- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, presented by Drafts Kings. The crown
- 0:13Speaker 1: is yours. We are an Action Network podcast. I'm Brandon Kravitz,
- 0:17Speaker 1: your host, back at it with the first lady of
- 0:19Speaker 1: the pod, Miss Kendri Middleton. I'm sure that stats hound
- 0:23Speaker 1: Evan Abrams will be making an appearance.
- 0:25Speaker 2: Swooping in as well.
- 0:27Speaker 1: Spring has sprung, Baseball season is being played, abs is awesome,
- 0:33Speaker 1: tournaments about to wrap up. Kendra, how's the men's and
- 0:37Speaker 1: women's bracket looking to this point?
- 0:40Speaker 3: My brackets are both shit.
- 0:43Speaker 4: They are like in the seventieth percentile, and I'm never
- 0:46Speaker 4: betting on basketball again. I've the college basketball This season
- 0:50Speaker 4: has wiped the floor with me and I'm ready for
- 0:52Speaker 4: it to be over. I'm actually not having fun at
- 0:55Speaker 4: all anymore. It has taken all of the joy out
- 0:57Speaker 4: of this for me. I know that people are probably
- 0:59Speaker 4: so tired of me about the tournament, but I just
- 1:02Speaker 4: for once am nothing fun. Uh.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Well, you know you stay pretty composed during the NFL season,
- 1:10Speaker 1: but that at least in the one the year that
- 1:13Speaker 1: we've worked together has gone well for you. This is
- 1:17Speaker 1: you looking somewhat composed, but honest with yourself. That this
- 1:22Speaker 1: just might not be your bag, although next year, I
- 1:24Speaker 1: guarantee you will gas yourself up because the open of
- 1:29Speaker 1: the NCAA Tournament is as exciting as it gets. I
- 1:33Speaker 1: djen out, everybody does, and then you know, depending on
- 1:37Speaker 1: how it goes, it is, how you maneuver through the
- 1:40Speaker 1: Sweet sixteen and the Elite eight, I think you'll be
- 1:43Speaker 1: back next year.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:45Speaker 4: I think that I just need to leave it on
- 1:47Speaker 4: the pedestal that it is and enjoy it for what
- 1:50Speaker 4: it is instead of gambling on it. I think I
- 1:52Speaker 4: just need to be a consumer, and that's my way
- 1:54Speaker 4: to enjoy it and have fun, because then I don't care.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Like when you have money wrapped up in things, it
- 2:00Speaker 4: makes it so much more miserable when it doesn't go
- 2:03Speaker 4: your way. And I just think the college basketball is
- 2:06Speaker 4: not for me as far as it's gambling.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Well, I don't want to take this and then turn
- 2:10Speaker 1: it into a humble brag. But I do have Illinois
- 2:14Speaker 1: a twenty two to one on them to win the
- 2:16Speaker 1: national championship on the men's side, So even though a
- 2:19Speaker 1: lot of people are looking at Arizona, Michigan is the
- 2:22Speaker 1: de facto championship game. We are hoping for a free
- 2:27Speaker 1: pizza dinner for the Favorites crew if Illinois can get
- 2:33Speaker 1: themselves into the championship game and win pizza for everybody.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Okay, can I are you pro or anti pineapple on pizza?
- 2:42Speaker 1: I'm not anti pineapple on pizza, but I wouldn't ever
- 2:45Speaker 1: order it on purpose. Like if I was at an
- 2:48Speaker 1: event and they said, hey, we have pineapple pizza, throw
- 2:52Speaker 1: it on the plate.
- 2:52Speaker 2: No issue.
- 2:53Speaker 1: But I'm never going to step up to the counter
- 2:56Speaker 1: and ask for the pineapple to be on my pizza.
- 3:00Speaker 4: Okay, fair, I like it with halapinos, halapenos and just pineapples, fine,
- 3:05Speaker 4: but if you throw some like bacon or ham on there,
- 3:07Speaker 4: I'm purposefully ordering that, even though my first choice will
- 3:10Speaker 4: forever and always be Buffalo Chicken.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Evan swoop in. Where do you land on the pineapple
- 3:20Speaker 1: on the pizza?
- 3:21Speaker 5: Yeah, you did it exactly right. You should never order it,
- 3:24Speaker 5: but if it's there, it's fine.
- 3:26Speaker 6: And jalapenos and ham or bacon, the mixture between the
- 3:30Speaker 6: three is what makes it special.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's a pretty elite combo. All right.
- 3:35Speaker 1: We got some news to get to and today our
- 3:39Speaker 1: special feature on today's episode, Kendrick and I have come
- 3:43Speaker 1: up with our five teams that have to absolutely nail
- 3:49Speaker 1: the draft in a month, so we each have our
- 3:52Speaker 1: own five. I don't even think there's overlap on our lists.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Is I think that yours is.
- 4:01Speaker 4: We went in completely different directions and I can't wait
- 4:04Speaker 4: for Evan to roast us both. But I am so
- 4:07Speaker 4: confused by your definition of needing to nail a draft.
- 4:12Speaker 2: And uh, and.
- 4:13Speaker 1: I feel like I'm getting mid NFL season vine that
- 4:17Speaker 1: my choices make no sense to the gallery.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Did you put the falcons on you.
- 4:24Speaker 2: With it?
- 4:24Speaker 1: But part of the reason why I like them to
- 4:26Speaker 1: potentially make a super Bowl run is because the roster
- 4:29Speaker 1: is already stacked. It don't mean he god, they just
- 4:32Speaker 1: need the other lefty to play quarterback. Not to uh
- 4:36Speaker 1: before we get to our main dish, though, what's on
- 4:38Speaker 1: your mind?
- 4:43Speaker 4: But okay, So, I I feel like I'm so negative lately.
- 4:54Speaker 4: I need to get my spark back or something. I
- 4:56Speaker 4: don't know what's going on. I'm very just want.
- 4:58Speaker 2: To be Portugal. If that doesn't do, but I don't
- 5:00Speaker 2: know what will.
- 5:01Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 5:02Speaker 4: I think I need to block politics from my Twitter
- 5:04Speaker 4: timeline Anyways, live action movies big thing right now, Moana
- 5:09Speaker 4: live Action coming out, We're getting another Incredibles, We're getting like.
- 5:12Speaker 3: Toy Story eleven.
- 5:14Speaker 4: Are you in or out on these franchises? Going so
- 5:19Speaker 4: far into these movies that there's like not even just
- 5:22Speaker 4: a trilogy anymore, it's beyond that.
- 5:24Speaker 3: What are your thoughts on live action?
- 5:27Speaker 4: And if you were a cartoon character from a movie,
- 5:31Speaker 4: who would you be?
- 5:33Speaker 2: Oh man, this is loaded.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I think this is a layered conversation because it is
- 5:39Speaker 1: very movie franchise specific. I'll start with the positive. First
- 5:45Speaker 1: Toy Story hasn't missed yet. They really haven't totally missed.
- 5:49Speaker 1: There are some that are better than others. And I
- 5:53Speaker 1: can speak to this with credibility, not only as a
- 5:56Speaker 1: kid who was ten when the first one came out,
- 6:00Speaker 1: but I have a six year old also, So I've
- 6:01Speaker 1: now rewatched all of these movies. They have four Toy Stories.
- 6:05Speaker 1: They're all bangers. The third one is kind of iffy,
- 6:10Speaker 1: but they're all at least decent movies. Some of them
- 6:13Speaker 1: are great. So them coming out with a fifth Toy
- 6:16Speaker 1: Story I guarant and it's probably I think it's supposed
- 6:19Speaker 1: to be the last one.
- 6:20Speaker 4: It's like the they've been saying that for like thirty years.
- 6:23Speaker 1: They're gonna say goodbye to the toys again or something.
- 6:25Speaker 1: It's gonna be good. I guarantee it is going to
- 6:28Speaker 1: be inside out. Makes you cry in the theater if
- 6:33Speaker 1: you're a softy like me. Okay, so that's one the
- 6:38Speaker 1: live action stuff needs to end. Nobody asked for this.
- 6:42Speaker 1: It's never good, never, never as charming as the original.
- 6:47Speaker 2: And then I mean.
- 6:48Speaker 1: The the sequels, in the three peats that we're getting
- 6:54Speaker 1: from all these different franchises.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It is just this obsession.
- 6:58Speaker 1: With cashing in on the IP for all of these brands,
- 7:02Speaker 1: because we have zapped all genuine, authentic creativity out of
- 7:07Speaker 1: the movie making process, and I find that pretty depressing.
- 7:12Speaker 1: And then my answer would be shaggy because the idea
- 7:14Speaker 1: of being a pothead with a talking dog does sound
- 7:16Speaker 1: like a lot of fun.
- 7:17Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, I wouldn't have that's a good clock. Do
- 7:20Speaker 4: we think the miss is incredible? We'll still have the
- 7:23Speaker 4: ass in this movie, even though she's probably gonna be
- 7:25Speaker 4: like pushing fifty.
- 7:28Speaker 1: I mean, you know, fifty is like the new forty,
- 7:31Speaker 1: So I think she'll be fine. She's clearly been hitting
- 7:35Speaker 1: the gym.
- 7:36Speaker 4: I agree with your live action take. I think we
- 7:39Speaker 4: need newer movies. After three, you gotta cut it off,
- 7:43Speaker 4: like we don't need.
- 7:44Speaker 3: A toy story.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Five.
- 7:46Speaker 3: However, I would be mort from Madagascar?
- 7:49Speaker 2: Which one is that?
- 7:53Speaker 3: More is like do you know King Julian?
- 7:57Speaker 2: No?
- 7:58Speaker 3: Okay, never mind?
- 8:00Speaker 2: Is either like the muskrat? Yeah? Yeah, okay. I could
- 8:03Speaker 2: totally see that.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Is there like a reason behind it? Because I was
- 8:07Speaker 1: I was smoking with a talking dog. That was my
- 8:09Speaker 1: general I think.
- 8:10Speaker 4: That you have to have seen Madagascar in the last
- 8:13Speaker 4: five years to get it. But I think it makes
- 8:15Speaker 4: a lot of sense for me if you have seen that,
- 8:18Speaker 4: that are probably the cricket from mulan.
- 8:23Speaker 6: Tho.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Those would be mean you get the side character market
- 8:28Speaker 1: cornered right now, let's get to our main dish. Rarely
- 8:31Speaker 1: do we get the winner of the Super Bowl on
- 8:34Speaker 1: hard knocks. In fact, it hasn't happened since two thousand
- 8:37Speaker 1: and one, when the Baltimore Ravens were documented and HBO
- 8:43Speaker 1: costs like fifty dollars per month back then. I think
- 8:46Speaker 1: so some things have gotten better in the streaming world,
- 8:48Speaker 1: but the Seahawks are going to be featured on NFL
- 8:53Speaker 1: Hard Knocks. Is there any interest for you in seeing that?
- 8:57Speaker 1: Usually we got these terrible teams like the Jets of
- 8:59Speaker 1: the Cowboys, and I watch it anyway. I'll watch at
- 9:03Speaker 1: least the first few episodes. It kind of ramps me
- 9:05Speaker 1: up to the preseason and all of that. But this
- 9:08Speaker 1: is fascinating that we're going to see a team fresh
- 9:11Speaker 1: off of a Super Bowl being featured like this.
- 9:15Speaker 4: I didn't watch last season, but I've seen every all
- 9:19Speaker 4: the other seasons. I think that they've just kind of
- 9:21Speaker 4: lost their charm, which is why they're going in this direction.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I think.
- 9:27Speaker 4: I think it's fine. I don't really have any feelings
- 9:29Speaker 4: about it, not just because I'm local. But the Patriots
- 9:32Speaker 4: being next year I think is really interesting because they
- 9:35Speaker 4: better get the Christian Gonzales and Drake may stuff figured
- 9:38Speaker 4: out before Hard Knocks, because if they don't, I think
- 9:40Speaker 4: that that's gonna be the real moneymaker for consumers, because
- 9:44Speaker 4: that's going to be insane to watch both of those
- 9:47Speaker 4: things potentially go on at the same time if they
- 9:49Speaker 4: don't get that figured out, because for both of them,
- 9:51Speaker 4: the longer they wait, the more of a bag they're
- 9:53Speaker 4: gonna make. So I just think it's gonna make the
- 9:55Speaker 4: Patriots look real bad and humiliate them in a way
- 9:58Speaker 4: that is new to them.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Rarely do we see the team that's on Hard Knocks
- 10:05Speaker 1: be all that successful, and that's partially because of what
- 10:08Speaker 1: I said earlier. Usually they're throwing bad teams on there
- 10:10Speaker 1: that turn out to not be that good. That the
- 10:12Speaker 1: Lions year was a lot of fun because that previewed
- 10:15Speaker 1: a season that was it petered out at the end,
- 10:17Speaker 1: but it was still pretty exciting. Does this concern you
- 10:20Speaker 1: at all for either I think the Patriots are mid
- 10:23Speaker 1: season by the way.
- 10:24Speaker 2: I think they are there this year. Yeah they do.
- 10:28Speaker 1: They do the preseason one and then they do the
- 10:31Speaker 1: mid season. Yeah, nobody watches. I don't know anybody that
- 10:34Speaker 1: watches the mid season Hard Knocks, Like you're in the
- 10:36Speaker 1: middle of the football season.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Who has time for that? I have time in August.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I don't have time in October.
- 10:41Speaker 3: No, I don't have time, which is probably lucky for
- 10:43Speaker 3: the Patriots.
- 10:44Speaker 2: So it might work out for them in that regard.
- 10:46Speaker 1: But does this ding your confidence at all in Seattle
- 10:49Speaker 1: that they're gonna be hawk eyed like this pun intended?
- 10:52Speaker 4: I just think I don't really have a ton of
- 10:56Speaker 4: expectations on Seattle this year, like, good for you, you
- 10:58Speaker 4: won the Super Bowl.
- 10:59Speaker 3: You didn't have to play, you know.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Joe Burrow, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, any other insert Patrick
- 11:07Speaker 4: Mahomes AFC quarterback here. But the NFC has just really
- 11:12Speaker 4: become quite the gauntlet the last couple of seasons, So
- 11:15Speaker 4: I don't really have any expectations for them. So I
- 11:18Speaker 4: don't think it's as hurtful as it would have been
- 11:21Speaker 4: in years past when they had good teams. I don't know,
- 11:23Speaker 4: do you have expectations for Seattle, because I just don't.
- 11:26Speaker 1: I think we're selling Seattle too quickly after a Super
- 11:30Speaker 1: Bowl run.
- 11:31Speaker 2: This run, I think Sam.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Darnold's gonna have the same type of season, and they
- 11:34Speaker 4: got rid of Kenneth Walker.
- 11:36Speaker 1: I just think we're too quick to sell. I'm not
- 11:38Speaker 1: saying that I'm going to predict them to win the
- 11:41Speaker 1: Super Bowl.
- 11:42Speaker 2: I'm not there. So if that's the because we do
- 11:45Speaker 2: that a lot.
- 11:46Speaker 1: We're in a team like the Chiefs of the Eagles
- 11:47Speaker 1: recently have won a Super Bowl, and we go who's
- 11:50Speaker 1: gonna win next year, Well, it's got to be them, And.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I don't hear anybody really doing that with Seattle.
- 11:55Speaker 1: That's where I pause is when I see the conversation
- 11:58Speaker 1: tilting so heavily towards one, I go, what am I
- 12:02Speaker 1: missing here? Because they're not that different going into this
- 12:05Speaker 1: year as they were from last year, and last year
- 12:07Speaker 1: they were a rightful champion at the end of the season.
- 12:10Speaker 1: This was not a fluky run. They were dominant and
- 12:13Speaker 1: they lost Kenneth Walker, you know. So I think the
- 12:16Speaker 1: rams on paper should be better, but I'm not going
- 12:20Speaker 1: to write them off. So I do have expectation deep
- 12:22Speaker 1: run for Seattle. That's what I'd be willing to plant
- 12:25Speaker 1: my flag on that right now.
- 12:26Speaker 4: I said this on a show on my station last week,
- 12:30Speaker 4: and I'm going to say it here because when it happens,
- 12:33Speaker 4: I want a paper trail. Matt Stafford is going to
- 12:37Speaker 4: retire either after this season or next season, and Joe
- 12:40Speaker 4: Burrow is going to take his place.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Oh that would be nice, Joe.
- 12:46Speaker 4: Bro That is there is nothing else that I could
- 12:50Speaker 4: see happening than Joe Burrow going to LA and being
- 12:52Speaker 4: Matt Stafford's replacement.
- 12:55Speaker 2: He's got Hollywood written all over him.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Him and Sean McVay would be a match made in
- 12:59Speaker 1: Heaven Ukinnakua could stay quiet.
- 13:02Speaker 2: That would be a combo. I'm in on that.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Yes, that's my hot take.
- 13:08Speaker 2: Let's throw that in the archive.
- 13:09Speaker 1: One other note here, NFL owners are quote alarmed by
- 13:13Speaker 1: the state of negotiations with the NFL Referee Association. Apparently
- 13:18Speaker 1: the collective bargaining agreement for the refs is set to
- 13:21Speaker 1: expire at the end of May, and negotiations are clearly
- 13:24Speaker 1: not going well. My question to you, so, obviously the
- 13:28Speaker 1: refs want more perks. They want more money. That's the
- 13:31Speaker 1: only reason and why negotiations ever stall. It's always financial.
- 13:35Speaker 1: How much do you think NFL officials make. Don't look
- 13:40Speaker 1: it up.
- 13:41Speaker 4: I did not look this up when I saw it
- 13:42Speaker 4: in our notes, but I feel like I have had
- 13:44Speaker 4: this conversation before, and I am probably way off, but
- 13:48Speaker 4: I feel like it was like two hundred, two hundred
- 13:50Speaker 4: and fifty K.
- 13:51Speaker 2: That's about right. That's the bottom end.
- 13:53Speaker 1: The top end, they're north of three hundred thousand dollars,
- 13:56Speaker 1: and then the referees that make it that are good
- 13:59Speaker 1: enough to be selected to be part of the conference championships,
- 14:03Speaker 1: and then the Super Bowl makes significant bonuses.
- 14:06Speaker 2: So you're looking at.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Probably the ceiling right now, being around four hundred thousand dollars.
- 14:13Speaker 3: For like eight months of work.
- 14:16Speaker 1: But you are one of the most I'm actually I'm
- 14:19Speaker 1: gonna go to bat for the refs here. I think
- 14:21Speaker 1: the refs deserve to get paid more. You're one of
- 14:24Speaker 1: the most scud individual country.
- 14:27Speaker 4: Yeah, rightfully so, because most of them suck at their job. Like,
- 14:31Speaker 4: I get that it could always be worse with refereeing,
- 14:35Speaker 4: and bringing in new refs doesn't automatically a mean that
- 14:37Speaker 4: it's going to be better. But I think that some
- 14:39Speaker 4: of these people are just too damn old to watch
- 14:42Speaker 4: how fast the game has gotten and they really screwed
- 14:44Speaker 4: up with these like robot like measurements or whatever. I
- 14:48Speaker 4: don't want the referees to put the ball down and
- 14:51Speaker 4: then have the robot measure where the ball is at.
- 14:54Speaker 4: I want the robot to tell you where the ball
- 14:56Speaker 4: should be and then you measure that. I think that
- 14:59Speaker 4: they could make this a lot simpler, Like I don't thanks.
- 15:02Speaker 1: For the show of it, and this is part of
- 15:03Speaker 1: the reason why they deserve to get paid. They are
- 15:05Speaker 1: part of the show. The refs are stars on the field.
- 15:09Speaker 1: They should be paid as such.
- 15:11Speaker 4: Well, they're getting paid for blowing games, so I don't
- 15:15Speaker 4: like they're making more money on the side. Like, either
- 15:17Speaker 4: be good at your job. Like when you're good at
- 15:19Speaker 4: your job, you go to your boss and you're like, hey,
- 15:21Speaker 4: I'm kicking ass.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I want to raise.
- 15:23Speaker 4: But when you suck at your job, you don't go
- 15:25Speaker 4: to your boss and be.
- 15:26Speaker 3: Like, hey, I want to raise you.
- 15:27Speaker 4: Guys are sucking at your job, and either you just
- 15:30Speaker 4: suck or you're blowing games to get money from gambling.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Which one is it? You got to pick aside?
- 15:35Speaker 4: Do you want to get paid because you're good at
- 15:36Speaker 4: your job, or do you want to get paid by
- 15:38Speaker 4: these you know, gambling whoever the fucker players or whatever.
- 15:43Speaker 2: You're right, you have been negative.
- 15:46Speaker 3: I know what is wrong with me. I think it's
- 15:48Speaker 3: because I'm not smoking weed right now.
- 15:51Speaker 1: So I looked back the fail Mary, which was the
- 15:54Speaker 1: last time we had replacement officials, or you had one
- 15:56Speaker 1: official standing next to the other. One called it in complete,
- 15:59Speaker 1: the other called the touchdown in the Packers the Yawks game.
- 16:02Speaker 1: That was in twenty twelve. Evan, I'm gonna need you
- 16:05Speaker 1: to just write this as a note for the primer.
- 16:07Speaker 1: If we end up with replacement officials, Is it more
- 16:09Speaker 1: profitable to just blindly bet the dogs, because you would
- 16:12Speaker 1: think if we're not buttoned up as far as the
- 16:16Speaker 1: officials go, more variants means you want to be on
- 16:19Speaker 1: the team that's catching points, anything to that.
- 16:22Speaker 6: That's definitely an easier request than when I got in
- 16:25Speaker 6: our discord yesterday, which is to start looking up D
- 16:27Speaker 6: three refs and plumbers who might be starting to reft
- 16:30Speaker 6: these games.
- 16:31Speaker 5: So I appreciate that person who bing me, but yeah,
- 16:34Speaker 5: I will take a look at this.
- 16:35Speaker 6: Obviously this has a larger impact overall, but we will see.
- 16:40Speaker 5: How this goes. We're still need deep in March madness.
- 16:42Speaker 6: But I would honestly assume that there would be like
- 16:45Speaker 6: more parody, a little bit wider of a gap on
- 16:48Speaker 6: some certain things.
- 16:50Speaker 1: I would agree with that. Yeah, you don't need to
- 16:51Speaker 1: do that now. It is March thirty. First, we're not
- 16:53Speaker 1: going to bet an NFL game until September, and hopefully.
- 16:57Speaker 3: I need to go back to smoking weed.
- 17:01Speaker 1: I mean, we're just I'm just trying to support the
- 17:04Speaker 1: common man here, and your you're big capitalist America angry,
- 17:10Speaker 1: you know, big wig over there putting your thumb down.
- 17:14Speaker 2: So yeah, I don't know.
- 17:15Speaker 4: Would you rather have refs who like call the game properly?
- 17:20Speaker 1: I think officials are good. I think the officials are fine.
- 17:24Speaker 3: The officiating this year was good.
- 17:26Speaker 1: I don't know how to judge it, like I'm not
- 17:28Speaker 1: I'm not an officiating expert, but yeah, I mean I
- 17:30Speaker 1: think they do a pretty good job.
- 17:32Speaker 2: It's a hard job to do. Everything's so judgment based.
- 17:35Speaker 3: Cravats is paying referees.
- 17:38Speaker 1: You know, I had I had a winning year, so
- 17:40Speaker 1: I mean maybe that's the reason why I'm happy about it.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Before we get to our NFL Draft notes, time for.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Wait wait, wait, wait, wait wait, I have.
- 17:48Speaker 4: One more comment on all of this that I put
- 17:50Speaker 4: into our notes. Did you see the coaches photo from yesterday?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Oh, from the owners meetings? I did not.
- 17:58Speaker 4: Liam Cohen and Robert Sala could not be further apart
- 18:03Speaker 4: in this photo. And I think that it is the
- 18:06Speaker 4: funniest thing to come out of these meetings so far,
- 18:08Speaker 4: Like they literally one of them wasn't on the end
- 18:10Speaker 4: of one of them was in the middle. They were
- 18:11Speaker 4: on opposite ends of each other. Like I the trauma
- 18:17Speaker 4: and the tea that is about to be the AFC South.
- 18:19Speaker 4: You need to look at this picture because it's so
- 18:22Speaker 4: funny to me that they are literally on opposite ends
- 18:25Speaker 4: from each other.
- 18:26Speaker 1: I am, Yeah, You've got Liam Cohen is on the
- 18:30Speaker 1: absolute far left of the photo, and then you got
- 18:35Speaker 1: Andy Reid, Kyle Shanahan, there's Sala. Yeah, there's a there's
- 18:40Speaker 1: like a whole conference in between these two coaches if
- 18:43Speaker 1: you look at this photo.
- 18:44Speaker 2: But he's not as far away as he could be.
- 18:45Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni and Liam Cohen are kind of the bookends
- 18:49Speaker 1: to the to the coaching paradigm in the photo.
- 18:52Speaker 2: You'll take a look at it so good.
- 18:54Speaker 4: Sorry I could be the most cut you off, but
- 18:56Speaker 4: I needed you.
- 18:57Speaker 3: To see that.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I think that's another one we table for later in
- 19:01Speaker 1: the offseason. The most drama filled division in the NFL.
- 19:06Speaker 1: Write that down. AFC South early lead in that. So
- 19:10Speaker 1: we have NFL Draft notes to get to. Kendrick and
- 19:12Speaker 1: I have both put together our list of our top
- 19:15Speaker 1: five teams that need to nail the draft. But right
- 19:18Speaker 1: now it's time for our King of the Court picks
- 19:21Speaker 1: presented by Draft Games. We're looking for the player in
- 19:23Speaker 1: the NBA tonight Whosday Night with the most points, rebounds,
- 19:28Speaker 1: and assists on the night. So who is the pr
- 19:31Speaker 1: a king, Kendra, We'll start with you.
- 19:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna go with Donovan Mitchell.
- 19:39Speaker 4: I know that that's a little bit of a hot take,
- 19:41Speaker 4: but I heard that you guys had already put your
- 19:43Speaker 4: picks out and who I wanted was already taken. So
- 19:46Speaker 4: I'm gonna go Donovan Mitchell just because in a game
- 19:48Speaker 4: against Lakers, I think that your best player has to
- 19:50Speaker 4: do all three of the things that you need to
- 19:52Speaker 4: win a game.
- 19:53Speaker 3: So I'm gonna go Donovan Mitchell.
- 19:55Speaker 1: He's been outstanding lately, and the Lakers defense at some
- 19:59Speaker 1: point he has been playing better.
- 20:00Speaker 2: They are going to fall apart. Could be tonight.
- 20:03Speaker 1: Luka Doncic would be another good one. If you're just
- 20:05Speaker 1: looking for the chalkiest play of the night. Over at DraftKings,
- 20:09Speaker 1: I'm gonna go a little bit further down the board.
- 20:11Speaker 1: We're gonna look for a bigger payout with my King
- 20:14Speaker 1: of the Court pick. I'll go Danny Avvia of the
- 20:17Speaker 1: Portland Trailblazers going up against the tough defense in the
- 20:20Speaker 1: LA Clippers.
- 20:21Speaker 2: There's two ways that you can look at the King
- 20:22Speaker 2: of the Court.
- 20:23Speaker 1: You can either go with the obvious play against a
- 20:26Speaker 1: bad or suspect defense. Or you can go with a
- 20:31Speaker 1: player that kind of needs to put the whole team
- 20:33Speaker 1: on his back and they funnel everything through him against
- 20:36Speaker 1: a good defense. I'm gonna go that route with Avdia.
- 20:39Speaker 1: He's a guy that scores, rebounds and assists. Those are
- 20:43Speaker 1: King of the Court picks presented by Draft Kings. We
- 20:46Speaker 1: are about to dive into our must nail the draft
- 20:50Speaker 1: preview teams to be on the lookout for.
- 20:52Speaker 2: But first, a word for me about Draft Kings.
- 20:55Speaker 1: The Favorites podcast is sponsored by Draft Kings sportsbook, and
- 20:58Speaker 1: you should know DraftKings is the sportsbook for betting on

- 21:15Speaker 1: must be on the pr Leader. There's a new King

- 21:20Speaker 1: make your pick. Sign up using the promo code Favorites
- 21:24Speaker 1: to get in on the action now. NFL Draft starts
- 21:27Speaker 1: on April twenty third in Pittsburgh, PA Vegas. As the
- 21:32Speaker 1: top pick, They'll be taking Fernando Mendoza unless Dani Rolovski
- 21:36Speaker 1: takes over their draft room. The Dolphins, the Browns, the Cowboys, Chiefs,
- 21:43Speaker 1: and Jets are the only teams with multiple first round picks.
- 21:47Speaker 1: It's a deep draft, not very top heavy. This is
- 21:50Speaker 1: not going to go down as one of the world's
- 21:51Speaker 1: best drafts. This is a roster building draft, Kendra. So
- 21:55Speaker 1: if you need edge rushers, if you need defensive linemen,
- 21:59Speaker 1: if you need linebackers, offensive lineman, this is a very
- 22:02Speaker 1: meat and potatoes draft that we're looking at in April.
- 22:06Speaker 3: I need to know.
- 22:06Speaker 4: I need to know your thought process here because we
- 22:09Speaker 4: were on opposite ends of the spectrum. I went with
- 22:12Speaker 4: needing to nail the draft means you need production right
- 22:16Speaker 4: now to put you over the hump, which means I
- 22:18Speaker 4: went with teams who are likely kind of riding that
- 22:22Speaker 4: edge of boom or bust with Super Bowl at the top.
- 22:25Speaker 3: End of mine. And now I'm looking at yours, and
- 22:29Speaker 3: I just don't I don't.
- 22:31Speaker 4: Think that you need to nail a draft when everything
- 22:35Speaker 4: just got blown up, Like I think that you get
- 22:37Speaker 4: a little bit of leniency.
- 22:40Speaker 1: So there were a couple of ways that there was
- 22:42Speaker 1: not one clean criteria. There are different teams on my
- 22:46Speaker 1: list that meet different standards of what I'm looking for,
- 22:50Speaker 1: But the general idea is you have what you're talking about,
- 22:55Speaker 1: you're gonna have teams that you think a draft can
- 22:57Speaker 1: push them over the top. I think that that is
- 22:59Speaker 1: one of the aspect that you can look for in
- 23:01Speaker 1: needing to nail a draft. Another is you have a
- 23:04Speaker 1: lot of picks, So this is your chance to rebuild
- 23:08Speaker 1: your team with the bevy of picks that you have.
- 23:11Speaker 1: You'll never guess who made my list that fits that criteria.
- 23:16Speaker 1: And then you have teams that are getting old and
- 23:18Speaker 1: decrepit and they have to get better fast, fresher, faster, younger.
- 23:24Speaker 1: And there are a couple of teams that meet that criteria.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And there's another that spent way too much money in
- 23:30Speaker 1: free agency last year that needs to get back to
- 23:32Speaker 1: the industry standard, which is building your team through the
- 23:36Speaker 1: NFL draft. So those were my that's my spider web
- 23:39Speaker 1: of thoughts.
- 23:40Speaker 4: Well, Evan just dropped in the chat that he disagrees
- 23:43Speaker 4: with both of us.
- 23:43Speaker 3: So, Evan, what do you think that this means, what
- 23:45Speaker 3: does this mean to you?
- 23:47Speaker 6: I kind of thought that Kravitz it means a little
- 23:49Speaker 6: It was a little bit closer than I thought it was.
- 23:51Speaker 6: But I think it's more about draft capital, Like how
- 23:53Speaker 6: much of you invested in the draft kind of dictates
- 23:57Speaker 6: how important the draft is to you.
- 24:00Speaker 1: But because you also look at it the other way,
- 24:02Speaker 1: where you because you have some teams that are not
- 24:05Speaker 1: working with a lot of picks, like Seattle has like
- 24:07Speaker 1: four picks in this draft.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Sure so, and those teams aren't on my list.
- 24:11Speaker 1: But I'm just sort of thinking all of this through
- 24:13Speaker 1: before we hand out our teams that if you have
- 24:16Speaker 1: fewer picks, it's even more important for you to nail
- 24:19Speaker 1: the draft because you're taking less bites at the apple.
- 24:23Speaker 6: Yeah, I think it probably depends on how you acquired
- 24:25Speaker 6: the picks for that situation. Would be a different way
- 24:28Speaker 6: of looking at it if you look at the lists
- 24:30Speaker 6: that people have, like in terms of your draft capital
- 24:33Speaker 6: or cumulative draft capital by team, like the Broncos, the Falcons,
- 24:38Speaker 6: the Packers, the Colts, and the Seahawks are your bottom
- 24:42Speaker 6: five teams, So those would be the people with like
- 24:45Speaker 6: the fewest draft capital of that group. I feel like
- 24:49Speaker 6: the Colts might be the lowest in terms of like
- 24:53Speaker 6: power rating, So you could say this draft is very
- 24:56Speaker 6: important to the Colts, who are the weakest of the
- 24:59Speaker 6: teams at the and also don't have a lot of
- 25:02Speaker 6: draft capital.
- 25:03Speaker 1: All right, let's go one team at a time. Here
- 25:06Speaker 1: we are gonna go. Should we go back and forth?
- 25:09Speaker 2: Five and five?
- 25:10Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 25:10Speaker 2: Well, okay, let's do that.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Well, who's your number five team on your list and
- 25:14Speaker 1: we'll count down to our team that needs to nail
- 25:15Speaker 1: the draft the most.
- 25:17Speaker 4: My number five is gonna be the Giants just because
- 25:20Speaker 4: of one not a rookie head coach. You got to
- 25:23Speaker 4: go out there and do the thing that you're there
- 25:25Speaker 4: to do. Make this team better too. I think you
- 25:27Speaker 4: have to nail this draft because you need to get
- 25:29Speaker 4: better right now. Jackson Dart and Camscatibo are going to
- 25:32Speaker 4: have the shortest most electric careers of all time. You
- 25:34Speaker 4: need to be better, and you need to be better
- 25:36Speaker 4: right now. And it's a division that I think is
- 25:39Speaker 4: kind of falling apart in a weird way. I expect
- 25:42Speaker 4: them to go back to the NFC East of Old,
- 25:45Speaker 4: where a different team is kind of winning that division
- 25:47Speaker 4: every single season. So I think it's important for the
- 25:51Speaker 4: Giants to nail this draft, get better right now, and
- 25:54Speaker 4: improve on defense and the offensive line. Their defensive line
- 25:58Speaker 4: was incredible, but their secondary. I think that they could
- 26:00Speaker 4: add to get Jackson Dart some protection, and I think
- 26:03Speaker 4: this team might be rolling.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I can retweet that I'm not going to have
- 26:08Speaker 1: to jump around too much. This is the only overlap
- 26:11Speaker 1: that we have. The Giants are number four on my list.
- 26:14Speaker 1: They're on the cusp of being good. So I think
- 26:17Speaker 1: that that is where you and I are in lockstep
- 26:19Speaker 1: with how we're thinking about this process. For them, having
- 26:22Speaker 1: all of those young, exciting players on offense, They've got
- 26:26Speaker 1: flashy guys on the edge of the defense, and what
- 26:28Speaker 1: do we talk about moments ago. This is a meat
- 26:30Speaker 1: and potatoes draft for a team that is going through
- 26:34Speaker 1: an organizational shift that needs to get better in the
- 26:38Speaker 1: interior of both lines. This is a perfect draft for
- 26:41Speaker 1: them specifically, and this is one where they if they
- 26:44Speaker 1: really hit.
- 26:46Speaker 2: I think it's rare that you.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Take a team draft well and then all of a sudden,
- 26:51Speaker 1: it makes you a contender that's asking a lot of
- 26:53Speaker 1: rookie players. I think they are a team that could
- 26:56Speaker 1: actually fit that mold, so I'm with you. I have
- 26:58Speaker 1: the Giants at four, so well, I will skip them
- 27:01Speaker 1: when we get back to it. My number five team
- 27:04Speaker 1: is the Miami Dolphins.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I would honestly have them higher on this list, but I.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Say, last of twenty six minutes, I saved.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Myself the ridicule. I mean, come on, we're doing who
- 27:13Speaker 1: needs to nail the draft most? And I wasn't gonna
- 27:16Speaker 1: put the Dolphins on this list. I'm not sure that
- 27:18Speaker 1: there's anyone that is higher than them, but I'm just
- 27:21Speaker 1: trying to stay composed here. Next year's draft is probably
- 27:25Speaker 1: the more important one for them. This just needs to
- 27:28Speaker 1: be boring vanilla interior on both sides. They have a
- 27:34Speaker 1: ton of picks, and that's the reason why they made
- 27:36Speaker 1: the list. Seven of the top one hundred picks are
- 27:38Speaker 1: gonna go to the Miami Dolphins, so they ought to
- 27:40Speaker 1: get better in key areas and they need everything except
- 27:43Speaker 1: for running back.
- 27:44Speaker 2: I will not make you comments on this. We can
- 27:46Speaker 2: move on to the next one. All right.
- 27:48Speaker 4: I'm gonna go number four, the New England Patriots.
- 27:52Speaker 3: You just made it to the super Bowl. You shouldn't have.
- 27:55Speaker 4: You have a lot of holes you need some linebackers,
- 27:57Speaker 4: you need some edge rushers, you need a receiver very
- 28:00Speaker 4: much in the camp that I think the AJ.
- 28:01Speaker 3: Brown thing probably will wind up happening. But your division,
- 28:05Speaker 3: I think is getting better.
- 28:06Speaker 4: I think the Jets are gonna make a little bit
- 28:07Speaker 4: of a climb, not the Dolphins. The Bills are going
- 28:09Speaker 4: to be right there, especially if they can get Josh
- 28:11Speaker 4: Allen another weapon, They're always going to be right there.
- 28:14Speaker 4: It's just too tough of a division to cheap out
- 28:16Speaker 4: do what you usually do and sit back and rely
- 28:19Speaker 4: on coaching in a quarterback. You need to make this
- 28:21Speaker 4: team better otherwise fans are gonna go nuts. But I
- 28:23Speaker 4: just don't think that this team is as talented or
- 28:26Speaker 4: I don't want to say worthy of what they did
- 28:28Speaker 4: last season. They over accomplished with an easy schedule and
- 28:31Speaker 4: got lucky that the quarterback took a big jump. But
- 28:34Speaker 4: to keep the league and fans satisfied, you need to
- 28:38Speaker 4: hit this draft and you need to sign AJ Brown
- 28:41Speaker 4: or everything is just a wash and a bust.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean the AJ Brown thing, you're factoring
- 28:47Speaker 1: that into needing the draft, so he's not really a
- 28:49Speaker 1: draft the ball.
- 28:50Speaker 4: No, I mean, I do think that there could be
- 28:52Speaker 4: like a package or something come through with the draft,
- 28:54Speaker 4: just because there's gonna be teams that want him. And
- 28:58Speaker 4: so if you wait until that June firm deadline, I
- 29:01Speaker 4: think that you might be kind of cutting it a
- 29:03Speaker 4: little close, and teams might be calling and offering things
- 29:05Speaker 4: that you might not be willing to give up. Because
- 29:08Speaker 4: I think for the Patriots, at least from what I'm
- 29:10Speaker 4: hearing in the discourse around here, is that it is
- 29:13Speaker 4: this year's if they are going to do anything, it's
- 29:15Speaker 4: this year's draft picks, not next year's. So that's the
- 29:19Speaker 4: reason that I think that they're pushing for the June
- 29:20Speaker 4: before the June first thing. But I just I don't know,
- 29:23Speaker 4: it's a cluster fuck. You need a receiver either way
- 29:26Speaker 4: in the draft, and.
- 29:27Speaker 1: There's a couple of good ones. There's no Aj Brown
- 29:29Speaker 1: in there. But they have eleven draft picks this.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Now lot, which is why I think it has to
- 29:34Speaker 3: be this year.
- 29:35Speaker 1: They can definitely make some moves with the picks that
- 29:38Speaker 1: they have, and well, you may laugh at the six
- 29:42Speaker 1: and the sevens out there, but I know, I'm sorry
- 29:47Speaker 1: that did that, but you put enough of those together
- 29:51Speaker 1: and teams are going to gobble that up like candy.
- 29:53Speaker 1: So yeah, I think you may be onto something with
- 29:55Speaker 1: the New England Patriots. My number four was the Giants,
- 29:59Speaker 1: so I will skip that because I already told you
- 30:01Speaker 1: about that. Number three on my list is the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 30:06Speaker 1: No team needs a newer refresh on their identity than
- 30:12Speaker 1: the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 30:14Speaker 2: What are they?
- 30:15Speaker 1: I mean you really think about this, What is the
- 30:17Speaker 1: identity of the Steelers other than being the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 30:20Speaker 1: We think defense, we think running the football? Historically with them,
- 30:24Speaker 1: are they good at either of those things? What's the
- 30:26Speaker 1: planet quarterback old Man Rogers? Going into last year, they
- 30:30Speaker 1: the second oldest roster in the league. I don't know
- 30:32Speaker 1: where they rank right now, but they need to get younger,
- 30:34Speaker 1: They need to get faster, they need to get significantly
- 30:37Speaker 1: more exciting. They need ozembic facelift, the whole nine, just
- 30:42Speaker 1: the new look for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:45Speaker 4: I just don't know if you can fix all that
- 30:47Speaker 4: in one draft, but I do agree that they need
- 30:49Speaker 4: a hit they I just don't think that they have
- 30:51Speaker 4: made the right moves the last couple of seasons to
- 30:53Speaker 4: set themselves up for success.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Outside of the draft.
- 30:57Speaker 4: My next choice is going to be the Chicago They
- 31:00Speaker 4: play in a division where teams can score points, and
- 31:03Speaker 4: they've proven that they can score points.
- 31:05Speaker 3: But they need to.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Improve on every level of the defense in the draft,
- 31:09Speaker 4: and they all need to hit for them to be
- 31:10Speaker 4: able to continue to be competitive and get the most
- 31:13Speaker 4: out of a.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Rookie contract with Caleb Williams.
- 31:15Speaker 4: So I think that they have so much to replace
- 31:17Speaker 4: on the defense, and if they can limit teams to
- 31:19Speaker 4: twenty points a game and not thirty four, I think
- 31:22Speaker 4: that they are a team to be reckoned with in
- 31:24Speaker 4: that division.
- 31:25Speaker 1: They are one of those teams where you look at
- 31:27Speaker 1: their draft and say, if the first five picks are
- 31:30Speaker 1: all defense, that's absolutely fine.
- 31:33Speaker 2: Agree they need everything.
- 31:35Speaker 1: They have two second round picks, they have their first,
- 31:37Speaker 1: they're picking twenty fifth overall, they've got a third, they've
- 31:40Speaker 1: got a fourth, so they can they can load up
- 31:43Speaker 1: in the draft.
- 31:44Speaker 2: I like that Bears.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Look, my number two team on my list is the
- 31:49Speaker 1: Washington Commanders.
- 31:51Speaker 2: They went heavy in free agency last year. It didn't work.
- 31:54Speaker 1: They went from a twelve win team with no expectations,
- 31:58Speaker 1: which sounds a lot like the Patriots. By the way,
- 32:00Speaker 1: So if you're trying to predict who's gonna fall down
- 32:03Speaker 1: after what they put together last year, I will add
- 32:06Speaker 1: to the resident Patriot hater here on the podcast and
- 32:10Speaker 1: say it's obviously New England. They fit the bill of
- 32:14Speaker 1: where the Commanders were a year ago, twelve wins, no expectations.
- 32:18Speaker 1: In twenty twenty four, they push all the way to
- 32:20Speaker 1: the conference championship game. Then they go all in in
- 32:23Speaker 1: free agency, thinking we have struck gold with Jaden Daniels.
- 32:27Speaker 1: They have a five win team with Super Bowl expectations,
- 32:31Speaker 1: and I think the lesson learned here is that it's
- 32:34Speaker 1: one that a lot of teams with cap space eventually learned.
- 32:37Speaker 1: The Texans have been through this the Eagles in the past,
- 32:39Speaker 1: remember when they put together a super team.
- 32:41Speaker 2: They learn this. You have to build through the.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Draft and then add a little spice in free agency.
- 32:48Speaker 1: It's not the other way around. They picked seventh overall
- 32:50Speaker 1: and then they don't pick again until the third round,
- 32:53Speaker 1: so they have to nail their picks early because they
- 32:56Speaker 1: don't have a lot of them, and they went way
- 32:59Speaker 1: too in free agency last year.
- 33:01Speaker 2: So I'm going Commanders at number two.
- 33:05Speaker 4: Uh, next up for me is gonna be the Cincinnati Bengals.
- 33:08Speaker 4: They need to nail this draft or Joe Burrow is
- 33:10Speaker 4: going to retire.
- 33:11Speaker 3: He's gonna pull in Andrew Luck and he's going to
- 33:13Speaker 3: get the fuck out of here.
- 33:14Speaker 4: They need offensive line so that they don't kill him again.
- 33:17Speaker 3: They need.
- 33:19Speaker 4: They need to replace Trey Hendrickson now, like they need
- 33:23Speaker 4: so many things to make Joe Burrow happy and make
- 33:25Speaker 4: this team competitive once again in an easy division.
- 33:29Speaker 3: You can absolutely make.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Some moves to put this team over the top if
- 33:33Speaker 4: you hit in this draft and be comfy again. But
- 33:37Speaker 4: I think that if they don't hit, like we are
- 33:38Speaker 4: very much going to see an Andrew Luck situation and
- 33:41Speaker 4: just see Joe Burrow be so pissed off and walk
- 33:42Speaker 4: away from this game.
- 33:43Speaker 3: If they don't do anything to make him happy.
- 33:46Speaker 1: They pick tenth overall in the first round. I've seen
- 33:50Speaker 1: Delaane out of LSU the dB mock to them.
- 33:53Speaker 4: But a lot of people are talking about Kristin Miller,
- 33:55Speaker 4: the kid from Georgia.
- 33:58Speaker 1: Yeah, I've seen there's a couple of Georgia kids in there.
- 34:02Speaker 1: And then Rubin Bain. If they wanted to attack defense
- 34:05Speaker 1: since they lost Hendrickson, not a bad look either.
- 34:07Speaker 2: For them.
- 34:08Speaker 1: My number one on the list, the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 34:13Speaker 2: I think their dynasty depends on it.
- 34:15Speaker 1: This is the most important draft they have had since
- 34:18Speaker 1: they drafted Patrick Mahomes.
- 34:20Speaker 2: It all hangs on this. This is the pivot point.
- 34:23Speaker 1: If they load up with top tier talent and have
- 34:25Speaker 1: one of those drafts where three of their top four
- 34:29Speaker 1: picks turn into Pro Bowlers, we could be looking at
- 34:32Speaker 1: another five year run with Mahomes schooling other teams in
- 34:35Speaker 1: the playoffs.
- 34:36Speaker 2: If not, we could be down a road of further decay.
- 34:39Speaker 1: It's a diminishing roster that is also getting very old,
- 34:42Speaker 1: like Pittsburgh, with teams around you in your division and
- 34:46Speaker 1: in your conference that are steadily improving. They've set such
- 34:50Speaker 1: a high bar for themselves Kendrid that this draft has
- 34:54Speaker 1: to either meet or exceed what they have done in
- 34:57Speaker 1: the past, because they've gone a couple of years now
- 35:00Speaker 1: where they haven't nailed it. And they need those car
- 35:03Speaker 1: Loftus picks, those McDuffie picks, they need those. They've been
- 35:07Speaker 1: trying to get a receiver, zaf You're worthy. They tried
- 35:10Speaker 1: a running back Clyde Edward Hilaire. These things are not
- 35:13Speaker 1: working out.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Rashi Rice.
- 35:14Speaker 1: They finally got one right and the guy is running
- 35:17Speaker 1: people over in traffic.
- 35:19Speaker 2: So gotta get this one. If you're the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 35:23Speaker 3: I think it's my number one. I'm gonna go the Bills.
- 35:25Speaker 4: Their windows closing and it's closing fast. They need impact
- 35:29Speaker 4: players on the edge, they need a linebacker, and outside
- 35:33Speaker 4: of those two picks, I think they could use the
- 35:34Speaker 4: rest to throw darts at a dartboard at wide receiver
- 35:37Speaker 4: and just pray that it works out at that point
- 35:39Speaker 4: because this window, this might be the last year of
- 35:43Speaker 4: this window. Like to be honest, Drake May is just
- 35:45Speaker 4: going to get better. The AFC is going to get
- 35:47Speaker 4: tougher with all of the quarterbacks are in the AFC,
- 35:50Speaker 4: and this division of yours isn't going to suck forever.
- 35:53Speaker 3: It can't suck forever.
- 35:54Speaker 4: We watch this time and time again where these divisions
- 35:56Speaker 4: flip and turn around, and like I said, I expect
- 35:58Speaker 4: the Jets to get better. Drake May is not going anywhere,
- 36:02Speaker 4: like I said, so they need to hit on this drop.
- 36:04Speaker 4: They need to make a super Bowl run, not just
- 36:08Speaker 4: an early exit, second round exit.
- 36:10Speaker 3: Whatever. You need to be in the super Bowl or
- 36:12Speaker 3: it's over. It's done, it's closed.
- 36:14Speaker 4: You cannot keep playing this game again where you have
- 36:17Speaker 4: the best quarterback in football and nothing to show for it.
- 36:20Speaker 4: They need to hit on absolutely everything this year or
- 36:22Speaker 4: that window is not just closed, its slampshot.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I would agree with that.
- 36:26Speaker 1: The you don't want to waste the Josh Allen years
- 36:29Speaker 1: with the guy that plays the physical style that he does.
- 36:32Speaker 1: There's no guarantee that this is going to last forever.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Wide receiver has been in need. They tried to attack
- 36:37Speaker 1: it with Keon Coleman. It felt like they forced it,
- 36:40Speaker 1: and that's the issue that you get into and you
- 36:42Speaker 1: need a position that bad as you end up taking
- 36:44Speaker 1: a player. I don't think Keon Coleman ever should have
- 36:46Speaker 1: been a first round pick. I think they forced it.
- 36:49Speaker 1: And that's the problem is that you get so desperate
- 36:51Speaker 1: you take a player higher than he should go. You
- 36:54Speaker 1: over invest in that player, and then when it doesn't
- 36:56Speaker 1: work out, it sets you back another couple of years.
- 36:59Speaker 1: Buffalo is the two twenty sixth pick in the draft.
- 37:01Speaker 1: They don't have a second round pick, and they'd pick
- 37:03Speaker 1: again in the third round twenty seventh pick of the
- 37:07Speaker 1: third round, so they need to nail it. They really
- 37:09Speaker 1: need to nail that first round pick, otherwise roster wise,
- 37:12Speaker 1: they are setting themselves back big time. So a recap
- 37:16Speaker 1: on our top five, Kendra's top five teams that have
- 37:19Speaker 1: to nail the draft this year Giants at five, Patriots
- 37:22Speaker 1: at four, Bears at three, Bengals.
- 37:25Speaker 2: At two, and the Bills at one.
- 37:27Speaker 1: My top five, I have the Dolphins cash youer tickets
- 37:31Speaker 1: at five, the Giants at four, Steelers at three, Commanders
- 37:35Speaker 1: at two, and the Chiefs as one.
- 37:38Speaker 2: Evan, what are your thoughts, Evan?
- 37:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean I had the Bills, Commanders, Chiefs, and
- 37:47Speaker 6: Steelers as like the definite four. Bills have no second
- 37:51Speaker 6: round pick, Washington has no second round pick. Casey is
- 37:54Speaker 6: the fifth most draft capital. Pittsburgh has the eighth most,
- 37:57Speaker 6: but they have three thirds. I think all four of
- 38:01Speaker 6: those teams probably should be contending and either are very
- 38:06Speaker 6: high on that list and are fading kind of like
- 38:08Speaker 6: Kansas City and Pittsburgh, or like have a window right
- 38:12Speaker 6: now with Buffalo and Washington and don't have a top
- 38:15Speaker 6: pick where they both don't have seconds. The other two
- 38:18Speaker 6: I think that you guys mentioned, which are interesting is Cincinnati,
- 38:21Speaker 6: but to be fair, they have a ton of picks.
- 38:23Speaker 6: They're just really trying to keep burrow, like you said,
- 38:25Speaker 6: in Atlanta. Atlanta has the second lowest draft capital, only
- 38:30Speaker 6: five picks, and I feel like they kind of have
- 38:32Speaker 6: like an opportunity here, especially with no first and in
- 38:35Speaker 6: that division, there's there's a chance they can do something.
- 38:38Speaker 6: But that's kind of the way I looked at it.
- 38:40Speaker 5: And if I have to pick between your two lists, i'd.
- 38:42Speaker 6: Probably say Kravitz's lists. If I remembered the ten correctly.
- 38:50Speaker 6: Did you have Pittsburgh, Hendrew?
- 38:51Speaker 3: Now I did not.
- 38:53Speaker 6: Yeah, So I think Pittsburgh to me's got to be
- 38:55Speaker 6: in there, just because they have to keep up with
- 38:58Speaker 6: the Joneses in that division and kind of keep doing
- 39:00Speaker 6: what they're doing and get more talented.
- 39:02Speaker 5: And they have a lot of picks in this draft.
- 39:04Speaker 4: So well, Gifford just dropped in the chat that he's
- 39:07Speaker 4: on my side, so oh, there you.
- 39:09Speaker 1: Go, and that I that we completely swung and missed
- 39:14Speaker 1: on the Dallas Cowboys. That was definitely a consideration for me.
- 39:17Speaker 1: If there was a sixth option, they would have easily
- 39:20Speaker 1: been sixth.
- 39:21Speaker 3: You would have been Arizona.
- 39:23Speaker 5: What about green Bay? No First?
- 39:27Speaker 4: That's why I couldn't put them on here. How do
- 39:29Speaker 4: you nail a draft if you don't have a first
- 39:31Speaker 4: round pick. That's why I didn't have Jacksonville on here either,
- 39:33Speaker 4: Like you can't. You can't nail a draft if you
- 39:35Speaker 4: don't have a first round pick.
- 39:37Speaker 1: I think you have to have a first to be
- 39:38Speaker 1: on the list like this, And and Dallas has two
- 39:40Speaker 1: of them, by the way, they picked twelfth and twentieth
- 39:42Speaker 1: in the first round. So that is definitely Yeah. David
- 39:48Speaker 1: in the chat says, who doesn't need to nail the draft?
- 39:51Speaker 1: Denver the Rams?
- 39:55Speaker 3: Yeah, Denver in the Rams.
- 39:57Speaker 1: I think four picks, they're fine. They could whiff on everyone.
- 40:00Speaker 1: They're loaded. And I would push back on Atlanta, My
- 40:03Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons. I think when you look at what makes
- 40:06Speaker 1: them good, it's a bunch of young players that are
- 40:09Speaker 1: still cost controlled.
- 40:10Speaker 2: The Falcons.
- 40:11Speaker 5: Do the Falcons play them Dolphins this year?
- 40:15Speaker 3: Can we make a team trip if they do?
- 40:18Speaker 2: I don't know what the schedules look like yet.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Hold on, well, we know who's playing. We know who's
- 40:24Speaker 3: playing who?
- 40:26Speaker 4: Right, Oh my gosh, can we please have a field
- 40:29Speaker 4: trip if that happens? I'm so serious. Okay, so they're
- 40:34Speaker 4: home games.
- 40:38Speaker 1: They just played the Miami.
- 40:44Speaker 2: All right, Well that would have.
- 40:45Speaker 3: Been such a fun field trip, you guys.
- 40:47Speaker 1: I was gonna get the jersey where you know you
- 40:49Speaker 1: sew the two together. Hey, listen, if Illinois wins the championship,
- 40:56Speaker 1: but we're gonna we're gonna all gonna fly together to Atlanta.
- 40:59Speaker 2: We'll watch it Foulkes game together.
- 41:01Speaker 1: Thank you Evan for your inputs for our producers, Gifford Gold,
