Speaker A: He was born on a Saturday in 73 he loves punk rock music fighting the 13, jabbing the dazzle Jazz rock Now on the beat guitar with a short wind radio Bat his motherfucking envy scrolling look at motherfucker cuz here he comes Andy Sculling wearing his orange hat.
• 0:27
Speaker B: Welcome to unsigned 51 8. I'm here with Corey Dempsey of I guess so Many Things. We got Single Cut, Sad Dads. You're a writer at Metroland. There's a new podcast coming out that, that you're the co host of for Metroland. So many fucking things. But I guess just, you know. What's up, man?
• 0:48
Speaker C: Nothing, man. Just happy to be in the dazzle den with you. Happy to chop it up, talk some shit.
• 0:54
Speaker B: Yeah. And there is like a few things that we want to talk about, but as, as is every episode, I'm just gonna, you know, we'll keep it loose. We'll just have a fucking conversation. But I guess the first thing we'll hit on is now that the news is public that that single cut north and side stage is closing. When? December 14th.
• 1:16
Speaker C: December 14th is going to be kind of the last day of business, but December 13th, we're doing a big blowout party.
• 1:23
Speaker B: Yeah. And you know, I have said on record, in print, on podcasts, on video, that like Single Cut is my fucking favorite place. So obviously very sad that it's closing. I've known about it for a long time. I guess it just became public like yesterday or the day before.
• 1:46
Speaker C: Yeah, something like that.
• 1:47
Speaker B: Yeah. I've known about it for a few weeks and it's been tough to like not say anything, especially when we were at a show at Single Cut not that long ago, and everybody's like, yeah, you know, this is great. I love this place. This is the greatest. I'm like, fuck. You know. But yeah, the last show is going to be fucking killer. I'm excited that, that we. And when I say we, I mean my band, shortly radio band, get to be a part of it. It's gonna be a fucking blowout. It's always a blowout when any combination of the bands that are on the bill play. But to have like all of them on one lineup is gonna be fucking sick.
• 2:27
Speaker C: That was, that was essentially my whole thing, like, because I. I've known about this for a long time, right. And you know, I started planning the holiday hootenanny. That's what we do every year. And I was like, oh, well, that's gonna kind of align with the last time that we're gonna be open to the public. And so I basically just was like, all right, I just want to play with all of my friends, bands, and the bands that I like, and we're just gonna make it a party. So it's gonna be us Sad Dads. We got Sugar hold, we got Eerie, we got the Baton Killers. We have Duryu, which is a band from Brooklyn that I love. They came up and played the Tap Room a couple times, and then Shortwave Radio Band. And yeah, I was just like, I just want to make this a party. Single Cut has been. I've been there for, like, four years, something like that, like, a long time, and have had a lot of great times, played a lot of great shows there, hosted a lot of great shows there. So I just. I wanted to do it one last time and just blow it the fuck out.
• 3:31
Speaker B: Yeah, and I definitely think that's what's going to happen because again, there's been many shows over the years that are like, some combination or the other of one of the six bands that you've mentioned, and every time, it's fucking huge. But, you know, from, like, a band's perspective to, like, you know, you're behind the scenes, obviously, at Single Cut, you guys take care of bands that perform there better than any place that I've personally ever been to. Like, you know, you turn like, your break room into a green room, and you would, you know, supply us with beers and make sure that, like, you know, everything is good and we're set up and no other places really do that, even places that are more geared towards music, for sure.
• 4:22
Speaker C: It's just personally important to me because I'm a musician. I've done that and I've gone into places where it's shitty and you have no idea what's going on. And, like, there's just no information given. So, like, I've always made it a goal when we're there to just, you know, make sure everything's clear. Like, here's your space, do your thing. And I mean, it's a fucking brewery. Like, we have a lot of beer that can't go out to the public, so why not share it with the musicians who are doing work for us and bringing people in?
• 4:54
Speaker B: And the musicians don't care if it's mislabeled or they don't care if it's a blank can that's dented.
• 4:59
Speaker C: Like, they don't care. So, like, the beer is perfectly fine within it. So let's. Let's use that. So I. I always Just keep a stash that's like, in our cooler that's labeled, like, for the squad. And it's for staff, it's for the bands that come in. It's for, you know, any vendors that come in. And I just, you know, we, we. We try and share.
• 5:20
  Speaker B: There's.
• 5:20
Speaker C: There's a lot of beer hanging around.
• 5:21
Speaker B: Right. And not like, you know, a lot of other places. Like, I can't really, you know, and I wouldn't anyway because there's enough negativity in the world. But, like, it's not like other places are like, terrible at taking places, taking care of bands. But Single Cut clearly went above and beyond every time. And that gets around. Like, when you talk to any band that's ever played there, they're always going to mention how well they felt taken care of, you know, Whereas, you know, I've had. We've gone to some places where, I mean, this is more a single person issue than a venue issue, but where we weren't told where to put anything until soundcheck, and we're like, we don't know where to put anything. There's no one around to ask. So I guess we'll just take this little space over here. And then we had a dude be like, dude, what are you doing? You can't put your shit there. And we're like, what the fuck? You know, like. Well, then somebody tell us.
• 6:14
Speaker C: Someone give me the information, please.
• 6:16
Speaker B: I've never been in this building before, and now, like, I'm expected to know. So, like, shit like that leaves a bad mark.
• 6:23
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 6:23
Speaker B: Where. That would never happen at Single Cut, because you guys are like, here's your space. Here's a table that's big enough for everybody and enough chairs for everybody. And like, so it was. It's gonna be. Gonna be missed. So I hope that. I hope that spirit gets interjected somewhere else.
• 6:40
  Speaker C: Yeah, I mean, I'm.
• 6:42
  Speaker B: We're.
• 6:43
Speaker C: We're gonna. We're looking around for a new space because Single Cut is still, like, fine as a brand. Like, we have our queens and our manliest location. You know, it was just part of a larger business transaction with that particular space. So we're looking around and, you know, if we find a new space, music will definitely be a big part of it.
• 7:06
Speaker B: And you're still producing beer at that location, and it will continue to be at that location, right?
• 7:11
Speaker C: Yeah. So the beer's still getting produced there and will be distributed around and be at Queens and Manlius and all that. But the tap room, that. That particular Retail space that. That is no longer.
• 7:24
Speaker B: Right, right. Which you know, again is part of a bigger business thing or whatever. But I would love. That would be fucking amazing. Just a, A very music centric place. It's just like a stage in a bar.
• 7:38
Speaker C: You know, it would be great with, with good beer.
• 7:41
  Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 7:42
Speaker C: That's what I. Yeah, that's the goal. But you know, we'll see. There's. There's nothing, there's nothing down the pike at the moment, but we are looking so hopefully we can find something.
• 7:52
Speaker B: And the fact that the brand is still thriving and is. Is not gonna.
• 7:56
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 7:57
Speaker B: Gonna diminish. Like it. It could be a possibility.
• 8:00
  Speaker C: It's not a possibility.
• 8:01
Speaker B: Just a dream. Yeah. So that is what. December 13th. December 13th, the last day of the Tap Room is. Is the 14th. But it's going to be with that many bands or is it going to be an all day long?
• 8:15
Speaker C: We're starting music at four and you know, we're just, we're going to go until it goes and there's going to.
• 8:24
Speaker B: Be worse that'll happen.
• 8:25
Speaker C: They're going to shut us down. We're closed already. And so we're gonna have a couple people out. Ross Marvin from Roundabout Records is coming out and he's gonna be slinging records and selling some stuff. And I just told him to, you know, he does all these markets and stuff. So I was just like, hey, bring it. Bring some cool vendors. So we're gonna be selling some stuff.
• 8:49
Speaker B: I could probably get another.
• 8:51
  Speaker C: Please do.
• 8:51
Speaker B: Record vendor. You know, I've got someone in mind. I won't say it on the pod just in case. Yeah, but I've got someone in mind.
• 8:58
Speaker C: Yeah, absolutely. So like we're just trying to make this a party. A good way to remember the Tap Room. It's going to be, it's going to be a lot of fun. December 13th, single cut north.
• 9:09
Speaker B: You know, and it's funny because with Baton Killers, like every single time that they play fucking anywhere. And they're like one of those bands that like, you know, they only play like couple times a year, three, four.
• 9:24
Speaker C: Shows a year maybe if that.
• 9:26
Speaker B: And I think that's they're on. They're on to something so magical with that because every single time they play I'm always like, holy, this is getting crazy. Like the last time even that they were at the single cut, like when they do, when they play Mr. Brightside, like. And I mean I'm, you know, I'll be real with you. I'm not a killers Fan. I actually could say that I dislike their music. Like, I do not like the Killers.
• 9:55
Speaker C: I don't agree with that. But like, it's fair.
• 9:57
Speaker B: Yeah, it's fine. Yeah. But I'm also like, I was a little old, I think, to hit that like, sweet spot of the Killers.
• 10:04
Speaker C: Like, you know, you're old school punk, that, that new wave, you know, Cynthy shit.
• 10:08
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm not really, I'm not. But I don't hate on him. But I just, I don't, I don't like it. I don't listen to it. But I love watching Bat and Killers. And there's some songs that I only know the worst too, because of them, because of Baton Killers.
• 10:21
Speaker C: Like, dude, I'll never forget when we. It was the first Andy Palooza and it was like, you guys, Sugar Hold America Offline and then Bat and Killers and we were there.
• 10:33
Speaker B: Do we have a.
• 10:34
Speaker C: We were like here maybe. I don't know.
• 10:36
Speaker B: I've got a holiday hootenanny poster. Eerie Sad Dads and Short Ways. All right, go ahead.
• 10:41
Speaker C: But I'll never forget because we just got started late and then it was like 11:30 and the bar is still. We close at 10, mind you, and it's 11:30 and the bar is still packed and they're just, it's jumping in there. I was just like, oh, holy.
• 10:54
  Speaker B: Yeah.
• 10:55
Speaker C: And that was the first time I'd seen Bat and Killers. And I was like, yep, I'm in on this band.
• 10:59
Speaker B: Yeah. And they do that every time. Like they pack the house every single time.
• 11:04
Speaker C: Like, it's gonna be a lot of fun.
• 11:06
Speaker B: Yeah. And like, just. I don't know, I'm go. I'm totally gonna miss it. But I, I do feel hopeful that it'll emerge somewhere else. Yeah. You know, there's enough, enough places in, in this area. God damn. That would be so cool to have just like a, like a single cut north that was like in a. A place that was designed for, you know, like I said, just a wonderful stage and sound setup and a long ass bar.
• 11:36
Speaker C: That would be phenomenal and may maybe hopefully.
• 11:40
Speaker B: Yeah, I'm. I'm holding out for it. But anyway, December 13, come out starting at 4. All of us is going to be a huge party and you know, there'll be more information coming as it comes. But I also want to talk about podcasts. Yeah. Which clearly I enjoy doing and I've been saying for a long time I would love more people to do podcasts. And you've been working on and when I say working on. You have, like, full fucking episodes in the can. You've got. You know, it's, like, ready to pull the trigger. But for a long time. For like, six, seven months, eight months.
• 12:18
Speaker C: Yeah, it's been a while. Video editing was something that we took on with this iteration of this podcast, and it was something that I was unprepared for.
• 12:31
Speaker B: So it's what I do for a day job. And I remember being like, oh, it only took you that long? That's pretty good. Like. Like, that takes for fucking ever.
• 12:40
Speaker C: It's. It takes ages. And, like, it's. It was just something that I was not prepared for. So, like, we were. We recorded all of it. It's one full season, eight episodes. We recorded it back in April at the Jive Hive, and now it is finally about ready to come out. It'll be probably December. We'll start releasing episodes.
• 13:03
Speaker B: And are all episodes edited, or do you just, like, have enough where you feel confident that you can get ahead of it once shit starts rolling out?
• 13:10
Speaker C: I have five. Five are pretty much done. All I need to do is I just need to get some graphics for, like, the intro and the. It's broken up into kind of a round structure because it's modeled after an MMA fight. So I want some, like, title cards in between as we kind of transition. So I just need to get someone. Hopefully, Kiki, she doesn't know this yet, but I'm going to talk to her about it to design, like, some little title cards that can kind of come up in between those things. But, yeah, so it's. It's about ready, and I think hopefully in December we can start releasing episodes.
• 13:52
Speaker B: And, you know, when you say. And I know what you. What you mean by it, because I was a guest on. On one of the episodes. But when you say it's modeled after UFC fight.
• 14:02
  Speaker C: Yes.
• 14:02
Speaker B: I guess Tell everybody what you mean by that.
• 14:05
Speaker C: Yeah. So this podcast came about. It's called oh, Real Original. And it's about twin films, movies that are basically exactly the same. It started with Armageddon and deep impact, the 90s movies that are both about comets coming to Earth.
• 14:22
Speaker B: That came out within months of each other.
• 14:24
Speaker C: Yes. And they come out, like, in the same year with basically the same exact concept. And we were like, this is weird. Why does this happen? Let's do a podcast about it. Because we love movies, and basically we pit these two movies against each other, and we created rounds to just bring some structure to the. To the podcast. So we kind of modeled it after a Five round championship MMA fight. So, like in round one, we talk about all the talent involved in the movie, the directors, the actors, the writers, etc. And then in rounds one or two through five, we discussed, like, plot points that overlap within the two films and just basically try and decide which did it better. And so, you know, it's me, it's Andrew Beam guy I've known, he's in Sad Dads with me. I've known him since I was like 8 years old. And we bring on a local artist to be the third person, the third chair, the third judge in the room to help us decide kind of which of these movies was better because they're basically the exact same. So which one executed the idea better, essentially, is what we're trying to get at. And it's just, it's just a fun conversation about movies. Like.
• 15:43
  Speaker B: Right.
• 15:44
Speaker C: That's all it's aimed to be.
• 15:45
Speaker B: And I like the. I really like having stuff. And people may not realize, but, like, my show is just a template, you know what I mean? Like, it's the same every fucking episode. The only thing that changes is the person sitting on the couch, you know, And I like the format that you have where it's like five rounds of things where it, like as a listener, you almost kind of know what to expect. And then you kind of get your favorite segment. Because I listen to a fucking ton of podcasts and a lot of them do that same thing where they have the same four or five segments every single show. And you get forward to listening, you know, where you're like, oh, I love this one. You know what I mean? I love this segment. What is this person gonna say about this? You know?
• 16:32
Speaker C: Yeah, and I mean, what's, what's also interesting is it's going to change. It's. It is the same, but it changes everyone because the movies change. So, like, it's always just overlapping plot points. Like in one of the, the episode that we did, we. We talked about just the killing spree that happens because we were talking about some horror movies, right? You know, and another one, it's a romcom episode, so we're talking about the Meet Cute instead. But it's always just, you know, rooted in what are these movies? And having a good discussion about them. I will say, like, one of the mistakes I think that we made that hopefully we will correct in the future, we picked some bad movies that just weren't as fun to talk about as when we were talked about movies that we really loved. And so, you know, we just Got to be a little bit more discerning in, in what we choose to talk about.
• 17:25
Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, that's a good point. But you know, I, I think, like, I mean, I had fun on the episode. I thought it was a great conversation. So, like, I think you might be looking at it a little more, maybe critical.
• 17:37
Speaker C: I might be a bit. I. I am perfectionist about this. Which is also why it took seven months to finish it. Because.
• 17:45
Speaker B: It'S so funny. Because, like, you know, Angelina Valeni, her podcast is now, I think episode four is coming out tomorrow as we record this. Sydney work with Sydney Worth Leap. But like, it's, you know, she did the same thing where she took a really long time to like cultivate everything and get everything ready and get all our ducks in a row, make sure everything was perfect and then roll it out. And I respect that and I respect how you're doing the same thing. You're making sure everything is perfect. And I'm like the exact opposite. I, from the time I had the idea of this podcast to the time I released my first episode was. I mean, not. It was a week or so. Yeah, if that, like, I was just like, yeah, do a boom, put it out. And sometimes I wish I had the perfectionist attitude because I'm such a slob with like that.
• 18:37
Speaker C: But it's. But it's also like, once you roll it out, like, you do all this work to like, make sure everything's perfect and it's all there. And then it's when you start doing it anyway, like, shit comes up and it's not how you imagined it. So like, all that stuff that you did to like make it perfect ends up changing anyway. So it's just like, why did I take all this time again? Like, just so I get it and I do. Like, I have to be that way. That's the way I am. But, like, I wish I was just more like, man, just fucking put it out there and let's see what happens. We can change on the fly, right?
• 19:11
Speaker B: That's how I am. That's. And I'm always like, if I don't have a plan, I can't fuck it up. You know, if I'm just like, do it. You know, just do it. And again, like, with the idea for this, I. One, it was when I had first stopped drinking, like, because I'm now on. It'll be 18 months in like another couple weeks or whatever. But I did a couple three month stints and it was the first time I'd ever done It. And I was, like, thinking, oh, I need to replace drinking with something productive. And I was like, I'm gonna do a podcast. And I created a, like, concept trailer and put it on Spotify. And then it was like. That was within, like, an hour of, like, thinking, I'm gonna do it. I, like, was like, I'm gonna do it, and then put it out on Spotify. And then I, you know, started from there, but it was literally just throw something out and fucking run.
• 20:05
Speaker C: It's an interesting thing about this modern age. Like, it's so easy to just put shit out there.
• 20:09
Speaker B: Yeah. Spotify was begging me to put it out there. I literally. I kept getting. That's why I did it. It's because I KE these fucking emails being like, hey, you should do a podcast. And they're like, it's super fucking easy. It's super easy. All you gotta do. And I was like, yeah, all right.
• 20:25
Speaker C: I mean, we started a podcast. This is a different iteration, but, like, the old podcast is still out there. It's called the Back Porch Podcast. We started it in 2020 during COVID and, like, we had the idea prior, but then, like, we were just stuck in our house, and we're like, what the fuck are we supposed to do? So we're just like, we're. Well, might as well just put some microphones on and record the conversations that we have out in the world anyway. Because, like, that's all it is, is, like, me and Beam, we debate music, we debate movies while drinking beers, and we were like, that's a podcast. We could just do that.
• 21:01
Speaker B: Yeah. And now I'm addicted to it. Like, I'm like, I'm addicted to it. Like, same.
• 21:07
Speaker C: I have so much fun.
• 21:08
Speaker B: What we're doing right now is, like, my fucking favorite thing.
• 21:11
Speaker C: Same. I just love chopping it up with people. And, like, you know, why not just record that conversation and put it out in the world? Maybe people will find it interesting.
• 21:19
  Speaker B: And if they don't, I don't really. Yeah, I don't really care.
• 21:21
Speaker C: That's fine, you know, because I'm not.
• 21:23
Speaker B: Doing this for anything other than, you know, when I have an artist on that wants to promote something, I want to help them get the word out, you know? But I'm not do. I don't want to do anything other than talk to people in my garage. You know what I mean? I'm not like, oh, one day I want to have unsigned 518 television studio or something. I'm like, fuck, no. I just want to hang out in my garage.
• 21:45
Speaker C: I don't. I don't want any of that. The only thing that I want is I just want to be able to do this creative stuff for a living. Like, I just want.
• 21:54
Speaker B: That would be cool.
• 21:55
Speaker C: Like, all I want out of music, out of all this stuff I do is I just want to make enough money that I don't have to work a regular job.
• 22:03
  Speaker B: Yes.
• 22:03
Speaker C: Because, like, this is what I love to do.
• 22:05
Speaker B: I'm lucky enough, like, currently in my position. Like, my day job is fucking wonderful. And, like, I know they don't listen, so I'm not saying this because, like, I want them to listen, but my day job is fucking wonderful. I get to be creative in my actual job. Like, I do social media and, you know, I do video editing and photo editing, and, like, it's fun. Yeah. Like, it's. It's so. It's the first time ever in my life where I'm like, oh, I get to be creative in all aspects of my life.
• 22:36
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 22:36
Speaker B: So, like, to just not. Like, up until Metroland started, like, I was paying to put the podcast out.
• 22:44
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 22:44
Speaker B: You know, so it was actually not, like, a ton, but it was causing me money to do this. But I was addicted and I had to. And, like, now just, like, you know, to be able to do this and not have to pay for it is. I'm like, this is great.
• 22:59
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 22:59
Speaker B: Like, I just want to do this for fucking ever.
• 23:02
Speaker C: It's. It is great. And I just. Hopefully one day I can get to a point where I'm good enough at it that someone pays me to do it enough money that I can just live off that. That.
• 23:13
  Speaker B: That.
• 23:13
Speaker C: That would be. That's the ultimate goal. But in the meantime, I'm just gonna keep doing it because I love it.
• 23:18
Speaker B: Yeah, it would be cool to have, like, a professional studio, but, yeah, I can. I can smoke weed in my garage.
• 23:26
Speaker C: You can smoke weed? I don't know what studios you've been in, but, yeah, I feel like weed in studios is, like, appropriate, mandatory. Necessary.
• 23:34
Speaker B: Yeah. You just got to put a smoke eater in the studio so that it doesn't fuck with the equipment.
• 23:38
  Speaker C: Yep.
• 23:40
Speaker B: So that's. You know, there's no. Obviously no release dates or anything, but, like. Oh, and also, you know, we need to mention, too, is. You had mentioned before that it's video. Like, it will be the. The first. Because Metroland now has three. Well, four podcasts, if you can't. So we've got Mistress of None with Aaron Harks. We have two normal people with Angelina Valeni, unsigned 518, and then Weekend Spotlight with BJ Swinghammer. And yours will be the first with any video. Oh, wait, no, actually, no. Aaron has done some video stuff, but so that's cool as fuck. And I guess we gotta, like, create a YouTube channel.
• 24:27
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 24:27
  Speaker B: Or something.
• 24:28
Speaker C: Like, we still got some stuff to figure out on the back end. And like, I was, I was really nervous about the video aspect. Like, audio is fine, but like now I'm on camera and people can see me and it's weird, but I was just like, that is the way of the future, so to speak. Like, all these, all these podcasts are doing video and I was just like, all right, we'll. We just got to do it. Like, if this is, if this is the direction the medium is going, then we just got to jump on and do it. I just got to get over my bullshit. And, you know, so we just. I just dressed in Bill's gear and, you know, did things that I love.
• 25:04
Speaker B: And I bet, you know, because once we get, you know, we don't need to talk about this on air because it's all like, logistics shit about like hosting video podcasts. But like, once we get that settled, I wouldn't be surprised if we all kind of shifted towards that video stuff because, you know, if, if the means are there, we might as well utilize it. And if you're trailblazing and being like, no, we're doing video, like, you know, maybe they'll see my ugly face on.
• 25:33
Speaker C: There soon enough, you know, I mean, the dazzle den is beautiful. It's ready for camera. Yeah. Yeah, let's do this shit.
• 25:39
Speaker B: You could set up a multi camera. I'm not as beautiful, you know, that's my thing. You know, I'm like an old school radio guy where I'm like, what? People don't even see my face.
• 25:48
  Speaker C: What?
• 25:48
Speaker B: I wouldn't even like. I remember back when, like the Internet was. I mean, I'm sounding like old man Skulling here, but I mean, it's true. Like, I remember when the Internet was like first coming about, like in the, in the 90s, late 90s, early 2000s, when I was on the radio and we had to have like a web presence. I wouldn't use a picture of myself ever. Like, I would always use like a cartoon photo of something or like something because I was like, I don't want people to know what I look like. That's fucking weird. So it'll, you know, it'll be weird for me to do a video podcast.
• 26:24
Speaker C: It's definitely weird. I got. I got. You get used to it very quickly. I will say that, like, the first episode, I was all up in my head about it. Like, the camera's there and then, you know, feeling weird. But by the second time that we recorded, I didn't even notice the cameras at all. And I wasn't, like, focused on it. I was just in the conversation. So, like, I don't know, I feel like that's just a human thing too. Like, you. You get over it. You. You get used to it pretty quickly.
• 26:52
Speaker B: You know, it's funny because, like, I mean, I've talked about it, like, on Social, but I recently lost like, a chunk of weight and it actually stemmed from seeing myself on video when I did that our ban thing.
• 27:06
  Speaker C: Oh, yeah.
• 27:07
Speaker B: It's, you know, 4K HD. All these, like, studio lights. Like, there's no height, you know, I mean, you're in the dazzle then, like, there's no real lights on in here. Like, it's dark and mellow. Whatever. There was lights right on me. And I was watching it on YouTube and I. I was like, you know, just between you and me, I was disgusted by what I saw. I was like, holy. Do I really look like that? I was like, look how fat that guy's head is. And like, I was like. I, like, got, like, really mad at, like, seeing myself.
• 27:38
Speaker C: And that's for change. And you look great.
• 27:41
Speaker B: Thanks, man. Yeah, almost. Almost 30 pounds in, like, you know, two and a half months or whatever. But, like, that's what did it. Seeing myself and being like, ew, gross.
• 27:52
Speaker C: Like, I def. I definitely get that way. Like, I see pictures of myself sometimes at, like, weddings and stuff. And, like, that suit does not fit, man. Like, you gotta get your together. Yeah.
• 28:04
Speaker B: Yeah, it was tough, but again, you know, a positive outcome because, you know, diet. Diet and exercise got me there and. But I can't. I, like, can't watch that now. Yeah, like, gross. It was fun to do, but, you know, next time I'll.
• 28:21
  Speaker A: Yeah.
• 28:22
Speaker B: Be better. So I guess, you know, we've. We've talked about the. The show at Single Cuts and the PODC that'll be coming out sometime in the next six weeks or so and it will obviously let people know.
• 28:37
Speaker C: Yeah, it'll be on the Metroland channel. I mean, I don't have much of a social media post following. I rarely post shit, but I will post it on my own, so it'll be out there when we have a firm release date. But, yeah, I mean, I'm excited for it to finally come out. I felt bad too. Like we had all these wonderful artists come on and I'm like now it's like seven months later and like, but you know, they've all also been super understanding. So. Yeah, I'm just, I'm just excited for people to come out and for people to see these artists that came on and talked about movies. So it's gonna be fun.
• 29:14
Speaker B: Yeah. And plus, when you're doing Evergreen content like that, like it doesn't matter if you record it and then release it seven months later because you could listen to it in 10 years.
• 29:22
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 29:23
Speaker B: And it'll still same fucking thing. You know, like talking about these movies and, and obviously you know that I won't say what movies we, we discussed. But you know, out of all the movies, you did give me first choice and, and I chose the, the horror movies. So.
• 29:39
Speaker C: Yep, right up right on brand.
• 29:42
Speaker B: I was like, oh no, definitely. Like I can't talk about anything else.
• 29:46
  Speaker C: Yep.
• 29:46
Speaker B: Yeah. So look for that coming out, you know, maybe December. Ish. But again, we'll, we'll, we'll let people know in plenty, plenty of time to listen to those. So is there anything else?
• 30:00
Speaker C: The only other thing, I recently joined a band, Not Chinese Takeout. I'm playing guitar with them. Great bunch of guys. They've been on your show. We love them. Their debut record is just about finished. It does not have a firm release date yet, but that is going to be out in the world soon. So just also look out for that Not Chinese Takeout. Ny follow them on Instagram and stuff. They'll be posting about shows and album coming out. I actually haven't even heard it, so I'm in the band and I haven't even heard it so. But I'm excited to see this debut record come out for them. They're a great bunch of dudes.
• 30:40
Speaker B: They are a great bunch of dudes. And we were saying, you know, off mike before we got rolling and we might as well say it on the record now. I was saying how much I like those guys and how they've been very supportive of my endeavors of the podcast of my band. JP came out with Cheyenne and they were in our video for Yellow and they show up at shortwave shows and yeah, they're just really cool dudes.
• 31:06
Speaker C: Very great guys. Great champions for local music and you know, I, I, they're much younger than me.
• 31:14
  Speaker B: Oh sure, yeah.
• 31:15
Speaker C: Like a good solid 15 years. But like, I don't know. I believe in these guys. So like I jumped in because I just want to help out and, like, whatever, you know. Know how I have from being around. I just want to pass it on to them and help them out because they're. They're a great bunch of dudes, and I do believe in their music. Like, I think they're. I think they're good writers, so.
• 31:36
  Speaker B: Me too.
• 31:37
  Speaker C: I'm excited.
• 31:38
  Speaker B: Their music's great.
• 31:39
  Speaker C: Yeah.
• 31:39
Speaker B: And they. They are one of the bands that have done a performance in here, like a full, Full, full electric performance in the Dazzle Den. And it was really cool. So I think that's on YouTube. You should go check that out.
• 31:52
Speaker C: Yeah, check that out too. But, yeah, just keep an eye out for that record. And that's what I got going on at the moment.
• 32:00
Speaker B: Yeah. All right, well, this has been a cool conversation. And, you know, obviously, being on the Metro Land team with you, I see you often enough and will see you on December 13th for a fucking party. It's gonna be. It's gonna be. We should have, like, 911 on speed dial just in case.
• 32:22
Speaker C: We're gonna get after it. Yeah, we're gonna get after it. We're gonna rock really fucking hard.
• 32:26
Speaker B: Yeah, maybe I. And, you know, being that I don't drink, maybe I'll take like. I got the. Had these edibles a couple days. Well, I actually have one left, but there were gummies that are a hundred and fifty. Fifty milligrams per gummy?
• 32:39
  Speaker C: Hell, yeah.
• 32:40
Speaker B: They were shipped in from California. I took. Yeah, I'll take, like two of them.
• 32:44
Speaker C: Yeah. And then you're gonna go to the Sunken Place and it's gonna be fucking awesome.
• 32:49
Speaker B: It is gonna be awesome. But, yeah. So everybody come out single cuts. Keep an eye out for the podcast, and I guess that's it.
• 32:57
  Speaker C: So cool.
• 32:58
  Speaker B: Yeah.
• 32:59
  Speaker C: Thanks, Andy.
