- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:29coop. Not as early as normal because
- 0:31I'm on vacation, trying to get all my projects done and having
- 0:36fun. So this morning we're talking
- 0:39about something that is near and dear to my heart.
- 0:42And you've heard me say this before, if you're a regular
- 0:44listener. However, if you're going to
- 0:46argue for your limitations, you have to give equal time to your
- 0:49greatness and I I just fully believe that.
- 0:53I believe it for myself and I found myself this morning very
- 0:57early. I'm working on a project to make
- 0:59my year end stuff better by not having to spend hours and hours
- 1:05and hours getting stuff ready for my accountant.
- 1:08I was asking myself like I actually I was aggravated and I
- 1:12was going through statements and trying to see if I had
- 1:14everything in order and I kept thinking to myself I'm just
- 1:18asking the wrong question and when I asked I changed the
- 1:21question I was asking. I came up with an answer which
- 1:24led me back to, I have to be willing to argue for my
- 1:28greatness as much as my limitations.
- 1:30And that got me thinking. And I'm telling you this because
- 1:32I want you to realize how these string of thoughts come together
- 1:35sometimes because we all do it and we all wonder why we feel
- 1:38like we've been on a walkabout as our Australian friends say,
- 1:41and to get to an answer. But the real reason is because
- 1:44we have to recognize that this is how our brain string thoughts
- 1:48together. But in any event, I I got to the
- 1:52point where I was like, OK, we all spend so much time looking
- 1:56at what we didn't do, right? That's what I was doing in my
- 1:59accounting thing, chastising myself for how I had done it,
- 2:03how I should have done it differently.
- 2:04I was shooting all over myself and I was looking at all this
- 2:07stuff and I was like, damn it, I have to start this all over
- 2:10again. I can't stand doing this.
- 2:12There has to be a better way. I'm just not good with this and
- 2:15I'm not. And I just was on this tirade
- 2:18with myself until I stopped, took a break, walked away, got
- 2:22very centered, literally sat quietly and in my head was just
- 2:26focused on thinking of pretty, pretty flowers.
- 2:30Like that's exactly what I was doing.
- 2:32I closed my eyes and I was meditating on all the different
- 2:35times walking through the farm that I had seen all the flowers.
- 2:39And then all of a sudden, an answer popped into my head about
- 2:42how I could handle this quarterly, how I could do things
- 2:45differently, something easier, how I can have somebody help me
- 2:49with the statements, IE my daughter.
- 2:51And it just all of a sudden fell into place.
- 2:54And I was like, OK, the stress level went away.
- 2:57But that required me to think about things differently.
- 3:00It required me to ask a better question.
- 3:02And not 2 minutes after I finished that whole exercise,
- 3:05one of my clients sent me a text message.
- 3:08And yes, I get text messages from people even when I'm on
- 3:11vacation. And I don't mind saying that she
- 3:15was focused on what her financial abundance was going to
- 3:19be. And I sent back a message and
- 3:22basically was like, well, first you have to decide what that
- 3:25means to you because it means something different to
- 3:27everybody. And again, it comes back to
- 3:29asking a better question, which is our theme today.
- 3:32Are you asking the right questions and are are those
- 3:35questions leading you to feel better?
- 3:38Now, this is a really interesting way to go about it,
- 3:40but it is a telltale pattern. If you are asking questions that
- 3:44make you feel bad, then we have to change the questions to see
- 3:48how we can feel better. Because once we feel better, we
- 3:51come up with better things. We think clearer.
- 3:53We just have better patterns. So it's important to remember,
- 3:58am I asking the right question? Am I asking the right question
- 4:01and looking for, you know, those specific, specific questions
- 4:06that are going to lead us down a better path?
- 4:09It's not complicated. It's just tedious sometimes
- 4:14because we get hung up in that emotion that is really being
- 4:17driven by that crappy question and then we stick with it.
- 4:21So today it's all about asking yourself because I mean,
- 4:25obviously we're at the very end of the year, it's the 30th and
- 4:28where are you asking good questions?
- 4:30Are you saying, Oh my gosh, I'm so behind?
- 4:33How did I get so behind? You know, when you start asking
- 4:35questions like that, do you say, oh, I'm not finishing up the
- 4:38year or the way I wanted to? And do you start to put yourself
- 4:42under pressure? I mean, I know I do.
- 4:44I absolutely do. Hence me doing paperwork like
- 4:48this before the end of the year because I made a commitment that
- 4:51I, I was not going to leave the year in the same state I left
- 4:54the previous year, but I didn't, I didn't give myself enough time
- 4:59because I was involved with farm stuff.
- 5:01And that's the stuff that's fun. So I, I, but it in this pain
- 5:06because the pain is always a good motivator to get us going.
- 5:10I have come up with a solution. I've come up with a new pattern,
- 5:13I've come up with something better.
- 5:15So here we are. Here's what we're doing and
- 5:18here's how we're going to do it. And ask yourself a better
- 5:21question today. Ask yourself a better question.
- 5:24Ask yourself a better question. I promise you keep doing it and
- 5:28keep changing the questions. And if you can't come up with
- 5:30good questions, reach out. We'll give you good questions.
- 5:33And honestly, seriously, 100%, it drives everything.
- 5:39The quality of your life is a direct reflection of the quality
- 5:42of questions you ask yourself. So change the questions my
- 5:45friends. I hope you have a blessed day
- 5:47and I will see you all tomorrow. Bye.
