  Speaker 3: So it was you couldn't say that he was not corrupt.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, he was very corrupt. The only

  Speaker 1: Yes, I grew up in New York, by the way.

  Speaker 1: I grew up in a mafia neighborhood. I'm the only

  Speaker 1: Jewish kid from a mafia neighborhood on the Bronx borderline.

  Speaker 1: And the neighborhood was half mafia and half cops. Everyone

  Speaker 1: was either a cop or a gangster neighborhood. And believe me,

  Speaker 1: they were all tied together. I saw that corruption from

  Speaker 1: the day I was old enough to understand what was
• 28:24
  Speaker 1: going on. Probably from the age of 10 on, I said,

  Speaker 1: nothing gets done without a payoff. Nothing. In New York,

  Speaker 1: you know? So you talk about Brazil. No, exactly right.

  Speaker 1: It's unbelievable. You know who I feel sorry for? It's

  Speaker 1: not in the notes that we were going to talk about,

  Speaker 1: but the lady who married Gold Bar Bob Menendez, right?

  Speaker 1: She married him, and I probably shouldn't feel bad because
• 28:43
  Speaker 1: she probably married him for his power and his money. But,

  Speaker 1: I mean, she really thought she was having, you know,
• 28:49
  Speaker 1: a dream life, right? She gets married to a U.S. senator,

  Speaker 1: and the next thing you know, he's using her as
• 28:54
  Speaker 1: the go-between, like Hunter Biden for Joe. And she gets convicted,

  Speaker 1: and she's facing a long time in prison, right?

  Speaker 3: Yeah, she's going to be sentenced in September. But he
• 29:08
  Speaker 3: threw her under the bus. And this is something that
• 29:11
  Speaker 3: Bob has done during his whole career. He threw his
• 29:14
  Speaker 3: mentor in the 1980s. He threw his mentor, Bill Musto,
• 29:19
  Speaker 3: who was the Democratic Party.

  Speaker 2: Boss in Union City, New Jersey.

  Speaker 3: He threw him under the bus during his corruption trial.

  Speaker 3: And so this is like a pattern of behavior because

  Speaker 3: he and his wife are both convicted of the same things.

  Speaker 2: They're about to do the trial together.

  Speaker 3: And he separates the trial so that he can— so

  Speaker 3: that he can possibly.

  Speaker 2: Win and and blame her for all of the corruption.

  Speaker 4: brain surgeon but she really got the she became the

  Speaker 4: Patsy in this whole thing right I mean that's kind

  Speaker 3: her new set of lawyers are trying to vacate her

  Speaker 3: conviction based on the fact that they didn't—that the old

  Speaker 3: set of lawyers did not have enough time to prepare

  Speaker 3: for her trial, which is kind of ridiculous, because she
• 30:20
  Speaker 3: kept putting it off, putting it off.

  Speaker 2: She does— She was suffering from breast.

  Speaker 3: Cancer, so you feel kind of sorry for her, especially
• 30:29
  Speaker 3: after Bob blamed everything on her and never once accompanied
• 30:33
  Speaker 3: her part of the trial.
• 30:35
  Speaker 1: Wow. And so when she was found guilty, then what
• 30:38
  Speaker 1: happened to his trial? Did he then plead at that point?
• 30:41
  Speaker 1: I'm not sure about the details. What happened to him?
• 30:43
  Speaker 1: He pleaded or he went to trial?
• 30:47
  Speaker 3: His trial was first. He was convicted of all 16
• 30:50
  Speaker 3: counts of.
• 30:54
  Speaker 3: Accepting bribes, conspiring to work as a foreign agent for
• 30:59
  Speaker 3: Egypt and Qatar. And then he was sentenced to 11
• 31:03
  Speaker 3: years in prison. And he just started serving that sentence

  Speaker 3: in the summer. So he's in prison and she's about
• 31:12
  Speaker 3: to be sentenced.

  Speaker 2: On September 15th.

  Speaker 1: Got it. And what's the sense? I mean, you're plugged

  Speaker 1: into this whole thing. What's the sense? Is she going

  Speaker 1: to get a little less than him or is she

  Speaker 1: going to get the book thrown at her?

  Speaker 3: I think she's going to get the book thrown at

  Speaker 3: her because I don't know if you remember, but one

  Speaker 3: of the reasons that she needed a new Mercedes and

  Speaker 3: this this doesn't really figure into the trial, but it's

  Speaker 3: like a moral situation. One of the reasons she needed

  Speaker 3: a new car was that she crashed her old car

  Speaker 3: and she crashed into a pedestrian and killed him in

  Speaker 3: New Jersey and kind of, you know. walked away from

  Speaker 3: that and everybody forgotten about that until all of this

  Speaker 3: corruption came out into the open and then we realize

  Speaker 3: oh well she killed this 40 something man who was

  Speaker 3: crossing the street and nobody Nobody had ever heard of it.

  Speaker 3: didn't get in trouble at all. The police didn't do

  Speaker 3: a breathalyzer, didn't do anything. She just called a friend
