Transcript
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Time for the 49ers Rush Podcast.
- 0:30[SPEAKER_00]: and here's your host, John Chapman.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: What is going on, Fayford?
- 0:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's absolutely incredible to be with you guys today.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: It is the first day of camp report.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_01]: It is happening.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_01]: We have 49ers practice, we have updates.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_01]: We have so many questions answered from depth charts to rotations to, yeah, guess what, yep, injuries, not one but two.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so we've got a lot to get through today.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, so very, very excited to have you with us have to say thank you to our executive producers Cory Robbins 49ers George 365 David deal.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, without them to show doesn't happen.
- 1:12[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of new updates and a lot of positives.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: So like.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_01]: this is the ebb and flow of camp.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't think that there has been really any major injury, news, uh, vaderian low, um, walked off with a ankle injury, and quote, this is from Chris Forster, acting head coach, which is weird to say, um, hopefully not too serious.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: That's kind of the update that we got.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: And then also,
- 1:43[SPEAKER_01]: Matt Barrows had that reported.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: So he didn't even finish practice.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: So you're already getting some of the injury news, but there's a lot of positives to the injury news, okay?
- 1:54[SPEAKER_01]: You had the initial pup and NFLists come out, but really wasn't too bad if I'm going to be if I'm going to be honest like
- 2:04[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, the Kyle Shanahan news, which we haven't talked about yet, had the accident.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_01]: He was on hand for practice today.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: He was out in the middle of the field during team with John Lynch watching practice, had a cast on his hand.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge sunglasses, all that kind of stuff.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: So that's awesome in and of itself.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: So you're very thankful.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: And again, just a constant reminder, you're always allowed these
- 2:30[SPEAKER_01]: incidents that take place to check your own life and be grateful for what you have you never know when your last day's going to be and can be taken any time.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so thankful that you know Kyle Shanahan's okay.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Man, allow these checks to impact your life in a positive way.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: don't take for granted what you have.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_01]: And so I'm very thankful just to be here with you guys for another season.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: This is year 10 man.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: We just finished year 10 rolling over to year 11.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_01]: We've been doing this show a long time.
- 3:01[SPEAKER_01]: This is episode 1,676 to the 49ers rush podcast.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're new here, man, hit that subscribe button.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: We go nowhere.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be here pretty much every single day for the rest of the year.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you to all the hashtag CC, the countdown crew
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and right here, uh, appreciate your band mail.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: How did Fred Warner and Bostaluk?
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: Fred Warner was full go.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: hype enough to crowd, you know, lead the breakout, all those different things level 100 Nick Bowson cleared and probably one of the best news back to the initial public, Nick Bowson even on there.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's he a full go, no, he's not.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: He was kind of off to the side doing his own thing, individual drills, you know, working on getoffs, some bad works, some agility, all those things, but
- 3:50[SPEAKER_01]: way ahead of where he was kind of supposed to be.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that that is really, really important, you know, as he full practice, no.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: But he's out there.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that that is huge.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: And also Drake Greenlaw, Drake Greenlaw's back, baby, cleared that's huge.
- 4:08[SPEAKER_01]: S. Diver, Broncos about that.
- 4:10[SPEAKER_01]: Drake Greenlaw's missed a lot of time.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's missed a lot.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: In the fact that he's out there practicing already and you know, I put this out there.
- 4:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's my favorite player in the NFL.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: I hated Drake Greenlaw.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not being with the 49ers last year.
- 4:24[SPEAKER_01]: So I tweeted that out as these outshired picked it up.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_01]: He retweeted it and put out there.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, the heart emoji with the hands and all that stuff.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: Like you love to see it.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: Like as these is in his own training camp.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_01]: And he's taken time to like.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: and comment on Drake Greenlaw posts, right?
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like, God, you just got love.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_01]: Some of the stuff that's going on there.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that that's awesome.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Key on why it's a full go after the gunshot injury.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_01]: You get some depth at the defensive end room and Ricky Pierce saw this is it first training camp to not carry an injury designation into training camp.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe that's the side of things to come.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_01]: Ricky Pierce saw stays healthy.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: could be dangerous and a positive way and a positive way.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is a big deal.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: I really really do.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: So there are good news to the injury front, the major negative, two players again, the dairy and low who you paid pretty good money, four and a half million dollars to to come in and be that number three swing tackle backup left tackle, which is
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: left with an ankle injury, day one.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_01]: Now in Ricate Cruz bumped up and Chris Forcer had some, you know, positive things that he stepped up into that role.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that that's a big deal.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: You never know, like, whenever you have the draft and you get the annual comment, well, we didn't think that they could beat the guys we have, that's assuming all the guys you have stay healthy.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes players get injured.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_01]: Imagine that 40 dinosaurs fans.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's sometimes you need guys that can step up.
- 6:01[SPEAKER_01]: Enrique Cruz was not a player that I figured would factor in much at all this season.
- 6:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is a long-term developmental play that you drafted in the fifth round, offensive tackle for kids.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: Well, guess what?
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: Might not be that.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: He might be suing tackle number one.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that the veterinarian low injury is that, you know, crucial.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, you still got a lot of time.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: You can't for preseason.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to be alright.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: But it just goes to show you.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: You don't know things change quick.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: And we could say the same thing about the Sean Stripley, the 49ers first official draft picking out a first round or pick 33rd, top of the second round.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, he was gonna be one of those guys that just gets a learn behind Mike Evans and all those things.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_01]: Well, Christian Kirk, Captain Kirk, goes down in the first practice, walks off the field, halfway through the very first practice.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: Well, guess what?
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: If that takes place, the Sean Stribbling is not gonna be your backup X anymore.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna be a starting slot, slot wide receiver.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: and he looked good today.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: Lots of clips out there on number one five.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: He looks the part.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: You see him huge.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: I mean dudes huge.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: Just a shade under six three two ten long arms huge hands.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: You tell he spends times in the weight room.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Snagging balls out of the air that are off platform.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_01]: Love seeing that elite hands.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: We saw that again, Rush Crush, one of my fair players in the straff class,
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: You think about the Kyle Shattahead doghouse, right?
- 7:33[SPEAKER_01]: Has it really applied to first and second round wide receivers?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: They played automatically, Debo, Brandon, IU, Dante Pettis.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Those are the first and second round picks that have been drafted since Shattahead's been here at wide receiver.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_01]: Stribbling fits into that mold.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: Ed, Ed, Ed, Ed, Ed, he was getting reps with the first team, what's the wide receiver reps?
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I have to kind of pull back a little bit here.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_01]: The wide receiver's rotated at a different
- 7:59[SPEAKER_01]: pace that everybody else.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: So all throughout training camp, you're going to hear so and so it's working with the ones and you have to take a lot of that with the grain and salt because wide receivers don't operate like whatever the offense goes all right, one's out there, one's refers to offensive line and quarterbacks and sometimes running backs and sometimes tight ends.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: Why receivers are rotating every other play because they're running a go route.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, we got to run another play.
- 8:25[SPEAKER_01]: So that wide receiver who was with the ones Mike Evans or whomever.
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: He has to step out and jog all the way back to the thing.
- 8:31[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, the number two wide receivers are already in there with the one offensive line in quarterbacks.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: So.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: understand quarter or wider severs are always functioning on a different pace and rotation.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: So even though somebody's taking a pass from Brock Perti does it quite necessarily mean they're the starters or the ones, but you are getting to shot scribbling out there working with Brock Perti and the first off it's a line in those things.
- 8:58[SPEAKER_01]: And if Captain Kirk's down and does missed time
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: Then yes, that is going to be an issue.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_01]: A shot dribbling will be out there with the ones.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: I think it notes on, let's see what happens there.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to see what happens there.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now, another negative that I want to get through I want to get through the negative is I hate the negatives.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: Alpha Collins being on the pub, physically unable to perform.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: John Lembs said that he should be activated in the second kind of window, which is right before the preseason games.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of the way that they break up this whole whatever you have training camp.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: get to the Dwight Clark Day, then you start the preseason and, you know, practices against the other team to join practices, you're doing against chargers and the Raiders, or sorry, chargers and Tennessee Titans, but once that's done, that's the second window, and they're expecting him to come back.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: He had that shoulder surgery that he played through right after the season.
- 9:55[SPEAKER_01]: You got to get him out there.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: He has to elevate his play, Alfred Collins,
- 10:00[SPEAKER_01]: some of the best moments of the year last year, you know, that punch out goal line, strip sack, and fumble recovery of Kyron Williams against the ranch.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: You don't win that game without him.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: And then he would took part in the fourth down over time, stop as well.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_01]: But the consistency of Alfa Khan's not there.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: I'm the biggest Alfa Khan's fan out there.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: I want him along, Warren, too I predicted the pick last year.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_01]: Before the second round, he even started.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_01]: He was a rush crush, very high on that player.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: He lost early too often.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: Now you bring it also a diggy zoo was going to be the starting three tech BGAP defensive tackle.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: Alpha column is going to play the plug or roll.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: He got to get out there and play.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: He got to get out there and get the snaps in meanwhile CJ West Grace and Houghton.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: Those guys getting more reps with the ones now because Alpha columns is out, right?
- 10:47[SPEAKER_01]: There's an opportunity cost positive and negative to each one of these issues.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: If they're missing time, Alfred Collins, guess what?
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: There are now starter snaps available for others.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: CJ West, we all love.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: Can he get good against the run?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_01]: Horrible against the run, his rookie year.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: Great against the past, Russian.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: One of those sub-packaged, bravo group, rotating defense attack was as great.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: And you're gonna earn a starting spot why Alfred Collins is out, which should be CJ West's mentality.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: You got to get consistent against the run game.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: You have to.
- 11:23[SPEAKER_01]: You just have to.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Now, stick it with defense of tackles and quality run game, 40 hours, bring back a familiar face.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin, give it, what are my favorite players?
- 11:33[SPEAKER_01]: Now, is he a high impact player?
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: No, he will not be, even if he does make the 53, which I don't think that he will.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_01]: David Gibbons was an undrafted free agent back in 2019.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: That was the Bosa Depot Green Law, Mitch Wissnowski, Draft class, he's part of that group.
- 11:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's been with the Niners forever.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't been anywhere else.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: And the Niners love him because he is the undersized three-tech role.
- 12:01[SPEAKER_01]: But he's one of the best technicians in the defensive tackle room since he showed up.
- 12:05[SPEAKER_01]: He's the most undersized guy.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: Smallest defensive tackle for the air to have.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_01]: But he splits the double team with the best of him.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_01]: Why technique, hand usage, make gets skinny in the hole.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's a textbook, palms to chest, whatever you get the double team is the three technique, right?
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: The center and guard are blocking you or the tackle center.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: There are tackle guard are blocking you.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: Your point of attack whoever you're lined up on the shade.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: You get skinny and drop at me, he doesn't better than anybody.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: So you get a little bit more of that veteran experience leadership and probably the youngest defensive tackle room, upside room in the NFL with Kevin Gibbons returning, I kind of like it, um, released Evan Anderson, which is a bummer, but you needed veteran depth and you needed snaps.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: you're going to get that with Alfred Collins out guess what you've got somebody that can step in and play that big role vet style got all that kind of savviness right that that's the Kevin given thing man I I I freaking love it so I thought that that was a big deal negatives and we've got a bunch of I've got a bunch of snippets just from practice reports that have been coming out.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to the 49er's media team messed up the very first press conference for Chris Forster, you know, maybe it's only Brits conference and head coach ever and then they had it ready to go live and they you know, they they botched it, but that's okay.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's just kind of where they are.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and You know, here's what I'll say.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go through some practice reports stuff.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'm way behind on the chat.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get through it.

- 15:06[SPEAKER_01]: So let's get through some of these camp report tidbits.
- 15:10[SPEAKER_01]: Let's start with the debt charge.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to Brad Graham.
- 15:13[SPEAKER_01]: He has been crushing at RSF, Raj 49ers out there crushing Matt, lively, we got Kim, Inman, we were surfing the web and watching everything.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: Wow, wow, you don't have to.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's the whole idea.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_01]: And we give you everything that is there.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: I could be at training camp.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're moving.
- 15:29[SPEAKER_01]: The Chapins are moving this week.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I am at home, packet boxes and, you know, doing all kinds of stuff and whatever else.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: I hate that.
- 15:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's like that.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, this is the live situation.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: So depth chart.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: zero shockers here if you've been with us for this off season.
- 15:48[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I think we went five for five on all of our predictions on depth chart.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby, starting left guard.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's going to change.
- 15:57[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really don't, um, I think that he's going to hold that job down the entire time.
- 16:05[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that he's going to be the starting left guard week one Robert Jones is a better run blocker.
- 16:11[SPEAKER_01]: I think Connor Colby with the experience being in the system last year getting all those starts.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: I think the left guard spot, I think Connor Colby's going to hold it down now.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: Carver Willis does he have something to say about that?
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a little bit too much of an adjustment for him this year to compete at left guard, especially early, who knows.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: If Carver Willis wins that job, much higher ceiling than Connor Colby does.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: much raw player, much more inconsistent player, which Connor Colby was inconsistent last year as well, but I think he's going to take strides.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: Ronaldo Green, starting number two corner, I think that is going to stay the same shout out to Raj.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: He had the video clip very first player out for
- 16:54[SPEAKER_01]: got to love a vet established that show it up hungry first one out on the field we'll see if that maintains net hobs not a player that was seen out there on the practice field today so that is a little interesting not sure what's going on there hopefully everything's okay but Ronaldo Green the starter at the number two spot but Jack Jones maybe if Jack Jones gets a chance to work with the ones I don't think he
- 17:23[SPEAKER_01]: I fully expect Ronaldo Green to hold down that job, but we saw him get benched a lot last year, just very low football IQ and just man, he takes the bait too often, hopefully he remedies that going into his third year.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: The talents there, Ronaldo Green's fun play.
- 17:37[SPEAKER_01]: I like Ronaldo Green.
- 17:38[SPEAKER_01]: Just got to get rid of those.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, headscratcher, dumb decisions, uh, that's a DB group, Nick Martin working out there with the ones and three linebacker sets.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: Got to love that.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: That's who exactly why I wanted to have that.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure there's going to be sub-rotational stuff there.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Nick Martin being out there early.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, just the idea of Fred Warner, Drake Rainlow, Nick Martin.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Barnes completes love that love that love that he had to work his way up the debt chart last year.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was so raw coming off the injury didn't play, you know, the previous year at Oklahoma State with the injury.
- 18:15[SPEAKER_01]: Ready to go at training camp and all those things, but how to work his way up.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: Man, he's starting there now.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that that is such a big deal.
- 18:25[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: Love that Nick Martin is there.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I expected.
- 18:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want to see.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: Jaiya Brown, Malik Mustafa for your first two safeties.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: That was fully expected.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure that he'll hold on to that job.
- 18:39[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Marquis Seagull is going to find his way into the starting lineup.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_01]: I do believe that.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it take place by week one.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: Ah!
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, uh, and it, uh, we'll, we'll see there.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_01]: And Ashley Davis will see what he could do to Sean Stribling, getting work, a lot of that at coincides with, uh, Christian Kirk, Captain Kirk, uh, not finishing practice halfway walking in and Jordan James.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: It was the running back number two had a very good practice, but no pads are on.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: So you kind of got to take that with the grain of salt.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: That's where that is.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, as far as depth chart and rotational pieces, hopefully that answers a lot of the early questions.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: None of these battles are over.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: None of these battles are finalized by any stretch.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: But 40 Irish Irish podcasts, I don't like to shoot the old horn too much, but Colby, yeah, Ronaldo Green, Nick Barton, yeah, Giant Brown, yeah, and Jordan James's number two, yeah, we went, that's put five on it, five for five.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: I'll take it.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's like the old RV's commercial is five, four or five, anybody?
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, just me.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Other practice reports that came out,
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: Probably the play of the day, shout out to Brad Graham, highlighting this, you can't take video during this time, but Brad does such a good job.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans, deepball over Diomador, the North from Brock Perti on a deepball completed.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Love seeing that.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge.
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: You want as much chemistry as possible with Brock Party and brand new wide receiver.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans and the fact that you look at who Mike Evans is played with in his career.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: Wide receiver or quarterback wise.
- 20:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's been through the gamut man at Tampa Bay back to Josh Freeman, Jody and Zell.
- 20:23[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you Tom Brady, you're talking Baker Mayfield.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_01]: You're just James wins.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: You're going
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: probably even Mike Glennon, I bet he even played with Mike Glennon back because they now you step in with the Brock Perti, Brock Perti ate the best of those quarterbacks by any stretch.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_01]: He sure is held like the worst.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans is a vet vet vet, capital V, capital E, capital T, like he's the most vet that there is to be able to step in and just get day one chemistry.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, like, come on, baby, you've got to love that.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_01]: And my Kevin's is huge.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_01]: We got some small corners.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: 40 hours have smaller corners, small physical corners.
- 21:07[SPEAKER_01]: My Kevin's in big doom.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm with you, Sid, right there.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: The story is, my Kevin's cooking already.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go!
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, humble over hype, right?
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: That was the shirt he wore.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 21:18[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, Stripling showing out, too.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't see much about Piersaw to eat much, but he was out there.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: So that is enough.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: That is a highlight in and of itself.
- 21:31[SPEAKER_01]: We are three years in.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: This is the first time Ricky Piersaw has been there day one.
- 21:36[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is a big deal.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Stripling, showing the part,
- 21:40[SPEAKER_01]: The wide receiver room for the 49ers.
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think was the biggest weakness, especially heading into playoffs.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: As a bottom five wide receiver group last year, if I want to be honest, it really, really was.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: This year, no way you can say that border line top 10 if everybody stays healthy, big if, especially with Christian Kirk already banged up.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how that goes.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah,
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: Ed, yeah, shout out to David Limbardi.
- 22:14[SPEAKER_01]: He's always doing a good good job says Malik.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: Mustafa had exposed to pass break up against Ricky Pearsaw, which was seemed like a good pass from Perti, but you're never going to hear Limbardi say one negative thing about Perti take that for what you will.
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Stripply made a couple nice catches, warners, Fred warner, CMC B. Ramello, who was dropping into coverage.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: Look at that.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to get some of that.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_01]: that that is a staple of where he Morris with the multiple looks he's going to do a lot more fire zones that's huge one he blitz is like crazy top three in blitz percentage last year with the falcons but a lot of fire zones which is
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: You blitz a linebacker, but you drop a D-Lineman.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_01]: So it's not a blitz in the fact you're still only bringing four players.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: A blitz is by definition, five or more players going after the quarterback, right?
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to get some of those multiple looks.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_01]: And you can do that with Ramelahite.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: He has played off ball linebacker.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's dropped it coverage for seasons.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is some of the played six college seasons with four separate colleges.
- 23:17[SPEAKER_01]: He's got some of that versatility that you could do.
- 23:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to be a pass rusher predominantly, but you can shake it up a little bit there.
- 23:27[SPEAKER_01]: Um, like to see that, like to see that, uh, Jalen Graham had an interception off Mac Jones back.
- 23:32[SPEAKER_01]: Jones had two interceptions on the day, not too much to look at there, um, they did.
- 23:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not big on county and interceptions and all those kind of things in camp, but just trying to put out as much information that we can gather as possible and allow you to come to your own kind of takes and all those things.
- 23:53[SPEAKER_01]: We are not in the force feeding takes.
- 23:57[SPEAKER_01]: our job is to inform and make being a 49er's fan more enjoyable.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: That is what we do here at the 49er's rush, right?
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a fan.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not an insider.
- 24:07[SPEAKER_01]: I will be at some of the training camps, but with us moving the lives of just bananas right now, but after the move we move Friday.
- 24:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'll be at a couple of the.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: trading camps and stuff.
- 24:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'll let you guys know how that goes.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: By the way, if you guys have extra training camp tickets, hit me up 40 hours rush podcast to Gmail.com.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: I would be happy to pay for those and help in any way that I can.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: It would like to be at more practice, but man, it's just been crazy in the Chapman line.
- 24:32[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Ramelo, hi.
- 24:33[SPEAKER_01]: Shout out to Cam and men.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: He put out some of the individual drill film, which they're allowed to film that part.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_01]: And he's just showing the defensive ends going through bad work and agility drills and bend drills and pastoral drills.
- 24:48[SPEAKER_01]: And man, when you see 94 out there, Ramelahite, third round rookie, he looks different.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_01]: Now, that's to be expected, whenever you talk about the defensive hits that the 40 fighters have, they're all kind of these 65 to 62 70 guys, Ramelahite 63 to 40, right?
- 25:09[SPEAKER_01]: is several inches shorter, 30 pounds lighter, it makes sense.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_01]: Because the defensive end rotational room and death chart, it's peppered with these full size buck style ends.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's one guy, he should look different, but you are getting the boxes checked with this idea of, hey, this guy's been agility, change to direction, start stop, all those things as advertising.
- 25:39[SPEAKER_01]: going, you know, C-C-M-O-Go, C-Key-On-White-Go, you see, you know, even Nick Bosa went through this jail, which he didn't go through a lot, but the fact he's practicing his huge, then you see where Bella Hight, you're just like, damn.
- 25:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that looked different.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_01]: These are not the
- 26:09[SPEAKER_01]: Ramello hi answers that call.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's the only guy on the roster that answers that would like one more, but that's okay.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_01]: You take what you get
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: that's where that is.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_01]: So, we got to like that.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: You got to like that.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_01]: So, those are kind of my camp snippets that came out.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the press conference from Chris Forster, again, the 49er's media team botched that one.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: They had it out live, forgot to turn it on.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: They canceled it, put it back
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, they're trying to get midseason form already.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_01]: I would argue there.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: Kind of is midseason form for them.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: But whenever that gets out, we'll go through that process.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're just catching up with us again, probably the biggest and
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: worst news, um, two players injured, day one, it's the 49ers.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: What do you expect?
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, the dairy and low ankle injury.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see how serious that is at Chris Forster and Christian Kirk left practice halfway through, uh, walked off with the trainer did not return.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: Those are kind of the two biggest issues.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now,
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you are planning to travel to go see the 40 owners play at all this year, we're going to be in Australia.

- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: Those in the chat will get to them.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_01]: Maria right here.
- 29:13[SPEAKER_01]: Stripling stayed behind after practice.
- 29:15[SPEAKER_01]: Keep working with the wide receiver coaches.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_01]: Great attitude.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_01]: Work ethic.
- 29:18[SPEAKER_01]: Remember his his father was a career Marine.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, he has been and again, if you've been with us for our roster count down series, we dive in to the background and upbringing and, you know, what these guys have been through to get here.
- 29:34[SPEAKER_01]: experiences what to Sean Stripley brings over 3000 snaps in his career.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: He was a 10 out of 10 experience hard worker everywhere.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: He showed up to Ole Miss Captain Day 1.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: That's what this guy was.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's who he is.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: The work ethic, the maturity, if you've watching the interviews with the Sean Stripley.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: You do not get the diva wide receiver mentality one bit.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: You watch and play football, not a diva wide receiver.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_01]: Look at me, look at me, look at me, type guy.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: He does the dirty work, lunch pill mentality that played out Washington state, okay?
- 30:10[SPEAKER_01]: That is not, if you're flamboyant, that's not the part of Washington you go to.
- 30:15[SPEAKER_01]: Then he goes to Oklahoma State, again, still water.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna fall into that as well.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_01]: Ole Miss, a little bit different, but he's been through it.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: And the fact that Christian Kirk didn't finish practice.
- 30:29[SPEAKER_01]: I hate to keep saying this.
- 30:32[SPEAKER_01]: There isn't how an opening.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: There is now an opening.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: It might only be a day or two, but hey, you are the top trap choice of the 49ers.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Pick 33rd overall.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: First pick the second round.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: You get that chance.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: You do not look back.
- 30:50[SPEAKER_01]: Seize the moment.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: Take control.
- 30:55[SPEAKER_01]: show so much that they cannot get you off that field.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_01]: Take the choice out of their hands.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_01]: It's what you got to do.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's what you got to do.
- 31:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, love it.
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: And that's the cool thing.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's like you see the video clips and the pictures.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: You see the Sean Stribling and you're just like, oh, okay.
- 31:13[SPEAKER_01]: That is a grown man.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_01]: A big old dude.
- 31:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is a big old dude.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: He is.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: Um, seeing a lot of Alfred Collins stuff, um, yeah, I don't understand this at all English right here.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hearing people say, Alfred Collins doesn't suit where he Morris defense.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_01]: No, not it.
- 31:33[SPEAKER_01]: I disagree with that completely.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I don't I.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: It looked, there's a lot of misconceptions about where he Morris out there that do not make sense.
- 31:48[SPEAKER_01]: Rahim Morris was with the Tampa two four man front, okay?
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't know some of this defensive terminology, I'm gonna, I don't want to talk over people.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_01]: Look, he was there for the, like, think about what John Lynch played in at Tampa Bay.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_01]: Like, he was coached by the same person.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was the understudy of Kiffin.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_01]: That's the four two Tampa two defense.
- 32:14[SPEAKER_01]: That is what Reheem Morris had been a part of for over a decade.
- 32:19[SPEAKER_01]: Then he goes to the Rams.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: And it's now studying under Ryan, right?
- 32:29[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, not, not Ryan.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_01]: The old Cowboys head coach, the goober dude.
- 32:32[SPEAKER_01]: Shoot man, he's one of my favorite Twitter followers every.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_01]: He doesn't tweet too much anymore.
- 32:36[SPEAKER_01]: But he took over the odd front, the three four multiple shell look, gosh, I could see in here the voice, he's the head coach of the Cowboys for a while.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_01]: You guys gotta help me out here.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the defense according to anyway?
- 32:47[SPEAKER_01]: He took over, gosh, I see his freaking name.
- 32:51[SPEAKER_01]: right there somebody you're going to help me out in the chat here.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go to the cat.
- 32:56[SPEAKER_01]: This is bother in the hell out of me man.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: Wade not wouldn't wait.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, this is bother in me.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, y'all y'all got to help me out here.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to, I need to go to Cowboys history that I'm looking at their head coaches.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get this and I know this is like terrible, but I could not move forward without this answer.
- 33:18[SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, I'm just going to be so pissed off.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: Not eberfluous, wait Philips, wait Philips, he took over for Wade Philips and so Wade implemented his scheme drafted his players ran out of front, all those different things.
- 33:34[SPEAKER_01]: takes over for Wade Phillips who'd had a wonderful job.
- 33:36[SPEAKER_01]: The defense was great and adapted his game to the three four was freaking awesome at that.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like incredible at that.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: Then he goes back to Atlanta and does a multiple defense.
- 33:48[SPEAKER_01]: There were a lot of four man fronts.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they do some of that five man, which is like a three four odd look all those things.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: But people there is a massive
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: massive near-sighted focus on what Ricky Morris did recently versus what he's done his career.
- 34:06[SPEAKER_01]: And John Lynch alluded to this in yesterday's press conference.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_01]: John Lynch, he said, to this dude grew up and learned on a mochi kiffin.
- 34:14[SPEAKER_01]: That is the exact same front we've run here.
- 34:17[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 34:19[SPEAKER_01]: for people that are like, wow, well, this fit the new, whatever, no, no, no, no, no, no, they just brought back Kevin Gibbons, who has been in the same system for seven years, it's not a change, the difference is you're adding variables, that is Raheem Morris, right, you're adding changeups, you're adding flavor, you're adding spice, Robert Solis, the most vanilla defense of play, call her in the NFL.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: simplicity, all gas and all breaks.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_01]: He wants to simplify everything and everybody just play football.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_01]: We're not going to have misdesignments.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_01]: We're just going to do what we do.
- 35:00[SPEAKER_01]: never been a big sat guy either, really hasn't.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_01]: You can go back to the time as a jets, back with us.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: The major that 2019 year was different, but you had Buckner, Armstead, Bosa, D4.
- 35:11[SPEAKER_01]: That was like a special, special group.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe the best lineback in court and the history, the NFL, who had Fred Warner, Aziz, Drake Greenlaw, Aquan Alexander.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: That defense was bad.
- 35:22[SPEAKER_01]: But Raheem Morris runs the same thing,
- 35:26[SPEAKER_01]: He just doesn't do it from stagnant positions as much.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_01]: So the difference of tackles, it's not really changing too much.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: It really, really isn't.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: So some people I think are just making much to take it too much out of the Reheemorse runs a different defense.
- 35:43[SPEAKER_01]: It is different, but it's not like everybody runs multiple stuff now.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: And your base defense is gonna be four, two, five.
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: for down line men, two line backers, five DBs.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be the base for almost everybody in the NFL.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: It was base for him at the Falcons.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: now he drafted two guys that were hybrid linebackers that could do a little bit of everything and I think Nick Martin and Ramella Hydera going to be those two guys, but the defense of tackle job is not changing.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: You've got the same defense of tackle at Coach Chris Crusherick.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not going to change.
- 36:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not going to change.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_01]: So don't over complicate about picking this player and all that's and I would argue even if
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: You did have the Rehe Morris change to a true three four, then Alfred Collins is even bigger fit or better fit because then you have a true nose.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: He could play that.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: He did that at Texas, but that is not what the 49ers run.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_01]: So there's a difference between the plug-a-roll and the B-gap-roll or the traditional three-tech.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: Alfred Collins is the plug-a-ser is the prototypical three-tech.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: just there.
- 37:06[SPEAKER_01]: Natorious, appreciate the battle between Natorious and my man Tommy and the Chattas always.
- 37:11[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy needs corn the long way.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: That is true.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: I have seen it before.
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: Somebody got the way to fill up his reference, Simone quarterback, you are the freaking man.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: Took me forever.
- 37:21[SPEAKER_01]: Gavin is a sailor.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are, I'm waiting for the day where I can't even read the super chats because Tommy so unhinged, but Tommy is a friend.
- 37:31[SPEAKER_01]: Love that man disagree with them probably on most football tastes, but that's okay.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy's the freaking man.
- 37:36[SPEAKER_01]: He's the legend.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_01]: Dave, what's up, man?
- 37:39[SPEAKER_01]: Little late, but I made it time to speed for J.C. for the catch-up.
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh goodness, I've had too much coffee.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: for all that stuff.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's just where it is.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_01]: You got a two-speed chat, but I think you'd be careful out there ladies and gentlemen be careful right here Maria appreciate you
- 37:55[SPEAKER_01]: Ream has more in the bag of trips, tricks, 100% great, great point there.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: Daps of roster is, I really think he will get the most out of the players, but mixing it up more.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: We will see a lot more blitzes, a lot more stunts, a lot more fires zones.
- 38:13[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to see a lot more of that.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: And even though the players, it's not a true amoeba defense, if that's where everybody's moving around all the time, right?
- 38:24[SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to get that, but you're going to have one to two guys moving a lot more, a lot more, and again, that is a positive against the better play colors.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_01]: The strength of the strength of Robert Sala is simplicity, allowing your players to play and just play on instincts.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: The negative of Robert
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: Man, you get great play colors that know your rules and know your tendencies, exploit the hell out of them.
- 38:54[SPEAKER_01]: You look at Robert Solova's tenure when he plays against an elite, off it's a play color, do does not do well.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: It gets middling quarterbacks in subpar teams, Robert Solova dominates consistently because he doesn't give them easy, wild card plays.
- 39:11[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to execute flawlessly, 12 plays in a row, and you've got to do it every time.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're not giving you anything.
- 39:18[SPEAKER_01]: Riverboat gambler dude's got a blitz.
- 39:21[SPEAKER_01]: He's got to throw you off Rain Morris is going to do better against some of the elite plate collars and he's going to give up home run place Against guys like shudders Sanders or whatever these kind of lower tier quarterbacks of whatever because Man when you gamble if you get the gamble wrong you're in trouble.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to happen
- 39:43[SPEAKER_01]: which one's better?
- 39:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's up for you to decide.
- 39:45[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Saul has got way more top 10 defenses under his belt than where he more does.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: He more says it's super cool.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so like, there's given take there.
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: They've never had the same defensive rosters to kind of compete against each other, but we're going to see that now.
- 40:03[SPEAKER_01]: And so now is the time that you get to see that because he's stepping
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: we'll see what that looks like.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: Trent Williams, Shoutout to Matt Lively, was asked about Nick Bowsen.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_01]: He said, quote, can't even tell he had an injury.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge.
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: Now again, just remember, Nick Bosa didn't fully practice today.
- 40:26[SPEAKER_01]: He was out there doing a lot of stuff just on his own, doing some getoff drills, all those different things.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that's a big deal.
- 40:34[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is a huge deal.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: We're not in charge of practice, whatever else.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_01]: But the fact that he was out there day one, you're now talking a couple weeks, maybe first week.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't put that much.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is going to kind of endure the teammates to Kyle Shanahan a little bit more because dudes badass sucks what he went through.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: But man, this is a tight room with some elite veteran leadership and you've got kiddo, you've got Trent, you've got Brock, you've got Christian McAfrey, got Bosa, you've got also a Dickie Zua, you got Fred Warner, you got Drake Green, you got, you got, you got, you got, you keep going.
- 41:22[SPEAKER_01]: They have the leadership to overcome something like this.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: The coaching staff too.
- 41:29[SPEAKER_01]: This has been Kyle Shannon's coaching staff for a long time.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_01]: You talk about positional coaches at every single level offense defense returning from last year.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: You didn't lose a lot of the, as you lost your DC.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: You got special teams coordinator, Pat.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: But positional coaches, man, long in the tooth.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: Chris Forester, Bobby Turner, like you got all these guys back.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_01]: Why receiver scoge, flurry, like all these different, you've got a lot there, I think that it's a big deal.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: And so, man, it's not saying it's a positive.
- 42:00[SPEAKER_01]: It is not.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: I'm saying that there are positives that you can glean from it to move forward.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: I really like where the 49ers currently are if I'm going to be honest with you.
- 42:11[SPEAKER_01]: This, this is a good thing.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: not a bad thing with the way things are going right now.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_01]: In the fact that shenanigans out there day one, that's huge.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here, Maria.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: I want to see how much in Rieke can pick up in this opportunity.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: Injury suck for Daryon low.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk positives.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: You got two rookies now getting meaningful training camp snaps that they weren't projected to get.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: Enrique Cruz you're now a swing tackle and by the way Trent doesn't practice many days.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: Enrique Cruz going to be in snaps with the one if the ones if the dairy and miss is any time.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to see how ready you are.
- 42:47[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk, guess what, Sean Stribbling, Jacob Cowling?
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see it.
- 42:51[SPEAKER_01]: That's a battle right there.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: Between young guys with completely different skill sets, completely different body types, same speed.
- 42:59[SPEAKER_01]: Aw, man.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: When I was a fourth round pick that's been in the league for two years, Jacob Cowling, one of them was the 33rd pick overall, and dude's built like a brick house showed up day one and showed he belongs.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, what's up, Philip?
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: Man, appreciate.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: Glad to see you here, dude.
- 43:15[SPEAKER_01]: You were the freaking man.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Malat dropped a Brock interception.
- 43:19[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen that reported as well.
- 43:22[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that is, that is there as well.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: So, man, first day,
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: And the books like day in the 40 writers are even changing up the way in which they practice last couple years three days on one day off three days on one day off three days out not not anymore now it's two day practice one job day light walk through day hard practice day off so.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see for the crowd that says they don't change anything and they're stubborn and blah, blah, blah, blah and all those things
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: Man, things change and the 49ers do change their approach.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I wish they would do a complete overall of the, You know, health and fitness staff, but they have not the same guy has been there since 2017.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: Other people have moved on.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: But the leader, the main guy of the 49ers helped in injury staff and all this stuff.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's been there since Kyle Shanahan's been here.
- 44:22[SPEAKER_01]: He went in the head guy back then.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's been promoted somehow.
- 44:25[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, they added more physical trainers.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: They added more whirlpools.
- 44:28[SPEAKER_01]: They added that.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: They added that.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: They added that.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: They're changing the days and the method and how often they practice.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: Two hard days, one light day, one hard day, one day off.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see, and yeah, there's the name, I don't want to put the name out there, but yeah, I'm not, what would you say you do here?
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: Fred Warner on being back with Drake Greenlaw quote, it's been special since the moment he gave me the phone call in quote.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Drake Greenlaw is my favorite player, man.
- 45:03[SPEAKER_01]: He is my favorite player in the NFL one, foster parent.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's foster kid, but just he embodies what I think it means to be a 49er.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: I hated that he left last year, but grass isn't always greener.
- 45:17[SPEAKER_01]: I hope they get him the captain patch.
- 45:20[SPEAKER_01]: He's deserving of it.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot wait.
- 45:23[SPEAKER_01]: I cannot wait.
- 45:25[SPEAKER_01]: to see Fred Warner out there with Drake Green lawn.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's going to be some injuries.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to happen.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_01]: I get it.
- 45:33[SPEAKER_01]: But man, today is a good day.
