,
- 21:50where Crackle made the tackle.
- 21:56It's going to bring up third and one.
- 22:03Brian's first completion.
- 22:06Warfield goes out of the line.
- 22:08Now Henry Shepherd will move to tight end.
- 22:12Cincinnati leads Denver, 7-0 in the first quarter.
- 22:15Johnson on the 1-yard run.
- 22:18Thanks, Pete.
- 22:19Johnson, third and one.
- 22:22They're in the eye.
- 22:22Ends are tight.
- 22:23Rutger flank right.
- 22:25Brian Seif wants time out.
- 22:33Something wrong.
- 22:34There's an official timeout on the field.
- 22:36The score, Buffalo 7, Cleveland nothing.

- 27:06Moody and Kimbrough going back in double safety.
- 27:12Drake Coleman into plunge.
- 27:14He's the first one.
- 27:24Coleman standing back at the 21.
- 27:30Low snap.
- 27:32He's got the kick away. Not a good one either.
- 27:34It's on the 35.
- 27:36Grabbed on the 29 by Kimbrough. Hit it at the 31-yard line.
- 27:38Little dangerous living.
- 27:40That's a two-yard return.
- 27:445 minutes, 17 seconds remaining in the first period.
- 27:48There's an official timeout on the field to score.
- 27:50The Bills 7 and the Browns nothing.

- 29:00Great Coleman's pump was for 36 yards.
- 29:02The two-yard return.
- 29:04The bills take over leading seven or nothing.
- 29:06517 remaining in the first quarter.
- 29:08First intent at their own 31-yard line.
- 29:10Seymour's tight at left end.
- 29:12Percom's length of the right.
- 29:14Chandler is split to the right by about five yards.
- 29:16And a tee in the backfield.
- 29:18Ferguson to throw.
- 29:20It is...
- 29:22caught.
- 29:24Good catch at the 44-yard line.
- 29:26It is Seymour.
- 29:28He cradled the ball.
- 29:30That is arms scooping the ball.
- 29:32To make it an obvious good catch.
- 29:34I'm sorry it was Chandler.
- 29:36And the nose of the ball at the 44-yard line.
- 29:38Seymour.
- 29:40Being a 13.
- 29:42Being a 13-yard day.
- 29:44Chandler is averaging 13 yards
- 29:46every time he catches the ball.
- 29:48He's flanked right and Percom's split
- 29:50five at the left. They're in the eye.
- 29:52Chandler's averaging 13 yards
- 29:54every time he catches the ball.
- 29:56He's flanked right and Percom's split
- 29:58five at the left. They're in the eye.
- 30:00He's off the inside.
- 30:02V-high.
- 30:04If the OJ Simpson
- 30:06right-packle
- 30:08gets bound by Turkey Jones at the
- 30:1045-yard line.
- 30:12He gained a yard.
- 30:18OJ didn't have himself under control
- 30:20that time.
- 30:22Oh he would not have come down.
- 30:24I mean, he is carrying the ball five
- 30:26times for 24 yards.
- 30:28Gant comes out and Seymour back in at tight end.
- 30:32Chandler, flank to the right,
- 30:36Pocombs split to the left, there in the eye.
- 30:40Go to jail in the draw, up the middle.
- 30:44Hit by Gerrall Irons and down at the 48 yard line.
- 30:48Pick up about three more.
- 30:52McMichill helped on it, get a break after the next play.
- 30:56Gant back into tight end.
- 31:003R, 8, 4A, 6.
- 31:04Obvious passing down for the Bills,
- 31:083rd and 6, about at their own 48.
- 31:123.5 minutes remaining in the first period.
- 31:16Pocombs again split to left and Chandler, flank right. Gant, tight to right end, line up at the tee.
- 31:20Third down.
- 31:24Percouss him to throw.
- 31:28Over the middle, caught by Braxton, 45.
- 31:32Pull down at about the 43 yard line.
- 31:36We pause for a station identification. This is the Cleveland Browns Football Network.
- 31:40Hi, this is John Gordon inviting you to join me every Saturday afternoon following the Ohio State game
- 31:44for Greta Phone. It's your opportunity to call in and talk about the Buckeyes.
- 31:48Greta Phone, exclusively on WBNS, Columbus.
- 31:52First and 10 buffalo on the Cleveland 43 yard line.
- 31:56Chandler flank to the right, Pocombs split 5 to the left, they're in the eye.
- 32:00Give to OJ Simpson right tackle. He's hit by Joe Jones and he is
- 32:04top. That's the 43 yard line. Turkey did a very good job of getting into the
- 32:08blocker and the ball carrier. We'll get help from Tony Peters
- 32:12up from safety.
- 32:16He unpacking the tight end. No game.
- 32:22No game on the play. Actually may have lost a
- 32:26half a yard.
- 32:30Second and 10.
- 32:34Pocombs flank to the left and Chandler split forward to the right.
- 32:38Lined up in the tee.
- 32:42Ferguson back to throw it.
- 32:46The fires batted up in the air.
- 32:50Intercepted on the 25 yard line.
- 32:54Tommy Darden again. It was deflected.
- 32:58That's his second and Darden has
- 33:02stopped another buffalo drive with some help.
- 33:06Ball marked at the 33 yard line. I don't know if a brown defender deflected that ball
- 33:10or one of the bills deflected it. There were two together.
- 33:14They have a minute 58 remaining in the first quarter. Browns with a
- 33:187-0 deficit.
- 33:22Bills have not been drawing that wall at home.
- 33:26And they must have 5, 6,
- 33:307,000 empty seats here today at least.
- 33:34Last week they had 29,000.
- 33:38They have a lot of Cleveland fans up for this one.
- 33:42We were talking to the Browns front office earlier. They said they should make this
- 33:46sort of a regional contest. They sold better than 12,000 tickets to Cleveland fans
- 33:50through the mail.
- 33:54Play them every year. Talking about maybe the
- 33:58bills dropping the Miami Dolphins from the schedule.
- 34:02Some out there could have a geographical realignment and make buffalo
- 34:06in our conference and take Houston out.
- 34:10I always thought everybody should do it geographically. Makes more sense.
- 34:14Very unusual during the time out for Bills defense for the second time in this game.
- 34:18The entire defense came to the bench to talk to the coach rather than just
- 34:22the co-captain.
- 34:26Ferguson this afternoon has completed 4 of 6 for 73 yards in a touchdown
- 34:30but he's been intercepted twice. Tommy Darden taking off both.
- 34:34He's on his own 33 yard line.
- 34:38A Rome, I'm sorry, Paris tight at left end. Warfield slot right.
- 34:42And off, Rick Pruitt left garden tackle.
- 34:46He's up to the 37 yard line and stopped by John Little.
- 34:50Those of them all at the
- 34:5437 yard line.
- 34:58Dina 4.
- 35:02Dina 4.
- 35:06Bills had to win last week for their coach. Jim Ringo said he would
- 35:10quit but they lost. He must have said it again today.
- 35:14I'm going to say if he says that every week and they respond like that they'll be alright.
- 35:18Paris a slot left. Warfield and Wrecker both split. Paris in motion to the left.
- 35:22And off, Pruitt up the middle. Rick's a tackle at the
- 35:2637 and gets hit at the 39 and stopped at about the 40 yard line
- 35:30on his full of progress.
- 35:34Cheeley, right linebacker on the tackle. Jones the safety
- 35:38helped on it. 33.
- 35:42They'll have to hit the 43 yard line and the Bills put in their preventive
- 35:46fence. They've added a defensive back.
- 35:50Both were leading the Jets by one point.
- 35:544.
- 35:58Warfield split 5 to the left. Wrecker flanked to the right. Paris
- 36:02tighted right in. Sight back to throw. He whips it.
- 36:06It is incomplete and almost intercepted on the 46
- 36:10yard line and Jennifer Paris broken up by Tony Green.
- 36:14Brian didn't see Wrecker who was open and is standing
- 36:18on the defense.
- 36:22John Kimbrough and Keith Moody going back in double safety
- 36:26to receive the punt from Greg Coleman. His first two punts were not good.
- 36:3035 and 36 yards on his first two efforts and 34
- 36:34seconds remaining in the first period.
- 36:38Olin standing on his 26.
- 36:42There's another bad one. Gets on the 39.
- 36:46Rolls up to the 40 yard line of the Bills. Granted by Larry
- 36:50Shirk. He's got this and hitting them well.
- 36:54And the Bills have pretty good field position on their own
- 36:5840 yard line with 26 seconds remaining in the first quarter. They lead by
- 37:02seven points.
- 37:0620 yards on the punt.
- 37:10Jerry Shirk is not pressed today nor is Ricky Jones.
- 37:14Ricky Sims is pressed. Quick play if they need him.
- 37:18Another right for Kona 5 on the left. See more tight
- 37:22at right end. Line up in the eye formation.
- 37:26Berkerson hands to O.J. Simpson. Right tackle 35, 40, 45.
- 37:30He's up to the 50 yard line.
- 37:34In about 10 yards.
- 37:38Tackled by Dick Ambrose.
- 37:42Not quite the first down.
- 37:46Get back in the tight end.
- 37:50Well it sure makes it easy when you
- 37:54get nine yards on that first and ten.
- 37:58Chandler blank to the right for Kona 4 to the left.
- 38:02As the gun sounds. That is the end of the first quarter
- 38:06at Buffalo with a score of the Bills 7 with the Browns nothing.
- 38:10Come on in, come on in, come on in,
- 38:14come on in, come on in, come on in,
- 38:18come on in, come on in, come on in, come on in, come on in.
- 38:22How cold finance wants you to make someone happy yourself.
- 38:26Talk to HFC about a shopper's lawn. Then get whatever it is you want.
- 38:30A snowmobile, a dishwasher, new furniture.
- 38:34When you're happy, you're happy.
- 38:38Here's a special note for football fans. The hospitality motorans having their
- 38:42families football brunch for each Ohio State home game. What could be better?
- 38:46Drive to the hospitality motor in Roff 161 West of I-71.

- 38:58And here's other great news from the hospitality motor in.
- 39:02The Charlie Pickens Trio is back playing Tuesday through Saturday with Vicki Kyle
- 39:06and other great guest stars. It all starts at 8pm at the hospitality motor in.
- 39:10When you're looking for a better way, we're the ones to turn to.
- 39:14Are we here to answer every need?
- 39:18We've got no guess, yes indeed.
- 39:22We've got a problem with your car. Don't need full confusion.
- 39:26There's a bright idea right here. Here's the right solution.
- 39:30Dear Creek Auto and Stop Park.
- 39:34We're the ones to turn to.
- 39:38In Williamsport, Ohio.
- 39:42The Bills have it. It's second and less than a yard to go.
- 39:48The ball at the 50.
- 39:50The Bills lead on a touchdown pass of 38 yards,
- 39:55following a Brian Seif Interception, Ferguson to Gantt.
- 39:59That's been the only scoring this afternoon.
- 40:01We've had three Interceptions, two by Tom Darden of the Browns.
- 40:04The cone is split five to the left, Chandler flank to the right,
- 40:10Gantt tied it right in, line of the I formation.
- 40:13Second about a foot. Braxton, let's tackle.
- 40:16Hit at the 50, probably has the first down as he leans over the line.
- 40:21Yep, first down. Seymour checking in again and tied in.
- 40:27They in Gantt alternating.
- 40:29That is Braxton's first carry in the game.
- 40:35Ferguson has carried once for 41 yards. That was on the first play from Scrimmage.
- 40:40OJ has carried the ball eight times for 36 yards.
- 40:43Braxton is a very fine blocking back. He does have a neck problem this year.
- 40:48We're in a collar today.
- 40:51The cone at five to the left, Chandler flank to the right, there in the eye.
- 40:55Back to throw it. Ferguson got time.
- 40:59Rust out to the right, going to run with it.
- 41:0150, pushed out of bounds with a 47 yard line to the Browns by Charlie Hall.
- 41:07Charlie put a little lower the boom on him, but he didn't.
- 41:11And Ferguson was heading for the stripe anyway.
- 41:14There goes Garmin, 87.
- 41:17He in him about three.
- 41:26Those leads seven-nothing.
- 41:29And threatened before they scored even.
- 41:32Interception killed their first chance.
- 41:35Gantt will be tied it right in.
- 41:39The cone split five to the left and Chandler flank to the left, there in the eye.
- 41:46Ferguson to throw it.
- 41:48Left flat, OJ flagged down, it's incomplete.
- 41:51A little behind the juice, and he couldn't hang on to the ball.
- 41:54We may have holding called against the Buffalo Bills.
- 42:01It is holding.
- 42:05And the Browns will probably accept the penalty.
- 42:08It's one of the few times so far here in the quarter where they put a lot of pressure on Ferguson.
- 42:15He had to hurry his throw and threw it behind OJ.
- 42:20But the Bills were caught holding on to play.
- 42:25Oh, they declined it.
- 42:27Balled on Joe DeLambolier.
- 42:31Browns makes a front four for this game, of course.
- 42:35Perciputated by the injury to Mickey Sims has Mike St. Clair playing it right tackle.
- 42:39Mac Mitchell is on the right end.
- 42:41Earl Edwards and Joe Jones on the left side.
- 42:44Third down, about seven and a half to go.
- 42:47Wanker to the left is Paton, Chandler splits seven to the right.
- 42:51Seymour tight at left end, they're in the tee, Ferguson back at throw.
- 42:54Joe Jones all over him.
- 42:56Closer to the right side of screen, it's incomplete to OJ Simpson because Joe Jones was over Ferguson,
- 43:01making throw up too soon and too low.
- 43:03I think he just had to get rid of the football around Jones.
- 43:07I don't think he had any receiver in mind that time.
- 43:09Luckily, OJ was out of that area in the flesh.
- 43:13Marv Bateman will punt for the first time in the raw game, Raleigh Rosie.
- 43:19Going back in single safety at the six.
- 43:3014-14, John Little, animates the tackle.
- 43:35He's playing right tackle.
- 43:44Second down in six.
- 43:48Browns have been backed up most all afternoon.
- 43:51They start this drive from the 11, previously they started from the 15.
- 43:57Lucker will be a slot to the left, also we have Miller slot left and Warfield split left.
- 44:05That's back to the right.
- 44:0720, 25, down he goes on the 20-60, bubble of all after the whistle had blown.
- 44:13Stark made the tackle.
- 44:15The official marks the ball where he went down is the first down.
- 44:18We have a flag on the play at the 19 yard line.
- 44:20We may have holding redo against the Browns.
- 44:23Well, that millified in the 11 yard game for Greg Pruitt as long as for the afternoon so far.
- 44:30There's a brilliant sign across the way saying, hello CBS, the game is on MDZ.
- 44:38That's the general manager of the CBS station over there.
- 44:42Some of them, I thought it was not fair.
- 44:47Somebody printed it for him.
- 44:50Now the penalty puts the ball back to the 8.
- 44:56Barry Darrow got trapped.
- 45:04He showed it on the replay for television. I don't know if that was holding.
- 45:08Looks like Barry was going down and the tackle moved his arm to the outside.
- 45:12They call that looking or holding whichever way you want to go with it.
- 45:15Browns second now.
- 45:17Second and about to 14.
- 45:21Sight patrol from the end zone.
- 45:23Left flat, caught by Miller.
- 45:25Can't get away, down at the 5.
- 45:28Very fine play by the safety.
- 45:30Doug Jones, he held him up till the help got there, but he did most of the damage.
- 45:37Laws of three.
- 45:39Well, we're now minus 12 in the passing department.
- 45:42A lot of the most of the minus came up on the sack of Brian Sight.
- 45:47Right of yards passing.
- 45:50Well, otherwise we'd be plus two.
- 45:54Third down.
- 46:00And 16 yards to go.
- 46:04Warfield split left.
- 46:06Left of the blank to the right.
- 46:08Harris in motion to the right.
- 46:11Sight back in the end zone.
- 46:14In the middle.
- 46:15Incomplete off-ball Warfield stands with a 20 yard line thrown behind him.
- 46:19And Paul was also over the middle.
- 46:22He was wide open, but like you say, the ball was delivered behind him.
- 46:26Another standing ovation for the Buffalo defense that pulled off a shutout last week.
- 46:32They're trying for another one.
- 46:34And now the Browns have to get this kick away.
- 46:37There probably will be a rush on because there's only a single safety, John Kimbrough at the 50.
- 46:43They'll put a rush on Coleman.
- 46:45There was that three very average kicks today.
- 46:48Well, he's averaging only 30 yards a kick on three of them, so he's going to have to come up with a good one here.
- 46:54It'll be real trouble.
- 46:5610 men on the line for the Bills.
- 46:59Kick is all right. That's a pretty good kick.
- 47:02Kimbrough on the 50.
- 47:0445. Right sidelines. 40. One out of bounds.
- 47:08On the 37 yard line.
- 47:10Flag in the end zone. We may have rushing, roughing the kicker.
- 47:14Or running into the kicker.
- 47:16Coleman did a pretty good job of acting that time.
- 47:18And if he convinced the referee, I think that's exactly what it's going to be.
- 47:21Here it is Brown bumping.
- 47:23Browns will get a first down out of it.
- 47:25It's a five yard penalty.
- 47:27It was not roughing. It was running into.
- 47:29The ball goes out to the 10, but it's an automatic first down.
- 47:32The Browns keep the ball.
- 47:34Well, then got away that time.
- 47:36He got away about a 45 yard kick, which is what he had to do.
- 47:39But right after the ball was away,
- 47:44Curtis Brown came in right up the middle and down the break called him.
- 47:49So the Browns get a break first in 10 at their own 10 yard line.
- 47:5712.08 remaining in the first half Browns trailing by seven.
- 48:02Harris tight it right in.
- 48:04Rucker is slots of the left.
- 48:07Warfield splits seven to the left.
- 48:09Get the Clio Miller up the middle.
- 48:1115. 19 yard line.
- 48:14And Clio just charges straight ahead for nine.
- 48:17Tackled by Crackle the middle linebacker and Green with safety.
- 48:26Clio is now the leading ball carrier for the Browns.
- 48:2826 yards on four carries.
- 48:32Pooitt has 24 yards on six.
- 48:38Second and one.
- 48:40Warfield again. Split left.
- 48:42Rucker slot left. Harris tight it right in.
- 48:46Rucker in motion to the right.
- 48:48Pitch to Clio Miller. Left in.
- 48:5020. 25. 30. 33 yard line.
- 48:54Well he didn't get one.
- 48:56He got 14 yards.
- 48:58Clark and Moody the corner backs to make the tackle.
- 49:02The second quarter score.
- 49:047. 7. 7.
- 49:08Well without the Eagles leading the Dallas Cowboys 7 or nothing in the second quarter.
- 49:17Michigan found out it's not safety on the field anymore.
- 49:20What's the truth?
- 49:21Warfield split left and Rucker slot to the left.
- 49:24There in the eye.
- 49:25Hand off Clio Miller right tackle a yard.
- 49:2734 and jerk down by Katesh the left tackle.
- 49:34Second and nine. The ball on the Cleveland 34 yard line.
- 49:39Katesh of course.
- 49:40Out of Notre Dame and what a day they had yesterday against Southern Cal.
- 49:43Somebody said if anybody watches that they ought to everybody ought to go to Green Jersey.
- 49:50Would you want to congratulate the Cleveland Barons.
- 49:54They won their fourth in a row last night in their home tonight at the Coliseum at 7 o'clock against Pittsburgh.
- 50:00Cavaliers lost.
- 50:04Warfield split left.
- 50:06Rucker goes in motion to the right.
- 50:08Sight back.
- 50:09Throwing deep.
- 50:10Warfield.
- 50:11He's pushed.
- 50:12He's got it there.
- 50:13He's right on the 29.
- 50:14He really got pushed by Moody.
- 50:17He knew he couldn't go after them all.
- 50:18He just gently shoved them with his left arm and the official was standing right beside him.
- 50:23That's the 28th.
- 50:25Mark of the 29.
- 50:26Paul was going to have to come back for that pass with a little bit under thrown and he had good position because he was far enough behind the receiver that he could come back and play the ball.
- 50:36And the defensive back on the play.
- 50:40Keep Moody just gave him a couple of shoves in the chest and it's pass interference and first down and the Browns are as close as they've been.
- 50:48Some play by Moody.
- 50:50All they do is look up in the air.
- 50:51He would have had the ball open.
- 50:52It would have knocked it away.
- 50:53He didn't even look for it.
- 50:54Again, Wreckerslot left.
- 50:56Warfield split left there in the eye.
- 50:58Get to Pruitt.
- 50:59Left garden tackle.
- 51:00Hits the 25 yard line and pulled down by Crackle the middle linebacker and little the right tackle.
- 51:09He knew about three.
- 51:13Brian Duncan is coming in the ball game.
- 51:20Paul Warfield is going out.
- 51:22That must be Logan.
- 51:31It is Dave Logan.
- 51:34Logan is split to the left.
- 51:35Wreckerslot to the left.
- 51:38And off on a trap of the right tackle.
- 51:40The opener only gets one yard to the 24 yard line.
- 51:43All opening closed quickly by Nelson the linebacker.
- 51:45Sherman White the left.
- 51:47The defensive end also sliced over to make the tackle.
- 51:52Third down.
- 51:54About four and a half to go.
- 51:57About six and a half to go rather.
- 52:04Bill's adding a fifth defensive back.
- 52:13Eight forty nine to play in the half.
- 52:17No more emotion to the right.
- 52:19Hits the Pruitt.
- 52:20He's going to throw it.
- 52:21He fires it.
- 52:22Open record.
- 52:23Defected just at the last second in the end zone of a beautiful defensive play.
- 52:29I flark.
- 52:33He just leaped in the air and took it away from a touchdown.
- 52:39It was a well thrown pass but like you say a beautiful move of the defensive back at the last second tipping the ball away from Rucker who was open in the end zone.
- 52:48Now we're getting a field goal attempt by Don Cockroft.
- 52:5141 yarder.
- 52:52Dave will open the little hole.
- 52:57Here's the kick.
- 52:59It's far enough.
- 53:00It is good.
- 53:0241 yards by Don Cockroft.

- 54:26Cockroft will kick off.
- 54:29The bills have one loan deep back.
- 54:33I believe that's Keith Moody.
- 54:36It is here's the approach by Cockroft.
- 54:40Moody circling under at the goal line.
- 54:445-10 left side lines 15-20.
- 54:4730, 40 and pulled out on the 44.
- 54:53Oh they're really getting returns.
- 54:57Cut through the first wave.
- 55:00Very easily.
- 55:03Ball spotted on the 45 yard line.
- 55:06Duncan made the tackle 45 yard return.
- 55:09You know Gil looking at the past series the bills the worst they've started is at their own 30.
- 55:16And that was after an interception.
- 55:18Houston leads Pittsburgh 7-0 past Perini touchdown pass.
- 55:23Second quarter looking.
- 55:26The cone is split left.
- 55:27Chandler flank left there in the eye.
- 55:30Get to OJ.
- 55:31Right tackle flagged down.
- 55:33He's hit at the 48 yard line by Charlie Hall.
- 55:37Back judge comes running up to explain what he saw.
- 55:40Ambrose is also on the tackle.
- 55:43The ball is holding against the Buffalo Bills.
- 55:53That's the three yard pickup nullified.
- 55:55They're going to pick the penalty.
- 55:57And they've just announced that keep Moody's 45 yard kickoff return is the longest of the season for the Buffalo Bills.
- 56:04So they've got a couple of firsts here.
- 56:06The holding was called against number 87.
- 56:08That's Paul Seymour the tight end.
- 56:12They've got the longest run from scrimmage of the season in this game.
- 56:16That was Joe Ferguson's 41 yard scramble in the first play.
- 56:19And now they've got the longest kick return of the season.
- 56:22First down 20.
- 56:24Chandler split right.
- 56:26The cone flank left.
- 56:27Gint tight end left end.
- 56:28They're in the tee.
- 56:30Ferguson rolls left.
- 56:32He's hit as he throws.
- 56:33It is caught by Gint by the cone at the 50.
- 56:37And he's out of bounds at the 48.
- 56:39And now Oliver Davis.
- 56:43He only got most of that one back.
- 56:45All but three.
- 56:53Eight twelve to play in the first half.
- 56:58With seven three Buffalo.
- 57:03And nine of five of nine for 90 yards.
- 57:10Paul's product closer to the 47 so he gets 18 on the play.
- 57:12Two to go.
- 57:13Second down coming.
- 57:15Time formation.
- 57:19Ferguson gives the OJ Simpson right tackle.
- 57:21Charlie Hall it's incredible.
- 57:24I believe.
- 57:25I think Mac Mitchell has it in the 41 yard line.
- 57:28Charlie Hall's jerked the ball out of his arms on the tackle.
- 57:32Let's see if we have one of those fast whistles that we've had this season.
- 57:37No way that place should have been blown dead.
- 57:39Now he wasn't even near the ground when the ball popped loose.
- 57:42It's the Browns ball.
- 57:44And Mac Mitchell has it.
- 57:47He wasn't even close to being down.
- 57:49He was still trying to run when the ball was pulled out.
- 57:53They're marking on the 42 yard line of the Browns.
- 58:01Orfield back in at wide receiver.
- 58:08Orfield is flanked to the left.
- 58:14Rutger is split by the right line of in the tee.
- 58:19His back the throw.
- 58:22He throws as he did this one's intercepted on the 35 yard line of the Buffalo Bills.
- 58:27I get a number tomon and he's jerked down immediately by Paris.
- 58:30by Paris, it is Tony Green.
- 58:33Sight was it, that's why the ball did not go on the target.
- 58:36Katie threw it all over Brian Sight,
- 58:38so the turnover and the Bills get the ball right back.
- 58:41There's an official timeout on the field with the score,
- 58:44the Bills seven and the Browns three.
- 58:47Do you remember last winter?

- 1:00:02Gantt is the tight end on the right side.
- 1:00:04Paton is split forward to the left.
- 1:00:06Chandler flanked to the right there in the eye.
- 1:00:08This will be the first play after the interception.
- 1:00:14They can't off, Ferguson is hit by Joe Jones,
- 1:00:16still on his feet, throws it.
- 1:00:19At the Browns 40 yard line.
- 1:00:22It is Bob Chandler down at the 39 yard line.
- 1:00:26Joe Jones couldn't hang on to Ferguson.
- 1:00:28We had a false start by OJ, but he stopped.
- 1:00:31Had more than one second before the ball was snapped.
- 1:00:34Make it legal.
- 1:00:35Let's pause for station identification
- 1:00:37as to the Cleveland Browns football network.
- 1:00:40Hi, this is John Gordon inviting you to join me
- 1:00:42every Saturday afternoon following the Ohio State game
- 1:00:45for Greta Foam.
- 1:00:46It's your opportunity to call in
- 1:00:48and talk about the Buckeyes.
- 1:00:50Greta Foam exclusively on WVNS Columbus.
- 1:00:59The correction Gantt caught the pass.
- 1:01:04In motion, Chandler to the left.
- 1:01:07And off OJ Simpson turning right in.
- 1:01:09Hit at the line by Mack Mitchell
- 1:01:11and he is dumped for no gain at the 39.
- 1:01:14Browns are hitting OJ most of the time
- 1:01:21around the midsection, around the elbows,
- 1:01:24around the hips.
- 1:01:27Getting higher than that, you're not gonna hang on.
- 1:01:30Well, OJ is carrying the ball now 10 times for 38 yards.
- 1:01:34He has fumbled once.
- 1:01:35Mack Mitchell recovering that fumble.
- 1:01:38Browns turned right around and Brian Seif was intercepted
- 1:01:41to give the ball back to the bill.
- 1:01:45Chandler blank to the right,
- 1:01:46Pocke on out five to the left,
- 1:01:48Gantt tight at right end in the eye formation.
- 1:01:52Ferguson rolling left, he's hit as he throws.
- 1:01:54It is caught by Gantt, 35, 30, spins away, down on the 26.
- 1:02:00He's having a pretty good day.
- 1:02:02Browns are just not quite getting to Ferguson.
- 1:02:05They're around him, they hit him,
- 1:02:06but just as cracks from the second late
- 1:02:09and he's getting the passes off, first down.
- 1:02:14Back up by Oliver Davis.
- 1:02:18Stills, now of a threat going and leading seven to three.
- 1:02:22Gantt's coming out, Seymour back in his side end,
- 1:02:266.09 to play and a half.
- 1:02:28Ferguson is thrown for 128 yards and Gantt
- 1:02:31is accounted for 76 of those on three plays.
- 1:02:34Of course, the big one, the 38 yard touchdown reception.
- 1:02:39Chandler blanks to the right, Pocke on out five
- 1:02:43to the left there in the eye, Seymour tight at right end.
- 1:02:46And on Braxton in the middle to the 23.
- 1:02:50Pick up a three yards.
- 1:02:53Now we got a black drop down around the 13 yard line.
- 1:03:00Chandler was down field, blocking on Clarence Scott.
- 1:03:03We got a personal foul against the Browns.
- 1:03:07At the wrong time.
- 1:03:17Well, obviously they'll take the penalty in this situation.
- 1:03:20That's better than a three yard game.
- 1:03:22Kimbrough comes in now, wide receiver replacing Pocke on.
- 1:03:25Ball is down to the 11th.
- 1:03:31And he's already lost it.
- 1:03:33What do you call secret?
- 1:03:35It's against Tony Peters, unnecessary roughness on the play.
- 1:03:39I thought it was Clarence Scott.
- 1:03:42They were the only two down there together.
- 1:03:44However, Chandler is blank to the right and Kimbrough
- 1:03:47is split five to the left there in the eye.
- 1:03:49And off OJ Simpson, cutting around the end,
- 1:03:52hit back on about the 13 and another flag goes down.
- 1:03:55And another fumble and the tackle, the first hit.
- 1:04:00Mac Mitchell.
- 1:04:01Well, he's been falling all over the field
- 1:04:03and Tom Darden was up very quickly from safety.
- 1:04:06And the penalties against the bills.
- 1:04:12Almost as if they said Mac Mitchell, OJ is yours.
- 1:04:15And he's had a lot of trouble.
- 1:04:17He's got the officials call on it here in a minute,
- 1:04:20but it's going to go against the bills.
- 1:04:25Takes the ball back to the 21 yard line.
- 1:04:28Well, work, Joe Jones is going.
- 1:04:30He's up at the 40.
- 1:04:32Holding against Seymour again.
- 1:04:37He's coming out.
- 1:04:38He's coming out.
- 1:04:39He's coming out.
- 1:04:40He's coming out.
- 1:04:41He's coming out.
- 1:04:42He's coming out.
- 1:04:43He's coming out.
- 1:04:44He's coming out.
- 1:04:45He's coming out.
- 1:04:47Gantt is in.
- 1:04:48Not only is Gantt catching well today,
- 1:04:51but the man is alternating with us and couples,
- 1:04:53who's twice.
- 1:04:58First down and about 20, not the 21.
- 1:05:04Five and a half left and a half.
- 1:05:08The cone back in is flanked to the left.
- 1:05:10Chandler's put forward to the right.
- 1:05:12Gantt tied it left and they're in the tee.
- 1:05:16They hand off.
- 1:05:17Ferguson rolls left.
- 1:05:18He's washed these iddy pumbles.
- 1:05:20Mac Mitchell is on him and Mitchell's got it.
- 1:05:22And I think Mac, he does have the ball in the 34 yard line.
- 1:05:25Another very fine play by Mitchell
- 1:05:27in his second fumble recovery in the quarter.
- 1:05:31Well, he really charged up today.
- 1:05:33Mac Mitchell is playing one whale of a defensive football game so far.
- 1:05:37He ramped Ferguson up that time and just stripped him of the ball
- 1:05:40and then fell on it to recover his second fumble.
- 1:05:44I believe we've had six turnovers.
- 1:05:47The memory serves me correct.
- 1:05:48Two interceptions apiece, two fumbles by the bills.
- 1:05:57Bounds out of the huddle.
- 1:05:59Kraling seven to three.
- 1:06:00Warfield slot right.
- 1:06:01Rutgers split seven to the right.
- 1:06:03Lined up in the eye.
- 1:06:04Parris tied it left in.
- 1:06:05Leo Miller in the handoff.
- 1:06:07He didn't have possession of all very well.
- 1:06:08He's hit it to 35.
- 1:06:09He was trying to grab the ball wisely rather than run without it
- 1:06:13and he was hit by Williams to left end and he gets one yard.
- 1:06:25Second and nine.
- 1:06:26Brown's offense.
- 1:06:27Not doing anything here in the first half.
- 1:06:29Rutgers.
- 1:06:31Flank to the right.
- 1:06:32Warfield split to the left by five.
- 1:06:34They're in the eye.
- 1:06:35Sight to throw.
- 1:06:36Wilson.
- 1:06:37Rutgers.
- 1:06:38Got it.
- 1:06:39At the 47 of the Bills.
- 1:06:40Down to the 46 yard line.
- 1:06:42Hipped by Green.
- 1:06:43He spun away from Buck Jones.
- 1:06:44But Tony Green in the other state.
- 1:06:45He was right there.
- 1:06:46When Mario Clark that time went for the interception and missed.
- 1:06:49Reggie Rutgers holding his position.
- 1:06:51Picked up the big one.
- 1:06:53He's got a little bit of a chance.
- 1:06:55Here's Logan in and Warfield going out.
- 1:07:01428 to play in the half.
- 1:07:02The Browns trailed 7 to 3.
- 1:07:04Logan will split with the left by five.
- 1:07:06Rutgers.
- 1:07:07Flank to the right.
- 1:07:08They're in the tee.
- 1:07:09Sight rolling to the right.
- 1:07:10Whips it quickly.
- 1:07:11Caught by Paris.
- 1:07:12At the 41 and then he falls to the 40.
- 1:07:14Lost his footing after he got the ball.
- 1:07:16He's got it.
- 1:07:17He's got it.
- 1:07:18He's got it.
- 1:07:19And then he's got the ball.
- 1:07:20That one.
- 1:07:30The game of six.
- 1:07:32That pass to Rucker starts a new strength for him.
- 1:07:34He did not catch a pass last week against Houston,
- 1:07:37which snapped a 39 game streak for him,
- 1:07:40having caught at least one pass in each of his games
- 1:07:42with the Browns.
- 1:07:44He's caught one in every game he's played in the NFL
- 1:07:47with the exception of two.
- 1:07:48Both Cornell in at linebacker,
- 1:07:50former Browns fullback, now for Buffalo.
- 1:07:53And off, Rick Pruitt turns left in, 40, 35, 30, 29,
- 1:07:59out of bounds, flag.
- 1:08:01Personal foul against either Bo Cornell or Tony Green.
- 1:08:08And also could have been Jones.
- 1:08:10They were all with him knocking him out of bounds.
- 1:08:19Stepping off the penalty against the Bills
- 1:08:21to the 15-yard line.
- 1:08:30Yeah, Bo Cornell on his first play.
- 1:08:33Shame on you both.
- 1:08:36They're trying to curb violence in the NFL
- 1:08:38and they're watching them much closer than usual,
- 1:08:41as well they should.
- 1:08:43Greg picked up about 11 yards on his own before the penalty.
- 1:08:47Rucker will be split seven to the right,
- 1:08:49Logan slot to the right, Paris tied at left empty in the back,
- 1:08:52Bills 3-36 to play in the half.
- 1:08:54And off is to Rick Pruitt up over left tackle,
- 1:08:57hits down to about the 12-yard line.
- 1:09:00Dokes and Kati's on the tackle.
- 1:09:08It's on the 13.
- 1:09:11Now it's closer to the 12, so give me gain of three.
- 1:09:15Logan going out, Warfield back in.
- 1:09:20Put it up here, leading to Cowboys,
- 1:09:227-6 in the second quarter.
- 1:09:27Three minutes left in the half,
- 1:09:29Browns with their best threat of the day.
- 1:09:32And if Rucker split right and Warfield flank left,
- 1:09:37they hand off, Sightback throws the corner to Rucker,
- 1:09:40incomplete.
- 1:09:41Says he was held on the play,
- 1:09:43he is really upset and he was booked by Clark
- 1:09:46as he crossed the goal line,
- 1:09:48but apparently the officials said it was not holding,
- 1:09:50or the ball was not in the air for interference.
- 1:09:53Clark was right on him that time.
- 1:09:55I'll tell you that, he was riding his back.
- 1:09:57Now whether or not there was contact,
- 1:09:58we can't tell from this angle.
- 1:10:00Sorry his arm get hooked, but maybe enough to hold.
- 1:10:03Officials right beside the play.
- 1:10:05Here's Logan coming back in, Warfield out.
- 1:10:10Now fifth defensive back coming in now for the Bills Freeman.
- 1:10:16Going with a three man line,
- 1:10:182-49 to play in the half,
- 1:10:20third down, 7.
- 1:10:23Rucker flank to the right,
- 1:10:24Logan split out with a left-by-7,
- 1:10:26hand off, up the middle,
- 1:10:27Fielder to the pen,
- 1:10:29breaks it back up,
- 1:10:30and he's down on the left.
- 1:10:32And he couldn't go to the downfield,
- 1:10:33he was cutting toward the sidelines,
- 1:10:35Nelson and Crackle holding onto him.
- 1:10:39The bounds are going for the field goal again.
- 1:10:46People went down in about five yards to go.
- 1:10:49And if it's good, they're within a point.
- 1:10:57There's a discussion on the field at the moment.
- 1:11:02I didn't see the flag.
- 1:11:06Don Cockroft is staying out there.
- 1:11:14Brian Sight walking off,
- 1:11:15so it would indicate if there's a penalty,
- 1:11:16it gets the browns and apparently it is.
- 1:11:23Well, no penalty at all.
- 1:11:25No indication of anything.
- 1:11:29All right, 27-yard field goal attempt by Don Cockroft.
- 1:11:33Dave Logan to hold.
- 1:11:35Snap, spot, kicks up.
- 1:11:37It is good.
- 1:11:39Two minutes, 15 seconds remaining in the half.
- 1:11:41The browns are within a point of 7-6.
- 1:11:44Cockroft from the 41, and now from the 27.
- 1:11:50All the browns started that drive at the 34,
- 1:11:52following the sack of Joe Ferguson and the fumble,
- 1:11:57which was recovered by Mack Mitchell.
- 1:11:59Who accomplished both feats.
- 1:12:01They moved downfield.
- 1:12:04A 19-yard pass to Rucker, the big one,
- 1:12:06and then of course an unnecessary roughness penalty
- 1:12:11against both Cornell.
- 1:12:13Moves them even deeper down and they get a 27-yard field goal
- 1:12:16out of it to pull within 1 point at 7-6.
- 1:12:202-15 remaining in the first half.
- 1:12:24The deep back, standing on the goal line
- 1:12:26to receive the kickoff for the bills, is Keith Moody.
- 1:12:30He had a 45-yard return, his last kickoff return.
- 1:12:39Cockroft has had some trouble with the last two games,
- 1:12:41as you know, getting the kickoffs deep,
- 1:12:43but he got the last one right to the goal line,
- 1:12:45but it was offset by the 45-yard return by Moody.
- 1:12:49The approach, kick.
- 1:12:52That's taken at the 15 by Kimbrough.
- 1:12:55He's up to the 30.
- 1:12:57And down on about the 35-yard line,
- 1:13:00that kick drifted off to the right.
- 1:13:03And Oliver Davis made the tackle.
- 1:13:06The bills have pretty good field position.
- 1:13:08Mark at the 34-yard line.
- 1:13:11208 remaining in the half.
- 1:13:14Brown's defense has done a pretty good job today
- 1:13:17to intercept his two-bumble recoveries.
- 1:13:20McMichill is having a super afternoon in the first half.
- 1:13:28The bills lined up with Chandler and Splitright
- 1:13:32and Pecone, Flankright, Ferguson back.
- 1:13:36It's incomplete and almost intercepted
- 1:13:39by Clarence Scott up at the 47-yard line.
- 1:13:42He stepped right in front of Pecone.
- 1:13:45That feet have been able to hold onto the ball.
- 1:13:47He'd still be running.
- 1:13:49204 left in the half.
- 1:13:53Both quarterbacks are throwing either late
- 1:13:56on their sideline patterns
- 1:13:58or not putting enough zip behind it.
- 1:14:06Now Pecone and Chandler will line up both on the left side.
- 1:14:10In the eye formation, Seymour tighted right in.
- 1:14:15And off OJ draw.
- 1:14:19Cups around the right end hit with the 32, down at the 34-yard line.
- 1:14:22No game. Browns were all over him.
- 1:14:25Everybody followed him.
- 1:14:27Charlie Hall and Clarence Scott were out there.
- 1:14:29McMichill would drift it out to help if he was needed.
- 1:14:32If he were needed, two minutes.
- 1:14:34In the half, there's an official timeout on the field
- 1:14:37to score the bills seven to Brown six.
- 1:14:41The finish for Pat Blue Ribbon here.
- 1:14:45Everybody's looking to find what's best
- 1:14:47to do the things they do and the music they do.
- 1:14:51Change for the challenge of Pat Blue Ribbon.
- 1:14:54If you're looking for quality beer,
- 1:14:57compare out here with any other.
- 1:15:00Tire swung and you'll discover
- 1:15:03the great beer tastes we're bringing home to you.
- 1:15:09Pat Blue Ribbon, the quality always comes through.
- 1:15:14Pat challenges you to discover a better tasting premium beer.
- 1:15:18Taste and compare Pat's Blue Ribbon with the beer you're now drinking.
- 1:15:22You'll taste the difference Blue Ribbon quality makes.
- 1:15:25Because our quality means the best tasting beer money can buy.
- 1:15:29With Pat Blue Ribbon, the quality always comes through.
- 1:15:46Well, we've got two minutes left in the first half.
- 1:15:49The bills lead seven to six.
- 1:15:51And they have the ball third and ten at their own 39 yard line.
- 1:15:56Browns have gotten two field goals, one at 41 yards,
- 1:15:59one at 27 yards from Don Cockroft.
- 1:16:02The only score for the bills has been a 38 yard touchdown pass.
- 1:16:05We've Fergusoned again.
- 1:16:07That came in the first quarter.
- 1:16:09Pittsburgh is tied. Houston 7-7 in the second.
- 1:16:13Denver and Cincinnati are 10-10.
- 1:16:17There'll still be a two-way tie
- 1:16:21for the ASC Central Division lead here today
- 1:16:24between the Browns if they win this game
- 1:16:26and the winner of that Houston-Pittsburgh contest.
- 1:16:29Probably unless it winds up in a tie.
- 1:16:31And finally, we'll have somebody in the middle.
- 1:16:33Right now, so far this season, everybody's been tied for the lead or in last place.
- 1:16:38The bills have third down 11.
- 1:16:42The cone split left, Chandler Flank right, Ferguson back.
- 1:16:45He throws, it is.
- 1:16:47Drop and drop, and he picked it up again at the 49 and a good call by the official.
- 1:16:52He juggled the ball and hit the ground and bounced quickly into his arms
- 1:16:55and they were right beside him watching the play.
- 1:16:58They were not alert, they had a call. That one's complete.
- 1:17:00Good coverage by Oliver Davis.
- 1:17:02And the bills will have to punt.
- 1:17:05Raleigh Wolsey back in single safety.
- 1:17:08Of course, what I said doesn't necessarily have to happen either
- 1:17:12because if Cincinnati win today, then whoever loses
- 1:17:14his Houston-Pittsburgh game would be tied for last place with that team.
- 1:17:18It will still have top and bottom in the ASC Central.
- 1:17:21Mark Bateman to punt.
- 1:17:23Wolsey in single safety on his own 27.
- 1:17:31The couple time is down to about two seconds.
- 1:17:34They just got that one off. Here's the punt.
- 1:17:37He shanked it badly to the right.
- 1:17:40And it is around the 48 of the Browns.
- 1:17:44Not a good kick at all.
- 1:17:47The punters are not having an afternoon here, that's for sure.
- 1:17:52Ben 16 yards.
- 1:17:54Boris Breg is out talking to the head linesman of 5 yards on the field.
- 1:17:58Mark at the 48 yard line of the Browns, so they have excellent field position.
- 1:18:02With 146 to play, they have two timeouts remaining.
- 1:18:0618 yard punt.
- 1:18:12Warfield blank to the left. Parasite have left in.
- 1:18:17Rutgers flip 5 to the right. Line up in the tee. Sight to throw.
- 1:18:21He fires. It is deflected.
- 1:18:24And Cauchy Warfield 20. He's down to the 15. 10. 5. Touchdown.
- 1:18:30A Buffalo field deflected them all. Not a Browns player. It goes to the touchdown.
- 1:18:35Well, that will be a 52 yard scoring strike in the paper.
- 1:18:38It looked like a right on the target pass, although it was deflected by a Buffalo bill.
- 1:18:42They count.
- 1:19:03It's awfully close to one of the Browns touching it, but a bill just stepped in front.
- 1:19:08Bills is a 52 yarder. Cockropped on the point. Try 135. Left them to half. Here's the kick.
- 1:19:15It's good. And the Browns lead for the first time in the ballgame.
- 1:19:19Now by a score of 12 to 7. There's our free play of the season so far.
- 1:19:25Well, it really was. And it was just a fingertip away from being an illegal completion
- 1:19:29of the game. Of course, it cannot go from one offensive player to another.
- 1:19:34But the Buffalo bills tipped it right into the arms of Warfield who made a good move to reverse field
- 1:19:39and cut back to the near sideline and take it right into the corner of the end zone.
- 1:19:43It fall when carried out that way like you expected it.
- 1:19:4813 to 7. The Browns have the lead on a fluke play.
- 1:19:56It'll look good in the papers tomorrow. All Warfield. 52 yards and a touchdown.
- 1:20:01Keith Moody back at the 5 yard line waiting for Don Cockroff's kick.
- 1:20:06Put that in the playbook.
- 1:20:11That happened in the Super Bowl many years ago. Dallas Cowboys scored a touchdown on, I believe,
- 1:20:16against the Baltimore Colts.
- 1:20:20A lot of debate about the play and the video tape replay showed it to be a correct call.
- 1:20:24Here's the kick. He hit that one. Moody at the 4.
- 1:20:29Left sideline's 10. 15. 20. Breaks a tackle.
- 1:20:3330. Hit from behind and down on the 35 yard line.
- 1:20:38Got a flag on the play. Flipping at the 20.
- 1:20:44That'll move the ball back and nullify a long return.
- 1:20:49With a lot of clips these days of these punt and kickoffs.
- 1:20:58It's a ball back at the Buffalo Bill 10 yard line.
- 1:21:06Bo Corneligan. He's helping his former teammates.
- 1:21:09125 yards and penalties.
- 1:21:14Downs fans down in the corner over there around the 5 yard line.
- 1:21:19Bo Cornel's son is named after Doug Deacon.
- 1:21:24Deacon Cornel? No.
- 1:21:28Facone is split to the left. Flanker to the right.
- 1:21:31Chandler can't. Tied it right in. They're in the tee.
- 1:21:34Handoff OJ Simpson. Right tackle outside the end of the 15.
- 1:21:38He's to the 30. He breaks another tackle and he finally holds down at the 35 yard line.
- 1:21:45Whether they may mark it out of bounds. I feel a few more yards.
- 1:21:48Let's see. No?
- 1:21:49Take it to the 39 yard line. And they're going to put it.
- 1:21:53Well actually it's the 40. Yeah. Closer to the 40 yard line.
- 1:21:56So we have a 30 yard run.
- 1:22:00His speed and his durability carried him on that way.
- 1:22:07No. The throws are out of the hole.
- 1:22:1159 seconds to play in the half.
- 1:22:15Chandler, Flankler, Facone split to the left. They're in the tee again.
- 1:22:19Ferguson to throw. He's hit. Throws.
- 1:22:23Interference against Dick Ambrose. Good call.
- 1:22:27No. We had 0-9 in the line.
- 1:22:29At the 49 yard line. He and Ambrose were both going after.
- 1:22:34Again. Ambrose went over the shoulder. They'll mark it at the 50 yard line.
- 1:22:40Yep. Fire.
- 1:22:45First down.
- 1:22:4947 seconds left of the half.
- 1:22:55You've had a good amount of penalties in this first half.
- 1:22:59No small ones either.
- 1:23:03Chandler, Flankler to the right. Facone out five to the left.
- 1:23:06Ferguson back.
- 1:23:08Throws. Bought by Gantt. He's hit and down at the 39 yard line.
- 1:23:13All and Ambrose on the tackle.
- 1:23:18Gain of 11. Timeout. Buffalo 39 seconds remaining.
- 1:23:23Bill's trail. 13-7.
- 1:23:28Ferguson now unofficially we show him completing 8 of 15 for 139 yards and a touchdown.
- 1:23:36He's been intercepted twice.
- 1:23:38Both times by Tom Darden he has fumbled once and that was recovered by Mack Mitchell.
- 1:23:44This led to the second Don Cockrell field goal.
- 1:23:48Ron Bolton the fifth defensive back is trotting on the field.
- 1:23:53He's going back to the bench. He wants to ask something. Now he comes back on the field.
- 1:24:00Well this drive for the bill started at their own 10 yard line and they have moved it down to the Browns 39 now.
- 1:24:06On two plays a 30 yard run by O.J. Simpson and 11 yards pass to Gantt but also a penalty of interference on Gerald Irons.
- 1:24:20Mike St. Clair is out of the lineup. They have a choice of pulling a lineman or a linebacker.
- 1:24:3139 seconds remaining in the half. The Browns trailed a 7-0 in the first.
- 1:24:36Then they got two Cockrell field goals in the second and the fluke touchdown pass siked the war field to go ahead.
- 1:24:44In case you joined us late the reason we say it was fluke it was tipped by a Buffalo Bill about 20 yards deep high into the air and picked off by Warfield who took it the rest of the way.
- 1:24:54The cocoon is flanked to the left. Chandler Gantt is tight at left end and Chandler is flipped forward to the right.
- 1:25:01Ferguson to throw. He fires.
- 1:25:04That's a 26 yard line. Chandler was open. He got the ball and then just knocked it down to the ground as he took his eyes off it.
- 1:25:11Oh, he opened. And he had some running room too down that far sideline.
- 1:25:17Tommy Darden was coming over to cover on the play but he had about a 5 yard margin on him with some room to make an angle to the sideline.
- 1:25:27That was a fortunate thing. He did drop it.
- 1:25:2935 seconds remaining. St. Clair is back in and Bolton goes out. They want to improve the pass rush instead.
- 1:25:37The cocoon is flanked to the left. Chandler is flipped by to the right. Seymour is tight at left end.
- 1:25:47Ferguson back set. Get the way once. Upfield throws. And it is deflected and incomplete in the end zone.
- 1:25:56Broken up by Clarence Scott and ten of her Bob Chandler. Both of them went up high in the air. It was deflected by Scott.
- 1:26:03They both tried to dive with the ball in the end zone. Mr. Ferguson came dangerously close to throwing that pass over the line of scrimmage that time too.
- 1:26:12They got that problem of course. Suffered two games ago with the shoulder but also a bad elbow. And it's not really 100%.
- 1:26:22But Chandler is flanked to the right. He untied it right in. The cocoon is out 5 yards to the left. Line up on the tee. First down. 17 seconds left.
- 1:26:33Ferguson back to throw. He fires. Left sideline. It is a game drop. This time it is cocoon. The ball hit him on the shoulder pad and bounced out of bounds.
- 1:26:43Dave is covering. But Ferguson has been the victim of having two receivers drop the ball on him.
- 1:26:49Well and again he had his man wide open. But the ball just got through his hands and hit his shoulder pads and bounced right out of bounds.
- 1:26:57Oliver Davis covering on the play but he was beaten. 12 seconds left and a half.
- 1:27:10The ball on the cleave in 28. Chandler flanked to the right. He untied it right in. The cocoon 5 yards to the left. Line up on the tee.
- 1:27:21Back to throw it. Ferguson he throws in the middle. Incomplete. Gantt had it broken up by Darjan. Now they got the flag. A little late.
- 1:27:33One official looking right at it and said no. And then the other one comes back and calls it. Tommy Darden and Scott are both upset.
- 1:27:43One official said no. And the other official ran up behind him at about 4 or 5 seconds later through the flag.
- 1:27:51Unless he didn't think of the call face match. Not interference. Well at least the ball does not get down to the 10 yard line.
- 1:28:027 seconds remaining. Who's the face mask called on. That's what we're trying to figure. Now the lead of all of the 10. They got to bring the ball back for a face mask.
- 1:28:11It's not interference. That'll bring it back. That was a good play by Tom Darden. He went up right behind the receiver and timed it perfectly.
- 1:28:18And I don't know where the face mask came from. I guess we'll find out.
- 1:28:23They called it against Colton so it was not Darjan and that was not the play we watched. It was elsewhere on the field.
- 1:28:36I watched the replay on television. They showed me the press box and they didn't have it either. So it was away from the play where it was.
- 1:28:42It apparently was a good call. Now we're getting a field goal attempt by Carson Long. Chandler holding 41 yard attempt. 7 seconds left in the half.
- 1:28:53Snap. Kickers up. It just went over the crossbar by about a foot. Two seconds left in the half. And it is now a 13 to 10.
- 1:29:14The ball is lead. I'm surprised that one didn't hit the level. We've had everything else happen in this first half. It hadn't been for the five yard penalty.
- 1:29:23I don't guess you could say they would have been in field goal range because that one barely made it over the crossbar. But barely counts for three in this case.
- 1:29:3213 to 10. Now the bills trail the browns by three. Two seconds left. That'll be taken care of on this run by.
- 1:29:43We've had two touchdowns and three field goals. That's been the scoring in the game. Browns got all their points in the second quarter.
- 1:29:56The bills scored seven in the first on a 38 yard touchdown pass. Ferguson to Gantt. And they just got a 41 yard field goal from Carson Long.
- 1:30:06Browns expecting an onside attempt. Ball is on the tee but he's got the ball laying down flat. He's probably going to make it a knuckleballer hard. He does.
- 1:30:24The ball on the 21. Browns fall on the back of the 14 yard line. Time has expired. And a little temper player on the field. And it's separated.
- 1:30:39There's the gun to make it official. That's the end of the first half of the score. The Browns 13. The bills 10.
- 1:30:47And the Browns will kick off two buffaloes to get the second half underway. They send back the long deep back number 46 Keith Moody. He's had quite an afternoon here.
- 1:30:57Returning. He had one return of 45 yards. That's the longest of the season for the bills. Don Cockroft will kick it off. And we're just about ready. And once again, here's the giver.
- 1:31:11Okay, Jim. And the case people wonder why Oscar Rhodes not playing. It's possible he could play. Here's a hip pointer. Bruce Hipp, which is a rather painful injury. Here's the kick.
- 1:31:21Well, Hipp Moody under it. That's the one. 5-10. Right side line. 20. Slap down at the 23 yard line. By Mike Pruitt.
- 1:31:34So the bill start the second half of the football and trailing 13 to 10. The discussion in the press box was that Reggie Rutgers did in fact deflect the ball.
- 1:31:45There was a touchdown pass and there was the mate brother buffalo girl also deflected it, which the officials did say.
- 1:31:55Chandler is the flanker to the right. The cone is the five yards split to the left. Seymour is the tight end on the right side. They're in the T formation.
- 1:32:06Give the OJ Simpson trying to turn right in. Hurdles one man and the slap down of the 27 yard line.
- 1:32:13And Charlie Hall is there to make the tackle. And it's a gain of about five.
- 1:32:22Oh, yeah, game.
- 1:32:29Balls on the 27 is a gain of four. Second down, six. Gantt in a tight end on the right side. Chandler flanked to the right. The cone is about five to the left. And the T again.
- 1:32:48Back patrol Ferguson. He fires it is caught by Chandler and even out of bounds. It's a good catch at the 41 yard line in front of Clarence Scott.
- 1:33:02Our viewers are skewered by the Buffalo bench.
- 1:33:07I had to wait for the call by the official. Neither team was scintillating in the first half with fumbles and interceptions and penalties.
- 1:33:21Seymour back in a tight end. Chandler flanked to the right. The cones were five to the left when again in the T.
- 1:33:32O.J. right guard this time. Knocked down close to the 35 yard line. Tackles made by Mack Mitchell the right end.
- 1:33:46And again, we want to point out what a game Mack Mitchell has played so far. Several key tackles and one sack and two fumble recoveries. One which he forced himself on the sack of Ferguson.
- 1:34:01Second and six. Now the ends are in tight. Can't and Seymour. Chandler flanked left. O.J. trying to turn right in.
- 1:34:15The 50 down at the rounds 49 and close to the first half. Very fine blocking on the player by the bills. First half. Mike St. Clair on the tackle.
- 1:34:36O.J. nearing his 100 yard mark now. He's got 86 yards on 15 carries.
- 1:34:48The cone work ends split to the left side. Seymour tighted right in. Chandler flanked to the right. They're in the eye formation.
- 1:34:58Give the Braxton right guard. He stops at the 45 of the rounds after a gain of four yards. Charlie Hall is on the tackle with Earl Edwards.
- 1:35:18Now the bills have kept the ball since this kickoff to start the second half. Now Jantin Seymour both in for blocking. 12-18 to play in the third period. Browns late 13-10.
- 1:35:30Ends are tight. Chandler flanked left. And now Braxton the fullback is a wing back to the right.
- 1:35:41Long count. Mike flipped to Simpson. Right in. Cuts back inside. 40 reversed the field with a 35. That's an O.J. Simpson.
- 1:35:55A lot of blockers in there. The fullback and the two tight ends also in there. Peters made the stop. First down top of all they're moving. Started on their 23. They're down to the Cleveland 35.
- 1:36:12O.J. resembles Jim Brown not only running but blocking. That means he does it slowly right. Saves his energy.
- 1:36:23Chandler flanked right. Patom split five with a letter in the eye again. Get the O.J. right tackle. Knocked down right after 35 yards line by Dick Ambrose.
- 1:36:33He got behind the blocker that time. No gene.
- 1:36:43Give you an idea what kind of importance is placed on O.J. Simpson. He's carried the ball 17 times for the bills. Braxton is carried it only three times.
- 1:36:55Ferguson has been forced to run with it three times. So their offense is O.J. Simpson without any doubt. Chandler flanked to the right. Ganttied right in for Kona of seven yards.
- 1:37:05He's been pushed back to the left. Ferguson back in the pocket. He has it deflected by a little bit of a line. My name is Mike St. Clair. They're both in front of him. And it's incomplete. It'll be third down and 10.
- 1:37:19Joe Jones flushed Ferguson up into the pocket more and allowed the pass to be blocked.
- 1:37:29And now they're going to play. St. Clair got his arms up. Joe Jones as you said though was forcing the pass and open up the middle of her. St. Clair to come through. Third and 10.
- 1:37:42Chandler split to the right by five. The Cones flanked to the left. Ganttied left and they're in the tee. Offside Cleveland.
- 1:37:49Ferguson throws it. It's incomplete. Broken up by Clarence Scott at the 25 with the Browns will be penalized. Five yards for offside. It'll be a punt. It'll be third and five.
- 1:38:02Sure the Browns jumped. Joe Jones did not get back. Now they sent Chandler in for blocking.
- 1:38:13For Seymour rather. So far just about every time they sent Seymour in for something got caught holding.
- 1:38:2410-33 remaining in the third period. It is 13-10 Cleveland. The Browns have not had the ball in this third quarter yet.
- 1:38:36Third down and five. The Cones split to the left. Seymour tied it right in. Chandler flanked to the right there in the eye.
- 1:38:47And off. O.J. on the draw. He's hit at the 30 yard line and stopped at the line of scrimmage. Browns kind of figured that one. Tony Peters the safety lined up on the line of scrimmage inside the defensive end.
- 1:39:01And he helps on the tackle. It is fourth down and they're going to punt. The last two times O.J. Simpson has carried the ball. He's got stuff for no gain.
- 1:39:10Right at the line of scrimmage. Good defensive play with the Browns on a crucial play that time.
- 1:39:17They don't feel that they would be in field goal range with long kicking from there. It would be close to 50 yards.
- 1:39:24And if he missed it comes out to the 30 this way they're going to try to punt it out of bounds inside the 10.
- 1:39:33Wolsey is the lone deep back for the Browns but if everything works the way Buffalo wants it to of course he will not return this one.
- 1:39:39They will try to go out of bounds. There's the kick. That ain't going to... no.
- 1:39:45Excuse me. It's in the middle of the field and there's a bad kick. They should have just tried to field goal. They wound up with a ball in the 20 anyway.
- 1:39:54There's an official timeout on the field to score the Browns 13 to Bill's 10.

- 1:41:00Well the bills didn't get up any points out of that drive but they held onto the football for five and a half minutes or four and a half minutes.
- 1:41:12And now the Browns will get their chance first to the second half, first and 10 at their own 20.
- 1:41:20We'll get a station break in after this play. Warfield will be split to the left by seven, Rutgers is slotted to the left, Harris tied it right in, line up in the eye formation.
- 1:41:32Get the quick to it, right tackle, that's the right sideline, 25-30.
- 1:41:3635, he has pulled out of bounds on the 39 yard line.
- 1:41:4019 yards to amper, Tony Green, the faith he got him out of bounds.
- 1:41:44Let's pause for station identification, Mr. McLean.
- 1:41:47Hi, this is John Gordon inviting you to join me every Saturday afternoon following the Ohio State game for a credit phone.
- 1:41:54It's your opportunity to call in and talk about the Buckeyes.
- 1:41:57Credit phone, exclusively on WVNS Columbus, 3 o'clock at WVNS.
- 1:42:08Larry pulls in now on half back, Rutgers starts in motion, the right pitch to pull, outside left in.
- 1:42:14He is to the 43 yard line, he got a flock by peak and then ran into the bills right at them, nobody else out to help, moody on the tackle.
- 1:42:22Markets the 43 yard line.
- 1:42:30And through it's coming back in at half back, Larry pulls in for one, nine minutes left in the third quarter.
- 1:42:36Browns, later 13-10.
- 1:42:44Second down, six.
- 1:42:46Rutger will split right by seven, Flanker will left his fall war field, back to the throw-up site.
- 1:42:51He flips it out to Pruitt. One handed, got it. And he's down at the 50 yard line. Good catch by Drake Pruitt.
- 1:42:57I think he's got enough for the first down.
- 1:43:00He's back up by Brookville and Clark.
- 1:43:06And it is the first down.
- 1:43:09Right down.
- 1:43:12Ball at the 50.
- 1:43:14Now for Browns turn, they started on the 20 yard line and then up to the 50.
- 1:43:21825 to play in the third quarter, no scoring yet in the period.
- 1:43:26War field will split left and Rutger will be a slot back to the left. Harris tight it right in.
- 1:43:32Fluck rim motion to the right.
- 1:43:34And the pitch comes to Miller. Turn left in.
- 1:43:37Flails to the 46, close to the 45 yard line. And Tony Green the safety there to make the tackle.
- 1:43:44We will pursue by the bills on that play.
- 1:43:48Well in the first half the Browns did not run wide that much so evidently at halftime they saw something they thought they could adjust to and that's what they're doing now with a little bit of success.
- 1:43:58Balls marked at the 46, 16 or 4.
- 1:44:02Almost halfway through the very fast third quarter.
- 1:44:08Rutger, swat left, Warfield, strip left. Harris tight it right in.
- 1:44:13Fluck rim motion to the right.
- 1:44:16And off field Miller up the middle, 40.
- 1:44:1835, spins off the tackle and goes down close to the 32 yard line.
- 1:44:25Looks good for about 14 yards. Let's go open quickly in the middle.
- 1:44:30Moody made the tackle.
- 1:44:33Ball has the 32 yard line. Now Miller is going out of the game. Mike Pruitt in at fullback.
- 1:44:41The Pruitt boys are in.
- 1:44:44With that run Miller passed Greg Pruitt on the total yard age 64-60.
- 1:44:50Warfield's purple up, Rutger's slot left. Rutger goes in motion to the right there in the tee.
- 1:44:56Sight rolls to the right.
- 1:44:58Rolling back at the 35 is going to run with it and he runs out of bounds and then he gets hit.
- 1:45:04At about the 29 yard line he was hit in bounds so it's legal tackle.
- 1:45:11He wanted to throw it and he was looking out the referee's record.
- 1:45:16And the balls placed at the 30 yard line.
- 1:45:19Game of two.
- 1:45:21644 to play in the third period.
- 1:45:28And again the referee goes three yards away from Oakland 14.
- 1:45:33Three quarters. Jets lead Oakland 27-14.
- 1:45:37He softened them up didn't he? The Pruitt's left, Warfield's left, Rutger in motion to the right.
- 1:45:42Hand off to Greg Pruitt, right tackle.
- 1:45:44Greg's a tackle. 30, 25 yard line.
- 1:45:48Greg almost got hit down at the 30 and he broke off that one.
- 1:45:52Williams there to make the stop.
- 1:45:54The ball is placed at the Buffalo 25 yard line.
- 1:45:59Pruitt motions to the sidelines, he's coming out to the player two and Pruitt is in now in halfback.
- 1:46:05If Mike Pruitt have fullback, Larry Poole at halfback.
- 1:46:12Third down three.
- 1:46:15Bills are putting in a fifth defensive back.
- 1:46:18Cornell also linebackers at it.
- 1:46:21Rutger blank to the right, Warfield splits seven of the left.
- 1:46:25They're in the tee, site to throw.
- 1:46:27He fires it is caught at the 21 yard line.
- 1:46:31It is Larry Poole and that should be a first down by about a yard.
- 1:46:36Cornell on the tackle, it's a Cleveland first down.
- 1:46:39It was a good catch by Larry Poole too. He had to go up for it.
- 1:46:45Five minutes, 40 seconds to play, third quarter.
- 1:46:49The Browns have had the ball now.
- 1:46:51Now they're drive from the 20 yard line, their own to the 21 above below.
- 1:46:56Each team has the ball only once in this period.
- 1:46:59Good ball control.
- 1:47:01Rutger slot left. Warfield splits seven of the left.
- 1:47:04They're in the eye formation.
- 1:47:06Give to Mike Pruitt over, right guard.
- 1:47:08It's down to the 15 yard line and a pickup of about six more.
- 1:47:11Good blocking in the middle and White and Katesh make the tackle.
- 1:47:21Knows of the ball at the 15 yard line.
- 1:47:2713-10 Cleveland leading third quarter.
- 1:47:36449 to play.
- 1:47:39Warfield is flipped to the left.
- 1:47:41Rutger moves out as they slot back to the left.
- 1:47:44Pitch to Poole like tackle.
- 1:47:46Either the 15, 14, maybe the 13 yard line.
- 1:47:52Tackles made by John Little, then Gilec, Gilec, the right line backer.
- 1:47:59At the 13 yard line, Pruitt's coming back in, replacing Larry Poole.
- 1:48:07Taylor Miller's coming in at Pooleback, replacing Mike Pruitt.
- 1:48:11We have third down, two.
- 1:48:16Yep, the 11 yard line.
- 1:48:20Rutger's a slot left, Warfield's split left.
- 1:48:23Parris tied it right in. They're in the tee.
- 1:48:25Rutger in motion to the right. Pitch to Poole.
- 1:48:28They're trying to turn left in. He's in at the 12.
- 1:48:30He's down close to the 12 yard line and not a first down.
- 1:48:34Moody and Crocco made the tackle.
- 1:48:38It'll be fourth down and a body yard.
- 1:48:40They'll wait till they spot the football down.
- 1:48:42Terry Parris signals to the sidelines, go for it.
- 1:48:45They're sending in the field goalie in step with a three point lead.
- 1:48:53Crocco is two for two today from the 41 and the 27.
- 1:48:58They roll them a hold. This one will be a 29 yarder.
- 1:49:03They're also following up the 19 yard line.
- 1:49:06320 remaining, clock running, third quarter.
- 1:49:09There's the snap. A little high, kick is up.
- 1:49:12It is good. Flag on the play. Yep, we do have a flag.
- 1:49:17It appears to be against Buffalo and if it is, the Browns will take the penalty.
- 1:49:23Now they call a personal foul on Buffalo after the play.
- 1:49:27It'll be on the kickoff, I assume.
- 1:49:30The referee just signaled it was good.
- 1:49:33They're stepping off on the kickoff so it is good.
- 1:49:38315 to play in the third. There's an official timeout on the field.
- 1:49:43The score is the Browns 16 and the Bills 10.
- 1:49:47The Finners were past Blue Ribbon beer.
- 1:49:50Everybody's looking to find the best in the thing they do.
- 1:49:54And if you're ready to play here, take on the challenge of passing the given.
- 1:49:59If you're looking for a wanted beer, there might be a pretty good one.
- 1:50:05But try as one that you can pass.
- 1:50:09The great beer taste will bring it home to you.
- 1:50:15The best food is in the party of the food.
- 1:50:20PAPS challenges you to discover a better tasting premium beer.
- 1:50:25Taste and compare PAPS Blue Ribbon with the beer you're now drinking.
- 1:50:28You'll taste the different Blue Ribbon quality makes
- 1:50:31our quality means the best tasting beer money can buy.
- 1:50:36The best food is in the party of the food.
- 1:50:51The fuel goal does not count. It was a personal foul on a head slap on the play.
- 1:50:55No fuel goal but the Browns get a penalty in the first down on the six yard line of the Bills.
- 1:51:00Now they line up in the T-flamation with Rutgers' slot left and Moorfield's foot left,
- 1:51:05Sight throwing in the corner of the Warfield. Got it. Out of bounds.
- 1:51:09And one foot in and one foot came out.
- 1:51:12Yeah, but I think he was pushed about. If you're pushed about, you don't have to have both feet in.
- 1:51:17Well, if they replay it, we'll take a glance at their monitor.
- 1:51:21But otherwise, it's called an incomplete pass. Well, it is anyway, no matter what they call it.
- 1:51:25I don't think the defender got to him in time to push him.
- 1:51:29There comes the one foot. Yeah, he's shoving him and the other foot goes out, but they call it incomplete.
- 1:51:36It's not a good call.
- 1:51:37No, it's not. That should have been a touchdown pass.
- 1:51:40Logan in replacing Warfield now. Wide receiver.
- 1:51:43Logan will be split to the left. Rutgers' slot back to the left.
- 1:51:47Second goal on the second and goal of the six.
- 1:51:50And off the grid throw it. He's going to throw it. In zone. Touchdown, Rutgers.
- 1:51:57Harris.
- 1:52:01How'd I would feel, Miller? I'll get it in a minute.
- 1:52:04Well, Miller cost the pass.
- 1:52:09All the penalty kills the bills. Otherwise, with the field goal.
- 1:52:15Well, that's the combination that clicked in Houston when it had to. And here it does again.
- 1:52:20Just the same play, really. Miller catches it right on the goal line.
- 1:52:25Until the Browns in 13 plays go 80 yards.
- 1:52:29A greater point.
- 1:52:30Kick is up, and it is good.
- 1:52:33Now there's an official timeout on the field. The score is the Browns 20 in the bill's 10.
- 1:52:40We asked some little people just what it is they like so much about dinner at McDonald's.
- 1:52:45I like the hammer balls in the same space. I get to kiss and get sick milk with the straw.
- 1:52:51They have good things, but other things I like. My mom likes it, but she doesn't have to yell at me.
- 1:52:57It took them a, it took them a, because I eat my dinner.
- 1:53:00I like the cheese, the birds, and the sink. I like it because I get to stay up the sun and throw it.
- 1:53:07Like my sister gets me along the sink, and all you don't get is me along the sink.
- 1:53:14No way. Dinner's more fun at McDonald's.
- 1:53:18Uh-huh. Justin's recent practice. Some of the best reasons for dinner at McDonald's are the little ones.
- 1:53:24Come on, hit the point, hit the point.
- 1:53:28Happy, happy, happy, happy place at McDonald's.
- 1:53:33I'm having a lot of money.
- 1:53:35We get it all for you.
- 1:53:37At McDonald's.
- 1:53:41Well, the Browns marched 80 yards in 13 plays using 6 minutes and 26 seconds of the clock.
- 1:53:52Greg Pruitt, 6 yards pass to Cleo Miller for the touchdown.
- 1:53:56And of course, the big play was they were held to a field goal attempt, and then a hit slap by the bills,
- 1:54:01got him a first down, and that resulted in the Browns getting a touchdown. Here's the kickoff.
- 1:54:06Moody up under this one at the 10. 15, 20. Down to the 26 yard line.
- 1:54:13Back those made by Dave Graf.
- 1:54:20258th play in the third quarter.
- 1:54:24If you can imagine the Jets are leading Houston.
- 1:54:32At least Oakland, rather, the Browns could have beaten them if they not made so many mistakes,
- 1:54:39then Denver did beat them.
- 1:54:41Sadly, Chandler is flanked to the right to cone up 7 yards to the left.
- 1:54:47They can't off, Ferguson back as all day.
- 1:54:50Now he's chased. If he's down on the 25 yard line, guess who? Mike Mitchell.
- 1:54:55Mike Mitchell again.
- 1:54:58Mike Mitchell is just playing himself probably the best game of his career.
- 1:55:06The loss of the yard.
- 1:55:09Browns hit. Everybody covered.
- 1:55:11Ferguson at first. Time to find anybody that was open.
- 1:55:17Somebody missing from the lineup. Can't came out. T-more now is trotting on the field late.
- 1:55:24Browns with a 10 point lead at one point trail by 7.
- 1:55:28Chandler flanked to the right. T-more tight at right end.
- 1:55:32The cone spooked about 7 of the left. Second and 11. They're in the eye.
- 1:55:39There's the Grotto OJ. Outside the end gets away from Joe Jones, and then he's nailed by Clarence Scott.
- 1:55:45He's got a little block right around the knees.
- 1:55:48He upset him.
- 1:55:51Little bit of help on the play where that works to put him down, but Clarence Scott did the job.
- 1:55:56I think OJ pump it on the play too, but the ball is blown dead. He picked up 3 yards.
- 1:56:0311 to go, so it's 3rd knee.
- 1:56:09Now that to get just over the 36 yard line. It gives OJ 99 yards, we show unofficially.
- 1:56:17And then at 43 to play in the third quarter.
- 1:56:22The cone flanked to the left. Chandler spits 5 to the right.
- 1:56:27Ferguson to throw it.
- 1:56:30Deflected out of bounds at the 40 yard line.
- 1:56:34Here it is, it's Clarence Scott again. Well, he had him covered that time all the way too.
- 1:56:39He moved up just before the ball was snapped and took him head on and stayed right with it.
- 1:56:43Great play by Scott.
- 1:56:45So Marv Bateman comes into punt. The Browns defense has asserted itself through most of the second and now in the third quarter.
- 1:56:54They give up one drive, I'll shut them off for another chance of a score starting the third quarter.
- 1:57:00And now the Browns have it now with a 10 point lead, 20 to 10, a minute 19. Remaining in the third quarter.
- 1:57:12Following a 35 yard kick.
- 1:57:15Why Bateman is first in 10 for the Browns, their own 45 yard line.
- 1:57:20So that is losing, Pittsburgh is winning.
- 1:57:23Buckeer, slot left, Warfield split about 10 to the left, they're in the eye formation. They hand off, site back.
- 1:57:30Look, throws right flat, caught by Clarence and he is down immediately at the 45 yard line.
- 1:57:36By Jones, Doug Jones, the strong safety.
- 1:57:44So it's again about a yard.
- 1:57:51Bateman is averaging 29 yards on four kicks today.
- 1:57:55And Greg Coleman is not doing that much better on his three.
- 1:58:02Rutgers flank to the right, Warfield splits out of the left, Paris tight at right end, they're in the eye formation.
- 1:58:07They hand off, site back to throw, screen to the left, at the 40, 45, easy to the 50 and he's out of bounds on the Buffalo 48 yard line by Dunstan and by Moody.
- 1:58:20That will be a gain of about seven.
- 1:58:27Make it eight, balls closer to the 47 yard line.
- 1:58:32It will be third down and about two to go.
- 1:58:38Two and a half, here's Mike Pruitt coming in and pull back.
- 1:58:42The number is going out for the rest. Mike Pruitt just pumped into each other, coming in and out.
- 1:58:54Rutgers flank to the right, Warfield out five to the left, Paris tight at right end, they're in the eye, safety blitz.
- 1:59:00Mike Pruitt trying in the middle, knocked down at the 46, did not get it.
- 1:59:05They're in the eye formation on the tackle, they have a safety blitz coming in, help mess up the blocking and the grounds will pump.
- 1:59:16Denver's leading Cincinnati 17 to 13, that's in the fourth quarter.
- 1:59:22John Kimbrough and Keith Moody in double safety with 44 seconds to play in the third quarter, break Coleman to punt.
- 1:59:42Good snap.
- 1:59:44Line drive, Moody at the nine, 15, reverses the speed, that's back to the left, he's to the 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, he's to the 45, he's to the 50, 40, 30, 20, 10, switch down.
- 2:00:08What a run, 91 yards, touched down in the minutes to run it.
- 2:00:14He must have run over 130 yards, but he was back and forth across the field three times.
- 2:00:26A great run.
- 2:00:31He just reversed the pursuit several times, everybody waved at him.
- 2:00:39He goes 91 yards, four seconds remaining in the third quarter.
- 2:00:48Chandler will hold, long attempt to point.
- 2:00:55That happened last week in Houston.
- 2:01:02Waiting for the point drive.
- 2:01:06There it is.
- 2:01:08No good, off to the left.
- 2:01:10How about that?
- 2:01:12Well, we have four seconds remaining in the third quarter and the grounds lead is now 20 to 16.
- 2:01:19See, that prevents a tie by missing that point, from Buffalo to down the kicker field goal.
- 2:01:25Well, that was some run by Moody, I'll tell you that.
- 2:01:28He went 91 yards, but that was straight up the field, he must have crossed the field three times.
- 2:01:36He actually was blocking and usually on a long front return like that, you'll get a clip somewhere along the way when a runner takes that kind of route,
- 2:01:43but Buffalo played it clear right all the way, put himself right back in this football game.
- 2:01:49Four seconds remaining in the third quarter, 20 to 16, the Browns lead has cut the four.
- 2:01:54Somebody leveled Larry Poole back on the Buffalo 30 on that return.
- 2:02:00He had a pretty good shot of a ball carrier, but a tremendous block, just cut Larry in half.
- 2:02:12Well, the Browns will get the ball back now, it's Kenny Ellis and Brian Duncan, the return men.
- 2:02:21Long will kick off for the Bills.
- 2:02:31Well, the Bills are pumped up with that one, I saw the fans wanted to try and onsite just to surprise the Browns and keep the momentum.
- 2:02:40Well, the Browns have got some pretty good hands up close if they do.
- 2:02:43Larry Poole is up there, Ambrose is up there, Garlandton, Paris, Holt.
- 2:02:52That's a record, there's a line drive kick, just away at the 30, picked up, Duncan at the 20, back to the 25,
- 2:03:01and he is really a little nail, back to the 20 yards line, the tone was the tackling, and Doug Jones on it, there's the gun.
- 2:03:09That's the end of the third quarter in Buffalo to score the Browns 20 in the Bills 16.

- 2:05:01We are just ready to get underway with the fourth quarter here at Rich Stadium in Buffalo.
- 2:05:05The Browns lead, 20 to 16, first and 10 at their own 26.
- 2:05:09Rucker is a slot back to the left, Warfield is split seven to the left, Rucker goes in motion to the right, they're in the tee, site back the throw.
- 2:05:18Over the middle, caught by Miller.
- 2:05:20He's at the 30.
- 2:05:21He's at the 35.
- 2:05:22Rowe's close to the 36.
- 2:05:24He touched the ground at the 35.
- 2:05:26Franco and Nelson on the tackle.
- 2:05:29And it'll be a nine yard pickup.
- 2:05:34Well, the last three times Brian has thrown, he's gone to Cleo Miller.
- 2:05:38That puts Brian over the hundred yards and passing 107 now.
- 2:05:45Ten completions, 17 attempts.
- 2:05:53Rucker flank to the right, Harris tight at the side end, Warfield split five to the left, they're in the eye.
- 2:05:58Rucker in motion to the left, hand off to Cleo Miller.
- 2:06:00Up the middle, he's got the first down to the 40, to the 43 yard line.
- 2:06:04Water block, Henry Shepard, just as they were blown the play that he blew into Tony Green with safety and knocked him five yards backwards.
- 2:06:15The ball out on the 43, first and 10.
- 2:06:24Pallium moves over the ball at center, Harris lines up tight at right end, Wreckers slop to the left, Warfield split left, and I'll pull it in the middle.
- 2:06:34Up to the 45, to the 47 yard line.
- 2:06:37Back up by Katesh and White.
- 2:06:42Bob Jackson out leading the blocking on the play and Shepard.
- 2:06:50Pallium's the left end is coming off the field holding his right wrist.
- 2:06:55Greg Morton is going in at defensive end.
- 2:06:59Cleo Miller's having himself quite an afternoon, he's got 13 carries, 73 yards, he's caught five passes for another 20.
- 2:07:06One of them a touchdown.
- 2:07:08Rucker, slot left, Warfield split left, Rucker in motion to the right, hand off to Cleo Miller, up the middle, no game.
- 2:07:17Those are all over him, Katesh was in the middle of that pile.
- 2:07:24It'll be third down, and about six.
- 2:07:28Mike Katesh is an interesting young man, gave a try with the Miami Dolphins coming out of Notre Dame and couldn't make the team down there.
- 2:07:35Don Shula on a couple of occasions said he had a lot of potential but didn't think that he wanted to play that badly.
- 2:07:41He's come up here to Buffalo and he's played well.
- 2:07:44A fifth defensive back, gone in for Buffalo Bills, also linebacker, both Cornell is down on the field.
- 2:07:52Third and sixth, Rucker, slot left, Warfield split left, Harris tied it right in during the tee, site back, grows, caught by,
- 2:08:01Rucker falls down and then gets hit at the 44 yard line.
- 2:08:05At the first down, had he not fallen, he would have had a lot more running room, he was finally knocked down by Cornell.
- 2:08:13Picked up nine on the play, and the nose of the ball closer to the 43 yard line,
- 2:08:22but Deacon did a good job on the Sherman quite that time, kept him away from site.
- 2:08:2911-55 to play in the game, the Browns lead by four points.
- 2:08:34Rucker slot left, Warfield will be split left.
- 2:08:37Back record, right B9 Warfields, Harley has slot back, Lackler motion to the right, hits to Miller, turning left in.
- 2:08:4640, 35, he's down to the 30 yard line.
- 2:08:51Clark made the tackle, Ryan Siphas mixing up his plays very, very well in the third period.
- 2:09:0013 yards, that's the past, I forgot it was over.
- 2:09:16This drive started on the Browns, 26.
- 2:09:20Rucker will be a slot left, Warfield split left, again, Rucker right B9 Warfield, clear in the tee,
- 2:09:27Rucker in motion to the right, handoff, clear Miller in the middle, down to the 18 yard line in the first down, it gets four.
- 2:09:35Giddish, and Crokoff made the tackle, first down to the 18 yard line.
- 2:09:45Clio now has 90 yards in the game, OJ's the leading rusher with 99.
- 2:09:52Get a station break after this play, Williams is back in at left end, there is left wrist ball taped up.
- 2:10:01Again, Warfield and Rucker out to the left, Harris tied it right in, they're in the tee, Rucker in motion to the right, handoff to Pruitt, right in, 20, 15, 10 out of bounds,
- 2:10:12on about the nine yard line, Crokoff made the tackle, and Greg broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage to get that game.
- 2:10:19We've found four station identification, this is a Cleveland Browns football network.
- 2:10:24Hi, I'm John Gordon, every week night between 6.30 and 7.30, you can call in and talk about sports on 14 BNS sports talk.
- 2:10:32We always have guests and special features for your enjoyment on sports talk, exclusively on WBNS Columbus.
- 2:10:43Well, the attendance today is 60,905, 2700 no-shows.
- 2:10:50Ball on the nine yard line, second down about a yard to go, is a handoff to Miller, right tackle to the five, he's to the four in the first down.
- 2:11:03Nelson on the tackle, Brian Sykes, when he made the handoff, put his hand on his hip the way he usually bootlegs, thought he might have had it.
- 2:11:12They sold 63,000 tickets.
- 2:11:21First down and goal to go on the four yard line, the Browns lead by four points.
- 2:11:30Warfield flank to the left, Rutgers flip four yards to the right, Sykes back the throw, rolls to the right,
- 2:11:38fires in the end zone to Rutger, incomplete, broken up with a fine play by Mario Clark.
- 2:11:45He couldn't find Rutger in the corner as he broke his pattern first, and as he rolled to the right, then Rutger wisely ran back under the goal post, but Clark stayed with him.
- 2:11:56Now, then is coming in a guard that means Henry Shepard will move to tight end.
- 2:12:01Rome is not available today. Warfield's going out.
- 2:12:06Shepard is reported, and the bills have been notified that Shepard with a 65 number is an eligible receiver now.
- 2:12:15Ends are tight. Rutger is the flanker to the right, now he starts in motion to the left, and off-pruitt, flag down, right tackle, touchdown.
- 2:12:25We might have the Browns moving on the play, however. Might have a legal procedure back in motion.
- 2:12:31There was some movement.
- 2:12:36Yep. Back in motion. I'm not sure Rutger is not the guilty party. I don't know if he was moving, he must be moving away from the line when you're in motion.
- 2:12:47You may not move toward it or be parallel with it, exactly.
- 2:12:51Good luck that time by Bob Jackson. Great-pruitt followed him right into the end zone and nearly stomped his head off when he came down.
- 2:12:59Okay, Warfield's coming back in, and Shepard is going out. The ball goes out to the nine-yard line. It is second down and gold.
- 2:13:08Fetally was against Rutger. Yep, he was not moving away from the line.
- 2:13:19Slot left, Rutger, Warfield split left, Rutger in motion to the right. Sight to throw. In the middle.
- 2:13:29Parris, touchdown!
- 2:13:31What a good-
- 2:13:32Gary Parris, open. Got the ball right in front of Tony Green, the safety, and rolled away from him for the six points with 845 remaining.
- 2:13:42Well, the Browns took the ball that time, and they marched 74 yards in 12 plays, culminated by the nine-yard strike.
- 2:13:50Ryan Sight to Gary Parris. Gary Parris is becoming, he always has been a very valuable member of this squad, but he's having himself quite a season.
- 2:14:00Well, those players have never had much of a chance before.
- 2:14:04Right on the point by Buffalo, the kick is good. They'll decline it. 845 remaining in the game. There is an official plan out on the field with the score, the Browns 27 and the Bills 16.
- 2:14:19Do you remember last winter? How could we forget? Although it's only autumn now, and the cold seems far away, this is the time to get ready.

- 2:14:51When you're looking for a better way, we're the ones to turn to. Are we here to answer every need? Well, it's no guess, it's yes and thee.
- 2:15:02You've got a problem with your car, no need for confusion. There's a bright idea right here. Here's the right solution.
- 2:15:12Dear Creek Auto and Chopper, we're the ones to turn to.
- 2:15:21In Williamsport, Ohio.
- 2:15:23Well, the Browns took it, went 74 yards in 12 plays. They used 6 minutes and 15 seconds of their clock.
- 2:15:33The backyard touchdown strike from Brian Seif is second of the afternoon. This one went to Gary Parris. His second reception is first for a touchdown of the afternoon.
- 2:15:42There was a five-yard penalty assessed against the Bills on the extra point kick, so Don Cockroff will be kicking off from the 40-yard line.
- 2:15:53And Keith Moody will be the lone deep back for Buffalo, and Don Cockroff will have a bit of a chance to get this one into the end zone. Perhaps there will be no return.
- 2:16:06Buffalo has had some pretty good returns here this afternoon, kickoff and punt-wise. Of course, the last score, a 91-yard punt return for a touchdown.
- 2:16:15There's a scrimper taken on the 24-yard line by a Bills lineman, and that is a touchdown, a defensive lineman, and he gets the ball up to about the 32-yard line.
- 2:16:29And the Bills offense coming out on the field.
- 2:16:34So if Don meant to do that or not, it's kind of hard to figure out why we kicked a scrimper at that point.
- 2:16:50Percone is out four yards to the left, Chandler flank to the right, they're in the tee. Percocen back to the throws, chased by Sinclair, throws it up field, deflected, incomplete.
- 2:17:04Off the hands of Braxton the fullback, and the Browns were chasing it, nobody could grab it.
- 2:17:05Big M Rose almost came up with it, but just a little bit out of his reach.
- 2:17:10Sinclair and Joe Jones have the rush on Percocen that time, moved and threw it quickly and too hard, gamped back in at tight end, 8-34 to play in the game, Browns lead by E-11.
- 2:17:38Percocen back to throw it, Ferguson. Incomplete, off-gant hands at the 48, thrown a little hard for him also.
- 2:17:47And Tony Peters has the coverage on the play.
- 2:17:50Yeah, probably should have caught that fast. I think Ferguson has had about four or five drops today that should have been completed.
- 2:17:59So it'll be third down now and 10 to go for the build at their own 32 yard line. Browns offense today, a little bit more effective than it has been the last couple of weeks.
- 2:18:09Three touchdown passes, Greg Brouitt threw one of them.
- 2:18:15At third down and 10, Kim Rose in a wide receiver, he's on the left side, Chandler is flanked to the right.
- 2:18:22Kim Rose flipped forward to the left, there in the tee, back to throw it Percocen. Throw it, it is incomplete.
- 2:18:30He's intended to left side lines with Kim Rose, and I also on Sinclair because he almost took Ferguson's head off, he hit him on the side of the helmet with his hand, but it was legal and the referee was watching.
- 2:18:44Fans think it was a little rough, but he just swiped him with his hand on the way by, so the bills will have to punt.
- 2:18:51Give Denver now late Cincinnati 24 to 13 in the fourth quarter.
- 2:18:56Rosie in single safety, Bateman to punt.
- 2:19:01There's a booming kick. Rosie back after it on the 17, he zips and down at the 15 yard line, and it is Keith Moody, the man who returned the punt for the record 91 yards,
- 2:19:17and the spot will be the 16 yard line. There's an official timeout on the field, 8.15 to play, the score the Browns 27, the bill is 16.
- 2:19:26If you're looking to find what's best, and the things they do, and the music they hear, take on the challenge of Pat's Blue Ribbon. If you're looking for a quality beat, and where I fear with any other, you try once and you deserve it.
- 2:19:46The best beer space we're bringing home to you, without the blue ribbon the quality always comes through.
- 2:19:57Perhaps does a challenge for you to taste and compare perhaps the blue ribbon with any other premium beer. You'll never go back to the beer you were drinking, because blue ribbon quality means the best tasting beer you can get.
- 2:20:10The best beer space we're bringing home to you, without the blue ribbon the quality always comes through.
- 2:20:28Well, 21-21, New Orleans, St. Louis tied at the half, and Chicago, rather, Atlanta leads Chicago 9-3. Interesting games going on around the NFL. Right now, Bateman finally got off a good punt, 51 yards, the Browns have it first and 10 at their own 16.
- 2:20:53The Browns have a slot formation to the left, Harris tied it right in, the Slotman record in motion, hand off Cleo Miller, with a left tackle to about the 19 yard line.
- 2:21:03Dunston and Dokes on the tackle. 8 minutes remaining in the ball game.
- 2:21:16Well, Cleo Miller now has 97 yards on 18 carries, and it looks like he's going to be the first man to go over 100 yards here this afternoon.
- 2:21:25O.J. has 99 yards on 19 carries, but he has not carried the ball lately. Second and seventh. Slot left again, Rucker, starts in motion to the right, and off to Greg Truett, right in, cuts inside a block, 20. 25 yard line, pick up a 6, and a flag after the tackle.
- 2:21:47Down in the middle of the pile, tackle by Nelson and the Black Throne, I think on Doug Jones for safety.
- 2:21:59Personal foul, Buffalo. As we said, they're watching it much closer. I'm sure the officials have been notified by the commissioner to keep your eye on anything, to stop what's been going on in all of sports.
- 2:22:10Team yard penalty. Now the ball is out to the Cleveland 31. It is on 24, Doug Jones. Must have been a late hit. We're halfway through the period.
- 2:22:27I was going to say, I think Truett probably picked up the first down on that run anyway, picked up 7. He now has 84 yards.
- 2:22:35Rucker and Warfield again going to the left. Now Rucker's lined up just a step outside Warfield, and goes in motion to the right, and off Miller, up the middle.
- 2:22:4645. 47 yard line. Crackle and Nelson on the tackle. That's 100, isn't it?
- 2:22:53That's 100. That puts him over. He had 97. He gets 5 on that, make it 6. So he's now got 103 yards on 19 carries.
- 2:23:077 minutes left in the ball game. The Browns lead to 27-16. Rucker, Warfield both to the left again. Rucker the flanker. Now he starts in motion to the right.
- 2:23:26Pitch to clear Miller, turning left in. 50 breaks a tackle. He's to the 46 yard line of the Buffalo Bills.
- 2:23:34Nelson on the tackle. The Lionbacker. First down. What's OG have, Jim?
- 2:23:42OG has 99 yards, and he's had that for, well, ever since midway through the third quarter.
- 2:23:49106. 112 now.
- 2:23:53Well, I got him for 7-6 on that one, so he should have, according to my records, 109 yards.
- 2:23:59They gave 112, and it's the first time he's ever done.
- 2:24:04OK, we'll give him 112 too. How about that? Having done it on 20 carries.
- 2:24:11Rucker in motion to the right, and Mike. Greg coming up the middle, and just gets into the 43 maybe.
- 2:24:20Katie, Shin Williams were there to put him down, and the ball is marked on the 44.
- 2:24:34Two yard pickup.
- 2:24:39Greg Pruitt could have 100 yard game here this afternoon too with one good run. He's got 86.
- 2:24:47524 to play. Rucker flank left, Warfield split. 7 of the left. Paris tied it right in.
- 2:24:54There's a T, record motion to the right. You have to clear the middle. Left tackle.
- 2:24:58Breaks the tackle. Carrying a man with him to the 40 yard line.
- 2:25:01There's a 39 yard line. Almost lost part of his jersey. Dokes knocked him down.
- 2:25:06Filled Dokes. That's Joe's brother.
- 2:25:11The ball was spotted inside the 39, so it's the 38 yard line. It is third down, about 2 1 half to go.
- 2:25:21The ground's doing most of it on the ground, the second half.
- 2:25:25Ryan Seyve doing a real good job as you pointed out earlier, mixing up his play.
- 2:25:32Rucker flank left, Warfield split left. Paris tied it right in. Rucker in motion to the right.
- 2:25:40And off to it, hitting the backfield. Tried to go around right in, knocked down at about the 43.
- 2:25:47Doug Jones, the safety, diagnosed that one perfectly, so that hurts for the fifth.
- 2:25:52They're marking the 44 yard line now. And the Browns were plund.
- 2:25:59I'm figuring to get the ball maybe one more time. Kim Rowland, single safety.
- 2:26:08That takes Greg back to about 80 yards. Back to 80 yards.
- 2:26:15355 remaining, and pulling the punt.
- 2:26:21And the kick is away. Off the right side of his foot.
- 2:26:26He got knocked down again, and another foul called against Buffalo.
- 2:26:31This time Moody knocked him down.
- 2:26:33Falling out of bounds at the 11. But they're going to mark a penalty.
- 2:26:39Against the Bills. Well, that'll bring the offense back.
- 2:26:42Automatic first down.
- 2:26:47First time the man got called for roughing the kicker, he came right up to middle this time.
- 2:26:51He came from the outside on the right side. Went right into it.
- 2:26:57And very unnecessary also. The ball was long away.
- 2:27:03Now the ball is on the 39 yard line. First down and 10.
- 2:27:10And the fans now after that penalty, filing out of the stadium.
- 2:27:16345 to play in the game. 27-16 Browns lead.
- 2:27:22High formation. Rocker, the flanker goes in motion to the right. You have to prove it up the middle.
- 2:27:28And Greg gets just about 2 to the 37 yard line. Dokes on the tackle.
- 2:27:37Denver is in Cincinnati, 24-13.
- 2:27:40There's the final. Denver 24, Cincinnati 13.
- 2:27:45So the Bengals are going to be in the cellar. Where they've been anyway.
- 2:27:50You know, if they're just having to pull that game out and upset open, Denver will have a 2-game lead.
- 2:27:55Yeah, if. If. If. It's one any word.
- 2:28:01Rocker again. Flank left. Warfield split left. Second down and 8.
- 2:28:06Rocker motion to the right. There's the tee. Pitched to prove it. Trying to turn left in.
- 2:28:11He's up the 34 yard line. So Greg gets it. You have to do it the hard way.
- 2:28:17And the clock. And the clock.
- 2:28:21First down 5.
- 2:28:25The Browns are aware of Greg's total of giving the ball the last three plays.
- 2:28:31He's back up to 86 yards, but don't forget some of the other things that Greg Pruitt does.
- 2:28:37He has thrown a touchdown pass here this afternoon. He's also caught two passes.
- 2:28:42Of course, Cleo Miller's caught 5. One of them for a touchdown. There in the tee.
- 2:28:47Slot left. Rocker. Warfield. Split left.
- 2:28:52Sight. Back to throw. He fires. It is caught by Rocker. 34. 30.
- 2:28:59Down to the 24 yard line and he's got it first down. Jones on the tackle. Browns keep the drive.
- 2:29:05Moving. We're coming down to the two minute warning.
- 2:29:10There is an official timeout on the field to score Cleveland 27th, Buffalo 16th.
- 2:29:17Your Firestone Store at Cleveland is offering their Steeleville at radio 721, not only $54,
- 2:29:23but the B-R is 7813, white wall plus $2.00 and 6 cents for the right size backs an old tire.
- 2:29:29It's their newest, finest radio tire ever and priced to be reeled on the earth value.
- 2:29:34Of course, not only is free on your Firestone tire purchases and convenient weather plans are available too.
- 2:29:39And another thing, mom and dad, if you've got a youngsters between 10 and 15 who would like to attend a Cleveland Browns football clinic
- 2:29:45with such Browns as Don Cockroft and Earl Edwards as teachers, then come on in to your Firestone Dealer or Firestone Store and register.
- 2:29:53100 youngsters will be the guests of Firestone at a Cleveland Browns clinic Saturday, October 29th at Baltimore Wallace Field.
- 2:30:00Clarence Scott, Ron De Leon and Coach Raymond Berry, all of them past catcher will also be on hand.
- 2:30:06So come on in to your Firestone Dealer or Firestone Store and register.
- 2:30:22Well, the New York Jets didn't pull it out. The Oakland Raiders win today 28 to 27.
- 2:30:27A scare for John Madden and his crew, I'm sure.
- 2:30:32Right here we've got a 27 to 16 ball game, two minutes left, first and 10 for the Browns, the ball at the bill, 24 yard line.
- 2:30:40So the Browns are going to come out of this contest with a 4 and 2 record and at least hold on to a tie.
- 2:30:46Well, Pittsburgh beats Houston 27-10, so it's going to be the Steelers and the Browns at the top.
- 2:30:53On the 24 yard line, first down and 10, give to Greg Pruitt trying to turn left end.
- 2:30:59He's down to the 21, he's still on his feet to the 20, close to the 19 yard line.
- 2:31:04He's driving hard, he's trying to get to 100 yards today.
- 2:31:07Dokes made the tackle. They got five on that play.
- 2:31:12So that now gives him 91.
- 2:31:2127-10 was Pittsburgh win today.
- 2:31:25Browns are due back in Cleveland at about 5.45 on United Charter.
- 2:31:32Second down, five with a 19, a minute 22 to play and the clock's running.
- 2:31:38Browns at home next week to Kansas City.
- 2:31:41Rucker flanks to the right, Warfield splits to the left, they're in the tee.
- 2:31:47And off to Pruitt again, right tackle, trapped and dropped, back up to 22.
- 2:31:53He tried to string that one out and McCatish worked through to pull him down.
- 2:31:56Timeout Buffalo with a minute three to play.
- 2:32:01Well it goes back to 86 yards, now he lost three on that play.
- 2:32:05Now he's getting tired too, they're putting Larry Poole in the game.
- 2:32:13This will be the 14th play of this drive coming up.
- 2:32:16It started at the Brown 16 yard line, Brian Sight takes advantage of the Buffalo timeout,
- 2:32:21goes into the sideline, Dr. Farr is correct.
- 2:32:24Greg Pruitt's just too far away from 100 to risk injuring the ankles again and the game is won.
- 2:32:31So it serves no good purpose.
- 2:32:37Kansas City Chiefs who come to town, Cleveland next week, of course, led by former Brown Paul Wigan.
- 2:32:47Browns come out of this game as we said with a 4-2 record.
- 2:32:50And they'll be tied with Pittsburgh for the lead in the AFC Central.
- 2:32:55Houston drops back into the middle of the fact and Cincinnati goes to the bottom all by themselves.
- 2:33:03We'll say a lot of people would be surprised by what has happened in the AFC Central so far this season.
- 2:33:08See this is the Browns best scoring of the year, is it?
- 2:33:11Yep.
- 2:33:13Well, a Buffalo, I mean against New England, 34.7, let's see.
- 2:33:21Take a look here.
- 2:33:24Browns out of the huddle, third down about 8 to go for the first down and Sight's gonna throw it.
- 2:33:31The Blitz on, he's hit and he is down on the 31 yard line.
- 2:33:37And a Blitz on by Gillick, the right linebacker, missed him and then Dopes knocked him down.
- 2:33:45They had loss of 9 on the play.
- 2:33:48And look at them, Browns scored 30 points against New England, but of course three of those came in the sudden death.
- 2:33:55So this equals their best output of the season.
- 2:33:58They'll be 27.
- 2:34:00That's what I say, they had 27 against New England in regulation play, they have 27 today, so that equals that.
- 2:34:06They got their three points in the sudden death.
- 2:34:11The other girls called timeout at the fourth down on about 16 to go.
- 2:34:18The Browns are gonna...
- 2:34:22They didn't send anybody in here.
- 2:34:25Haunter or Playsfield.
- 2:34:31They're putting Rucker back in.
- 2:34:33Green Bay beats Tampa Bay, 13 to nothing this afternoon.
- 2:34:39Haunter sending in Don Cockroft for the field goal attempt.
- 2:34:45Thank you.
- 2:34:46About a 47 yarder.
- 2:34:48Willie, if you don't three this afternoon, one of 41, 27 and 29, 29 yarder was canceled because of a penalty on the play.
- 2:34:55The Browns went on in for a touchdown on that drive.
- 2:34:5747 yard attempt, Dave Logan the hole.
- 2:35:09And the kickback, Robbie punts them all.
- 2:35:11They snap to him and he got the ball down, it's on the one and rolls in the end zone.
- 2:35:16They snap it directly to Don Cockroft and he tried to pun it out of bounds, but he didn't get it over to the side at all.
- 2:35:22It's hit on the one when up straight in the air and it bounced into the end zone.
- 2:35:27Well, it's first time they've done that one.
- 2:35:29So the ball comes out to the 20 yard line and the Bills get it with 49 seconds to play.
- 2:35:37The Browns will be home Sunday to the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 2:35:47Kim goes in a wide receiver on the left.
- 2:35:50He has split left, Chandler flank to the right, Gantt tight it right in.
- 2:35:56He in the backfield.
- 2:36:01Ferguson to throw it.
- 2:36:03It is caught by Gantt at the 40, down at the 45 yard line by Tom Darden on the initial hit.
- 2:36:10Charlie Hull helps on it.
- 2:36:13O.J. will not get his 100 yards.
- 2:36:15I don't think unless they just decide to give it to him once more.
- 2:36:1834 seconds to play.
- 2:36:22Time stops.
- 2:36:23Browns slowly coming up field.
- 2:36:25They'll wait a little bit more across the line of scrimmage.
- 2:36:35Same alignment.
- 2:36:37Ferguson back to throw.
- 2:36:40Whips it.
- 2:36:41It is the cone and he's knocked down at the 33 yard line by Irons.
- 2:36:50Timeout off the low.
- 2:36:51That's their last timeout with 24 seconds to play.
- 2:36:59Ferguson is now 11 out of 25 for 198 yards.
- 2:37:06One touchdown.
- 2:37:07He's been intercepted twice.
- 2:37:08Tom Darden picked both of those off.
- 2:37:12Gantt had himself quite an afternoon.
- 2:37:14He's caught 5 for 111 yards.
- 2:37:16He's caught the one touchdown pass and 38.
- 2:37:21The cone is caught 3 for 50.
- 2:37:25Browns offensively are through.
- 2:37:26Brian Seif, at least they should be through.
- 2:37:28Brian Seif is completed 14 of 22 for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
- 2:37:36One of 52 yards to Paul Warfield on a tip pass and one of 9 yards to Gary Parris.
- 2:37:42Brian was intercepted twice.
- 2:37:45Greg Pruitt threw the other touchdown pass.
- 2:37:47Six yarder to Cleo Miller.
- 2:37:53All on the 33 with 24 seconds to play.
- 2:37:56Kimbrough back in, wide receiver left split by 4.
- 2:37:59Chandler flank to the right.
- 2:38:01Let's see in the backfield.
- 2:38:07Ferguson back to throw.
- 2:38:09He throws it.
- 2:38:11Incomplete.
- 2:38:12And then for Chandler down to the 15 yard line from the line to the side lines.
- 2:38:17Scott and Peters are both covering on the play.
- 2:38:2020 seconds remaining.
- 2:38:32Second and 10.
- 2:38:33Put home back in and wide receiver to the left.
- 2:38:40It'll be split by 5 yards.
- 2:38:41Chandler flank to the right.
- 2:38:43There's a tee again.
- 2:38:47Ferguson back, throws it deep in the corner of the end zone.
- 2:38:51Overthrown intended for the cone and just threw it out of the end zone.
- 2:38:56Ground again at double coverage on him.
- 2:38:59They had both Davis and Darden covering.
- 2:39:0614 seconds left.
- 2:39:19The ball game is all but over.
- 2:39:21Buffalo builds.
- 2:39:23Got a new losing streak.
- 2:39:27Chandler flank right.
- 2:39:29Nobody thought the Browns would be 4-2 at this point of the season.
- 2:39:33But the Browns.
- 2:39:36Ferguson chase.
- 2:39:37Joe Jones now throws it.
- 2:39:41And it's incomplete.
- 2:39:43And we're also at an eye on Mike St. Clair who went up over the top of Ferguson.
- 2:39:47He was writing him down.
- 2:39:48In fact, he couldn't do anything about it.
- 2:39:50He got on top.
- 2:39:51There's no place to hide.
- 2:39:53And the referee was watching and waved it off.
- 2:39:55No problem.
- 2:39:569 seconds left.
- 2:39:58The Browns intended that one for the popcorn vendor in the end zone.
- 2:40:03He had to get rid of it in a hurry.
- 2:40:05He got flushed out by Joe Jones.
- 2:40:11Browns defensive line.
- 2:40:13Played very well today.
- 2:40:259 seconds left.
- 2:40:28There's the fourth and 10 play.
- 2:40:33Ferguson back patrol.
- 2:40:36He fires it.
- 2:40:38Deflected, incomplete.
- 2:40:40Gamp could not hang onto it.
- 2:40:41And then Charlie Hall could not hang onto it.
- 2:40:434 seconds left.
- 2:40:45And the Browns get the ball.
- 2:40:47Now the rest of the fans are leaving.
- 2:40:50You know what the Browns are going to do with it here.
- 2:40:53They're going to snap it and fall.
- 2:40:55Now let's see.
- 2:40:56The Browns defense gave up one touchdown.
- 2:40:58That was in the first quarter.
- 2:41:00A touchdown from Ferguson to Gantt.
- 2:41:03So the field goal, of course, the 41-yarder.
- 2:41:06Then the other touchdown was a hot return.
- 2:41:10So the defense played well again today.
- 2:41:16OJ Simpson will not get his 100 yards.
- 2:41:18He goes out unofficially.
- 2:41:19We show with 99 yards.
- 2:41:22On 19 carries.
- 2:41:26This will be the last play of the game.
- 2:41:32The Ryan Sight falls down.
- 2:41:34Browns protecting it.
- 2:41:36And that's it.
- 2:41:37That's the end of today's game.
- 2:41:39From Rich Stadium in Buffalo, the final score.
