Transcript
- 0:00Good morning everyone and welcome back to Spy Trader .
- 0:03It is 6 am on Friday , April 10th , 2026 , here on the Pacific coast .
- 0:10I am your host , Penny Profit , and I am so glad you could join me for our early morning market huddle .
- 0:16We have a lot of ground to cover as we head into a very big Friday for the financial world .
- 0:21It has been a whirlwind week for investors , and honestly , a bit of a relief for many of us .
- 0:28Right now , the major indexes are on track for their best weekly performance since all the way back in November .
- 0:34We are seeing a fragile but optimistic rally following the news of a U.S.
- 0:38and Iran ceasefire .
- 0:40The S&P 500 , which we follow through the SPY ETF , is currently trading around 6,836 points .
- 0:49That is up about 3.7 percent for the week and puts us just a stone's throw away from the alltime high we saw back in January .
- 0:58The techheavy Nasdaq , or the QQQ , is actually leading the way with a 4.3 percent gain this week as investors dive back into growth stocks .
- 1:08Even the Dow , the DIA , is up about 3.6 percent for the week .
- 1:13Looking at the sectors , Communication Services is our big winner .
- 1:17Meta Platforms , ticker META , rose 2.6 percent yesterday after they announced an eightyear deal with CoreWeave .
- 1:25On the other hand , the Energy sector , represented by XLE , has been the laggard this week , dropping over 3.5 percent as that war premium on oil started to settle down after the ceasefire news .
- 1:38Despite the dip , Brent crude is still sitting high near 100 dollars a barrel .
- 1:43In the broader economy , we are all holding our breath for the March CPI report coming out today .
- 1:49Experts are looking for a 0.9 percent monthly jump in inflation .
- 1:54This is why the Federal Reserve has been so cautious , keeping interest rates steady at 3.50 to 3.75 percent and signaling they might only give us one rate cut for the entire year .
- 2:07We also saw some mixed signals from earnings .
- 2:10Constellation Brands , ticker STZ , saw its stock surge 8.5 percent yesterday after a great earnings beat , though they did pull back on their future guidance because things are still a bit blurry out there .
- 2:24Meanwhile , Delta Air Lines , ticker DAL , came in a bit short because fuel costs are really biting into their profits , which is a good reminder to be careful with the transport sector right now .
- 2:35So , how are we playing this ?
- 2:37First , I think it is wise to keep some protection in your pocket .
- 2:40Given the ceasefire is still fragile and inflation is sticky , I like holding some gold through the GLD ETF .
- 2:47With gold near 4,745 dollars an ounce , it serves as a great hedge .
- 2:54I also think it is a good time to buy the dip in energy .
- 2:58If that ceasefire hits any snags , oil prices could spike again .
- 3:02Companies like Chevron , ticker CVX , are trading at a nice discount compared to where they were in March .
- 3:09For those of you looking for growth , the AI trend is still very much alive .
- 3:14I am keeping my eye on the QQQ and specifically companies like Applied Digital , ticker APLD .
- 3:22They just reported a massive 139 percent increase in revenue this week , which shows just how much demand there is for AI data centers .
- 3:31Finally , for my income seekers , with the 10year Treasury yield at 4.29 percent , bond ETFs like TLT are looking very attractive .
- 3:42If today's inflation data comes in even a little bit cooler than expected , we could see those yields drop and bond prices rise .
- 3:51It is going to be a fascinating day with BlackRock reporting their earnings as well .
- 3:56Keep your eyes on the charts , stay disciplined , and let's see how this week closes out .
- 4:01I'll be back in a few hours with another update .
- 4:05Happy trading everyone .
