1:13
Speaker 3: off high school football this week, and of course college
1:15
Speaker 3: football as well, but across the Metro News and here
1:19

1:21
Speaker 3: this week. So we want to talk about the various

Speaker 3: can stay up to date with all of the high
1:26
Speaker 3: school sports across the state, as well as some of
1:29
Speaker 3: our coverage coming up this weekend. And there's been some
1:32
Speaker 3: changes in the structure of our football divisions. If you
1:36
Speaker 3: want to give us a call this morning to talk
1:38
Speaker 3: about day of that stuff here Morening, Welcome to three

Speaker 3: you want to talk with Fred Persinger about that. Brian
1:43
Speaker 3: mclaney will be with me at the bottom of the hour.
1:45
Speaker 3: A lot of breaking stories even late into the night
1:47
Speaker 3: on Friday and over the weekend, one of the various
1:49
Speaker 3: issues that's been going on with the Greenbrier and Governor Justice.
1:53
Speaker 3: We're going to get an update on all of that
1:55
Speaker 3: stuff this morning. And then Rob Reel from our sister
1:57
Speaker 3: station KWS Superstar Country ninety one. He's going to be
2:01
Speaker 3: over with us. He's the host of the morning show
2:04
Speaker 3: up Real Early. Rob was in Morgantown last week for
2:06
Speaker 3: our radiothon for w Medicine Children's and he's going to
2:10
Speaker 3: be with us to talk about his experiences up there.
2:11
Speaker 3: I think that our totals for that this weekend were
2:15
Speaker 3: just under one hundred and eighty thousand dollars that we
2:17
Speaker 3: raised for the hospital. We're going to get all the
2:19
Speaker 3: details about that before we get it out of here
2:21
Speaker 3: a little bit later on today. So thanks for tuning
2:23
Speaker 3: into five eighty Live. I'm Dale Cooper. Fred Persinger is
2:25
Speaker 3: up next and he's in studio with me this morning.
2:27
Speaker 3: How you doing this morning, Fred.
2:28
Speaker 4: I'm doing well. I'm doing well. That's the leak.
2:30
Speaker 3: That's pretty much it. That's pretty much what's going on.
2:33
Speaker 3: What's going to happen man high school football this time
2:36
Speaker 3: of year. Last week, the weather was a little bit
2:39
Speaker 3: more conducive to it. I think it gonna be hotter more,
2:41
Speaker 3: a little bit more hot this week, it looks like.
2:42
Speaker 3: But this is one of my favorite times of year
2:44
Speaker 3: for West Virginia. The just from the time that I
2:48
Speaker 3: was a kid, a bench rider for Capitol High Cougar's
2:51
Speaker 3: and Roger Jefferson's teams. I'm still a big fan of
2:54
Speaker 3: high school football in this state, and it's another seasons
2:56
Speaker 3: right upon us here, a little bit different this year.
2:58
Speaker 3: But first of all, before we get into that stuff,
3:01
Speaker 3: we got a lot of great programming on Metro News
3:03
Speaker 3: that folks are going to have to tune into.
3:05
Speaker 4: Yeah, we do. In fact, if you're talking about high
3:07
Speaker 4: school football, high School Sports Line get started again this
3:11
Speaker 4: Wednesday night from seven oh six until nine o'clock. Myself,
3:15
Speaker 4: along with Dave Jecklin and Joe Briccado, will be on
3:18
Speaker 4: there for two hours and we get guests from around
3:21
Speaker 4: the state. And one of the first guests we're gonna
3:23
Speaker 4: have Wayne Ryan from the WVSSAC to talk about. He
3:27
Speaker 4: is in charge of football as far as the SSAC
3:30
Speaker 4: is concerned, so I thought it'd be good to get
3:31
Speaker 4: Wayne on and we're gonna talk about I don't know.
3:35
Speaker 4: I don't even have a word for it anymore. I
3:37
Speaker 4: really don't. I think anyone that knows me. And I
3:40
Speaker 4: did a high school football report this morning on the network,
3:43
Speaker 4: and I said, if you know me. You know, I'm
3:45
Speaker 4: not a fan of four classes in West Virginia. I'm
3:48
Speaker 4: just not State's not large enough. I would have thought
3:50
Speaker 4: we'd go to two classes. We've been better off, and
3:53
Speaker 4: you're always gonna have somebody that complains if you're down
3:56
Speaker 4: on the bottom. N I get it, I really get it.
3:58
Speaker 4: But still you can't have four classes we have in
4:04
Speaker 4: Class Quada now. And I knew this was going to
4:06
Speaker 4: happen in football, I didn't think it's going to be
4:08
Speaker 4: this bad. But in Class Quade we have sixteen teams
4:11
Speaker 4: in Quad A football this year everyone makes the playoff.
4:15
Speaker 4: You can be oh to ten and make the playoff. Now,
4:18
Speaker 4: I don't know who wants to watch that first round
4:21
Speaker 4: game if you're an to ten team. Now that and
4:24
Speaker 4: ten team has played hard, they're just not there. They're
4:28
Speaker 4: just not good enough to be there. And I'm not
4:30
Speaker 4: under the opinion that they should be in the playoffs.
4:33
Speaker 4: I'm just not. I don't think. And this world is
4:37
Speaker 4: this crazy world everybody's supposed to get a trophy. I'm
4:40
Speaker 4: not of that conclusion either. It's just it's just not
4:43
Speaker 4: in me to think that way. So, but that's where
4:45
Speaker 4: we are, and uh, high school football will be fun.
4:49
Speaker 4: I said, high school Game Night, Dave and I Dave
4:52
Speaker 4: Jacklin and myself twenty third year.
4:54
Speaker 5: Unbelievable.
4:55
Speaker 4: It's you. You've been around radio a long long time
5:00
Speaker 4: if you have a program, whether it's on the local
5:02
Speaker 4: side or the network side. And this show has been
5:05
Speaker 4: going on for now. We've just completed twenty two years
5:08
Speaker 4: last December, and you've had the same two guys host,
5:11
Speaker 4: right right. That's the thing that amazes me. And then
5:14
Speaker 4: those twenty three years or twenty two years completed. I've
5:17
Speaker 4: missed one show and Dave has missed two shows. That's it.
5:22
Speaker 4: I mean you think about that. We don't get sick.
5:25
Speaker 4: I guess I don't know where. But we love what
5:28
Speaker 4: we do and it's a lot of fun and get
5:30
Speaker 4: to talk to a lot of people around the state,
5:32
Speaker 4: a lot of play by play guys, a lot of coaches,
5:35
Speaker 4: a lot of players are ZM Scholar Athlete of the
5:39
Speaker 4: week each week academic wise and athletic wise. We choose
5:43
Speaker 4: and it's just a lot of fun. And Game Night
5:45
Speaker 4: starts this Friday night at nine thirty on forty seven
5:49
Speaker 4: Radio stage.
5:50
Speaker 3: It's incredible, and of course every Friday after CHS gets
5:53
Speaker 3: done with its local coverage. By the way, local coverage
5:54
Speaker 3: this year is going to be married with Hurricane Football.
5:56
Speaker 3: So Hurricane Redskins are going to be the home on
5:59
Speaker 3: five Big wehs will carry every one of their games
6:02
Speaker 3: when Friday nights after their games will go straight to
6:03
Speaker 3: game night like we always do.
6:05
Speaker 5: And not to be too.
6:06
Speaker 3: Big of a fan boy of our own product, but
6:08
Speaker 3: I just have to kind of to put I've lived
6:10
Speaker 3: a little bit around. I've lived in different states, been
6:12
Speaker 3: a sports fan and every state that I've been in,
6:14
Speaker 3: been a radio fan in every state I've been in,
6:16
Speaker 3: because it's been in my blood for my whole life.
6:18
Speaker 3: This product doesn't exist in other states. No, it doesn't exist.
6:21
Speaker 6: Now.
6:21
Speaker 3: I don't care how big they there their high school
6:23
Speaker 3: football imprint is. It does not exist in other states.
6:25
Speaker 3: This is a unique property to West Virginia. It's incredible.
6:28
Speaker 4: Dave and I have always promised our listeners we will
6:30
Speaker 4: have every score of every game played on Friday night
6:34
Speaker 4: before we leave the air, and we've always done that.
6:36
Speaker 4: Now we're fortunate we have. I've noted we have sixty
6:40
Speaker 4: two games this weekend. Now getting scores for sixty two
6:45
Speaker 4: games that's a lot of work, it is. And I
6:46
Speaker 4: have a lot of young guys Joe Nelson from Morgantown
6:49
Speaker 4: and some I guess freshman is sophomore at WVU. They
6:55
Speaker 4: come and work for us. We feed them and give
6:58
Speaker 4: them money. If you're a college freshmen, well that's music
7:02
Speaker 4: to their ears, isn't it. But they work hard to
7:04
Speaker 4: get our scores for us. But sixty two games and
7:06
Speaker 4: kind of unusual this year. We got nine games on Thursday.
7:10
Speaker 4: That is weird for that number. We always get that
7:13
Speaker 4: three four, but we got nine, including our game that's
7:17
Speaker 4: going to be on Metro News television on Thursday night
7:20
Speaker 4: between Independence and Herbert Hoover. That's two. That's two classes
7:24
Speaker 4: or two football teams. Hoover's and Triple A and Independence
7:27
Speaker 4: and Single A are double A now, so they're going
7:30
Speaker 4: to get together and that's always going to be a
7:32
Speaker 4: great football game. So looking forward to that.
7:34
Speaker 5: From that beautiful new field out in l FU. That's
7:37
Speaker 5: going to be amazing.
7:38
Speaker 4: That's going to be one hundred and forty seven degrees.
7:42
Speaker 4: It's gonna be warm. It's gonna be warm. But that's okay. Uh,
7:44
Speaker 4: you know, I'm sure a lot of water breaks and
7:46
Speaker 4: all of that good kind of stuff. And those guys
7:48
Speaker 4: have been certainly going through it this summer in August
7:51
Speaker 4: where they had the two days and whatever they've been
7:53
Speaker 4: going through. But looking forward to it, I think it
7:56
Speaker 4: would be a great game. But again, nine games this
7:59
Speaker 4: Thursday in a total of sixty two this weekend, and
8:04
Speaker 4: some great games. There's no doubts there gonna be some
8:06
Speaker 4: great games.
8:06
Speaker 3: Do you think the Triple A division now becomes sort
8:08
Speaker 3: of the most interesting division.
8:10
Speaker 5: In some ways?
8:11
Speaker 3: What thirty one teams vying for sixteen spots. A lot
8:14
Speaker 3: of those teams were considered Capital and teams like that.
8:17
Speaker 3: We once were part of the bigger division in the school.
8:20
Speaker 3: It's kind of an odd uh. You're seeing some of
8:22
Speaker 3: the teams that's in Triple A now, it's kind of
8:23
Speaker 3: odd when you look at it.
8:24
Speaker 4: It is, indeed, and you mentioned Capital. How about Spring Valley?
8:27
Speaker 5: Right?
8:27
Speaker 4: Spring Valley is a team kidding me, they've always held
8:32
Speaker 4: their own in the big school vision and now they're
8:34
Speaker 4: in Triple A, which is kind of double A, right,
8:39
Speaker 4: you know? But I don't know. I think the way
8:40
Speaker 4: it breaks down this year and it shows you that
8:43
Speaker 4: we don't have enough teams in Class Quada because this
8:46
Speaker 4: weekend there's nineteen games in Class Single A, nineteen in
8:50
Speaker 4: Class Double A, fifteen in Class Triple A and nine
8:55
Speaker 4: in Quad A. Wow, that's it, just nine games. And
8:59
Speaker 4: I get there's a couple of teams that are not
9:01
Speaker 4: playing this weekend the University in Cabal, Midland. But still
9:07
Speaker 4: I don't know. It's not going to change. I talked
9:09
Speaker 4: with David. I talk with David Price a lot now,
9:12
Speaker 4: in fact, we were texting last night. And first and foremost,
9:16
Speaker 4: let me say this because I've seen a lot of
9:17
Speaker 4: social media stuff and all of this stuff going on,
9:20
Speaker 4: whether it's the reclassification or whether it's what happened with
9:23
Speaker 4: these twenty two teams that decided they didn't want to
9:27
Speaker 4: be where they are and they filed an appeal and
9:29
Speaker 4: that got approved, and all that has nothing to do
9:33
Speaker 4: with the SSAC. The SSAC is four people, and they
9:38
Speaker 4: are great people. I know all of them rather well.
9:41
Speaker 4: They are just tasked with enforcing the rules that are
9:44
Speaker 4: given to them by the Board of Directors, and the
9:47
Speaker 4: Board of Directors are the principles. That's who decides all
9:50
Speaker 4: this stuff. That's who decides reclassification as far as who
9:55
Speaker 4: decided to drop those twenty two teams down. That's the
9:58
Speaker 4: board of review, and that is that's men and women
10:03
Speaker 4: that are not even involved in the school system. But
10:04
Speaker 4: I got a couple maybe back up. They do have
10:07
Speaker 4: a couple that's involved, retired athletic directors, retired folks from
10:10
Speaker 4: the States Superintendent's office. But there's a doctor and I
10:14
Speaker 4: know the doctor extremely well, very very nice gentlemen. Uh,
10:18
Speaker 4: there's a couple of there's a lawyer. They're they're professional people.
10:22
Speaker 4: And I don't know, I don't know why they decided
10:26
Speaker 4: to let it drop down. In talking with the doctor,
10:29
Speaker 4: he said they felt like they had to. But to me,
10:33
Speaker 4: if they're going to say it's all about the safety
10:35
Speaker 4: of the youngster, okay, And and this comes at the
10:39
Speaker 4: time when men, the young man from Madison Middle School
10:44
Speaker 4: passed away because of a hard hit in practice, and
10:48
Speaker 4: you hate that, you hate that. You've got to have
10:50
Speaker 4: football safety. But I'm curious that team that maybe zero
10:54
Speaker 4: to ten in the playoffs is going to play a
10:57
Speaker 4: team that could easily be undefeated. Where's the football safety
11:01
Speaker 4: gonna come in there?
11:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, a team that has dedicated weight rooms and one
11:06
Speaker 3: hundred players to choose from, and you can sub out
11:09
Speaker 3: players and everybody's not playing two ways or whatever.
11:12
Speaker 4: Right, exactly right, And I think that can be an issue.
11:15
Speaker 4: But this is only good. This is only going to
11:18
Speaker 4: happen for this year.
11:19
Speaker 5: Now.
11:19
Speaker 4: I think they're back to the drawing board. I think
11:21
Speaker 4: there's going to be more reclassification and then somebody's not
11:23
Speaker 4: going to like it, and somebody's going to go to
11:26
Speaker 4: the Board of Review and it's on and on.
11:28
Speaker 3: Situation talking up, I want to talk locally just a moment.
11:31
Speaker 3: I'll cut you loose after this. But I'm fascinated with
11:34
Speaker 3: with coach Carpenter.
11:35
Speaker 5: Coming back to Capitol.
11:36
Speaker 4: How about that?
11:36
Speaker 3: I think that, of course Cart's been around forever. He's
11:39
Speaker 3: been a character around in the Canall Valley and in
11:42
Speaker 3: high school football forever. He had a show that he
11:45
Speaker 3: did with Carl Lee last year where he was pretty
11:48
Speaker 3: raw in some of the issues that he had with
11:51
Speaker 3: Capital and he was an advocate for his players and
11:53
Speaker 3: his kids. I don't think there was there was any
11:55
Speaker 3: question about that. With with coach karp coming back into
11:57
Speaker 3: this environment though, I mean just a few years that
12:00
Speaker 3: he's been away, it's a completely different landscape. Now that
12:03
Speaker 3: he's coming.
12:04
Speaker 4: Back to Yeah, carp thought it was bad four years ago. Hey,
12:07
Speaker 4: welcome man. Now you're right about you. And you mentioned
12:10
Speaker 4: Roger Jefferson. That's one of the greatest coaches of all time,
12:14
Speaker 4: no doubt. And uh, well that's when Capital they had
12:17
Speaker 4: it going on.
12:18
Speaker 5: They really did.
12:19
Speaker 4: But uh, getting back to John Carpenter and everybody knows
12:22
Speaker 4: him as carp Uh, he would run through a wall
12:25
Speaker 4: for his players, he really would, and his players would
12:29
Speaker 4: in reverse run through that same wall for him. So uh,
12:32
Speaker 4: I think it's great for Capital. I just don't, like
12:35
Speaker 4: you said, carp is going to step into something that
12:38
Speaker 4: he thought was bad before. Oh my goodness. But and
12:41
Speaker 4: they're one of those teams that was Quada. Now they're
12:43
Speaker 4: Triple A. And uh, you know they struggled as late.
12:46
Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I mean you well we saw scores last
12:49
Speaker 4: year Capital. You just shake your head. That's not the Capitol.
12:51
Speaker 5: Googles of what you were used to do with Capital.
12:54
Speaker 4: I thought I was gonna have to give what he
12:56
Speaker 4: would's resuscitation a couple of times. You know, he's huge
13:00
Speaker 4: Capital fan. But yeah, I just hope things get better.
13:04
Speaker 4: I hope that once football starts Thursday night. All this
13:07
Speaker 4: other stuff is behind its no one's thinking about it.
13:10
Speaker 4: Let's just think about football. Let's move forward, get to
13:13
Speaker 4: the place and by the way, playoffs again, the championships
13:15
Speaker 4: in Charleston. Now I'm moving from Wheeling after thirty years.
13:19
Speaker 4: Oh wow, that's a long time.
13:20
Speaker 5: To make us busy down here.
13:21
Speaker 4: It will, definitely, And the fact is quite simple enough.
13:24
Speaker 4: And I've talked with Tim Brady, who is running the
13:29
Speaker 4: show for the most part with this, and he knows
13:32
Speaker 4: they've got a huge, huge bar to climb over because
13:36
Speaker 4: Wheeling set that bar so high. They did it right.
13:39
Speaker 4: I was very fortunate every year that we were there
13:42
Speaker 4: all thirty years. I was a part of the broadcast team,
13:45
Speaker 4: and I saw it just continually get better and better
13:48
Speaker 4: and better and better. And they know here in Charleston
13:51
Speaker 4: that they can't do what they did before.
13:53
Speaker 5: Yeah, they just can't.
13:55
Speaker 4: I was part of the broadcast team when it was
13:58
Speaker 4: in Charleston, and I honestly went on a Saturday morning
14:01
Speaker 4: because I had the noon game to broadcast, and I
14:05
Speaker 4: got to the stadium at nine thirty. The gates were locked.
14:09
Speaker 4: So what yeah, I mean, come, you can't do that.
14:12
Speaker 4: So they know it's different people, totally different, and I
14:15
Speaker 4: think they're going to do a great job. I really
14:16
Speaker 4: do because I know the guys involved, Mike Harbagast and
14:21
Speaker 4: mister Varney who's now heading up Lakeleyfield or the University
14:25
Speaker 4: of Charleston Stadium, and they're doing a lot of work
14:28
Speaker 4: at the University of Charleston Stadium. They've done a lot
14:31
Speaker 4: of work in the locker rooms, They've done a lot
14:32
Speaker 4: of work on the press box area. So good for them.
14:34
Speaker 4: I think they know what they have to do and
14:36
Speaker 4: I think they'll deliver. I really do, and I hope
14:38
Speaker 4: they do because having the football in the capital city
14:41
Speaker 4: it's just good. Yeah, it was real good. So but
14:44
Speaker 4: you know, we start Thursday night. We'll see what happens.
14:47
Speaker 5: Can't wait.
14:48
Speaker 3: Of course, Game Night is high School Sports Line will
14:50
Speaker 3: debut this Wednesday night. That'll be at seven o'clock right
14:52
Speaker 3: here on five ADWCHS. Game Light will be Friday night
14:56
Speaker 3: after Hurricane and Hurricane plays Huntington. That's right, big game,
15:01
Speaker 3: Honeyton and Hurricane at Hurricanes. So Hurricane that has a
15:03
Speaker 3: home game, I guess Huntington this weekend. Of course, we're
15:05
Speaker 3: going to have all the Hurricans game right here on
15:07
Speaker 3: five ed WCHSD. You'll be able to hear that this weekend,
15:09
Speaker 3: followed by Fred and Game Night after that as well.
15:11
Speaker 4: What old guys doing the Playboy play for you?
15:13
Speaker 3: We're going to have one for Hurricane. It's going to
15:15
Speaker 3: be Chris Lawrence, Yeah, and Aaron Parker from the newsroom.
15:18
Speaker 5: So we're going to be doing the good. Yeah. It's
15:20
Speaker 5: gonna be a great team.
15:21
Speaker 3: It's going to be a fun time and we're looking
15:23
Speaker 3: forward to doing getting those things racked up and ready
15:26
Speaker 3: to go before I cut you lose West Virginia Penn State.
15:29
Speaker 3: You're part of the ten hours coverage that we're going
15:31
Speaker 3: to have on Saturday starting at eight o'clock right here
15:33
Speaker 3: on WHS. A lot of WU fans are like, hey,
15:36
Speaker 3: maybe we got a shot at this. The line official
15:38
Speaker 3: line came out over the weekend. It's a single digit line.
15:41
Speaker 3: How do you feel about the Mountaineers going hosting the
15:44
Speaker 3: Nitney Lines.
15:45
Speaker 4: I think, honestly, I don't think it's going to be
15:49
Speaker 4: a runaway game like a lot of people think. I
15:50
Speaker 4: really don't. I think the Mountaineers have a shot. It's
15:54
Speaker 4: tough to play at mylein Pushcar Stadium. That really is all.
15:58
Speaker 4: The weather's going to be good, and Garrett Green has
16:01
Speaker 4: proven that he can play with the big boys. I
16:04
Speaker 4: was reading something in Sports Illustrated yesterday in fact, and
16:09
Speaker 4: Penn State is ranked number eight and West Virginia, according
16:13
Speaker 4: to Sports Illustrated, is ranked number twenty five. So they're ranked,
16:17
Speaker 4: they're supposed to be good. I think Neil Brown has
16:20
Speaker 4: that it's got that program running in the right direction.
16:25
Speaker 4: Come on, well, we've got to be honest you you've
16:27
Speaker 4: got to think that Penn State's going to win. But
16:29
Speaker 4: could West Virginia pull the upset? Absolutely?
16:32
Speaker 3: And again we don't. You don't want to do moral victories,
16:35
Speaker 3: but there is something to be said about the quality
16:37
Speaker 3: of play. So if you see a team that's playing
16:39
Speaker 3: very well and just loses to a better team, because
16:41
Speaker 3: let's face it, I mean Penn State has been, you know,
16:44
Speaker 3: a perennial top fifteen team anyway for the last several years,
16:47
Speaker 3: I think that's a good step. And then you go
16:48
Speaker 3: and blow the doors off pitt and then you get.
16:50
Speaker 4: The thing going right, You got allbody in the between
16:52
Speaker 4: right exactly, and that home at six o'clock and this
16:55
Speaker 4: by the way his noon game for Penn State. That
16:57
Speaker 4: should be a night game, right, it's not, thank you, Fox.
17:01
Speaker 4: And then you go to Pitt so West Virginia rightfully,
17:05
Speaker 4: so could be two and one, one and two.
17:11
Speaker 5: Right, that's the big picking what you.
17:12
Speaker 4: Want, So we'll see what all. But he's going to
17:14
Speaker 4: be a win, we know that. But going to Pitt
17:18
Speaker 4: that's not easy either.
17:19
Speaker 5: No, that shouldn't be. But we got to win that game.
17:21
Speaker 5: They will. Fred, I appreciate your time. Thanks man. I
17:23
Speaker 5: appreciate you a lot of time on a Monday morning.
17:25
Speaker 3: That's Fred Persinger giving us his wisdom today when various
17:29
Speaker 3: high school and college football appreciate that. We'll catch Fred
17:31
Speaker 3: out on Wednesday, Thanks again, Fred for that. We're going

Speaker 3: and stories that brought to you from Andrew Donaldson. And
22:02
Speaker 3: he's going to be guest hosting for us on Tuesday
22:05
Speaker 3: and Wednesday of this week. I amppurciate to check in
22:07
Speaker 3: on that. I always get a positive response when Andrew
22:09
Speaker 3: comes on the show to either co host with me
22:13
Speaker 3: or to just be a guest on the program. Andrew
22:16
Speaker 3: makes media hits all over the place. He's on Fox
22:19
Speaker 3: News a lot, He's been on News Mix, Young Turk's, MSNBC,
22:23
Speaker 3: He's been on all the programs as a commentator. He
22:25
Speaker 3: has several different shows that are out there. He does
22:26
Speaker 3: a pretty good job. He does a real good job.
22:28
Speaker 3: And he's from West Virginia, a huge advocate of the
22:31
Speaker 3: Mountain state. And so he's going to be our special
22:33
Speaker 3: guest host filling in for Dave Allen on Tuesday and
22:36
Speaker 3: Wednesday of this week, or I'm sorry, on Wednesday and
22:39
Speaker 3: Thursday of this week. So I encourage you to check
22:40
Speaker 3: into that. That should be a pretty good time. Brian
22:43
Speaker 3: mclahaney will be coming up here in just a few moments.
22:45
Speaker 3: Waiting for Brad. We're going to get an update on
22:47
Speaker 3: all of the various stories that's been breaking across the state.
22:49
Speaker 3: We had stories, updates to stories and breaking news in
22:53
Speaker 3: relation to the various issues surrounding the governor, Governor Justice
22:57
Speaker 3: and his finances, a lot of news. It was late
23:00
Speaker 3: on Friday and over the weekend. We're going to get
23:02
Speaker 3: caught up to date on that of various things that
23:04
Speaker 3: had to do with the sale that has now been
23:07
Speaker 3: that has now been forestalled. It looks like that things
23:09
Speaker 3: are going to work out there, but we have issues
23:12
Speaker 3: with health insurance and with payroll and stuff like that.
23:15
Speaker 3: So we're going to find out more about that from
23:17
Speaker 3: by mclhaney, with an update as we get on a
23:19
Speaker 3: little bit later on. You know, Fred Persinger was in
23:23
Speaker 3: here for our first segment and we were talking a
23:26
Speaker 3: lot about our high school football coverage, and I just
23:28
Speaker 3: wanted to reiterate that for just a moment. Things are
23:31
Speaker 3: going to be a little bit different on our network
23:33
Speaker 3: of stations this year, so you want to keep an
23:35
Speaker 3: ear out for this on what we're going to have available,
23:37
Speaker 3: Like I mentioned to Fred. We are going to be
23:39
Speaker 3: and you've probably heard the promotions on the station, We're
23:41
Speaker 3: going to be following one particular team this year for
23:44
Speaker 3: w CCHS. We're going to be following Hurricane High School
23:48
Speaker 3: and all of their football games. We're going to carry
23:49
Speaker 3: all of Hurricanes football games right here on five eight
23:52
Speaker 3: w CCHS online at WCHS network dot com and you'll
23:55
Speaker 3: be able to find the games and podcasts after the
23:58
Speaker 3: games on that as well, so WCHS network dot com.
24:02
Speaker 3: So Chris Lawrence and Aaron Parker is going to be
24:03
Speaker 3: taking care of the duties on those games, and that's
24:05
Speaker 3: going to be every Friday night we'll be doing. It's
24:07
Speaker 3: the same thing that we always do, except this is
24:09
Speaker 3: going to be with just one team this year. We're
24:11
Speaker 3: going to be carrying Hurricane High School football every week
24:15
Speaker 3: on Friday nights or whenever they play this year on
24:17
Speaker 3: fave EDWCHS. We do have a second game that we're
24:20
Speaker 3: going to be doing this year as well, a little
24:22
Speaker 3: bit different, not on WCCHS, but one on our sister station. Actually,
24:24
Speaker 3: Rob Real will be over here in just a little
24:26
Speaker 3: while from Superstars Country ninety six to one KWS, and
24:29
Speaker 3: that station is going to be the home of the
24:31
Speaker 3: Herbert Hoover Huskies this season, So all of the Herbert
24:35
Speaker 3: Hoover games are going to be on ninety six to
24:37
Speaker 3: one KWS, and again every Friday night, they will have
24:40
Speaker 3: those games on their Playboy play is going to be
24:42
Speaker 3: provided by Tom Bragg and Matt Murphy. We'll be doing
24:46
Speaker 3: the Playboy play for the games over on ninety six
24:48
Speaker 3: one for Herbert Hoover. So two of our great community schools,
24:51
Speaker 3: the Hurricane High School and Herbert Hoover, they're going to
24:54
Speaker 3: be carried by our family of stations here right here
24:56
Speaker 3: in Charleston for every single game on WCHS. Of course,
24:59
Speaker 3: after the games on Friday nights, we'll go over to
25:01
Speaker 3: Game Night and you'll ability to hear all of that
25:03
Speaker 3: great program that we were just talking about with Fred
25:06
Speaker 3: on keeping us up to date on all the scores
25:07
Speaker 3: around the state of West Virginia on Friday nights. And
25:10
Speaker 3: then of course high School sports Line is on Wednesday
25:13
Speaker 3: night at seven o'clock after the state wide sports line
25:15
Speaker 3: right here on five eight WCHS Reds Baseball when we
25:19
Speaker 3: go to the Wednesday night games, as long as it's
25:21
Speaker 3: a later game this week. It's a six forty start,
25:24
Speaker 3: so we'll probably actually carry that game on Wednesday on
25:26
Speaker 3: our sister station on ESPN one of six point seven
25:29
Speaker 3: and fourteen ninety since it's a start that's probably going
25:32
Speaker 3: to end before by nine thirty or so. In our
25:35
Speaker 3: coverage of high school sports, line will be over at eight.
25:38
Speaker 3: That doesn't give a lot of time for the red
25:39
Speaker 3: So we'll probably carry that Reds game over on our
25:42
Speaker 3: sister station one six point seven fourteen to ninety WSWW
25:46
Speaker 3: on Wednesday. As far as the Reds this week goes,
25:48
Speaker 3: the Reds are off to night at disappointing weekend this
25:50
Speaker 3: weekend against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Reds were probably about
25:54
Speaker 3: four pitches away from going three to one in that series,
25:57
Speaker 3: with the only lost being the skeens pitch game of
25:59
Speaker 3: the first game of the series. Unfortunately, one bad inning,
26:03
Speaker 3: another bad pitch, and another bad pitch, and the Reds
26:06
Speaker 3: one in three against the Pirates. And if the season
26:10
Speaker 3: wasn't done before this series, the season is certainly done
26:12
Speaker 3: as far as playoffs go for the Reds. However, September
26:15
Speaker 3: is right around the corner, and that means that The
26:17
Speaker 3: Reds have a lot of young talent that's in the
26:20
Speaker 3: farm system, Sam Collier, who we had come through here,
26:23
Speaker 3: as well as some pitchers, and it looks like that
26:25
Speaker 3: we're going to see some September calls call ups for
26:27
Speaker 3: the Reds, So a lot of young, great talent will
26:30
Speaker 3: be able to hear for the last couple of weeks
26:32
Speaker 3: of the season and still an outside shot at the
26:34
Speaker 3: wild colored spot if the team can catch fire, but
26:38
Speaker 3: it has to be some pretty major fire at this
26:40
Speaker 3: point in order for that to be something that the
26:42
Speaker 3: Reds have any potential for. The Reds are back in
26:44
Speaker 3: action tomorrow night, starting at seven o'clock. We will join
26:47
Speaker 3: the game in progress right here on five ADWCCHS against
26:50
Speaker 3: the Oakland Athletics and they play the Athletics in a
26:53
Speaker 3: three game series culminating on Thursday with an odd five
26:57
Speaker 3: to ten start. That game also is going to be
26:59
Speaker 3: on our sister station one of six point seven and
27:01
Speaker 3: fourteen ninety WSWW. Let's go ahead and do this. We're
27:05
Speaker 3: going to take a break now, get our second breakout
27:07
Speaker 3: of the way. When we come back, Brad mclahaney will
27:09
Speaker 3: be with us and we'll be talking about all of
27:12
Speaker 3: the breaking news over the weekend, catching us up with
27:14
Speaker 3: the various stories with the Governor, the fave DWCHS and Favedy.

30:31
Speaker 3: you doing this morning?
30:32
Speaker 13: Oh, hi, good morning. It's an honor to be on

30:38
Speaker 13: I'm right at this moment, it's all relative and I'm
30:43
Speaker 13: just pleased anyone's inviting me anywhere, perferably without any name

30:52
Speaker 3: You're welcome to You're welcome to ask me any question
30:54
Speaker 3: that you want. By the way, Brad, thank you.
30:57
Speaker 13: I don't know that I have any at this time, okay,
31:00
Speaker 13: fit like what's for lunch or whatever? All good, all's
31:05
Speaker 13: good in the neighborhood, as they say.
31:06
Speaker 3: Well, that's good, it's good that we're getting there. Of
31:09
Speaker 3: course we're talking a little bit about we don't have
31:11
Speaker 3: to rehash the whole thing but of course we're going
31:13
Speaker 3: to be updating when there's various prongs to the stories
31:17
Speaker 3: with the governor and the governor's series of family of
31:20
Speaker 3: business finances, with news that's been breaking over the last
31:24
Speaker 3: couple of weeks. The Governor's been a little bit reluctant
31:26
Speaker 3: to answer some of the questions surrounding those, especially from Brad,
31:31
Speaker 3: because I think Brad maybe sussed out some of the
31:33
Speaker 3: beginnings of the story at its infancy. But neither here
31:37
Speaker 3: nor there. One thing that I did notice, Brad over
31:39
Speaker 3: the weekend you were updating these stories, had some updates
31:42
Speaker 3: late on Friday and into the weekend as far as
31:45
Speaker 3: the health care for the employees that are there, and
31:47
Speaker 3: also that there was some sort of an agreement made
31:49
Speaker 3: as far as the cell of the property that was
31:52
Speaker 3: going to take place later this week.
31:54
Speaker 13: Yeah, so as we entered this week, there was going
31:57
Speaker 13: to be a foreclosure sale two pm tomorrow. It was
32:01
Speaker 13: going to be on the courthouse steps in Greenboro County.
32:04
Speaker 13: If you could have pieced together the money, you could
32:06
Speaker 13: have put a bit on the actual Greenbrier Hotel building
32:10
Speaker 13: as well as some of the parking lot. But that
32:14
Speaker 13: has now. The coast is clear for the time being,
32:17
Speaker 13: at least on that one. Mostly what we know comes
32:20
Speaker 13: from the Justice family itself and some of the Governor's remarks,
32:25
Speaker 13: but there are a lot of questions still remaining. At
32:29
Speaker 13: least until October twenty fourth. The pressure is off that
32:33
Speaker 13: that was the date that the Justice has specified. They
32:37
Speaker 13: say that they have gotten together a specific amount of money,
32:43
Speaker 13: I guess. And when they say specific, then they don't
32:48
Speaker 13: say what the specific amount is, but it is specific,
32:52
Speaker 13: And so they say that they are there. They have
32:55
Speaker 13: already or are in the act of satisfying the terms
32:59
Speaker 13: of the credit collection company. But if they don't manage
33:03
Speaker 13: to do so actually by October twenty fourth, then you know,
33:07
Speaker 13: potentially the situation could arise again. But you know, for now,
33:11
Speaker 13: I think giving the benefit of the doubt, and the
33:15
Speaker 13: Justices say that the pressure is off. The foreclosure sale
33:19
Speaker 13: has been canceled. But there are other elements of pressure
33:22
Speaker 13: that continue. One is that there is this dispute with
33:28
Speaker 13: the unions and the Healthcare Fund representing workers. The Justices,
33:35
Speaker 13: according to the people who run the Healthcare Fund, are
33:40
Speaker 13: overall about three point six million dollars overdue on health
33:46
Speaker 13: coverage payments, and I mean this aspect is learning that
33:52
Speaker 13: end of things. The insurance company that it says that
33:57
Speaker 13: the lawyers to the insurance company say that the justices
34:02
Speaker 13: collected payments from employees meant to be the employees share
34:09
Speaker 13: and then didn't pass that on. At this point, as
34:14
Speaker 13: of first Friday afternoon and then Friday evening, there are
34:19
Speaker 13: very conflicting accounts of what is happening. The lawyers representing actually, sorry,
34:28
Speaker 13: the unions representing about four hundred workers at the green Brier.
34:33
Speaker 13: This is the Greenbrier Council of Labor Unions say that
34:37
Speaker 13: the delinquencies this is from their Friday afternet statement are
34:40
Speaker 13: quote factual, tangible, and documented, and they say we continue
34:46
Speaker 13: to domain that the Greenbrier's delinquent contractual obligations be met
34:51
Speaker 13: and remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached between
34:54
Speaker 13: the Health Fund and the Greenbrier. There was going to
34:59
Speaker 13: be a due date of tomorrow for that health insurance
35:01
Speaker 13: coverage that was tied to the possibility that there could
35:05
Speaker 13: be a foreclosure sale. That's why it was tomorrow. In
35:09
Speaker 13: addition to the fact that it's considered delinquent. Once the
35:14
Speaker 13: foreclosure sale was off, the company representing the company with
35:20
Speaker 13: health insurance on Friday said well, we're going to give
35:23
Speaker 13: you a little more time. It's going to be until
35:25
Speaker 13: August thirty first. Now, well August thirty first is Saturday,
35:28
Speaker 13: so that is a little more time to square this up,
35:31
Speaker 13: but not a lot more. The justices on Friday evening,
35:37
Speaker 13: and to take a peek behind the scenes, I had
35:40
Speaker 13: gone out to dinner, a well deserved dinner out with
35:42
Speaker 13: my wife when I made the mistake of checking my
35:45
Speaker 13: email and seeing that this was in it. The Justice
35:49
Speaker 13: has made the statement that seems to be exactly the
35:53
Speaker 13: opposite of that. The Greenbrier said, quote, without any exception,
35:58
Speaker 13: every penny of money collected from our nearly two thousand employees,
36:03
Speaker 13: So the green Briar has union and non union employees.
36:05
Speaker 13: That's a discrepancy. There four hundred under your union coverage
36:10
Speaker 13: and then the others are non union. But every penny
36:13
Speaker 13: collected from our nearly two thousand employees for healthcare coverage
36:16
Speaker 13: has been timely paid to either the union healthcare fund
36:19
Speaker 13: or the non union healthcare provider. And then the green
36:24
Speaker 13: Brier went on to say, to demonstrate the payments of
36:26
Speaker 13: our employees with holdings from Healthcare. We have provided this
36:29
Speaker 13: information to the Union Healthcare Fund. Today. It continued that
36:35
Speaker 13: statement from the green Bar by saying, the green Bar's
36:37
Speaker 13: management and accounting staff monitor and make payments for the
36:40
Speaker 13: healthcare Governor Justice has never been consulted, nor has he
36:44
Speaker 13: directed any of those payments since twenty seventeen. So as
36:49
Speaker 13: we you know, bottom line, as we come toward now
36:52
Speaker 13: the August thirty first deadline to assure coverage under the
36:58
Speaker 13: payments that the union says are overdue. I mean, we've
37:01
Speaker 13: just got these two positions, but I am not sure
37:05
Speaker 13: how you can square them. I mean, they are just
37:08
Speaker 13: diametrically opposite, with the Greenberg saying no, we're good and
37:12
Speaker 13: the unions saying not good, three point six million dollars overdue.
37:18
Speaker 13: Where it goes, I.
37:19
Speaker 3: Don't know, And we're not even sure how this is possible,
37:21
Speaker 3: Like you said there, how could you possibly square this
37:24
Speaker 3: kind of discrepancy. But obviously somebody is either just massively
37:29
Speaker 3: has the wrong document set in front of them and
37:32
Speaker 3: they're getting it wrong, or somebody's massively lying. I mean,
37:35
Speaker 3: it seems like it has to be one of those
37:36
Speaker 3: two things.
37:38
Speaker 13: M Yeah, I mean, I don't know how maybe Lucy
37:41
Speaker 13: Goosey to use the technical term the payments had been
37:44
Speaker 13: in the past. There is an element here that I
37:50
Speaker 13: read into it that has never been publicly stated to
37:55
Speaker 13: my knowledge. But there truly are significant financial pressures on
38:00
Speaker 13: the Justices overall, and one of them was this potential
38:05
Speaker 13: foreclosure sale. There could be an incentive from those who
38:11
Speaker 13: are owed money by the Justices to get it out there,
38:16
Speaker 13: to to not only make it public, but to to
38:21
Speaker 13: put it in formal terms. And what I'm getting at is,
38:25
Speaker 13: if this were potentially to go to bankruptcy, then you know,
38:30
Speaker 13: you want the grounds to be able to get in
38:33
Speaker 13: line before the judge or the trustee or whoever, to
38:37
Speaker 13: say this is this is.
38:38
Speaker 5: What we are owed.
38:39
Speaker 13: We've we've got to here in writing, we have made
38:42
Speaker 13: a claim and here is where we belong in line. Again,
38:49
Speaker 13: that is that is me reading into it, But I
38:53
Speaker 13: I it has never been stated as publicly is the
38:57
Speaker 13: reason that this is happening right now regarding the union
39:01
Speaker 13: healthcare I mean even beyond that though, bottom line, the
39:06
Speaker 13: union and the company that provides the insurance are in
39:10
Speaker 13: agreement that the Justices oh coming up on three point
39:14
Speaker 13: six million dollars.
39:15
Speaker 5: Do we know where this is likely to go?
39:18
Speaker 3: Do we have any like timelines for this week on
39:21
Speaker 3: any information that we're expecting, or is it just we
39:24
Speaker 3: have to kind of hold on and see what comes out.
39:28
Speaker 13: Well, I mean, it was it was going to be
39:31
Speaker 13: a real crisis point. I think as of tomorrow if
39:34
Speaker 13: that had been the day that the insurance was gonna
39:39
Speaker 13: not be valid and good anymore. Now that day is Saturday.
39:44
Speaker 13: There is a major event late this week the Greenbrier,
39:48
Speaker 13: the Chamber of Commerce is annual. This is summer at
39:51
Speaker 13: the green Boro. That's Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. And you know,
39:56
Speaker 13: I really haven't heard from any Greenbrier employees. Who knows
39:59
Speaker 13: what kind of mood they may be in as this
40:03
Speaker 13: matter potentially persists, and then next week, who knows what happens.
40:09
Speaker 13: The only thing that's in the public record, actual statements
40:13
Speaker 13: that have gone out, is the union has said it
40:16
Speaker 13: will explore any possible legal action necessary, which I take
40:22
Speaker 13: to you know, maybe mean a lawsuit of some sort.
40:26
Speaker 13: Beyond that, I don't I don't have any idea, you know,
40:31
Speaker 13: if I guess if I were the owner of the
40:37
Speaker 13: Green Briar, I think I would and if I had
40:39
Speaker 13: the means, I would, I think, take every step necessary
40:43
Speaker 13: to make sure there was no interruption of service at
40:46
Speaker 13: a business that requires the service to operate, But that
40:52
Speaker 13: is outside both my experience and my you know, practical
40:56
Speaker 13: knowledge level.
40:57
Speaker 3: I guess that at this point we're just going to
40:59
Speaker 3: have to fall along and see. Of course, Brad covers
41:02
Speaker 3: these stories as well as possible from someone who's not
41:07
Speaker 3: given direct access right now, but you can follow along
41:10
Speaker 3: and there's a lot of robust coverage at wv metricnews
41:12
Speaker 3: dot com. As the stories come out. Of course, we'll
41:15
Speaker 3: be updating them over there and sharing that information. And Brad,
41:18
Speaker 3: I know it's not easy right now, but I appreciate
41:21
Speaker 3: the perseverance and just outstanding reporting things.
41:24
Speaker 5: For what you do.
41:25
Speaker 13: Hey, thank you. You know. The governor last week, in
41:28
Speaker 13: response to a question by WCCHS TV reporter Bob Aaron,
41:32
Speaker 13: a real veteran and pro about this insurance situation, said
41:36
Speaker 13: that he thought it was like the media it was
41:38
Speaker 13: rooting against the Green Brier and not even specifically me.
41:41
Speaker 13: I mean, that was a pretty broad statement, and I
41:44
Speaker 13: just want to say I really disagree with that. I
41:47
Speaker 13: have said multiple times and would like to repeat it here.
41:50
Speaker 13: I wish no harm to the resort itself, or to
41:53
Speaker 13: the employees, or to the community that depends on the
41:57
Speaker 13: Green Brier as an economic driver. I hope we can
41:59
Speaker 13: all be sorted out, and you know, wish everyone the best.
42:02
Speaker 13: My heart goes out to everybody.
42:04
Speaker 3: We appreciate that, and I think we all kind of
42:05
Speaker 3: mirror that that thought as well. It's just you have
42:08
Speaker 3: to follow the news man. The news is the news.
42:11
Speaker 13: Yeah, thanks so much. I appreciate our handed and civil
42:16
Speaker 13: conversation that has a curb with zero name calling at all.
42:19
Speaker 13: I've not called you a single name, and you have

Speaker 13: done the.

Speaker 17: and the next I think couple of months. I shot
46:22
Speaker 17: my mouth off Friday morning right at the radiothon, So.
46:28
Speaker 11: Let me back up.
46:29
Speaker 5: There's only room for.
46:30
Speaker 17: About ten stations to do the radiothon live at the
46:34
Speaker 17: Hostetler Family Resource Center, tenth floor of WVU Medicine Children's
46:38
Speaker 17: in Morgantown. And they figured out once they got everybody
46:43
Speaker 17: set up Wednesday afternoon about three four o'clock that two
46:46
Speaker 17: stations could actually share a spot, and so they didn't
46:51
Speaker 17: need two spots each. They put them together on one
46:53
Speaker 17: table and they were like, hey, we've got one more opening.
46:56
Speaker 17: Pack a bag, go to Morgantown. It wasn't our original
46:59
Speaker 17: plan was going to be here in our Walker studios
47:01
Speaker 17: and just do the thing from here. So I race
47:04
Speaker 17: up to Morgantown and I get set up, and I
47:06
Speaker 17: don't know if it was too much caffeine and adrenaline
47:11
Speaker 17: or not enough sleep, but I got kind of fired
47:13
Speaker 17: up at the idea that after day one, I wasn't
47:16
Speaker 17: liking what I saw with the numbers, and I was
47:18
Speaker 17: worried that we weren't going to surpass last year, which
47:22
Speaker 17: was about one hundred and sixty thousand. If I recall correctly,
47:25
Speaker 17: I had the number in front of me.
47:26
Speaker 11: I don't at the moment.
47:27
Speaker 17: So I declared about seven to ten on Friday morning
47:30
Speaker 17: that if we managed to eclipse last year's total, I
47:34
Speaker 17: would walk the check back to Morgantown.
47:37
Speaker 5: Oh my goodness, is that you know?
47:39
Speaker 11: I'd come back here. There's paperwork that needs to be done.
47:41
Speaker 17: Joe Parsons, our boss here would sign that comically oversized
47:45
Speaker 17: check and that I would walk it from Charleston back
47:48
Speaker 17: to WVU Medicine Children's And I have to say West.
47:52
Speaker 11: Virginians came through for West Virginia kids.
47:53
Speaker 5: Yeah, gotcha.
47:56
Speaker 17: Final total one hundred seventy two, four hundred and thirty
47:59
Speaker 17: four dollars. There's some give or take on that, but
48:01
Speaker 17: that's an incredibly close number as reported by WVU Medicine Children's.
48:06
Speaker 17: And I am nothing if not a man of my word.
48:08
Speaker 17: I know that there were people who thought that, you
48:09
Speaker 17: know this, it's just show business.
48:11
Speaker 5: Stick.
48:12
Speaker 17: No, if I say something like that, especially when it
48:14
Speaker 17: comes to helping kids be happy, healthy, and healing, I'm
48:18
Speaker 17: going to follow through with it.
48:19
Speaker 11: So Martin and Bobby and.
48:23
Speaker 17: Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration have already stepped up and said,
48:25
Speaker 17: whatever you.
48:26
Speaker 11: Need, we got your back.
48:27
Speaker 5: Oh that's awesome.
48:28
Speaker 17: So you know not unlike when disaster happens at your house,
48:31
Speaker 17: They've got your back.
48:32
Speaker 11: They will clean up for you. So they're going to
48:33
Speaker 11: help me clean up the mess my big mouth created.
48:37
Speaker 11: I don't know how we're going to do it. I
48:38
Speaker 11: don't know when we're going.
48:39
Speaker 5: To do it. Yet.
48:40
Speaker 17: There's a lot of eyes to cross and tease to
48:42
Speaker 17: dot or however you know, hands to kiss and.
48:45
Speaker 11: Babies to shake or what however that works.
48:47
Speaker 17: But we're going to figure out how I Am going
48:50
Speaker 17: to walk this check to Morgantown sometime before year's end.
48:54
Speaker 11: I can at least say that much.
48:55
Speaker 17: I'm confident we will get it done before twenty twenty
48:58
Speaker 17: four is over.
48:59
Speaker 5: But before the snow comes too. If there is going
49:01
Speaker 5: to be any.
49:02
Speaker 11: That would that would be, that would be delightful.
49:05
Speaker 17: I know that sometimes in the mountaintops that can come
49:07
Speaker 17: a little early, but it's not like when I lived
49:09
Speaker 17: in Montana. The joke in Montana was summer was on
49:13
Speaker 17: a Wednesday. We wore pink because on Wednesdays we wear pink.
49:17
Speaker 17: So it'll be better than walking through snow in Montana.
49:21
Speaker 17: But yep, I put my walking shoe in my mouth
49:25
Speaker 17: on Friday.
49:26
Speaker 11: But I'm going to pay up. I'm a man of
49:28
Speaker 11: my word.
49:28
Speaker 5: If nothing else, well, it ended up being a great events.
49:31
Speaker 3: Mike Wealth Enhancement Group of course sponsored that here was
49:33
Speaker 3: the presenting sponsor locally, and we had a lot of
49:36
Speaker 3: folks that are involved with one hundred and seventy two
49:38
Speaker 3: thousand going to the Children's Miracle Network for w Medicine.
49:43
Speaker 5: Children's is a huge number.
49:44
Speaker 3: And when you think about how that impacts our community,
49:46
Speaker 3: that's gargantu one.
49:47
Speaker 5: And I know that.
49:48
Speaker 17: I know that CMN is a national organization, but I
49:50
Speaker 17: can assure you every penny of that one hundred and
49:53
Speaker 17: seventy four and thirty four dollars will stay right here
49:57
Speaker 17: in West Virginia, and it goes to equipment and programs.
50:01
Speaker 11: It goes to kids. It doesn't go to overhead.
50:04
Speaker 17: It didn't you know, it didn't pay for my gas
50:05
Speaker 17: or my lunch to be there in Morgantown for a
50:07
Speaker 17: couple of days.
50:08
Speaker 11: It pays to heal kids.
50:11
Speaker 3: I wanted to before we cut you a loose, rob,
50:13
Speaker 3: I want to remind folks that something a little different
50:15
Speaker 3: this year. As far as your home station ninety six
50:17
Speaker 3: to one KWS, I'm going to be the home of
50:19

50:22
Speaker 3: off on Thursday night.
50:24
Speaker 17: Yes, so we start Thursday, starts the weekend for us
50:27
Speaker 17: up real early, and it will start high school football
50:30
Speaker 17: this Thursday night.
50:31
Speaker 11: Go Huskies.
50:32
Speaker 5: Yeah that's right. Yeah, it's a good, great venue down there.
50:34
Speaker 3: I know you guys will have some festivities around the
50:37
Speaker 3: broadcast and things like that. But so if you're looking
50:39
Speaker 3: for Herbert Hoover Husky football, you'll find that on KWS
50:41
Speaker 3: ninety six one KBS this year, and then it's going
50:44

50:56
Speaker 3: Just saying, Oh I like that, Just say, I bet
50:58
Speaker 3: you got to follow Rob's lead. Rob has a lot
51:00
Speaker 3: of great ideas, and so if you're out there in
51:01
Speaker 3: the community, Rob has a lot of great ideas, meetihum
51:05
Speaker 3: halfway and he'll get you there.
51:06

51:14
Speaker 3: here putting together things for these charitable events. He has
51:17
Speaker 3: a great charitable heart and helps us out a lot
51:19
Speaker 3: with all of these. And so that's kind of our
51:21
Speaker 3: report from the ground when it comes to the radiothon
51:24
Speaker 3: that we had on Friday. Thanks again, Rob, appreciate that man,
