- 0:00Gotta stick. Hey guys.
- 0:08Welcome back to the astral world.
- 0:09My name is done. I have autism and I make weekly
- 0:11videos on this kind of content. So if you're new around here,
- 0:13things like to learn more. Remember to hit the Subscribe
- 0:15button by clicking on over keishon Bell and follow this
- 0:20page to see more videos just like this one.
- 0:22Okay guys, so if I had a pound for every time, somebody said to
- 0:26me, you don't look artistic, I would be a bazillionaire 3
- 0:30million times over it, like it. Okay.
- 0:34So let's start the beginning. I wanted to do this video
- 0:36because it's almost like a glamour.
- 0:37Look at me venting at the internet about something that
- 0:40really, really annoys me. Now, people will say the
- 0:43stupidest stuff to autistic individuals, like, hey, guess
- 0:47who old have autism, or like, you don't look artistic off.
- 0:51You couldn't tell. I mean, goodness, me.
- 0:53What, what, what even does that mean?
- 0:55Because, like, autism doesn't have a look.
- 0:57Okay, I'm sorry, but it doesn't have a look, okay, that there's
- 1:00no look of autism, okay? So it's just rude but the answer
- 1:07to Why these people say these things lies in the education
- 1:10part of society. So as people grow in a society
- 1:14and more and more people are diagnosed with autism because we
- 1:16have Better Health Care Systems, we have better diagnostic
- 1:19criteria, we have more people learning about it.
- 1:21The problem we've got is the education side, don't really
- 1:24educate people in the ins and outs of what is and what isn't
- 1:27conditions? You know that nobody tells you
- 1:29hey this is how people on the autism spectrum are apart from
- 1:31people like me on the internet, doing this these videos, but in
- 1:35terms of people's down, I'm right ignorance to just not go
- 1:39and learn it or maybe they don't even have time to learn about it
- 1:42because they think that would be told something if it was
- 1:45important, right? Because we're presented it with
- 1:48things, like, a Hollywood that shows movies like rain, man, and
- 1:52and other artistic characters in films, which are not going to
- 1:54mention, but they represent only like one type of tray or the up.
- 1:57Represent only one type of like minority of people on the autism
- 2:00spectrum, like a nonverbal person who also has learning
- 2:03difficulties or severe intellectual disabilities, you
- 2:05know? And that's not all awesome.
- 2:07It's you know, some people understand Spectrum, I like
- 2:10that. It's called a spectrum for a
- 2:12reason. Now, how are we going to to
- 2:16overcome this issue? You don't look artistic well?
- 2:20Okay, thanks. But you know, you don't look
- 2:22ignorant but you still are and it's kind of like, it's probably
- 2:26like one of my pet peeves because what happens and I did a
- 2:28video all about this imposter syndrome right now.
- 2:31I'll leave a link for that in the description of this video.
- 2:34But I did a video on impostor syndrome and how like When
- 2:38somebody says you don't look artistic or you're not, you're
- 2:41not autistic enough in their eyes to have the diagnosis of
- 2:43autism. You don't start feeling like or,
- 2:46you know, you start feeling like guilty for having a condition
- 2:49that somebody else has a worse form of this condition, you
- 2:53know, like somebody else struggles in a different way
- 2:55because our nonverbal or the, you know, they have more
- 2:58intellectual disability. And you think like, oh goodness,
- 3:00you know, like and that they shouldn't be like that, you
- 3:03know, autism is a spectrum and everybody has their their
- 3:06abilities to you. However, know, has different
- 3:08support needs and that's how it is.
- 3:10It's a spectrum of support needs and we should never be like told
- 3:13you know, by somebody who is completely uneducated and not
- 3:16even you know, a scholar in the field of sychar a psychiatric
- 3:20kind of neurological conditions that you don't look artistic in
- 3:23their eyes. Well, that's great, their
- 3:25opinion does not matter and I think a lot of autistic people
- 3:28need to realize that the opinions of those people does
- 3:31not matter. What matters is how you then
- 3:35deal with the education? Of it.
- 3:37Now, we could all take massive offense to it, like I do and I
- 3:41take offense to it and I got all my goodness.
- 3:42But then I think, okay, this person is obviously ignorant or
- 3:45on an educated and so both of those, the solution is
- 3:50education. So I then take my time to say,
- 3:52well now, you know what? Asthma Spectrum, it doesn't have
- 3:54a specific look, what do you think?
- 3:56Autism is, how have you seen autism before?
- 3:58And they'll probably spot off something about Hollywood, but
- 4:00it seems autistic person in Hollywood or blah, blah, blah.
- 4:03And this is the key then, open that dialogue.
- 4:07And then you have time to educate them, check out our blog
- 4:09or a newspaper and use that skill or magazine or podcast or
- 4:13a video or whatever that you can refer to like the national
- 4:16autistic Society website. That has good data from autistic
- 4:20people that they could learn about it.
- 4:21And I think that is the way to challenge and combat this whole,
- 4:24you don't look artistic nonsense.
- 4:26It it's probably the most frustrating thing that I see all
- 4:31the time. And everybody, who look, if you
- 4:33agree, what I'm saying in this video, please give it a thumbs
- 4:35up. It would really apply.
- 4:36Really appreciate to know what Your values on it, or if you
- 4:39have anything else to add, pop it in a comment, I read every
- 4:41single one. But in terms of, you know, how
- 4:45to solve this issue, I think we just have to re-educate people.
- 4:48We need to actually get information out there and what
- 4:50we're doing. You know, we're building this
- 4:51YouTube and Facebook are me. Like I'm doing right now to help
- 4:54go out there and spread the word and be the change of positivity
- 4:57in the world and I love that. Right.
- 4:58And what would make composite change or making leaps and
- 5:01strides in this? But in terms of, you know, how
- 5:05are we going to do it? This is how Do you know, we just
- 5:08we just need to enter into those conversations even though it may
- 5:12be upsetting for his at that time.
- 5:13And if you have the ability to enter into a conversation and do
- 5:17it because you are helping many autistic, people actually going
- 5:20to be running, kind of more poles and stuff.
- 5:22My Instagram's, if you want to catch up me on Instagram, you
- 5:24can head over to the ask me world on Instagram as well.

- 5:33my friends and colleagues who are in this space on YouTube and
- 5:36Facebook and Instagram. Instagram, and Twitter and
- 5:38everywhere else and Tick-Tock making all of these videos and
- 5:41content pieces to help people on the autism spectrum.
- 5:44How magnify that message of equal kind of spectrum
- 5:49understanding? I think we're going to be able
- 5:51to change the world and I think that's a powerful thing guys.
