- 0:00Speaker 1: We got the Beaza win that breast band Tata.
- 0:07Speaker 2: The strength of America, our values, our way of life
- 0:12Speaker 2: hasn't just been one on the battlefield. It's one every
- 0:16Speaker 2: day in our communities when we come together extending hands
- 0:20Speaker 2: of compassion, service, and hope to those who need it most.
- 0:25Speaker 2: For over one hundred years, the American Legion has been
- 0:28Speaker 2: strengthening communities across our nation by providing life saving help
- 0:33Speaker 2: and support to our veterans and neighbors during times like
- 0:37Speaker 2: we're facing today. It's what the Legions all about. From
- 0:41Speaker 2: blood drives to distributing food, from responding to emergencies and
- 0:47Speaker 2: protecting the most vulnerable among us, our mission is making
- 0:51Speaker 2: America's communities stronger.
- 0:53Speaker 3: We are one family, and therefore we care.
- 0:57Speaker 2: We are the American Legion Veterans Strengthening America. To learn
- 1:02Speaker 2: how you can help, visit Legion dot org.
- 1:07Speaker 4: You're home for Eggie Football, Eggie basketball, and Eggie Beaseball.
- 1:10Speaker 5: He's the Zone.
- 1:11Speaker 4: Eleven AM and ninety three point seven Ffissiskayzy Andy Holley Station.
- 1:15Speaker 6: BRU Family owned and operated since nineteen seventy two. Stepcheck
- 1:19Speaker 6: Service Center twenty two hundred longmyre just down from the
- 1:22Speaker 6: post office in College Station. One of the most, if
- 1:30Speaker 6: not the most important album of the Texas music era,
- 1:38Speaker 6: Viva Terlingua, was recorded on this date fifty three years
- 1:45Speaker 6: ago in nineteen seventy three in Lukenbach, Texas, and Jackie
- 1:54Speaker 6: Jack Walker became a star. He had already obviously had
- 1:58Speaker 6: Mister bo Jangles and it obviously, as this album will
- 2:04Speaker 6: tell you, had written some great songs, but this one
- 2:10Speaker 6: put him into orbit. Recorded on and we've talked about
- 2:16Speaker 6: everything that happened in all the craziness. It put Lukenbach,
- 2:23Speaker 6: Texas on the map. It put Hondo Crouch the unofficial
- 2:28Speaker 6: mayor of Lukenbach. It made him a national star. A
- 2:33Speaker 6: lot of things happened on this date in Lukenbach fifty
- 2:38Speaker 6: three years ago. We're going to be playing the album today,
- 2:41Speaker 6: Welcome in. That will probably be the highlight of the show.
- 2:47Speaker 6: But we've got other things we've slapped together, including our
- 2:53Speaker 6: friend Kurt Bodenhausen, who has been with us for years
- 2:57Speaker 6: talking about the finances of sports. He is going to
- 3:01Speaker 6: join us in the second hour.
- 3:03Speaker 7: We have got an SEC preview, We've got a high
- 3:07Speaker 7: school report. We're going to hear from Mike Elko. I
- 3:12Speaker 7: have my own personal Entertainment edition. My gots this sounds
- 3:17Speaker 7: like a pretty good show. Actually, it could be that
- 3:21Speaker 7: you're here on a decent day. This portion of the
- 3:23Speaker 7: program is brought to you by Radiant Dentistry. Yesterday AP
- 3:29Speaker 7: released it's preseason Top twenty five pole, which is meaningless.
- 3:33Speaker 7: Today they released the preseason AP All American First Team,
- 3:37Speaker 7: which is equally meaningless. Now, don't tell Kurt Boles I
- 3:41Speaker 7: said that he will fight me on that, but it's true.
- 3:49Speaker 8: I'll just nay.
- 3:50Speaker 7: I'll just tell you that the first team quarterback is
- 3:52Speaker 7: Dante Moore, Kewan Lacy of Ole miss and a mad
- 3:56Speaker 7: Herty of Missouri, which is interesting because he got shot
- 3:59Speaker 7: in the offseason. We don't know if he's even going
- 4:01Speaker 7: to play in the first game or two or three
- 4:04Speaker 7: preseason All American And I have a story on the
- 4:08Speaker 7: preseason All American offensive tackle Trevor Goldsby from the University
- 4:13Speaker 7: of Texas, who has been injured in practice. Yesterday, Kirk
- 4:21Speaker 7: Is reporting that the six to seven, three hundred and
- 4:24Speaker 7: twenty five pounds projected first round draft pick suffered a
- 4:30Speaker 7: bone bruise. Don't know yet the extent.
- 4:40Speaker 8: Of the injury.
- 4:41Speaker 7: Okay, if they're fortunate and that's what is being reported
- 4:46Speaker 7: as a bone bruise, they he won't miss significant time.
- 4:53Speaker 7: If he does, huge loss to the fighting Sarcesians, tred
- 5:01Speaker 7: S Green, LSU All American tied end. In fact, we're
- 5:04Speaker 7: going to hear from him tomorrow on the show because
- 5:08Speaker 7: we're doing LSU tomorrow. We're doing A and M today,
- 5:10Speaker 7: by the way, so phone the kids and wait the neighbors.
- 5:15Speaker 7: Jeremiah Smith, Malachai, Tony cam Coleman, First Team All Americans.
- 5:24Speaker 7: Let's see all purposes way night at UCLA should be
- 5:29Speaker 7: Mario craf but hey, that's just me. Defense. There's quite
- 5:37Speaker 7: a few SEC guys represented. Two from Texas, Colin Simmons,
- 5:41Speaker 7: Rahie Biles the linebacker, edge rusher Dylan Stewart from South Carolina,
- 5:48Speaker 7: tackle David Stone from Oklahoma, Linebacker Xavier Atkins from Auburn,
- 5:55Speaker 7: cornerback LS Robinson of Georgia, safety kJ Bold of Georgia.
- 6:02Speaker 7: So the SEC is well represented. Defensive back Bray Hubbard
- 6:07Speaker 7: from Alabama. We heard from him during our preview of
- 6:11Speaker 7: the time. The Aggie football team worked out again this morning,
- 6:18Speaker 7: practiced outdoors. Coach Elko made available afterward. We will hear
- 6:25Speaker 7: from him coming up. They will practice tomorrow, they will
- 6:29Speaker 7: be off Thursday, they will practice Friday.
- 6:34Speaker 8: It's Saturday and Sunday. It's the grind right now. It
- 6:45Speaker 8: is the grind.
- 6:47Speaker 7: Rangers announcing a couple of transactions. Catcher Danny Jansen has
- 6:52Speaker 7: been activated from the sixty day injured list. He's missed
- 6:59Speaker 7: the last sixty four games with a right four arm strain.
- 7:08Speaker 7: Let's see, he's been at Triple A Round Rock where
- 7:11Speaker 7: he hit three point thirty three. Getting ready to come back,
- 7:16Speaker 7: and they have DFA catcher Austin Wins. Rangers tonight are
- 7:25Speaker 7: taking on the Nationals. Kyle Quantrell scheduled to pitch for
- 7:32Speaker 7: the Rangers Astros tonight against the Angels at Dykin Park.
- 7:40Speaker 7: Christian Javier expected to pitch for the Astros. We will
- 7:46Speaker 7: have that game beginning at six forty here on the zone.
- 7:53Speaker 7: Pete Crow Armstrong was pretty good last night in Chicago.
- 7:59Speaker 7: He had a two run walk off home run in
- 8:01Speaker 7: the bottom of the tent to breath their crosstown rival
- 8:04Speaker 7: White Sox seven to five.
- 8:09Speaker 8: That was the second of the game he hit a
- 8:13Speaker 8: first inning home run.
- 8:17Speaker 7: He became the seventh player in MLB history to hit
- 8:21Speaker 7: a leadoff home run and a walk off home run
- 8:24Speaker 7: in the same game, and by the way, he reached
- 8:27Speaker 7: the thirty thirty.
- 8:29Speaker 8: Club last night. He is a candidate for MVP.
- 8:37Speaker 7: The Arizona Diamondbacks have placed second basement Cotel Marte on
- 8:41Speaker 7: the restricted list that was announced prior to the game
- 8:46Speaker 7: at Boston last night. Marte was placed on the list
- 8:50Speaker 7: after he failed to show up at Finway Park for
- 8:53Speaker 7: the game. Manager Tory Lavello confirming but saying Martel was
- 9:00Speaker 7: quote fine, he said afterward, it's been a crazy day.
- 9:06Speaker 7: All I know is he's dealing with a personal issue.
- 9:10Speaker 7: We're trying to figure that out. He didn't show up today,
- 9:14Speaker 7: was placed on the restricted list, saying he's had very
- 9:18Speaker 7: little communication with him and was doing my best to
- 9:23Speaker 7: reach out to him. Marte was the subject of some
- 9:29Speaker 7: I believe racial slurs a year ago, and I believe.
- 9:35Speaker 8: He may have missed a game or two during that time. Stan,
- 9:40Speaker 8: you have something to add to that, So it.
- 9:43Speaker 9: Was borderline racial.
- 9:44Speaker 8: What happened was a fan was making horrible remarks about
- 9:49Speaker 8: his mother.
- 9:49Speaker 7: That's right, that's right. His mom had died, yes, and
- 9:53Speaker 7: the fan was heckling him very very badly.
- 9:58Speaker 8: So anyway, this this guy's a heck.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Of a player.
- 10:01Speaker 8: He's really a heck of a player. This may be
- 10:05Speaker 8: a surprise, but maybe not.
- 10:08Speaker 7: Bucky has poached a second Longhorn basketball player. This one
- 10:16Speaker 7: has played some ball. Jordan Pope, after being given an
- 10:23Speaker 7: extra year, is coming to College Station. He's had a
- 10:29Speaker 7: one hundred and thirty career starts. He's averaged thirteen and
- 10:34Speaker 7: a half points a game. He has shot forty three
- 10:37Speaker 7: percent from the field. Pope wrote on social media he
- 10:43Speaker 7: wanted to return to Austin, but Sean Miller had already
- 10:48Speaker 7: finalized his roster by the time the ruling was complete.
- 10:57Speaker 7: Great pickup for Bucky, by the way, And I want
- 11:01Speaker 7: to say that Jordan Pope was instrumental in the Texas
- 11:08Speaker 7: win here last year in College Station. I believe that
- 11:17Speaker 7: he had a pretty decent game against A and M
- 11:20Speaker 7: last spring here. Streaky shooter, but mad great pickup for
- 11:30Speaker 7: bucket Ball. And Bill Rasmussen has died. You may not
- 11:37Speaker 7: know that name, but you know the organization. He created,
- 11:46Speaker 7: the Entertainment and Sports Programming Network in nineteen seventy nine ESPN.
- 11:55Speaker 7: Rasmussen and his son conceived of the twenty four our
- 12:00Speaker 7: National Sports Network idea. How'd that turnout? He has been
- 12:07Speaker 7: battling Parkinson's. He maxed out his credit card with a
- 12:14Speaker 7: nine thousand dollars advance to acquire the space on a
- 12:20Speaker 7: satellite to put ESPN on the air. And I don't
- 12:27Speaker 7: know enough about this, but I'm guessing ESPN became wildly
- 12:37Speaker 7: more successful a than he ever dreamed, and then b
- 12:43Speaker 7: got away from what made him that way by turning
- 12:47Speaker 7: to politics. In the last ten years, Bill Rasmussen was
- 12:54Speaker 7: ninety three and a pioneer of sports programming. Okay, now
- 13:02Speaker 7: ESPN controls the world. We're going to take a break
- 13:08Speaker 7: where you've got a high school report coming up. We
- 13:11Speaker 7: are previewing the Aggies on our SEC preview. We're going
- 13:16Speaker 7: to hear from Mike Elko. We're going to talk to
- 13:19Speaker 7: Kurt Bodenhausen of Sportico. Still working on either tomorrow or Thursday.
- 13:29Speaker 7: The co directors and producers of a documentary called If
- 13:34Speaker 7: These Walls Could Rock, the untold story of the legendary
- 13:41Speaker 7: West Hollywood Sunset Marquee Hotel when rock and roll stars
- 13:48Speaker 7: were accused of throwing furniture out the window and all
- 13:51Speaker 7: around drugging, drinking and debauchery.
- 13:56Speaker 8: The sunset. Marquee was in the middle of it.
- 14:00Speaker 7: But quietly, believe it or not, we'll hear the story
- 14:04Speaker 7: from these guys. It's quite the story either tomorrow or Thursday,
- 14:10Speaker 7: which made you have to listen both days. I'm sorry,
- 14:13Speaker 7: that's just the way it is. All right, we're gonna.
- 14:15Speaker 8: Take a break. This portion of the program is brought
- 14:18Speaker 8: to you by Chad Jones Law.
- 14:21Speaker 10: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 14:24Speaker 10: do injuries from car recks. But you didn't sign up
- 14:26Speaker 10: to being a car wreck with someone who wasn't paying attention.
- 14:29Speaker 10: It was their fault and now you're left to deal
- 14:31Speaker 10: with the consequences. You need to see a doctor, and
- 14:33Speaker 10: you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help. We've been
- 14:36Speaker 10: helping our neighbors for more than two decades. Stop getting
- 14:39Speaker 10: frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember, don't get mad.
- 14:43Speaker 10: Get Chad. Call Chad Jones Law at ninety seven nine
- 14:45Speaker 10: five to ninety five five thousand, or go online to
- 14:48Speaker 10: Chad Jones Law dot com.
- 14:51Speaker 4: You could hear Reggy Football online head ready eggyland dot com.
- 15:00Speaker 11: M hm.
- 15:07Speaker 12: H, please.
- 15:11Speaker 1: Veal see the kids, Chin and crist run things to
- 15:25Speaker 1: see indeed.
- 15:29Speaker 8: Living wonder every well.
- 15:39Speaker 7: He was friends.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Mean this old man, thisprid fading.
- 15:48Speaker 7: For I believe this is my all time favorite Cherry
- 15:54Speaker 7: Jeff song. He didn't write it, Ky Clark wrote it, uh,
- 15:58Speaker 7: based on a very true story, true relationship with a
- 16:02Speaker 7: West Texas oil man that he had with him surrogate father.
- 16:06Speaker 7: When I heard this song man, and when he did
- 16:11Speaker 7: it in concert. Man, we are highlighting Vivaterlingui today because
- 16:20Speaker 7: it is the fifty third anniversary of this album. I
- 16:26Speaker 7: will say again, if not the most important album, which
- 16:32Speaker 7: I think I could make a case for, certainly in
- 16:35Speaker 7: the top two to three of the most important albums
- 16:39Speaker 7: in the history of Texas music and singing and songwriting.
- 16:45Speaker 7: And that's I got no qualm saying that at all. Okay, Caleb,
- 16:54Speaker 7: Ha's a high school report for us.
- 16:56Speaker 13: Welcome into the high school report. I'm Kayler Rapley, and
- 16:59Speaker 13: today we are umping out to the Polaris Fun Center
- 17:01Speaker 13: phone line to visit with the head coach of the
- 17:04Speaker 13: A and M Consolidated Tigers football team, mister Brandon Schmidt coach,
- 17:09Speaker 13: thanks for joining me today, absolutely, thanks for having us. Yes, sir,
- 17:14Speaker 13: we are on the home stretch of the preseason, getting
- 17:19Speaker 13: ready for Week one of the Texas high school football season.
- 17:24Speaker 13: And it's been a long summer and spring without football,
- 17:27Speaker 13: but it is almost here.
- 17:29Speaker 14: How has this off season been for your tigers?
- 17:32Speaker 15: Really good off season? You know for us it goes
- 17:35Speaker 15: all the way back to boot camp in January and
- 17:37Speaker 15: then our you know, off season program and into spring
- 17:40Speaker 15: ball and then in the summer strings and conditioning camp.
- 17:42Speaker 15: So you know, I think kids have been great, made
- 17:44Speaker 15: a lot of progress, you know, bigger, fast, or stronger,
- 17:47Speaker 15: and you know, see if we can get it to
- 17:49Speaker 15: pay off this season.
- 17:51Speaker 13: So you are going into your fourth year as the
- 17:54Speaker 13: head coach at AM Consolidated, and in two of your
- 17:58Speaker 13: three seasons you've won at least ten games, a very
- 18:01Speaker 13: successful program and you inherited a very successful program as well,
- 18:05Speaker 13: a team that's had a lot of success in five
- 18:08Speaker 13: A Division one. So does that put pressure on you
- 18:11Speaker 13: and your kids to keep up that winning tradition?
- 18:15Speaker 15: You know, one of the things our kids here a
- 18:17Speaker 15: lot is the pressure is a privilege, and you know,
- 18:20Speaker 15: we're all you know, me included, our kids, included, our
- 18:23Speaker 15: coaching staff included, we're all. We're all blessed and fortunate
- 18:26Speaker 15: enough to be a part of a program that's been
- 18:28Speaker 15: a really strong program for a really long time. And
- 18:31Speaker 15: so with that, I think come high expectations. But I
- 18:35Speaker 15: think that's what you want. I think you want to
- 18:36Speaker 15: have those high expectations to help push you and drive you.
- 18:40Speaker 15: And you know, I think the expectations are are a
- 18:44Speaker 15: good thing. I think they build they build stronger programs.
- 18:48Speaker 14: So this year will look a little bit different.
- 18:51Speaker 13: It is still a nine team district in District twelve,
- 18:55Speaker 13: but only retaining four of the teams from the past realignment,
- 18:59Speaker 13: so a lot of new teams that you will be
- 19:01Speaker 13: having to go up against.
- 19:03Speaker 14: How much of a challenge is that going to be
- 19:04Speaker 14: for you and your team?
- 19:05Speaker 15: Well, you know, I think you know number one, the
- 19:08Speaker 15: nine team districts, which are actually a little bit familiar
- 19:10Speaker 15: with because our last realignment was also a nine team district,
- 19:13Speaker 15: but nine team district, so you know, it's top four
- 19:17Speaker 15: teams to go to the playoffs. And there's districts out
- 19:19Speaker 15: there that have six teams in them, So you know,
- 19:20Speaker 15: when you're in a nine team district. It's it makes
- 19:23Speaker 15: things a little bit tougher. It makes every week a
- 19:25Speaker 15: little bit more important.
- 19:25Speaker 5: I think.
- 19:27Speaker 15: And then you know, lastly, you only have two non
- 19:29Speaker 15: district games, and so you know, by week three, you know,
- 19:32Speaker 15: you've got to be clicking on all cylinders because we're
- 19:34Speaker 15: going to play a really tough district schedule. So I think,
- 19:38Speaker 15: you know, the move, you know, realignment was I think
- 19:42Speaker 15: put us in a stronger district overall, from top to bottom.
- 19:46Speaker 15: And I think there's some really really quality opponents in
- 19:48Speaker 15: our district College Station and Wife and Georgetown and Shoemaker,
- 19:54Speaker 15: and so I think from top to bottom, our district
- 19:57Speaker 15: is probably as tough as any districts in the state.
- 19:59Speaker 13: So your Tigers are going to be a pretty experienced
- 20:02Speaker 13: team this season, bringing back twelve total starters, and did
- 20:08Speaker 13: lose a couple of big names from the skill position
- 20:11Speaker 13: on the offense, but overall that group seems to be intact.
- 20:15Speaker 14: How much of an advantage is that for you as
- 20:17Speaker 14: a coach.
- 20:18Speaker 15: Yeah, you know, I think on the offensive side of
- 20:21Speaker 15: the ball, we return a lot of kids who played
- 20:23Speaker 15: last year, both starters and backups, who are big contributors offensively.
- 20:29Speaker 15: I feel like we're, you know, on August twelfth or thirteenth,
- 20:33Speaker 15: whatever today is. I think we're in a good place. Offensively,
- 20:36Speaker 15: we just got to continue to work and get better,
- 20:39Speaker 15: and I expect us to execute at a high level. Defensively,
- 20:43Speaker 15: I think we still got a couple of holes that
- 20:44Speaker 15: we're trying to fill, but we have some kids who
- 20:47Speaker 15: are trying to step up and fill those roles for us.
- 20:49Speaker 15: But same thing defensively, We've got a lot of kids
- 20:52Speaker 15: who got a lot of playing time last year, and
- 20:54Speaker 15: I think when you return that leadership and when you
- 20:56Speaker 15: return those kids who have been there and done that
- 20:58Speaker 15: on Friday night, I think it leads to high expectations.
- 21:02Speaker 15: But I also thinks it's kids who are ready to
- 21:03Speaker 15: meet those expectations.
- 21:05Speaker 13: So looking at your schedule this year, we mentioned that
- 21:09Speaker 13: it is going to be a very tough district once again.
- 21:13Speaker 13: But the fun thing with the two college station schools
- 21:17Speaker 13: being in the same district is that you always get
- 21:19Speaker 13: to play your biggest rival every single season. You've won
- 21:22Speaker 13: that game two of the three seasons that you've been
- 21:25Speaker 13: the coach at Kansol. Are the emotions around that game
- 21:28Speaker 13: different from a normal week?
- 21:30Speaker 15: You know, I mean, I'd love to say no, but
- 21:32Speaker 15: that's not true. You know, Yeah, the emotions are different,
- 21:36Speaker 15: and I love, I love the rivalry game. Coach Pryor
- 21:39Speaker 15: and his staff are phenomenal. They run a great program
- 21:42Speaker 15: over there, and I think just the community involvement that
- 21:48Speaker 15: we get from that game. It's very much a small
- 21:50Speaker 15: town Texas field to it. It's going to be a
- 21:53Speaker 15: packed house, and it's going to be two really good
- 21:55Speaker 15: football teams getting after it and so and the kids
- 21:59Speaker 15: they all know each other. So I would say it's
- 22:02Speaker 15: a rivalry, yes, uh, And I think to a large extent,
- 22:05Speaker 15: it's a it's a friendly rivalry. Our kids know their kids,
- 22:08Speaker 15: and their kids know our kids, and they hang out
- 22:10Speaker 15: some and and all of those things. So I think
- 22:13Speaker 15: I think the game it's it's just a lot of fun.
- 22:15Speaker 15: It's it's a great experience for our kids. But it's
- 22:18Speaker 15: a great experience for our community too.
- 22:20Speaker 13: And with the nine team district that you are in,
- 22:23Speaker 13: you only get two non district games, and this year
- 22:27Speaker 13: they're both on the road. I know, in your non
- 22:29Speaker 13: district you want to play teams that are going to
- 22:32Speaker 13: challenge you and get you ready for the district games.
- 22:35Speaker 13: But on the other side of that, you only have
- 22:38Speaker 13: these two games before the real meat of your schedule
- 22:42Speaker 13: gets started. So what goes into choosing the teams that
- 22:44Speaker 13: you play in the non district I.
- 22:47Speaker 15: Mean, really a lot goes into it. Sometimes it's the
- 22:50Speaker 15: answer is are simple at finding someone who's willing to
- 22:52Speaker 15: play you. But you know we're gonna you know, you
- 22:58Speaker 15: mentioned that. You know, we've been a successful program for
- 23:00Speaker 15: a long time, and I've been doing this long enough
- 23:03Speaker 15: where I'm not trying to schedule wins for us in
- 23:05Speaker 15: non district games. I'm trying to schedule teams that are
- 23:07Speaker 15: going to be tough, quality opponents that are going to
- 23:10Speaker 15: make us better. You know, for us, the season is
- 23:13Speaker 15: not about weeks one and two. It's about, you know,
- 23:15Speaker 15: weeks eleven, twelve, thirteen and into the playoffs. And so
- 23:19Speaker 15: we want to play teams that are going to be
- 23:22Speaker 15: a challenge for us. They're going to make us work,
- 23:23Speaker 15: they're going to make us get better, teams that are
- 23:25Speaker 15: going to be well coached. And both of those teams,
- 23:28Speaker 15: Cedar Park and Huntsville both really really, really tough opponents
- 23:33Speaker 15: that that are going to be good games. And so
- 23:36Speaker 15: we're excited about playing those two games.
- 23:38Speaker 13: And like I said earlier, and am consolidated pretty experienced
- 23:43Speaker 13: squad this season, but there are still holes to be
- 23:47Speaker 13: filled from seniors that left. So who are some players
- 23:51Speaker 13: that you expect to take a step up and fill
- 23:54Speaker 13: those fill those holes this season?
- 23:57Speaker 15: Yeah, you know, I think you know, offensively, I only
- 24:01Speaker 15: return to really really one starter on the offensive line.
- 24:06Speaker 15: Uh and so uh, you know, really just a new
- 24:09Speaker 15: group up front. So I'm gonna need all those guys
- 24:11Speaker 15: to step up and perform well. But amar and Moore
- 24:15Speaker 15: at receiver is uh is potentially going to be a
- 24:17Speaker 15: really special receiver. Uh and it's going to have a
- 24:20Speaker 15: huge year for US. So he's he's transitioning from quarterback
- 24:24Speaker 15: to receiver and uh and I think he's going to
- 24:26Speaker 15: be special for US.
- 24:28Speaker 16: Uh.
- 24:28Speaker 15: So kids like Mariy you know, Chunky are running back
- 24:31Speaker 15: to Marlon Mooring. He's been on varsity since his sophomore
- 24:33Speaker 15: year and he's been really solid running back. I expect
- 24:37Speaker 15: him to have a breakout year this year. Joe Young
- 24:41Speaker 15: Uh at tight end, UH need him to need him
- 24:44Speaker 15: to step up and have a big season for US.
- 24:46Speaker 15: And then uh, defensively, Jackson Solomon's a returning starter who
- 24:50Speaker 15: needs to step into a leadership role. Leo Beffert, same
- 24:53Speaker 15: type of deal. Returning starter needs to step into a
- 24:55Speaker 15: leadership role. And then you know, really we need to
- 24:59Speaker 15: find and a d lineman or two that is ready
- 25:02Speaker 15: to step into a you know, not a big time role,
- 25:05Speaker 15: but somebody who's going to step in there and play
- 25:07Speaker 15: a bunch of snaps for us and be a solid
- 25:09Speaker 15: player for us.
- 25:10Speaker 13: All right, coach, last question for you here. After going
- 25:14Speaker 13: two rounds deep into the playoffs last season nine to
- 25:17Speaker 13: three finish before getting knocked out by Port Arthur Memorial,
- 25:21Speaker 13: who also knocked out the college station Cougar's in the
- 25:24Speaker 13: next round, So what is success going to look like
- 25:28Speaker 13: for the Tigers this year and what are.
- 25:30Speaker 14: The keys to get there?
- 25:31Speaker 15: Yeah, you know, we tell our kids our program, we
- 25:35Speaker 15: want our program to be, you know, one of the
- 25:37Speaker 15: top you know eight programs in the state of Texas
- 25:40Speaker 15: year in and year out. We want to be playing
- 25:42Speaker 15: in December. We want to be a team that's mentioned
- 25:46Speaker 15: a year in and year out as a team that's
- 25:48Speaker 15: got an opportunity to play for a state championship. And
- 25:51Speaker 15: right now, that's not where our program is we haven't
- 25:53Speaker 15: I would say, we haven't reached that status yet. And
- 25:57Speaker 15: so you know, for us, a successful season on the
- 25:59Speaker 15: field is going to be playing in December. It's going
- 26:01Speaker 15: to be you know, getting to the quarterfinals and be
- 26:04Speaker 15: playing games in December. That that's really kind of where
- 26:08Speaker 15: we want our program to be.
- 26:09Speaker 17: Uh.
- 26:09Speaker 15: You know, in order to get there, it takes a
- 26:11Speaker 15: lot of things. Number one, it takes uh, it takes
- 26:13Speaker 15: staying healthy. Number two, it takes a little bit of
- 26:17Speaker 15: luck on the draw from you know, your your playoff opponents.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Uh.
- 26:20Speaker 15: And I think number three and maybe most important is
- 26:23Speaker 15: is your players. Your team has to love each other
- 26:28Speaker 15: and love playing football with each other. I think so
- 26:31Speaker 15: many times, you know, teams that that lose in the playoffs,
- 26:33Speaker 15: they are teams that are really good, and they are
- 26:35Speaker 15: teams that are talented and can win, but when they
- 26:38Speaker 15: get to you know, November, they're they're tired of playing football.
- 26:42Speaker 15: You know, the seasons are grind and it's a it's
- 26:44Speaker 15: a long tough season, and the kids have to love
- 26:46Speaker 15: each other and they have to be close knit, and
- 26:48Speaker 15: they have to want to play football. So uh, you know,
- 26:51Speaker 15: for me, those those three things are always the things
- 26:54Speaker 15: when you see teams who play in December. Uh, they're healthy,
- 26:57Speaker 15: and they love each other, and they love playing football
- 27:00Speaker 15: with each other, and they got a good playoff draw.
- 27:02Speaker 13: All right, coach, Well, I appreciate your time today. Good
- 27:04Speaker 13: luck this season.
- 27:05Speaker 15: Absolutely, I appreciate you. Thank you.

- 28:29Speaker 7: Our high school report normally, when we're finished with our
- 28:33Speaker 7: SEC preview will be Tuesdays and Thursdays at four thirty.
- 28:38Speaker 7: We have moved Caleb to four point fifteen because of
- 28:40Speaker 7: our SEC preview, which will last another week. Okay, we've
- 28:48Speaker 7: got LSU tomorrow, we've got Mississippi State. I don't think
- 28:56Speaker 7: we've done Arkansas yet. We've got Arkansas, We've got Texas.
- 29:01Speaker 7: But a week from today we've got our previews, the
- 29:06Speaker 7: most listen to radio program in the world. We've determined
- 29:09Speaker 7: we will be making our picks and let you know
- 29:12Speaker 7: how everyone in the SEC will finish in what order
- 29:17Speaker 7: and you can plan your season accordingly. I don't want
- 29:21Speaker 7: to discourage some of you from not going to football
- 29:24Speaker 7: games once you hear all of my predictions.
- 29:27Speaker 8: But that's you know.
- 29:30Speaker 7: I can't help that, and I can't help the fact
- 29:32Speaker 7: that gamblers are listening from all of the world. I
- 29:36Speaker 7: just there's nothing I can do about that. I will
- 29:38Speaker 7: just say it is for entertainment purposes only. Please no
- 29:42Speaker 7: gambling coming up. We have got our sec preview of
- 29:47Speaker 7: the Aggies. We're going to hear from coach Elko before
- 29:51Speaker 7: the hour is done.
- 29:55Speaker 8: Tomorrow.
- 29:55Speaker 7: Scott Clindennon will be with us. We're going to hear
- 29:58Speaker 7: from offensive coordinator Holman Wiggins tomorrow. He met with the
- 30:03Speaker 7: media today and we've got stuff to do before the
- 30:09Speaker 7: week is up. Ryan will be here, I think, with
- 30:13Speaker 7: Caleb on Friday, if I'm not mistaken, hosting the show,
- 30:20Speaker 7: and a week from Friday, both Kirk Bolls and Tony
- 30:25Speaker 7: Catalina will rejoin me for the football stretch.
- 30:31Speaker 8: And it happens quickly every year. Once it gets started,
- 30:36Speaker 8: it goes in a hurry.
- 30:39Speaker 7: Sefchek Service center is open right now until six o'clock

- 33:23Speaker 7: real life, real music, so much fun.
- 33:27Speaker 22: Uh.
- 33:28Speaker 8: Terry Hendrix was terrific.
- 33:31Speaker 11: It was just.
- 33:33Speaker 8: It was a great evening and really really fun to
- 33:42Speaker 8: to have those folks with us.
- 33:44Speaker 5: And and.
- 33:48Speaker 7: I hope you can get out there, uh, and what
- 33:51Speaker 7: they're doing for for singers and songwriters. And I learned
- 33:55Speaker 7: last night there's gonna be a singer songwriter festival in October.
- 33:59Speaker 7: That's going to be and there are some great people
- 34:02Speaker 7: coming in for that for two days. All right, onto
- 34:08Speaker 7: our SEC preview. You know, the Aggies were on their
- 34:11Speaker 7: way to a really special season last year, but faltered
- 34:14Speaker 7: in their last two games. They were turned five starters
- 34:18Speaker 7: on offense, but also add needed offensive line experience from
- 34:23Speaker 7: the portal. The biggest issue is Marcel Reid's development at quarterback.
- 34:28Speaker 7: Reid says he knows he has to improve in several areas.
- 34:33Speaker 21: I want to go up in, you know, passing touchdowns
- 34:36Speaker 21: and rushing touchdowns definitely ours, and completion percentage as well.
- 34:40Speaker 21: I think all that being said, need I need to
- 34:43Speaker 21: eliminate the turnovers for sure. It's been talked about and
- 34:47Speaker 21: I know it. It's obvious. So just that eliminate turnovers
- 34:51Speaker 21: for myself and not making bad plays worse.
- 34:53Speaker 7: Defensively, the secondary has a chance to be special, but
- 34:57Speaker 7: the team suffered heavy losses up front, and linebacker Damian
- 35:01Speaker 7: Sanford is recovering from a spring game injury and it
- 35:05Speaker 7: remains to be seen if we'll play in the first
- 35:07Speaker 7: few games. Sanford understands that it or to be better.
- 35:11Speaker 7: This unit has to be focused every play.
- 35:14Speaker 3: I feel like if you stay more consistent, like you
- 35:16Speaker 3: have a lot more success. You know, like not being consistent,
- 35:20Speaker 3: you got a lot of like things happened during during
- 35:22Speaker 3: the season. You have you know, ups and downs during games,
- 35:27Speaker 3: you have like that, you create bad habits and stuff
- 35:29Speaker 3: like that. So I feel like being consistent this year
- 35:31Speaker 3: is gonna help us progress.
- 35:33Speaker 7: A and M has five road conference games and at
- 35:37Speaker 7: Gauntlin November, at South Carolina, at Oklahoma, home games against
- 35:42Speaker 7: Tennessee and Texas. Elko says finishing strong will be the
- 35:46Speaker 7: difference this year.
- 35:47Speaker 22: We know we've got a challenging schedule. Everybody in this
- 35:50Speaker 22: league does. As we've added the ninth game. We're playing
- 35:53Speaker 22: five on the road. That's going to make for big challenges,
- 35:56Speaker 22: but those are challenges as a program that we're ready
- 35:58Speaker 22: to meet head on. We're excited for the opportunity to
- 36:01Speaker 22: go out and compete, to finish at a better clip
- 36:04Speaker 22: than we have the last two years, and to start
- 36:07Speaker 22: bringing trophy and hardware to college station.
- 36:09Speaker 8: And so tomorrow we'll look at LSU.
- 36:13Speaker 7: Our SEC preview is presented by MSc opu's First Financial

- 38:26Speaker 7: All right, we continue the rest of the week and
- 38:30Speaker 7: into next week with our SEC preview coming up. We're
- 38:36Speaker 7: going to hear from Mike elko He and Holman Wiggins,
- 38:39Speaker 7: the offensive coordinator, met with the media after practice today.
- 38:43Speaker 7: We'll hear what the coach had to say, and then
- 38:48Speaker 7: Kurt Bodenhausen from Sportico is going to join me after
- 38:52Speaker 7: the top of the hour. It has been crazy lately
- 38:58Speaker 7: and professionals, the values of these franchises twelve and a
- 39:05Speaker 7: half billion for the Lakers, almost four billion for the Padres.
- 39:10Speaker 7: When we used to value everything in sports franchise in
- 39:16Speaker 7: the millions. Now we are in the billions. It is outrageous.
- 39:25Speaker 7: I'm going to ask him. This is why I have
- 39:29Speaker 7: a show, because I'll ask questions like, Hey, Kurt, what's
- 39:32Speaker 7: the deal? The fighting Jerry joneses estimated to be worth
- 39:42Speaker 7: fifteen and a half the billion dollars. Fifteen and a
- 39:46Speaker 7: half billion dollars.
- 39:51Speaker 8: Yeah, that's crazy, isn't it. Okay, we're going to take
- 39:55Speaker 8: a break.

- 41:14Speaker 27: The Houston Astros continue their home stand against division opponents
- 41:17Speaker 27: tonight as they welcome the Angels for a three game series.
- 41:20Speaker 27: So far, the Astros have the season series lead over
- 41:23Speaker 27: the Halo six games to four, with the Astros sweeping
- 41:26Speaker 27: their most recent meeting in late July. The pitching battle
- 41:29Speaker 27: will be interesting as George Classon takes the mound for
- 41:31Speaker 27: La against Christian Javier for Houston. Both right handersavres well
- 41:36Speaker 27: over five and then well over six for Xavier. While
- 41:38Speaker 27: the Angels don't look scary by their record, their offense
- 41:41Speaker 27: can still deal some damage, with Mike Trout and Zach
- 41:43Speaker 27: Netto tied with twenty home runs, but neither stand in
- 41:46Speaker 27: comparison to yord On Alvarez, who's betting three twenty one
- 41:49Speaker 27: on the year with thirty six over the fence for Houston.
- 41:51Speaker 27: The key for the Astros will be limiting home runs,
- 41:54Speaker 27: as the Angels are twenty and eight when they hit
- 41:56Speaker 27: at least two home runs. First pitch is set for
- 41:58Speaker 27: seven to ten from dyke In Park with coverage on
- 42:00Speaker 27: the Space City Home Network. With your Houston Astros Report,
- 42:03Speaker 27: I'm Jen Nelson.
- 42:04Speaker 4: The Louis Belina Show, presented by cc Electric.
- 42:07Speaker 7: College football offenses are going back to old school tempo
- 42:12Speaker 7: is dead.
- 42:13Speaker 8: Defenses have caught up. Have you seen that? Have you
- 42:16Speaker 8: noticed that?
- 42:17Speaker 28: Yeah? Well, o' Conwelly had a really good story late
- 42:20Speaker 28: last week about trends in college football, and that was
- 42:24Speaker 28: one of them too. You know, Ohio State famously on
- 42:28Speaker 28: a famous thing and a lot of people realized it
- 42:29Speaker 28: until late in the year. They were the second slowest
- 42:32Speaker 28: team in college football, and it kind of goes against
- 42:36Speaker 28: conventional wisdom because if you've got the best team, you
- 42:39Speaker 28: want the most plays. One interesting thing about that, which
- 42:42Speaker 28: I hadn't thought about, but it makes obviously makes sense,
- 42:44Speaker 28: is teams going for in. Part of the story too,
- 42:48Speaker 28: was how there's less drive, teams are going slower and
- 42:52Speaker 28: there's less offensive possession, and part of that is because
- 42:55Speaker 28: teams are going forward on fourth down more and having
- 42:57Speaker 28: greater success.
- 42:58Speaker 4: Hang out with Louie Day's eleven to two and was
- 43:01Speaker 4: only eleven and fifty am and ninety three point seven
- 43:04Speaker 4: that film.
- 43:20Speaker 1: A Little Bird, Don't see the Bone now INDUSU sady
- 43:29Speaker 1: to falling? Watch the over on no indusive?
- 43:42Speaker 5: So the thoughts, the go back.
- 43:49Speaker 11: Picture of that, the.
- 43:53Speaker 7: Window game, Welcome back, thanks for it big with us.
- 43:58Speaker 7: You're here on a good day. We are celebrating the
- 44:01Speaker 7: recording of Viva Terlingua and Lukenbach, Texas. On this date,
- 44:07Speaker 7: August eighteenth, nineteen seventy three, the birth of an entire
- 44:16Speaker 7: music scene was launched. The birth of a town basically
- 44:25Speaker 7: was launched. Nobody knew anything about Lukenbach, Texas. Maybe maybe
- 44:34Speaker 7: a few people who lived in Fredericksburg, but it it
- 44:41Speaker 7: became a hangout.
- 44:44Speaker 8: Jerry jeff knew about it.
- 44:46Speaker 7: He and Hondo Crouched, the unofficial mayor of Luke and Bach,
- 44:49Speaker 7: were great friends.
- 44:52Speaker 8: And he picked this old old dance hall to do
- 44:58Speaker 8: this album.
- 45:01Speaker 7: They drove a production truck with all the equipment from
- 45:06Speaker 7: New York. It barely made it. Plugged it in outside
- 45:11Speaker 7: because there wasn't room inside, put up some posters. By
- 45:17Speaker 7: the way, that poster is iconic and will cost you
- 45:19Speaker 7: a fortune if you can get a hold of one.
- 45:24Speaker 8: And it made the cover of the Viva Lingua album.
- 45:30Speaker 7: So the rest, as we like to say, is history. Okay,
- 45:38Speaker 7: Mike Elco met with reporters today and we want to
- 45:45Speaker 7: thank coach Elco for making players available, for making coaches available,
- 45:49Speaker 7: for making himself available on a regular basis. We have
- 45:55Speaker 7: had years many around here that that wasn't always the case,
- 46:00Speaker 7: so it's nice to have a coach who understands media availability.
- 46:07Speaker 5: I think you could see a lot of things in practice, obviously.
- 46:10Speaker 22: I think you can identify a lot of things just
- 46:14Speaker 22: from years of experience doing it and knowing what it
- 46:16Speaker 22: should look like. I think the biggest challenge you always
- 46:19Speaker 22: have in fall camp. And this is I think is
- 46:21Speaker 22: our biggest as we're battling through This is is there's
- 46:24Speaker 22: not a lot of relative comparison that you've played with
- 46:28Speaker 22: on a field in SEC football, right, And that's where
- 46:31Speaker 22: you know, if you had just lost the old line
- 46:33Speaker 22: and you knew what the D line was, or you
- 46:35Speaker 22: just lost the D line and you knew what the
- 46:36Speaker 22: old line was.
- 46:37Speaker 5: We've got two groups battling that are all.
- 46:40Speaker 22: Relative unknowns, right, And so I think until you get
- 46:42Speaker 22: to September fifth and start rolling it out there against
- 46:45Speaker 22: competitive people's it'll be a little bit of a wait
- 46:47Speaker 22: and see, we'll go to the.
- 46:49Speaker 27: Right Alex, you know, just what was kind of your
- 46:52Speaker 27: evaluation of the scrimmage this weekend?
- 46:54Speaker 12: Things you thought you guys did well and things are
- 46:56Speaker 12: trying to talk with your guys about continuing to improve as.
- 46:58Speaker 22: Fall Campington, Yeah, I thought, you know, typical first scrimmage
- 47:01Speaker 22: in fall camp.
- 47:02Speaker 5: I thought, operationally, we did good. I think one of
- 47:04Speaker 5: the things about the way we.
- 47:06Speaker 22: Run camp is is we start operationally from day one,
- 47:09Speaker 22: moving at a pace and a speed that is game like.
- 47:12Speaker 5: And so you know that hopefully means.
- 47:14Speaker 22: That there's not a big shock when we get in
- 47:15Speaker 22: there for scrimmage one and there wasn't And so I
- 47:17Speaker 22: thought both sides of the ball functioned operationally at a
- 47:20Speaker 22: really really good level. I thought there was inconsistency both
- 47:24Speaker 22: sides of the ball. I think that's that's naturally what
- 47:26Speaker 22: happens in a first scrimmage.
- 47:28Speaker 5: And so now you've got, you know, a marker of
- 47:30Speaker 5: where you are, and now you've got two weeks to
- 47:32Speaker 5: really grind through to kind of you know, get everything
- 47:35Speaker 5: where you needed to be for the season to start.
- 47:38Speaker 29: Kind of the left will use folk very highly about
- 47:42Speaker 29: your thoughts on the secondary. So I want to ask you,
- 47:44Speaker 29: how is that fronts that come along particularly you gotta
- 47:47Speaker 29: touched some of the interior, because that.
- 47:51Speaker 5: Was an interesting question to you.
- 47:54Speaker 22: Started with the secondaries, I was ready to answer a
- 47:57Speaker 22: secondary question.
- 47:58Speaker 5: Then we rolled into the D line front seven. On defense,
- 48:00Speaker 5: I think it's good.
- 48:01Speaker 22: I think we have a lot of bodies that are
- 48:03Speaker 22: capable of going out there and helping us. I think
- 48:05Speaker 22: the competition has been really really intense. Uh, it's playing
- 48:08Speaker 22: out like we hoped it would, which was, you know,
- 48:11Speaker 22: we felt like we had to go elevate the whole
- 48:13Speaker 22: level of everything, and so you brought in some guys
- 48:16Speaker 22: and you want to see them compete.
- 48:17Speaker 5: And so you see Ray Cooney and Noah McHale and.
- 48:19Speaker 22: Jordan Lockhart out there competing every day trying to earn
- 48:23Speaker 22: opportunities to play this year. And I think because of that,
- 48:26Speaker 22: all three of them are elevating every day. I think
- 48:28Speaker 22: you got the same thing at end, you got the
- 48:30Speaker 22: same thing at de tackle, and so it's been good.
- 48:33Speaker 22: It's been really competitive. I think we're starting to see
- 48:35Speaker 22: it rise and the level rise to where we want
- 48:37Speaker 22: it to be. And you know, we're, you know, getting
- 48:39Speaker 22: close to halfway through camp and it's got to keep
- 48:41Speaker 22: going r.
- 48:45Speaker 5: S O the rest of camp.
- 48:47Speaker 22: When you may want to ram down and when you're
- 48:49Speaker 22: going to get kind of depth.
- 48:51Speaker 5: Chart somewhat yeah, I don't the depth chart is.
- 48:54Speaker 22: I don't know. She'll put it out at some point
- 48:56Speaker 22: and it won't be right. But in terms of like
- 48:59Speaker 22: ramp down, we're still in the grind of it. I
- 49:02Speaker 22: think this week is the challenging week in my opinion,
- 49:05Speaker 22: because you know, the the time between the first scrimmage
- 49:08Speaker 22: and you know we'll go in the stadium again on Sunday.
- 49:10Speaker 22: We want scrimmage, but we'll go in the stadium again
- 49:12Speaker 22: and do a situational practice and and I think between
- 49:16Speaker 22: the two that's the hardest part of camp because that's
- 49:19Speaker 22: the you know, dead smack in the middle. Nothing seems
- 49:21Speaker 22: like it's it's uh on the horizon. The game still
- 49:24Speaker 22: seems pretty far away. And you know, for two practices,
- 49:26Speaker 22: I think we handled it really well and so we
- 49:29Speaker 22: got to keep going the rest of the week.
- 49:30Speaker 5: It's a big challenge.
- 49:31Speaker 22: What are leftronics like, uh, what's the competition like been
- 49:35Speaker 22: at the place taking and especially those two.
- 49:38Speaker 4: Guys that you're kind of cheerleader in the camp.
- 49:40Speaker 5: What's step out?
- 49:41Speaker 22: Yeah, I think they've been really really good. I think
- 49:43Speaker 22: they've been more consistent. I think you know, we've got
- 49:47Speaker 22: range and depth, which has been really good. And so
- 49:50Speaker 22: I think both those guys are kicking at a really
- 49:51Speaker 22: high level the right.
- 49:53Speaker 30: Tony Wood last week at Taco or Ashtans or Sakoo
- 49:56Speaker 30: just putting full heads on and how that kind of
- 49:58Speaker 30: reaches the elevation of like the tensity and he really said,
- 50:01Speaker 30: you know, because we go so hard, it doesn't really
- 50:03Speaker 30: ramp it up that much from your perspective, you see
- 50:05Speaker 30: it that way and just the way guys worked that
- 50:07Speaker 30: maybe it's just kind of you know, is what it
- 50:09Speaker 30: is when.
- 50:10Speaker 5: The fullhead or on.
- 50:10Speaker 22: Yeah, that's the hope, you know, the the hope for
- 50:12Speaker 22: us is is whether we're in helmets, whether we're in uppers,
- 50:15Speaker 22: whether we're in full pads, at the pace and the
- 50:17Speaker 22: tempo that we're going at it never drops, never changes.
- 50:21Speaker 5: And I think, uh, we have a group that I
- 50:23Speaker 5: think understands that.
- 50:24Speaker 22: Obviously year three, certainly the guys that have been with
- 50:26Speaker 22: us all the way through have a good feeling for
- 50:29Speaker 22: what the expectation and what the standard is. And certainly
- 50:32Speaker 22: the new guys, I think having gone through spring and
- 50:34Speaker 22: now into fall camp a little bit, I think understand
- 50:37Speaker 22: kind of what the pace and what the tempo is.
- 50:39Speaker 22: And you know, we think that for us is an
- 50:41Speaker 22: advantage for for why we've been able to start well
- 50:43Speaker 22: in seasons, will stay in the right.
- 50:46Speaker 7: That like all what do you people on all things
- 50:49Speaker 7: like specifically, it is a little bit more unique to.
- 50:51Speaker 22: Hearing them see in the past, home in Wiggans is
- 50:55Speaker 22: calling plays and so that's unique because that hasn't happened before.
- 50:59Speaker 22: Now with them choking a little bit like Yeah, it's
- 51:02Speaker 22: gonna look to the to the Native Ey, it's going
- 51:04Speaker 22: to look very very similar. And so I think we've
- 51:06Speaker 22: got a lot of weapons. I think we're trying to
- 51:07Speaker 22: figure out creatively how to get the ball to the
- 51:10Speaker 22: guys that we think can help impact the game. And
- 51:13Speaker 22: I think, again, at those skill positions, you've got a
- 51:16Speaker 22: lot of capable people fighting and scratching for touches, you know.
- 51:19Speaker 5: I think home It will do a really really good.
- 51:21Speaker 22: Job of finding creative ways to make sure we're getting
- 51:24Speaker 22: the ball in the right people's hands.
- 51:27Speaker 14: Maybe the coordinators or so the new roles and what's
- 51:30Speaker 14: the big teams are.
- 51:33Speaker 22: Yeah, I think both guys are doing a really really
- 51:35Speaker 22: good job. I think again, there's a lot of organization
- 51:38Speaker 22: that goes into camp. It's a little bit different than
- 51:41Speaker 22: actually being a game week coordinator. I think when you
- 51:44Speaker 22: talk about training camp, you're talking about organizational, You're talking
- 51:49Speaker 22: about mentality, setting the right mindset. I don't think being
- 51:53Speaker 22: an OC in training camp is what anybody outside of
- 51:55Speaker 22: this building actually thinks it is. It's not about calling
- 51:58Speaker 22: plays at all in training camp. So I think both
- 52:00Speaker 22: guys are doing a really really good job. And I
- 52:03Speaker 22: think the mindset for both sides of the ball is
- 52:05Speaker 22: really coming into what we wanted to be.
- 52:07Speaker 14: That great harder just kind of.
- 52:11Speaker 24: Quarterbacks and scrimage and more self particular event.
- 52:14Speaker 5: And not a big versus big part of Hamas. What
- 52:18Speaker 5: are you seeing difference?
- 52:18Speaker 22: WI, Yeah, I think I think, first of all, he
- 52:23Speaker 22: took care of the football better last year than anyone's
- 52:25Speaker 22: given him credit for it.
- 52:26Speaker 5: So I think, first of all, I think.
- 52:27Speaker 22: That nobody's ever actually asked me that, but a lot
- 52:30Speaker 22: of his picks last year that took that number to
- 52:32Speaker 22: where it went. We're end of game, pressing games, trying
- 52:35Speaker 22: to catch up, and I think there's times where in
- 52:37Speaker 22: those situations you're going to put the ball at risk
- 52:39Speaker 22: more naturally. And so you know, for a large part
- 52:43Speaker 22: of the season last year, I thought he protected the
- 52:45Speaker 22: ball really well, and even down the stretch outside I
- 52:47Speaker 22: thought the worst game was South Carolina. I thought, outside
- 52:49Speaker 22: of the South Carolina game, a lot of that was
- 52:51Speaker 22: pressing type situations. But I think he's taken the step
- 52:54Speaker 22: we hoped he would take. I think he's much more comfortable,
- 52:57Speaker 22: much more confident, knows the reeves, knows what the progressions
- 53:00Speaker 22: need to look like. I think his footwork looks cleaner,
- 53:02Speaker 22: the ball delivery looks cleaner, and so.
- 53:04Speaker 5: Yeah, again excited for him.
- 53:06Speaker 22: And then I think Brady continues to grow and develop
- 53:08Speaker 22: and you know, excited for what he's doing and how
- 53:11Speaker 22: he's working out there.
- 53:12Speaker 25: We'll wrap up with Alex.
- 53:13Speaker 22: You're right, Ho's dang it continued to progress throughout this
- 53:16Speaker 22: preseason really well.
- 53:19Speaker 11: Thank you.
- 53:20Speaker 5: Yep, thanks guys.
- 53:24Speaker 8: Love the two word answers and the sparring.
- 53:33Speaker 7: I think he enjoys that. That was coach Elco. We'll
- 53:37Speaker 7: hear from Homan Wiggins tomorrow. He also answered questions in
- 53:41Speaker 7: the media today following practice. Next week they will make
- 53:47Speaker 7: defensive coordinator a little Himphill available again. There'll be some
- 53:52Speaker 7: players yet to be announced that that we'll be able
- 53:56Speaker 7: to visit with on Friday.
- 53:59Speaker 8: And not too long.
- 54:01Speaker 7: It's just it was a halfway point of fall camp
- 54:05Speaker 7: today and Elko talked about it. Man, it's it's grind
- 54:08Speaker 7: city right now. It is hot, it is not game
- 54:12Speaker 7: week there in the middle of all of this, and
- 54:16Speaker 7: it's that's just that's part of it, man, That's that's
- 54:20Speaker 7: the way it works. We're gonna close out the hour.
- 54:24Speaker 7: I want to say again, Thank you to Kyle the
- 54:27Speaker 7: folks at Real Life, Real Music. Last night with Terry
- 54:30Speaker 7: Hendricks and Lloyd Mains. I knew Lloyd Mains was a
- 54:34Speaker 7: member of the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame. What
- 54:37Speaker 7: I didn't know he was one of the first three
- 54:42Speaker 7: members inducted into the ACL Hall of Fame. The other
- 54:45Speaker 7: two you might know, Willie Nelson and Stevie ray Vaughan.
- 54:51Speaker 7: He was the first class. This guy has been doing
- 54:54Speaker 7: music all his life and part of R. E. K's
- 54:59Speaker 7: band for so long, produce so many records, produced a
- 55:04Speaker 7: bunch of Jerry Jeff records. It was fun watching him
- 55:09Speaker 7: play guitar.
- 55:12Speaker 8: And the dobro.
- 55:14Speaker 7: He's good at what he does and he and Terry
- 55:19Speaker 7: Hendrix have collaborated for almost thirty years.
- 55:23Speaker 8: And you could tell last night it was fun. All Right,
- 55:26Speaker 8: we're going to take a break. We're going to close
- 55:28Speaker 8: out this hour.
- 55:29Speaker 7: We've got Kurt Bodenhausen in the wings warming up from Sportico.
- 55:34Speaker 7: We always look forward to visiting with him. He always
- 55:38Speaker 7: has his pulse on the business of sports.
- 55:43Speaker 8: I want to.
- 55:45Speaker 7: Ask that you call my friend Joe Orsac at Marblecraft
- 55:49Speaker 7: if you've been thinking about a remodel, a redo, a

- 56:32Speaker 7: my daughter's bathroom not long ago. He's done work for
- 56:35Speaker 7: us in the past. He's done work for a lot
- 56:37Speaker 7: of your neighbors, which is important when you're looking for
- 56:41Speaker 7: something like this.
