- 1:30Well, now it's time for today's episode of the Casebook of Gregory Hood.
- 1:37The Adventure of the Beeswax Candle That's free wine brings you Fate Book of
- 1:45Gregory Hood Tonight. The Patrick family, the family that took time to bring
- 1:56you good wine. Invite you to listen to the adventure of these wax candles.
- 2:01Another exciting story from the case book of Gregory Hood. I hope you're
- 2:06sitting back in a comfortable chair after a good dinner. Did you try my
- 2:09suggestion to start that dinner with a glass of Petrie California sherry. Petri sherry
- 2:15is the best beginning a good meal ever has. When you pour yourself a
- 2:19glass of that Patriy sherry, just look at the color, a beautiful deep
- 2:23amber. Then hold that glass of Pattery sherry up to the light. Notice
- 2:27how clear Petri sherry is, just as clear as crystal. That you know
- 2:31is one sure sign of a good sherry. But only when you put that
- 2:36glass to your lips do you really know how good Petrie sherry is. It
- 2:39has a flavor that comes right from the heart of luscious sun, ripe and
- 2:44grape. Oh and say, if you like your sherry dry, you know
- 2:47not sweet. Petrie makes a fine dry sherry. It's called Petrie pale dry.
- 2:53If you don't know which you prefer, the regular or the dry,
- 2:57why not dry? Boat? Don't buy one, buy you, but just
- 3:00be sure you always by Petrick. Well, it's Monday night in San Francisco
- 3:23and we have a weekly date with Gregory Hood and his friend Sanderson's Face.
- 3:28Tonight's rendezvous is at one of this city's favorite and most colorful meeting places,
- 3:31the top of the Mark Hopkins Hotel. Let's join the Mary, Harry Bartow,
- 3:39how are you, missus? Taylor? Hello, Gregory, Hello,
- 3:42Harry comes to down. We were just discussing a story. Really said this
- 3:46story, so I let him set the state for it and go ahead,
- 3:49Sammy. Well, Harry. Though it's an adventure that happened last January,
- 3:52it is vivid in my memory is if it had taken place yesterday. It
- 3:54all began one evening when Mary and I were driving home from a party in
- 3:58the Berkeley Hill. Mary your edification, Harry being what Wilson would refer to
- 4:01as stand as b W b W beautiful wife. I get a go on,
- 4:06sir. We were driving the Packer convertible, but even with fog lights,
- 4:10we could barely see the white line in the middle of the road.
- 4:12Everything was a grayish blanket, and though it was only a couple of miles
- 4:15from the party to our home, we managed among the twistings of all those
- 4:18unaccountable streets in the hills to get completely and utterly lost. I didn't dare
- 4:24drive beyond the face of a somewhat depressed and anemic snail, And as we
- 4:28crawled along, I prayed that the white line would leaders where sandy. This
- 4:35fog rather exciting, doesn't make driving exciting, Mary, I can hardly see
- 4:40the white line. I am afraid we're lost, like a dream world,
- 4:46the kind of night when anything could happen, a night for adventure. He
- 4:49sound like gregorys. All I want is home and fed. Oh last night
- 4:55too, But tonight I think it's rather gay and rheumatically lost with you,
- 4:59and after seven years of marriage, Darling, that's very flattery. This man
- 5:03playing the clown in excellent. I wonder who lives around here? This plays
- 5:10like that sounds like a professional turn it. Even the street light they're off,
- 5:14the power failure. I guess my, that is quiet, the sort
- 5:19of night's trouble. Somebody's in trouble. Stop the car, candy, Darling.
- 5:25It's the middle of the night. We can't see your hand in front
- 5:27of us. Stop the car, Handy. That sounded like a woman's screaming,
- 5:30come on, dandy, wait for me, Mary, Wait for me,
- 5:33darling. Where are you married? Mary? Mary? I've lost my
- 5:57wife in this fog. I thought you might have come here here. Yep,
- 6:17I lost my wife and Missus Fogg she didn't come here, did she?
- 6:20No me Too'd you lose her? I'd like to learn the trick.
- 6:24Look, I have no time to joke. Do you have a phone?
- 6:26Nope? Still hoping for one though, Well, how about the house next
- 6:29door. Missus McIntosh lives there, get the phone. Thank you, You're
- 6:32welcome, well you poor man. Of course you can use my telephone over
- 6:46there. Thank you so much, Missus McIntosh. This is no night for
- 6:49a young girls to be running around by herself. You had a quaddle,
- 6:53of course, No, we didn't, Missus macantish, of course you did.
- 6:56I know how these things happened. When I was a young thing.
- 6:59I used to be in my she hints, but I assure you police headquarters
- 7:02please, missus McIntosh. We heard a scream as we were calling along.
- 7:05I stopped the car. Oh, this is Sanderson Taylor. I'm up in
- 7:11the Berkeley Hills and my wife just jumped out of my car and disappeared in
- 7:14this fog. What fast? No, we didn't, Lieutenant. As we
- 7:16were driving along we heard a scream. I stopped the car, My wife
- 7:20jumped out and just disappeared. Okay, I'll be over in the patrol cars.
- 7:25Where are you? Oh, just a moment. What's the address you?
- 7:28Please? One? One four an dry. I'll make it as fast
- 7:32as I can, and this fuck I'll be waiting for you. And now
- 7:35I'll make you a nice hung of tea and then you can tell me what
- 7:39you called about. Mister Tarry, We've been in every hour on this street
- 7:55and there's no trace if you're wife. But Lieutenant King, she she can't
- 7:58just have disappeared. This she has You're sure you didn't have a row with
- 8:03her and she hopped out on you? How many times? So I have
- 8:05to tell you that we didn't have a round. Okay, okay, Look,
- 8:09mister Taylor, it's nearly four in the morning. I suggest to drive
- 8:13to your home. The FOG's lifting a little now. But look, if
- 8:16your wife does get near her phone, she'll be bound to call you.
- 8:20Or just take it easy, mister Taylor. I'll bet you'll turn up before
- 8:24morning. Good morning, Gregorenhood Importers. Mister Taylor, Lord, I've been
- 8:43calling him all night. Do you know where he went? Yes, mister
- 8:46Taylor, he's down at the dock supervising the unloading of a cargo. Do
- 8:48you know the name of the boat or the peer number. I don't know
- 8:50the name of the boat, but I think he said pre number sixteen.
- 8:54You're sixteen. Okay. If he should call you, tell him I'm driving
- 8:56over there right away. And that's what happened, Gregory, and couldn't find
- 9:11any trace on it. Guy, Sandy, I wish i'd been home.
- 9:13I puw my plane down to del Monte last night. I came back early
- 9:16this morning. I must have called you forty times during the night. I've
- 9:18been absolutely franky. I have a hundreds all right, Sandy, but let's
- 9:22set ashore and get to a phone. I've got an idea. Oh,
- 9:24lundberg Wood, you take over the unloading, okay, wo be very careful
- 9:30with that Peruvian consignment. I've got a spectral client lined up for those INCA
- 9:33headdressers. Right. Come on, Sandy now and let me get this flight
- 9:41straight. You checked it all the houses near where Mary got out of the
- 9:43car. Yes, as far as we know, As I told the police,
- 9:46though it was hard to spot the exact area. We were completely lost
- 9:48in that darned claud and your only real clue as to your location was that
- 9:52guy who was playing the caninet just before you heard the scream. Yes,
- 9:54you say he was a good plan or top notch. I remember that.
- 9:58Mary said he sounded like a profession and that's our only leader. Oh,
- 10:01here's a phone booth if you have a Nickels family. Sure, who are
- 10:05you calling? Harry James is at the Saint Francis. He may be able
- 10:07to help us. You mean he might know who the clarenhese is? Sure
- 10:11he's really good. Harry will know him. Now, mister Harry James with
- 10:16a swim chance? Gregory who? Who? But it's worth trying. Oh
- 10:20Harry, this is greg Hood. I know, I know, I must
- 10:24sound like the crack of dawn. I'm sorry as I'm in a jam.
- 10:26Perhaps you can help me. Well. My best friend's wife disappeared in a
- 10:31fog in the Berkeley Hills last night. The last time she were seeing somebody
- 10:33was playing a mighty sweet clarinet light nearby. I thought you might know.
- 10:37Is there any really good clarinet players living in Berkeley. You do the name
- 10:43of Bill Cooper. Huh? You have his address? Harry and Luck Stanley.
- 10:48You know is a clarinet play in berkosehas is looking up his a dress.
- 10:50Oh yes, yes, Harry. His address is one on nine Modern
- 10:54Ways. Much obliged to you, Harry, as I'll call you later.
- 10:58We might have in it together. And thanks a lot. You had your
- 11:03car hand Sandy shure to it. And let's head out across the bridge and
- 11:07pay a visit to Bill Cooper, the sweet clarinet player. This is his
- 11:22house, all right? Does it strike a responsive chord? And they know
- 11:26it's hard to say in a day time, but this street leads off hogs
- 11:28and drive and that's why I ended up last night in the fog. I
- 11:31hope that Bill Cooper can help it, so do I. Yeah, I
- 11:37heard your sweet clarinet. I just couldn't resist dropping by. You're a musician.
- 11:41I play around with the piano a little in an Ameter way. Well,
- 11:45come in, come in. I'm Bill Cooper. My name is Gregoryhood,
- 11:50and this is my friend Sanderson Taylor. All right, Stanna, Oh,
- 11:52I see you have a piano in here. Maybe we could try a
- 11:54little jam session sometimes. Yeah. Maybe Are you a professional, miss Cooper?
- 12:00I said, just my hobby. I'm a teacher of judo. That's
- 12:03an interesting combination, you know. Bet. It is you do is great
- 12:05step, you know, give you a feeling of power. Look, Bill,
- 12:09I hope you can help you. Last night, around twelve thirty,
- 12:11my wife and I were driving near here. We heard you playing to clarinette.
- 12:15Yeah, that's right. I was playing at that time, and suddenly
- 12:16we heard a weird scream. My wife jumped out of the car to investigaton.
- 12:20I haven't seen her since. I'm absolutely frantic. Yeah that's good.
- 12:26Uh, what can I do to help you? Well, did you hear
- 12:28that screen? Bill, you'd stop playing a few seconds before about twelve thirty?
- 12:33You say, yeah, Say, I do remember hearing a kind of
- 12:35square. I thought it must be the radio over the professors. It certainly
- 12:39came from that direction, the professor. Yeah, that's a maya. He
- 12:43lived across the street at one twelve. And then let's say him a visit,
- 12:46Sandy. I'm much obliged to Billy. It's the hood. And when
- 12:48you're straighten out on your mix up, there wh I come back and hit
- 12:52that keyboard. We might not got a couple of hot lakes together. Mister
- 13:05Gregory hood, I am glad that at last you have come to investigate the
- 13:09house next door. And why should I investigate a professor and my house of
- 13:13mystery? Three things happened there. Things I do not understand, lies and
- 13:18noises. And last night, when I am in bed, I think I
- 13:22hear scream. You don't mean a house across the street to your professor,
- 13:24where Bill Cooper, the clarinet player live. No, no, I mean
- 13:26the house next to you. It's supposed to be anything, an empty house
- 13:30in this day and age. That's a phenomenon I understand. In some ways.
- 13:33It just tied up in a estate. He said, you miss thehood.
- 13:37It cannot be tould until the ownership is the sight. Well that's a
- 13:39mile. Why do you say the house is supposed to be empty. No
- 13:43one lives in the hood. But many times I've seen light and movement.
- 13:46Dare I do not like it? And one night I think I hear,
- 13:50no, no, no, it is impossible. We will check with you
- 13:54later, professor. Come on, say this right now. We'll take a
- 13:56look at an empty house. That scream. My house looks deserted, Gregory.
- 14:09Yes it does stand the front doors lockeder, yeah, yes, but
- 14:15the locks old fashioned, and the skillet and he will do the drink.
- 14:18I suppose I'm condoning a burglary, Gregory. And I don't think they'll send
- 14:20us up the river on this one. Oh, open said to me.
- 14:28Come on, Sandy, Gregory, I'm scared supposing well, the house is
- 14:41unfurnished. Yes, what is it? Footprints in the dust, A woman's
- 14:45footprints leading into the front room. Shut up, look lying by the fireplaces.
- 14:52It's Marry, Marry, Marry. Not all right handed, she's breathing.
- 14:56Must have been drugs. I run back to Professor Myers and call the
- 14:58police and get them to sent an ambulance. Do that, And though,
- 15:00before you go, I suggest you take a look by the window. Thered
- 15:07bearded man laying on the floor. He's unconscious too. Uh. If you
- 15:11look closer, you will see that he's wearing a knife in the breast pocket.
- 15:15A knife sit thin up for the hill. Then there, I'm afraid
- 15:18we're now mixed up in murder. You'll hear the rest of Tonight's story from
- 15:33the case Book of Gregory Hood and it's good dinner and tell you how to
- 15:37make a good dinner really great. Just serve that good dinner with a good
- 15:41Petrie dinner wine. If you're having hamburger, steak, chopped stew, in
- 15:46fact, any meat or meat dish by all means, serve it with Patrick
- 15:50California Burgundy. Patrick Burgundy is a hoty red wine with a marvelous flavor.
- 15:56Now, if you're having fish or chicken, try serving it with Patrick California
- 16:00so Turned. Patri So Turn is a delicately flavored, subtle white wine.
- 16:04It's just perfect. And whether you serve Patri Burgundy or Patri So Turned for
- 16:10both, remember you can serve them proudly because Patrie is the proudest name in
- 16:15the long history of fine wine. Well, Gregory again, you left me,
- 16:21Cliffhang, what happened next? That's an easy one, Harry Sandy sent
- 16:23to the police and an ambulance while I stayed in that deserted house. Who
- 16:26has the ambulance arrived? We rushed off at the hospital with poor Mary and
- 16:30taste the card anxiously while the doctor was Then why the devil doesn't me let
- 16:37me see your greasy, easy Sandley. By the way, did the face
- 16:41of that bearded corpse strike? The response ave cauding you, No, I've
- 16:45never seen the solo before. I think I know him. The beard to
- 16:48me at first it must be recent, but I'm certain he's a refuge named
- 16:52George Renault Taylor. Doctor. She's going to be all right, Yes,
- 16:57mis Taylor, She's going to be all right. Can I see her for
- 17:00a moment, Yes, but no longer. He's exhausted, Mary, Mary
- 17:07Dolly Ollo sanded here. Hello, Greg, how do you feel? Mary?
- 17:14Awful? Rather as if I've been trying to rumble with a hurricane or
- 17:18your poor dotty Sandy. I may be quite all right, the doctor says,
- 17:25I'm sucking from shocks, that's all. Oh what happened Mary? Last
- 17:29night? Of me? I really know a grey guy. I ran down
- 17:33the street, turned the corner, saw a light in the house, the
- 17:37only one that did have a light. The door was open, walked in
- 17:44and sting something hidden in the bathroom here, And that's all I knew.
- 17:51Told just now Mary, except the squadron squadrons of twinloaded butterflies have been buzzing
- 17:59too. Maunderin m h squety. She just sleep greatly. Thank the Lord,
- 18:06she's safe. This we'll come back later. That's sir. Hello,
- 18:14Aeutenant King, this is Gregory Hood. Oh how do you do? The
- 18:18doctor tells me your wife will have to stay in the hospital a couple of
- 18:21days. I guess, so I wish I could take her home right now.
- 18:23No, I'm not at all sure you'll be able to do that when
- 18:26she's well. Mister Taylor, what are you driving at, Lieutenant? I
- 18:29may have to book her on suspicion of murder, mister Hood, Oh,
- 18:33Lieutenant, are you crazy? No, No, but your wife may be.
- 18:37We found her fingerprints on the dagger that was sticking in the dead man's
- 18:41chit with the blow on her head, Lieutenant. She was not cold by
- 18:44a blow on the back of the hair. That's her story. But I
- 18:47just talked to the doctor. He tells me there's absolutely no evidence of her
- 18:51having had a blow on the head at all. You're back again. My
- 19:04presence is coming, thank you. Professor Meyers. Work is what did you
- 19:07find out? It's the house of mystery. There quite a number of things,
- 19:11Professor, including my wife and the corps. Your wife and a corp.
- 19:15I knew it. It is a house of evil. I also found
- 19:18this book, Professor Meyers, was lying on the Missrs Taylor's unconscious body.
- 19:22I thought it would interest you. This is the sixteenth sstery book, The
- 19:27House of the Mirror of My Lovers. This confirms my suspicion as to that
- 19:33house next door. This is a book, a book, a greenware.
- 19:37What's a cream ware, Professor Mayer, I think, mister Hood, No,
- 19:40don't you, I think so. It's a handbook of black magic,
- 19:42a collection of all the most evil and supposedly poking spells. Is this correct,
- 19:47my friends? And this book, this, my Devli, is one
- 19:49of the most celebrated and horrible of all greenware. As a scholar, mister
- 19:53Wood, I would tag you to give this book to the university library.
- 19:56As a man, I say, I can do neither. At the moment,
- 20:00Professor, I'm study it. Within these worm eating covers lies the answer
- 20:06to murder. Driving me crazy sitting around the house without marry being I know,
- 20:18I know, did you call the hospital stand that? Yeah, she's
- 20:21fine, but the Lieutenant King's still in residence there. We've got to do
- 20:25something. Gregor and doing my best while you were driving the children over your
- 20:27aunts. I divarged the mirror of malevole from cover to cover, and I'm
- 20:32confused, fand there. This case isn't pleasant. In fact, it's very
- 20:36messy. We're mixed up in black magic. Black magic slls a nasty,
- 20:40vicious, evil mind at work, and it means even worse. Gregory,
- 20:44for peach Stake stopped coming on a piano. Okay, okay, I'm sorry,
- 20:49Sorry, I didn't mean to yell, Gregory. I know what did
- 20:53you mean just now when you said it was vicious and evil and worse than
- 20:56that? Well, I was thinking what the police might have made and if
- 21:00they realized this was a black magic case. If that scream you heard last
- 21:03night was not a death screen but some part of the supu ritual. Supposing
- 21:07Mary wandered in and something happened, well, Sandy, wouldn't it be possible
- 21:11that she killed him herself? Gregory, you can't believe that. I couldn't,
- 21:15but Lieutenant King could, and I wouldn't blame him. What we have
- 21:18to get is a confession from whom, oh I know, from whom all
- 21:22right. It's a question of how, if only this done, book,
- 21:26would Sandy I deserve to be kicked from here to Sacramento. What are you
- 21:30burbling about? I got the answer it right here in the book. Let
- 21:33me see, and here it is. Listen, I'm reading from page ninety
- 21:37six of the Mirror malevolee, how you may make a murderer confess his crime
- 21:42in a candle of pure beads waxed. Insert the cuttings of the nails of
- 21:45the dead man. Learned it in the presence of the murderer, and the
- 21:49spirit of the dead man will descend upon him and torment him until he do
- 21:53confess his murder. Gregory, I'm willing to ride along with you most times,
- 21:56but if you put me faith in that kind of sudline, that's and
- 22:00I think this is going to work. Get your nails clippers. Then we'll
- 22:02go out and find a nice white bee white candle. After that, I'm
- 22:04planning on playing a hot duet with Bill Cooper, amateur clarinet player. I
- 22:08think we may smoke out a murderer. I'm planet you came back, mostefa.
- 22:22What do you want to play? We'll let that live. Bill went
- 22:26thought from here to remember I whipped up a few weeks ago. You know,
- 22:29all said standing Oh yes, Gregory, I'm all said. Okay,
- 22:30Bill, let's see where you can go on from here? Right very much
- 22:45now, Gregory, yes, standing? Now what's burning of bed? White
- 22:53candle with George Renaud's NAO pairing? Stuck down and put it out? Bill?
- 22:59Put that candle out, put it out to me? Oh no,
- 23:02Bill, we'll hold you. So you're gonna watch the candle burn. It's
- 23:04pretty, isn't there. Don't you feel him now, don't you, sir?
- 23:07Is the murdered man that's defended the tormented. Let me going, you
- 23:11evon tormenting you Bill, as long as that candle burn until you compare.
- 23:14You know George Renaud didn't you? Oh no, I didn't can run a
- 23:18burn? Bill. It's got a burn right town. Come on, Noll,
- 23:21Why not admit it? You and Renault played a black magic, didn't
- 23:23you? Oh? Yeah, good it. You admitted before that you had
- 23:26a taste for power. Don't you can get it that way? I said,
- 23:29Finally, you killed him because cause he would give you more power than
- 23:30human sacrifice. I could still that can please you? Did? Bill?
- 23:34And when missus Pare walked in on the killing, you strugged her with one
- 23:37of those paralyzing blows of the peculiar. The judo then left no mark,
- 23:41and you planned to frame her for the killing. You would have pa burnt
- 23:44on the dagger. Go in for it, Bill, you can't have killed
- 23:48George Burnau's murder spirits has returned, And don't know you never unless you compare
- 23:52Will burned candles until you forgot more daylight. Look, but I do know
- 24:00what everything Marry Dolly, how you see he's at Sandy gabbers fine and Gregory,
- 24:25Yes, you were wonderful, Lieutenant, seems tells you to he saved
- 24:29me from a possible murder. Chide for I think you understand how it was.
- 24:33Why should you, Lieutenant personally, I think you have a horrid mind.
- 24:37I'm just the guy who works on the facts. There this the hood
- 24:41got a nice spirit confecton out of Cooper. He keeps saying, the dead
- 24:45man call meticin. How do you do it? You good by using a
- 24:48four hundred year old book, But Gregory, you didn't really believe in that
- 24:52stuff? Of course not. They've gone and horrible, but Bill Cooper believes
- 24:56in it. The only way magic ever appears to work is when the victim
- 24:59knows about it and believes that what they prefigured with Cooper in the first race,
- 25:03or to him for one thing, the fact that he's been an instructor
- 25:04in judo. That's what a conference being able to stun Mary without leaving any
- 25:08physical trace. But the real print was the scream last night. I don't
- 25:12get you, Gregory Cooper said. He thought it was the professor's radio,
- 25:15but there was a power of failure in this area at the time. He
- 25:18told me, stand it that all the lights draft. That's try if they
- 25:22were sure. If Cooper had been in his own house, he'd have been
- 25:25sitting in the dark. He'd have known don well that his neighbor's radio wasn't
- 25:27working. He lied flastly, and why should an inn man do so because
- 25:33he was in the deserted house, led only by candles and improvising on the
- 25:37clarinet. He didn't know about the power failure. But that didn't make a
- 25:41short case. I have to scare him Intal professions, greig Reydan, you're
- 25:45a very remarkable man. You're a very remarkable girl. I thank you for
- 25:48saving me from a gas chander. Cool think nothing of it, Marry,
- 25:52but I do, and I need you have promised. What is it?
- 25:55Man? Whenever we have you to dinner from now on, I'll set the
- 25:59table with these wrecks, sandals come handles without fingernails. And for the main
- 26:03course, Reglary, we'll have twin moaded butterflies. Greg, that was some
- 26:23story. I didn't know you knew so much about black Man. I'll let
- 26:30you in on a little secret. Harry. I don't know a thing about
- 26:32it. The only kind of magic I know is what my old father talking.
- 26:36He did the most wonderful act of throwing a woman in her but it
- 26:38never works me. You mean you couldn't master the trick, right, No,
- 26:44it requires lots of practice. Oh and you couldn't find the tie.
- 26:48No, I shouldn't find the woman. Oh no, But Harry, you
- 26:52must know if you pretty good tricks you so no, not one? Greg?
- 26:56Come on, Harry, how is it every time I come to your
- 26:59house but marvelous meals? And you're no cook a Greg? That's because of
- 27:03the Petrie wine. Didn't your old father ever tell you what a good dinner
- 27:07wine does for any meal? It all comes best, you know, And
- 27:12you know Petri wine is good wine. Why it's got to be Look at
- 27:17the long years, the skill and experience that goes into its making. The
- 27:21Petrie family has been making wine for generation. Wine making is their heretage,
- 27:26a heritage handed down from father to son, from father to son. So
- 27:33you can see why the Petrie business has grown and grown so that today the
- 27:37Petrie family are America's largest independent wine making. Yes, but making the Petrie
- 27:42wine is a family affair, and the Petrie family has every intention of keeping
- 27:48it just that. So you know, the name Petrie on a bottle of
- 27:51wine is more than a trademark. It's the personal assurance of the Petrie family
- 27:56that Petrie wine is an always will be good wife. Well, Grad,
- 28:03we've wake particular page of the case book. Are you turning too? For
- 28:06next weeks? God? Next week, Harry, I'm want to tell about
- 28:07an odd story that trusuplace in Hollywood some months ago. It's in terms of
- 28:11noted columnist and extremely garrulous press agent, but me and a very dead accort
- 28:18I call the adventure murder in celadors. See you next Monday, Harry.
- 28:22You backtag And in the meantime, if you hear of any place for LNT
- 28:25or sale, will you let me know don't tell me you're looking for a
- 28:27place for lairs. No, no, Harry, It's for a friend of
- 28:30mine, a veteran who just got back. Believe me, this housing shortage
- 28:33is really hitting the returning service men high. And if anybody deserves the breaks
- 28:37they do, I think it's up to us to do what we can to
- 28:41see that they get first chance at any vacancyck. Remember, if you have
- 28:45a vacancy, lent it to a veteran. Good night. The Case Book
- 29:07of Gregory Hood is written by Dennis Green and Anthony Bouder. Original music composed
- 29:11and played by Dean Foxler. Gail Gordon plays the part of Gregory Hood,
- 29:17and Sanderson Taylor is played by i Gilmore. The Petry Ryan Company of San
- 29:27Francisco, California invites you to tune in again next week, same time,
- 29:33same station. The Case Book of Gregory Hood comes to you from my Hollywood
- 29:37studio. This is Harry by Terrell saying good night for the Patrie family.
- 29:47Welcome back, Well as usual, a very interesting case. I actually found
- 29:52it a little more scary or creepy the first time I'll listen to it.
- 29:56But listening to this time, the one thing that I noticed was that Gregory
- 30:02obviously didn't believe in it because he was using Sandy's nails in the candle,
- 30:10which obviously has no power in terms of that particular curse. Well, now
- 30:15we turn to listener comments and feedback and have this from Kevin. Hi again,
- 30:21Adam, a suggestion consider, since there are so many different series running
- 30:23here, would you consider mentioning the air date or approximen date of each program
- 30:29before you play it, at least as far as they available. I can't
- 30:32always remember the time period we're dealing with, and it's interesting to me either
- 30:34way. I always love your programs, and again, thank you very much
- 30:38for your hard work and good quality. Well thanks so much for the question,
- 30:42Kevin. It's not an unreasonable request. I do it on the War
- 30:47and because we're dealing with a variety of different programs, but I don't do
- 30:52it on every series, particularly this one, unless we've had a bit of
- 30:57a jump, if we had lost episodes, then I'll usually mention the date
- 31:03of the program. But unless I say otherwise, we're kind of just,
- 31:07you know, one week to another, though I do understand losing track.
- 31:11You can always go to Great Detectors dot net. Where we have show notes,
- 31:15and the show notes do have the deed of the show in there.
- 31:18My one concern is if I make that commitment to our listeners that you know,
- 31:22and I say every time I do it at the start of the show,
- 31:27I'll include the date. If I forget, then I basically have to
- 31:32re record the whole intro and I don't like doing extra takes. But I'll
- 31:37go ahead and level set now as to where we're at with each particular series
- 31:42that we're playing right now. And if folks lose track in the future,
- 31:47you can go to Great Detectors Net on Yours truly Johnny Dollar July thirtieth to
- 31:53August third of nineteen fifty six, case Book of Gregory Hood June twenty fourth,
- 32:00nineteen forty six. Nick Carter November fifth, nineteen forty four, and
- 32:05the Lineup December twelfth, nineteen fifty two. And if you ever lose track,
- 32:09you can always check on the website because we do keep that information there
- 32:15and it may even be in the description if you have iTunes. All right,
- 32:22well, then we'll do it for today. We'll be back tomorrow with
- 32:25the continuation of the Sea Legs Matter, and then join us back here next
- 32:30Tuesday for the Casebook of Gregory Hood. In the meantime, send your comments
