- 0:00Speaker 1: Jeff Bosher from the Inside the Birds podcast is here.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Draft week of course, in the books post draft now
- 0:07Speaker 1: and a lot to discuss with Jeff on this Wednesday
- 0:10Speaker 1: edition of Football at four on the Sports Bass Live
- 0:13Speaker 1: ninety seven to three ESPN. And Jeff, I want to
- 0:16Speaker 1: kind of get some thoughts on the guys that they
- 0:18Speaker 1: brought in here. We were talking about this earlier today
- 0:21Speaker 1: or yesterday about of this draft class. How many guys
- 0:26Speaker 1: do you think will contribute Day one players from this
- 0:30Speaker 1: group of.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Guys Lemon for sure, stours for sure. You're you're saying contribute.
- 0:37Speaker 2: They don't have to play like you know, seventy twelve.
- 0:39Speaker 1: They might not have, they might not be you know,
- 0:41Speaker 1: starters or whatever, but that they they basically have a
- 0:45Speaker 1: role right right from Jump Street.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yeah, I would say the top two for sure. I
- 0:50Speaker 2: think with Mark Mark hil Bell possibly as the top
- 0:56Speaker 2: depth interior offensive lineman, maybe if they cross train him there,
- 1:00Speaker 2: maybe even the top I would have to think Fred
- 1:03Speaker 2: Johnson will be the top ot U less Bell is
- 1:06Speaker 2: really you know, knocking their socks off. So with the
- 1:09Speaker 2: injuries Eagles have had on the old line, you would
- 1:13Speaker 2: imagine that Bell will have an opportunity to get into
- 1:16Speaker 2: play at some point unless they bird just have a
- 1:19Speaker 2: clean bill of health there, so certainly the top three
- 1:25Speaker 2: and then you know, I just I think they've got
- 1:29Speaker 2: so much going on on learning the new offense that
- 1:32Speaker 2: I can't imagine a Taysom Hill roll for Cole Payton.
- 1:35Speaker 2: It's gonna be something you're gonna see right off the bat.
- 1:37Speaker 2: I'm sure they'll work on it in training camp and
- 1:41Speaker 2: you know, try to integrate it at some point. They
- 1:43Speaker 2: probably won't show it in the preseason, but maybe maybe maybe,
- 1:48Speaker 2: you know, depending on how the offense is going early on,
- 1:51Speaker 2: you might see that. And did I miss anybody? I
- 1:54Speaker 2: don't think anybody else after that, well, I guess they're
- 1:58Speaker 2: in trouble. If like a Cole is new, you're a
- 2:00Speaker 2: Terrence Nuby have to play immediately.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:03Speaker 1: So that's I'm glad we started and went down that road.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So we we both think Lemon will have a role,
- 2:09Speaker 1: Probably Stours has somewhat of a role. The linemen only
- 2:12Speaker 1: have a role if there's injuries likely, right, Uh, yeah, I.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Mean, because I mean, yeah, Marklpel should not be starting
- 2:20Speaker 2: over anybody on the current offensive line.
- 2:23Speaker 3: And Michael Morris as well, Oh yeah, right, forgot it.
- 2:26Speaker 1: And Cole Peyton obviously he might have a minor role
- 2:29Speaker 1: if anything.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Cole was Nowski. Let's talk about him a little bit.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Seventh round pick Marcus Epps, Andrew mccouba, Cole was Nooski.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Do they go and trade for somebody or find another
- 2:42Speaker 1: guy or do they want to wish Nooski to be
- 2:45Speaker 1: to contend there?
- 2:47Speaker 2: No, you never want a seventh round pick. I mean,
- 2:49Speaker 2: you want a seventh round pick to show that he's
- 2:52Speaker 2: good enough to contend, but you do not want to
- 2:55Speaker 2: be a championship team that says, oh boy, the best
- 2:58Speaker 2: that we've got is a seventh round pick who has
- 3:01Speaker 2: played like a seventh round pick.
- 3:03Speaker 3: You know.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Uh, Colenuski is six three, he's over two ten or
- 3:06Speaker 2: around two ten, maybe more so. The issue with him
- 3:10Speaker 2: is range. You know, as a as a safety. It
- 3:12Speaker 2: was in college, and he's a little more fluid than
- 3:15Speaker 2: people might think as far as backpedaling and coverage running
- 3:18Speaker 2: with tight ends. But range is going to be an issue.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And the Eagles are going to make a move here.
- 3:22Speaker 2: They're gonna either sign somebody right before the season, maybe
- 3:26Speaker 2: they'll trade for somebody. The thing is you want to
- 3:29Speaker 2: look at teams that just drafted safeties and see if
- 3:31Speaker 2: they have a surplus. You know, the Browns are an example.
- 3:34Speaker 2: They have del Pit, they have Hickman, they just drafted
- 3:37Speaker 2: a safety.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Also, so maybe there's something that be worked out there.
- 3:42Speaker 2: But yeah, that's that's if Cole was Nuski is your
- 3:45Speaker 2: starting safety. One of two things happened. One he was
- 3:48Speaker 2: the most amazing thing Vic Fangrio has ever seen have
- 3:51Speaker 2: a seventh rounder, which is not likely. Or two, the
- 3:53Speaker 2: Eagles are in real trouble.
- 3:55Speaker 3: What do you do with who are Bernard? How does
- 3:58Speaker 3: that play out? Like? What do you do with that guy?
- 4:00Speaker 1: Where you draft a guy, you take a shot on
- 4:03Speaker 1: him because of his freakish measurables. I can't imagine he's
- 4:06Speaker 1: on the fifty three active game day roster. Maybe if
- 4:10Speaker 1: he just absolutely surprises everyone, this guy who's never played before.
- 4:14Speaker 1: So how do you handle if you want to develop
- 4:17Speaker 1: and keep him around?
- 4:18Speaker 2: I mean, right now as we sit here to say,
- 4:20Speaker 2: I see, you know just two paths. One is that
- 4:23Speaker 2: he doesn't make the team and you bring him back
- 4:25Speaker 2: on the practice squad. Two is that he makes the.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Tell to somebody else. If you release him and try
- 4:30Speaker 1: to put him on the practice squad, you're opening up
- 4:33Speaker 1: someone else saying, well, we liked what with Philadelphia liked,
- 4:37Speaker 1: and we're going to take a shot. But they would
- 4:39Speaker 1: have to put him on their active roster, right.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Of course, right, they have to put him on their
- 4:42Speaker 2: fifty three. And then the second is the Eagles stash
- 4:46Speaker 2: him on their fifty three as a developmental guy, but
- 4:49Speaker 2: he is inactive on game day. And that's where the
- 4:52Speaker 2: new practice squad rules and the elevations and allowing veterans
- 4:55Speaker 2: have really helped because you can supplement that roster spot
- 5:00Speaker 2: that you're taking up with a total project, developmental guy
- 5:03Speaker 2: with elevations from the practice squad of veterans.
- 5:06Speaker 1: So he would be in there, and let's talk about it,
- 5:08Speaker 1: because we did not talk about it on Monday, and
- 5:10Speaker 1: that was my fault. But he is an edge guy
- 5:13Speaker 1: or a tackle. They trade it for, obviously Jonathan Grenard,
- 5:18Speaker 1: And we talked about the draft class in its totality,
- 5:21Speaker 1: but we didn't talk about the trade they made on
- 5:23Speaker 1: draft night, which was for Grenard. So I mean, they
- 5:28Speaker 1: give him a third rounder this year and a third
- 5:30Speaker 1: rounder next year. Then they signed him to this ninety
- 5:33Speaker 1: eight million dollar extension. What do you make of Grenard
- 5:36Speaker 1: and his fit and then what that means as compared
- 5:39Speaker 1: to last year of Phillips. Are they a better unit
- 5:42Speaker 1: now than they were last year?
- 5:44Speaker 2: No, that's a very good question because it's not always
- 5:47Speaker 2: apples to apples, despite what statistics say. Now, the positives are,
- 5:51Speaker 2: Grenard has played in two really good defenses. He played
- 5:54Speaker 2: in the Texans defense, then he went over to Minnesota
- 5:57Speaker 2: and two years ago in a very good defense, a
- 6:00Speaker 2: very good year. He's had multiple years of double digit sacks.
- 6:03Speaker 2: He's a pro bowler, He's a really good edge defender.
- 6:06Speaker 2: He would start for basically any team in the NFL,
- 6:09Speaker 2: There's no question about it. All right, So those are
- 6:11Speaker 2: the positives. And then on top of that, if you
- 6:14Speaker 2: weren't able to trade for him, it would have sort
- 6:16Speaker 2: of forced Howie Roseman to have to take an edge
- 6:19Speaker 2: rusher sometime on day one or day two and maybe
- 6:22Speaker 2: reach for compared to what the board said, so that
- 6:25Speaker 2: they didn't have to do took care of it. Good
- 6:27Speaker 2: for them, that's what you gotta do. The only question
- 6:31Speaker 2: that I would have is Grenard's a little bit lighter
- 6:36Speaker 2: than Phillips.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Phillips.
- 6:38Speaker 2: So now he's played again for two really good defensive
- 6:41Speaker 2: coordinators Flores and and Demko Ryans, and I'm sure he's
- 6:45Speaker 2: fine against the run, but they are a little lighter
- 6:48Speaker 2: on the edges. The one of the good things about
- 6:50Speaker 2: bringing Phillips was that he's a big guy, perfect sides
- 6:53Speaker 2: for the position as a dual pass rusher run defender,
- 6:57Speaker 2: and that was great, and also that he was experience
- 7:00Speaker 2: in Vic Fangio's system. And the one question concerned, I
- 7:04Speaker 2: guess very minor, is that, for whatever reason, there have
- 7:07Speaker 2: been a couple of pretty good pass rushers to come
- 7:09Speaker 2: to the Eagles who were succeeded elsewhere but did not
- 7:13Speaker 2: fit into Vic Fangio's scheme. Or it's not if they
- 7:17Speaker 2: didn't fit into a scheme or weren't productive enough to
- 7:19Speaker 2: please Vic. You know, obviously Bryce Huff is the one
- 7:22Speaker 2: that stands out, but there was also Ojulari and even
- 7:25Speaker 2: Uce who came in here and looked like he was
- 7:27Speaker 2: doing all right and then completely sat the bench once
- 7:30Speaker 2: they made other moves. So if Vic doesn't see what
- 7:34Speaker 2: he wants to see out of Grenard, he will not
- 7:36Speaker 2: play him, and that would look bad for a guy
- 7:38Speaker 2: making all that money who he just gave up the
- 7:41Speaker 2: trade pave for. But this is what I would call
- 7:44Speaker 2: the nightmare doomsday scenario.
- 7:46Speaker 3: That's very unlikely that that's your Bryce Huff.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I would just bring that up because we've seen
- 7:51Speaker 2: some evidence of it. It's not apples the apples he
- 7:54Speaker 2: unlike Bryce Huff, has experienced playing in the three four
- 7:58Speaker 2: or like dropping in the coverage as well as rushing
- 8:01Speaker 2: the passer. It shouldn't be an issue.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Well, and you know I said yesterday and and you
- 8:05Speaker 1: know again, I can't believe we didn't have this conversation
- 8:08Speaker 1: on Monday, but it gave us more to talk about today.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Is that Grenard not as good against the run as
- 8:14Speaker 1: Phillips was, but probably a better pass rusher.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I would say, just as good of a pass rusher.
- 8:22Speaker 2: I mean the Phillips I don't always measure in stats
- 8:25Speaker 2: because he's been hurt.
- 8:27Speaker 3: So much so Gernard too, by the way, Yeah, well Gernard.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Was hurt last year, but and he did have a year.
- 8:33Speaker 3: He's had some injury issues.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yes, he's certainly certainly both went healthy, are fairly productive.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And then yeah, you could say that there's more sack
- 8:42Speaker 2: evidence from Grenard. But again, like I thought Phillips was
- 8:46Speaker 2: a really good two way.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Type of.
- 8:49Speaker 1: I would agree like that Phillips is probably a better
- 8:52Speaker 1: more of a three down guy than Grenard would be.
- 8:55Speaker 2: I mean, Gernard will have to be a three he's
- 8:57Speaker 2: gonna start, there's no question about it. But yeah, you just.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Well, I question is is he a better run guy
- 9:04Speaker 1: than Nolan Smith?
- 9:06Speaker 3: And you were hoping the answer is yes.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good point because Nolan Smith is actually
- 9:10Speaker 2: shown to be after three years, I guess a little
- 9:13Speaker 2: bit better, more tenacious of a run defender than he
- 9:16Speaker 2: is a consistent.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Pass hit from is just too damn small.
- 9:21Speaker 2: It's been a problem so far. Yeah, yes, Now go
- 9:25Speaker 2: ask Elton Jenkins and who's the other guard that he
- 9:28Speaker 2: put out for a long time. He took put two
- 9:31Speaker 2: guys out, you know, pulling guards because he knocked him
- 9:33Speaker 2: on their keysters. So they wouldn't say he's small, but
- 9:36Speaker 2: he his body is not held.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Up all right.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Got into this conversation this morning, Jeff Mosher football at four.
- 9:42Speaker 1: I want to get yours. So, personnel wise, this defense
- 9:50Speaker 1: had the ability to be better than last year's defense.
- 9:55Speaker 2: Well, I don't. Yeah, I mean that's tough. So from
- 9:59Speaker 2: a talent pure talent standpoint.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Person for person, do you like the personnel on this
- 10:04Speaker 1: defense better than last year's So it's weird.
- 10:07Speaker 2: There's a little bit of a give and take. So
- 10:09Speaker 2: I just talked about the edge right where they're a
- 10:11Speaker 2: little lighter but maybe a little faster. With Grenard, I
- 10:14Speaker 2: would say at off ball linebacker, you're a little more athletic,
- 10:19Speaker 2: assuming John Campbell comes back well from the shoulder surgery.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Exactly where we went with this conversation was you're more athletic.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Right, but you're lacking in a little bit of a
- 10:30Speaker 2: know how, an experience and a leadership that I didn't
- 10:34Speaker 2: realize was going to make the difference that it did.
- 10:37Speaker 2: When Nakobe Dan came back and by the way, he
- 10:39Speaker 2: also played really well too, but part of that ability
- 10:43Speaker 2: to play well was just knowing how to play the game.
- 10:46Speaker 2: And man, when he came on a blitz on a
- 10:49Speaker 2: simp pressure, he was on block while he was blowing
- 10:52Speaker 2: up running backs and I'm not saying Campbell can't do that.
- 10:56Speaker 2: And Campbell, I think ran better than na Kobe and
- 10:58Speaker 2: will cover better. So there's the give and take and
- 11:01Speaker 2: then the secondary remains to be seen. I think that
- 11:04Speaker 2: there are you know, for as much as everybody piled
- 11:07Speaker 2: myself included, piled on the Dory Jackson, you wound up
- 11:10Speaker 2: holding that starting job down. I think riek Walland has
- 11:13Speaker 2: a higher upside but has to show.
- 11:14Speaker 1: It, right, Like when after week one against Dallas, which
- 11:18Speaker 1: was abomination, when else were you like, man, that Jackson's
- 11:22Speaker 1: killing me.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there were a couple of a couple
- 11:26Speaker 2: of passes in the Detroit game that I remember where.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I mean, of course you're going up against aman Rose
- 11:32Speaker 2: Brown and you're gonna have plays.
- 11:34Speaker 3: Through the year.
- 11:36Speaker 1: But it's not like week in and week out you
- 11:38Speaker 1: kept saying, oh my god, a Dory Jackson again, Like
- 11:43Speaker 1: who Nate Geary? Every week teams were going, let's go
- 11:47Speaker 1: right after forty seven?
- 11:48Speaker 2: Right, It was just like James Bradbury more recently for
- 11:51Speaker 2: that position. Bradbury for the contract extension. Yeah it was bad.
- 11:55Speaker 2: So yeah, I think Greek Wollan has a higher upside
- 11:57Speaker 2: and should be better. But then at safety, I couldn't
- 12:02Speaker 2: tell you right now what's going on? You know what
- 12:03Speaker 2: I mean?
- 12:04Speaker 1: Well, you ended the season with Marcus Epps and Red Blankenship,
- 12:08Speaker 1: you're gonna start right now.
- 12:11Speaker 3: We think they're gonna do something.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Andrew mccuba and Marcus Epps, you're probably downgraded at safety.
- 12:16Speaker 2: I don't think they're gonna start the season with Marcus
- 12:18Speaker 2: Epps at safety. I really don't.
- 12:20Speaker 1: I agree, as you know, I said, we think they'll
- 12:22Speaker 1: go outside. But right now you have mccuba and Epps.
- 12:26Speaker 1: You know, when they brought Epps back here, I don't
- 12:28Speaker 1: think they anticipated they brought him.
- 12:30Speaker 3: Back to start.
- 12:31Speaker 2: No, they did not. He's a number three safety. And honestly,
- 12:34Speaker 2: if you look go back and look at the forty
- 12:36Speaker 2: nine Ers game, you know, I think not having mccuba
- 12:39Speaker 2: and just being a little bit less athletic with Blanketship
- 12:43Speaker 2: and Epps at safety really opened up the door for
- 12:47Speaker 2: a couple of big plays by the forty nine Ers offense.
- 12:50Speaker 1: We're talking with Jeff Mosher Inside the Birds the Inside
- 12:53Speaker 1: the Birds podcast. You guys discussed the front office departures,
- 12:57Speaker 1: which you know, this is every off season for the team,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and it doesn't.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Seem to really knock him off. Course.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Teams keep plucking and they keep on, you know, winning
- 13:08Speaker 1: the off seasons. By the pundits Anyway, at what point
- 13:12Speaker 1: do these defections start to catch up to them?
- 13:15Speaker 2: Right? And not all of these are plucking. Some guys
- 13:17Speaker 2: are leaving on their own. Some guys are just not
- 13:19Speaker 2: getting renewed. But in a micro not as big of
- 13:22Speaker 2: a deal they seem to. You know how, he always
- 13:24Speaker 2: does a good job replacing guys. Joe Douglas in next
- 13:27Speaker 2: guy out. You know, I'm sure Joe Douglas will get
- 13:29Speaker 2: a little bit more of a bump now that Alec
- 13:31Speaker 2: Halliby is gone. And you know, Andrew Berry, I'm sorry,
- 13:35Speaker 2: Adam Berry, who's Andrew Berry's brother, who's been working in
- 13:37Speaker 2: the Eagles front office for a couple of years. Now,
- 13:40Speaker 2: high rising guy, he'll probably he's an analytics guy from
- 13:43Speaker 2: Wall Street, so he probably can take over a lot
- 13:46Speaker 2: of the analytics department work that Alec Halliby presided over.
- 13:51Speaker 2: So you have Joe de doing personnel and Barry doing
- 13:54Speaker 2: analytics and other things. So that's good, but obviously losing
- 13:59Speaker 2: here's the bigger shoe. Since the end of last year's draft,
- 14:03Speaker 2: there's been eight departures overall. Okay, and then I still
- 14:08Speaker 2: am of the mindset just hearing things that there might
- 14:11Speaker 2: be more guys not back. So it's one thing to
- 14:13Speaker 2: rely and replace a guy here, a guy there. It's
- 14:16Speaker 2: another when you down size the way the Eagles are downsizing.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Losing eight is big and it's not like they're hiring
- 14:23Speaker 2: eight other guys. Their their cash spend has been a
- 14:27Speaker 2: little bit lower, and they're obviously their their money that
- 14:30Speaker 2: they're putting into their scouting and department in front office
- 14:32Speaker 2: has been a little bit lower. So at some point
- 14:35Speaker 2: that catches up with you. And you know, losing Bryce
- 14:37Speaker 2: Johnson on top of losing Jake Rosenberg last year, Okay,
- 14:43Speaker 2: those were their top two salary cap guys. They do
- 14:46Speaker 2: contracts in a different way than the rest of the league.
- 14:49Speaker 2: We talk about that a lot. I'm sure they have
- 14:51Speaker 2: someone who's who's familiar with it in their front office,
- 14:54Speaker 2: but those are two real cutting edge kind of guys
- 14:57Speaker 2: and those that's tough, and it also puts pressure on
- 14:59Speaker 2: howie who could who left that work to them right
- 15:03Speaker 2: to have to like maybe assume a bigger fingerprint there
- 15:07Speaker 2: until he replenishes.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Well, you know, they have lost uh, person after person
- 15:14Speaker 1: they've they you know, they've lost women too in these
- 15:18Speaker 1: front office you know, moving.
- 15:21Speaker 3: How many of them that have left have succeeded.
- 15:25Speaker 2: How many of the people have left the Eagles have
- 15:27Speaker 2: succeeded well. Ian Cunningham is now basically the number two
- 15:30Speaker 2: to Matt Ryan and in Atlanta, so and then he
- 15:35Speaker 2: was in Chicago before Atlanta, and Chicago has really built
- 15:38Speaker 2: up nicely. I mean, they made the playoffs last year,
- 15:40Speaker 2: and a lot of people like the way the Bears
- 15:42Speaker 2: have developed their team. So I'm sure that's uh, you know,
- 15:46Speaker 2: that's a feather in the cap. I don't It's hard
- 15:50Speaker 2: to quant it. Like Jake Rosenberg has now started up
- 15:53Speaker 2: his own business and he's helping college the college football
- 15:56Speaker 2: athletics kind of navigate this world of Nil and Mark
- 16:00Speaker 2: in business oriented things. So I'm sure he's doing well.
- 16:04Speaker 2: It's sort of something that we won't know for I mean,
- 16:07Speaker 2: Dave Caldwell was a trusted, confidentt for Howie. He's now
- 16:11Speaker 2: the general manager of University of Florida football. That's a
- 16:15Speaker 2: job he took in the middle of last year. So
- 16:17Speaker 2: that's a good job. I would say that's a successful,
- 16:21Speaker 2: good thing for Florida. I will see, but we have
- 16:23Speaker 2: to see how Florida does in next year or two.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Yeah, just you know, it seems that they keep losing
- 16:28Speaker 1: front office people. They keep powering through and you're not like,
- 16:33Speaker 1: oh man, look what that guy or girl did in
- 16:37Speaker 1: their new role. You mentioned the Bears, but Cunningham's not
- 16:40Speaker 1: even there anymore.
- 16:41Speaker 2: Right, he got Yeah, he's now in charge of Well,
- 16:44Speaker 2: he's the number two to Matt Ryan in Atlanta.
- 16:46Speaker 1: Right, Joe Douglas went to the Jets. He's now back here.
- 16:49Speaker 1: I don't know what happened to Catherine Raach went to
- 16:52Speaker 1: Cleveland and Andrew Berry right, yeah, yeah, just you're wondering,
- 16:58Speaker 1: at what point does this all to them? And that
- 17:01Speaker 1: how he just you know, it's like a coach when
- 17:03Speaker 1: he starts to lose his assistant coaches. We do usually
- 17:07Speaker 1: see how that we see it with Nick right now. Right,
- 17:09Speaker 1: They're constantly going through coaches. You wonder where that will
- 17:12Speaker 1: start to catch up to the front office.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I think it will at some point. I mean,
- 17:18Speaker 2: you hope not, and maybe it won't. Maybe they've got
- 17:21Speaker 2: contingency plans. So there was a long time ago where
- 17:24Speaker 2: the Eagles had such a large scouting department that it
- 17:27Speaker 2: was almost like comical. At one point, we used to
- 17:30Speaker 2: joke about this on the podcast. They had a director
- 17:33Speaker 2: of college scouting, an assistant director of college scouting, and
- 17:37Speaker 2: a senior director of college scouting. Okay, that's that's really
- 17:41Speaker 2: you know, probably wasn't necessary, but again, don't read anything
- 17:44Speaker 2: into titles. Some of that is just to give a
- 17:47Speaker 2: guy a paycheck and a bump and a boost. You
- 17:49Speaker 2: got to give him a nice title, all right. But
- 17:51Speaker 2: they clearly now have gone the other end where they
- 17:54Speaker 2: have a much smaller scouting department than they used to have.
- 17:58Speaker 2: And we'll see if that has an I don't know.
- 18:01Speaker 1: All right, Well, guess what we you know, you know
- 18:05Speaker 1: that the entire league is it usually comes here, right,
- 18:09Speaker 1: everybody comes to Philadelphia and tries to take people from
- 18:13Speaker 1: the front office.
- 18:14Speaker 3: So we'll see how how he moves on.
- 18:16Speaker 1: But by most accounts, many people think that Howie Roseman
- 18:20Speaker 1: again won the off season, even though we're.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Talking about a draft class.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Now, when you look at a draft class, Jeft, do
- 18:26Speaker 1: you include Grenard and Wis as part of that?
- 18:33Speaker 2: Well, I don't like sit around in great draft classes anyway, so.
- 18:36Speaker 3: You know y grading them.
- 18:39Speaker 1: I'm talking about looking at the draft as a whole,
- 18:43Speaker 1: like if you trade a fifth rounder for Wicks and
- 18:45Speaker 1: a third rounder for Grenard. You include that in how
- 18:48Speaker 1: they handled the draft and what they did to improve Sure, sure,
- 18:52Speaker 1: I look.
- 18:52Speaker 2: At it as your total off season maneuverings. Did each
- 18:55Speaker 2: move make sense? Did you get good value for what
- 18:59Speaker 2: you're getting? You have to pay Grenard is worth? Is
- 19:03Speaker 2: Grenard worth two third round picks? I think it's a
- 19:07Speaker 2: fair question, especially if he was on the way out
- 19:09Speaker 2: of Minnesota and you had to redo his contract and
- 19:12Speaker 2: pay him more money. Excuse me, but when you put
- 19:16Speaker 2: it into everything is context, everything is perspective. You also
- 19:19Speaker 2: are getting a third round pick next year for losing
- 19:22Speaker 2: Jalen Phillips. You know, to me, that's fine, It's not
- 19:25Speaker 2: bad business. I will yell to the cows come home
- 19:29Speaker 2: that one of the worst business moves was giving up
- 19:31Speaker 2: a third round pick for Johan Dotson. I thought it
- 19:33Speaker 2: was awful then, I think it's awful now. I don't
- 19:36Speaker 2: care that they won a Super Bowl and then he
- 19:38Speaker 2: made two catches. I feel like anybody they could have
- 19:40Speaker 2: signed off the street could have given him the twelve
- 19:42Speaker 2: catches or whatever that Jahan dotts It was one of
- 19:45Speaker 2: the rare, in my opinion, bad reactionary moves to how
- 19:49Speaker 2: he has made over the last few years. That doesn't
- 19:52Speaker 2: mean I think he's bad. You know, you have to
- 19:54Speaker 2: like over explain everything because people want to jump down
- 19:56Speaker 2: your throat. But that was bad value.
- 19:58Speaker 1: Ye No, I remember you saying that at the day
- 20:00Speaker 1: of the draft, saying you thought they the trade, that
- 20:03Speaker 1: they gave up too much. I recall that vividly because
- 20:06Speaker 1: most people, You're right, our third rounter for Thonson, he
- 20:09Speaker 1: was a first round pick, and Washington doesn't know what
- 20:11Speaker 1: to do with him. They'll they know exactly what.
- 20:13Speaker 3: To do with them. They never figured out what to do.
- 20:15Speaker 2: With them exactly. I had, I had painful like PSTD
- 20:18Speaker 2: from when they traded a second round pick for Doyol
- 20:20Speaker 2: Green Beckham and I had. I was in sports radio
- 20:23Speaker 2: and Philly at the time, arguing with fans for five
- 20:25Speaker 2: hours and why that was the worst trade I'd seen
- 20:27Speaker 2: in a long time. But no, the Titans are dumb
- 20:30Speaker 2: and the Eagles are smarter than everybody, and DGB was
- 20:32Speaker 2: going to be a star. Now, it doesn't usually work
- 20:35Speaker 2: that way, So I'm I'm just bringing that point up
- 20:37Speaker 2: to say you have to evaluate every move with the
- 20:40Speaker 2: proper context. I understand the two third rounders for Grenard
- 20:44Speaker 2: based on what the Eagles needed, what they had, and
- 20:47Speaker 2: what they're going to be getting in future compensation. Pick
- 20:51Speaker 2: by they're basically getting a third round pick back for
- 20:53Speaker 2: losing Phillips, who they're replacing with Grenard. So to me,
- 20:57Speaker 2: it all makes sense.

- 21:17Speaker 2: spring and a summer. I want to you do this

- 21:25Speaker 2: I don't have as much face as the Sixers, but
- 21:27Speaker 2: you know.
- 21:28Speaker 1: It's so bad, Like the Sixers win last night, they
- 21:30Speaker 1: come home and people are like, I really have to
- 21:32Speaker 1: go to this game now.
