- 0:00Speaker 1: In the past, not too distant past, we've had on
- 0:03Speaker 1: our show a guy named Jeff Dixon. He lives in
- 0:08Speaker 1: Los Angeles. He's a Utah, moved to Los Angeles to
- 0:12Speaker 1: pursue his career as a horror writer and movie director,
- 0:17Speaker 1: and he's done pretty well for himself.
- 0:19Speaker 2: He has something on Apple right now.
- 0:22Speaker 1: It's called Yeah, it's called Curses. He has. It's a
- 0:26Speaker 1: show that he developed. Its animated. I believe yes, And
- 0:31Speaker 1: Jeff has sent us this this email from Los Angeles.
- 0:36Speaker 1: This is Jeff Dixon, former guest of the show, nice
- 0:40Speaker 1: not creepy horror guy and eternal fan of all of you.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I just wanted to briefly reach out this morning while
- 0:46Speaker 1: it was on my mind. I'm swirling in the midst
- 0:49Speaker 1: of an eternal hell storm of insanity right now, so
- 0:52Speaker 1: apologies for the potential scatterbrained aspect of this email. But
- 0:57Speaker 1: I'm also in such a moment to moment place with
- 1:00Speaker 1: so much to do right now, that as I think
- 1:02Speaker 1: of something, I need to do it immediately or it's
- 1:05Speaker 1: going to just slip through the cracks hell. I'm also
- 1:07Speaker 1: a writer, so sometimes I just need to write things
- 1:09Speaker 1: down as I think of them. After leaving my beloved
- 1:13Speaker 1: home state of Utah. My new adopted home for almost
- 1:17Speaker 1: seventeen years has been Pacific Palisades, California. So yeah, you
- 1:23Speaker 1: know where this is going. The world witnessed what happened
- 1:26Speaker 1: to my town. It was completely wiped out, and I
- 1:30Speaker 1: mean completely. My home and everything that was in it
- 1:34Speaker 1: was completely destroyed. Wow, it's all gone. As I type this,
- 1:39Speaker 1: I still can't fully comprehend this, but it is true.
- 1:44Speaker 1: I think we're still in shock. This isn't even to
- 1:46Speaker 1: mention all of my friends' homes, or my girls' schools,
- 1:50Speaker 1: their playhouses, the restaurants we visited, our grocery stores, I
- 1:55Speaker 1: mean everything is gone. Life hasn't felt normal in any way,
- 2:00Speaker 1: shape or form since I literally watched my condo complex
- 2:03Speaker 1: burn down live on TV last Tuesday night. Words cannot
- 2:09Speaker 1: even begin to explain what this surreal experience is like.
- 2:15Speaker 1: The place that I raised my two girls, the place
- 2:17Speaker 1: that hosted every holiday, the place that was home burnt
- 2:22Speaker 1: to ash before my eyes live on the news. I'm
- 2:26Speaker 1: emailing you for a few reasons. First, the love and
- 2:31Speaker 1: care that has come from so many of my friends
- 2:33Speaker 1: in Utah has been truly amazing. It's honestly been the
- 2:37Speaker 1: only thing that's kept us afloat through all of this.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Both my girls were luckily not here at the time,
- 2:42Speaker 1: since they are actually there in Utah attending the University
- 2:47Speaker 1: of Utah. So first, I just wanted to say thank
- 2:50Speaker 1: you to the majority of incredible humans in my beloved
- 2:52Speaker 1: home state and to those up in the University of
- 2:56Speaker 1: Utah keep an eye on my girls, will you. I mean,
- 2:59Speaker 1: they just lost everything too, and the mental toll of
- 3:01Speaker 1: this is daunting, second to others from Afar who are
- 3:06Speaker 1: watching and talking about these fires from a different point
- 3:09Speaker 1: of view. Please don't lump all of Los Angeles into
- 3:12Speaker 1: the same category. Not all of us are multimillionaires. Most
- 3:17Speaker 1: of us are just dreamers who risked everything, spent decades
- 3:20Speaker 1: fighting and clawing toward our dreams and living condos not mansions.
- 3:26Speaker 1: When everything we own goes up in smoke, we literally
- 3:29Speaker 1: lose everything. Our insurance isn't the same. Condo owners in particular,
- 3:34Speaker 1: are not in the same category as homeowners. But that's
- 3:37Speaker 1: another story for another day. But hey, if anyone knows
- 3:40Speaker 1: someone familiar with homeowner association and condo insurance, lo'd be
- 3:44Speaker 1: appreciative to talk to them because we're getting almost nothing
- 3:48Speaker 1: from insurance compared to what we've lost and carry. As
- 3:52Speaker 1: a fellow collector who had an immense horror memorabilia collection,
- 3:58Speaker 1: make sure that you take precautions. I lost every comic,
- 4:02Speaker 1: every figure, every signed photo and prop that I owned.
- 4:07Speaker 1: I know it sounds trivial to so many people, but
- 4:09Speaker 1: to me, that was my life's work. Give that collection
- 4:13Speaker 1: more love, because you never know when it'll be gone. Lastly,
- 4:17Speaker 1: I wanted to thank you Radio from Hell. My ritual
- 4:19Speaker 1: every morning has been to stream you live and keep
- 4:22Speaker 1: my Utah connection alive. I obviously wasn't able to last week,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and today was the first time I was able to
- 4:28Speaker 1: turn it on. It may seem teeny tiny, but just
- 4:33Speaker 1: hearing your voices provided a small source of normalcy amongst
- 4:39Speaker 1: the universe of not normal that is life right now.
- 4:43Speaker 1: If anybody wants to put a specific face to the
- 4:46Speaker 1: massive scenario, I would love to be a voice for it.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I might help, It might help give me some distraction.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Please head to my instagram at the Jeff Dixon at
- 4:56Speaker 1: the Jeff Dixon for my updates and posts. Yes, we
- 5:01Speaker 1: also had a friend set up a GoFundMe as well.
- 5:03Speaker 1: So if any Utah people want to help a fellow
- 5:05Speaker 1: Utah here's the link. It's www dot GoFundMe dot com
- 5:12Speaker 1: hope home for any Jeff Dixon. It's kind of kind
- 5:16Speaker 1: of long, so it's probably on that instagram. Yeah, it's
- 5:20Speaker 1: also on my Yeah, yeah, it's also on my instagram
- 5:23Speaker 1: at the Jeff Dixon. My pride has always kept me
- 5:27Speaker 1: from doing anything like this, but when you lose everything,
- 5:29Speaker 1: you have nothing to lose. Also, if you want to
- 5:33Speaker 1: see me talking about what was lost on CNN with
- 5:36Speaker 1: Aaron Burnett, here's the link.
- 5:38Speaker 2: That's on his instagram too. I just went there.
- 5:42Speaker 1: He did a long interview with Aaron Burnett on CNN. Anyway,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I just heard your voices today, felt the Utah connection
- 5:49Speaker 1: like a flood and really needed to reach out. Thanks
- 5:52Speaker 1: for letting me listen now more than ever. Love to
- 5:55Speaker 1: you all. Jeff Dixon.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Jeff so so sorry to hear about this.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Uh boy, So there it is his instagram again, is
- 6:08Speaker 1: at the Jeff Dixon.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Hey, Katie, maybe we can reach out to Jeff and
- 6:13Speaker 3: and get his daughters, maybe tickets to Lights Camera brunch.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Maybe we can see if they want to come to that.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Let's again, maybe we should get Jeff on on the
- 6:24Speaker 1: on the air sometime this week, see how he's doing.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But I just I can't. I just can't imagine.
- 6:35Speaker 3: These And we all know people who live down there
- 6:38Speaker 3: who have been affected by it, and and it's you know,
- 6:43Speaker 3: it's made us have conversations about, you know, what would
- 6:48Speaker 3: you take from your house if you had, you know
- 6:51Speaker 3: what it's even if it's not directly directly affecting us,
- 6:56Speaker 3: I think we're all, you're all top of mind.
