- 0:01We tend to interpret events from our own ego standpoint as to
- 0:06whether they are good or bad, without reflecting on or
- 0:10considering how they relate to a larger picture and longer
- 0:14perspective. This means we judge
- 0:17circumstances as if they occur by chance, and we evaluate these
- 0:22things with the concepts of good luck and bad luck.
- 0:26All of this, however, is both inaccurate and extremely
- 0:30misleading. When we shift away from a purely
- 0:34egocentric standpoint, we begin to see that events do not
- 0:38necessarily happen because of their impact on a specific
- 0:43individual, but rather we are placed to experience events that
- 0:49have more general impacts and energetic trajectories and
- 0:53impetus. While we are under the primary
- 0:56impetus of the mental, vital and physical planes of evolution,
- 1:01these tend to create waves and counter waves, confusion, chaos
- 1:06and a lack of general harmony. As higher powers intervene, such
- 1:12as would occur with a shift to the divine standpoint away from
- 1:15the ego standpoint, we see what may be called a divine order at
- 1:20work that uses all the temporary expressions that look like
- 1:24disharmony at our level and moves it towards a greater
- 1:28harmony as the higher insight and understanding gain a more
- 1:32direct power of expression and action.
- 1:36Sometimes something we evaluate as good luck is really a bad
- 1:41thing for our evolutionary progress.
- 1:44For instance, someone gets $1,000,000 inheritance.
- 1:48If they treated properly, it may be a positive influence in their
- 1:52lives. But if they then determined to
- 1:55quit their jobs, change their lifestyle to one of indulgence
- 1:59and luxury, and otherwise make their lives about enjoyment
- 2:03rather than service, they may soon find that they are
- 2:07suffering more intensely than before they received that
- 2:11inheritance. In fact.
- 2:14Reviews of results of massive short term gain of wealth among
- 2:17lottery winners, celebrities or sports stars tend to bear this
- 2:22out, and in many cases they wind up poor and struggling after a
- 2:28brief run of spending beyond their normal means.
- 2:34Chance is essentially an interpretation from the narrow
- 2:37perspective of the individual because it does not see the
- 2:41larger order and process of the universal creation and its
- 2:44manifestation. If one shifts the viewpoint
- 2:48outside of the ego standpoint to the divine standpoint, there is
- 2:52no longer a question of chance and one can no longer interpret
- 2:57events as good or bad luck. Chance in that sense is
- 3:01disorderly because we there is a play of forces that intervene in
- 3:08the evolutionary process over time.
- 3:12It represents the operation of free will within the larger
- 3:15context of a divine harmony and order.
- 3:20The Mother notes in her questions and Answers 1929 to 31
- 3:25quote. Chance can only be the opposite
- 3:28of order and harmony. There's only one true harmony
- 3:31and that is the Super mental, the reign of truth, the
- 3:36expression of the Divine Law in the Super mind.
- 3:40Therefore, chance has no place but in the lower nature the
- 3:45supreme Truth is obscured, and hence there is an absence of
- 3:48that divine unity of purpose and action which alone can
- 3:52constitute order. Lacking this unity, the domain
- 3:56of the lower nature is governed by what we may call chance.
- 4:00That is to say, it is a field in which various conflicting forces
- 4:04intermix, having no single definite aim.
- 4:09End Quote. A disciple asks if chance is the
- 4:14expression of disorder in the lower worlds.
- 4:17Still there are happy chances which are not necessarily the
- 4:20expression of a disorder, aren't there?
- 4:23The mother replies quote happy for whom?
- 4:28For generally, in this world as we see it, what is happy for one
- 4:32is unhappy for another. What is happy in one case is
- 4:36unhappy in another, and that too is an expression of disorder.
- 4:41I don't say that necessarily it is a chance occurrence which
- 4:44makes you unhappy. I say that it does not
- 4:47correspond to the order of truths, which is very different.
- 4:52One may be very happy in the midst of disorder.
- 4:55There are many who are perfectly satisfied with their disorder
- 4:59and would not like to change it. End Quote Reference Srioro Bindu
