- 0:00Speaker 1: Now, Ron Verb on NewsRadio 570 WKBN. All right, guess what?
- 0:06Speaker 1: You want to talk? Well, that's what we're here for.
- 0:10Speaker 1: You better believe it. What a gorgeous day we got
- 0:12Speaker 1: going today. Isn't it a terrific Wednesday? It's October 7th already.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We got a week out of October gone in the
- 0:19Speaker 1: blink of an eye.
- 0:20Speaker 2: How about that?
- 0:20Speaker 3: I mean, before long, Thanksgiving would be here. No, Halloween.
- 0:25Speaker 3: Let's skip over that. We'll be here then Thanksgiving, then Christmas,
- 0:29Speaker 3: then New Year's, and then we start it all over again.
- 0:31Speaker 3: But it's already one week of October gone, and it's Wednesday,
- 0:34Speaker 3: October 7th. It's just a terrific day outside today. The
- 0:38Speaker 3: type of days that we long for around my neck
- 0:41Speaker 3: of the woods here. 73 degrees as we sit here
- 0:44Speaker 3: on Tiffany Boulevard in Boardman. Anyway, good afternoon, one and all.
- 0:48Speaker 3: You want to conversate? Well, we're going to have to
- 0:50Speaker 3: do it somewhat quickly today because... We have a Guardians
- 0:54Speaker 3: baseball game that'll be coming up today. Airtime around 335,
- 0:59Speaker 3: or pregame, I should say, around 335. And let's hope
- 1:03Speaker 3: things work out. I mean, so far, not so good
- 1:07Speaker 3: as far as the Guardians are concerned. So we're down.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Let's see, how many have we won? Oh, none so far.
- 1:14Speaker 4: So.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It would be nice to get a win today. So
- 1:19Speaker 2: we shall see.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I mean, this is going to be an important game
- 1:21Speaker 3: and an exciting game to listen to. And as I say,
- 1:24Speaker 3: our coverage begins around 335. First pitch a little bit
- 1:28Speaker 3: after 4 o'clock. We don't want to sweep here by
- 1:32Speaker 3: the Chicago. We don't want that to happen. We want
- 1:35Speaker 3: to at least, you know, let's get a little bit
- 1:38Speaker 3: of winning going on here and see where we can go. Anyway,
- 1:41Speaker 3: Tom Hamilton calls it all for you right here It's
- 1:44Speaker 3: the voice of the Guardians. News Radio 570 WKBN. All right.
- 1:50Speaker 5: 330-729-9977.
- 1:50Speaker 2: 330-729-9977.
- 1:51Speaker 3: So let me see.
- 1:56Speaker 6: Here.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Sobe could disconnect four customers next week. That's not good
- 2:01Speaker 3: news if you're in downtown Youngstown. Thermal Energy Systems LLC
- 2:04Speaker 3: could disconnect four of its downtown Youngstown customers next that
- 2:08Speaker 3: haven't paid their bills in the last 60 days as
- 2:11Speaker 3: soon as October 13th. Well, you've got to pay your bill, right?
- 2:15Speaker 3: If you don't pay your bill, we're going to shut
- 2:18Speaker 3: it off, as they should be. According to Vindicator, Sobe,
- 2:21Speaker 3: that's the steam plant for downtown and so many of
- 2:24Speaker 3: the buildings down there. The receiver and the court-appointed attorney
- 2:30Speaker 3: told the Vindicator on Tuesday that that the utility company
- 2:34Speaker 3: doesn't want to shut off steam heat to the four buildings,
- 2:37Speaker 3: but if payment isn't made, there is no other choice.
- 2:41Speaker 2: That's right. You've got to pay the bill to get
- 2:43Speaker 2: the steam heat, man.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Moran said, at the moment, we are trying to find
- 2:49Speaker 3: out if they'll make the payments. If not, they'll be disconnected.
- 2:55Speaker 3: We can't provide utility service without receiving payments. If they
- 2:59Speaker 3: don't pay, it forces other customers to pay more. October
- 3:03Speaker 3: 13th is a shutoff date if we don't receive payments.
- 3:07Speaker 3: But that can change as things are fluid.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Hopefully they pay. If they don't, shut them off. Then
- 3:13Speaker 3: everybody else has to pay more. So hopefully they do pay.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's just like you. If you don't pay your electric bill,
- 3:20Speaker 3: shut it off. That's just the way it is. That's
- 3:21Speaker 3: the way it's got to be. Shut it off.
- 3:24Speaker 2: You're on the air. Wait a minute. That's better if
- 3:28Speaker 2: I do that. You're on the air.
- 3:30Speaker 5: Hey there, good afternoon.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Hello, old-timer.
- 3:32Speaker 5: This is Pete. I tried talking to you yesterday, but
- 3:36Speaker 5: then the lawnmowers came over, so I just kind of
- 3:38Speaker 5: shut it down for today.
- 3:39Speaker 3: And you know, I give you credit because it was
- 3:42Speaker 3: just too damn noisy.
- 3:45Speaker 5: Well, I couldn't hear you, so I meant that you
- 3:47Speaker 5: couldn't hear me. Nothing could be any simpler than that.
- 3:51Speaker 3: And just when I thought you were probably going to
- 3:53Speaker 3: make sense, maybe for a change.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Oh, for crying out loud. Bless your sweet, pick-and-peek, pick-and-hurt.
- 4:01Speaker 7: Right.
- 4:02Speaker 3: I thought, hey, he might make a good point today
- 4:04Speaker 3: for a change. But it wasn't meant to be. Anyway,
- 4:07Speaker 3: speak your piece.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Well, yesterday I started off with our discussion.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 4:12Speaker 8: Mm-hmm.
- 4:14Speaker 5: About you had made a statement in the past couple
- 4:17Speaker 5: weeks about a vote against our people, the conservative Republicans
- 4:22Speaker 5: that are trying to get voted back in. as a
- 4:24Speaker 5: vote against Trump. And you said you didn't, but you
- 4:30Speaker 5: tried to talk your way out of it. But anyhow,
- 4:33Speaker 5: like you're good at it. Anyhow.
- 4:36Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 4:37Speaker 5: It is a vote against Trump, but it's a vote
- 4:40Speaker 5: against people that we elect in there that, A, allowed
- 4:45Speaker 5: Trump to do what he was doing knowing it was wrong.
- 4:51Speaker 5: And that's a fact. And then if you want to
- 4:53Speaker 5: with the big New Deal, the way he's running the
- 4:59Speaker 5: Kennedy Center. He ran it in the ground now, and
- 5:01Speaker 5: he's a happy camper. Now, on top of that, the
- 5:06Speaker 5: only time that Trump's ever won hands down on a
- 5:09Speaker 5: vote was he went to two court cases and lost.
- 5:13Speaker 5: One was for the sexual stuff he did with that woman.
- 5:17Speaker 5: The second one was in New York for moving his
- 5:19Speaker 5: property values around. Hands down, he got voted out on that.
- 5:24Speaker 5: But if you take a look at this other part,
- 5:28Speaker 5: all of our representatives, I don't hardly ever remember hearing
- 5:33Speaker 5: them publicly say, what are we going to do with
- 5:36Speaker 5: the Epstein files? Then they haven't really pushed the fact
- 5:41Speaker 5: that he has put this war on with Iran. And again,
- 5:46Speaker 5: history has shown that This recently, that our food produce
- 5:55Speaker 5: and everything else that we like to buy went up
- 5:59Speaker 5: ever since he slapped the tariffs on. So you take
- 6:03Speaker 5: people like, now, I don't know these people personally. I
- 6:08Speaker 5: can only judge by what I've heard and seen on TV. Rooley, Houston,
- 6:15Speaker 5: and Marino. None of them ever said too much about that.
- 6:19Speaker 5: And that's a slap in the face against them and
- 6:24Speaker 5: against Trump. But they allowed Trump to do what they're doing.
- 6:28Speaker 5: And I can't help that, but that's the truth. The
- 6:31Speaker 5: only person that I've ever seen so far is our
- 6:34Speaker 5: governor saying that these people in Springfield, I think it was,
- 6:38Speaker 5: weren't eating the geese, the cats, the dogs, and stuff
- 6:45Speaker 5: like that. But you see, that's my point. But another
- 6:50Speaker 5: one is, nobody has shown me anything, and regardless, and
- 6:55Speaker 5: I've looked it up and looked it up, any project
- 7:00Speaker 5: that he decided he was going to go, from the hotel, motels,
- 7:03Speaker 5: his wine, his steaks, his watch, his phone, that he
- 7:09Speaker 5: didn't lose it in the end. And when you go
- 7:14Speaker 5: and settle in court for... and declare partial bankruptcy, he
- 7:21Speaker 5: gets to deduct that for a loss in his income
- 7:24Speaker 5: taxes that year. And what's ever left, he gets to
- 7:27Speaker 5: deduct it next year. So now he hardly pays any
- 7:30Speaker 5: income tax at all. That's all.
- 7:36Speaker 2: That's it?
- 7:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I know. But I got it off my chest.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Well, listen, as a Trump supporter... And it's a guy
- 7:47Speaker 3: that voted for him. And even though I can be
- 7:51Speaker 3: critical of him with this war situation, and I was
- 7:55Speaker 3: critical of him with the Epstein files, I will say
- 7:59Speaker 3: this to you once again.
- 8:00Speaker 2: I'm glad he's president and Kamala Harris isn't. So even
- 8:05Speaker 2: with his negatives, he's done a lot of positives for
- 8:10Speaker 2: the country.
- 8:12Speaker 5: Like what, sir?
- 8:13Speaker 2: I'll start by saying closing the border. Millions of people
- 8:17Speaker 2: coming in.
- 8:17Speaker 5: You and I both agree Kamala Harris wasn't exactly my.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Well, wait a minute.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I mean, she was the border czar. Here's my problem
- 8:26Speaker 3: when you talk. Kamala Harris lied to you about one
- 8:28Speaker 3: of the most important things, the competence of Joe Biden.
- 8:32Speaker 3: Joe Biden wasn't even running a country. We don't know
- 8:34Speaker 3: who was. They were telling you he was sharp as
- 8:36Speaker 3: a tack, and he wasn't. I mean, I don't know
- 8:38Speaker 3: that you can come up with a bigger lie than that,
- 8:41Speaker 3: other than the border is secure. With that nonsense, well,
- 8:46Speaker 3: when Trump took office, he secured the border pretty rapidly.
- 8:49Speaker 2: And what has that done?
- 8:50Speaker 3: Well, it's a lot of people are alive because it's
- 8:52Speaker 3: had a big effect on fentanyl coming into the country.
- 8:55Speaker 3: I mean, he's dramatically changed human trafficking and human trafficking
- 9:02Speaker 3: of children. He's dramatically changed the drugs that are coming
- 9:06Speaker 3: into this country. Remember with blowing up those boats that
- 9:10Speaker 3: were bringing it in? And that means people and that
- 9:13Speaker 3: means this country's better off as a result of just
- 9:15Speaker 3: those issues. Human trafficking, the drugs and his energy policy,
- 9:20Speaker 3: though things are things are up now because of the
- 9:23Speaker 3: war situation. And I will always say it again. I'm
- 9:25Speaker 3: critical of it, but I always got to give this comment.
- 9:28Speaker 3: And you must admit you have to, too. I don't
- 9:31Speaker 3: know everything these guys know. I can give you an
- 9:34Speaker 3: opinion and my thoughts about it, but they got a
- 9:37Speaker 3: lot more information that I don't have, and they're not
- 9:40Speaker 3: going to share it with me anytime soon. I don't
- 9:42Speaker 3: care who the president is. I mean, they're looking at
- 9:45Speaker 3: stuff you have no idea what they know. So there
- 9:50Speaker 3: might be a reason why he did this and jeopardized
- 9:53Speaker 3: the midterms and jeopardized a lot of his image because
- 9:58Speaker 3: it was more of a threat to the country than.
- 10:00Speaker 2: we're aware of. I give him that. Let me just
- 10:02Speaker 2: put it that way.
- 10:03Speaker 10: Okay.
- 10:04Speaker 5: I can go along with you on that.
- 10:07Speaker 11: Right.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Except for the energy part.
- 10:09Speaker 2: Okay. But when it comes to.
- 10:16Speaker 5: And he come in, those people collected their money from
- 10:19Speaker 5: the federal government, my money. He come in and took
- 10:23Speaker 5: my money and bought them out so that they wouldn't
- 10:25Speaker 5: build them.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Well, quite frankly, the windmills and this other nonsense is
- 10:31Speaker 3: not going to do what you need it to do
- 10:34Speaker 3: for the energy demand that you are seeing with AI.
- 10:37Speaker 3: I mean, there's a reason why in China they're building
- 10:40Speaker 3: all these coal plants. It's affordable, reliable, electric. They'll buy
- 10:44Speaker 3: natural gas, coal, hydro. It's just a better system. Now,
- 10:50Speaker 3: that's not to say there isn't a place for windmills
- 10:53Speaker 3: and power. solar panels, but it depends where you want
- 10:57Speaker 3: to put them. And it takes up a lot of
- 10:58Speaker 3: space as well. And solar panels don't last forever. They
- 11:02Speaker 3: wear out as well. But when I talk about the
- 11:04Speaker 3: energy policy, the Democrats are against fossil fuels.
- 11:09Speaker 2: They say it. They make it clear.
- 11:12Speaker 3: They regulate it and make it difficult to drill offshore,
- 11:16Speaker 3: or if not just offshore, but also on federal lands. Well,
- 11:22Speaker 3: Trump reversed all of that. If you want lower oil prices,
- 11:25Speaker 3: you've got to do more drilling, not less drilling.
- 11:28Speaker 5: Well, you want more oil to be produced. Why are
- 11:33Speaker 5: these companies not building newer and better plants to produce it?
- 11:38Speaker 12: Why aren't they building a.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Base for diesel fuel? going over to Europe.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Right, you're talking about refineries. And that's a great question,
- 11:49Speaker 3: because there hasn't been a refinery built in this country
- 11:52Speaker 3: since the late 70s. Now, with that being said, existing
- 11:55Speaker 3: refineries have been added on to. They're usually owned by
- 12:00Speaker 3: private sector business. I think in many cases they're not
- 12:04Speaker 3: willing to make this monumental investment, which would take years
- 12:07Speaker 3: to build, because you have so many people in the
- 12:11Speaker 3: government that are saying, well, we're going to do away
- 12:13Speaker 3: with fossil fuels.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Well, would you want to make.
- 12:15Speaker 3: A huge investment with people in government saying we're going
- 12:18Speaker 3: to get rid of fossil fuels? Well, now what am
- 12:20Speaker 3: I going to do with my refinery? I personally believe,
- 12:24Speaker 3: and I don't believe much in public-private– what do you say, arrangements.
- 12:30Speaker 3: But I think we should start building refineries around the
- 12:34Speaker 3: clock in the United States. We should certainly start building
- 12:38Speaker 3: some one or two major refineries around the clock, 24
- 12:41Speaker 3: hours a day, seven days a week, funded by a
- 12:45Speaker 3: public-private partnership. And that does mean you're going to have
- 12:48Speaker 3: to have some government money come in to get the
- 12:50Speaker 3: ball rolling on it. I would support it 100% because
- 12:54Speaker 3: we have a refining problem. We don't have an oil issue.
- 12:58Speaker 3: When we talk about oil, you don't put oil in
- 13:00Speaker 3: your car. You don't put oil into your truck. So
- 13:03Speaker 3: you need refining capabilities to make it useful. And I'm
- 13:08Speaker 3: just saying, I don't see any Democrat or Republican or
- 13:11Speaker 3: people in Congress championing that. And I think that's a
- 13:14Speaker 3: big problem. You know the only country that has excess
- 13:17Speaker 3: refining capabilities?
- 13:19Speaker 2: China.
- 13:20Speaker 3: They have a 30% buffer zone. You know what we
- 13:25Speaker 3: have around here? We don't have one at all. We're
- 13:29Speaker 3: at 98%, 99% capacity with our refineries in China.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Isn't that amazing? China's beating us again.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Yeah, but once again.
- 13:36Speaker 5: Not only in the oil refinery business, but they're putting up.
- 13:42Speaker 3: But keep in mind when you say that, when they're
- 13:45Speaker 3: beating us, they're building a lot of coal plants, too.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Don't forget that.
- 13:49Speaker 3: China's getting a lot of coal from the United States,
- 13:53Speaker 3: and China's building a lot of coal plants. A lot
- 13:55Speaker 3: of times when we shut down our coal plants, guess
- 13:57Speaker 3: where all that equipment goes? Guess who buys it?
- 14:00Speaker 13: China.
- 14:01Speaker 2: They're building coal plants. So what does that tell you?
- 14:05Speaker 3: I don't know how many windmills they're putting up or
- 14:09Speaker 3: whatever their solar panels are putting up, but I know
- 14:11Speaker 3: they're building a hell of a lot of coal.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Plants in China.
- 14:14Speaker 5: That's something I tried to find out. And that was
- 14:18Speaker 5: the bad part about it is, to discuss this, I
- 14:22Speaker 5: haven't found anything either way, whether they're not or they are.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Well, you continue to do your research.
- 14:30Speaker 3: I think it was an alarming amount that they were
- 14:33Speaker 3: building very, very, very quickly.
- 14:36Speaker 2: So keep it in mind. Well, I appreciate your comments.
- 14:42Speaker 3: If you think the Democrats are pro-energy, Biden made it
- 14:45Speaker 3: clear he's against fossil fuels. Obama made it clear. Clinton
- 14:50Speaker 3: made it clear. The Democrats believe in the Green New Deal.
- 14:53Speaker 3: They would like to see your gasoline priced even higher
- 14:56Speaker 3: to force you to buy an electric vehicle. They don't
- 14:59Speaker 3: want you to have fossil fuels because they think you're
- 15:02Speaker 3: destroying a world with climate change as a result of
- 15:04Speaker 3: fossil fuels. Hell, don't you remember they wanted you to
- 15:07Speaker 3: have an electric stove? They didn't even want you to
- 15:08Speaker 3: have a natural gas stove, for God's sakes.
- 15:11Speaker 5: Oh, no, wait a minute, wait a minute. That was
- 15:13Speaker 5: a little bit of a hiccup there, and it was
- 15:15Speaker 5: never fully explained. He wanted the new buildings of buildings,
- 15:20Speaker 5: anything above the fifth floor to be electric, so if
- 15:23Speaker 5: a fire came about, these firemen didn't have to be
- 15:27Speaker 5: running up on these big ladders and stuff trying to
- 15:29Speaker 5: put out a fuel fire.
- 15:31Speaker 2: No, they wanted to get rid of it. Not for that.
- 15:35Speaker 2: They wanted to force you to have an electric stove. Period.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I mean, they wanted any building built to be all electric.
- 15:44Speaker 3: I mean, at a time. Now, imagine if they would
- 15:45Speaker 3: have done that and we got the demand for electricity
- 15:48Speaker 3: now with AI.
- 15:50Speaker 2: It makes no sense. All right, Tiger.
- 15:52Speaker 3: I appreciate your insight. I always enjoy talking to you.
- 15:55Speaker 3: I appreciate your time.
- 15:56Speaker 5: I enjoy talking to you, too, sir. Thank you.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Thank you. It's always a likable guy. You're on the air.
- 16:01Speaker 14: Speaking of electric energy and fiber optic lines, data centers
- 16:06Speaker 14: run on a lot of fiber optic lines, and that
- 16:09Speaker 14: takes electricity to run that light through those fine hairs.
- 16:13Speaker 14: And we just had fiber optic come in to Rock Creek.
- 16:17Speaker 14: They deleted the copper lines, but you can transfer your
- 16:22Speaker 14: in-lines in-house. and splice them to hook up the one
- 16:27Speaker 14: jack with the modem that the fiber optic line comes in.
- 16:31Speaker 14: But you've got to learn how to splice fine cable
- 16:36Speaker 14: copper wire inside, but it's no problem. You know those
- 16:40Speaker 14: electric splitters or strippers that you have to strip electrical wire?
- 16:47Speaker 14: Right down in the end by the handle is a
- 16:49Speaker 14: flat plate.
- 16:53Speaker 2: Stand by for a minute. I'll see if he makes
- 16:54Speaker 2: any more sense after this. I hate to say it,
- 17:03Speaker 2: but I don't trust much of anything.
- 17:05Speaker 15: It's the rage bait.
- 17:09Speaker 16: It feels like it's trying to divide people.
- 17:13Speaker 2: We got clear facts. Maybe we can calm down a little.
- 17:17Speaker 10: NBC News brings you clear reporting. Let's meet at the facts.
- 17:23Speaker 10: Let's move forward from there. NBC News, reporting for America.
- 17:28Speaker 2: 570 WKBN. All right, try to make a cohesive, a
- 17:34Speaker 2: coherent point.
- 17:35Speaker 17: Right.
- 17:36Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 17:36Speaker 14: The fiber optic line comes in your house to a modem,
- 17:39Speaker 14: they call it, and you have to put it next
- 17:42Speaker 14: to a 110 outlet because you have to provide the
- 17:46Speaker 14: electric to run that fiber optic line in your house.
- 17:50Speaker 14: In the old days... The station down the street ran
- 17:55Speaker 14: the power to our phones, and when the lights went out,
- 17:59Speaker 14: we still had phones. Now when the lights go out,
- 18:02Speaker 14: I won't have a phone, but that's okay. Everybody's got
- 18:04Speaker 14: cell phones now. That's no big deal. And the sound
- 18:07Speaker 14: quality of a fiber optic phone line is more improved.
- 18:14Speaker 14: I think it's something.
- 18:16Speaker 3: We have to accept. First of all, there's a couple
- 18:18Speaker 3: of things. If you have your phone, it's provided to
- 18:22Speaker 3: you through your cable company, whether it's Armstrong or Spectrum
- 18:24Speaker 3: or whatever you have. You still get a dial tone.
- 18:28Speaker 3: You still have a house phone, and I know a
- 18:30Speaker 3: lot of people don't have them. I recommend that you
- 18:32Speaker 3: do have them because cell phones... often can fail when
- 18:36Speaker 3: you need it most. But needless to say, there's generators
- 18:41Speaker 3: and battery backup on a lot of those internet phone lines.
- 18:44Speaker 3: So if the internet is down, the phone still functions
- 18:47Speaker 3: and works because of 911.
- 18:50Speaker 2: So that's the reality.
- 18:52Speaker 14: But I don't have a computer. All I want are
- 18:54Speaker 14: the phone lines.
- 18:55Speaker 2: You don't need a computer.
- 18:56Speaker 14: If you just want a phone line, you can still
- 18:58Speaker 14: do it.
- 18:58Speaker 2: Do you have cable TV?
- 18:59Speaker 14: And you only have one jack to plug into the
- 19:02Speaker 14: modem that's copper. And you have to splice. I've got
- 19:04Speaker 14: five phones.
- 19:05Speaker 2: All right.
- 19:06Speaker 14: And so I've got to splice five lines into that
- 19:09Speaker 14: little jack.
- 19:10Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 19:10Speaker 14: And plug in.
- 19:11Speaker 2: But it works.
- 19:12Speaker 14: And it's a great sound. You sound great today.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Thank you. See you later.
- 19:15Speaker 3: Goodbye.
- 19:15Speaker 2: You're on air. Hello. You've got to pay attention.
- 19:24Speaker 19: Hello?
- 19:24Speaker 5: Yeah. Hi, Ron.
- 19:27Speaker 7: Go ahead.
- 19:28Speaker 20: Your fertile mind missed a few Trump accomplishments, and it'd
- 19:33Speaker 20: be great if you had a list of those in
- 19:34Speaker 20: front of you. You rarely miss those. How about the
- 19:37Speaker 20: trade deficit and how that's evened out? We're getting charged 50%,
- 19:42Speaker 20: and we're only charging them 10%. He's went with the reciprocals,
- 19:47Speaker 20: bringing in billions of dollars. How about the fraud? How
- 19:51Speaker 20: many fraud cases do you remember under four years of
- 19:54Speaker 20: Biden and the Democrats where we're reading about on the headlines,
- 19:57Speaker 20: you know, front.
- 19:58Speaker 2: Page, zero.
- 20:01Speaker 20: The fraud was never being uncovered by the Dems. And
- 20:05Speaker 20: as some of the Newsmax and Fox folks are starting
- 20:08Speaker 20: to say, Democrats keep talking about affordability. That word never
- 20:13Speaker 20: arose under four years under Biden.
- 20:15Speaker 14: Why?
- 20:16Speaker 20: But what's their answer? What's their plan? And as I've
- 20:19Speaker 20: mentioned to you before, what's their plan to reduce our
- 20:21Speaker 20: $ 40 trillion in debt and balance our federal budget? You
- 20:25Speaker 20: never hear a plan. Why would anybody turn it back
- 20:29Speaker 20: over to Democrats when it was much worse? And how
- 20:31Speaker 20: about Maduro getting eliminated out of Venezuela? Nobody's talking about
- 20:35Speaker 20: how great that was and how much better off that
- 20:38Speaker 20: country is. And the list goes. And you mentioned the fentanyl,
- 20:42Speaker 20: the drugs, the border and the cost to get all
- 20:45Speaker 20: those 10 million plus back out of the country. And
- 20:48Speaker 20: this was all planned by the Democrats, these illegals. No
- 20:51Speaker 20: question about it. And then they would whine, oh, look
- 20:54Speaker 20: at the cost. Just let them stay and eventually vote.
- 20:57Speaker 20: And it goes on and on and on.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely.
- 21:02Speaker 3: And once again, and I got to say it, I
- 21:05Speaker 3: don't know everything Trump knows and Rubio and these guys
- 21:08Speaker 3: know about what's going on in Iran. And you don't know.
- 21:12Speaker 3: This thing could end up changing the region forever. There's
- 21:18Speaker 3: always a possibility it could end up a win for Trump, too.
- 21:21Speaker 3: It's just taking time. Just as a lot of people say,
- 21:24Speaker 3: throw the towel in and end now. Well, maybe that's
- 21:27Speaker 3: ending too soon. Maybe it will be something that will
- 21:30Speaker 3: make a big difference. You just don't know. You don't
- 21:33Speaker 3: know what they know.
- 21:34Speaker 20: And notice they keep saying forever war. It's been less
- 21:37Speaker 20: than a year, but it's now a forever war. That's
- 21:39Speaker 20: crazy to make that statement. And it's not really a war.
- 21:42Speaker 5: It's a conflict.
- 21:43Speaker 20: I mean, we're not bombing them every day.
- 21:45Speaker 2: It's a war.
- 21:46Speaker 3: I mean, there's a war going on because you've got
- 21:49Speaker 3: your military involved in it. But the reality is, I
- 21:55Speaker 3: don't think Iran's in great shape in many ways. They're
- 21:58Speaker 3: losing a ton of money economically. And so they could...
- 22:03Speaker 3: They could give in.
- 22:04Speaker 2: And buckle, too. Exactly. That's absolutely right.
- 22:07Speaker 20: The benefits under Trump far, far, far outweigh the negatives.
- 22:12Speaker 20: We're so much safer. Oh, and your previous caller, two
- 22:16Speaker 20: callers ago, he mentioned my tax dollars and Trump stopped
- 22:19Speaker 20: the wind farm. Well, that's the problem. We're $ 40 trillion
- 22:22Speaker 20: in debt. We shouldn't be giving a dime for any
- 22:25Speaker 20: solar or wind or any of that stuff. We are broke.
- 22:29Speaker 20: So we shouldn't have subsidized it in the first place.
- 22:31Speaker 20: And so he actually called himself out by making that statement.
- 22:35Speaker 20: They had to be subsidized to compete with fossil fuels.
- 22:37Speaker 2: I appreciate your call.
- 22:38Speaker 20: We shouldn't be subsidizing anybody.
- 22:40Speaker 5: Thanks, Ron.
- 22:40Speaker 2: Thanks, Ron. Ferb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. Guardians pregame
- 22:44Speaker 2: should be coming up momentarily.
- 22:45Speaker 13: Have you heard the news?
- 22:47Speaker 2: A promise. If Republicans win the House and Senate in November.
- 22:50Speaker 21: I will issue a dividend to every adult citizen in
- 22:54Speaker 21: the United States of America.
- 22:56Speaker 2: Five thousand dollars. Go woke, go broke. Believe in something.
- 23:00Speaker 2: That's Colin Kaepernick in a Nike ad.
- 23:02Speaker 15: Even if it means sacrificing everything.
- 23:04Speaker 22: Well, Nike sacrificed 78% of their value.
- 23:07Speaker 15: I want to be remembered.
- 23:08Speaker 2: A year ago, we lost Charlie Kirk for courage for
- 23:10Speaker 2: my faith. Check in often.

- 23:51Speaker 23: 4 and 12, and there were no adults at the

- 25:34Speaker 12: This is Game 3 of the American League Division Series.
- 25:38Speaker 12: Jim Rosenhouse, along with you, about a half hour prior
- 25:40Speaker 12: to today's first pitch. Great baseball day in the Windy City,
- 25:44Speaker 12: and for the Guardians... It is win or go home
- 25:48Speaker 12: as they drop the first two games of this best-of-five
- 25:51Speaker 12: in Cleveland, including on Monday night, 4-3 to the White Sox. So, today,
- 25:56Speaker 12: a must-win situation for Cleveland as they take on Chicago
- 26:01Speaker 12: in Game 3 of the series.
- 26:03Speaker 2: Stay tuned. More to come after this.
- 26:07Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKBN, Youngstown.
- 26:15Speaker 26: We'll be right back.
- 26:35Speaker 18: Thank you for watching. Thank you for watching. Thank you.
- 28:11Speaker 12: Welcome back to the Beth 365 Guardians warm-up show. Guardians
- 28:15Speaker 12: and White Sox getting ready for game three of this series.
- 28:19Speaker 12: For the Guardians, their 19th total postseason appearance in franchise history.
- 28:24Speaker 12: Sandy Alomar has been a part of 14 of those,
- 28:28Speaker 12: and the Guardians' first base coach will join us next.
- 28:31Speaker 17: Here's the Bet365 Minute, where winning is everything, with Scott Davidson.
- 28:35Speaker 27: Let's take a look at the numbers today. The Guardians
- 28:38Speaker 27: in Chicago for Game 3 must win. The White Sox
- 28:40Speaker 27: are the favorite. They're minus 120, and the total is 8.
- 28:43Speaker 27: And I'm off to Atlanta for my play of the day.
- 28:45Speaker 27: I'm going to use the Braves, but we'll take them
- 28:47Speaker 27: on the run line today, plus 1.5 over the Dodgers. Now,
- 28:50Speaker 27: all the games in this series have been tight, and
- 28:52Speaker 27: the Braves have been outstanding at home. They're 52-29 at
- 28:56Speaker 27: Truist Park during the regular season. and it's a battle
- 28:58Speaker 27: of the Tylers on the mound today, and I like
- 29:01Speaker 27: Tyler Malley better. He's been outstanding with his new team,
- 29:04Speaker 27: a 1.99 ERA. Tyler Glasnow, he ended the regular season
- 29:08Speaker 27: with a less than stellar 5.24 in September. I'm going
- 29:12Speaker 27: to go with the Braves, plus one and a half,
- 29:13Speaker 27: my play of the day. Now you can download the
- 29:16Speaker 27: Bet365 app. Remember, you bet $ 10, you get $ 200 in

- 29:35Speaker 12: Welcome back to Guardians Warm Up. Guardians and White Sox
- 29:38Speaker 12: game three of this American League division.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Series.
- 29:40Speaker 12: We're joined by Sandy Alomar, longtime Guardians first base coach.
- 29:44Speaker 2: Sandy, we were talking the other day.
- 29:47Speaker 12: This team's been to the postseason 19 times in their
- 29:49Speaker 12: franchise history. You've been a part of 14 of those.
- 29:53Speaker 12: I know it's been brought up a couple of times
- 29:54Speaker 12: since this series began. When you think about that, try
- 29:58Speaker 12: and think back to how fortunate you've been to be
- 30:00Speaker 12: around so many winning teams here.
- 30:01Speaker 18: 100%.
- 30:02Speaker 13: Very fortunate.
- 30:05Speaker 28: I'm very grateful of the opportunity that I've gotten here.
- 30:08Speaker 28: I played for a few other organizations and coached for
- 30:12Speaker 28: another one prior to here, and the only team that
- 30:15Speaker 28: I've been in the postseason with is the Indians or
- 30:18Speaker 28: the Guardians. Never had the chance to go to a
- 30:22Speaker 28: postseason with another team. 2006, I was with the Dodgers,
- 30:26Speaker 28: and I got traded back to the White Sox. Midseason
- 30:29Speaker 28: that year, the Dodgers went to the playoff. That guy
- 30:32Speaker 28: eliminated in the first round.
- 30:33Speaker 12: 14 different postseason appearances, and you've been in spots where
- 30:37Speaker 12: the team's been behind in a series, a short series.
- 30:40Speaker 12: What's the key for this team to come out and
- 30:42Speaker 12: try and extend the series?
- 30:44Speaker 28: You have to have quality at bats, and this year
- 30:47Speaker 28: it seems like we've been playing a little better on
- 30:49Speaker 28: the road. I think you have to control your emotions
- 30:52Speaker 28: when you're playing postseason. I think that at times the
- 30:57Speaker 28: crowd can get to you, the anxiety can get you,
- 31:00Speaker 28: you need to just step back and Take a breath,
- 31:02Speaker 28: and you don't have to do nothing extraordinary per at-batch.
- 31:05Speaker 28: You just have to do the necessary to make a
- 31:09Speaker 28: collective effort by the team. When you try to take
- 31:13Speaker 28: matter under your own hands, it can affect your at-batch.
- 31:17Speaker 28: The main thing is, like a good example yesterday with Lowe,
- 31:21Speaker 28: he just put the ball in play, hit the chopper,
- 31:22Speaker 28: and we scored two runs. So those are the kind
- 31:25Speaker 28: of at-bats you have to have in order to go
- 31:27Speaker 28: through their bullpen and get the start a little earlier.
- 31:31Speaker 2: You know, minimize walks and field the ball.
- 31:35Speaker 15: Errors are huge.
- 31:36Speaker 28: You try to focus the play at a time. But
- 31:39Speaker 28: at the end of the day, it's a sprint.
- 31:40Speaker 2: It's not a season.
- 31:43Speaker 28: At least in a regular season, you have to have quality.
- 31:47Speaker 28: Efficiency gives you value. And the postseason, its impact will
- 31:52Speaker 28: give you value. So you have to impact at-bats.
- 31:55Speaker 12: Most of your career spent with Cleveland, but there was
- 31:58Speaker 12: some time as a player... with the White Sox. You've
- 32:00Speaker 12: been here when there have been some raucous crowds. What
- 32:02Speaker 12: do you expect, uh, that these teams will see here at,
- 32:05Speaker 12: at this ballpark?
- 32:06Speaker 28: Yeah, these fans are a little wild. They like, I
- 32:08Speaker 28: play here, uh, four years. And, uh, they, they, when
- 32:12Speaker 28: the teams are in, in, in a hunt, they are
- 32:15Speaker 28: a little, it's very loud, very, very outspoken here. So
- 32:20Speaker 28: I think we've done that in the past, play here
- 32:22Speaker 28: in this, this kind of environment when they hit those
- 32:27Speaker 28: home runs.
- 32:28Speaker 2: And, uh, He wanted the smoke. Do you remember that?
- 32:30Speaker 2: I mean, it wasn't a regular season, but the fans
- 32:32Speaker 2: were into it.
- 32:33Speaker 15: He did want the smoke. Yeah.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Now we've got to.
- 32:37Speaker 15: Get the smoke.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Sandy, thanks so much for coming by.
- 32:41Speaker 21: All right.
- 32:41Speaker 2: Thank you so much, Rusty. That's Sandy Alomar. How about that?
- 32:44Speaker 12: 14 postseason appearances of the 19 in franchise history.
- 32:47Speaker 2: Just amazing. Stay tuned.
- 32:49Speaker 12: More to come after this.

- 33:04Speaker 6: Do we protect these pants that zip off and become shorts? Yeah!
- 33:08Speaker 13: Are we generally.
- 33:09Speaker 6: Okay with things that do two things at once but
- 33:11Speaker 6: neither particularly well?
- 33:12Speaker 10: No!

- 34:57Speaker 12: Welcome back to the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show. Guardians and
- 35:01Speaker 12: the White Sox game three of the American League Division Series.
- 35:04Speaker 12: Guardians trailing two games to none, dropping the first two
- 35:08Speaker 12: at home. Last time, a team dropped the first two
- 35:11Speaker 12: at home and came back to win a best-of-five series,
- 35:15Speaker 12: the 2015 American League Division Series. The Blue Jays did
- 35:18Speaker 12: it against the Texas Rangers. Can the Guardians do it? Well,
- 35:22Speaker 12: they have to win game three first, and Tom Hamilton
- 35:24Speaker 12: will talk about that with manager Steven Vogt. The Key
- 35:27Speaker 12: Bank Managers show next.
- 35:31Speaker 32: I'm Laura McNally, and I'm running for county commissioner because

- 35:51Speaker 32: we deserve. Thoughtful leadership, real accountability, a stronger community for
- 35:55Speaker 32: all of us. Proudly paid for by Laura McNally for Ohio.
- 36:05Speaker 7: Hi again, everybody, with Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt, this is
- 36:08Speaker 7: Tom Hamilton.
- 36:09Speaker 15: Welcome to the Manager's Show.
- 36:11Speaker 2: It's brought to you by KeyBank.
- 36:12Speaker 12: We're in the beautiful city of Chicago, a gorgeous sunny day.
- 36:16Speaker 12: An afternoon affair, game three of the American League Division Series.
- 36:20Speaker 12: We all know what's at stake. You win or you
- 36:23Speaker 12: go home, but voter, you've been here before. How much
- 36:26Speaker 12: does that help you as a manager, having been in
- 36:29Speaker 12: this situation before?
- 36:30Speaker 33: It helps me a lot, and it helps the guys.
- 36:32Speaker 33: I mean, you walk into the clubhouse today, they're ready
- 36:34Speaker 33: to go. There's no panic. There's no we-have-tos. Everybody knows
- 36:37Speaker 33: what's at stake. We've got to win today.
- 36:39Speaker 2: We know that.
- 36:39Speaker 15: Now, this is the first must-win of the season, Hammy.
- 36:41Speaker 33: I know everybody's been talking about it. But I really
- 36:44Speaker 33: feel we had a good day at work yesterday. The
- 36:46Speaker 33: guys are ready to go. We're rested, and it's going
- 36:48Speaker 33: to be.
- 36:48Speaker 15: A good one. Voter, what have you learned or learned?
- 36:52Speaker 7: Is everything different from in the past when you were
- 36:55Speaker 7: in these situations? Do you go back and take any
- 36:58Speaker 7: experiences out of those opportunities?
- 37:02Speaker 33: I think it's just more of, hey, we've been here.
- 37:03Speaker 33: We know what's at stake. You know, we were here
- 37:05Speaker 33: two years ago. You know, we were facing an elimination
- 37:07Speaker 33: game in Game 4 in Detroit, and the guys stepped up.
- 37:10Speaker 33: So this group has been through this. We've got some guys, obviously,
- 37:13Speaker 33: that haven't. But, you know, I'm hearing conversations of, hey,
- 37:16Speaker 33: just go play. Just go play. Let's just see what happens. And,
- 37:19Speaker 33: you know, we haven't played our best baseball the first
- 37:20Speaker 33: two games, so I know that's coming.
- 37:23Speaker 2: Voter, how do you manage patience with urgency?
- 37:28Speaker 33: I think it's just trusting the people. I think so
- 37:31Speaker 33: much is made of analytics. So much is made of numbers.
- 37:34Speaker 33: This is a people game and we got to trust
- 37:36Speaker 33: the people. We know who these guys are. We know
- 37:37Speaker 33: what they're capable of and we're going to put them
- 37:39Speaker 33: in positions to be successful. And Um, that's really all
- 37:42Speaker 33: it is.
- 37:43Speaker 15: It's go out there. We're going to be patient. We
- 37:45Speaker 15: have to be patient with these guys. This is who
- 37:46Speaker 15: we have. This is our team. And man, do we
- 37:48Speaker 15: have a good team?
- 37:49Speaker 33: And I really, truly believe, uh, we're going to go
- 37:51Speaker 33: out and give a, give us a good ball game today.
- 37:53Speaker 12: When it comes to the pitching, do you have to
- 37:55Speaker 12: be careful not to go too soon? Yet then there's
- 37:58Speaker 12: that fine line, hey, I don't want to go a
- 38:01Speaker 12: batter too late.
- 38:02Speaker 33: I think it's feel. It's understanding what the game's calling
- 38:05Speaker 33: for you. Again, we know this team. We know our pitchers.
- 38:08Speaker 33: We know their hitters. We know the matchups we want
- 38:10Speaker 33: to avoid. We know the matchups that we can't avoid.
- 38:13Speaker 33: so it's just putting our guys into position to succeed,
- 38:16Speaker 33: and with Daniel taking the ball, we're hoping that he
- 38:18Speaker 33: gives us as many outs as he can, but that
- 38:20Speaker 33: might be quick.
- 38:21Speaker 15: We don't know.
- 38:21Speaker 33: The game is going to tell us how to roll
- 38:23Speaker 33: this game out. We have a game plan, but the
- 38:26Speaker 33: game plan always, you have to watch the game. You
- 38:28Speaker 33: have to understand what's going on, and yeah, there's always
- 38:31Speaker 33: these decisions you have to make on the margins, and
- 38:33Speaker 33: when they work, you're smart, and when they don't, you're dumb,
- 38:35Speaker 33: and you live with that.
- 38:37Speaker 12: Well, you just answered my next question, so I'll follow
- 38:40Speaker 12: that up with We know all hands are on deck.
- 38:43Speaker 12: Does that include Parker Messick and Gavin Williams?
- 38:46Speaker 15: No, not today.
- 38:48Speaker 33: Parker just threw two days ago, and we have to
- 38:51Speaker 33: win three games. And so today, neither one of them
- 38:53Speaker 33: will play into the equation. For tomorrow, once we get there,
- 38:56Speaker 33: we'll see. But neither one of them will play a
- 38:59Speaker 33: role in today's game.
- 39:00Speaker 12: Voter, and this isn't to be Pollyanna, but you can
- 39:04Speaker 12: look at this series. It could be 2-0 Cleveland if
- 39:07Speaker 12: you just had a big hit early in one of
- 39:09Speaker 12: the games. But also, you can almost say that about
- 39:13Speaker 12: every division series if you look around baseball.
- 39:15Speaker 33: You can say that about every regular season game. You
- 39:18Speaker 33: can say that about Little League games. You can say
- 39:20Speaker 33: that about American Legion. That's why baseball is so beautiful.
- 39:23Speaker 33: It's your one hit away, your one pitch away, your
- 39:25Speaker 33: one you know, one cleat length away from a win
- 39:29Speaker 33: or a loss every night. And that's why it's so agonizing.
- 39:32Speaker 33: And that's why we love it. And, you know, I
- 39:35Speaker 33: do think we're in a good position. I love the
- 39:36Speaker 33: way our guys are attacking this. We haven't swung the
- 39:39Speaker 33: bats the way we want to the first two games,
- 39:41Speaker 33: but that can all change today.
- 39:43Speaker 12: Voter, when you look at the White Sox, they're 4-0
- 39:47Speaker 12: in the playoffs. You get a sense, though, they've never
- 39:50Speaker 12: been really uncomfortable, like where they're really staring defeat in
- 39:55Speaker 12: the face. Is that critical here early in this game
- 39:58Speaker 12: to kind of put them in an uncomfortable spot?
- 40:01Speaker 33: Yeah, I think you always want to score early when
- 40:02Speaker 33: you can get the other team down. It really helps. And,
- 40:06Speaker 33: you know, we did that the other day and just
- 40:08Speaker 33: weren't able to get anything going to add on. So,
- 40:10Speaker 33: you know, the goal, obviously, every game is to score early,
- 40:13Speaker 33: score often and keep adding on and keep them off
- 40:16Speaker 33: the board and We feel like we're in a position
- 40:18Speaker 33: to do that. And again, our backs are against the wall.
- 40:19Speaker 15: We know that. We know it's win or go home.
- 40:21Speaker 33: Our guys are giving everything they have every single day
- 40:24Speaker 33: this whole year. And we've got to go do it
- 40:26Speaker 33: one more time today, and then again tomorrow, and then
- 40:28Speaker 33: again on Saturday. But we can only control today.
- 40:30Speaker 12: That's Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt, Tom Hamilton, inviting you to
- 40:33Speaker 12: stay tuned. It's the first pitch of Game 3, and
- 40:36Speaker 12: it's next here on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.
- 40:39Speaker 9: For 50 years, Sherrod Brown voted how he was told.
- 40:43Speaker 9: 1975 to today, different presidents, different issues, but Sherrod Brown's
- 40:48Speaker 9: vote never changed. Higher taxes, Brown voted for them. Open borders,
- 40:54Speaker 9: Brown voted for them. Sex changes for kids, Sherrod Brown
- 40:58Speaker 9: supported that too. When Washington Democrats needed Brown's vote, he
- 41:03Speaker 9: gave it every time. Sherrod Brown voted with Biden 97%.
- 41:09Speaker 15: Schumer, 95.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Bernie Sanders, 92.
- 41:12Speaker 9: That was the Democrat Party he joined 50 years ago.
- 41:17Speaker 9: But times have changed. Now extremists are taking over. They're
- 41:21Speaker 9: not asking for your vote. They're coming for your country.
- 41:24Speaker 9: And Sherrod Brown will fall in line.
- 41:27Speaker 15: He always does.
- 41:28Speaker 2: Sharon Brown.
- 41:30Speaker 15: Times changed.
- 41:31Speaker 2: His vote never does.

- 41:44Speaker 12: It's the Bet365 Guardians warm-up show. Time for the pitching matchup.
- 41:48Speaker 12: Both teams going with openers today. Left-hander Sean Newcomb for
- 41:52Speaker 12: the White Sox pitched two scoreless innings in Game 2
- 41:56Speaker 12: on Monday night. He'll be opposed by right-hander Daniel Espino
- 41:59Speaker 12: for the Guardians. Two-thirds of an inning allowing just one
- 42:02Speaker 12: hit in Game 1 back in Cleveland. And expect both
- 42:06Speaker 12: teams to be going with all hands on deck tonight.
- 42:09Speaker 12: A must-win situation for the Guardians. That'll do it for
- 42:13Speaker 12: Guardians warm-up.

- 48:30Speaker 12: From the south side of Chicago, Illinois, it is game
- 48:35Speaker 12: three of the 2026 American League Division Series. Today it's
- 48:41Speaker 12: do or die as the Cleveland Guardians try to keep
- 48:44Speaker 12: their season alive in a must-win situation against the Chicago
- 48:50Speaker 12: White Sox. Sox on top, two games to none in
- 48:54Speaker 12: this best-of-five series. The winner moves on to the American
- 48:57Speaker 12: League Championship Series against either the Yankees or the Rays.
- 49:03Speaker 2: Hi again, everybody.
- 49:04Speaker 12: This is Tom Hamilton along with Jim Rosenhouse on a
- 49:08Speaker 12: gorgeous day on the shores of Lake Michigan. Not a
- 49:12Speaker 12: cloud in the sky, bathed in sunshine. Temperatures have been
- 49:17Speaker 12: in the 70s. We've got a light breeze. and we've
- 49:20Speaker 12: got a crowd frothing I mean, this place is up
- 49:25Speaker 12: for grabs. What an incredible atmosphere for this first playoff.
- 49:31Speaker 2: Game in Chicago.
- 49:33Speaker 12: Remember, they had to go to Houston to win the
- 49:36Speaker 12: wild card series.
- 49:37Speaker 2: They swept the Astros.
- 49:39Speaker 12: Then they moved on to Cleveland, and they were victorious
- 49:42Speaker 12: in games one and two by 3-0 and 4-3 scores.
- 49:47Speaker 12: So fans here in Chicago haven't seen their socks off.
- 49:51Speaker 12: since the regular season ended on that Sunday in September,
- 49:56Speaker 12: and they are in total full cheer mode here today.
- 50:02Speaker 12: This will be one of the great atmospheres that you
- 50:05Speaker 12: will witness anywhere in the country here in 2026. They've
- 50:10Speaker 12: been longing for it, and they are getting it. As always,
- 50:14Speaker 12: Brian Montse at the Command Center, Nick Hefner, our good
- 50:17Speaker 12: buddy here with us in the booth. The umpire's Todd Tishner,
- 50:21Speaker 12: he's the crew chief behind the plate, Jansen Visconti at first,
- 50:25Speaker 12: Vic Carapaz at second, Tom Hanahan at third, Corey Blazer
- 50:30Speaker 12: down the left field line, Gabe Morales down the right
- 50:33Speaker 12: field line. The dimensions, 330 down the left field line, 325,
- 50:38Speaker 12: I beg your pardon, 335 down the right field line,
- 50:42Speaker 12: 377 to left center, 372 to right center, 400 to
- 50:49Speaker 12: dead center. The White Sox have pulled out all of
- 50:52Speaker 12: the stops. This is called a blackout. Everybody decked in black.
- 51:03Speaker 12: waving their black towels. The only thing the White Sox
- 51:06Speaker 12: don't have here today, Pope Leo, he had other commitments.
- 51:12Speaker 12: It'll be Sean Newcomb on the hill to start for
- 51:15Speaker 12: the White Sox.
- 51:16Speaker 7: They'll do their all-bullpen game. Daniel Espino will start for Cleveland.
- 51:21Speaker 7: Similar situation for the Guardians. And, Rosie, we've been a
- 51:27Speaker 7: part of some great atmospheres. Man, I don't know how
- 51:30Speaker 7: you're going to top this one. They've been waiting a
- 51:33Speaker 7: long time.
- 51:34Speaker 12: Their team is one of the best stories in Major
- 51:36Speaker 12: League Baseball this season, and they finally come home, and
- 51:40Speaker 12: they can clinch a playoff series with a win today.
- 51:42Speaker 12: So everything is lining up for the Sox. The Guardians
- 51:46Speaker 12: are here to try and spoil the party. A win today.
- 51:48Speaker 12: The Sox move on to the American League Championship Series.
- 51:52Speaker 12: A win by Cleveland today. There's a game four that
- 51:56Speaker 12: would be played either late tomorrow afternoon or tomorrow night
- 52:01Speaker 12: pending the outcome of what is going on tonight at
- 52:05Speaker 12: Yankee Stadium with New York fighting for its life down
- 52:08Speaker 12: 2-0 as they're coming back home to take on Tampa Bay.
- 52:13Speaker 12: All right, here's Sean Newcomb. We, of course, saw him
- 52:18Speaker 12: on Monday, and he's the guy the manager, Will Venable,
- 52:21Speaker 12: went to in the very first inning. He gave Anthony
- 52:24Speaker 12: Kaye three batters, and he got him out of there.
- 52:27Speaker 12: Newcomb went two scoreless innings, giving up a hit, struck
- 52:31Speaker 12: out three, walked one. Newcomb, fastball, sinker, cutter, curve, slider, change,
- 52:36Speaker 12: mid to upper 90s. The left-hander. 6'5, 255, 33 years
- 52:42Speaker 12: of age. Stephen Kwan, left-handed left fielder. Now today in
- 52:47Speaker 12: center leads off. And today's first pitch delivered outside ball one.
- 52:51Speaker 12: And we're underway in Chicago. 75 degrees. The game time temp,
- 53:00Speaker 12: it is absolutely perfect here in Illinois. The next pitch,
- 53:06Speaker 12: and it's up high. Ball two, 2-0. Shadows are going
- 53:10Speaker 12: to be a big factor here. This game starts with
- 53:13Speaker 12: a hitter in the shadows. They go about halfway to
- 53:16Speaker 12: the pitcher's mound, then sunlight. The 2-0 pitch. There's a
- 53:20Speaker 12: called strike. Will Cleveland have some familiarity having just seen Newcomb.
- 53:28Speaker 2: On Monday?
- 53:30Speaker 12: The kick and the 2-1. A swing and a tamper
- 53:34Speaker 12: to the mound. New comes up with it. Gloves throws.
- 53:37Speaker 2: One down.
- 53:38Speaker 12: And this continues the theme that has hampered Cleveland in
- 53:43Speaker 12: this postseason. Cleveland has had the leadoff man get aboard
- 53:50Speaker 12: in two of the now 19 innings that we have played.
- 53:55Speaker 12: So in 17 of the 19 innings, the leadoff batter
- 53:59Speaker 12: of that inning has been retired. Kwon retired on a
- 54:03Speaker 12: jam job to the mound. Breaking ball delivered high and wide.
- 54:07Speaker 12: Ball one to Jose Ramirez. Switch hitter batting right-handed. 0
- 54:12Speaker 12: for 6 in the series.
- 54:14Speaker 2: The kick and the pitch. And it's swung on. Rifle
- 54:17Speaker 2: to left field. Coming on. Diving catch by Gritchick.
- 54:26Speaker 12: That's as hard a ball as Jose Ramirez has hit.
- 54:30Speaker 12: And it seems like the few times Cleveland has scolded
- 54:34Speaker 12: a ball in this series, somebody for the White Sox
- 54:37Speaker 12: has either made a terrific play or it's been an
- 54:40Speaker 12: atom ball.
- 54:41Speaker 2: Two outs, nobody on, no score. Here's Chase DeLauder. The pitch.
- 54:46Speaker 2: Breaking ball down low.
- 54:48Speaker 9: Ball one.
- 54:49Speaker 12: Randall Gritchick in left. Kristen Peters in center. Braden Montgomery
- 54:53Speaker 12: in right. Give the guys on the dirt after this pitch.
- 54:57Speaker 12: Here it comes. Outside a breaking ball, 2-0. I'm going
- 55:02Speaker 12: to talk to Mirakami at first. Chase Mydroth at second.
- 55:05Speaker 12: Colson Montgomery at short. Miguel Vargas at third. Kyle Teal catching.
- 55:11Speaker 12: The pitch swung on a high chopper to first foul ball.
- 55:14Speaker 12: 2-1 to count on De Lauder.
- 55:17Speaker 2: 2-4-8 in the series.
- 55:23Speaker 12: Kwon and Ramirez for the Guardians have combined to go 1-4-15.
- 55:28Speaker 12: Cleveland's got to get something going early in the game
- 55:33Speaker 12: and in the early part of innings. The pitch, a
- 55:37Speaker 12: swing and a chopper to third. Vargas Gloves sets, throws,
- 55:41Speaker 12: got him. So another 1-2-3 inning for Sean Newcomb. We've
- 55:47Speaker 12: seen a lot of that. And the Guardians go quietly
- 55:51Speaker 12: and the White Sox are coming to bat.
- 55:54Speaker 2: Bybee into the motion. And the right-hander with the one-two delivery.
- 55:58Speaker 2: Swing and a miss!
- 56:00Speaker 7: Back foot slider ate him up. What a job by
- 56:04Speaker 7: Tanner Bybee.
- 56:05Speaker 13: This is Tanner Bybee.

- 57:41Speaker 3: i'm taking on the stories that actually matter after guardians
- 57:44Speaker 3: baseball on 570 wkbn.
- 57:49Speaker 12: Well cleveland taking a page out of the white socks
- 57:52Speaker 12: book they didn't start tanner by me today they're going
- 57:56Speaker 12: with a bullpen game all hands on deck The only
- 57:59Speaker 12: Guardians pitchers that are not going to pitch today, Gavin
- 58:04Speaker 12: Williams and Parker Messick.
- 58:06Speaker 2: Everybody else is available. Daniel Espino.
- 58:11Speaker 12: Well, you talk about a pressure spot season on the line,
- 58:14Speaker 12: and he will make his second ever postseason appearance. Worked
- 58:19Speaker 12: in game one on Saturday. Two-thirds of a scoreless inning
- 58:23Speaker 12: against Chicago. Espino, 6'2, 225, 25 years of age. Fastball, curveball, slider, changeup.
- 58:35Speaker 12: He'll throw upper 90s. Leading it off to DH, Sam Antonacci,
- 58:41Speaker 12: a left-handed batter.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Espino, the set, and his pitch. And it's down low,
- 58:47Speaker 2: ball one.
- 58:50Speaker 12: And already activity in the Cleveland bullpen, which is located
- 58:54Speaker 12: beyond the wall in right field. Now the set and
- 59:01Speaker 12: the pitch, and it's high 2-0. Foster Griffin is warming
- 59:08Speaker 12: in the Cleveland bullpen. You cannot let this game get
- 59:13Speaker 12: away early. Now the set and the 2-0 pitch. Inside, 3-0.
- 59:24Speaker 12: This is a huge gamble starting Daniel Espino. Who had
- 59:28Speaker 12: never pitched in a major league game until this season.
- 59:31Speaker 12: 14 appearances for Cleveland. ERA 4-11. Now the 3-0 pitch.
- 59:39Speaker 2: Bullseye.
- 59:40Speaker 12: Daniel Espino in the regular season in 15 innings.
- 59:45Speaker 2: Struck out 25. Watched 7.
- 59:50Speaker 12: Antonacci 0-5 in the series, batting 277-8 homers, 48 RBIs
- 59:57Speaker 12: on the year. Now the 3-1 pitch. Checked and takes
- 1:00:04Speaker 12: ball four time. Conversely, where Cleveland seemingly never gets the
- 1:00:14Speaker 12: leadoff man aboard to start an inning, the White Sox
- 1:00:17Speaker 12: have had no such issues. Third baseman, Miguel Vargas, elevated
- 1:00:22Speaker 12: to the two-hole. They might as well take the seats
- 1:00:28Speaker 12: out of this ballpark. No one's using them today. Right-hander
- 1:00:32Speaker 12: against right-hander. The pitch, and it sails high.
- 1:00:38Speaker 37: Wow.
- 1:00:39Speaker 12: Out to the mound is the catcher, Patrick Bailey, and
- 1:00:42Speaker 12: listen to this place.
- 1:00:52Speaker 2: Well, it happened a long time ago.
- 1:00:58Speaker 12: But just maybe we're starting to feel like it felt
- 1:01:03Speaker 12: for Christians in the old Roman Coliseum, Rosie. What a
- 1:01:08Speaker 12: spot for Daniel Espino. You mentioned the lack of major
- 1:01:11Speaker 12: league time. Boy, he won't ever have a more pressurized
- 1:01:14Speaker 12: start than this. Well, and the White Sox led the
- 1:01:18Speaker 12: league in walks.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: The set. The pitch.
- 1:01:25Speaker 12: Swing and a foul back. They will ambush you. White
- 1:01:30Speaker 12: Sox led the American League in runs scored just under five.
- 1:01:35Speaker 12: Led the league in walks. Third in homers. Third in OPS.
- 1:01:40Speaker 12: Three guys, including the guy at the plate, Miguel Vargas,
- 1:01:44Speaker 12: hit 30 homers or more. Now the 1-1 delivery. A
- 1:01:50Speaker 12: swing and a line right. Base hit to left. Stopping
- 1:01:54Speaker 12: at second base is Antonacci. And a heap of trouble
- 1:01:58Speaker 12: early for Daniel Espino. And the guy that right now
- 1:02:06Speaker 12: is becoming an absolute folk hero on the south side,
- 1:02:12Speaker 12: Munataka Murakami. Had a two-run home run that basically won
- 1:02:18Speaker 12: the game on Saturday in Cleveland. 3-4-8, three RBIs in
- 1:02:24Speaker 12: the series. Left-handed slugging, first baseman. The pitch is in there.
- 1:02:30Speaker 12: Aniel Martinez in left, Stephen Kwan in center, Chase DeLauder
- 1:02:34Speaker 12: in right. Nathaniel Lowe at first, Travis Pazan at second.
- 1:02:38Speaker 12: Ryan Rocchio at short, Jose Ramirez at third, Patrick Bailey catching.
- 1:02:43Speaker 12: The pitch, swung and drilled foul down the left side.
- 1:02:48Speaker 12: And right now, and maybe it's because of command issues,
- 1:02:53Speaker 12: as Suspino gets ahead 0-2, he is throwing pretty much
- 1:02:59Speaker 12: nothing but fastballs. Ten pitches, eight fastballs, two sliders. But
- 1:03:09Speaker 12: first time he's gotten ahead of a hitter 0-2. Outfield,
- 1:03:13Speaker 12: medium deep, straight up. The set, the pitch to Murakami.
- 1:03:19Speaker 12: Got him swinging as he got him to chase 100
- 1:03:23Speaker 12: miles an hour that may have been up and out
- 1:03:25Speaker 12: of the zone. That's the difference when you're pitching ahead
- 1:03:29Speaker 12: in the count rather than behind. Now you can get
- 1:03:32Speaker 12: a hitter to expand. One down, runner still first and second,
- 1:03:37Speaker 12: no score first inning. Kyle Teal hitting in the cleanup
- 1:03:42Speaker 12: spot today, one for seven in the series. The pitch
- 1:03:46Speaker 12: swung on and missed. Strike one. And again, 100 miles
- 1:03:50Speaker 12: per hour on the heater. The White Sox will strike
- 1:03:54Speaker 12: out a boatload. But it hasn't kept them from being
- 1:03:59Speaker 12: a very good offensive club.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: The 0-1 pitch. In tight.
- 1:04:05Speaker 7: A ball.
- 1:04:07Speaker 12: White Sox in their four postseason games are striking out
- 1:04:12Speaker 12: an average of 11 times a game. but they're four, no.
- 1:04:18Speaker 12: Two on, one out, no score first inning. Here's the 1-1.
- 1:04:22Speaker 12: Check swing, did he go?
- 1:04:24Speaker 17: No.
- 1:04:26Speaker 12: And again, now he's behind in the count, 2-1, and
- 1:04:29Speaker 12: this is how everything changes. Now Kyle Teal can zone in.
- 1:04:35Speaker 12: The left-handed hitting catcher, the pitch. And he drives one
- 1:04:43Speaker 12: to right field. Base hit. It'll take a bounce. Go
- 1:04:46Speaker 12: up against the wall. Antonezzi scores. Vargas into third. RBI
- 1:04:52Speaker 12: double by Teal. And again, you get behind in the count.
- 1:04:59Speaker 12: And you pay the ultimate price.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: And the White Sox have a chance to blow it
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: open early.
- 1:05:05Speaker 12: 1-0 Chicago. Runners second and third.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: One down. Chase Mydrop, the batter.
- 1:05:12Speaker 12: And because he's right-handed, we're not going to see Foster Griffin,
- 1:05:17Speaker 12: who's warming in the Cleveland bullpen and has been since
- 1:05:21Speaker 12: the game started. Chase Mydroth, as tough an out as
- 1:05:26Speaker 12: there is in the White Sox lineup, steps in. Infield in.
- 1:05:31Speaker 12: The pitch. Swing and a miss.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: High heat.
- 1:05:37Speaker 12: Mydroth, 2-4-8 with an RBI in the series. Boy, you
- 1:05:42Speaker 12: get a sense. The game is already teetering, and we're
- 1:05:46Speaker 12: only in the first. The pitch, a swing and a
- 1:05:51Speaker 12: foul back, and it's 0-2. Vargas at third. Teal at second.
- 1:05:59Speaker 12: Teal with his first RBI in the division series. Infield in,
- 1:06:07Speaker 12: 1-0 Chicago.
- 1:06:08Speaker 2: The pitch.
- 1:06:11Speaker 12: And a breaking ball stayed up. And it buckled the
- 1:06:13Speaker 12: knees of Myroth. And that's a pretty good take by
- 1:06:16Speaker 12: Chase Myroth on the curveball. The first one thrown by
- 1:06:21Speaker 12: Daniel Espino. Now the set. Now the 1-2 delivery. Fouled
- 1:06:29Speaker 12: it to the upper deck behind the plate. And I
- 1:06:32Speaker 12: got to believe what the left-handed hitter do next. That
- 1:06:38Speaker 12: we'll see Foster Griffin. Guardians in the first base dugout.
- 1:06:46Speaker 12: Now the 1-2 pitch.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Swing! And a miss.
- 1:06:49Speaker 12: Got him with a fastball. Out number two. Strikeout number two.
- 1:06:54Speaker 12: Pitching change number one. 1-0 White Sox in the first.
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: We'll be back.

- 1:08:29Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ron Verb. I'm saying what everyone else won't
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: after Guardians Baseball on 570 WKBN.
- 1:08:41Speaker 12: Well, we'll see Foster Griffin out of the Cleveland bullpen
- 1:08:44Speaker 12: for the first time. Obviously, his first appearance in postseason play.
- 1:08:50Speaker 12: Foster Griffin comes into a situation where it's not out
- 1:08:56Speaker 12: of hand yet, but based on how Cleveland has swung
- 1:09:00Speaker 12: the bats, a base hit here, and Cleveland's in huge
- 1:09:04Speaker 12: trouble in inning number one. Right now it's 1-0 Chicago.
- 1:09:09Speaker 12: White Sox at second and third with two down.
- 1:09:13Speaker 7: Foster Griffin, between Cleveland and Washington this year, made 31 starts.
- 1:09:22Speaker 7: Was 15 and 6 with a 360 ERA. He'll face
- 1:09:29Speaker 7: the left-handed hitting center fielder Tristan Peters.
- 1:09:33Speaker 12: Left on left. Griffin not a hard thrower. Throws everything
- 1:09:39Speaker 12: in the book.
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: The pitch. Breaking ball and a knee buckler. Strike one.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: Peters batted 265. 12 homers.
- 1:09:47Speaker 12: 56 RBIs this year. One for four in the division series.
- 1:09:55Speaker 12: Now the 0-1. Breaking ball swung on. Shot foul. First
- 1:09:59Speaker 12: base side. Bat snaps in half. Barrel of the bat
- 1:10:04Speaker 12: ends up about 15 feet in front of the bag
- 1:10:06Speaker 12: at first. Nothing into the count. Foster Griffin, a key
- 1:10:13Speaker 12: acquisition at the trade deadline. This year, left-handed batters hit
- 1:10:18Speaker 12: 2-0-4 against him. Righties batted 265. Fastball, sinker, cutter, curve, split, change.
- 1:10:28Speaker 12: Low 90s. 6'4, 212, now 31 years of age. New
- 1:10:35Speaker 12: bat for Tristan Peters, the outstanding center fielder. 1-0 White Sox,
- 1:10:41Speaker 12: second and third, two down in the first, the pitch. Curveball, strike, three-call,
- 1:10:47Speaker 12: challenged by Peters. That pitch from up here looked high.
- 1:10:52Speaker 12: We'll see what ABS says. It was high.
- 1:11:00Speaker 7: Boy, that cataract surgery has come in handy.
- 1:11:06Speaker 2: One ball, two strikes. There's a bug on the bat, too.
- 1:11:10Speaker 7: That's the first challenge I've gotten right this year.
- 1:11:13Speaker 12: The 1-2. Down low, 2-2. You feel like this is
- 1:11:21Speaker 12: potentially the game right here. Because of how Cleveland's offense
- 1:11:25Speaker 12: has performed so far in the postseason.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Now the 2-2 from Foster Griffin. Strike! Three called!
- 1:11:34Speaker 12: Front doored him with a breaking ball. What a job
- 1:11:37Speaker 12: by Griffin. White Sox lead it 1-0. They have only
- 1:11:42Speaker 12: trailed one time in the postseason. This is their fifth game,
- 1:11:47Speaker 12: and they jump out early 1-0. We've played one on
- 1:11:51Speaker 12: the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.
- 1:11:53Speaker 39: Two-for-one AC and heating inspections for just $ 49 from A
- 1:11:56Speaker 39: to Z.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: That small roof league may not seem like a... Hey,
- 1:12:00Speaker 2: it's Ron Ferb, and my show is all about the
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: Valley after Guardians Baseball on 570 WKBN.
- 1:12:09Speaker 12: 1-0 White Sox second inning, and not to be overdramatic, Rosie,
- 1:12:13Speaker 12: but you really did feel like that was make-or-break time
- 1:12:17Speaker 12: for Foster Griffin and the.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: Guardians in the first.
- 1:12:20Speaker 12: Absolutely, and now it's manageable, and you just feel like
- 1:12:23Speaker 12: in this series you fall behind by two or three runs.
- 1:12:27Speaker 12: That seems like a mountain to climb, but 1-0, that
- 1:12:31Speaker 12: can be managed by the offense, and maybe they can
- 1:12:33Speaker 12: get something going now against Newcomb.
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: Well, Cleveland, in the.
- 1:12:37Speaker 12: Two losses in Cleveland, scored three runs, had seven hits.
- 1:12:44Speaker 12: Joe Adele, the DH, will lead off the second. Joe
- 1:12:47Speaker 12: was saying in the clubhouse today, I still can't believe
- 1:12:50Speaker 12: that ball didn't go out of the park and tie
- 1:12:52Speaker 12: the game up on Monday. The lefty Newcomb's pitch swung
- 1:12:56Speaker 12: on roll to first. Halfway to second with the backhand.
- 1:12:59Speaker 12: Murakami long flip. And not in time. Adele with an
- 1:13:03Speaker 12: infield hit to start the inning. Murakami literally went halfway
- 1:13:09Speaker 12: to second. Made the backhand. That's a long flip then
- 1:13:13Speaker 12: to the pitcher covering. And Adele hustling down the line.
- 1:13:19Speaker 12: Able to get there ahead of Newcomb, and Newcomb couldn't
- 1:13:22Speaker 12: hang on to the flip, and I don't think it
- 1:13:25Speaker 12: would have mattered.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: It looked like Adele had.
- 1:13:28Speaker 12: Beaten him anyway, and for the third time in 20
- 1:13:31Speaker 12: innings in this series, the third time Cleveland gets a
- 1:13:36Speaker 12: leadoff man aboard to start an inning. See if that
- 1:13:40Speaker 12: changes things for Nathaniel Lowe, left on left. He takes
- 1:13:44Speaker 12: a knee-buckling breaking ball for strike one. Low one for
- 1:13:49Speaker 12: six on RBI with a double in this series. Shadows
- 1:13:56Speaker 12: now beyond the pitcher's mound.
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: The pitch. A swing and a shot to third.
- 1:14:01Speaker 13: Caught through to first.
- 1:14:03Speaker 12: Double play. A BB to third. Vargas caught it through
- 1:14:11Speaker 12: to first. Doubled up Adele.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: Mm-mm-mm-mm-mm. Two down, nobody on, 1-0 White Sox.
- 1:14:22Speaker 12: And you get the line drive off the bat of Lowe,
- 1:14:25Speaker 12: but it's turned into two, and in different phases of
- 1:14:29Speaker 12: the game, base running defense, it's going to be huge
- 1:14:31Speaker 12: today if you expect a low-scoring game. There's Anil Martinez,
- 1:14:37Speaker 12: switch inter-batting right-handed. The left fielder takes down and away.
- 1:14:41Speaker 12: He's 0-4-8 with four strikeouts in the series. Cleveland's hit
- 1:14:46Speaker 12: two balls. As hard as you can, both have been outs.
- 1:14:51Speaker 12: The pitch, a swing and a foul, third base side,
- 1:14:54Speaker 12: and he just swung at ball two. Angel Martinez has
- 1:14:58Speaker 12: had a hard time slowing down the heartbeat here in
- 1:15:02Speaker 12: this division series. He has swung at a lot of
- 1:15:08Speaker 12: bad pitches. The pitch is high, two and one to count.
- 1:15:12Speaker 12: White Sox get the left-hander, warming up in their bullpen.
- 1:15:18Speaker 2: Oh, Lord. Hagen-Smith.
- 1:15:21Speaker 12: Now the pitch. And it's all the way to the backstop.
- 1:15:25Speaker 12: Beg your pardon. Davis-Martin.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: No. Davis-Martin.
- 1:15:33Speaker 12: They gave us the wrong number. That's Brian Hudson, it
- 1:15:38Speaker 12: looks like. The pitch called strike focus. Anyway, left-hander in
- 1:15:43Speaker 12: the White Sox pen. Two down, second inning. 1-0 Chicago.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: On El Martinez.
- 1:15:50Speaker 7: Had 18 homers in the regular season.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: 62 RBIs. The left-hander Sean Newcomb. The payoff. Fouled at
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: the plate. Will do it again.
- 1:16:01Speaker 12: At three balls and two strikes. Yes, the White Sox
- 1:16:14Speaker 12: in their bullpen. Left-hander Brian Hudson loosening. Now the pitch.
- 1:16:20Speaker 12: Swung on, popped upstairs, foul behind the plate. Will do
- 1:16:24Speaker 12: it again at 3-2. White Sox 1, Cleveland nothing.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Top of the second, two outs, nobody on.
- 1:16:34Speaker 12: Packed house here at what used to be fondly known
- 1:16:37Speaker 12: as Koniski Park. Now the 3-2. Swing and a foul upstairs.
- 1:16:44Speaker 12: Will do it again. Reportedly, this ballpark now seats not
- 1:16:52Speaker 12: quite 41,000. I think.
- 1:16:55Speaker 7: They have a very large shoehorn today that's got a.
- 1:16:58Speaker 2: Lot more people than that here. The payoff.
- 1:17:01Speaker 12: Got him swinging. Martinez strikes out again. And so it's
- 1:17:06Speaker 12: 1-0 Sox. Middle of inning number two. This is a
- 1:17:09Speaker 12: Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.

- 1:18:30Speaker 12: at the corner of Carnegie and Ontario.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: The two-strength pitch. Got him swinging.

- 1:19:01Speaker 2: After Guardians Baseball on 570 WKBN.
- 1:19:11Speaker 12: Foster Griffin, his first ever postseason, coming out of the
- 1:19:15Speaker 12: Cleveland bullpen to keep them in the game, getting that
- 1:19:18Speaker 12: third out in the first. Daniel Espino went two-thirds of
- 1:19:22Speaker 12: an inning, gave up a run on two hits, struck
- 1:19:24Speaker 12: out two, walked one. Bottom third of the White Sox order.
- 1:19:28Speaker 12: Bottom of the second, 1-0 Chicago. Dollar Bank, the proud
- 1:19:32Speaker 12: banking partner of the Guardians, 28 locations in Northeast Ohio,
- 1:19:37Speaker 12: ready to provide solutions to help get you there. White
- 1:19:41Speaker 12: Sox today with their black jerseys, the white trim, the
- 1:19:45Speaker 12: white pants, with the black pinstriping. Guardians, the all-gray road uniforms,
- 1:19:52Speaker 12: navy blue and red trim. 1-0 White Sox on Kyle
- 1:19:56Speaker 12: Teal's RBI double. Braden Montgomery, he got the two-out, two-run
- 1:20:01Speaker 12: double that put the White Sox up for good in
- 1:20:05Speaker 12: Game 2 Monday. He'll bat right-handed, cuts and misses, strike one.
- 1:20:10Speaker 12: How about Foster Griffin? A year ago at this time,
- 1:20:15Speaker 12: he was finishing his three-year tour of duty in Japan.
- 1:20:19Speaker 12: The pitch, breaking ball, foul back in the count 0-2.
- 1:20:24Speaker 12: Had three tremendous years in Japan. Came back signed with
- 1:20:29Speaker 12: Washington and a career year in the major leagues at
- 1:20:32Speaker 12: age 31. Made the National League All-Star team. Came to
- 1:20:38Speaker 12: the Guardians at the deadline for four minor leaguers. He'll
- 1:20:43Speaker 12: be a free agent this fall. Now the 0-2 pitch.
- 1:20:51Speaker 12: Got him swinging. Good changeup, high and wide, and he
- 1:20:54Speaker 12: chased it. Well, if Foster Griffin's nervous, you'd never know it.
- 1:20:58Speaker 12: He's just pummeling the strength zone. Here's Randall Gritchick.
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: Who pulverizes.
- 1:21:05Speaker 12: Left-handed pitching to an OPS tune of almost 1,100 and
- 1:21:10Speaker 12: a slug of almost 700. Right-handed batter who was released
- 1:21:17Speaker 12: by the Yankees at the end of April.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: The pitch, in there, a strike.
- 1:21:23Speaker 12: The Yankees fight for their playoff lives tonight, down 0-2.
- 1:21:27Speaker 12: They'll entertain Tampa Bay and the Bronx. The 0-1 pitch,
- 1:21:33Speaker 12: high and wide, a curveball. Max Freed is starting tonight
- 1:21:37Speaker 12: for the Yankees, even though his girlfriend could be giving
- 1:21:41Speaker 12: birth at any moment. He said, I will not miss
- 1:21:45Speaker 12: the game no matter what. The 1-1, swung on, fly ball,
- 1:21:50Speaker 12: medium deep left. Martinez fighting the sun, grabs it, two downs.
- 1:21:57Speaker 2: If he misses the birth of his child, he may
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: have an ex-girlfriend.
- 1:22:02Speaker 12: But if the Yankees move on, I think people in
- 1:22:04Speaker 12: New York will be okay with that. But Mason Miller
- 1:22:07Speaker 12: put on paternity leave. San Diego's closer as his wife
- 1:22:11Speaker 12: is expecting. May have had the baby. We're not following
- 1:22:15Speaker 12: it that closely, but he didn't pitch last night. San
- 1:22:19Speaker 12: Diego stayed alive against Milwaukee. Two down, one nothing Sox.
- 1:22:23Speaker 12: Colson Montgomery, the number nine hitter, takes a sinker strike.
- 1:22:27Speaker 12: And boy, Foster Griffin is just coming in and dialing
- 1:22:31Speaker 12: it up. Montgomery had 31 homers and a major league
- 1:22:37Speaker 12: record 227 strikeouts. Sends his souvenir high and deep and
- 1:22:43Speaker 12: foul down the right side.
- 1:22:45Speaker 8: 0-2.
- 1:22:50Speaker 12: Foster Griffin, former first-round pick out of high school by
- 1:22:54Speaker 12: Kansas City, out of the Orlando area 12 years ago.
- 1:22:59Speaker 12: Eight years in the minors, then went to Japan, and
- 1:23:04Speaker 12: here he is in a do-or-die game for Cleveland.
- 1:23:08Speaker 2: Now the 0-2 pitch.
- 1:23:13Speaker 12: Breaking ball popped up foul, third base side out of play,
- 1:23:16Speaker 12: and he.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: May have gotten away with a hanger there. Go ahead, Tom.
- 1:23:20Speaker 12: What is it about these types of games where sometimes
- 1:23:23Speaker 12: the heroes are pitchers or players you never expect? Well, yeah,
- 1:23:28Speaker 12: because he was not slated to start. We thought it
- 1:23:31Speaker 12: might be Tanner Bybee today, the pitch.
- 1:23:34Speaker 5: High.
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: One and two.
- 1:23:36Speaker 12: But Cleveland elected to go with Daniel Espino, so you
- 1:23:39Speaker 12: would think.
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: That would mean Joey Cantillo at some point.
- 1:23:44Speaker 12: But quite honestly, as manager Stephen Boat said, we have
- 1:23:47Speaker 12: a plan.
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: But that could change the pitch.
- 1:23:51Speaker 13: Strike!
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: Three called.
- 1:23:53Speaker 12: A fastball locked him up. You know about plans, don't you?
- 1:23:58Speaker 12: Nobody said it better than the old former heavyweight champ
- 1:24:04Speaker 12: Mike Tyson. Everybody has a plan until they get drilled
- 1:24:09Speaker 12: in the mouth. It's 1-0 Sox. We go to the third.
- 1:24:13Speaker 12: Ron Furb checking in with Mike Miller out at the
- 1:24:15Speaker 12: coin shop. Sean Newcomb. One of those started today. Went
- 1:24:19Speaker 12: two scoreless innings.
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: Gave up a hit.
- 1:24:21Speaker 12: Had a strikeout. Now they'll go to the second of
- 1:24:25Speaker 12: the quartet. Brian Hudson. 1-0 White Sox. It's the top
- 1:24:33Speaker 12: of the third inning. And Travis Bozzano will lead it off.
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: Hudson.
- 1:24:37Speaker 15: Hudson.
- 1:24:39Speaker 12: He worked in game one on Saturday, one-third of a
- 1:24:43Speaker 12: scoreless inning. Hudson throws in the low 90s, that low
- 1:24:50Speaker 12: arm slot. Fastball, sinker, cutter, breaking ball. Travis Pisano, one
- 1:24:56Speaker 12: for seven with a double in the series. The set,
- 1:25:01Speaker 12: the pitch, and a breaking ball way outside. It's a big,
- 1:25:05Speaker 12: slurvy breaking ball. White Sox taking the lead in the
- 1:25:11Speaker 12: first on a Kyle Teal RBI double to right.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: The pitch. Lozano takes up high. 2-0.
- 1:25:18Speaker 12: Lozano had a tough time with the left hand of
- 1:25:24Speaker 12: pitching this year.
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: The pitch.
- 1:25:30Speaker 12: And it's a strike. And the count 2-1. That was
- 1:25:32Speaker 12: an 89 mile an hour fastball. Now the 2-1 pitch.
- 1:25:45Speaker 12: Breaking ball wide.
- 1:25:46Speaker 2: 3-1.
- 1:25:47Speaker 12: Kyle Teal will challenge the call. And he's wrong. White
- 1:25:58Speaker 12: Sox have one challenge left. And they count 3-1 on
- 1:26:02Speaker 12: Travis Buzana. Cleveland trying to get somebody aboard to start
- 1:26:07Speaker 12: an inning. They did last inning until they ran into
- 1:26:09Speaker 12: a double play.
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: The pitch.
- 1:26:12Speaker 12: Ball four down and away. So back-to-back innings, Cleveland's had
- 1:26:16Speaker 12: the leadoff man get a board. In the first two games,
- 1:26:20Speaker 12: they only had two innings in which the leadoff man
- 1:26:24Speaker 12: got a board. Why do you make such a big
- 1:26:26Speaker 12: deal out of it? Well, that's how you have rallies.
- 1:26:29Speaker 12: That's how you score runs. You've got to get people
- 1:26:32Speaker 12: on base before there are two men out. Here's Patrick
- 1:26:35Speaker 12: Bailey batting right-handed. Much better hitter from the other side
- 1:26:40Speaker 12: of the plate.
- 1:26:41Speaker 2: The pitch.
- 1:26:42Speaker 12: Breaking ball. And it's challenged again by Kyle Teal. Boy,
- 1:26:48Speaker 12: he better be right.
- 1:26:52Speaker 2: He's not.
- 1:26:53Speaker 7: White Sox out of challenges for the rest of the game.
- 1:26:57Speaker 12: Kyle Teal challenged twice in the last three pitches and
- 1:27:03Speaker 12: lost them both. And that could be critical. 1-0 the
- 1:27:08Speaker 12: count on Bailey. One for five in the series. The set,
- 1:27:13Speaker 12: the look, the pitch. Backed him off the plate. 2-0
- 1:27:16Speaker 12: and out to the mound is Teal. And at some point, Rosie,
- 1:27:21Speaker 12: you would think in this postseason, the White Sox would
- 1:27:25Speaker 12: have one of these bullpen games. It's their fifth postseason game.
- 1:27:30Speaker 12: They've all been this kind of a formula bullpen game.
- 1:27:35Speaker 12: somebody would have a bad outing. And especially today, it
- 1:27:38Speaker 12: doesn't sound like there's a bulk pitcher that they have
- 1:27:40Speaker 12: lined up to carry, like Sean Burke did the other night,
- 1:27:44Speaker 12: more than five innings. So you do run that risk
- 1:27:47Speaker 12: of running so many guys out there. At some point,
- 1:27:49Speaker 12: someone's going to have a rough one. 2-0 the count
- 1:27:52Speaker 12: on Patrick Bailey. 1-0 Sox third inning. Runner on, nobody
- 1:27:57Speaker 12: out the pitch. Ball three, he yanked it inside. And remember,
- 1:28:04Speaker 12: in the White Sox postseason, all but 12 innings has
- 1:28:11Speaker 12: been covered by the bullpen.
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: Then a throw to first, back is Bozzano. He almost
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: threw that away.
- 1:28:20Speaker 12: Coming into this game, in four postseason games, 36 innings,
- 1:28:26Speaker 12: the bullpen had covered 26 innings, the starters, 10.
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: They're at it again today. Bullpen in the third. The pitch.
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: Inside corner strike.
- 1:28:40Speaker 12: Bailey took a step toward first 3 and 1 to
- 1:28:42Speaker 12: count the White Sox bullpen this postseason has given up
- 1:28:50Speaker 12: 3 earned runs in 26 innings the pitch inside corner
- 1:28:57Speaker 12: strike 2 The starters gave up five runs in ten
- 1:29:03Speaker 12: innings coming into today. So obviously this formula has been
- 1:29:08Speaker 12: brilliant for Chicago to this point.
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: Payoff pitch. Swung on line to short. Leaping grab Montgomery.
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: Throw to first. Diving back is Pazana. He almost got
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: doubled up.
- 1:29:23Speaker 12: Cleveland has now had three rockets in the first three innings.
- 1:29:29Speaker 12: A diving catch and left by Gritchick. A leaping grab
- 1:29:33Speaker 12: at short there by Montgomery. And a BB hit to
- 1:29:38Speaker 12: third last inning that Vargas turned into a double play.
- 1:29:46Speaker 12: Here's Brian Rocchio switch hitting shortstop batting right handed 0
- 1:29:50Speaker 12: for 5. One out, one on, 1-0 Sox. The toss
- 1:29:55Speaker 12: over Bozana back standing. And what Cleveland has to do
- 1:29:59Speaker 12: is avoid that uh-oh, not again feeling. Just keep hitting
- 1:30:05Speaker 12: the ball hard offensively. You're going to get some to fall,
- 1:30:10Speaker 12: you would think. Now the pitch, and it's in there.
- 1:30:17Speaker 12: Shadows now covering. Home plate, the pitcher's mound. Then sunshine
- 1:30:24Speaker 12: in center field, sunshine on the batter's eye, that ivy
- 1:30:28Speaker 12: that grows up the batter's eye, the center field wall.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: The 0-1, breaking ball, tapped foul, 0-2.
- 1:30:36Speaker 12: This ballpark, a three-deck affair from foul pole to foul pole,
- 1:30:42Speaker 12: acres of bleachers seating in the outfield. Opened up in 1991,
- 1:30:46Speaker 12: it's been renovated. And what an atmosphere here today. The
- 1:30:54Speaker 12: 0-2 pitch. Swung on, banged into right field, a base hit.
- 1:31:00Speaker 12: Bazana had to hold up to avoid being hit by
- 1:31:02Speaker 12: the ball so he could only get to second. That's
- 1:31:06Speaker 12: the first time we've seen Rocchio this series take the
- 1:31:09Speaker 12: ball the other way. And he shot a single to right.
- 1:31:13Speaker 12: And Bazana alertly did not get hit by that base
- 1:31:17Speaker 12: hit or he would have been out. So Bozzana at second,
- 1:31:22Speaker 12: Rocchio at first. Top of the order. And Cleveland's actually
- 1:31:27Speaker 12: got two men aboard and only one out. Here's Stephen Kwan,
- 1:31:32Speaker 12: one for eight in the series. Tapped back to the
- 1:31:36Speaker 12: mound to start today's game. Brian Hudson in a jam.
- 1:31:41Speaker 12: The pitch, breaking ball and a knee buckler for strike
- 1:31:45Speaker 12: one on the outside corner. A look back. Now the pitch.
- 1:32:01Speaker 12: Kwon sends a line drive to left field. It'll get
- 1:32:04Speaker 12: down a base hit. Bazana being waved home. The throw
- 1:32:07Speaker 12: comes to third. Montgomery's throw to the plate.
- 1:32:09Speaker 2: Not in time.
- 1:32:10Speaker 12: Head first slide. Bazana ties the game. Throw came all
- 1:32:14Speaker 12: the way home. Was backed up by the pitcher, Hudson.
- 1:32:18Speaker 12: And we've got a 1-1 game. As Stephen Kwon with
- 1:32:21Speaker 12: a line drive. RBI single to left. Scoring Bazana from second.
- 1:32:26Speaker 12: Rocchio to second. Kwon now at first with his first
- 1:32:30Speaker 12: RBI this postseason. And now left-hander Hagen Smith quickly getting
- 1:32:37Speaker 12: ready in the White Sox bullpen. Jose Ramirez batting right-handed.
- 1:32:43Speaker 12: Robbed of a hit back in the first when he
- 1:32:45Speaker 12: hit a BB to left. And Randall Gritchick made a
- 1:32:49Speaker 12: diving catch. And now the catcher Kyle Teal heading to
- 1:32:53Speaker 12: the mound. And manager Will Venable following him. And that's it. Well,
- 1:32:59Speaker 12: one thing we learned on Monday, Will Venable does have
- 1:33:03Speaker 12: a quick hook. It worked in the first inning on Monday.
- 1:33:08Speaker 12: Will it work here in the third inning today? One
- 1:33:11Speaker 12: of the top left-handed arms in the game is coming
- 1:33:14Speaker 12: on Hagen Smith. This pitching change brought to you by

- 1:34:57Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ron Furb. I'm not holding back, ever, after
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: Guardians Baseball on 570 WKBN.
- 1:35:01Speaker 10: 1-1 game.
- 1:35:07Speaker 12: Cleveland's tied it up on Stephen Kwan's RBI single here
- 1:35:11Speaker 12: in the third. Kwan at first, Brian Rocchio at second,
- 1:35:14Speaker 12: Jose Ramirez at the plate. Hagan Smith, an electric mid-upper
- 1:35:20Speaker 12: 90s fastball, cut fastball, slider change. He last worked in.
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: Game one.
- 1:35:29Speaker 12: He started it Saturday in Cleveland. Ramirez digs in. One out,
- 1:35:36Speaker 12: two on the pitch, and it almost hit him in
- 1:35:39Speaker 12: the thigh. Hagen-Smith on Saturday started, went two and two-thirds innings,
- 1:35:46Speaker 12: struck out four, walked three. He walked those three batters
- 1:35:51Speaker 12: with two outs in the third when he obviously tired.
- 1:35:55Speaker 12: That pitch outside, and you wonder with Hagen-Smith, he made
- 1:35:59Speaker 12: 51 pitches on Saturday, and he's a young man. that
- 1:36:05Speaker 12: had shoulder issues this summer, was out five weeks. Now
- 1:36:11Speaker 12: the 2-0 to Ramirez, and it's in the dirt, 3-0.
- 1:36:15Speaker 12: And at some point, do all of these appearances catch
- 1:36:19Speaker 12: up to the White Sox relievers? And that's what makes
- 1:36:22Speaker 12: today so fascinating. If the Guardians can win today, you
- 1:36:25Speaker 12: feel like things could really tip because at some point,
- 1:36:29Speaker 12: it's got to catch up with the White Sox the
- 1:36:30Speaker 12: deeper they get into the series. 3-0 on Ramirez. Here
- 1:36:34Speaker 12: it comes. And he took it a strike. Well, and remember,
- 1:36:39Speaker 12: if Cleveland wins today, game four is tomorrow. That would
- 1:36:43Speaker 12: be the first time we've played back-to-back days in the
- 1:36:47Speaker 12: division series. That impacts your bullpen greatly. The 3-1. Down
- 1:36:53Speaker 12: and away, he walked him. And the bases are loaded.
- 1:36:57Speaker 12: And so for Hagen Smith, the last four Cleveland batters
- 1:37:01Speaker 12: he's faced in the division series, he's walked. And here
- 1:37:06Speaker 12: comes Chase DeLauder. Ramirez heads to first. Kwon advances to second.
- 1:37:13Speaker 12: Down to third is Roquio. And this is an inning
- 1:37:17Speaker 12: that Cleveland's not had this series. They have got to
- 1:37:21Speaker 12: capitalize on this inning. DeLauder bounced out his first time.
- 1:37:27Speaker 12: He takes a fastball strike. 95 miles an hour. What
- 1:37:32Speaker 12: a matchup left on left. DeLauder hit lefties well all year.
- 1:37:40Speaker 12: Bases loaded, infield double play depth. The pitch. Check swing.
- 1:37:46Speaker 12: He chased the slider in the dirt down and away.
- 1:37:48Speaker 12: And now Smith, a strikeout pitcher looking for one here.
- 1:37:52Speaker 12: He had 41 strikeouts in 28 innings when he came up.
- 1:37:59Speaker 12: Had a 129 ERA, a 117 batting average against. Now
- 1:38:05Speaker 12: the 0-2. Swung on a high chopper to first. Coming
- 1:38:09Speaker 12: home with it is Murakami.
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: Got him.
- 1:38:12Speaker 12: Murakami gets the force at the plate on Rokio. Two
- 1:38:19Speaker 12: down bases still loaded. Kwon to third. Ramirez to second.
- 1:38:24Speaker 12: De Lauder to first. And a massive out for Hagan Smith.
- 1:38:31Speaker 12: And Cleveland has struggled all year long with runners at
- 1:38:37Speaker 12: third and less than two down. Now it's up to
- 1:38:41Speaker 12: Joe Adele. Infield and his first time up. Bases loaded,
- 1:38:45Speaker 12: two down, 1-1 game. The pitch, swing and a miss
- 1:38:48Speaker 12: on a ball that almost hit him. It bounced in there,
- 1:38:52Speaker 12: almost hit him, and he chased the breaking ball for
- 1:38:55Speaker 12: strike one. Cleveland with men in scoring position this series,
- 1:39:09Speaker 12: one for ten. That one hit came this inning from
- 1:39:14Speaker 12: Stephen Kwan.
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: The pitch.
- 1:39:20Speaker 12: In the dirt, another terrific block by Teal. And the count,
- 1:39:27Speaker 12: one ball, one strike. 1-1 game. Bases loaded, two down
- 1:39:39Speaker 12: in the Cleveland 3rd. Now the 1-1 delivery. Swung on,
- 1:39:45Speaker 12: fouled upstairs. Hagen-Smith ahead in the count of one and two.
- 1:39:49Speaker 12: And much like you felt for Cleveland, the game could
- 1:39:54Speaker 12: have gotten out of hand in the first inning. This
- 1:39:58Speaker 12: a critical moment for the White Sox, although they're up
- 1:40:02Speaker 12: two games to none.
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: Now the 1-2 pitch. Swung on.
- 1:40:08Speaker 13: Banged inside the.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: Bag at first.
- 1:40:10Speaker 7: Down the right field line to hit it toward the corner.
- 1:40:13Speaker 7: Kwon scores. Ramirez scores. De Lauder scores. Zedell on his
- 1:40:17Speaker 7: way to third. He'll throw the head first slide. It's
- 1:40:20Speaker 7: a triple. His second triple in the series. And the
- 1:40:25Speaker 7: Guardians with a four-run third. Joe Adele shot it the
- 1:40:32Speaker 7: other way. Inside the bag at first. Down into that
- 1:40:36Speaker 7: right field corner. What a piece of hitting.
- 1:40:41Speaker 12: And Cleveland gets its biggest hit of the postseason here
- 1:40:45Speaker 12: in 2026 and lead it 4-1. And Nathaniel low to
- 1:40:50Speaker 12: the plate with two men out. Here's the pitch. Down
- 1:40:55Speaker 12: and away, ball one. And not to get ahead of ourselves,
- 1:41:01Speaker 12: so much baseball yet to be played, but you've got
- 1:41:05Speaker 12: the White Sox using key guys here trying to close
- 1:41:09Speaker 12: out Cleveland in game three, Hagan Smith being one of them.
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: The 1-0 pitch. Inside, he almost hit him, ball two.
- 1:41:20Speaker 12: And that may go a long way in determining how
- 1:41:23Speaker 12: long they let Hagan Smith throw. Joe Adele at third
- 1:41:30Speaker 12: with his second postseason triple.
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: The pitch.
- 1:41:34Speaker 12: And a little bit low, 3-0. And Hagansmith looks rattled.
- 1:41:39Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:41:40Speaker 12: Look, for a lot of these White Sox players, they're
- 1:41:44Speaker 12: playing with the expectations of the home crowd. And sometimes
- 1:41:48Speaker 12: that can come into play for the opposition. Guardians can
- 1:41:50Speaker 12: just go.
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: Out and play. The pitch. Took a strike.
- 1:41:55Speaker 12: Talked about it with Steven Vogt. White Sox have not
- 1:41:59Speaker 12: been uncomfortable this entire postseason.
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: They've been dominating. They're 4-0.
- 1:42:06Speaker 12: And today with those expectations, they now trail 4-1.
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: The pitch. Swing and a miss. And a full count.
- 1:42:15Speaker 12: Lowe did not look real comfortable with that swing of
- 1:42:19Speaker 12: Hagan Smith. White Sox fans get up and at him.
- 1:42:26Speaker 12: But a lot of steam. Has gone out of this
- 1:42:30Speaker 12: ballpark thanks to Joe Adele's two-out, three-run triple.
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: The pitch.
- 1:42:35Speaker 7: Inside.
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: He almost hit him.
- 1:42:37Speaker 12: And now Hagen Smith has walked two more batters this inning.
- 1:42:43Speaker 12: And Guardians at the corners. And the ninth man to
- 1:42:46Speaker 12: bat in the inning, Angel Martinez. And we're going to
- 1:42:52Speaker 12: get a visit from Zach Bove, the pitching coach. This
- 1:42:58Speaker 12: is what makes a best-of-five series so fascinating, as the
- 1:43:03Speaker 12: White Sox bullpen will get busy.
- 1:43:05Speaker 2: 4-1 Cleveland.
- 1:43:08Speaker 7: You haven't had games on back-to-back days yet in this postseason.
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: And so how do you approach it?
- 1:43:19Speaker 12: Today if your manager will venable he was going for
- 1:43:22Speaker 12: the kill shot early and he might have to back
- 1:43:24Speaker 12: off on that in a hurry because there's no off
- 1:43:27Speaker 12: day tomorrow for the first time it's fascinating and and
- 1:43:30Speaker 12: that short series the ebbs and flows my goodness they
- 1:43:33Speaker 12: they come up so quickly another left-hander noah schultz warming
- 1:43:38Speaker 12: in the white socks pen guardians at the corners two
- 1:43:41Speaker 12: down four in four to one cleveland martinez takes a
- 1:43:45Speaker 12: strike anil martinez struck out his first time Well, maybe
- 1:43:51Speaker 12: now you'll see Cleveland hitters relax a little bit and
- 1:43:55Speaker 12: not everybody try to be a hero and just take
- 1:43:59Speaker 12: that kind of hitting approach. Joe Adele took the pitch.
- 1:44:03Speaker 12: Swing and a miss. Martinez chased one in the dirt
- 1:44:07Speaker 12: and the count 0-2. And really earlier in the inning,
- 1:44:10Speaker 12: Brian Rocchio and Stephen Kwan both going the other way.
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: Good plan, good approach.
- 1:44:16Speaker 12: Cleveland had scored three runs in the first two games.
- 1:44:19Speaker 12: They score four here in the third. The 0-2 got
- 1:44:24Speaker 12: him swinging. He chased another breaking ball in the dirt.
- 1:44:27Speaker 12: Teal throws to first to complete the strikeout. But what
- 1:44:31Speaker 12: an inning for Cleveland. Stephen Kwan, an RBI single. Joe Adele,
- 1:44:36Speaker 12: a two-out, three-run triple. 4-1 Cleveland, middle of inning number three.

- 1:46:43Speaker 2: Think back to the first inning when the White Sox
- 1:46:46Speaker 2: led 1-0.
- 1:46:47Speaker 12: Second and third with two down, and he came on
- 1:46:50Speaker 12: and struck out Tristan Peters to keep it a one-run game.
- 1:46:55Speaker 12: Then he had a 1-2-3 second. And now you've got
- 1:46:58Speaker 12: a starter on the mound for Cleveland. You have two
- 1:47:01Speaker 12: other starters, Tanner Bybee and Joey Cantillo in the bullpen.
- 1:47:07Speaker 12: And if there's a game four tomorrow, Parker Messick pitches
- 1:47:10Speaker 12: on regular rest. And if there'd be a game five
- 1:47:14Speaker 12: on Saturday, Gavin Williams would pitch on normal rest. But
- 1:47:20Speaker 12: you have to get to tomorrow. Top of the order
- 1:47:23Speaker 12: for the White Sox. 4-1 Cleveland. Sam Antonacci, Miguel Vargas,
- 1:47:28Speaker 12: Munataka Murakami.
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: The pitch. And it's a little bit low. Ball one.
- 1:47:33Speaker 12: And the one thing you know about the White Sox,
- 1:47:36Speaker 12: this game is really, and I mean really, far from over.
- 1:47:42Speaker 12: The way they never quit. The pitch and their called strike.
- 1:47:47Speaker 12: And the count one and one. Bart Swain tells us
- 1:47:52Speaker 12: Kenny Lofton is the only Cleveland player with multiple triples
- 1:47:57Speaker 12: in a postseason series. The pitch fouled on the left side.
- 1:48:02Speaker 12: And the count one and two. Kenny Lofton in 1995
- 1:48:08Speaker 12: had two triples in that postseason. Joe Adele's had two
- 1:48:13Speaker 12: triples in the last two games. And it's 4-1 Cleveland
- 1:48:18Speaker 12: because of that. Left on left, the pitch.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: Wide. And they count 2-2.
- 1:48:29Speaker 12: In the history of Cleveland postseason, Omar Vizquel leads this franchise.
- 1:48:33Speaker 12: Four triples. Kenny Lofton and Joe Adele, two. Now the 2-2.
- 1:48:40Speaker 12: Swing and a foul, and that got a piece of
- 1:48:42Speaker 12: the home plate. Umpire Todd Tishner, Patrick Bailey checks on him,
- 1:48:46Speaker 12: as does Sam Antonacci. See your Northern Ohio Toyota dealers
- 1:48:54Speaker 12: for the Toyota Camry. All hybrid built here in the U.S.
- 1:48:58Speaker 12: For all Toyota offers, go to toyota.com. The pitch, hit
- 1:49:03Speaker 12: him in the back. A breaking ball that didn't break.
- 1:49:09Speaker 12: And Antonacci aboard to start the third inning. That'll bring
- 1:49:15Speaker 12: up Miguel Vargas, singled his first time up. Why you
- 1:49:19Speaker 12: never breathe easy against this White Sox ball club is
- 1:49:24Speaker 12: because of that long ball threat. Vargas, Murakami, Montgomery all
- 1:49:31Speaker 12: had 30 homers or more. Curveball swung on, fouled into
- 1:49:35Speaker 12: the home plate seating area.
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: Strike one.
- 1:49:38Speaker 12: And this is a good home run hitter's part, especially
- 1:49:42Speaker 12: on a day like today. No breeze, 75 degrees. Big
- 1:49:51Speaker 12: lead at first. The pitch swung on, fouled again.
- 1:49:55Speaker 11: 0-2.
- 1:49:55Speaker 19: We won!
- 1:50:16Speaker 12: Looks like right-hander Sean Armstrong up in the Cleveland pen.
- 1:50:23Speaker 12: Griffin's pitch in tight underneath the arms of all in
- 1:50:27Speaker 12: two strikes. Cleveland four runs on four hits. Chicago one
- 1:50:32Speaker 12: run on two hits. We're only in the third. Runner on,
- 1:50:36Speaker 12: nobody out for the Sox. The Sunfield, which is really
- 1:50:40Speaker 12: a tough field right now, is left field. The pitch,
- 1:50:44Speaker 12: got him, swinging. Fastball away at 92 miles an hour.
- 1:50:48Speaker 12: Vargas chased it, and Foster Griffin has struck out four
- 1:50:53Speaker 12: in an inning and two-thirds. He has gotten some really
- 1:50:58Speaker 12: late chase on that fastball. Makes it look a lot
- 1:51:01Speaker 12: quicker than the 92 because he's setting it up well
- 1:51:04Speaker 12: with his off-speed stuff. Here's Munataka Murakami. Struck out his
- 1:51:08Speaker 12: first time up. Left on left. Murakami swings and skies
- 1:51:14Speaker 12: one foul. First base side near the Cleveland dugout into
- 1:51:18Speaker 12: the seat.
- 1:51:19Speaker 2: Strike one.
- 1:51:24Speaker 12: Noah Schultz continues to throw in the White Sox bullpen.
- 1:51:30Speaker 12: They are going to go to their fourth different left-handed
- 1:51:36Speaker 12: relief pitcher. They'll be out of lefties for the rest
- 1:51:39Speaker 12: of this game. They'll go to Schultz, it looks like,
- 1:51:43Speaker 12: in the fourth inning. Now the 0-1 pitch. Swing and
- 1:51:49Speaker 12: a miss.
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: Sinkert.
- 1:51:51Speaker 12: And you do wonder right now, Rosie, there are some
- 1:51:54Speaker 12: streams of sunshine coming through the top of the roof
- 1:51:59Speaker 12: near second base. Then shadows, then sunshine in center. Is
- 1:52:04Speaker 12: it hard for the hitter to see the pitch? Got
- 1:52:07Speaker 12: him swinging on a great breaking ball away. And Murakami,
- 1:52:12Speaker 12: strikeout victim number five. And when you think of Foster
- 1:52:17Speaker 12: Griffin and you think of the trade deadline, let's see.
- 1:52:21Speaker 12: Joe Adele, three-run triple. Trade deadline acquisition. Foster Griffin, trade
- 1:52:26Speaker 12: deadline acquisition. All he's done now is strike out five
- 1:52:31Speaker 12: in two innings. Here's Kyle Teal. The pitch to him.
- 1:52:35Speaker 12: Fastball just missed. It'll be challenged by Patrick Bailey. And
- 1:52:45Speaker 12: it's a strike. So nothing and one to count on Teal.
- 1:52:49Speaker 12: His RBI double in the first puts Chicago up 1-0.
- 1:52:53Speaker 12: White Sox had runners at second and third, one out.
- 1:52:56Speaker 12: Daniel Espino got a mammoth strike out of Chase Mydroth.
- 1:53:00Speaker 12: Foster Griffin came on, struck out Tristan Peters. Now he
- 1:53:04Speaker 12: pumps one in there to Teal. Strike two, call him.
- 1:53:11Speaker 12: 4-1 Cleveland. Runner on, two down, third inning. This is
- 1:53:16Speaker 12: how you take this crowd out of the game.
- 1:53:18Speaker 2: The pitch. Down and away, one and two to count.
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: Really impressive by Griffin. He hasn't pitched in two weeks.
- 1:53:26Speaker 12: It was the Boston series on the last road trip
- 1:53:29Speaker 12: when he was last on the mound. So this is
- 1:53:31Speaker 12: impressive because the command's been decent.
- 1:53:34Speaker 2: Sure has. Five strikeouts and a hit batter. He fires.
- 1:53:39Speaker 12: Down low, missed with a sinker. And the count two
- 1:53:43Speaker 12: and two, and his stuff has ticked up. That sinker
- 1:53:46Speaker 12: was 94 miles per hour. Normally, he's in that 91,
- 1:53:50Speaker 12: 92 mile an hour range. Two and two, the count
- 1:53:55Speaker 12: on Teal. Had an injury play campaign, but they're catcher
- 1:53:59Speaker 12: of the future. The pitch to him, and he fouls
- 1:54:03Speaker 12: it back. Again, they have three starters in the lineup today.
- 1:54:08Speaker 12: Kyle Teal, second baseman Chase Mydrop, right fielder Braden Montgomery.
- 1:54:14Speaker 12: They all came from Boston for Garrett Crochet in December
- 1:54:19Speaker 12: of 24.
- 1:54:19Speaker 2: Down to 2-2.
- 1:54:26Speaker 12: Swung on, ripped deep right field, down the line, hooking
- 1:54:29Speaker 12: foul off the netting. Fans are uproaring. They thought it
- 1:54:34Speaker 12: was a home run, but no. I tell you what,
- 1:54:40Speaker 12: I like your optimism. They're watching the end result, not
- 1:54:46Speaker 12: how it got there. The ricochets off the netting. What
- 1:54:50Speaker 12: an incredible atmosphere. 2-2 the count, 2-down runner on, 4-1 Cleveland.
- 1:54:58Speaker 12: Griffin's ready the pitch runner goes pitch taken strike three
- 1:55:01Speaker 12: call ball got away from Bailey picks it up in
- 1:55:04Speaker 12: front of home plate Kyle Teal says I'm not running
- 1:55:08Speaker 12: he'll go back to the third base dugout and Griffin
- 1:55:11Speaker 12: has struck out six in two and a third four
- 1:55:15Speaker 12: to one Cleveland.

- 1:55:30Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ron Verb and I'll be bringing the heat
- 1:55:33Speaker 2: every afternoon at 3 on 570 WKBN.
- 1:55:45Speaker 12: Guardians up 4-1 as we head to the fourth inning
- 1:55:49Speaker 12: here in Chicago. Game three of the American League Division Series.
- 1:55:53Speaker 12: It is a win or go home day for the Guardians.
- 1:55:57Speaker 12: And a four-run top half of the third inning has
- 1:56:00Speaker 12: them in front by that 4-1 score. Sox have gone
- 1:56:03Speaker 12: to their bullpen again. Left-hander Noah Schultz is on the pitch.
- 1:56:09Speaker 12: The fourth pitcher today for the Sox. All have been lefties,
- 1:56:14Speaker 12: so they're out of those. And Schultz will try and
- 1:56:17Speaker 12: maybe give them some length. Maybe not the way it
- 1:56:19Speaker 12: goes for Chicago. But he will face Travis Bazzana leading
- 1:56:23Speaker 12: things off for a second straight inning. Bazzana got it
- 1:56:27Speaker 12: started last inning with a leadoff walk. Later scored. Here's
- 1:56:32Speaker 12: the pitch to him. He shows bunt. Pulled the bat back.
- 1:56:35Speaker 12: And the pitch was outside for ball one. Not many
- 1:56:39Speaker 12: pitchers taller in the big leagues than Noah Schultz. He
- 1:56:42Speaker 12: stands 6'10, 240. First round pick back in 2022 by
- 1:56:50Speaker 12: the Sox. Next pitch on the outside corner for a strike.
- 1:56:55Speaker 12: And this year in the regular season, Schultz, 14 starts,
- 1:56:59Speaker 12: five relief outings, four and nine, an ERA of 5.57.
- 1:57:04Speaker 12: First time we've seen him in the series. Here's his
- 1:57:08Speaker 12: 1-1 pitch. Swung on, a chopper over the mound. The
- 1:57:12Speaker 12: shortstop's there, Montgomery. Fields throws, just in time on a
- 1:57:17Speaker 12: close play. Man, Bozzano is barreling down the line, and
- 1:57:21Speaker 12: he almost beat it to first base, but he's retired
- 1:57:24Speaker 12: by an eyelash. So one down, and here comes Patrick Bailey.
- 1:57:30Speaker 12: Jim Rosenhouse along with Tom Hamilton. Great to have you
- 1:57:33Speaker 12: with us for another Late afternoon of Guardians baseball. The
- 1:57:37Speaker 12: season continuing. We hope to have baseball tomorrow afternoon or night, depending.
- 1:57:43Speaker 12: Here's the pitch. And Bailey swings and misses for a strike.
- 1:57:48Speaker 12: If the Yankees lose tonight and that series with Tampa
- 1:57:51Speaker 12: Bay ends, then the Guardians and Sox would play at
- 1:57:55Speaker 12: night if Cleveland wins this game. Here's the pitch. And
- 1:58:01Speaker 12: Bailey takes it outside for a ball. If the Yankees
- 1:58:05Speaker 12: win and extend that series and the Guardians do the same,
- 1:58:08Speaker 12: then it would be a 5 o'clock Cleveland start time tomorrow.
- 1:58:15Speaker 12: Here's Schultz with the 1-1. Bailey swings and misses. 1-2
- 1:58:19Speaker 12: the count. And as Tom mentioned earlier, the Yankees fade
- 1:58:24Speaker 12: resting in the hands of Max Breed. Against a really
- 1:58:30Speaker 12: good Tampa Bay club that's playing well. Here's the 1-2.
- 1:58:34Speaker 12: Just missed outside. Bet Kyle Thiel wished he had a
- 1:58:40Speaker 12: challenge left. That didn't miss by much. 2-2 the count.
- 1:58:47Speaker 12: White Sox out of challenges. We're only in the fourth inning.
- 1:58:52Speaker 2: 4-1 Cleveland. Here it comes. In tight. Full count on
- 1:58:58Speaker 2: Patrick Bailey.
- 1:58:59Speaker 12: Can you imagine if the White Sox lose tonight and
- 1:59:03Speaker 12: get swept out by Tampa? What may happen in that
- 1:59:09Speaker 12: organization going forward?
- 1:59:11Speaker 2: The 3-2 pitch. Outside.
- 1:59:14Speaker 12: Ball four. Bailey draws a walk. Well, I would imagine
- 1:59:21Speaker 12: there would be rampant speculation about major changes at the top.
- 1:59:24Speaker 2: I mean....
- 1:59:28Speaker 12: Yeah, Aaron Judge is hurt, but he's been hurt all year.
- 1:59:33Speaker 12: They have not played very well in any facet. Here's
- 1:59:41Speaker 12: the pitch to the number nine hitter, Brian Rocchio, and
- 1:59:43Speaker 12: he takes it outside. It's not often you see a
- 1:59:48Speaker 12: starting pitcher criticize his own team, and Cam Schlittler did
- 1:59:51Speaker 12: the other night. The Yankees defensively were awful in their
- 1:59:55Speaker 12: game against Tampa Bay. Next pitch, low and in. One
- 1:59:59Speaker 12: and one to count. But now that series shifts to
- 2:00:04Speaker 12: New York, so we'll see if it's a different story.
- 2:00:07Speaker 12: But Tampa Bay, a really sound ball club. We saw
- 2:00:09Speaker 12: that in the season series with the Guardians. The 1-1.
- 2:00:13Speaker 12: Swung on, grounded to the second baseman. My drop for
- 2:00:16Speaker 12: the bag for one. Montgomery to first. Double play. And
- 2:00:21Speaker 12: Schultz works out of it, working around a walk to Bailey.
- 2:00:25Speaker 12: Guardians go quickly in the top of the fourth inning.
- 2:00:27Speaker 12: We head to the bottom of the inning. 4-1 Cleveland
- 2:00:31Speaker 12: over the White Sox on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.

- 2:02:21Speaker 2: Hey, it's Ron Verb, and I'll be bringing the heat
- 2:02:23Speaker 2: every afternoon at 3 on 570 WKBN.
- 2:02:31Speaker 12: Guardians up 4-1 as we head to the bottom half
- 2:02:34Speaker 12: of inning number four here in Chicago. Must win day
- 2:02:38Speaker 12: to extend the season for the Guardians who came in
- 2:02:41Speaker 12: trailing this best of five, two games to none. And
- 2:02:45Speaker 12: going into this madhouse that is Raid Field on the
- 2:02:47Speaker 12: south side of Chicago. But it's amazing what a four-run
- 2:02:51Speaker 12: inning can do to take the crowd out of the game.
- 2:02:54Speaker 12: And that's what the Guardians put together in the top
- 2:02:56Speaker 12: half of the third inning. And the work of Foster
- 2:02:59Speaker 12: Griffin on the mound. He came on, struck out the
- 2:03:02Speaker 12: last batter in the first inning to stem the tide
- 2:03:06Speaker 12: after the White Sox had scored in the first. Six
- 2:03:09Speaker 12: strikeouts later, he's still out there in the fourth with
- 2:03:13Speaker 12: Sean Armstrong loosening behind him in the pen. The lefty
- 2:03:17Speaker 12: Griffin will face Chase Mydroth who struck out his first
- 2:03:21Speaker 12: time up. Griffin delivers and Mydroth takes it high and
- 2:03:27Speaker 12: away for ball one. Well, What a year it has
- 2:03:31Speaker 12: been for Foster Griffin. A National League All-Star because of
- 2:03:35Speaker 12: that tremendous start with Washington.
- 2:03:38Speaker 2: The 1-0. Outside and high. 2-0. And again, a former
- 2:03:46Speaker 2: top pick of the Royals.
- 2:03:48Speaker 12: But it took some time in Japan and some ups
- 2:03:51Speaker 12: and downs in the minor leagues in the states to
- 2:03:54Speaker 12: get where he is today. And his next pitch is
- 2:03:56Speaker 12: in there for a strike.
- 2:03:57Speaker 11: 2-1.
- 2:03:59Speaker 7: I do think Rosie, at this point in the series,
- 2:04:04Speaker 7: Cleveland's got the advantage pitching-wise and bullpen-wise.
- 2:04:09Speaker 2: The 2-1, swung on, popped him a foul.
- 2:04:11Speaker 7: That's the one advantage of having legitimate starting pitching. Parker
- 2:04:16Speaker 7: Messick and Gavin Williams both pitched very well. Now again,
- 2:04:22Speaker 7: can you take advantage of that? Time will tell.
- 2:04:29Speaker 2: Now the 2-2 pitch. Swung on. Ground ball. Third base.
- 2:04:33Speaker 2: Pass to diving.
- 2:04:33Speaker 12: Jose Ramirez down the left field line near the corner.
- 2:04:37Speaker 12: On his way to second is Mydrop. He's in with
- 2:04:40Speaker 12: a stand-up double. Ramirez came awfully close to smothering that ball.
- 2:04:46Speaker 12: It would have been a base hit anyway. But it
- 2:04:49Speaker 12: turns into a double once it got past Jose on
- 2:04:51Speaker 12: that diving attempt. So a leadoff base runner for the
- 2:04:57Speaker 12: Sox and You mentioned it last inning.
- 2:05:00Speaker 2: It's 4-1 Cleveland.
- 2:05:03Speaker 12: The White Sox in general have had a lot of
- 2:05:06Speaker 12: comeback wins this year. In this place, though, look out.
- 2:05:10Speaker 12: It is never over till it's over, to coin a phrase.
- 2:05:14Speaker 12: Or to regurgitate one. Here's the pitch to Tristan Peters
- 2:05:17Speaker 12: down low for a ball. And it's 1-0 on Peters.
- 2:05:23Speaker 12: Their home record, 48-33. And that was after a slow
- 2:05:29Speaker 12: start at home before they became this year's White Sox.
- 2:05:33Speaker 2: Next pitch in tight. Did it hit him?
- 2:05:36Speaker 12: Peters thinks so. Did he check his swing though? And
- 2:05:41Speaker 12: the home plate umpire motions toward first hit batsman. So
- 2:05:47Speaker 12: he did indeed check his swing. Or did he?
- 2:05:52Speaker 2: The call on the field is a hit by pitch.
- 2:05:55Speaker 2: Cleveland is challenging that. It looked like it hit the bat, Rosie,
- 2:05:58Speaker 2: the way it ricocheted.
- 2:06:00Speaker 17: Okay.
- 2:06:03Speaker 12: They're going to go to review in New York on this.
- 2:06:12Speaker 12: And our guy Gunnar will help me down in the
- 2:06:17Speaker 12: video room for the Guardians. I think he's got one here.
- 2:06:22Speaker 7: That ricocheted too quickly, too solidly to be a hit
- 2:06:27Speaker 7: by pitch.
- 2:06:29Speaker 2: And that hit the barrel of the bat. And Peters
- 2:06:32Speaker 2: with the delayed reaction.
- 2:06:34Speaker 11: Ow, ow.
- 2:06:35Speaker 2: I think it got me. Well after that ball was
- 2:06:40Speaker 2: out of play. Well, he just lost his nomination.
- 2:06:46Speaker 7: For the Academy Awards because he's already put the padded
- 2:06:49Speaker 7: clothes back on. And when you play for the Savannah Bananas,
- 2:06:52Speaker 7: acting is part of that deal. So he's got that
- 2:06:55Speaker 7: in his back pocket.
- 2:06:58Speaker 2: Why is this taking so long? You know what that means?
- 2:07:03Speaker 2: He'll be a hit by pitch. You're right, though. He's
- 2:07:08Speaker 2: ready to hit.
- 2:07:09Speaker 12: I think he's wondering what's going on.
- 2:07:13Speaker 2: Foster Griffin.
- 2:07:14Speaker 12: Is going to take some warm-up tosses here while they
- 2:07:18Speaker 12: sort this out in New York on the replay review.
- 2:07:21Speaker 12: It's 4-1 Cleveland. We're in the bottom half of the
- 2:07:24Speaker 12: fourth inning. White Sox have a leadoff base runner at second.
- 2:07:28Speaker 2: Here we go. Call the field.
- 2:07:29Speaker 11: He's overturned.
- 2:07:29Speaker 12: It is a foul ball.
- 2:07:30Speaker 2: Cleveland has two remaining.
- 2:07:32Speaker 15: There we go.
- 2:07:33Speaker 12: Nicely done by the replay review guys. Led by Gunnar
- 2:07:37Speaker 12: Wilhelmi in that Guardians replay review room. A windowless room.
- 2:07:43Speaker 12: All they have to do is try and focus on
- 2:07:45Speaker 12: the game, and they never miss. And a good one
- 2:07:48Speaker 12: right there to overturn it. Will Venable came out, had
- 2:07:53Speaker 12: a few words for the umpires. I wonder if they're challenging...
- 2:07:56Speaker 12: Wait a minute, now he asked if the umpires are
- 2:08:00Speaker 12: going to meet.
- 2:08:06Speaker 2: This is interesting.
- 2:08:12Speaker 12: As the umpires all convene, including the down-the-line umpires in
- 2:08:16Speaker 12: left and right, and they're all meeting between the mound
- 2:08:19Speaker 12: and home plate.
- 2:08:21Speaker 7: Chicago is challenging that there was catcher's interference.
- 2:08:25Speaker 2: How about that?
- 2:08:26Speaker 12: How many challenges can you get on one play, huh?
- 2:08:34Speaker 12: I guess more than one. So, it goes back to
- 2:08:39Speaker 12: New York. Those guys are headed out for pizza. They said,
- 2:08:41Speaker 12: we got our job done, but they got to come back.
- 2:08:47Speaker 12: And they're now going to review whether it was catcher's
- 2:08:50Speaker 12: interference on Patrick Bailey and the fans here just got
- 2:08:54Speaker 12: a look at it.
- 2:08:55Speaker 2: They think so.
- 2:09:00Speaker 12: But did it hit the bat first?
- 2:09:04Speaker 2: The ball hit the bat first before. Boy, Rosie. You're
- 2:09:13Speaker 2: on your own. Okay. I completely agree and disagree.
- 2:09:22Speaker 7: Meanwhile, Foster Griffin has a complete game going on warm-up pitches.
- 2:09:26Speaker 2: There is no catcher's interference. Chicago has one challenge remaining. Well,
- 2:09:30Speaker 2: a double win for the Guardians on replays.
- 2:09:32Speaker 12: Remember, you do get one extra challenge in postseason, and
- 2:09:37Speaker 12: so the White Sox, even though they lost that challenge,
- 2:09:40Speaker 12: still have one left.
- 2:09:42Speaker 13: Wow.
- 2:09:43Speaker 7: Still there on ABS challenges, but haven't emptied the piggy
- 2:09:48Speaker 7: bank yet of all challenges.
- 2:09:51Speaker 12: So after all that, here comes the 1-1 pitch to Peters.
- 2:09:55Speaker 12: Ace swings and misses for strike two. Good breaking ball
- 2:09:58Speaker 12: from Griffin. Foster Griffin maintaining his poise during all this.
- 2:10:06Speaker 12: Runner at second. Nobody out. The 1-2 to Peters. Down low.
- 2:10:12Speaker 12: Good stop on pitch in the third by Bailey. 2-2
- 2:10:17Speaker 12: to count.
- 2:10:20Speaker 2: 4-1 Cleveland in front.
- 2:10:23Speaker 12: A game they have to win to extend their season
- 2:10:26Speaker 12: and bring us back here tomorrow. Here's the 2-2. Swung
- 2:10:33Speaker 12: on and tapped foul at home plate. They'll do it
- 2:10:36Speaker 12: again on 2-2. And if they can somehow get it
- 2:10:41Speaker 12: back to Cleveland at game five, a progressive field will
- 2:10:44Speaker 12: be Saturday. At a time yet to be determined, but
- 2:10:48Speaker 12: if some other series are completed, could be a Saturday
- 2:10:52Speaker 12: night game. But that's a long way off. Now the 2-2.
- 2:10:59Speaker 12: Swung on, foul back. Just below our broadcast booth here
- 2:11:02Speaker 12: behind home plate. And we'll do it again on 2-2
- 2:11:07Speaker 12: to Tristan Peters. Outfield plays him to pull. Big gap
- 2:11:15Speaker 12: just to the left of center. The 2-2 from Griffin.
- 2:11:19Speaker 12: Swung on, popped him up, foul. That's off to the
- 2:11:23Speaker 12: third base side and out of play. And if it's
- 2:11:26Speaker 12: Tristan Peters and it's a lengthy at-bat, of course it
- 2:11:28Speaker 12: is because it's Peters at the plate. He had an
- 2:11:31Speaker 12: 18-pitch at-bat in a regular season game against Gavin Williams
- 2:11:35Speaker 12: back in Cleveland. Number eight in this at-bat coming.
- 2:11:40Speaker 2: Here it is.
- 2:11:41Speaker 12: And it's swung on and fouled back. So a ninth
- 2:11:44Speaker 12: pitch is coming. And you can just feel the fan
- 2:11:49Speaker 12: sensing this. Again, Sean Armstrong loosening in the Guardians' bullpen.
- 2:11:58Speaker 12: Here comes Griffins.
- 2:11:59Speaker 13: 2-2 pitch.
- 2:12:03Speaker 12: Swung on, and that's lined to left center field. He
- 2:12:05Speaker 12: gets down for a base hit near the gap. Scoring
- 2:12:08Speaker 12: is my draw. On his way to second is Peters.
- 2:12:11Speaker 12: He is in with a stand-up RBI double. It's now
- 2:12:16Speaker 12: the Guardians for the White Sox, too. What an at-bat
- 2:12:25Speaker 12: for Peters. He really made Griffin work. And then he
- 2:12:30Speaker 12: finally got a slider. And stayed on it and flipped
- 2:12:35Speaker 12: it in the left center for a double. Now Braden Montgomery.
- 2:12:42Speaker 12: The switch hitter will stand in from the right side.
- 2:12:47Speaker 12: Here's the pitch from Griffin.
- 2:12:49Speaker 2: Swung on.
- 2:12:49Speaker 12: Foul back and out of play. And they weren't gone long,
- 2:12:54Speaker 12: but the crowd's back in it.
- 2:13:01Speaker 2: Griffin.
- 2:13:02Speaker 12: That quieted this crowd for a little while. Now he
- 2:13:08Speaker 12: steps off, fakes a throw to second, but back safely
- 2:13:12Speaker 12: as Peters with no throw. Back-to-back doubles have started the inning. 0-1,
- 2:13:23Speaker 12: swing and a miss. Tied him up in tight with
- 2:13:26Speaker 12: a cutter. Only at 90, but it just shows good command,
- 2:13:30Speaker 12: great location can really be an asset. And a little
- 2:13:34Speaker 12: late movement, too, as he got it in on the hands.
- 2:13:38Speaker 12: So it's 0-2 on Montgomery who had that big double
- 2:13:41Speaker 12: in game two. That turned things around for the White Sox.
- 2:13:48Speaker 12: He had been a hot hitter the last two weeks
- 2:13:50Speaker 12: of the regular season. Here's the pitch to him. Waved
- 2:13:55Speaker 12: at and missed. Yes, he went too far trying to
- 2:13:59Speaker 12: check his swing on a high fastball. Strikeout number seven
- 2:14:04Speaker 12: for Griffin. A huge strikeout and it will be his last.
- 2:14:09Speaker 12: As manager Steven Vogt is on his way to the mound.
- 2:14:12Speaker 12: But what a job by Foster Griffin. Came on in
- 2:14:16Speaker 12: the first, he'll leave in the fourth. With the Guardians

- 2:16:20Speaker 12: Guardians up 4-2. Sean Armstrong has come on to pitch.
- 2:16:24Speaker 12: With a runner at second in Tristan Peters.
- 2:16:26Speaker 7: One out.
- 2:16:27Speaker 12: Bottom of the fourth inning. Armstrong spent a good deal
- 2:16:32Speaker 12: of time this year on the injured list. The last
- 2:16:35Speaker 12: time with a pretty serious calf injury. But he came
- 2:16:38Speaker 12: back right at the tail end of the season. And
- 2:16:41Speaker 12: has been terrific since. And he's on to face Randall Gritchick.
- 2:16:45Speaker 12: Right on right. Here's the pitch from Armstrong. And it's
- 2:16:51Speaker 12: down low and outside for ball one. Gritchick pulverizes lefties.
- 2:16:57Speaker 12: So Stephen Goat goes to the right-hander right here to
- 2:17:00Speaker 12: try and neutralize that. And Will Venable stays with Gritchick.
- 2:17:04Speaker 12: No pinch hitter here. Now the 1-0. Swung on and
- 2:17:10Speaker 12: that's lifted high and deep to left. But plenty of
- 2:17:13Speaker 12: room for Martinez who makes the catch shy of the
- 2:17:16Speaker 12: warning track. Back to second. Goes Peters, and there's two down.
- 2:17:23Speaker 12: Just for a moment when it left the bat, looked
- 2:17:25Speaker 12: like it might carry further, but Richick may have caught
- 2:17:28Speaker 12: that off the end. And he's retired. Number nine hitter
- 2:17:34Speaker 12: Colson Montgomery steps in. Big time power threat. Finished the
- 2:17:39Speaker 12: year with 31 home runs. As a home run, couple
- 2:17:44Speaker 12: of runs driven in in the postseason for Chicago. Here's
- 2:17:48Speaker 12: the pitch from Armstrong. and it's swung on, fouled back,
- 2:17:52Speaker 12: and just off the post between our booth and our
- 2:17:56Speaker 12: good buddies on the White Sox radio side, Len Casper
- 2:18:00Speaker 12: and Darren Jackson. DJ would have made that catch. He
- 2:18:03Speaker 12: was a former big leaguer, utility guy, played everywhere. Here
- 2:18:09Speaker 12: comes the 0-1 pitch.
- 2:18:12Speaker 2: And it's just inside.
- 2:18:14Speaker 12: No.
- 2:18:15Speaker 2: A non-check swing. Tried to check it. Couldn't do it.
- 2:18:18Speaker 12: He went too far for a strike. And it's 0-2
- 2:18:21Speaker 12: on Colson Montgomery. 227 strikeouts in the regular season. A
- 2:18:29Speaker 12: new single season major league record.
- 2:18:33Speaker 25: But.
- 2:18:34Speaker 12: Because of the production home run-wise and RBI-wise, you live
- 2:18:38Speaker 12: with that and hope that he can cut that down
- 2:18:41Speaker 12: as he gains more experience.
- 2:18:45Speaker 2: Here's the 0-2. Swing and a miss. Strike three.
- 2:18:49Speaker 12: Great work again by Sean Armstrong as he works out
- 2:18:52Speaker 12: of it with no further damage. And we will head
- 2:18:55Speaker 12: to the fifth. It's the Guardians for the White Sox, too.
- 2:18:59Speaker 2: Hi, it's Ron Furb. Hey, it's Ron Verb, and I'll
- 2:19:03Speaker 2: be bringing the heat every afternoon at 3 on 570 WKBN.
- 2:19:14Speaker 2: We head to the fifth.
- 2:19:16Speaker 12: Guardians leading by a score of 4-2 here in Chicago
- 2:19:19Speaker 12: in a game they have to have, literally, as they
- 2:19:23Speaker 12: are trying to extend their season. Trailing in the best
- 2:19:27Speaker 12: of five American League Division Series. Two games to none.
- 2:19:32Speaker 12: But leading here today, 4-2. For anyone who wants to
- 2:19:36Speaker 12: end cancer, VeloSano is a fundraising movement to support life-saving
- 2:19:40Speaker 12: cancer research at Cleveland Clinic. Donate today and learn more
- 2:19:43Speaker 12: at VeloSano.org. Top of the lineup, Stephen Kwan will lead
- 2:19:48Speaker 12: things off, facing the tall left-hander, Noah Schultz. Schultz came
- 2:19:55Speaker 12: on to start last inning. Worked around a walk. Faced
- 2:20:00Speaker 12: just the three batters with a double play worked in there.
- 2:20:03Speaker 12: Now Kwon, the pitch to him. And it's a breaking
- 2:20:06Speaker 12: ball strike. Kwon with an RBI base hit in two trips.
- 2:20:12Speaker 12: He tied the game with that single last inning. Excuse me,
- 2:20:15Speaker 12: in the third inning. Guardians went on to score three
- 2:20:18Speaker 12: more on a triple with the bases loaded from Joe Adele.
- 2:20:22Speaker 12: Next pitch, low and outside for a ball.
- 2:20:24Speaker 2: One and one.
- 2:20:26Speaker 12: That four-run inning, the difference... And a 4-2 Guardians lead. Schultz,
- 2:20:33Speaker 12: the fourth pitcher today for the Sox. And we're only
- 2:20:35Speaker 12: in the fifth. Here's the pitch.
- 2:20:38Speaker 2: Swung on.
- 2:20:38Speaker 12: Looped foul out of play. Third base side. But that's
- 2:20:44Speaker 12: the M.O. for the White Sox. I'll tell you what, Rosie.
- 2:20:50Speaker 12: You better not be happy with four runs. You better add.
- 2:20:55Speaker 12: Here's the one-two. Waved at and missed. Strike three. Good
- 2:20:59Speaker 12: breaking ball. And again, that's no slight to the Guardians' bullpen,
- 2:21:04Speaker 12: which is terrific. We've seen it here. The whole lead
- 2:21:09Speaker 12: is safe, and they can put up runs in a hurry.
- 2:21:14Speaker 12: Now Jose Ramirez, he's lined to left and walked in
- 2:21:18Speaker 12: two trips. Here's the pitch from Schultz, and it's a
- 2:21:26Speaker 12: strike on the outside corner. And the Guardians, they start
- 2:21:33Speaker 12: at Daniel Espino, who pitched two-thirds of an inning, and
- 2:21:37Speaker 12: then great work by Foster Griffin. They get the game
- 2:21:41Speaker 12: to the fourth. Here's the pitch, and it's swung on,
- 2:21:43Speaker 12: ripped to third. Fireball down the line it goes. Retrieved
- 2:21:47Speaker 12: quickly by Gritchick, but on his way to second is Ramirez,
- 2:21:50Speaker 12: and Jose Ramirez is on at second base with a
- 2:21:54Speaker 12: stand-up double. And, Tom, that's two line drives, hard-hit balls
- 2:21:58Speaker 12: from Jose today.
- 2:22:00Speaker 7: And, again, he's compromised with that left hand and wrist
- 2:22:05Speaker 7: impacted by the hammy bone surgery.
- 2:22:08Speaker 2: We know that.
- 2:22:11Speaker 12: But if he doesn't try and do too much, he
- 2:22:13Speaker 12: can still beat you in so many ways. And now
- 2:22:17Speaker 12: he's on base for Chase DeLauder. The pitch from Schultz,
- 2:22:21Speaker 12: down low for a ball. And don't be surprised if
- 2:22:23Speaker 12: he steals third. He'll always go in key spots, and
- 2:22:29Speaker 12: with only one down, it would mean a lot. Colson
- 2:22:33Speaker 12: Montgomery knows he's shortstop sneaking in near him, the pitch.
- 2:22:38Speaker 12: And it's on the outside corner for a strike. Certainly
- 2:22:42Speaker 12: Ramirez and what he does on the base is top
- 2:22:45Speaker 12: of mind for the White Sox. Sometimes that doesn't always matter.
- 2:22:49Speaker 12: Ramirez can steal a bag anyway. There he goes. And
- 2:22:56Speaker 12: the pitch is outside. The throw down is not in time.
- 2:23:00Speaker 12: He's safe with a stolen base. They knew it was
- 2:23:05Speaker 12: coming and it didn't matter. Ramirez with an excellent jump.
- 2:23:12Speaker 12: And he steals third and now we'll see if the
- 2:23:14Speaker 12: Guardians are able to take advantage. With Ramirez at third
- 2:23:19Speaker 12: less than two down. The count on the lottery is
- 2:23:29Speaker 12: two and one. Chase the lottery over two today. Couple
- 2:23:34Speaker 12: of ground outs. Now the 2-1 pitch.
- 2:23:41Speaker 2: Infield in. And it's swung on. Grounded to the second baseman.
- 2:23:44Speaker 2: Grabbed by Mindroth. Throws home.
- 2:23:46Speaker 13: Safe for the.
- 2:23:47Speaker 2: Head first slide is Ramirez.
- 2:23:50Speaker 12: He made it ahead of the throw by Mindroth, the
- 2:23:52Speaker 12: second baseman, who was in. But it did not matter
- 2:23:58Speaker 12: because of the break by Ramirez and the head first slide.
- 2:24:02Speaker 2: 5-2 Cleveland.
- 2:24:08Speaker 12: He manufactured a run. Who else but Jose with an
- 2:24:13Speaker 12: infield drawn in. Delotta at first. Joe Adele the batter.
- 2:24:21Speaker 12: Here's the pitch. And it's outside for ball one.
- 2:24:25Speaker 2: And, Rosie, the.
- 2:24:25Speaker 12: Difference today, Cleveland's getting people on base with less than
- 2:24:30Speaker 12: two out. It's hard to have a run game if
- 2:24:36Speaker 12: you can't get on first. Here's the pitch to Adele. Ah,
- 2:24:40Speaker 12: the outside corner for a strike, which is really a
- 2:24:43Speaker 12: deep thought, isn't it?
- 2:24:50Speaker 2: Well, it is postseason. We need this type of hard-hitting commentary.
- 2:24:54Speaker 2: Here comes the 1-1. The pitch.
- 2:25:00Speaker 12: Breaking ball down low. Adele with a huge... three-run triple
- 2:25:09Speaker 12: back in the third inning. Slapped it down the right
- 2:25:13Speaker 12: field line between the bag and the first baseman Murakami.
- 2:25:17Speaker 12: The 2-1. Outside and high, 3-1. And look, we've seen
- 2:25:22Speaker 12: the power of Joe Adele, but when he has an
- 2:25:27Speaker 12: opportunity to really make a play and try and grab
- 2:25:33Speaker 12: an extra base, he can fly out there, and he
- 2:25:35Speaker 12: was flying on the triple. Here's the 3-1 It's outside,
- 2:25:39Speaker 12: ball four. The Guardians hitters continue to be patient enough.
- 2:25:47Speaker 12: And we talked about it, Rosie, excuse me. The one
- 2:25:51Speaker 12: thing they have not been as uncomfortable at all this postseason.
- 2:25:55Speaker 12: They just blitzed Houston. They were, even though down to
- 2:26:00Speaker 12: nothing against Cleveland, they've controlled the first two games of
- 2:26:04Speaker 12: the division series well. Now there's some pressure on them
- 2:26:08Speaker 12: and now they're having to fight some adversity for the
- 2:26:11Speaker 12: first time in postseason.
- 2:26:13Speaker 2: Nathaniel Lowe the batter.
- 2:26:15Speaker 12: Here's the pitch. Swung on, drilled foul outside of third base. Well,
- 2:26:24Speaker 12: the Guardians certainly have had their fair share in the
- 2:26:27Speaker 12: first two games. Adversity that is and It did not
- 2:26:32Speaker 12: go well at home for Cleveland, but so far today
- 2:26:35Speaker 12: they're up 5-2.
- 2:26:36Speaker 2: Here's the pitch.
- 2:26:37Speaker 12: And Lowe pops it up foul behind the Sox dugout
- 2:26:41Speaker 12: on the third base side. And it's 0-2 on Nathaniel Lowe.
- 2:26:45Speaker 7: And it's why the regular season means nothing when it
- 2:26:48Speaker 7: comes to October. Chicago was a terrible road team this year.
- 2:26:54Speaker 7: Great at home. They haven't lost on the road yet.
- 2:26:59Speaker 2: The 0-2. Lowe slaps it foul off the netting third
- 2:27:02Speaker 2: base side.
- 2:27:06Speaker 7: It's just two different worlds, isn't it? April through September
- 2:27:12Speaker 7: as compared to October.
- 2:27:17Speaker 2: Here's the 0-2. Outside and Lowe. Well, you look at
- 2:27:21Speaker 2: the Guardians.
- 2:27:22Speaker 12: They played great in September, so you think, oh, well,
- 2:27:26Speaker 12: that'll continue into October, but Boy, it just seems like
- 2:27:30Speaker 12: it's a complete reset. And you have to figure out
- 2:27:33Speaker 12: a way to get that going again. Here's the 1-2.
- 2:27:38Speaker 12: Swung on. Looped foul again. Third base side. Guardians with
- 2:27:47Speaker 12: that 5-2 advantage on this beautiful late afternoon. Almost early
- 2:27:52Speaker 12: evening now in Chicago. Here's the pitch. Swung on, slapped
- 2:27:58Speaker 12: to the third baseman, grabbed by Vargas. He caught it
- 2:28:02Speaker 12: off his shoe tops and alertly back to second goes
- 2:28:05Speaker 12: De Lauder. Adele back to first and there's two down.
- 2:28:11Speaker 2: Now Angel Martinez, can he rein it in a little bit?
- 2:28:15Speaker 12: As he's been swinging wildly at a lot of pitches
- 2:28:17Speaker 12: outside the strike zone, not only today, but in the series.
- 2:28:22Speaker 12: He's 0 for 10 in the series with six strikeouts,
- 2:28:24Speaker 12: including two today. He stands in from the right side.
- 2:28:30Speaker 12: Terrific last two months of the season for Martinez. The
- 2:28:33Speaker 12: pitch to him. He swings and skies a foul outside
- 2:28:37Speaker 12: of third. He just cannot stay back.
- 2:28:42Speaker 7: He looks like he's swinging from the moment the ball
- 2:28:44Speaker 7: leaves the pitcher's hand, no matter where it is.
- 2:28:50Speaker 12: Facing left-hander Noah Schultz. With the Guardians up 5-2, the
- 2:28:54Speaker 12: pitch to him is swung on and tapped back to
- 2:28:56Speaker 12: the mound. An easy play for Schultz, whose shot puts
- 2:28:59Speaker 12: it over to first for the out. Martinez retired, so
- 2:29:03Speaker 12: are the Guardians, but they add a run thanks to
- 2:29:05Speaker 12: Jose Ramirez. The wheels and alert base running, and they
- 2:29:09Speaker 12: lead it 5-2 over the White Sox, heading to the
- 2:29:12Speaker 12: bottom half of the fifth.
- 2:29:14Speaker 44: Our fantasy commish says for him it's all about the friendships. Cute,

- 2:31:01Speaker 2: every afternoon at 3 on 570 WKBN.
- 2:31:07Speaker 12: Well, we head to the bottom half of the fifth inning.
- 2:31:10Speaker 12: Guardians with a 5-2 lead. Joey Cantillo comes on to
- 2:31:14Speaker 12: pitch for the Guardians. Thought we'd see him at some
- 2:31:17Speaker 12: point today, and here he is in the bottom of
- 2:31:20Speaker 12: the fifth inning trying to protect a three-run advantage. Most
- 2:31:23Speaker 12: of the year a starter, and a good season it
- 2:31:25Speaker 12: was for Cantillo. Finished 11-9 with an earned run average
- 2:31:30Speaker 12: of 3.62.
- 2:31:30Speaker 2: 30 starts, and then.
- 2:31:35Speaker 12: Three relief outings after Espino, who started today, Daniel Espino.
- 2:31:40Speaker 12: He opened for Cantillo in his last three appearances. And
- 2:31:45Speaker 12: Cantillo worked 15 innings, didn't allow a run in those appearances.
- 2:31:48Speaker 12: So it worked out well then. And we'll see how
- 2:31:52Speaker 12: he fares here today. As it's a left-on-left spot, top
- 2:31:56Speaker 12: of the lineup, Sam Antonacci leading things off for the
- 2:32:00Speaker 12: White Sox.
- 2:32:06Speaker 2: And Antonacci, I.
- 2:32:07Speaker 12: Don't know if he was awarded time. The umpire at
- 2:32:15Speaker 12: home plate, Todd Tishner, said, hey, that's my time. He
- 2:32:19Speaker 12: wants to make sure Cantillo and Antonacci are all set
- 2:32:22Speaker 12: to go. Now they are. And Cantillo delivers. And his
- 2:32:28Speaker 12: first pitch is a fastball strike on the outside corner.
- 2:32:32Speaker 12: And a fastball from Cantillo, but the bread and butter
- 2:32:35Speaker 12: for Joey Cantillo. A tremendous curveball and an outstanding changeup.
- 2:32:40Speaker 12: But when he can use that fastball to set them up,
- 2:32:45Speaker 12: that plays well also, but he's got to command it well.
- 2:32:49Speaker 12: And that first fastball was 94 miles an hour. Here's
- 2:32:54Speaker 12: his 0-1. Breaking ball waved at and missed, and quickly
- 2:32:58Speaker 12: it's 0-2. And that's what he can do to the
- 2:33:01Speaker 12: left-handed batters, just tie them up and knots and make
- 2:33:05Speaker 12: them look bad on the breaking stuff. Antonacci has walked
- 2:33:09Speaker 12: and been hit by a pitch. Here comes Cantillo's 0-2 delivery.
- 2:33:18Speaker 12: Swung on, ground ball near the middle, on through, base hit.
- 2:33:23Speaker 12: Antonacci aboard with a leadoff single on an 0-2 curveball
- 2:33:27Speaker 12: that looked like it stayed up there.
- 2:33:28Speaker 2: A little bit.
- 2:33:34Speaker 12: Here come the Sox again. Miguel Vargas will step in.
- 2:33:41Speaker 12: One for two. A single back in the first inning.
- 2:33:45Speaker 12: When the White Sox took the early lead on an
- 2:33:48Speaker 12: RBI double from Kyle Teal. And the Guardians scored four
- 2:33:52Speaker 12: in the third to turn it around. Now the pitch
- 2:33:56Speaker 12: to Vargas. Outside for ball one. White Sox came closer.
- 2:34:03Speaker 12: On an RBI double by Tristan Peters in the bottom
- 2:34:05Speaker 12: of the fourth. Guardians scored in the top half of
- 2:34:08Speaker 12: this inning to make it 5-2. Here's the pitch. Breaking
- 2:34:13Speaker 12: ball just upstairs for ball two. And these fans are
- 2:34:25Speaker 12: starting to get riled up again. Some on their feet
- 2:34:30Speaker 12: as the 2-0 is on its way from Cantillo. Upstairs,
- 2:34:34Speaker 12: ball three, and now more come to their feet. And
- 2:34:41Speaker 12: this will be the key for Cantillo. At times, he
- 2:34:44Speaker 12: can struggle with his command.
- 2:34:45Speaker 2: He knows it.
- 2:34:47Speaker 12: He knows if he can throw strikes consistently, how effective
- 2:34:50Speaker 12: he can be. The 3-0 inside ball four. Two on,
- 2:34:58Speaker 12: nobody out on a single and a walk. And now
- 2:35:03Speaker 12: Munataka Murakami as the tying run at the plate. Left
- 2:35:12Speaker 12: on left. Murakami with the 35 home runs. Hit 56
- 2:35:22Speaker 12: in one of his seasons in Japan. He stands in
- 2:35:32Speaker 12: from the left side. Here's Cantillo's pitch. Fastball strike on
- 2:35:38Speaker 12: the outside corner. Much needed from Joey Cantillo. Gunataka today
- 2:35:44Speaker 12: 0 for 2. Couple of strikeouts. Big home run though
- 2:35:48Speaker 12: in game one. That was the difference. Here's the 0-1.
- 2:35:54Speaker 12: Outside and low for a ball.
- 2:35:56Speaker 5: 1-1.
- 2:35:56Speaker 2: Murakami.
- 2:36:00Speaker 15: Murakami.
- 2:36:02Speaker 12: He said, look, when I came to the United States,
- 2:36:04Speaker 12: I wanted to play for a team that could win.
- 2:36:06Speaker 12: A lot of people thought, well, why would you sign
- 2:36:08Speaker 12: with the White Sox? And he said there were some
- 2:36:12Speaker 12: things he saw that he liked, and he felt that
- 2:36:15Speaker 12: they could win here.
- 2:36:17Speaker 2: Here's the 1-1. Swung on, fouled back into the net.
- 2:36:24Speaker 12: If he, Homer, is here, he'll have his own deep
- 2:36:26Speaker 12: dish pizza named after him in about three hours.
- 2:36:33Speaker 2: Would you sing a lot? They love him already, but
- 2:36:36Speaker 2: that would take it to a new level.
- 2:36:39Speaker 12: He's something. Here comes the one two. Swung on and
- 2:36:44Speaker 12: there's a slow ground ball hit to the second baseman.
- 2:36:46Speaker 12: Bizana he fields throws to first high but pulled down
- 2:36:50Speaker 12: by low in time for the out. Murakami advances the
- 2:36:55Speaker 12: base runners to second and third with one down. Well,
- 2:37:00Speaker 12: you'll take that. Yes, it was a productive out, but
- 2:37:04Speaker 12: you keep him in the ballpark. And now Kyle Teal
- 2:37:07Speaker 12: will step in. Teal, RBI double and a strikeout in
- 2:37:14Speaker 12: two trips. Another left-on-left spot. Here's the pitch. Swung on,
- 2:37:22Speaker 12: and there is a line drive to second. Caught by Bazana.
- 2:37:27Speaker 12: Throws back to second in time. What a play by Bazana,
- 2:37:33Speaker 12: who caught the line drive, and then he catches the
- 2:37:36Speaker 12: base runner, Vargas, off the bag at second. And just
- 2:37:40Speaker 12: like that, Cantillo works out of the jam. As the
- 2:37:45Speaker 12: White Sox were looking to put it together in the fifth,
- 2:37:48Speaker 12: they are denied, and we head to the sixth.
- 2:37:51Speaker 2: It is still 5-2 Cleveland.
