- 0:57Speaker 2: continuing journey about Michael Phillips, the man who has the
- 1:00Speaker 2: tiniest weenie on Earth. And this story just seems to
- 1:06Speaker 2: be a classic tale of humanity where it's something good
- 1:10Speaker 2: happens and then something worse happens to this man.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I have all sorts of questions about that guy, and yeah,
- 1:28Speaker 1: who America? Despite everything America is a very giving place.
- 1:34Speaker 1: And but the fact people donated to his GoFundMe, it's like,
- 1:43Speaker 1: there's better things to do with your money. People.
- 1:47Speaker 2: The thing that surprises me the most about that is
- 1:49Speaker 2: the fact that he didn't pull in six figures. I mean,
- 1:52Speaker 2: if there's ever a good cause that you talk about
- 1:55Speaker 2: someone being just absolutely afflicted with something that they can't help.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I figured more money would come his way. But good thing,
- 2:02Speaker 2: he's used to shortcomings. So that's coming up today. Also
- 2:11Speaker 2: homeless people doing homelessly stuff, of course, and to Split

- 2:33Speaker 2: a coworker, someone that's got something so small in their
- 2:36Speaker 2: life there's nothing left but tears. Maybe they could use
- 2:38Speaker 2: a chuckle. Send them the show and together we can
- 2:41Speaker 2: grow the Treehouse show. Let's start today with to Split
- 2:47Speaker 2: or Not to Split?
- 2:48Speaker 3: Trey.
- 2:51Speaker 1: So, I recently had an experience, as everyone knows, are
- 2:56Speaker 1: those new. I am a recovering alcoholic. I don't drink,
- 3:01Speaker 1: have been. So this is a just mind blowing thing.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Of next Monday, it'll be a decade.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Congratulations.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I appreciate it that I'm still trying to wrap my
- 3:17Speaker 1: mind around that one.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Basically as basically a fifth wait of your life has
- 3:24Speaker 2: now been alcohol free. Well, I guess, I guess in
- 3:28Speaker 2: your early your early days, like when you were seeing
- 3:32Speaker 2: when you were like a toddler and it well I
- 3:35Speaker 2: can't say teenager probably, but let's say a quarter of
- 3:39Speaker 2: your life has been alcohol free. Oh you're gonna do
- 3:44Speaker 2: the math, aren't you.
- 3:45Speaker 1: No, that's true. And yeah, that being said, so go
- 3:53Speaker 1: out to dinner whatever, I don't drink. So I had
- 3:56Speaker 1: an experience where I went to a birthday dinner, and
- 4:03Speaker 1: which I'm normally fine with, but at a certain point,
- 4:06Speaker 1: if I know the players involved, I am not one
- 4:13Speaker 1: and Dan you can testify this. I am not cheap.
- 4:16Speaker 1: I am not someone who's you know, I'm gonna pull anything.
- 4:20Speaker 1: But also I'm not gonna piss away my money paying
- 4:24Speaker 1: for everyone else's drinking. So I went to a birthday party,
- 4:28Speaker 1: I knew the players involved, and I had a feeling
- 4:32Speaker 1: bottles of wines are going to be order and everything else.
- 4:34Speaker 1: So I and I, as I have done for a while,
- 4:39Speaker 1: I discreetly pulled the waiter aside server and I go, listen,
- 4:45Speaker 1: I go, I need you to keep me on a
- 4:46Speaker 1: separate check so that way, like, I'm more than happy
- 4:55Speaker 1: to pay. I'm happy to contribute to to the birthday
- 4:59Speaker 1: person's festivities. But what I'm not willing to do is pay.
- 5:03Speaker 1: You know. And now, if everyone was just gonna have
- 5:06Speaker 1: a drink or whatever, yeah, okay, I'm not gonna really
- 5:08Speaker 1: split hairs. But I knew this group, and you know,
- 5:13Speaker 1: by the time it's all said and done, they've spent
- 5:17Speaker 1: over one thousand dollars on wine and drinks and everything else.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Because there are some players involved that have done very
- 5:25Speaker 1: well in their life. So it comes time to split
- 5:32Speaker 1: up the bill. And then you're like, well, hey, everyone,
- 5:33Speaker 1: what is divided up by ten? I'm like, no, I go,
- 5:39Speaker 1: I kept my check check separate go, so I'm gonna
- 5:43Speaker 1: take care of that. And I go, you know, here's
- 5:46Speaker 1: some money for to cover the birthday person's bill. Mm hmm.
- 5:53Speaker 1: And they're like, oh, come on, you know, they're like,
- 5:55Speaker 1: don't be that way, just just make it easy. I
- 5:57Speaker 1: go It's perfectly easy to go divide by nine instead
- 6:00Speaker 1: of ten, just because you know. I mean, if you
- 6:02Speaker 1: need to bust out a calculator, knock yourself out. But no,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I am not paying y'all all. You know you had
- 6:11Speaker 1: like four bottles of wine.
- 6:13Speaker 3: M h.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I did not, you know, partake in any of that,
- 6:17Speaker 1: and I don't feel I need to pay for it.
- 6:21Speaker 1: A couple of the people who I knew know me
- 6:25Speaker 1: better than others, were okay, fine, other kept giving me
- 6:29Speaker 1: dirty looks like I was being the party pooper because
- 6:33Speaker 1: they were having to pay more. And I'm like, man,
- 6:35Speaker 1: why would I pay for y'all's excessive drinking. I mean,
- 6:39Speaker 1: I appreciate if over ten years ago, hey, I would
- 6:42Speaker 1: have been right there with you, But.
- 6:44Speaker 3: That made me doing laps around you.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the fact that you know and like I said,
- 6:50Speaker 1: excessive ordering everything else, which is fine. Like I said,
- 6:54Speaker 1: I I tipped my server very well, like about a
- 7:00Speaker 1: forty percent tip, paid for mine, threw in some cash
- 7:05Speaker 1: for you know, I even I specifically brought cash so
- 7:14Speaker 1: just I knew, I go, hey, here there's my portion
- 7:16Speaker 1: to cover the birthday person's meal and their night.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but I.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Don't feel like and I mean, and especially ten years
- 7:25Speaker 1: into this, I don't feel bad at all. But I
- 7:29Speaker 1: found it funny that some people thought I was being
- 7:32Speaker 1: cheap are a pain in the ass because I wasn't
- 7:37Speaker 1: going to pay for everyone's drinking. And it's not like
- 7:40Speaker 1: I I made it difficult. I said, I had my
- 7:45Speaker 1: check separate and you know, I mean my check was
- 7:54Speaker 1: a quarter of what they ended up divving up. I
- 7:57Speaker 1: mean it was. It's amazing how you money, you say,
- 8:00Speaker 1: when you don't drink and you go out. Oh, it's like.
- 8:05Speaker 1: There was another night I went to Hobby Ears, which
- 8:07Speaker 1: you've been there, you know, this fantastic uh Mexican place
- 8:10Speaker 1: in Dallas, like Mexico City food.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Love it.
- 8:13Speaker 1: And this was it had been my first time. This
- 8:16Speaker 1: was actually a couple of years ago, and my first
- 8:18Speaker 1: time at hobby years post sobriety or post drinking whatever.
- 8:23Speaker 1: And I was shocked because I you know, it was
- 8:28Speaker 1: I was on a date. Oh yeah, we had an
- 8:30Speaker 1: appetizer entrees and I think the check was like ninety bucks.
- 8:34Speaker 1: I was like, oh wait, how this happened? Oh.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Javier's is one of the best restaurants in Dallas, and
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's super reasonably priced.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, oh wow, it's not that bad. Oh
- 8:47Speaker 1: that's right, because I'm not knocking back fifteen dollars marker.
- 8:54Speaker 3: Uh yeah, yeah, that helps. That's without a doubt.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I am always fascinated by these split Czech scenarios and
- 9:02Speaker 2: yours and yours has an additional layer to it, right,
- 9:06Speaker 2: because your story, your situation, and this split the chech
- 9:10Speaker 2: birthday scenario is already complicated because you've got different socioeconomic factors. Right,
- 9:16Speaker 2: You've got some people that have done really well for themselves,
- 9:20Speaker 2: and then you've got other people that you know don't
- 9:22Speaker 2: have that same amount of money, right, and then you
- 9:26Speaker 2: may even have some people at the table that have
- 9:28Speaker 2: even less than that. So it really complicates it just
- 9:31Speaker 2: from a financial point.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I assure you I was the poorest person at the table.
- 9:35Speaker 2: I was trying to be delicate about it, but I
- 9:37Speaker 2: kind of figure you don't need partly because you spent
- 9:40Speaker 2: so much on drinking over your life.
- 9:42Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean that's.
- 9:44Speaker 1: Yeah, No, I ruined myself financially and professionally being an alcoholic.
- 9:50Speaker 2: So and and you also have a number of friends
- 9:53Speaker 2: in various walks of life, and so it's so at
- 9:57Speaker 2: your table, you probably had three d different levels of
- 10:00Speaker 2: financial uh situations. You probably had people that are millionaires,
- 10:05Speaker 2: You probably had some people that are just.
- 10:06Speaker 3: You know, comfy, and then there's you.
- 10:10Speaker 2: You know, it's not like you're holding up a cardboard
- 10:12Speaker 2: sign that says, you know, will work for food or anything.
- 10:16Speaker 2: But I mean, you're not forget the alcohol thing just
- 10:20Speaker 2: for for a moment. You're you're not going to be
- 10:23Speaker 2: throwing back the stuff that they're doing just from a
- 10:26Speaker 2: financial standpoint, even if you were drinking, I don't know
- 10:29Speaker 2: if you're going to be ordering, you know, a five
- 10:31Speaker 2: hundred dollars bottle of wine. So that's one aspect which
- 10:36Speaker 2: that can get complicated enough when you're at a friends
- 10:39Speaker 2: group setting and you're out because even because me, even
- 10:43Speaker 2: as someone who drinks, I don't want to pay for
- 10:46Speaker 2: someone's one hundred and fifty dollars bottle of wine that
- 10:50Speaker 2: they ordered. And I'm not gonna drink like if I'm
- 10:53Speaker 2: if I'm having a you know, if I'm having what
- 10:56Speaker 2: I'm having and I have two of those, let's say
- 10:58Speaker 2: let's say I get two top shelf martine they're fifteen
- 11:01Speaker 2: sixteen bucks. Okay, that's thirty bucks that I've spent and
- 11:04Speaker 2: you are buying one hundred and fifty dollars bottle of wine.
- 11:07Speaker 3: I'm not splitting that check with you.
- 11:11Speaker 2: And then your situation is that additional layer of you
- 11:15Speaker 2: don't drink at all, so you're really not going to
- 11:18Speaker 2: split that check.
- 11:18Speaker 3: And I don't blame you. I'll tell you right now.
- 11:22Speaker 2: If you me and my wife went out to eat,
- 11:24Speaker 2: let's say, to Hoviers, and obviously she and I are
- 11:28Speaker 2: going to have a margarita or two, you're not. I'm
- 11:31Speaker 2: not going to expect you to split that bill evenly.
- 11:33Speaker 2: You know why, because I think about these things, and
- 11:36Speaker 2: I'm considerate. I think about other people as opposed to
- 11:39Speaker 2: just myself and my you know.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Like I said, if it had been just everyone had
- 11:44Speaker 1: a round of drinks, I would have just said, fine,
- 11:48Speaker 1: you know, and just yeah, here, I'll pay whatever, you know,
- 11:52Speaker 1: divide it by ten here, Okay, I'm not going to
- 11:55Speaker 1: quibble over what ends up being fifteen twenty bucks. I
- 12:00Speaker 1: am gonna quibble over what's gonna be a couple hundred dollars.
- 12:04Speaker 3: Absolutely, and you shouldn't feel bad about that.
- 12:07Speaker 2: And that's the thing that bugs me about this situation is,
- 12:09Speaker 2: like you said, you had some people that are like okay, yeah,
- 12:11Speaker 2: I get it, and then you had other people that
- 12:14Speaker 2: are shooting, that are shooting you the dirty looks from
- 12:16Speaker 2: across the table like you're some sort of a problem,
- 12:19Speaker 2: when they don't realize that they are the problem.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Well, so listen, I hate There are people that I
- 12:26Speaker 1: quit going to dinner with because they would sit there,
- 12:31Speaker 1: they would take a check and then like bust out
- 12:37Speaker 1: the calculator and oh well I didn't really have any
- 12:41Speaker 1: of that appetizer. So I'm not gonna it.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Ain't like that.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I'm not cheap like I am with. I hate cheap people.
- 12:52Speaker 1: You know, I go to dinner with somebody and they
- 12:55Speaker 1: want to divide up the check like that and then
- 12:56Speaker 1: they tip, like crap, I will not go to dinner
- 12:59Speaker 1: with them. That's not the case. The case is, I
- 13:02Speaker 1: just don't feel compelled to drink, you know, to pay
- 13:05Speaker 1: for your excessive drinking. And you know, especially when like
- 13:10Speaker 1: I said, you're talking about, yeah, they easily had a
- 13:15Speaker 1: thousand dollars worth of alcohol, which a nice place, and
- 13:20Speaker 1: like I said, ten people, is that really that much? No,
- 13:25Speaker 1: But I'm not going to pay an extra hundred bucks
- 13:27Speaker 1: just you know, to make their life easier or feel it.
- 13:32Speaker 1: And I am at an age now where it's like
- 13:34Speaker 1: I have come to grips with my shortcomings as far
- 13:37Speaker 1: as my professional and my status status in life, so
- 13:41Speaker 1: I don't feel compelled to big time and you know go,
- 13:45Speaker 1: oh well, yeah, okay, I'll do that too. No, yeah,
- 13:49Speaker 1: especially a couple of them, like you pick this up,
- 13:53Speaker 1: You've got no problem. But I think about rich people
- 13:56Speaker 1: is that they're oftentimes the cheapest.
- 14:00Speaker 3: The great ironies in life, they really really are.
- 14:03Speaker 1: That's they kept their money. You know, they got a
- 14:05Speaker 1: lot of money for a reason, and part of it
- 14:09Speaker 1: is they don't spend it very easily.
- 14:12Speaker 3: And they also don't like sharing it.
- 14:13Speaker 2: No, because that is also one of the one of
- 14:16Speaker 2: the truths that happen in life is when you're poor,
- 14:21Speaker 2: you're the most giving that there is.
- 14:23Speaker 3: When you're poor, you're.
- 14:24Speaker 2: Thinking, man, if I had twenty million dollars, I would
- 14:27Speaker 2: give it to this and I would do that. If
- 14:30Speaker 2: I had elon musk money, I would do this with it.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I would do that with it. But it's interesting once
- 14:36Speaker 2: you start making more money that then all of a
- 14:38Speaker 2: sudden you're like man, this is nice. I'm going to
- 14:41Speaker 2: hang on to this as long as I can, especially
- 14:44Speaker 2: if you think it may not last. So, yeah, the
- 14:47Speaker 2: whole money situation is a big enough wrinkle. Then throwing
- 14:52Speaker 2: on top of it that you know, they're drinking a
- 14:56Speaker 2: lot and you're just sitting over in the corner not drinking.
- 14:58Speaker 3: So it's a completely new layer to it.
- 15:01Speaker 1: And it's not and my unwillingness to pay for their
- 15:05Speaker 1: drinking has nothing again to do with I'm sober and
- 15:08Speaker 1: they're drinking. And it's not like a refusal to pay
- 15:11Speaker 1: for alcohol or some moral thing. It's just, you know,
- 15:17Speaker 1: I didn't partake in this, so I'm not paying for
- 15:20Speaker 1: it to you know, to the tune of a couple
- 15:23Speaker 1: one hundred dollars. I got better things to do with
- 15:25Speaker 1: a couple of hundred bucks.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Yeah, it's still a financial thing. And it's not like
- 15:29Speaker 2: as someone who's been sober for ten years, next Monday again, congratulations.
- 15:33Speaker 2: And I know this personally, it's not like you're over
- 15:36Speaker 2: there looking at everyone judging. You're not over there like
- 15:40Speaker 2: just shaking your head like, oh their order, you really, Dan,
- 15:43Speaker 2: you're getting another round. None of that ever happens. You're
- 15:46Speaker 2: not being like a jerk about it. You're not, you know,
- 15:49Speaker 2: being pushy with the sobriety or anything on anybody else.
- 15:52Speaker 3: So to me, you were very.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Very perfectly pleasant social guest. And it and and look
- 16:05Speaker 2: and this is I'm trying to think gathering my thoughts here.
- 16:10Speaker 2: I've been in this scenario as well. There was one time,
- 16:14Speaker 2: way way back. I mean, this is back when even Trey,
- 16:17Speaker 2: you and I I'm not even sure if you and
- 16:19Speaker 2: I had really even met yet. This would have been
- 16:22Speaker 2: two thousand and two or three maybe. So my cousin Josh,
- 16:30Speaker 2: My cousin Josh's two years older than I am. So
- 16:35Speaker 2: he is getting married, right, this is back in the
- 16:37Speaker 2: early two thousands. He's getting married. He invites me on
- 16:40Speaker 2: his on his bachelor party trip. His bachelor party trip
- 16:43Speaker 2: is happening in Austin. I'm like cool, sounds like fun.
- 16:46Speaker 3: So I go.
- 16:48Speaker 2: And we're on a pontomboat on Lake Travis for the
- 16:52Speaker 2: for the day, and then that night we're supposed to
- 16:54Speaker 2: go to dinner and then go to you know, to
- 16:56Speaker 2: the Yellow Rose. We're doing it up, you know, for
- 16:58Speaker 2: an Austin bachelor party. Early two thousands.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Yeah, a twenty something Austin bachelor party.
- 17:07Speaker 2: And keep in mind, in two thousand and two, two
- 17:09Speaker 2: thousand and three, this guy's twenty one, twenty two, so
- 17:12Speaker 2: and these guys are all a couple of years older.
- 17:14Speaker 3: So I mean, yeah, it's we're all in our twenties.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Is all going to be ugly.
- 17:18Speaker 2: And I was the ugly guy because not because I
- 17:22Speaker 2: had had so much to drink, but because I don't
- 17:24Speaker 2: do well with motion sickness.
- 17:27Speaker 3: So this is what happened. We go to the lake.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Yes, I drink, I have some beers, but even in
- 17:33Speaker 2: my early twenties, I had already built up a tolerance
- 17:35Speaker 2: enough to know that I know what my limits are,
- 17:37Speaker 2: and I know that there's other plans later in the day.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Point is we're on the lake all day and I'm
- 17:43Speaker 2: a little nauseous from the boat. Then we get in
- 17:46Speaker 2: the car to drive back to town, and you're familiar
- 17:49Speaker 2: with Lake Travis enough to know that's kind of a
- 17:51Speaker 2: windy road. And I got real car sick, real fast,
- 17:56Speaker 2: so much so that I had to hang my head
- 17:59Speaker 2: out the window and puke it all up.
- 18:02Speaker 3: So I was not feeling good.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Get back to the hotel, crash for like four hours,
- 18:07Speaker 2: wake up and I just feel like ass. But I
- 18:12Speaker 2: have to rally because it's my cousin's bachelor party, right.
- 18:15Speaker 2: So we go out to dinner to a Mexican place
- 18:17Speaker 2: and I eat.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I think.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I ordered some food of some kind, but it wasn't
- 18:26Speaker 2: much and I ordered no booz.
- 18:28Speaker 3: I felt terrible.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Meanwhile, the twelve other guys at the table are all
- 18:33Speaker 2: ordering top shelf Margarita's. Those guys at this point in
- 18:39Speaker 2: their life because they all went through Jesuit and you know,
- 18:42Speaker 2: Bishop Lynch and stuff, they've all got good jobs already.
- 18:46Speaker 2: I was still starting out in a radio career, so
- 18:49Speaker 2: I was super poor, like you on your birthday dinner
- 18:53Speaker 2: outing the other day.
- 18:55Speaker 3: I when the.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Check came, I was not about to pay for everybody's
- 18:59Speaker 2: four and five hop shelf Margarita's each when I had
- 19:03Speaker 2: a tostada, and.
- 19:06Speaker 3: I didn't care when that check came.
- 19:08Speaker 2: And I have still where I was sitting at the
- 19:09Speaker 2: opposite end of the table and this one guy was like, Hey, Dan,
- 19:13Speaker 2: where's yours blah blah blah, And I was like, Oh,
- 19:15Speaker 2: it's in there. He's like, but we need like sixty
- 19:20Speaker 2: or seventy bucks out of you. I'm like, no, I
- 19:21Speaker 2: threw in my twelve, Like, but we're splitting the check.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, I threw in mine, and I
- 19:28Speaker 2: covered my cousin's stuff. I didn't have a sixteen dollars
- 19:34Speaker 2: margarita in two thousand and two, let alone five of them.
- 19:38Speaker 2: I'm not paying for that same thing as you. I
- 19:42Speaker 2: got the dirty looks the rest of the night. Everyone
- 19:44Speaker 2: just thought I was a cheap skater or whatever. And
- 19:46Speaker 2: it's like, I don't care. And it was amazing to
- 19:49Speaker 2: me that they couldn't understand I'm not paying for something
- 19:53Speaker 2: beyond what is reasonable.
- 19:57Speaker 3: On so many levels.
- 19:59Speaker 2: And I don't understand the mentality of people that don't
- 20:02Speaker 2: understand that. How do you not grasp that you're doing
- 20:05Speaker 2: the math on the check? You see on the bill,
- 20:09Speaker 2: I pointed out, I'm like, this is what I had.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I had this thing right there and that's it. Now
- 20:14Speaker 2: look at all of your stuff. How does how does
- 20:17Speaker 2: that compute in your mind?
- 20:19Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 20:19Speaker 3: I don't get it.
- 20:20Speaker 1: And that's you go. You know, hey, the birthday boy,
- 20:25Speaker 1: you know, bachelor, go, he had this. Here's my share
- 20:30Speaker 1: of this, plus mine I've contributed. You know, I'm not
- 20:35Speaker 1: paying for your excessive drinking. Uh and especially and one
- 20:40Speaker 1: of the things I do even to avoid that is
- 20:44Speaker 1: I will always pull the server aside and say, hey,
- 20:46Speaker 1: please put mine on a separate tab, so I don't
- 20:49Speaker 1: it doesn't even get into this deal of oh, you know,
- 20:53Speaker 1: we're just dividing this up. Knock yourself out. I'm not
- 20:56Speaker 1: on your tab right, My my stuff is separate over here.
- 21:00Speaker 2: And that's and that's a brilliant move on your part,
- 21:03Speaker 2: you know, as the person that's a there by themselves
- 21:06Speaker 2: and b you know you're not going to be having
- 21:07Speaker 2: all that stuff. So it makes it really simple to
- 21:11Speaker 2: tell just bring me mine.
- 21:13Speaker 1: One ordeal of you know, exactly what you went through
- 21:19Speaker 1: at a bachelor party of oh, hey we'll just all
- 21:22Speaker 1: divide it up. No I'm not, I'm not doing that,
- 21:25Speaker 1: and yeah then okay, Well it's just you know, it
- 21:28Speaker 1: makes it so much easier for the server. I go,
- 21:31Speaker 1: I go here, Server, come here. But then after that,
- 21:34Speaker 1: I'm like, you know what, I'll make it even easier.
- 21:36Speaker 1: I put myself on a separate check y'all gonna all
- 21:39Speaker 1: funck off. Want more Treehouse? Check out our YouTube exclusive

- 22:18Speaker 2: pair of Cowboys tickets for Thursday night October. I forget
- 22:24Speaker 2: which date off the top of my head, but it's
- 22:26Speaker 2: the game Thursday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at
- 22:30Speaker 2: AT and T Stadium in Arlington. He went out and
- 22:33Speaker 2: bought himself a pair of tickets, and he's like, you
- 22:34Speaker 2: know what, I can't go.
- 22:35Speaker 3: I'm going to give this to some clients.

- 23:04Speaker 2: Get you a free roof inspection, which you probably need
- 23:07Speaker 2: done anyway, and you get your name thrown on the
- 23:09Speaker 2: hopper for a pair of Cowboys ticket.
- 23:11Speaker 3: It's pretty cool deal.
- 23:12Speaker 2: Eight three three cook DFW or the website cookdfw dot com.
- 23:18Speaker 2: All right, today is Wednesday, August twelfth, twenty twenty six.
- 23:23Speaker 2: Let's celebrate today with some birthdays. There are some good
- 23:28Speaker 2: ones today, Trey, and a lot of them. Are you
- 23:30Speaker 2: ready buckle up for birthdays? Olympic women's rugby medalist Iona
- 23:40Speaker 2: mar Is thirty ilanamar Ilonamar.
- 23:46Speaker 3: I think that's it.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I know the one that we all sort of,
- 23:50Speaker 2: I don't know, necessarily fell in love with, but captivated
- 23:52Speaker 2: the captivated America's attention, and all of a sudden we
- 23:56Speaker 2: all knew about women's rugby A because they were badass
- 23:59Speaker 2: and be because she is the badass of the badasses
- 24:03Speaker 2: on that team.
- 24:04Speaker 3: She is thirty today.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Just running hose over left and right, and that's not
- 24:12Speaker 2: a sexist thing to say hose. I would have said
- 24:14Speaker 2: I said that about Herschel Walker and Earl Campbell in
- 24:16Speaker 2: their days they also ran over hose so that I
- 24:19Speaker 2: mean that as a non gender based hoe situation.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Don't.
- 24:25Speaker 2: No, I don't, actually I do, but the punchline was
- 24:31Speaker 2: too easy.
- 24:33Speaker 3: But no, I don't, I do.
- 24:37Speaker 2: But no, let's see. So a happy birthday to her.
- 24:42Speaker 2: She is thirty today. Pete Sampres from the Tennis World
- 24:45Speaker 2: is fifty five. Pete Sampres did something to me back
- 24:48Speaker 2: in the nineties that I thought was impossible.
- 24:50Speaker 3: He made me love tennis.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Between him and Andrea Agassy, I was glued to tennis
- 24:56Speaker 2: for like a year.
- 24:58Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 25:00Speaker 1: I yeah, I I loved that era of tennis. Sampress
- 25:08Speaker 1: was so good, and I mean up until Rafa came along.
- 25:16Speaker 1: But he he played with such finesse that it was
- 25:19Speaker 1: it was interesting to watch. But yeah, that was that
- 25:25Speaker 1: was a very entertaining time.
- 25:28Speaker 2: The matches between him and Andrea Agassy were so much fun.
- 25:32Speaker 2: I mean, Andre Agassy was a guy that was already
- 25:35Speaker 2: on the scene when Pete Sampras showed up, and they
- 25:38Speaker 2: couldn't have been more opposite than each other. I mean,
- 25:41Speaker 2: Andrea Agassy was loud and boy, I mean he wasn't
- 25:45Speaker 2: like Jim McEnroe loud, but I mean like he was
- 25:48Speaker 2: he had hair, and he had endorsements.
- 25:50Speaker 3: He was like the rock star of tennis.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And here comes Pete Samprass, who's sort of like the
- 25:55Speaker 2: Kenny g but he's just smoking everybody.
- 25:59Speaker 1: Agasy was like the boy of tennis when he first
- 26:01Speaker 1: came out. Yeah, the long hair, which no one had.
- 26:04Speaker 1: You know, it had been a very clean cut sport
- 26:08Speaker 1: as far as the way they dress, haircut, facial hair, everything. Yeah,
- 26:12Speaker 1: he was very much the the rebel as it were.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Which is why I still remember.
- 26:19Speaker 2: One of his great endorsements was the Cannon Rebel m HM,
- 26:22Speaker 2: one of the great one of the great promotion collaborations.
- 26:27Speaker 3: But it was interesting. This is how much I was
- 26:29Speaker 3: into tennis back in the day.
- 26:30Speaker 2: I watched it so much, not just you know, with
- 26:33Speaker 2: Pete Sampers and Andrea Acacy, but even watching him with
- 26:35Speaker 2: the women's tennis with Steffi Graft because that was at
- 26:37Speaker 2: the time when she was so freaking dominant. I even
- 26:41Speaker 2: know that Pete Sampras was a phenomenal tennis player because
- 26:44Speaker 2: he could beat you at your own game, and so
- 26:48Speaker 2: he could be the guy hanging out on the baseline
- 26:50Speaker 2: just smashing winners all day, or he could also do
- 26:54Speaker 2: the serve and volley coming up to the net and
- 26:56Speaker 2: play with that sort of touch and finesse. Most tennis
- 26:59Speaker 2: players are only good at one or the other. He
- 27:02Speaker 2: was able. He was capable of kicking your ass either way.
- 27:07Speaker 2: That's how much I was into tennis back in the day.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I am shocked, though, I fully and maybe they're
- 27:16Speaker 1: not of age yet to really but you really would
- 27:19Speaker 1: have thought if there was ever an offspring that we're
- 27:21Speaker 1: going to be great tennis players, it would be the
- 27:23Speaker 1: Andre Agassi Stephanie Graff kids.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I remember the first thing I thought of when I
- 27:29Speaker 2: heard that they hooked up. I was like, I don't
- 27:30Speaker 2: know if this is for love or just for legacy,
- 27:34Speaker 2: because my god, their kids, Oh Jesus, I have no
- 27:38Speaker 2: idea what their kids do.
- 27:39Speaker 3: I don't honestly, I don't even know if they have kids.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Hang on.
- 27:45Speaker 2: I will say this though, like, even as someone that
- 27:47Speaker 2: doesn't have kids, and I don't think anyone should ever
- 27:50Speaker 2: be forced to have kids based on some sort of
- 27:52Speaker 2: societal expectation. I do have a little bit of hypocrisy
- 27:57Speaker 2: running through me when it comes to truly get exceptional humans.
- 28:01Speaker 2: When you've got an Andrea Agassy and a stepfie Graff
- 28:04Speaker 2: in a relationship. I kind of feel like they should
- 28:07Speaker 2: have kids just because their genetics are so freakishly good
- 28:13Speaker 2: that I want to see their offspring do stuff.
- 28:15Speaker 1: So that they had two kids and they said, uh,
- 28:20Speaker 1: they did not push them to become tennis players, and
- 28:23Speaker 1: I'm guessing they didn't because at this point they would
- 28:27Speaker 1: be twenty five and twenty three years old.
- 28:29Speaker 3: So that's that's old by tennis standards.
- 28:31Speaker 1: Huh. That doesn't seem like a waste of genetics, though
- 28:35Speaker 1: it does.
- 28:36Speaker 2: Right, It's such a hypocritical thing because again, even I
- 28:39Speaker 2: think it's great that they didn't push their kids into tennis,
- 28:44Speaker 2: but I kind of wish they had.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Yeah, like I get it. But at the same time,
- 28:53Speaker 1: I mean, it seems like a waste of talent.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting how that happens though, because look, I
- 29:01Speaker 2: realized that.
- 29:02Speaker 1: But I also will say this, of all sports you
- 29:09Speaker 1: read about tennis players, their lives are pretty miserable, like
- 29:13Speaker 1: because they're generally singled out as talented in the I
- 29:18Speaker 1: would say seven to nine year old range, and then
- 29:21Speaker 1: that's their life because most of them they're teetering on
- 29:26Speaker 1: becoming pro mid teens. Yeah, so I do understand that,
- 29:32Speaker 1: especially stephie Groff, who was German.
- 29:37Speaker 3: I think so.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and their training regiment, especially because part of that
- 29:43Speaker 1: goes pre pre democracy and going back to the Cold War.
- 29:48Speaker 1: What they did to kids for you know, they thought
- 29:51Speaker 1: were athletes was even worse than anything Americans dreamed of.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, that's just a tip of the uh,
- 29:59Speaker 2: that's just a tip the iceberg.
- 30:00Speaker 3: When it comes to birthdays.
- 30:02Speaker 2: George Hamilton is eighty seven Hollywood Icon and the Tanning King.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Like we mentioned the Cannon Rebel camera collaboration as being
- 30:14Speaker 2: phenomenal with the Tennis Rebel Andrea Agassy, I think one
- 30:18Speaker 2: of the great advertising campaign collaborations was George Hamilton and
- 30:24Speaker 2: Extra Chrispy Kentucky Fried Chicken. Bruce Greenwood is seventy. It's
- 30:33Speaker 2: an actor. You may not know him by his name,
- 30:35Speaker 2: but you know him by his face. He played He
- 30:38Speaker 2: was in Star Trek as Captain or Admiral Pike. I
- 30:43Speaker 2: believe The Resident thirteen days Gerald's game. Yeah, you see
- 30:49Speaker 2: his face and you're like that guy. Yeah, he's been
- 30:51Speaker 2: in tons of stuff.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Did you ever watch The Resident?
- 30:54Speaker 3: I did not.
- 30:58Speaker 1: Fascinating show.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Uh.
- 31:01Speaker 2: He had a guest He had a guest turn on
- 31:03Speaker 2: mad Men for a handful of episodes.
- 31:05Speaker 1: He was really good in that the Resident starts it
- 31:07Speaker 1: is and it's sadly it was a very good show.
- 31:11Speaker 1: And then and I'm not saying this to be political
- 31:15Speaker 1: or anything else. It's just a fact post COVID, a
- 31:20Speaker 1: lot of riders got very woke and and what they did,
- 31:26Speaker 1: and especially in medical stuff, and the show takes a
- 31:30Speaker 1: dramatic turn, and it also loses some keep players because
- 31:35Speaker 1: a couple of the people were like, Hey, family's too important.
- 31:38Speaker 1: I don't. I don't. I want to be close to family,
- 31:40Speaker 1: not doing this crap. Uh. But it's worth a watch,
- 31:47Speaker 1: especially like the first three seasons.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I haven't seen it, so I can't speak to the
- 31:55Speaker 2: quote unquote wolkeness of it. I will say, just like
- 31:59Speaker 2: at a certain time, I think that word gets thrown
- 32:01Speaker 2: around too much. But I will say absolutely Hollywood at
- 32:05Speaker 2: different times. And it's in a phase right now where
- 32:09Speaker 2: it gets real preachy. Even if I agree with some
- 32:13Speaker 2: of the stuff they say. Even if I disagree with
- 32:15Speaker 2: some of the stuff they say, sometimes I don't like
- 32:18Speaker 2: being spoken down to.
- 32:20Speaker 1: So I'll give you the greatest example in my that
- 32:23Speaker 1: I can think of. There was a show called New
- 32:25Speaker 1: Amsterdam Ryan Eggeld, and it started off. It was a
- 32:29Speaker 1: fantastic show.
- 32:31Speaker 2: Was this the one with Tyler Bean bearded guy from
- 32:36Speaker 2: Tucker and Dale Versus Evil?
- 32:39Speaker 3: I think it is? Let me.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Yes, Tyler Leban, Yes, yeah.
- 32:49Speaker 3: I wanted to watch that show because I'm a huge
- 32:51Speaker 3: fan of Tucker and Dale Versus Evil. I love Tyler Bee,
- 32:53Speaker 3: but I never did.
- 32:54Speaker 1: And he starts off great, and then you know, towards
- 32:59Speaker 1: the ladder part. I mean, like one of the storylines
- 33:02Speaker 1: was a kid got a brain tumor because of racism,
- 33:07Speaker 1: and I'm not making that up. So it just it went.
- 33:11Speaker 1: It went sideways real fast after post COVID, all right,
- 33:17Speaker 1: but it started off. I love Ryan Eggels. He was
- 33:20Speaker 1: great in The Blacklist and phenomenal show. All right.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Some mother birthdays if at.
- 33:28Speaker 2: Nicole Brown fifty five, best known as Shirley on Community.
- 33:32Speaker 2: She's also been in tons of game show talk show appearances.
- 33:38Speaker 2: She was also the one in the elevator in Avengers
- 33:41Speaker 2: Endgame with Tony Stark and Captain America. She's the one
- 33:47Speaker 2: that recognizes Captain America and then rats him out to
- 33:49Speaker 2: security and she says that there was this guy in
- 33:53Speaker 2: a beat Nick in the elevator.
- 33:56Speaker 3: She was so community. He was a big one, and
- 34:00Speaker 3: then she was.
- 34:02Speaker 2: She was also Dwight's co worker in the office when
- 34:05Speaker 2: he when he worked at Staples.
- 34:07Speaker 3: That's a pull for you. Peter Kraus.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Peter Krause is sixty one, best known nowadays for his
- 34:13Speaker 2: role in the TV show Nine to one one. Other
- 34:16Speaker 2: people may remember him from Parenthood. I remember him first
- 34:20Speaker 2: in Six Feet Under on HBO, but but he will
- 34:26Speaker 2: forever in our hearts for me and Trey be one
- 34:30Speaker 2: half of the legendary show that did not see enough
- 34:33Speaker 2: light of day Sports Night.
- 34:35Speaker 1: Yep.
- 34:36Speaker 3: Love that show.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Yeah, that show again. I feel like if Robert Gillem
- 34:46Speaker 1: doesn't have a stroke and that is that show maybe
- 34:51Speaker 1: survives another season or two. But phenomenal show.
- 34:57Speaker 2: It was such a great show. It was Aaron Sore
- 35:00Speaker 2: pre West Wing and ABC f' with that show so much.
- 35:08Speaker 2: The executives just couldn't keep their hands off of it.
- 35:11Speaker 2: And if you go back and watch that show, you
- 35:15Speaker 2: can see it, you can hear it. It was a
- 35:19Speaker 2: show that at one point had a laugh track because
- 35:21Speaker 2: the executives thought it was too smart and therefore it
- 35:24Speaker 2: needed it so that people watching it knew where to laugh.
- 35:28Speaker 3: I mean, you talk about.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Just a classic example of media executives getting too much
- 35:35Speaker 2: creative control over something and just almost ruining it.
- 35:40Speaker 3: That's a great one.
- 35:43Speaker 1: You're absolutely correct. And the other thing that made it
- 35:46Speaker 1: so stupid, and it goes to one of those things
- 35:49Speaker 1: that media executives do is that when they don't really
- 35:52Speaker 1: understand something, they have a tendency to really jack with
- 35:57Speaker 1: it or if they feel like they can't control it.
- 35:59Speaker 1: One of the thing, and this is really hard to
- 36:01Speaker 1: explain now, but at the time, late nineties, this is
- 36:08Speaker 1: a show based on the boom of Sports Center. You know,
- 36:13Speaker 1: Sports Center wasn't a thing even in the early nineties.
- 36:16Speaker 1: But then you get Keith Oberman, Dan Patrick Berman, I mean,
- 36:21Speaker 1: all these big personalities and Sports Center. I mean, it's
- 36:25Speaker 1: it's nightly viewing you are not gonna miss, especially the
- 36:29Speaker 1: Sunday night big show. You weren't missing that show, and
- 36:34Speaker 1: if you did, you know, you knew it came on
- 36:35Speaker 1: again at midnight and you were gonna watch it then.
- 36:39Speaker 1: So you already had people just fascinated by this and thinking,
- 36:45Speaker 1: and they wanted to watch the show just because they
- 36:47Speaker 1: felt like maybe given a little insight into the what
- 36:49Speaker 1: goes on behind the scenes. And yeah, they just could
- 36:55Speaker 1: not help to just kept jacking with that show. And
- 37:00Speaker 1: but in its premise and especially the first season, it
- 37:04Speaker 1: was magical.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Yeah, such a great show. Happy birthday. Peter Crusse sixty one.
- 37:13Speaker 2: Casey Affleck is fifty one, baby brother of Ben, Academy
- 37:17Speaker 2: Award winner for Manchester Manchester by the Sea. He was yes,
- 37:22Speaker 2: also in Goodwill Hunting Ocean's eleven Gone Baby Gone, phenomenal
- 37:26Speaker 2: actor in his own right. You know, there are just
- 37:28Speaker 2: some parents that you gotta think they sit back and go,
- 37:32Speaker 2: look at what I have created. The afflic parents got
- 37:36Speaker 2: to feel that way. The Kelsey parents got to feel
- 37:39Speaker 2: that way.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I feel like the Affleck parents. I think Ben has
- 37:45Speaker 1: you know, made them. Ben's been a little bit of
- 37:48Speaker 1: a roller coaster. Ironically, Casey seems to be the more
- 37:51Speaker 1: straight and narrow one these days.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Ish, but he even had like some like issues early
- 37:56Speaker 2: Ocean type stuff as well.
- 37:58Speaker 3: So I mean, look at look.
- 38:00Speaker 2: They have contributed mightily to the creative industry and to
- 38:04Speaker 2: Hollywood in general. So as parents, you got to think, yeah,
- 38:07Speaker 2: look at what we did. And then also they got
- 38:10Speaker 2: to sit back and think, and they also keep us
- 38:12Speaker 2: on our toes.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Side note, I saw a story I think it
- 38:17Speaker 1: was yesterday that Brad Pitt announced that he was drinking
- 38:20Speaker 1: again after seven years of sobriety.
- 38:23Speaker 2: Thank you for bringing that up, because since you were
- 38:25Speaker 2: on the cusp of ten years of sobriety. I meant
- 38:29Speaker 2: to bring that up at some point this week. It's
- 38:32Speaker 2: such a weird thing in Hollywood now or just in
- 38:35Speaker 2: society when on one end you say I am no
- 38:39Speaker 2: longer drinking, and now we're getting the backside of it
- 38:43Speaker 2: where someone says and comes out and says, I am
- 38:45Speaker 2: back to drinking now.
- 38:48Speaker 3: What the hell?
- 38:49Speaker 1: You'd be amazed it. Actually, your chances of sobriety decrease
- 38:55Speaker 1: every year because so many people get the thought of
- 39:00Speaker 1: I can control it now, and maybe you can't. Maybe
- 39:05Speaker 1: you can't. Generally you can't, and and it's generally when
- 39:09Speaker 1: people in AA they call it when you start drinking
- 39:11Speaker 1: again or using you called you've gone out, and it's
- 39:16Speaker 1: typically a horrible experience because you don't have the same
- 39:19Speaker 1: tolerance or anything else, and it ends up gets very bad,
- 39:23Speaker 1: very quick. And I just find I found it fascinating that,
- 39:29Speaker 1: especially after all the crap he's going through with his family,
- 39:32Speaker 1: of all the kids, you know, dropping his name and
- 39:34Speaker 1: everything else, why would you decide that drinking is a
- 39:39Speaker 1: good course of action, Especially you've read some stories where
- 39:42Speaker 1: people were, you know, found him fairly unbearable in his
- 39:46Speaker 1: drinking days. So yeah, it's it's it's a fascinating phenomenon,
- 39:53Speaker 1: and it happens far more than you would think people
- 39:56Speaker 1: with I mean twenty plus years, all of a sudden
- 40:00Speaker 1: and they show back up in AA and you know
- 40:02Speaker 1: they're getting a desire chip, which is, you know, like
- 40:04Speaker 1: the first thing you get. It's you know, you want
- 40:06Speaker 1: to stay sober for twenty four hours and like, holy crap,
- 40:10Speaker 1: which I one of the things that keeps me sober
- 40:13Speaker 1: is I didn't have the money to go to rehab
- 40:16Speaker 1: or treatment or anything else. I had to do it
- 40:19Speaker 1: by you know, taking warm vodka shots to wean myself off.
- 40:24Speaker 1: But I still I've first forty five days, I'm sweating
- 40:29Speaker 1: through sheets at night shaking. I mean, it was a
- 40:33Speaker 1: miserable experience, so miserable that I never want to do
- 40:36Speaker 1: it again. You rod Dog did, Oh yeah, I didn't.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Celebrities.
- 40:41Speaker 2: Celebrities get like vacation retreats and things to clean up
- 40:45Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Now, my friend Amy Newman, that you know quite well
- 40:49Speaker 1: and who is responsible for my sobriety. She and I
- 40:52Speaker 1: have always joked that if either one of us wins
- 40:56Speaker 1: the lottery, we're going to rehab, not because because we
- 41:00Speaker 1: need it, but because we feel like we got cheeted
- 41:03Speaker 1: on the front end of sobriety, and you know, we
- 41:05Speaker 1: want to spend you know, sixty ninety days finding ourselves
- 41:08Speaker 1: and doing yoga and eating you know, you know, all
- 41:13Speaker 1: natural organic food and smoothies and massages and all the
- 41:17Speaker 1: stuff that you get with these really nice.
- 41:19Speaker 2: Rehabs, and you can really enjoy them on this and
- 41:23Speaker 2: you'd be able to really enjoy them because you've already
- 41:25Speaker 2: got the alcohol kicked.
- 41:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I don't have to go through any of
- 41:28Speaker 1: the of the withdrawals or anything. It's just it's it's
- 41:31Speaker 1: a sixty day spa retreat me. That's how I want
- 41:36Speaker 1: to find myself.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Look, you've already kicked the booze.
- 41:41Speaker 2: What's wrong with also doing a little eat prey love
- 41:43Speaker 2: for yourself? For two three months. Yeah, and at least
- 41:46Speaker 2: at least yours wouldn't be court ordered. This segment of

- 42:49Speaker 1: tomorrow that is absolutely just every time when I read
- 42:55Speaker 1: the story, I laughed and you can. You can't make
- 43:01Speaker 1: this ship up because if it was just one, you'd go, okay,
- 43:09Speaker 1: yeah mate, but the.
- 43:10Speaker 3: Two, yeah, she doubled up. Baby.
- 43:17Speaker 2: That is coming up tomorrow's episode, which you can be
- 43:20Speaker 2: a part of as we record it. Uh if you're

- 43:28Speaker 3: All right, so that's tomorrow. Uh so great tease, thanking Trey.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Now, before we get to the tiny Wiener update, No, Tray,
- 43:37Speaker 2: that's not my new blog. Uh, we need to talk
- 43:41Speaker 2: about the man in Florida. Of course, a man was
- 43:45Speaker 2: caught sleeping in a jet Blue plane lavatory. Now, the
- 43:50Speaker 2: headline threw me off at first, because I was like,
- 43:52Speaker 2: what do you mean?
- 43:53Speaker 3: Caught?
- 43:54Speaker 2: Like some guy was on a flight and he fell
- 43:56Speaker 2: asleep in the bathroom for some reason, maybe because he
- 43:58Speaker 2: had too much first clash him, I don't know. Maybe
- 44:01Speaker 2: he took a pill to take the edge off of
- 44:04Speaker 2: flying and he passed out in the bathroom during a flight.
- 44:07Speaker 2: That's more found in the bathroom or discovered asleep in
- 44:10Speaker 2: the bathroom. But then I started reading more of the
- 44:14Speaker 2: story than I realized, Oh, no, he was actually caught
- 44:18Speaker 2: because it wasn't the scenario I assumed it was.
- 44:23Speaker 1: Yeah, the headline is misleading on this one. This one
- 44:26Speaker 1: really makes you number one go. Airport security still has
- 44:31Speaker 1: some problems, Yes.
- 44:32Speaker 3: It does.
- 44:34Speaker 2: A Florida man is facing felony charges after deputies say
- 44:37Speaker 2: he snuck onto a parked Jet Blue plane at Fort
- 44:42Speaker 2: Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport and fell asleep in the plane's bathroom.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Thirty two year old Samuel Prescott Lackey climbed a perimeter fence,
- 44:52Speaker 2: entered a secured maintenance area, and boarded an airbus A
- 44:55Speaker 2: three twenty that was undergoing maintenance. Workers discovered him during
- 44:58Speaker 2: a routine inspection early on Sunday morning. Deputies say the
- 45:01Speaker 2: incident delayed aircraft operations and cost Jet Blue about twenty
- 45:05Speaker 2: four hundred bucks. He's been charged with burglary, criminal mischief,
- 45:09Speaker 2: and trespassing on critical infrastructure.
- 45:14Speaker 1: I mean the rest of this is basically homeless people
- 45:16Speaker 1: doing homeless shit.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it's you know what, like they you
- 45:23Speaker 2: know what, they really they really just want to clean
- 45:25Speaker 2: bathroom like the rest of us on a road trip or.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Just a place to sleep and out of the elements.
- 45:33Speaker 2: And but.
- 45:35Speaker 1: They're they're sneaky bastards they've.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Do don't ever underestimate homeless ingenuity.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Oh no, they're up there with with potheads as far as.
- 45:51Speaker 3: M the you know, the saying necessity is the mother
- 45:55Speaker 3: of invention.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Uh huh.
- 45:57Speaker 2: It's absolutely true when it comes to potheads and homeless people.
- 46:00Speaker 2: And sometimes I've been diagram overlaps, but when you get
- 46:04Speaker 2: someone really desperate for something, they will find a way.
- 46:09Speaker 2: A homeless person that is trying to find a way
- 46:11Speaker 2: out of the elements to get some you know, peace
- 46:14Speaker 2: and quiet, a place to sleep. Jumping over a perimeter
- 46:18Speaker 2: fence at an international airport and finding your way into
- 46:21Speaker 2: a park jet bathroom sounds pretty good. I mean, there's
- 46:26Speaker 2: layers of protection there that you don't have to worry about.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Now.
- 46:30Speaker 2: I'm traveling right now and we're in Portland, which has
- 46:35Speaker 2: a pretty fair amount of homeless people in the area
- 46:38Speaker 2: we're staying. It is known as the Pearl District, so
- 46:40Speaker 2: it's not downtown, and there's another area of Portland called
- 46:44Speaker 2: Old Town where I guess I've been told there's more
- 46:46Speaker 2: of the homeless shelters over there, so it's worse. But
- 46:49Speaker 2: where we are is you know, ten fifteen blocks or something,
- 46:52Speaker 2: so it's close enough to where there is still a
- 46:55Speaker 2: fair amount of homeless contingent around here, and it's amazing
- 46:59Speaker 2: to see some of their ingenuity. If they don't have
- 47:03Speaker 2: a tint. They collect umbrellas to kind of create their
- 47:07Speaker 2: own little tinted dome, so it protects them from the elements. Also,
- 47:14Speaker 2: they're really really messy. Not all of them, but some
- 47:17Speaker 2: of them are really really messy, which is truly fascinating
- 47:20Speaker 2: to me because to me, it's sort of like if
- 47:23Speaker 2: you're inside your home and you're on your couch, it's
- 47:26Speaker 2: not normal to be surrounded by your trash. Right, Some
- 47:30Speaker 2: of these homeless people, especially one I call Pigpen, who
- 47:33Speaker 2: was hanging out by a bench outside the place where
- 47:35Speaker 2: we're staying here for like two days, she just surrounded
- 47:40Speaker 2: by her own trash. Never picked it up, Like it's right,
- 47:48Speaker 2: it's one thing if you're homeless. And she was a
- 47:50Speaker 2: horrific drunk because she was chugging margarita, like bottles of
- 47:53Speaker 2: like the like pre mixed margarita stuff.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Just surrounded by trash. When you wake up, just pick
- 48:00Speaker 3: that up.
- 48:01Speaker 1: I don't, Oh god, I mean.
- 48:08Speaker 2: Like, it's one thing to be sleeping on a bench
- 48:10Speaker 2: outside because you're homeless, but just to be but to
- 48:13Speaker 2: be messy on top of it.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Come on, let's see if I can find uh. If
- 48:24Speaker 1: you ever want to see uh Google, like Austin Homeless
- 48:29Speaker 1: Barton Creek.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Oh no, uh like at the Springs, Oh god, I.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Mean they they absolutely trashed just giant areas. Yeah, because
- 48:42Speaker 1: of that thing. It's amazing. They'll pick up trash that
- 48:47Speaker 1: they think is useful, but they do not throw it.
- 48:50Speaker 1: They will just leave it wherever when they have no
- 48:52Speaker 1: use for it anymore. But yeah, that's a I mean.
- 48:58Speaker 1: And I have seen plenty of videos from the Pacific
- 49:02Speaker 1: Northwest Portland, a lot of them. Like I said, if
- 49:04Speaker 1: you haven't seen them, the David Attenborough AI narrated like
- 49:10Speaker 1: tweaker Safari I think is what they call it. Absolutely yeah,
- 49:15Speaker 1: first class.
- 49:17Speaker 2: I've seen it with my own eyes without the Attenborough voiceover.
- 49:22Speaker 2: So I'd like to see some of that. And it's
- 49:24Speaker 2: interesting because there's like this lady that I'm talking about
- 49:27Speaker 2: that you know, was sleeping on the I'm staring at
- 49:29Speaker 2: the bench right now.
- 49:30Speaker 3: I'm on the third floor. I can see it.
- 49:32Speaker 2: She's not there now, but she's since moved off. But
- 49:37Speaker 2: at one point there were like three different responses to
- 49:41Speaker 2: her that people would walk by and they'd be.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Worried about her or whatever.
- 49:44Speaker 2: There was There's like a neighborhood response team in a
- 49:48Speaker 2: van came and checked on her. Someone called nine to
- 49:50Speaker 2: one one one night, and I know that because I
- 49:53Speaker 2: saw them looking at her.
- 49:54Speaker 3: They were on the phone. And then the fire department
- 49:57Speaker 3: showed up.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Fire department was there for like, I don't know, a
- 49:59Speaker 2: minute and a half, and I was like, man, that
- 50:01Speaker 2: we can do uh. And then a third was like
- 50:04Speaker 2: a neighborhood patrol thing that checked on it. So, I
- 50:06Speaker 2: mean there's people checking on them and stuff.
- 50:09Speaker 3: So but and I'm.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Like, my heart I hate seeing homeless people, Like my
- 50:19Speaker 1: heart hurts for them, like I and especially I mean,
- 50:25Speaker 1: and this sounds bad, I know, but especially like if
- 50:31Speaker 1: they have dogs, they have animals. I am even more
- 50:35Speaker 1: Like before we had that last freeze in January, I
- 50:37Speaker 1: went around and I tried to give little packages of
- 50:40Speaker 1: some food and dog food to these people and hope
- 50:43Speaker 1: they found a place to stay. Yeah, and we just
- 50:47Speaker 1: as a society have done a horrible job. And a
- 50:50Speaker 1: lot of it is government, like Houston is actually doing
- 50:53Speaker 1: a great job of homelessness. But they what they did
- 50:56Speaker 1: is they quit paying all these external groups and they
- 50:58Speaker 1: basically said, hey, we're going to have a city department
- 51:01Speaker 1: and we're going to take care of this on our
- 51:02Speaker 1: own and have done so quite effectively at about, you know,
- 51:07Speaker 1: twenty percent of the cost of everyone else.
- 51:10Speaker 3: Good on them.
- 51:11Speaker 2: Yeah, it's such an interesting thing with the homeless thing, because, yes,
- 51:16Speaker 2: homeless people can be very necessity, mother invention can the
- 51:23Speaker 2: ingenuity is really fascinating at times, the survivability and the
- 51:26Speaker 2: things that they have to do to just sort of
- 51:28Speaker 2: just live. And sometimes, like you, my heart goes out
- 51:31Speaker 2: to the homeless. Sometimes it doesn't, because I've known people
- 51:34Speaker 2: sometimes that have been homeless and it was basically their
- 51:37Speaker 2: choice and certain choices they've made that led them there
- 51:41Speaker 2: versus some homeless that and this is a common one
- 51:44Speaker 2: I see is a schizophrenic type. I mean a lot
- 51:48Speaker 2: of the homeless people I see are people walking around
- 51:50Speaker 2: having conversations with themselves and it has nothing to do
- 51:53Speaker 2: with anything they've done. It's just an affliction that they've
- 51:56Speaker 2: got and it's and they're just kind of cast out.
- 51:59Speaker 1: I think. I think it still holds true that at
- 52:02Speaker 1: least half of homeless people are bipolar schizophrenics that just
- 52:06Speaker 1: won't or take their medicine and they ended up kind
- 52:11Speaker 1: of getting lost.
- 52:13Speaker 2: Yeah, but it this is and this is an interesting
- 52:16Speaker 2: rub when it comes to the homeless, especially here in
- 52:19Speaker 2: the Pacific Northwest. You can play a game which is
- 52:24Speaker 2: homeless or hippie, because sometimes.
- 52:27Speaker 3: You can't really tell.
- 52:30Speaker 2: And because there's some people that I assumed were not
- 52:34Speaker 2: homeless just because they had a Patagonia backpack, but then
- 52:37Speaker 2: I've seen them four or five times nosing through their
- 52:39Speaker 2: trash and I'm like, oh, they actually are homeless. You
- 52:42Speaker 2: will see someone sleeping on a park bench with their
- 52:45Speaker 2: head resting on a north Face coat. I swear to god,
- 52:49Speaker 2: I was taking the dog for a walk at the park.
- 52:52Speaker 3: This was this morning. This morning.
- 52:54Speaker 2: A guy's on the bench, lying down, got a coat
- 52:59Speaker 2: over him, got a Blend make it over, and he's
- 53:00Speaker 2: got a couple of umbrellas.
- 53:01Speaker 3: He's surrounded by trash. He is scrolling things on his
- 53:06Speaker 3: Apple Watch. It's amazing to see. I saw a guy
- 53:13Speaker 3: at the same park last week.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Homeless, but he was scrolling social media on his phone.
- 53:23Speaker 3: It's amazing. So some of them, yeah, my heart goes
- 53:27Speaker 3: out to him. Others I'm like, you just asshole, all right.
- 53:36Speaker 2: Finally, the tiny Wiener updig Michael Phillips, the man who
- 53:40Speaker 2: is self professed to be the man on earth with
- 53:43Speaker 2: the tiniest penis micro penis at point three to eight inches.
- 53:47Speaker 2: We followed his story a little bit over the last
- 53:50Speaker 2: couple of years. He went public on television, online, He's
- 53:53Speaker 2: talked to TMZ, He's talked to morning shows on television,
- 53:58Speaker 2: and he finally turned that into a fundraiser to get
- 54:03Speaker 2: money for some type of an enlargement procedure for himself
- 54:10Speaker 2: and now and that he has raised enough money for it.
- 54:14Speaker 2: He initially in his fundraisers said I need about six
- 54:16Speaker 2: thousand dollars for this enlargement procedure. He raised over twice
- 54:20Speaker 2: that amount, something like thirteen thousand, five hundred dollars, which, honestly,
- 54:25Speaker 2: I thought, you know, people throw money at really stupid
- 54:27Speaker 2: stuff these days.
- 54:29Speaker 3: I thought he would have gotten a lot more money
- 54:31Speaker 3: than that.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I would have thought anything until I read what he's
- 54:36Speaker 1: having done. I would have assumed that a penis enlargement
- 54:40Speaker 1: procedure was far more expensive. I mean, a good boob
- 54:43Speaker 1: job is going to run you, you know, probably twelve
- 54:45Speaker 1: grand these days, so I expected it would be a
- 54:49Speaker 1: lot more.
- 54:50Speaker 2: I'm with you, like, for six thousand dollars, what's he
- 54:54Speaker 2: gonna get like, what's the procedure we talked before, you know,
- 54:58Speaker 2: because short of a transplant, what can you really do
- 55:03Speaker 2: for that affliction? Right, So Michael told TMZ his appointment
- 55:09Speaker 2: is scheduled for August seventeenth with a doctor in Charlotte,
- 55:12Speaker 2: North Carolina. This is where he'll get an injection of
- 55:16Speaker 2: semi permanent dermal filler, which will increase the girth of
- 55:22Speaker 2: his penis by about ten to thirty percent. In his case,
- 55:26Speaker 2: that's roughly point five to one point five inches, depending
- 55:31Speaker 2: on the amount of product used.
- 55:34Speaker 3: So for six thousand dollars.
- 55:36Speaker 2: He's gonna get an injection of some filler that will
- 55:41Speaker 2: not increase his length, but his girth by half an inch,
- 55:46Speaker 2: maybe up to one and a half inches.
- 55:48Speaker 1: Which I'm so confused at this, I huh, I would
- 55:52Speaker 1: have thought, being that, you know, the stat of being
- 55:56Speaker 1: the world's smallest penis is point point three to eight inches.
- 56:00Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what he's got.
- 56:02Speaker 1: And he and the story talks about that he's had
- 56:04Speaker 1: doctors now tell him that he just needs to wear
- 56:05Speaker 1: it depends because he has problems urinating. I I'm guessing
- 56:13Speaker 1: because he can't find it or it's just can't. I
- 56:18Speaker 1: don't know, but yeah, you would have thought he was
- 56:21Speaker 1: gunning for some length, not with.
- 56:24Speaker 3: I'm with you, man, when it's when? When? When? When? When?
- 56:27Speaker 2: You so, let me get this straight. You can make
- 56:38Speaker 2: it wider, but not longer. When you're down there, can
- 56:42Speaker 2: you stretch it out a little bit of a procedure
- 56:46Speaker 2: like just see what happens?
- 56:52Speaker 1: You know, makes she just look down at your own
- 56:56Speaker 1: and go, hey, good job, buddy.
- 56:58Speaker 3: Yeah, it really does make you.
- 56:59Speaker 2: It appreciate what you have no matter what it is,
- 57:02Speaker 2: as long as it's not that I'm okay, I am okay.
- 57:09Speaker 1: Yeah, that's ah. I feel like here's the other thing.
- 57:15Speaker 1: If you're gonna raise money, shoot for the stars, don't
- 57:20Speaker 1: don't tell people at six thousand. I mean, I think
- 57:24Speaker 1: that's probably one of the things that where he didn't
- 57:26Speaker 1: raise a lot of money. He should have. You been saying, yeah,
- 57:30Speaker 1: you know it's gonna be a fifty thousand dollars procedure.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Well, clearly he's not a big picture guy.
- 57:43Speaker 1: Oh, it's the little steps.
- 57:47Speaker 3: Micro steps, micro steps, dribbles.
- 57:50Speaker 2: Oh, if you like what you heard here today, share
