- 0:09What's going on, Alyx? Hey, what's going on?
- 0:12Good to be back. Oh, you got a good mic. I got
- 0:14to talk to you about what your mic is. Hey, congrats
- 0:17on a Knicks champion. You're a lifelong Knicks
- 0:19fan. How'd it feel, bro? Because I'm not a Knicks
- 0:21fan. I'm a huge NBA fan. It felt great, man.
- 0:23Something about the culture. It just felt really
- 0:25good. And Jalen Brunson balled out. It felt surreal,
- 0:28man. I mean, we haven't had a championship in
- 0:30the tri -state area, not including the WNBA,
- 0:34right, because Liberty won a couple years ago.
- 0:36But we haven't had a championship since the Super
- 0:39Bowl, you know, when I was in college, when the
- 0:41Giants beat the Patriots for the second time.
- 0:42And so with all the disappointment from the Yankees
- 0:46and even from Mets fans and the Giants and Jets
- 0:48have been abysmal for the last five plus years,
- 0:52especially the Jets, it's sweet. It's sweet.
- 0:55And it's one of those things where the world
- 0:56hates New York, but New York loves, loves being
- 1:01the villain, loves just being back. And it's
- 1:05so sweet. And like, who better to lead the charge
- 1:07than Jalen Brunson? I mean, he's like the most
- 1:09likable superstar in all of sports. And that's,
- 1:13you know, obviously a jaded opinion, but. What's
- 1:15not to like about the guy? Come on. We have Jalen
- 1:18Brunson is unreal. I mean, one me over and probably
- 1:21a lot of people. We have another New York fan
- 1:23down below in a slot. We have Richie Rich in
- 1:27Japan in a bed. And Alyx, I know you didn't see
- 1:30this coming. We'll get to what, you know, we'll
- 1:32get to your subject. It's all good. I have time.
- 1:33Okay, all right. So let's throw Dan. I'm not
- 1:35derailing Alyx. I just want to say lifelong Knicks
- 1:38fan. So Alyx just wanted to say, dude, it was
- 1:40surreal. I'll let you get back to it, man. But
- 1:43yeah, this is like I've been bathing in champagne
- 1:45all week. This is it doesn't feel real. Oh, I
- 1:48didn't realize that was Dan. What's up, Dan?
- 1:50What's up, Alyx? Yeah, sorry. Like I said, man,
- 1:52I wasn't trying to derail you. I want to hear
- 1:53you talk as well. But no, man, had to hop in
- 1:55real quick. Dan's the homie. I have three Knicks
- 1:58fans here. Every time De 'Aaron Fox shot in the
- 2:01fourth quarter of Game 5, I was all for it. I'm
- 2:03sure you guys, as Knicks fans, I was like, yep,
- 2:05keep shooting, Fox. Keep shooting. I'm not a
- 2:07Knicks fan. I want to piggyback on your point.
- 2:10My godson and me, he's a diehard Knicks fan.
- 2:13He was watching Frank Ntilikina at JMU when they
- 2:16were terrible. We were saying that if De 'Aaron
- 2:19Fox took the shots, they were going to win the
- 2:21series. Don't have Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper
- 2:24run the pick and roll or take the shots. We were
- 2:27confident. And look at what happened. It was
- 2:29insane. Yeah, man. It's speculation. And Rich,
- 2:32to your point earlier about Harper versus Knueppel,
- 2:34who's the better buy? It all ties back to speculation.
- 2:37And, you know, at the end of the day, we're never
- 2:39going to know what the outcome is going to be.
- 2:41Nobody knew that Wemby was going to ricochet
- 2:44the ball off of Castle's back in, what was that,
- 2:47game two? right like that's why it's so important
- 2:50to We'll get into this. The other thing that
- 2:53I want to say on it, because I had that thought,
- 2:55I'm glad you brought it back up, was Frank just
- 2:57called it and said it's VJ Edgecombe, a great
- 2:59player. Cooper Flagg is a great player. Luka
- 3:02hasn't won. There's so many great players, but
- 3:05you have to be able to sell it to the mass. This
- 3:08is the hysteria. This is the push. Dylan Harper
- 3:11is always going to get overshadowed by Wemby
- 3:13when the Spurs do well. Will he get a little
- 3:15climb? Sure. And this new draft class, there's
- 3:19always going to be... draft class is insane somebody's
- 3:22gonna be insane and the hype around it's gonna
- 3:24be at a new level i just want to know because
- 3:27i got text messages from it like it's not personal
- 3:29you know and if you bought low that's great i
- 3:31just think that the better buy was dylan harper
- 3:34that's that's it you know and i and i saw it
- 3:36happen at a card show because my brother did
- 3:38it and he still got more cases real quick i just
- 3:41want to jump in real quick on that point rich
- 3:43you know it's so situational too like dylan harper
- 3:46was drafted by the spurs What if Dylan Harper
- 3:49was drafted by the Wizards? What if he was drafted
- 3:51by the Cats? Don't get me wrong. I'm 10 minutes
- 3:54from Rutgers. I'm a huge Dylan Harper guy. I
- 3:56love his game. I love what he stands for. I think
- 3:58he's going to be a superstar regardless. But
- 4:00you put any of these superstars on the Spurs,
- 4:03Flagg, Knueppel, VJ. You're 100 % right, Alyx.
- 4:07Yeah, I agree. That's a great point. Go ahead,
- 4:09defend yourself, Blue Red, or what do you want
- 4:11to say? My plan was I was going to sell it during
- 4:13the season, and I didn't expect Beckett to take
- 4:16so long, and that wasn't my fault. So I tried
- 4:19selling them during the season. Yeah, just so
- 4:22I can back you up. You told me you bought these
- 4:24rainbows. Go ahead. I literally got it back.
- 4:28As soon as they lost the series, and what I should
- 4:31have done is I should have went to a casino and
- 4:33made a bet because I knew that Kon Knueppel
- 4:35was going to break the rookie three -point record.
- 4:37Literally right before the season. He told me
- 4:39he bought the Rainbows in October and November.
- 4:41I'm sorry to keep interrupting you. I just want
- 4:43to explain the story. He sent them in in November,
- 4:46December, and didn't get them back until playoff
- 4:48time after he already lost rookie of the year.
- 4:50That's terrible. That's a bad job on Beckett.
- 4:53Yeah, yeah. Sorry, Blue Red. I just wanted to
- 4:55make sure to explain that because, yeah, I mean,
- 4:57that's screwy. Hey, Blue Red. Hey, Blue Red.
- 5:00I got something for Blue Red real quick. con
- 5:02can nipples the goods he's he's in low you're
- 5:04good we talked about this last last time on the
- 5:07show i believe that the hornets are going to
- 5:08have a better performance this year upcoming
- 5:09than last year so what's up good blue red you
- 5:13said something before that really hit home for
- 5:15me you were talking about the Ozzie Albies card
- 5:18and you were talking about how you bought that
- 5:19card because you thought it looked cool you bought
- 5:22it because you liked it right it wasn't about
- 5:23the value That's what it's all about, man. That's
- 5:26what we're trying to encourage, especially young
- 5:28collectors. Like, don't worry about your bad
- 5:31buys or like, you know, missing the boat on certain
- 5:33rookies. Like, dude, I don't know how old you
- 5:35are. 21. Collect your young guy. Collect what
- 5:38you like. Collect what makes you happy, man.
- 5:40Don't worry about like the ROI and the profit.
- 5:43And I don't want to sound preachy saying this,
- 5:44but like, that's what the hobby is all about,
- 5:46man. Go buy that Ozzie Albies. Like, go buy the
- 5:48$5 Knueppel card because you like it. Don't
- 5:51worry about how much you're going to sell it
- 5:52for in a month. Yeah, because my plan is I'm
- 5:55probably going to trade those Kon Knueppels for
- 5:57like a Tyler Shough rookie card because I'm looking
- 6:00at what the Saints are going to do. And I think
- 6:02it's a better buy. Football is a better purchase,
- 6:05in my opinion. But he's still thinking along
- 6:08the lines of growth. And, you know, that's that's
- 6:10what a lot of them. All right. That's fine. Yeah,
- 6:13that's what it is. That's the living. That's
- 6:15the dream. That's the dream. That's right. Responsibly,
- 6:19fellas. All right, Blue Red, we love you. Alyx
- 6:21can't help but smirk at it too. Maybe so, maybe
- 6:24not. So Alyx, you hit me up the other day and
- 6:27I think you're excited about something. I don't
- 6:29know much about it. We're a skeptical bunch here,
- 6:32but I let you know, my stepdad passed away when
- 6:35I was 21 from overdosing. He overdosed on meth.
- 6:39And so I know addiction. And my brother had tens
- 6:41and tens of thousands of dollars in sports gambling
- 6:43that now is gone. And I respect him a lot for
- 6:47overcoming it after a decade long of a fight.
- 6:49with it. So, you know, I understand addiction.
- 6:51I respect you for that. And so explain what you
- 6:55have going here. What changed or what's different
- 6:57about this than what it used to be? Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:01I appreciate it, Jason. I want to take a moment
- 7:03just to address Charles. Can I do that real quick?
- 7:05Yeah. Before I say anything, I just want to give
- 7:09a shout out to a few. Dan already came on. Petty.
- 7:13Petty said, smile more. That was something he
- 7:15said last time I was on. Like, dude, you got
- 7:17to smile more. So. I'm just trying to be more
- 7:19uplifting, positive. That's what we are, and
- 7:22I want to showcase that. Ziggy as well. Ziggy
- 7:25and I have had our differences in the past, but
- 7:27he's come around and been really supportive.
- 7:29I know not everybody here necessarily gets along,
- 7:33and people will go back and forth and banter.
- 7:36I want to say something about Charles. Look,
- 7:38I know he can be polarizing in this live. People
- 7:41are entitled to their opinions. One thing we've
- 7:44always tried to do at Collectors MD is operate
- 7:47kind of as Switzerland, right? We try our absolute
- 7:50best not to get involved in the hobby politics
- 7:52and the gossip and taking sides. We're all about
- 7:55just meeting people where they are and appreciating
- 7:58anyone who genuinely wants to help and make the
- 8:01hobby a healthier place. And so with that said,
- 8:03I can tell you this about Charles. Behind closed
- 8:06doors, Charles has done an incredible amount
- 8:09in our community, completely out of the goodness
- 8:11of his heart. And I'm not just saying this to
- 8:13blow smoke. He didn't tell me to say any of this.
- 8:15I haven't even spoken to him tonight. He volunteers
- 8:17his time to help facilitate a peer support meeting
- 8:20once a month, something he doesn't have to do,
- 8:22but he does. He has contributed to our daily
- 8:25reflections. He's helped me with social media.
- 8:27He's been hosting one of our podcasts. And he's
- 8:31been there for countless conversations behind
- 8:33the scenes and helping people that are really,
- 8:35really struggling with addiction. And none of
- 8:37that is paid. None of it comes with any sort
- 8:39of expectation or recognition. He simply believes
- 8:42in the mission and the work we're doing and genuinely
- 8:44wants to help people. And so I think that actually
- 8:47speaks volumes about people's opinions and perceptions
- 8:50of others in the hobby, right? Everybody kind
- 8:53of judges a book by its cover. They see you at
- 8:55face value. They see you in a live chat. They
- 8:57see you on social media. They see you in a highlight
- 8:59reel. We've had the privilege of seeing another
- 9:02side of Charles over the last year, and he's
- 9:04genuinely become an incredibly valuable member
- 9:07of our community. So whether someone agrees with
- 9:09him or not, has an opinion, the support and care
- 9:13he's shown our members, and I've seen firsthand
- 9:15behind the scene, has been very real, and we're
- 9:18incredibly grateful for it. I appreciate that.
- 9:20And I've always welcomed Charles on, even with
- 9:22some rough moments with Chad. Charles is always
- 9:25out of place here. And then it got a little weird
- 9:28in the past month, but fine. But what gets me
- 9:31here is now there's a troll post against me and
- 9:34he's liking it. And, you know, so that's up to
- 9:36Charles to do that. But that stings a bit. You
- 9:39know, I hear you. I don't know anything about
- 9:41that. Like I said, like we try to make sure to
- 9:43like everything that's, you know, anti me. And
- 9:46so, you know, it stings a little. We have built
- 9:48a human relationship here and he's been a firecracker
- 9:53here, which community hates and loves at the
- 9:55same time, you know. All of these accusations
- 9:58and the comments in the chat, like, I don't know
- 10:00any about this stuff. All I see is what I see
- 10:03him doing behind closed doors and helping people.
- 10:05And so I believe that, you know, I'd be remiss
- 10:08not to say that. And I'm glad we had the discussion
- 10:11because again, it's kind of an elephant in the
- 10:12room and I think you did a good job helping out
- 10:14or speaking from Charles side. So the collector
- 10:16MD launches a CMD Foundation nonprofit. So go
- 10:20ahead, give us a rundown of what's different
- 10:22from what it was to this or both still exist
- 10:25or. Yeah. So it's funny, Jason, because when
- 10:29I first came on your show last November, I think
- 10:31it was Thanksgiving Eve. One of the biggest questions
- 10:33people had, and there was a lot of pushback and
- 10:36people questioning my motives and things of that
- 10:38nature. The question was, why isn't Collectors MD
- 10:42a nonprofit? And at the time, the honest answer
- 10:45was that we were still just trying to figure
- 10:47things out. Right. We had already built a meaningful
- 10:49community and knew that there were issues that
- 10:51were deeply resonating with people. But we didn't
- 10:52want to rush into creating a nonprofit simply
- 10:55because it sounded good on paper, just like for
- 10:57the sake of it. Right. We wanted to better understand
- 11:00where the needs existed, what gaps needed to
- 11:02be filled and how we could build something thoughtful
- 11:04and sustainable. And so over the last six months,
- 11:07we've really helped hundreds of individuals through
- 11:09our peer support meetings, our online communities,
- 11:12our educational resources, our referral network
- 11:14partnerships across both the hobby and. recovery
- 11:17spaces. And we've started to receive national
- 11:20media attention from outlets like the Wall Street
- 11:22Journal article coming out in a couple of weeks.
- 11:24GQ article coming out in a couple of weeks. The
- 11:27New York Times mentioned us a couple of weeks
- 11:29ago. Barron's is an article that they're working
- 11:30on. And I'm not saying all of that to like, you
- 11:33know. boast or to, it's just the fact it showcases
- 11:36that this is a real problem and it is starting
- 11:39to garner national media attention. And honestly,
- 11:42the conversation has just gotten much bigger
- 11:44than us. I want to, I'm going to preface it this
- 11:46way. I have an asshole question to ask. It's
- 11:49not a personal attack at all. It's just something
- 11:51that pops in my head. I was, I went to watch
- 11:54the UFC fights out at a, you know, with friend
- 11:57and we were talking, we're talking about, you
- 11:59know, how a lot of these corporations, bigger
- 12:01ones, And I forget the exact word to use, but
- 12:04it's almost like a social credit. So Philip Morris,
- 12:08who makes cigarettes, will also have, you know,
- 12:11they'll still have a hand or own the company
- 12:14that is trying to give you help on cigarettes.
- 12:17And so I think we're the distinction that anyone
- 12:20that has that type of thought in their head.
- 12:23You know, I've known you now for a while. We've
- 12:25talked and everyone you've seen who you help
- 12:27and, you know, some of those people I've talked
- 12:29with. So it seems to come off from a genuine
- 12:31place. But corporate America has this thing where
- 12:34they want to sell you a vice, but then also to
- 12:37look good or make sure they have their self covered.
- 12:40They want to show how noble they are by offering
- 12:43a solution as well. And so. I guess, you know,
- 12:47I don't think this sparked from that. I don't
- 12:49think that's the connection here, but I think
- 12:51it's worth throwing out to, you know, hear from
- 12:53you that no, that's what's not going on or, you
- 12:55know, and obviously I'm putting you in a weird
- 12:56spot. It's in a bit of an asshole question, but
- 12:58that's just what comes in my head a little bit.
- 13:00Yeah. Yeah. I appreciate you asking that. Fanatics,
- 13:03Whatnot, Collectors, Arena Club, eBay, the list
- 13:06goes on. None of them have taken my calls. There's
- 13:10been a few responses here and there. I've had
- 13:13a few preliminary conversations with some folks
- 13:16at Whatnot. They don't want us to be associated
- 13:19with their business because at the end of the
- 13:22day, it forces them to acknowledge the elephant
- 13:24in the room, which is the G word that they all
- 13:26refuse to use. Without oversharing, I could tell
- 13:29you that as part of some of that media coverage
- 13:31that I just mentioned, they've also been in contact
- 13:34with Whatnot. They've also been in contact with
- 13:37Fanatics. And when Collectors MD is brought up,
- 13:39it's like, we have no idea what they're about,
- 13:42what they're doing. We don't work with any. We're
- 13:44not working with the platforms. Now, if or when
- 13:46the opportunity presents itself where we can
- 13:48put a disclaimer across the Whatnot app so that
- 13:50people are aware of the risk and the harm that's
- 13:53involved, we're all for that. But to date, we've
- 13:56received no attention, no payments, nothing like
- 13:59that. And we already talked about this whole
- 14:01corporate plant conspiracy and paid actor bullshit.
- 14:04Like, dude, at the end of the day, this is coming
- 14:07from my heart. It's coming from my own lived
- 14:08experience as a recovering gambling addict to
- 14:10somebody who's been in recovery now for three
- 14:13plus years. I would go to GA rooms. I would feel
- 14:16like I wasn't resonating with people because
- 14:18they had no idea what I was talking about when
- 14:20I brought up the breaks and the cards and the
- 14:22gambling adjacent behaviors. that are going on.
- 14:25I said to myself, there has to be a space for
- 14:27this. I was shocked that there wasn't. And so
- 14:29I created it myself. And so let's go back to
- 14:32the nonprofit. Oh, yeah. And that was perfect.
- 14:34That's actually the question I wanted to ask.
- 14:36So why nonprofit or what? Yeah. What's the difference
- 14:38here? Yeah. Why are you excited? What we've seen
- 14:42in the last six months. to a year is that there's
- 14:45no infrastructure supporting people and families
- 14:46impacted by compulsive collecting, gambling -like
- 14:49behaviors, financial harm in these spaces. And
- 14:51that's really why we're excited about The CMD
- 14:54Foundation. So this isn't about becoming a charity
- 14:57overnight or abandoning what Collectors MD already
- 15:00is. It's the next step for us. It's the next
- 15:02evolution of the mission. And so Collectors MD
- 15:05LLC will continue focusing on the content, education,
- 15:08partnerships, community building, and the nonprofit
- 15:10gives us the ability to fund and expand things
- 15:14like the peer support programming, the educational
- 15:17initiatives, the outreach efforts, the scholarship
- 15:20programs for people who otherwise may not have
- 15:22access to real help. And so in a lot of ways,
- 15:25it feels like we've gone from simply raising
- 15:27awareness and saying, hey, this problem exists,
- 15:30to now being able to say, okay, how do we actually
- 15:33build lasting resources and support systems around
- 15:35it? And honestly, that's incredibly exciting
- 15:38because it feels like we're moving from a movement
- 15:40to building something that can have a real lasting
- 15:42impact in terms of helping people. I know we've
- 15:45talked about this before, but it's always the
- 15:47most interesting question I have on my mind is
- 15:50in your meetings or the people that need help,
- 15:52what do you see? opening wax is it getting addicted
- 15:56to buying too many singles is it breaks what
- 15:58do you see as one of the bigger issues as the
- 16:01trend yeah i'm glad you asked that because a
- 16:04lot of people just assume that it must be the
- 16:06breaks but it's not just the breaks yeah of course
- 16:08the breaks play a huge part of it and the frictionless
- 16:11environments where these breaks are hosted like
- 16:13Whatnot Fanatics all these live streaming platforms
- 16:15They all play a huge part in it because of the
- 16:17layered in bells and whistles and the flashing
- 16:20lights and the spinning wheels and the breaker
- 16:22operating as the dealer and the host and the
- 16:24entertainer. you know it's it's a show it's entertainment
- 16:27right and so people get hooked really fast that
- 16:30way but then people come into our environment
- 16:32and they say things like well you know i still
- 16:34want to engage in the hobby but do so more intentionally
- 16:37which we fully support and we meet people wherever
- 16:39they are in their journeys and so some people
- 16:42end up transitioning over to only buying singles
- 16:45on eBay or only ripping personals or only ripping
- 16:48retail right and they find themselves in very
- 16:51similar situations where it's just higher volume
- 16:55Right. It's higher volume boxes because they
- 16:56cost less or it's higher volume singles because
- 16:58they're not buying the expensive hobby boxes
- 17:00and they're still having a hard time controlling
- 17:03the behavior. And it's across the board. i want
- 17:06to piggyback on that one because you learn really
- 17:09early as a sports card person the best thing
- 17:11for your collection is to stay away from ripping
- 17:13anything or breaking and you know you're gonna
- 17:15do best if you walk into the car shop with 200
- 17:17and buy the 200 Curry rookie that's sitting
- 17:20there over some 200 box okay you're probably
- 17:22most likely gonna be a far more happy at end
- 17:24result yeah the problem i just run into is it's
- 17:27so like i'm doing this receiver thing these receiver
- 17:30collection i'm missing a few so i go to buy one
- 17:32and it's like oh there's another one that's reasonably
- 17:34priced let me buy that one oh there's another
- 17:35one i can't miss out on it's not i'm not spending
- 17:37hundreds of dollars or thousands of dollars but
- 17:39but it adds up yes it's so addicting to and once
- 17:43you complete a set or rainbow it's like on to
- 17:46the next right there's always going to be a new
- 17:47product the problem with modern collecting is
- 17:49that the abundance of what's out there what's
- 17:52available to you is endless it never stops Topps
- 17:56and Panini and all these manufacturers design
- 17:59the cards that way so that they keep us coming
- 18:02back they keep feeding us something new they
- 18:04keep feeding us something fresh. When in reality,
- 18:06it's just more or less recycled content, the
- 18:09same thing over and over again. So we have to
- 18:13be mindful. We have to be careful. We have to
- 18:14hold ourselves accountable. That's what it comes
- 18:16down to. And one of my thought process, like,
- 18:18you know, I bought that Keenan McArdle RPA for
- 18:2035 bucks. And so all this stuff that people are
- 18:22excited about now and all these newer people
- 18:25in a decade or so, a lot of this stuff's not
- 18:27going to hold the same value that they think,
- 18:29even if it's a cool design, it's just, there's
- 18:31so much of it. And there's so many different
- 18:33players. And that's something that I get a little,
- 18:35you know, everything's skyrocketing right now.
- 18:37So I look like an idiot saying it, but I really
- 18:39think in time, I'm going to be right. Cause there's
- 18:41just so much of it. And then go buy an $80 LaDainian
- 18:44Tomlinson auto rookie that. There's not a lot
- 18:47of. You're a collector through and through, obviously.
- 18:50I mean, you can see behind you just from the
- 18:51little bit of - And mainly it's sports cards.
- 18:53This is more for fun and look, but mainly it's
- 18:55all sports cards. But when you think about collecting
- 18:58and why you purchase something or why you have
- 19:00that Luka Doncic jersey - Big collar called in.
- 19:03Controversial collar. We'll put them on in a
- 19:04minute. When you look at the items you own behind
- 19:08the Kobe jersey, the Luka jersey, the figurines,
- 19:11did you purchase those with the intent that they're
- 19:13going to go up in value and that one day you're
- 19:15going to flip them? Or did you purchase them
- 19:17because they mean something to you? They have
- 19:19a sentimental value. I've had that Joe Galloway
- 19:21rookie since I'm eight years old. So if we can
- 19:23get back to that mindset, collectively, as a
- 19:26hobby, where we're buying things, not because
- 19:29a Continental card is going to quadruple. But
- 19:30it's the propaganda. The propaganda out there
- 19:33is immense. Right, right. Which is what we're
- 19:35trying to, in a lot of ways. not combat, but
- 19:38we're going against the grain, right? Because
- 19:40when you open up Instagram and all you see are
- 19:42these breakers and influencers talking about
- 19:45what to buy next, why you should buy Wemby. I
- 19:47mean, I'm not going to say anybody's name or
- 19:49call out a break group or anything like that.
- 19:50But I saw a reel today from a very, very well
- 19:53-known breaker, basically justifying why the
- 19:56Wemby market is dipped. He basically said that
- 19:58there are two different versions of the Wemby
- 20:00market, a high -end market and a low -end market.
- 20:03If you saw the video, you know what I'm talking
- 20:04about. It's like, what are we talking about here?
- 20:07Why are we continuing to encourage people to
- 20:10invest in players that just lost the NBA championship,
- 20:13that have become the villain overnight? Why can't
- 20:17we just encourage people to collect what they
- 20:18love? Why can't we just encourage people to follow
- 20:20their favorite team, follow their favorite player,
- 20:22build a rainbow of Joey Galloway or whoever,
- 20:26somebody that's affordable, somebody that means
- 20:28something to you that isn't going to break the
- 20:30bank and do it intentionally? When Blue Red came
- 20:33on and said Fitzgerald and Lynch, their time
- 20:36has come. People forgot their hype market, the
- 20:38pump market for them is gone. You're getting
- 20:40true value, in my opinion. When you go spend
- 20:43200 bucks on a really cool Fitzgerald rookie,
- 20:45that's more true value than what's in the hype
- 20:48machine, what's in the chill machine. And so
- 20:51Blue Red. I highly recommend go put a little
- 20:54into Lynch. Don't just put all your thousand
- 20:56into Lynch. You brought up some great, great
- 20:58players. There's so many Hall of Famers that
- 21:01most of the modern day players will never even
- 21:03sniff, right? Like Jerry Rice, Larry Fitzgerald.
- 21:07Even my guy Tim Brown has great 100 touchdowns.
- 21:10No one cares. Hines Ward, Steve Smith. I mean,
- 21:13you go down the list of just great receivers
- 21:15from the last 20 plus years that have all the
- 21:17accolades, have the records. They're not relevant
- 21:19anymore because they're not playing today. In
- 21:2220 years from now, nobody is going to care about
- 21:24Travis Hunter. Nobody is going to be talking
- 21:27about Bucky Irving, right? Like, yeah, they're
- 21:29great players today and no knock on them. And,
- 21:31you know, I respect the heck out of there. What's
- 21:33happening is they're just a sales job, but there's
- 21:36a hope. There's a, we want, we can get them on
- 21:37the way up and then flip it for another thing.
- 21:39And then it's what's really been trained in everybody
- 21:42the last five, six years, which is why I said
- 21:44before with this new class, that's going to be
- 21:45drafted next week to Bonsa, Peterson, Boozer,
- 21:49Wilson next week. I think the draft's a week
- 21:52from Thursday. But yeah, like Flagg, Knueppel,
- 21:55VJ, Harper, these guys are going to be yesterday's
- 21:58newsman. They are going to go above and beyond
- 22:01when Dybantsa takes the stage. You remember the
- 22:04hype during the pandemic with Zion? I think that
- 22:07was probably like the peak of hype in terms of
- 22:10what I've seen firsthand in the last five, six
- 22:12years. I think the early Zion hype was bigger
- 22:14than Wemby. I think it was bigger than Flagg.
- 22:16I think it's going to be Zion all over again.
- 22:18But I think he's actually going to be good. All
- 22:20right, Charles. Alyx said some nice things. You
- 22:23brought some of it. You know how you come in,
- 22:25but how we doing, Charles? What's up, Charles?
- 22:28Hey, you know, I just heard somebody talk about
- 22:30cool cards, and this is from my old collection
- 22:32when I was a kid. My dad sent this back through
- 22:35my brother this weekend to me. Charles, but you're
- 22:37here and it's like we want to, you know, there's
- 22:40elephants in the room more than the cards, I
- 22:42guess. And for me, it stings knowing like, yeah,
- 22:45I'm going to like this against Professor. Here
- 22:47we are in your back. And, you know, I think you
- 22:49want to continue to come back. But if that's,
- 22:51you know, dude, why? How come? So what is what's
- 22:55the issue? Was it where I like that Instagram
- 22:56post? On my side, it's like, yeah, bro, Charles
- 23:00is going to come on and give him time. But also
- 23:01everyone can see that he likes posts against
- 23:03me, including myself. It's like, well, then I
- 23:05don't want to keep having Charles on. It's not
- 23:08against you. It's against the whole philosophy
- 23:10of just nothing but negativity in the hobby.
- 23:12But Charles, you spend four hours here a week,
- 23:14normally three, maybe. It's not always negativity.
- 23:18I mean, it's just not. Does that happen? Of course.
- 23:21And is there a lot of BS? I get it. Well, and
- 23:23also, but it's just not. Is it a part of the
- 23:25show? Yes. Do I? I also bring up many other things
- 23:28in four hours, just like my videos. Do I have
- 23:31some videos that lean a certain way? Yes. But
- 23:33I also have videos that don't do as well that
- 23:35are based on cards, you know, because I love
- 23:37cards. But it's just a bummer to see. Dave said
- 23:40it. I mean, Dave sees it. Dave came to me out
- 23:42of nowhere. So it's just the perception of, yeah,
- 23:45man, we're going to welcome Charles back. But
- 23:47Charles also has a big beef here. I don't have
- 23:49any beef with you, Professor, at all. If I did,
- 23:51I would address it. And you know that. SCV, on
- 23:53the other hand, that's between you and him. I
- 23:56don't like his content. I don't like anything
- 23:57he stands for. Let me back. So let me back for
- 23:59SCV real quick. Dude's 24 years old. He started
- 24:02his channel at 17. He could have easily pivoted
- 24:05to Whatnot. He could have easily pivoted to go
- 24:07be a shillbilly or propaganda guy. And he's not,
- 24:11you know, and does he lean a little controversial?
- 24:13Sure. But he's a young dude that's grown up in
- 24:15this. He's made a living off it. And he hasn't
- 24:18taken the dirty bag. Whether you like what he
- 24:21says or not, he's a young guy. that does it on
- 24:23a day -to -day makes a living of it so he has
- 24:24some insight and he didn't go the route of roth
- 24:28cards or the route of jeff and hey i'm gonna
- 24:31take the because dude his channel four years
- 24:33ago was doing really well it was one of the better
- 24:35channels like that was talking you know we had
- 24:37a whiteboard you know this is what happened with
- 24:39my psa order and yes he is controversial i mean
- 24:42you're not talking about the guy with the cigar
- 24:45Yeah, the guy who's sexist and deleted all of
- 24:47his videos at least twice since he started his
- 24:49channel. We don't talk about that. I mean, sexist
- 24:50is heavy. Does he talk a little, you know? Yes,
- 24:53he talks a little bit controversial. Look, at
- 24:56the end of the day, everybody's entitled to their
- 24:59opinion. Everybody should be on the same playing
- 25:01field as far as having a platform and putting
- 25:03out what you believe in, no matter how good your
- 25:06message is, no matter how genuine it is or whether
- 25:08it's coming from a good place. I mean, I'm reading
- 25:10the comments. I see people saying that I have
- 25:11an agenda, this, that, the other. Look. At the
- 25:13end of the day, you're always going to have your
- 25:16collection of naysayers, of haters, of people
- 25:19that are just going to throw out shit to try
- 25:21to shake you up. It's also, I get it too, but
- 25:24it's also a weird, we're in a weird space. I
- 25:27mean, we're just in a weird space and it's easy
- 25:29to get tied into, oh, you're just always negative
- 25:31or, oh, Alyx is, you know, just pushing his,
- 25:34you know, agenda because so many people are doing
- 25:36it out there. Some of you are pushing an agenda.
- 25:38Jason, can you do me a favor? Can I send you
- 25:40a link real quick to the nonprofit page? Because
- 25:42there's one thing that I didn't mention, and
- 25:44that's how the nonprofit was set up. I just dropped
- 25:47it in the private chat. So this is important
- 25:49because to those saying that we have an agenda
- 25:52or we're doing whatever we want, it's a free
- 25:55-for -all. That's not the case. And we were very
- 25:57intentional about that. We partnered with a company,
- 26:00a nonprofit organization called LOHAS, L -O -H
- 26:02-A -S, to stand up the nonprofit. And if you
- 26:05scroll down just a little bit, it says point
- 26:07blank, in black and white, blue and white. LOHAS
- 26:09provides third -party oversight to ensure that
- 26:11all allocations from the nonprofit align with
- 26:13the stated mission. So we literally have somebody
- 26:16looking over our shoulder, holding us accountable,
- 26:19making sure that these contributions and anything
- 26:21that comes from the nonprofit are going towards
- 26:24the right cause, are going towards the right
- 26:25thing. So for those people saying, I have an
- 26:27agenda, I have ulterior motives, legally, I have
- 26:30to follow. i'm also going to throw some if you
- 26:33did have an agenda at least he wants to help
- 26:35i mean it seems like on the story oh at least
- 26:38it's a better agenda than come break with me
- 26:41or buy my ten thousand dollar card he wants to
- 26:43you know at least provide awareness and and so
- 26:45you know i'm at least yeah addiction is real
- 26:48addiction i said this in november when i came
- 26:51on the show and i had a few of the ogs that i
- 26:54know have a lot of respect in this space They
- 26:57were giving me a hard time, throwing me curveballs.
- 26:59I said, I would take on those guys every single
- 27:02night if it meant we were making a difference
- 27:04for one person. And so we're helping hundreds
- 27:07of people a week with these weekly meetings,
- 27:09with our referral network, with these tools and
- 27:11resources. So all of the bullshit that comes
- 27:13with it on the side, I can't express how worth
- 27:17it is for me. I love what KK said. KK said, if
- 27:20you want to get rich, creating an anti -gambling,
- 27:22not -for -profit is not the way. sure sure sure
- 27:25gentlemen anything you want to wrap up with Charles
- 27:27i'll let you go first and we'll let Alyx finish
- 27:29well yeah i just wanted to say professor me and
- 27:31you were fine it seems like me and you just seem
- 27:33to have a bit of a miscommunication about how
- 27:35you take things with me how i dude you like no
- 27:37no Dave said it. It came from someone else. It's
- 27:41not trust me. It's don't try to manipulate it
- 27:43or sway it. It wasn't a miscommunication. You
- 27:45started being a little anti the show or anti
- 27:48us. I'm anti the chat. I'm not anti professor.
- 27:50I'm anti KK. The chat is part of why I'm here.
- 27:54That's fine, but I don't have to lock everyone
- 27:56in this chat. I never said you did, but the posts
- 27:58were not about the chat. Yeah, and I'm not trying
- 28:01to be your co -host either. So I don't know where
- 28:02you're getting. We've discussed this off fair.
- 28:05Charles, what's up? Any last words? That's it.
- 28:08All right, bro. Alyx, I want to say thanks for
- 28:11coming on. Any last words? Congrats to your Knicks.
- 28:13Yeah, thank you. And congrats to your new foundation.
- 28:16I had one show and tell. I almost forgot about
- 28:19the Knicks. You know, I'm a big sneaker guy.
- 28:20You know, talking about collecting intentionally,
- 28:22this is a pair of New Balances. This was a collaboration
- 28:25they did with Kith a couple years ago. Cool little
- 28:28detail here that a lot of people probably would
- 28:31never even notice. Madison Square Garden Knicks
- 28:33on the insole. This is what it's all about, man.
- 28:37Buy what you like. Buy what makes you happy.
- 28:39I'm glad you mentioned. So recently, I don't
- 28:41buy a lot of shoes, but John Morant had a really
- 28:43cool collaboration with Jurassic Park. It's like,
- 28:46I'd rather put my $100 in that pair of shoes,
- 28:48which I did, than a card. Cards, it's so interesting
- 28:50because there are other places to put your money
- 28:52just besides cards. Yeah, 100%. Oh, and Ziggy
- 28:56said, can you comment on CTCA? I should put you
- 28:58in touch with Nick Jarman. He's the CEO and founder
- 29:01of CTCA. They're another organization that's
- 29:03really doing a lot of amazing things in the space.
- 29:05And they're creating like a... almost like a
- 29:07badge for breakers and hobby shops to give them
- 29:10a level of credibility. I don't want to butcher
- 29:13it and try to explain somebody else's mission
- 29:16or movement, but they have partnered with us.
- 29:18We're doing some things together. We developed
- 29:19the Healthy Hobby Initiative, which is a new
- 29:22project that we're going to be rolling out in
- 29:23the coming months. But I'll put you in touch
- 29:25with Nick. He's a great dude. I think he'd be
- 29:27great to join the show. He's been in touch with
- 29:28Ziggy for the last couple of weeks, and Ziggy's
- 29:30been really supportive of the work he's doing.
- 29:32Hey, thank you for calling in so much. Yeah,
- 29:35of course. I just want to also... Thank you so
- 29:37much for having me on. I really appreciate the
- 29:38opportunity, man. If anything we talked about
- 29:41today resonated with anyone listening, of course,
- 29:43you can always reach us. It's info @ collectorsmd
- 29:46.com. You can also follow us on social @collectorsmd.
- 29:48Check out our website, collectorsmd .com. Know
- 29:51that we're here for any and everyone who might
- 29:53be struggling with overspending, compulsive collecting,
- 29:55hobby addiction, whatever you want to call it.

- 30:08to your Knicks. We'll talk soon, Alyx. All right,
- 30:10brother.
