- 0:48SPEAKER_02: Welcome, welcome, welcome.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: Now tell the audience a little bit about yourself.
- 0:54SPEAKER_06: We're just humble souls.
- 0:56SPEAKER_06: We humble souls.
- 0:57SPEAKER_06: We love God.
- 0:58SPEAKER_06: We love music.
- 0:59SPEAKER_06: We love family.
- 1:00SPEAKER_06: That's pretty much what we love.
- 1:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:02SPEAKER_03: Thank you, first of all, for having us.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: Thank you to your audience.
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: And it's what he said.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: You know, we we love each other first.
- 1:09SPEAKER_03: Well, we love God first, but that love that spills over into our relationship.
- 1:13SPEAKER_03: And we just love serving people.
- 1:15SPEAKER_03: That's amazing.
- 1:16SPEAKER_03: Through business, we love serving people through our businesses.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: That's amazing.
- 1:21SPEAKER_02: Now, a lot of people, when they think of power couples, well, they don't realize that there's so many different dynamics to a power couple, right?
- 1:28SPEAKER_02: You have power couples like Miss and I who work side by side, like 24-7, we're together.
- 1:32SPEAKER_02: We have power couples, some who stay home, and the other one build a business.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: We have power couples who are building two different empires together.
- 1:39SPEAKER_02: We have one that's working in nine to five while the other one followed the dream.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: How would you describe your dynamic as a power couple?
- 1:48SPEAKER_06: I would explain it.
- 1:49SPEAKER_06: Two powers coming together.
- 1:51SPEAKER_06: That that scenario, two coming, and we started something together.
- 1:55SPEAKER_06: So we have our both of us have our individual business and industries, and then we creating some creating something together.
- 2:02SPEAKER_03: For sure.
- 2:02SPEAKER_03: You know, before we met, we were walking in our own identities and in the purpose that God had given us as individuals.
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: So when we came together, it was easy for us to find purpose together.
- 2:14SPEAKER_03: That's number one.
- 2:15SPEAKER_03: And then number two, um, we've just always been supportive of one another.
- 2:19SPEAKER_03: So I really feel like the power, first of all, we will be nothing without the power of God in our lives.
- 2:24SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 2:25SPEAKER_03: But also, in addition to that, the power comes from supporting each other's visions.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: You know, like he's a professional entertainer.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: I'm not.
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: He would love for me to probably get behind a turntable and with him.
- 2:39SPEAKER_03: I have no interest.
- 2:40SPEAKER_03: But I'm interested in what he does.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: I'm interested that it brings him joy and that I'm able to support the vision that God has given him.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: You know, I'm a real estate mogul.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: He has no interest in, you know, showing houses, you know, getting his license.
- 2:55SPEAKER_03: But he's interested in what I do and how what I do empowers other people.
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: So he's with me when I show houses and he gives his little two cents, you know, and um we pray for each other.
- 3:07SPEAKER_03: We build one another up when we're having challenges in our businesses.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: And I think, like I said, that's really where the power comes from.
- 3:16SPEAKER_03: Um, like you don't have to be doing the same thing, but are you invested in what each other is doing?
- 3:21SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 3:22SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 3:23SPEAKER_04: Exactly.
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:24SPEAKER_03: If we do have a business that we launched together.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: So what made you because you have your individual businesses, right?
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Your separate empires, but then you also have a business together.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: What made you guys want to go into business together?
- 3:36SPEAKER_06: I think it was just, you know.
- 3:38SPEAKER_06: Fell into business together.
- 3:40SPEAKER_06: You know, again, she's a realtor, she does real estate.
- 3:43SPEAKER_06: And I have a small interest, I just don't want to be a realtor.
- 3:47SPEAKER_06: So we came up where we can buy and sell property, so we're properly.
- 3:50SPEAKER_06: Yeah, we're investors together.
- 3:51SPEAKER_06: That's where he found it easy.
- 3:53SPEAKER_06: I love, I like that.
- 3:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I think he loves that.
- 3:55SPEAKER_03: He's always watching the investor shows and things like that.
- 3:58SPEAKER_03: You know, we flip property together.
- 4:01SPEAKER_03: Um you know, I think that when I say we fell into again, supporting each other, we found a role in what each other does.
- 4:11SPEAKER_03: So I'm sure he'll talk more about it, but he is a strategic planning coach.
- 4:16SPEAKER_03: And so there's a leg of his business that because he's been an entrepreneur for so long, since he was 12 years old, y'all.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: And I was talking to somebody about that today, and they were like, in the same industry.
- 4:26SPEAKER_03: I said, Yes, in the same industry.
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: He's a very consistent, steady person.
- 4:31SPEAKER_03: Um, he has found a passion in helping other entrepreneurs, aspiring entrepreneurs to achieve their business goals.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: And I love that too.
- 4:40SPEAKER_03: I coach, train, and mentor other professionals into the business.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: So we've found a place where we can do that together, seminars and trainings, and really empower other business owners.
- 4:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:54SPEAKER_03: And that's where like we found okay, we're walking in the same path with one another.
- 4:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 4:59SPEAKER_03: That's amazing.
- 5:00SPEAKER_03: That's our together business.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: What if everything you've been taught about success is wrong?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Discover why in their new book C students always win.

- 5:25SPEAKER_02: Now you talk about roles, right?
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: And figuring out the weakness and the strength.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Because, like I said, a lot of people when they think of power couples, they think of people who are side by side, right?
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: Rarely do they see that because you're in the entertainment business, killing it amazing, because you were saying from 10 to 12, doing amazing things, celebrity.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: Well, we received that.
- 5:48SPEAKER_02: And then you're in the real estate industry, mogul, a powerful woman, like I think every time there's uh we have a mutual client um who knows you and they're always saying great stuff about you.
- 6:02SPEAKER_02: So how do you figure out how can you help each other in the different industries that you're in?
- 6:10SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: Well, it doesn't feel like you're separated, but you're still helping each other out.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: How do you guys clarify those roles?
- 6:17SPEAKER_06: So, first of all, you know, you have to know your partner.
- 6:21SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you have to know your partner's strengths and your partner's weaknesses.
- 6:25SPEAKER_06: So, my strength, I'm a mathematical person.
- 6:27SPEAKER_06: I love numbers.
- 6:29SPEAKER_06: She's a more uh on the English in presentation.
- 6:32SPEAKER_06: So when it comes to the presentation, Alicia, when it comes to the numbers, me.
- 6:37SPEAKER_06: And we both pick our have our size, and that's how we come together after each and each one of us, you know, figure out, you know, the strategic plan for that particular part of the whatever we're doing.
- 6:49SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 6:49SPEAKER_06: Next thing you know, hey, she got the fashion, she got the presentation, she has the dialogue, you know, she's she can really word very, very well.
- 6:59SPEAKER_06: And I'm good with the numbers, I'm good with the math, I'm into the statistics, how many people showed up, how many people some, you know, I'm really into that.
- 7:06SPEAKER_06: And that's what really keeps us going, you know, because we both we're not on top of each other.
- 7:11SPEAKER_06: You do that, I do that, and together it's gonna work.
- 7:14SPEAKER_06: We do a lot of business workshops and seminars, and we do business after hours, and she's always concerned about the presentation.
- 7:21SPEAKER_06: I'm concerned about the numbers.
- 7:23SPEAKER_06: Did I pay the person?
- 7:24SPEAKER_06: Did you know we got a DJ, we got, you know, everything that's involved in um in event planning.
- 7:29SPEAKER_06: And I think that's one of our strengths right there.
- 7:31SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 7:32SPEAKER_05: And you guys, not not too, you said something is what I'm wearing from from both of you guys, you're taking the ego out.
- 7:40SPEAKER_05: You're not outshining.
- 7:42SPEAKER_05: That's your wife.
- 7:43SPEAKER_05: She's not outshining.
- 7:44SPEAKER_06: You that's my goal to make her shine.
- 7:47SPEAKER_06: That's so good.
- 7:48SPEAKER_06: When she's going out to speak and preach and all the things she does, I'm grabbing a bag.
- 7:52SPEAKER_06: What you need me to do?
- 7:53SPEAKER_06: I'll go get the grape juice and everything she needs.
- 7:57SPEAKER_06: You know, and I got and I love that.
- 7:59SPEAKER_06: I love that.
- 8:00SPEAKER_06: You know, again, like we said earlier, I've been an entertainer since I was a kid.
- 8:03SPEAKER_06: And since I was a kid, people have catered to me.
- 8:06SPEAKER_06: You know, grabbing my equipment, grabbing my crates of records, anything I need.
- 8:11SPEAKER_06: You hungry, GJ Brandy?
- 8:12SPEAKER_06: You good, you know?
- 8:13SPEAKER_06: So by the time I got married, I'm ready to deport into someone else.
- 8:16SPEAKER_06: So now I want to be the servant, and I want to be the person to add, you know, uh the person who comes and helped the person.
- 8:22SPEAKER_06: So I really embrace that the whole thing.
- 8:24SPEAKER_06: You know, I really love to do that.
- 8:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, for sure.
- 8:27SPEAKER_03: It really is um, like he said, about us serving one another and elevating each other.
- 8:34SPEAKER_03: And, you know, when you can find your role in your partner's vision and vice versa, again, that's really where the power is.
- 8:43SPEAKER_03: It is.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: And like how you're talking about like finding your role in the other person's vision.
- 8:49SPEAKER_02: Um what we realize too when it comes to power couples, right?
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: There's always a risk taker and there's always an implementer.
- 8:56SPEAKER_04: Uh-oh.
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: So which, so which is the one.
- 9:01SPEAKER_03: No one's questioning is coming.
- 9:03SPEAKER_03: What do you think?
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: I, you know, he's more of a processor than a calculator.
- 9:09SPEAKER_03: That's his mathematic brain.
- 9:10SPEAKER_03: I'm the spontaneous, let's do it.
- 9:13SPEAKER_03: We'll figure it out.
- 9:15SPEAKER_03: This is gonna be great.
- 9:16SPEAKER_03: Then we jump in it and he's like, but did you think about what I'm trying to tell you?
- 9:20SPEAKER_03: You didn't think about this, this, this, this.
- 9:22SPEAKER_03: And in some degree, I'm like that too.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: It just depends on what we're passionate about.
- 9:27SPEAKER_03: Um, because like I'm saying more than that.
- 9:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm like, hey, no, whoa, did you think about how many plates we're gonna supposed to have for the did you, you know, what's the menu?
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: You know, you're trying to serve people food, but did we, so um, yeah, that's a good question.
- 9:43SPEAKER_03: I think it did with us, it depends on what it is.
- 9:45SPEAKER_03: Because he'll come to me with a risk, and I'm like, he wants to do that?
- 9:49SPEAKER_06: I think with me, I'm more calculating the risk.
- 9:52SPEAKER_06: So it is a risk, but I already went through the process and everything.
- 9:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I'd already process it.
- 9:59SPEAKER_06: That's true.
- 10:00SPEAKER_06: But you know, kind of like what Alice was talking about, here's a good scenario.
- 10:04SPEAKER_06: It was a part of time, it was a time that I would go to Goodwill.
- 10:08SPEAKER_06: You know, and I see something that I know I'm never gonna see again, and that's it's a cheap price, and I still won't think about it.
- 10:15SPEAKER_06: I gotta process it.
- 10:16SPEAKER_06: I won't take the risk and get it.
- 10:17SPEAKER_03: Yes, you're gonna process this$7.
- 10:20SPEAKER_06: Come back the next day, come back two hours ago, it's gone.
- 10:23SPEAKER_06: I mean, come, I'll go to another hour, come back and it's gone.
- 10:26SPEAKER_06: What in the world?
- 10:27SPEAKER_06: But today today, and then I'm a little bit more, you know, let me go grab it.
- 10:31SPEAKER_06: Yeah, so I'm shifting a little bit.
- 10:32SPEAKER_06: And vice versa, with her, she'll come on and be like, you be proud of me, P.
- 10:36SPEAKER_06: You be proud of me.
- 10:37SPEAKER_06: I did not.
- 10:38SPEAKER_06: I did not make an impulsive decision, you know, ain't she?
- 10:41SPEAKER_06: So it's kind of like a good balance, you know.
- 10:43SPEAKER_06: You gotta have it, you gotta have someone to be a risk taker.
- 10:46SPEAKER_06: But I think with us, we're just a little bit more calculated.
- 10:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 10:49SPEAKER_06: You know, we're a little older, not older, but we're mid- mid-age, and we ain't got a lot of time to risk.
- 10:54SPEAKER_06: So yes, we take risks, but we calculate that risk before we take it, you know what I mean?
- 10:59SPEAKER_06: Especially when it comes to my neck.
- 11:01SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 11:02SPEAKER_06: I'm not wasting no money.
- 11:04SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 11:05SPEAKER_03: With him being a strategic planning expert, he is a strategist.
- 11:10SPEAKER_03: So, you know, again, back to us complimenting each other.
- 11:14SPEAKER_03: If I have this really big idea, this big goal, he'll be like, okay, let's have a strategic planning session about it.
- 11:21SPEAKER_03: Now, how are you gonna, and what's your next step?
- 11:24SPEAKER_03: And because I just be like, well, well, I'll figure that out along the way, you know.
- 11:28SPEAKER_03: Um let's just this the idea, I'm just gonna jump with it.
- 11:31SPEAKER_03: And again, it's complimented me because I've learned how to implement a strategy to elevate the um success of the idea.
- 11:40SPEAKER_03: Um, because when you don't have that, when you don't have that balance in the in the partnership, then you're not getting anything accomplished.
- 11:47SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 11:47SPEAKER_02: Because in a relationship, it's the yin and yang.
- 11:50SPEAKER_02: You know, if you marry somebody who's exactly like you, right, you know, like what you're gonna agree to everything, you know, but then that's when you see the the balance of how you learn from each other too.
- 12:01SPEAKER_02: Because I'm I'm the processor.
- 12:03SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 12:04SPEAKER_02: I always tell events is the one in the plane who he jumps, and I'm the parachute.
- 12:08SPEAKER_02: I calculate the risk.
- 12:09SPEAKER_05: I calculate the risk.
- 12:10SPEAKER_05: Like if I see an opportunity, I'm taking the risk.
- 12:13SPEAKER_05: He learned that from me.
- 12:14SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 12:14SPEAKER_02: Because before he was like, I'm like, come on now, let's let's let's work it out.
- 12:17SPEAKER_02: But it's it's a great balance because sometimes I'm moving slow and I need his risk taking to sit to push me along.
- 12:24SPEAKER_02: And sometimes moving too fast, he needs my processing to slow things down.
- 12:28SPEAKER_02: So we balance each other, and that's how you make a great dynamic.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: That's so good.
- 12:33SPEAKER_02: That's how you make great dynamics.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 12:34SPEAKER_05: What's like we're gonna talk about something like fate now?
- 12:38SPEAKER_05: Because as an entrepreneur, as business owner, as human, we're gonna go through some stuff in life.
- 12:44SPEAKER_05: Yeah, right.
- 12:44SPEAKER_05: That's right.
- 12:45SPEAKER_05: And I always have a quote, I always say this in the in the platform on the podcast.
- 12:51SPEAKER_05: Um God creates success, and my fate in God creates success in me.
- 12:56SPEAKER_05: Because if it wasn't for fate, yeah, what we accomplished as a couple, as a family, as a as a unit, we wanna do it, we wanna have it without God.
- 13:04SPEAKER_05: We know life is gonna hit us back, but we know our fate is in God.
- 13:08SPEAKER_05: That's right.
- 13:08SPEAKER_05: You know?
- 13:09SPEAKER_05: Especially as a couple, when it comes to fate, the decision that you guys make.
- 13:13SPEAKER_05: Like, can you all speak a little bit on that when it comes to faith?
- 13:16SPEAKER_05: So good.
- 13:16SPEAKER_06: So, what I would like to share about it, and I'll let Alicia expand a little bit too.
- 13:20SPEAKER_06: My faith is always tied to the vision.
- 13:23SPEAKER_06: That's good.
- 13:24SPEAKER_06: Because God is the one who gives me a vision.
- 13:27SPEAKER_06: Now I have to have the faith to say, God, I see what you're showing me, yeah, how I'm gonna get there.
- 13:34SPEAKER_06: And to me, that's where our faith comes from.
- 13:36SPEAKER_06: We see ourselves building up a community with several houses.
- 13:40SPEAKER_06: We see ourselves buying property abroad.
- 13:43SPEAKER_06: We see ourselves, that's the vision.
- 13:45SPEAKER_06: How is it gonna come to play place?
- 13:47SPEAKER_06: You know, come to play, come to place, you mean it's God giving it's me having faith in what God showed me.
- 13:53SPEAKER_06: So, yes, faith is a major part of when you're doing things, especially in business and in marriage.
- 13:59SPEAKER_06: But I get for me, it's the vision.
- 14:01SPEAKER_06: You know, if I don't see the vision, if it I don't, if the vision's not clear to me, it's I don't have faith in it.
- 14:07SPEAKER_06: Because I don't see clearly the vision.
- 14:09SPEAKER_06: But when I see a vision, you know, God wakes us up all the time like, man, guess what God showed me?
- 14:14SPEAKER_06: And it could be something that it don't it don't happen maybe 10 years later.
- 14:18SPEAKER_06: There's been things that we have implemented or done that we saw 10 years ago, and now we're just finally starting to see it being implemented.
- 14:26SPEAKER_06: But that's where the faith comes in, where you say, okay, God, you showed me, you know, and you have to go before him.
- 14:32SPEAKER_06: In my case, I go before him.
- 14:33SPEAKER_06: I bring his word to him, this is what you showed me.
- 14:36SPEAKER_06: You know, even when I when you showed me, you gave me the scripture, and I said, hey, God, I read the scripture over again.
- 14:41SPEAKER_06: Like, God, that's what you show me.
- 14:42SPEAKER_06: It's gotta come to pass.
- 14:44SPEAKER_06: Make me help me to be prepared, my family, and how to be prepared for it.
- 14:47SPEAKER_06: So, yes, faith is a major component, but vision.
- 14:51SPEAKER_02: Vision, yeah.
- 14:52SPEAKER_06: So I had to see the vision, and then that's where the faith comes in for what God showed you.
- 14:56SPEAKER_06: It's all throughout the Bible.
- 14:58SPEAKER_06: God showed Joseph, he showed him a vision of his family balance to him.
- 15:02SPEAKER_06: Yeah, right?
- 15:03SPEAKER_06: All throughout the journey, he got sold in slavery.
- 15:06SPEAKER_06: He was a uh uh he got portrayed by Poliphar's wife, why he was uh, you know, servant, he got put in jail.
- 15:12SPEAKER_06: But in his mind, he had faith in what God showed him that one day it would come to pass.
- 15:18SPEAKER_06: Every time he had an opportunity, even with the when the um the cupboard came and got locked up, he said, Oh, that's an opportunity for me to get up out of here.
- 15:25SPEAKER_06: You know what I mean?
- 15:26SPEAKER_06: Because I I saw God showed me this vision a long time ago.
- 15:30SPEAKER_06: And he was like, yo, when you get out, don't forget about it.
- 15:32SPEAKER_06: Don't forget that's him showing his faith that he knows that what God showed him when he was a kid, one day it's gonna come to pass.
- 15:40SPEAKER_06: Did he know it's gonna come to pass the way he did?
- 15:43SPEAKER_06: Him ended up being, you know, second in the command of the whole country.
- 15:47SPEAKER_06: And then, you know, that's how he may not know that part, but he had faith enough to say that something good is gonna happen to you.
- 15:52SPEAKER_06: Yo, man, can you get me when you get out, tell them about me because I'm getting out of here.
- 15:58SPEAKER_06: At some point, my family's gonna bow down to me.
- 16:00SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I know it's gonna happen.
- 16:02SPEAKER_06: And then when it happened, guess what he did?
- 16:04SPEAKER_06: He bust out crying.
- 16:07SPEAKER_06: He's full of joy because he knows God has fulfilled the vision that he showed him.
- 16:11SPEAKER_06: That was part of his faith walk.
- 16:14SPEAKER_06: And that's why God allowed it that happen.
- 16:16SPEAKER_06: He trusted them.
- 16:17SPEAKER_06: He trusted through all that journey, he trusted them, and boom, he gave him the reward.
- 16:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, he said it, right?
- 16:25SPEAKER_03: Um, one of the scriptures that I really love that speaks to me from Joshua 1 and 8, where God tells Joshua to really meditate on the book, the Bible, the book of the law, what it says, but following the instruction, doing everything in it, because only then will you prosper, and only then will you have success in all you do.
- 16:44SPEAKER_03: So I think for us, for me, it's about really what am I speaking over the vision?
- 16:48SPEAKER_03: You gotta have vision, but what am I speaking over it?
- 16:51SPEAKER_03: Because an being an entrepreneur is a very lonely walk.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's a very unique walk.
- 16:56SPEAKER_03: You know, we're the ones that, like you said, we have the crazy ideas, we have to take risks.
- 17:02SPEAKER_03: And you lay down at night and you're, you know, you wake up with an idea and a thought, and you're like, okay, and you know, the regular people, well, I don't want to say regular people, but folks that maybe work a nine to five may not understand that.
- 17:14SPEAKER_03: And it's like, well, you're doing what now?
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:17SPEAKER_03: But I thought you were doing this.
- 17:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm still I'm an entrepreneur.
- 17:21SPEAKER_03: It's not a jack of all trade, it's I'm an entrepreneur, and we always reinvent, we always innovate, yeah, we always evolve.
- 17:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: But my point is, who am I letting speak into the vision that God has given me?
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: And what am I speaking over?
- 17:37SPEAKER_03: And to me, that's where the faith comes in because it can be discouraging, it can be lonely.
- 17:42SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 17:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:43SPEAKER_06: And that's why it's good to share the vision that God gives you with your spouse.
- 17:47SPEAKER_06: It is right.
- 17:48SPEAKER_06: In that period when you may feel lonely, you have someone who got your back.
- 17:52SPEAKER_06: That's right.
- 17:53SPEAKER_06: You know, and it and Alicia said all the time, like, you know, God's gonna do it.
- 17:57SPEAKER_06: Actually, Alicia has put um affirmations on my mirror.
- 18:02SPEAKER_06: When I it was a point of time, I think what last year or the year before, I said, you know, I know what's gonna happen, but I don't know how it's gonna happen.
- 18:08SPEAKER_06: So I came home one day and she had affirmations on my mirror to remind me of what of the destiny that God has for me.
- 18:16SPEAKER_06: And one of the main qu one of the main affirmations she had on there, I'm not gonna tell the full story, but she got got it.
- 18:22SPEAKER_06: I shared something with her, and she said to me, if God can do it for you one time, he can do it again.
- 18:28SPEAKER_06: So I was going through a tough season, it's like maybe 24, going into 25, and um, I didn't really know why I was feeling so down, you know, but I was fighting it.
- 18:37SPEAKER_06: You know, I'm like, I'm not gonna feel it, but it's gonna happen, you know what I mean?
- 18:40SPEAKER_06: And um, she put that on my um on my uh mirror, and it was very encouraging.
- 18:44SPEAKER_06: It's remind me, hey, if God did it for me one time, he could do it again, you know what I mean?
- 18:48SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 18:49SPEAKER_06: So things like that can strengthen your faith, you know, when God gives you a vision.
- 18:53SPEAKER_06: For sure.
- 18:54SPEAKER_06: So good.
- 18:55SPEAKER_06: So having a partner is awesome.
- 18:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: But um, what are some struggles that you feel like couples who are couple-led businesses don't talk about much?
- 19:05SPEAKER_02: Like some of the struggles.
- 19:08SPEAKER_06: They don't talk about much with each other, with each other or just in general.
- 19:13SPEAKER_02: Like, I know one thing that we when we talk to other couples, the things that we see is that there's no communication.
- 19:21SPEAKER_02: That's what I was really reading.
- 19:24SPEAKER_03: Money communication, money.
- 19:27SPEAKER_06: And listen, these talking about finances with your spouse can get a little uh discouraging at times.
- 19:33SPEAKER_06: And you know, people, you know, they're afraid to talk about the realness of their financial things.
- 19:39SPEAKER_06: And I don't want to tell my husband I just went and bought two pocketbooks, and that's why the check bounce, you know what I mean?
- 19:44SPEAKER_06: Because I went on the spurs and got these two pocketbooks, and now he's like, Well, why come that well?
- 19:48SPEAKER_06: I thought there'd be enough money in the bank.
- 19:50SPEAKER_06: So communication is key, getting applications.
- 19:52SPEAKER_06: They have a lot of applic, a lot of apps now where you can track your money, you know.
- 19:58SPEAKER_06: Both of y'all be on account.
- 19:59SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 19:59SPEAKER_06: So you can both track it, you know.
- 20:01SPEAKER_06: And um, some of these apps can let you know when you went over.
- 20:04SPEAKER_06: Hey, you said our budget this money is$300,$400 for eating out.
- 20:08SPEAKER_06: And then say, hey, you don't went over that budget right there.
- 20:11SPEAKER_06: So that could be very helpful, but communication, yeah.
- 20:16SPEAKER_06: Being able to communicate with each other and not be afraid.
- 20:19SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 20:19SPEAKER_06: Before you say something, they someone says.
- 20:21SPEAKER_06: Sure.
- 20:21SPEAKER_06: And I when we first got married, I had to teach Lisha that it's don't be afraid to communicate with me.
- 20:28SPEAKER_06: You know, now it's to the point where she hurt my films, I'll be like, wow.
- 20:35SPEAKER_04: And guess what?
- 20:36SPEAKER_06: I I I stand on that because why why blow up now when I finally got her to the point where she communicated?
- 20:42SPEAKER_06: My wife's an only child.
- 20:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 20:44SPEAKER_06: So she who did she had to communicate with?
- 20:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah, that's good.
- 20:47SPEAKER_06: I had my brothers and you know, my sister.
- 20:49SPEAKER_06: So it's like, you know, when she finally opened up and communicated to me, you know, and it's what we call expression, you know, I had to be open and just listen to what she's saying, give her an opportunity to express, you know.
- 21:00SPEAKER_06: That's very, very important, that communication part.
- 21:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, that's really good, Randy.
- 21:04SPEAKER_03: And uh to your earlier point where he talked about, you know, the money piece.
- 21:09SPEAKER_03: I think also what's really important for couples who are entrepreneurs, uh, who probably like you said, the things we that they don't talk about is when you make an investment and that thing goes south.
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: That thing did not work out.
- 21:22SPEAKER_03: You know, that's one thing.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: You know, do you have you have to come to a place where there's forgiveness, where there's acceptance that we're all on a journey.
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: You know, there may be uh a decision that your spouse has made business-wise that you don't agree with, you don't really see how that thing is gonna pan out.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: You're like, I don't know about that, but you know, I'm I don't know, I'm quick not to say it because I'm like, Lord, I know that's his vision.
- 21:45SPEAKER_03: I'm just gonna support it.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: You know, so I think those are the two main things that a lot of couples don't talk about, you know, the the the Instagram uh couples or the TikTok couples.
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: It's like you're not always in agreement.
- 21:58SPEAKER_03: No, you know, but but can I say?
- 22:00SPEAKER_03: Still support until I can see the thing come to fruition.
- 22:03SPEAKER_06: That's the whole, that's the whole key.
- 22:06SPEAKER_06: Can I support until I see?
- 22:08SPEAKER_06: Because God may show your spouse a vision.
- 22:12SPEAKER_06: And your spouse may not see it yet.
- 22:14SPEAKER_06: That's right.
- 22:15SPEAKER_06: But what you have to do is say, I trust that you have a connection with God and that you see something.
- 22:22SPEAKER_06: I don't see it yet, but I'm going to rock with you until we both see it together.
- 22:27SPEAKER_06: And then if you're the spouse on the end that see the vision, you got to pray, God, help my wife, help my spouse see what you're showing me.
- 22:35SPEAKER_06: Because I don't want to be walking this thing alone.
- 22:37SPEAKER_06: I want that person, my spouse, to see what you're showing me.
- 22:40SPEAKER_06: And you know, sometimes it takes time, sometimes it comes immediately, sometimes it don't come immediately.
- 22:44SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's important.
- 22:45SPEAKER_03: Because you don't want to hinder the person just because you don't see it.
- 22:49SPEAKER_03: You have to trust.
- 22:52SPEAKER_06: Don't blow it up in your spouse's face.
- 22:54SPEAKER_06: Say, I told you, I told you.
- 22:57SPEAKER_06: Don't do that.
- 22:59SPEAKER_03: Don't kick a person while they're down.
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: That's good.
- 23:03SPEAKER_02: Good question.
- 23:05SPEAKER_02: The the podcast is called Pillow Talk to Profit because we know as couples, a lot of the conversation that we have is through those pillow talks, you know?
- 23:13SPEAKER_02: When you're just laying in bed, you're just having those open conversations, those hard conversations, those ideas are real.
- 23:19SPEAKER_02: And then and then one of the reasons too for the mobile podcast came through a pillow talk.
- 23:24SPEAKER_02: And so one thing, one thing that I love about power couples is that when they do have those pillow talks, they find ways to turn into a profit.
- 23:32SPEAKER_02: Or they find ways to make that vision come to true.
- 23:35SPEAKER_02: So what have been some lately some of your pillow talks?
- 23:38SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, I'm laughing because we have drive talks.
- 23:45SPEAKER_03: So much when we hit that pillow, he'd be like, You fell asleep so fast.
- 23:49SPEAKER_03: And I'd be like, You were snoring by the time I tried to have a pillow talk, and he's snoring.
- 23:53SPEAKER_03: Well, we watch our favorite show, Pop the Balloon or Find Love.
- 23:56SPEAKER_03: Shout out to I Lat and BMI.
- 23:59SPEAKER_03: So we have a lot of, you know, drive talks.
- 24:02SPEAKER_03: He's on the road a lot, so am I.
- 24:03SPEAKER_03: We call each other, we text each other visions, and like, hey, let's meet up.
- 24:07SPEAKER_03: When you come home, we're gonna talk about dinner, talking over dinner.
- 24:10SPEAKER_03: But I think to answer your question, um, I from the time that we got together, what I love about our relationship is when we knew that the Lord had put us together, he said, we're gonna write out a vision for our marriage.
- 24:24SPEAKER_03: And we wrote that thing out.
- 24:25SPEAKER_03: And then we've just been building from on top of that.
- 24:28SPEAKER_03: Um, I mean, what would you say that came out of some of that?
- 24:31SPEAKER_06: Well, out of the vision that we wrote, we again we did a vision statement before we got married.
- 24:38SPEAKER_06: So what I've noticed throughout the years is we achieved some of those goals.
- 24:41SPEAKER_06: Yeah, kids got out of high school, the kids got out of college, you know, different things that we implemented and say this is gonna be a part of our marriage and this is our journey.
- 24:51SPEAKER_06: You know, when you see those, those are wins.
- 24:53SPEAKER_06: Yeah, okay, you know, and then you can say, okay, we got a few wins here, and it helps you keep sailing.
- 24:58SPEAKER_06: Yeah, you don't you're not going downward.
- 25:00SPEAKER_06: Now you're coming up.
- 25:00SPEAKER_06: You know, I mean the wind is the witness caught you, you know, and you're coming up.
- 25:04SPEAKER_06: So yeah, um, you know, that was very, very important that we did that.
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: I feel like we're also living in some of the things that they rewrote out.
- 25:12SPEAKER_03: Like we get to travel a lot more.
- 25:14SPEAKER_03: You know, I think that when it comes to um having those conversations, those pillow talk conversations, or wherever you have those conversations, it is about what kind of life do we want to build outside of the business.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: Because it's not about working, working, grinding, grinding.
- 25:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:30SPEAKER_03: You know, to be honest with you, that's just not glamorous.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: No.
- 25:35SPEAKER_03: You know, what's glamorous is yeah, there's there's gonna be a season where you do have to grind and and whatever words you use, hustle.
- 25:42SPEAKER_03: But I'm building towards something for us so we can have a better quality of life.
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: So now we are on the other side of that hustle and grind.
- 25:49SPEAKER_03: Yes, we're still building, but now we've been able to implement some of that vision that we talked about of, you know, we want to take a couple of trips out of the year.
- 25:58SPEAKER_03: We're serial cruisers now.
- 26:00SPEAKER_03: So we've been to a few different islands and countries.
- 26:05SPEAKER_03: And those are things we couldn't do in the beginning when the kids were younger, or when, you know, I was laid off and he was had just retired and was running his business full-time and building.
- 26:14SPEAKER_03: We didn't have it like that.
- 26:15SPEAKER_03: We had one car, one bathroom in the house, more people living.
- 26:19SPEAKER_03: Now everybody in the house go got a car.
- 26:22SPEAKER_03: We got like more cars than people in the house.
- 26:24SPEAKER_03: That's a testimony to God be the glory.
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: Uh, and we don't have no car notes either.
- 26:29SPEAKER_03: Like we don't, you know what I'm saying?
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: So God is good.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: And um, I would say that's really what came out is just being able to see that the things we talked about, we're living through it, you know, and still building.
- 26:41SPEAKER_06: It's definitely encouraging to have a vision, to write a vision.
- 26:44SPEAKER_06: Being in the vacation together, that's a breakthrough.
- 26:47SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 26:47SPEAKER_03: Other than Ocean City.
- 26:49SPEAKER_05: What's your guys' uh greatest investment as a couple?
- 26:51SPEAKER_05: Your greatest investment when you look at your, let your, let your cat look at your dynamic, say, man, I'm glad that we made this investment in ourselves or in our business.
- 27:00SPEAKER_05: Like, what's your when y'all look back?
- 27:03SPEAKER_05: Now, what's your grind, guys, greatest advice?
- 27:05SPEAKER_03: Real estate.
- 27:06SPEAKER_06: Real estate.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay.
- 27:08SPEAKER_06: That's the best investment.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: Owning real estate.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Like we both owned it before we met each other.
- 27:13SPEAKER_03: So that was our mindset.
- 27:15SPEAKER_03: Oh, go ahead.
- 27:16SPEAKER_06: No, I'm agreeing with real estate, is that's number one.
- 27:18SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 27:19SPEAKER_06: And the other thing I would say, this is more on the spiritual side, but investing in others.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:25SPEAKER_06: We're the kind of family that we pour into others so much.
- 27:31SPEAKER_06: And it's very rewarding to me.
- 27:33SPEAKER_06: When I see somebody get their marriage get turned around or their business get turned around from the strategic coaching, you know, that really, really empowers me and really, really gives me joy.
- 27:44SPEAKER_06: And uh, so real estate is one, but I think us pouring into other people.
- 27:48SPEAKER_06: That's good.
- 27:49SPEAKER_06: That's like the that's the best investment.
- 27:51SPEAKER_06: I mean, we take people out to dinner.
- 27:53SPEAKER_06: I mean, we have dinners over our house.
- 27:55SPEAKER_06: We have dinners over our house.
- 27:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah, our house is like a haven.
- 28:00SPEAKER_06: Almost, almost every week we have a couple over our house.
- 28:03SPEAKER_03: And we just feed them.
- 28:05SPEAKER_03: We love our people.
- 28:06SPEAKER_03: We love our people through the atmosphere that we've built in our home.
- 28:09SPEAKER_03: And we've, you know, had a lot of bumps and bruises and scars and stripes to really create spaces where we can pour into others, not just in the business sense, but in their their holistic life, their marriage.
- 28:26SPEAKER_03: Where are you at with your marriage?
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: How are you pouring into your husband?
- 28:29SPEAKER_03: How are you pouring into your wife?
- 28:31SPEAKER_03: You know, that's a power couple.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: Everything else is gonna fade away.
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: Everything.
- 28:35SPEAKER_03: But the foundation of this relationship, you know, yeah, that's really good.
- 28:40SPEAKER_03: And and we've invested in others to achieve what we've achieved.
- 28:44SPEAKER_03: Yes, you know, yeah.
- 28:46SPEAKER_06: And we had the one, we had the one young man uh, we paid for him to take a real estate class.
- 28:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 28:52SPEAKER_06: So now he's doing real estate.
- 28:53SPEAKER_03: So he's an award-winning realtor now.
- 28:55SPEAKER_06: He's an award-winning realtor now.
- 28:57SPEAKER_06: You know, we we invested in him, you know what I mean?
- 28:59SPEAKER_06: And now he's we love that.
- 29:01SPEAKER_03: And and and it's paying it forward.
- 29:02SPEAKER_03: Someone invested in us, whether it was a word of hope, um, whether it was writing us a check, um, or pouring into our marriage or our businesses, and the Lord has brought us to a place where now we can do that for others.
- 29:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's I think the greatest investment.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: You know, my mind's always on real estate.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: You have to.
- 29:22SPEAKER_05: You have to.
- 29:22SPEAKER_02: Now, final question: what advice would you give to couples who are considering going into business?
- 29:29SPEAKER_02: Whatever that dynamic may be together.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: And then what advice would you give to couples who are currently working um as a power couple?
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 29:38SPEAKER_06: I have the same advice for both.
- 29:41SPEAKER_06: Have a strategic plan.
- 29:42SPEAKER_06: Yes.
- 29:43SPEAKER_06: Have a plan.
- 29:44SPEAKER_06: You're trying to start a business.
- 29:46SPEAKER_06: Of course, if you're trying to start a business, you're probably already working somewhere, right?
- 29:50SPEAKER_06: And if you just left your, don't just leave your job, have a plan.
- 29:55SPEAKER_06: You know, so my answer to both of those is have a strategic plan.
- 29:58SPEAKER_06: Have a plan.
- 29:59SPEAKER_06: You know, you if you're without a plan, you know, you you're gonna you're gonna fail.
- 30:05SPEAKER_06: You're gonna be running around in a circle, almost like a two left feet, just going around, going around, not able to balance and go the other direction.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 30:12SPEAKER_02: Because some people they they're like, we're great in marriage, so we must automatically be great in business.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: That's not how it is.
- 30:20SPEAKER_06: You have to have a plan.
- 30:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 30:22SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 30:23SPEAKER_06: And uh, you know, go ahead.
- 30:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, finish your thought.
- 30:25SPEAKER_06: You know, um it's just very important to sit down with your spouse and say, this is what I'm seeing for us to do.
- 30:34SPEAKER_06: This is what God, direction guys lead me into, getting feedback from your spouse.
- 30:39SPEAKER_06: Whether it's be a negative or a positive, you know, at least they know what your mindset is at.
- 30:45SPEAKER_06: You know, not them not knowing, you having everything in your head, not sharing it with your spouse or talking to someone else.
- 30:52SPEAKER_06: That part spending more hours talking to somebody else about the vision God gives you or what you're trying to do than your own spouse.
- 30:58SPEAKER_06: The other person's gonna be there for you when you had those tough days.
- 31:02SPEAKER_06: So you may have to keep them involved throughout the whole process.
- 31:05SPEAKER_06: So strategic plan is like the best way to do that, um, having a strategic plan.
- 31:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's good.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: The first thing that came to my mind was what is your why?
- 31:17SPEAKER_03: If I'm being honest, you know, prior to social media, we didn't know what any other people were doing unless you had a conversation with them.
- 31:24SPEAKER_03: So you can get very distracted by we have to do something because they're doing something.
- 31:29SPEAKER_03: So I think what is the why?
- 31:31SPEAKER_03: Because your why has to be tied to your collective purpose together.
- 31:36SPEAKER_03: And I think that for us, our why is you know, we want to empower other people.
- 31:43SPEAKER_03: Um, and no matter what we're doing in business, as long as it ties back to that, yeah, you know, we know that we're walking in purpose.
- 31:51SPEAKER_05: That's good.
- 31:53SPEAKER_05: Silly.
- 31:55SPEAKER_05: How can people get in touch with you guys for your businesses?
- 31:58SPEAKER_05: Um, let the audience know.
- 32:00SPEAKER_05: We're gonna put the all the description in the uh in the in the in the chat in there, but let them know how to do it.
- 32:07SPEAKER_03: You are a skull champion.
- 32:08SPEAKER_06: So with me, I've got two things going on.
- 32:10SPEAKER_06: So you'll start off with strategic planning.
