- 1:37Speaker 3: a great Halloween on Friday night. Also, hope everyone survived
- 1:40Speaker 3: the time change. And I'll tell you I've never been
- 1:42Speaker 3: one that really cared one way or the other. People
- 1:45Speaker 3: get all worked up about it, but it is always
- 1:48Speaker 3: weird when it gets dark, you know, on that first Sunday,
- 1:50Speaker 3: like I did yesterday at about five thirty, and then
- 1:53Speaker 3: it was daylight when I left my house this morning.
- 1:55Speaker 3: But you get used to it coming up a little
- 1:57Speaker 3: bit later. On Charleston, her or Amy Schulder good One
- 1:59Speaker 3: is here, Questions, comments, concerns for the mayor. Now is
- 2:01Speaker 3: your time to talk one on one with her? Of course,
- 2:06Speaker 3: you know we just came off a great weekend of
- 2:07Speaker 3: activities here in the valley. I was at the Capital
- 2:09Speaker 3: Market on Saturday for the Mac and Cheese Cookoff. I'll
- 2:13Speaker 3: be back there next Saturday for the Biscuits and Gravy Bowl,
- 2:16Speaker 3: and then I'll pick up and head to Nitro for
- 2:19Speaker 3: the Wagon Tails and Nitro Ales Chili Chili Cookoff and
- 2:24Speaker 3: Beer Festival. It's a rough life. I leave, Danny, Danny
- 2:28Speaker 3: Jones is here. It's a rough life I live. Man.
- 2:30Speaker 5: Can I say something about the mac and cheese?
- 2:33Speaker 3: You can say whatever you want, buddy.
- 2:35Speaker 5: That was for the Language Center, Rock Jones, Laurence Jones.
- 2:39Speaker 5: A third that was my brother.
- 2:41Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, and I did not know that till you
- 2:43Speaker 3: told me that a couple of years ago. Yeah yeah,
- 2:46Speaker 3: great turnout over there. The judge's choice was the folks
- 2:50Speaker 3: at the Roughner Drew McClanahan, and the the people's choice
- 2:55Speaker 3: was the folks at Coco's Great Eatery in downtown Charleston. So, uh,
- 2:59Speaker 3: about twenty I'm gonna guess twenty five twenty six entries
- 3:03Speaker 3: down there.
- 3:04Speaker 5: There was a something that's in the book. My sister's
- 3:10Speaker 5: named Laura. We had a lady that worked for us intermittently.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Her name was Laura Lawrence. My brother had a really
- 3:21Speaker 5: bad speech impediment. He ended up with a radio voice,
- 3:26Speaker 5: asked Steve Bishop. But he didn't understand. He couldn't make
- 3:32Speaker 5: out why he was called Laura, she was called Lauren,
- 3:36Speaker 5: she was called Laura. So he called Laura Hamilton God God,
- 3:43Speaker 5: and that name stuck with her. A tombstone, really, and
- 3:46Speaker 5: it's in the book and so. But he wound up
- 3:53Speaker 5: when I was a kid, like, was he older than
- 3:56Speaker 5: you were? Younger? Then younger?
- 3:57Speaker 3: Okay, young younger thing okay.
- 3:59Speaker 5: He took his life when he was sixty twenty sixteen.
- 4:04Speaker 5: But I would go to Stross Memorial Hospital. Back then
- 4:10Speaker 5: it was just a circle, you know, you can park
- 4:12Speaker 5: in the circle, and right inside there was a door,
- 4:19Speaker 5: and there was a guy named Jess Barton who later
- 4:22Speaker 5: became a really good customer in my restaurant. And he
- 4:28Speaker 5: had Lawrence in there teaching him how to speak. And
- 4:33Speaker 5: it was really really abusive. It sounded abusive, you know,
- 4:38Speaker 5: I'm sure it was just the way it's supposed to go.
- 4:41Speaker 5: But Lawrence turned out to have a radio voice. He
- 4:44Speaker 5: had jobs at radio station.
- 4:46Speaker 3: It's funny how that works. I mean, James Earl Jones
- 4:48Speaker 3: is probably one of the best examples of that. I mean,
- 4:51Speaker 3: James Earl Jones could barely speak until he was like
- 4:55Speaker 3: ten or twelve years old. His speech impediment was so
- 4:59Speaker 3: was so bad. And then I mean then then, you
- 5:03Speaker 3: know what, he became so well.
- 5:05Speaker 5: Not that maybe this is not a good example, even
- 5:07Speaker 5: though I remember the night the first the first night
- 5:11Speaker 5: the guy got elected back in seventy two, Joe Biden.
- 5:16Speaker 5: He had a uh, he was a stunter or really
- 5:19Speaker 5: bad stuff, very bad. Yeah, yeah, and uh, he had
- 5:24Speaker 5: a great voice until you know, until he un till
- 5:28Speaker 5: he became president.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Well, and a lot of a lot of things after
- 5:31Speaker 3: he became president. Danny Jones here, of course, No, you know,
- 5:34Speaker 3: Danny's with us every Monday, but we kind of flipped
- 5:36Speaker 3: things around. On the first Monday the month, coast mayor
- 5:39Speaker 3: Goodwin will be in a little bit.
- 5:40Speaker 5: Like people call and ask her question.
- 5:42Speaker 3: They text more than they call. But yeah, no, sometimes
- 5:44Speaker 3: we we do. We do. Here's what I here's my
- 5:47Speaker 3: pet peeve about the whole thing. Danny, And I've said
- 5:49Speaker 3: this before. In this world of social media, everybody's quick
- 5:53Speaker 3: to criticize. They'll they'll light up you know, our our
- 5:56Speaker 3: social media, they'll light up you know, the television stations,
- 6:00Speaker 3: the gazette, mayor or whatever. But the mayor comes on
- 6:03Speaker 3: this show the first Monday of every month and is
- 6:07Speaker 3: wide open. She sits in the seat where you are now,
- 6:10Speaker 3: and she has no idea who's calling, she has no
- 6:13Speaker 3: idea what the text are going to be. She'll come
- 6:15Speaker 3: in with a couple of things she wants to mention,
- 6:16Speaker 3: of course, but nothing after that. And these these keyboard
- 6:20Speaker 3: commandos won't call well. And and that that just infuriates me,
- 6:24Speaker 3: because here's an opportunity, you know, for you to talk
- 6:28Speaker 3: if you've got issues. And I don't care whether it's Amy,
- 6:30Speaker 3: it could be any mayor for that matter, here's your
- 6:32Speaker 3: opportunity to talk, and they choose not to.
- 6:35Speaker 5: And as mayor, I was on here for four years
- 6:38Speaker 5: exactly and the same situation. Now they call the office
- 6:42Speaker 5: and they just had to speak with the mayor. Well,
- 6:44Speaker 5: the problem with that was is that I'm going to
- 6:47Speaker 5: give them right.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Back, Yeah to the people who actually I don't mean
- 6:51Speaker 3: that in a bad way, but I know you can't
- 6:53Speaker 3: you can't necessarily take care of the pothole over on
- 6:57Speaker 3: such and such strand the mayor.
- 6:59Speaker 5: I bet she's gonna say, call my office what she
- 7:02Speaker 5: always does, Call my office, leave a message, and I'll
- 7:07Speaker 5: tend to it when I got back. It would be
- 7:09Speaker 5: tend to anyway, Yeah, if if I mean, I would
- 7:15Speaker 5: assume it's tend to anyway.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I mean somebody when you're the mayor of
- 7:19Speaker 3: the largest city in West Virginia. I mean, and it's
- 7:22Speaker 3: you know, you're not going to be able to, as
- 7:24Speaker 3: I said, you know, go after every stray dog that's
- 7:28Speaker 3: running through South Hills and everything else. You're gonna have
- 7:31Speaker 3: other people to do that. This past weekend, though, Dandy,
- 7:33Speaker 3: and this is something I want to ask you about
- 7:34Speaker 3: as a former mayor. This past weekend and every weekend
- 7:37Speaker 3: in Charleston, especially during the you know, the good weather months,
- 7:42Speaker 3: there are always so many activities going on. There's everything
- 7:46Speaker 3: at Capital Market, downtown, Slack Plaza, and really that's true
- 7:49Speaker 3: the entire valley. But yet people complain that there's nothing
- 7:52Speaker 3: to do. I mean, how is that possible if.
- 7:56Speaker 5: You're seventy five years old, there's not.
- 7:59Speaker 3: Well I get that, I but no, I think they're.
- 8:01Speaker 5: Funny to do in this city, and I think the
- 8:03Speaker 5: mayor has done a good job with that. She bought
- 8:07Speaker 5: them regot it back. She had the money to do
- 8:10Speaker 5: it with and we didn't have it, but she bought
- 8:14Speaker 5: the regatta back and we still have the festival.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Right, festival Festival that and Festivfall. You know, you got
- 8:25Speaker 3: the two different thing. And last week, of course we
- 8:28Speaker 3: started talking about the Christmas Parade because that's always, you know,
- 8:33Speaker 3: the big thing, and they have to have the I
- 8:35Speaker 3: mean within the announcement. I think we had Matt Sutton
- 8:38Speaker 3: on the show on I think it was Thursday, and
- 8:40Speaker 3: they made announcement on Wednesday. They already had like twenty
- 8:43Speaker 3: entrants by the time twelve hours later Sudden comes on
- 8:46Speaker 3: the show and we've already got twenty some odd interests.
- 8:48Speaker 5: And she bought it back at night, which is where
- 8:50Speaker 5: it was when I was a little boy. We used
- 8:52Speaker 5: to go down We used to go down Charleston at
- 8:54Speaker 5: night and watch the Christmas Parade. And I think that
- 8:58Speaker 5: was a good move well.
- 8:59Speaker 3: And I remember when it was first brought back and
- 9:03Speaker 3: in her administration took a lot of grief for that,
- 9:06Speaker 3: Danny because they said, you know, it's a school night,
- 9:09Speaker 3: so I'd say probably seventy percent of the and that's
- 9:14Speaker 3: just an arbitrary figure. I'm throwing out just sixty seventy
- 9:16Speaker 3: percent of all the Christmas parades are held at night.
- 9:18Speaker 3: I mean, what's the I mean, you know, here's the thing, Danny,
- 9:22Speaker 3: You're not going to please everybody. We had the big
- 9:24Speaker 3: blow up over trick or Treating last week. You know,
- 9:26Speaker 3: because of inclement weather that was expected. They originally Knaw
- 9:30Speaker 3: County opted to move it to Thursday night. That was
- 9:33Speaker 3: that's when they were going to have it, I should
- 9:34Speaker 3: say originally on Thursday night, but then they were expecting
- 9:38Speaker 3: really bad weather, so it got moved ahead the Halloween night,
- 9:41Speaker 3: which is when a lot of the you know, I
- 9:43Speaker 3: live in Putnam County. Ours was always on that night,
- 9:45Speaker 3: and people, you know, said, well, you're going to go
- 9:47Speaker 3: head to head with high school football, but on Thursday night,
- 9:49Speaker 3: you're going head to head with middle school football. So
- 9:52Speaker 3: you can't make you can't make everybody.
- 9:54Speaker 5: One of the county commissioners running for the.
- 9:56Speaker 3: State's Center, Yeah, Lance Wheeler, Yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 5: I wonder now are people filing for his job.
- 10:02Speaker 3: One person has already filed. I've Jared Page. I've already
- 10:05Speaker 3: interviewed him on the air. That's the one that the
- 10:08Speaker 3: one person I know of tell me.
- 10:13Speaker 5: There's a contest going on in Massachusetts and there's a
- 10:19Speaker 5: young man who's forty seven. He's a congressman named Seth Moulten,
- 10:24Speaker 5: and the senator is Ed Markey. I can't stand him.
- 10:30Speaker 5: They're both liberal Democrats. But Ed Markey, if that's his
- 10:35Speaker 5: first name, I can't remember it. You know, it's eighty
- 10:38Speaker 5: years old. That's too old. I think seventy five is
- 10:43Speaker 5: old enough. I mean, I think I'm too old to
- 10:46Speaker 5: run for office. I'm here for advice if anybody wants it.
- 10:51Speaker 5: If you want, I'll share my experience with you privately,
- 10:55Speaker 5: you know, if that will help you. If you want
- 10:57Speaker 5: me to serve on the board, I might do that.
- 10:59Speaker 3: What is too old to serve? And I know it
- 11:01Speaker 3: depends on the job. I mean, you know, being a
- 11:04Speaker 3: congressman because of all the travel and everything, it's not
- 11:07Speaker 3: necessarily like being the mayor of a small town. I
- 11:09Speaker 3: get that, But is there a certain a certain age?
- 11:13Speaker 5: Seventy five that's my age. Okay, that's the age I pick.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Okay, you picked seventy I picked seventy five. I will
- 11:21Speaker 3: know that all seventy five year olds are not created equal, though,
- 11:23Speaker 3: I mean there's some well grass, yeah, I mean in
- 11:26Speaker 3: there's nineties.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Yeah, But I think that there's other people in Iowa
- 11:33Speaker 5: that could replace him, that are in there that are
- 11:37Speaker 5: not quite that old. Poor old strom Thurman. He was there,
- 11:41Speaker 5: he was one hundred and he couldn't even carry on
- 11:44Speaker 5: a conversation.
- 11:44Speaker 3: Let's and let's face it with all due respect. And
- 11:46Speaker 3: in this state, you know, we we put the name
- 11:49Speaker 3: of Robert Bird up there in a in a reverent place.
- 11:51Speaker 3: And I get that Robert Bird served way too long.
- 11:56Speaker 3: In my opinion, he was not as effective. Look, there's
- 12:00Speaker 3: no bigger Ronald Reagan fan than me. Reagan by eighty six,
- 12:05Speaker 3: eighty seven was out.
- 12:07Speaker 5: I told you a little. Well, he got elected at seventy.
- 12:10Speaker 3: Right, yeah.
- 12:11Speaker 5: But of course the now this comes from his son,
- 12:15Speaker 5: who I can't stand at. Michael atheists, No, the atheist
- 12:20Speaker 5: Stephen No, ron.
- 12:22Speaker 3: O ron Reagan Junior. Yeah, I'm sorry.
- 12:24Speaker 5: He said that his father was never the same after
- 12:26Speaker 5: he got shot, and I don't believe he was right.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Well, that'll do it.
- 12:33Speaker 5: So, but he would go back and forth I mean
- 12:36Speaker 5: he would like when he got into it over there
- 12:40Speaker 5: with Gorbachaw and then then went back and then Gorbashaw
- 12:47Speaker 5: buckled right, and.
- 12:49Speaker 3: We need to take a break here real quick. I
- 12:50Speaker 3: want to hold you over though it's nine to twenty.

- 15:18Speaker 3: bit later on the former mayor Danny Jones is here.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I want to talk about the book, but I do
- 15:22Speaker 3: have a couple of texts here for you. One set,
- 15:24Speaker 3: we talked about the restaurant. You know that you closed
- 15:26Speaker 3: down the restaurant, but any thoughts of maybe having another
- 15:30Speaker 3: business move into it?
- 15:32Speaker 5: No, not right now. Okay, somebody have to make a case.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Okay, and by make a case you mean what because
- 15:39Speaker 3: we had the issue with.
- 15:40Speaker 5: The somebody'd have to want it. I fixed that, Okay,
- 15:43Speaker 5: I've already fixed okay, so trust me, I don't know
- 15:47Speaker 5: fifteen hundred dollars. I fixed it.
- 15:49Speaker 3: Okay, So I mean you want to sell it or
- 15:51Speaker 3: what do you what do you want to do with
- 15:52Speaker 3: It's none of my business.
- 15:53Speaker 5: But no, no, no, I mean I've got I've got
- 15:56Speaker 5: the place for rented until twenty twenty eight. I've got
- 16:00Speaker 5: the rent paid. I mean it's uh, you know Martin
- 16:03Speaker 5: and I trading around cars.
- 16:05Speaker 3: I mean horse trading man, that's what we call horse.
- 16:09Speaker 5: It's there. I thought about moving in it, you know,
- 16:12Speaker 5: living in the restaurant. It's a boy's. If I knew
- 16:16Speaker 5: the boys weren't coming back, i'd move. I'd move in there.
- 16:18Speaker 3: Why don't you just put like a shrine. I mean,
- 16:21Speaker 3: it's practically when you had the restaurant, Danny, and I
- 16:23Speaker 3: know your stuff still there was practically shrine anyway. Don't
- 16:26Speaker 3: you just set up an office and have like coffee
- 16:28Speaker 3: time with Danny.
- 16:29Speaker 5: Well that's what I had before. Yeah, before, But I
- 16:34Speaker 5: had my massage chair down there, and I'd get in
- 16:38Speaker 5: my massage chair and I'd fall asleep in my massage
- 16:41Speaker 5: chair and people want to come in and I'd be
- 16:45Speaker 5: I'd be laying there.
- 16:48Speaker 3: Danny. I'm telling you, you could go down there and
- 16:50Speaker 3: advertise you know when you're going to be there and
- 16:53Speaker 3: people would come down just to drink coffee, just to
- 16:55Speaker 3: hang out with you. I have no doubt about it.
- 16:57Speaker 5: Thank you.
- 16:57Speaker 3: All right, let's talk about the book. Two weeks from
- 16:59Speaker 3: the is that right?
- 17:00Speaker 5: Two weeks some day it comes out. I talked to
- 17:03Speaker 5: the manager at Taylor Books and he is going to
- 17:10Speaker 5: let me put about ten books in there, and then
- 17:14Speaker 5: I have a book signing on the twenty second. It's
- 17:19Speaker 5: on Saturday, November. So in other words, that's three weeks
- 17:26Speaker 5: from Miss pasturity on the book signing at two o'clock.
- 17:29Speaker 5: So you can come in there and if you want
- 17:33Speaker 5: to buy a book and get me to sign it,
- 17:35Speaker 5: I'll be glad to do it. I hope people buy it.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Charlie and I worked very hard on the book. Harry
- 17:49Speaker 5: Harry has read it. Harry my friend at road Edinborough Daylight,
- 17:54Speaker 5: you know the Skidmore book, He's read the book.
- 17:57Speaker 3: When can I get my copy of it?
- 17:59Speaker 1: Danny?
- 18:00Speaker 3: Can I get like an advance copy? I'll pay for it.
- 18:03Speaker 5: No, no, no, The only thing I have is unedited version.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Well that's what I want.
- 18:11Speaker 5: I really want.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I want to know. I'll take the one everybody else
- 18:15Speaker 3: gets Danny, you know so, But but I definitely, I
- 18:18Speaker 3: definitely I want.
- 18:19Speaker 5: To Harry thinks. I mean in nineteen seventy four, I
- 18:28Speaker 5: engaged in some very heathen in that era, seventy two
- 18:31Speaker 5: to seventy six, very hedonistic activities. Did I write about?
- 18:37Speaker 3: Okay?
- 18:38Speaker 5: He said, you should that. There should have been a link.
- 18:43Speaker 5: There should have been a trend of a period, like
- 18:48Speaker 5: how did that guy come to run for sheriff Kennhall
- 18:52Speaker 5: County the transformation? Yeah, and get elected multiple times?
- 18:56Speaker 3: I mean, I mean to the I.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Could have been re elected charity, I mean.
- 18:59Speaker 3: A different offices.
- 19:00Speaker 5: I mean, but I ran for the House that year
- 19:03Speaker 5: and there were twenty four candidates running for twelve feet.
- 19:06Speaker 5: I came in first.
- 19:08Speaker 3: See. Here's the thing about it is. And I was
- 19:10Speaker 3: talking to a friend of mine the other day and
- 19:12Speaker 3: we were talking about political aspirations, and he said, I
- 19:14Speaker 3: would love to run for office, he said, but I don't,
- 19:18Speaker 3: and especially in the age of the internet now, he said,
- 19:20Speaker 3: I don't want to have to go back and answer
- 19:22Speaker 3: because I got suspended in fifth grade for cheating on
- 19:25Speaker 3: a spelling test or something. Because everything is out there now. Well,
- 19:30Speaker 3: but I have a lot of respect for political figures.
- 19:34Speaker 3: I don't care whether the Republican Democrat, liberal conservative who
- 19:37Speaker 3: come out and say, look, I haven't always been the
- 19:40Speaker 3: best of Well.
- 19:41Speaker 5: No, Well, the one thing the drug investigation taught me
- 19:46Speaker 5: because my file was leaked, you know, a federal file,
- 19:50Speaker 5: an FBI file was leaked by a police chief in
- 19:53Speaker 5: this city and the head of the drug bion. They
- 19:55Speaker 5: couldn't prosecute me. They leaked to my file made national
- 19:58Speaker 5: news baden. It just doesn't get better with age. Put
- 20:05Speaker 5: it out there. If it's something you can't stand open
- 20:09Speaker 5: a restaurant.
- 20:11Speaker 3: See, I remember, you know, back in the days of
- 20:13Speaker 3: Bill Clinton and that that whole remember the whole debacle.
- 20:15Speaker 3: Now nobody would care if you said that that you know,
- 20:18Speaker 3: you smoke pot. But back in the nineties that was
- 20:20Speaker 3: kind of a thing. And then he said I didn't.
- 20:22Speaker 3: I mean, man, just just say you did.
- 20:24Speaker 5: And he lied about Jennifer Flowers.
- 20:26Speaker 3: He lied about a lot of things.
- 20:27Speaker 5: He said that in the deposition. He said that he
- 20:32Speaker 5: was with her once when he had an affair with her,
- 20:36Speaker 5: and when he was married to Hillary and Miss Arkansas.
- 20:41Speaker 5: He got he had his way with her in the
- 20:43Speaker 5: back of an ambulance. I mean, I'm not kidding you.
- 20:50Speaker 5: And he was married to Hillary and she had lied
- 20:55Speaker 5: about it, and she came out and she said, look
- 20:58Speaker 5: it happened. I want to get it all my chest
- 21:01Speaker 5: and there it is, so they got it was in
- 21:04Speaker 5: the back of a car. I think I think I
- 21:05Speaker 5: thought it was an ambulance.
- 21:06Speaker 3: Well, it doesn't matter at this point, but.
- 21:10Speaker 5: He was a hounddogg you know. Marjorie Taylor Green.
- 21:14Speaker 3: All right, let's talk about Marjorie Taylor Green. She was
- 21:17Speaker 3: on Bill Maher on Friday night. I have not seen
- 21:19Speaker 3: it yet. I plan to watch it. She's on the
- 21:21Speaker 3: View tomorrow. You saw her on Bill Maher. What do
- 21:24Speaker 3: you think of Marjorie Taylor Green on Bill Maher?
- 21:26Speaker 5: Very impressed, very impressed.
- 21:29Speaker 3: She did what impressed you about her?
- 21:32Speaker 5: She's matured so much, and I think she's mainstreamed herself.
- 21:40Speaker 5: If I lived in her district, I'd vote.
- 21:43Speaker 3: For It's what I mean. And she's at odds with
- 21:45Speaker 3: the Trump administration now on certain things. And I do
- 21:49Speaker 3: just what sort of a bizarro world, though, Danny, do
- 21:52Speaker 3: we live in that? I mean, You're like, oh my god.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Marjorie Taylor Green started to make sense. I mean, are
- 21:57Speaker 3: these the are we know? Are we in the end? Days?
- 22:00Speaker 1: Here?
- 22:00Speaker 9: Now?
- 22:01Speaker 5: She changed?
- 22:02Speaker 3: Did she really?
- 22:03Speaker 5: Yeah? She's changed. She's a different person and she's mature
- 22:07Speaker 5: and I like her. I mean, really, what did.
- 22:11Speaker 3: She do so so well? Because I haven't seen it,
- 22:14Speaker 3: talked to a friend of mine this morning. He did
- 22:16Speaker 3: see it. He said it was kind of contentious back
- 22:18Speaker 3: and forth between Bill Maher and her What did you do?
- 22:20Speaker 5: Not at all?
- 22:20Speaker 3: Okay?
- 22:23Speaker 5: Perceptions, but well they may have disagreed on some stuff, right, okay,
- 22:27Speaker 5: But he said she'd been invited on the show. She said,
- 22:31Speaker 5: I've never been invited on the show. Well, maybe your
- 22:34Speaker 5: staff didn't tell you.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Well, and that happens. And look, you know, and people
- 22:37Speaker 3: will talk crap about about Bill Maher, you know, And
- 22:40Speaker 3: I don't agree with him on everything. He's one of
- 22:42Speaker 3: my favorite comedians. I certainly don't agree with him on everything.
- 22:44Speaker 3: But I will say this, he takes so much crap
- 22:48Speaker 3: from the left because he has Marjorie Taylor Green on
- 22:51Speaker 3: the show, because he had the Borders Are Home and
- 22:53Speaker 3: on the show. He says, look, I have invited AOC
- 22:57Speaker 3: on the show. AOC will not come on the show.
- 22:59Speaker 3: Chuck Schumer will not come on the show. He said, yeah, right,
- 23:04Speaker 3: and he says the people that will come on the
- 23:06Speaker 3: show are these Republicans and I'm going to platform them.
- 23:09Speaker 3: And I give him credit for that.
- 23:11Speaker 2: Sure.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Kamala, Yeah, all right, she I've read her book, Okay,
- 23:15Speaker 3: all right, talk about that.
- 23:16Speaker 5: Or it's a diary. It's just a diary about what
- 23:20Speaker 5: happened in those hundred seven days. I went to the
- 23:25Speaker 5: Speak to the Teachers Union. I got a great reception.
- 23:28Speaker 5: And the lady that runs it, and I can't think
- 23:30Speaker 5: of her name, but she's old, you are great, You're
- 23:33Speaker 5: gonna win all that stuff. That's what the book is,
- 23:36Speaker 5: and she she treashes my man, Josh Josha Heiro.
- 23:41Speaker 3: Yeah, but she says she claims that Gavin that she
- 23:45Speaker 3: If I'm wrong about this, somebody can correct me. But
- 23:47Speaker 3: I think that she claims that she texted Gavin Newsom
- 23:50Speaker 3: and only got something to the effect of hiking we'll
- 23:53Speaker 3: call back, and he never did. Now, Gavin Newsom says
- 23:55Speaker 3: that never happened.
- 23:57Speaker 5: Well, and who knows, Yeah, I mean she now Jonathan
- 24:04Speaker 5: carl and his book said, well, the president went on
- 24:10Speaker 5: Joe Rogan and Kamala never did Kamala refused. Kamala didn't
- 24:15Speaker 5: give an interview for thirty five days. And when you
- 24:23Speaker 5: are running for office, you chase the microphone, you chase
- 24:28Speaker 5: the cameras. You want exposure. And she she she wouldn't
- 24:34Speaker 5: do that. That wasn't a style. And she spent a
- 24:37Speaker 5: billion and a.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Half dollars and still didn't get elected.
- 24:40Speaker 5: And she she had and she paid Oprah a million.
- 24:44Speaker 5: What did Oprah need the money? And so what she said, BEYONCEI.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Ten, I think she says she's going to run again.
- 24:53Speaker 5: So uh well, letter you think I mean, she's not
- 24:56Speaker 5: going anywhere. Yeah, unless they want to lose again.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I'm not so sure that the Democratic Party. I mean,
- 25:03Speaker 3: this is just my opinion on the national level. I'm
- 25:06Speaker 3: not so sure the Democratic Party wants to win anymore
- 25:09Speaker 3: because they can't when they continue to prop up the
- 25:12Speaker 3: people that they're propping up. You can't hope that you're
- 25:14Speaker 3: going to get this country back by putting AOC's and
- 25:17Speaker 3: people like that of the world. Hey, before anybody attacks me,
- 25:19Speaker 3: I don't mean gender or race or anything like. That's
- 25:22Speaker 3: not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about these far
- 25:24Speaker 3: left people are not going.
- 25:25Speaker 5: To win they're not going to nominate a mainstream candidate
- 25:30Speaker 5: like Rama Manuel and my favorite stephen A or my
- 25:39Speaker 5: real favorite Josh Shapiro. He's to mainstream. He's a governor.
- 25:45Speaker 5: He does things right. You know, he sees a problem,
- 25:48Speaker 5: he fixes it.
- 25:50Speaker 3: Hold on one second, because I'm going to give you
- 25:52Speaker 3: a little bit of time to close it out here.
- 25:54Speaker 3: And then we had to bring the mayor in the

- 26:24Speaker 3: and then a lot of.
- 26:25Speaker 5: That I've watched her since she's been in office, and
- 26:30Speaker 5: how silly she would be and she would say silly things,
- 26:33Speaker 5: and she'd hold up pictures of didn't she hold up
- 26:39Speaker 5: a picture of a naked person something?
- 26:42Speaker 3: I don't remember that not saying she didn't I don't know.
- 26:45Speaker 5: But she held up a picture of Eric Swallswollwell with that,
- 26:50Speaker 5: with that Chinese lady who was turned out to be

- 32:33Speaker 2: Trick or treat. I you know what, I love trick
- 32:35Speaker 2: or treat. I have a skeleton on my front doorstep.
- 32:38Speaker 2: We call him Slim, and he has a hat on
- 32:41Speaker 2: and a little scarf and a little cat. But I
- 32:44Speaker 2: don't get very many trick or treaters as I used to.
- 32:47Speaker 2: I used to live on the East End and my
- 32:50Speaker 2: husband and I the first remember the first year we
- 32:52Speaker 2: moved in, the neighbors laughed at our candy and said
- 32:57Speaker 2: that's not enough. I was like, oh, but there's you
- 33:00Speaker 2: or whatever, two hundred and fifty pieces. They're like, yeah,

- 33:20Speaker 2: year and it's so it is so incredibly fun. And
- 33:23Speaker 2: you know, Mayor Jones and I were just talking as
- 33:25Speaker 2: he was leaving about activities and things to do. You know,
- 33:29Speaker 2: when I became mayor six and a half m was
- 33:31Speaker 2: seven years ago. That's what I wanted. Vitality, vibrancy, and
- 33:34Speaker 2: those are the things that he was just talking about.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Another event that he'd like to see back. Me too,
- 33:38Speaker 2: the car Show. I hated that they left. I wish
- 33:41Speaker 2: they would come back, and would love it if they
- 33:43Speaker 2: came back.
- 33:46Speaker 7: Kids mess it.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Can I interrupt you there?
- 33:47Speaker 9: One?
- 33:48Speaker 7: Yeah? Hit me.
- 33:49Speaker 3: I want you to go on the record right now
- 33:51Speaker 3: because you've done it before. But I mean, but we
- 33:54Speaker 3: get so many and you get so much. Look and look,
- 33:56Speaker 3: I'll give you a crap if because I'm your friend
- 33:58Speaker 3: and I can do that all I do. But I
- 34:03Speaker 3: get this all the time. The mayor killed the car Show.
- 34:06Speaker 5: About show.
- 34:07Speaker 3: I put it on the record again that the mayor
- 34:09Speaker 3: did not kill the car show.
- 34:11Speaker 7: I wanted it.
- 34:11Speaker 2: I have all the emails and documentations to back all
- 34:14Speaker 2: of this up. Not you know, and Mayor Jones knows
- 34:18Speaker 2: this for sure. We were just talking about it. I
- 34:20Speaker 2: gave more money, I gave more support for the car
- 34:23Speaker 2: show than ever before. But the year they left, they said,
- 34:26Speaker 2: we ran out of volunteers, we're running out of sponsorship.
- 34:29Speaker 2: We need seventy five thousand dollars right now to do it.
- 34:32Speaker 2: And I said, I don't have seventy five I've got
- 34:34Speaker 2: thirty five thousand, and they said no, And then I
- 34:37Speaker 2: found out about it on the radio, I think is
- 34:41Speaker 2: how we found out about it. But we loved the
- 34:43Speaker 2: We love the car show. We'd love to have the
- 34:45Speaker 2: Car Show back. So if anybody's out there and wants
- 34:49Speaker 2: to read all my emails or talk to me about it,
- 34:51Speaker 2: I'd love it, love it, love it.
- 34:53Speaker 7: But I think most most of the.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Folks who are engaged and involved really no, really know
- 34:58Speaker 2: that we didn't want to see that go in anyhow,
- 35:00Speaker 2: I'll make a long, straight longer. You know, we are
- 35:03Speaker 2: hitting into the season of events, and not only do
- 35:06Speaker 2: we have and I know our chief of staff Matthew
- 35:08Speaker 2: Sutton came on on Friday talk about the Christmas Parade
- 35:11Speaker 2: man oday.
- 35:12Speaker 7: That's the other thing.
- 35:13Speaker 2: The applications are flying in for folks who want to
- 35:16Speaker 2: be in the Christmas Parade. It is our downtown real estate. Folks,
- 35:22Speaker 2: if you own a you know, I don't care if
- 35:24Speaker 2: it's a coffeehouse or a men's shop shout out to
- 35:27Speaker 2: Tony Taylor or a bar or whatever you want. An
- 35:32Speaker 2: evening Christmas parade. It is kind of the big kickoff
- 35:36Speaker 2: to the shopping season, so it's super super super fun.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Of course, we have Holly Jolly, which is on Black Friday.
- 35:42Speaker 2: My mom's favorite thing to do is to come in
- 35:45Speaker 2: and watch the show. Nothing like your mom sitting there
- 35:48Speaker 2: in the front row day watching you light the Christmas
- 35:50Speaker 2: I'm fifty four years old and my mom still loves
- 35:53Speaker 2: to sit there in the front row and watch me
- 35:55Speaker 2: flick the It's a thing I think of parents, right
- 35:58Speaker 2: if your a parent or a grandparent, or you're an uncle,
- 36:01Speaker 2: or you have love for a child, you or have
- 36:04Speaker 2: raised a child, or take care of children, you love
- 36:06Speaker 2: watching those children have joy. My mom still comes because
- 36:09Speaker 2: she says, you have so much fun doing that with
- 36:12Speaker 2: the kids, and I do, and so that's that's also
- 36:15Speaker 2: super fun.
- 36:15Speaker 7: Coming up.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Got a question for here for you, please tex, says
- 36:19Speaker 3: David Mayor, A good one. Is there any update on
- 36:21Speaker 3: the former Canal manufacturing site on the East End. It
- 36:24Speaker 3: was partially demoed with plans to turn it into Charleston Lift,
- 36:27Speaker 3: also known as Learning, Innovation, Food and Technology Center. The
- 36:30Speaker 3: partially demoed side to set dormant for over a year
- 36:32Speaker 3: would be a great asset for the community. If that's
- 36:34Speaker 3: still in the works.
- 36:35Speaker 2: Oh yeah, no, there's lots of great I will give
- 36:37Speaker 2: a great shout out to Mara Boggs and the Charleston
- 36:39Speaker 2: Aarrey Alliance as they reimagine that site. Plans are still
- 36:44Speaker 2: certainly moving forward to transform that site, that neighborhood, and
- 36:48Speaker 2: that community. They know they welcomed us Dave with open
- 36:52Speaker 2: arms when we made this announcement many many years ago.
- 36:55Speaker 2: There is activity on the site and you will see,
- 36:58Speaker 2: you know, hopefully sooner than later. When you have large projects,
- 37:02Speaker 2: it takes a while. When you have large projects like
- 37:06Speaker 2: the Capital connector like you know, doing a twenty million
- 37:09Speaker 2: dollar public safety building, or when you have the mall
- 37:13Speaker 2: or sports conflict, it is not something that can happen
- 37:16Speaker 2: in just a couple of months or a year. Boy
- 37:18Speaker 2: oh boy, I wish I had a magic wand and
- 37:20Speaker 2: can make those things happen. But progress, and grand progress
- 37:24Speaker 2: and monumental progress comes certainly.
- 37:28Speaker 7: At a at a slow pace.
- 37:30Speaker 2: It's kind of like me trying to lose that ten
- 37:33Speaker 2: pounds before the end of the year and doing it
- 37:34Speaker 2: during the holiday, right lose it fast, it comes back,
- 37:37Speaker 2: lose it slow, it stays.
- 37:38Speaker 7: It's kind of the same philosophy. Can you tell it?
- 37:41Speaker 7: Can you tell I didn't have my breakfast already?
- 37:43Speaker 3: This same at your side? It's nine five a day
- 37:46Speaker 3: Vallid Show on five eighty line, Brown Too, part by
- 37:49Speaker 3: Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm. All right,
- 37:52Speaker 3: so go serious here for a moment. The partial government
- 37:55Speaker 3: shutdown is going on, no signs that it's going to
- 38:00Speaker 3: and anytime soon. You have to actually get people in
- 38:03Speaker 3: the same room to talk in order for that to happen.
- 38:05Speaker 3: That's no the story for another time, all right. So
- 38:08Speaker 3: on Saturday, Snap benefits, you know, official, I mean, you
- 38:12Speaker 3: know for now came to an end. We know about
- 38:15Speaker 3: the court cases and so on and so forth. But
- 38:17Speaker 3: as let's just say it right now, we don't know
- 38:19Speaker 3: what's going to happen there, but it is what it is.
- 38:21Speaker 3: Sixteen percent of the population in the CID of West
- 38:25Speaker 3: Virginia received some sort of snap benefits. Many of those
- 38:29Speaker 3: our kids. Many of those are people that are working,
- 38:31Speaker 3: all right, farmers and farmers and so on and so forth.
- 38:35Speaker 3: So let's talk about that for a moment, and let's
- 38:38Speaker 3: talk about what the City of Charleston is doing.
- 38:40Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I will say that we can't do everything,
- 38:44Speaker 2: just like the county can't do everything. But you know,
- 38:47Speaker 2: the county last last month, month before welcome them and
- 38:52Speaker 2: the Senior Services Center and handed them eighty thousand dollars
- 38:55Speaker 2: to help with their food and security.
- 38:59Speaker 7: People are hungry.
- 39:00Speaker 2: And you know, while you may not think it is
- 39:03Speaker 2: a lot on average, I think it's about one hundred
- 39:05Speaker 2: and eighty seven dollars.
- 39:06Speaker 7: It matters.
- 39:07Speaker 2: It matters to families that are struggling, that are literally
- 39:10Speaker 2: putting budget plans together every month. I remember my mom
- 39:14Speaker 2: and dad doing the exact same thing when we were little. Right,
- 39:17Speaker 2: you put together a family budget. This is how much
- 39:19Speaker 2: you have to spend. Food is something that you have
- 39:22Speaker 2: to have. So we know that folks are nervous about
- 39:25Speaker 2: their access to food. We know from the Queen Margaret
- 39:29Speaker 2: O'Neill in the United Way that the two to one
- 39:31Speaker 2: one calls that everybody talks about, right, two one one,
- 39:34Speaker 2: you need help to one one. They are up over
- 39:37Speaker 2: seven hundred last month compared to where they were in
- 39:40Speaker 2: Augris August of this past year, and so We've talked
- 39:44Speaker 2: to several our providers, we talked to council members, we
- 39:47Speaker 2: talked to folks at the school board, folks in our
- 39:50Speaker 2: park and rec centers. Because I don't think people know this, Dave.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I know you know this because I talk about it
- 39:55Speaker 2: all the time. We take care of kiddos after school,
- 39:58Speaker 2: nights and weekends and holidays. Kids come to me by
- 40:01Speaker 2: the way I want them to. I mean, we have
- 40:03Speaker 2: excuse me, our parking rec centers open for a reason.
- 40:05Speaker 2: It is safe place to come after school. We help
- 40:10Speaker 2: you with your homework, we give you a little bite
- 40:11Speaker 2: to eat, and we watch you. So tonight, on City
- 40:14Speaker 2: Council's agenda, we have put in sixty thousand to the
- 40:18Speaker 2: Canal Valley Collective that will go directly towards the purchase
- 40:21Speaker 2: of food for food pantries and I talking about hot
- 40:23Speaker 2: meals day. We're talking about food that you can take home,
- 40:26Speaker 2: that you can take home. And also ten thousand of
- 40:30Speaker 2: that is going to park in RECs for food for
- 40:32Speaker 2: our littles, who you know. I know they do because
- 40:36Speaker 2: I'm there and we see them all the time, and
- 40:39Speaker 2: so it's real. It is a real thing. And every
- 40:43Speaker 2: single snack matters. Every single supper to go matters for
- 40:49Speaker 2: our littles certainly, and our families, and certainly for our
- 40:54Speaker 2: seniors as well. So you know, access to SNAP benefits
- 40:57Speaker 2: its top of mine. It is what everybody continues to
- 40:59Speaker 2: talk about. And you know, one of our city council
- 41:02Speaker 2: members to say is said to me, can we do more?
- 41:05Speaker 7: Not right now?
- 41:06Speaker 2: No we can't because our job in the city is
- 41:09Speaker 2: to still continue to do the things that we are
- 41:11Speaker 2: charged with, but part of that charge is to take
- 41:14Speaker 2: care of our families, to make sure that then when
- 41:17Speaker 2: there are tough times that we go the extra miles.
- 41:20Speaker 2: You know, kind of reminds me of COVID. By the way, Dave,
- 41:22Speaker 2: I never thought in a million years part of my
- 41:24Speaker 2: job as mayor is to hold the hands of folks
- 41:27Speaker 2: who are getting vaccinations. I never thought that would be
- 41:30Speaker 2: part of my job description.
- 41:31Speaker 7: Oh buddy, it is.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Never did I think that I would sit there being
- 41:35Speaker 2: well a little bit, maybe tying the shoe of a
- 41:37Speaker 2: little guy who's at our park and rec center and saying,
- 41:39Speaker 2: wait a second, why don't you have socks on?
- 41:42Speaker 7: Where's your jacket? Did you come with gloves? That is
- 41:45Speaker 7: part of the job.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Because We are a folk in West Virginia and I
- 41:50Speaker 2: grew up here. I know we want to take care
- 41:53Speaker 2: of folks. We do what we can, and this is
- 41:55Speaker 2: what we can do during this time. And certainly, you know,
- 41:59Speaker 2: I know we don't have time to get into it
- 42:01Speaker 2: all because you and I feel exactly the same way.
- 42:04Speaker 2: You don't have to love me, like me or hate me.
- 42:06Speaker 2: We need to talk. We need to make sure that
- 42:09Speaker 2: we're having these conversations and we're doing work for people
- 42:12Speaker 2: because folks in elected positions that were that's what we're
- 42:15Speaker 2: supposed to do. You know, gone are the days of
- 42:17Speaker 2: this political rhetoric. I'm over it. I'm done with it.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Everybody is. Because I have to deal with families. I
- 42:23Speaker 2: have to talk to families who are coming into our
- 42:25Speaker 2: rec centers. I talk to families out on the street
- 42:27Speaker 2: who say to me, I don't know what I'm going
- 42:28Speaker 2: to do. I have absolutely zero idea. It is not easy,
- 42:32Speaker 2: and that's for sure, and I'm very blessed. But I'll
- 42:35Speaker 2: tell you this, there's so many of our families who
- 42:38Speaker 2: really need our help.
- 42:39Speaker 3: The problem is, though, and we'll say this and we'll
- 42:41Speaker 3: go to break and I'll guess more questions here for you.
- 42:44Speaker 3: The problem is is you say you're over the political rhetoric.
- 42:47Speaker 3: I say, even as a talk show host that does
- 42:49Speaker 3: this for four hours a day, I'm over it. Sure
- 42:51Speaker 3: a lot of people aren't, though, and especially and here's
- 42:54Speaker 3: the thing, mayor, especially.
- 42:55Speaker 7: If you're just sad and people are angry.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Well especially, I tell you who really loves it are
- 42:59Speaker 3: the people many of them that are in office. They
- 43:03Speaker 3: love it.
- 43:03Speaker 7: Not this woman.
- 43:04Speaker 3: I know I'm talking about more than national Well, this
- 43:07Speaker 3: is what you know. They like the pod being stirred.
- 43:10Speaker 3: That's well.
- 43:11Speaker 2: Boots on the ground, folks who we're the folks who
- 43:13Speaker 2: pick up your trash, We saw your roads, We take
- 43:15Speaker 2: care of your kiddos. I'm over at I've got a
- 43:17Speaker 2: job to do this as my job.

- 46:21Speaker 3: It's about the community, Charleston Mayor Amy shult were a
- 46:23Speaker 3: good one. Is here all right? It's ready for a
- 46:25Speaker 3: few questions, Hey man, David Mayor, good one. I was
- 46:28Speaker 3: one of the people that criticized you about the seats
- 46:30Speaker 3: in the coliseum. I want to personally in public thank
- 46:34Speaker 3: you for getting them fixed. Much appreciate.
- 46:36Speaker 7: Yay, well good.
- 46:37Speaker 2: That is coming up this week. We are going to
- 46:39Speaker 2: have a presidentence that we're going to have everybody come
- 46:41Speaker 2: in and try out the cushy seats and see them.
- 46:45Speaker 2: So it's going to be really great. It's something that
- 46:49Speaker 2: we've needed for a really long period of time. When
- 46:51Speaker 2: the renovations were done to the coliseum in Convention Center,
- 46:54Speaker 2: it was something that wasn't done. And if you have
- 46:56Speaker 2: spent hours watching a show in.
- 46:58Speaker 7: Those uncomfortable chairs that were.
- 47:01Speaker 2: Literally falling apart, please come and enjoy now forever more
- 47:07Speaker 2: nice big seats. And people are going to say, why
- 47:10Speaker 2: did you make it one color? Why did you make
- 47:12Speaker 2: it the because when you're in the I've learned a lot.
- 47:15Speaker 7: Gosh, you was, I've learned so much.
- 47:16Speaker 2: It's because when you have the bottom bowl filled, or
- 47:19Speaker 2: you're having a small group or a small show, the
- 47:23Speaker 2: top what we'd have to buy is all those drapes
- 47:25Speaker 2: to kind of block out because it was before by
- 47:28Speaker 2: the way it.
- 47:28Speaker 7: Was in style back then.
- 47:30Speaker 2: Some are pink, some are orange, some are purplely some
- 47:33Speaker 2: are and they were so bright it would be distracting
- 47:36Speaker 2: to the performers and to the audience. And so there
- 47:39Speaker 2: is a method behind the madness. You know, why didn't
- 47:41Speaker 2: you do in blue and gold? There's a reason. This
- 47:43Speaker 2: is what bigger stadiums are doing. We looked at them.
- 47:47Speaker 2: We worked with the board over there to make sure
- 47:49Speaker 2: that they are comfortable seats, they have what they need.
- 47:52Speaker 2: They're clean, clean, clean, clean, and they're sturdy. So yay,
- 47:57Speaker 2: come and enjoy.
- 47:58Speaker 3: Teke says. The You MUNISIP a lot of stry and
- 48:00Speaker 3: was shuttered in twenty twenty four, twenty three. Will any
- 48:02Speaker 3: details or plans be revealed for it soon?
- 48:06Speaker 7: Yes, that is my that is my hope.
- 48:08Speaker 2: We had a meeting with the folks that I asked
- 48:12Speaker 2: that they go in to see what could be salvaged,
- 48:15Speaker 2: what could not be on the outer structure of the walls,
- 48:19Speaker 2: and what what we could do in terms of building
- 48:22Speaker 2: on that site. That site is really weird. The only
- 48:25Speaker 2: the best way I can describe it. David's kind of whippywod.
- 48:27Speaker 2: It's kind of termed sideway whippy.
- 48:31Speaker 3: That's an official architectural term.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Stepan, It's a West Virginia whippie wood. We call my
- 48:36Speaker 2: mom honey honey. It's a honey term. It's a honey trick,
- 48:40Speaker 2: and so it doesn't really utilize to the best of
- 48:43Speaker 2: its ability that entire space. But we look to make
- 48:48Speaker 2: an announcement, and I say announcement loosely plans.
- 48:51Speaker 7: You know, I don't.
- 48:52Speaker 2: I don't have a magic wand to say this is
- 48:54Speaker 2: what we're going to do. Certainly we have community input,
- 48:57Speaker 2: but the thing that I was charged to do is
- 48:59Speaker 2: make sure that if we spend dollar, I get the
- 49:01Speaker 2: best and highest use for that dollar. And I can
- 49:04Speaker 2: promise you that's exactly what I'm going to do when
- 49:06Speaker 2: we reimagine what the municipal Auditorium should look like.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Texas mayor a goodwe Do you have any information on
- 49:11Speaker 3: the schedule for painting to the Washington Street Bridge. I
- 49:13Speaker 3: know it's a state bridge, but it's very important to
- 49:16Speaker 3: the city. It's rusting to the ground.
- 49:17Speaker 2: It is well that they are working on it, they
- 49:19Speaker 2: are fixing it. I don't right off the top of
- 49:21Speaker 2: my head, I don't, but if you call my office
- 49:23Speaker 2: three four eight eight one seven four, I'll try to
- 49:25Speaker 2: track that down for you.
- 49:27Speaker 3: Any thought of bringing back the Kenaw County Fair maybe
- 49:29Speaker 3: in having any Cata or Coonskin that'd be more of
- 49:31Speaker 3: a county Commission.
- 49:31Speaker 7: Yeah, but I mean listen.
- 49:32Speaker 2: I think that one thing that we do extremely well,
- 49:35Speaker 2: which unfortunately a lot of cities and counties don't do
- 49:37Speaker 2: well across the state, is we have such a great,
- 49:40Speaker 2: close working relationship with them. Certainly I would love it
- 49:44Speaker 2: right after we get the car shop back.
- 49:46Speaker 3: Yeah, nine fifty seven, I see what you did there.
- 49:50Speaker 3: The day Dolland Show on five eighty Live is brought
- 49:52Speaker 3: to you part by Live Healthy West Virginia presented by
- 49:54Speaker 3: WVU Medicine. It's a podcast promoting healthier lifestyles than to
- 49:57Speaker 3: be on the state. Check avilatest episode's wv metro news
- 50:00Speaker 3: dot com the podcast menu.
- 50:02Speaker 2: Also, I would be remiss if I didn't say supplemental
- 50:06Speaker 2: leaf collection is coming up. So I started when I
- 50:10Speaker 2: was mayor because I didn't believe that we were doing
- 50:12Speaker 2: a good enough job doing customer service. My job is
- 50:14Speaker 2: customer service. I put a system in and it's called cueler.
- 50:17Speaker 2: You call my office, I write it down, it's on
- 50:20Speaker 2: the computer.
- 50:20Speaker 7: You get a number. Not long gone are the pink
- 50:22Speaker 7: stickies that.
- 50:23Speaker 2: Say why you are out? TJ called and he wants
- 50:25Speaker 2: a pothole fix. Well, now it's put into the system
- 50:28Speaker 2: in the system. This time of year, we have so
- 50:30Speaker 2: many leaf pickup collections. We are one of the only
- 50:35Speaker 2: cities that actually do supplemental leaf collection. If I say
- 50:39Speaker 2: supplemental one more time, I win a prize back of
- 50:42Speaker 2: the office, often as Stintson, we'll give it to me.
- 50:45Speaker 2: So supplemental leaf collection bag leaves get picked up on
- 50:49Speaker 2: trash day, no limits. Rake leaves once a week or
- 50:52Speaker 2: twice a season, weather permitting. That doesn't mean if you
- 50:56Speaker 2: rake them all towards your driveway, I'm coming to get
- 50:59Speaker 2: them tomorrow. That doesn't always happen. So I just allow
- 51:04Speaker 2: that to sink in during these last thirty seconds that
- 51:07Speaker 2: we have, supplemental leaf collection begins.
- 51:10Speaker 3: And real quick, I know you were out testing, not
- 51:12Speaker 3: you personally, but I mean, knowing you, you probably were
- 51:15Speaker 3: the salt trucks. The salt trucks.
- 51:17Speaker 7: I know how to do salt trucks.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Brian Hughes, I know.
- 51:19Speaker 7: I do britten in them many many a year.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Brian Hughes tells me meteorologists Brian Hughes, that we're going
- 51:24Speaker 3: to have snow next Monday. Now, granted it's November and
- 51:28Speaker 3: it's way too we're not talking to accumulation or anything
- 51:31Speaker 3: like that. But it will be here before you know it.
- 51:33Speaker 3: Give me about twenty seconds on we.
- 51:35Speaker 2: We stocked up on salt, salt, salt. My dad still
- 51:38Speaker 2: is a farmer's almanac guy, and he still believes in it.
- 51:41Speaker 2: He makes sure that we have enough salt. Again, I'm
- 51:44Speaker 2: fifty four of my parents. Do you have enough salt?
- 51:46Speaker 2: How are the blades? Do you have them repaired? We do, everybody,
- 51:50Speaker 2: including you Dad, Yes, I have them done.
- 51:52Speaker 7: We're ready to go.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Aston, Mary Meschuler, Goodwin, I'll see you later. Thanks a lot,
