  Unfortunately, many Christians open the door wide for the world to come into their mind.

  Christians need to guide their mind even more fervently than they guard their
• 1:14
  possessions. For through the mind, the devil begins to rule your heart.

  Hello, and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
• 1:41
  And we're going to talk about in this lesson on how we should fill our mind.
• 1:46
  It seems to me that we are subtly bombarded time and time again,
• 1:52
  day after day, with little darts of the devil.
• 1:55
  And we know for a fact that greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world.
• 2:01
  We know for a fact that we've been covered by his blood and that the devil is
• 2:05
  already defeated and that the victory is ours. We know for a fact that his grace
• 2:09
  is sufficient and we are absolutely confident that.
• 2:14
  That we are more than conquerors through Christ Jesus. Yet I believe day after
• 2:18
  day, battles are lost to the devil, not because they should be,
• 2:22
  but because we throw up the white flag.
• 2:25
  And perhaps we do this without even realizing it, because we give the devil so much room in our life.
• 2:33
  He has no place in our walk, has no place in our talk, and believe you me,
• 2:39
  he cannot penetrate the blood of Jesus, which covers me.
• 2:45
  But i can open up the door and allow him in,
• 2:49
  and the way we do this oftentimes is through the things that we see the things that we discuss,
• 2:57
  and the things on which we think and contemplate too many times in our lives
• 3:03
  we find ourselves watching things that then teach us evil ways and we don't
• 3:10
  necessarily say today i'm going to watch this 30 minute program on tv so that
• 3:15
  i can learn to be a sinful wicked person,
• 3:18
  what we do is much more subtle than that the devil knows that if he knocked
• 3:22
  on your door and said i'm going to take the next 30 minutes of your life and
• 3:27
  i'm going to sit in front of you and i'm going to instruct you on evil ways that no christian
• 3:32
  would say come on in let's spend 30 minutes together and do that,
• 3:37
  instead he does it kind of wrapped,
• 3:40
  in other things that are seemingly okay,
• 3:43
  such as for instance we don't feel that there's anything wrong whatsoever with
• 3:49
  with sports and playing sports but don't you think it's interesting that there
• 3:53
  are seven days a week and the super bowl is always played on sunday don't you think that's funny?
• 3:58
  Because during the week, guess what? There's Monday Night Football.
• 4:02
  But why is it that we play Super Bowl Sunday on Super Bowl Sunday?
• 4:08
  It could be Super Bowl Monday.
• 4:10
  But the world has deemed it as that, and so it does.
• 4:15
  And an interesting thing happens when we go to church on Super Bowl Sunday.
• 4:21
  We see people who are otherwise very devout Christians taking the night off.
• 4:27
  And that in itself, perhaps, is not all that horrible.
• 4:31
  What's horrible is is what they're saying is i don't want to be at the house
• 4:35
  of god as much as i want to be in this recreational activity i don't want to
• 4:39
  be at the house of god any more than i want to do this,
• 4:44
  i love this particular event more than i do drawing closer to god and hearing
• 4:49
  his word spoken that's the shameful part,
• 4:54
  we don't necessarily watch tv programs that are horrible but the world has got
• 5:01
  to where tv commercials are obscene,
• 5:06
  and you can be sitting there watching even a very benign germane program and
• 5:11
  have to turn it off for shampoo commercials or for selling of advertisements
• 5:17
  of things we don't need to see hear about or know about.
• 5:21
  That's just a subtle creep in but then there are those who entertain thoughts,
• 5:27
  the da vinci code well i don't believe it but it's a good book and so they read it,
• 5:33
  and then they begin to think about it the bible says that too much knowledge
• 5:37
  is weariness to the mind so sometimes we get and we study and we study and we
• 5:40
  study and we study on the subject and what happens is we study faith right out the window,
• 5:46
  because we can't get it to meet our timeline.
• 5:49
  I was recently involved in a discussion. I was involved very briefly in the
• 5:54
  discussion because it soon turned to what I thought was idleness,
• 5:58
  and I will not argue the Bible.
• 5:59
  I won't argue the scriptures, and I won't compromise them, and I won't apologize for them.
• 6:05
  But I was involved for a brief amount of time in a conversation on how old the earth was.
• 6:11
  And these individuals knew that I was a trained scientists and knew that i no
• 6:14
  doubt had been taught certain things,
• 6:16
  and i watched these people have a conversation that reached escalation to where
• 6:23
  they were bickering and battering at each other and they were brothers in christ.
• 6:27
  And they began to study they began to study and this one began to do this and
• 6:31
  said well the scripture says this is well it doesn't make sense with what what
• 6:35
  what's been found in the world and i began to watch a christian try to take
• 6:39
  the world to prove the scriptures,
• 6:42
  and i said i'm out of here,
• 6:44
  this is craziness i don't have to prove the scriptures he proved them i don't
• 6:48
  have to understand how it all fits together i have to understand that it does
• 6:53
  because he said it and that settles it,
• 6:56
  i don't have any part of it what we do is we think on things that we should
• 7:01
  never think of and it's the devil who gets us off in that track,
• 7:05
  we see things on tv,
• 7:08
  that somehow get in the back of our mind and if you think i'm wrong just think
• 7:13
  about something scary that you've thought about in the middle of the night.
• 7:16
  Like something like you thought someone was going to break into your house,
• 7:19
  or perhaps you thought someone was going to come in and kill you, or those things.
• 7:22
  Most of you, within the sound of my voice, blessed be the God,
• 7:26
  have never had any of those things happen to you.
• 7:28
  But you've seen it so often on TV that the devil kind of places it in your mind
• 7:32
  because that's evil, yucky stuff.
• 7:34
  And then when the lights go out and it's quiet and something happens,
• 7:37
  that's what you see because you've been tempted by something you've seen that
• 7:41
  you should never have seen in the first place.
• 7:43
  We expose our children and ourselves and our minds to games and to videos and
• 7:48
  to books and to TV shows and to songs and to all these things.
• 7:53
  I remember as a child growing up that my parents wouldn't let me listen to most
• 7:59
  any secular song, but certainly not a certain genre of songs.
• 8:04
  And I couldn't understand it
• 8:05
  because when I was, you know, listening to them, they sounded fine to me.
• 8:09
  But there were innuendos and there were there were connotations and there were
• 8:14
  things that i did not need to have in my mind so that as i grew up older i would
• 8:18
  not be tempted by those type of emotions and those type of things.
• 8:23
  We've lost that in the world today parents let their kids do anything,
• 8:27
  they let them see anything go anywhere do whatever and they say oh that's okay
• 8:31
  we're just we don't want them to be sheltered we can't take them out of the world
• 8:34
  and they need to know how to navigate in the world let me tell you what you
• 8:37
  navigate in the world while following jesus christ and you can't take me out
• 8:42
  of the world but i don't have to put the world in me
• 8:45
  the bible says in philippians chapter 4 and verse 8,
• 8:48
  finally brethren whatsoever things are true whatsoever things are honest whatsoever
• 8:53
  things are just whatsoever things are pure,
• 8:57
  whatsoever things are lovely whatsoever things are of good report if there be
• 9:02
  any virtue and if there be any praise think on these things if you are thinking
• 9:08
  on these things you cannot be tormented,
• 9:11
  it's an interesting thing you can ask a child nowadays or someone who's in junior
• 9:16
  high what the word pure means,
• 9:18
  and it's very different,
• 9:21
  than what would have been given to you even in my day. You see,
• 9:24
  because purity, though it really hasn't changed, and purity,
• 9:28
  though it still stands for justice and still stands for Christ and still stands for holiness,
• 9:33
  in this world has been watered down, tampered down, beaten down,
• 9:36
  and absolutely dissolved into a mesh of junk so that anything goes and everything's okay.
• 9:43
  Let me tell you, the Bible says sin is sin.
• 9:47
  And we fall prey to sin because we give too much time to the devil.
• 9:52
  I take you back to a familiar story out of the book of genesis you know what
• 9:56
  eve's big downfall was she had a conversation with the devil,
• 10:01
  she didn't leave she should have said whoa abstain from all parents of evil
• 10:05
  get the devil out of here i don't need to be here what did she do well let's reason about,
• 10:10
  it i'm going to i'm just going to talk to him about it and the longer he talked
• 10:14
  the more sense he made the longer she stayed with him the more he could convince
• 10:19
  her of something you see had she turned around and walked away the devil could
• 10:23
  have never got a hold of her,
• 10:25
  that's why the bible says resist the devil and he'll flee from you,
• 10:29
  you ever think about that resist
• 10:30
  him and he'll flee he's not a patient person but he doesn't have to be,
• 10:34
  as christians we just let him in come on hang out with me,
• 10:38
  because there's pleasure in sin for a season but the bible says be not deceived
• 10:42
  god is not mocked whatsoever man so if that shall he also reap
• 10:45
  you watch murderers and you watch killings and you watch deaths and you watch
• 10:48
  all of a sudden next thing you know you can't stand to be alone you can't stand
• 10:52
  to be in the quiet you can't stand
• 10:53
  anything that's dark you got to have noise and people all around you because
• 10:56
  you're scared senseless that something's going to happen to you,
• 10:59
  because you've just gotten the devil so deep inside of you and what you've seen,
• 11:04
  and you filled yourself with the evilness of satan,
• 11:08
  that you're still a good folks and you're still okay and all those kind of things
• 11:12
  but you're tormented inside and the pureness of god isn't leaking out of you
• 11:16
  because you've got it all clouded up with the evilness that you allow in.
• 11:21
  Some of you have decided you don't even need to go to church.
• 11:24
  You'll just watch it on TV.
• 11:26
  Now, I'm going to radio minister and evangelist, and I think that that is great
• 11:31
  and wonderful, but that doesn't take place of assembling yourselves together with godly people.
• 11:37
  See, we are edified by the blessings that other people have.
• 11:40
  We are edified by the works that Christ does in them. We are inspired and motivated
• 11:45
  by the works they do in Christ.
• 11:47
  There's no substitution for that. And you say, well, I don't have time.
• 11:51
  Will take away some of the other things in your life.
• 11:54
  My friend, what you put in your mind is what's going to come out because the
• 11:58
  Bible says out of the heart, the mouth speaketh.
• 12:02
  What we cram into our mind tends to be what we push down in our heart and that
• 12:06
  shows up in our everyday life.
• 12:09
  But the Bible says that we are to think on things that are true.
• 12:12
  The devil is false. Don't have any part with him.
• 12:15
  That we're to think of things that are honest. We need to be a person who stands
• 12:18
  by the word and who does the things they're supposed to do.
• 12:21
  We need to be just and a person of integrity. We need to think on the things
• 12:25
  of God so that the devil has no place in our life.
• 12:31
  My friends, you need to fill your mind with God.
• 12:34
  Ask and ye shall receive. Seek and ye shall find.
• 12:39
  Knock and it shall be added unto you. And if there be any praise,
• 12:45
