- 1:49Speaker 3: All right, so you know we are here in Atlanta,
- 1:52Speaker 3: and there is a lot of things going on in
- 1:54Speaker 3: Atlanta currently. It is not just SEC Media Days. There
- 1:58Speaker 3: is a two night beyond Hustle on a bus come
- 2:01Speaker 3: cert out of the traffic was brutal. There was a
- 2:04Speaker 3: WWE event as well. There's the MLB All Star Game
- 2:09Speaker 3: and there's also the MLB Draft. So a lot going
- 2:12Speaker 3: on here in Atlanta. I mean, Beyonce, was I say
- 2:17Speaker 3: the like of the things like you're able to attend?
- 2:19Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know which one I would choose.
- 2:22Speaker 3: So maybe we walked R and B Thursdays. Is there
- 2:25Speaker 3: for a reason I got some deep love for R
- 2:27Speaker 3: and b.
- 2:28Speaker 2: So we walked in the hotel yesterday to check in,
- 2:30Speaker 2: and by the check in there's this red carpet with
- 2:34Speaker 2: a spotlight and Beyonce just sitting at the end of
- 2:38Speaker 2: the red carpet. I was like, oh my god, Oh
- 2:40Speaker 2: that's a cardboard cutout and it was just like right
- 2:42Speaker 2: in the middle of the lobby. And we didn't know
- 2:44Speaker 2: at this time that there was a Beyonce concert, and
- 2:46Speaker 2: I was like, hmm, that's a strange thing to have
- 2:48Speaker 2: just sitting around. So we're checking in and all of
- 2:51Speaker 2: a sudden, I see, you know, I see someone with
- 2:53Speaker 2: a cowboy hat on and a like a sparkly skirt.
- 2:56Speaker 2: I see another cowboy hat. All of a sudden, I'm like,
- 2:59Speaker 2: this is the cant this is uh, this is a thing.
- 3:02Speaker 2: What is happening around here? And of course I think
- 3:04Speaker 2: Beyonce the did like two or three night concert. I
- 3:07Speaker 2: don't know if it ended last night, but there was certainly.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I think one more night. Yeah, there's one more night,
- 3:12Speaker 3: because I'm pretty sure that my bosses at Sirius XM,
- 3:18Speaker 3: they said that they were all going to find a
- 3:19Speaker 3: way to go, like they were like, wait a minute, did.
- 3:22Speaker 2: They thought, did they make it.
- 3:23Speaker 3: I know.
- 3:23Speaker 2: We were looking at ticket prices yesterday.
- 3:24Speaker 3: So they're going to go tonight.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, so it's gonna end on a Monday night maybe?
- 3:30Speaker 3: Is that what today is? On a Monday?
- 3:33Speaker 2: That's any right? So we had the sports bar yesterday
- 3:35Speaker 2: we were at at the hotel. There was like one
- 3:37Speaker 2: of those pop up boutique cowboy hat custom cowboy hats.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Couldn't convince Jake to get one.
- 3:44Speaker 3: I told you they would have to cut two of them, ye,
- 3:47Speaker 3: kind of in half and sew it all together.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yeah you too though, Oh for sure. They had a
- 3:52Speaker 2: cup the top off so it fit down.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I'm not the only I'm not the only
- 3:58Speaker 3: heady Murphy here, I know.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And then no, it was it like a big They're
- 4:02Speaker 2: just like weirdly shaped too. That's why our old pictures
- 4:06Speaker 2: of us, like, you know, look at the captain's picture
- 4:08Speaker 2: of us walking onto the field for the National Championship.
- 4:10Speaker 2: We just have these big red dots.
- 4:12Speaker 3: On our head. We got the Peyton Manning dot.
- 4:14Speaker 2: I don't know why, Like I never had that in
- 4:15Speaker 2: the NFL. Why couldn't we figure out our helmet situation?
- 4:17Speaker 3: I never had the next level either.
- 4:19Speaker 2: I don't know, maybe just the pad technology improved from
- 4:23Speaker 2: seven to eight.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Maybe it did, or maybe Greg just didn't fit us, right,
- 4:27Speaker 3: I don't know. Do you tell me?
- 4:29Speaker 2: Come on, Greg, what are we doing? Why I used
- 4:33Speaker 2: to have to put second skin?
- 4:35Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 4:35Speaker 2: Remember that because in training camp is like I don't
- 4:38Speaker 2: know if I was like breaking in a brand new
- 4:40Speaker 2: like front pad and a helmet every single season. I
- 4:43Speaker 2: just wanted to use the same one from last yearcause
- 4:44Speaker 2: it was already broken in and it's it's not it's
- 4:47Speaker 2: like breaking into a you know, a leather pair of
- 4:49Speaker 2: shoes or something like that. It takes some time. It's
- 4:51Speaker 2: got a form to your head. But I would always
- 4:54Speaker 2: it always rub like a strawberry, like it was take
- 4:57Speaker 2: the skin off, and it was. That was one of
- 4:59Speaker 2: the most miserable things camp old Peyton Manning dot Yeah
- 5:02Speaker 2: what fun. But well anyway we got there.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Well, I bring up everything that's going on currently in
- 5:08Speaker 3: Atlanta because the MLB Draft was last night, and again
- 5:12Speaker 3: I understand what this trip is. This is all football
- 5:14Speaker 3: all the time, but certainly LSU baseball is something that
- 5:18Speaker 3: over the last couple of weeks and months we have
- 5:19Speaker 3: all enjoyed and we all know what LSU baseball means
- 5:23Speaker 3: to LSU fans, and so we certainly want to mention
- 5:27Speaker 3: and you know by now if you're a LSU baseball fan,
- 5:29Speaker 3: that there was multiple Tigers drafted. Now look later on
- 5:32Speaker 3: today the Hunt Palmer Show. Hunt is here this year.
- 5:35Speaker 3: He is going to break down all of the high
- 5:37Speaker 3: school players that were signed these to LSU and what
- 5:41Speaker 3: the likelihood is like Quentin Young and Dean Mawson. He's
- 5:44Speaker 3: going to break them all down, right. But here for
- 5:47Speaker 3: us on this show, we're going to talk about the
- 5:49Speaker 3: guys that we saw in Purple and Gold, the guys
- 5:51Speaker 3: that made the run and eventually won a national championship
- 5:54Speaker 3: there in Omaha. And the first player off the board
- 5:57Speaker 3: we thought he was going to go one on one,
- 6:00Speaker 3: he goes won three. Kate Anderson selected third overall by
- 6:03Speaker 3: the Seattle Mariners. Of course, Anderson led the nation with
- 6:06Speaker 3: one hundred and eighty strikeouts and one hundred and nineteen
- 6:09Speaker 3: innings during last season and was named the College World
- 6:12Speaker 3: Series Most Outstanding Player after his complete game shutout in
- 6:17Speaker 3: the finals. No surprise that Cad went incredibly high. The
- 6:21Speaker 3: only surprise is he went third, not one. But just
- 6:25Speaker 3: like we always talk about the MLB draft is just
- 6:27Speaker 3: its own beast, it's its own thing.
- 6:30Speaker 2: A lot yesterday watching that durt he probably did with
- 6:32Speaker 2: nigh spot.
- 6:32Speaker 3: Yeah, So the Nationals decided they'd rather save a couple
- 6:36Speaker 3: of million dollars and select a high school shortstop and
- 6:39Speaker 3: not select Kate Anderson because they kind of know, you know,
- 6:43Speaker 3: what it's going to cost to get Kate Anderson. Kate
- 6:45Speaker 3: Anderson has the ultimate leverage because he has a year
- 6:48Speaker 3: where he could go back to LSU, be dominant, and
- 6:51Speaker 3: be right back in the same situation. But they decide,
- 6:54Speaker 3: which is crazy to me in major league sports, baseball football, back,
- 6:59Speaker 3: that you would potentially miss out on a Kate Anderson
- 7:02Speaker 3: to save a couple million dollars, like in the scheme
- 7:06Speaker 3: of things, like the high school shortstop might be great,
- 7:09Speaker 3: he might suck. Yeah, so right, I mean, like, yeah,
- 7:13Speaker 3: you know, Kate and said, we don't know that Kate
- 7:14Speaker 3: Aerris is going to be great in the big leagues,
- 7:16Speaker 3: but we know Kate Anderson in the SEC, which is
- 7:19Speaker 3: like double A baseball basically dominated.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Right, And and we couldn't we were watching the draft yesterday,
- 7:25Speaker 2: we couldn't necessarily hear it, but we were watching it
- 7:27Speaker 2: at the little sports bar here, and so I did.
- 7:30Speaker 2: I learned a lot from Hunt and Miscona. They were
- 7:32Speaker 2: I didn't know. So in the MLB Draft there's a
- 7:35Speaker 2: slotted price value for for each slot, but a kid
- 7:39Speaker 2: can take less or they can pay it more on
- 7:42Speaker 2: that slot. So to save money, the Nationals take Eli Willitts,
- 7:46Speaker 2: shortstop out of high school in Oklahoma. Now they were
- 7:49Speaker 2: breaking him down like it's got kid's got an incredible swing.
- 7:52Speaker 2: It's like, looks like Bryce Harper out there, swinging like
- 7:56Speaker 2: swing with power, all the all the tangibles. But to
- 8:00Speaker 2: save money, and I believe that the slot for the
- 8:02Speaker 2: first pick they were telling me was about eleven million,
- 8:04Speaker 2: so they did. They saved around two point two two
- 8:06Speaker 2: ish million dollars by making that pick. So we'll see
- 8:12Speaker 2: how it works out. But of course Kate Anderson goes.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Hi goes to the Mariners on the third overall pick.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So excited for him, excited for his family, excited to
- 8:19Speaker 2: see what his his pitching path is going forward. We
- 8:23Speaker 2: expect big things out of him. So I don't know,
- 8:27Speaker 2: it was it was just exciting to exciting to watch.
- 8:29Speaker 3: So he goes third overall Chase Shores drafted forty seventh
- 8:34Speaker 3: overall by the La Angels, and we all know what
- 8:37Speaker 3: the potential of a Chase Shorts can be. Certainly saw
- 8:40Speaker 3: him find his way after having the injury missing a year.
- 8:43Speaker 3: You could tell with each in every appearance he was
- 8:45Speaker 3: only getting stronger and stronger. We all know how fast
- 8:48Speaker 3: he can throw the baseball. We talked about it often,
- 8:50Speaker 3: and Chase Shorts can find his way into an MLB bullpen,
- 8:54Speaker 3: I think really fast. I mean he feels like he
- 8:57Speaker 3: is as ready as anybody in this draft. We've heard
- 8:59Speaker 3: Jay Johnson say that a thousand times, this one for
- 9:03Speaker 3: the Angels. I don't blame. Like forty seven might seem
- 9:06Speaker 3: high to some people. I think it is perfect for
- 9:08Speaker 3: him because of what his ceiling can be and what
- 9:11Speaker 3: we saw from him as he continued to come back
- 9:13Speaker 3: from Tommy john Just each and every time we saw
- 9:16Speaker 3: him as like a little bit stronger, a little bit stronger,
- 9:18Speaker 3: more control. I don't think he walked to anybody in Omahall.
- 9:21Speaker 3: I mean that's not something we would say about Chase
- 9:23Speaker 3: Shores a couple of years ago.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Yeah, and just kind of from myself being like an
- 9:28Speaker 2: outsider perspective of watching him, just like getting into baseball
- 9:32Speaker 2: right during the postseason. Myself, this seems like just a
- 9:35Speaker 2: clearly a draft pick based on potential and talent. Of course, Ironsen,
- 9:42Speaker 2: it was a little bit surprising to me that Chase
- 9:43Speaker 2: Shores went before Ironsen did, But that might not have
- 9:46Speaker 2: been surprising to anybody else out there, just because Ainstin
- 9:49Speaker 2: was so you thought of, well thought of around the country.
- 9:52Speaker 2: He was a great second starter for us. But man,
- 9:55Speaker 2: watching Chase Shores just all the intangibles. Throws it hard,
- 9:58Speaker 2: throws it accurately. I think they got a good one
- 10:02Speaker 2: there myself. But let me, was it a surprise to
- 10:06Speaker 2: people outside of that he goes before Ionsen that?
- 10:09Speaker 3: I think that was a surprise, maybe not even more
- 10:11Speaker 3: like where Chase went, because Chase was somewhere in that
- 10:14Speaker 3: range of forty five to sixty five, and baseball, again,
- 10:17Speaker 3: drafts a little bit different than others, so you weren't
- 10:19Speaker 3: really sure if you could hone in. But he goes
- 10:21Speaker 3: forty seven. I think Anthony Iinson, who goes eighty seventh
- 10:25Speaker 3: overall to the Boston Red Sox, that was a surprise
- 10:28Speaker 3: because at the end of the year fun. I think
- 10:31Speaker 3: you could argue that he was the best pitcher in
- 10:33Speaker 3: the country, like for a stretch of an extended period
- 10:37Speaker 3: of time, not just like a week or two, but
- 10:39Speaker 3: in sec play. Once he hunkered down, there was nobody
- 10:43Speaker 3: better in the country. I mean, we're talking about the
- 10:45Speaker 3: guy who's third in the nation in strikeout, so you
- 10:47Speaker 3: know he's a slouch. And what do you have like
- 10:50Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty two strikeouts this year. I'm surprised
- 10:53Speaker 3: that eighty six people in this draft were considered better
- 10:57Speaker 3: than Anthony Irons. I am, I'm gonna be honest with
- 10:59Speaker 3: your high school college. I don't really care. That's a
- 11:02Speaker 3: guy that I thought would go in the first thirty
- 11:03Speaker 3: five picks. So the Boston Red Sox, in my opinion,
- 11:06Speaker 3: they get a steal at eighty seven.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm i'll. I think it was a comfortability, like
- 11:15Speaker 2: you saw as an LSU fan seeing ionsin go out
- 11:17Speaker 2: there on the mound, and there was a comfortability to say,
- 11:23Speaker 2: we know we're going to get a good out in here.
- 11:25Speaker 2: He kind of got dimmed up a little bit but
- 11:28Speaker 2: here and there, but overall really consistent. Three strikes had
- 11:33Speaker 2: so much matter. I was so impressed with both him
- 11:35Speaker 2: and k the movement they have on their ball and
- 11:38Speaker 2: able to pitch in situational pitching, not put not give
- 11:43Speaker 2: free runners on base. It was just so yeah. I
- 11:46Speaker 2: mean like like, I'm not going to pretend that I
- 11:49Speaker 2: know the ins and outs of the MLB draft, but
- 11:52Speaker 2: the way you put it right there, to have eighty
- 11:54Speaker 2: plus people get drafted in front of him, I have
- 11:58Speaker 2: a hard time believing because what I saw and Omaha
- 12:01Speaker 2: was a pretty dominant pitcher.
- 12:03Speaker 3: YEP, looking forward to seeing how it goes for him.
- 12:06Speaker 3: I just think that he is way too talented to
- 12:08Speaker 3: last until the eighty seventh pick there. I think he's
- 12:12Speaker 3: somebody that proved what he can do in the best
- 12:13Speaker 3: league in college baseball and excited for his future. I
- 12:16Speaker 3: know our guy, Matt Musso was probably pretty excited that
- 12:19Speaker 3: he went to the Boston Red Sox. All right, one
- 12:21Speaker 3: final one because we've got LSU coming up here really
- 12:24Speaker 3: any minute now, so we want to make sure that
- 12:26Speaker 3: Ethan Fry gets a shout out. He was selected ninety
- 12:28Speaker 3: fifth overall by the Houston Astros. What a year for
- 12:32Speaker 3: Ethan Fry three thirty one batting average, thirteen home runs,
- 12:35Speaker 3: fifty RBIs and was as consistent as anybody there in
- 12:39Speaker 3: the postseason. I said it a thousand times already. But
- 12:42Speaker 3: against the Little Rock. If he doesn't get moved to
- 12:44Speaker 3: the two hole, if he doesn't deliver with the bases loaded,
- 12:47Speaker 3: who knows where LSU season is, right because the night
- 12:50Speaker 3: before they had the bases loaded twice did not come through.
- 12:53Speaker 3: Love the fact that somebody that waited the turn alat
- 12:56Speaker 3: Garrett Nessmayer like eating fries. That kind of guy gets rewarded.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Yeah, And is this a was this expected for him
- 13:04Speaker 2: to go this earlier? Think this is kind of a
- 13:06Speaker 2: could be a blow to LSU next season.
- 13:10Speaker 3: I don't think anybody thought he would go this high.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Well just because you know, based off one year sample
- 13:16Speaker 3: size and playing really in sixty two games. But I
- 13:21Speaker 3: think when you look at his size and the speed
- 13:23Speaker 3: and athletic ability, I know that you know he's he's
- 13:25Speaker 3: a DH candidate, but I mean he's an athletic guy.
- 13:27Speaker 3: I think you're normal DH, right. I mean, he obviously
- 13:30Speaker 3: has some athletic ability tool and we've seen him get
- 13:32Speaker 3: down the line. I'm sure the sixty is going to
- 13:34Speaker 3: be great and has been great obviously, so Ethan Fried
- 13:38Speaker 3: to me, somebody you take a shot on, You take
- 13:40Speaker 3: a shot on his size and his raw tools, and
- 13:43Speaker 3: you saw just in one year, and you're expecting, like
- 13:45Speaker 3: he might not make it to the big leagues as
- 13:47Speaker 3: fast as these other guys that we're talking about, but
- 13:49Speaker 3: he has all the ability to do so.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Yeah, so I think going this high, I think yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 2: I would say the odds are that he's probably probably
- 13:57Speaker 2: out of there, probably gone. So yeah, kind of a
- 13:59Speaker 2: blow to the LSU team for twenty twenty six, but man,
- 14:03Speaker 2: props to him. Without him, just like you said, we
- 14:06Speaker 2: don't make the rhyme. I mean you can say that
- 14:07Speaker 2: about top to bottom on the lineup and the pitching staff,
- 14:10Speaker 2: but just one of those key parts, key pieces to
- 14:13Speaker 2: this national championship team. So congratulations to Ethan Fry. I
- 14:18Speaker 2: know he was very highly thought of of his teammates
- 14:21Speaker 2: as a leader and just one of those guys that
- 14:24Speaker 2: gave you a lot of comfortability in that lineup every
- 14:26Speaker 2: time that he stepped in the batter's box. So congrats,
- 14:29Speaker 2: congrats all the guys that have been drafted so far.
- 14:31Speaker 3: So all right, we will take a break and when
- 14:34Speaker 3: we come back, we're gonna catch up with LSU Tiger

- 16:28Speaker 3: It's just a lot of buttons over Okay, dude. They
- 16:29Speaker 3: gave us sound effects and everything. So if you say
- 16:31Speaker 3: something that we think is pretty funny, okay, we'll hear that. Okay, Okay, good,
- 16:37Speaker 3: I like that. There we go like that.
- 16:39Speaker 2: What's up?
- 16:39Speaker 3: Man, you're number two? You're here again. I had a
- 16:42Speaker 3: chance to catch up with you last year. But as
- 16:44Speaker 3: we always say, like even on the field, off the field,
- 16:46Speaker 3: I'm sure year two feels a lot better, a little
- 16:48Speaker 3: bit more comfortable, you know what to expect and you're
- 16:51Speaker 3: number one.
- 16:51Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, I mean just having them last year to
- 16:55Speaker 4: more for the off season, to go back, you know,
- 16:56Speaker 4: watch the tape, have a full season to study of myself.
- 16:59Speaker 4: You know, see all the highs and all the lows,
- 17:01Speaker 4: and how to manage those lows. You know, how to
- 17:03Speaker 4: you know, obviously take better care of the football, things
- 17:06Speaker 4: like that, you know, but also having confidence in the
- 17:09Speaker 4: goods as well, you know, seeing what I was able
- 17:11Speaker 4: to do and having confidence and being able to do
- 17:14Speaker 4: those things again while also you know, raising the floor.
- 17:16Speaker 3: A little bit.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Yeah, when you go and and you look at last
- 17:20Speaker 2: year and you start breaking down the film self scouting
- 17:23Speaker 2: everything that you did. So many things well, right, there's
- 17:27Speaker 2: things that in your game and that you've shown on
- 17:29Speaker 2: the field that but there's not a lot of improving.
- 17:32Speaker 2: You're doing things that the guys at the next level do.
- 17:34Speaker 2: But when you go back and watch and you have
- 17:37Speaker 2: to be critical of yourself, like what is like one
- 17:39Speaker 2: of the main things that you go and we all
- 17:41Speaker 2: have to do it. All quarterbacks have to do what
- 17:43Speaker 2: no matter Tom Brady did it he has to go
- 17:45Speaker 2: and say, what do I not do well right now?
- 17:47Speaker 2: What are those things for you?
- 17:48Speaker 3: Absolutely?
- 17:49Speaker 4: Well, obviously it's taking care of the football, you know,
- 17:54Speaker 4: not not trying to force things and make plays, you know,
- 17:57Speaker 4: being a better manager of the game, manager of the
- 18:00Speaker 4: offenses in the run game as well. You know, I
- 18:03Speaker 4: think there are a lot of things, and you know,
- 18:04Speaker 4: I don't like to get too into specifics, but I
- 18:06Speaker 4: think those are kind of the two main things that
- 18:09Speaker 4: jump off the tape a little bit for me, and
- 18:11Speaker 4: just you know, it comes with I think also the
- 18:13Speaker 4: experience and going through those mistakes last year I think
- 18:16Speaker 4: will helped me a lot this year.
- 18:18Speaker 3: So one of the cool things in the bowl game
- 18:20Speaker 3: prep and I'm getting ready for that game and going
- 18:22Speaker 3: out to practice, I see you kind of jail with
- 18:23Speaker 3: the new offensive line because look, there's four guys that
- 18:26Speaker 3: were drafted off the offensive line is a really good unit.
- 18:29Speaker 3: But it was cool to see the way that you
- 18:30Speaker 3: kind of integrated yourself and the team around these new guys, right,
- 18:33Speaker 3: guys that hadn't really played before, Like, what has that
- 18:36Speaker 3: been like trying to make sure that they're ready, because
- 18:39Speaker 3: I mean, you had some veteran guys in front of
- 18:40Speaker 3: you a year ago, and they were leaders as well.
- 18:42Speaker 3: But now like you're the quarterback, you're in charge of
- 18:44Speaker 3: leading that unit.
- 18:45Speaker 2: Right.
- 18:46Speaker 4: Well, I think, for one, you know, all four of
- 18:48Speaker 4: those guys last year, they set a standard.
- 18:50Speaker 3: You know, they set an example.
- 18:51Speaker 4: You know, they all work their tails off, and I
- 18:52Speaker 4: think that that standard will not change. You know, I
- 18:55Speaker 4: think that the offensive line have really stepped up. You know,
- 18:58Speaker 4: the young guys have really accepted that challenge. They know
- 19:01Speaker 4: there's a standard to play. Coach Davis will always have
- 19:04Speaker 4: a standard to play for his offensive line unit, and
- 19:06Speaker 4: I think that you know, they're one of the hardest
- 19:08Speaker 4: working units on our entire team.
- 19:10Speaker 3: They do so much extra stuff.
- 19:11Speaker 4: They're always in their meeting, they're always trying to get right,
- 19:13Speaker 4: and so you know, when you have that expectation you
- 19:16Speaker 4: see what it's supposed to look like, you have those
- 19:18Speaker 4: guys in the room to show you that. I think
- 19:22Speaker 4: that those young guys have really embraced that scene, that
- 19:24Speaker 4: accepted that and really tried to work to meet that standard.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I think that just with your experience, your playtime experience,
- 19:31Speaker 2: and what you've showned with you when you have new
- 19:33Speaker 2: guys in the huddle. It brings a sense of ease.
- 19:36Speaker 2: When you got a guy that's speaking in the huddle
- 19:38Speaker 2: like yourself, that has been there, has proven it kind
- 19:41Speaker 2: of relaxes everybody, and it's it's super important when you
- 19:45Speaker 2: have your breaking a new offensive lineman. But I wanted
- 19:47Speaker 2: to ask you, like with that when we talk about
- 19:49Speaker 2: you know, the past protection last year was the best
- 19:51Speaker 2: in the country. So we talked, I want to know
- 19:53Speaker 2: with new offensive lineman, how involved are you when a
- 19:57Speaker 2: pass play is called it's five six, seven man protection, whatever,
- 20:00Speaker 2: how involved are you with you know, making mic declarations
- 20:03Speaker 2: or changing or when you're seeing a blitz. Do you
- 20:06Speaker 2: have the freedoms to change protections and slide them into
- 20:09Speaker 2: different guys?
- 20:10Speaker 4: Yeah, well, we do everything in the quarterback position as
- 20:14Speaker 4: far as changing and setting that. You know, the the
- 20:16Speaker 4: center will set the mic and things like that, but
- 20:18Speaker 4: everything else is fully in our control. So yeah, I
- 20:21Speaker 4: think you know, it's more about just communication over communicating
- 20:24Speaker 4: for us in the style of offense we play, just
- 20:27Speaker 4: making sure we're always on the same page, making sure
- 20:29Speaker 4: you know that whoever's that center knows you know what
- 20:32Speaker 4: I'm thinking. You know, whether it's sitting down with DJ
- 20:35Speaker 4: last year, just watching tape and being like, Hey, I
- 20:37Speaker 4: want you to know, you know, if we get this look,
- 20:39Speaker 4: this is kind of what I'm thinking, so that we're
- 20:40Speaker 4: already on the same page, you know. So when we
- 20:42Speaker 4: get to the game and I try to make a
- 20:44Speaker 4: check or a call, he's not like what is going on?
- 20:46Speaker 4: You know, he kind of understands what I'm seeing back there.
- 20:49Speaker 3: So, yeah, I want you to wax poetic a little
- 20:51Speaker 3: bit about all your new weapons. Yeah, I mean and
- 20:54Speaker 3: returning weapons. No disrespect to last year because they were great,
- 20:58Speaker 3: but I think this year could even be better far
- 21:00Speaker 3: as the people that you have the ability to throw
- 21:01Speaker 3: the football to, and Barrian Brown and Nick Anderson, bart
- 21:04Speaker 3: Er Sharp and all these people that you've brought in.
- 21:06Speaker 3: And also I don't think a lot of people realize
- 21:08Speaker 3: Aaron Anderson was a leading receiver on this team a
- 21:10Speaker 3: year ago. Now you lose a safety blanket in Mason Taylor.
- 21:13Speaker 3: It's always a great weapon to have at a quarterback
- 21:15Speaker 3: position where you can trust a tight end, no doubt
- 21:17Speaker 3: like that. But so many good people you've brought in,
- 21:19Speaker 3: and you pair those with other people that played really
- 21:22Speaker 3: well last year. I know you have to be excited
- 21:23Speaker 3: about all the weapons you have.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I think one thing you'll see from us is
- 21:26Speaker 4: so much versatility this year. You know, we have so
- 21:28Speaker 4: many different guys that are so good at many different things.
- 21:32Speaker 2: You know.
- 21:32Speaker 4: I think that you know, there's there's not a receiver
- 21:34Speaker 4: in our room that doesn't run.
- 21:35Speaker 3: Under a four to four, you know.
- 21:36Speaker 4: So we have the speed, you know, we have the quickness,
- 21:39Speaker 4: you know, with guys like Aaron, and we also have
- 21:41Speaker 4: two tight ends that are unbelievable football players as well.
- 21:43Speaker 4: And we also have some more versatility in the running
- 21:45Speaker 4: back room this year with additions like like Carlon Barry
- 21:47Speaker 4: and things like that. So I think that the word
- 21:50Speaker 4: that will translate to this fall will be just the versatility,
- 21:52Speaker 4: you know, so many different ways to put the ball
- 21:54Speaker 4: into guy's hands to allow them to make place.
- 21:58Speaker 2: When we get to the end of the season and
- 22:01Speaker 2: you look back on it and what to you is
- 22:03Speaker 2: going Garrett Nutmeser's version saying that was a successful season?
- 22:09Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think it's no. It's very obvious
- 22:12Speaker 4: what the expectations are for our team from the outside,
- 22:15Speaker 4: and I think the best part about our team this
- 22:17Speaker 4: year is that expectation has also come from within. Uh,
- 22:20Speaker 4: there's no hiding that we expect ourselves to play for
- 22:22Speaker 4: a national championship. Now, there's no hiding that we expect
- 22:25Speaker 4: ourselves to play for an SEC championship. And so I
- 22:28Speaker 4: think that that is a successful season for us. You know,
- 22:31Speaker 4: that is what we expect. We expect to play at
- 22:33Speaker 4: that level, We expect to compete at that level. We
- 22:35Speaker 4: expect to be at that level.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Being around the building a little bit, it seems like
- 22:39Speaker 3: there's kind of more messaging about being one to know
- 22:42Speaker 3: and starting want to know and point of focus on
- 22:44Speaker 3: this opener. We all know who it is. We don't
- 22:46Speaker 3: have to talk. I mean, it's Clemson, It's it's you know,
- 22:48Speaker 3: the other Death Valley, all that stuff on the road.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Has it been different in the kind of lead up
- 22:53Speaker 3: because we always talk about it, like in our years
- 22:55Speaker 3: we had like three Power four games that we opened
- 22:57Speaker 3: up with and I love that. I love having a
- 22:59Speaker 3: hate We got to you ready, we can't wait around.
- 23:01Speaker 3: As the message been a little bit.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Different, Yeah, well, I think you know, when you play
- 23:04Speaker 4: at LSU, there's always an expectation to compete for a
- 23:06Speaker 4: national championship, right, And I think in the past five years,
- 23:09Speaker 4: we've been so lost in the result. You know, we've
- 23:12Speaker 4: been so focused on competing for national championship, for playing
- 23:14Speaker 4: for a national champions instead of what starts that, you know,
- 23:17Speaker 4: And so I think that the change has been less
- 23:20Speaker 4: of you know, yes it is Clemson. We're playing Clemson,
- 23:22Speaker 4: so it's become Clemson. But it's more of a one
- 23:24Speaker 4: on o mindset, you know, it's more of accepting the
- 23:27Speaker 4: fact that, yes, we expect ourselves to play for.
- 23:28Speaker 3: National championship, but where does it start? You know, when
- 23:31Speaker 3: we're working.
- 23:31Speaker 4: All off season, Let's not think about the national championship.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Let's think about starting the right way, you know, going
- 23:35Speaker 4: want to know, starting the season to lead ourselves to
- 23:38Speaker 4: have that path.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's it's hard as a team because you
- 23:42Speaker 2: want to in the off season, during the season, you
- 23:44Speaker 2: want to look ahead and think about all the games,
- 23:46Speaker 2: but it takes. So I was fortunate enough to be
- 23:49Speaker 2: part of two national championships when I was red shirted,
- 23:52Speaker 2: and then my senior year Jacob was part of one.
- 23:55Speaker 2: There's always something that's almost unexplainable, like when you talk
- 24:00Speaker 2: about what makes those teams different. There's good leadership, in
- 24:02Speaker 2: every single position room. There's good leaderships and units of
- 24:05Speaker 2: the offensive defense, and there's good team leadership. There's like
- 24:08Speaker 2: a hierarchy of leadership that all report to each other
- 24:10Speaker 2: and everybody is in unison. But it's hard to explain
- 24:13Speaker 2: that it factor. Now when you look at this team,
- 24:17Speaker 2: what do you feel about that this? Does this team
- 24:20Speaker 2: feel different than teams you've had?
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 24:22Speaker 4: Absolutely, well, I think, you know, it's definitely the deepest
- 24:25Speaker 4: roster that I feel like I've ever been a part
- 24:26Speaker 4: of LSU, the most talented roster. But I think you know,
- 24:29Speaker 4: what you're speaking to is just the closeness and the
- 24:33Speaker 4: camaraderie within the team. You know. I think that it's
- 24:36Speaker 4: been a while since I've seen you know, offensive and
- 24:38Speaker 4: defensive guys hanging out all the time, you know, and
- 24:40Speaker 4: so to see that, to see the brotherhood that we've
- 24:43Speaker 4: kind of created throughout this offseason, and I think it
- 24:46Speaker 4: kind of started with just having all these transfers coming
- 24:49Speaker 4: in and feeling like we have to get them within
- 24:51Speaker 4: the team, it's almost brought everybody together as well, you know,
- 24:54Speaker 4: And so it's been really cool to see something that's
- 24:57Speaker 4: very exciting and definitely the close team that I've been on.
- 25:00Speaker 3: L shoe and I love seeing it from Afar. So look,
- 25:02Speaker 3: meathead is a tournament endearment for me. It's what we
- 25:05Speaker 3: call ourselves. And I see when I see the meatheads
- 25:07Speaker 3: of Pyburing and Weeks and all getting together, I'm like, exactly, Look,
- 25:15Speaker 3: those are offense and defensive guys, but they are like
- 25:17Speaker 3: close and they're like working out together doing meatthead things together.
- 25:21Speaker 4: Absolutely, yeah, I mean there's a lot of that.
- 25:24Speaker 2: So have you ever been in the weight room with
- 25:26Speaker 2: the whole team screaming at you hitting the.
- 25:28Speaker 3: Chop up and there?
- 25:31Speaker 2: What's your bench right now?
- 25:33Speaker 4: I mean there might have been like a power clean
- 25:34Speaker 4: repping there where I got like.
- 25:35Speaker 3: A small squad. You don't wait, you don't have you
- 25:40Speaker 3: don't have wheels where he's winking at the cancel before
- 25:42Speaker 3: he does six. Six would probably break me.
- 25:45Speaker 4: I don't know about that.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Oh hey, Garrett, Okay, So we've got a question and
- 25:49Speaker 3: we're going to ask everybody that we talked to this week,
- 25:52Speaker 3: and we said only three people are going to be
- 25:54Speaker 3: able to answer this question correctly, and you were one
- 25:56Speaker 3: of them.
- 25:56Speaker 2: Now, before you, before you ask this question, let me
- 25:58Speaker 2: let me just tell you. Since you your first year here,
- 26:01Speaker 2: I've been I don't know if you've heard the term
- 26:03Speaker 2: dust bus. I've been like the the the driver of
- 26:07Speaker 2: the dust bus appreciate for many years.
- 26:09Speaker 3: If you do, if you did anything good, like when
- 26:12Speaker 3: you came in as a freshman sophomore, if you did
- 26:14Speaker 3: anything good, we would get just a gift of the bus,
- 26:17Speaker 3: like just driving it from this guy right here. So
- 26:20Speaker 3: he's been So if you get this wrong, it's gonna
- 26:21Speaker 3: be highly disappointed.
- 26:23Speaker 2: I might all right let myself off.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Do you know who Jonathan Moxon is. I don't think
- 26:32Speaker 3: think think movies.
- 26:34Speaker 4: Jonathan mox Jonathan Moxin's I'm like the last Jonathan.
- 26:38Speaker 3: If it's a movie. No, but you're from Texas, West
- 26:41Speaker 3: West Cannon Coats. No, I don't know. Have you ever
- 26:44Speaker 3: seen baritone? I've ever seen Varsity bluesy just crash? Is
- 26:55Speaker 3: that my generation? It's ours? Alright, it's ours, but we're like,
- 26:59Speaker 3: you know, he's got kind of an old soul from Texas.
- 27:01Speaker 3: And I'm not a movie guy. I've never been a
- 27:03Speaker 3: movie guy.
- 27:04Speaker 2: Feel that's me.
- 27:06Speaker 3: That's on me. Well, now now you're gonna go look
- 27:08Speaker 3: it up. Yeah Arsity, Yeah, don't even wory about Clemsons
- 27:12Speaker 3: Varsity Blue. Check it out. Man, Hey, we do truly
- 27:16Speaker 3: appreciate the time, best luck. So happy for your success.
- 27:19Speaker 3: And this is not just because you're here. We say
- 27:20Speaker 3: it all the time. I appreciate this guy next to
- 27:23Speaker 3: me because he didn't take his ball and go home. Uh.
- 27:26Speaker 3: He could have played in a lot of different places.
- 27:27Speaker 3: He stuck with us and we won a national championship
- 27:29Speaker 3: because of it. I appreciate that about you. You could
- 27:32Speaker 3: have played in a lot of places, but you waited
- 27:33Speaker 3: your turn. When you got your turn, you made the
- 27:35Speaker 3: most of it and still more to come. So as
- 27:37Speaker 3: former players for LSU, we appreciate the way you went
- 27:40Speaker 3: about your business.
- 27:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I appreciate y'all.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Ye dude, in this world at college football, it certainly
- 27:44Speaker 2: is a unicorn for someone like yourself to stick around
- 27:47Speaker 2: love a love a university of program. So four players,
- 27:51Speaker 2: we appreciate what you do. Man, looking forward to the
- 27:54Speaker 2: season and beyond that for you. Excited for you, Excited
- 27:56Speaker 2: for the season, sir, thanks for having me, appreciate, appreciate

- 29:35Speaker 2: Okay?
- 29:35Speaker 3: I can't hear it, but you know what doesn't matter
- 29:37Speaker 3: as long as you can hear it.
- 29:38Speaker 2: So our over under line of ten percent of players
- 29:42Speaker 2: knowing it just took a big shot.
- 29:44Speaker 3: It did?
- 29:44Speaker 2: Now? Is it five percent? Now?
- 29:47Speaker 3: Did eroper? It's one per It has gone down drastically
- 29:51Speaker 3: to one percent. And I felt so bad because that
- 29:53Speaker 3: was who we're most confident in wood weeks and most confident.
- 29:57Speaker 3: He was number two. Though when we asked, I felt

- 30:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 30:04Speaker 3: God. The other the other shocking thing about this whole

- 30:21Speaker 3: American man didn't know Jonathan mox in a varsity you know,
- 30:24Speaker 3: Jonathan mar Okay, thank you, thank you, my god?
- 30:29Speaker 2: What are we doing? I mean, what are we teaching
- 30:31Speaker 2: our youths these days?
- 30:32Speaker 3: I mean you played.
- 30:35Speaker 2: His follow up question was like, was that my generation?
- 30:39Speaker 3: Ah? God, you got us, he got us. No, it
- 30:43Speaker 3: wasn't guilty as charge. That's born. The real disappointing thing
- 30:48Speaker 3: is Brandon Barrio did not know who Jonathan Moxon was either.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Brandon Varsity Blues. We're talking about you on air, Brandon Barrio,
- 30:56Speaker 3: I know you can hear us.
- 30:57Speaker 2: We're talking.
- 30:58Speaker 3: We're talking bad about you on air. But as you
- 31:00Speaker 3: didn't know, Varsity Blues are Jonathan Boxon either.
- 31:02Speaker 2: He's in college. That's fine.
- 31:04Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not as young as you think, So don't
- 31:07Speaker 3: use that excuse. Go home and watch it. Brandon Barrio
- 31:11Speaker 3: Varsity Blues?
- 31:12Speaker 2: Do you think god nuts will?
- 31:13Speaker 3: Ever heard of Billy Bob Miss Davis? Ever heard of
- 31:17Speaker 3: those characters? Hey, Jonathan Moxin, Bud Kilmer.
- 31:23Speaker 2: Lance Harbor probably still coaching.
- 31:25Speaker 3: With prize surprise, Lance Harbor, surprise surprise.
- 31:30Speaker 2: Ever heard of the Alano.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Club on the glass at that Alano Club?
- 31:36Speaker 2: Yep, I get some pet Nuss doesn't.
- 31:39Speaker 3: No, he doesn't. Has he ever been out way past
- 31:43Speaker 3: curfew the night before a game and you walk out
- 31:45Speaker 3: and you're like, oh, it's sun outside and not the moon.
- 31:48Speaker 2: We got game tonight. Boy, do you think he'll take
- 31:52Speaker 2: us up on our advice to him to watch it
- 31:54Speaker 2: the night before the Clemson game in the hotel room.
- 31:58Speaker 2: He might throw for nine hundred yards if you.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Ryan, I understand that Nuss was born three years after
- 32:04Speaker 3: the movie came out. I also look, I was born
- 32:07Speaker 3: after you know, some great movies as well. I was
- 32:09Speaker 3: born in nineteen eighty five. You don't think that I've
- 32:11Speaker 3: seen the nineteen eighty two classics. Of course I have.
- 32:15Speaker 2: Uh yeah, we've seen Scarface, Yeah, seventies.
- 32:21Speaker 3: I think I've seen Rocky one. I was born yet.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Anybody's seen The Wizard of Oz, seen that one before?
- 32:26Speaker 3: Everybody on there was born calling the wind, seeing that puppy,
- 32:30Speaker 3: uh huh m. Anyways, I don't know. We need it.
- 32:35Speaker 2: We got to reload, We got to regroup, We got
- 32:37Speaker 2: to get our composure back.
- 32:40Speaker 3: He looked great, though, game looked great.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Man, it was on point. You see, like, did you
- 32:44Speaker 2: notice the details? Details in a suit make it okay
- 32:48Speaker 2: because there's only so many like designs and patterns and colors.
- 32:52Speaker 2: But this the details, the little yellow button, yeah, little
- 32:55Speaker 2: yellow button.
- 32:55Speaker 3: All right, what do you think? What do you think
- 32:57Speaker 3: he's down there talking about with Cole Kubrick and Greg.
- 33:00Speaker 2: That interview is probably terrible.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Yeah, no, there's no doubt. Greg. Hey, like I made
- 33:05Speaker 3: this throw one time, and this is like cool, I
- 33:07Speaker 3: can make that with my eyes closed.
- 33:08Speaker 2: Greg.
- 33:08Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not even that big of ada.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Greg.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Yeah, nerd oh, Cole, what's the whole power counter gap scheme?
- 33:16Speaker 4: Cool?
- 33:18Speaker 2: I bet Macroy's never seen Varsity Blays either.
- 33:22Speaker 3: Cole probably has. I'll give Cole that. No way, Macroy,
- 33:25Speaker 3: no way, he can never Johnathan mox and An't he
- 33:28Speaker 3: from Texas too? Though, no idea. I think he is.
- 33:31Speaker 3: He's from South Lake Carol. Okay, I did know that. Yeah,
- 33:34Speaker 3: I think. I mean you're pretty much neighbors.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Basically.
- 33:38Speaker 3: If he doesn't know, well, I'm asking him. I'm gonna
- 33:40Speaker 3: I want to really just be like, say.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Greg, right, get out here, growing over here.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Now, speaking of Greg, I think Greg sank he's right
- 33:46Speaker 3: behind me talking. He is. Yeah, that's Greg. Say, Greg's
- 33:51Speaker 3: gem like great here.
- 33:54Speaker 2: We could get mc roy over here at some point
- 33:55Speaker 2: during the show, because you know, they probably like go
- 33:57Speaker 2: to break like right at the zero, like they're right
- 34:00Speaker 2: all the time, like a bunch of nerds.
- 34:01Speaker 3: So you're saying, like when they go to break on time,
- 34:03Speaker 3: but we're like continuing our twenty three minute second that
- 34:06Speaker 3: he can come up with.
- 34:07Speaker 2: The eight men over here. Fair enough, a bunch of
- 34:10Speaker 2: nerds over there. This is fun though. We were sitting
- 34:14Speaker 2: here College Football Hall of Fame my first time. Jacob
- 34:18Speaker 2: actually walked us around yesterday because he was bragging about
- 34:21Speaker 2: how there was an eighteen jersey here.
- 34:23Speaker 3: There was there was a display.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Well, we're still looking for it. We are still looking
- 34:27Speaker 2: for it here at the college football pictures and everything.
- 34:31Speaker 2: I got proof, Like I'm about the pretty.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Sure though that the name on the jersey, I'm pretty
- 34:36Speaker 3: sure was probably Matt Mack. They just said Tigers on
- 34:39Speaker 3: it or something maybe something he was mocked up.
- 34:42Speaker 2: But we got this. We got it. So obviously an
- 34:44Speaker 2: amazing view behind us, great Sankie talking right now, but
- 34:48Speaker 2: in front of us beautiful view as well. We got
- 34:51Speaker 2: all these beautiful trophies. We got like a huge wall
- 34:53Speaker 2: of helmets, more college programs than I ever thought there were.
- 34:57Speaker 2: For sure, what have we got like five hundred helmets?
- 34:59Speaker 3: See, there's like a helmet for like every every team
- 35:02Speaker 3: that you've ever thought about thinking of they have a
- 35:04Speaker 3: helmet on.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Every team in between high school and the pros is
- 35:08Speaker 2: in there.
- 35:08Speaker 3: East Texas Baptist, they're there, the Tigers, I think, Oh,
- 35:13Speaker 3: I think they are. I should. My little brother played
- 35:15Speaker 3: for him. I shouldn't know that, but I don't. You should.
- 35:17Speaker 3: Definitely Mary Hard and Baylor probably got a helmet up there.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Oh, there's no doubt. I can't even think of one that.
- 35:25Speaker 3: Tyler Junior College probably tj C actually read a story recently.
- 35:31Speaker 2: I don't know if it's like a recent story, but
- 35:33Speaker 2: I don't know. My son brought this up to me
- 35:35Speaker 2: because he heard it Tyler Junior College actually had a
- 35:37Speaker 2: commitment from a quarterback with two prosthetic legs. Okay, I know, right,
- 35:43Speaker 2: because my son told me this. I was like, no,
- 35:45Speaker 2: there's no way that anybody would.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, but.
- 35:48Speaker 5: Yeah, absolutely it was real. Well, good luck to him,
- 35:51Speaker 5: Good luck to him, good luck to him and TJC.
- 35:54Speaker 5: The apaches they've had there was like one. I wasn't
- 35:58Speaker 5: there like one player that came him out of there
- 36:01Speaker 5: that was like the good players.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I can't remember off the top of my head any names,
- 36:05Speaker 2: but they, I mean, most Jucos do, especially like the
- 36:08Speaker 2: higher end juco's that play for a guess TJSE had
- 36:12Speaker 2: a run where they were playing for national times. I
- 36:14Speaker 2: didn't think we would transition to them. Yeah, here we are,
- 36:17Speaker 2: We're Hall of Fame. We got all these trophies, shiny things.
- 36:21Speaker 3: So in the chat, should we change our expectation when
- 36:24Speaker 3: we talked to and if we do catch up with
- 36:26Speaker 3: wit weeks from Varsity Blues to the program? Does he
- 36:29Speaker 3: I think he actually still feels more Varsity Blues than
- 36:32Speaker 3: the program. M. I mean Latimer's probably, you know, Latimer
- 36:36Speaker 3: is definitely every meathead dream for sure.
- 36:39Speaker 2: I guess that would be a transition, Like ask him
- 36:42Speaker 2: all the you know, because I said it was a
- 36:44Speaker 2: different generation, does that mean he's never seen like how
- 36:48Speaker 2: many good football movies movies have come out since he
- 36:52Speaker 2: was born? That are his generation? Like the replacements? Was
- 36:55Speaker 2: that that had to be still too young. That's around
- 36:58Speaker 2: the same time. As for Blues, if they do they
- 37:01Speaker 2: know of any do they have they ever heard of
- 37:03Speaker 2: the program?
- 37:04Speaker 3: Maybe remember the Titans? No, they never heard the program.
- 37:06Speaker 3: If they hadn't heard of Varsity Blues, they han't heard
- 37:08Speaker 3: the program.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Well, I would assume all these kids were born after
- 37:12Speaker 2: two thousand, both the replacements and remember the Titans was
- 37:15Speaker 2: early two thousands. Yeah, I mean, this is this is
- 37:19Speaker 2: the stuff people need to know. I feel like.
- 37:22Speaker 3: I wish I do wish like we had like a
- 37:24Speaker 3: circular camera that caught everybody's reaction whenever he like let
- 37:29Speaker 3: us know that he didn't know what we were talking about.
- 37:32Speaker 3: And the disappointment not only in his face but everybody
- 37:34Speaker 3: around us.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he didn't want to fail us.
- 37:36Speaker 3: He did.
- 37:36Speaker 2: He didn't want to disappoint us, but he did.
- 37:38Speaker 3: But he did, just as long as he makes up
- 37:41Speaker 3: for it when they go to Clemson in a couple
- 37:42Speaker 3: of weeks.
- 37:43Speaker 2: But you know what, it was just an idle threat
- 37:45Speaker 2: that I made that I would hop off the nustbus
- 37:47Speaker 2: if he didn't know it. I'm still on it, I'm
- 37:49Speaker 2: driving it. I'm saying all aboard to too, let's going like.
- 37:55Speaker 3: That's not And I told him and he said, wouldn't like,
- 37:57Speaker 3: just just blow smoke for enough, my this man next
- 38:01Speaker 3: to me, And it didn't matter. Like you go back
- 38:05Speaker 3: to when Max Johnson was the starting quarterback, early days
- 38:07Speaker 3: of Jadeen being the starting quarterback, when Nus would come
- 38:09Speaker 3: in and make a play We're in a group chat
- 38:12Speaker 3: and we were going to get the bus gif Jeff,
- 38:15Speaker 3: whatever you want to call I call it Jiff. You
- 38:16Speaker 3: probably call it Giff. I don't care, but we would
- 38:18Speaker 3: get that from you. It'd be the one the monster.
- 38:21Speaker 2: Trancer truck school bus.
- 38:23Speaker 3: That was running over every car.
- 38:24Speaker 2: Right, yes, yep, yeah, I've said this. I've told this
- 38:30Speaker 2: story before. It was his first year at LSU. I
- 38:34Speaker 2: went and watched one of the scrimmages in Tiger Stadium.
- 38:38Speaker 2: I can't remember if it was spring. I think it
- 38:40Speaker 2: was training camp. I was there to watch another young quarterback. Yeah,
- 38:44Speaker 2: I was, you know, a high draft pick. I wanted
- 38:46Speaker 2: to go see him throw. I wanted to go just
- 38:48Speaker 2: you know, there's a lot of hype with him. I
- 38:49Speaker 2: wanted to go see him. And so I was watching
- 38:51Speaker 2: the scrimmag It's like, all right, good throw, good throw.
- 38:54Speaker 2: I was like, all right, I see it.
- 38:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:55Speaker 2: But then I was like but and then it's like
- 38:58Speaker 2: turned my head like one and I was like, but
- 39:01Speaker 2: who's that guy? Hey, that guy is making throws that
- 39:05Speaker 2: are special. That are that is that is different. It
- 39:08Speaker 2: looks a little bit different. It looks confident, it looks
- 39:11Speaker 2: a little bit cocky. When he throws the ball, he's
- 39:14Speaker 2: thrown it into windows that young quarterbacks shouldn't be able
- 39:21Speaker 2: to throw. Make those throws and make those reads. He's
- 39:24Speaker 2: throwing it based on defenses, leverage, on where guys should
- 39:27Speaker 2: be getting to that aren't there yet, because a lot
- 39:30Speaker 2: of times, especially as young quarterbacks, you're like, all right,
- 39:32Speaker 2: I'm gonna throw it when I know I can complete it.
- 39:34Speaker 2: So I see him open, I make the throw. And
- 39:36Speaker 2: in college you can get away with that. At the
- 39:38Speaker 2: next level you can't. You got to get throw guys open.
- 39:40Speaker 2: You gotta throw guys before they get open. And he
- 39:43Speaker 2: was doing those things at a very young age. Of course,
- 39:45Speaker 2: there's learning curves with that. You throw, you do, throw interceptions,
- 39:49Speaker 2: you do. You got this little kind of gunslinger mentality.
- 39:52Speaker 2: Mistakes happen with that. And I'm not comparing him as
- 39:55Speaker 2: a quarterback right now or yet. I'm just comparing him
- 39:58Speaker 2: as like play styles. I've always compared him to his
- 40:02Speaker 2: style of play in his mindset and the arm talent
- 40:05Speaker 2: to a Matthew Stafford when he was at Georgia, because
- 40:09Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford was a guy that at Georgia when he
- 40:12Speaker 2: started could make all the throws. He had a great
- 40:15Speaker 2: arm and everybody knew it. But you know what else,
- 40:17Speaker 2: he knew it as well. So he would try to
- 40:20Speaker 2: do a little bit risky things. He would try to
- 40:22Speaker 2: fit holes or fit throws in the holes that he
- 40:25Speaker 2: shouldn't be doing. But he would do it into Cover
- 40:26Speaker 2: three a lot, and not the real Cover three. I'm
- 40:28Speaker 2: talking about triple coverage. We call that, we'd call that
- 40:31Speaker 2: Cover three. He did that, but he learned and he
- 40:33Speaker 2: progressed and he got better. That is what makes Garrett
- 40:37Speaker 2: so much better because he has improved and taken what
- 40:40Speaker 2: he does well and started to eliminate those mistakes. And
- 40:43Speaker 2: he said it right here, what's the thing I gotta
- 40:44Speaker 2: work on. I gotta fix the turnovers. So all the
- 40:48Speaker 2: things that you do well, you have to sell scout.
- 40:50Speaker 2: You got to say, what have I not done well?
- 40:52Speaker 2: Turnovers was the first thing that he said. So we
- 40:55Speaker 2: know that's on his mind. We know that is something
- 40:57Speaker 2: they're focused on and just excited get this thing started
- 41:01Speaker 2: with them, but not excited about the mocks and thing.
- 41:06Speaker 3: Yeah, but you can tell LSU very well represented here.
- 41:10Speaker 3: I mean I'm getting text messages as we're sitting here
- 41:12Speaker 3: doing the show of people that are interviewing wit Weeks
- 41:14Speaker 3: right now, and they're like, this is a great representation
- 41:18Speaker 3: of LSU. This kid is incredible and it's so good
- 41:21Speaker 3: to have, you know, guys like that here for LSU
- 41:24Speaker 3: representing the school. And hopefully maybe today we can catch
- 41:27Speaker 3: up with wit Weeks. But we will step away now.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Don't worry more. OTB come in your way, live in
- 41:33Speaker 3: the College Football Hall of Fame. Off the bench, all right,
- 41:39Speaker 3: If you are looking for the perfect way to kind
- 41:42Speaker 3: of wind down here during the summer, maybe you go
- 41:45Speaker 3: to the beach, you go to the lake, you go
- 41:47Speaker 3: to the river, whatever it might be, you should wind
- 41:50Speaker 3: down with a nice cold dose sekis, or maybe you
- 41:53Speaker 3: go for dose because that's the way that it's supposed
- 41:57Speaker 3: to be done. It is always the perfect time. It
- 41:59Speaker 3: doesn't matter what the situation where you're at, it is
- 42:02Speaker 3: always time for an ice cold do sekis. And so
- 42:06Speaker 3: take the advice of OTB, kick your feet up, turn
- 42:10Speaker 3: on the game you don't watch, you will MLB All

- 42:13Speaker 3: of the ice cold do skis in your hand.
