- 0:27Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. OK, let's talk about best
- 0:32practices today, and let's talk about having peaceful practices
- 0:37as part of our routine. So myself, like many of you,
- 0:43don't sit still. I don't sit still.
- 0:45And sometimes it's really hard to say, do I have peaceful
- 0:49practices? Years ago when this question was
- 0:52asked of me, I was like, hmm, that's interesting.
- 0:54Do I have peaceful practices? And I couldn't.
- 0:57I actually couldn't sort it out. I actually had to start like,
- 1:01you know, put myself into that little vault and start thinking
- 1:03about this because I'm like, well, I don't know, I really
- 1:05don't sit still. And to me, peaceful practices
- 1:08were a lot of maybe reading, which I do, but I don't feel
- 1:15like my reading is so peaceful. Because I only read books that
- 1:19I'm learning from. I don't like to read books that
- 1:21are just stories. I gave those up a long time ago
- 1:25because I felt like, yeah, they're cool and I like it for a
- 1:28period of time. But then I feel like, oh, if I
- 1:31had invested all that time into something I could have learned,
- 1:34it just takes me down a different Rd.
- 1:36So peaceful practices with reading wasn't something that
- 1:38was there. I was doing it actively to
- 1:40learn, so I had to figure out well.
- 1:43You know what is it even walking like, you know, any of my
- 1:46regular listeners know I walk a ton all the time while I'm
- 1:50coaching. And so walking to me is head
- 1:54clearing. Is it peaceful?
- 1:56I And that word kept tripping me up and tripping me up.
- 1:59And I was like, well, I don't know.
- 2:00Is it peaceful? I mean, it can be peaceful if
- 2:03I'm just not working while I'm doing it.
- 2:05But no, when I'm doing it and I'm working, it's something
- 2:08completely different. So it kept.
- 2:10Like driving me in a different direction.
- 2:12It kept weirding me out, like I couldn't figure it out.
- 2:15And then I got a handle on the fact that the peaceful practice
- 2:19is whatever I decide to label it as.
- 2:22I could come in and I could say, well, planting the garden could
- 2:26be peaceful. This could be something that
- 2:27it's like I'm in that energy and I could say, yes, I'm in
- 2:31creation, but that's peaceful for me.
- 2:33That's a place where I bring it in.
- 2:36I could attach this to other things.
- 2:39And then I realized there are also some things that are
- 2:41genuinely like we could all agree are peaceful, where if I'm
- 2:44meditating and again, not a good meditator.
- 2:48I've said this before, not a good meditator.
- 2:50I like doing things that are. I consider mindful meditations
- 2:55where I'm doing something and just focusing on that one task
- 2:58like cleaning, doing dishes, gardening.
- 3:02Those, to me, are much more. Active in the sense that I can
- 3:08keep my mind steady, whereas if I just sit still, my brain is
- 3:12just all over the place. And through the years I've just
- 3:15learned that's not probably the most peaceful thing for me.
- 3:19But I still can keep working on it because it's something that I
- 3:22intend to get to conquer at some point in time.
- 3:26And every day I believe I get a little bit better and a little
- 3:28bit better. However, saying that, did I
- 3:31consider it peaceful? No, it was chaos in my head.
- 3:35So I I started to really work on creating peaceful things for
- 3:40myself. Peaceful little moments that I
- 3:43could bring in and have these peaceful practices where I just
- 3:47sit, close my eyes and I focus on something and calm my head
- 3:52back down. Now one of the biggest assets in
- 3:55this is being able to record yourself, saying something to
- 3:59yourself and then listening back to it.
- 4:01So you're just sitting. You're completely in a peaceful
- 4:03state. You put your ear.
- 4:04Buds in and you listen to something that you've recorded
- 4:08to yourself. Boy, does that work quickly in
- 4:11bringing you back. So I have a bunch of different
- 4:14voice memos that I keep for myself.
- 4:16And if I'm off base, I can just sit, I can close my eyes, I can
- 4:21listen to myself and it brings me right back because when I
- 4:24recorded them, I was in a very, very, you know, directed state
- 4:28for whatever they're for. So if I'm going into creativity,
- 4:31I have one for that. If I'm going into wanting to sit
- 4:35down and write, I have one for that.
- 4:37I've got a bunch of different ones, including one That's when
- 4:40I'm mad at my husband. Listen to this because it
- 4:42reminds me of the fact that he's a good person, not just the
- 4:46person I am irritated with in that moment.
- 4:49But it takes effort to set these up.
- 4:51So peaceful practices. It is imperative to have these
- 4:55going into the holiday season because you need to be
- 4:58surrounded by the fact that you have control over this, nobody
- 5:03else. And if you allow others to
- 5:04control it, then you are giving up your power.
- 5:07And we don't want to do that because ultimately we have the
- 5:10power for what goes on in our head.
- 5:11So I'm going to tell you, get your peaceful practices
- 5:14together. Figure out what they are.
- 5:16Have one for the car that works quickly so that when you're
- 5:20going to somebody'd house or going to an event, you can get
- 5:23yourself collected while you're in the car, and then by the time
- 5:26you get there you're in a way better state of mind.
- 5:30And you can just get out of the car and you're ready to go.
- 5:32But set yourself up to win, my friends.
- 5:34Get those peaceful practices now.
- 5:36Put them in play. Because I promise you, they are
- 5:38the handiest things that you could ever have around.
- 5:41OK, my friends, I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:44Have a blessed day. Bye.
