- 0:30Joshua Wilson makes his third appearance on our program for
- 0:34the Joshua is a pastor and also owns and operates a ranch
- 0:38children called Sunshine Acres. Joshua is also an accomplished
- 0:42musician prolific writer in short.
- 0:45Joshua Wilson is a teacher and a pretty good one at that in our
- 0:49discussion. Today we touch not just on
- 0:52Urantia Concepts, which are always fun but also our current
- 0:56state in terms of politics, social evolution.
- 1:00And what is most needed today as Society goes through a
- 1:03metamorphosis of change a lot to cover and we jump right in with
- 1:08my guest. Joshua Wilson this time up on
- 1:11the Rancher Radio podcast. I was talk to my my oldest
- 1:15daughter Rebecca and Tulsa Oklahoma this morning and she
- 1:19was she's a Urantia book reader. He's just so happy that that the
- 1:24knowledge that people have is going to be able to carry on
- 1:28into the next life and they're going to be able to use their
- 1:30skills and it's all it doesn't all just disappear and go away.
- 1:36Well, see that's interesting because having that nugget of
- 1:40information makes everything else makes sense.
- 1:44It's the opposite of that when you don't think that this life
- 1:49has any value to your continued existence that's why we're in
- 1:53the trouble were in. Yeah, that's kind of sad.
- 1:58Because I knew if Putin knew that he would be held
- 2:03accountable or anybody that matter a common criminal if they
- 2:08knew and they were taught from a young age, you will be held
- 2:11accountable for all of your actions and they do matter that
- 2:16would change but we're actually taught the opposite that nothing
- 2:19matters. Isn't that strange, right?
- 2:22And there's no repercussions and the will to power is All that
- 2:28matters and it's a very realistic way to look at life
- 2:35and I'm just so happy, you know, to be involved with people that
- 2:41are engaging life and engaging spirit.
- 2:43And this part of this thing that to kind of lead into food Fuel
- 2:47and finance. As I have some quotes here where
- 2:53Jesus got together with his friends and discuss politics,
- 2:58And I want to this out of the ranch, a book course, nobody
- 3:01knows about it. So this is why I have to talk
- 3:03about and so so the thing is that like here's a quote from
- 3:09paper 128 and it says, it was difficult for Jesus, friends to
- 3:15comprehend the range of his intellectual activities, how he
- 3:19could. So suddenly and so completely
- 3:21swing from the profound discussion of politics
- 3:25philosophy or religion to the lighthouse.
- 3:28Did enjoy us playfulness of these tots from 5 to 10 years of
- 3:34age. So there goes it says that he
- 3:37would get together in private and then there's another one.
- 3:40It says the Zebedee family never a failed to attend the
- 3:45conference has of questions and answers, which Jesus concluded
- 3:49each evening after supper. The youthful.
- 3:52Neighbors also came in frequently to attend these
- 3:56meetings, to these little Gatherings.
- 3:59Jesus gave varied and advanced instruction just as advanced as
- 4:03they could comprehend. Now, here it comes, he talked
- 4:06quite freely with them, expressing his ideas and ideals
- 4:10about politics sociology, science and philosophy.
- 4:15But never presume to speak with authoritative finality except
- 4:19when discussing religion the relation of And to God.
- 4:22So there's two quotes that said that in these nighttime meetings
- 4:26and these small groups and with his friends, he freely discussed
- 4:30politics but even here, the master of our universe was not
- 4:35going to speak authoritatively on politics and say this is the
- 4:39way it is. And this is how you should vote
- 4:41and and all that kind of stuff because it's always changing.
- 4:45But I think it's I just want to sweep away this Cloud.
- 4:51That's over. The movement where they don't
- 4:53know if they should or if they shouldn't to do or not to do
- 4:58whether they should get involved with politics, but Jesus discuss
- 5:02the politics of those days with his friends and that's part of
- 5:08of the world that we live in. So so if he was willing to do
- 5:12it, I'm willing to do it. In fact I do that in small
- 5:16groups but not as part of any religious Institution.
- 5:21I totally get that part because it says religiousness, as a
- 5:25group was never concerned themselves with anything but
- 5:27religion how be it? Anyone such religion
- 5:32religionist, as an individual citizen, may become the
- 5:36outstanding leader of some social economic or political
- 5:40reconstruction movement. So I just want it's like a cloud
- 5:46or something that's over. I just want to sweep this away
- 5:49and and help people get Their questions are resolved, their
- 5:52questions about this. I do have, I do have to admit
- 5:57that I've tried to steer away from Politics on the show and
- 6:02it's probably to a fault, because you can't ignore what's
- 6:06happening. And I've gotten some negative
- 6:10response from people when I do step into the political.
- 6:14But from my perspective, and I think you've nailed it is that
- 6:18as a religious person and as a person One who has gotten his
- 6:21heart. Everything is spiritual even
- 6:24politics because politics is really about the outcome where
- 6:28people get served with dignity. They have a government that
- 6:31treats them with dignity that there's not too much
- 6:34concentrated power, where evil and Corruption sort of takes
- 6:39over and that's where I think we are now.
- 6:41And that's why it's so concerning because of the fact
- 6:45that, you know, what we lose, what we spoke to earlier, which
- 6:48is philosophies, and Allergies that are being perpetuated in
- 6:53order to keep power centers in charge, you know, right?
- 6:58It's censorship and, you know, I mean, we were talking today
- 7:01about Michael and Dell. Now, you know, Michael and L is
- 7:04a very contentious figure, but he's a Christian and he wears
- 7:07his heart on his sleeves and he does commercials.
- 7:10And you can see the Christ lion portrait behind him.
- 7:13I mean, the guy wears this cross, he's here's a man who is
- 7:17speaking out, not because he's political But because he wants
- 7:22the truth and sometimes the truth gets in the way of
- 7:26politics. And so I admire him but he
- 7:29doesn't go on and I'm just using it as an example.
- 7:32But he's a very contentious guy. So how do you how do you blind
- 7:38like you were saying, how is it feasible that you can be, you
- 7:41know, a religious person and how?
- 7:44What effect does that have on your political Viewpoint?
- 7:47And you know, how do we not step over that line?
- 7:50We're merging. Yeah.
- 7:52Michael and Dale, what a thing. So he was at a Hardee's
- 7:55drive-through, yeah, and and he's right there.
- 7:58Waiting for his hamburger or whatever and he's completely
- 8:02surrounded by FBI cars, you know, and agents and they want
- 8:07his phone. And so, the thing is, while he
- 8:12was being surrounded, he was witnessing to one of the FBI
- 8:17agents about his faith. And how he could turn to God,
- 8:22that's the kind of guy that Michael and Ellis.
- 8:24Yeah, I mean, even in the worst of circumstances, he still
- 8:28figures out a way to get a little bit of Truth in there and
- 8:31yeah, witnessing and all that. It's fantastic.
- 8:34But I, I agree. So this the situation that we're
- 8:37in now to me, is much of it is self-inflicted.
- 8:41And I want to kind of go back to something that never gets
- 8:45brought up, but it's kind of close to me.
- 8:47Now, I was born and raised a in. A mentalist and I believe in
- 8:51clean, air and water and environment, and I don't like
- 8:55waste and I think people consume too much.
- 8:57And I remember when I was young and they first introduced
- 9:00cassettes, and you would go and buy a cassette and they would be
- 9:04in these big gaudy plastic cardboard wraps, you know.
- 9:08And even at that age in the 70s, I was saying boy this is a real
- 9:12waste of raw materials because just because they don't want
- 9:16somebody to stuff a cassette in their pocket and walk out the
- 9:19door and then see Uh, these came along and they did the same
- 9:21thing. So I say that because as an
- 9:25environmentalist I believe that we should.
- 9:28It works out to have clean air water and the environment.
- 9:32What I don't subscribe to is the climate crisis issue.
- 9:35And here's why if you're familiar with malthusian, he was
- 9:40a reverend I think his name was either Jonathan or Robert, but
- 9:43anyway, I'm quite familiar. Yeah, and he believed that man
- 9:47would destroy himself. That was his philosophy.
- 9:50Sofia the, we run out of food and we'd run out of coal and he
- 9:54lived in a very dark period in England.
- 9:56When when the Industrial Revolution was just getting
- 9:59started and things were dirty, you know, you'd have people
- 10:02dying of cold, you know, breathing in Coal, they still
- 10:05do. But anyway, his Viewpoint of
- 10:08humanity was that we're not going to be able to figure this
- 10:10out unless we have strict raccon, Ian rules and so that
- 10:14malthusian philosophy has completely taken over climate
- 10:19science. To the point where we don't
- 10:22think that we're going to be able to figure out how to get
- 10:25off, get off of fossil fuels, which is cheap abundant energy.
- 10:29So, you have people who believe that they've got a force feed
- 10:32this new renewable thing, but it's actually having a hardship
- 10:36and it's creating mass poverty across the world and it's going
- 10:40to continue to do this. Now, out of, what does this have
- 10:43to do with your auntie book? Well, if you believe that man
- 10:47has the ability to solve problems and that's why We're
- 10:50here then. Why don't we let that happen?
- 10:54Instead of, instead of having these people who are usurping
- 10:59power and they've replaced religion with this sort of
- 11:02pseudo religious climate science stuff.
- 11:07And it's scaring a lot of people, and it's going to kill a
- 11:09lot of people because energy without it people die.
- 11:14Yeah, the whole global warming thing hasn't turned into climate
- 11:19change. It was rebranded, this is
- 11:22destroying Europe right now, Germany.
- 11:26They've had not a doubling or tripling, but a tenfold to 12
- 11:31fold increase, and and the price of energy and they're having to
- 11:36shut down factories some of which, like, say us an aluminum,
- 11:41smelting plant with all that molten aluminum, They shut that
- 11:45down. You can't just turn it back on.
- 11:48These are meant to continuously run they're looking at an
- 11:53incredible difficult time. Coming into this winter.
- 11:57It's going to be very serious. So I've been preaching global
- 12:02cooling actually for about 10 years team here.
- 12:05Same with the solar minimum and Grand solar minimum.
- 12:10I've been riding on this and are our hot summers are Getting
- 12:15shorter and our Winters are getting longer especially in the
- 12:18about in the northern latitudes. And I always watch this very
- 12:22carefully and usually put out a newsletter once a year and kind
- 12:26of saying, okay, just track with me here and you can see if this
- 12:30is really going so, but, yeah, I agree with you.
- 12:32Jim people are getting frightened by the situation.
- 12:36That's just being preached about how we have to get off of all
- 12:40these fossil fuels, but the problem is, well, it was It was
- 12:46really sad. It would have almost been
- 12:48hilarious, but the same day that Gavin, Newsom of California
- 12:53announced that they were going to get rid of all cars that ran
- 12:59on gas or diesel. The same day that that
- 13:03announcement came out. He also was like, the day they
- 13:06after he, he made an announcement that you have to
- 13:10quit charging your electric vehicles.
- 13:13I mean, how crazy can that be did?
- 13:15I don't charge your electric vehicles from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- 13:19or something like this? See, they don't even have enough
- 13:21electricity to charge these vehicles.
- 13:24Yeah. That which goes to the point
- 13:26that the ideology is, is outpacing technology.
- 13:31We don't have yet the technology to make this seamless
- 13:35transition, we will someday once they figure out the, you know,
- 13:39the ranch a book talks, a lot about this unknown energy
- 13:42source. We'll find it right?
- 13:45And when we do and we when we learn how to harness it, we're
- 13:48in it mentions also that were in that age where I mean people
- 13:51don't talk about this a lot but one of the reasons is slavery
- 13:54ended wasn't out of the goodness of the hearts of the people it
- 13:58was but it was it was because of Machinery.
- 14:02Human labor became worthless when you had machines and we're
- 14:06going through that period now and there's an extensive amount
- 14:10of stuff in the ranch a book that talks about how do we deal
- 14:13with this very issue in the here and now there's a whole chapter
- 14:17when it talks about the different epochs and and the
- 14:20evolution of human government and and and finding jobs for
- 14:25people who become unemployed because they're being replaced
- 14:28by technology. The Rancho book was writing
- 14:30about this in the 1930s. Yeah, that was pretty
- 14:34incredible. We've had, you know, since the
- 14:371920s we've had many beautiful things.
- 14:40Worldwide poverty has Ted literacy is gone way up.
- 14:47Lots of great things have happened.
- 14:50Due to the, what, the ranch book calls, the unrecognized and
- 14:54unacknowledged, spiritual workings of the life, and
- 14:57teachings of Jesus, of Nazareth. As we've had all kinds of games,
- 15:00but right now, we're coming into a very troubled period.
- 15:04So I set up the mouth seraphs camp in northern Arizona and
- 15:10we're on four, acres in the middle of nine. 160,000 Acres of
- 15:16the Tonto National Forest which is right on our border.
- 15:19And so I teach self-sufficiency we put in all of our own solar
- 15:25panels, it's off-grid, we have rainwater collection and we
- 15:30actually show people how to do these things.
- 15:33And if I was up there and and the guacamole, hit the fan, I
- 15:37would just I could just stay there for years and it's not my
- 15:42problem. But we all know about it now.
- 15:44So we'll come. See you actually invite people
- 15:49to come over for training and I don't charge anything.
- 15:52A lot of people have taken me up, I've had a lot of visitors
- 15:56over the past several years and men's Retreats and family
- 16:00Retreats. And so this is something where I
- 16:03don't just shoot from the hip and talk about Concepts on an
- 16:08intellectual basis, but at least in that particular, Our work
- 16:15that's been going since the year 2001 and then the Children's
- 16:20Home is also becoming more and more self-sufficient.
- 16:23That's on 100 acres that's been going since 1955.
- 16:27So, you know, we're trying to put these things into action and
- 16:32so I'll just let you leave with whatever the temperature or
- 16:35Dimension or level or degree that you want to talk about
- 16:39politics unless you guide the conversation.
- 16:43But To me, it's all about joining with other people,
- 16:47making decisions. So that the issues of economy
- 16:50which are based around few food Fuel and financed.
- 16:54The three apps that we can make good decisions so that we can
- 16:58have a peaceful and happy life. Well, I also want to I think
- 17:03there's a parallel here to what you're talking about and this is
- 17:07on the same subject but I recently read this book by I
- 17:12think I have it here. It's called the psychology of
- 17:15totalitarianism and the reason I bring it up is because I think
- 17:20that the author of that book which is a gentleman by the name
- 17:24of hizmet much Matias, Desmet d e SM as in Mary ET and it, he
- 17:34uses the obviously the covid pandemic and what we all went
- 17:37through. But the premise of the book and
- 17:39he sounds like he's a Rancher book reader.
- 17:42Is there a lot of things that he picks on or includes in his book
- 17:46that talks about psych Mass formation psychosis and cited.
- 17:51Yeah, and he really goes into, you know, why people were so
- 17:55complacent during the pandemic where they were willing to give
- 17:59up everything just for safety? Because they were convinced
- 18:03that, you know, by the media by by the doctors, you know, you
- 18:08know we could we could lose everything anyway.
- 18:11So I think He might be your Ranch of a greeter because
- 18:14everything he talks about in that book comes down to this,
- 18:18you know, do you have faith in a higher power?
- 18:22And if you have have faith in a higher power and that higher
- 18:26power has endowed you with free will dignity, then
- 18:31totalitarianism is incompatible with that.
- 18:35But if you don't believe in a higher power and you don't
- 18:37believe that you are endowed by a Creator and you do That the
- 18:42government is is your, your Refuge or your safety.
- 18:47And this is what it comes down to between say that the great
- 18:50dichotomy between the Communist way, which is completely
- 18:54atheistic. And the government is the ruling
- 18:57power and is the higher power and controls everything.
- 19:02And you subscribe to that because you don't want to be
- 19:04involved, you don't want to take, you know, personal
- 19:06responsibility and anything and you just want to be told what to
- 19:09do. And this is why. totalitarianism
- 19:13Rises because in places like Germany in the 30s, you know,
- 19:17and Italy and Russia people, there's three groups there's the
- 19:22groups that go along to get along which represents about 30%
- 19:26of the population and then you have another group which
- 19:29represents about 30% of the population and they they want to
- 19:33be told what to do they prefer safety over freedom and then you
- 19:38have that small subset of what's left of Or who are just natural
- 19:43like you and me they question everything.
- 19:47There's this they're naturally suspicious of over control and I
- 19:52find that a lot of your Rancho book readers fall into that
- 19:54third category and maybe that's a nice thing.
- 19:58Maybe that's why they're open to the idea but in any event you
- 20:03know I appreciate and it's a good read if you want to try to
- 20:06understand human psychology, it's a great book.
- 20:10And again it's called And I'd be curious, if anybody knows does
- 20:15Matt and his background. Because it sure looks like he
- 20:18tapped into paper 91-95 because he brings up the idea that we've
- 20:22been reduced to atoms. You know, we talked about this
- 20:25before with the James Webb Telescope, according to science.
- 20:28Today, we are nothing more than molecules.
- 20:31We have been reduced, we've been atomized to the point where
- 20:35everything can science can control everything.
- 20:38If they just have enough data, they'll be able to control
- 20:40everything and Isa come to this but it's it's brought to us a
- 20:45sense of anxiety and orphan. You know that feeling of being
- 20:52that my individual life really has no meaning beyond the grave.
- 20:55It's really just about the greater good, you know, so we
- 20:58can touch on that but you say that we had so comment on a
- 21:02little bit of that. Based on what you've seen, what
- 21:05is your greatest concern Joshua right now, regarding
- 21:09spirituality and the future? City of God on this planet.
- 21:15Okay, well, I'm looking at this psychology of totalitarianism
- 21:19just came out June 2020 to which you've read and he talks about
- 21:26the world, being in the grip of a mass formation.
- 21:29Dangerous Collective Collective type of hypnosis, as we bear
- 21:33witness to loneliness, free-floating anxiety, fear,
- 21:38giving way to censorship loss of privacy and so forth and so on.
- 21:45Here's my viewpoint, answer your question.
- 21:47Jim, I'm totally not panicking at all about the spiritual
- 21:57movement that's happening on the earth.
- 22:01I think that that's absolutely secure.
- 22:04What I am concerned about is that economies go in cycles and
- 22:13we're going into a Bad Moon arising right now.
- 22:17Yeah, we've got inflation is going through the roof.
- 22:24That we've got energy crisis, we've got problems with food,
- 22:28we've got problems with Finance as the the world economic forum
- 22:34is trying to bring about a great reset.
- 22:37I don't think any of those things are going to be
- 22:38successful in the long run. But the problem is that your
- 22:43answer book says, it's always a difficulty of transitional
- 22:46breakdown. So that's what I answer.
- 22:49Your question. My biggest concern is the
- 22:51transitional breakdown where People will be suffering because
- 22:56as macron of France, just announced last week to his
- 23:00Nation, he said the times of abundance are over and that's
- 23:04pretty heavy for the leader of a major Western Country to come
- 23:09right out and make a statement. So I'm concerned that people are
- 23:13going to be going into difficult times.
- 23:15But as far as the spiritual plan and purposes, I view the exact
- 23:21opposite. I think we're in a Revival.
- 23:23Because times of great testing your answer book says of also
- 23:29always been times of great Revelation so the two are
- 23:33happening simultaneously. Yeah, I agree with you,
- 23:37especially if you heard the whole conversation, we were
- 23:39having in the last episode where we had Josh, I'm not kidding,
- 23:43six people. I never, I've never done an
- 23:46interview with six people in my life.
- 23:48Yeah, I listen to it was great. And you hear the hope and you
- 23:52hear the, the Them and it didn't matter if you were in Argentina
- 23:56or Mexico or Israel and it just really, it inspired me.
- 24:02And what you're saying, inspires me and you're absolutely right.
- 24:05This, these are the times when heroes are made, right?
- 24:09And it all depends on your own character and what your, what
- 24:12Your motivations are. And if your motivations are
- 24:14pure, this is why, you know, I don't like to again, get
- 24:19political, but there are certain Heroes that I see walking today,
- 24:23And it's like, wow, you know, Mike Pompeo is a good example,
- 24:27you know, here's a guy who's very devout and he does want to
- 24:32change things and he knows, I mean, this guy's got to know the
- 24:36horror and the in the evil that's going on in the world for
- 24:39god sakes. He's dealing with these people.
- 24:41I'm not saying he's perfect, but he's just an example of somebody
- 24:44who's driven Mike Lyndell, another one, and there are a lot
- 24:47of a lot more of these people that are inspiring to me.
- 24:51So this, this actually, it may be That time economically who
- 24:55are not going to starve to death.
- 24:56We have the technology I mean I don't know, I hope not I don't
- 25:01think we will. You don't I'd like to bring up
- 25:03this quote on intelligent patriotism.
- 25:07I'm going to let this up right now.
- 25:09I want to talk about that too because there's now a new term
- 25:12that it's been introduced in the Lexicon.
- 25:14It's called Christian nationalism, right?
- 25:18And it's in there was an article that I can't remember.
- 25:21Maybe it was Spencer. A brown or somebody.
- 25:24But anyway, it was talking about the queen and the commonality
- 25:27between recognizing the sacredness of the queen and the
- 25:31sacredness of the Christian Nation concept that evolved in
- 25:35America during the Calvin and Calvin days were Divine
- 25:39Providence, you know, Manifest Destiny.
- 25:42And we Americans tend to look at America.
- 25:45I think as being a Christian Nation even though it is plural
- 25:49and we allow for everyone to sort of believe or not to
- 25:52believe and that's it. Thing, but I wonder if if
- 25:57politically the Christian religion will get more political
- 26:04and if that's a good thing or a bad thing, I don't think it's a
- 26:07good thing. Right.
- 26:10So the quote that I gave before is that religionists must never
- 26:13concern in this themselves with anything, but religion.
- 26:17Yeah, I'll beat anyone such religionist like those men.
- 26:21You just mentioned as an individual citizen may become
- 26:25the outstanding leader of some economic or political
- 26:30reconstruction movement. So this is where I want to kind
- 26:33of pull the fog fog of war or The Cloud of over.
- 26:38People's minds to realize what intelligent patriotism could
- 26:44involve which I think has to do with your your question.
- 26:48Yeah. On paper 81 it says no National
- 26:51civilization. Can you're talking about
- 26:53nationalism or maybe Christian nationalism or maybe
- 26:58conservative nationalism but no such Nation long indoors unless
- 27:04it's educational methods and religious ideals inspire A high
- 27:09type of intelligent patriotism, and National devotion, without
- 27:14this sort of intelligent patriotism and cultural
- 27:18solidarity All Nations tend to disintegrate as a result of
- 27:22provincial jealousies and local self-interest.
- 27:25That's out of paper 81 that's kind of where we're at right now
- 27:28though. Don't you?
- 27:30This is really pertinent, you know so you know midterms are
- 27:34coming up and I feel that As I was in a study group two nights
- 27:40ago, where we've known each other, we've been meeting for
- 27:44over 40 years. That, you know, we're we we feel
- 27:49comfortable talking with each other and we don't all have the
- 27:52same view, but we're all trying to be intelligent.
- 27:56And some of us have come around to trying to be patriotic and
- 28:01combining those things. Because we need that, we
- 28:04realized that a Civilization cannot long endure, says that
- 28:09right there in the book. So we do need this kind of
- 28:13effort and insight and I love all of the purely religious
- 28:19activities. They're happening in our your
- 28:23Achi institutions and they should just go exactly like
- 28:27they're doing they should be nonpartisan.
- 28:31However, if we're going to see the other side of the coin in
- 28:34what the Rancher book is telling us that the Individual needs to
- 28:39take responsibility and one of the reasons, the book says, for
- 28:43the decline of the western of the Roman Empire was that a
- 28:47citizen's failed to take an interest in their local and
- 28:51National politics and dissolved. Well, it's good that you brought
- 28:55that up because I would I would say that again as a roadmap or
- 29:00is it template the Urantia book certainly offers they make the
- 29:04point of saying that a representative government A good
- 29:07thing and that we're on the right track.
- 29:10But, you know, unless you're involved and like you say,
- 29:13unless we have good leaders, that are enlightened and not
- 29:16self-serving. Then yeah, we do risk.
- 29:21Your smart patriotism. You mentioned something about a
- 29:26revolutionary act and use the re and our email exchanges.
- 29:32Can we can we delve into that a little bit about what your
- 29:35thoughts were? Yeah, because the 3F food Fuel
- 29:40and finance equals economy. In other words, our economy is
- 29:45how things work. Somebody might barter.
- 29:48They Exchange some silver or gold, they might exchange some
- 29:53dollars but the economy is is only going to operate when you
- 30:00have food Fuel and finance functioning and available.
- 30:05Now in the realm of Finance Finance is, which is Right now,
- 30:13it's kind of like, Western central banks pushing around
- 30:18Fiat currencies and doesn't starts to lose grip, with
- 30:23reality. And one of the big problems with
- 30:26Finance, which is Shackled, people is Usery.
- 30:30Now, I know, we don't use that term a lot anymore so I'll just
- 30:33Define it for you. User is excessive compound
- 30:37interest where a person buys a home and they're lucky.
- 30:41Get a paid off by the time they die.
- 30:44This is shackling people it's not right and Jesus in his
- 30:50discourse with the wealthy stoic, Roman citizen listed off,
- 30:5610 types of wealth. But during that talk, he warned
- 31:01against the problem with Usery. It's unfair, it's thoughtless.
- 31:06It's a ripoff, it's unkind. And in that paper, I do a Oracle
- 31:12search with the Catholic, the Orthodox, the Jewish and the
- 31:17Muslim view points where they all early on were against Usery
- 31:23and he had it written into their doctrines.
- 31:26You might say that this was not good, but one by one.
- 31:30They all fold it. And I point out this history
- 31:34where they just Acquiesced to the lower the temptation of
- 31:42making incredible amounts of money by charging people
- 31:47interest. So the average person looks at
- 31:49there Their mortgage statement when it comes in the mail each
- 31:54month, and they see how much of the payment went towards
- 31:57interest and how much of a went towards principal dad's, why I
- 32:01wrote the paper user is a revolutionary act.
- 32:05This is, the revolution is a revolt against God, and
- 32:09fairness, and it has to be rectified.
- 32:13And Jesus said, you have to cleanse your Capital.
- 32:16That's a quote, quote, cleanse your Capital unquote and We have
- 32:21to decouple. How is that done?
- 32:25I'm not going to be able to change the minds of the the
- 32:29Western central banks but they're going down right now,
- 32:32they're they're on the verge of collapse.
- 32:35And so we're going to have to rebuild, but as we rebuild,
- 32:40there has to be lending is fine. Small amount of Interest or fees
- 32:46is fine. But not this, this Usery, which
- 32:50is Unfair. And so I just had to point it
- 32:54out. This is not rocket science.
- 32:56There's reasons why. We are suffering, a lot of
- 33:00people are suffering, the way that they are.
- 33:01Just think if people didn't have to pay all that kind of
- 33:04Interest, how much more in the way of funds that they would
- 33:08have available for their families for their laudable,
- 33:11life projects for Urantia, projects for evangelism or
- 33:17whatever they're calling is. So it's not right?
- 33:20It needs to be called out and that's why I wrote that paper.
- 33:24So I'm a homeowner and I signed the documents and I agreed to
- 33:28the I'm not sure if I knew whether they were fair or not,
- 33:32but it allowed me to get into my home, right?
- 33:36So, you know, you could say, well, look, I'm the one that
- 33:39signed so nobody twisted my arm but you're saying that the the
- 33:43the entire premise of the Usery is unfair because it it it never
- 33:50goes away. It seems right.
- 33:51So but what yeah what is this expound on a little bit more for
- 33:56me and for people who might share the same life Variances is
- 34:00I do? You know, back in the old days
- 34:05when you could buy a house for twenty or thirty thousand
- 34:09dollars and I actually know somebody now who has a loan from
- 34:12an individual number in my family and she's just paying
- 34:15simple interest. Well, that means if the interest
- 34:19is 5% and you get a loan for a hundred thousand dollars, that
- 34:25just means you're going to pay five thousand dollars in simple
- 34:27interest, that's the way you used to be.
- 34:30But now all these four Search or large religious groupings.
- 34:35I mention have caved into accepting Usery as compound
- 34:43interest and when you sign that document it wasn't like you had
- 34:47a lot of choice, right? Nobody else offering anything.
- 34:50The only choice was going to be 3% or 4% or 5%, you know, that's
- 34:56not much of a choice because once you put that into a
- 34:59compound interest table, that means you're going to be plenty,
- 35:02paying double. You know, by the time you end up
- 35:05well actually it's even worse than that for a hundred thousand
- 35:08dollar home. Over 30 years you'll end up
- 35:11paying three hundred thousand in it because of the interest, you
- 35:14know. Yeah, and that's just a ver
- 35:16bare-bones and I can see you know, but it's I think what
- 35:19you're trying to say is that there are a lot of things like
- 35:22that that we have adopted into our modern capitalist
- 35:26free-market society and you know but even the Urantia book, makes
- 35:31it very clear that the profit motive.
- 35:34Eventually is destructive. He has to be profit-making is
- 35:40fine. According to what Jesus told
- 35:43that stoic everybody's of deserves to make some profit
- 35:48from from their labors and their invention but it has to be
- 35:54within reason. It's not to take advantage of
- 35:58the other person and it has to be more and more supplanted.
- 36:03By the service motives are we actually serving people and
- 36:07helping people? While we're making a little
- 36:10profit along the way? I get it, right?
- 36:12Right. Do you see that happening?
- 36:14Where we become more service-oriented in the decades
- 36:18to come? I mean, is this where some of
- 36:20this equality and Equity is derived from that energy is
- 36:24because, you know, these people feel that a more fair system and
- 36:29what do they get right about that?
- 36:31And what do they get wrong about that?
- 36:33Well, the part that gets wrong that is being gotten wrong, is
- 36:38is the idea that equality of outcomes is is a good thing to
- 36:43strive for. I feel it, that's very negative
- 36:46and destructive. I don't think that we can.
- 36:50I don't think we have any promise or Reason to bring a
- 36:53quality of outcomes because people have all different kinds
- 36:56of levels of ability and interest and involvement in the
- 37:02market. I saw others have very little or
- 37:05less and each should be able to live their life as they want.
- 37:11But the service mode of means that in our work, while we're
- 37:15making a little bit of profit and this is growing, and I've
- 37:19been involved in nonprofit sector for a long time,
- 37:23supporting causes like that. That means that what we want to
- 37:27do is we want to serve one another, and we want to help one
- 37:30another it, all kinds of ways. As you know, for me it was
- 37:35working at an orphanage for 20 years for somebody else.
- 37:38It's something different, so whatever it is. the service mode
- 37:47of will eventually bring us into a future time where money almost
- 37:57become starts to become Irrelevant.
- 37:59This is some time into the future.
- 38:01It's almost like a Star Trek future.
- 38:03Yeah. But you know, that is where it's
- 38:06going right now. We need to bring more fairness,
- 38:10not equality of outcomes, but equality's of opportunity that
- 38:16support everyone in their lot of a life projects and the ability
- 38:21to work at a job. And make a living and put a
- 38:24family together. A lot of people, a lot of young
- 38:27people now are so saddled with college debt that they can't
- 38:31even buy a home. And if they can't buy a home,
- 38:34then they're reluctant to get married.
- 38:37And if they don't get married, they don't have children and
- 38:39then they don't have families and it's very destructive.
- 38:44So it does make a difference. Yeah.
- 38:47So let's talk about family for a moment Joshua.
- 38:50I see a d infa sizing of the family, which is according to
- 38:55the two, most favorite parts of your Ranch, a book in the third
- 38:59section on marriage. That's where so much of
- 39:04characters, established morality ethics, altruism it all starts
- 39:09in the home and it starts with siblings learning that they're
- 39:12not the center of the universe. It's learning to be loyal.
- 39:17That's where we learned to be loyal.
- 39:19It's learned where we learned. So many I'm so grateful that
- 39:23when I think about that I had a I had a pretty decent growing
- 39:27up. I mean it wasn't perfect but I'm
- 39:30glad that those first six seven years were how they were because
- 39:34it is literally true you do. Because, you know, I was raised
- 39:38in a family of four for kids, three kids, one from a different
- 39:43father and we did learn self sacrifice.
- 39:47We weren't Rich, we were somewhat on the lower Spectrum
- 39:51so you know, you value things and you know so but if you don't
- 39:55have that if that's not how you start out and it seems like the
- 40:01in phasis on family now is nothing that it's almost - the
- 40:07way that Society portrays, it's like the nuclear family is a bad
- 40:13word. Your thoughts on that?
- 40:17It's like a three-legged stool. Your actual book says the three
- 40:21pillars of society. R.
- 40:26Family Church and School. for you Ranch book, readers church
- 40:33for us means what we're doing right here, getting together
- 40:37with people having study groups having conferences, having
- 40:41Institutes and then we have school.
- 40:46Our children must be educated young children, high schoolers
- 40:52college, students. We have to have a high degree of
- 40:55Education in order to Balance Kuwait, and create equilibrium
- 41:01and society, and we need the home.
- 41:07And so, without these three, if you pull, any one of those legs
- 41:11out, from underneath the three-legged stool, You're not
- 41:14going to be able to have a place to sit.
- 41:17There's an assault on the family, there's an assault on
- 41:21man and it's very serious and combined with the financial
- 41:28difficulties that I described where family formation is
- 41:32becoming more difficult. The result is that the family as
- 41:38you describe that you grew up in and, which is similar, to what I
- 41:42grew up in a family of four children and back in those days,
- 41:47it was kind of the Leave it to Beaver.
- 41:49Yeah. Sorry for the Existence and it
- 41:51was a great way to grow up. I want this for my own children
- 41:56and for the 770 children that I helped raise it, the children's
- 42:02home. This is our goal, teach the
- 42:04children. Get them involved in sports,
- 42:07teach them how to pray, get them involved in some kind of church
- 42:11activities, whatever that might be, and create a home
- 42:16environment where people have regular meals together where
- 42:20they read and study together. Do things together and build up
- 42:27a rich, wonderful, family life without that.
- 42:31Well, we're not going to have much of a civilization.
- 42:40So, those are the three pillars home school and church.
- 42:47Their goal stated very well stated look, these are like,
- 42:50basic principle Concepts when I hear, you know, my kids, I don't
- 42:56want to have kids or when I hear other people talking about.
- 42:59Well, not everybody is intended to have kids, you know?
- 43:03And or they come out with news reports though it cost you three
- 43:05hundred thousand dollars to raise.
- 43:07Raise a kid. That's right. - like what why
- 43:11are you putting a monetary cost on something and so people today
- 43:15think I, you know, kids aren't important but The dynamic of
- 43:18parenting is just as valuable to the parent as the dynamic of
- 43:23being a child is valuable, right?
- 43:26Because again, you're learning sacrifice service.
- 43:30Oh, I don't want to go to another softball game but you
- 43:33go, oh, I don't want to go see music night at the school.
- 43:36Oh, but you go right and it makes, you know, so it's such a,
- 43:41I mean, I hate to like, even talk about it because it's so
- 43:44basic, but it seems like it's It's being forgotten and that's
- 43:48why I wanted to talk about it. So under assault Thunder
- 43:53assault. And it's not as if you know the
- 43:56other thing that someone brought this to me as well and I will
- 44:00share this with you and maybe we shouldn't talk about it.
- 44:03But you know, there's this movement towards transgenderism
- 44:07which to me it seems as if what we've done is we've adopted an
- 44:11emotional disorder and made it trendy.
- 44:17You know, the idea that you're born into the wrong body, is for
- 44:21someone to feel that way is, is all the signs of somebody who is
- 44:26not comfortable with who they are.
- 44:28And that's, that's the issue. Why isn't this person cuffed
- 44:31comfortable with, who they are? What happened to this person?
- 44:35Where they feel like they have to somehow escape from
- 44:38themselves? You know, the Urantia book says
- 44:41and I'm sure the Bible and other books.
- 44:43Say two things you can't run from yourself.
- 44:45Often God, it's like transgenderism.
- 44:48Seems to be running from yourself.
- 44:52You know, you're running from whoever it is that you are
- 44:54underneath because we're not flesh.
- 44:56I mean, you know, our outer shells are not representative of
- 45:00our true potential. But anyway, any thoughts on
- 45:03that? The I'm for I promote, everybody
- 45:10having a personal relationship with God and that means yeah not
- 45:15running from oneself or running from God.
- 45:19That is the answer to the identity crisis this happening
- 45:25in the world. My only caveat Jim is that
- 45:31Children. Should not be guided into.
- 45:39Anything especially not poverty blockers or surgery.
- 45:45They can't make that decision about what their identity is as
- 45:51children. We have an obligation as adults
- 45:54as a society, as parents as friends to protect children
- 46:00until they can get to the age where they can make their own
- 46:04decisions. So that's pretty much my thigh.
- 46:09People are free to pursue whatever kind of Life Direction,
- 46:15seems right to them. And I plead with everybody of
- 46:18all different straight As of society to seek and find a
- 46:22personal relationship with God. If these are children, my strong
- 46:28opinion is they must be nurtured and Grow Up Normally and
- 46:33naturally not be guided into anything that will cause them to
- 46:38regret changes with the natural unfolding of their sexuality,
- 46:44whatever that might be. We'll wait and see how that
- 46:47turns out. But let's not take 3 and 5 and
- 46:5110 year olds and be telling them that there's something other
- 46:57Then their birth sex, let's let that play out and then they can
- 47:02make that decision for themselves later.
- 47:04And by the way, for people listening, this is coming from a
- 47:07guy who has he mentioned a rather humbly?
- 47:10He's raised 700 children. Okay?
- 47:13Okay. That's right.
- 47:14I think he might have a thing or two to offer on this subject,
- 47:18okay? Final question.
- 47:20And let me tell you something. We're going to end this segment
- 47:23Josh, with your music. Because you're a damn good
- 47:27musician and I listened to what you told me to listen to were
- 47:31you sad that Ramsey Lewis past. Oh, that was a shock of course
- 47:35for all of us wasn't it? He's a great.
- 47:38I love him. The In Crowd is one of my
- 47:40favorite songs grammy-winning grammy-winning to.
- 47:43They didn't mention that. But yeah, what a what a great
- 47:46you love music? Are you going to be a Celestial
- 47:49Artisan? Are you going to volunteer for
- 47:51that service when the time comes?
- 47:54I really look forward to spending time with beings like
- 47:57that and Celestial Artisans. Sometimes I feel like From time
- 48:04to time, they have come down and touched upon the Earth and I've
- 48:08gotten some inspiration. I think other musicians have
- 48:13said similar things. Yeah, I look forward to that and
- 48:15also the conductors of worship, you know, to me, that's our
- 48:19highest. And, and first calling, and I
- 48:22just love being involved in worship, many times, leading
- 48:28worship at conferences. And so, so on and so forth.
- 48:33It's a Wonderful, Wonderful Life having that musical component in
- 48:38there. I'm not a very good musician but
- 48:42I sense the wonderful feeling of unity when you're playing with
- 48:46other people and there's that synchronicity that happens and
- 48:50it comes out of nowhere and it's a beautiful thing.
- 48:53It really is, it's just sort of touching is Immanuel.
- 48:57Kant would say it's touching Divine Divinity.
- 48:59Just a little bit and it's a pretty cool.
- 49:01So let's end it on that note. I'll play some music that you
- 49:04shared with me and I like this people are very responsive to
- 49:09you. And it's easy to see why.
- 49:12So I thank you for joining me again.
- 49:14This time, I think our fourth appearance now here on the ranch
- 49:17Radio podcast. So any final thoughts, anything
- 49:20that you want to promote that you're involved with the paper
